The leaves an imagine of the holidays. Dave Ryan's Christmas Wish. Okay,
we are doing another live Christmas Wish at seven thirty
nine on Wednesday morning. This will be our halfway point
on Christmas Wish and once again it is flown by
Good Morning Ashley. Good morning Dave. How long have you
been listening to katiewb Ashley? Since I was four years old?
(00:23):
Four years old? And here you are doing a Christmas wish?
And this wish is for your sister in law? Correct, yes, okay,
and you probably never thought you'd be doing a Christmas wish. Fortunately, no,
I haven't. And then this year just some awful things
have happened to this family. Yes, and they need a break,
They need some good news, they need some cheer, They
(00:45):
need to feel loved and supported and probably helped a
little financially too. Yes, let's call him right now. And
they don't know, they never know we're calling, but we
call and then sometimes they don't answer. And that's why
we have our standby Brandon from Calledge Muscle Movers. Brandon
was at the gym yesterday. Do you know how much
Brandon can dead lift? No? Tell him how much? Brandon
(01:07):
can deadlift Jenny. This is amazing. Wow, yeah, crazy. Well
he's a college muscle mover'n have me and vonton there, Brandon,
how you doing?
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Good morning?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Good? Uh Brandon, thanks for standing by, Thanks for all
you do. What part of town are you in right now? Brandon,
I'm Minnesota. Wow, drive up there, gotcha. Thanks for making
that long drive and thanks for all you do. College
Muscle Movers is going to deliver another Christmas wish. And
by the way, they provide fifteen free muscle boxes and
an on time guarantee with every move. And if you
(01:45):
want Brandon to flex while he's moving your fridge, he'll
do that for you. Right, Brandon, maybe, thanks for what
you do. Please hold, We're gonna call right now live
on Katie W.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
So.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
I mean it's early in the morning. What did you
do to convince her to answer her phone.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
We had told her that somebody was calling for a
job reference. Okay, that's a smart Everyone should take notes.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
I'm going to keep that in mind for next year.
Hand them to answer their phone. Well, the trick is
to not give it away, but make sure they answer
the phone. Hello, Man, demand demand Demand, Amanda, Man Demand
Aman Amand, amandas Hi, Amanda, do you know who this is? No,
(02:36):
I'm on the radio. We do Christmas wish. Who is it?
If you said, Tom Bernard? Hi, Amanda, We're on the radio.
And I think I kind of gave away why we
might be calling because I'm here with your sister in law,
(03:00):
Ashley Say Hi Ashley.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Hi Amanda, I love you.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Hi.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
So you know I think you listen to Katie WB
You've heard of Christmas wish, right, I am? Okay, Well,
we're doing a Christmas wish for you and your little
family because we've heard from Ashley some of the things
that you and your family have experienced in the last
year or so. So we want to have Ashley read
(03:27):
her letter about you and your family. Is that okay? Yes, okay,
whenever you're ready, Hi Baba, I love you, Love you.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I would like to nominate Amanda, Mike and Avery reared
in for Dave Ryan's Christmas Wish. Amanda, Mike and Avery
have been through so much in the last few years.
They have had to show immense strength and perseverance through
the most challenging and emotional circumstances life can produce. Mike
and Amanda are parents to two handsome little boys, Elijah
(04:00):
and Avery, whom their entire world revolves around. In twenty
twenty one, they had received a diagnosis that their son,
Avery had a rare congenital liver disease known as Corolis syndrome.
They have had numerous follow ups and treatments related to
Avery's conditions since his diagnosis in twenty twenty one, as
(04:20):
they were managing his syndrome with medications and procedures. Unfortunately,
in March of twenty twenty three, they lost their other son, Elijah, unexpectedly.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
In a car accident.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
As you can imagine, this is devastating from Amanda, Mike,
and Avery. They have navigated a lot of first the
last eighteen months as Amanda, Mike, and Avery manage their
daily lives with Elijah in their hearts. Additional challenges Harry's
significant weight. In August of twenty twenty four, Avery's medical
(05:07):
team had made the decision that it was time to
place Avery on the liver transplant list. Amanda and Mike
received the call on Thanksgiving Day, just a few weeks ago,
that they had a liver match for Avery, and within
twelve hours he underwent liver transplant surgery. We are thrilled
that avery surgery was successful. He has been recovering in
(05:29):
the hospital with Mike and Amanda by his side and
will for quite some time. The transplant is a journey
they will all continue to manage together moving forward. I'm
so thankful to have Amanda, Mike, and Avery in my life.
They are truly a symbol of pure strength. This Christmas
wish will support Amanda, Mike, and Avery by allowing them
(05:50):
to focus on Avery's recovery, alleviating both the financial and
emotional burdens of the holiday season for their family as
they move forward, honoring Elijah's memory in Avery's new liver.
Thank you, Katie W.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
B for granting their Christmas witch Man. I'm so sorry
to hear about Elijah. How old was Elijah when he
passed five? What was Elijah like? Tell me about Elijah?
Speaker 2 (06:21):
He would let up a room and he walked into
He was the sweetest, most caring boy.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
That is something that is a parent of four. Any
parent who's listening, you just can't imagine how you go on.
But you you have to go on because you've got
your family and you and you've got little Avery. How
has Avery done since the passing of his brother.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
He is the strongest boy I know. He takes everything
with grace.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
And how old is Avery now? He is five, Okay,
so in an age where they kind of start to
comprehend some of the things about Elijah.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Yeah, he asked the right questions and he doesn't hold
anything back. So that's good.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
And on Thanksgiving Day, so less than two weeks ago,
tell me about the phone call with the liver.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
So we knew we could expect to call at any time, anytime.
We were literally dishing up thingsgiving meal, and I got
the call slurwer, and I actually threw my dinner plate
and I ran to the other room to take the call,
and I got my husband and then they told us
that they had one.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
And so within twelve hours he was in surgery.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Yeah, we had to be down to the hospital within
like an hour or two. And then he was in
surgery the following morning.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
And it's such a serious surgery for a little five
year old. Yeap, that had to have been a very
difficult thing to to but also very hopeful at the
same time.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Yep, But he did amazing. It's it's it's it's unreal
how kids are resilient.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
And so two weeks, almost two weeks later, I hear
that Avery is doing very well. Yes, is he home
now or is he still in the hospital.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
We were actually going to the Ronald McDonald house, but
some of his numbers were elevated, so we're back in
the hospital.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Okay, this is a rough go. I mean, to to
have the health challenges with Avery and then to lose
your precious little Elijah, so suddenly we just we just
can't imagine. We're just so sorry for your loss.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I thank you, really appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
And Christmas Wish is here to help out in a
couple of ways. While we can't take away your grief,
we can bring a little joy and appreciation and sympathy
and just some support to you and Mike and little Avery.
(09:17):
So Christmas Wish is all about giving you things that
you might need. Some things are practical, some things are fun.
But one of the big things about Christmas Wish is
to just let you know how loved you are by
your family, by people that don't even know you here,
(09:37):
by your community. And so we are going to get
some things. Let's start with Avery. Okay, for a little
Avery five years old back in the hospital. Here are
some things for Avery. We're going to start off with
an iPad eleven plus keyboard so he can what a
five year olds watch on their tablet anyway, Our Rangers,
(10:05):
so we've got that. We got Bluetooth headphones for him.
We've heard he likes transformers, so we got some transformers.
We've got a karaoke machine of all things, because I
thought that'd be fun. We've got Monster Jam, Monster Trucks.
Great Clips heard about this and they threw in a
free haircut, you know what, because kids need a haircut.
(10:26):
And check this out. The Minnesota Wild heard about your
wish and they're throwing in a Wild prize pack that
includes a signed puck thanks to the Minnesota Wild. Does
he love the Wild?
Speaker 2 (10:35):
He like hockey?
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Yes. And then for the family, we had some things
for the family too, and this list goes on. I
hope you've got a while. We really want something just
to make you guys feel special and love. Let's start
off with some family games. So when you know all
kids love playing Trouble Uno and Candy Land, I've got
(10:58):
that for you. Some stuff that Avery won't care less about,
but you might chlorox, wipes, wind decks, pledge, mop bucket, dish, soap,
all kinds of cleaning stuff. He also won't care about
the three hundred dollars Cub Foods gift card. But we've
got the Cub Foods gift card for you for three
hundred dollars.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
Oh, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Two hundred dollars Uber Eats gift card. So that way
when you're at the hospital or you're at home and
you don't want to make anything, you can do the
Uber Eats a one hundred dollars gift card to Broadway Pizza.
They heard about Christmas Wish, and they're like, give everybody
who gets a wish one hundred dollars from about Broadway
Pizza a one hundred and one dollar gas card from
our favorite Holiday station stores. So when you're driving back
(11:40):
and forth and you're in Becker right, yes, so's your
hospital back in the Twin Cities.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
In Minneapolis, Okay, so a lot.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Of driving back and forth. So we got a gas
card for you. Christmas Wish is proudly presented by Holiday
Station Stores. And just a reminder, if you're listening, for
every fuel purchase now through the seventeenth so another week
or so, Holiday Station Stores donates a portion to Christmas wish.
What about the washer dryer. We've heard it's on the blink.
Is that true? It's just not what it used to be. Yes,
(12:13):
problem solved. We got a thousand dollars Home Depot gift card,
one thousand dollars for a brand new washer dryer, one
of those that weighs your laundry and speaks to you
and does calculus and all that. It's amazing. We got
that for you. And then you got a dog. Tell
me about your dog?
Speaker 2 (12:33):
You have three dogs?
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Three? Uh oh, we're in trouble. No, tell me about
your dogs.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
B band, cookie and boon two or yeah, treat walker
coon homes and one lab.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
I love this. We got to eat a dog toy.
We had one on the list, but now we got three.
So we got dog toys and a two hundred two
hundred dollars pet Smart gift card. Because people forget dog food.
You got to buy the dog food, the treats and
the collars and things like that. And then let's talk
about let's talk about Mike, Dad. How's Mike holding up?
Speaker 2 (13:05):
He is our strength. So that's that's wonderful.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
What does Mike like to do? Rumor has that he
likes hunting and ice fishing.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yes, that is that is correct.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
So it sounds like he's a perfect candidate for a
five hundred dollars Shields gift card.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Oh that well, he's got one. Oh you guys so much.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Moms love Target, am I right, yes you are. We're
going to send you to Target with a five hundred
dollars gift card. This is I mean you can spend
it all at once or use it over the year
whatever for this and that or necessities or whatever you want.
For Amanda, that's for you. We've got a one hundred
dollars Visa gift card so you can treat yourself to
a manny petty and Ashley is offered to watch you know,
(13:50):
Avery while you go do that. This is pretty cool.
We found a fifteen inch skylight touchscreen smart calendar for
keep a track of Avery's appointments. And that is that's
ordered is going to arrive in your mailbox around your
front porch probably later today. And then also we got
one hundred dollars gift card to Woodhouse Spa. You can
relax at one of their three locations. Big thank you
(14:11):
to Woodhouse Spa for a very generous donation. And if
you're looking for a gift idea, I'll throw it out
there woodhouse Spa dot com. So that's for you also.
But there was something else, a bonus one a bonus
that we wanted to throw in here. It is a
Treasure Island Resort and Casino bonus. It's a staycation package. Now,
this might not be the right time for it with
everything that you've got going on, but when it is
(14:34):
right for you, We've got a stay at Treasure Island
Resort and Casino. We got two hotel rooms, either both
on one night or one room on two nights, whatever
it's better for you. Four Lagoon water Park passes, four
bowling passes. I think they have that ramp thing at
Treasure Island where you roll the ball down the ramp.
Now you don't have even five years old and super bowling,
(14:56):
and so that's for you. Two and then two hundred
dollars for dining at the island. So I just can't
imagine what the last year or two has been like
for your little family. And this, I think is just
one of those things where like three years ago, You're
just raising kids and going to work and making Kraft
(15:16):
mac and cheese for dinner and just doing your normal thing,
and then all of a sudden, the world kind of
turns yes. And that's why we do Christmas Wish because
we just want to show you some love and support.
And this is a really hard one to do because
it's a little guy and you're a little ki.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
I'm speechless. Thank you guys so much.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Well, you're so welcome. I want to thank our partners
in this one, Holiday Station Stores and Treasure Island Resort
and casino. Thanks to the Prairie Island Indian community. They've
been helping out with Christmas Wish for years. Talk about
some big hearts they love helping us out. Youth Link
is our charity sponsor. Is tax deductible because of youth
(16:00):
Link and come to some of the proceeds go to
youth Link. Choice Bank is our banking partner, and of
course College Muscle Movers as well. But the biggest thing
on Christmas Wish is we want to thank the people
who nominate, people like you who who have nominated for
Amanda Ashley. So thank you very much, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Thank you, absolutely, I love you.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Guys, very very very much.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
I love you too.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Brandon from College Muscle Movers is outside your outside your door.
He'll be coming in a few minutes with all the
things that we have named, except the washer dryer because
that's a little bit different story. But half the best
possible Christmases and the best to Avery and the best
to you and Mike and your family, and I'm so
(16:47):
glad we got to do this wish for you guys.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Thank you guys so much.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
You're so welcome. Take care, okay, oh, thank you. And
that is Christmas wish on Katie W. B.
