(00:01):
All right, let's go get tothe point. Fred Rugan Rodney Pete on
five seventy LA Sports the Big Sprint. But what hours show today? Roddam
fired up. I'm ready to go. I've got this go, let's go.
All right, we'll I'll start withthis. Listen. I don't know
what's gonna happen. Uh, ifthe earth is going to open and we're
(00:21):
all gonna fall in show held.Tony said a slump. Now, I
know it's unthinkable, it's you can'teven consider anything like this happening. You've
got to get on front. Well, he's got a bit of a hamstring,
Rodney, he's been struggling a flint. And first of all, yeah,
he's got a little hamstring. He'snot saying it, he's not complaining
about it. No one's making abig deal. But he's got it.
(00:44):
He's got it. Well, youknow, since he's superhuman, that shouldnt
affect him at all. My god, for that kind of money, you
can't have a hamstring. For thatkind of money, you can't be in
a slump, well, for anykind of money. He's a human being,
and stuff happens, and just becausehe is not ripping the cover off
the ball as he did at thebeginning of the year. It doesn't mean
(01:04):
there's any reason to look at thisand go, well, now what,
But now, what are we gonnado? Because there's nothing wrong. He's
a human being and this is wherehe's at at this time. That's it.
That's the end of it. There'sno more to it. What do
you think about that? So areyou are you hearing the noise that people
(01:32):
are going crazy because Otani's in abit of a slump, You know what
I'm hearing. Everybody goes to that. I mean, I don't understand.
Everybody goes through a slump or somethingat some point in time and in their
career and in the season. Sohe is no different. Like you said,
he's human like everybody else. So, you know, it's still only
(01:57):
barely June and the sky's falling now, is that what we're talking about?
Come? Yeah, you know,Look, he hit the ball well against
the Mets, and then he hadkind of a quiet weekend against the Rockies
one for nine, four steak house, three walks, and that's like,
uh, oh, well, whatare we gonna do nothing, We're not
gonna do anything. Everybody relaxed, just calm down. Everybody pushes this panic
(02:21):
button, and oh geez, nowwhat it gets me to thinking about what
we talked about the other day.Hey, this club's gonna need to make
some moves here before we get toOctober. You don't know what the moves
are. How do you know whatyou need to do? If you want
to go with these standard generic here'swhat we'll need. Okay, got that.
But aside from that, you can'tmake decisions now based on what's going
(02:45):
to happen in three or four months. You can't do it. It makes
no sense, no reason for panic, no reason for concern. Now they're
in Pittsburgh. Lets see how theydo against the Pirates. And then he's
too good a player. He's likeMookie Bets. You know, there was
a old big deal Mookie Bets.He went fifty games or fifty at bats
(03:07):
without a home run and then heHiT's one that lead off the game on
Sunday. Things like that happened, and I think sometimes you got to chalk
it up to sometimes people don't haveanything to talk about for it and and
their board, and they're sitting theregoing, oh my god, oh Tani
is struggling. He is absolutely strugglingright now, what are we gonna do
(03:30):
about it? And still hitting overthree hundred? You know I can well
over three hundred. Listen, youjust brought up Mookie Bats and he finally
had a home run after fifty adbats. Now, if we're to be
really honest about that, during thatperiod of time where he didn't hit a
home run, they should have dfate him. Well, he can't hit
(03:52):
anymore, that's obvious. Send hisass down right. He needs to learn
what it's like to be a majorleague here, and we're not going to
tolerate this behavior from him anymore.Damn right, We're not gonna have it.
Mookie Bats, are you kidding me? Fifty something at bats we went
out a home run? That's notyou? What are we doing? Yeah?
(04:15):
What they hell happen to you alot? Who are you? What?
We can't put up with this kindof behavior. Let me let me
say this. If Otani's in aslump right now, okay, and if
Mookie did at a home run infifty at bats, that's fine. You
know what I want Otani not tobe in a slump October. You know
what I want Mookie to be hittinghome runs October. You know, I
(04:39):
want everybody healthy October. That's whatI want. This is just the journey.
We're just going on a road trip. It's red. They can't get
to October if they don't turn thisthing around. Right now, they're in
first place. That's the other part. Hey, you better watch out because
(04:59):
you might not even get there. You're in first place. You're in first
place in the division. See everyyear, and we've lived this the last
couple of years. Won one hundredand five, one, one hundred and
eleven. My god, they couldwin one hundred and sixty two. There's
incredible. And then you just layan egg when it counts. Let's let's
not think that way. I saidthis before the season started this year,
(05:20):
Rodney, Let's not worry about thatanymore. Hey, how many games could
they win? Hey? I don'tcare personally. I only care about certain
games. Now, get to thedance, get into tournament, be in
the tournament, be hot at theright time, be healthy and hot,
and go for it. That's it. If they lose, right, if
(05:45):
they lose thirty five games in arow, Okay, now I got it.
Now we got to do something. Now we got a problem. They're
not gonna lose thirty five games ina row. So what's the problem.
What's the problem? I mean,Walker Bueler just came out and basically said,
he sucks. I mean, he'snot feeling great. He's not where
he wants to be. He doesn'tneed to be. It's fine. Yeah,
(06:05):
he's just come back. Let himwork himself back into it. He
doesn't need to. He's fine.Everybody just settled down. Otani's on a
slump, right, fine, youknow, and maybe he'll go like six
for fifteen in the series against thePirates, who knows, who knows?
(06:28):
Yeah, well, maybe he goesfourteen for sixteen. But even if he
goes two for eighteen, red,it's still okay. It's still okay because
it's June. I mean, please. The man has been hovering around three
forty three fifty the whole season, you know, so he dipped at three
twenty something. Now, oh mygoodness. I just have four guys hitting
(06:54):
two ninety and above with Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Mookie and Otani and
Tascar. Rnanda is not far behindin his stats. So the Dodgers are
fine, They're fine, They're fine. Yeah, but here, you know,
the overreactions coming though, Right,Well, they go, they go
(07:14):
and get beat bad by the Yankees, or lose a couple of games in
that series, or even lose onethat the Yankees just come out, which
the Yankees can't do well, Dodgerscan do it too. Any you know,
any good team can have one ofthose days where they just light you
up, and the Dodgers get litup in the Bronx all of a sudden,
they can't play with the big boys. Oh my god, Dodgers can't
(07:35):
hang with the tough teams around theleague, the really good teams. The
Dodgers are not equipped yet. That'sgonna be the narrative. That's what's gonna
be people on people's mouths after ifthey happen to lose. Oh my god,
they just went and played the beastof the East and the Yankees,
who are red hot. They can'tthey couldn't compete with them. They got
(07:56):
blown out. The Dodgers need todo something now. So, unless I'm
wrong, Atlanta was at Dodger Stadiumthis season, correct, I think so.
Fred very good and during that periodof time, people said, this
is by the way, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
this is a showdown Rodney. Thisis an indication of what could be at
(08:20):
the end of September. Here weare in October. This is it.
It's a preview of the National LeagueChampionship Series, right. You don't want
to look bad in that series,do you? You don't want to look
bad? No, not in thatWhat did the Dodgers do to Atlanta in
those games at Dodger Stadium? Ithink it was called a track meet,
(08:43):
Fred. They rolled them. Theyrolled them at Dodger Stadium, is what
they did. Okay, So Atlanta'sno good now, No, they're terrible,
right, And and that's an indicationof what can happen in October.
No, it's not, it's not. So no matter what happens against the
Yankees, it'd be a funding tellyou what be a great game to be
(09:05):
at at Yankee Stadium. And bythe way, it's pretty nice. It's
pretty good. Yeah, if you'venot did this. Even though I like
the old one better, the oldYankee Stadium better, this one is a
you can fit two of the oldYankee stadiums in this one. But it
is special. Now, we've hadseveral conversations you, Kevin and I on
(09:30):
on the air off the air aboutthe so called food around LA and it's
stadiums. You go to Yankee Stadium, you want to talk about food.
You've en talk about food and beverageat Yankee Stadium. Come on now,
I think they got mastros in thereat the Yankee Stadium they I mean,
the food is exceptional a Yankee Stadium. I'm just going to say that,
(09:52):
it's like Masstros. Yeah. Yeah, whatever your high end restaurant is,
whatever that could mean to you.The food at Yankee Stadium is better than
that. Yes, you know, there's the Dugout Club at Dodger Stadium.
It's great, by the way,I love it down there. Everybody dog
club. Yeah yeah, let's excludethe Dugout Club from all the other stuff.
(10:13):
Well wait, wait, wait, wait, wait wait. The dug
Out Club at Dodger Stadium is spectacular. And I know, not everything you
can go, and I know thetickets are really expensive. And if you
ever get a chance to go,go, you know, if a friend
offers your early early relax, takeyour time and enjoy it all. Yeah,
everything's included there but your drinks, alcohol, everything else is included.
(10:35):
The food is great, it's awonderful setting. Those are the seat trip
behind home plate. And I alwayssaid to myself and I told people this,
Rodney. The dug out Club atDodger Stadium by far the best.
I think it is the best valuefor any sports fan, high end in
the market. And I've said thatbefore. Lakers, Yeah, because it's
(10:56):
all inclusive. Now the Kings havechanged and it's all inclusive. If you
sit on the glass there, andthat's a pretty nice area down there.
If you ever get a chance todo this stuff. I know it's pricing,
and I know most people can't,but if you get a chance,
you should try either one of those. But Dodger Stadium is great. When
you go to Yankee Stadium, whenyou go to that dugout club, yeah,
(11:18):
that is a different experience that isunlike anything anywhere. And I think
Dodger Stadium is spectacular, but thatis another world. Look at it like
this. Let's say you like shrimp, you know, shrimp cocktail sauce,
right, or you like crab, you like crab, Like, yeah,
(11:39):
okay, you at Yankee Stadium. You walk in and it's it's gigantic.
The dugout Club is gigantic, andthere's food everywhere. If you want crab,
you go up there and say, hey, you know, I don't
like a little crab. They'll giveyou like ten crab legs. If you
want shrimp, they have gloves on. They give you like two handfuls of
(12:00):
shrimp. How much does this stuffcost? You want lobster? That's not
a problem. We got it righthere. You know, Ron am feeling
like some prime rib today. Ohyeah you are okay, come on over
here, come on over Yeah,oh you don't. You don't like me.
But what you like is sushi?Oh yeah, I love some sushi.
(12:20):
Fred you got any It's it's likegoing to the best sushi restaurant you've
ever been to. I've never seenanything like that ever. It is it
And Dodger Stadium is really good. But this is just a different level.
That food at Yankee Stadium is adifferent level. Yeah. He really takes
(12:45):
some pride into it. And you'reright, it is every dish, everything
you could pasta station is just ridiculous. I mean it. Yeah, you
don't want to leave sometimes, youknow, even you know, and again,
Dodger Stadium is great, but sometimesI just stayed them. You're like,
I'm gonna sit down and enjoy this. I don't don't mind missing the
first pitch because I'm having a goodtime down here. I'm gonna finish this
(13:07):
good meal. Yankee Stadium might notget there to the third fourth inning.
That's why you see all those seatsIndia at Yankee Stadium. To start the
games, It's like, where's everybody? Everything else is, you know,
the crowds everywhere else, but thatdugout club area behind the plate, where's
everybody? Nobody coming to the game. And then by the fourth inning and
you see it start to fill inbecause everybody's down there and enjoying themselves as
(13:28):
basically a night out at Yankee Stadium. We're going to dinner to night honey,
where are you going, Chippyrannies? Now we're going to the dugout club
at Yankee Stadium. It's unbelievable. It was kind of like, you know,
when the Rams were in the SuperBowl in Atlanta and we were both
there. You know, you wentone way, I went another, but
we were both there. When youwalked around that stadium in Atlanta, yeah,
(13:52):
let me tell you what. Youwould go into places there. I
don't think people ever went to theirseat the fright. The drinks, Yes,
the lounge atmosphere. It was thenightclub down there. Yeah, you're
right. And this was the SuperBowl and they were you know, every
time I went down it was packed, like you know, in the quarters
(14:15):
or whatever. The big timeout.I try to you know, get get
a jump on on the bathroom orwhatever. You go down in that and
it's underneath the stadium. So it'sunderneath and you go around there and you
just keep going and there's just anotherstation of food court whatever. It is
all down there. Like you said, people haven't drinks. It was a
nightclub. And I saw the samepeople that I saw before the game.
(14:39):
I saw them at the middle ofthe first quarter, and they were there
at the middle of the second quarter. They were there at halftime. They
had moved, mister super Bowl, but they didn't want to move from that
area because it was so good downthere. It's like, I'd rather be
here than be in the stands.Yeah, because it's the experience of going
to the games. See, andI'll give the Google High guys a lot
(15:00):
of credit when they looked at DodgerStadium, and let's be honest, Frank
McCourt put the Dugout Club in butthey screwed that up and half the seats
didn't face the right way and thenthey had to redo it. Right.
Well, it's true they put thoseseats in it, but they were like
at an angle and then you kindof, yeah, cricking your neck when
you're turning to watch the game.So when they got in, they said,
(15:22):
the hell, we're gonna fix it. What did they put into the
stadium? Three four hundred. Yeah, they put a lot of money into
that stadium, absolutely, and theyreally did a great job at the dugout
club. But everything, yeah, everything around it is great. Out the
outfield, what they did in thecenter field area outdoor where you can you
know, walk around the whole stadium. Now, it's a it's a beautiful
(15:43):
experience. And it's an older stadium, so there's not a whole lot that
you can kind of do without tearingthe whole thing down and building it from
scratch. But what they were ableto do to refurbish Dodger Stadium and put
the money into doing it, yougot to give a lot of credit to
the Google guys. Yeah, Imean they have lower level dugout clubs,
right, you have the dugout club. Then you have this the clubs for
(16:08):
the seats down the baseline, youhave the stadium club upstairs. You have
kind of the speakeasy they put outin center field. Now, yep,
yep, they got it all. They got it all. They got it
all. They got the you know, the Kings of Wiian Station out there
wore yeah baby, yeah, Kevin'sface. Maybe you want to go out
(16:37):
the center field just for all ofthat. Let me go on out there
and just hang out. Yeah,I'll go to the Kings of I'm with
you. I'm just like that Yankeestadiums to give me all the kings of
wine. Uh, I'm in see. That's why that will work. Oh
my goodness, that's why I wasso bitter opening day, and I was
I'm not gonna lie. You know, we campaigned, we fought, we
(16:59):
bid, we got out there andwe did the show and it was great,
by the way, Don Martin said, we killed it. Everybody loved
it. It was a great deal. But you know what, because now
he's running for the Senate, sohe's too busy, yes, or he's
got another campaign to do. Hecan't bring us our Remember those platters he
used to bring us. We're talkingabout Steve Garvey, folks, And yeah,
(17:23):
he used to bring us these bigplatters every time we were on the
field of sliders and what else itwas fries, and it was just like
everything or whatever. It was ribs, yes at all with that kings and
Winan buns and those oh the dogsand the sliders with the buns. But
he can eat the bunch without anythingin it. Yeah, and the thing
(17:45):
became and it was a look, you can complain about everything. First,
I'm going to complain that he wasn'tthere this year, but now I'm gonna
complain about what happened in the past. So he would bring them out and
they were big trays. And bythe way, he would walk right down
the field, excuse me, andeverybody everybody would see him coming. Oh,
(18:07):
he put it right on our deskright while we're doing the show.
How many friends did we have inabout a period of oh moment, god,
oh, everybody and your brother, everybody you thought of that you haven't
spoken to in a year and ahalf would come by. He Oh,
good buddy, Fred, How youdoing what you got there? Fred?
Oh? What you got there?Players stop their batting practice to come over
(18:30):
and get a little piece, geta little slider. I remember Cody stood
there for about five minutes. Comeon, you gotta go hit No,
I'm finishing my three sliders that Igot over from Fred and Rodney. No,
I'm going over here. And youknow who the biggest defender was,
And I don't know he's not intown. They're on the road because sometimes
he's driving in listening. The biggestdefender was Dave Roberts. The biggest defender
(18:56):
was Dave Roberts by far. Theywould they would camp out, they would
camp out at that you know, you kind of act like he was talking
to people by the boot and justhang out there. And then every so
often, like every every minute ortwo, he reach over. He he
got over there and I'm just gonnatake a little piece of this. Huh.
(19:18):
I'm just gonna have a little Ihave, you know, I just
have one slider. Okay, guys, thank guys. And then you see
him two minutes later, he'd beon the other side of talking to petrols
like we didn't see him. Justtake it from our side. He would
just keep eating the whole time. You're right, you're right. It would
be sauce all on the Dodger whiteuniform. I think one time he had
(19:41):
to go change because he had barbecuesauce running down in front of his jersey.
That was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. All right. We want to
thank our buddy Jacob and Ronnie forsupporting the show. That's right, Fred.
(20:04):
If you're injured at any kind ofaccident, imagine you're in an uber
or lyft sitting in the backseat drivingto your destination. Don't do it,
damn. You're injured in a caraccident. Yeah, that's not any car
accident, Rodney. It's an accidentwith an uber or a lift. It's
(20:25):
completely different than a normal wreck. That's right. Your driver is covered by
uber or lyft, So not onlyare you dealing with the other person's insurance,
you need to speak with the rightshare company's insurance as well. What
do you need, Rodney, Whatdo you need an expert? You need,
you need a you need a damnexpert. That's right, Fred,
(20:47):
our friend Jacob is the expert whenit comes to any uber and lyft accidents.
Years ago, though Fred Jacob andhis team took on these cases before
any other attorneys. Jacobin understands allthe nuances involved in thesearticular accident. So
if you're injured at any type ofrights here accident, immediately call Jacob.
Yeah, when you're calling attorney, you want to one who's respected. So
(21:10):
call Jacob. He's the real deal. Call him eight four four twenty four
Jacob eight four four twenty four Jacob, or visit. Call Jacob dot com
and make sure you're following. CallJacob on Instagram, gonna add call dot
Jacob for great advice, prizes andmore. Hey me too, look at
(21:32):
me. I'm over here. Whatare you saying? Talk about her?
It's about me. You're not givingme any credit. It's a it's all
about me. All right, we'lltalk about it. Oh yeah, come
on, baby, we got wegot a little Casey in Sunshine band going
(21:53):
right now. Yeah, I puton my boogie shoes. Roddy p.
Fred get on a sprint today onehour, one hour for us today to
get it all in and we gonnado it. We're gonna do it for
it. Let's go. Yeah,we are, and it's you know,
get to the point in a onehour show. Let's get to the point.
Here's my point. I think girlsare being mean to girls. That's
(22:17):
my point. I think girls arebeing mean to girls period, and I
don't care how old they are.I think that's what. Women are more
tough on women than men are onwomen. Yeah, and I'm not talking
physically, I'm just talking about ingeneral, Like women will see you go
out and you may look at ayou know, a nice little couple,
(22:41):
and they coming out, Oh,that's a nice looking couple. Where the
women will go look at that dressshe's wearing. You see her makeup?
Her makeup is so off. Whyis she wearing her hair like that?
I mean, it is a nitpickingthing, right, And I'm not saying
all women do this, but boy, women are tough on women. They
really are, right. I mean, women have enough trouble dealing with men.
(23:04):
They don't need, they don't needtheir own sisters to start beating up
on them. But it happens, and it happens all the time. And
I think if you reduce this toits most fundamental level, that's what's going
on at the w NBA right now. It's jealousy, it's resentment. Let's
remove the well, you got toprove, you gotta, you know,
(23:25):
prove yourself and take the hits andact like you belong. No, this
is just petty. Now, it'spetty when it comes to Caitlyn Clark.
Caitlin Clark didn't do anything but walkaround and play basketball. That's what she
did. That's who she is,and people seem to like her. Is
that her fault? Did she dosomething wrong by all accounts? Well?
(23:45):
Preay, well, fred, let'snot just say that she just walked around
plays basketball. Okay. Now,Kaylyn Clark, like a lot of people
don't really know, but the peoplethat are inside know, Kaylyn Clark is
it out a little bit. KaylenClark is a blank talker. Kalyn Clark
is a Larry Larry Bird and tothe point where a lot of people didn't
(24:10):
know until other players start talking abouthow much trash talk Larry Bird would do.
But Kaylyn Clark is giving it outto folks on a regular basis.
Okay, you know, so I'msaying his nottion of her just not oh
just being a nice many goodie twoshoe, that's just going out and playing
basketball. That's not the case. No, no, but here's what I'm
saying, and I'll give you that. Okay, on the Courtsey trash talks.
(24:32):
Is it Caitlyn Clark's fault. Let'sput it like this, that the
country developed a fascination with her, giving her play in college and wants to
follow her whatever she does on thecourt. That's the reality. It's not
her own. It's not her fault. People liked watching her. It was
fun, she could light it up, that was cool. For whatever reason,
(24:53):
she caught the attention of the countryand she did. Okay, that's
not her fault. Not just whathappened. It happens to people. Sometimes
happened to her. She certainly isthe beneficiary of it. She didn't go
out and announce I'm seeking all ofthis. It happened. People just liked
her, all right, there itis. That's the story. She like
(25:18):
her, and then she was shewas She was pushed fred just like you
know, there's a there's a numberof people out there that and you know
this, you're in the media, you've been in sports, you've been in
this for a long long time. There are people out there that people that
that the media says, Okay, this is our person. We're gonna push
this person, We're gonna we're gonnaput this person out there and we're gonna
(25:40):
cover everything that they do, notthat person's fault, but sometimes people are
chosen to be that role. Andsaid and say, we're gonna put all
our eggs into this basket because wecan make she can be the face.
We want her to be the facegoing forward, and we're gonna make it
so. And on top of that, in order for it to work,
(26:03):
and last, that person's first ofall, has got to be likable.
And then secondly, that person's gotto be able to play. And she's
got both of that. And soit was a i think a conceited effort
that we're going to push this CaitlinClark thing all the way to the end.
She caught the attention to the mediatoo. She caught the attention of
the media, she caught the attentionof the country, she caught the attention
to the media. She caught theattention. It worked period, it worked.
(26:27):
Here she is now, she's draftedinto the WNBA, different league,
different division. By the way,if we're to be fair, Rodney,
you love it. You know theplayers in the league you've watched for years.
The majority of people do not, just being honest, they don't,
But you do so you can appreciateit. But what did she do when
(26:49):
she was selected, when she wentpro, when the WNBA picked her,
All of a sudden, people werewatching the WNBA. People that wouldn't watch
it are watching the WNBA, whichis a very good thing for every player
in the WNBA, a really goodthing, and ultimately it will help all
of them. Everybody will grow becauseof it. The league will become stronger,
(27:11):
financially, things will change, moresponsors will come to the table,
and it's a good thing for allExcept there seems to be this annoyance or
jealousy or resentment that she's getting thisattention and players that have been in there
for a while have not received it. And I don't care who they are,
(27:36):
from what genre, from Lisa Leslieto Tarasi, nobody's got the attention
she has. They have it,and those are really good players, Sue
Byrd, those are really good players, but nobody's had the attention she has.
It's timing, it's luck, it'sthe way things work in the world.
She's got it. So the playersnow are upset there, They're upset.
(27:59):
Why do you get this? AndI don't Why is this happening for
you? And not happening for me. I mean Angel Reese who came out
at the same time. She goes, hey, you know it's about me
too. I'm another reason they're watching. Here's the thing, and maybe it's
hard to process. No one givesa crap if you're in that league,
if you're a player in that leaguenot wanted, it should give a crap
(28:22):
why they're watching. You should carethey're watching. That's the only thing you
should care about. That it's gainingattention. If it's her, and that
attention is because of her, you'restill being seen by more people than you
would have ever been seen by.It's a good thing for you. You
(28:44):
have the opportunity now if it's possible, if you can figure it out to
break free and to break out aswell, you have that opportunity. How
you do it, I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, but
because there's more attention on the league, Rodney, that opportunity presents itself,
(29:10):
and it just everybody appreciate what's happening. Don't look at her and go,
well, she's getting all the attention. I'm getting none. Look at it
like because of her, you couldget attention and quite frankly attention you never
could have received if it hadn't beenfor her. Yeah, and I get
all that, but people are alsohuman, right, People are human?
(29:34):
And you you know, you takefor instance, you know, you take
Asia Wilson right from the Las VegasAces, two time MVP, back to
back, I believe, back toback championships with them, dominant dominant player,
(29:55):
and you know you've been, you'vebeen kind of you know, want
this motion is this groundswell of peopleto watch your league and watch you play,
and you come out and this yearand it's you understand, it's Caitlyn
Clarks. He's the biggest thing tocome out of college and women's basketball ever,
(30:18):
and every one of her games ison TV. Yet you've got maybe
one or two games on TV,and you're the defending champs and you're the
defending MVP, and you are thebest player in the league, and you're
not getting any kind of that coverage. They haven't spread it around it because
it's a frenzy for Caitlyn Clark.If you're a human, you're gonna feel
(30:40):
a certain way, not necessarily atCaitlyn Clark. And I think that's where
it kind of gets a little blurryand convoluted. There are players out there
that I think are directly resent KaitlynClark or jealous of her personally. But
I think a large part of theresentment is of the league itself and the
media for or not I guess, maybe spreading it around at all as much
(31:04):
as they think they should be.And if you are a person like Asia,
then you're gonna feel a certain way. It's like, I've been here
for five years, one to twotitles, MVP, I've done it all
and I've not been on TV onceor I've only been on TV once since
He's been on TV ten times,National TV ten times. So you're gonna
(31:25):
feel a certain way, and that'sonly natural. But I think there are
there. I think the majority ofthe of the league don't necessarily resent her
or hate her. I think it'sjust the way it's been portrayed by the
media. Okay, And and Ican appreciate that. When you were playing
in the NFL, did you getas much coverage credit recognition as other quarterbacks?
(31:53):
No? No, And know obviouslythere's a lot of factors involved.
Where you land, where team you'replaying with, if you're winning or not,
you know a lot of those factorsgoing going to uh, going to
play. You know, if you'reif you're a part of the Dallas Cowboys,
(32:14):
you got to put on TV.Whether you were ten and zero or
one in ten, you were playingon national TV. You know, And
that's just the that's just the wayit was. And you understood that being
you know, if you played forthe Cowboys or you didn't play for the
Cowboys, they got all the attention, right, that's the way. But
(32:34):
the human But but you know, you felt a certain way even you know,
because you could be rolling and youlike, you don't even have a
Monday night game. And we wentto the title game last year and and
we had a much better record, and they were x y Z you know,
one in fifteen, yet they playedseven national TV games. But where's
(32:57):
the balance? So you do feelus, But you don't necessarily resent one
person or or anyone. But moreso than you you resent the way the
media is handling it. Okay,I hear what you're saying. Uh,
you know, everybody likes the story. LaVar Ball was a story, Lonzo
Ball was a story. Everybody getscaught up in a story. That's how
the media works right and sometimes forthe wrong reasons. But that's how the
(33:22):
media works. And we have toacknowledge that I'm saying this. Stop worrying
about what you're not getting and beappreciative that someone has caught the attention of
the media and it's going to giveyou a platform now to be seen.
You will have that opportunity. Youwouldn't have had it, it wouldn't have
(33:43):
existed. Like her or not,you know, resent her lover whatever she's
doing that and it's good for theleague. Talk about the league in positive
ways. When you have an opportunityto speak, talk about the things that
you think will resonate with people thatwill give you an opportunity to bust out,
(34:08):
to break out. Do that.Stop complaining about well we're here too.
You know when people notice people whenthey do something that's noticeable. Yeah,
but Fred, that's that's not natural. You know, you you could
I could go back to several insistantsand you know, for me, but
(34:30):
also go to you know, you'reyou know obviously talking angel Ree saying you
know, I had something to dowith it too, when when actualities,
yeah, she she does not tothe extent. Caitlyn Clark but and the
LSU Iowa matchups were the highest ratedfor NCAA Basketball for women, and it
(34:52):
was because of both of them. You know, it wasn't necessarily because it
was just Kaitlin clar because you playedagainst other teams. The game against UCL
wasn't hot nearly as watched as agame against he had against LSU because of
the matchup with Angel Reaves and DaylenClark. Same thing with the Scotless guy.
The anticipation of them too going atit when they had, you know,
(35:15):
a very starch, hardcore rivalry incollege where you know, one year
LSU won it all and beat them, and the next year they came back
and Iowa got the revenge. Andso it was that built in rivalry,
just much like you know, peoplecouldn't wait to see Bird and Magic play
in the in the NBA, right, they had that match up in college
(35:36):
and know a lot of people arerooting for Bird to come back and and
it Will still wanted Magic to keepit going. And so there was that
that kind of back and forth andthey fed off of each other. But
if you're if you're playing and youcome in and you won a title,
Doc and Angel Reas Now you wona title, and you have a good
(35:59):
game, or you play some youknow, you start off the season pretty
good. And the first five questionsare, what do you think about Caitven
Clark? How do you think she'sa just league? How do you think
about came? That's gonna affect you, That's gonna affect you in so many
ways, it's gonna make you, yeah, resentful. It's like, wait
a minute, I just had Ijust had a double double and we just
(36:21):
won by fifteen, And the firstfive questions about what Caitlyn did, and
it could be we didn't even playthem that night. The same with a
lot of people in the league. And and that's where there's an edginess and
resentful. And again it's not Idon't think it's all directed towards Caitlyn Clark.
Now in some instances it is,but a lot of it is,
(36:43):
Man, can I just get alittle love? Can I just? Can
I just get a little love outhere? You know, I get it,
she's now the face. But canI get a little love after I've
just had a game and now Igot to ask the first five questions about
her? That's all right? Rememberduring spring training, you go up to
Mookie BET's first question, what doyou think about Shoheo Tani, And I'm
(37:05):
guarantee you they resented it, Alot of them did. It's settled down,
it aday, it calmed down everyday. I gotta I gotta do
that. No one's gonna have todo everything every day, even in the
w NBA. I just think theplayers should look at it as an opportunity
to grow, to grow the league, to grow their personal brands. When
you're being asgreed with that should allright, And when you're being asked about
(37:27):
Caitlin Clark, if you have somesort of answer that you've already figured out
that makes you seem endearing to themedia. If the media is behind all
of this, all of a sudden, the media is going to do more
for you, because it is humannature. One thing we can agree on.

(41:37):
Well, let me get to thepoint. Old Tony is in no slump.
Old Tani is in no slump whenyou're hitting three twenty two, when
fourteen homers thirty eight runs back thenand you're hitting you know, through incredible
pressure situations in your personal life.Of course, you know, Missihawa plee
guilty today, you know, tobank fraud and tax fraud. He had
(42:00):
to go through that. What didhe have to go? It was the
guilty? Are you kidding? Mehis best friend, betraying him. Fred
I think he's already yes, butI'm saying he's not in a slump when
you're hitting three twenty two, whichis basically about you know, in his
(42:24):
first six years with the Angels, his average are like two to eighty.
So he's hitting like, you know, forty points above is major league average.
Old Tony is in those slump. All Tony Sands is doing it beautifully,
executing him beautifully. Well, hecan be in a slump. Dick
is just it's just not a dramaticslump or something that we need to be
(42:45):
concerned with. But there are acertain states to Old Tawny standards. This
could be considered a little bit ofa slump. Old Tony standards are so
off the off the charts. Youknow, we don't even know his standards
because his perfection for excellence is relentless. Did you guys hear about the NFL
(43:09):
