Speaker 1 (00:00):
W k QUI Detroit vs. Toledo is Mojo in the Morning. Mojo,
He's amazing live Mojo. Why let me take you back
(00:25):
to the beginning.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Is alrighty, ready, you're listening to Mojo in the Morning.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
You're a doo doo ahead, let's go alright, Mojo in
the Morning. Megan is trying to cut back. You're trying
to do something responsible. You're trying to be an adult.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Just trying to afford my bills. Priority suck, by the way,
and also when did streaming service is become so astronomically expensive,
Because at this point, listen, I'm very very happy that
I live in downtown Detroit.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
It comes with so many great opportunities and experiences. I'm
very happy, But it also comes with some very dumb
things I have to be responsible for, Like paying for
a parking spot makes me angrier than I can even
explain the fact that I have to pay to park
my car that's not even attached to my building, it's
blocks away, and then walk to my apartment drives me
(01:30):
up a wall. So I was trying to justify. I
was doing some girl math, trying to figure out how
to essentially make my Parking Spot free because it makes
me so angry. And I decided the best way to
do that, because I'm so disappointed in streaming services is
to just cut the cord on so many of them. Really,
and I have canceled. I'm not kidding you. Me, the
girl who loves movies and television, has canceled every single
(01:52):
streaming service and every water every single Apple TV gone,
Hulu gone, Netflix gone, Hbo gone Time, all of it
gone peacock.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
So everything is gone. You're being responsible. That's amazing.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
And I thought I was really going to feel like
I was missing out, Like especially during COVID we all
talked about the Tiger King and Joe's there were show
after show after show where everybody was watching and I
was like, man, I'm going to feel so out of
the loop. We have not had any of it. I
don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Yeah, there's actually that. It's funny because somebody was telling
me that because of that strike that happened, the entertainment
strike that happened, that there's really not a lot to stream,
like nothing that's really that exciting to do. So it's
funny that here you are, you're cutting all this stuff
out and you're really not missing it. And this is
from a woman, And Kevin, this is I don't know
if you knew this before you started on the show
(02:49):
with us. This woman literally we had to pry her
away from her television. I mean it was it was
her her life support. I agree.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
How like plans photo synthesize from the sun, I did
that in front of a TV.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, yeah, before I had a baby. That was me.
So I was wondering, it's good that you say this.
I'm wondering from our listeners. I wonder what is it
that you just recently either got rid of or dumped.
What did you give up that suddenly has turned into
your saving a whole bunch of money because you did that.
(03:22):
Because I hear different stories all the time of people
that are like, I have given up, like you said,
the streaming services, and then I'll hear, you know, another story,
it's like I have given up my morning coffee and
now I'm going and I'm making it at home, And
then I'll hear how much money they're saving. Which would
you share with the listeners? How much money will you
save by not having all these streaming services? A month easily.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
I want to say, two d and fifty bucks.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
See nice kids, that's real money.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
The crazy thing about that is that was the point
of having a streaming service because cable was so expensive.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Yeah, now all of a sudden, streaming service is more expensive.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Than casey and nine times out of TV you only
use five, especially like Hulu Live. The only reason I
got that is so I can watch CNT for basketball,
and that was really it. So there's really no a
la carte service, rock cod be like, I only want CNC,
HBO and Da Da Da Da Da.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Cassandra, what's up? Hey, good morning, good morning. What's going
on now?
Speaker 5 (04:17):
Especially since most of them are getting rid of password cheering?
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Now I'm going to go back to cable And honestly,
it's wild. I'm doing deals now talking to my exfinity
of twenty dollars a month, you know what I mean.
And even if even if you do that for a
few months, you're thinking of all the money that you're saving.
And the problem is that, you know, a lot of
times we thought that this was going to be so
much savings, and like you said, you have to get
(04:40):
like three of them because you got three different shows
that you and they're all putting ads on now. It
used to just be straight streaming Dakota. What's up stream?
Speaker 5 (04:49):
So Megan was just talking the other day about how
her and her brother watched movies and stuff before the
one award.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Thing that I was before the Oscars.
Speaker 6 (04:58):
Yeah, yes, her brother.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Why don't they just split subscriptions of like certain things
that they may want or.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Need, because that's what I do with my mom.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
My mom pays for.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Like half more subscriptions. I paid for the other half,
and then I'm not getting screwed out of all that money,
and either is my mom.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
What I have found now is either the password sharing,
it'll stop you, or if you it knows my IP
addresses in a different city like my will straight up
be like, this isn't where you live. I know that
this isn't you, and it won't let you log in.
It's getting harder and harder to share those accounts. And
what I've noticed really is that it hasn't been that
(05:33):
big of a deal.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
At the court. I hate because I bought Hulu for
lou or for Jacob, and I want to watch Hulu
and it does the whole thing. Is this your home now?
And then it screws him when I do it. They shouldn't.
They shouldn't. You know, they got too fancy on us. Kevin?
What'd you give up? And are you saving some money?
Speaker 6 (05:54):
I am so. I stopped eating out for lunch. I
would spend twenty to thirty bucks every lunch, and I
just went and bought like canned soup and stuff that
I can eat in my office and spent I think
like twenty five bucks altogether for two weeks worth of food.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Holy cow, that's amazing. That's actually good money. By the way,
somebody sent us a DoorDash one. You're ready for this, Kevin.
You're talking about how much you're saving? Four one nine
says gave up door dash. I was spending six hundred
dollars a month on door dash and that's yeah, hey, Cad,
Yeah what kind of suit?
Speaker 2 (06:29):
We?
Speaker 6 (06:31):
Uh? You know? I got to go with that Campbell's
chunky anything whatever? Who was it? Whatever? Steve McNair's mom
was showing her.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
I gotta have.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Now, Gloria, what did you give up? And how much
are we saving?
Speaker 5 (06:55):
Oh? Honestly, I haven't even added up how much I've
been saving. But I came up getting my nails done.
It was like becoming a chore. And then it was
like higher than my like some of my bills in
my house. It was crazy. I just couldn't do it anymore.
Speaker 6 (07:09):
I gave it up.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
And how did the nails look? Claws looking?
Speaker 5 (07:13):
I mean honestly really short and very natural, which is
fine by me, and super plain, like I haven't even
put polish on them, and honestly, I can really care
a lot. The nail shops are like super crazy high.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Now leave my girl alone.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
I think good, you look good, you look great, Christie Hi?
What'd you give up? Christy Hi?
Speaker 2 (07:40):
So in twenty twenty, when COVID happened, I tried to
upgrade my.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
WiFi and it didn't work out. So I ended up
cutting off my.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Wi Fi after my my satellite, sorry my satellite and okay,
twenty twenty one. So I haven't had WiFi at home
since twenty twenty one.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Oh jeez, By the way, you're brave. That's the one
thing I won't give up. I'll give up my children
before i'll give up my wife. It was the Sigma, Yeah,
like I'll be honest with you. I'm gonna be quite
honest with you. I would rather give up driving around
frivolously and save money on gas than give up my WiFi.
(08:25):
I need it because I can't get my cell service
at home. Your your house is very hard to get service.
We also, I live in a bunker because I'm waiting
for the world Scott Mick. Yeah, Kwan, are you there? Kwan,
I'm gonna grab you right after I grab this next one,
So stay on meet with me because yours is gotta
(08:45):
be the last one, because this is the best one
of them all. Kwan, let me grab Michelle first, though, Kwan.
Say hello to Michelle. Hey, say hi to Kwan. Michelle.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
How you doing.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Good? Michelle? Tell everybody what you gave up and how
much money you're spending or saving.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
I was spending over two hundred dollars a month on Starbucks.
Every day I would get me a vented Carmel macchiato
with an extra shot. My husband was so over it.
The last Amazon Prime day, he bought me the nicest
expressive machine. Now I go to Starbucks, I buy the
big caramel sauce and I make my own caramel macchiados
every morning. Look at that now money, now.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Now check this one out. Michelle. We're talking about how
much money people are saving by giving things up. Kwan,
tell all of us, what did you give up going
to the strip club? Why it was fun with expenses?
Was it the ladies or the lamb chops that the lady?
(09:49):
How much money are you saving right now?
Speaker 5 (09:53):
I gotta zam up a couple of thousand every month.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
There's no ROI there? What was her name? Quand do
you need a personal strip rock and stuff by your house?
I take check he got by, he got the at
home curing strippers.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
I wonder if they wonder where you went?
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Ya? Kwan? Have they put out an APB looking for
you right now? Somebody student loan isn't getting paid right now.
By the way, Kwan, there are certain things in life
that you need to have to keep your motor running.
Thousands of dollars in strippers a month
Speaker 5 (10:33):
Hour, so we definitely keep the motors running.
