Welcome to or two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by
Stockton Mortgage. Now Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Here's the thing about talking about your medical stuff on
there is we have a lot of people, I think
this is a post COVID phenomenon, who fancy themselves medical experts.
A lot of doctors after a lot of doctors, like
I don't even know why do we even have med
schools now, Shita.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Just go to the comment section.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
You'll find everybody is everybody's a doctor and they're like
so something that Like I got people who write and go, Matt,
there's no way you can be on the air on Thursday,
trust me, And then the other person goes, Ryan's nuts.
You'll have a tough Wednesday night, but by Thursday morning
you'll be ready. So I don't which one of those
am I supposed to believe.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
They'll They'll be a couple instances. Thursday morning won't be
like the bad one, but you'll have some instances. Thursday
morning could still running it. Why should I believe you?
I've done it twice. Well, so with these people, that
person maybe affected them different. I'm telling you how it
affected me.

Speaker 6 (01:57):
Okay, yeah, so it could affect me either way.

Speaker 7 (02:01):
Yeah right, yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:02):
My will take away on this is, you know we
would always pop in on the shows that beat us.
Do you think Ice and Rothman have popped over to
see what we're talking about?

Speaker 6 (02:10):
And this name one? Right?

Speaker 4 (02:12):
So I like, yeah, we used to pop in on
Ice and WROTHMN and uh those shows.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Whoever's number four?

Speaker 6 (02:19):
This one?

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Yeah, we could do number four, although that's the guy
actually work the guy that came and forth I work
with sometimes on the Oh you do so? Yeah, it's
Aaron what's his name gold Hammer? Yeah, I've done shows
with him on ESPN.

Speaker 6 (02:33):
He cut he's he was fourth.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
Well we kind of found out. Oh, Buck Rising is
from Henderson, Kentucky, went to Evansville Memorial High School.

Speaker 6 (02:40):
That's crazy.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Well, just go show Small World eight five nine two
eight oh twenty two eighty seven. The text Machine is
seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. Uh, Shannon,
did I hear someone tell me that you're going to
a super secret Super Bowl party?

Speaker 6 (02:56):
Is that right? Sort of?

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yeah? I mean it's like it's a pub, there's a
public establishment.

Speaker 6 (03:02):
But what does that mean. It's it's super secret.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
It's just for like regulars only, so it's not open
to the public. It's just open for people who are
regular patrons of this place. But regular patrons of what
of the bar slash restaurant?

Speaker 7 (03:18):
That's pretty secreted secretive to me.

Speaker 6 (03:20):
So, but I don't understand.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
So it's it's a barah, it's a place that you know,
like you've been there. You've been there yourself.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
I've been to this.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
It's in Lovell Okay.

Speaker 6 (03:29):
And so it's a bar that has like people who
go regularly.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Yeah, and they cook and they do like a whole
it's like free food and they don't want like everybody
just coming off the streets and getting free food.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
So oh, it's free food.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (03:41):
So what bar just decides to close down and make
a free party?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Yes? Yeah, but if I say that on the air,
then everybody's going to be there and I can't I
can't see I can tell you off the.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
Air, Okay, all right, so tell me what what you
can tell me off the air? Yes, Well, I just
thought it was he had another like you, you and
Ryan and have had this whole like crazy, you know,
crazy crazy party lifestyle.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
If we don't know about it, it's.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Not as good easy, Okay.

Speaker 8 (04:09):
I don't really get jealous, But all these little parties
they keep going to and they're bragging about it.

Speaker 7 (04:13):
Later.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Are you getting Are you getting excited about the Super.

Speaker 7 (04:17):
Bowl at all? A little bit?

Speaker 5 (04:19):
I think I want to pick the Eagles, though I think, uh,
you know, they're they're mad. They've been there what a
couple of years ago and got beat by the Chiefs.
Chiefs is an old hat for them. But I think
I may be riding with the Eagles. About you, I'm.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
Not betting against Patrick Mahomes, Like, how many times do
we have to do this? You cannot bet against Patrick Mahlmes.
Patrick Mahomes wins, so like if he if he loses
this time, then in the future I'll consider betting against him.
But I am not betting not against Patrick Mahomes drew
until he loses a game and and and I don't
believe he will lose this one either.

Speaker 8 (04:50):
I'm probably I haven't made my commitment yet. I'm gonna
get through Tonight's old miss game and then Tomorrow's when
I'm really gonna lock in with all my props. I
will have a billion props and all that, but I haven't.
I haven't picked my lane yet. If I'm gonna be
pro Eagles or Chiefs, probably Chiefs. So I'm with you
if you bet against the Chiefs and lose, then you
just gotta look at the mirror, call yourself an idiot.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Yeah exactly, because like they'll lose one day, maybe it'll
be Sunday. But are you gonna keep banging your head
against the table and saying they're gonna lose or are
you gonna keep going with.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
Him and then go all right, well, one day I'll lose,
but I will have won. Shannon. The fifteen times before that,
I kept rolling with.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah, I'm not gonna pick against the Chiefs, you know,
against the Eagles. I would be pro Russia against the
Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 6 (05:32):
What you really Yeah? Yeah, quarterback putin versus the Eagles.
You're taking the comrade. That's okay?

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yeah? Anybody interested?

Speaker 6 (05:40):
Yeah, I just you know, mahomes mahomes dad.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
And then you throw in all the other stuff that
that that goes on with Kansas City.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
Uh yeah, y'all. With the ref.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
I have to tell you, the ref thing, to me
is the most played out thing I've ever seen. I
mean it like the way people and I don't even
I'm not even really a Chiefs fan, but the way
people will dissect every call and then when that when
their call goes against them.

Speaker 6 (06:10):
They're like, finally, I just think it's ridiculous. I just
said it's you to do that.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
That that game was tied, one team went down the
field and scored. One team did right, and you know,
and then people want to look for an excuse.

Speaker 8 (06:27):
For one bet. I can guarantee you I'm gonna make
because I'm gonna parlay DeAndre Hopkins and AJ Brown touchdowns
because those are receivers the Titans let walk and now they're.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
Both of the super Bowl.

Speaker 8 (06:36):
So you can go ahead bank on me betting on those.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
We will have like a bunch of Super Bowl special Yeah,
we will put out you can get well, you can
come watch the game here, or you can take the
stuff home with you. We will always give you know,
wing will give them. We sell wings for people to
take for their parties as well. Do you like watching
the Super Bowl at a party?

Speaker 7 (06:56):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (06:57):
You do?

Speaker 7 (06:57):
I do? Yeah, I love.

Speaker 6 (06:58):
Why do you like that?

Speaker 7 (06:59):
I don't know, just kind of a community thing. I
like it.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
I like party going to this year. Well, I think
yoga girl and I are gonna be going to a party.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
With one of those.

Speaker 8 (07:08):
Isn't it what you like a bookshelf?

Speaker 6 (07:10):
What kind of party.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
Her brother invited us to a party that we talked
about last night. I think that's where we're gonna go.

Speaker 7 (07:16):
Yeah, is in one of these forty toy no no,
no no.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
The way he said that, though Shannon made it seem
like it was a different kind of the way, he
was like, well, yoga girl and I are going to.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
A party, Well, good for you.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
I don't I don't like going to watch because I
want to watch the game, and everybody's like, you have
to like play numbers, and that's what's fun.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
Squares.

Speaker 8 (07:36):
Yeah, got some good squares.

Speaker 6 (07:37):
I'm so much more social than I am.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Leonard Hamilton UH is going to retire at the end
of the year. I wanted to bring that up because
he needs to write. I mean, he's he's been going
a long time and his teams have fallen a little bit,
but he also is a pretty legendary career and I
think goes in the annals of UK basketball is probably

(07:59):
one of the four or five best assistant coaches ever
at this school. Like, if you were to say, okay,
who are the best assistant basketball coaches ever at UK?

Speaker 6 (08:07):
One of them is probably Joe B. Hall. For his
time for his time with Adolphin. Huh.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
I think then you would look at Leonard Hamilton and
say he's right there. You know, maybe you then go
to like aerobic.

Speaker 6 (08:22):
At some point. Rubby Tubby wasn't here very long though,
as an assistant.

Speaker 7 (08:27):
In two years.

Speaker 4 (08:28):
Yeah, No, I mean I'm talking about somebody who's here
for a good period to touch him as an assistant
and does things as an assistant.

Speaker 6 (08:35):
Patinos folks were always in and out a couple of years.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
So much so I don't know if there's a Patino
person in. Is there a Tubby assistant in that you
thought was a really good Tubby assistant?

Speaker 6 (08:47):
Oh? The one, dude Sutton, Mike Sutton. Yes, I actually
think he.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Would be good on the list, and then went for
cal I mean I think I put Robic on there,
might put Orlando on there as well, but Leonard Hamilton.
I mean there's an argument Leonard Hamilton could be number
one on that list. Great recruiter like got Joe b
was recruiting the top guys because of Leonard Hamilton. I
think we need to recognize his career here.

Speaker 6 (09:15):
Definitely.

Speaker 8 (09:16):
I'll add Jim O'Brien was I remember him from camps
but no yesterday, just reading up on Leonard and looking
at old pictures of him with Joe b.

Speaker 6 (09:25):
He has not aged, but.

Speaker 8 (09:27):
I didn't realize it was fifty years ago when he
was the coach of Kentucky. Fifty when he was on
the sideline. That's wild that he was still coaching as
long as he has and had that long career.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
And if you look at the picture of him when
he was here, he doesn't look that much different now.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
I mean, the man did not age, and he had
some good years of this.

Speaker 7 (09:47):
He did.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
He had he really I mean, he probably gave that
team their best years outside of that year Bobby Surah.

Speaker 6 (09:53):
And Charlie Ward were on the team. He gave him
some of their best years.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
He made Florida State basketball relevant where yeah, there were
years where they were like a Final four contender. I
think that he would get knocked off in the Elite
eight or Sweet sixteen. But he made that football school
basketball school for a couple of years.

Speaker 8 (10:08):
And before there, he had a good run at Miami
where they were they'd occasionally beat Duke in North Carolina
when that was unheard of.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
So congratulations to UH, to Leonard Hamilton and an important
part of UK lower. I don't know that he'll ever
like have a jersey or something like that, but he
probably ought to be in the UK Athletics Hall of Fame.
I do think that probably ought to happen at some point,
because I do he is one of the three or
four best assistant back.

Speaker 6 (10:32):
He's kind of the for people they're young. He's the
Vince of that era.

Speaker 7 (10:36):
Would you agree with that? That's a good way to
put it.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
He's kind of like Vince was. He was important in
the eighties in basketball.

Speaker 8 (10:43):
Some of the national people that were talking about and
were calling him one of the best recruiters and college
basketball's ever had. I could see any school he's in
the conversation, totally could see that.

Speaker 6 (10:52):
Who's next.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Let's go to Doug.

Speaker 6 (10:54):
Doug, how are you, Doug?

Speaker 9 (10:56):
I'm doing great, Matt. Three things real quick. The third
defensive player was Alway, Uh, you were the reason that
Mark Maggard went out of business? And as far as
why was I the reason?

Speaker 6 (11:11):
Why was I the reason Mark Maggard went out of business?

Speaker 9 (11:15):
Okay? I followed him, but not on his pay site.
But he was trying to go pay site and he
was complaining because one guy name was Matt Jones, was
giving away all the information free.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Yeah, well that's that's that is not true, but that's okay.
And what's what's your third thing? I was giving away
information free, but that was because that was our business model.
We gave everything free. But it wasn't like his. I
don't even remember the name of his site, but go ahead.

Speaker 6 (11:45):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (11:46):
He he did say that.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (11:49):
And the Super Bowl, Uh Shanna said he would pull
for Russia and Putin. Uh. Putin is also a side
effect of colonoscopy.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
Yeah, joke of the day, joke of the day, joke
of the week.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
Man, the folks here can't hear it. I'm not gonna repeat.
I'm not dignifying that with a repeat answer.

Speaker 6 (12:11):
YEA, was that a great job?

Speaker 7 (12:14):
Yes, that came out of nowhere.

Speaker 6 (12:16):
I'm not sure if it was a great joke, but
that's okay if I'm not in two eight oh twenty
two eighty seven, Whose deck, Mike, Mike, go ahead, Mike.

Speaker 10 (12:27):
Yeah, I wanted to see what you guys thought. I've
been thinking about it a lot of it, you know,
y'all talking about the defense, and I agree it probably
can't get better. I think it could be a lot
better if he would cut that rotation down and ailso fact,
that's why we're struggling. And he's unranked games, playing some
guys too many minutes. And I'm not dogging the kids.
I know they got to come along, but I think
he's trying to bring them along too fast.

Speaker 6 (12:49):
I agree with you. I mean, I think he's used to.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
If you go back again to his by U days,
and I appreciate the call, if you go back to
his BYU days, he played a lot of people. That's
what he did.

Speaker 6 (13:00):
He played.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
He didn't play anybody more than twenty five to twenty
seven minutes. And I get that, and that's a philosophy.
I think that is fine. But it's philosophy. That's fine, Drew.
If you've got eleven guys that can play right now,
we've got six that are a lot better than everybody else,
and we just need to play those six. And it
might not be what he's used to, it might be
not normal, but it, I think, is what we need

(13:22):
to do right now.

Speaker 8 (13:24):
And I know he's trying to throw stuff together while
they're so limited, but you gotta find out an equation
where three of your slowest defenders aren't on the court
at the same time, or three guys that aren't a
threat to shoot. I feel like he's you know, Chandler
and Noah. Those guys have to play, but I don't
know that they have to play together as much as
as he's played them recently.

Speaker 6 (13:40):
That's it.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
I mean, I can see trying to steal some menace
to rest your starters a little bit here there, but
not all at the same time.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
I think that just so the line, this team is
not a hockey line chase, not a hockey that's just now.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
Valentine's Day's coming up.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
If you're looking for gifts for your special someone, how
about cornbread Hemp Kentucky grown Hemp gummies, oil.

Speaker 6 (14:00):
Et cetera.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
To help you rest, relax, and it can make your
special someone feel uh special. That's how that's what it
can do. It's special can be special at corn Bread
Hemp make your sweetie feel great And if you use

Speaker 6 (14:22):
It's a good gift that actually is really good. Yeah, ummy.
I said that though, find for yourself.

Speaker 7 (14:27):
You have to be a gift.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
Yeah, yeah, you don't.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
If you do like me on Valentine's Day on skyline.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
You don't have to take somebody. You can go by yourself.
It's okay, right, that is a bargain though.

Speaker 11 (14:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
Corn Bred Hemp promo code KSR free seven hundred and
fifty milligram gummy purchase with a purchase of seventy five
dollars more at Cornbread Hemp.

Speaker 6 (14:46):
We'll take a break of me right back. This is
KSR Welcome back.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
It is Kentucky Sports Radio eight five, nine two, eight
oh twenty two eighty seven here at the KS bar
and grill U getting ready. Kat's an Old Miss game
is at seven o'clock tonight on ESPN. Another Jimmy Dyke's game.
I mean, how many Jimmy Dyke's games does one person get.
I like Jimmy like he does a good job, and

(15:13):
I think he understands Kentucky's team, which is part of
why I like him. It's like he sees this so much,
he didn't just say stupid stuff. And Carl's a nice guy,
so I like that duo.

Speaker 7 (15:23):
And to be honest.

Speaker 5 (15:24):
The Kentucky Arkansas game other night, Jimmy was able to
kind of relay the emotion of what is really happening
on h.

Speaker 6 (15:30):
I mean, he coached here, right, so Jimmy understood.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
You know, let me give you example what Jimmy Dike's
and Carl Rabbits did, which I appreciated. They came up
to me before the game and said, all right, tell
me how you think this atmosphere ranks in terms of the
UK atmospheres. And I said, I don't remember another atmosphere
like this in terms of like pregame, I said, the

(15:57):
only two that stick out, I think we're the UK
Carolina in twenty twelve and then the Rick Patino return.

Speaker 6 (16:03):
But those were day games and this is a night game, so.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
You have all not all day to get rid of
it or to get ready for it. And he I
think he even maybe used that line on the broadcast.
So I like that they care enough to kind of
know the history of it.

Speaker 6 (16:20):
Et cetera.

Speaker 8 (16:21):
He put out a tweet today say it's the last
time we'll have him for a while. So for all
you Jimmy Diyke's fans appreciate tonight, really like five in
a row. Really said something weird, like we don't block
the shots or make the threes or guard or something.

Speaker 7 (16:32):
I don't know what he was really saying, but.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Yeah, I mean, I'm sure he hears crazy. I think
Jimmy does a good job. I really do. I think
he I have a lot of complaints about how ESPN
covers college basketball, but I do like that they kind
of sign announcers to conferences so that they know, yes,
they're talking about it about about the teams, by the way, and.

Speaker 8 (16:52):
Fish back on Saturday, was he there, no, no, this
is coming Saturday.

Speaker 6 (16:56):
Oh, this coming.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
I won't say one more thingbo jimmydis were talking about.
He had a really cool five moment where he did
a game where his daughter was a cheerleader.

Speaker 7 (17:02):
I think it was at Tennessee.

Speaker 5 (17:03):
His thought was a cheerleader, maybe at Tennessee, and he
was doing the game and you could tell you how
almost got a little choked up talking about it.

Speaker 7 (17:09):
I thought that was a good father daughter moment.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
It's nice Dick Vitals returning Saturday Saturday. So he's returning
Saturday for Duke at Clemson might be the only time
Duke has a chance to lose the rest of the year.

Speaker 6 (17:22):
So are you excited to have You're gonna tell a
bad baby, I's started game in a year and a half.
I am.

Speaker 8 (17:29):
I'm someone that I've never disliked him, but I don't
even say I got exhaustion, but you know, it got
the dickiv stick got a little stale there for a while.
But I've been missing him since the moment he's been gone.

Speaker 6 (17:40):
I saw her.

Speaker 8 (17:40):
He had like forty something procedures. It is amazing that
he's able to do this. So I will absolutely be
turned in.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
See, that's what I love about it is that this dude,
you want to talk about a person who loves the sport.
My dude, that guy has been I mean, how many
times have we heard his cancer's gone, it's back, It's gone,
it's back. He keeps he wants to be doing this
so much that like, how can you begrudge it? How

(18:05):
could you be anything but hoping?

Speaker 6 (18:07):
I know.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
I mean when he was on every game, it would
wear people out. But I think it's very cool he's back.
And you know, I watched that game. I want to
seem be back.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
That's the only reason I want to watch that game
for him to celebrate the moment with him. Forty procedures
and he still loves it so much he wants to
come back and still do it. What a tough guy
that guy is. Man to I think I would be like,
oh that's enough, enough's enough, I'm out.

Speaker 4 (18:32):
And we didn't talk about this because we lost the game,
so the line wasn't as cool because we lost the game.
But the game day thing where Andrea Carter made that
line about you don't want to show up into the
club with the downgrade and the way those people just
didn't react with Seth, and that was to me the

(18:55):
best epitome of why this generation of announcers needs to
like change. Vital would be into it now. Vital takes
up for coaches, but you never have to worry about
his energy. And they're watching that Andrea make that joke
and then just look at her. That was like, gosh,
we got to get some fresh blood in this sport.

Speaker 8 (19:17):
That was the nail in the coffin for basketball. Game
day Football is can't miss Saturday mornings. I genuinely I'm
not saying this to talk trash. I don't think I'll
be bothered to turn on college game day basketball for
the rest of your unlesster A Kentucky. Like they often,
I did not learn anything. I was not entertained. They're
just sitting there all stoic. They just but that is
not entertaining. I almost want to be like Free Andrea,

(19:38):
get her some persons out because she's her.

Speaker 6 (19:40):
She was great on that and they just look at her.
It's ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
A couple of lines eight, five, nine, twenty two eighty seven.

Speaker 6 (19:46):
Who's up next? Clayton, Clayton, how are you Clayton?

Speaker 12 (19:51):
Damn good Man?

Speaker 6 (19:52):
How are you guys doing good?

Speaker 13 (19:56):
I'm trying to look forward to the rest of the season.
But the Reed Shepherd thing, really they bothered me. I
grew up in Kentucky and Kentucky sports or something I
share with my dad, and uh, I just feel like,
you know, with Reid and his dad. It makes it
bother me more because I'm from Kentucky, He's from Kentucky,
and I'm trying to get over it, but still struggling self.

(20:18):
It's one of they get that off my chest and
look forward to the rest of the show.

Speaker 6 (20:22):
I totally get it. I mean, I understand why people
are like that.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
I mean, whether they whether they uh, you know, I
had a number of people write me yesterday and go,
I don't think you all should talk about the read
Jeppard thing anymore. People you know, giving him a break.
I'm giving him a break, but I'm not the one. Like,
there's a lot of fans that are upset. There's this
idea out there that I somehow magically control people's emotions

(20:47):
and that if if I say it, that they're gonna stop.

Speaker 6 (20:51):
I mean, let me, let me. Let me read you
a message I got yesterday just.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
Along the lines this, This is an actual message I
got from a dude yesterday that it gives you an example.

Speaker 6 (21:03):
Here's what he said.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
You are the worst thing that could happen to Kentucky
basketball players. Coaches and recruits read you all and when
BBN tweets, the criticism hurts their feelings and hurts recruiting.
You are the reason people get mad at the players.
I know of multiple players that feel that way, and
there's a reason for that.

Speaker 6 (21:23):
Good And I was like, you do you if I
had that kind of magic, don't you think I'd use
it for something other than like, hey send negative players.
I wouldn't say if you send a negative.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
Tweet to a player you're a jerk, but that doesn't
mean you can't have a feeling like Read Shepherd, what
are you doing?

Speaker 6 (21:43):
Like you can feel that way?

Speaker 8 (21:45):
My tweet isn't even that critical. I said, this is
an odd move by Read Shepherd. Is exactly what I
said in my replies or like, why are you telling
fans how to I'm like, I just said it's an
odd move. It is an odd move. Yeah, that's not
evening that critical. And I texted you this is before
I put any thing on the internet or commented myself.

Speaker 6 (22:01):
Dude.

Speaker 8 (22:02):
People were coming up to me at Reparenna yelling at
me about it, like I'm not inciting that. I'm telling you,
I have ten people in front of me so mad
at Re Shepherd.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
When I saw that picture, I knew what would happen,
Like you and Reed had to have known. He had
to have known. He is from the mountains, like he
is amongst them. He had to have known, and he
made the choice to do it. And I'm not saying
the kids should never be like forgiven, it's in the

(22:31):
grand scheme.

Speaker 6 (22:32):
Of thing, not a huge deal, but people are gonna
be upset.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
Right if I go to a game Matthew Harper Jones,
and it is Kentucky versus Louisville, and I show up
in a Louisville T shirt and laugh, or even if
I show up in a Joe Biden T shirt and laugh,
I can't be surprised at the reaction.

Speaker 6 (22:59):
I'm going to Yeah, yep, right, Like I know what
I'm gonna get. Now. I might choose to do it,
but I know what's gonna happen. That's what he did. Yeah,
So like he chose it.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
You know, the picture came out during our pregame show
and we were all kind of speechless because we all think,
I actally knew this is not gonna go well for him.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
It's just not and I'm not. You know, you are
free to do whatever you want, but then you are
also free to get the reaction that it gets, and
that's exactly what happened.

Speaker 6 (23:31):
We'll take a break right back. It's KOSR. TJ.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay now.
More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's
Matt Jones quarterback.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
This is Kendrick Lamar. They had the Grammys and on Sunday.
Kendrick Lamar was the big winner. He won like five
Grammys for a Song of the Year for They Not
like I don't know a whole lot about pop music today,
but I would say this, man, there's not what much

(24:07):
worse than getting in a battle with somebody and they
end up winning Song of.

Speaker 6 (24:11):
The Year for their disk track on You Like that?

Speaker 4 (24:14):
Feels like that's a pretty big l And then isn't
he doing the super Bowl too?

Speaker 6 (24:18):
Super Bowl?

Speaker 7 (24:19):
Yuh yeah, I have a run.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
So they were do me a favorite, Shannon, pull up
the people that were nominated for Best New Artists, Okay,
because to me, this is always a good indicator of
do you have any idea what's going on in the
world of music? So so read me who the nominees were,
Shannan for Best New Artists.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
I'm trying to get there in me just a minute,
trying to figure out.

Speaker 5 (24:44):
I did try to do a lot of show prep.
I thought we'd talked about the Grammy, so I studied
what Kanye's wife was wearing last night.

Speaker 7 (24:51):
I want to make sure I was very much aware.

Speaker 6 (24:53):
Yeah, and she showed up like naked right.

Speaker 7 (24:56):
Had like a completely see through They kicked them out, correct,
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (25:01):
He denies it.

Speaker 6 (25:02):
He denies they kicked him out, But I mean they
didn't stay.

Speaker 8 (25:06):
That looked like an outfit where you would be asked
to leave.

Speaker 6 (25:08):
Most established if you if you show up at a
place naked, it's not unreasonable for them to say you're
gonna have to leave.

Speaker 7 (25:15):
There was nothing to pardon me, you got to I'm not.

Speaker 6 (25:19):
I don't think it's crazy to go.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
You are going to need a piece of clothing if
you walk into this building.

Speaker 7 (25:25):
Something had nothing on.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
Uh, you have the list? Who was nominated?

Speaker 3 (25:30):
Benson Boone? Yes, my favorite artist in the world, Sabrina
Carpenter hang on.

Speaker 8 (25:37):
I had never heard of Benson Boone in my life
until the Grammys performance.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
But now, I said, is Benson Boone the guy that
got up and then two women.

Speaker 6 (25:45):
Ripped his clothes?

Speaker 8 (25:46):
I had never heard of him until Sunday night. Now,
where can I buy a concerts?

Speaker 6 (25:50):
He was swearing a blue leisure suit. It was incredible,
like he was wearing like an Elvis leisure.

Speaker 7 (25:55):
I saw Heidi Klume and some other gals.

Speaker 8 (25:59):
Clum and Nikki Glazer. That was Heidi klun telling you
think of the rez on.

Speaker 6 (26:03):
This guy.

Speaker 8 (26:03):
Isn't that a word?

Speaker 6 (26:04):
Kids say?

Speaker 8 (26:05):
He's got Heidi Klum ripping his tucks off. He did
a backflip off the piano while singing.

Speaker 6 (26:10):
So what does he do?

Speaker 7 (26:11):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (26:11):
I've only known Hi about him for Benson.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
Boone song, Shannon next, because I don't know who that is?

Speaker 4 (26:18):
Then who else? Sabrina Carpenter? Right, she's beautiful. What she's like,
she's blonde, right, I've seen her.

Speaker 8 (26:25):
She's open for Taylor on her tour.

Speaker 6 (26:27):
Yeah, so I know who that is? Okay, go ahead?

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Does she I think I'm saying that right.

Speaker 6 (26:31):
I've never heard of that.

Speaker 7 (26:33):
She like raps right, no idea, no idea?

Speaker 6 (26:37):
It's do is it? Douci?

Speaker 3 (26:40):
I could be saying it wrong. I don't know who
that person is.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
Okay, all right?

Speaker 3 (26:43):
Who else I'm gonna say this one wrong? To Quang
beIN k h are you a N G B I
N How would you say? Cranbin?

Speaker 6 (26:56):
I don't I know?

Speaker 3 (26:57):
He sound one hundred years old saying this. But I've
never heard of these people.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Qu Quang or Kwang.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Quang Ben or Quing Ben.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
Okay, we don't know who that is. I never heard
of them, and then who's the other one.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Well, there's a couple more. Uh, there's Ray Ray, just
a guy, y e Ray.

Speaker 6 (27:19):
Ray fix the podium. He Ray is not nominated. That's
just a guy from Harlan and he just he got
a ticket. There's nobody, there's no singer. That name is
just Ray.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
There's two more, no last name, just Ray, Belt Prince.
You don't know the last name, you know, Yeah, but Madonna.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Hanson, Madonna and Beyonce can be one name. Ray's gotta
have a last name.

Speaker 7 (27:43):
You can't just.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
Be Ray, not when you're read with a knee on
the end.

Speaker 6 (27:46):
Like if I'm a singer, I can't just be Matt Like.
You gotta have something.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
You can't just be Ray for sure, all right?

Speaker 6 (27:55):
And then what was the last one?

Speaker 3 (27:56):
Two more Shaboozy?

Speaker 4 (27:58):
Okay, now I know Shaboozi. That's the one that sings
that tipsy song. And then that's not it. That's not
the song.

Speaker 6 (28:05):
That's Jake one.

Speaker 8 (28:06):
He copied Jake one.

Speaker 7 (28:07):
It's uh, but he he says that in his so.

Speaker 8 (28:10):
Yeah, he stole Jake One's.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
Yeah, it's he says, everybody in the everybody in the
club getting tips.

Speaker 7 (28:17):
He stole. He copied it off the first guy.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
Right from one, so it was, and then Teddy Swims,
who I've heard of, and then Chappelle, I guess it
wrote wrote that Chapel Chafelon.

Speaker 6 (28:33):
It's not like Dave Chappelle. I think it's not.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Listen to any of this stuff.

Speaker 6 (28:38):
I think it's Chapel Roone.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
She she played in Louisville and they had to like
shut down the streets. Remember, like she shut the city down.
They they she was there for some sort of festival
or something. Uh and and and they loved it.

Speaker 7 (28:52):
Swims.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
I know that guy face.

Speaker 6 (28:55):
What does he do?

Speaker 8 (28:56):
Sings? He's good at it, Swims. No, he's good. I
can't name a song, but I like him. I think
he got big on TikTok.

Speaker 6 (29:03):
That's where I saw you appreciated that ship.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
Yeah, I mean Teddy Swim that's what he does. I
gotta look up this Ray. Okay, I don't buy im. No,
I don't buy Ray. Ray is not a person who's next.

Speaker 6 (29:15):
Let's go to ted Ray. Ted Go ahead, Tedy, that's.

Speaker 14 (29:21):
The segway, Teddy, Teddy, Teddy speaking from Teddy from Chicago too. Hey, guys,
hometown here in Chicago. You know, I attended the UK
in the eighties. I'm gonna be quicker and I got
a colonoscul be thing for you too, man. But I
like Pope. I really hope UK were to landed. Billy
Donovan let me let me speak quickly to this. He's
been here for five years now, you know, coaching through

(29:44):
some of the most terrible bulls teams I've seen in
my life, going through the Jordan days, and he's navigated
many many postgame pressers and the beat here, as you
guys know, is very tough, real tough. He's never ever
been at a loss for words like Pope was Saturday.
I was frozen when I listened to Mark.

Speaker 7 (30:01):
Now.

Speaker 14 (30:01):
Billy's a super smart, well smoken basketball guy. I always
learned something when he speaks, and this leads me to Mark.
I like Mark. I like him a lot. He's no
doubt a smart guy. My concern he's a really nice
guy too. That's why I like him. I concern is
his ability to recruit the top shelf talent.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
We'll find out he didn't get Caleb Wilson.

Speaker 4 (30:23):
But remember that was an innile thing, and I don't
know why that happened, and I'm not involved. But but
today there was news Nate Ament, who is ranked in
the top five, and really I don't know that Kentucky
had been a huge contender for is now going to
take his last visit to Kentucky and he is down
to Doke, Kentucky and Louisville.

Speaker 6 (30:43):
What a threesome to be the last three.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
But if he gets him, that would answer your your concerns, right.

Speaker 14 (30:51):
Yeah, it does. I think I think you know, you
gotta realize he's going up against guys like Cal and
some smooth talkers. Billy's not a smooth talker. He is smooth,
but he's authentic. Y.

Speaker 6 (31:00):
Billy's not coming here.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
On some level though, to go Billy Donovan, is this,
Billy's this, He's not coming here, Like he's not the
coach here. Mark is so like saying what Billy could
have done is really not that productive for us because
he's not coming here.

Speaker 14 (31:18):
All right, Hey man, let me get on an important
thing here. You're a colonoscopy. I got some advice for
you that is important. Start to start the magic potion
regiment early in the day on Wednesday. Don't start it
at noon. My doc had me started early in the morning,
so I was done evacuating, got a good night's sleep.
I hear people taking his starting at noon. They're up

(31:39):
all night, they're they're not rested. You got to do
a show Thursday. You tell your doctor you're starting at
Wednesday morning early. You know what. My brother in law
showed up in his colonoscopy. He drove there. The doc says,
where's your where's your wife? He said, I drove. He said, well,
we can't do it. He said why not? He said,
we're giving you as He said, well, kid, have you

(32:00):
ever done it without an He said no. He said,
let's do it. He had a little discomfort.

Speaker 6 (32:05):
Yeah, we're not doing it. I'm taking all the anesthesia.
I'm not I'm not I'm not a tough guy.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
I appreciate the car. I'm gonna take the anesthesia. I
don't need to do any sort of you know, give
it to me raw. I'm gonna go ahead, and I'm
going ahead and doing it.

Speaker 7 (32:19):
I would not want that.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
I'm gonna go ahead and just to just you just
do the anesthesia. And then Ryan is he doesn't know
this yet, but he's gonna drive me home.

Speaker 7 (32:28):
I can drive you home all right.

Speaker 5 (32:29):
You know, and I also planned on doing the show
to Thursday morning. We're just gonna just plan on it
just in case.

Speaker 6 (32:34):
Why don't you think I'll be here. You don't think
I'm gonna show up.

Speaker 7 (32:37):
It's just you're not gonna feel the greatest. You're gonna feel.

Speaker 6 (32:40):
I didn't feel the greatest last Thursday. That's true. You
and I also need to show up.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
Could you drink the potion like during the show Wednesday.

Speaker 6 (32:46):
There's no.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
You don't do the potion anymore. It's like pills. It's
like pills and and uh and all that stuff. So
it's it's it's a lot, it's a lot better DraftKings. Uh,
let's make our SEC picks. You go to Draft Kings,
use promo code KSR. Get your get your bets in
SEC games tonight. If I can pull it up, We've
got Kentucky. We'll pick that one a little bit later.

(33:10):
But the other SEC games, I'm sorry, it's taking me
a sick to get it.

Speaker 10 (33:13):
There.

Speaker 6 (33:14):
We go.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
Vanderbilt at Florida. Any chance Vandy can pull the upset.
Florida has been struggling.

Speaker 5 (33:20):
Florida didn't look good against Tennessee this past weekend, but
I think they still get Vandy.

Speaker 6 (33:24):
Yeah, Florida's gonna win Florida chanting any chance you get this.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Vandy's not good on the road. They lost by thirty
on Saturday at Oklahoma. They're gonna lose.

Speaker 6 (33:31):
TA Oklahoma is at Auburn.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Auburn wins by like a thousand, Right, So these games
are actually not that great. Tomorrow night, By the way,
Arkansas at Texas, does col continue the streak.

Speaker 8 (33:44):
Perfect spot to have a hangover game and lose at Texas. Yeah,
not just the col dynamic, but a big win, playing
so well like they did in Lexington.

Speaker 6 (33:51):
That's in a rivalry that's a historic rivalry that they
have not played in years.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
I mean they have not played in a long long time.
I'm against each other and this is a rivalry that
goes back one hundred years, and I think they haven't
played in like the last fifteen or twenty.

Speaker 7 (34:07):
I'm a drew.

Speaker 5 (34:07):
I think Arkansas snaps back to reality and has trouble
scoring sixty points.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
DraftKings promo code KSR. Get your bets in and by
the way, today, if you're at kaspar As well, you
can use your little thing there. Get one hundred percent
profit boost. Just scan it on your phone. That'll be
all day today for the game. We'll take a break.
Be right back to Kentucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (34:29):
Water Back.

Speaker 4 (34:30):
It is Kentucky Sports Radio. So this is Ray. And
it's a woman's right, not a guy. So it's not
a dude from Harlan.

Speaker 6 (34:37):
It's a woman from Harlan from Marland. Okay.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
See, I didn't know, I thought, but now I do.
Apparently the one thing we couldn't pronounce kwong fin is
psychedelic funk. Okay, which, by the way, my favorite kind
of funk it is is the psychedelic can If you're
gonna have funk, to me, get as psychedelic as possible.

Speaker 8 (35:02):
I was way off on Ray. I pictured a guy
with a big set of keys on his belt, pulling
up his jeans, walking up to you. Maybe a fou Manchu.
Not this at all. I have to check out some
Ray on the way home.

Speaker 6 (35:11):
There you go. So good to know, good to know
what's out there right, what the kids are listening to.

Speaker 5 (35:16):
I've heard, you know, a couple of those we kind
of had heard, but I have never heard of Ray.

Speaker 4 (35:20):
They're finally bringing back the beer here that we ran
out of over the weekend.

Speaker 6 (35:25):
I see.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
We now have beer coming in because we had run
out of basically all of its.

Speaker 5 (35:31):
Kind of a good problem, but you had a back
on that. Here's more beer coming in.

Speaker 6 (35:34):
I'll get the beer more beer brush light eight five
nine two A twenty two eighty seven. I do more
of it. Good night.

Speaker 4 (35:43):
Well fine, I guess we'll have whatever whatever we need.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
Who's up next, Bob and Jamestown?

Speaker 7 (35:48):
Bob?

Speaker 6 (35:49):
How are you, Bob?

Speaker 11 (35:51):
I'm doing good. Matt, when you have your procedure Thursday, please,
if you want to have a little a little more fun,
tell said this you want ketamine. That way you'll be
completely awake and you can watch it on the screen.

Speaker 6 (36:05):
I don't want to watch it? What who are you?

Speaker 13 (36:08):
Like?

Speaker 6 (36:09):
Like, like, why would I want to watch it? That way?

Speaker 11 (36:12):
You can see what I mean, you can see it personally.
You're right there while it's happening, and it's it's a
it's a real good show. You'll be watching a monitor
and uh, I could say two hundred ninety milligram two
hundred and ninety milligram, lindsay tablet a couple of bottles

(36:33):
of Magnesi and said draight and you'll be good to go.
I guess they tell the this it is you want?
You want ketamine? You can watch it.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
It'll be sitting around taking ketamine all day. Okay, I'm good,
but thank you.

Speaker 11 (36:45):
No, you just have it one time and then you'll
be completely awake, you'll be aware. You can watch it.
There's no pain, there's nothing that's good recovery, and it
makes it a lot better experiences you'll remember.

Speaker 6 (37:00):
All right, Well, thank you very much, Bob. I appreciate it. Yeah,
I really want to remember. But see again, I get
all the people go, why why are you so mean
to Bob?

Speaker 5 (37:09):
For all the times you did not cut Bob off?
That on one I wish you would have cut Bob off.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
Doc k ol miss today, what tonight? What do you
what are you expecting?

Speaker 8 (37:18):
I'm a little worried. Gotta get Butler back. They have
really good guards, however they're small. Kentucky's got some length.
Kentucky should be able to rebound. Play the guys that
need to play as much as possible. And Kobe Brea
just give him a little nudge, please play well, get
some double digits and they can be okay, But I
do worry about how they're gonna guard their guards. That

(37:40):
the dude for Virginia Tech looks so good against a.

Speaker 6 (37:42):
He's really good. And what's the little dude that that shoots?

Speaker 8 (37:45):
You can't leave.

Speaker 6 (37:48):
Little the little white dude. You cannot leave that guy
for Virginia. Yeah, he will.

Speaker 5 (37:53):
He will absolutely torch you if you're ready to go see.
I'm I'm a little worried too about that. It may
be a game what they do to the offense. If
and do what they did against Arkansas'll just punch it
into Mari and say, hey, man, just go get us
a bucket, because he definitely has this. We have his
size a vanity down low for sure.

Speaker 8 (38:08):
But they've also lost three or four. It's not like
you're going in. It's just some hot team. I mean,
their backs are against the wall too. It's just gonna
create a run. Who do you think is.

Speaker 6 (38:16):
The key player for us?

Speaker 8 (38:20):
I feel like I say Kobe every game because he's
been so cold. I'm actually gonna say one of those
guys off the bench is gonna have played defense. You know. Now,
I'm going off the grid. I'm going Brandon Garrison. He
hadn't played well lately. He's had a few spurts. We
need a full Brandon Garrison game, even though I just
said that Mary needs to play a lot and he
won't play the whole game. So when Garrison's in, I

(38:41):
hope there's not a big drop off. I'll say him this.

Speaker 5 (38:43):
Game and you know they Andrew Carr's healthier. You know
he's gonna play more minutes, and that that gives us
a more of a size advantage down low. So maybe
if if he is back to full strength or close
to full strength, he can have a big game for him.

Speaker 8 (38:56):
Yeah, someone did send me a fun stat. Ole Miss
is like nearly the last the all of college basketball height.
I mean, they're pretty sure their guards that right, So
Kentucky does have an advantage there. That'll be a lot
faster and quicker and they play that way. But Kentucky
has some hope.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
This is a game where we kind of get car
back to car. This is the first game where he's
not really been where he's not been on the injury
list in a while, and I would like to see
him get you know, I don't expect him to be
one hundred percent. I mean, but that was a dude
who was a double digit score for us for a
long time that we've just kind of had to play
around or without.

Speaker 6 (39:30):
For so long. I want to see that finally become
a thing.

Speaker 8 (39:33):
And in most of the big wins, he made some
big plays down the stretch. You know, maybe he didn't
have the best game ever, but how many times we
see him go get a three point play or go
get a big rebound. So, I mean, he.

Speaker 4 (39:42):
Can get you a couple easy buckets around the rim,
which is something this team struggles at getting. Sometimes I
think that I think he's important.

Speaker 5 (39:51):
And this is a game where he can absolutely do that.
Man gets get his confidence back and he can knock
some of the rust off and play.

Speaker 7 (39:57):
Well. You know, what do you have?

Speaker 5 (39:59):
You have fifteen minutes game. He didn't play a whole lot.
You look for probably double that maybe this game.

Speaker 6 (40:03):
Who's next?

Speaker 3 (40:04):
Shannon Roger?

Speaker 6 (40:05):
Roger, go ahead, Roger.

Speaker 12 (40:08):
Oh, thanks man for taking my call. The question I have,
one of them is how come we didn't bowl in
the Arkansas game with fifty six seconds ago?

Speaker 6 (40:18):
Ah, Probably because we thought it was over.

Speaker 4 (40:20):
I mean it was a ten point game, and there
comes a point where you just don't necessarily need the
spread to be twenty five points, you know.

Speaker 6 (40:28):
I mean that's just my guess. If I were to guess.

Speaker 12 (40:33):
Well, most most games I've ever watched, I've seen teams
come back with thirty seconds to go by down by
ten and win. I am not saying it.

Speaker 4 (40:40):
Yeah, I mean, I'm not saying they shouldn't have done it,
but like it is a trade off. I think, you know,
there were a couple of plays. I think if we
had made a shot here or there, maybe they would
have done it. But you know, I don't know. I
didn't have a huge complaint with not doing it, but go.

Speaker 12 (40:56):
Ahead, no, I mean, I just it was just weird
because I the most scenes that they start fouling, That's
what That's reason I was curious to say if anybody
heard or you know, and then people was walking out
at that time too.

Speaker 4 (41:09):
Yeah, people take it, you know, for all the excitement,
and I appreciate the call for all the excitement there
was in the ring, and there was a lot people
also did get out of there as quickly as they could.

Speaker 8 (41:18):
Those stairs were pretty full of lady, they were. I
mean it was Amuri cut it to ten with like
a minute left. At that point, I think everybody knew
what the end result was.

Speaker 5 (41:27):
Yeah, they blew a whistle, it was a foul or something,
and the TV cameras showed them.

Speaker 4 (41:30):
People just mass I mean there were people that have
been there since that opened the doors, you know. I
do think there was and there was also I think
a lot of people, as much as they wanted to
see him come out, they didn't want to see cal
leave with a big.

Speaker 6 (41:42):
Smile on his face, you know what I mean. I
do think that was part of it.

Speaker 7 (41:44):
Dred think there's a true to that.

Speaker 6 (41:46):
Yeah, there was a lot.

Speaker 8 (41:46):
That's That's probably the biggest mass exitus i've seen. I
think Tennessee got him pretty good a few years ago.
And everybody left early because you just don't normally see
that at rub you just stayed at the end, they
were all scattering.
