Shannon Tekey Sports Radio. Our Clark's Puppy Shop. Phone number

seven Davision Glass Tech Machines, myself phone. We've got some
good text message. We'll get to it. But listen, I've
waited all week to talk to Drew about white lotus.
So this is your this is your head's up, this
is your warning. This segment we're gonna talk about white lotus.
(01:27):
It ended over a week ago. We could go yesterday.
You've had a long time to watch it. If you
haven't watched it, I'm sorry, but I've waited all week
to talk about it. So this is your spoiler alert.
It's coming. We're gonna talk about white lotus. Billy's gonna
join us because Billy also has three He said he
has white lotus thoughts.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Okay, good to have you back on your Billy. Yeah,
great to be here, guys. Good to see you Ryan,
Good to see you Billy and your heir. It looks
a little better than like when we left, and not
so much. Billy bangs. You got to come over to
the side a little bit.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Uh secret ingredient is moose today, Moose today, Ryan. So
we're you know, we're trying new things.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
We're evolving.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
Two weeks from now, it'll look even better.
Speaker 6 (02:01):
I heard Shannon give you a hard time this morning about.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
It or not for shanning to do that, But I'm
looking forward to playing pick a ball with him if
we ever get let's go.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Yeah, you can be over fourth. There we go?
Speaker 6 (02:13):
Is it me and Ryan versus the pre show?
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Is that how we're doing?
Speaker 5 (02:15):
So let's go, Shannon, let's do it.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Okay, I'm with you, man.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
See, I think doubles will be much better. You don't
have to move as much.
Speaker 6 (02:21):
Oh, I'm not doing singles.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Uh single, I'm telling you I gonna walk for three
days it is, come on, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:27):
I do my neighborhood walk. And that's the extent of
even last night. Abby was like, you know, at one
point in your life you sprint, and you don't know
that's the last time you ever sprint, Like you think
you'll ever run again.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
No, I'm never running.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
No, never somebody's chasing you with a gun or a night.
Speaker 6 (02:42):
Even then, shoot me, I'm not I'm not running.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
I'm too old to run, all right, Uh, White Lotus
third season is in Thailand. A lot going on.
Speaker 7 (02:54):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
Let's start with uh, Let's start with the non dramatic
finishes and get to the dramatic finish. You okay with that,
Let's start with the three the three high school friends.
I mean, you see, you knew that was coming. I mean,
you knew they were gonna fight and dislike each other,
but I just knew it they were gonna end up
back all lovey dovey as friends.
Speaker 8 (03:13):
Again.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
What were your thoughts about the three high school friends.
Speaker 6 (03:16):
I wish there were more to that storyline because there's
you know, there's a lot of them, and they kept
setting it up and building it. But I guess was
the message just with your friends in life, you fight,
and you have your moments. At the end of the day,
you kiss and say I love you, and that's about friendship.
Speaker 9 (03:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
I kind of felt like a little deep meeting to
their storyline when I was wanting a little more chaos.
But uh, I guess that was my big takeaway is
that you know, you got your your lifelong friends and
it's a bumpy road, but in the end, you just
you hug and you love each other.
Speaker 10 (03:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
I mean, if it's if the whole show is supposed
to be a social experiment, that just seemed like a
waste of time. Honestly, they all just made up at
the end. Nothing really happened. They talked behind their backs
to each other a couple of times. I don't know
the celebrity needed to have close friends. Is that what
I'm supposed to learn here? I thought that that was
a disappointing part.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Yeah it was. Yeah, I agree with you. You kind of
could predict how that was going to play out. You
thought maybe they might do something just crazy at the end.
They didn't. They ended up all kissing and hugging and
going I called me and friends again.
Speaker 6 (04:12):
There was so much to tie up in that one episode.
You knew that some of the conclusions were gonna be
kind of flat and just rushed. That was one of
a lot of them. I wanted a lot more, and
they were just like, I love you, I love you,
I love you, And then they closed the book on that.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
All right, let's go to the Duke family. The rat Lifts,
The rat Lifts.
Speaker 6 (04:30):
I love the rat Lifts. They need to spin off show.
Speaker 11 (04:32):
You know.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
The dad finds out why they're in Thailand, that his
empire has collapsed, he's probably going to jail when he
gets back to the United States. And then he has
these visions of murder, suicide, poisoning his family. And then
at the end, they're on the boat, they all get
their cell phone, they look that's when they realized their
life has changed forever. How do you think that one
(04:54):
played out?
Speaker 6 (04:55):
If he had really killed his family the way it
looked like he was going to, it would have been
one of the darkest scenes in TV history. I mean,
I was kind of anxious watching like, they're not really
gonna kill off a whole family with a toast like this,
are they? Because that would have been insane to do.
Just the thought of him, even I don't even even
though he was in that dark place, murdering your kids
(05:16):
and your wife with a poisoned cocktail, that's crazy. Even
though it would have been so dark and heavy, part
of me wishes he had gone through with it just
for the sake of the show. But that's a wild
thing to consider. And how the hell do they not
clean out the blender for Lockie the next day? How
does Dad not clean it out before he goes to bed?
No oning he's put poison in it, And how does
(05:37):
Lockie wake up and see that filthy blenders? Like, yeah,
I'll make a protein shake in this. So my two
takeaways were, holy cow, that was pretty intense for the
few minutes of that toast, and then wash out the blender.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Yeah I used blender please.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
I mean, everybody's gonna clean that before they end up
making a drink. But you know, I just it felt unresolved.
It felt like the dad got off easy, didn't it
Like it's kind of cut to hey, you know them
looking at their phones and things are going to change.
I mean, there was this whole build up for this
guy to be in trouble with his family and I
didn't get any of that payoff. So was glad the
(06:10):
youngest didn't die. Did you think he was dead when
he drank the milkshake? Oh yeah, uh that that was
gonna piss me off, no doubt if he died.
Speaker 5 (06:17):
But the way that they did it.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Where one died and the other came alive like that
was that was odd as well.
Speaker 6 (06:23):
And we kind of to to get a little deep
on him. We saw Saxon kind of turn around from
the bad guy to like a sympathetic figure. You know,
he he sucked for the first few episodes, like this
is the worst guy on the planet, and then he
kind of gets teary eyed when he saw the the
girl run off to to Wallgoggins, and then on the
on the boat, he's like a different person. He went
from the least likable to maybe the most likable guy. Yeah,
(06:46):
I still love the mom though she's the bit. I
have not stopped saying Piper no. There's not a day
that has gone by in the last three weeks I've
not said Piper no. In some form of my life.
They'll have a season four, probably with different characters. HBO,
get us a ratle of show. Just give us the
ratle of family somewhere. Let's go to Belinda and Greg.
(07:07):
Belinda ends up being a very rich lady, but then
she kind of does to the massuse on the island
what Jennifer Cooley did to her in the first episode.
Promises her to go into business together, change a new life,
then gets a lot of money, like peace out, I'm
out leave you there.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
What do you think about that?
Speaker 6 (07:28):
It's another one that felt kind of flat after all
the build up. I guess you just saw her turn around.
That money can change anyone. Maybe there's a little bit
of that's Tanya's way of taking care of her from
the grave. But that was another one. I wish there'd
been a lot more to it. I don't know what
you could do. He wasn't gonna kill her or anything,
I don't think, but the sun just shows up out
(07:49):
of nowhere to negotiate, and that was just kind of
the ending.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
That was another one.
Speaker 6 (07:53):
They had so much going on, it's almost like we
didn't need some of these storylines.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Yeah, failure to wrap it up once again, it falls flat.
I didn't even see Gary again after he had paid
the money, right, I mean, it just kind of fades away.
And he's a huge character that's been in multiple seasons,
so he's the only one that's been in all three seasons.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
He's the only one.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
And he just pays her off and that's the end
of the story line. Like, I hope he comes back
because that feels unfinished as well.
Speaker 6 (08:18):
I wonder if what's her name of the character whatever name? Yes, oh, okay,
I wonder if there's always a couple holdovers for the
next season. I wonder if we'll get the wealthy version
of her. Next time.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
She's been on two of the three.
Speaker 6 (08:31):
Yeah, there's always a few. She seems like one that
might be one of the holdovers.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
All right, let's get the Walt Goggins and Chelsea. This
is the big climax, the big ending where he shoots
the man he thinks is Kilty's dad, only to find
out as I predicted, it was really his dad.
Speaker 6 (08:49):
You said it on like episode one. I remember, huh,
I was going to give you your flowers in this conversation.
You already said it.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
I'm gonna pat my own self on the back. I
knew that was gonna end up being his dad. And
then as the gunfire ups, Chelsea gets hit. He's carrying
Chelsea across the bridge and gate Gecock Gate two, Gay
Talk Geycock, the guy the uh security guard.
Speaker 6 (09:14):
I don't think that's it.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Yeah, well something like that.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Watch I haven't seen any of this and just listening
in I don't think. I don't think.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Now will he? As I predicted also, I said he's
gonna end up killing somebody and being a hero, because
they showed him taking shooting lessons and the one guy said,
hey man, you gotta killer instinct. How do you think
how that that the big dramatic finish. How did it
play out for you?
Speaker 6 (09:40):
So I guess that was the body we saw in
the first scene was then floating.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
I liked the twist, even though you predicted it right
away that that was his dad. This shootout was a
little over the top. Suddenly Walt Goggins, he just turns
into Navy seal shooting guys between the eyes from long range.
It was it was a little much for me. I
wish they had kind of done that same ending, but
without the full on shootout on the property and killing
his girlfriend. But that being his dad was a good twist.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Yeah, that security guard was such a whimp. I knew
there was going to be something involving him in the
final murder, but I felt like I was watching Star
Wars a little bit when the guy died and the
woman's like, he's your father, he's your father. It's like
the Asian Star Wars that was snuck in and White loadus.
I was like an Empire strikes back. But I kind
of I seemed to I like Chelsea. I came around
(10:29):
on her.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
She was probably one of my favorite characters, and.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
I agree I think she had my favorite character on.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
The host show See Her Die kind of stunk.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
But the walker Walter goggins dad storyline of him pushing
him over and then finally breaking it, I don't know,
And nobody in it. Nobody acted like there was a
mass shooting on the property either, Like everybody just got
on the boat and didn't talk about it, like there's.
Speaker 6 (10:49):
Just a big that was a big shootout. Yeah, that's
what I mean. It's a little much. I wish he
had just like killed him when he was in the
house kind of a private moment and then learned after
the fact. Yeah, not a on action scene at the
end of this show that hadn't had much action.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Now. The one thing I was I think we really
got left hanging on two with the three rushing guys.
M you know, they kind of discovered they did it,
but then they just let it go like Okay, you know,
they robbed the jewelry store and they you know, we're
shooting guns, but it's okay.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
The Pearity Guard decided not to do anything about that.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Yeah, So I don't know, a few things elements that
felt unfinished, But overall, what did you think, Ryan?
Speaker 5 (11:27):
Give it a grade.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
I'll give it A. I'll give it a B. The
other ones, the other two I thought were definitely a's.
This one's a B, maybe even a B minus. What
about you, guys, I.
Speaker 6 (11:37):
Give it a C. I enjoyed it, and I'm ready
for season four. But it might even be a D
if not for Parker Posey is the role of Mom
and Walton Goggins. They were both just so good. Those
two need emmys. They'll win emmys. They they really made
the season for me.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Yeah, I'm around the same. I'm around C plus or
a C. It's a passing grade. But I'm now not
gonna watch it again or think about it until the
next season.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
So, Mike White, you got some room to make up.
Speaker 6 (12:03):
For the rumor is a ski resort at the next one?
They keep doing beaches. He even said, I'm tired of beaches.
We're going somewhere else, the rumors of ski resort.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
You guys, watch the little interviews they do after the episodes.
I'll watch every one of those.
Speaker 6 (12:16):
I saw most of them.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Yeah, those are good, all right, So well, you liked
it or not, there's your White Lotus update. Can take
a sports radio.
Speaker 6 (12:24):
Before we move on from HBO, are you up on
Righteous Jymstone?
Speaker 1 (12:26):
I watched it last night.
Speaker 6 (12:27):
I'm still one behind. Okay, goodness is I'm one that
can like I like some over the top comedies that
might be a little raunchy and vulgar. This is just
complete chaos this season. I'm enjoying it, but they are
doing it all.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
We've seen way too much of Wall Goggins from the
waist down, way too much. We don't need to see
any more of that.
Speaker 6 (12:46):
It's funny, but holy cow, they're over the top this year.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
H So we'll do our righteous Gymson an update, I
think like three more episodes, right, there's a.
Speaker 6 (12:54):
Yeah, and The Last of Us started last night. I
watched that. If you if you enjoyed the Last of Us,
don't know about That's when Shannon would like it's kind
of their version of Walking Dead.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Okay, we go. I don't have to watch out so
I can feel like I'm part of the group.
Speaker 6 (13:08):
Shannon turned his radio off with all the people who
haven't seen that seven, we're.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Not even on the air anymore.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Well, I want of the deal white Lotus segments. So
there it is all right, We'll take our break come back.
Eight five nine two two two eight seven. We got
a couple of lines over if you want to get
on board, we'll take your calls. We come back. I'm
Kentucky Sports Radio, Little Hoodie the Blowfish, Ryan Leman, Drew Franklin,
Shannon the Dude. Welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio eight five
nine two eight oh two to eight seven at our
Clark's Pumping Shop phone number. If you want to call him,
get on board. So we got a phone line just
(13:33):
about full. So Shan, let's get a couple. Who we got?
Speaker 2 (13:35):
All right, So we got Carter and Carter is the
fan that was doing L's down at the Masters. Yeah, Carter,
no way.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Now how do we know this is the guy?
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Well, he claims to be. Go ahead, Carter, make you Carter?
Speaker 12 (13:50):
Hey, guys, how's it going?
Speaker 9 (13:52):
So?
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Was that you and the video of a Rory walking
by and you give him the L's Down?
Speaker 12 (13:57):
Yes, sir, that was me, my buddy. I had an
extra ticket for Sunday and invited me to come on down,
so had to make sure I was wearing my UK polo,
my Keen Trades hat and just happened to be the
right place, right time when Rory was walking out of
Butler's cabin, So I thought it'd be a good opportunity
to trigger some delusional cards fans, and it looks like
(14:18):
it was like it worked on the on the Twitter comments.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
So dude, there's been some great double barrel ls down
that raaks up there as one of the best of
all time.
Speaker 12 (14:30):
Yeah, it was a lot of fun.
Speaker 13 (14:31):
It was a great day.
Speaker 12 (14:33):
Saw a lot of Cats fans, even got to go
cats from one of the Green Jackets walking around. Tried
to catch Flinner on the course, wasn't able to find him.
But yeah, kind of like like Drew said, it is
fun to be at home on Sunday and kind of
get all the action. But nothing really beats being around
like sixteen Green where we were sitting and watching the
(14:54):
scoreboards update, and like Rory's big shot into fifteen was
right about the time that Ros tied it up. So
there's just a lot of a lot of tension in
the air, a lot of fun, and it's really nice
just for nobody on their phones and you just you're
all in the moment. So it's a good time.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Now, how did you get that spot? I mean you
got you're on the front of the shoot when he
walks up there. Did you have to sprint knock people
over to get that spot?
Speaker 12 (15:20):
No, everybody was just in the wrong spot. I know.
I saw all the security guards kind of gathering over there,
so I walked over and started talking to him, and
I was like, is this the spot to be? And
they were like, yeah, just just sit right here and wait.
And got to talking to some of the people around there.
Speaker 14 (15:34):
And.
Speaker 12 (15:36):
Like two of the security guards were from the Lexington area,
one guy from Hazard, so they were Kentucky was representing
all over the place.
Speaker 13 (15:43):
Is the cool experience?
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Once again, the show never ceases to amaze me. We
put that out there and then the guy that actually
did it calls in. Carter calls in the guy that
did the double barrels down.
Speaker 6 (15:53):
Beautiful Carter, did you survive there without giving all of
your money to the gift shop?
Speaker 11 (16:00):
Oh?
Speaker 12 (16:00):
Man, I spent way too much on on polos and
quarters It's and a couple too many Pimento cheese sandwiches
and yeah, got enough, guys, way to make it back home.
But we'll see what happens for the rest of the week.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Well, Cardi, you become a hero and Big Blue Nation,
well done, Well played. And we look forward to meeting
you some day down the road.
Speaker 11 (16:20):
All right, Yeah, there, you guys have one.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
All right. I assume he's probably driving back now. He
was in the car, maybe driving back now.
Speaker 6 (16:28):
Beautiful site, though, you know, has there been a bigger
platform for an L's Down? A lot of people were
probably tuned in because that was right after Rory putted
out to win it, after the playoff. Hal's millions of
eyeballs there. I think that might be the biggest stage
for a double L's Down that we've seen.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
What are some of the best ones? Will Levis in
the end zone and doing the double ARLs down at
Papa John's.
Speaker 6 (16:51):
Yeah, the year Shay went Off had the big game,
I feel like the whole team.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
Was doing it a lot.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
There's been a lot of good food, especially when they
go into Louisville Stadium.
Speaker 11 (17:03):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (17:04):
I love all of them equally, really, but I think
that might.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Have been all right? Eight two two eight seven? Who's next?
Shannon Wes go ahead.
Speaker 9 (17:13):
Wes, Hey, guys, great recruiting weekend for basketball. Hopefully we
can lock up Wilkerson for the next few days. I
think we've got a pretty good squad going into next
year with one glaring omission. I still think we've got
to have a backup point guard that can guard the
man in front of him and initiate the offense if
(17:36):
we if, if if Jalen was to go down with
any kind of injury. With the roster we have now,
we're dead as far as point guard goes. We we
saw the Travis Perry Colin Chandler Extended Minutes movie last season. Uh,
it gets twenty percent on Rotten Tomatoes. I know people
aren't gonna like that comment, but it is what it is.
What do you guys think? Do you think the staff's
(17:57):
looking for a backup point or are we just going to
roll with what we've got assuming we get Wilkerson.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Appreciate it, Wes. I mean it's a it's a fair
question and a fair point. If you've got Low, Chandler, Perry,
Jasper can play it. I mean, if you had to,
oh Way could probably play some backup point if you needed.
What are your thoughts about the position right now?
Speaker 6 (18:13):
I agree with the caller it is questionable behind Low
as a true point guard. I mean, even Jasper's off
the ball, Colin Chandler's off the ball. You got Perry
on the roster, who played a lot of minutes by
necessity last year. But they're already at twelve roster spots,
and I think they'll prioritize shoot him with Wilkerson. I
don't I don't know if Wilkerson could give you many
minutes there, but he's right, you got to keep low healthy,
and he's gonna have to play close to thirty minutes
(18:35):
a game.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Who's next thing, Let's get one more phone call up.
Who we got Let's go to Chris, Chris, go ahead, Chris.
Speaker 13 (18:43):
Hey, guys.
Speaker 15 (18:43):
One thing I was thinking about when you're talking about
White Lotus is I didn't realize that maybe I'm late
to the party. But that actor that played Greg also
did Uncle Rico in Napolion Dynamite, So I just couldn't
look at the guy the same way.
Speaker 13 (18:56):
And I'm expecting him.
Speaker 15 (18:57):
To throw a football over a mountain time and there's
no mountains the st Land. So that's where I was
kind of, uh, kind of screwed up. And then also,
did you see that product place but that they did
with coffee mate?
Speaker 1 (19:10):
I don't think I couldn't catch that, didn't catch it?
Speaker 15 (19:13):
Yeah, So it's uh it's a pina colada labor that
you can put in your coffee. So I think that
didn't work out too well either, So just my thoughts.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
All. I appreciate it. Chris. Yeah, we talked about him
being in uh the other movie of the first season.
I think you or Matt recognized. Isn't that Uncle Fester
or whatever his name is from Uncle Rico Rico?
Speaker 6 (19:37):
One more product placement. This isn't a spoiler for the
people that had turned off the White Loaves discussion, you
can keep listening. They gave us another Duke meme even
though the game had already happened.
Speaker 14 (19:47):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (19:48):
In the finale, he kind of does it again in
his Duke shirt.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Yeah, he wore the Duke shirt every episode. I think
there for a while.
Speaker 6 (19:55):
And there was when the sun shows up he said,
I went to U of h At first I thought
he meant HU Houston, which would have been perfect with
because he was talking to you know, you got the
Duke and the night before Houston had just beat Duke.
But I think he met University for Hawaii. But that
would have been awesome if their character, not even knowing
they had written that end of the script with the
final four results.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
If he had been at Houston, it's gonna have the call.
Who we got channing, Daniel, Daniel, go ahead, Daniel.
Speaker 13 (20:20):
Well, I was gonna do what Drew just said, he
spoiling my party.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
You still say it, go ahead?
Speaker 13 (20:27):
That's okay. I thought it was you of h too.
You know, nobody ever said anything that the duke shirt
and then the U of h stuff, and nobody said anything.
But I thought it was kind of ironic myself. So
that's about it.
Speaker 6 (20:40):
Yeah, the day after uh, they sent Cooper flag home
with that miraculous comeback. It's it's it's almost like White
looted White Lotus knew the incidents. Next episode, we'll still
say it was Houston because he never clarified it's probably Hawaii. Uh,
but we'll call it Houston, just to give Mike White
a little credit for his writing there.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
We do need to point out that tonight is the
w NBA draft and Georgia Amore will be top ten
when she go.
Speaker 6 (21:06):
Highway top ten. She's kind of the Marx have her
kind of nine and ten, so she's right there on
the fringe, but she's invited to the green room. She'll
be a lottery pick certainly maybe top ten, and wherever
she ends up, I am absolutely buying some george A
moregear after she was so fun on KSR both appearances.
She was so funny in addition to being awesome at basketball.
(21:28):
She's probably my favorite to come through the women's basketball program,
and I've liked a lot, so I'll be honest. I
don't track the WNBA a lot. Can't tell you a
lot about it. I'm like many people. I've seen more
of it in the last few years than I had before.
But I will be keeping up with Georgia wherever she goes.
I'll be a big fan.
Speaker 14 (21:45):
Well.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
UK women's basketball program owes her a lot of gratitude
because she came with Kenny Brooks and kind of help
reignite the program, and then of course she became a
superstar this season. If she at that little floater had
gone in against Kansas State and they advanced, I mean,
she would forever be remembered for that shot, but it
is I just wanted that to go for so bad.
Speaker 6 (22:06):
Yeah, And I'll also be watching my first career WNBA
draft tonight. I do want to see what happens. Like
I said, I'm excited for I haven't watched any in
the past, for being honest, but you know that sports
keeps getting bigger and bigger, and now you put in
another cat in there. It's been fun watching Ryan Howard
in Atlanta from a distance. Now wherever Georgia ends up
and Mario he's not in his head back here. They've
(22:26):
got her projected to La. You're a Lakers guy, she
might be a spark.
Speaker 1 (22:31):

Here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
You know when Shannon and I were holding hands walking
down the beach in the sunlight in Florida, people kept
staring at us, and I wondered why they were staring
at really because of me? Because I had on that
Florida UK Hawaii flowerty shirt.
Speaker 6 (23:42):
It's a good shirt.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Shannon was shirtless and sunburn, but you had on a

Speaker 1 (24:44):
We got to talk about this. What's going on down
at the R Friends in Knoxville, Tennessee. Quarterback I'm a lieva,
I'm a leaving. I'm leaving. I'm in Miami, So let
me let me see if I know the story, right, Drew.
He originally agreed to an nil deal of allegedly two
(25:04):
million a year for four years, eight million dollars. Allegedly.
After spring practice, he decides he's going to go in
and negotiate. He wants more money what's.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Four millions not enough?
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Four million a year? Yeah, Tennessee. To their credit, Josh
Hipel says, bye, we ain't giving you that. What do
you make of it?
Speaker 6 (25:29):
One, it's hilarious as it's NESC hater. I was at
the spring showcase in the press box eating some nice
donuts from UK. Those were good donuts UK, thank you.
When the news dropped, Nick Rausch had an evil villain
laugh that you could hear throughout the stadium. He thought
it was so funny. I can still hear it ringing
in my ears because it was funny. It is the
last day of spring practice in college football and your
(25:51):
quarterback that you've been counting on to be the face
in future of the program for a couple of years
now just decides he wants to leave after everything is
pretty much said, and he's doing it for money. And
he really didn't even have that special of a year
last year. He had some laughable moments.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
He looked good at times, looked bad at times.
Speaker 6 (26:09):
Yeah, but when it really mattered, when the lights were
the brightest, he did not perform for a guy that's
commanding as much money he is, So I thought it
was it was hilarious. I love everything about it. I
love the position they're in. But you're right about Hypel.
This Nil is already a little out of control. If
you got a guy trying to renegotiate during the last
(26:29):
Saturday of spring ball when everything is set, I think
it is you do have to do what Hypel did
and say no, I'm sorry, we cannot cave into this.
You've made your agreement, you've been through practice, you played
a season with us. Your deal is your deal. We
are not renegotiating right now at this stage in the year.
So I think Hypel made the right move, even though
(26:52):
I love everything about it.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Shannon, Well, is this any surprise that the guy's trying
to negotiate more money? But I agree with three it's
wrong timing. Like, you know, there's a time and place
for everything, and right after spring you know, your spring
football practice, that's the wrong time to do it. I
think it really makes a bad impression on your teammates.
(27:15):
You know the guy's only here for money. But it
doesn't surprise me that it's happening. And until they put
guardrails on Nil, it's going to continue to happen. Maybe
not to this extreme, but you know, they've got to
somehow pull this whole thing back in because it's completely
out of control.
Speaker 6 (27:32):
He's not even worth close to that.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
No, exactly. No. So here's a couple questions. One, I
hate the fact that I got to support Tennessee, but
I fully support Josh hype on Tennessee in this because
if they did this, if they back down, who's not
to say the running back was going to do the
same thing. The wide receiver is next in line, the
starting middle linebackers, They're like, okay, yeah, we want to
renegotiate all of our deals, and we all we all
(27:54):
want more money. Is there anybody out there that would
give this kid that much money? The schools that can
do it are slim to begin with. There's only like
maybe a dozen schools that have that kind of money
to begin with. Does anybody fork up and give it?
Speaker 14 (28:07):
You?
Speaker 2 (28:08):
So, what happens when nobody does? Than what? He just
backed himself into a corner and he's gonna end up
having to go play somewhere else for less money maybe
than what he originally had.
Speaker 6 (28:18):
Somebody probably will Oregon's been mentioned. I think he has
a brother at UCLA. Somebody will do it. But I
think he heard Val hurt his value even more by
showing what kind of person he is, Like, yeah, he
is in your locker room, he's been there for two seasons,
goes through all of spring, and then he wants to
shop around. I think that that does even more damage
to his value. I would love for him to end
up nowhere. That would be hilarious.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
I could see somebody like Colorado, yeahon making a move
to get him as part of their big circus that
got going on out there.
Speaker 6 (28:47):
But they trust a mid major?
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Can you trust him?
Speaker 11 (28:49):
Though?
Speaker 2 (28:49):
You know you agree to one number, then that's not
good enough. You know, can you trust a guy like that?
I don't think he can.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Well, he could be like you know, Calzaana, our quarterback
came from Harnett word. Maybe this guy I'm gonna Leva
has to play at someplace like that and try to
go make the next jump after that.
Speaker 6 (29:06):
I hope he gets two hundred thousand somewhere at INTERNCN
word incarnate word. Uh, Tennessee, they have a couple of
guys that HiPE was doing the coach speak. You know,
we'll just go to them. Football has a portal about
to reopen where you guys can move around. That's what
Nico's doing. Tennessee's probably gonna go pluck somebody from it.
Can't be in the SEC. You can't transfer across the SEC.
(29:27):
But I'd be watching for a quarterback somewhere. If you
see a quarterback randomly enter the portal after going through
spring practice, Tennessee, will We'll pay good money for someone
right now?
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Eight five nine two two two eight seven. Let's go
back to our phone lines. Who we got Shannon Nicky? NICKI,
go ahead, Nicki.
Speaker 16 (29:44):
Hey, Ryan Nicky Kewbank. So I just went by and
picked him up at the y and he tells me
that you all had been playing pick a ball, and
I'm so excited.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Yeah, Shannon has hand led me into the wild world
of pickleball. We were on vacation.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
You're welcome.
Speaker 16 (30:03):
That is wonderful. Well, I play every day and I
would love to play. Have you guys come over to
Cross Woods Baptist Church. I'll play over there. It's a
while Monday, Wednesdays and Thursdays from eight thirty to eleven,
but I know you're on the show, but anytime you
want to play, I'd love to play with you guys.
It's a great exercise and I'm so excited for you
(30:26):
all and we just love listening to a show.
Speaker 14 (30:31):
We really thank you.
Speaker 16 (30:32):
Ready for the next remote though, Yeah, we're for another remote.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
Looking forward to see you back out on our remotes again.
So tell the good doctor we said hello, and we'll
see it at the next remote.
Speaker 16 (30:40):
I sure will thank you so much. I'll have a
blessed day.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Thank you y'all. We'll get back in after Matt gets
back and they'll kind of fire some up some Friday remotes.
I haven't seen a schedule. I don't know when they
were going to restart again.
Speaker 6 (30:51):
I actually had to ask for it just last week
and someone emailed it to me. So give me a
couple of minutes to track that down and I can
actually tell you but on the on the Pickleball and
if we do so, me and you versus the pre
show and Mario's there filming it, or if Mario wants
to hop in and play you think mattal cave if
the whole show but Matt is doing it, or is
he that firm and hating pickleball?
Speaker 1 (31:11):
And I've told him Att this before. He would probably
like it because he likes ping pong. He likes tennis.
It kind of combines the two. It's fast, you know,
boom boom boom boom point. I think I really think
he would like it if he ever broke down and
decided to play.
Speaker 6 (31:25):
He's been stubborn at this point though. I don't know
if okave pickleball is a pickleball, Paul. I think he's
ruined any chances of it for Matt. But I'm excited
to get out there.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Eight five nine two eto two tweets up. By the way,
that was our whiskey thief call today. That was too
good of a call not to give it that, So
we'll we'll see her, Miss Eubanks back at our next remote.
We got to talk real quick before we get out
of here about the UK baseball. They played Texas this
past weekend. Texas won the series two games to one.
But it's what happened Saturday night I want to talk about.
(31:54):
It went fifteen innings and the winning score Shannon was
scored When Kentucky had a guy on for they squared
a bunt. They're moving him over to second. Catcher jumps
out from behind on plate, throws the first base. Bad
throw goes all the way down the right field line,
and the winning run scored all the way from first
base on a throwing air off of sacrifice. Butnt that's
(32:15):
good in its own But in the sixth inning of
that game, if you haven't seen the video, Nick Minjion
lost his marbles and got kicked out in the sixth
inning and the game went fifteen So what's he do
for the next nine innings? For the next two hours
back in the locker.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Room, get a shower, watch the game on TV, you know,
clean up.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
Watch them wash some jerseys, sweep the floor. I mean
he had to sit back there in the locker room
for like two hours waiting on this game to end.
That went fifteen innings.
Speaker 6 (32:50):
Yeah, I wasn't watching live, but I guess it was
a horrible call that led to the ejection. Guess they're
saying Kentucky batter leaned.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
In when he didn't.
Speaker 6 (32:59):
Yeah, yeah, So, I mean it was cool seeing passionate Minjeon.
He hadn't been ejected in a couple of years. But
I guess I guess you just go back and enjoy
that nice facility they have over Kentucky.
Speaker 5 (33:09):
Proud park.
Speaker 6 (33:09):
I saw something he said, maybe he cleaned out a
locker kind of maybe insinuating, might have thrown a few things, Yeah,
he told Daniel Hager, our baseball beat writer at KSR.
Shout out Daniel Hagger follow him on Twitter. Nick Minjeon
revealed that he in the post game he cleaned out
an entire locker. I assume that means tossing some things.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
I'm surprised he cleaned out the entire locker room. You're
back there for two hours doing that, Daniel Hagger's when
posted the video, I think, yeah, saw its.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Great men go check man and she gave him, you know,
an airfold, then went back for more. Like when exprended
out that umpire went around him because the ump turned
his back, did a full sprint to the umpire circled
around him just to get back into his face. So
that had to be a bad call.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
If Minjio was that fire, I think that's why Minjeon
was so mad that the up turned his back on't
even walked away, Yeah, while they were still having their conversation.
But yeah, fifteen innings and you're back there for two hours.
I guess listening to Darren Hedrick on the radio down
there in the in the locker room. But by the way,
their locker room is as good. It's better than most
minor league ballparks.
Speaker 6 (34:09):
Oh, that place is crazy. Yea tour. It's pretty new. Yes,
they have that like underground training facility. It's like a
whole field down there, underground hitting cages. Yeah, it's amazing.
It's like it's better than most minor league ballparks.
Speaker 1 (34:21):
There's no doubt.
Speaker 6 (34:22):
I found the remote schedule.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (34:23):
I don't want to say where it is because it
says TVD, so I don't get people excited that we
have to change. But there's not one until May ninth,
after the derby. Yes, okay, so May ninth be looking
for us. All right, we'll give the location just in case.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
We'll take our last break, come back, our last segment.
Got a couple of calls, guys online will get to
Jerry and Bow from rough River. Well, that's gotta be
a good call. We'll be right back. This is taking
sports Radio. One of the greatest songs in the history
of rock and roll. Great song, Shannon the Dude. I
like it when you play on Double Q, your your
(34:57):
shift on Double Q. Play it for me every day.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
It for you this afternoon.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
Welcome back, Ryan, Drew and Shannon final segment here of
Kentucky Sports Radio on this Monday, the fourteenth, April fourteenth.
Speaker 6 (35:08):
Chan.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Who's our sponsor this segment.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
Eight five nine two two two eight seven. That's the
Clarks pumpshot phone number. Who we got channed, Let's get
to Dan Dan.
Speaker 14 (36:02):
Go ahead, Dan, Hey, guys is Dan from Rocky Mount.
Speaker 5 (36:05):
Got Dan?
Speaker 1 (36:07):
How you feeling, Dan?
Speaker 14 (36:08):
Look right now, I'm getting my fusion right now, just
left my honecologists said that I was a miracle that
my cancer has been beating back.
Speaker 6 (36:19):
Awesome, That.
Speaker 14 (36:21):
It is awesome, man, it.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Is very good. Prayers Dan, Yep, yeah, thank you.
Speaker 14 (36:28):
Look, Uh, I got a football question for you too.
Speaker 7 (36:33):
What I understand is listening to you guys, listen, our
line is gonna be much better next year. Our linebackers
are going to be uh pretty good, and it looks
like our receivers are gonna be good. We're gonna take
up a flat where you know we lost cultural receiver.
Who is going to meet the corner back?
Speaker 14 (36:50):
Who do you all think?
Speaker 1 (36:52):
All right? Dan, good to hear from me, and keep
keep fighting a good fight down there. Brother. We're all
praying for you. So thank you, Dan, So I got
I ask you that earlier drewid Calzada's job and Cutter's
number two? You think going into fall camp.
Speaker 6 (37:04):
Yeah, Cutter is the best backup because like he's had
in a long time, and maybe he makes a huge
jump in the fall and takes it. But it seems
the way they're talking and the reason they brought Calzada
in is his seven years of experience, and then Cutter
will be next year. Us Kalzot has an eighth year
that he could pull that off. But you know, if
you're if you're setting nods, Calzada is the heavy favorite
(37:24):
to be QB one, But that's that's not a slighted Cutter.
He looked pretty good at what we've seen of him.
That's the best QB two I can remember here, and
I think he'll be the guy next season.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
I think there's a little more pressure on Calzada than
there should be because Brock Vandergriff just didn't work for
us last year, who was hurt, kind of struggled. Year
before that, Devin Leary was kind of hurt, kind of struggled.
They need they need a good bounce back year from
a transferred quarterback, and Calzada seems to be the guy.
Speaker 6 (37:52):
You mentioned Brock Vandergriff. Uh, I immediately I'm in a
couple of Tennessee group techs. Unfortunately, I've mentioned that before.
I have fay too many friends that wear the orange.
I got to break the I am a Leva news
to them. They were all just enjoying their peaceful Saturday
mornings with their coffee. So I got to put that
in a group chat. And one of them even said,
do we need to call Brock Vandergriff. So that's where
they are now. Brock vander Griff is happily retired and
(38:14):
fishing and hunting somewhere in Georgia. That's right, Maybe Tennessee
gives him a call. But you're right about Calzada, and
they're due to take a step forward to that position.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
They are overdue. Who's next year healthy?
Speaker 2 (38:25):
Let's go to Jerry.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Jerry, go ahead, Jerry, Hey.
Speaker 11 (38:30):
Roy, and you guys missed. The sweetest thing about the
Aminta lev thing is that busting the and il roles
and use and doing the tampering and using his to recruit.
That all started with Nico. Don't you remember that summer
where Mark Stoops's head was exploding because Mitch was making
follow the rules and Tennessee was out there busting every
nil rule. And then when the NCAA finally gets around
(38:51):
and forced the rules and they get caught. They went
down and got a homer judge East Tennessee to throw
all the NIOL rules so they could keep him because
the NCAA was going to make him ineligible. And then
right about that, Jerry, and that is why this is
just so sweet to watch this happen to them, because
they created this monster with him. They deserve everything they're
(39:14):
getting and they're ugly and I hate him, and you know,
this is just so funny. And then and the only
thing that was better was listening to the Master the
Hio State game. That Va Cilio show listened to Wine
and Cry because Ohio State sent thirty million dollars on
their roster. Well, boooo, you went out and go all
the rules storing out you got one old billionaire. Ohigo
State's got more money than God. In Texas, twenty old
(39:37):
billionaires will win at Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
You suck Jerry with another A call today, A call
today right there. That was good. That was just lett
him realim cook, he was cooking right there like that.
He's right wrong.
Speaker 6 (39:50):
They were bragging about getting him what they paid try
and they were just almost openly talking about how they
cheated to get and paying him so much money. Look
what we did, Look what happened with that? Backfired quickly.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
Another call, Shannon, who we got Let's go to bow
from rough River? Bow from rough River. It's better be
a good one. Go ahead bow.
Speaker 9 (40:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (40:07):
Just since Matt sat on his European tour. Uh, it's
a good time for you all to have your pickleball
tournament KASR Pickleball. Announce it, shave It's in three weeks.
When Matt comes back, he can deal with it.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
Appreciate it. Bo Well, Billy has already come in talking
a little smack. Once the pre show versus KSR billion,
Shannon versus you and me, Drew.
Speaker 6 (40:26):
I'm in uh, before we turn the cameras on, have
the showcase event. I would like to actually play once.
Maybe hold the paddle is a paddle or a racket
one of my words, like an overset my equipment sized
ping po get a few reps in, yeah.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
And like a whiffle ball almost. Yeah, that's kind of
the best way I could.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Just Shannon puts all this spin on it. He's he's
hitting these underhand spin serves. I think I got this
and then it hits on this rubber surface and just
you know dies, sometimes it spins takes off like I
can't hit that.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
Yeah, you could put a little English on it.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
Ryan put a lot English on it.
Speaker 6 (41:03):
I was on the tennis team my senior year. You
want to know my record?
Speaker 1 (41:05):
What was it?
Speaker 14 (41:06):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (41:07):
Oh, because on the first day of the first match
I sprained my ankle playing basketball in Pe that day.
So even though I was on the roster, had the uniform,
I absolutely shattered my ankle the day of our first year.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
Did never ever got a chance to play?
Speaker 6 (41:20):
I mean I put in all the work, put in
all the work in the pre in the preseason, the offseason,
and just never got to play. Who knows I could
have gone on to Wimbledon.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
Uh, we got time to squeeze on Robbie here real quick,
let's do it the Robbie. You're the last call of
the day. What do you got, Robbie?
Speaker 10 (41:35):
Oh yes, guys. I just wondered with the caddy and
lewis baking meeting. Did we have anybody as Pope looking
at anybody for the back at point guard? We need
we need another point guard.
Speaker 1 (41:49):
Uh appreciate that. Yeah, we talked about that earlier, you know,
with the kid we got from pi'll be our main
point guard. But then you got Colin Chandler, Travis Perry
and Jasper Johnson in oh way. I think the combination
of those four guy somebody's gonna have to end up
playing back up point guard.
Speaker 6 (42:02):
And Pope's probably had some names on a board he's called.
But right now they seem to be all in on
Wilkerson and that that makes thirteen there. I mean, they
could add somebody in that spot, because I agree they
they missed some ball handling with the Kayden Lewis being out.
He was supposed to be the future after Low, So
it's a weird spot. But I think shooting is a
little more important than a point guard that'll play ten
to twelve minutes a game.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
So we are back at Chaos Bar and Grill tomorrow, right,
that's right. Then we'll be in studio on Wednesday, and
then back at Chaos Bar and Grill on Thursday and Friday.
As one more week without Matt. Mat'll be back a
week from today. Yep, everybody come to the bar in
the morning. Ryan's new tan. I may take my shirt
off and show him all around ten. Let's not like
Walt Goggins has been doing on JIMS, and they'll do
(42:42):
it for Connect Sports Radio. We'll see again tomorrow. Goodbye,
