Just got to get out there and swing and ding it.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Yeah, you know, just guess it's gonna go out there
and try to swing it and ding it.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
That's right, Welcome in to swing it and ding it.
And iHeartMedia podcast.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
This is Moose along with May's and Matthews on this
Postmaster's Golf week.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
I don't know. Is it all downhill from here? Is
it all uphill from here?
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
But after that weekend there's a lot to get into
and we will do so. But first we are joined
by a guest, Lewis Joe Baccini, golf sales manager at
Hammock Beach Resort, but also a filly, aaria guy.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
Let's let's start with that, right.
Speaker 5 (01:03):
Lewis very good, grew up in Hamilton Township just across
the river from Yardley, Pennsylvania.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
I think I've played just about all the gap Manh's
one hundred and eighty golf courses, but I've played quite
a few of them.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yes, Oh that's good, because Daniell will hit you with
a hard one at the end of the at the
end of the intense interview.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
We're going to go through right now.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
For that.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
But let's start where you are now.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
I can see the reflection of sunshine, you know, through
the through the credenza behind you.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
And and again.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
We talked to a lot of people that are a
lot smarter than us who are from here where we
are in the Philadelphia area. Obviously Danielle's in Jupiter right now,
but but are not here anymore because they have moved
on to literally greener pastures and uh and are and
we still don't know why Harry Mays hasn't done it yet.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Well I did it, and I moved back. That shows
you what an idiot I.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Did that. I did that one for a specific reason.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
But when I got off the plane, I was in
Philadelphia area this weekend and it was forty degrees and
it was raining, yeah, and he had a little bit
of snow flurries.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
And I got off the plane and Trenton and you
have to walk.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Oh right, yeah, no, term that right right.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
I got my headphones on and I'm walking and I'm
going wall.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
I thought I was the dumbest person in the world,
but I'm not anymore because I don't live here.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
I need to take a moment and point out, can
we take a look at what you're wearing today? Because
Harry always makes fun of me because I wake up
and I'm like, oh my god, it's sixty seven degrees here,
and I'm putting on a turtleneck. I'm putting on like
ug boots. I'm like to take my dog out for
a walk. And Harry's always like, you're so soft, but
look you got on You're down Florida.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
You Oh, the air conditioning must be.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
The air conditioning is tough, especially when you get up
in the morning. You gotta watch what that air conditioning
is pointed over there.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yeah, yes, we'll talk to us about about Hammock Beach.
I am thrilled because we're recording this on Wednesday. I
will be arriving on Friday and I will actually be
playing a round of golf with Lewis on Sunday.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
We are on an ocean course at nine o'clock. The
Ocean course is a Jack Nicholas signature, So mister Nicholas
built six holes.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Directly on the ocean.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
No other golf course in Florida has six holes directly
on the ocean, so we're quite proud of that.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
It's all past Pounum platinum grass, so it's all wow. Yeah.
So you're looking at the fairway right through the green,
it's like.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Wow, It's like you're on a matt moose, on a
Matte moose.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
That's what it is. That's the way I describe it.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Yes, And our conservatory is a Tom Watson signature and
that is seven miles inland. And as mister Watson says,
that is a Links inspired golf course. And we have
you'll probably know this. We have Q School there second
stage in December. We'll be having that for the.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Year this year.
Speaker 6 (04:01):
Wowow, what are some of the any Well, I guess
so the that's not decided yet. What about previous years?
What are some big names that you've had come through there?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Well, listen, we're we're almost ready.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
We think I don't want to announce it, but we
think we may be getting the Senior tour back. We
had that here years ago and Bernhard Langer won on
the ocean course and on the conservatory we had we
had on the conservatory Ryan Palmer one at eight under
oh yeah, back in two thousand and eight, so that
(04:35):
stretches out to seventy eight hundred yards.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
The Q School used it about seventy five seventy six.
Still we don't go to seventy eight. For big hitters
like Brandon. That's the place.
Speaker 6 (04:46):
Think we might have to take a trip over there.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Yeah, oh yes, yes, yes, And he's been here before
with the Friars.
Speaker 6 (04:54):
Oh yeah, yeah, that's so funny. Actually in my little
office nook area have the Friars count under.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Rate behind him, and Lewis is also a member of
the Friars, so the Friars have a lot of events here.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
So I had met.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
Brandon in the I had known of him because he
was from the Philadelphia area, but I met him in
the lobby and my family's quite we're we're quite fond
of him.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
We have a down syndrome boy, our twenty three year
old boy. And of course, years back, I think it
was like five years ago in Argentina, Argentina, he had
that thing where he gave the boy gave.
Speaker 6 (05:29):
The man, the glove and the ball, the thing.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
So Keegan Bradley did that for my son. And now
every single week my son Marco's, how's Keegan doing this week?
He looks, he wants to know. So Brandon touched that day.
He probably looks for him every single week to see
how he's doing.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
Oh that's so sweet. Yeah, that's cool. Stories it, you know,
just humanizes it and he just it doesn't take much
to be kind.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
So yeah, well, Lewis, how long you've been at Hammock
Beach And.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I've been here?
Speaker 5 (06:03):
Okay, So I was at Walt Disney World in food
and beverage, very very different, right, So COVID struck so
of course from COVID strips, Disney shuts down.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
So my food and.
Speaker 5 (06:17):
Beverage manager, who was at the Swan and Dolphin, he
had come here to the pomp Coast and he asked
me if I wanted to help out. We were renovating
the steakhouse, our sports bar, our sushi bar. So that's
how I got That's how I got to the Pomp
Coast because I already knew the golf courses were great.
(06:38):
So when I interviewed, I said, listen, can I play golf?
And they said yes, So I said, okay, I'm in.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
I was in the food and beverage.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
We renovated, we renovated the restaurants, and then the golf
sales position came open. And as my boss said, probably
the worst mistake he made.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
But we're moving forward.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
We'll talk about your history and golf. He said, you've
played everywhere. When did you get started? You know, it's
interesting because you've kind of had a little bit of
a different path getting back to the game of golf.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
So you know, in twenty ten, I had to looking
up what year it was. I played for mercer Oakes
and we made it to the final four in double A.
We played Marion, Glenn Mora and Huntington Valley won that year.
So Michael Brown was on our team, who now was
a Lulu. And glenns Moralo, who's a great player. He
(07:33):
wanted to Patterson Cup in the Silver Cross. He's one
of the best players. And Tommy Barolacci, who's a legend
in the Gap, hasn't forgiven me because I missed about
a three footer on the eighteenth at Marion.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
He still hasn't forgiven me. I saw him not too
long ago. He still won't talk to me.
Speaker 5 (07:50):
But I came to golf through football. I didn't start
playing golf. That was twenty years old as a quarterback
and all the fat linemen, We're going out to hit
golf balls, and I went, I'm not doing that. So
I eventually went with him, and I wound up joining
the golf team the next year. So that was a
Trent State College now the College of New Jersey.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Oh very cool.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah cool.
Speaker 6 (08:16):
Well you said one of the criteria to accept this
job is that you had to play golf. Do you
still get out and play much or is work kind
of taken over? Is there a happy medium?
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Work has taken over?
Speaker 5 (08:26):
Yes, But at five thirty, I got a cart, my
club's on it, and I'm ready to go daily. I
had to talk my boss and to let me play
with Jeff on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
So yeah, yes, Well you explain you got a Jack
Nicholas course and at Tom Watson course. Tell us a
little bit more about maybe the practice facilities, because Moose
loves to go out and beat balls on the driving
range with drivers, mini drivers, you name it. And what
else does the resort have to offer for missus Moose
(08:58):
while he's playing golf way.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Talking about the practice range. Do you guys know Jason
Barry I do not, young pro. He was the coach
at Ryder. He's now director of instruction at Springdale.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
So they went and brought us a great group in
February and used our practice facilities. So we have a
lot of golf schools that come here, great teachers. I
think Jason was in Golf Digest for top three Young
Pros teaching pros in the country. So as far as
our resort goes, we got pools, we got a lazy river,
(09:37):
we got we got a great spaw on hand here.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
We have great food and beverage.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
Delfinos, our Italian chop house is a Wine Spectator Award
winner for its wine list.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
We have a.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
Great sports bar, Loggerheads, so if you want to watch
the ball games, we got big giant.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
TV's in there and great food.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
And above that is our sushi bar called Sticks, so
if you love sushi, we have that. And then out
by our pool, we built a boardwalk out there and
we have our pizza in Gelato.
Speaker 6 (10:14):
I need to quick pull up my ways up and
see how long it's going to take me together. You say,
Lazy River wins back there awards sushi in a sports bar. Yes,
I mean I think I'm moving in there.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
You go listen. We love to have you.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
Yeah, amazing, And that's what that's what I love.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
We talked to a lot of you know, people obviously
in our area, right Lewis, who are looking to get away,
go someplace that's just easy to manage, right, And when
you look at a place like Hammock Beach, that's what
I see, right, you go there, You're good. You could
stay there, you play maybe you know, one of the
courses twice, one of the courses once or twice. You
have everything you need, you know, whether it's a group
(10:51):
of guys going for a trip or couples. It seems
like that kind of place where it's like, you know,
there's some places that are really one versus the other.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Where you go, I seem to have it all there.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
No, we split that.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
We're very family with the leisure end of that, and
then of course my buddy groups which we have and
you know, we got a lot of great competition in Florida.
You know, we got stream Song and now New Cabot
and we got the raw and there's a lot of competition,
but I think what cuts us is our customer service.
(11:22):
When your buddy group comes here, you get a PGA class,
a professional Danny Hughes, who's the best at this.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
He is your golf concierge.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
He greets you, he gets your golf indexes, he puts
the dots on the cards. He makes sure your clubs
are transferred from the conservatory to the ocean, so you don't.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Have to take him back and forth. I think he's
a difference maker, no doubt about.
Speaker 6 (11:48):
It, absolutely that Mike love concier service. You arrive and
you're like truly on vacation. It just feels good. Well,
take us back to your position and a typical day,
if there's such thing, what that looks like for you.
Speaker 5 (12:06):
You know, you're only as good as your next It's
like golf, you're only as good as your next round.
You're only as good as your next sale in this game, right,
So you know, we've been very blessed here that.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
We get.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
We get a lot of inquiries, and that's quite a blessing.
We don't have to go out and look I shouldn't,
so that's quite a blessing. My day is fielding calls emails.
I'd rather talk to people on the phone then just
go back and forth with emails. Try to get a
little personal. And I like to talk about people's golf courses.
(12:39):
You know, you know, somebody's gonna come here and they're
going to bring us a lot of money. I'd like
to know what golf courses they play, and maybe there's
something special.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
We can do for them. Yeah, well are you?
Speaker 6 (12:54):
I was just going to say, if people are listening
and they're interested in either booking a trip for their
family or you know, a guy's trip, or even maybe hosting,
you know, coming out for a clinic or something, how
would they go about getting in touch with you?
Speaker 5 (13:06):
Lewis l O U I has dot G I O
V A C C H I N I at Hammickbeach
dot com.
Speaker 6 (13:14):
There we go.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Yes, that's why I gotta ask you. Do you?
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Uh, you're very busy, You're going to find time to
play with Moose on Sunday? But were you able to
take in the Masters last weekend? And what were your
thoughts on every shot?
Speaker 5 (13:27):
Don't miss a shot, can miss the shot of the
Master's never gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
I mean there's a lot, there's a lot to say there.
That was.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
Wow, that was about as entertaining a golf tournament as
probably nineteen eighty.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Six when Jack Nicholas won.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
Right, Yeah, different style of course, but so many and flows.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
It was.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
Yeah, I'm a Justin Rose fan.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
Me too, Well, why I am a Justin Rose fan?
Speaker 5 (13:57):
I like this kid and that Roy's a great guy too.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
But I was rooted for Justin Rose me too.
Speaker 6 (14:03):
Yes, he was my first golf crush.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Really a way, We've been doing this podcast for several
years and this is breaking news.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Awesome.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
Well, Brandon doesn't isn't going to listen to this episode.
He's playing this week. So I'm going to text him
like an Instagram contest one time. This is like ten
years ago, and he sent me like a signed hat
and I was like like, oh my god, like look
what I got. I was like a little you know,
(14:36):
not a golf groupie. But I was just like, he's cute.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
He's a good guy. Seems like a really good guy.
Speaker 6 (14:42):
Yeah, I just didn't get it done this week.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Yeah, So would you have laid up on thirteen if
you were Rory.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
McElroy if I'm Rory McElroy, probably not.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
No, no, I always, especially on the last day.
Speaker 6 (14:58):
Maybe maybe you lay up on you know, Thursday or
you know.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
That said, I wouldn't have laid up on three if
I was briconed to Shamba, No way. I think that's
where he gave He gave away the superman like vibe there. Man,
that was a big turning point in the golf tournament.
Speaker 6 (15:16):
But according and according to Jordan Speed, if you guys
heard this, we're not supposed to talk about it. We're
not allowed to talk about it. But the mudballs. I
was shocked, But then I was like, well, everybody's dealing
with it then, But I guess you're just not supposed
to say it. But supposedly thirteen was an area of
some mudballs.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
So you know, it's hard to complain about mudballs with
one hundred and fifty million dollars in the bank.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
But yeah, or when you're at a GUSTA, tell you what,
Jordan's Jordan's green jacket is not going to be pressed perfectly.
Speaker 6 (15:52):
The bad guy and the little cop. Yeah, amazing.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
I'm sorry, Joe, No, go ahead.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
I thought he really got fortunate on eleven when he
punched out of the trees on the right and the
ball if it rolls one.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
More kids going yeah, let's I want to give you
a chance to talk about your son who's playing. You know,
since we talked a little bit about college golf, talk
about talk about your son and college golf, and what
you're seeing right now out there for the Rider.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Is his final tournament. He's a senior.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
So oddly enough, the MAC Championship is at Walt Disney
World where.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
My son grew up.
Speaker 5 (16:31):
You know, we lived in Windhomere right behind Disney for years,
years and years, so he's probably played that Magnolia course
more than any other course he's you know, yeah, but
they've changed the last four holes and that's the only
thing different. He's finished second twice in the MAC Conference Championship,
so hopefully he may. You know, it's one thing when
(16:53):
you're watching your son, it's very difficult, and you'll know
that's enough. You know, you have to keep explaining your
worth is not your golf score, That's not who you are.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
You know.
Speaker 6 (17:06):
Rory actually said that a couple of weeks ago. I
said on Instagram, actually DMed it to Brandon because he said,
I'll share it and put it up on our stories
on Instagram. But he was like, it took me probably
fifteen twenty years to realize at the end of a
golf realm that just because I shot overbar does not
make me a terrible human, and just because I shot
(17:29):
underpart doesn't make me the greatest guy on earth. And
he said it took him a very long time to
not equate his golf score or performance with himself as
like a human.
Speaker 5 (17:39):
I think something very pointy at the end of that
tournament was how relieved he was.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
It wasn't much, It wasn't more joy.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
He wouldn't think that, you know, it was such a
burden that you could see it.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
It was a burden on him.
Speaker 6 (17:51):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
And as a parent, I think I learned a lot
watching that on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
You know, can you imagine being so good that it's
a burden to not win the hardest golf tournament in
the world to win, right, That's that's it.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
We can't relate to that, can we.
Speaker 6 (18:05):
I say it all the time in the game of golf,
you lose every I mean ninety nine percent of the
time that you step on a golf course for a tournament.
And tea up a ball. You lose almost every time
unless you're Scotti, Scheffler Tiger Woods.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
It's a cool it's a cruel game.
Speaker 6 (18:24):
It is.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
It's a cool game.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
But we're not looking forward to get out there and Hammock.
Speaker 5 (18:30):
So anyway, Jeff, I think you're you're in our main tower,
which is eleven stories.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Okay, they're all ocean view suite.
Speaker 6 (18:39):
That's when I'm in the basement.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Twenty square feet.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
Yep, you're gonna have quite a time. You're gonna We're
gonna show you a great time.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
Yes, love.
Speaker 5 (18:49):
We also have houses here at Hammock Beach. We have
an eleven bedroom home, we have a seven bedroom home
or five bedroom home is right on the beach beach access.
So we have a lot of accommodations, different accommodations for
all of our guests.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Wow, I can't wait to see you all right now,
Daniel is going to hit you with the hard hurterers.
Speaker 6 (19:06):
Now, we let you warm up, We let you get
acclimated with us, so we hope you're ready. Go ahead,
take it deep b all right, I need your top
five golf courses going from five to one in the Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Area in the Philadelphia area.
Speaker 6 (19:26):
Yep, So start from five and take it to your
number one Billy golf courses.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Or you can go the other way if it's easier. No, no, no,
the other way.
Speaker 6 (19:35):
Build the drama.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
So listen to New Jersey count is the philadel.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Association. Yes, we'll say the gap area.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Right, we'll say the gap area. Are you ready? Let's
go five?
Speaker 1 (19:48):
The rigid Backbrook, Oh, terrific. Wow.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
Yeah, let's go for Machina komp National. Let's say three
because somebody's somebody's gonna listen. Not like this, Marion. I
know that should be.
Speaker 6 (20:05):
Higher, but no, this is your your time.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Five.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Well, you missed that putt on eighteen though, you know,
so it can't be number one.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
Okay, Well maybe because I missed a putt on the last.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
Call and the match. I'm still a little softy over
that joint. So you know I have played the new
Wisa hicken Philly Cricket.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
Let's do that, okay, and a couple of weeks from now,
you know what, let's leave it alone and just we'll
just go with Pine Valley and leave it at.
Speaker 6 (20:36):
That impressive less Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Oh yeah, I love that place. That place is awesome.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Talk about practice facilities.
Speaker 5 (20:45):
Oh, they used to have an invitational every year. If
you won the invitational, you've got a membership.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
For the year. Is that right? Yes?
Speaker 5 (20:53):
Yeah, and I was unlucky enough to finish second twice.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
No, no, I just got just got well.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Listen, good luck to your to your son and the mac.
Make sure you head the Hammockbeach dot com check it out.
I will be doing a full review when I get
back and when we talk next week. I can't wait
to uh to get out there and experience it. You know,
this is the first time with me traveling with all
four daughters since the baby was born. So my wife
and four daughters. So I'm like, I'm gonna get one
(21:22):
round in. My wife's getting well, that's yeah. We're only
going for a couple of days. You know, I was
going to get a spa day. I'm gonna get Harry.
Let's get let's start with one. Let's see how things.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
I'm not even bringing my clubs. No, I'm gonna rent
clubs and just moose.
Speaker 6 (21:37):
We'll have Harry watch one of our children and then
see how many rounds of coffee South on Monday to Aberdeen.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Do you know Aberdeen and Boyne Beach, Florida.
Speaker 5 (21:50):
Okay, I got fortune not to qualify, so we I'll
be headed Jupiter Area.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Love the love it, love it, Lewis. Thank you so much,
great talking to you. Came wait to meet in person.
We got one of those Philly golf hats for you
that Harry's wearing, and I'm gonna bring it down one
for you and one for your son and uh, you know,
looking forward to get out there and checking out Hammoc
Beach and what it has to offer.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Wow, such a great pleasure. Nice to meet you today.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
You got it.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Let's let's take a quick break and we will be
right back to recap the masters. All right, welcome back
to Swing It and ding It. Great to talk to Lewis,
Joe Vaccini. You know, there's not a lot of interviewers
that just would probably nail that last name like swing
It and ding It.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
I'm glad you. I'm glad you were leading into.
Speaker 6 (22:30):
That because the thing Louis g Louis to g.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
You know, lu Giovi.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
I see that was a nickname that he went by
it some it or maybe his son, his son does.
But it's always great to talk to the guys from
up here that are now down there.
Speaker 4 (22:47):
Absolutely yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Now you've got to find a way to play more
than one round, though, you got to get two in.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
I think so well.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
The tough part is we're going over the holiday, so
it's I'm actually playing eastern morning because the t sheet
was wide open. Okay, and you know we're not doing
anything else. But it's a quick, little, quick, little, you know,
four day or so and I haven't played around the
golf yet. I'm supposed to play, hopefully get one in
this week, but.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
That might be my first round down there on a
set of rentals. I only have one in April. Only
how many in March? Probably about eight.
Speaker 6 (23:21):
The weather was almost better in March.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
It was it.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Got it got nice, and then it just like whoop, no,
just kidding, yeah, but uh the weather in AUGUSTA. Let's
let's start with the the incredible performance playing through adversity
and talking about Jim Nance with a sinus infection. Right, listen,
the second I turned on the broadcast, I know it.
(23:45):
I'm like, wait, something on sound right, my man's battle
and the allergies. And he said it on Sunday late
Because people must have been like Jim doesn't sound like Jim.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
He said it was the highest polling count in the
history of like Augusta.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Is that right? Well, I know Scotti Scheffler was really
affected by heat.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
You know.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
It reminds me of that Chris Farley thing where it's like,
do you have allergies, Like, instead of taking the medicine
that last one day, this will take you out the
whole entire allergy season. He's like drinking.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Then that's what he needed to do. But what a
Sunday was.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Also, It's funny just.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
How many times that we as golf fans say it's over.
Speaker 6 (24:25):
I even texted it, Yeah, like there's an entire.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Back I was trying to mush it. That's what I
was trying to do.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
You can't force you can't like say, shut out if
you're trying to break the shutout. You can't reverse jinks
of jinks. It just doesn't work that way. But you know,
we have mixed feelings about Rory on the show.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Let's face it, right, but to see to be.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Able to witness history that only five other people have
ever done was incredible and from the second of you know,
because from a wagering perspective, I had that Patrick Reid ticket.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
That was paying out me two thousand dollars on one hundred.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Who was like if he was didn't stop messing around
early in the round Bryson And then honestly, when Rory
misses that putt on eighteen, I'm like, I'm taking Justin
Rose into playoff, Like, this guy's got to be gutted.
No hits the best golf shots he's ever hit in
his life. But all when all that said and done,
when you realize, all right, whatever bets are over, no
big deal. When you watch the emotion that came out
(25:28):
of him and you're seeing that history and you're really
reflecting on what this guy's done in his career, Like
it was incredible. It was just incredible to watch that
and to see it right and just to be invested
in that five hours of just seeing all the ups
and downs, you know, the start that he had where
you're like, oh, here we go, we're even here comes Bryson,
(25:50):
and then Bryson falls off and then no one's talking
about Justin Rose since since Friday or Saturday, and quietly
this guy is just having an incredible round and you
see Patrick flash six Corey Connors flashes for a little bit.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Scotty.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
You know, Scotty has it.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
He was always lurking.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Yeah, yeah, but you know he gets, he gets. He
had his first four majors between twenty eleven and twenty fourteen. Right,
the twenty fourteen PGA Championship was when he works last
one major, and you can see how.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
That has weighed on him, right.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
And you know he gets two doubles in the round,
it's a wild round.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
He had four for the week.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
I don't think there's been a Master's winner that has
ever done that with four double bogies during the week.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
Just incredible.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Yeah, just just an incredible day weekend to Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
And you talk about the time lapse, you said you
mentioned the PGA in twenty fourteen, that was when they
played it in August. Now, of course it's May. That
was August tenth of twenty fourteen. It was three thousand,
eight hundred and ninety nine days since then. That's almost
eleven years. And just to sort of put it in perspective,
we know, you know when Tiger went from eight the
(27:07):
US Open, beating rock Omedia and that great playoff on
the Monday to the twenty nineteen Masters. That was three
thou nine hundred and fifty four days, just to you know,
fifty some odd days more. The most I believe is
Ben Crenshaw, who between the eighty four Masters and the
ninety five Masters, which are his two majors on the
(27:28):
PGA Tour, four thousand and eleven days. Just to think about,
how you know that span. I mean, that's more than
most careers last, you know what I mean, Like guys
that are are out there on the PGA Tour for
nine or ten years are lucky.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
To be there.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
And here he is between majors.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
It's staggering.
Speaker 6 (27:47):
Oh yeah, and to just be like resilient like that.
He actually even coming off after the round, like he
said to Fact she could hear on the broadcast, he
goes roller coaster. I mean, I can't imagine that adrenaline
of you know, missing that pot on eighteen, to have
to go into a playoff playing that hole and then
having to you know, make that pot again, and then
(28:09):
you know, Moose said it just seeing him not like
let's go, but like like relief, like just you saw
the world drop off his shoulders and then you know,
go hug his daughter or whatever. But it was like, Wow,
that's grind for him for sure.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
It's crazy when he shanked that wedge on thirteen right
of the pin and we all remember where that pin
is when he's aiming left about twenty five thirty feet
at least to put it in the middle of the green,
and he shanked it and it went in the water.
I was like, I couldn't believe it, Like, like, even
(28:45):
you know, that's something we do, right, not the guy
trying to lock down the Grand Slam.
Speaker 6 (28:53):
Well, the whole back nine, and not even Rory.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Everybody. Oh, I was like, what is going on?
Speaker 6 (28:58):
Everybody's just going up on themselves and obviously it's, you know,
a major championship. It's Sunday the back guy and like, yeah,
and you're seeing all of this happen, and I'm just like,
I mean, it felt like the wheels were falling off
everybody's scarf and I'm like, what is happening? So, I mean,
I thought it was one of the coolest masters in
a while. The only thing I got a little annoyed
(29:20):
with I was texting you guys too, because I have
it on I'm watching It's alive, and you know, I
have my phone on my watch. I'm not even paying
attention to it. My watch vibrates. I look at it.
It's like free golf. Before Horror even misses the putt,
I'm like, what the heck? Like, I gotta like take
everything off next time I'm watching golf.
Speaker 4 (29:36):
But I mean and goetd.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Now, Well, Lewis was talking about the luck that he
had on the eleventh hole where he hit his approach
into the green and it almost went in the water.
It kind of held up there almost like Freddy Couples
back in ninety two on the twelfth hole and he
ends up I believe, making bogie there. But Bryson had
already put it in the water. So Bryson was done right.
But you look back at the the good fortune that
(30:01):
he had on Saturday, the par on twelve, he hits
it over the green into the pine straw, right into
the flower beds, and the ball disappeared for what seemed
like about a second and a half, and all of
a sudden, boo, it comes right back out, almost like
a like a gopher.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
You know.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
He said, was a leper cut unbelievd said it.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
He said, I got break.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
I couldn't believe every time I thought it was out
of it, there was a window every time, Like he
just got the brakes all week.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
The fourteenth, hit that right.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
The fourteenth, he hit it right and had an alley
way through the trees, made an unbelievable shot the eagle
on fifteen. Both on Saturday. The one on Saturday was
with a six iron from a similar spot to the
one on Sunday where he made birdie with a seven iron.
Were two of the greatest golf shots I've ever seen, like,
regardless of the situation, Like those were Tiger Woods golf shots.
Speaker 6 (30:56):
Majestic name in it, so we can have that for
the archive.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Well, there was two majestic irons from Rory McElroy that
were Tiger Woods esque.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
Wow that good? Yeah clean, that's.
Speaker 6 (31:10):
One two.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
I never deny how good he is.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
Okay, it's just it's about the It's about the media.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
It's the media.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
Yeah, you know, I said it on Saturday and now listening,
it turned out he won and he was the story,
but he wasn't in the lead. And they start live
from and the first sixteen.
Speaker 4 (31:27):
Minutes straight not get it. He's going for the Grand Slam.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
But like you know, mix in some other They don't
want to talk about Bryce In, but let's talk about
some of the other guys.
Speaker 6 (31:37):
Wait real quick, I need to be on this Rory thing.
I saw you. Everyone saw that commercial of like when
He's a Little Kid that Nike did, and I saw
someone say like, Nike's had this in the archives for
eleven years or whatever. Turns out they shot that on Saturday.
They saw that there was like a chance that he
might win. They called the I can't remember the business name,
(31:57):
but the business that does the caddy sit. They called
him like, can you print out a McElroy tag and
overnight it to us, like right now, we need to
shoot this. And that's where like the bag from the
dry cleaners is coming out with the McElroy. So Nike
like shot that entire commercial, edited it at all together
on Saturday so they could have that ready to go
for Sunday.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
So you know, it's pretty cool.
Speaker 6 (32:20):
Yeah, I thought it was a cool thing because I
thought so too. I'm like, they definitely had this in
the archives for a minute, and they were like, oh
he might do this, like let's shoot this now.
Speaker 4 (32:28):
Yeah, that was very cool, very cool, very timely.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
So obviously Justin Rose I mean incredible, incredible performance from
start to finish. Definitely from start. I don't know why
didn't take him to be the first round leader, but
I mean, and just showing that poise that I think
a veteran, only a veteran like him could show, where
he just he just hung around. Now, the other part,
(32:53):
which I want to go to the Masters, I think
it's mostly just to not have my phone for five hours.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
That is.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
I know you can't do it much more now, I
know how heart it would be, but the fact that
that's what that tournament is so incredible. The fact that
people are staring at a scoreboard to turn manually right
to find out whose up or down is just so.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
Cool to watch.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
And I can't wait to hopefully one day see that
in person because it's so cool.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Yeah, it's timeless, it really is. There's so many elements
to it that are so cool. But you talk about Rosie,
he made ten birdies on Sunday, he finished six under
par with four bogies, and the bogie in seventeen is
what ended up killing him, and you know, just truly
a magnificent round of golf. But to put in perspective,
what Rory did on both fifteen, sixteen and seventeen in
(33:48):
the final round. Lou Stagner on X A terrific follow
if you love golf, He says, what he did was
one in twenty eight thousand, seven hundred chances the shot
on fifteen two hundred and seven yards to six feet,
the shot on sixteen one hundred and seventy yards to
nine feet, and the shot on seventeen one hundred and
(34:10):
ninety six yards to two feet. The chances that a
tour pro hits each of those shots as close as
he did one point nine to nine percent, seven point
nine to one percent, and zero point three seven percent, respectively.
He goes on, you should go read. I don't want
to read all the times, but it's unbelievable what he
(34:31):
was able to do under that crunch time. And you know,
just in those moments, its staggering, loose, stagger, staggering.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (34:40):
Yeah, we got to talk about this though. Guys Philly's
own at the Masters. Who is that guy playing with
Tom kim Right, Michael Philly Golf Royalty for a second,
Michael McDermott long dimeameters stand out from Marion. He stepped
in as a non competitive marker. They've been doing this
for forever. I think this was like his second or
third year.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
Knox used to be the guy.
Speaker 6 (35:00):
There's some great stories around Knox and how he beat
certain people. Supposedly Sergio never shook his hand after he
got beat by Knox. But first of all, how cool
is that a guy right from the Villa golf scene
getting a you know, just loop around Augusta during the Masters.
But he reportedly made five birdies and he absolutely held
his own along Tom Kim on on.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
Sunday, So yeah, it was Tom Kim's Saturday actually, and
he shot seventy two. That was That was Tom Kim's
low round of the week playing with McDermott, and he
called him a total baller, was how he described Michael
McDermott's golf game. He ended up playing I believe with
Brian Campbell on Sunday and he shot sixty eight, which
was his best round of the week playing Michael McDermott.
Speaker 6 (35:44):
Factor.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
How about that?
Speaker 3 (35:46):
I mean, and it's like he's not allowed to talk
to the media. Nope, No, he doesn't have the name
on the back. It's just the Masters.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
There's so much mistique and intrigue. I love just to
give it all Timmy. It is Timmy, just put it
on my bra seriously.
Speaker 6 (36:01):
I saw, I literally saw like a captain though on
uh on Instagram that's like, who's this guy playing with
Tom camp And I was like, that's McDermott.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
You talk about horses for courses. Right in the top twelve,
you have Patrick Reid. Yep, right, you have Zach Johnson.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
How about that on so Public Bubbla.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
Was in there too, right, Yeah, Bubba ended up three
or four under Para.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, but the Patrick Reid is it
is wild because you know, Harry, you and I were
heavily invested there.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
Oh yeah, he had a chance. Then he Eagles won
in the end.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
It's like, oh my god, if one of those putts
earlier and he's right in it. But you have Patrick Reid,
Scotty in fourth, right, he hung around.
Speaker 4 (36:43):
You thought he was going to take off. But there's
just a little bit of a stall with Scotty.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
I don't know if it's it's the injury still, but
the allergies, I don't know. Bryson goes all the way
down to T five, a guy that was leading the
tournament on Sunday late and you know, obviously the last
round to go out with some j M and Oberg
and the tea five position. Zach Johnson, Corey Connors, Jason
Day and Xander were the next group of guys, and
(37:06):
then Harris English and Homa.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
Who everyone was loving to see. Homa, you know, get
it get.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
It back a little bit at the Master That was
good to see, along with Mori Kallis Beith and Terrell
Hatton who was trending a lot in the beginning part. So,
I mean, the leader board was fantastic, as it always is,
but you know, it's so cool to see some of
the stories with these these guys that just go there
and just you know, play well and find their game.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Yeah, and we got the drama. We just didn't get
it from who we thought we'd get it to. You
We were so desirous of seeing this. You know, Rory
and Bryson matchup Mono Amano for eighteen holes and by
the end of you know, the first couple of holes, Bryson,
who had the lead, you know, got it tied in
the first hole with the you know, the these double
(37:48):
from Rory and the birdie from or par from Bryson.
And then the third hole, and I think that's where
it all went bad. He lays up with an iron
and almost puts it in the fairway bumper, and he
had like his stance was really close to the bunker.
He ends up making bogey there and Rory makes birdie
and the whole thing, the whole thing changed. I thought
(38:08):
he gave aways. It was like he gave away his power.
Speaker 6 (38:12):
Yeah, you know, if we're good here, I can. I
mean it's merging anyway. Masters to Tea. But I do
have to talk about Bryson sharing during his post round
final round interview with the Masters that when asked about it,
Bryson said, didn't talk to me once. He wouldn't talk
to me. Ry didn't say a word to him, and
(38:34):
Bryson just goes, he wouldn't talk to me, just being focused.
I guess it's not me though, But according to Rory's
sports psychologist Bob Raatella, this was part of Rory's plan
to stay locked and minimize distractions during such a high
stakes round. But if you watch that clip, Bryson was
just like, I like how Bryson like, it's pretty meticulous
(38:55):
and thoughtful. He doesn't he actually like thinks about how
he's answering questions, and you know he could he was like,
he didn't talk to me, Like I don't know, it
wasn't me. Maybe that was a strategy, but he's like
he just helped me.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
I thought.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
I think I think it was a strategy.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
I mean, listen what today Rory says he hates YouTube golf, right,
you know, Bryson doesn't have a family, like what they
have in common to talk about. But I think Rory
knows that Bryson would probably prefer to be like chatting,
chatting and having fun. And he's like, I'm not giving
that to him today. I mean, if that was part
of his strategy, it worked, like yeah, Tiger didn't talk
(39:33):
to any in his career.
Speaker 6 (39:35):
Yeah yeah, and then he's just yeah, but I thought
that was pretty good. I was definitely like amused. So
I mean, I think it was a great strategy, you
know what I mean, like major title on the line,
like what's not not we're not friends, We're not gonna
you know, just talk fluff here, just be quiet and
let meet.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Him my thing.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
Yeah, and what about brooks Koepka, did guy had a
buddy that had bunch of guys to make the cut,
and Kepka was the one guy that kept him from
winning a ton of money. Kepka was plus one through
thirty five holes. The cut is plus two and he
makes an eight on eighteen, an eight to miss the
cut by a bunch and then forget it. Don't forget
(40:18):
about Nick Dunlap shot ninety in the first round and
then comes back, doesn't withdraw like I would have, comes
back and shoots seventy one the second round and apparently
got major props from a lot of the guys in
the field that said, hey man, way to battle back.
That's really impressive.
Speaker 6 (40:35):
That was my next tea point.
Speaker 4 (40:37):
Talk about that real quick. What's worst? Shooting ninety or
peeing in Race Creek? Shooting ninety?
Speaker 3 (40:48):
The young fella Jose Luis Ballista right by a stair balistair.
Speaker 4 (40:53):
He goes out.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
People are mad because he has the upside down you
know sun Devil's hat on the start with. They're like
all up in our was about it? Next thing, you know,
my raised Creek. He had a day out there.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
He didn't know where the bathrooms were. You know, there's
a bathroom back there. On thirteen somewhere in the woods,
they have a they have a facility. He must not
have realized that, so he takes a leak in Raised
Creek right near the thirteenth t while they're finished, his
group is finishing up on the twelfth streen.
Speaker 3 (41:21):
He must have been pretty uh because there was no
footage of it or that that or or the master
said if you show this will kill you.
Speaker 6 (41:29):
I don't well see nobody has also the fact that, yeah,
I was that's the waste management. There seven videos of.
Speaker 3 (41:36):
Exactly yeah, yeah, you're getting full frontal.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
The people in the patrons in the stands by twelve
saw it and gave him a roaring round of applause
apparently when he finished. So imagine if they could have
had their phones. Daniel's right, it would have been all
over the place in three seconds.
Speaker 6 (41:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:55):
Why he has that story for life now, right, which
is amusing Scott.
Speaker 6 (42:00):
Yeah, you know this story isn't amusing, but I think
we do need to give him some credit because, like
everyone said, he could have easily withdrawn, and the broadcast
was saying it moved on like, oh, you know, my
wrist in my back, et cetera. So he did post
on his social golf period. Most humbling and humiliating yet
exciting and rewarding game there is, that's side. It was
(42:21):
a whole thing. And he said, one thing I learned
is to never quit, to always keep moving forward no
matter what it is, and in fact, it'll get better
and it'll be quite rewarding when it does. I'm like, Okay,
this is like, you know, Justin Roe speaking or somebody
that's like thirty five plus. This is a twenty twenty
year old kid speaking with some serious maturity and then
bouncing back with a sixty seven. So I thought was
(42:43):
kind of cool to show like how quickly the game
can just turn. And you know, this kid, I think
has a pretty solid career in front of him. It
seems like he has that mental strength there.
Speaker 1 (42:52):
Yeah, already has two wins.
Speaker 6 (42:55):
Yeah yeah, insane, insane crazy. Yeah, we did get this
in our producer working double time, just let us know
that Rory did commit to the truist.
Speaker 4 (43:06):
Oh good, that's right.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
Well, he's off this week, so I think he can
only take one of those elevated events off anyway, So
this is his week. He's probably drunk.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
And how about this breaking news we talked about It,
but yes, we will be broadcasting live along with Sean
Brace on Fox Sports to Gambler, a Daily Ticket and
Swing It and Ding It Combo and Danielle Matthews will
be live in person for the broadcast, coming in in person.
Speaker 4 (43:34):
We're still waiting to confirm.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
With our buddy Chad Mum if we're going to be
out for the Creator Classical on Wednesday. I know we'll
be out there, but you know, seeing what we're going
to do. And also stay tuned because I think we're
actually going to have some giveaways for some special viewing
with us at the Truest, So stay tuned with us
and Sean Brace on Fox Sports to Gambler because I'd
love to get out there with some of you guys
and have some fun.
Speaker 6 (43:54):
So excited and if you guys can just warm up
that weather a little bit for me, No looking forward
to the club. I'm excited. Let's go, all right, So
this one, we'll give you a little non masters will
take a break with that for five seconds. This is
I like looking for those staff that are just like
(44:14):
absolutely mind blowing that You're like, there's no chance and
I would like to see proof, but I guess there
is no proof in over twelve hundred rounds of professional golf,
Calvin Pete only hit one ball out of bounce. That's
not I didn't mess anything up, that's accurate. He was
just surgical. I guess this was before there was track
(44:35):
man swing coaches in every corner everything. He was leading
the PGA Tour and driving accuracy for ten straight years.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (44:43):
And he didn't even start playing golf seriously until he
was like in the twenties. So yeah, I just think
that's absolutely insane, like cool, calm, precise, like clearly allergic
to white steaks.
Speaker 1 (44:56):
Yeah, and that's what those persim and drivers, you know,
not a four hundred and sixty c sea head. You know,
he's got mini d he's got a sweet spot the
size of a penny.
Speaker 6 (45:07):
It's wild, wow, absolutely wild. Yeah, one ball out of bounds.
But all right, let's take it to Harbor Town. We
see Scottie. This is pretty cool. He's wearing the jacket
everything else, and uh, you know, he's giving us his
postmaster's vibe. He finished fourth at Augusta, as we said,
and he admitted he knew early on Sunday he wasn't
going to win. He said the adrenaline just wasn't there.
(45:30):
It was tough chasing from behind and instead of leading.
And he was talking about it in the presser and
it was kind of funny because he said, I think
he saw like justin Rose and he's like, okay, like
if he's you know, left or right or whatever, then
maybe you know, I step on the gas. But he said,
where you know, Rosie kind of hit it to foot
or something. He goes, all right, just he looked at
his cat agains, just aim for the middle of the green,
(45:51):
I guess, and pack up and get out of here,
like you know, and he's what he's been getting leaving
with the top ten, and he's still just like, well,
guess we're not, so let's just kind of go for
the middle of the green and then pack it up
and get out of here, which is just wild. But
then he goes on to like make it a little
lighter and joke about it, and he goes, you know,
(46:11):
the the adrenaline of a major or coming down the
stretch on a Sunday, you know, when you're in contention.
He's like, it's kind of like you know, getting arrested. Yeah, yeah,
I thought that was kind of funny that he had
a little humor and there were seeing a little more
of a Scottie's personality come out, which I don't think about.
Speaker 1 (46:28):
That he had a C game maybe that week and
still finish his top five interest.
Speaker 6 (46:33):
It's just scatty, like you know, like on like sixteen,
I guess we're not going to win. Just go for
the middle of the green. Let's pack it up like
what you're walking out of a major championship with the
top ten. You're like, you know, let's just let's just
play it safe and get out of here.
Speaker 3 (46:47):
Well, Daniel, you talked about only hitting one ball out
of bounds, but that's not us and most of our listeners.
So te off with top tier golf balls without the
top tier price. Buy my balls dot com op quality
recycled premium brands for a fraction of the price. Go
to buy my balls dot com. That's balls with a Z.
Harry May's our commercial is getting a lot of love
(47:08):
from this from the Greater Philadelphia audience.
Speaker 1 (47:11):
Oh great, Well, you know, powers were saying that it's
been very effective as far as for for sales apparently,
so that's good.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
You're here.
Speaker 6 (47:18):
Well, our people need to know we need to get
it outside the Philadelphia area and everywhere else. When you're
getting these incredible basically new balls at you know, half price,
it's a no brainer.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
This should be on iHeart national nationwide.
Speaker 4 (47:31):
Oh we are, we are in key markets. So it's
running up and down the East coast that commercial.
Speaker 3 (47:36):
It's it's not just running in Philadelphia, it's running on
streaming and podcast audio as well.
Speaker 6 (47:41):
So yeah, it's amazing. And my father in law was
raving about his new Z Stars.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
Oh yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 6 (47:48):
He's like, I'm never buying balls from anywhere else.
Speaker 4 (47:51):
I can't believe he has to to begin with.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
But exactly right.
Speaker 6 (47:55):
I thought that too, the fact that I'm like Brandon, yeah, well,
I mean, what are we gonna do ship balls up
to him, you know, when he comes down.
Speaker 4 (48:05):
Danielle, you mentioned you mentioned Harbortown.
Speaker 3 (48:08):
Now listen, it's it would be tough for any event
to be after the Masters. It is great that it's
a signature event because I think that just you know,
it allows them to roll and it's I think it's
cool because it's like, to me, it seems like such
a laid back place.
Speaker 4 (48:22):
It's it's such a difference between.
Speaker 3 (48:24):
What you just went from that pressure cooker into into
Harbortown golflings. But uh, you mentioned Scotty defending you had
fits one here before, Speith has won here before. Interesting too,
looking ahead ahead, I just checked the PGA Championship ods, right,
and all season it's been like Scotty in that three
fifty four hundred, and then Rory would be like seven fifty.
Speaker 4 (48:47):
It's now even Rory and.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
Scotty are blows both plus five hundred, and then everybody
else starts after them.
Speaker 4 (48:52):
So it's very it's interesting to see that you had
to take that.
Speaker 6 (48:56):
You had to take that today right now? Who are
you taking Scotty.
Speaker 4 (48:59):
Or Rory DGA?
Speaker 1 (49:01):
Right, yeah, just because well he loves that place, he
loves won there a bunch of times, so I would
probably I would probably lean that way too.
Speaker 4 (49:09):
Yeah, yeah, I think so.
Speaker 3 (49:10):
But Harry, let's talk about Harbortown Golf links with the
course of course.
Speaker 1 (49:15):
Yeah, sponsored by the Penn Club on second and Peak
Die designed way back in the late sixties. And actually
Jack Nicholas, uh you know, teamed up with Pete Dye
as sort of a you know, like an apprentice on
this facility. And this is where Jack really learned and
honed his craft, which would you know, eventually lead to
(49:35):
all these golf courses that he has designed, and you know,
including including down at you know, Hammock Beach. So Jack
learned from the from the great peat die at this
golf course par seventy one and thirteen yards. The average
green size moose the second smallest on tour to Pebble Beach,
(49:56):
three thousand, seven hundred square feet. These are tiny and
they're poa oversea. They're gonna stimp around eleven point five.
The approaches, fairways and rough are all bermuda, but with
a rye overseed. There's only fifty four sand bunkers and
strategically placed as peak dye as always did. Water is
in play on nine of the eighteen holes. There's two
(50:18):
par fives on the front, numbers two and five, and
only one on the back, and that's number fifteen. There's
four par threes four, seven, fourteen, and seventeen, and all
of them are lengthy. Number nine is a driveable par four,
which is a really cool way to end up the
front side. But man, everywhere you look, tight landing areas
(50:40):
off the tee very deceptive. I'll a peak dye, a
lot of dog legs, water and tiny greens. It's a
spectacular venue. It used to be the deep Exhale after
the Masters, and now that they've made it an elevated event,
it adds a whole lot more intensity.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
But there's no cut.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
Seventy two players will go out in Twosome's and they're
looks like they're going to have good weather throughout the weekend.
Speaker 4 (51:03):
Love it, love it.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
Sorry so we when we move into seeing the line
here talked about you got Scotty at plus three sixty,
then Morikala eleven hundred, Xander.
Speaker 4 (51:12):
At twelve hundred.
Speaker 3 (51:13):
Last year Scotty won it, he had Thigala, Wyndham, Clark,
Cantley and JT.
Speaker 4 (51:19):
We're in the top five. Cant Ley's has two two
third place finishes.
Speaker 1 (51:24):
Here, Amily's got a terrific record here, just.
Speaker 3 (51:26):
Never has won, and Thagala has actually performed pretty well
here as well. I actually I would take can't lay.
I think I am going to take Cantley at plus eighteen.
Speaker 4 (51:36):
Hundred, but I do like some matchups here too.
Speaker 3 (51:38):
How about Speeth plus one hundred over Hovelin Wyndham Clark
here who we just talked about has success minus won
ten over minwoo Lee and Oberg plus one twenty over
Colin Morikawa. A lot of people like Jane Lowry I'm
seeing this week. Also a little bit down the board,
a guy who you know, top five last week is
Sun Jay m. Looks like it looks like he shedded
(51:59):
a couple LB's he's seeing, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (52:03):
J plus four thousand, give me that number. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
And also way down the board, which I'm kind of
surprised because he has a decent history here. He's never
won here, but Brian Harmon, you know, he won just
a few weeks ago in San Antonio. This is his
type of golf course. He's finished second at the Players,
which is a great he died design. He's way down there.
Plus four hundred for a top ten looks pretty juicy
to me.
Speaker 5 (52:25):
J T.
Speaker 1 (52:26):
Poston plays really well here and he's from you know
that kind of area, lives down in Georgia on the
you know, in the Sea Island area. It's a lot
similar to that. Plus one sixty in a top twenty.
Speif has a terrific record here. You mentioned his win.
I think it's just one of those places, you know
where he can show up with his C game and
(52:46):
all of a sudden it turns into an as B
plus game and he plays really well. Plus one fifteen
in a top twenty. Can't Ley is the most used
guy in one and done's by far, and Speif is
the number two choice in all these one and done pools.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
So be awhere.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
I'm still really at a loss to take who to take.
Speaker 4 (53:05):
On a one and done this week? Yes? Do we
have to take take two tournaments this week? No?
Speaker 2 (53:12):
No, they don't. They don't.
Speaker 1 (53:13):
They didn't offer the perrales and punt, the Kana one,
nor any of the other alternate fields opposite field events.
I don't know why, but the site wouldn't allow it.
Speaker 4 (53:22):
Interesting. Another guy jumps out of me is Gary Woodland
plus sixteen hundred for a top five. That's a that's
a big number for him right on the board.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
Has been playing well and another guys that have I
think just haven't caught up to the to the sports
books yet. There guys like Bud Cawley who are still
down there right you can see having a good week.
Speaker 4 (53:37):
But yeah, this is a this is a fun one
to watch. I think it's it's it's.
Speaker 3 (53:40):
In a great place to be right after the Masters,
to still have a great amount of interest in a
tournament that people love watching, great viewing, beautiful course.
Speaker 1 (53:48):
So yeah, and hopefully Nance's allergies have subsided. Yeah, because
he hopes mentioning the calaboogie soundblievable, he'll bounce back, bounce back.
Speaker 3 (54:01):
All right, great stuff. Thank you to Lewis Jiovacini, golf
sales manager at Hammock Beach Resort. Can't wait to get
there this weekend and tell you guys all about it. Yeah,
and uh yeah, looking forward to to see and who
who has that postmaster's glow about them in Harbortown this weekend.
Speaker 1 (54:19):
So I know the green jacket is superior, but that
Tartan jacket is pretty.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
It's cool.
Speaker 1 (54:23):
Yeah, I like it very good.
Speaker 6 (54:25):
Thank Scott in it today or on the on the press,
I was like, that's a sweet jacket.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
Yeah, let's see if your tailor Rabini has any tartan
jacket he can hook you up with me.
Speaker 4 (54:35):
I'm sure, I'm sure.
Speaker 6 (54:36):
I want to see Mo's closet.
Speaker 4 (54:40):
Now. If I could just say the same size, things
would be better. There you go, all right, we'll be
back next week. Thanks for listening, but
Speaker 2 (54:48):
Listen, Swing it and dang it.
