Trey Young.
Speaker 6 (02:51):

Yes, family, whole family passed away and the pilot they
were tourists. And I'm sure Morgan will give you give
you updates. But I'm talking to him and talking to
a ten year old. He was like, Dad, if that
was me, I would dive in the water. I'm like,
he's like, now, I would take my seatbelt door and
I would have did it.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
I'm like, shut up. But yeah, so I'm sure she'll

we all know them from Blackish, but now they're in
this movie.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
So then we got the world boss. That's right, Big Ninetain.

weeks ago and correct, you gotta have vibes on. You
gotta have vibes on because they know he was coming

Speaker 5 (04:13):
That's right, Oh African thing. We just had the beato too, Caribbean. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:20):

name for that app from vibes.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
He ever thought of that?
Speaker 3 (04:54):
No, that's what that's the fact.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
That's not a fact, that's e fact.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
But you can't be affected. Wanted to the front page news.
What's something logan?
Speaker 7 (05:04):
Hey, y'all, good morning and happy Friday for the most part.
But you know there is some devastating news, as you
guys mentioned, so for first up on the front page,
tragic news to report.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
In New York.
Speaker 7 (05:14):
Officials are confirming six people have died after a helicopter
crashed into the Hudson River in New York City. The
victims have been identified as Augustin Escobar, president and CEO
of the technology company Siemens in Spain, his wife, their
three children, and the helicopter pilot, now New York City,
Eric Adams. He is speaking out after the tragedy, and
(05:35):
he also made the grim announcement, Let's take a listen
to New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
Speaker 8 (05:40):
At this time, all six victims have been removed from
the ward and sadly, all six victims have been pronounced
to cease.
Speaker 9 (05:53):
Three adults and three children were on board a Bell
two six helicopter that had left from Downtown Skyport just
about three pm. We're praying for the families and our
gratitude to the rescuers and the courage that was displayed
in their dedication.
Speaker 10 (06:14):
And so this is yes, absolutely just devastating.
Speaker 7 (06:18):
This is something that is actually impacting New York and
New Jersey because the bodies were pulled from the New
Jersey side of the water. Now. Adams went on to
say that the victims were a family visiting from Spain.
They were on a tour and witnesses say the chopper
broke apart before it went down and overturned. I'm sure
you guys have seen the videoing online.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
No, I have it, And I don't know why the
media of people on social media keep reposting that video.
Why I kept seeing the headline the moments of the
helicopter crashing into the water?
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (06:47):
Was he that?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (06:48):
So.
Speaker 7 (06:49):
New York Governor Kathy Hochel said in a statement that
she's joining all New Yorkers and praying for those who
have lost their lives. President Trump also released a statement
on social media regarding the crash, saying it was a
terrible helicopter crash in the Hudson River. Looked like six people,
the pilot too, adults, three children are no longer with us.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
He said.
Speaker 7 (07:04):
The footage of the accident is horrendous and God bless
the families and friends of the victims. He went on
to say that Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy and his
talented staff are on it and announcements as to exactly
what took place, on how and how will be made shortly.
So as the President mentioned, and of course you guys
know that an investigation into the crash is ongoing and
(07:25):
there is the cause of that accident has not been
released as of yet, so I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
To know what the cause. But definitely horrible, horrible situation.
Praying for that family. I wouldn't wish something like that
on my worst not to me. Man, three young kids,
parents knowing there's nothing you can do in that moment,
is that helicopter is going down. If there's a heaven,
I pray all of them walked in together.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Man. Absolutely.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
You know they're trying to pass legislation now that will
ban a lot of those tourists helicopters because they're saying that,
you know, well, maybe the airspace should only be for
travel and commercial and not for those tourist things. But
regards I mean, I did the tourist helicopter before I
took my kids on on that on that that that
same helicopter path.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
And went right up to the George Washington bred by
the Empire.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
Stay.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
I did that before too, So it's very scary.
Speaker 6 (08:10):
Like Charlamagne said, you know, condolences, and you wouldn't wish
that on anybody.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Has that happened before.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
I've never heard of a helicopter.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
Like that one in particular.
Speaker 7 (08:20):
Yeah, nothing, I know, but you know, it seems it
seems like we're seeing seeing an influx of aviation accidents
regardless of what's going on, you know. So it's just
just sad to see you. I don't think we can
get used to that, you know.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
What I mean.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
There's been no mention of any prior crashes involving this
particular what is it called a Bell two O six
L four long Ranger.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Yeah, that's the type of helicopter it is.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
Yeah, but you know, they do those tours all day long,
like if you ever got like all day long day
on those tours NonStop.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
So it's very sad. All right, Well that is front
page news.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Thank you, Morgan.
Speaker 2 (08:54):

and had our own way before when we when we

least less stands in government that were for us.
Speaker 13 (10:41):
And that's my point is that I feel like when
we had less from quote unquote society and delicending in
ourselves more.
Speaker 12 (10:49):
We were better as a communion.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
I can't read that whole thing.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
I read the whole thing, and she basically was saying like, yeah,
you know, all of it, all of the negative stuff
in the song.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
I guess perceived the negative. She wrote it.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Yeah, she said she wrote it. I say that little
part of it. Yeah, I'm sure learning to break that
down on the latest. But it was long. It was like, Hey,
I was like, I can't read that.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Hey, good morning, good morning. Get it off.
Speaker 4 (13:01):

Know she wasn't she She's been proving.
Speaker 12 (13:23):
Me explaining to you. I remember when this first went down.
Speaker 15 (13:29):
You remember she did an interview about this song, and
she she stood on it, and she easy made the
statement that polould have done didn't make her do this. Well,
you know, I know, instadem came out and said that
she wrote it, but both to be true at the
same time. Remember what Seen probably did write it, but
(13:51):
I think she did it winging.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
Well.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Esther said that she wrote it.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
But also to remember, Carrie said she was protecting everybody
that was in all, so she would say that in
the interview.
Speaker 15 (14:01):
Okay, but protecting everybody, Okay, I will say, you just
wouldn't saying nothing at all. Did you see you actually
get on the interview and say he did not make
you do that?
Speaker 6 (14:13):
Well, we're gonna break it down with and Laura because
that's the deed, release a long statement yesterday, and there's
some more updates, so you keep it locked.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
And Lauren's gonna fill us in.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Okay, Okay, how old are you I've been last?
Speaker 4 (14:25):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Okay, she said she was dead. She remembers, all right, well,
Dan Katina, you.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
Okay what you been talking like? He ain't three years
to fifty? You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (14:34):
She said she was dead.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
You might need to get her as a source.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Lauren, okay, get it off your chest. Eight hundred and
five eighty five, one oh five.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
And we got the ladiest of Lauren coming up? What
were talking about we do?
Speaker 17 (14:44):
We're gonna start with Tony Braxton and Birdman because they
were married almost divorced, but they still married and we
didn't even know any of this was happening.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
No, Butman told everybody at the Brothers Club to keep
their name out your mouth.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
That's mouth until you come back again. We exist right
of us.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Now we'll get into that.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Next is the Breakfast Club. Good morning the Breakfast Club.
We are the breakfast Club on this Friday. Let's get
to the latest.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Laura Lauren becoming a straight fast.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
She gets them somebody that knows somebody detail.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
I'm a home girl that knows a little bit about everything.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
She'd be having the latest on me, the previous, the law,
the latest with Laura la Rossa.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Sometimes you have fact, sometimes you have details.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
Sometimes you have a little bit.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Of every time the latest on the Breakfast Club. Talk
to me, what's your guy on cool.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Bab Tony Braxton Birdman are married. That's what's up. One
to seven.
Speaker 17 (15:45):
So this actually happened eight months ago, but we had
no idea and actually it seems like their honeymoon period,
like you know, you first get married and it's all happy.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
It was a little shaky.
Speaker 17 (15:55):
According to these documents obtained by TMZ, so TMZ is
reporting that they got me Mary quietly.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
It was a very secret. This happened August eighth.
Speaker 17 (16:04):
Now in the first couple weeks of the marriage, Like
within the first two weeks of the marriage, there are
documents that show that Tony Braxton applied for divorce. Yes,
so when they got so they know that. So TMZ
found out about the marriage because they found the divorce
docks first. So in her filing that TMZ saw that
(16:24):
the listed separation date was August tenth.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Now a quick recap for you guys.
Speaker 17 (16:29):
The couple held a secret wedding ceremony, then two days
later Tony at least it says that they were on
the outs and had it for divorce in the docks.
Tony Braxton, her attorney called the marriage irretrievally broken. And
another applot twist to this is that although it seems
like they were headed for a split, Tony then dismissed
the divorce petition in January twenty twenty five, and Bertman
(16:49):
signed off on that too. So as of now they're
legally married husband and wife. And you know, I was
gonna say they're happy, but we don't know because we
didn't even know they was married in first place.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
Say Tony has never been that Braxton who had all
our business out opening, you know.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
So and very Man ain't.
Speaker 5 (17:06):
Really the same person that's open about stuff too, because
they ain't like the threat niggas when when people talk
about me, I know, okay, yeah, so I'm not.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Yeah, you know what I mean, what what are we
supposed to say about this situations?
Speaker 5 (17:19):
Yeah, but I'm also not surprised that we didn't know
anything about their marriage because of those reasons.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
Yeah, but the.
Speaker 6 (17:24):
TMZ just typing everybody's needing in the computer, like what
made them type in Tony Braxton was like, was there
Tony Braxton news?
Speaker 2 (17:32):
That was like, it depends.
Speaker 17 (17:34):
Well, first of all, a while ago there was like
a news circulating that Tony Braxton and Burnman had gotten
private wedding, got married in a private wedding in Mexico,
and and that was like making the rounds. But Tony
Braxton had reposted it and said fake news. So I
think that kind of like set on alarm off for
some people were there like what is going on? But
you never know, it could have been like a tip
(17:55):
somebody like yo, I know they got married, here's where
they got married.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
So then you actually you know where to go look.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
For them and nothing that he did just want to
sleep on the stage never day. So that's that they
probably like got the digging like okay, what is what
else is going on? Where is Tony?
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Why was she there? And then boom there we got.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
To the feless.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
No, that's what.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Why wasn't she all right? You know, because she would
have wisked them off the stage?
Speaker 3 (18:14):
That's her husband.
Speaker 17 (18:16):
Well, yeah, so that was December twenty twenty three when
that fake news was well it was fake news, but
real news later was circulating, So maybe I don't know
what this could have been several different things, but congratulations
to them.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Yeah, are you going to do some digging to see
why it was a divorce so fast?
Speaker 17 (18:31):
I've already begun that because she said irretrievably yeah, which
is normally when people say that, it's like, what do
you mean that she can't really you can't fix it?
Like let me be will be in the comments like
here's a real.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
Though, that meant irreconcilable. I'm about the look, Joss, I
don't know that's the word to every truly broken is
I don't know what the word is.
Speaker 17 (18:51):
Isship it's broken beyond repair.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
What if he had that in his wedding bows already?
I reserve the right to be finished or be done
anytime I want to.
Speaker 5 (19:02):
It's not it's not a m it's not a term
like a contract because vow was not supposed to say
something like that.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
But you can make anything you want.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
Ye.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
It's an expression of love, not a contract.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
That's why you.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Got to have God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost in
your relationship, all three of them, because when those things happen,
you need that bond, that spiritual faith to keep you.
Speaker 17 (19:23):
All together up here playing about that man marriage right now,
you know, real funny. Okay, continue, continue on, Finish you done,
you finished?
Speaker 2 (19:36):
You done?
Speaker 4 (19:38):
Nothing?
Speaker 2 (19:38):
All right?
Speaker 17 (19:39):
Uh So Esterdean, as we mentioned earlier in the show,
she posted another statement on this whole Carrie Hilston turning
me on Beyonce disk along.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Yeah, I didn't read that whole day.
Speaker 17 (19:52):
I read Yeah, you know, I read it. So it's
a letter from Esterdean and uh she said, it's for
carry for creators. For the record, she she stayed quiet
for a long time, but she believes that telling the truth,
especially when the Internet starts telling his own version of
the story is important. Back in July two thousand and eight,
she started working with Polo.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
To down in Atlanta.
Speaker 17 (20:09):
She didn't move to la to write for Polo's artists
at Innerscope. She wasn't famous, she wasn't cloud chasing, and
she was in the studio day and night writing three
the first songs a day. No friends nor family, just
work whenever the studio was open, she wrote. Polo called her,
she showed up, and that's how it was. So then
to turn of me on remix happened, she said. One
night Polo called her and asked her to write a
remix verse for Carry Hilson, something that was like street
(20:29):
edgy and for the culture. He left the room and
she sat there, you know, coming up with different ideas.
She then came up with, I shot the sheriff, but
wait until I shoot these bees down down, shot these
bees down down and great. So then she she basically
listened to lyrics that she came up with or whatever,
and she said that you know, at the time, she
didn't have she didn't have like the same platform that
(20:52):
Kerry Hilston had. Cary Hilson was the celebrity at that time,
she was already massive. She didn't need savings, So it
wasn't like this song was created to save her career.
She was out making history already. Then she answered the
question why I speak now, She says, because while our
stories may look similar now, back then they weren't. Carrie
was speaking on big platforms I didn't have access to,
and it was her story to tell, not mine. I
(21:13):
stayed writing no hate, no shade is true. What Carrie
went through was sad. She's a great artist, beautiful spirit,
and she deserves grace. She took her lessons now I'll
take mine respect always. So I think that this double
confirms Carrie's sentiments.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
She was here absolutely.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
If this was a call of law, Carrie Hilson would
be innocent. Her story is adding up in every way. Also,
people don't realize how much some folks have to compromise
themselves in this business. We talked about it when Carrie
was here. They told carry her career was going to
be over. She did what she thought she had to do.
She says, she was protecting everybody in the situation. Now
fifteen years, sixteen years later, she's telling her truth.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Yeah, she seems like it's adding up to me, and
why is it so hard for people to believe stuff
like that?
Speaker 5 (21:53):
We've heard things like this happened countless times in this industry,
Like you know.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Why, just so nobody can about the truth from the
lives more attained, they rather make the jokes on carry
and put the bs in her comments.
Speaker 6 (22:05):
But I hope she gets the clarity she needs that
she can continue on because she felt like she was blocked.
She felt like people didn't respect her. So I hope
she's able to get what she really.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Wants out there now. Yeah, and I know she did.
Speaker 17 (22:15):
Really, she was really appreciative of the conversation that we
had in here with her, and just like the reaction
to it. I talked to her yesterday for a bit
and she was like she was just really thankful for
feeling comfortable enough to have a conversation about it.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
She felt like this was a safe place for her.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Well, she should have dropped the album today. Why she
was waiting for.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
The album We Need to Talk come out on the ATM.
They should have dropped the day.
Speaker 5 (22:37):
But you know what, what if she didn't even plan
on opening up about that, she did because she didn't
you know what I'm saying, y'all like really provided that
safe space for her to do that. What if she
never even planned on walking in to talk about that?
That's good though.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Yep, all right, well that's the latest with Lauren.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
See breakfast club.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
And if you think all bit y'all, we don't get
everybody in trouble, it don't even be us, It be
Charlotte and every.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
All.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
You would be so scared of you. Like we solved
the case. We did, We solved the case.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Yes, thank you, Michelle Obama.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
That's what she got it?
Speaker 3 (23:09):
You calling the people. Come on, everybody a divorce.
Speaker 17 (23:13):
Come on, guys, ready, come on, you gotta put your
weight on.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
You gotta put your weight on.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
If you do it.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
I put three ounces to day. I got ma.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Get some of her edges so they'll lay down because
nothing else working.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Please Jesus, all right, gonna come back. We'll be joining us.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Ago was it?
Speaker 3 (23:40):
If you're like to enter the breakfast club?
Speaker 6 (23:43):
Everybody you see envy just hilarious, Charlamagne the guy.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
We are the breakfast club. Let's get in some front
page news.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
What something, Mogan?
Speaker 10 (23:51):
Listen, what's up is?
Speaker 7 (23:52):
The Supreme Court has says that the Trump administration must
facilitate the release of a Maryland man sent accidentally to
prison in Elside. Now, in a ruling on Thursday, of
the Court both granted and rejected adj emergency request that
contested kill Maar Abrego Garcia be returned. The decision means
Garcia does not have to be immediately returned due to
the judge imposed deadline expiring, but that the Trump administration
(24:17):
has to be prepared to share what it can concerning
the steps it has.
Speaker 10 (24:20):
Taken, along with further ones now.
Speaker 7 (24:22):
Abrego Garcia was deported by accident to an Al Salvador
prisoner on March fifteenth, as part of the Trump administration's
plan to send alleged members of the Venezuelan gang trend
Diagua there I also received a DM from the state's
Attorney of Prince George's County in where she says in
a statement in part she applauds to the Supreme Court's
(24:44):
decision today that orders the Trump administration to bring Kilmar
back home. He must be brought home expeditiously. Any further
delays are illegal and unacceptable. People of goodwill who support
the rule of law must stand together and oppose the
Trump administrations latantly unconstitutional and illegal action. She goes on
to say she stands with Kilmar Albrego Garcia, his family
and justice for all people whose constitutional rights have been violated.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
No, I'm always surprised when the Supreme Court does the
right thing, because you know, I've said on numerous occasions
the Supreme Court is no longer a legitimate institution. But
when they get it right and don't bow down the
Trump and the Trump administration, I got to give them credit.
Speaker 7 (25:22):
Well, you know, this thing is continuing and it's ongoing NonStop.
So this comes at the same time as over three
hundred student visas have been revoked by the Trump administration
as it cracks down on immigration.
Speaker 10 (25:32):
Now, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said it's.
Speaker 7 (25:35):
A privilege to go to school in the US, and
he had pretty much a little bit of a message
for those international students.
Speaker 10 (25:41):
Let's take a listen to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Speaker 16 (25:44):
If you come to this country as a student, we
expect you to go to class and study and get
a degree. If you come here to like vandalize a library,
take over a campus, and do all kinds of crazy things,
you know, we're going to get rid.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Of these people.
Speaker 7 (25:56):
So some international students have seen their visas taken away
for allegedly support terrorist organizations. Others have seen theirs reportedly
taken away for things like traffic violations. And of course
this comes as colleges watch immigration databases to see if
students are still allowed to be in the US. Last month,
Rubio said a couple hundred visas were revoked and more
(26:16):
would be happening every day. So I know this stands
to impact students. This is going to be quite the
case by case situation. As I mentioned earlier, Malawach that
DO student, he's a South student, well he is from Sudan,
and the visas from all those of the Sudanese people
have also been revoked. So we'll continue to watch what
(26:37):
happens with some of these students, those who are athletes
here and those who are just here to get an education.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
And now that's the problem, right like, you know, on
the face of on the face it sounds right like, yes,
you don't want nobody here that's committing crime, you don't
want nobody here that supporting, you know, terrorist organizations.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
But are they really.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Going into these schools with a surgical knife and really
getting those people out.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Are they just casting a seems like they just casting
a wide net like.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Everything else they do.
Speaker 10 (27:03):
It's a wide net.
Speaker 7 (27:04):
But at the same time, there may be some knives
in the net because as you can see with the funding,
you know, the Trump administration has also been threatening funding
for a lot of these schools. So the schools are
going to do essentially what they can to make sure
that they keep a coin right. So if that means
surgically going in and looking at these students and where
these students come from, that might. Again, it's going to
(27:26):
be case by case based on school. It's going to
be cased up by case based on the students. So
but I will try to keep you guys updated as
much as I can in regards to that story.
Speaker 10 (27:33):
Now switching gears.
Speaker 7 (27:35):
Democrat Senator Adam Schiff is calling for an insider trading
investigation into the Trump administration.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
Now.
Speaker 7 (27:41):
The move comes after President Trump put a pause on terrace.
Now Shift points to a social media post made by
the President saying, Hey, y'all, it's a good day to
buy d What is it Donald Trump Junior or dj DJ? Anyway,
it was his code basically for his media company. Let's
take a listen to Democrat Senator Adam Schiff in regards
(28:01):
to this situation.
Speaker 18 (28:02):
The question is who knew what the president was going
to do? And did people around the president trades stock
knowing the incredible gyration the market was about to go through.
Just a few days ago, I held a hearing with
people who had to quit the Justice Department. Were fired
at the Justice Department because they were observing corrupt activity
(28:24):
that they would not participate in.
Speaker 13 (28:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (28:27):
So, and as I was trying to mention before, that's DJT,
Donald Trump said, it was a good great, It's a
great day to buy DJT, which stands for Donald J. Trump,
and it's also the ticker symbol for his media company.
Now Shift says he and other Democrats have sent a
letter to the White House asking if anyone in or
around the administration made any financial transactions knowing the President
(28:48):
was going to pause the tariffs. Now Trump said the
pause is a result of what he called Yiffi people
and the bond market sell off. So what do you
guys think about that possible insider a situation going on
with Trump and his buddies, The billionaire buddies, or you
think the pause just happened because you know.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
There's nothing they can do to Donald Trump. Do we
forget that the Supreme Court granted Trump brought immunity for
what they consider official acts. He'll just say that this
was an official act. The guy's got presidential immunity.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
What you gonna do to him? But I always wonder
what things like that.
Speaker 6 (29:20):
Are they actually looking for a crime or are they
just trying to attack Donald Trump? Like are they actually
fishing to see if somebody actually made money, because they
can see who made money and who pulled.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Money out, how much money they.
Speaker 6 (29:31):
Made, and usually they can see and if somebody made
ten million dollars or five million dollars, and they can
actually see if it happened before then and go through it.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
And now it just seems like they.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
Just, well, let's be clear, this is inside of trading.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
I mean, if you tweet out you know now it
was a good time to buy right before you pause
the TIFFs, that is would be considered inside of trading.
But there's nothing you can do to Donald Trump. But
if he got presidential community but.
Speaker 6 (29:52):
If he posted that, that would be for the world
to see. Inside of trading. Is if he told his
man or somebody knew he was going to do it beforehand.
And those are things that could be see the same
thing with like.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
No, you can't say now good time to buy and
then you're the president in Paul Tires for ninety days?
Speaker 4 (30:07):
Is that I don't know what you mean?
Speaker 3 (30:08):
You don't know. I don't know because he posted it.
He posted it nationally.
Speaker 6 (30:11):
It's not like he posted it in his his friends
posted for.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
The world to see. You want the stock ticker on it?
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Envy nah had a stock ticker on it?
Speaker 4 (30:20):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 7 (30:23):
Oh my goodness, sorry JT and now it was a
good time to buy?
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Hashtag DJT jesus.
Speaker 2 (30:30):

Speaker 6 (30:56):
We're gonna kick it with Vibes when we come back.
It's the Breakfast Club. Good morning, the Breakfast Club.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Good morning.
Speaker 6 (31:05):
Everybody is DJ n V Jess hilarious, Charlamane the guy.
We are the Breakfast Club. We got a special guest
in the building. Indeed, the legendary Vibes Cartel. Welcome brother.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (31:17):
How you feeling?
Speaker 7 (31:17):
Man?
Speaker 4 (31:18):
You're like a million dollars right now.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Man, every time I walked through the airport the last
two weeks, everybody there, all the Caribbean people, you got
to have vibes on the Breakfast Club. Vibes going to
be in Brooklyn on April eleventh, you gotta have them
on the Breakfast.
Speaker 6 (31:30):
All in the building, all through the streets. They knew
you were coming, so first and foremost. How does it
feel to be back here and being able to perform?
How does that feel? What is that feeling like?
Speaker 4 (31:37):
I mean, it's a blessing, you know, and it's a
feeling of accomplishment because you know what I mean this
is these are the things that we have worked for
over the years. So to be here now and see
it actualize itself. Yeah, it feels like an accomplished you know,
I mean feeling.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
Yes, you sold out two shows at the Ballplay immediately.
Did you ever did you think it would be like
that with like ticket places are like seven thousand for seats.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
Like of course, like I said, I put the work
in what I mean, So everything is happening to me.
I deserve it. Man, God is the greatest, you know
what I mean. We work hard over the years. We
built a huge catalog, so you know what I mean.
The music speaks for itself as it relates to Dan
Saul and for me to represent the culture. So that
was no surprise. Man, my manager wanted to do a
third night. I'm not I'm forty nine, I'm not that
(32:26):
you know what I mean? Strong?
Speaker 3 (32:27):
You can, I know?
Speaker 4 (32:28):
Boy, Remember coming from prison, I'm sick, you know what
I mean. So that makes it more of a blessing,
you know what I mean? To know that, and I
mean coming from prison thirteen years, still battling with my
illness and the love that the people show me. Man,
if it's not God, I don't know who it is.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
You know, nobody wants to go to prison, But it
feels like prison made you larger than life, like just
from a career. I agree with you from a career perspective.
Do you think it preserved your legacy?
Speaker 4 (32:53):
It made it bigger? Yeah? I think so. I think
it did. But like I said, everything happens for a purpose,
you know what I mean. And if God has a
plan for you, he has a plan for you, if
did us work with it.
Speaker 6 (33:04):
So I look at it the opposite way though, because
I feel like people heard the music but couldn't see
the face. Like I felt like you would have been
an even bigger artist because they just couldn't touch you.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Or if I was free, maybe I would have died
who knows, in a car accident or something. You got
to just focus on what is right, you know what
I mean. And that's how I live my life. Like
it is what it is. I'm here. I did thirteen years,
but now I'm here and that's in my rear view.
Speaker 5 (33:29):
During your time in prison, though you released a lot
of music. How was that managing your career even behind bars?
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Like being in there, I mean, like.
Speaker 4 (33:35):
I said, I had to do it. That was too easy. Man,
Like I always try to find innovative ways to do
what I do and that was just one of them.
Like I had to do it people depending on me.
I had a family to feed, I had my career
to maintain, so that's too easy.
Speaker 5 (33:50):
And even at with being sick though that were there
times w were you just like man, no, I couldn't do that,
but you were really sick though I was.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
I guess saying like how did you fight?
Speaker 5 (34:01):
Like just having a strength to fight through that and
still make music in all of that and keep your
mental where it needed to be to really commit to
that music so you can still be the ViBe's cartel
and deliver what people wanted to hear.
Speaker 4 (34:15):
And now I understand that's a good question too because
in Jamaican prison is not like American prison. Jamaican prison
is real dungeon style, you know what I mean, no
toilets in the cells and crazy work. You know how
I got toilet in myself when Lisa Evers did that piece.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
Is it the special?
Speaker 13 (34:33):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (34:34):
And when they put the toilet installed the toilet in?
What's crazy?
Speaker 3 (34:40):
So what they had you using before?
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (34:48):
So you can read.
Speaker 6 (34:50):
Wow, but I got you know, you put out so
much music people assumed that you had a studio in prison,
because it just the music didn't sound old.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
They always sound it always sound fresh.
Speaker 6 (35:01):
Yeah, I mean somebody passed away and you'd be talking
about him and the song. I'm just joking, but you
had some Did you have a studio?
Speaker 4 (35:07):
That's no, I had a phone, the iPhone five s
that's the that's recorded like the Fiver album. No, did
the Viking album? Yeah? Really? I keep you not? Yeah? Man,
five s and a mattress and some prisoners looking out.
That was it. That was it man and determination and
got himself. Wow. So that's it. Yeah, Yeah, that's crazy work.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Was there ever any time in that thirteen years, especially
when you started getting sick, that you was like, man,
I don't know, I'm gonna make it out of here.
Speaker 4 (35:32):
Yeah? Man, there were times I thought that I wouldn't
make it, but I still had to put into work.
I still have to do what I had to do.
It is what it is. Man, Like, if I die,
at least I died trying. I mean, because that's that's
just my mindset, you know. But yeah, there were times
I was like I even talked to my mother. I
was like Mom, she was like, no, fight it man, pray,
(35:52):
so yeah, big up to my mind that she's a
blessing in my life as well.
Speaker 6 (35:55):
And how did you finally get out? Because they were
fighting to keep you in for a long time. Were
they were fighting appeals anything that you tried? They were fighting?
What was that turn?
Speaker 4 (36:04):
I mean, you're right they wanted to keep me there forever.
But I mean I sent when the case ran to England,
you know what I mean, because the thing is Jamaica,
and I don't want to There's a lot of people
in the system in Jamaica that support me as well,
but the system really just I think they wanted to
make an example, you know what I mean, out of
me because the case is clear cut. Like I've always
told my manager and my family, bro, I'm coming out
(36:27):
once my case reaches England, I'm out and so said,
so done because it's open short case. You messed up here,
You messed up here. This is wrong, This is wrong,
freedom man.
Speaker 6 (36:37):
It's just that they've apologized or said my bad sorry anything.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
I don't need apologies, sir, freedom to best the pology
exactly exactly. So I'm good man. I'm not looking back.
I'm not even suing no, I'm not. I'm not even pursuing,
so no suing.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
Like, how is your health now?
Speaker 4 (36:56):
Working? Progress? Yeah, definitely a work in progress. But it
was worse. When I came out. My head was this big,
like the Pillsbury door.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
Boy.
Speaker 4 (37:05):
It's crazy, man, but you're working. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
Can you describe the moment you were released, Like what
that emotion was.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
I'm still processing I switched, man, because there were times
like I never lost faith, but when they actually opened
the gate, I was the last one out of myself.
I was just like this really is am I dreaming
right now? Like what the hell is this? Hadd all
my clothes on the full white that you see me
(37:32):
walk after, didn't put my shoes on it, and I
just set it little prior and I just walked out. Man.
When I was walking in the yard and all the
prisoners were shaking the doors and it was it was
like an earthquake, man, And I'm not gonna lie. I
shed a tear or two ye tears of joy.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
Yeah. Then I just walked through the gate. But throughout
my incncentration, I never cried and I never felt sorry for myself.
You know, I just know that this is something that
I have to get through by the great itself of God. Man,
God did.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
What was the first thing you did when you got out?
Because I remember when you got.
Speaker 6 (38:06):
Out, people were waiting for you to announce the show,
like everybody wanted to show one the music.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
But it took you some time for that. So what
were you doing?
Speaker 3 (38:16):
Man just told you get poor girl exactly.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Well, I was in prison for years, sir, stop it.
Speaker 14 (38:26):
Come on.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
But yeah, man, I was just chilling with family. Mostly,
like I said, my mother and my father, my kids,
my grandchildren came out of prison. I have threat grandkids.
But when I was going in, I had babies. Wow,
So you know what I mean. Thirteen years is a
long time. Trust me. For me right now, I was
just God, family, music.
Speaker 6 (38:46):
Who was your biggest allies when you were locked up?
Celebrity wise? I know, oh Buster Buster He always said.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Always easily spice, easily popcorn. You know what I mean,
a lot of people don't. She easily boom. I don't
even have to think my brother slash manager TJ. You
know what I mean? Yeah, I Shanna. She came to
visit me several times because a lot of people are scared.
So it wasn't that they didn't want to come, but
just the stigma associated with Yeah yeah, so like spice,
(39:15):
like Seanna popcorn, bust a rude. I gotta give it
a shout out to them, man, give them props.
Speaker 6 (39:20):
All we got more with Vibes Cartel. When we come back,
let's get into a Vib's Mini mix. It's the breakfast
club Good Morning. That was a Vib's Cartel mini mix Morning.
Everybody is DJ Envy Jess Hilaris Shall I mean the guy,
we are the breakfast Club. We're still kicking with Vibes Cartel, Jess.
Speaker 5 (39:36):
Relationships are tough, you know in general, but what do
you think major relationship with your fiance work while serving
a life sentence.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
Because she believed, I mean she believed. I met her
in twenty fifteen, July twenty fifth, never forget yeah, I
mean we've been on and off, you know, I go,
she's in the free world, IM in prison. She lived
in her life still whatever, blah blah blah, but she
was always there. So in twenty twenty two, I decided,
like yo, like I said, I started being more spiritual
but in my faith in God. And I told her
(40:04):
I'm like Yo, I'm coming out, come to Jamaica. And
she came. She left everything, came to Jamaica.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Yeah she was she's from London, Okayyoka, Yeah you met
her on Instagram?
Speaker 4 (40:14):
I heard that. Yes, wow, wow, that was crazy.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
How could you trust that? They could have been catfish?
Speaker 4 (40:19):
I know, But like I said, it was years at
twenty fifteen, y you know what I mean? And I
was talking every now and then we spoke and we
started speaking on a regular basis. So it took it
took a while for me to trust her. She actually
came to Jamaica the first time in twenty nineteen. That's
four years after we were talking, just on the phone talking,
(40:39):
you know what I mean, I think, X.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Okay, all right, we got it right. In twenty nineteen.
Speaker 5 (40:50):
You actually got to put the face to the end,
and she looked exactly like the pictures.
Speaker 4 (40:53):
Yeah, she looked exactly before AI. So she couldn't okay, Yeah,
but she came to visit me, and you know what
I mean, it was a vibe two. I was like, yo,
coming on, come to German, come live. She was like,
oh you sure, she's British and I'm like yes, come
and she came, and she did two years before I
(41:14):
came out. So she came to visit me every time
there was a visit.
Speaker 16 (41:18):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
If I was in a back mood sometime and I'd
be like, don yo, I don't want to see nobody,
she'd cry, or she would come to the prison still
and the guards would be like, hey, yeah, is outside,
And I'm like, okay, I'll go, you know what I mean? So, yeah,
she's been there, came sem Is it easy?
Speaker 1 (41:37):
Is it easy for you to resist the temptation though?
By being at you back on the road and you're
out in the streets. I know the women coming after you.
Speaker 4 (41:44):
And I'm not gonna lie. I flirt with the gladies
five sky tell come on, man, nobody can't get get
out to see them. Only she can get out herself
by messing up. But no girl on the planet can
get her out of my life, you know what I mean? Yeah?
So she good?
Speaker 1 (41:59):
What makes as in king of the dance hall, because
that's what they say, they call vibes called king of
the dance All will qualify the person for that title.
Speaker 4 (42:05):
Your dominance, your influence. It's not necessarily selling records because
I haven't sold records like Sean Paul. But if I
walk through the streets of Jamaica and Sean Paul is
on the other side of the road, he will go
un notice. I mean, no disrespects the influence that that
larger than life five that we bring. If I say, oh, Clarks,
everybody wear a clock, put on a tattooe. Everybody gets that.
(42:28):
You know what I mean? That the dominance. And I've
been doing that since before I got arrested. I've been
deeper than calling me the King of Dancehall. But you
know what I mean, Like I said, kings come, kings go,
Presidents come, presidents go. Nothing is forever accept salvation. So yeah,
so I'm not really fighting for the crown because the
people gave it.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
Can it be more than one king? People love to
say Beanie Man too, it.
Speaker 4 (42:52):
Can be more than one king. Not in our genre,
it's one. But oh no, But that's what I'm saying.
Remember who was the king in nineteen forty five, King
George or something dead, and more kings come along. It's
just life, That's what I'm saying. You can't hold on
to it forever. You can't gave keep the crown. It's
(43:14):
not yours to get It was never yours to gate.
Keep you do your time, you move on. The new
king is in town, sir, thank you.
Speaker 6 (43:21):
Now when you were locked up, verses was big, right yeah,
yeah yeah, when you were watching that, did you think
I would love to do a versus because he has
are very competitive.
Speaker 2 (43:29):
Yeah, and if you could, who would you.
Speaker 4 (43:32):
Want to do Onlado? Obviously come obviously man, Yeah, big
Movada too, man. But yeah, that would be a crazy versus.
Obviously I would win, but he wouldn't.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
Yees anybody catalog you were afraid of a little bit.
Speaker 4 (43:49):
My father got a big catalog. Yeah, I mean no,
not being there a bounty kill. Those guys, those those
are in a different class. Remember you know what I mean,
a bounty killer being there lot in the nineties, the
early two thousands, and Cartail came out Elephant Man as
a nice catalog. It's not like a warrior artist. Yeah,
you know what I mean? Was a warrior artist? What
a car tell?
Speaker 3 (44:09):
A killer?
Speaker 4 (44:10):
I mean a massacre ready to go at it right now? Yeah?
So but no, no, no, I think I have the
biggest current catalog in dance tall because it's relatively Young's
twenty three years. Yeah, you know, I mean lots of hits,
especially in the dance sall landscape. You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (44:26):
Is that missing in music though?
Speaker 2 (44:27):
Like me coming up in queens and DJing parties.
Speaker 6 (44:29):
I would come up and then if someone let's say
you were in the club or baby Sham's in the club.
But if they would just grab and go at each other, yes,
it wouldn't be physical, No, it would be music.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
That's what's missing in dance.
Speaker 4 (44:40):
Hall especially too. I think so too. And one of
the reasons why I think so is because of the Internet.
So a lot of these young kids, they got their
fame from their bedroom. They made their ridden in their bedroom,
recorded it in their bedroom, made their YouTube channel, put
it out. They can monitor this their iTunes whatever. We
on the other hand, we had to go in the streets,
(45:01):
we had to go to the studio, and I'm so
it was a more physical thing for us in the
same way I remember back in the day when the
records came out, you had to go to the record store.
Now you can just take up your phone and be
like yo, stream and stream. So that's why I think
they don't have the knock for physical confrontation like we did.
And by physical I don't mean like punching, even though
sometimes that that does happen, but like to run upon
(45:23):
a guy on stage. Now, they're not going to do that.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
I wouldn't think nobody would do that with Jamaicans anyway.
Speaker 4 (45:29):
But other Jamaicans like that because I would like you
you talk. When is his next show? It's a show
in at the Breakfast club. We go in. Yeah, we
run up, so yeah, have you done that to somebody?
Speaker 9 (45:42):
No?
Speaker 4 (45:43):
Uh, Mavada during Me and Mavado. Yeah, he used to
run upon me A couple of times. I run upon
him last time I was in San Elizabeth. That was crazy,
which was then I got the concept to do the
door run sound because I had a door run song
before Sting and then after Sting. Then I was like,
you know, because he ran off stage two and he's
related to you saying both you know that? But yeah,
(46:08):
aad time. Yeah, it was Now in hindsight, I mean,
I'm glad we had that feud. Man. It made us big,
and you know, I mean it's spread dance all to
places like Africa, which at the time we were like,
these guys listen to us because you know, they don't
showcase that in the media then before the Internet where
you could just jump on your phone and see Africa
for yourself. Yeah, so I think clashing is good man.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
How do y'all get the good terms after clashing the conversation.
Speaker 4 (46:36):
The first time we had that conversation was the second
time the government sent for us in Jamaica because the
ViBe's carteme of other things was so big, school kids fighting,
people getting hurt. So we were the seer at King's House,
which is where the politicians, and we were like, yo,
music bout us here, bro, like this is crazy. That's
when we started talking. And after that we still fielded,
(46:59):
but it was just more like on a control level,
like he would be like, yo, I dropped a song,
Why why don't you answer it? Like, oh, I didn't
hear it? And then I replied to it, and then
I would drop a song and he would reply. So
we kept it like that and it culminated in us
doing the West Kingston show when he called me on
stage in West Kingstone with dudust. Oh that's smart. So
y'all kind of like planning it out. It was strategic
(47:20):
and not in the beginning That's what I'm saying. After
we went to the King's House where the government was,
we was like outside waiting to go in, and we
were just talking like to get the kids. Man, look
you know what I mean, Look at our music is doing.
It's brought us here. And then we just started like, yo,
let's let's plan, let's be strategic.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
Absolutely well, let's get into a joint off the album.
Speaker 3 (47:42):
What song do you want to hear for the people?
Speaker 2 (47:45):
I want to hit por flick.
Speaker 3 (47:48):
I just said that, Yes, let's get in the porn.
Speaker 6 (47:56):
Floor right now, it's the breakfast club good morning, I
want everybody is envy, Jess hilarious, Charlamagne and the guy
we are the breakfast club that was pouring flick from
Vibes called Tel Vibes is here.
Speaker 4 (48:07):
Now.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
I got a question.
Speaker 6 (48:08):
So you know, my wife is Jamaican, right, So I
asked her, we have artists some things, so we look
at it differently. So she was like, looking back, it
is there is there a moment in your career you
wish you handled differently at all? Or like you just said,
do you have no regrets? Is there anything that you
said I should have done differently?
Speaker 4 (48:23):
I don't know when I hit an ininja man with
the mic on stage. I don't know. But because that's
what I'm saying, everything that I've done, it's still even
if it brought me down, when I came up, I
came up higher, right, So I don't like that word
regret many I don't know, because.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
If you believe in God, you really got to believe
everything happened for a reason. Even if it was just
your own poor choice still got you close to God.
Speaker 3 (48:47):
The God got you through.
Speaker 4 (48:48):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Nothing I would do different.
Maybe with a ninja man thing, maybe I wouldn't have
punched it. Maybe I would have just kicked in.
Speaker 2 (48:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
That's funny though, because he like he had to get
it something.
Speaker 4 (49:04):
Kid, don't change history what I said, You're gonna mess
it up for all of us.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
Don't go back in time.
Speaker 4 (49:11):
Right.
Speaker 6 (49:11):
You know What's something the public completely misunderstands about vibes.
Speaker 4 (49:16):
I'm a fun guy. I mean, I like to vibe.
I'd like to have fun. Like if you don't know me,
especially Dan it like, and if you approach me wrong,
obviously I'm gonna react. But if I'm comfortable around people,
we're cool, man, we find it. Yeah, so a lot
of people, really it didn't. I'm just it's evil person
when I'm not.
Speaker 6 (49:35):
I mean, so now, one of your biggest records, Romp
and Shot, Yes, did.
Speaker 3 (49:40):
You ever get that clear?
Speaker 6 (49:41):
You just so you never got paid off it that
you just threw it out and it just did what
it did, like God paid.
Speaker 4 (49:45):
Come on, that song is one of my That song
put me on another level globally again because like I said,
it's levels to the same day Clarks did it summertime?
Did it fever? Did it? You have some songs that
you get those songs, it's like up another extra right,
you're just going up. So yeah, of course, man, that
that song was crazy. We actually wanted to try to
see if we could get it cleared now and do
(50:07):
like maybe a twelve year anniversary fifteen or whatever. But yeah,
that song was crazy. But I didn't get it cleared.
But in Neo's defense, he.
Speaker 3 (50:15):
Didn't see you.
Speaker 4 (50:16):
He couldn't clear it. Remember the rhythm, you know, the
thing going publishing and you made the beat. But he's
a rapper. But you know what I mean. So people think, oh,
why didn't Envy clear the song? But you own the
price to the Yeah. So yeah.
Speaker 6 (50:30):
Also when you perform back in the late nineties and
early two thousand, there was terms and words that you
could say that you cannot say anymore or they will
try to cancel it.
Speaker 4 (50:39):
Oh no, the.
Speaker 3 (50:39):
Nineties kind of back a little bit.
Speaker 1 (50:41):
Man.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
Remember getting a rapper shop?
Speaker 4 (50:43):
I mean, yeah, they take it right out. Rymping shop
was explicit. I mean, I don't know, man, the kid
Dan Saung is explicit as it is, though very intolerant,
which I think is changing now still because the world
is changing. So you got to be mindful of what
what do you say?
Speaker 6 (51:00):
You know, there's certain songs you don't do because of that?
Are you just yeah, I won't do there certain songs
I won't do.
Speaker 4 (51:05):
Yeah, hell yeah, I mean come on, that's like saying, oh,
slavery was good, let's bring it back.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
No, we're not.
Speaker 4 (51:13):
So we're not going to sing certain songs. You're not
gonna you know what I mean? Come on?
Speaker 3 (51:16):
Distasteful?
Speaker 4 (51:17):
Yes, its tasteful, thank you.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
And also I'm sure over time you've probably seen Gauta Gallen.
Speaker 3 (51:22):
It looked beautiful together what gal to gall.
Speaker 1 (51:28):
Right, don't got to got the gay look beautiful together.
Speaker 4 (51:33):
Man, I mean, I don't judge and I don't look.
I'm I'm.
Speaker 3 (51:39):
Sir, is what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (51:42):
So yeah, I focused.
Speaker 6 (51:44):
Another question the wife had is is are you going
to marry your fiance? It's been a while now, that's
usually how it works. You usually marry your fiance. Okay,
this is the thing. It came out July thirty first. Yes,
they're the biggest concert in Jamaica history. December thirty first.
Got my US visa.
Speaker 4 (52:03):
January thirty first. Yeah, so I wanted to get married
February thirty first. It turns out he doesn't have a
thirty first.
Speaker 3 (52:11):
You did that on perfectly.
Speaker 4 (52:17):
At marriage. No, because I've been so busy all over
the place. We have to planet. Because you know, her
family is big, min is big. But they know me. Said,
she's right here. She left her. I don't leave her nowhere.
She's not my good luck chime trouble exactly right. She
balances me, she calms me. Man, so yeah she good.
Speaker 2 (52:34):
Let me ax you a question about Jamaican culture.
Speaker 5 (52:37):
It seems like bleaching your skin is becoming more popular now, Like,
what is the fascination with that?
Speaker 4 (52:44):
Mean? I think it has to do with, you know,
the usual issue, self hate, the history of colonialism, colorism,
it's all that, you know what I mean. And like
we I were speaking to, I don't remember who I
was speaking to, because evening like places like Asia. Yeah,
skin bleaching is a big thing too, and it has
to do with that Stockholm syndrome. Because if you think
(53:05):
about it, who in Asia bleach is the most? It's
the North sorry, the South Koreans and the Japanese that
americanized kind of European. They weren't that you were centric
looking and black people. I've always had that problem. I mean,
I would never bleach again personally, you know what I mean,
(53:26):
because I'm mature enough to know that. Yo. I definitely
think it has to do with self hate or self
lack of self confidence as a race, because when I
was bleaching, like I literally looked in the mirror and
I thought I looked better being light skinned, you know
what I mean. So it took a time for me
(53:46):
to man.
Speaker 1 (53:49):
So it was a cosmetic thing when you did it, Yes, definitely,
but I would never.
Speaker 4 (53:54):
Do that again, man.
Speaker 5 (53:55):
And I'm glad, I'm very very glad to hear it.
But even though on Love and Hip Hop Spice. She
it was a mess. It was a bigger message that
she was trying to convey, and it was exactly what
you were saying. She's like, man, this this is different
in America than it is back but like, you don't
get certain things if you're not a fairer skin. You know,
and people here because Love and hip Hop is American,
(54:16):
people was looking at spices like, what the hell, why
would you you know? Black skin is beautiful always, you
know what I mean. So, but now I totally do
get what you're saying. It is totally different culturally, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:29):
Trust me, because we only have blacks in Jamaica. Yeah,
so for us, it's not racism. It's colorism. Like the
lights that skin you are, it's like you climb social
it's crazy work.
Speaker 5 (54:40):
Did you have any effects after that, like long term
because you were doing it for a while.
Speaker 4 (54:45):
Long term effects just some pictures that I don't want
to look at.
Speaker 1 (54:51):
They used to say I was bleaching, and they would
always fend me pictures of you and have me.
Speaker 3 (54:55):
Slide by side.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
He was and then he was cute and damn face,
it ain't like.
Speaker 3 (55:08):
God metic surgery.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
If they I don't know. Tell him the truth, Michael,
what happened? You have polyms in my nose? I would
snore a lot and couldn't store, so they removed the polyms.
I didn't touch my nose.
Speaker 2 (55:23):
My nose is the same, Michael.
Speaker 3 (55:27):
Do you still get nervous when you perform?
Speaker 4 (55:29):
What's nervous? Is it soul? That was that it taste?
Is it contagious? M don't We don't do none of us.
I know that's won't do that all.
Speaker 6 (55:37):
Do you like to go back to those areas that
you grew up on, like drive through Brooklyn, drive America.
Speaker 5 (55:45):
So hard.
Speaker 6 (55:51):
I'm not going by, but like in Brooklyn, I mean
like areas in in in Brooklyn.
Speaker 4 (56:01):
Yes, exactly, White Playings roll back in the day twenty seven,
twenty fifth, Yes, do you go back up? No, sir,
don't you know what I mean? But seriously, why I'm
just staying out of trouble. I don't want to be
involved in nothing negative? Never. Yeah, so we stay away
from that.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
I love it. Well.
Speaker 6 (56:23):
This weekend, you should have your tickets already. If not,
it's sold out. You're gonna have to go to step
Hub and pay grands and grands and grands for it,
but definitely check them out and we appreciate you for
joining us anytime.
Speaker 3 (56:33):
Brother pull up.
Speaker 4 (56:33):
Yeah, I'm a big up Charlotte man, big up. This
is your envy, big up. Yes, yeah, no, God, it
is the graand Test.
Speaker 1 (56:43):
That's right, we are. It's the Breakfast Club. It's vibes,
Cartel long be coming, a straight thing.
Speaker 3 (56:50):
She gets them from somebody that knows. Somebody gets to detail.
Speaker 2 (56:53):
I'm that knows a little bit about everything.
Speaker 3 (56:56):
She'd be having the Latest on the Latest with Lauren
la Rosa. Sometimes you have fact, sometimes you have details.
Speaker 4 (57:03):
Sometimes you have a little bit every.
Speaker 17 (57:04):
Time on the Breakfast Club to me, okay, so quickly,
I want to take a minute to send some love
to Jasmine Sullivan. So it was her birthday on the
ninth and people have been posting and telling her Happy Birthday.
She just posted in response to it and let us
know that she was thankful for all the love and
she really needed it at this time because she recently
lost a baby. She said that she's been, you know,
(57:27):
trying to heal from the loss of her baby, which
she realized would be two months yesterday, and that she's
also been, you know, just in her thoughts about her mom.
Her mom passed away not a little bit ago, and
you know, she's just been trying to heal from that.
She's so she says to all the fans and everyone
who posted and told her happy birthday, she thinks, you
guys for that, because she's dealing with life's a whooping
(57:49):
right now.
Speaker 2 (57:50):
Sending her some love.
Speaker 3 (57:51):
Definitely sending her healing energy.
Speaker 4 (57:52):
Man, Lord have mercy. Everybody going through something.
Speaker 17 (57:57):
Yeah, and you never know what people are going through either.
That's that's a big thing. So Neo sat down with
Angie Martinez and he talked about his relationship and answered
a lot of the questions that I think some people
had about how this whole thing works. So one of
the things that they talked about was, you know, just
you know, what are some of the challenges of dealing
with Yes, I believe it's for for girlfriends, So let's
(58:20):
take a listen to Niyo.
Speaker 2 (58:21):
One of the challenges be honest, because don't make it sound.
Speaker 3 (58:24):
Like it's no, no, no no no.
Speaker 6 (58:25):
So one of the major challenges is time because I
don't have a lot of free time. You know, I
have seven beautiful children, I have a career that is
still moving like, you know, like it's still twenty twenty five.
I mean twenty oh five in this thing. So I
don't have a lot of free time, and everybody needs
their own individual time. You know, we do things as
a group, but in a relationship like this, you have
(58:46):
to make sure that individual time is just as poigant
as group time. So you know, there's certain situations where
one may feel like this one is getting a little
more attention, or this one is getting a little more time,
or something like that. But again, whenever that happened, I
bring everybody together. We all hash it out right then
and there. Okay, let's you know, bring bring your issue
to the table and we resolve it as a group.
Speaker 2 (59:08):
That's the only way of work. You haven't got good time.
I'm having a great time, having a great I'm tired.
Speaker 4 (59:13):
No.
Speaker 17 (59:15):
I was wondering if that was the main thing I
was watching, see, like if he talked about how some.
Speaker 5 (59:18):
Of his kids or some of those women this, yeah,
but they also really got like eleven kids. What do
you mean you just call the meeting this one. Me
feel like I'm spending too much time with this one.
It just sounds like he's like a father again, like
to a whole nother set of kids.
Speaker 2 (59:34):
And let's hash it out.
Speaker 5 (59:35):
Put it on the table. What didn't you like today?
You know, okay, I didn't check your toes today, but
I did.
Speaker 2 (59:39):
You know what I'm saying, What.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
About somebody period on at the same time. Oh, that's
gotta be something.
Speaker 2 (59:45):
Then he can go get a fifth.
Speaker 1 (59:47):
And also, but what if everybody period on but one
and it's sexy time? So I can only be what
time I can only be with this one we get
jealous of. Did they say, hey, we understand, they gotta understand.
Speaker 17 (01:00:01):
Well, he did say that he takes time with different
you know, the different women separately. But he said that,
you know, there are sometimes where one woman at the
time might be the person that he goes to for
movie talker or like.
Speaker 5 (01:00:13):
He has different things in the corner. Fistballed up, they upset.
Speaker 17 (01:00:17):
I think they have an understanding, is what it seems like.
What I gather from this conversation is that they have
an understanding. He does give each woman a separate time
because they're separate, like they're all different rules.
Speaker 3 (01:00:26):
Yes, yea, they all got to roll to play. You
got a point guard. You gotta center, you gotta forward,
you gotta shooting guard.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
Yep.
Speaker 17 (01:00:31):
He said he might talk to one about art. The
other he might watch Zeus with. So he got the
best of both for us.
Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
Watch what's the young one? I guarantee he the youngest
out of all of them.
Speaker 5 (01:00:39):
Then he also say that they're not allowed to date
anybody else.
Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
Yes, he did, and we have that clip. Let's take
a listen.
Speaker 6 (01:00:45):
The main rule is just to keep it a buck like.
We're not gonna lie, and I'm not gonna lie to
each other. We're not gonna sit up and blow smoke.
You know, I ain't selling no dreams and I'm not
forcing anybody to be here. If for whatever reason, you
decide to sing for you no more. The door is
never like everyone that is here is here by choice.
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
The most.
Speaker 6 (01:01:04):
The question I get asked the most is are they
allowed to date outside of me? That's the question I
get all the damn time, and I'm answering right now. No,
here's the thing. When I got with these women, I
did not ask for their exclusivity. I did not demand
their exclusivity.
Speaker 4 (01:01:19):
They offered it.
Speaker 6 (01:01:20):
I said, do you understand that your exclusivity to me,
does not mean my exclusivity to you?
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Okay with this? Yes, okay cool? Since you are.
Speaker 6 (01:01:28):
Offering your exclusivity and I'm taking it now, there's rules
that I need you to follow. But at the same time,
I don't do ownership, So should that situation never ever
come up? Nothing is above a conversation, Neil, like I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:01:45):
The head of this house. I am the head. I
am the head of this class. You don't like the rules?
Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
Had on that? Sure to each his own?
Speaker 3 (01:02:02):
Is that a life you would want to live?
Speaker 4 (01:02:04):
It's on?
Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
He said, he might not even live it forever. He's
just right now. It's what makes him happy and he
wants now listen to it and it just sounds tired.
Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
Is it a life you would want to try? I
think anybody would try talking to you, Envy.
Speaker 3 (01:02:16):
I'm talking to you, Envy.
Speaker 2 (01:02:20):
No, you want to try? Would you want to dry?
Speaker 3 (01:02:24):
You know not?
Speaker 11 (01:02:26):
You can?
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
You can hear you hurt him the first I said, No, okay.
Speaker 3 (01:02:29):
I did see me the other day though, I saw
wh when he was up there.
Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
What did you get my high five? And did you
give him a pound?
Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
What did you say? I gave him a pound? What
did you say it no matter what I said? And
what do you say to you? How is that one?
I said, Hey, man, be safe out here in New York.
You see what having with young buck when he had.
Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
Got caught without it had on, don't get caught, That's
what I said.
Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
That's not what I said. No, they don't amy glued
on like that way you got on right.
Speaker 1 (01:02:54):
Now, you hear me. I'm not the one, but I
only know it's good because you told me. I thought
it was real.
Speaker 3 (01:03:09):
But what's that?
Speaker 4 (01:03:10):
You know?
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
A couple of days ago, I said, you know why
your wigs look good because they look real?
Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
Yes, what the hell did you?
Speaker 3 (01:03:17):
Points? Are you saying you.
Speaker 4 (01:03:23):
Did?
Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:03:25):
No, it did.
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
It's the same way you didn't hear Indian asked the
question you pointed to me and your hand was a
week too. I just be putting the wigs off. They
look good easy. First of all, that was yesterday, alright, saluting.
Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
Alright, don't care.
Speaker 4 (01:03:50):
I don't know what he's like.
Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
Bob, call what the hell you?
Speaker 4 (01:03:53):
Just before?
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
After that hour, doctor Keiva Lok needs to come to
the fron under the congregation. Man, we gotta protect our kids.
We'll discuss, all right, we'll get to that. Next to
the breakfast Club.
Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
Go morning, you're checking out the breakfast club.
Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
I was born in Donkey. It's the Donkey of the
Dead Donkeys.
Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
Breakfast club, Yes Donkey Today for Friday, April eleventh, goes
to a fifty three year old woman named doctor Kiva Lark. Now,
Kiva is from Florida. And you know what your Uncleshalla
always says about the great state of Florida. The craziest
people in America come from the Bronson All of Florida,
and today is no exception.
Speaker 4 (01:04:41):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
Doctor Kiva Lark is an assistant principal at a middle
school in Florida, and she was arrested after allegedly forcing
a student to massage her feet and saying inappropriate things
to him.
Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
Let's go to w e s h NBC two for
the report Police foot Rubs and nicknames.
Speaker 14 (01:04:58):
An assistant principal at Lake Burying Creek Middle School in
Pontiana as accused of behaving inappropriately with a student. Pole Kenny,
Japanese say, fifty three year old doctor Kaivo Lark told
a thirteen year old boy to rub her feet. It
was allegedly punishment for throwing paper during a test. Witnesses
say she told the boy she was doing it so
he would know what full play is for when he
(01:05:19):
gets a girlfriend. Witnesses also told deputies Lark would refer
to the boy as sexy chocolate while passing him in
the hallway. Mark told deputies there was a joke and
just trying to humble the boy.
Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
Ash turns, he turns, he turned thirteen. Soon he comes
home and tells you that what happens there?
Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
What are we talking about?
Speaker 1 (01:05:41):
We just gonna have to homeschool our kids at this point.
We are never going to get a handle on our
parental paranoia if we don't. You know what parental paranoia is,
right to anxiety you feel just being a parent. How
can you properly function knowing that we are taking our
kids to places that are supposed to be safe spaces,
places that are supposed to be making them better, but
they have to deal with humans like doctor Kieva Lark.
Speaker 3 (01:06:01):
Now, I let the record show I come from an era.
Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
Well, older women in my life needed they feet rob
goddamn it. Okay, I'm from Mons Corner, South Carolina. You
already know rubbing an older woman's feet was a regular.
Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
Occurrence, at least in my life. But not just any woman,
your grandma.
Speaker 1 (01:06:16):
Okay, you're not a good grandchild if you haven't put
some warm water and some f some salt in a
basin and then rub your grandmother's feet. Okay, But doctor
Keeva Lark at fifty three, you may be old enough
to be this thirteen year old little boy's grandmother.
Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
But that is not your grandchild.
Speaker 4 (01:06:32):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:06:32):
Not to mention, you got a witness who said that
you told the child you was doing this so that
he would know what full play is for when he
gets the girlfriend. But you also referred to this little
thirteen year old boy allegedly as sexy chocolate while passing
him in the hallway at school. Now she is from
a certain era. Was she trying to say sexual chocolate?
Like in coming to America? Either way, it's inappropriate.
Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
Listen to me. I feel this young man's pain. Okay.
It's hard being handsome your whole.
Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
Life, all right, when you are handsome your whole life,
when you got that glow about you.
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
These older women can't control themselves.
Speaker 1 (01:07:07):
Trust me, I know they already experiencing menopause hot flashes
all the time. And here we come, just all handsome,
making them feel intense heat and sweat even more. But
just because we've been handsome our whole lives does not
give these older women the right to take advantage of us.
Speaker 4 (01:07:24):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:07:24):
Doctor Keieva Locke admitted several days later that she crossed
the line. She said it was only a joke and
that she was trying to humble the student, humble them
for what She even said her actions were inappropriate, but
she denied saying anything inappropriate to the student. I have
no reason to believe you, ma'am, but I keep scressing.
Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
This over and over and over again.
Speaker 1 (01:07:46):
Give young men that are being taken advantage of by
older women the same level of concern you do young
girls being taken advantage of by older men. And furthermore,
don't become a teacher if you don't have the ability.
Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
Or desire to empower kids.
Speaker 1 (01:08:02):
Teachers provide kids with the tools and opportunities to learn,
grow and become confident. Okay, we're trying to have teachers
that are raising young men and girls to be capable
individuals in this society.
Speaker 3 (01:08:15):
If you just the predator getting into.
Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
Education because you want to hurt kids, do us all
the biggest favor in die. Okay, you can't be out
here as a fifty three year old woman assistant principal
getting your feet rubbed by a thirteen year old allegedly
calling him sexy chocolate and telling them that you want
him to know what full play is.
Speaker 3 (01:08:32):
But when he gets a girlfriend?
Speaker 4 (01:08:34):
Oh god, where what? Mac?
Speaker 16 (01:08:37):
What?
Speaker 4 (01:08:37):
Big Mac?
Speaker 3 (01:08:38):
Medium sized Mac?
Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
Just walking down? Nah?
Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
Nah, I just you was saying some things I didn't
all the way agree with.
Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
Hear me out, Oh boy, no, not for real. Not
listen to me. Think about what she's doing.
Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
She's doing a good service because now don't look at
me like that, and you think about it.
Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
How many things did you learn in school that you
do not use today?
Speaker 4 (01:08:56):
Mac?
Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
Long division? Why did I learn? Writney curse?
Speaker 6 (01:09:00):
Wait, I'm trying to talk to to think about Moody
right there the square root of why why?
Speaker 8 (01:09:06):
What?
Speaker 2 (01:09:07):
But rubbing a female's feet for four play?
Speaker 3 (01:09:10):
How many women really wish I am currently? How many
we wish they?
Speaker 1 (01:09:15):
I am holding up doctor keble Lark's mug shot to
the camera right, just hilarious doing God's working around the room.
I'm showing DJ ANDV doing God. I'm showing red or
board up. Now I will show big Mac, Big Mac.
This is the woman.
Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
Doctor, this is this is her. She's handsome. Yes, okays, you.
Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
Were saying, so listen, teachers, you take an oath to
educate the kids should not be doing stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
Here there you.
Speaker 1 (01:09:47):
Donkeys give doctor keeble Lark the biggest he let me
should played the game.
Speaker 3 (01:09:53):
She looked like.
Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
I never would expect I didn't expect that. I mean,
hell no, no, I did not. That looked like one
of the Drew studs.
Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
No, I don't do that. I could have been loved to.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:10:12):
She looked like all my life I had to find
she wants to sell. She got two thousand steps.
Speaker 1 (01:10:20):
Walking, she needs her feet, just not buying somebody else's
thirteen year old child having mercy.
Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
All right, well, thank you for that donkey of today.
Now when we come back, Anthony got back, checked back,
Jesus Christ.
Speaker 6 (01:10:39):
She looks stressed. God bless her feet looked like they
heard God blessing. All right, Anthony Anderson. And when we
come back, it's the Breakfast Club. Good morning, the Breakfast Club.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
Morning.
Speaker 6 (01:10:50):
Everybody is d j en Vy just hilarious. Charlamagne the
God we are the Breakfast Club. We got a special
We have special guests in the building.
Speaker 3 (01:10:58):
Just one is running a little late.
Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
The first master guest we have is Anthony Anderson.
Speaker 3 (01:11:03):
What's going on every how you feel?
Speaker 2 (01:11:04):
I'm good?
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
I'm good?
Speaker 4 (01:11:05):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
Marseille Maude was supposed to be here. But you say
you blame yourself for her.
Speaker 1 (01:11:08):
You know, it's my fault that she has become the
star that she is. And I don't blame her, but
she she Hollywood today, she's sixteen minutes late. When y'all
are filming together, because y'all end the new movie together,
G twenty twenty, when y'all filming together, how do you
get out of the rhythm in mind.
Speaker 3 (01:11:23):
State of Blackish? Because y'all did that for so long?
Speaker 1 (01:11:26):
Yeah, you know what, that was something that we never
really discussed while we were on set. You know, Viola,
you know, requested me to be her husband, and then
they were looking for someone to play our child or children,
and I told them to hire Marseille, And never once
did Marseille and I discuss the rhythm that we have
had because we have a great shorthand with one another
(01:11:47):
for eight years and one hundred and seventy five episodes
of Blackish, But you.
Speaker 3 (01:11:51):
Know, I made it.
Speaker 1 (01:11:52):
I wanted to make sure that no one confused that
or saw us falling to that pattern. Just just act
and knowing someone the way that we do. And I
hope we didn't, did you guys? You got to see
the movie yet, I see something it Okay, I don't think.
I don't think we did, you know, And that's something
that we never discussed with one another. But it's something
that we talked about, you know, since we've been out
(01:12:14):
doing press and people ask us that question.
Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
She's here, ladies and gentlemen, here.
Speaker 4 (01:12:22):
Morning.
Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
Oh my god, it was worth the way. Good morning,
It was worth your way. I'm be honest with you.
Speaker 1 (01:12:28):
He was just talking about He definitely was, you know,
And I told him I created this monster.
Speaker 3 (01:12:39):
Both of you and I old to play ex military
in this.
Speaker 1 (01:12:42):
When she called you, you say, Okay, I gotta get
in some type of shape because I know LA gonna
be in shap He wasn't in shape.
Speaker 3 (01:12:50):
Figure all you read the script, I got my ass kicked.
I gotta trained for that. But no, no, you know,
I thought I was.
Speaker 1 (01:13:02):
I thought I was in decent shape to to portray
whatever it is that they needed me to do in
in this film, and it was it was cool, it
was great. But yeah, when you get a call from
not just Viola Davids, Viola is an egot, man. I mean,
you know when when somebody like that requests you, you
know you have to show up and show out. And
I believe that's what we all did, Marseille included.
Speaker 6 (01:13:22):
Now, I say, how's it dealing with Anthony? Because he's
been in your life for so long? Right, and this
is when you're a lot younger, You're twenty years old. Now,
how is it dealing.
Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
I've been through this before.
Speaker 4 (01:13:40):
Before.
Speaker 11 (01:13:41):
I was.
Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
From the heart.
Speaker 19 (01:13:50):
It's always will forever be like my bonus dad.
Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
I love him so much.
Speaker 19 (01:13:56):
He's he's seen me from ever since. Basically I came
out the WORL.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
To now not that far back.
Speaker 3 (01:14:03):
I mean your real daddy has something to do with that.
Speaker 19 (01:14:05):
Yeah, well I was eight, Okay, so it's been a minute,
and I mean it was it was so much fun
and honestly it was filming once again. It just was
like picking up where we left off.
Speaker 1 (01:14:17):
But I want to say this about Marseille. Marseille came
in an audition for black at eight years old. Yeah,
I witnessed her greatness everything that the world is seen
right now, I witnessed this at eight. And I pulled
her aside and I told her this and and and
this is where she is. And I also told her
that one day I'm gonna be coming to her and
(01:14:38):
begging for a job. So I just need you to
remember this moment right here. Uh So when I come
to you, you got my back, And she was like,
I got you.
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
Now you promised her call when she turned sixteen?
Speaker 4 (01:14:48):
Was that true?
Speaker 3 (01:14:49):
I mean, everybody want to talk about that. You followed through?
I did you follow through?
Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
I didn't follow No, I promised you. I'm But first off,
she ain't got driver's license.
Speaker 5 (01:15:02):
Okay, I'm a responsible parent, responsible parents.
Speaker 19 (01:15:08):
He didn't know that for a minute though. He just didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
You don't think. I keep in contact with your mama
and your daddy talk to him.
Speaker 19 (01:15:15):
But still they like, oh, you got a license, but.
Speaker 4 (01:15:18):
Do you have a license.
Speaker 15 (01:15:24):
Car?
Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
But she didn't just have a car. She has a vehicle.
Speaker 19 (01:15:27):
I have a car, but I haven't.
Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
When you ain't got t stop you tell them what
you got. I just have something. The word don't need to.
Speaker 1 (01:15:38):
She has a luxury vehicle, but no, not even a license.
She ain't even got a drivers permit.
Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
Okay, just have a drive.
Speaker 7 (01:15:44):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
We call that, we call it. You may have.
Speaker 19 (01:15:53):
You Carol and Johnson, listen, it's there. When I ever,
whenever I decided to take that, I definitely said I
wanted to get it before I turned twenty one.
Speaker 4 (01:16:05):
I can't.
Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
I can't be legal in these spaces.
Speaker 3 (01:16:08):
And then been in these.
Speaker 1 (01:16:10):
Streets for a while, and and she no longer wants
the car that she asked me for, so I'm good,
I'm off the hook.
Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
She she wanted a purple electric car. I'm not gonna
mention the name, but she wanted.
Speaker 1 (01:16:20):
A purple electric car, purple, and I was gonna get
it for I wasn't shopping, know, I literally I went
to the I went to the electric car place and
and and built.
Speaker 10 (01:16:27):
It for her and all that dun Yeah, I did.
Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
So tell us about twenty. Tell me about that G
wagon you got. Since we talked about tires, let's promote.
Speaker 19 (01:16:40):
Let's promote.
Speaker 3 (01:16:43):
Promoting your your g wagon.
Speaker 1 (01:16:44):
No, let's talk about this movie G twenty that starts
streaming globally.
Speaker 3 (01:16:48):
We just don't make regional movies. We made global movies.
Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
I want maybe going to ask you about that, Anthy,
because I feel like your international presidence has grown tremendously.
Speaker 3 (01:16:56):
Have you been intentional about that? Always been intentional about that, man?
Speaker 1 (01:17:00):
And you know what it started when I started making
movies with Jet Lee twenty some years ago. First one
was Romeo Must Die and that really was just on
a global scale.
Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
And then to be.
Speaker 1 (01:17:11):
Able to work with some of the people that I've
worked with in almost thirty years man, you know, with
Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Jim Carrey, the Fairly Brothers, Martin Scorsese,
you know, just people like that. It just continues to
grow and get bigger. Yeah, so it really been intentional.
And it was also intentional to move away from the
comedy at one point to do more dramatic roles so
(01:17:33):
I wouldn't just be typecast it's just a fat, funny dude.
Speaker 3 (01:17:37):
And it was like, no, this is what I do.
Speaker 1 (01:17:38):
I've been training at this since I was nine years old,
So let me really show you my range and what
I can do. And so I was able to do
that by doing shows like Law and Order and The
Shield and movies like Hustle and Flow and The Departed
and things like that.
Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
All of those were strategic moves.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
Yeah, and speaking of range, how was it seeing Viola Davis.
Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
In her action Hack's it's not real.
Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
She's amazing.
Speaker 19 (01:18:06):
It's definitely not an act.
Speaker 3 (01:18:07):
Let me know, I said she's a hack. No, I
didn't say it. Heard they were like, she's an actor.
I didn't know what you said.
Speaker 4 (01:18:16):
It was it was.
Speaker 2 (01:18:17):
It was amazing.
Speaker 3 (01:18:19):
Yeah, you've seen Viola cry on spreen all that. We
didn't even made a joke about her and the snap
bubbles and tears.
Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
On Blackish, it was. It was great to you know,
you don't talk about the old snop bubble enough. That
was like Denzel's Glory too.
Speaker 3 (01:18:35):
Yeah, that was. But working with Viola was a dream
come true. And uh, I mean she's an egouy.
Speaker 1 (01:18:43):
Yeah, it's They're only about eighteen e guys in the world,
and you know, we got to work with one in
a very special way.
Speaker 6 (01:18:50):
You know, we have more with Anthony Anderson and Marse
Martin when we come back there.
Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
No movie.
Speaker 2 (01:18:55):
G twenty is available on Amazon Prime Now.
Speaker 3 (01:18:57):
It's The Breakfast Club.
Speaker 6 (01:18:58):
Good Morning Morning, everybody, DJ Envy, Jess, hilarious, Charlamagne the
guy we are the Breakfast Club were still kicking it
with Anthony Anderson and Marseille Martin and the new movie
G twenty is out right now.
Speaker 2 (01:19:10):
Jess, what does the Blackish reunion look like?
Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
I don't think it's ever gonna happen, say, don't show
up the things? Why? No, we would love to have it.
We would love and I hope we have a Blackish
(01:19:36):
reunion soon. How long have been since the show ended?
Speaker 7 (01:19:38):
On it? Two?
Speaker 3 (01:19:39):
Three years ago, going on three years?
Speaker 19 (01:19:41):
Yes, I was seventeen going on eighteen.
Speaker 5 (01:19:44):
Yeah, yeah, you close as everybody the cast they got
everybody still keep in touch.
Speaker 19 (01:19:48):
Yes, my my twin Miles, he's truly my best friend.
Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
Playboy CARDI now, yes.
Speaker 19 (01:19:55):
Yes, he's in his Playboy CARDI era love him.
Speaker 7 (01:20:01):
No, no.
Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
Outside side white play when I calling my man play yeah, yeah,
but no.
Speaker 4 (01:20:18):
I want to put that on him.
Speaker 19 (01:20:20):
We have a friend group, like all together and we're
working on some things as a whole.
Speaker 3 (01:20:24):
And did you call him back last night?
Speaker 2 (01:20:25):
Did your face time after we were I went.
Speaker 16 (01:20:27):
To sleep.
Speaker 19 (01:20:31):
Mentally, so I'll be turned off my phone, but we
talk all the time.
Speaker 1 (01:20:35):
How much it dis roll scratch you, Anthony, because you
know you said it's a drama, and like you are
for the comedy and you're also.
Speaker 3 (01:20:40):
Playing like the the natural role. Yeah, like my man
is not an actor. Woman is like a head of
the household.
Speaker 4 (01:20:47):
This one.
Speaker 3 (01:20:47):
I'm talking like that. Yeah, and I'm not I he's
asking questions.
Speaker 4 (01:20:51):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
He didn't. He didn't see nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:20:55):
So you know, again it goes back to, you know,
the dynamic between Marseille and I, you know, not falling
into that shorthand that we have. And you know, I've
been a part of some great films with action in them.
I've never been a part of an action film and
so I just had to be prepared for that to
make sure that it was believable. And it's not all
(01:21:16):
that's just an up there going through the motions and
doing that. So you know, I showed up, you know,
as I could.
Speaker 3 (01:21:23):
And to answer your question about you know, it's role reversal.
Speaker 1 (01:21:26):
You know, normally the man is the president of the
United States, you know, and the first ladies being the nurturer.
So these roles were reversed, you know, and you rarely
get to see that, you know, And I was playing
the nurturing role in this character or with this character
from my children, and allowing the power, not that women
don't have power, use that power and have that power
(01:21:48):
in films, but allowing Viola's character had to have that
power and wield it and not be emasculated by it,
and just understand that I'm standing next to this right here.
We are in this together. But she has her role
and not have mine. So I just wanted to make
sure I showed up for that and not fall flat.
And so people's like, Okay, that was believable, that that
(01:22:09):
was real.
Speaker 4 (01:22:09):
Could you be in a relationship like that in real life?
Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
I could.
Speaker 1 (01:22:12):
I'm secure in my masculinity, in my manhood and who
I am and what I bring to the table, So yeah,
I could definitely be secure in a relationship.
Speaker 3 (01:22:20):
You have to have the money and power them, it
doesn't matter. Wait, we're a team. How did that work
for you?
Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
Month say, because you're the boss, you've got your own
production company, you are and whatever, Yes, you.
Speaker 3 (01:22:30):
Know, how would you want the man to show up?
Speaker 4 (01:22:32):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:22:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 19 (01:22:35):
I think honestly, I think it's communication and listening and
understanding and a willing to understand. I feel like at times.
I've had a multiple conversations with a bunch of different people,
and I think the main thing is them ready to
respond without actually listening and understanding what the whole situation.
Speaker 3 (01:22:57):
You hear a race car driver guy, and.
Speaker 19 (01:23:01):
He's really he's really great at that, honestly, like.
Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
Great being rich her, great at being what you need
in vulnerable understanding.
Speaker 3 (01:23:09):
No, he is, you know, I get that from from
the two or three conversations that I have with him.
Speaker 19 (01:23:15):
Yeah, he's great, And I mean I think what's what's important.
Speaker 1 (01:23:19):
Is is that because if it was not, I was
gonna run him off. It's being real, Hey man, you're
not good enough, But he is.
Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
He's the best.
Speaker 3 (01:23:31):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:23:32):
You got your production company and everything. You've done a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:23:37):
No, it was it.
Speaker 2 (01:23:37):
I didn't even ask nothing yet.
Speaker 4 (01:23:38):
Damn.
Speaker 5 (01:23:39):
I wanted to know what else did you want to do?
You know, you at a very young age, you've done
so much. Yeah, you've still got a lot more life
to live and a lot more career to go. What
else do you want to do?
Speaker 19 (01:23:48):
I think seeing how far my creativity can get. I'm
working on my festival right now, which is very world
building for me, which is very exciting. It'll be it's
called say Summer Cookout, and it's a it's a destination
type of festival. So the first year was in Atlanta,
second years it was in DC. This year it'll be
in Houston in August thirty first.
Speaker 3 (01:24:10):
So what do we do.
Speaker 19 (01:24:14):
It's a black owned businesses, vendors from it's like Texas
based vendors. This year we have performers of course that
is from catered to that community and it's HBCU centered.
So I think that is something that I've always wanted
to do. It's a it's an avenue that I feel
like is so untouched and mostly overlooked, and I'm very
(01:24:38):
excited to and also be in touch with new adults
my age, you know, going through the same things. I mean,
even though I'm doing this and you see a camera
on my face, there is no difference between that person.
So and it's no phones, it's no phones. The first
year we did no plus ones. It was literally come
as you are and to be able to have these
(01:24:59):
celebrities and these students want to become them one day
or do something in that light and they have real
conversations at the cookout. Yeah, I mean It's something that
I've truly wanted to do. And then I'm on top
of that. We have podcasts, of course, the movies coming up.
I have a movie coming out with Corney b Vance soon.
Speaker 3 (01:25:18):
Okay, we're not we're not, we're not. We're not here
to talk about she said.
Speaker 6 (01:25:22):
Okay, I just told you said, well, G twenty is
streaming now on Amazon, not.
Speaker 1 (01:25:28):
Just streaming now, streaming global, telling globally. We don't make
regional films.
Speaker 2 (01:25:34):
Thank you so much, Marse Martin and Anthony Anderson. I
just forgot about me, said her name first.
Speaker 4 (01:25:39):
She should.
Speaker 1 (01:25:41):
You just texted me by showing up the way that
you did. They know who the real diva is. You've
earned it, Martill.
Speaker 19 (01:25:47):
You have.
Speaker 3 (01:25:50):
First on the He was the reason we got the
first three seasons of I'm just gonna give it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
Oh, it's going to be where, some somehow, some way,
he play yourself.
Speaker 19 (01:26:08):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (01:26:12):
Science. And then you got to put me a whole
have to be a horn.
Speaker 19 (01:26:21):
That was all her.
Speaker 4 (01:26:22):

Speaker 3 (01:27:18):

I love. White people love this radio station. Because I'm not.
Speaker 19 (01:27:24):

say they're gonna do something and then don't do it.
And I was looking for you black people. Probably Yes,

the same order, but this time he did a lot
of like mixtape. Besides like the songs people who are
real friends actually listened to. So that was dope obviously,
Juv Manny Wayne Dope and.

it was dope. Okay, this week I want to get
into Deoncey Hitchcock. He actually just dropped an album. This
is his first project since being an indie artist, so
he's been in like a labeled deal that had him
stuck and he couldn't really do anything. So now that
he's free, he's out. And the song that I like
the most so far as called Boorn Broke Die Rich.
Speaker 2 (01:28:34):
I ain't gonna lie. I used to when I was
on a perky.
Speaker 3 (01:28:41):
Liking him for a long time. I used to post
his videos back in the day and.

car free styles years ago Atlanta.

songs I've heard over the years, and it feels like,
I mean, it's never really too late, but it feels
like it's a little too late, like there was a
moment when when was.
Speaker 3 (01:29:18):
Red hot, I would have loved that Amigos Little Baby.
