Welcome to or two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by
Stockton Mortgage. Now Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Welcome back out number two Kentucky Sports Radio eight F
I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven here
at the KS bar and grill Wings day, Uh dollar
Wings for the rest of the day, and uh a
night we are. We think we've got maybe the technology fixed.
We brought in the emergency equipment, so uh hopefully it

(01:25):
turns out well. Great crowd here, got some folks from Independence,
Kentucky they just told me, got some others.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
From Lexington and a good crowd of people here this morning.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
And uh, you know this has been great because we
have babies and dogs and I've I've I've handled all
of them like that's that's That's how you know.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
I'm in a good post win move.

Speaker 6 (01:45):
You're going up right, It's right.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
Babies, dogs, we just put it all together.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
We'll we'll make it work.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Babies, dogs are Republicans. You're adjusting very.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Place, so they're not in the same you have to
put Republicans. I like, there's they've I'd say most of
these people are Republicans. There's a baby and dogs.

Speaker 6 (02:02):
Rank who you'd want to be locked in a room
with for twenty four hours? Those three baby dog Republican.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Oh that's a good question. A Republican would be one
depends on but like you can't you can't be wearing
the hats and creating the memes. But just regular Republican.
One dog, two baby three?

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Wow, All right, now we know.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Look, the baby doesn't want me to be locked in
with it either.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
It's not gonna nothing's gonna happen positively for that baby
during that time. What am I gonna say to it?
Just look at it and start screaming and go stop.
You know, there's just there's only so much I can do.
A couple of little non basketball things. The television show Severance,
which I don't know if any of you have watched.
I know Drew's watched it. Even if you haven't watched it.

(02:47):
This is one of the coolest pieces of promotion I've
ever seen in my life. They went to Grand Central Station.

Speaker 5 (02:53):
Yesterday in New York. Did you see this?

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Did see it?

Speaker 4 (02:55):
They went to Grandstish Central Station and they set up
this glass and in the center of the station. So
if you've been to Grand Central Station, just think about
what it looks like in the center. They enclosed part
of it with glass, and they brought the set and
the people from Severance and had them in there for

(03:16):
like an hour.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
As if it was the show.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
So they were in character, sitting at their desk at
the cubicles to where it looked like you were watching
them actually at work on the show, same set, same outfits,
they were doing the same things. And I have to
tell you, if you had just been at Grand Central
Station to get your train and you came upon that.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
That would have been one of the coolest things ever.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
Just imagine whatever your favorite TV show is, if you
just walked into Grand Central Station and like it was
Jerry's apartment from Seinfeld was just there.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
That is what they did.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
And I thought it.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Did you see that?

Speaker 6 (03:55):
I did? I thought that was genius promotion. I want copycats.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
That was one of the coolest things I've ever brilliant.

Speaker 6 (04:01):
I mean, you just said they had the TV show
just sitting there.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
I mean it's just out.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
Imagine you're just going to catch your train and there's
Tony Soprano and Paully and the boys and they're recruiting
sopranos my favorite show. I mean, that would be just
so surrill to walk in. And I'm sure it's drawn
more and more attention.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
And they didn't break character, like they were in character
the whole time. They were acting out of the scene.
I don't know how it ended. I don't know how
they got them out of there, but the videos I saw,
I thought that was maybe the coolest piece of promotion
for a TV show because the second season that's coming
that I've ever seen brilliant.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
I mean, you guys have talked about I kind of
want to see it, but now I really want to
see it.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Just just that's on social media. Just google Severance Grand
Seal Station. You'll see it. Second thing, one of my
biggest complaints of day to day modern life is maybe
gonna get fixed. Are you ready? Now?

Speaker 5 (04:49):
I understand why they did this, but everybody knows.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
If you go to a CVS or a Walgreens, what's
the biggest change in the last three or four years,
everything's locked up, right, Like everything you have to get somebody,
You have to hit a button and they have to come.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
And like you can't get razor blades.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
You may see I shaved much less now because I
don't want to buy the razor blades.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
It takes too long to get the person to come
and unlock them.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Et cetera. Now, the reason they did that, they say,
is because they were getting a lot of theft in
some of their stores. People were just coming and grabbing
a bunch and leaving. The CEO of Walgreens did an
interview yesterday where he said, we screwed up. He goes,
it's made it worse. He said, yes, we cut down
on theft, but now people don't buy it because they
don't want to wait for us to come and let

(05:36):
them in. He said, So we would have been better
off just allowing some of the theft because it has hurt
ourselves much more locking everything up. So now they're going
to go back to unlocking everything again, which probably will
lead to some theft.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
I'm sure, But now he's right. I buy less things.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
At Walgreens and CBS because I don't want to wait
for him to come and unlock the thing.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
I'm also guilty go walk and get something. It's usually
razor blades on the always.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (06:08):
You look at it, and you look over and there's
one person. They have a line of six people with
the cash here. It's like, well it looks like I'm
not shaving today. I'll just get on out here. All
Amazon that to the house. That's exactly right.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Like you, you go to a store in parts so
you can get it and get out.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
And they've made so many steps.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
I thought to myself, I have bought less stuff at
CBS and Walgreens because of this, And now it's been confirmed.
They said it's hurt their sales significantly more than the
thefts did originally.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Yeah, you're obviously not alone. That the good outweighs the
bad man. They need to sell more product.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
I feel like you though it would be somebody that waited.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
I do Wait.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Yeah, I thought you're gonna say Steels, No.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
Why do you you're hurry?

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Yeah, I'm just not in a hurry.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
You don't everywhere to be.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
No, I got nowhere, I got nothing to do.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Yeah, well, I'm too impatient. So I was glad to
see that. I'm glad to see that changes occurring. Said
in the Walgreens, they're gonna start unlocking pretty much everything here.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
I can't remember which of the brands of those oys
in recently, but it felt like half the store was
locked up.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
Do you go to New York If you're in New
York City. I don't know if any of you ever
had to go to a CBS or Walgreens in New York,
the whole store is locked up, the whole store, like
you can't get anything, and and it's just one or
two people just taking their key around and just unlocking everything. Yep.

Speaker 6 (07:22):
Actually that's what I was in Portland, Maine. It's the
bigger cities where we're just everything's locked down, but it's
a huge inconvenience.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
One of our we just stopped on our trip somewhere.
We went into one of those stores and it was like,
I think I went in to get some cold medicine
or advil, and everything was locked up, up and down
all the entire aisle.

Speaker 6 (07:36):
No more open, no more.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
Now they're they're back to three. So I guess everybody
will start stealing again. Who's up next? Shit? Eric, Eric?

Speaker 5 (07:43):
Go ahead, Eric.

Speaker 7 (07:46):
Hey, guys, So I know that you guys have been
saying that that Tyson's and sitting you got some kicking
down to the bar. I think a good thing to
send them, a good thing to send them a good
Kentucky park. I think would be a good nice hot brown,
because it seems like that's what they have as a
team right now, is a good hot brown.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Well, I appreciate the call. Mario turned the turn. TikTok
came around here for a second. Stop stop flirting with
Billy and focus. All right, I have a message to
my good friends at Tyson Foods in Arkansas. Thank you
very much, seriously, thank you, like I can't thank you enough.

(08:29):
You know, you sent me that chicken when you came
and you took John cal Perry. That was nice of you,
but that was way too generous. You've been more generous
to us. You saved us forty million dollars. You sent
me some chicken nuggets, but you saved us forty million dollars.
And you helped us re establish the joy of Kentucky basketball.

(08:50):
You helped the arena be filled. You help no, seriously,
you helped us kind of get back to Kentucky basketball
the way we want it. So Tyson, I owe you.
You have done me more than you could ever have
done for us. Thank you very much. And I don't
really have a care package for you. I just want
you to know my heartfelt thanks. I will buy as

(09:13):
much of your two dollars chicken as I can. Good
for you and you are my favorite corporation of twenty
twenty five.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
It makes me a little teary high.

Speaker 6 (09:23):
Yet I still have the nuggets they sent us in
my freezer. I see them every day. I'm waiting for
February first, and I have to find a way to
get an air fire in the rapperna because I want
to share them with my friends at the game. That's
been my Our rapid reaction is going to be me
cooking chicken nuggets after that game and passing them out.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
I mean, it couldn't have worked out better, right, Like there,
you know, I don't know, it's you Remember how much
I used to use the marriage analogy when we talked
about cal Remember, and I said that I use the
analogy of sometimes a relationship goes complacent and the the
new guy.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
Then they break up, and then the guy gets.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
In shape and he goes and he meets the new woman,
and he's like, well, that didn't happen. He didn't go
get in shape, he stayed the way he was. He's
now unhappy. We, on the other hand, found the actual
love of our life.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
Like the Hight.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
We went back to our high school girlfriend, who we
probably should have ended up with anyway, but life it
kind of took us away. You know, we fell for
the and now we're re establishing this connection and we're like,
remember when we went to the playground in tenth grade
and you have all of these memories and like, that's
how it turned out for us.

Speaker 6 (10:41):
Yeah, he's taken us back to where we first kissed
on the playground. That's where we took it.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
And we didn't get diarrhea.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
We didn't get the diarrhea, went with the chicken.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Yeah, So it's it's like he almost couldn't have worked
out better.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Total win win for Kentucky fans and all of us
for sure.

Speaker 6 (10:56):
Had a friend last night text me he said, John
Tyson drinks for free, and Lexington I thought, you know,
I don't think he needs the free drinks, but if
John Tyson wants to come have a good time Kentucky fans.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
Bobby Bones.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
I remember Bobby Bones calling me before it went public
and he said to me, I think we're gonna get
col and I laughed at him and I was like, no,
you're not.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
And then he ended up being correct. And Bobby Bones.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
Man like, play all that terrible country music that you
have on your show. Now you did this the perfect thing,
Like I'll even go to a Luke Bryan concert to
thank you all for the money.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
I mean not I won't like it, but to just thank.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
You all for for for the for the.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Money twenty million dollars, they say forty million dollars.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
I will confess while we're doing this, I stood up
way too late looking at memes and reactions last night.
The crazy Gallon always makes the videos. Yes, is now
a UK fan? Did you see that?

Speaker 5 (11:54):
No?

Speaker 4 (11:55):
He switched. And let me say this to all of you.
There's a guy named John Okay. He hosts a radio
show in Arkansas. Nice guy. He's been We've been friendly
for five years. I've been on his show a lot.
He does. He's not exactly like us, but he does
a show. He does a postgame show. He asked me
a few weeks ago. He was like, when Kentucky plays Arkansas,

(12:18):
I'm coming down there Thursday and I'm gonna be there
two days. I need a place to do my show.
Can I do it at your bar? And I was like, yeah,
he does. He shows at like two o'clock. I was like,
it won't be that crowded. There might not be very
many people here. You're more than welcome to have the
bar when he comes. We need to all come and
bring him gifts, right because he was one of the

(12:39):
biggest advocates of cal coming. He has that video you've
seen on the internet where he's interviewing students and they're
all like, yeah, eat it. We I think should not
only be good host, we should come give him gifts
of praise on that Thursday and Friday. Ryan for pushing
that so.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Much, I guarantee you I'm gonna get something to bring
it in there for Inflo. We need to write a
thank you card for all those people that were pushing
for Catil.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
John Nabors, I think we should all give little Peace
on that Thursday and Friday when.

Speaker 6 (13:07):
He's doing him about John good guy. I'm looking forward
to hosting him. He's a big karaoke fan, so maybe
Kentucky fans could take him out, carry take him out,
carry out, show him a good time. Maybe he'll be
a Kentucky fan.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
I think they are going to be soon. Who's next?

Speaker 5 (13:19):
Sugar Bear? Sugar Bear, how are you, Mabe?

Speaker 8 (13:24):
I'm good. This is my first time. I wasn't going
to talk about basketball. I wanted to tell you about
my husband. Okay, you was talking about You was talking
about a guy last week that was forty years old
that was doing stuff that you couldn't believe. Okay, my husband,

(13:45):
My husband is sixty.

Speaker 9 (13:46):
Five years old.

Speaker 8 (13:48):
He's blind and he lifts waits three days a week.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Wow, lifts waights three days a week. How much can
he binge?

Speaker 9 (13:58):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (13:58):
Ten years ago he expooring it seven pounds?

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Whoa, whoa, Wow, he's pretty three twelve two weeks ago,
three twelve. Well, that's certainly more than I can. Well,
what's your husband's name, Donny?

Speaker 5 (14:15):
Donnie?

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Where it does?

Speaker 5 (14:16):
Where do you and Donnie live?

Speaker 8 (14:20):
Lizabethtown, Kentucky?

Speaker 4 (14:22):
Elizabethtown. Well, listen, you and Donnie keep staying in shape.
That's very inspiring, and thank you very much for calling me.

Speaker 8 (14:31):
He's five to seven and he weighs three twelve too.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Whoa whoa?

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Okay, well five seven, three twelve benching three hundred All right, well, listen,
thank you very much. You're welcome.

Speaker 8 (14:45):
Have a breath day.

Speaker 5 (14:46):
Donnie out there getting it done in the town, right.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
If you weighs three hundred and twelve, is that just
all muscle? If he bitches that much, well you don't
worry about it.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
It's not your business. He's just out there benching. He's
just out there mentioning. Yeah, wait, don't don't mess with him.
He's doing his thing. If I'm sixty five years old,
blind and I'm benching three hundred pounds, that's a guy
that needs a salute.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
Heaby heck, yeah, sounds like a legend. Got some Bill
Braski or Chuck Norrison.

Speaker 4 (15:11):
That's exactly right.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Eight.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
I'm nine eight twenty two eighty seven. We'll take a break,
be right back here at Chaos Bars, Kentucky sports radio
worker back in his Kentucky sports radio Yeah. I don't
know if I could go to this concert chainon, if
I had to listen to this the whole time, I'm
not sure. I'm not sure I have it in me.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
I don't know it's worth it.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
I think it would be worth the trade we got.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
You know, it's Wednesday. Here, Friday night. I'm speaking to
the Kentucky Young Farmers Association, and I mean, if there's
one thing I know a lot about, it's farming. So
I'm really working on. I feel like I'm gonna be
able to give them some really a really good speech.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
You got the half hope you hit your cowboy hat.

Speaker 9 (15:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (15:50):
Yeah, you're gonna have the street cred the moment you
walk in you think that hat will give me the
street crad.

Speaker 10 (15:55):
Have you figured out the shoes yet? See I can
I have the shoes. Okay, good, I have the shoes.
I bought boots. I've got the boots, I've got the jeans.
The question is the shirt. I don't know what flexible
with the shirt. I don't know what the shirt's gonna be,
but I got everything else.

Speaker 6 (16:09):
As long as the hat and shoes or cowboys got that,
got shoes, got the jeans.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
It's really the shirt that we're looking at.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
I thought you had a clubbing shirt that might go
with your cowboys don't.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
Wear clubbing shirts. Your members farm they don't wear clubbing shirts.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
This is the Young Farmers Association, not the DJs of
Miami Association.

Speaker 6 (16:29):
I'm worried my cowboy had around Buffalo Trace later today.
I'm really looking forward to it, but I don't have
the shoes yet.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
Starbucks, by the way.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
I keep reading all these facts, has a new rule
they've just put into place. You now no longer will
be able to go to Starbucks unless you buy something.
The days of just coming in and being able to
sit and use their WiFi. You will not be able
to go to Starbucks and go in unless you buy something.
I think it has to be at least five dollars
in order to sit in there. What do you think

(17:01):
of that rule? Drew?

Speaker 6 (17:02):
For one, I didn't know if Starbucks had anything cheaper
than five dollars. I honestly, I mean, I've gone and
worked in Starbucks. I bought stuff because I wanted a coffee.
I didn't know people were already going in there and
not buying things.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
There's a guy at this Starbucks on campus. I don't
know if anybody goes to that Starbucks on Chevy Chase,
right in the Chevy Chase shopping center, but there's a guy.
And if you go there, you know who I'm talking about.
He's there all the time, day or night, listening to
his headphones, reading a book, and he's like taking notes

(17:34):
and he's dancing. I'm not kidding you. He sits there,
he listens to music, he dances, and he writes, and
he writes.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
I've looked.

Speaker 4 (17:44):
It looks like he writes in what if secretaries used
to write shorthand It looks like he's writing in shorthand
because it's just gibberish, and he does it all times
of day. And I've been there, probably seeing him there
twenty five times, never seen him have any thing from
Starbucks in his hand, And I've often wondered, how does
Starbucks just let this guy just be in here for

(18:07):
hours and hours on time. I guess the answer, Ryan
is They're not gonna do that anymore.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
I can see why they're making this move. You know,
you can't just come in and use that place as
your office and not patronize them and buy some drinks
or food or something. We would want somebody to come
in here and sit there all day and not buy
anything and take up a call.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
We've had that happen. We've had that happen. Or somebody
buy one soda and then uh water, had somebody to
just bought a water. So I get it. I mean,
I actually think their rule is completely understandable.

Speaker 6 (18:34):
Yeah, and in some places maybe not lexing, but even
bigger cities, people run in and just use the bathroom.
I think that's okay.

Speaker 5 (18:39):
Now you have a code.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Yeah, let's talk about the rest of the sec for
a second. Last night, Alabama loses it home to Old
Miss by ten.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
Missouri beats Florida on the road.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
So Florida and Alabama to the best teams in the
conference lose at home to Old Miss and Missouri. Say
more about Florida and Alabama, Drew or say more about
Missouri and Old Miss.

Speaker 6 (19:02):
I kind of think Missouri and Old Miss, Missouri especially,
I didn't think they were gonna be very good. But
were they three and one now? Beat Kansas earlier this year? Yeah,
I mentioned earlier. I think they're like up to number
thirty and Ken Palm, So I think, uh, Missouri especially,
it says more about those teams and the big statement
last night. I'm looking at it on TV right now.
Auburn without Broom still looks very Bruce. I think Bruce

(19:25):
is gonna get them one this year. Auburn's the best
team in the country.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
Like, Auburn's got a legitimate chance to win the national
championship now that Broom is coming back. Uh, they I
think to me, they're probably the best team in the country, Uh,
above everybody else is you know, we have to go
to Ole Miss and Missouri. Those were two games that
I thought, you know what, you could steal either one
of those. Do they become harder now that they're both
road games?

Speaker 2 (19:48):
I think, like Drew said, I think we're seeing that
Missouri is like maybe like Georgia, a lot better than
any of us thought going into the season. We talked
about all the other SEC team didn't talk about Georgia
or Missouri at all. Ole miss You know, they beat
Alabama at Alabama by ten and they that game was
on the same time after our game. They dominated. Ye,
Missouri was up by Florida by like eighteen points. I
think it one.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
The first half.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
Missouri was annihilating Florida. Florida CU loss ended up losing
by one, but I mean they were annihilating I'll note
about Missouri.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
We finished the season at Missouri.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
Yeah, so like we are, our last game of the
year is at Missouri. That will be a crazy atmosphere
on the final game of the season.

Speaker 6 (20:26):
With them being good, that was gonna be Bring my point,
I always think about teams that aren't doing well you
get to those last games, they're they're kind of ready
for it to be over with kind of wanted that
to be the case of Missouri. It's not gonna be
they're fourteen to three. That's their senior day. You're gonna
get a good environment at the end of the year
instead of a team that's ready to call quits.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
Totally agree.

Speaker 5 (20:43):
Who's up next, Kevin, Kevin, go ahead.

Speaker 9 (20:45):
Kevin, good morning. Got a couple of things I'd like
to throw your way. Okay, first one is from the
Mississippi to the Appalachians we are big Blue nation. What
do you think about that for us as slogan since
we don't have one.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
From the Mississippi to the Appalachians, we are big nations?

Speaker 5 (21:08):
Yeah, it's okay.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
When you say Mississippi, I don't think about the river
so like, but I get it. I think you mostly just.

Speaker 5 (21:17):
Mississippi from Lion County to Harlem.

Speaker 9 (21:20):
From the we're going from the from the Mississippi. I
mean I got the Appas, all right?

Speaker 5 (21:26):
What else.

Speaker 9 (21:29):
Count mayould be one in Dune in Arkansas?

Speaker 5 (21:31):
That's a great question.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
Do you think I appreciate the call any chance calls
a one in Dune at Arkansas?

Speaker 2 (21:39):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (21:39):
Yes, I mean I didn't think he's gonna be there
for three years. So if this continues the way it is,
I can see him not want to coming back. What
do you think to do this his He's got to
care about his legacy and you don't want to end
the way. It looks like he's got a really.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
Good recruiting class next year, like like he's got really
good players. I mean, to me, I would think he's
gonna have a pride of I can't go out like this.
I gotta have like one more, one more runs recruiting class.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Huh, that's what I was gonna say. I think he
you know, he doesn't want his legacy to be tarnished
by this horrible season. Looks like they're in distined for it, and.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
In center field with the Mets like they're in, they're
in that sort of place.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
I feel like he'll want to do one more.

Speaker 6 (22:22):
When you say he wants to do more, Yeah, but
what if the next recruiting class fails again? Then it
just that's just what you are.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
You're right. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Without Boogie Flan last night, they probably got beat by twenty.
I mean he single handley kept them in the game
there in the second half.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Dude, Boogie. If they didn't have Boogie Flann, they would
be atrocious. Yeah, I mean they would. They're bad now,
but they would be absolutely atrocious.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
He got hot late that could have been double digits
lsu yeah, eight, and then he scored you know, several
buckets in a row to pull them close.

Speaker 5 (22:53):
To the How long?

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Just if you were to guess the amount of years
Mark Pope is the coach here? What would you guess
if I made you put a guest today thirteen thirteen
or fourteen? Okay?

Speaker 5 (23:04):
Actually I like that?

Speaker 4 (23:05):
Yes, Actually, what are you about? You?

Speaker 6 (23:07):
I might even go, I mean, where's he gonna go?

Speaker 4 (23:10):
You know?

Speaker 5 (23:11):
It's a good I mean, this job does wear on you.

Speaker 6 (23:14):
Although his excitement's new right now, it'll get tiring. But
I mean the guy seems to really love everything he's doing.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
The good thing about him is this is the first
coach we've had since Joe B. Hall that I don't
think we have to worry about going anywhere. The rumors
of he may go here, he may go there, that's
not gonna happen with this guy. And that's exciting because
we've dealt out that. My whole lifetime will take a break.
Be right back to KSR.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
TJ.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
He'll make them pay.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio eight F I'm nine two
eight twenty two eighty seven. Are you rying upset like
a lot of these people in Lexington Louisville that they
are keeps not being school?

Speaker 2 (23:58):
You know, our kids in Lexon have not been to
school since December twentieth. As a dad who has not
only Josiah but just size best friends staying at my
house every day, every night, get them out, get them
back to school for crying out?

Speaker 4 (24:11):
What are you okay? So I'm just playing Devil's advocate.
There are still streets in Lexington and Louisville that you
cannot drive on. I mean if you are a bus.
I mean you can drive on them if you have
a car. But like, there are still streets that are
completely ice in Louisville. My street in Louisville is complete ice.
A bus could not go down that street. Now a
car can, but a bus can't. And so since they

(24:34):
usually make these decisions based on buses, and remember the
school district doesn't control the roads getting cleaned, that's a
different they're different things. What would you do if you
were them? I mean, like because if they have school
and a bus crashes due to the ice, people are
not gonna be happy about it. So like, what do

(24:54):
you do?

Speaker 2 (24:55):
You know, I said, get them back to school? But
my street is like an ice rink. You you just
slide through the stop sign, you slide out into the street.
I mean, I get it because it is like an
ice rink where I live right now.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
What was like, is there a way to do it
to where you go? Okay, look, you folks may have
to walk like like on my street. You can't walk
down my street, but you could walk to a block
and you'd be fine. Do you just tell the kids
maybe you're gonna have to walk a block away from
your house for a day or something.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
I think you could have maybe looked at that. But
the temperature this morning was like what nine degrees. I
don't think they want, you know, the elementary school kids
out in that temperature.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
But I mean it's been a long time.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
Now it is supposed to warm up tomorrow, so maybe
that changes it. But like it's gonna be cold, supposed
to be freezing this weekend and next week.

Speaker 5 (25:40):
Like I mean, at some point they do have to
go back to school, don't they?

Speaker 2 (25:43):
Yeah, they've got you know, NTI going on so jo side.
His friend woke up at one o'clock yesterday afternoon.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
I said, why do you always telling your kids for
not doing the like you always telling your kid for
skipping the things they're supposed to do.

Speaker 6 (25:56):
He got up at one am and did his homework
one for one p.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
So I asked him, I said, do you guys least
log in so you can check your attendance? He goes, yeah,
we log in. That's all all we got to do.
Miss this last semester of their senior year. I don't
think there's a whole lot going on for him right now.

Speaker 4 (26:10):
I love how you just throw your kid under the
bus left and right, like, oh, my kids got up
at one pm.

Speaker 6 (26:17):
There could be future employers listening to the show right now.

Speaker 4 (26:19):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
He has an interview today. I shouldn't have said that, Oh.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
He has an interview today, wild as I feel like
I feel like he'll probably be able to get that
since you read the endorsements for that place. If he doesn't,
that's really on him. I do want to note I've
been asked a lot about about we're on in London, Kentucky,
or we were on in London Kentucky. You may remember that.

(26:44):
Like I made some criticisms of that situation in London
with the guy getting shot and the police and the
weed eater. Magically, we're not on in London anymore. After
being on in London for like nine years. Yeah, on
the same station. They just pulled the plug on the
show Monday. Now I'm not saying I'm just saying, it's

(27:09):
interesting to me that after nine years of being on there,
they just pull it. And we asked and they said, well,
we're focusing on the music. Well, it's always been a
music station, so that's interesting to me. Now we're gonna
try to find there's some bigger stations in London. We're
gonna try to get movie moved to one of them,
and hopefully that'll happen.

Speaker 5 (27:28):
But it's interesting to me, Drew.

Speaker 4 (27:30):
You know, one of the things that people are alleging
in London is the government there has its hands in
everything and it gets involved in everything. And then all
of a sudden, after nine years of being on there,
we talk about London one week and we talk about
how maybe they shouldn't have broken into a guy's home
for a weed eater and shot a stranger that then
the next week we're not on the air there.

Speaker 5 (27:51):
Huh.

Speaker 6 (27:52):
It's most funny. One already missed our London listeners and
I hope we get back in their scene.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
Me two, we've been there. We do shows in London
at Don Franklin all the time. Yeah, they're focused on
the music that.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Radio station brought us. We didn't want a Weavers hot dogs,
we did it low sporting Goods.

Speaker 5 (28:06):
We've been on there for a long time.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
There was a time that that was the only way
we were on in Southeast Kentucky. Now now again our
people are working and we'll probably find a different home
in London.

Speaker 5 (28:18):
But that seems crazy to me that you're.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
On all this time, and then they coincidentally switched the
music right after the weed eater story.

Speaker 6 (28:27):
I kind of wanted a better reason than focusing on
the music.

Speaker 4 (28:30):
And they play classic country like the music ain't going anywhere.

Speaker 6 (28:34):
I worked for right hard everybody way.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
The good thing about classic country there's never any new hits.

Speaker 6 (28:38):
Yeah, everyone should listening to music on the radio. I
like iHeart, but you know, just to turn to music
when there's so much music around. I feel like they
need to stop the talk radio going on somewhere. I'm
not saying I'm just saying, who's up next?

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Corey?

Speaker 5 (28:50):
Corey? Go ahead, Corey.

Speaker 11 (28:54):
Hey, what's up?

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Guys?

Speaker 12 (28:55):
First round calling?

Speaker 4 (28:56):
Who what's up?

Speaker 12 (29:00):
Of a couple of things.

Speaker 11 (29:01):
Uh. The first thing is a couple of critiques.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (29:03):
First off, great win and I think, uh we found
the defense that we really need. We didn't. We didn't
win a game just by out scorning the other team,
so that was awesome. Yes, batiques are almanor whenever he's
uh he's in transition and he got his shot blocked,
or mitsal leaup dunk that ball you're seving foot called dude,

(29:26):
and the other.

Speaker 5 (29:27):
How about Mari about yeah.

Speaker 11 (29:31):
Oh yeah, yeah, yes, sorry sorry, But whenever Kobe or
sorry Karta was on defense and instead of diving for
the ball, he just stop you.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
I feel like you get all the players confused. Kirk
is hurt, so you're.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
Talking about so yeah, so you got both players.

Speaker 8 (29:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (29:57):
Sorry, I'm I'm over here going over worked up right now.
But so I got a lot of numbers.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
No, those are the two anyway, those are my two
two critiques go ahead.

Speaker 11 (30:08):
Sorry, the last thing was the care package. I have
the perfect idea. How about Round one and two tickets
to the NCAA tournament.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
Oh, I actually like that. That's pretty good. Round one.
I appreciate the call. Round one and two tickets in Lexington.
Since Arkansas is not going to go, we send them
the tickets so they have a chance to watch the
watch the tournament. I like that. By the way, just
if they made the tournament. How funny would be if
Arkansas got put here in LEXI you know that's what
would happen that and that would actually be really funny.

(30:40):
Amari Williams best game of the year for Kentucky last night.
I only played twenty three minutes, but rebounded well. I
thought he could blocked shots, thought he was pretty patient,
missed that layup. But besides that, I thought it was
maybe the best game I've seen Amari play.

Speaker 5 (30:55):
Pope said he was the key to the game.

Speaker 6 (30:56):
He was made some good passes like he's done in
many games. He also just seems to be a lot
more engaged and into it. I don't know if it's
just his personality trades, but other than the here, you know,
he disappeared a little bit slouch a little bit, seemed
like he'd be frustrated that something happened a few minutes before.
But he is full energy and full emotion now. I
know he gave his UH, he gave the pregame speech
before Mississippi State. Maybe this is UH. He's broken out

(31:18):
of his shell and this is gonna continue.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
I didn't like Kobe Bray and not getting on the floor.
I know it's one play, but dude, you can't bend
from the knees and the other guy dives on the floor.
You gotta get on the floor like you sit there
and reach and another guy's on the floor.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
He's lower than you. He's gonna get the ball every time.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
And that led to a three, right, didn't They and
him kick it out and hit a three on that?

Speaker 4 (31:37):
But I will say they called time out after that.
And I thought that after that breake was when Kentucky
took it up to another notch. It was almost like
I'm sure Pope lit into him for not getting on
the floor there, and that may have been why.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
You know, he's one of two of ten he's last
two games shooting the threes. I really thought getting back
to Rup he'd have a big shooting night last night.
It's still there an him.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
But yeah, but they not been in the last couple
of minute last two games.

Speaker 6 (32:03):
This is that one the first time this team hadn't
gone on the floor for a loose ball too. I
remember they were doing it in one of the big
games in the first minutes. Say they need to learn
to you know, when it's out there there's a fifty
to fifty ball, you need to all your fight when
the other guy is going for.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
Whole man wins when it comes to ball. If he
has his whole body weight down there and you have
your arms, he's gonna get the ball. So that's why
they tell you to dive on the ground, is you're
gonna you're never gonna get the ball if he's If
he's down there and you're trying to pick it up.

Speaker 6 (32:29):
His legs were almost fully extended standing up, and he's
been over like slapping him with both hands while the
other guys on the ground ripping it away from him.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
Hey, excitement is building for Week twenty three of the
Commonwealth Causes Clean Queen of Heart's fifty to fifty raffle.

two dollars raffle ticket before six pm at Commonwealth causes

(32:56):
Pretty easy, right, I do it. I've been playing the
Queen of Heart? Are you ever winning?

Speaker 2 (33:01):
No? I haven't won yet. It's I keep playing.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
That's what we want. That's how you get the nil.
Commonwealth causes dot org. Queen of Hearts game two dollars.
Five thousand dollars will be up for grabs at some
point and the money goes Remember, proceeds go to the
Kentucky in Ile.

Speaker 5 (33:18):
We'll take a break.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
Come back final segment here at ks Bars, Kentucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (33:24):
Working back Tucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (33:26):
Louisville, by the way, is back in school, so Lexington
is the only one not in school. That surprised me
because Louisville had a ton of eyes. So if Louill's
back in school and Lexington's not, maybe, you know, maybe
they got to do something there, right, I mean, now
they gonna be off Toogain tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
I don't know, you know, even Scott County's been in
school all this week, and they've got stamping ground in Stadyville.
Some rurals cities involved with that, but they've been going
to school this week.

Speaker 5 (33:49):
I didn't rise Louisville was back in school.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
So if they're making it work in Louisville, because I
was there earlier this week with all that ice, I
feel like they can find a way to make it
work here right now.

Speaker 6 (33:58):
I live right by Douglas. Not great, but at least
around that high school. It's not too bad that. Obviously
that's not the whole city, but I can confirm Douglas's
pretty easy to get to.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
Yeah, if I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven?
Three SEC games tonight?

Speaker 5 (34:12):
Uh do we do? We have a Draft Kings one here?

Speaker 4 (34:14):
We do? So Draft Kings. This will be our pick
of the day. Uh, Draft Kings. We have three SEC games? Tennessee.
Uh plays Georgia. Who you got? Where is it is
in Tennessee?

Speaker 2 (34:27):
I like Tennessee, but obviously we're seeing Georgia is a
much better that I think anybody thought going into the SECC.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
Tennessee is eleven and a half point favorite. Would you
take Georgia to cover eleven and a half in Knoxville.

Speaker 6 (34:39):
If Tennessee hadn't just gotten destroyed by Florida, I think
Georgia might have a chance. But what is that Food
City Arena? It is gonna be Rock City Arena? South Carolina?

Speaker 4 (34:51):
Vandy? Your Vandy's a nine and a half point favorite, Shannon,
Are they gonna take out the game?

Speaker 5 (34:56):
Car h South Carolina?

Speaker 3 (34:57):
I would say, right there next to Arkansas, the two
worst teams in the conference, probably even worse than LSU.
So I would hope that Vandy would win tonight.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
All right, you're taking Vanda and this is the game
we talked about how for Arkansas that might have been
a season ender. I don't think this is a season
ender for these teams. But what if I told you
Texas and Oklahoma are both oh and three in the conference,
and one of them tonight's gonna go oh and four
because they play each other, that's a huge rivalry, And
like you know, staying alive and the conferences up for grabs,

(35:28):
who you got?

Speaker 6 (35:29):
I think I'm gonna take Texas because their first games
were brutal. They've already played number one, number two, and
number thirteen, so it's hard to get a good read
on them. I think maybe they'll find a win tonight.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
I think going in Texas was kind of flirting with that,
getting in your second tier there for a little bit
of the season. To be owing three, it is a
little surprising, but I still think they're a better team
than Oklahoma.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
Yeah, the their schedule has been tough, but they're at Oklahoma.

Speaker 5 (35:51):
I'll take Texas, but you know, if.

Speaker 4 (35:52):
You're Oklahoma, you had no losses in the non conference
and then you start to conference oh and four, that
would be probably his big a symbol of how good
the SEC is over anything anything else.

Speaker 6 (36:03):
They have big wins against Arizona, beat UH, beat Louisville. Yeah,
they got Michigan. They beat Michigan.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
Yeah, they got one of the UH, one of the
wins that they congratulate Pat Kelsey. He surpassed Kenny Payne
on the all time wins list at University of Louisville.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
Did he really in eighteen games he did more than
Kenny did in two entire seasons?

Speaker 5 (36:23):
Is that right?

Speaker 4 (36:24):
I didn't realize that Kelsey has already passed Kenny Payne.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
And wins Yep, yep, wow, yep.

Speaker 6 (36:31):
Did they like make a thing for that is there
like a.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
Yeah, yeah, you know we got cut off earlier when
I was talking about Cal staff. I just want you
to think about Cal's staff for a minute. Cal's staff
right now is Kenny Payne, Chen Coleman, Bruiser Flint, and Brad.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
Tyler. You list sits there with him.

Speaker 4 (36:57):
He's not an assistant coach, though he's paid assistance. Are
those do? Wow? Can you believe that?

Speaker 6 (37:06):
I mean, the good assistance went to other places that
are doing very well, Orlando and t when Illinois were rocking.
I haven't kept up with Welsh, but he got the
heck out of here after last season. I mean it's I.

Speaker 4 (37:16):
Will say Brad has an exquisite selection of turtlenecks at
each of these games. I mean he is single handedly
trying to bring the turtleneck back. He looks like every
game is a different Miami Club night DJ.

Speaker 5 (37:34):
He does not look like a basketball couch. No, he
looks like he is he is.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
At you know, the light factory in Miami, about to
throw some throw it down on the ones and.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
Twos, and they just sit there. They don't like they
don't do any coaching at all. We see like even
last year.

Speaker 5 (37:49):
He still yells at Chin. Oh how I can't.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Believe he kept chinning aafter that first year, the way
that he's killing him.

Speaker 4 (37:56):
Screams at Chin during the games, screams at him.

Speaker 6 (38:00):
I looked over there and Brad was on the bench,
and I know Cal's got Brad there because he's trying
to get him a good start on his career. I
get it. If I had a son in that spot,
i'd probably do the same thing. But if I'm Brad
and I'm watching my dad his legacy just tank, I'd
be like, Dad, maybe I shouldn't be sitting here. I
don't know that I'm qualified to help you. Could you
maybe bring in some actual help and take care of
yourself and then bring me in later.

Speaker 4 (38:21):
Oh wait, man, he breaking news, Shannon. The Federal Drug
Administration is banning the use of red number three and
food and beverages. That's the thing that's in.

Speaker 5 (38:33):
Like skittles, uh huh and nerds and a lot of
that stuff.

Speaker 4 (38:37):
Uh. You know, there's that was one of those that,
like it seems like it was probably bad for a
while and everybody just kind of looked the other way.
And now so I don't know, we're not gonna have
red Skittles anymore.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
They just every flavor. But read that. You know, they've
been talked about doing this for years and years and years,
but I.

Speaker 5 (38:55):
Think it actually has a link to like cancer and
all that.

Speaker 4 (38:58):
So I mean, too fine, you just can't have red Die.
Red Die three is the one four good. It's just
something about that number three. We all like a lot
of the stuff it's in. We're gonna miss it.

Speaker 6 (39:09):
But if you read the stories and see what it's
actually doing to people, it's probably best that we don't
eat the Uh.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
I don't want to think about it, because chances are
I've ingested quite a bit of red Die three in
my life. If you look at my diet, chances are
a lot of it is gone glowing right here. Yes,
who's next, Adam, Adam, go ahead, Adam.

Speaker 12 (39:31):
Hey, guys, had a gift idea for your Arkansas friends.
I had this book. It's like a motivational book on
how to overcome adversity. It's called Bounce Back. Uh So
I would I would be happy to.

Speaker 4 (39:42):
Give you all that nice I like it. That's Guy's
when my Kentucky branded car. That's that's a good one.

Speaker 12 (39:49):
How how awesome is it that you know, uh, In
the past couple of years, it's we actually have the
opposing coaches and players telling us that they knew exactly
what we were gonna run. It was easy to guard.
And now we have Buzz Peterson saying, or Buzz Williams
saying that, you know, he gets excited watching Mark Pope's offense.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
I thought Buzz Williams comments last night, I appreciate the call.
I thought Buzz Williams comments last night were maybe one
of the best praises for Mark Pope that we've seen.
He Buzz Williams said, I literally got excited studying Mark
Pope's offense because of how well it's run. And I

(40:30):
think he was being completely genuine. He was basically saying, look,
you look at these players and he gets the best
out of every one of them. And he said, you
know they run He's he said, I cannot believe how
efficiently they run their offense. And I mean, Buzzes can
be a little bit of a jerk, but I also
don't think he's like a bs er. And when I

(40:52):
heard that, I thought, Drew Man, what a great compliment
from a coach.

Speaker 6 (40:55):
You just beat it was Buzz had me in a pretzel.
Last night. I went outside and did our and called
him soft, and he was talking to Jackson, and I
don't like Buzz anymore. I come inside and buzzes at
the podium saying this team could win the national championship.
I love watching Mark Pope's film this and that, and
I'm thinking, well, dang it, now I think I like
Buzz again. So it was a wild Buzz Williams ride.
But that was one of the better opposing coaches press

(41:17):
conferences I can remember it.

Speaker 5 (41:18):
But Buzz was soft about the Jackson thing.

Speaker 4 (41:20):
But Buzz is for defense, like Buzz's defense is as
well done as Pope's offense.

Speaker 5 (41:29):
So for a man who's.

Speaker 4 (41:30):
Known for being an intellectual defensive guy to say that
about our coach for his offense, I think is a
very It's a huge.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
Compliment, and I would recommen everybody look at that, because
you if you watch it, you can tell he's being
very sincere. He is again, like you just said, they
just got their butt whipped, you just lost a game.
You're still being very, very complimentary of that.

Speaker 4 (41:50):
But the two best defensive coaches in the country are
Kelvin Samson and Buzz Williams. And when those dudes sit
there and say you run an offense, I enjoy watching.
Go listen to that and say, that's actually a huge compliment.
