Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome Tuesday Eve never one, and welcome live to Crusader
Gymnasium on the campus of Unity Christian High School, where
tonight on the road to the Bresident Center, presented by
MKD Funeral Homes, we feature a Girls Division two quarterfinal
between the twenty two and three Falcons of West Catholic
and the twenty four and two Sailors of South Christian.
Hello over one is along with buck Gino up high

(00:21):
above the playing surface. I'm Brett Pikita Joant, the third
member of our crew. And what is unique about this
buck Gino as we're one ticket punch away from the
final four in the President Center for West Catholic, just
like Rockford trying to do it tonight against Grant Aven.
That'd be four consecutive seasons if they can do it
tonight against their rival South Christian. These two teams not

(00:41):
only from the same area in West Michigan, but the
same Okay Conference division of the ok Goal They were
code champs split in the regular season. Here we go
the third goal round, yet they don't meet until the quarterfinal.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yes, now, every day that you get that this far
into the tournament for any sport, really, I mean We've
done football games where we have local SAMI finals or
regional finals perhaps, but you know, rarely in the same division.
But now you have a girls' quarterfinals. So these two
teams have already played twice and that's gonna give each team,
I think a little bit more of an advantage because

(01:17):
they've already seen these teams, right, so they kind of
know what to expect. They don't have to make up
a new game plan, so to speak. They can come
into this game be comfortable. Both teams beat each other
at home the first time, so this is a neutral
court so we'll get to decide the season series here.
But you're right, I mean, two good teams and pretty
good I think, probably the best girls basketball division in

(01:40):
West Michigan. I know the Rockford and Grand Haven are
squaring off in the OK Red.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
But I think depth wise, when you go top to bomb,
you look at some of the teams at the botom
of the Red versus some of the teams at the
bomb of the Wide.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I mean, I think game in and game out, there
was a lot of competitive basketball to be played. But really,
I mean just great accomplishment for not only South Christian.
They're looking to get to the Breslan for the first
time since twenty sixteen, and Derek Pies in his first
year at West Catholic. Well, his girls at least know
the way to Breslan because they've been there quite a
few times under coach vandr Andy Banou. With Derek at

(02:12):
the Helm, they're looking to get back there again with
a new cast. So big game for both teams, and
based on what the regular season brush should be a
good one.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Sophia Friends, the outstanding junior point god one of the
leaders for South Christian. Alisia Diikster, a discorder thousandth career
point headed the University of Toledo, the senior leader for
West Catholic. As we go, Falcons twenty two and three,
overall Sailors of South Christian twenty four and two. We're
counting down to tip off beyond the J and H.
Mamby Stores free game show in this Division two quarterfinal,

(02:44):
it's brought to you by J H. Mamby Stores with
now sixty plus locations across Michigan to serve you. Now
we're to the fact that girls also finished the basketball season,
boys wrapping up last Saturday. In what a story it was,
Jason Hunt and I were court signed for the call
on Saturday morning, Bryan Any Christian and the Defenders and
their head coach Mark Kieler his thirty eighth season. He
announced at the start of the year it was his

(03:06):
final season, and they send him out with a state
championship victory over Fowler forty nine to thirty two, his
seventh state championship as head coach of the Defenders. I
had a chance to catch up with coach a couple
of days after removed from that this morning, and we'll
share that conversation coming up on the Jay and A's
Family Stores pre game show next right here on ninety
six to one the game and welcome back to the

(03:40):
Jaynh's Family Stores pregame show filling up here at Crusider
Jim Nazi and I love it because they have the
stands behind the backboard, so you get that arena in
the bowl effect. And Buck Gina, let's go to you
now before we get our Sporting US starting lineups, and
this one the Sailors from South frist to the Falcons
of West Cathay.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
We know it's gonna be good on the hardcourt. How
do you see the keys to this one playing out tonight.
I think for both teams, their best players have to play.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
When we did the game against Moskegean, West Catholic did
not have a lot of scoring from some of their
better players. I'm not gonna call anybody out right now,
but i will say as a blanket statement, when you
get this far, you can't make it without your best
players playing at their best. Now, they're gonna have some
stiff competition, of course, because the other team's just as.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Good, but they have to have somebody.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
I mean, if you've got a girl like Alicia Diischer
who's going to Toledo, she's gotta score you some points.
If you have a girl like Lily Knitts who's a senior,
could be her last game, she's got to come through.
So there's a lot of different players that can contribute.
But your your stars have to be there for you
at this time because this is when you're supposed to shine.

(04:46):
So that's really my key is I want to see
the best on the best, but they have to come
to play and they have to produce.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
I think it's gonna be one of those games where
you're right, senior leadership is big foul trouble is gonna
be big who knocks down.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Their three there's.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Your Bandalian of Home Improvement keys to the contest with
the one and only Buck Gino with eighty years in
the business. Bandalon of Ho Improvement offers top notch contract
or services to customers in West Michigan called six one
six sixt' six nine eleven eleven. More details of visit
vandalions double aon lines dot com. Eric Craftsped and his
crew probably tuned in tonight because it's quarterfinal action on
the road to the President Senate.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Let's take a look at your sporting you stony lineups.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
First of all for the Disney with their navy blue
uniforms tonight in the white trim Sailors of South Kristian,
they come in at twenty four and two coach champs
and the Okay gold with West Catholic. They were both
eleven and one beating each other in division play. Lizzie
Woldeist is a junior starter eleven points per game, forty
one percent shooter from behind the arc, so you can't
let her set her feet. Cameron Boonster is one of

(05:43):
those seniors who were talking about Buck Gino she's kind
of a guard's last board number ten. Sofia Prince is
their point guard fourteen point three points per game and
the leader Meredith Helmest.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
The talented sophomore, just continues to get better.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
She came up at the end of last year as
a freshman and then Lily Nets at seven point six
points were great rebounder for the Sailors and head coach
Erica Brown Wes Cathay and their home Whites wins the
tap and they've got the freshman at the point in
ken Lee Slinger, and she has to be smart tonight,
the freshman for the Falcons as Alisihadikster has it out
top Manda Man. Pressure defense by the Sailors just underway

(06:17):
here Dykester, watched by Lily Nits, gets this slanger off
the screen. She got in foul trouble against Muskegan. Has
to be smarter tonight, step back three asakomme way off
the mark rebound friends and here comes to the Sailors.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
They want to run every chance they get.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Well that's the use how Christian desta shot that you want?
Isa Kome taking the long three. They backed off for
not letting her get into the post. Takes the three
and misses everything.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Good matchup there, waldheisted junior against Alisha Diikster at Lisa
right in her pocket everywhere she goes.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
You have to do that because she's got a living range.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
And the Falcons under head coach Derek Pies and his
first year Manda Man, pressure defense to start. Good match
up here. Two Knits trying to back down the sophomore
Asai Kome. Now here's helmets on the penetration the baseline
Nights bounce past and leave for Knits for two.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Well, have a little double clutch there in the post
actually opened up the passing lane as South Christian comes
out a little three quarter court trap.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Yeah, they love that.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
After him, make two nothing Sailors just underway here in
this Division two quarterfinal. Great story here in one of
the other starters, Anna ignataskid a big game in the
loss at West Gothlic She just didn't have much help
with Dykester and the others like you talked about Buck.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
She'll need that tonight.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Asacome triple team in the post knocked away Helmus now
with friends to her right, helms on the attack all
the way, puts it up an end that's the sophomore
Meredith Helmas. She does all the little things, including averaging
seven points per contest. Coming in.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Well, they trap and they're also going to the two
three zone now, Brett. They backed off the man demand
and gone with the.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Two three Ignitowski speaking of unlimited range, but way off
the mark. Maybe not used to no wall behind like
they have it West Kathick and South Christians used to
have it on the one end the student section where
it's a little different shooting, but on both ends here
at Crusader Gymnasium four nothing South Christian long cairen went
out of bounds. West Catholic in the front court inbounds

(08:03):
dykestra to Slanger the freshman two to three matchup zone.
Erica Brown likes to go to that in the half
court set once they beat the pressure with friends and
helmets out top. Here's Slanger dribble penetration, nice step through
a bout a freshman. How about to finish the little
left hand off the window.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
A great job there keeping the ball in possession in
the West Catholic on the make.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Also with the pressure, Slanger working against Helmes, helmets got
knocked down a Slanger just takes it away from her.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
No call, they play on.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Let him play on a little.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Physicality, Sophia friends the left, You now down the left side.
No one told her Ignatowski was coming from behind to
pick her pocket. And here comes Anna right back mentioned
Anna Ignatowski. What a story. Last two years. She's missed
pretty much the entire seasons with knee surgery. She wears
the knee braces, but having a fantastic senior season to
end her career with the Falcons. Dykes are a little

(08:51):
two man game finished, little left hand, nicely set up
by Page Seeley.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
London again getting the defense to commit there dumping into
dikes and there's just nobody there that can stop her.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Good two man play there, great execution.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Do I love the spacing by both these teams offensively
leting their athletes get in space. They all can take
you off the dribble West Catholic, same thing Helmus look
at three, might have got partially blocked that time by Slanger,
the freshman who flew out quickly. She's amazing too when
you look at Slanger. Great with steals, one of the
leaders on the team, rebounds, she does it all and

(09:27):
only a freshman guard, got pretty good link to her
great athlete, Big Nataski feeding the post at the free
to line Asacomi, a good passer, kicks it out to
pacv London decides not to take the three dribble drive,
got it deflected away and now the ball tied up.
It's gonna be Sailor basketball tied at four piece, four
thirty eight left to go on this opening quarter.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Early subs for South Christian. We talked about this too.
I think South Christian probably a little bit deeper on
the bench, Coach Brown a little bit more willing to
go to there a little bit earlier in the game.
West Kathoic, as we saw Againstiskin, really only had a
six seven player rotation.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Abby Prince now the freshman younger sister of Sofia. We've
got two sets of sisters, the wold Heish sisters and
the Princes, and both younger siblings are freshmen, but talented
for South Christian.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Abbey in there and now, nice job on the dribble drive.
Just put her head down.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Lizzie Woldheis with a finish in the lane that's not
normally her game. She likes to shoot from outside.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Is Danny helping a little bit with the that's a
that's a thirty one dive right there.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Ceeley London high triple hits off the top of the window.
No good off the feet from Dykstra friends with the
long cara of rebound dribble penetration, almost lost it, got
it a block from behind. Brianna not what up? Good
job by Dykstra and here comes it Nataski back the
other way. Up and down we go the pace Ignataski
with the finish up and under against Sophia.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Brand Well well Catholic struggling from outside early, so they
need to get the ball into the painted airy.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Great job at Gnatowski.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Didn't give up the dribble, just press the issue, gets
the layoff up the window.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
I told you like the baseball.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
You know, I'm tired of watching this one six apiece
with three thirty eight left to go, up and down
feeding on the right elbow. Brianna Knotts one of those
subs for South Christian coming in.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
She can play the post.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Nothing there so they reset out top Helmas has it
right wing skip passed over to Lizzie woldtheist matched up
Mike Dykstra comes out to gut her outside the arc.
Now hands off to Sophia Prince. That's a good matchup
two with Ignatowski. Now Prince knocks down Dykstra, play on
woldtheist in a corner airball for three page. Celely London
with a rebound, rips it away from the freshman Abbey Prince.

(11:29):
Now Here comes Ceily London with the dribble of the
front court of the sideline reverse pivot and sticks it
back out to Slanger, who looks over to coach Pies
to set up the offense. Ken Lee Slanger freshman or
West Catholic having a tremendous year top of the key
and she is fearless, swings it left side of the
senior Dykstra Dykster against Helmets, good defense by helmet step

(11:49):
through no nowhere to go. Abbey Prince, with good help,
is well to bother the shot. Sophia Prince up ahead
Meredith Helms nice three sixty pivoted lane and puts it up.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
It in.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
And Helmas just has a high basketball like you.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
They pushed the ball up, gets in the advantage there
and then either she's gonna get the foul or the bucket.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Great job there by Helmets.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Her confidence is soaring by the way this season, Alicia
Dykes are good looking at three. No, Slanger on the
offensive rebound, went up, got hit in the nose and
just dropped the ball. She's behind the plate, down on
her knees. Meanwhile, play on for South Christian now deflected away.
I'm gonna have a whistle. I think they're gonna get
Alicia Diikester. But down on the other end, Slanger is
in some serious pain.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Yeah, she's she's leaking.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Yeah, that's a hockey guy thing right there.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
She's leaking. That just hurts too.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Yeah, And you could see her and in her face
and coach Pie is thinking maybe there should have been
a foul there. That's tough because the official on the
baseline can't see that contact, right, gotta come from up top.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
And you're right there having to clean the floor up
with the blood coming from her nose.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
So hopefully they get that cleaned up. Caitlin Adams will
come in for I agree with your buckets.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
It's one of those where she stepped through and it
was kind of inavert and kind of hit like a
shoulder or an arm. I mean there's been a lot
of what I would call fifty to fifty plays so far.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
In the officials, I think it's doing a good job.
They want to let the girls play, but also you
start to get it. If it starts to get out
of control, that's what you got to reel it in.
We'll see here now they call the first foul.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Reach in.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
We'll see if they start to blow the whistle a
couple more times and see they can try to get a.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Little more control. It's a first foul. The game, by
the way, called age Cey London the guilty party. With
two thirteen left to go, it's fast moving opening corner.
Now here's Abby Prince, the freshman. Good job walling her
up by ASA Comme airball rebound Dykstra. Yeah, and they're
not gonna bail you out. Down low, I can tell
you that Dykstra faking the pass goes up with the
left hand south distan Fans thought Lily Knits went up vertically,

(13:45):
but she did get her with the body on a block.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
And so Alicia Dinkstra, the senior.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Leader for the Falcons, will go to the charity stripe.
Tonight's starting lineups, by the way, being brought to you
by Sporting You. You're looking good and your new sporting you,
Polo Bucchino. You think at de Linka they've taken care
of our crew. Check out their during inventory online and
sporting the LETTERU dot com or their new location down
between Byron Center and whalan is eating out of the
first for Dykester, who's just under a seventy percent free

(14:10):
throw shooter. Well, West Catholic, I think struggling early here
shooting the basketball from any sort of distance.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Got to try to dial it in here.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
First file, by the way, whistled against South Christian.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
Brianna not gonna pick it up.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Dykster hits the second eight to seven are score in
favor of the Sailors just under two minutes, and take
you that to go. On the first around, Adams kickout
Sophia Prince's opposite helmets, thought about the three. Now gets
it down low, Oh, left handed half book, no good
around it out for Brianna. Not rebound asakome one and done.
Now on the attack is Adams knocked away by Knitts.

(14:51):
Oh we're gonna they said Wes Kathley. But I think
they're gonna have a conference here they're gonna go.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
The other way.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Yeah, I don't think anybody from telph Christian touched the ball, and.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
It was right in front of the South Christian student section,
so they helped him out a little bit. But good
job a veteran crew appreciating here. And again you're looking
at an angle there.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Coach Pye's doesn't really make a big concern about it
because I think heed the call was coming to Adam's
just out of control.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
There gets the quick.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Hand off and then she just wasn't able to control
the dribble.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Full court pressure by West Catholic after the turnover Sophia Prinz.
It's kind of a one man riking crew to attack
that with a bounce. She's so good naturally left handed
but can go either way. Throws you off because she's
strong with her right hand. Adam's trying to deheer up.
Caitlin Adams junior guard now swings it over triple try
No good by Nitch, He's got range long Carol Nope,

(15:42):
comes out to Knits and South Christian will reset with
another opportunity.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Yeah, the second chance points also gonna be something to
watch here. Not a lot of offensive rebounds we've had
in this game, but boy, possessions are going to be
so precious.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
So winning The first game was West Kathick at South
Christians Bucket lutto triple trying by friends, no Knicks, trying
to tip it out for tase Komme who brings it
across the timeline herself, and now Derek Pie is going
to take a thirty second time.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Well Asakome got out there and she gets about thirty
feet to the basket and she's looking around and it
was pretty confusing because I don't think they knew what
they wanted to run there, So.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Good quick time out there by coach Pies. So I
want to get to my point if you're wondering how
this broke down. In their first meeting at South Christian,
it was West Catholic winning by thirteen sixty two forty nine,
just one of two losses on the year for South Christian.
They're riding by a way a sixteen game winning streak
reret hot get to this point in the quarterfinals and

(16:41):
the game that I covered for Fox seventeen Sports at
West Cathock in the rematch, it was South Christian doing
a great job even though Ignatowski went nuts from behind
the arc to kind of keep the Falcons in it.
South Christian winning that one by seven, fifty eight to
fifty one. But my point being when these two teams lose.
We saw it again with Wes Cathock Mschigan. They lose
in tight games. They're in it right down to the stretches,

(17:04):
a matter of maybe a shot going down, to some
free throws going well.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
And that's what I mean about your best player is
coming to play and you need them to get over
the hump.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
And right now Teikstra ice cold.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
She's only got the bucket and the one free throw
shooting overall for the ice cold for them, they need
to find a way to get that rectified.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
I think that player right there at Pagcney in London
needs to knock down some threes. Try to crosscore pass
Dola by Lily. Knit's good anticipation. But Ignaitaski with the
block with thirty four points six seconds left to go
in the quarter, it will go out of bounds off
West Catholic, so South Christian in bounds underneath therown bucket.
This first quarter being brought to you by a straight
line fence. More on that after this play say in

(17:40):
bounds it in. Cameron Boonster got to start the senior
sets the screen now wildheist couldn't take the three wants
a dribble, drive and a block and to be called against.
Alexisasta Coome came over to help.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Yeah, just slides the feed over a little bit, try
to seal that off and she's the right underneath the basket.
That's a tough one if you're an interior defender. But
but yeah, I don't know, that's a tough one to
take because if you don't, she's got an easy layup.
I like to play there.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Good news for West Catholic fans, buck you know, ken
Lee Slanger is at the scores table. They've got the
bloody nose taking care of. She's got a check back in.
Paige Seley London will check out for Derek Pyez. Meanwhile,
Sophia Prince will get a little quick quarterbreak, Meredith Helmes
in for her first free throw up and good bye
woldtheis mentioned straight Line Fence bringing this opening quarter Fencing

(18:28):
company Ground Rapids with a personal touch, offering both residential
and commercial fencing projects surrounding out of the second one
good rebound by Alicia Teikstra. Call today for your freestmen
at six one, six four four three twenty five fifty
or visit straight Line Fences dot com.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Oh, I'll hold for the last shot.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Here Dyke's trout top near the interlocking you see here
at Crusader Jimmy's in beautiful campus Unity Christian High School
on the south and west sound of Grand Rapids. Now
on the drive, they're gonna get an armbar Lily knits
that time.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Yep, they're not gonna let him hand check your thirty
feet out of the mask.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
No, at least this crew will.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
And the good news is I mean just the second
foul up on the board for South Christian. The quarter
almost done. Remember it's five in a quarter. That gets
you to the bonus. Eight point three seconds left. Ignitoski
keeping eye in here. It throws in the backward of Dykes.
Right now back to Ggnitowski. She's got unlimited range. Back
to Dykes for a fake. The three over to Asa
Komme and no off the front rim. But she got

(19:23):
a clean look. Knich was late coming out, and our
first quarter comes to a close. It's the road to
the Bresident Center Division two quarter Final after one South
Christian nine, West Catholic seven, and you're listening to all
the action line brought to you by MKD. Funeral Holmes
right here on ninety six to one the game. You know,

(19:45):
Joe Arfter, the third member of our crew, PTE Sedley
London back in and now we'orking against the two to
three matchup zone. So maybe Derek Pye is recognizing South
Christian gonna go to that she is a zone breaker
if they can get her with an open look. Dykes
as of the free throw line kick opposite Ignitowski, three high,
Archie triple up and good and that's what Ana can
do to bring South Christian out of that zone. Well,

(20:05):
I mean that was a contested look too, but a
rainbow three goes down and now like you said that
you can break that zone, there could be things opening up. Ooh,
Alicia Diikster almost to steal and now over aggressive commits
the file as she knocks down Cameron Boonstra trying to
dig that one out.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Good hustle by number two.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
She has certainly picked up her energy from when we
saw with the Mischigan game. And like we said seniors.
Sometimes they realize, hey, you know, the career could be
over tonight. Right, The energy is there in the adrenaline.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Her career is not gonna be over, but the time
with friends and family certainly is.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
So that's a big motivator.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Gonna go out and play with her older sister who
she starred at with West Catholic Cadence Dykstra finishing up
for a sophomore season at the University of Toledo.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
Both gonna be Rockets ten to nine.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
Our score West Catholic by one, just underway open hi
mind of the second quarter winter advancing to Friday night,
seven thirty game the Division two semi finals at the
Brotherland Center. Penetration by Prins back in there after the
short with the quarter break nowhere to go, good defense
by West Kathick Ignatowski on Prince. Now Helmus has it

(21:10):
against the freshman slying her two good looking young prospects
there now, Lizzie Waldhei's nice job of the dribble drive.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
Help was late coming over.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
There was no Osakome didn't realize it until too late.
That's her help side d didn't fill the lane.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
West Kathock against the pressure after the make by South
Christian gets across the timeline. Seeley London little runner that
time faking the three too strong off the window rebound
cleared by knits up the right sideline, bringing herself against
Osa Kome now picks up the dribble bounce passed out
to Boonstr's got rains there she pulled for three the
left he no long Caramendikster's got it. Alicia into the

(21:49):
front quarter South against Prince hesitation dribble user size.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
At time and straight no Asikome.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
It's one of her best features on the offensive glass
miss of the bunny Dyster gets it back kick out.
Good look for Celia London got the three back to
back triples. Now and here comes West Catholic, leaning it
by two thirteen to eleven.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Talking about second chance points, well do they have third
chance points?

Speaker 3 (22:10):
That one will have to put that one under review.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
But just two costly offensive rebounds if you're South Christian.
Can't give those up, especially when they're missing them from
inside and Seeley London cashes in.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Oh and now a silly one for Lisia diister three
mean why he's not happy with his senior that's that's.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Her second and that's the same thing we saw against
the Muskegon team. Is just the ones that you can
I get the one down here, but she's thirty five
feet from the basket.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
Yep, you can't do that.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
And like you said, Coach pie Is kind of throws
his head back. He's like that, that can't happen. It
wasn't even being aggressive. No with the dribble. No, just
let her dribble out there. That is for a second.
Keep an eye on that.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Not as deep as Buck alluded to his South Christian,
who goes maybe about eight deep to six maybe seven
for West Catholic if they're not in foul trouble. Thirteen
to eleven West Catholic. Oh, Sofia Prance try to go
up with a runner knocked away. I think Ignatoski got
a hand on it, dug out of there by Caitlin
Adams approaching five minutes left to go first halping Nitaska

(23:10):
the penetration to slang her backing her way down against
the senior Knits goes up nich with a block stayed
home that time. Lily Knits really like her, and she
was I think the offensive MVP at West Cathoic. When
South Christian beat them well, and like you said, your
seniors have to come to play. The best players have
to come to play. Oh close to it, over and

(23:31):
back they threw it. Ceely London nice staves just slang
her well.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
I think Cely London forgot there. She could have chase
that down in the back court. You're allowed to do
that in high school. So just let it go over
half court and regather. Now deep three again.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Ignitoski off the mark, but look at Adams the offensive
rebound digging out amongst the trees, get some Dykstra dribble,
try and penetration left it short on the scoop on
the right side.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Wold Heist spotted that one, and Lizzie comes down with
the rebound.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
Well, she tried to avoid contact. It ended up taking
herself out of the shop. Sophia prints now to a
cutting wld Heist junior or junior back to so via Prince.
Good defense that time by Dykester with the two personals. Yeah,
I gotta be careful, can't pick up the third. I'd
go right back at her. I think wold Heist erst
they got it to it. Let's see if she drives
or settles for three. Alicia backing off a little bit
now resets with helmets between the circles right side. Prince

(24:16):
friends on the penetration kickout gold heist for three, too
strong off the backgard good box up by Etnaitaski ball
run down by Prince No one help bounce past the Helmes.
Oh she missed for the left hand rebound. Adams Boy
good luck for South Christian couldn't convert. They're still down
by two.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
A lot of third goals and we're not getting to
the end zone here and we're gonna have a time
out cut my coach Pie is that's the full one,
Derek Pye said, I want emphatically a full time out.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
Three fifty four left to go first half. We'll take
it as well. West Catholic thirteen, South Christian eleven. You're
listening to the Road to the President Center Division two
quarterfinal right here on this Tuesday night.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
On ninety six to one, the gate back inside the
nine to six won the game.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
Studios, let's check on a Division one quarter final matchup
between the Rams of Rockford and Grand Haven Buccaneers. Just
starting the second quarter early lead for grand Haven fifteen
to fourteen checked at the Rams just pulled ahead seventeen
to fourteen old for Grand Haven guys.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
All right, they get jailed.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
The gratulation by the way, the senior guard for year,
varsity player for Brad Wilson, and a why pitch named
yesterday Miss Basketball for twenty twenty five, first ever for
boys or girls for Rockford High School and what a
career eight school records for her. We'll see if they
can continue and trying to get back just like West
Catholic to the Bruzlon Center to at least the semi
finals for the fourth consecutive year for the Rams, just

(25:37):
one loss on the season. After the time Outdiser gets
a two to three matchups on to Slanger penetration, kicks
out to Adams nccorico's baseline tries, the runner hits the
side of the backboard, Lily knits with the rebound.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Here comes South Christen boy. It has been a struggle.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
Yeah, Well, Adam's in for Sealy London and they've struggled
from that spot offensively throughout the game. Sophia Fritz bounced
pass right side to start their offense to Helmas.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
Now Lizzie Wold heist ball reversal.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
Prance gets it to Helmets in the painting against Tykestra,
kickout Knits, Knits backing her way down against the freshman
Slanger and got to go kind of hit funny off
the backboard and rim begets the shooters, roll drops in.
We're todd at thirteen two two one three quarter court
pressures bucket little too after the make Dyster in the
middle and oh just threw it away.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Try to lead Ignitowski well, and that's she was going
a little bit faster in the progression.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
I mean they had the ball advanced, had the ball
at the top of the key, that's where you can
set the offense up. Instead, she tries to hit Ignaitowski
and and I just didn't think the pass was going there.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
So now a breather for Lily Knits.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
At the two fifty eight mark, as Erica Brown going
through a bench and back two fellow big and senior
Brianna Knots wld heyes has it between the rings. Who
dagerous pass almost floated out there. Prince gets it around Ignitoski.
Will be appressive defensively kickout Helmus good looking at three
on the way nothing but Nylon Meredith Helms with a
triple in South Christian. Read games that lead by three,

(27:02):
sixteen to thirteen.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
West Kathlic They had the gambles for the steel, then
it leaves them behind and great play there by South Christian.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
You can finally get the open look Kenley Slanger after
the bloody nose early kicks out in Natowski, can she answer?
No hits off the heel, long caremount of bounds, no
one touched. It'll be South Christian basketball. Don't forget coming
up at the half our whole Steps and Physical Therapy
halftime show tonight. Players have worked hard to get their
bodies ready for competition and else. JEPS and Physical Therapy

(27:31):
wants you to stand in the game no matter what
level of activity you desire. They get patient same within
twenty four to forty eight hours, twenty four locations and
growing in West Michigan. Holt steps in Physical Therapy restoring body,
reviving spirit Old heis in the front court, right side, friends,
crossing over the right hand, run over the left hand,
off the window, pretty against Ignitoski on off.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
For West Caffy.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Gotta be careful here and it's gonna be a tight
ball game, but a five point lead the biggest one
for South Christian.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
Can't let it get much bigger. Dykestra draws a double team.
They extend out that two to three matchup zone, friends
in helmets, helmets for the long arms, since stature out
front gets a lot of deflections left side to slanger
friends on her out top between the rings.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Dykestra hesitation dribbled.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
Down on the right side trying to get contact and
does good call by the official. Is not trying to
wall up, and she went up in the air, left
her feet and wants you to do that body to body,
easy call for the official.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Yeah, and that's what you gotta do there against Dykestra
just got If she stays on the floor, that's nothing right.
But then when you jump like you said, the contact comes,
and that's what dykester wants you to do, especially driving
that hard to the hoop, she'll get two.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
We have a rapid radio scoreboard update coming up with
Joe is Dykesterra and nothing of an Island the first
And here's what I will say, Buck compared to that
in the skiing game, a little bit different style here
with what they're facment a South Christian. I do like
at least Alicia Dykstra being aggressive early in this game.
She's trying to get to the basket, trying to get
those and ones, even though she hasn't been successful on

(28:56):
knocking down the buckets and rattles. The second one home
makes it a one possession game, eighteen to fifteen. South
Christian by three. I think Coach Pie is happy with that.
Didn't like the second personal she picked up, so we'll
see if she can get to the half with just
two swing around Lily knits for three. That one short
off the front rim battle for the rebound. Adam's trying
to save it, but they say she stepped.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
Down the line.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
It'll stay with South Christian underneath throwing basket to our
left by the way for not that's her second personal
of the game for South Christian. Off the bench, Lily
knits to inbounce bounce pass in to Abby Prance. Nice job,
but leaning in to get the contact against Sealy London. Boy,
there's a mismatch size wise and the freshman.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Yeah, they found the mismatch underneath the good pass there
entry into the paint to London. Not only did she
not have position but she's also straight under the basket.
Just that much she can do there.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
Only the third team filed this quarter, but her second
so foul troubles starting to bottle lit it for West
Catholic as Abby Prinz, the South Pawn freshman short on
the first one. Nineteen left to go first half a
ticket to the Final four in Division two in the
Breslin Center Friday night to play in the second semi

(30:11):
final to the winner of this one missed them both rebound.
Dykestra went up with a big claw to grab that one.
She'll bring it across the timeline herself with her size
so talent, a nice crossover with the right hand and
now again gets in the paint and draws the contact
with a foul. And like I said, I'm liking this aggressive.
This is more of Alicia Diiksters game. Recognize you've got

(30:34):
the mismatch and take your defender off the bounce.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Well, and that's what they're gonna have to do because
that zone right now has frustrated them. One of the
ways to beat that is drive the ball in, try
to freak that zone down. Then you can get to
the kickouts later in and out on the first. That
is Lily Nich's second, so she's gonna come out. BOOTSTRAU
gonna come in.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Lizzie Waldheist back in South Krist a little bit shorter bench.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
As you'd expect in this one for Erica.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
Brown Boy, big win for them at their own regional final.
They hosted the regional last week over Vicksburg, who knocked
him out last year in that, well, what.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Happened Joe with Bretton Allen with South Christian. Both the
Bigs have two, so they go to a little bit
smaller lineup here.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
Leisha Dykstra one of two, just split the pair to
a two point game, eighteen to sixteen. South Sofia Prinz
in the front court, watched by Nitaski Man and man
pressure defense. Dykester went flying by Waldye step back three,
airbaulted short and tapped in out of bounds, last touched
by Natalie Woldheiss, the younger Woldheist, the freshman.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
Well, you see Dykes are there not as aggressive running
out in the shooter. She backs off with the two
fouls and then Woldheights, thinking that she's going to get
some defense, airbaulted two, two.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
One, three, quarter court pressure final forty three seconds the
first half.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Oh, nice bounce past the middle of the Dykestra who
got it.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
Deflected as who went off but gathered herself nice feet
from Slanger and puts it up an hand.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
Well, like I said, best players have to come to play.
The Shoudiker certainly has done that in this first half.
Ties it up at eighteen. Sophia Prince nowhere to go,
walled up by Natoski. Now the dribble drive.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
Boots showing the left hand, Yes, reaches around Adams, puts
it up and in.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
And and one opportunity. Well, and that's what you gotta
do there. If you're the defender, you've already been beaten.
There's nothing good that's gonna happen. If you're gonna go
try to reach it and get that ball, you just
got to let that one go Instead, they go for
the end one opportunity.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
Now do you see what I'm talking about? Though? With
South Christian's length and they all can kind of dribble
the basketball, so they're a threat to drive. But you
got Booster there who's about five ten six foot, You've
got Abby Pranches in the game. You got not on
the bench. You got Lily Knits on the bench all
quote unquote kind of forwards, slash post players that can
take you off the dribble, and the jinx is out

(32:45):
for broadcasters as camera booster misses the free throw.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
I mean the free throw has been good at the
outside either And I think that's the solace you have
to take.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Is neither team doing anything better than the other one
right now?

Speaker 1 (32:58):
Twenty eighteen South Christian by two final eight seconds runner
by Slanger, the left hand off the front of the rim,
no rebound, Natalie Wold heights and that's the way the
half is gonna end. Well, we knew it was gonna
be tight. We told you that it was in both
the regular season meetings. One one by West Catholic, one
one by South Christian. Who's gonna win this one?

Speaker 3 (33:18):
Tonight?

Speaker 1 (33:18):
After one half of play of this Division two quarterfinal,
it's South Christian twenty West Catholic eighteen. You're listening to
the Road to the Brusident Center presented by MKD Feuderholmes
Live here on ninety six to one the game.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
Back inside the nine to six won the game. Studios,
I'm Joe Erret. Let's take a look at the Rapid
Radio scoreboard. We'll start in the NHL, which is live
top twelve thirty WTKG the Detroit Red Wings and the
Washington Capitals five point thirty to play. In the first period,
Red Wings and Capitals are deadlocked at Winnapece Dylan Larkin
with a goal at twelve twenty eight for the Red Wings.

(34:00):
Let's take a look at some other Division one girls
basketball quarterfinal action. In Division one at the half over
at Mona Shore Sailors Center, Rockford leading Grand Haven thirty
to twenty one. The winner of that game gets Wayne Memorial.
They played at five point thirty this evening, they defeated
Temperance Bedford forty two to twenty five.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
In Division three.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
Sees Niles Brandywine leading Granville Cavin Christian twenty to nine,
and in Division four Concord up thirty one to fifteen
on Byron Center. Zion Christian currently right now in Division
two South Christian leading West Catholic twenty to eighteen. The
winner of this game tonight on nine to six won
the game. We'll face the winner of Detroit Edison and

(34:40):
Detroit Country Day. Let's head back out courtside to Brepekita
and Buck Gino to preview the second half.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
Gentlemen, all right, thank you, Joey.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
Appreciate that Rapid Radio scoreboard update. Rapid Radios the instantaneous
communication provided by basically a push to talk walkie talkie
nationwide assisted with no monthly fees. I'm not lying a
limited range. Great for families, kids and businesses. Go to
rapid Radios dot com to learn more. That's rapid Radios
dot com. Well, South Christian leads it at the break

(35:07):
just about step for the start of the second half
twenty to eighteen over West Catholic. Let's go over to
my partner right now with our mkde Feuderholmes individual scoring
summary in that first sixteen minutes.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
Well for the visiting Sailors who have the lead twenty
to eighteen leading scorer Meredith Helmets with seven and also
Lizzie Oldheis with five, Sophia Prinz with four rebounds, also
Lily Knits with four rebounds, forty five percent field goal
percentage for South Christian. For West Catholic Palicans Elisia Deistra

(35:36):
eight point four boards and Ignatowski five points. They're only
shooting twenty eight percent, though, Brett, so we're gonna jump
right into our vandwin keys of the game. Well for
West Catholic, make more shots, ain't gonna cutter. If you're
South Christian, you just have to stay in this game.
You just gotta keep there with it. The longest they
let you in there, the more chances you have.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Sofia Brands got free little turnaround jumper from about seventeen
in and out rebound cleared as the Stailers started with
a basketball man to man pressure defenses we've seen throughout
the game by both sides. South Christian will go to
a little bit of a two three matchup. Dykester a
good look from the left wing for three. No slanger
on the offensive rebound puts it back up and in.
Meredith Helmets is saying, hey, she came over the top me.

(36:19):
But the players or the officials say, play on. We're
toied at twenty.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Well, and that's what you got to do if your
South Christian hurt them in the first half. Giving up
some offensive rebounds to West Catholic didn't happen nearly as
much for South Christian, and that's what's gonna keep West
Catholic in the game.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
Sophia friends the runner O couldn't finish with the right hand.
They try to shade her left hand because, like I said,
she's naturally a lefty, but just so good with the
right hand she plays off of that sets you up
at that time.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Took Ignataska on the drive and drew the contact.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
Well, like you said, they're fading the left, which means
that they're gonna give her plenty of room to the
other side, and she uses that to her advantage.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Let's see who can make their free throws. It wasn't
a stellar performance either way down the stretch, and this
one is sofia Q hits her first first half scoring
summary individually brought to you by MKD Funeral Home.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
Second one.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
There you go, broadcast try it didn't work at all.
Twenty one to twenty rebound Alicia Dykstrap MKD Funeral Homes
eight locations to serve you, proud sponsor again to the
road of the Buzzon Center is down loasakomate drawing traffic,
double team kickout, good look slanger for three airball high
archer and Dyster can't save it well part of the

(37:27):
wolves you were talking about, But you I mean, these
are two good shooting teams behind the arc, and boy,
they have not looked that way tonight.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
No, and especially West Katholic, I think more of their game.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
I mean, not that Health Christian can't do it, but
they clearly like to be inside the arc independent area
if they can get it. But West Kathley really likes
to shoot from outside. As we're gonna get a foul
here on Slanger.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
Yeah, help us hits the deck well.

Speaker 2 (37:51):
And I think for West Catholic, like you said, they're
used to shooting outside and have a little bit more success.
They just haven't had it. Dykes are trying to get inside.
But I mean that's a wide open look there.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
I mean that one.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
You just gotta shoot it better. I don't know what
else to say, but West Canth's got to figure it out.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
Inbound of Boonstra now friends has it drible penetration kicks
right wing helmets cut off by Slanger. West Kathock with
two quick files in this quarter by the way, to
none on the board for South Christian. Here's helmets dribble,
attack to Slanger, bounce, pass over to Wold heists. Good
job by Wes Cathock. Just kind of warm them out
of that lane twenty one to twenty. But good patience
on the other side for the Sailors offensive. Wold Hee

(38:29):
thought about the three left wing in the corner to
helmet now to with cutting boonstra deflected on a bounds.
I think Asakome got a hand on that stays with
South Christian.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
Well Ceely London.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
She gets to this match again diving underneath she's trying
to get she's trying to guard cam Boonstrau and that's
a really tough assignment and.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
They recognized it.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
And it was Boonsterra with his screen and roll and
was hammered as the inbound and two are wide opening
at the basket. Good file by Wes Cathock to make
her earn it. But again we've seen that play before
and you're right, that is a mismatch for paid Seely
London in favor of South Christian trying to guard her.
She's gotta be giving up what five six inches well,
And the other thing is they have three girls with
some height. West Catholic just doesn't have that many, So

(39:09):
there's gonna be a mismatch somewhere. And that's why Caitlyn
Adams's gonna come in for Swanger has actually gotten more
playing time, a little more height, a little more physical
on the defensive end, So you kind of give up
a little bit of offense taking swaying around, but Adam
is doing a much better job defensively right now. I
just realize why they said Slanger got the foul there
her second. I was thinking it was Sely London and

(39:29):
she got screened away. Bootstrum missed them both. Wow, buck Gino.
Alicia Dykstra with a rebound.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
Maybe they're not free throws the EI they're paid per
shot because they're not going in at all.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
For anybody mentioned MKD funeral homes every story, every moment,
every day. Now, good look for Adams and she hits
the three. That was what you were talking about.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
She heard me say I'm not giving up any offense
coming out here and bangs down football.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
But a good assessment, buck Gino, in the fact that
you saw him against Miskigite. That is more West Catholic's
game to the three as they regained the lead by two,
twenty three to twenty one. Now Paige Seedy London going
for the steal knocked out of bounds, they say last
touch by West Cathley. I'll stay with South Christian.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
Well, now they're gonna bring Slanger in for Sealy London
and that adds more height. Try to get I think
coach Pyez is trying to do a little more situational
something right now.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
Yep, tried to buy them all some time. Rotated him
in like basically almost hockey lines. Buck, you know you're
familiar with that. Hey, give me three minutes and then
they're coming out. Oh now, Sophia Prince double team knocked
away Dykestra, great scoop pass up ahead to Ignatowski and
they forced to turnover and get points off at twenty
five twenty one West Catholic.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
Great job by West Catholic defensive one.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
I was gonna say in the first half Sailors with
only four turnovers, but they've already had a couple of
year and we haven't even gotten halfway through the quarter.
Nice feed in the post, bootstra a kickout and Meredith
Helmets with her second triple that I from the right
corner right in front of the Sailor student section cuts
it back to one. Full court pressure after the make
twenty five twenty four now Helmus with a deflection and

(41:04):
comes up with the steel to a cutting Sophia Prince
puts it up and in. That's what the sophomore can do.
Meredith Helms now offense and defense has the Sailors back
in front.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
Well, have to break the press, and that's a little bit.
That's a fresh mistake.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
My Slanger there, she doesn't go towards who she's trying
to pass it to you. She just passes it from
stationary position.

Speaker 1 (41:24):
Adams got the three block, gets it back Slanger with
a good luck. Oh halfway down, pops out. Adam's on
the offensive Lass No, and then ran into asin komb.
They knock each other down. Here comes Sophia Prince kicks
right side to Helmt. She's been the hot hand low
she dribbled off her foot out of bounds. You mentioned
Meredith was seven. She's double digits now with that last
triple and again averaging seven points per game. But the

(41:48):
sophomore just keeps getting better. She was our offensive player
of the game. Brought to you my uptown cheepskate in
that district final win over Holland Christian.

Speaker 3 (41:57):
Twenty six twenty five.

Speaker 1 (41:59):
South Christian, back and forth Division two quarterfinal, back in
front by one over the Falcons.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
Well, and now West Cathin going to Dykeshra almost exclusively
to break that press. Once they get it into her hands,
South Christian kind of backs off.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
I'm surprised the Seilers their defense is played so well,
kind of dropping into this two three matchup zone. I
think it's just a confused West Cathock a little bit.
As I say that they get the steal, Dykester forced
that one of the baseline booster picked it off.

Speaker 2 (42:24):
Yeah, a lot of forcing passes where they're not not
really gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (42:29):
Helmus has it right wing out top to Wald heis
old hes watched by Dykstra. Pretty a defense by Alicia,
this senior on her tonight now to a cutting camera booster,
but it's not there. She wants it in the block
against Pete Seely London.

Speaker 3 (42:42):
Almost a five second call there too.

Speaker 1 (42:44):
Brett friends on the attack, goes up and oh, a
tough foul against Ignataska. I thought she had ball going up,
just kind of grabbed it from friends when she put
it out there. They say she got armed. I think
what happened there is she's gonna pick up the call.

Speaker 2 (42:58):
I don't think it was her arm. I think it
was the other one reaching in. Yeah, but she ended
up getting the foul called against her. There was a
couple of different pairs of arms.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
There was friends back in the free throw line, rattles
the first one home. That's Ignatosky's second. By the way,
how about the foul differential Bochino three thirty three left
to goin to third, four zip West Catholic with four
files to none on the board for South Christian.

Speaker 2 (43:23):
Well, we've seen this, you know, West Cathock with your
aggressive defense, sometimes they can get into those foul troubles.

Speaker 3 (43:29):
Brianna not back in the game.

Speaker 1 (43:31):
Also with the freshman Abbey Prince coming in knits and
also boos to the seniors will have a seat, Sofia
Prince gets in. Both pushes the lead out to three
twenty eight twenty five slanger over the top Dosta Komei,
he really hasn't been a factor tonight, spins that patent
move in the post and she draws a foul. In context,
she'll get a couple. That's a good job there. Asakome

(43:54):
really silent offensively.

Speaker 2 (43:56):
She missed the three in the first possession, missed one
in the last shot of the half, but after that
she's really been kind of invisible offensively, and West CAF
is gonna need her to step up a little bit.

Speaker 1 (44:06):
Abby Prinz first personal first to the quarter for South Christian.
This is the one thing about Asakome I really like
about her game. She knows she's gonna get filed. She
gets a lot of and ones, but when she goes
to the free throw line, she knocks down her free throws.

Speaker 3 (44:17):
Good looking stroking there, I go.

Speaker 1 (44:20):
We're just gonna, you know what, We're just gonna have
to talk during the free throws at all and out
of the second We're just gonna wait to see what happens,
and we'll tell you what after what happened twenty eight
to twenty six to lead back to two in favor
of the Sailor South CHRISTI with the basketball moving left
right in your radio, down three oh eight and Tikey
left to go into the third quarter. Ticket to the
Final four at the Breslin Center coming up Friday night

(44:40):
for the winner. Oh Stepan Steel, I think that got
deflected by Gnatowski. Asakome with a steal on the pass.
Helmuts trying to feed the quarter. Here's Agnatowski against Helmets.
Kick out, good looks lying her for three Hi our
Turnychi frings raid and knocks it down. We got white
pain on the ball from the ceiling. Wow, I mean
that took a long time to get down and that
he just dropped straight down. Full time out taken by

(45:04):
Erica Brown and the Sailors. Two forty four left to go.
It's been tight throughout. It's now West Catholic twenty nine,
South Christian twenty eight. You're listening to the Road of
the Wesildent Center presented by MKD Funeralomes live on this
Tuesday night. They're on ninety six to one the gate.

Speaker 4 (45:24):
Inside the nine sixty one in the game studios, I'm
Joe Aaron Quick breaking news in college basketball before they
start the March Madness practice on Thursday. Indiana waste no
time hiring their head coach. They've hired Darien Dvrees, who
just wrapped up his first season with West Virginia after
a six year run at Drake.

Speaker 1 (45:42):
Guys. Wow, it's a fairly new name in the college
basketball world for people unless you play close attention to
all that. And obviously West Virginia upset they did not
make the NCAA tournament. He was one of the guys
that people were talking about, rumored to be the next
head coach in Indiana. So we'll see what that does

(46:03):
for the Hoosias. They've gone through a few of them lately.
Lizzie waldheis after the time out triple try, got a
good look. No battle for the rebound, no to happy Friends,
the freshman digs it out.

Speaker 2 (46:12):
I mean, if you're going with historic president guys from
West Virginia that come to the big ten, U did
you do all right?

Speaker 1 (46:19):
Certainly worked for Michigan or John Byline as now a
steal by Alicia Diister has played well in what might
be your final game.

Speaker 3 (46:28):
She doesn't want to be but the senior leading the
way for West.

Speaker 1 (46:30):
Got the good look for being Seally London in and
out of the triple try at the left wing, Helm's
coming out with a hand up rebound Sophia Friends two
minutes and ticking left to going to third, twenty nine
to twenty eight West Catholic by one.

Speaker 3 (46:43):
How tightness this been? It was nine to seven South
Christian after one.

Speaker 1 (46:46):
They both scored eleven points in the second quarter with
South Christian twenty to eighteen and a half, and now
it's a one point game as we go on her
two minutes left to go in to the third quarter
rubber match as they split the regular season meeting and
finished okay gold co chance Lizzie Wald heis taking slang
of the freshman the baseline cut off. Now just threw
the pass off her leg Alicia Dykes with an easy stay.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
Yeah, she was thinking maybe they didn't get a back
door cut but wasn't coming. And goes to another turnover, big,
big turnover quarter for South Christian, who did a pretty
good job protecting the ball the first half.

Speaker 3 (47:19):
Great crowd here at Crusader Jimnasy one of my favorite.

Speaker 1 (47:22):
Ven years, Elsa and Dykes for the senior. The triple
penetration down the right side of the lane puts it
up and end and an and one opportunity.

Speaker 2 (47:28):
Well, and that's what Dyser has been trying to do
all game, being very aggressive driving the ball into the paint,
trying to get those and ones or at least get
to the free throw line and starting to get it again.
And like you said, she doesn't want it to be
her last game. Tonight and she's gonna play like it
here down the stretch.

Speaker 1 (47:45):
Brianna not picking up the personal that's her third second
team file this quarter. Erica Brown and the Sailors Dykes
are too strong on the red on the free throw
temp but look at us at Kolbe and tied up
as she hit the deck with Lizzie Waldheists. Possession are
gonna stay with the falcon, so will break there.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
Yeah, I mean that's a pretty good call because Isakome
and I didn't see the twelfth Christian woldheist. Well, I
didn't see who's on the bottom of the pile there,
but they both are holding it onto the ball, so
it really can't be a foul.

Speaker 1 (48:16):
You know what reminded me of is that catch and
kind of reception in football down low Osacome. Good job
walling up by waldheist they play on Osacome thought she
was bump left its short rebound helmets. There comes Meredith,
dribble between your legs, trying to free yourself. Good defense
by ceiling. London kicks it left side. Knits Nits dribbled
across the lane, deflected. I think Ignatowski was the one

(48:38):
who got in front. Oh, a tough pass in Osakome
trying to feed Ignatowski, and she went hard into the
bleachers on the end trying to run that one down.
Remember she's got the two knees that have been surgically repaired.

Speaker 3 (48:51):
I hope she's all right. Well she's she's gonna get
through the last minute here.

Speaker 1 (48:55):
Yeah, she's a senior. You're not gonna get her out
of there. Thirty one to twenty eight West Catha by three.
Final forty five seconds in this third quarter, Sofia prians
directing traffic.

Speaker 3 (49:05):
Now Helmus coming around the horn, right to left.

Speaker 1 (49:08):
Nowhere to go out to wald Heights, closed out by
Dykster for the three ball.

Speaker 3 (49:13):
I think the benchminder to shoot it.

Speaker 1 (49:15):
Yes, they were all up Abby Prince trying to set
a screen for WLD heist. Nothing there now they reset
as they look over to Erica Brown. So Sofia prins
around Ignatowski down the left side of lane, trying to
throw it up and draw a file. No, she was
on the end line and West Catholic great defense will
get it back up three with nineteen point seven second.

Speaker 3 (49:32):
Feels like South a little bit now in this quarter.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
Bred has started to force kind of what Wes Catholics
doing early South Christian forcing looks at the basket when
they're not there.

Speaker 3 (49:43):
Well court court pressure.

Speaker 1 (49:46):
Lest Catholic breaks it with Slanger and Ignitowski and it
brings across the timeline. Final eight seconds Slanger out top
right sidey NAITASKI thought about the three closed out by
Abby Pranz now over the sea in London, got a hurry,
lets it fly the runner. T Is it a three
or two? I think she stepped in. Let's see it
is a two with the runner. But how about that

(50:07):
repaid Seely Lunder say Seily London, and that's gonna make
it a five point game as bean to the final
eight minutes. But Gino West Catholic thirty three South Christian
twenty eight fourth quarter coming up next to this Division
two quarterfinal live here on ninety six to one the
gate reb a Bungino luscome back to Crusader Gymnasium final

(50:34):
eight minutes coming up. West Katholic with that runner by
London leads it by five. I think that's the biggest
lead for West Catholic in this game. Buck it is.

Speaker 3 (50:42):
That's how tight it's been. Well, that's the biggest lead
for Health Christian two by the way, falcons outscoring South
Christian fifteen to eight.

Speaker 1 (50:48):
And that third quarter attacking Sophia friends after the quarterbreak,
goes to her strong hand on the left side and
puts it.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
Up and go double street at the free throw line. There,
that's a great play there coming out of the.

Speaker 1 (50:59):
Break, drawn up by coach Brown, full core pressure beating.
And now let's see South Christian dropping back into a
two to three batchup zone at third quarter. By the way,
that flew by tanks for looking at the three against
the zone out there. Brought to you by Kids Food Basket,
our official nonprofit for this basketball season, and thanks to
LEMC we raised with all the three pointers made during

(51:19):
the regular season boys and girls games with our games
of the week, forty eight hundred dollars to Kids Food
Basket of West Michigan.

Speaker 2 (51:26):
Well, if you're West Catholic, you do have the three
point lead, but you don't want to settle. So a
lot of game to play, still lots of points to get.

Speaker 3 (51:32):
On the board.

Speaker 1 (51:32):
Oh, nice spin by Asa Kombe, left it short, gets
her own rebound, puts it back up and end. And
let's see if they go to thirty four year in
the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (51:39):
Well, and they haven't been going to her much at all,
but you're right, Brett, that's probably where they're gonna start looking,
especially those bigs down.

Speaker 1 (51:46):
Low in a couple of cowl trouble boots. You back
in the game, tried to swing around with her left
hand Seedley London way off on the shot at Tipton.
Now reach in foul, gonna be called against South Christian.
We're gonna get Sophia friends, that's her first.

Speaker 2 (52:01):
Yeah, not a lot of players with multiple files for health,
but both Knits and Sophia excuse me, and uh Woldheights
have multiple file.

Speaker 1 (52:11):
Here's what I like. Buck is also with a lexus asacome.
If you could feed the post and she doesn't have it.
She's a great interior passer back out well. Not only that,
but she can also pick up some rebounds as she
saw there. So just really a complete player, still young
as a sophomore. There's the post up, a good deflection
by Woldheis. She had help on the backside but front

(52:32):
of her and got the hand deflection out. It'll stay
with the Falcons underneath their own basketball and you.

Speaker 3 (52:36):
Watch that there.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
Now they're starting to sink some resources in reguarding Asakome
and they're gonna be somebody's gonna be open.

Speaker 1 (52:43):
They're gonna bring in the taller and she's got long arms.

Speaker 3 (52:45):
Abby prins the freshman.

Speaker 1 (52:47):
Oh, dangerous pass out front of the inbounds Ceely London
almost regretted that when Sophia Prinz was hounding Nignaitoski, now
trying to get a five second call, bounce past Seed.
In London's setting, the screen is dykes are now rolls.
Here comes a double team. Oh, she passed it across
but thought it was her own player. It was Sophia Prince.

Speaker 3 (53:04):
Maybe they played together in AAU.

Speaker 1 (53:06):
I don't know. Well, that's a couple of times where
she's been looking for Ignatowski and she just hasn't been
cutting there.

Speaker 3 (53:11):
That's a little communication issue. Sophia Prince spend three sixty
good look.

Speaker 1 (53:16):
Wes Catholic fans wanted to walk missed it though, rebound
ostom it. Now Derek Pyees gonna take a time out.
It is a full time out, so we'll take it
as well. Down the stretch we go with ticket to
the Final four. The Brezlent Center on the line, five
point fifty left to go in this one. It's West
Catholic thirty five South Christian thirty in this Division two quarterfinal.
For the girls you're listening to it live. You're on

(53:36):
ninety six to one the game.

Speaker 3 (53:49):
Into the fourth corner.

Speaker 1 (53:50):
It's a five point game with five to fifty left
to go. This fourth quarter beam brought to you by
Wing Doozy and don't forget named the best Chicken Wings
in West Miscan three years running.

Speaker 3 (53:59):
All those front so good.

Speaker 1 (54:00):
Perfect for the Madesson March and all the NCAA tournament
action coming up this weekend. Two locations of Serve You
Metro Health Village and Wyoming off of Byron Center Revenue,
just off Chicago Drive in Huntsonville, next to Gemmon's Ace Hardware.

Speaker 2 (54:13):
We'll getting to crunch time here West Catholic, South Christian
and a Leasha Dykster with the ball. I said at
the beginning of the best players have got to play
at their best, and right now looks like she's gonna
get ready for a run here.

Speaker 1 (54:25):
Down low there they going to dykes straw that time
going off ball. Great feed by Slanger on the back
or cunt and she puts it up an end.

Speaker 2 (54:33):
And so we've seen it so many times when football
we have the senior running back or whatever.

Speaker 3 (54:37):
You just you go to the senior when you need
it in crunch time, and she delivered.

Speaker 1 (54:41):
I think I'd be going to dykester number two and
asakome in the post thirty fours now, Sofia Prance, they're
certainly going to her for South Christian lost the handle
going across the lane and time ball situation, Katee Seeley
London and Lily Knits tied up and Possessionaire are gonna
give it back to West Catholic.

Speaker 2 (54:59):
Well and there Health Christian really a little bit in
the third, but this whole fourth quarter, uh just forcing
things offensively, they're just not in sync like they were
in credit.

Speaker 3 (55:09):
West Catholic's defense very aggressive throughout.

Speaker 1 (55:12):
Slang of the freshman beats the pressure with the drible
gets to Nasakomei left wing. She's looking for a garden
yeah back.

Speaker 2 (55:17):
Every time she gets the ball outside the arm, she's
looking for somebody else to give it to you.

Speaker 3 (55:21):
She doesn't want to be out there.

Speaker 1 (55:23):
She can handle it, but she knows that's not her
fourth No and she knows that's what they want right now.

Speaker 3 (55:28):
So I'll see you with a seven point lead. Asa
comee top of the key.

Speaker 1 (55:31):
She did fire a triple earlier, but they back off
her with wolheis and why not left side dykes.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
Drop well, and that's really what that allows, is Westkathock
a free out. She if she flashes at the top
of the key, that's an easy pass. Ignatowski got it
knocked away. Good pressure defense by every friend. South Christian
will get after you. West Cathick to be after you.

Speaker 1 (55:49):
I love it as far as the defense they play,
and that's why they're so good with their records this year.
Well and now with no shot clock West Catholic, it's
not going to be in a hurry.

Speaker 2 (55:58):
They don't need to score seven, so they're gonna be
very patient get one of the better shots of they can.

Speaker 1 (56:05):
It's gonna be a number two's hands too headed Toledo
next year. Their senior leader Alisha dykstra Iignitowski now another
senior got in the paint. Nowhere to go, kicks back
out slang her. They look over to Derek pye'es He'll
call out the play. Here's Ceily London watched by helmets
left handed dribble and oh, almost thrown away. Now Ignitaska
has saved because it was gonna go on a bounds
off her leg on the deflection and she throws it

(56:27):
to the backbourt out of bounds on the South Christian bench.
So again just kind of a lazy pass by Ceily London,
not recognizing the defense deflected when off of Ignitowski and
she tried to save it off for leg because you
realize it's gonna be off her. South Christian getting the
stop four to twelve and ticking left to go almost
of the halfway point. The lead is seven in favor

(56:48):
of West Catholic thirty seven to thirty. Boy, almost throw
away there, Lily knits between the rings just his left side.

Speaker 3 (56:57):
That's happy prince behind the back triple to for yourself.

Speaker 1 (56:59):
Oh nice move, stroping the left camp puts it up,
it in and where do they attack again against the
smaller Cely Lundon.

Speaker 2 (57:04):
I was just gonna say, with a seven point lead
the way it's going, South Christian probably needed a bucket
there and they get.

Speaker 1 (57:09):
It slanger behind the back dribble to free herself brings
it across the timeline against the pressure.

Speaker 3 (57:14):
Now over to Dykestra.

Speaker 1 (57:17):
Dykestra watched there by the freshman Abbey Pranz who bothers
you with her long arm at that time, just got
too aggressive and commits the foul.

Speaker 2 (57:25):
And I think they're a really good job to you
by Dykestra kind of baiting her, dribbling with the ball,
her hand closest to the defender, trying to get her
the region that time she gets one.

Speaker 1 (57:35):
I'll be interesting to see if Erica Brown. I think
one of their better defenders is Meredith Helms. If they
don't switch and put her on Dykestra because she's got
the size, maybe not the physicality, they go with Lily
Knitz now the senior to match up with her. There're
Ceeley London watched by Helmus. Now to Dykestra, try to
get a five second call. Too much space just right side.

(57:58):
Seen in London trying to get it down to Osaka.
I just throw it away. I mean, Prince great help
side defense on the backside to get this deal. Derek
Pie is just shaking his head walking down the sideline.
Now Helms trying to finish. No got bumped a little
bit no call with the left rebound and in this
game they've let the physicality. Yeah, we're three minutes left.
It's gonna have to be pretty hard. Dykestra bounce past

(58:20):
to Ceily London. That one might have got partially tipped
as she went up rolled off the front of the end.
But a great job by Wes Catholic on the offensive rebound.
They get another possession here slanger left side Ceily London
high screen from Osa coma.

Speaker 2 (58:31):
Onne South Christian. That's I think the fifth offensive rebound.
They've give up this half.

Speaker 1 (58:35):
Just too many chances for Wes Kathlic friends. Has to
be careful. She's reaching against Astacombe and now Derek Pie
is gonna take a time out. Thirty second time out.
We'll keep it right here. Stay with us by the
way once we're done. But Ga and I'll have the
Discount Door postgame show a live from Crusader Jim Nasium.
It's brought to you by a friends at Discount Door

our Uptown Chiefs Skate Offensive player of the game tonight

(59:16):
and this one I'll select our Montel Construction Defensive player
of the game. But Partner, it's what I told you
coming into this one. I know you've seen West Catholic.
We had that at the end of the regular see
the Mischigan. Hadn't seen South Christian yet. I've seen him
a couple of times. These are two of the top
five teams in my opinion in West Miskin, regardless of
the divisions.

Speaker 2 (59:33):
Well, and they're evenly matched. The thing that they do well,
they match up against each other very easily. Right, So
you have West Catholic with more of an outside shooting team,
likes to do that. South Christian likes to work the
ball inside and get inside the arc. Though, both teams
very closely matched up. And now we'll get to the

(59:54):
stretch run. It's gonna come down to free throws and
a foul count.

Speaker 3 (59:58):
Here comes South Christian.

Speaker 1 (59:59):
They're trying to trap on Nataski dribbles out of it,
skip pass over Slanger, little keepaway.

Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
Here is Buck little to no shot clocking. Now tied up.

Speaker 1 (01:00:06):
There's Helmas again with Slanger Possessionnaro south Christian.

Speaker 3 (01:00:11):
See. I think Helmas is one of those.

Speaker 1 (01:00:13):
She's a pass she's quick, long arms, and I think
she might be the one that they send on the
trap all over the place.

Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
Well, if you're Slanger out there, you got to know
when you get on that island, they're gonna come.

Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
Try to pressure the ball near the sideline.

Speaker 1 (01:00:27):
Helmas right wing kicks opposite Sofia Prance strong with a
left ten and one against Santagnatowskian. Here come the Sailors
thirty seven, thirty four. A chance to make it a
two point game if she can knock down the free throw.

Speaker 2 (01:00:40):
I didn't know if it was Agnitaski or if it
was the other defender flashing through. They did get Ignitowski.
That's her third chance to cut it to two. Here
for those Ayways and Buck, you make a great point.

Speaker 3 (01:00:51):
Wes. Catholic's done a nice job. Remember they were in
some fouls trouble at the end.

Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
Of the first half and made it through the third
quarter without any major files and now so Fia.

Speaker 3 (01:01:00):
Frans hitting the free throw.

Speaker 1 (01:01:01):
Time out, Eric abrona full time out here we go
to seventeen left to go on this one. A ticket
to the final four on the line. It's West Catholic
thirty seven, South Christian thirty five.

Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
We'll come back with more as you're.

Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
Listening to the Road to the Resident Center presented by
MKD Funeral Homes.

Speaker 3 (01:01:18):
Here run ninety six to one the game, Fred.

Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Mcgino buccino high above the action here on the running
track at Crusader Gymnasium and Buck South Christian is seven
to four.

Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
Run there, Titans, things up. It's a two point game.

Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
West Catholic thirty seven, South Christian thirty five with two
seventeen left.

Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
To go off the main free throw in the time out.

Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
Now South Christian is gonna be able to bring that
full court pressure it was three quarters earlier. Now they're
gonna go full court pressure, making sure West Cathley has
to work all ninety four feet.

Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
Yeah, man, demand full court pressure too.

Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
Anna Ignatowski, the senior trigger the inbounds for West Catholic
underneath the sailor. Bucket gets it in Tasa komay. Now
handoff Slanger watched by Helmets. Slangers spins lookout defender behind her,
gets to the dyster cross court. Taknaitaski in the front court.
Now Anna trying to go sideline and flocking. Foul called

(01:02:17):
against Abby Prince. Not a shooting foul.

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
No, they've got one more to give, yep. Then that'll
be the bonus.

Speaker 1 (01:02:24):
That'll be Abby's third though, freshman coming off the bench
for South Christian.

Speaker 3 (01:02:29):
Two six left to go.

Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
Slanger's got an impounds on the right sideline right in
front of her own bench. Get to the Ceilia London.
Now back to Slanger match up with Sophia Prince. Here
comes Helmets on the backside, trying to tire up and
oh Erica Brown wanted that one.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Yeah, well the problem that you're having there through the guard,
you're you're behind the ball handler, so you've got to
do something to get in there and that to reach it.

Speaker 3 (01:02:53):
Did you see what they did though, Helmas was the
one doing trapping. Yep.

Speaker 1 (01:02:55):
Well now they're at the now West Catholic will be
in the bonus on the next Yeah, that was just
a fourth they had one more to give, so they
can be aggressive. Let's see how aggressive they are now,
it's only a two point game. Dykestra, here comes the
double team gets the middle. All they had Celey London
for a layup on the backside. Didn't see her Osacomee
dykester now and I think coach Piees wanting to take no.

Speaker 3 (01:03:17):
They have a foul.

Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
Yep, it'll be on knits her third yep. So file's
starting to mount for both coaches. Again.

Speaker 3 (01:03:25):
I just bring this up because if we do go overtime.

Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
Well they're mounting individually for West Cathay, but they have
mounted team wise for South Christian.

Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
Now West Cathay gets two shots the rest of the way, boy,
West Catholic, if they have to be aggressive. As Alicia
Dykestra misses the first. She has struggled from the free
throw line all night long.

Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
I mean everybody has struggled from the free throw line.

Speaker 1 (01:03:49):
Sixty nine percent free throw shooter coming in second one
on the way.

Speaker 3 (01:03:52):
Everything's a two shots rattles at home.

Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
That's a big one. Thirty eight thirty five. Well, it
makes it so that they can only tie, but only
one found this quarter of West Catholic Sophia Prince wants
to drive left sidne She's done that effectively here in
the second half. No where to go Dykesterra now gets
it back from her younger sister Abby now out top
Helmes kick right side knits for three, no long car

(01:04:15):
him out, run down by Asakome to Ceely London to
a Lisha Dykstra, Helmets trying to get the steal. Dykestraw
on oh and Derek KIE's gonna get a time out.
They're saying that she had a South Kristen saying, how
can you call a time out because Helmas had her
hand in knocking away. I thought they might call her

(01:04:36):
out of bounce, she was close to the sideline.

Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
Well, I think what they're doing is they're calling it
as soon as Dykester game possessionly Out pushed the ball forward.

Speaker 1 (01:04:44):
That's what they're saying is when the timeout was called.
South Christian fans don't like it, but I agree with
you Buck. It was a bang bang play because there
was a moment there where Helmets had her hand out.
They both went down. Dykester gathered herself kind of as
she was sitting down and had a little bit of control.
I mean it was close, because you have to have
control to be able to call a time out.

Speaker 3 (01:05:02):
And that's the argument the Sailor fans are.

Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
And I get where they're coming from, But Derek Pies
can be yelling time out as much as he wants
right until they get control correct. Once he says it
and they have control, that's when you have to call it.
So that's like you said, as a bang bang play.
I think they get it right.

Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
One nineteen left to go Trinity Health the Michigan by
the way, bringing the high school basketball page all season long,
and Wood Radio ninety six to one the game.

Speaker 3 (01:05:27):
That's the last time out for West Catley.

Speaker 1 (01:05:29):
That's a big one too, So I know the South
Christian faith will probably not happy. But now West Cathley
no timeouts. Yeah, so they get trapped somewhere. They can't
do anything. They have to try to find a way
to get out of it or to inbounds, which they
have to do right here. Yeah, they don't have another one.
You gotta do something with it. How about the trust
in the freshman ken Ley Slanger, she's the inboundser against Helmus,
gets in the backboard to Dyke strit Dykestrat trying to

(01:05:50):
play keep way up ahead to Celi London. Let's see
if he's aggressive. No go start the basket then reversus field.
Oh team just pass out to Slanger, floated it over
to Nataski Helmus with the trap and they're trying to
step through it and traveling the call they forced to travel.
She did drag the pivot foot and thirty eight thirty
five South Christian gets it back one, possessing game Busino

(01:06:13):
with one.

Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
To oh five left to go again, no timehouts to
be able to bail her out now. Coach Brown is
gonna call one though, and they heard a second timeout.

Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
Inbounds it in the backcourt right in front of the
West Catholic bench. After the time out. We'll keep it
right gear I mentioned you can go to the Trinity
Health Michigan High School Basketball page. Tons of stuff there,
our game podcast, our show podcast all season long, So
you want to go back and check out a game,
you can do that, plus all the games as we
continue on the road to the Bresidents Center will be
up there once they're done.

Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
That's ninety six to one.

Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
The Game dot Comwoodradio dot Com it's powered by our
friends at Trinity Health improving communities that they're in by
going beyond at their hospital walls.

Speaker 3 (01:06:51):
Thank you so much to Trinity Health Michigan.

Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
Well, coming up, we'll have our Rapid Radio's scoreboard update.
We don't know if we'll have finals because our game
has been flying, but Joyan, I'll have those coming up
in the discount or post game show. Will also have
our jdates Family Stores, highlight of the game, and what
a ballgame as we expected. Third matchup of the season
one a piece they split in the regular season for
the right to go to the Bresident Center and the

(01:07:15):
final four Division two West Catholic thirty eight South Kristin
thirty five Final sixty five seconds. Coming up now, Abby
prins On the imbounds to her older sister Sophia the
junior point God brings in the front court match up
with Dykes, truck tries to body her up. Good defense
by Dikester down low Abbey Prinz and a reach in foul.
She'll get a couple. Who'll it be Slanger and seely London,

(01:07:37):
we're in the area and boy whoever twenty two has
been guarding, it's gonna be Celey London her third. They
have gone right to the basketball there. That's good coaching
by Erica brown Well.

Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
And that's probably out of all the outcomes, probably the
best one, which is a foul and a chance maybe
to split the parent.

Speaker 1 (01:07:55):
On the way freshman. How about that ice water Vains
knocks down the first second? What up coming?

Speaker 3 (01:08:01):
This will make it a one point game.

Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
If she gets it.

Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
Fifty seven seconds left.

Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
Still no timeouts, rus Catholic. So once they get this ball,
they cannot get out.

Speaker 3 (01:08:10):
They have to inbound.

Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
The ball rattles a second one home Slanger inbound to
Ceily London in the coffin corner. Double team gets it
out to Slanger. Now if they look up ahead, they've
got numbers. Oh and Slanger double triple. They're gonna call travel.
She rusted on her hip and back to South Christian.
The Sailors with a fucking here can take the league.

Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
And that's like you said, I mean, Osa Coome is
out there. There's nobody in the same zip code is
where she's at. Now South Station's gonna call a time out.

Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
It's one of those you.

Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
Got to try to throw over the top.

Speaker 1 (01:08:42):
I know they've got size for South Christian Erica Brown
taking a time out.

Speaker 3 (01:08:46):
I think they'll have one left foul.

Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
Situation is we'll keep it right here as this buck
Gino we've mentioned South.

Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
Christian is over the limit.

Speaker 1 (01:08:53):
So any foul against West Catholic, by South Christian, you're
shooting two for the Falcons only two fouls. And I
bring that up. That's key committed by West catholcause they
can be aggressive on the defensive end if they need to.
Now right now they're up by one, but South Kristan
has the basketball Sailors take the lead. You can get aggressive, well,

(01:09:14):
you can get aggressive, but you gotta make sure it's
on the poor and if youre's Health Christian, they've been
going at whoever's Ceely London has drawn and I was
just gonna say maybe I could coach basketball Brett. I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:09:27):
I'll just say, maybe you bring in Caitlyn Adams because
she brings a little bit more defensive presence. And that's
exactly what they do. They bring in, swapping offense for defense.
And Kaitlyn Adams now in chris heely Lund and.

Speaker 1 (01:09:39):
Look at who she's guarded. Coach Pie has given her
instruction you're on Abby Prince. He was a tough post player,
even though she's only a freshman. Long arms hit those
last two free throws. Here's Sophia Prince left side against
dykesterd nowhere to go out top Ooh dangerous passing natask
he was tracking that one down.

Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
LOLd heyst feeds in the paint to Abby.

Speaker 1 (01:09:57):
Prince, goes up. No call. Good defense by Adams.

Speaker 3 (01:10:00):
Now bounce pass.

Speaker 1 (01:10:00):
I had to Dykstra Dykester in the front court trying
to play keep away, but they have to be aggressive
on us. She throws it away trying to get across
to Adams, stolen by Evy Prince. Still a one point game.
Meredith Helmus brings her in the front court and Erica
Brown's gonna burn her. Last time out twenty two point
seven seconds left, thirty eight thirty seven West Catholic by one.

(01:10:22):
It's a full time out. We're not going anywhere, buck Gino.
It's a packed house here, a Crusader Gymnasium. What a
ball game? And how good is the road to the
Bruson Center Ben brought to you by MKD Funerals with
both the boys and the girls. By the way, congratulations.
If you missed the interview earlier from Saturday, J and
I were courtside. Try it any Christian. The defenders send
out their coach of thirty eight years out with a

(01:10:46):
state championship win over Fowler forty nine thirty two. How
many will we have for the girls.

Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
Or we gotta get through this?

Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
Twenty two point seven seconds, let's do Let's do that
first for Wes Cathrick. As you mentioned, they have two
to give twenty two seconds. When I'm thinking, if I'm
Dereck pie Is, I'm gonna baby take a fowl with
ten to twelve seconds, Yeah, because I can. And so
whenever South Christian's coming out with now they do not
have a time out left. Whatever they come out with,

(01:11:16):
that's what they want to run. So if I'm Derek
pie Is, I'm telling somebody, hey, if you get somebody
out in the perimeter with ten twelve seconds left, go
ahead and have a hack because now they're gonna have
to reset and they're not gonna have a chance to
go to a different operation.

Speaker 1 (01:11:28):
And you know what, Derek pie is good coaching here.
Just told his girls you get the ball, we get
the rebound, go don't sit back there, don't go because
someone's gonna be over. We can get an easy leap
thirty eight to thirty seven tim bounds. Happy Prince gets
it there, her older sister Sophia between the ranks. Wats
it go down the left side, help by Adams, over
to Happy Prince, switch by dikes Er. Now they try

(01:11:49):
to go inside and ignat Toski. You gonna be called
for the foul over the top of the feet of
Lizzie Woldeyes. But as you mentioned Bucks, you know this
moment ago. It's not a big foul.

Speaker 2 (01:11:59):
No, it's a tough Onenitowski is her fourth. But with
fourteen seconds left, all that does is risk out the offense.
But you gotta be careful now if you're an Ignitowski. Yeah,
and let's see if they go back to Waldheish.

Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
She's on her bounce pass in to Helmas Helmus dribbling,
almost lost her balance on the baseline, almost lost the ball,
and now it's gonna be tied up. No time out, Yeah,
but is that no timeouts gonna go to West Catholic
was seven point six seconds left and that's where the
no timeouts came into play for South is uh Helmus

(01:12:30):
might have gotten. I think she camped and the nose
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
I think, well, that's kind of powerful the course today,
I mean, not for the fade of heart down there.

Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
Yeah, she took a shot to the NOAs Meredith. I
don't know if it was on the four or think.

Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
I think when when the players went down to try
to tire up ye, either the ball popped and hit
her on the face you know when they were going
for or she took it.

Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
She's gonna come out right now. Well, they've got to
get this ball and bounded. No timeouts, just have to
get it inbounds.

Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
Seven point six seconds slangered in bounced to Ignitoski and
there's foul by Sophia Prince Boy. I think they could
have waited just a little bit. And the reason I
said that because they had her a trappy. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
You don't want to mess around though, because that's extra
time off the clock, right yep. So let's say she
makes both that you gotta get down there and get
a three. If she makes both, I don't want I
think that's a good play there. You get the foul
when you.

Speaker 1 (01:13:19):
Can, but you don't let her get it because Toski
is their best free throw shot or eighty three percent.

Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
We say that, but we've been proving wrong a lot today. Anna,
fuck Tino, are you kidding me?

Speaker 1 (01:13:34):
Off the back heel it out.

Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
You're not gonna let you have any more stats. Ever,
They're just gonna be They're just gonna tell you. I'm
just saying.

Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
I mean, he was the one you'd want if you're
Derek Pie's the Falcons at the free throw line.

Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
Well, now if you if you're West Cathley, you gotta
be careful on the on the.

Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
Miss, no fowls, second one on the way, Ronalds at home.
The senior makes it a two point game. Here we go,
thirty nine to thirty seven. Sophia prints on the inbound
spinal five seconds everyone comeing to their feet, tripling down
the left side, throws it up, No off the front
rim and no gun. There was a follow, but they
wave it off and West Catholic going back to the

(01:14:09):
present center for the fourth consecutive season as they win
it in a thrill over South Christian thirty nine thirty seven. Well,
I mean two teams going hammer and tong, and I
like the fact that the officials let that one play out.

Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
There's nothing there. I know South Christian.

Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
No, it wasn't any different than any other.

Speaker 3 (01:14:30):
No, it wasn't. And I think she gets a clean
shoot out at it.

Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
But two great teams, Brett great finish in this game,
and really it came down to Brett. I just really
who made the least mistakes. Everything else is pretty even.
It's a thirty nine to thirty seven ballgame. Wes Katholic
just made a couple fewer mistakes down the stretch than

(01:14:55):
South or then West Catholic. And that's why Wes Catholic
is going to be going to East Lansing this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:15:01):
Folks.

Speaker 1 (01:15:01):
That's why they were okay gold co champs, That's why
they split during the regular season. That's why we want
to be here tonight for the third goal. Roude two
even teams unbelievable left for to this quarterfinal and West
Catholic hangs on the Falcons knockoff South Christian thirty nine,
thirty seven, A ton to talk about coming up with
the discount door postgame show, congratulations to Derek Pyes, he

(01:15:25):
keeps the streak alive in his first seasons head coach
in the West Catholic, but four consecutive trips now to
at least the semi finals and Division two.

Speaker 3 (01:15:34):
It started with Joe Vandrandy and now continuing.

Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
And Alisia Diikes to the senior comes through as West
Catholic advances to Friday Night semi final seven thirty A
chip off in the Presidents Center will have it live
for you here on ninety six to won the game.
They improved with the victory to twenty three and three overall.
And for Erica Brown and South Christian, what a year.
They just continue to take steps. Still a young basketball

(01:15:58):
team juniors and saw fares all across the board. For
the seniors, they were big players in this as well,
and they've got to be proud of what they did.
They got farther than they did last year, getting the quarterfinals.

Speaker 3 (01:16:08):
They finished the year at twenty four in three.

Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
It's tough when you get to this part of the turn,
and it's tough anytime, Brett, for sure, but when you
get to this stage of the tournament, you feel like
you're so close to getting to that end goal, which
is a championship, and to come this close and play
that type of game Brett in front of I think
a better crowd than we had for either of our

(01:16:31):
last games last week, for sure. Just really tough for
the girls, but I think they gave great efforts.

Speaker 3 (01:16:39):
And West.

Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
I think if either team wins, you can be like, man,
they deserved it one hundred. Of course, they can only
take one and it's gonna be West Catholic tonight. But
if you play that game ten times, Brett, I feel
like it'd.

Speaker 1 (01:16:50):
Be five apiece ID two and the winner is gonna
represent West Catholic or South Christian in this case would
be the Falcons West Michigan. Well, when it comes to
the semi finals Friday night at the Breslin Center, thirty
nine thirty seven to the thriller the final, West Catholic
and the rubber match wins it over South Christian. Stay
with us after the break, we'll come back here with
the discount door. Postgame show, we'll take you through the

(01:17:11):
individual scoring summary. This one brought to you by MKD
Funeral Homes hand out. Our offensive player of the game,

six to one the game Studios. We'll come back with
more as you're listening to the road to the Breslin

(01:17:31):
Center on this Tuesday and then presented by MKD Funeral
Homes here on ninety six to.

Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
One the game.

Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
Back here Christander, Jimnaz if youven me Christian High School,
Bretfikkeet along with Bucchino, what a finished West Catholic and
Regulation wins it over South Christians All West Michigan Division
two Girls Quarterfinal thirty nine thirty seven.

Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
The Falcons approved to twenty three and three.

Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
They're moving on down the road to the Breslin Center
and they will play in Friday night seven thirty tip
off Division two second semi final, and we will be
there calling it live myself and Jason Hutton right here
on ninety six to one.

Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
The game.

Speaker 1 (01:18:11):
Well, we're waiting for some of the individual scoring to
finish up here because of our broadcast location high above.
So let's do this here on the discount or postgame show.
But you know I'm gonna go to you. I know
you've got your candidate picked out our uptown cheapskate offensive
player of the game, and it was one of your
keys that we talked about in the pregame show. Seniors
and leaders need to show up, and certainly number two
did for wes Catholic.

Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
Well, yeah, Alisia Deikscher, the senior for West Catholic going
to University of Toledo to join her sister after this season.
She had eight points a half. I know she had
at least five in the second. We're gonna get that
confirm here in a little bit. But boy, I mean,
you got it. When you score thirty nine, you got
somebody scoring a thirty of your points very close to

(01:18:52):
probably gonna get offensive player in the game. So Alisha Deikstra,
number two, senior guard fors Catholic, our uptown cheapskate, offensive player.

Speaker 1 (01:18:59):
Of the game. Yeah, she's gonna do some shopping on
us a twenty five dollars gift guard for accomplishment tonight.
It's brought to you by the three locations in West
Miskin to serve you for Uptown Chiefskate.

Speaker 3 (01:19:08):
That's Kentwood, Granville and Holland. Uptown Chiefskate.

Speaker 1 (01:19:11):
They buy what you loved yesterday sell what you want today,
do a little spring cleaning before spring break, clean out
your closet, R and cash for your close Plus you
can become an Uptown insider. Get monthly deals at uptown
cheapskate dot com. Check them out. They got great sports
stuff this time of year. Two. That's uptown cheapskate dot com.
So Alicia Dikstra, senior guard, do it all heading to
Toledo next year. But your season as far as career

(01:19:33):
in high school at West Cathoic not done. She'll go
back to the Bresident Center for a fourth time. She's
been up on varsity since he was a freshman to
play in a Final four and for the Montel Construction
Defensive Player of the Game. I like this pick by
you bucks, you know, helping me out here. You know,
it was a shorter bench. And then with the mismatch
with the size of South Christian, the players they could
rotate in Keaitland Adams number thirteen. The junior guard really

(01:19:55):
did a nice job and she came up with a
big turnover in favor West Cathoic in the end that
resulted the victory. Yeah, and we didn't really we talked
about the tight rotation that Wes Catholic employs.

Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
Derek Pye's really six or seven deep. But we saw
Caitlyn Adams in the Skigan game. She came in much
the same situation. A little bit different as far as
the foul trouble was concerned, but same thing like they
needed to fill a gap guard wise.

Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
And with a little bit of height, good athleticism.

Speaker 2 (01:20:24):
Caitlyn Adams did a really good job because page Steely London,
She's trying all she can, but she can't get taller
during the game and they just found that mismatch South Christian.
A great job by coach Brown to tell the girls
and get them to go.

Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
To that mismatch.

Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
So they had to go to Caitlin Adams and use her,
probably more than they are normally used to. But she
did a heck of a job, even chipping in a
little bit offensively, but really for her defensively.

Speaker 3 (01:20:49):
The big contribution, especially.

Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
On the last play that was her going to the
basket with South Christian's I think that was Sophia Prinz
that went threw the last shot there and boy, just
really good defensive performance coming off the bench. So Caitlin Adams,
congratulations are Defensive Player of the Game by Montell Construction.

Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
Yeah, only it's you number thirteen.

Speaker 1 (01:21:09):
She'll be back next year for the Falcons and Derek
Fiz And I'm so glad you said that because when
I was going through my high school career, I was
about as big as page Seely London, and I was
hoping to grow during the game, but it just never happened.
So I'm glad you confirm that that it's not just
me all the way it doesn't happen. Caitlin Adams off
the West Catholic Bench our Montel Construction Defensive Player of
the Game with fifteen years in the business and five

(01:21:32):
thousand plus projects completely think about that. You could see
some of the best they have to offer on their

care of that part of the discount. Our postgame show,

will scoring numbers in this one for both sides. Also,
we'll play back for you our GDH Family Stores highlight
of the game. That's all coming up, plus hopefully some

(01:22:08):
finals with Joe Ertt. With that Rapid Radio scoreboard update,
we got playing games with the NCA tournament and more.
Welcome back live to Grezader jamaz In one final time.
As you're listening to the road and the presidents that
are presented by MKD Funeral Homes Here on ninety six
to one the game.

Speaker 4 (01:22:30):
Inside the nine sixty one the Game Studios.

Speaker 3 (01:22:32):
I'm Joe Aarons.

Speaker 4 (01:22:33):
Let's take a look at the final Rapid Radio scoreboard
this evening. We'll start in the NHL currently line on
TALP twelve thirty WTKG.

Speaker 3 (01:22:40):
The Detroit Red Wings are at the Washington Capitals.

Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
Tonight's second period just came to a close and the
Red Wings and Capitals are still tied at one. The
first four is in action in the Division One tournament
as Saint Francis and Alabama State are battling it out
for the right to play the number one overall seed
Auburn to play in the game Alabama State leads Saint

(01:23:03):
Francis sixty two to sixty. Coming up immediately following that,
North Carolina and San Diego State at the Dayton Arena
in Dayton, Ohio. And other college basketball news, Indiana has
hired Darien Devrees Hill replaced Mike Woodson. He spent one
year at West Virginia after a six year run at

(01:23:23):
Drake So Indiana. Wasting no time moving on from Mike Woodson,
Let's take a look at some other girls high school
quarterfinal action tonight. In Division one, Rockford hangs on to
defeat Grand Haven fifty five to forty nine. Tonight at
Mona Shores, Rockford went out faced Wayne Memorial in the
semi final, who defeated Temperance Bedford earlier this evening forty
two to twenty five. In Division two, you heard it

(01:23:46):
right here on nine to six won the game. West
Catholic hangs on as well to defeat South Christian thirty
nine to thirty seven, and they are going to match
up with Detroit Edison at the Brezlan Center in the
semi final, who defeated Detroit Country Day fifty nine to
forty eight. A couple of local teams saw their seasons
come to an end tonight, but congratulations on a good
season to Granville Calvin Christian. They fell tonight to Niles

(01:24:09):
Brandywine forty three to twenty five. And the same goes
for Byron Center Zion Christian in Division four they fell
tonight to Concord fifty four to twenty six. Let's head
back out to Unity Christian High School one final time.
Here's Brepagita and Buck Gino.

Speaker 1 (01:24:24):
All right, thank you, Joe, appreciate that. With that rapid
radio scoreboard update. Lots going on, It's only gonna get
busier as we go through this week with the NCAA Tournament,
more with Michigan and Michigan State and on our stations.

Speaker 3 (01:24:36):
But here tonight on the Road to the Buston Center
presented by MPD Funeral Homes.

Speaker 1 (01:24:39):
Division two quarterfinal, third go around between these two teams
that split the OK Gold Division championship of the regular
season each twenty one thirty nine thirty seven, Wes Catholic
wins the rubber match over South Christian. Let's take it
through the individual scoring, summoning this one with our own
Buck Gino. It's brought to you by our friends at
MKD Funeral.

Speaker 2 (01:24:58):
Home olsdaishra man I do know something thirteen points exactly,
eight rebounds on the game, and Ana Ignatowski second in
scoring with eight points for the Falcons. Leading rebounder Nikeser
with the eight, but then also Adams with five and
also Asakome with five rebounds for the Falcons, a big stat.

(01:25:18):
We didn't really get too much into him at twenty
six rebounds for the Falcons only fourteen for South Christians,
so that another thing that really contributed South Christian. Just
too many second chance she dances offensively for wes Catholic,
a lot of offensive rebounds for the Falcons, so that
was another factor we talked about. We just didn't know
how wide the disparity was. But the final stants do

(01:25:40):
spell that out. For the Sailors, Sophia Prinz a masterful
performance and defeat twelve points and six rebounds, and number
fourteen Meredith Helmus, a sophomore, ten points in the loss
for the Sailors.

Speaker 1 (01:25:53):

Stores Highlight of the game is going to come from
number twenty two. Talked about they were kind of picking
on her defensively South Christian attacking with their bigs. But
Paige Seely London. What a big play by the senior guard.
Not a great shooting night from outside, but she got
this one to end the third quarter and it brings
across the timeline final eight seconds slanger out top right

(01:27:16):
sideyn Toski thought about the three closed out by Abby
Franz now over to sea of London. Got a hurry,
lets him fly the runners. He got it. Is it
a three or two? I think she stepped in. Let's
see it is a two with a runner. But how

game all the way through out scoring South Christian a

(01:27:59):
bucks to win the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (01:28:01):
They just fall two point short.

Speaker 2 (01:28:03):
Now, like I said, a tight ball game all the
way through. The largest lead for either team was five points.
As I said the difference mistakes, there were a lot
of them in the fourth quarter by both sides. Credit
both teams with aggressive defense, but I think for West
Cavick they just made a couple fewer than the Sailors.
They were able to pull out get that weed erace

(01:28:23):
and then get one of their own and who were
able to barely hang on. But they do so and
they're gonna go to the Brezwan again after tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:28:29):
Derek Pies want to thank him West Catholic head coach
for helping us with our broadcast in preparation night, as
well as Erica Brown all season long as the head
coach at South Christian in her second season. Fuck Gino

pleasure calling you over to the basketball side.

Speaker 2 (01:28:44):
How do you feel, partner, Well, I feel like I'm
done because Hunton's gonna carry the ball the rest of
the way.

Speaker 3 (01:28:50):
No, I always enjoy doing this. It's always a big thrill.

Speaker 2 (01:28:54):
For me to do these because, as I said, we've
got high school athletes ourselves. You know how much it means,
and you know what these players and parents go through
a lot more than we used to.

Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
But it's just good to do this for the community.

Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
And I'm really happy that these athletes get to some
of them get to go and chase their dream a
little bit longer next week or excuse me, this weekend.
So it's always it's always fun time. And boy, it's
just it never gets old doing these games. And but
I can tell you what, we kind of get old
doing these games because there's a lot of gray hairs
after this one for some folks, but a really tight

(01:29:29):
ball game, and it's just a pleasure. And just like
I've been telling you, we've only got so much Mongatil football.
I'm already thinking about it, so it's gonna come quick,
and I'm hoping you would hunt and have some good
broadcast next that's coming weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:29:41):
