Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mario fun with Mario Lopez. It's up.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
You're on Mario Lopez joining me now on zoom from
a room five guitars. James Valentine, Welcome to the show Man.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
How are you hey, great to see you. Thanks great.
It's a beautiful day to Luca Lake.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Yeah it is. It is gorgeous here in La Is
that where home's at?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
That's where homes at? And I got to say, you know,
sometimes I see you.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
I fat down on Riverside Drive while I'm driving by,
I'm like, oh, there's Mario.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yup.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Hey, I like me some patties and there's a little
spin place.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
You're walking into patties. There you go. You got that place?
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Is as a great breakfast place right there. What's it's
beautiful weather out here. I just came back from La
I mean, Pardons came from New York. It was freezing.
So you're loving life right here. Congratulations?
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
I know you all announced the new Las Vegas Residency.
If I was a musical artist, the residency is the
way to go. I just think those are so cool.
Instead of touring, the touring comes to you. Do you
enjoy that more than being on the road, or is
do you like a balance of the two.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Oh, we love it.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
I mean we've been on the road for the last
twenty two years.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Yeah, I figure.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, So it's set up.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Camp in one spot and just have the people come
to us.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
It's amazing.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
We get the days off most of the time, you know,
we spend the days on an airplane or.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
On a bus.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Right, just get to chill and everybody comes to us
and the energy is great. That was the one thing
we didn't really know about whether or not the crowds.
We're going to bring the energy, but people come to
Vegas to party, so it's just a great time all around.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
We absolutely love it.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
We want to retire in Vegas, do it until we die,
like we love it.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yeah, I'm telling you that would be my move. Are
the shows any different? Do you approach the shows differently?
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Well, yeah, we get.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
To spend a little more time on production because we're
in one place, so you know, we have more production elements,
and of course the show is a little more intimate.
We're playing about a five thousand seed venue, so you know,
we're up closer to the crowd. So it's it's a
great contrast to the sort of arena shows that we've
(02:06):
been used to playing.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah, you mentioned downtime. Are you a gambler at all?
Are you going to try to stay away from that?
Speaker 3 (02:14):
I gotta say, like, I was really not a gambler
until we started.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Doing the.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
And you know, you walk by those tables enough times
and then you finally are like, okay, show me how
to play crafts. Oh no, you're like, wait, this is
actually kind of fun. So it's a little bit dangerous,
but I think we'll get through it.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Watch yourself, man, good luck. What about new music the
band have any plans to get into the recording studio
at the moment.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Or yeah, I think I think you could expect some
new music in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
We were starting to work on on.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
A few ideas, but you know, I think the goal
is definitely to put some some new stuff out next year.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
I love that aside from touring the residency, you also
can do private gas because I saw that you all
played at a private gig at a sixty million dollar
wedding in Paris. I can't even imagine what sixty million
dollar wedding looks like. What took it to that level.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Aside from heavy, yes, it's it's pretty insane. We do
get to play, you know.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
I don't think a lot of people realize because a
lot of these gigs kind of happened, uh, you know,
and they're usually pretty low profile.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
But this, this most recent wedding we did, went.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Viral and you know, like it's it was they you know,
they definitely put a lot into it.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
It was it was pretty spectacular, you know.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
I think going all the way to France to do that,
it was it was, it was something else. But you know,
we get to play a lot of those, and it's
it's you know, those events are actually pretty fun to
play because you're you're there for these important moments in
people's lives, and so it's always pretty interesting and always heartfelt.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
How long was the set? I'm just curious about the wedding.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
That one was an hour. We played a full hour day.
That's not It's not a bad gig.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
And I'm sure you got to take care of me handsomely.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Good for you, man, Good for you.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
I hear you're all going to Vietnam to play.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Yeah, we're playing a new music festival that they're starting
out there, and.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
We're super excited.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
There's not a lot of places that we haven't been
already in or twenty years of touring, and Vietnam's one
of them. And it's also cool because we're going to
be playing with all local artists. I think we're the
only international artists that's coming in, So that's going to
be a special one.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Tyronic because I was just talking to my producers here.
A buddy of mine just got back from Vietnam. Loved
it really, yeah, so I think you're gonna have a
great time man. And last question, I know you're coming
up on your first wedding anniversary.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
How's your one been? It's been great, man, I love it.
We got married here into lucal A. We should have
had you officiate, just like come over, you know, out
of been down. Hey.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
You know what's funny you say that you got hired
to do these weddings again, I've gotten hired to do.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
So oh really?
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Oh yeah, okay, good to know, so funny. No, yeah, no,
it's been great. You know, Alexis is wonderful.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
And we love our life here and it's been great.
You know that we we've had the Vegas residency, so
it hasn't been too crazy with with the travel this year,
so we've been able to spend some time together and
it's been wonderful.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
You're from La originally, right, James?
Speaker 1 (05:25):
No, I actually grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska. Oh you did?
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (05:28):
I thought?
Speaker 2 (05:29):
I thought, are you guys from all over? By know
Adams from here? But are you guys from all over?
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Yeah? Well the whole band was LA native except for me.
I was the only transplant.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
I came out here in two thousand and they they
poached me from another band soon after that and got
been with them ever since.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Got it, And you're in a great neighborhood. So good
for you, brother. I'm sure I'll see it and come
say what's up next time you see me on riverside
or Patty's right there?
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Okay, cool, I'll buy a coffee of patties next time
I see it.
Speaker 2 (05:55):

on sales Saturday. James, thanks so much for hanging out.
