Speaker 1 (00:00):
When the on air mic goes off, the talk Talk begins.
It's Talk Talk with Martha Quinn.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
That's Christie taking a big old sip of her iced coffee.
I was taking a deep breath and that, you.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Know, I think everyone needs to. It's Mark, I look it.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
I'm going to do it too.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Feels good.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
It is as it is right now. It is as
it is.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
And it was how it was, but it is how it.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Is and it will be how it will be.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
That's so deep, so deep. You guys sound like.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Like one of those self healing life podcasts like Welcome
and Meditation and all the above.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
You know, we do have that side to us.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Though we do have that self help and meditative side
to us, We're not always squeaking and squawking over here.
So welcome to Talk Talk with Martha Quinn. This is
the podcast that unites the Marth Quinn Show, which is
me and producer Queen of Alaska's, and the Morning Drive
with Christy Live Crew, which is Queen of Alaska's and Christy.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Wooo, thank you so much so.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
The topic for this week's podcast was inspired by Angie,
a member of the Marth Quinn Show family, who let
me know her totally awesome news, which was that her
husband Ron had a cold. He'd had a cold for
a couple of days and he'd been out of work
but had to go back to work, so she was
surprising him by bringing homemade chicken soup to his work.
(01:30):
And I was thinking, it's so interesting how doing things
for someone else can turn out to be totally awesome news.
And then as those words were leaving my mouth, I
thought to myself, Oh no, I'm a slacker. I can't
think of the last good deed that I did, And
(01:53):
so I thought I would turn to you ladies, because
you ladies are always doing good deeds. What's the last
goded that you did?
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Christy James?
Speaker 5 (02:04):
I picked up a woman off the side of the street.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
How long ago is this?
Speaker 1 (02:09):
This was a few weeks back.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Okay, So what happened?
Speaker 5 (02:13):
It was really late at night, well not really late,
but it was dark in East Oakland and a bus
was driving by and it was drizzling, and I saw
the bus drive by this woman and I could see her.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Like running to try and catch the bus.
Speaker 5 (02:30):
And you know, I hate when the buses leave the
people when you can see them running to catch the bus.
It doesn't take long to like stop and just let
the person get on. She had her bags and she's
running and it's drizzling and it's dark, and I saw
her and the bus kept driving. So I pulled over
(02:50):
to the side of the road and I rolled down
my window.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
And I said, hey, sis, it's cool, get in. I'll
give you a ride.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
And I was just thinking, I'm just gonna drop her
off off at the next bus.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Stop to catch up.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
With the bus.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
And she was like, oh, thank you so much, thank
you so much. So she got in the car. And
when she got in the car and she shut the door,
she's like, oh, thank you so much. And as I
started to kind of like zero in on her, I
was like, ah, this woman is unhoused. And I kind
of looked at her clothes and her hair and she
(03:25):
had her bag and she was like, oh.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Thank you so much, thank you so much. Do you
want some pesto?
Speaker 5 (03:31):
And I said no, thank you, and she had a
jar of pesto in her bag.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
I was like, no, no, I'm cool, I'm cool. I
saw the bus leave you.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
She was like, yeah, man, that beep saw me and
he just kept on going. And I said, it's cool.
Do you want some pasta? And I said no, I'm good.
Thank you so much, because she had some dry pasta
in her bag as well.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
And I said, where are you going?
Speaker 5 (03:53):
And she said, oh, I'm just going up by the
lake to buy my weed.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
And I was like, oh okay.
Speaker 5 (04:01):
I said, well, you know, Lakeshore is only two exits
up from where we're going.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I said, I'll take you to Lake Shore and drop
you off. At Lake Shore.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
There's a gas station right off the freeway exit. I said,
you know what, I could just take her up the
road instead of trying to catch the bus. So she's
in the car and we passed the bus and she
rolls the window down and she yells at the bus.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
She's like, it was long.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
It was like an extended Maxie aha.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
And she said it from when she saw the bus
to all the way.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
When we got on the freeway and we're rolling and
I was like, Jesus, take the wheel.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
We just got two exits, aha. And we went the
two exits and I pulled over.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
We had a wonderful conversation about like world happenings.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
She was very articulate.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
She was really really smart and we had like a
super deep conversation and it was interesting because I'm like,
I wonder how she ended up in this situation, uh huh,
because I'm talking to her and maybe it was mental
illness and maybe that's kind of it. But she was
really smart and very articulate and intelligent. And then I
(05:14):
dropped her off at the gas station and she was
like thank you, and I said, have a wonderful evening.
And then it's funny because the next day I was
like driving around near Lake Mary and I saw her
and I.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Was like, Okay, that was homegirl, I get it right
to so.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Yep, that was the last I would say, good outstanding deed.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
And I bought produce a cream of coffee this morning,
Yeah she did.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
And then I also want to say, though, for people
that don't know, this is not the first time Christy
has picked up random people on the side of the road.
It's very brave of you, very very.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Brave of you. I'm like a reverse hitchhiker.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
That is fascinating.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
Give us a quick sample of a topic that you covered.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Do you know her name?
Speaker 1 (06:03):
I forgot her name. I forgot her name.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
All right, a sample of a quick topic, maybe that
you brushed upon that you were like.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Wow, this is wild. The United States economy. We were
talking about the state of.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
The economy and you know, the price of gas and
how things are very different in the world today. It
was a really interesting conversation. But yeah, that was one
of the topics we covered.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Fascinating, yes, fascinating.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Jesus, take the wheel.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
It's only two exits.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Oh man, I said, oh, here we go.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
That's so nice of you, though, Oh good, and you know, like,
come on the buses.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
They gotta leave on time. They do.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
But you have to understand the circumstance. Like it was
not the best part of town where she was running.
It was kind of near Mills College, and there's a
kind of a steep roundabout that circles the college that
goes up onto the free way around this curve because
you can come down the hill.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
People are speeding.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
People are going up the hill and they're speeding because
they're trying to catch this light. And it's dark so
you couldn't really see her and it's like drizzling, So
why didn't you be like, okay, out of the corner
your I see this woman running with bags. You know,
she's trying to catch your bus. Come on, what about you,
(07:26):
producer Karina.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Let's see.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
I think the most recent one, and what I like
to do is when I see people, especially elder people,
when I go to the grocery store and they're outside
and they're loading their trunk. So I did that recently
with a woman that I could tell she was trying
to lift heavy stuff into her trunk. So then I
asked her, Oh, do you need help, and she's like, yeah, okay,
even though it's small stuff, but I like to offer
(07:53):
them help. So I offered her help outside of the
safeway by my house putting things in her trunk. And
then she's like, look, looking for a place to put
the cart, and I'm like, I'll take it back for you.
If I see people that are already unloaded a cart,
then I'll take the cart back for them if I'm
going inside the store.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Does that make sense? Yes? Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
So I loved the same too, but I'm always a
little like I prefer to do it when it's sunny
out because it's like a little germ conscious. But I
like that too because I try not to ever ever
leave my cart out in the parking lot.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Though when my kids were little.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
I did do it more frequently because I felt like, well,
it's a choice between my leaving my kids alone in
the car or leaving the cart out in the parking lot.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
I would leave the cart out in the parking lot sometimes. Yeah,
that was so nice of me. I did appreciate that, Karina,
when you helped me.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
I know it easy. He was so silly.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
I did offer to buy Christy coffee this morning, but
she bought me coffee, so that was.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Like almost I did go get ice for you the
other day. Huh.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
And I think you probably can think of more good deeds,
Martha Quinn.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
You just went on a whole family vacation to New Zealand.
I'm sure if you footed any of the bill for.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
Your daughter's wedding, or had a dinner with the family
and paid for things, or.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Maybe help somebody get ready if they needed it.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Or maybe you're just just just doing a good deed.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
Okay, this is what You're just a horrible person arranging
this there.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
It doesn't help anyone. Okay, No, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
What about doing a good deed for a fur baby?
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Oh? Oh that counts. Oh, I guess that counts.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
It does count because a lot of times they can't
do for themselves.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
That's very true.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Exactly. Well, this actually sort of ties into us. The
three of us have these pomp pom hats. San Francisco,
forty nine. I was feeling bad for little Bonita, Karina's Chihuahua,
and I found a little pom pom hat.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
I don't know how for Bornita. Where you found that hat?
Speaker 4 (10:10):
Well, I was actually what was it? I was looking
up Paris Hilton dog clothes.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Why, I forget why what?
Speaker 4 (10:20):
I was going to tie it into something that I
was talking about, And I was quickly looking up Paris
Hilton dog clothes. This popped up, this little hat, this
little chiuaua pom pom hat popped up, and I was like,
I cannot resist.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
I cannot resist this. It's cute though.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Yeah, Benita liked it for like two seconds and was like,
all right, let me try to get this off.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
Yeah, it was long enough to get a picture, an
embarrassing picture that will stay with her forever.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Oh man, we're a dog watching right now, we're dog sitting,
and so I wanted to try to put it on
that dog, but it didn't fit.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
What do you mean it was too big.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Yeah, the dog is like a maltee, so she's a
little bit too big.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
I know the dog is too big or the hat
is too big, the dog is.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
The dog's head is too big for the beanie.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Oh, she looks so tiny in pictures.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
She does.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
But I was like, let me not force this pompom
beanie on her.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
And she's so simple, she's so cute.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
We're watching this dog Porsche and she literally will let
you do anything to her, like you know, they brought
her with clothes, so I put on her little clothes
and so she doesn't care. She just rolls over and
lets you do it. But I wasn't gonna try with
the pom pom. But it was really nice of you
to give it to Bonie.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Well, she had to be an honorary you know, one
of last trays of me. Guess we had to have
a little honorary mascot.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
That's her. Yeah, Christy, do you want to say what
you said when you saw Benita in that?
Speaker 5 (11:53):
I said, she's probably mad that she had this hat one.
It's yeah, it was cute though. It was a thoughtful idea,
but I said, dogs do not want it started with.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
The oh hell nah, no, you did not put that
on a nada, and I said, Martha Quinn gave.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
It to her.
Speaker 5 (12:08):
She was super excited when the package came and I
was like, what is that.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
And she was like, it's a hat for Bonita.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
And I was like, oh gosh, here we go. Dogs
did not need clothes. And I could see Martha Quinn just.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
That's what Christie, That's what it was. It was a
wellness shot that I was doing. And somebody at the
Humane Society I forget where Saint Louis or Seattle was saying,
if you have a dog like Bonita who's got just
short little hair and it's cold outside. Because I was
(12:42):
always like that too. Dogs do not need sweaters. Dogs
do not need clothes, and this guy was saying, your
dog might need a sweater in the wintertime if they're
thin haired dogs. So that's why I was looking up
the Harris Hilton dog clothes. Then I saw the pomp
(13:03):
Pom hat. But our dog Bueller, he could be outside
in the freezing called he does knock care at all.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
He wouldn't need any kind of clothes.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
I know.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
Little Bonita she did need a hat, Christy.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
She did the hat, and I was saying we should
sew a little San Francisco Giants patch on her hat match.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
That is a great idea. No, yeah, I'm going to
do that.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
Lady Karina and in San Francisco who makes the hats.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Oh, I think she'll put it on.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
I can have my mom sew the patch. She so
to patch a forty nine ers patch on for Christy
on a jacket. My mom can sew.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Well, you did mention that before, and I'm guessing it
hasn't happened. Let's get that together because Bonito just texted
me that she doesn't like it because it doesn't have
the Giant's logo. She doesn't want to be the only
one without the Giant's logo.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
That's why she doesn't like it.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
There you go, well, Christy, fascinating Karina, nice work with
the coffee.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
And Martha Quinn, great work giving the hat and being
kind and thoughtful to animals, which you always are.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Yes, you are well.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
Sorry Chrean, I forgot about you loading the groceries of.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
Like.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
