(00:00):
All right, let's go to workthree hours Red Rogan Jonas knoxing today for
Rodney on a five to seventy LASports. We're giving away the Boughton Blue.
We're doing that between now and threeo'clock. A great trip. Two
night's day. Would love you towin it. Best hotel on the strip
in Vegas, now, very best. You'll have a chance to go.
Everybody wants it. Like I said, one person's going to get it,

(00:22):
and hopefully that one person today willbe you. Dylan Hernandez joins us in
the next segment. He's always gotsomething to say and usually wants to blow
somebody up. One o'clock. Thenew coach of the King's Jimmy Hiller,
who was the intrum coach and nowhe is the coach. Added two o'clock
Vinnie bon signor Okay Jonas. Lastnight Dodger shot out six nothing and otha

(00:44):
right with runners in the scoring position. The offense continues to struggle. Now
let me just say this. Iknow there's a concern. Oh my god,
they're not hitting. What are wegonna do so far this year?
If we went back and just playedshows since the beginning of the season,
this is a conversation we've had aboutthree times. And if we go back
to last year's shows, and youcould pull any date during the Dodger season

(01:07):
last year, there's a possibility wewould have had this conversation, Oh my
god, they're not hitting well. What does this mean to me? It
means absolutely nothing, quite honestly nothing. You got a long way to go
here, get to the playoffs, and then you need to hit. Of
course, you do need to hitwell enough now to ensure you win the

(01:27):
division. I don't think that's goingto be an issue be hitting in the
playoffs. Don't start well. Ifyou look at the guy, he's hitting
seventh. That's the problem. Oh, top of the order's not hitting.
Freddie Freeman struggling. Oh my god, we're in trouble. No one's in
trouble. There is nobody in trouble. Yes they'd like to be playing better,
Yes they'd like to hit. Buton that recently completed road trip they

(01:49):
did hit right and everything was fine. Now they get tagged a little bit,
everything's not fine. But you knowwho got them. You know what
was don't you? Diamondbacks? Ohyou remember what happened to him? Sirpents
Fred, the sir Pient's got him. You know what that means. We
we've got PTSD. We we've seenthis movie. We know how it ends.

(02:12):
Oh my god, Relax, everybody, relax. Yeah, you want
to win. Of course they didn't. They didn't hit. That's it the
end. I see no issues, jonas well. I mean, big picture,
I would agree with you. That'smy big you know thing. The
entire year is. Look, wecan get caught up in the weeds and

(02:34):
caught up in the details game bygame ago, well what about this,
and so and so did this, and you know, this guy's two for
his last ten with runners in scoringposition, and we can get caught up
in all that. All we want. The team's going to the playoffs,
the team's gonna win the division, the team's going to be in contention to
win a World Series. And thenonce you get there, it's a crap
shoot. As we've seen, weirdthings can happen, bad things can happen.

(02:59):
And if you want to have PTSDabout all that, you can have
PTSD about all that. That's fine. But I'll take my chances with that
lineup and that staff that continues tolisten Walker Bueller's getting healthier. I'll take
my chances with what the roster isin the postseason and then go from there.
But if we're gonna get caught upin the weeds and we're gonna focus

(03:20):
specifically on the here and the now, this loss and these last two losses
against the Serpientes, losing two ofthree to that team in the regular season
for the first time at Dodger Stadium, losing a series to them for the
first time at Dodger Stadium in theregular season since twenty eighteen. One hundred

(03:40):
percent. And if I could goone hundred and five or one hundred ten
percent, one hundred and ten percenton the one and only Fred Rogan.
And let me tell you why youever done this, Fred, Where you
do something nice for somebody, Youbring them home something, it could be
a gift, You make them dinner, you do something really and you are
excited, you're thrilled, thinking, you know what, they're gonna love this,

(04:03):
and then they come yeah, andthen they come home and they look
at you like you just electrocuted theirdog. Not pleased, not impressed,
And it kind of kills your mood. It kind of kills your joy.
It makes you not really interested inwanting to do nice things for him,

(04:24):
and you look back and you know, what a waste of time. I
made this dinner, I did thisthing, I bought this nice gift.
I thought you would appreciate it,and instead all you did was crap all
over it. Have you ever feltlike that in your life? Has that
ever happened? No? Okay, well the Dodgers feel like that right now.
And you want to know why, because, in front of fifty three
thousand people over the weekend show,Heyo Tani with one of the greatest walk

(04:47):
off hits in the history of thefranchise, right up there, right up
there with Kirk Gibson in the WorldSeries, you know, all right,
and you came again, and whatwas it? It was a and RBI
single. No, I mean itwas a double, right, Well,
they all scored the same it scoredthe winning run. No, but it
was a triple just off the topof the wall, right, Fred,

(05:11):
It was a game winning hit.It was and this is what was the
yes, and this is what I'mtalking about. They do that in front
of that crowd. Everybody's excited aboutit. Everybody is happy and thrilled and
looking forward to what your reaction isgoing to be the next day, and
you know what you do, youcraft all over it. What do you

(05:31):
mean? So why would they beenticed to want to come out and perform
against the Serpientes, a team fromthe area that you grew up in.
Why would they want to be enticedto perform well against them when they can't
even get the proper thank you andrespect they deserve after they did something nice
for you and hit one of thegreatest walk off hits in the history of

(05:54):
the organization and the sport, andyou came on the next day and you
defecated all over it. And Isaid at the time, you gotta be
ashamed of yourself. They were hurt, they were distraught, and that's that
losses on you, and two ofthree to the Diamondbacks, losing in that
fashion, that's on you, okay. So it's on me because when shoe

(06:15):
Heyotani delivered his walk off single RBIA single, I would use the word
epic before walk off epic Walkoff's RBIsingle. I would do something like that,
okay, and I would look atit more like you know what he
got the single at the proper time, knocked in the game winning run.

(06:39):
The Dodgers win. He did nothit the ball over the top of the
hillis go sign? He did notdrive the ball over the center field wall.
Uh, he singled. And asI read about it afterwards, boy,
not only did he single, heripped that ball. The guy.

(07:00):
It's an RBI single to win agame. It's great, But I don't
think it was a monumental moment. And everybody seemed to think. And by
the way, if Chris Taylor haddone that, no one would have said.
If he had delivered the exact sametype of hit, no one would

(07:21):
have said, my god, thisthing is epic. Wow, Wow,
I get this is a moment we'llnever forget. Great. He got an
RBI single to win a game.He didn't hear a Grand Slam home run.
And that was my point. Apoint also, I might add,
was that he's done that before. You might not seen it because he was

(07:45):
in Anaheim, he was in witnessprotection. But he's done it before.
So it was an RBI single. And I think by just being honest,
I did not affect the long termplay the Dodgers. I think they respect
and find the honesty, refreshing Fred. Yeah, had he hit the ball

(08:09):
okay over the Jalisco sign? Yeah, as you point out, which,
by the way, shout outs toour friends listening on the iHeartRadio app in
Jalisco, Mexico. You know somein law relatives are there. Want to
give a shout out to them.Had he hit the ball over the Jalisco
sign or not, it was stilla game winning hit. What did you
want him to do? Hit theball off of P twenty two's casket just

(08:35):
so we could have a lead forthe next day and talk about how that
really combined both worlds Tree Huggers,Peta and the Otani fans and Dodger fans.
Is that what you wanted? Likeit had to be that sort of
a hit, It scored a gamewinning run and it did so in front
of fifty three grand Yeah, andyou dumped all over it the next day.

(08:56):
And that's the problem. They're notmotivating. You think of all the
series for Tyler Glass now to havehis first bock in four or five years,
whatever it was, You think it'scoincidence it just happened to be this
series. No, it was thisseries because morale is down in the clubhouse
because they can't get a fair shakefrom you when you come on the air

(09:18):
and you tell them, nice accomplishment, Cool, Otani, you gotta walk
off hit. It's your first onesince the nineteen thirties. But big whoop
here. Not in this town. We're used to majestic things in this town.
We're used to the good stuff inthis town. We're used to the
fact that, you know, whenfree agents are considering coming here, they

(09:39):
choose elsewhere, like Greg Monroe pickingthe Bucks over the Lakers years ago.
We're too good to celebrate those smallmoments. Those small moments lead to big
futures. And now I'm starting toquestion what the future is going to look
like if they can't get a fairshake from Fred Rogan, who should be
the voice of reason in this town, one of the all time greats in
the town, and instead David Vassy'sclaim that you're jealous of Otani's success is

(10:07):
starting to hold up a little bitin court here. I'm just saying,
first of all, would you pleaseaddress Otani the proper way Otani son,
ok okay, listen, and againI would except I'm not sure how to
approach anything with this team because I'mafraid I'm gonna get crapped on too.
And I'd like to apologize for usingP. Twenty two's casket as a point

(10:31):
to be made here during the openingof this show. You know what,
that actually I thought carried it alittle far. I thought that was a
little much. Oh, but theJalisco sign was okay, when you know
my in laws are from Alisco. That was a direct shot. That was
a direct shot, and I don'tappreciate it. Okay. I was not
trying to take a shot at yourin laws, and they really are,

(10:52):
by the way, that's funny. That's funny. I was not trying to
take a shot at your in laws. Of just pointing out that the single
he delivered would not be considered epic. That's all I'm saying. I think
we considered according to you, well, I think we kind of we kind
of blew that out of proportion. It was a good walk off win.

(11:13):
But it was not Kirk Gibson's homerun, that's correct. That's a very
good way to look at it.It was not Rick Monday homering for the
Dodgers in Montreal. It was notthat I think we can agree with that.
It was not Fernando Mania. No, it wasn't quite that, So
I don't think it goes into theepic Oh my god. Wow. And

(11:35):
that's the only point I was makingthe other day. Yes, he got
the game winning hit, and nowwe wish you'd get one in the following
two games because they just couldn't hit. And again, I know, it's
the lineup, it's the decisions,Freddy Freeman struggling, go down the laundry
list of stuff. Bottom line is, it doesn't matter as long as they

(11:58):
win the division. They need tobe hot in October and it's just gonna
you get in and like I said, you get into the playoffs. It's
a crap shoot. Like nobody hadthem losing the last two years the way
they did. Nobody had them losingto the Padres. Nobody had them losing
the to the Serpientes. Nobody hadthat. You just you get to that
point. I'm saying, we shouldreally appreciate the moments while they're here,

(12:24):
because this is one of the greatestlineups in the history of baseball. It
could be one of the best teamsthis organization has ever put together and fielded,
and I think we should celebrate it. I think we should celebrate the
moments. I think we should celebratethem for all what they're worth. And
that was a game winning hit byShoheyo Tani. And they've had great times
and great moments and memories are beingmade at Chavez Ravine all the time.

(12:48):
Petros Papadakis, who won't leave hishouse, he wouldn't leave his house if
a Bob Marley concert was in thebackyard. He wouldn't leave his house.
Except he left his house to gowatch a Dodger game recently. That ought
to tell you something that there's somethingmagical happening there and everybody's on board,

(13:09):
and everybody is loving what's going onexcept for you. And that's true.
And I think you're killing morale notonly of the locker room of the clubhouse.
I think you're killing morale at thestadium. I think you're killing morale
of our friends at you know, listening at a leist go my in law
specifically, I think you're killing themorale of the people who dug the grave

(13:31):
to put P. Twenty two's casketin. And I think you're killing the
morale of everybody at the studio.Kevin Ronnie Dave Weize is disgusted. He
won't even come in. I've beencalling for Dave Weis to come into the
studio door here for a while thathe won't even come near us. Brian
Blackmore doesn't want any part of this. Don Martin's not returning my calls,
apparently guilt by association. The wholething has really caused a problem and a

(13:54):
rift within the studio and within thesurrounding parts of the studio, and I
just don't know what to do well. I can approach it like this.
I'd like to welcome on producer KevinFigures, father of Big Baby Oh Kevin.
Fred has anything Jonas said? Anyof it? Is any of it

(14:16):
true? I can't get firm ordeny what Jonahs is saying, whether it's
true or not, I'll deplete thefifth and the most important thing there is
that he can't deny it. I'dlike to welcome on musical coordinator and technical
producer Ronnie Fossio Mony. Good afternoonto you, Good afternoon to you too.
Fred has anything? How are you? How are you? Thank you

(14:39):
for joining the show. Don't talkto don't talk to? Jonas? Has
anything Jonas said in the last fiveminutes been true yes or no? Well
according to whom Fred, according toyou, according to me? Yeah?
Is that true? Sure? True? Yeah? Why not? Yeah?

(15:01):
What do you mean? Guy?Why not you? What do you mean?
You ask me a question? Fred? And I told you, and
now you're questioning my answer and again, and Ronnie, I want to apologize
and I hate to jump in here. Fred, Now you're attacking people and
this is not going to get usanywhere just because I don't side with Fred.
We got to get out of thisslump and go win some games in

(15:22):
that awful Chili Bowl that is Skylinein Cincinnati, right like. We got
to focus on what's ahead and stopfocusing on the negativity. And all Fred
wants to do is continue to swimdown that path. Can't do it.
I'm not swimming down the path.I'll tell you something. And if this
goes on much longer, I'm goingto call my attorney because at this point

(15:46):
in time, I must be honest. I am suffering a personal injury and
I want to talk about it rightnow. Accident over injury. Called Jacob
and MONI call Jacob. Yeah,I'll call our friend Jacob. I don't
care he wanted to share this typicalsituation. You get in what you think
is a minor car accident. Youget out of the car and talk with

(16:07):
a person. They say they zonedout and didn't see it. It's obvious
the accident was the other person's fault. Your car has damage, but it
can be driven, so you takepictures, you exchange information, and then
after waiting a week or two,you get a hold of the other driver
and they say it was your fault. Well, your back is hurt more
every day since the accident, butnow it'll be difficult to prove when you
got injured. Don't put yourself inthis situation immediately after an accident. There's

(16:30):
one name to remember. You knowwhat it is. Jacob. Jacob.
Jacob Jacob will work hard on yourbehalf so you can concentrate on getting healthy,
handling all the frustrating paperwork, andreceiving the compensation you deserve. A
lot of attorneys say they'll fight foryou, and if this goes on much
longer, he'll be fighting for mebecause Jacob will win for you. Call
him at eight four four twenty fourJacob eight four to four to twenty four

(16:51):
Jacob or visitor called Jacob dot Com. Call Jacob Okay, the Prince of
Positivity and Happiness. Dylan Hernadis willjoin the show next. He's always got
something to say. Just pitch fourto ten. Listen to every play of
every Dodger game on AM five seventyLA Sports Live from the Gallpin Motors Broadcast
Booth, and stream all games inHD on the iHeartRadio app. The keyword

(17:12):
is A five to seventy LA SportsAll Right, Jonas Nxon today for Rodney.
I believe Rodney's on the East Coastif memory serves correct, Uh,
prepping and getting ready for the nextversion of Queen's Court, right, he
it's a very busy week. Imean, you know, he's a star.

(17:37):
What do you expect? No,this is you know, I mean,
have you but does it bother you? Like when he gets to hang
out with you know, celebrities likeHollywood, like do things that are just
way above and beyond you know sportsradio? Yeah, Like, does it
bother you that you're nowhere to beseen with him doing all this or are
you kind of past that point inyour life? No, it pisses me

(17:59):
off. Yeah, I would say, you know, it's very hard.
Yeah, you know. I meanit used to be back in the day
that you would get invited to gosee adult movies inside an actual theater,
as you've talked about on this show, sitting right next to the star of
the movie, as you know, they're practicing there, you know, under
center quarterback snaps in the movie. And nowadays it's like Rodney gets to go,

(18:23):
but like you know, you're notgetting the invites. I just didn't
know how that sat with you.Maybe that that was part of the reason
why the negativity was at such alevel that it was. I don't know
why you had to rub that in. I'm just asking. I'm I'm not
rubbing at all. I'm not invited. I'm just asking. Yeah, yeah,
try to get to the bottom ofit. That's it. Looking for
answers upsets me. Yeah, Iapologize ripping my emotional fabric. Let's bring

(18:48):
on Dylan Hernandez now, if anything, we can rip him to shreds.
Hello, Dylan, how are you. I'm doing great. How are you
guys? We're doing well, Dylan, We're doing well. All right.
I made this point at the topof the show. You tellell me if
I'm wrong. They lost two ofthree to Arizona. They haven't been able
to hit the last couple of games. They're gonna hit. I think it's
no big deal. All they needto do is win the division and get

(19:10):
hot in October. What do youthink? Yeah, totally your side on
this one. I mean, here'sthe thing, too, right, I
Mean, they didn't hit over thisthirteen game stretch. They still went seven
and six, you know, solike that's a pretty luxurious slump if you're
going to call it that, youknow, and kind of to your point
about winning the division, you know, I think kind of one thing we've

(19:32):
seen with both San Diego and Arizona. You know, both both of those
teams took two or three from theDodgers. You know, San Diego comes
out of that series and they fallflat on their face. You know,
Arizona there's still a few games underfive hundred I think at this point,
right, and they just haven't youknow, they don't have a pitching to
kind of be consistent. And that'skind of what makes the Dodgers, I
think, so tough in the regularseason. It's just again, you know,

(19:53):
yeah, sure, you know theymight occasionally throw out a picture out
there that you might not wantch startinggame two or game I have a playoff
series, but that guy is goodenough to win you know, the middle
of the week game and in youknow, in May or whatever, and
I just think it makes it reallyhard for other teams to keep up,
you know. So yeah, I'mwith you on this. This isn't any

(20:14):
you know. And again they stillwon more games that they lost in this
two week stretch. I think yougot to feel pretty good. You know,
this is a slump. It's notthat bad a one, Dylan,
Do you buy my theory that Ithink Fred is responsible for what happened against
Arizona and losing two of three tothem for the first time in the years.
I mean, just the kind ofwhat the the moments that happened throughout
the course of the series. Glassnow on a box like just you know,

(20:37):
the bat's going cold at certain times. Because my thought was when sho
he Otani hits that walk off getsthat walkoff base hit over the weekend in
front of fifty three thousand people andeverybody's excited about it, and then the
next day on the air, Fredjust talks about it as if it was
like, you know, a guyyou know, doing an armpit fart in
the top deck and it would meantnothing, and it didn't mean any It

(21:00):
was just worthless and all this.I think it killed morale the clubhouse,
and I think they were a littlebit disheartened to come out and perform against
the Serpientes. Thus it led toa lackluster performance against the team that they've
got bad vibes again based on whathappened in the postseason last year. I
blame Fred. You know I heardthat show. Yeah, you know,
I'm all for blaming Fred. Oh, I guess we could say, yes,

(21:25):
I mean, you know, oh, the course of a long baseball
season, right, they're gonna beups and downs and no one can quite
explain it, which is why youknow you have players who won't step on
like the chalk lines at all, right, because they're just superstition. So
this is as good an explanation asany I think. So, yeah,
let's blame Fred. It's all forRed's fault. Told you Fred, every
October is Fred's fault. I'm nottaking a rap for that, Dylan.

(21:49):
Sure, I'll take that. Theystruggled against Arizona. Yes, we'll have
some jocularity I'm not taking a wrapfor October. No, that's on them.
That's all right. I want togo to the Lakers now and the
talk of JJ Reddick. When youhear that, you say, what,

(22:11):
yeah, you know, I mean, look, they're not gonna They're not
gonna position a win, right.I Mean, that's just the reality of
their situation right now is they're kindof stuck in this uh you know that.
I Mean, if it's me andI'm running this thing, and you
kind of have the people that youhave right in the positions of making decisions,
you might as well just kind ofride this Lebron thing out as long
as you can, right, becauseonce Lebron's gone, man, this is

(22:36):
going to turn into like the postKobe, you know, Between right,
Kobe's retirement and Lebron showing up justkind of everything right there was it was.
It was just like hopeless, youknow, And I think a team
that measures itself by championships just cannotbe in a place of like complete hopelessness,
you know. And like as longas Lebron changes around, right,
you know, they go on alittle three four game winning streak in the

(22:56):
middle of the season, and fansall of a sudden are kind of like,
well maybe this year, you know, and even those of us in
the media, I mean, youcan never entirely count out a team as
long as Lebron's there, you know, And in some ways you're kind of
selling the public fools gold in away. Right, it hopes it's not
like really real. But I'm notreally sure they have any choice at this

(23:17):
point, right, I don't reallythink they're in a position again, if
you know, And if if Lebronwants JJ Reddick, then I say get
them JJ Reddick. If he wantsthem to draft Brownie, I say draft
Bronnie, you know, because Ijust think, you know, the right
is right. If he happens toleave or he's not happy or whatever,
the whole thing, the whole houseof cards just kind of falls apart,

(23:37):
and I really don't see any kindof upside like alternative here. So Dylan,
is this kind of like Kobe twopoint zero, where you acquiesced to
the superstar and his final years andjust say whatever you want. It's better
to have the story and the interestand the final run then maybe trying to
take a more aggressive approach to pursuesomething with no guarantees based on how good

(24:00):
the Western Conference is. Yeah,I mean, and you know, and
the trick here obviously is that, you know, Lebron is still really really
good, right, you know,he's he's better than Kobe was at the
end. And I think Lebron doeswant to win, right if he can,
And so you know, there's kindof this weird thing of right,
he's gonna go, okay, well, yeah, you know, get rid
of more trafficks, get me,give me some helpier. And it's kind

(24:22):
of maintaining that balance without you know, mortgaging too much of the future while
kind of keeping him happy. I'mguessing drafting his kid will do that trick,
you know, getting him right, give him his coach, give him
his kid. You know, aslong as you're kind of not surrendering too
many high end draft picks down theroad, I say, just give the
guy what he wants, because again, I this doesn't really look you know,

(24:45):
I mean, you know, evenif you go past the let's say
you go past the top two guysby Lebron and Anthony Davis, just you
know, you can't you know, the Austin Reeves. You know, I
assume Russell is going to get dealtyou know how tomorrow those can't be your
second third, you know, oryour third, fourth, fifth, best
players on the team. Right,It's just not gonna kind of make you
competitive. I just think that they'reso far from competing that yeah, absolutely,

(25:07):
I say, you know, justkind of play this Lebron thing out,
because that is the best thing youhave going for you right now.
All right, What do you saywhen you hear, hey, maybe Chris
Paul be a guy they'd sign, you know, take a hometown discount,
come back here, Warriors, lethim go, he's available, Maybe the
Lakers should sign him. What doyou say to that? Uh, it's
man, they're going to be reallyold. But you know, honestly,

(25:32):
I was actually that does crossed myvides a lot. You know, I
saw the Warrior, you know, watching kind of the Warriors play. I
was thinking, you know, theLakers can use probably they could use a
guy like that, you know, and it's just going to be kind of
up to the uh right, thecoach to kind of now you bring you
get that old, they become youknow, substitution issues and stuff like that.
Whatever. But you know that's whatyou're paying a coach to do Uh

(25:53):
yeah, I could totally see thathappening. Actually, And again, you
know, if if it's thinking Lebronhad at this point, I would just
do it. Dylan, My god, Dylan, that's what the sec is
right now, Like, let's notyou know before, right, I mean
as much as people are complaining aboutLebron, like people forgot what it was

(26:15):
like before he showed up. Imean, this guy just like fell out
of the sky to them, right. It even got him. I mean,
whatever you say about that bubble titleto be a title to the title
that was that was you know, the rules that they played under that year.
He got him a title. Noneof this happens without him. I
think Lebron really kind of masks overa lot of the issues that they have.

(26:36):
And again, I think it's onething if you had kind of strong
leadership with a sense of direction andyou know what, this is who we
are, and you know, right, they don't have that here, right,
And it's really just kind of puttingone foot in front of the other,
just kind of making sure the shipdoesn't think and hey, if this
guy can you know, cover upa hole on the side of the ship,
I just say, you know, you gotta. You should probably listen

(26:59):
to him. I mean, youknow, sign Dwayne Wade, you could
recreate the banana boat and the waterfallout in front of Sofi, Like I
look, I think there's a realopportunity here. But again, you know,
Fred wants to pooh pooh everything.Dylan, I did want to ask
you about this, speaking of Sofiand the Rams when it comes to the
Matt Stafford stuff, Like Sean McVaylooked like he was exhausted having to answer

(27:19):
the questions about the contract a coupleof days ago from people you've talked to
or any anything that you know,is this a little bit more dicey than
maybe they've led on about how unhappyMatt Stafford is that the guaranteed money isn't
left on the contract, and arethey concerned that maybe they aren't going to
be able to get something done andhe's gonna have a red ass for the

(27:41):
entire year. I haven't heard that, but you know, then again,
it's also pretty early still, soyou know, there's plenty of time for
this to morph into that kind ofsituation. I mean, just based on
what I'm hearing, they're fairly certainthat this is going to happen. You
know, I think everything that theteam has signaled is kind of been in
that direction. You know, I'dbe surprised again if it didn't happen,

(28:04):
just because, right I mean,he has won them a super Bowl already,
he's still playing. Well you kindof look at it, Okay,
it's another year. You know.My guess is that it probably has to
do you know, kind of youright, well, it's not just a
matter of just Okay, we're goingto guarantee this. You probably have to
kind of move some money around andstuff like that. So you know,
my expectation is that this is goingto be done again. You know,

(28:27):
it's still early, so maybe justkind of what I'm hearing is just the
fact that people think, Okay, well, we have time to get this
done and therefore don't panic. ButI'd be surprised if this thing doesn't get
resolved, just again, just basedon even when the team is said publicly
already. I'll say this about SeanMcVay, he might be one of the
most patient head coaches ever to comein this town because I've never seen him

(28:51):
lose his cool with a member ofthe media, and they were just hammering
him about the same question with Stafford, and he just played it cool.
Appreciate the question, going to keepit in house. Appreciate the question going
to keep it in house. Itfeels like, you know, other coaches
in this town would have worn themout, Like you try that with Harbaugh,
and who the hell knows what's gonnahappen. He might go over the

(29:12):
desk and beat your ass. LikeI just I feel like Sean McVay a
little bit more measured approach that wehaven't seen a lot of here. Yeah.
Well, I think he's certainly evolved, right, I mean I have
seen him. You know, therewere times, you know, a few
years ago when he was kind ofgoing through that burnout stage where you could
see him getting a little bit testy. I really think this last year was

(29:33):
just great for him personally, right, I think you know it was you
know, I think he did alot of kind of soul searching over the
offseason. I mean he talked alot about that certainly, you know,
just kind of taking the parts ofthe job that he appreciated. You know
the fact that he went into thelast season and there really weren't like any
expectations, right, I think theover under for them to win games.

(29:55):
Last year was what like six anda half, five and a half or
something like that, you know, and they went out and actually had a
good season. I think it kindof you know, cold McVeigh like,
hey, like he's got to bethe guy, you know, who kind
of showed up right his first yearhere, you know, kind of that
high energy, positive energy guy,and then the success will kind of follow,

(30:18):
you know. And so I thinknow it's kind of he's a little
bit kind of more patient with thingsbecause I don't think you know, I
think also a part that when youhave that much success so early, the
vanity part, you know, theexpectation of who the public things you are,
all those types of things started kindof weighing on you. And I
think last year he was just kindof, hey, you know what,
let me not worry about any ofthat. Let me just kind of you

(30:41):
know, be me, and thingswill work out, because they did last
year. So yeah, you know, I think his just kind of personal
transformation over the years, you know, because he's been the one thing about
him is he is very you know, you can tell when he's not happy,
you can tell when he's upset, and just kind of watching you know,
we again, we again. It'sjust how young he was when he
first took the job, right,I mean, he's this is a young

(31:03):
man who's still kind of like learninghimself and figuring out who he is.
And obviously he's just become a father. Watching his transformation over the years,
to me, has been like themost interesting part, frankly, of this
team. Dylan, great job, thanks for coming on today. Thanks for
pointing the finger at me and blamingme for the Dodger problems. I appreciate
that. I was very kind.Thank you. Yeah, I'll remember that

(31:25):
in October when I'm writing my column. And soon they had knocked out in
the second round. I'm telling you, man, I'm not taking a ramp
for that. I'll take what youwant now. I'm not getting beat up
for October. All right, dy'an. They have a good Memorial Day weekend.
Say same to you guys. Allright, Jonas, are you are
your pipes great? There? Ayneeded me? You ever need your pipes

(31:47):
cleaned out? Listen, Fred, that sounds like a personal question. Well
yeah, and it's a personal questionfor everybody. As a homeowner, I
know how important it is to findan honest plumber. Those pipes they need
work, an honest plumber that deliversalitywork. That's why I'm thankful that I
discovered my friends at Pristine Plumbing servingOrange County clog toilet's broken water heater,

(32:07):

I've talked to them. I knowthey do it all. I get the
cleanest pipes into Luca Lake, butthen your pipe and smoke it. They

I have experience the pristine difference withPristine plumbing. First they love her,

(33:15):
Can she win? We have tofigure that out, all right.
Today's throwback Thursday edition of Afternoon Delightis Let's Hear It for the Boys by
Denise Williams. The song appears onthe singer's nineteen eighty four album with the
same name, as well as thesoundtrack for the movie Footloose. Second number
one single is the top Billboards onehundred charts for the last two weeks of

(33:35):
May that year, in addition forbeing nominated for an Academy Award for Best
Original Song, also on certified platinumin the United States while reaching gold status
in Canada. Again, Today's AfternoonDelight is Let's Hear It for the Boys
by Denise Williams. How are younot out of breath from moving to the
song? Yeah? Like you literallyyou jumped off a tractor like Kevin Bacon

(33:59):
in the movie. You're in somelike seed store doing your rendition on a
VW bug. Yeah, and likeyou open you come back and you just
like do you not out of breath? Didn't miss a beat? Just rock
and roll Man Footlots nineteen eighty four. The reason I didn't miss a beat,
obviously, is because I do alot of cardio every day. Yeah,

(34:21):
that's why it was not out ofbreath. I mean clearly. I
mean, no one's in better shapethan I am. Do you train in
Big Bear like a lot of thea lot of the boxers, which point
what I try to do seriously, when I'm in the Coachella Valley, I
try to run from Palm Springs toBig Bear up the mountain. That's the
kind of training I do for cardiovasculargood move. Yeah, I mean you

(34:42):
know it'll take you what thirty fiveminutes thirty minutes to get up the mountain
in a car, and when it'ssnowing, it'll take you an hour.
For me, I get up thatmountain running, I'd say it about forty
five minutes. I mean, doyou think Footlote was a good movie?
Yeah? It's fine, Okay,I'm just not sure looking back how great

(35:07):
it actually was. You know uponfurther review, Well, what do you
want to tear it apart for?I'm not not trying to tear it apart.
I'm just asking what I think isa fair question. Does it hold
up through time, like we're talkingforty years later, does it hold up?
And I'm just not sure that itdoes well. It apparently does since
that was the throwback Thursday Afternoon Delightsong. The song's great. I'm saying

(35:30):
the movie like the song is tremendous. The song and listen, Afternoon Delight
is always a banger, and it'susually something you pick, you know,
I mean most most often, especiallythe hip hop stuff. Well, then
we do Little Uzi D the otherday. First of all, that's low
Uzi vert and we did not.Oh I'm sorry, we did forty two
Doug and Young Nudy A Fred,Freddy Kevin. I want to apologize for

(35:53):
Fred saying Little Uzi D. Hewas projecting there, and I don't know
why I'm not I'm I'm not surewhy that morphed its way into today's edition
of Afternoon Delight. And don't forgetabout Fred's favorite kid, Cootie. Yeah.
Oh yeah, yeah, I thinkwe all remember that. I tell
you when I get up in themorning and I go through my uh you

(36:15):
know, my songs on my phonemy list. Oh yes, yes,
yeah, you know. I gothrough that and I try to pick something
really hot and hip and fresh everyday for our listeners. I want to
expose them to what's what's really happeningin music every day? And yeah,
Jonas, I put a lot ofeffort into Afternoon Delight a lot of list

(36:37):
I was impressed. You did thedance routine, you jumped on the mic.
Yeah, you open this up andhere we are here, we are
nothing, nothing hotter, hip,or or more fresh than the terms hot,
hip and fresh until four us.I'll say that. Hey, Fred,
have you ever seen Footloose? Whathave you ever seen the movie Footloot?
I believe I have you believe whatI mean? You believe you have?

(36:59):
Why you haven't? No, I'veseen it. Do you remember the
the tractor scene or you don't?I do remember the tractor scene? Yes,
what happened? Fred? Oh no, that was a tractor scene from
Seinfeld. I remember, same thing, Remember that, the same thing.
Listen, same thing, small townfarmers, Seinfeld, same old thing.

(37:22):
I got it. Sense, andyou know all the sense in the world.
Dancing in Seinfeld too, so makessense. Hey, I'll tell you
what you ever seen Julia Luis Dreyfussdance on that show as a lane,
the worst dance in the history ofTV. It was very funny. Yeah,
they danced, Okay, Well Ijust got the two things confused.
What's the difference. It's fine, end of the day. We could have

(37:44):
done Footloose today or the theme fromSeinfeld for afternoon Delight, So it doesn't
matter. Can I be on?Can I say something here that some people
are going to find astonishing. I'veseen one single episode of Seinfeld. You
have never seen one episode, oneepisodisode, and any clip that anybody has
sent me. I just don't thinkit's funny at all. I don't get

(38:05):
it. Really well, Fred doesn'teven know how to react to that.
I don't. Yeah, I don'tget it. Oh my god, that
was I thought that was a funniershow ever everyone says it. I've never
seen one episode, never had anyhue. But you are somebody that should
get it. You are somebody thatwould appreciate that. What's what he's saying
for? Am I some clown likeI'm some you know Piasso that that you

(38:30):
know, like like only comedies andthat's it. I just like there were
certain things that I watched growing upand certain things that I didn't like the
show. Uh in Living Color, great show, I would argue, I
would argue, and this again controversial. Funnier than Saturday Night Live. Oh
that's controversial. I don't think so, I'm with you. I mean,

(38:50):
I don't. I don't know,and I'll be on I don't know that
it's even close. It was alsoedgier than SNL too. It was edgier.
That was the key which made itfunnier to me. Yeah, it
was Edgar. I mean, youwant to know how loaded the cast was.
Jennifer Lopez was a dancer, couldn'teven like get a roll, couldn't
even like nothing. She was afly girl. That's how talented that cast
was. So yeah, there's justsome things that I just never had any

(39:15):
interest in, was never interested in. Seinfeld, Apparently you weren't interested in
talking about Caitlyn Clark here either. What are you talking about? Apparently you
weren't, because that's what we weregoing to talk about in this segment.
Now we're going to have to doit next hour. Listen for our WNBA
fans out there, our four allCaitlyn Clark, all the time. Yeah,

(39:35):
we'll get it in before our fourOh a reminder, you know,
we're given a night given away, the two nights date the font and Blue
Hell in Las Vegas. It's atwo night's day. We'll give it away
between now and three o'clock. It'sa great prize. You'll relax for two
nights, dine pool side at theOasis Pool Deck. That's a six acre
pool with four bars, two restaurants. You'll be there. You'll be right

(39:58):
in the midst of it. You'llbe right in the heart of it.
You'll have that opportunity. So we'regiving that away between now and three o'clock.
All right, we have to getoff and get back now because at
one o'clock we're supposed to have thecoach of the King's Jim Hiller joined the
show. Oh yeah, go Kings, go Fred. Right, So,
new King's Coach, which is actuallythe old King's Coach, Jim Hiller,

(40:21):
will join the show at one o'clock
