Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi. I am Sylvia Moss, and this is Insight, a
presentation of iHeartMedia, where we really do care about our
local communities and all our listeners who live here. I
was thinking, why do so many of us wait until
the last minute to do things, especially important things like
well paying our taxes, going to a doctor or a dentist,
paying a certain bill, or even returning an important phone
(00:22):
call one way or the other. We know there's going
to be something negative that comes out of our lack
of action, but we still put things off. Case in point,
Pennsylvania enacted the real ID in May of twenty twenty one,
and as of about two weeks ago only get this
twenty seven percent of Pennsylvania's had gotten their real ID.
(00:42):
So for all you procrastinators out there, this shows a
reminder that if you don't get the real ID by
May seventh, you'll need another federally accepted ID, such as
a passport military ID, and you're going to need it
to board flights and go in certain federal facilities. When
I heard about all these people that and get their
real IDs, I wondered why, So I did my own
(01:04):
little Central PA survey, and boy was at an eye opener.
Out of about twelve people that I questioned about whether
or not they got it, here's what some of them
had to say. Three people told me that if you
work for the state, you don't need one. Then four
people said that if you don't need to get a
real ID until you renew your license, and to tell
(01:25):
me the deadline was moved beyond May seventh. One said
that the government already had enough of his private information,
and the remaining tool told me they got it a
couple months ago. Wait, I see it. The issue of
real IDs really gets down to two things. People are
experts at procrastinating, and as I've said so many times
on the show, you need to take five minutes, no
(01:46):
matter what the issue is, to educate yourself because chances
are things aren't the way you think they are. Guess what,
Amy and Aba, she's incredible. She's with us today. She
is a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Department Transportation. Didn't do
anything about your procrastinating, but she sure can provide us
up with some real good information about real ID.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
So thank you Amy my year for coming in.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
This is going to be a good win because I
went over this information and over and over and some
of it's kind of confusing. So let me ask it
to start from the beginning. Congress May said that we
had to switch to real IDs when nine to eleven?
Speaker 2 (02:23):
After nine to eleven, is that how it was?
Speaker 3 (02:26):
I know it was several years ago, because I believe
that they were looking at it like even like twenty
years ago. But that that's a question that's best for
the federal government and ployee.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
You know, well, let me ask you this, why why
do we need an extra layer of security?
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Well, it's just too like it's a federal law and
it's the federal government decided that they wanted to. It
was passed by Congress in two thousand and five, and
it's sets it set specific federal minimum standards for state
issued driver's license and photo IDs.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Okay, that that makes a lot of sense to me,
especially after all the issues with terrorism in this country.
Do all states have to have the real IDs?
Speaker 3 (03:05):
Well, yes, I believe they have to have it in
some form, But that's also a question. Best let ask
of the other states, because I know in Pennsylvania were
an optional state, which is why you know we currently
have a like you had mentioned a twenty seven percent
adoption rate. So as an optional state, that means Pennsylvanians
can choose whether or not they want to get a
(03:26):
real ID. And like you had mentioned, if they don't
get a real ID, photo ID or driver's license, they
need another form of federally acceptable ID, such as a
valid unexpired passport.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Okay, and I want to talk about that.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
But first of all, as far as real IDs, if
you don't have one and you have one of those
other forms of ID, like a current passport, what what
is it going to allow you to do or can't do?
Like my biggest thing is when I thought about it,
because I'm going to Florida to see my son, and
I'm thinking, Holy don't you I'm going to Florida and
(03:59):
I don't have this to get this done, So I'm
not going to be able to If I don't get
it done by May seven, I'm not going to be
able to get on the airplane.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Right.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Well, unfortunately, you will need either a real I D
photo ID, driver rocks driver's license, or another form of
federal acceptable DOT ID in order to fly domestically enter
certain federal facilities that require a federally acceptable ID or
military base.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
What are some of they talk about these federals like
the Federal Building. What else where else can't you go?
And can go on a military base?
Speaker 3 (04:31):
That's actually an excellent question, and I would highly suggest
visiting the Department of Homeland Securities websites so they could
answer all those questions about what what you need it for.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
So, if you're a driver and you're eighteen or older,
you got to have one of those forms. Okay, but
it makes sense to me because if you have a
real ID, why you don't have to worry about all.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
That other stuff?
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Right, Well, if you have a real idea, like, for example,
suppose I have well and I do have my real ID.
Better if so, if I'm traveling to California, say, and
I need my real idea to get it to fly domestically,
what I could do is just bring my driver's license,
which I'm going to have it when I drive to
the airport, and then I'm gonna if I want to
(05:15):
rent a vehicle in California, I just have one document.
So that's the beauty.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Part of having that really, Yeah, in your purse is
a lot thinner y. Yeah, God's can ladies worry about that?
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (05:26):
What about kids.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
I believe kids can travel with their parents U with
a guardian. But I do know that in some in
UH people under the age of eighteen as well can
get a real idea of providing they supply the appropriate documentary.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Well, it makes sense because if your kids sixteen year
every driver's license, and we know this is for security.
We know there have been a lot of kids in
the in this country who've done some shooting up and
you know it's you got to have that if you're
sixteen years old, I would think.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Well you could. You could choose. And again in Pennsylvania
were an optional state, so you could choose whether or
not you want to get a real ID or or
a regular driver's license.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Okay, okay, now here's the deal. I want to find
out how you can get it, because I went online
first of all, and this confused me a lot.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
I'm not gonna lie I to you.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
The first way you can get when is you got
to go online exactly where.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Visit our website. It is d MV, dot PA, dot gov.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Okay, you can beat what they call pre verified online.
What does that mean pre verified?
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Well, if you obtained your first driver's license or photo ID,
after two thousand and three, we may have your documents
already on file, and if that's the case, you can
check by going to the pre verification link online and
filling out that form which would would let you know
(06:52):
if you if we do have your documents and if
you do. If we do, then you could order your
real ID online.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Oh my god, I didn't even realize. How don't it?
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
The other thing is, well, let me ask you this.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
If you do do it online, how do you have
to pay for it?
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Yes, and a real idea is a one time thirty
dollars fee.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Okay, But if you're renewing your driver's license at the
same time, you have to pay for that. But you also,
if you renew it a lot of times, you're gonna
have to chase your picture taken, so you're gonna have
to go down to the.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
The You gotta really start through this stuff, Okay.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
If you choose to do it that way, how long
does it take to get your real idea?
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Within fifteen business days?
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Another thing you did was you had for quite a while.
You had it was on Saturdays now every Monday, and
I think this show is going to air this weekend.
So what you have every money where you have these
real ID centers, right, so you go in, you have
to have all your documents and we're going to talk
about that in a second. And you've had some pretty
(07:57):
long lines over the last couple of weeks because I
people have told me about that. But you can walk
away if you have everything cool, that's that day you
can walk away with your real ID.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Right.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Well, during our real ID day events, those are held
on Mondays, we are opening over fifty driver's license centers.
So that is when you go in and you present
your documents and everybody they review it, image it, and
you can get your your real ID. However, you will
get it mailed to you within fifteen business days. But
(08:29):
if you go to one of our same day real
ID Driver's license centers, and we have fifteen of them
throughout the Commonwealth, you can walk away with your real
ID that the day of service.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Oh I'm so confusing.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Okay, So if I go on one of those days
that you have like specifically for that, and I have
everything in line, it's going to take two weeks to get.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
It fifteen business Dyes, that's up to fifteen.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
But if I go to the regular what we call
penn dot like down here, okay, on where's over in Youinola?
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Yes, I believe it is okay.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
With all my stuff, I can walk away with my
real idea, Yes, because it makes sense to because what
if you need your picture taken when are renew it
and stuff like that. So okay, So how long is
this going to last where you have your real real
I D Days?
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Well, so far, we're going to have another Real I
D Days event on April twenty eighth. Yeah, that's or
next week again, and then we also have another one
schedule for May fifth.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Okay, and you said, let me ask you this here
in our in the Harishberg area when people think of
pandat the quickest place they think about is Summerdale Plaza, right,
But how many did you.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Say that you have available sites to do.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
That the same day? Relay D centers are fifteen?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
We have fifteen fifteen and they're on the website. Yes, okay,
that's pretty great. And you're gona print them out because
I printed that out. Let's talk about what you're gonna need.
First of all, you're gonna need to prove what there's
certainly that's it you got to prove certain things. You're
who you are, right.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
Sorry, Yes, so you need to show proof of identity,
which that is in the form of a certified copy
of your birthd certificate or the original birth certificate. It
has to have the raised embossed seal and it also
has to be issued by the authorized government agency. So
a lot of times, and I just wanted to let
you guys know a lot of times some people are
(10:14):
bringing in their birth certificates that have the feet the
and that's just the momentum.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
Yeah, so that's not the official birth certificate. So you'll
need that official original or certified, but you could also
show a valid unexpired passport as your proof of identity.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
As wait, back of a second, I don't have a
copy of my birth certificate with the seal on it,
but I had the original from the eighteen hundreds, the original.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Would that work?
Speaker 3 (10:47):
If it's the from the official government entity, then yes,
that will as long as it has that raised seal
on it.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
If I need a copy of my birth certificate, you
guys make that pretty easy too, don't you.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
I believe us to the Department of Health, so yes,
and on our website we have links to that.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
And you send it in all the information and I
think it's like twenty or thirty bucks to get that,
and they are let you know where they are with it,
and then a couple of weeks you get your ID.
So if you're planning on doing this, you don't have
a burth arch, you better get off your rent. How
about proof of your Social Security number? You're going to
need that too.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Yes, So in addition to proof of identity, you need
proof of Social Security number, and that's in the form
of your Social Security card or it could be a
W two form or of several other documents that are
on our website. However, one thing I really want to
stress is the other. If you show your W two,
it has to have your name as well as show
all nine digits of the Social Security number.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
That's smart, that's smart. Okay, you have to prove you
live here, right, how do you do that?
Speaker 3 (11:48):
You also have to show two proofs of current Pennsylvania residents,
and that is either in the form of your driver's license,
an unexpired driver's license, or like a Pennsylvania vehicle register, straation,
auto insurance card, or utility But.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
That makes sense. That's easy enough to get. What if
you changed your name? What if you're married ten times?
Speaker 2 (12:08):
What do you have to do to prove?
Speaker 1 (12:10):
I mean, you already have your maid name if you're
now This is just for women because most most of
the time guys don't change their names.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
But what do you do then?
Speaker 3 (12:17):
Well, you know, for example, like you do have to
show your certified marriage certificate and any like court orders,
adoption decree, that kind of thing. If you have an
unexpired valid passport, you don't have to show that because
if you're showing that, say me, I was, I'm married.
(12:37):
So if my passport has my current legal name, all
I have to do is show my passport, then my
my Social Security number, and which would my Social Security
card would have my current legal name on it as
well as my current physical Pennsylvania address. Then I don't
have to show my marriage certificate because I'm not showing
my birth certificate. So but if you do show your
(12:59):
birth certificate, like my maiden name is different than my
married name. I did have to show my marriage certificate.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Okay, but what if your divorce you don't have to
do that because who cares?
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Well, if you're if you go back to your original name,
your birth name then and the divorce decree says that
then you do have to show your divorce decree.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Okay, boy, it's always the loads, always on us girls,
isn't it.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
But you know what, our website explains all of it,
because yes, and there's a lot of different scenarios when
it comes to name changes. So I would just highly
suggest people go on to the website and see what
applies to them.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Okay, I want to ask you.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
You know, I talked about those replies that got from people,
and I want to I want you to follow up
on them if you don't, if you don't mind. First
of all, I said, three people said, if you work
for the state, I don't need to get it.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
I work for the state.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Truth false, No, that's not true. You ever, you know,
like I work for the state and I have a
real ID. I mean I chose to get a real ID.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Okay. There were a couple of them said that that
you guys moved the deadline.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Oh, we didn't move the deadline. That would be the
federal government.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
So unless the federal government comes out and says it's
still May seventh, Okay, this.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Cracking me up. And it sounds so typically a lot
of people in this area.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
They said that the government has enough on my private information.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
I'm not going to give.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Them any more what's there. It doesn't make any difference,
does it. It's the guy said to me, they have
a database, they're storing this, and blah blah blah blah.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
That's not true.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Well no, I mean, we just you know, we handle
all datas very carefully, and we're very we're very sensitive
to people's information, so it's very protected and secure.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Do you think that people are the people that don't
like I said twenty seven percent a couple of weeks ago.
Do you think that people are think they's going to
be extended or you know what I'm saying, Why are
people waiting?
Speaker 3 (14:49):
I'm not sure. I mean, I think maybe people are
just feeling like they either have a passport, they have
another form of ID, or maybe they feel like, well,
I don't I never flied domestically, and you know, I
don't need it. You know, it's it's just it's a
personal choice, and I think maybe some people are making
that decision.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
And what people don't realize too is yet you may
have a passport, but you better make sure that's up
to date. And that takes way longer than it takes
to get a real in d doesn't it.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
I'm not sure?
Speaker 2 (15:18):
I think trust me does it?
Speaker 3 (15:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (15:20):
While does it?
Speaker 1 (15:23):
What? I'm sure people call you, people talk to you.
What are they most confused about?
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Well, it's just the documents. I think that everybody wants
to make sure that they have the appropriate documents, which
makes sense. So the one thing, the best piece of
advice I give it to people is make sure you
prepare and prepare advance and go on our website and
see what documents that you have. Do a document inventory.
That's what I did when I got mine, and I
ordered the necessary documents I needed, and I got prepared
(15:50):
and then I always have those documents.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Now, that's right.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
As we do, we all wait for the last minute,
but PENDOT makes it really easy for you.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Everything you need to know is on the website. And
what is the website.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
The website is DMV dot PA dot gov.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
All you have to do is PA Department of Education,
Listener of Transportation.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Amy.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
I didn't tell any me I was going to switch
gears a little bit on that, but I want to
know what's going on at pen dot these days? They're
doing a big campaign to promote Pennsylvania And my favorite
slogan over the years was well they had I don't
know if they had for Pennsylvania. Yeah, like I said,
did Pennsylvania? America starts here?
Speaker 2 (16:28):
I love that? Is that? Mine correct on that?
Speaker 1 (16:31):
But you guys have new license plates coming out right.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Yeah, the places are coming out in a couple of months.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
So, and they're different because when they first come out,
from what I understand, it was a lot of focus
on Philly. Well, Pennsylvania's more than just Philly. So you
can get this and if you want to see what
they look like, they're on the website, but they feature
different areas of the state. You can still get the
vets one, you can still get the handicap on and
you can still get that.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
So what else is going on at pen dot?
Speaker 3 (16:59):
Well, going back to the plates, you know, yeah, people
should definitely visit our website check out all the different
plates that we have and they could get a lot
of information on the different organizations and different specialty plates
we have.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
So yeah, what else besides it? Can you think of that?
Like we all know, if you need to get a
new registration, if you need a title, if your new license,
and blah blah blah. What are the some of the
things that people don't realize that you can get from
ten dot.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Well, one of the things that I don't know if
a lot of people know this, but we do have
a lot of online services people can do, so, I mean,
and they could do it from the comfort of their
home and everything. So you know, we encourage people to
go to our website and check out what different business
that they can do conduct online.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Talk to us about some of those things.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Well, for example, they can complete online change of address
and everything, and this is for non commercial licenses and stuff.
They could do that for their licenses or IDs. They
could also do renewals and duplicates of their driver license
and ID cards. They could also pay their driver's license
restoration fees and obtain their driver history records. So and
(18:09):
there's a lot of other different activities or different transactions
they could do online. So I would just encourage your viewer,
your listeners to go online and see what other services
we have.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
What do you like best about your job? Tell me
that I just.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Love meeting people and talking to them and educating them
about it, like especially now with real ID, just you know,
getting that the word out about it and everything, because
you know, I just wanted to say years and years
and years ago when I was I was living in
Wyoming and I'm originally from Pennsylvania and when Wyoming first
got their real ID, I my boss had said to me, hey,
(18:47):
are you you know I want everybody to get a
real ID because I worked for the Wyoming Department and
Transportation and I was looking at it because I was
designing the brochure and I was like, wow, this is
a lot of documents. And my boss said to me, yeah,
it is, but just think amy, as soon as you
get those documents, he said, you're going to be set
and you'll be prepared. And I took that. No, and
I took that and I thought he's right present, right,
(19:09):
And that's what I try to educate people about in
my current role now because I just think it's important
to have for me as an individual.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Well, can you use that in Pennsylvania now you're Wyoming. No,
you can't do that. That's the only thing you have
to change then.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Yeah. So, I mean I came back to Pennsylvania and
I was living in Colorado. I got my real idea there.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
But you needed to sit on yourrange.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
But I think I knew what to expect and everything.
But the great thing about Pennsylvania, and I wanted to
say this, is those fifteen same day REALA D centers.
I got my license right then, I walked out with
my real I D. And when I was living in Iowa,
Wyoming and Colorado, they were all mailed to me. Even
(19:54):
when I got a regular driver's license when I first
moved to Iowa, before real I D, it was mailed
to me. But that's the great part of Pennsylvania and
pen dot is we have the options of having it
over the counter, like especially at those fifteen same day centers.
And I just think that's amazing.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Well, there's a lot of Pennsylvania things in Pennsylvania they
don't have anywhere else. What else it makes you happy
about this state? I could go on and on, but
what about you tell me?
Speaker 3 (20:19):
No, I just I love my job, and I love
talking to people, and I love helping people get the
information that they need.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
What do you think people are what's the biggest miss
misconception about where pen dot does?
Speaker 3 (20:32):
Well, I don't know. I mean I've only been in
my job for eight months now, working for Driver and
Vehicle Services.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
But you were a resident of the state. Yeah, like me,
I'm thinking, well, first of all, whence it starts snow
and look out?
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Well, I think that's everywhere, because I think a lot
of places, and in my time working in Wyoming it was.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
Oh, it must have been way worse. Well, no, actually
snow there.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
No, it was windier, wind deer, and believe it or not,
the interstate close a lot because of the wind because
it would be blowing in the prairie and everything like
that because you can't plow wind. Unfortunately.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
But one of the things that people complained about years
and years and years is the potholes.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Oh yeah, didn't you know that?
Speaker 1 (21:15):
No?
Speaker 3 (21:15):
I didn't.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
Oh, my girl, I gotta tell you some things here,
but I think didn't wasn't a lot. A lot of
it was addressed with the what what was that that
when President Biden was in the infrastructure bills that might
even go into the Department Does that go to Department Transportation?
Speaker 2 (21:32):
I would think it did.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
I'm not sure, but that's oh I got my unfortunately,
so I wouldn't be able to speak to that.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Well, you know what, we were talking about all these
wonderful things about our state.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
But you mentioned to.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Me earlier about the real A D Days and I said, Oh,
people procrastinate, but they're starting to work, aren't they. The
really real ID days been pretty effective.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Yeah, more people are coming to our centers for it
and everything, and you know people are coming there a
lot people are prepared. Like we had a press conference,
a real ID joint press conference in Erie, Pennsylvania, a
couple of weeks ago, and after the press conference, we
stopped at the Erie driver's license location and there were
(22:14):
you know a decent amount of people throughout the day
that just came in and got processed, had their documents
and everything, and you know, I don't know if you
ever smile when you go to a driver's license center,
but they seemed happy. They seemed like they were like,
you know, they got their their real ID. And it
made me happy seeing that relief.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
How about it. Didn't you get like twelve thousand people
at one of them?
Speaker 3 (22:36):
Yes, we got twelve thousand people.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Imagine that.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Yeah, recently at our April fourteenth event, and we weren't
we didn't have a real I D Day's event today
on the twenty first, but we're gonna have our next
one on the twenty eighth, on April twenty eighth, and
I'm hoping that more Pennsylvanians will come out and get
their real life.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Well, that's absolutely absolutely last minute because May seven, if
you're getting on a plane, you better have it, because
I don't think many people are going to go well,
some will go to a federal building, maybe on a
military place or you know, something like that, but most
people are going to get it because they're going to
get on a plane and fly somewhere around the country.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Right, Yes, that's correct. And one thing I did want
to say, because we're getting this a lot, people are
saying what happens if I don't get it by ye seventh?
And we will continue offering real IDs. So if someone
wants to come down now they can get a real ID.
They can get a real ID on May seventh, and
we will continue offering real IDs after May seventh as well.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Well.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
Amy, I don't know if you knew about this, but
I did a little bit of investigating about, Okay, what
happens if I don't get my real ID. I'm getting
on a plane it's late May seventh or May eighth.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
They're going to stop you.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
That's and these are a lot of these are bigger,
I mean humongous airports. You're not getting on that plane
because what happens that I understand is they're going to
pull you out and you're gonna have to fill all
this information. Well, chances are you're holding up the line
yet then people are going to be pissed. The second
thing is you're going to miss your flight, so you
better be prepared, right.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
That's why you know it's vital that people listen and
know that the May seventh enforcement date is fast approaching. Yeah,
And if they are going to be traveling around May
seventh and they still don't have their real ID, get
their documents together. Go to one of our same day
Real I D centers and apply for and get your
real ID.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
If you need your your birth certificate and it takes
a couple of weeks to get it online, can you
go to the department to help and probably get it
that day or day have that's something you'd have to
call the Department of Health. Same for Social Security, You're
going to have to call Social Security and get a
duplicate because they send it that in the mail, but
that takes a while too.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
Yeah, and I'm not sure, but I know from personal
experience getting my marriage license or certificate that because I
didn't have.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
It and I would maybe you're not married.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
I went down to the county and I got it that. Yeah,
I got it that's day. I just walked in, paid
the fee that I had to pay, which I don't
remember what it was, but I got it that day.
So but I don't know, unfortunately, and I apologize, But
with the Department of Health or Social Security, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
Well, it's easy enough to call and those numbers are
on the website.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
So okay, so let's review this real quick before rip.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
So people understand there's a couple different ways you can
get tell us height and get your real ID.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Well, you could go to any one of our driver's
license centers and just make sure you go on our
website and see what services they do provide, because some
of the centers are just photo only locations. But visit
our website, go to one of our driver's license centers,
check out the hours when they're open. Come to a
real I D Day event on a Monday that we're
(25:44):
holding them, or go to one of our fifteen same
day Real I D centers and you can get your real.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
ID, okay. And why of the reasons you're getting your
real ID, Well.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
You want to have your real ID to fly domestically
enter certain federal facilities that require a federal lie, acceptable
ID or military basis.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Okay, Amy, What is your website?
Speaker 3 (26:05):
It is DMV dot PA dot gov.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
And as Amy said earlier, all you have to do
PENDOT has all this information. They have a list of everything,
no matter who you are, what your situation is that
you're gonna need to take to get your real ID,
what the instructions are as far as what you're gonna need,
why you're gonna need it, and where all these locations
are where you can they'll take care of you.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
And that's pretty much about it. Amy.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
The only thing I can ask you one more time
is the website address, because if you don't have that,
I don't know where you're gonna start.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
It's a DMV, dot PA dot gov.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
And one last thing again, Amy, I gotta thank you
because you made this fun and straight and you all
brought out, sorry, straightened me out. That takes a lot
but thanks so much for the information. If you coming in,
that web address.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
