Speaker 1 (00:00):
Kiss FM one A two point seven to see Chris
with you. All right, We've been talking about him for
years and now he's joining us this morning. I'm Chase Stokes,
who's in a new movie also from Outer Banks, joining
us right now. Look at that there he is as promised.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
How are you, bro, how you guys do it? Good
to have you on with us.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Thanks for having me man, of course.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Okay, so we have a lot of things. You know,
you're a constant topic of conversation around here.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Good things.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Okay, Thank god.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
I see myself and I look in the mirror when
I see you and I see me.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
You know, it's thank God.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yes, it's remarkable. I say, I want to be Chase
Stokes on a daily Is that your real name?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
It is? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Wow, what a blessing.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Thanks Mom and dad.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
I guess well, the story behind it is my first name,
I'm James, but I've never been called James.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
James.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
I think the way the story goes was also like
the next boyfriend, and so my dad was like, I'm
not going to do that.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
We're just gonna go with Chase.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
So it was always fun in high school being like, no,
I'm not James I'm Chase Chase.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Well, I mean it is the kind of perfect actor name,
isn't it.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
I'll take the job.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, I mean it really is. Well, you do such
great work.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
We've been watching you over the seasons of Outer Banks.
I mean, Tany and Sisney would say the word obsessed
about it. Well, it's one of those shows where you
can't just watch an episode and then go go back
to it in a week.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
You binge it because every episode is like a cliffhanger.
So thank you for that.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
You're welcome.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Yeah, I've heard often like thank you for my sleep
deprivation class factories a little bit partially responsible for a
lot of lack of sleep.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
But you know, it is it is interesting how the
human body works. Like you get to the end of
the episode and as it's getting ready to wind down,
you tell yourself, this is it.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
I have to stop. I have to go to bed.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
And then somehow you cannot discipline yourself enough to stop
watching it.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
You can yep, Yeah, I get it.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
I'm watching Dexter right now and I'm navigating that myself.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Right, It's three o'clock in the morning and I'm still
watching the show. Turn it off. Chase.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Well, congratulations on Mark Man Rulin show is in theaters Wednesday.
You can check that out. And you're playing a tattoo artist, Tidy.
It seems to think you've learned the skill for real?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Is that the case?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
No, Actually a story about this film.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
We did tattoo training and one of my cast members
gladly sacrificed his body to offer up some skin the tattoo,
and I butchered it so bad, so terribly bad, like
just doing a straight line, not in my wheelhouse. So
he has a very lobsided sea turtle on the start.

(02:55):
I feel like it's my responsibility to now offer him
a cover up.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
What do you how do you cover up a sea turtle? Yeah,
how do you cover a sea turtle? What are the
go tos?

Speaker 3 (03:06):
I don't I don't know where it came from. I
just said, all right, I'll do it.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
So now he has a very lobsided sea turtle on us.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
It's a isn't it dangerous to do that to somebody
not knowing how to do that?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yes? Right?

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Well, fortunately for us it was a part of the
training and Nick Cassavetties, who directed this He's covered in tattoos,
had to toe and he wanted to really authenticate it.
So we found a very traditional style tattoo shop in
Bulgaria where we shot the movie, and they graciously allowed
us another shop and showed us how to prepare the
tattoo guns and how to operate them. And it was

(03:49):
a process to it, but unfortunately, I just I couldn't
figure it out.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
You're a good.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Obviously, you get a lot of things thrown your way
and you get to choose what you want to do
in these times. What was it about this movie that
struck you?

Speaker 3 (04:05):
You know, first and foremost it was Nick.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
I'm such a fan of him as an artist, and
he is like a real true storyteller. But I think
just really diving into a guy that is not willing
to forgive himself, I think that's something that feels pretty
universally relatable. And meeting somebody who sees you despite the
flaws and the highs and mos that you bring to

(04:29):
the table, and not wanting to change you, but help
you accept yourself with all of those things and sort of,
instead of change, help adjust. And it felt really real,
It felt really fresh, and you know, you can't really
turn down an opportunity to work with with the guy
who did the Notebook.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah, I mean it's like every we've obviously seen that
a million times and it gets to me every it
could tingly knows every single time I watched that movie.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
He's a Legend's cutting onions in the kitchen.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah, he's a legend. Marked Men Rules and Shaw is
in theaters this week. What when you're not working? What
do you like to do? Like?

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Are you do you like to travel? You cook?

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Like?

Speaker 2 (05:10):
What is what is your vibe? I?

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Truthfully, I like to do as little as possible. I'm
a big couch surfer, Like I just love to be home.
I've got two dogs and my girlfriend and I you know,
we just really have prior to getting into like this
press round and she's about to go on the road. Kelsey,
the big thing for us to just be present and
be still, so spending time with family and getting more

(05:35):
time with my mom and my siblings and her side
of our family as well. So I think, honestly, like
I've really enjoyed kind of finding that balance.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Do you guys have to I mean Kelsey's Ballerini, the
artists we're talking about, do you have to like plan
ahead six months to figure out your schedules.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
There's got to be like something differently.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Have like a planner in our lives. Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Yeah we sit down and say, okay, here's here's the
next you know, chunk of time. You know, but we
we really just focus on like, okay, let's sit down
every week and figure out what we have coming well,
time we have available if we're in the workflow, like
how do we get to one another wherever?

Speaker 2 (06:11):
That is?

Speaker 4 (06:11):
So it's it's definitely a little bit unconventional with our
career choices, but you know, we find a way to
make it happen.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Chase Stokes with us. Great to have you on, man,
thanks so much for making the time. Good luck with
this movie and we'll hopefully talk to you soon.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Awesome, thanks for having me.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
God hair is good, so good. It's really good. Product
you I didn't realize you could hear me. What product
do you use?

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Honestly, it's called Days of Dirt?

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Okay, thank you stocking stuff for days of Take it care.
I got to see you later bye, all right. Coming
up next, we got to do leap the tickets sad
