Speaker 3 (01:00):
Netflix has part one of the sixth and final season
of Cobra Kai. It looks like there may be finally
peace in the valleys. Daniel, Johnny and Chosen are all
working together and teaching Miogi do.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
We're like a couple of seasons behind it. Kind of
it kind of got a little redundant. And I love
me some Cobra Kai when it came out, but it
fell off a little bit.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
It was it was it had it jump the shark moment.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
I'm okay with where we left off, yes, so much.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
You didn't want to watch more of it because they
didn't include Jaden Smith.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Now that you're getting into the film department now, but
the series, it's like it started to jump the shark
a little bit and they started to recirculate storylines. So
it was like at where we left off was perfect.
If it would have ended after season three, it would
have gone down as one of the great ones.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Peacock debuts Those About to Die. Anthony Hopkins is the
Roman emperor Vespasian, who entertains the masses by organizing bloody
gladiata battles.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Wait a minute, this is definitely going on the mantle
right here. And I left my other sheet the other
day that was going on the mantel. What did we say, yes,
mantle it.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
No, there were two. There were two yesterday that were great.

Speaker 6 (02:04):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
One of those about Mike Tyson, the Rise and Fall
of Mike Tyson on Vice. And then there was something
else and the other one I don't know, but I'll
find it for you.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
We have to pull that up.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Yes, and Max Premier's kite Man. Hell yeah, when a
Batman's lesser known villains kite Man sounds scary, tries to
level up by purchasing Gotham's Sedious dive bar.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
I get thinken of a dude flan of kite.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
That's not it. This doesn't sound scary.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
That's a weapon.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I don't maybe O Mario Courtney lopezz the time to
learn a new live BacT.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
What is the topic today in.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Courtney's corner Fresh Fridges? So this has been going viral
on TikTok of coals. You start with two tablespoons of
baking soda. You mix it in a little dish with
some water. Now take that paste and spread it over
both ends of a roll of toilet paper. Stick the
toilet paper roll directly in the fridge and it will
suck up all the odors inside, keeping your fridge fresh

(03:00):
and clean. This is a new take with the toilet paper,
because before you could just open the baking solar and
put the box in there.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Yes, you're going to here, going next level with this one.
You know who loves fresh fridges, Jeff Bridges.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
And you know what, BEFOREY said that, I knew that's
what he was gonna say.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
Yeah, right, Oh God, did you too switch places?

Speaker 3 (03:24):
I would never say that that was terrible.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
It's because I'm in pain.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
More Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Mario Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
One of the coolest things about the iHeartRadio Music Festival
is getting turned onto artists we don't usually see.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
For instance, Shaboozi Shouzzy.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
We all know his big single, but looking forward to
seeing what else he's bringing to the stage.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Same thing with Hosier. I've never seen him perform live yet.
Santino loves This is his new favorite song. It's going
to be the biggest weekend in music. September twentieth and
twenty first at the Tmobilereena in Vegas, and you can
get your tickets now at Awa Mario dot com.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Mario Courtney Lopez here. Today's guest should be zooming in
any minute now. It is actor Ernie Hudson. He just
kicked off a new season of the Family Business.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Last we've got to talk about Ghostbusters and we'll get
into all of that after a few more songs.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Deby Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Joining on Zoom from Ghostbusters in the Family Business actor
Ernie Hudson.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
Welcome to the show, sir, how are you.

Speaker 6 (04:25):
I'm very good, so good to to always get to
talk to you. I'm good, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Likewise, first off, man, I gotta talk fitness right off
the bat, because you look incredible. You, sir, are seventy
eight years old. You're getting featured in Men's Health. I mean, bravo,
so inspirational.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
What are you doing to stay in such great shape?

Speaker 6 (04:45):
You know, nothing different than I've always done. Just do
the basic stuff, don't do the dumb suf. Nothing has changed.
Some little bit surprised at the recent attention. It's always
welcome and nice, but I'm like, really because nothing's changed.
But then someone said, well maybe that's the thing. Nothing's shamee, you.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Know, I think that is the thing. And is it
true you you don't eat before noon?

Speaker 6 (05:10):
Yeah, I try not. I have no set rules that
I don't absolutely do, but yes, generally speaking, I don't
eat anything before noon. That well, I think your body
needs time to eliminate whatever you're putting into it. You know,
when you're constantly eating breakfast, lunch, denner, snacking, your body
it just doesn't have time to process, so it begins
to store stuff in places you really don't want.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Right, So.

Speaker 6 (05:36):
That a little fasting time from seven till noon the
next day. It is really important. And fasting has always
been good. If you reach a point where you just
things are just slipping out of control, going a nice three,
four or five day fast, there's always a good way
to reset.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
It really is.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
No calories there, exactly, exactly. All right, Well, we got
a lot to talk about. We're gonna take a little BREAKO.
We're gonna come back with Ernie Hudson in just a moment.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
More fun on the way on with Mario Lopez.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Mario Lopez. Here I got actor Ernie Hudson on Zoom
with Me. Season five of the Family Business just kicked
off with drama is Elsie Duncan facing the season.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
Yeah. Yeah, Elsie was in the middle hospital. His brother
put him there in the last season, so there was
a little traumatic form. But now, of course all of
his adversaries sense a weakness and so they kind of
coming at him, and he knows he has to step
up to a new level to regain the respect that

(06:39):
he feels he rightfully deserves. And in this season a surprise.
The family that's always been so important to him now
there's a threat from within that he really can't quite comprehend.
But yeah, it's the intensity level is up a new
notch and it's really a lot of fun to play.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
I bet well you can watch The Family Business Thursdays
on b ET Plus. Hold on, Ernie got a place
more music? What a mar A Lopez here? My guest
today is Ernie Hudson from the BET plus show The
Family Business. And also in the works a horror film
called Oswald Down the Rabbit Hole.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
What's this about?

Speaker 6 (07:16):
Yeah, we haven't started shooting yet. In fact, I just
had a meeting about an hour ago with the uh,
the write air producers.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (07:24):
It's an animated sort of live action, an animated mixed
feature about an animator who started out with you know,
a Disneylight company back in the day and was sort
of discriminated against, and so he's he's out to sort

(07:46):
of get revenge or get even or make sense out
of it. So it's this this really Yes, it's really creepy, scary,
and for me because it's it's fun. Because most of
the work I've done over the years have been really
kind of family friendly, and I like that. But every

(08:08):
once in alst thanks to sort of step into a
different world.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
Yes, looking forward to that when it comes out. Let's
get back to music.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Jo al Mari Lopez hanging out with actor Ernie Hudson
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire was a big hit earlier in the year.
Is that the last time you're going to rock up
Proton Pack? Or could there be another possible?

Speaker 6 (08:26):
I love the franchise.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
I love it.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
I suppose even as much as a franchise. I love
the fan base that have been drawn to the film
for all these many years, now spent forty years. They
still love the film. They still put on their Proton Packs,
And as long as it's that kind of enthusiasm and loyalty,
I'll always want to be a part of it. Now.

(08:50):
Of course, what the studio decides, it's says one thing,
But me personally, it's really an honor to sort of
represent this group of people, people who loved it.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
What do you remember about auditioning for the original movie.

Speaker 6 (09:04):
Well, the audition process was I did a movie called
Space Hunter with Ivan Rightman producing directed Ghostbusters. Yeah, you know,
Harold Ramis was one of the writers on that. We
shot Space Hunt. Peter Strauss and Molly Ringwall wore my
co stars. There was a year before Ghostbusters, and when
I heard about Ghostbusters, I couldn't get an interview. I

(09:28):
think the character I played at Space Hunter was it
bigger than life character. My head was shaved. You know.
I've spoken a little register and just one of those dynamic,
powerful kind of guys, which is all wrong for Ghostbusters.
And I think Ivan saw me as that character, and
I'm like, no, that's that's the part I'm playing. I'm

(09:50):
an actor, it's not who I am. And so after
really about three months of knowing people going in to
read for the part, they found gave me a chance
to come in and I just you know, I just
owned the room. At least that's how I felt. But
even after that happened, they still were determined to find

(10:11):
someone else.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
Dang I Evan, right, man, I work with you. Where's
the loyalty here?

Speaker 1 (10:17):
I was.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
I think they just anybody but Ernie, but go damn,
but I always some of those parts you go, you know, no,
this is my role, so let's accept it. We're doing
this together. And it was challenging. But but I'm so,
I said forty years later, now I only have fun memories.
It took me a minute to get.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
There, but yeah, you know, I'm glad everything worked out.
One more thing I want to ask you, but we've
got to take a little break. We're gonna wrap it
up with Ernie Hudson in just a moment.

Speaker 7 (10:45):
We are the full interview now at on with Mario
dot Com. More Mario Lopez on the way.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Mario Lopez here wrapping things up with our guests, Ernie Hudson.
And last question, is it true you have three great grandchildren?

Speaker 6 (10:57):
Yeah? Yeah, my yeah, great great brand I have four sons.
I have five grandkids. You know, I had a son
my first time was born when I was nineteen. My
son's son was born when he was twenty, and great
so he had up the years. You know, it's it's

(11:18):
hard to do. Unless you're really stupid, you don't think
about it. I got all these kids're gonna cause you money,
right But yeah, so my oldest grand's son is thirteen now,
and then I have a ten year old grandson, and
I have a granddaughter who's fifteen but not biological. So wow. Yeah,

(11:41):
great kids, great kids.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Well, they're lucky to have a great grandfather, great grandfather,
I should say. That's awesome, very nice to speak with you, Ernie.
I hope I get to see in person soon and
keep up all the great work, my friend. You can
watch new episodes of The Family Business Thursdays on b
ET plus season one through for our stream right now
on Netflix. Will be sure to check that out or

(12:03):
any Thanks for hanging.

Speaker 6 (12:04):
Out always good Sandy Man, take care you so all
right too, buddy, Take care.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Y'all, Mario Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
There are just a couple of days left to get
in on this week's sweepstakes. We're giving away a check
for five thousand dollars thanks to our friends at Twigs.
Twicks gives you more with two bars in every pack.
It's a taste you love.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Twice and with an extra five thousand dollars in your pocket,
you can experience more of the things that you look
like a concert or a vacation. Big thanks to Twigs
and Mars for hooking it up. But there's only one
way to enter and get rules. Just head over to
amwthmrio dot com.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Y're on, Mario Courtney Lopez. Let's put on our thinking caps.
It's time for Courtney's random question.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
What you got honey?

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Okay? So I was reading that Ryan Reynolds at his
nine year old watch R rated movies. So I was thinking,
what was the first R rated movie that you watched?
And do you remember how old you were?

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yes, vividly, and I've talked about it a lot. It
was The Exorcist and I was like three or four
years old, and for some reason, my grandfather liked to
watch that on loop. And if your grandfather like you, everybody,
all the little kids are all right there and I
head spin and I.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
Got what's going on?

Speaker 2 (13:28):
But you know, you know what movie freaked me out
the most though, And I feel bad even saying it,
because it was the whole point of the movie to
not make people uncomfortable.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Was a movie called The Elephant Man. Back in the
day it was it was in black and white.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
I was eight years old when it came out and
it was about and now as an adult, I felt guilty,
but I was a little kid, so giving myself some grace.
Of course, it was all about and it was a
true story about this man who was born deformed and
they used him as a circus performer, and it was
just heartbreaking when you see it as an adult. Anthony Hopkins,
who we talked about a little earlier, was in it

(14:04):
very young, and I'll never get the wind teardrop that
fell down his face and he wasn't blinking and he
was a kid.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
That was really powerful. But I felt so bad.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
Because the true actors, true.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Actor that's true, like Michael Kine said, But that one
really like gave me some some nightmares.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
More Mario Lopez coming up.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Ya, Mario Courtney Lopez got some sledges turning a year older.
We're gonna try to guess her ages from Gossip Girl
and the Boys. Chase Crawford. Chase is forty forty two
thirty nine. Oh Rianka Chopra from Quantico. She's married to
Nick Jonas she's.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
Hitting the fourth level.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
Forty forty one, forty two, Oh my god.

Speaker 5 (14:47):
Stin Bell from Veronica Mars The Good Place frozen, which
if you if you haven't seen The Good Place, I
think you would actually enjoy The Good Place.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
Is that still one? It's it's streaming. You can watch it.
It's done, but you can watch it.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
Ted Dancy, Yeah, Kristen Bell is forty three.

Speaker 4 (15:03):
We just saw her.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Yeah, and her husband forty four, forty four is correct.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
And Vin Diesel from Fast and the Furious Fast and
the Furious two Fast ten, all of them.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
He lives his life a quarter mile at a time.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Family, I think he is fifty nine sixty fifty seven.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Wow, okay four Mario Lopez coming.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Up, Mario Courtney Lopez here, and we found a reason
to celebrate every single day.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
What is today's holiday, honey?

Speaker 3 (15:32):
It is National sour Candy Day.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
You and Gia and all the females in my life,
my mom, my sister loves howur candy. I cannot stand
sower Kan really not my jam.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
You know, sometimes you just need a punch then not on.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
Your outside, the inside.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Mario Lopez here and my wife Courtney, Let's take a
look at the biggest podcast this week on the iHeart Radio.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
App Number three, Last Alterist does Matt and Bowen preview
the athletes to watch at the Summer Olympics.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
Ooh.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Number two is Who Killed JFK? Hosted by Rob Reiner
and former CNN anchor Solidad O'Brien.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
We're still talking about this.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
We've been talking about who killed JFK since I was
a little kid. But don't they know, well, all the theories
go from the mob to the CIA.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
There's a reason that they still have not released all
of the files. You know, everyone related to it is gone.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
But it's fascinating that.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Seriously, I was a little kid and we were talking
about who killed JFK.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
People have talked, how about fifty year old man? We're
talking about who killed JFKs?

Speaker 5 (16:37):
Since it happened. People have literally been talking about a
nonsense that crazy.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
And I think we'll be talking about what just recently happened, Yeah,
the same fifty years from now. And Number one, drum
roll please is Dayline. Their latest episode is about twenty
five year old Arelli Garcia, who vanished without a trace,
leaving her car and phone abandoned on the side of
the road.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
Mario Courtney Lopez.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Off of your comments, what did you find in our
mentions today?

Speaker 3 (17:09):
This is from a travissa. Mario thinks he's being helpful
by changing the trash bag, but who's going to clean
that shoeprint from the cabinet. Here's a rag one le.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
That's small troublemaker. Yeah, thanks a lot for ratting me out.
I thought I was being cool and healthful.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Shoes in the house.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
We need to disinfect it, We need to wipe it off.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
You're right, we need to.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
And you have shoes on in the that's a rule
that that is that you just showed me in that video.
You don't follow.

Speaker 5 (17:42):
To be fair, though, those were Mario Lopez shoes, and
Mario Lopez shoes don't leave a mark.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
That's true. That's why I was wearing them more for
the video and to raise awareness.

Speaker 7 (17:51):
Git us up on Twitter, on with Mario and hang
on more. Mario Lopez on the way, Mario Courtney Lopez. Here,
we want to give a.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Shout out to actress Emma Robert's. Her boyfriend Cody John
popped the question and Emma said, yes.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
How sweet. They've been dating for about two years. The
engagement ring is said to have cost Cody one hundred
and ten thousand dollars.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
Okay, Cody, congratulations, Blair.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
I love that we care how much the ring costs.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
What a Mario Courtney Lopez here and Bethany Frankel ain't
afraid of no ghost it. She was all set to
go on her first date since breaking up with her fiance,
but she was walking to the restaurant, she saw the
guy sitting there and decided he wasn't her type, so
she just kept on walking. Bethany says she's tired of
wasting her time and would rather be at home with
her daughter.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Wait was this a blind boy?

Speaker 3 (18:41):
It must have been because or.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
They had been talking online and he just looked that
much different in person. That could be it too cold
is ice?

Speaker 4 (18:49):
No matter what?

Speaker 3 (18:49):
But if she doesn't want to waste her time, then
she shouldn't be going on blind dates. If in fact
that's what it.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
Was, Yes, we'll report later on.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
That's when you need to FaceTime someone. There you go, Actually,
I look really ugly on FaceTime, don't.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Well, you're trying to date someone, don't worry about it. No,
but I'm saying, let's get back to music.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
I'm saying, some people don't look good on it.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
So Courtney Lopez time for one last thing.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
The other day we were talking about how Ryan Reynolds
and Blake Lively allow their kids to start watching rated
R movies at nine years old, which I've hey, listen,
not want to tell anyone how to pair it, but
for us at Costa Lopez, that's a little young.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
But I do think it depends because.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
I feel our daughter, who's thirteen years old, has seen
an R rated movie.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
But it was a horror film. Yeah, so it was
more slasher.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
She knows it's over the top, she knows it's not real, right,
And I don't have a problem with her watching that.
As a matter of fact, I watched A Quiet Place
with her and it was quite bonding, and yes, it's
spooky and stuff, but that I don't have a problem with.
Where I did put my foot down. She recently asked
to watch Challengers with Zendaya and she grew up watching

(20:09):
Zindiya on Casey Undercover. But I'm like, no, no, no,
Zendea's not undercover in this one. I said, you were
not allowed to watch that, and she's like, come on, dad,
I'm like no, no, no, no no. So we draw the
line when there is adults adult type intimate content, and
I think that's a big difference, right, Oh absolutely, yeah.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
Like if she wanted to see Deadpool two, which was
rated R, like that's one thing.

Speaker 4 (20:33):
There is a core, there's a big there's a big
difference with the rated RS.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
I don't I don't mind the herb, but when you
start getting into naughty intimacy.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
No, how did she respond to that?

Speaker 3 (20:43):
And she said, Okay, Okay, she's a good girl.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
She's a good girl.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
So she's okay, tell Mario what do you think? On Twitter?
At On with Mario More Mario Lopez on the way, all.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Right, we're out of here, but we're back tomorrow with
your first look at everything new hitting theaters and streaming.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Until then, this is Mario and Courtney Lopez saying good night.
