Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the WYMA Sports desk. We have high school football
tonight here on WYMA as Lima Senior hosts Mary and Harding.
Spartans are two to zero after a thrilling thirty five
thirty one win at Fendley last week, and of course
they have employed the five wide receiver spread offense of
coach Bill Lawrence, but this year the team is added

(00:21):
a wrinkle using the running game, in fact running out
of the wishbone, and coach Lawrence says it has proven
to be very beneficial to the Spartans through two weeks.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Well, I think it just you know, just gives you
some advantages here and there. And you know, be five
wide because that's what everyone's going to prepare all week
to stop, you know, never always wondering if I'm going
to go to it or not, you know, So it
just gives a wrinkle that anytime we feel comfortable, we
can go to that and just continue to build off
of that. And so the kids get excited about it,

(00:53):
and you know when we run out and we're in
that formation, you know. So but we're always looking for
crazy formations and different thing so just makes football fun.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Our coverage starts at six o'clock tonight with the Friday
Night Blitz, and then it's the Spartans and the Presidents
at seven o'clock over on our sister station one oh
seven five The Big Buckets. Wapaganetta hosting Ottawa Glandorff. The
Redskins off to a two and oho start and their
offense as good as it's been in years with quarterback
he The Moyer leading a diversified offense. For head coach

(01:26):
Travis Moyer.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
It really is and it's our goal each and every
week to try to get as many guys involved as
we possibly can. And I think every one of our
skill guys had a catch last week. And you know,
the more we can do those kinds of things, the
more we can get people the ball, the tougher we
are going to defend. I thought we did a much
better job again, Grandhauser involved early in our game plan,

(01:47):
which only helps open up other players. So we really
need to continue to do that, and really credit our
offensive line who I did and thought it did an
exceptional job up front of given us time to throw
the ball again.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Wapawk o g can be heard on our sister station
one O seven to five The Big buck and both
games can be heard on the iHeartRadio app elsewhere. Tonight
Bath is at Shawnee. Also, LCC is home for Kerry
Big Showdown with Columbus Grove hosting Patrick Henry, and League
play begins in the Mac tonight, including Marion Local hosting

(02:22):
Saint Henry. The Flyers have a fifty game winning streak.
Tomorrow here on WYMA, we'll have a college football doubleheader
at noon. It's Bowling Green at Penn State, and then
we'll have Ohio State taking on Western Michigan with a
kickoff at seven point thirty. NFL last night, the Chiefs
beat the Ravens twenty seven to twenty, a game right

(02:42):
down to the last second. In the last inch, the
Ravens threw an apparent touchdown pass on the final play
of the game, but after replay, it was overruled and
the Chiefs won it. After the game, Chiefs said coach
Andy Reid talked about that final play.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
I was sharing at it. Yeah, I was. The guys
upstairs saw it and so they knew he was out.
We're just kind of waiting after that. But we battled
so hard down the stretch, you know, for it to
come down to that or something.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
On the other side a Ravens linebacker Rokwan Smith and
not so convinced they got the call right.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Yeah, absolutely. I thought it was a touchdown and that's
what they called on the field, and I didn't think
it was enough evidence to overturn it. But I feel
like that'll be something that the rests I have to
deal with whenever that time comes, and that's out of
my control.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
The Chiefs have now beating the Ravens five of the
last six meetings. The Chiefs will host the Bengals next week.
Cincinnati opens the season Sunday, hosting the Patriots. Of course,
we'll have it for you right here. The Browns opened
the season Sunday as well, hosting the Dallas Cowboys. Tonight,
the NFL plays in Brazil for the first time as

(03:59):
the Eagles take on the Packers. Moving to baseball, the
Rads completed a sweep of the Astros, won nothing. Ty
France at the solo homer, and Rett Louder pitched into
the seventh inning for the Reds, who maybe just need
to play the Astros all the time. The Reds of
now one nine in a row against the AL West leaders.

(04:21):
After the game manager David Bell talked about the strong
outing from one of the Reds top prospects, Louder.

Speaker 6 (04:28):
There's no question he was showing that he's prepared to
be here and pitching big games for us and doing
it in a way that, you know, it just shows
that he knows how to pitch located. This pitch is
a great mix of four different pitches, pretty even in
how he uses them all. You know, he's going to
find ways to continue to improve, for sure. Like you said,

(04:51):
it's a second major league start, but to do it
against that team and against that lineup, it's a great
experience for him, and it was a great start for
us and kind of got the ball to Tony and Alexis.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
The Reds Now start a road trip with the first
of three in New York against the Mets. They have
a makeup game with the Braves in Atlanta on Monday,
then three in Saint Louis and three in Minnesota, so
the Reds will have ten games in ten days. As
for the Guardians, they were off yesterday. They begin a
three game series in LA with the Dodgers tonight. Entering

(05:27):
the weekend, the Guardians lead the Twins by four and
the Royals by four and a half atop the American
League Central Division with eleven fifty wyomy spour time, Todd
