Speaker 1 (00:00):
One to two point seven Kiss FM.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
Well, Zindeia is here as expected, punctual to the minute, Yes,
on time, try I try, I mean a well oiled machine.
This show and our guests, so Zindia. We were actually
just reminiscing before we get into life as you know
it right now. We were reminiscing about the first time
that you were here in the studio on this show,
(00:25):
and it was twenty twelve. Oh wow, it was twenty twelve.
It was you and Bella Thorne and I'm just gonna
play a little clip of it because you had.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Oh no, no, it's not it's great.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
The clip is great because you had wisdom and a
vision at fifteen years old when you were here. Listen
to Zendaia from twenty The Zendaa you know from the
billboard I drive past all the time is z Indaya
twenty twelve.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
It opens up a lot of doors for you to
do what you've always wanted to do. And it's not
just like we're going out there and doing acting. There's
other things. There's other platforms that we're able to step
onto and join. And I think everyone has their own
career path and me and Bella. Have had an amazing
time so far, and I just can't wait to grow
up and just have fun.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
So you knew exactly about this movie back then.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Grow up and have fun not what we all want.
I wish it was that simple, right.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Does it seem like that was so long ago?
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Absolutely? Yeah, that was that was I mean I was
a baby, you know, and now I'm knocking on thirty,
so it's a little bit it's different.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Did you did you got your past? What like?
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Did you visualize I mean, obviously that's very young, but
when you're in early twenties, do you sort of visualize
a path for the different things creatively that you wanted
to do, the things you wanted to accomplish, or how
you'd like to be known.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Absolutely, I think when you're when you're younger. I mean,
I don't know if it's I think for me it's
I had a you know, like a it's a complicated
relationship with being like a child actor, you know, because
you don't really exactly know what you're signing up for,
you know, but you're just doing it and it's it's
(02:08):
hard to think about, you know, much else because you're
a kid, you know, you're just doing what you do
and every day. You know, days are longer because it's
it's a it's a smaller portion of your life at
that time. You know, a bigger portion of your life
at that time, you know, and as you get older.
I think for me, it's been more about you know,
(02:28):
your your purpose changing, right, It's like you know, when
you're a kid, you don't really have that insight yet,
but I think over time, just wanting to be happy
and joyful and make things that I'm proud of and
searching for that things that stretch you and and push
you creatively. And you know it's ah, I don't know.
(02:51):
You just you just grow and you find out what's
most important. I think that that joy and and and
what you do if you becomes the priority.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Well you've definitely found something in Challengers that has resonated
as the number one movie in America. Congratulations. Yeah, yeah,
so you you you hear about this. You read a
script that like that initial moment for you and Challengers,
What was it? And how did you know this was
something that struck you in a unique way.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
I mean it was just like it jumped out of
the page, you know, like I think it was so
brilliantly written, and it was it almost felt like every
scene was like a tennis match, you know, it had
this intense back and forth, and these characters were so
complicated and messy, and and and again. Back to what
(03:42):
I was saying before, is like, you know, wanting to
have jobs or take roles that that push you creatively
and inspire you and sometimes scare you a little bit.
And I think that this character definitely did that, and
I it seemed like a challenge and a way to
(04:03):
grow up and.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Have fun, you know. Is that part of it too, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Right, that's part of it too, But yeah, I think
it was just yeah, I mean the script. It starts
with the script, and then you know, from there. Obviously
the opportunity to work with Luca Guadinho, who's incredibly talented
and I'd want to work with him for you know,
many years, and being a fan of his work, and
this also being I think a challenge for him as well,
something new that he had hadn't quite taken on before.
(04:31):
And there was like a clear vision from the beginning
of the kind of movie we wanted to make. And
so I don't know, it's just like all the pieces
kind of came together the right way they needed to.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Today is on with us here.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
What do you when you're always say when you're in
the wild, like when you're out in the wild, like
you're in real life, real world, what a fan say
to you? Like, what is something that they bring up?
What are the kinds of things that they can't wait
to tell you or say?
Speaker 3 (04:58):
You know. The beautiful thing is it really changes every day.
Yesterday at the airport, so I was like, oh, I
just saw Dune like I loved it, you know. Or
someone will say, oh, my kids are obsessed with the
Greatest Showman. You know. It's like they won't stop playing
in my house, you know. Or it's rude and people's
(05:20):
kind of emotional connections to her or the guy literally
in TSA, like as I was going through, he was like,
just saw Challengers and it was me and Darnel, who
was like my brother and my assistant as well, who's
also in the film, and he's like, you guys did
a great job, you know.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
And it's like, so that's awesome.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
It's awesome. You know. It's it's cool to see how people,
how so many different people, how art can connect you
to so many different people and what resonates with them
in their life, and that's, you know, incredibly special to me.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
That's why going through the airport can be fun.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Hearing things like that, right, it can be stressful, but
when you get that from storry like this was well
worth waiting in line and going through everything, well, then
day here Challengers in theaters now, it's great to see you.
Continued success, really really happening. We'll be watching the met
gala as well. We'll see you there, yeah, and we'll
see well, we won't see you there, we'll see we'll
see you there.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
When I say we'll see you there, we'll see pictures
of you there.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
We'll see pictures of you there.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, take care, thanks for coming on.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Good to see you guys.
Speaker 1 (06:21):

Speaker 2 (06:22):
