Croix Bethune joined the Washington Spirit in 2024 and hit the field like she was shot out of a rocket.  She tied an NWSL record for assists in just 17 games.  Sadly her rookie season was cut short due to injury.  But to put into perspective how great of a season she had, Croix still won the rookie of the year and midfielder of the year awards despite missing the last two months of the season.

Croix is still rehabbing the injury, bu...

At the end of 2024 Chris Young surprised a lot of people by leaving his longtime record label, RCA, for Black River Records.  At the end of the day, what record lable an artist is on means nothing to the fans.  But to make a change after nearly 20 years in the same building, it is something that us music nerds took notice of.

Last week Chris dropped his first new song from this venture with Black River called, Til The Last One Dies....

For my money, going to see the Washington Spirit at Audi Field in Washington DC is the best event around.  It's such an incredible atmosphere, the Spirit staff really pull out all of the stops, it's super family friendly and the athletes pour their hearts out.  My family and I have been to a few games so far and already have tickets for a few more this season.  It's amazing.

I'm hoping to help spread some of the Spirit love and ex...

What a fun week this was.  I'm realizing that if I want you all to call into the show, I have to think of weird and strange topics for you to add your thoughts to.  I tried to talk about the beautiful weather and no one called in.  But I ask you about the strangest snack you used to eat and the phone lines light up.  Same with the scar stories.  So let's bring on the weirdness.  I love it.

Also we had Todd Perkins and Ryan Wagner fr...

It was a slow week due to the Super Bowl hangover and the snow that came through the area, but we still had some fun.  Thursday (2/13) we had a lot of fun talking about the weird places you have fallen asleep.  You all had some incredible stories for me.  Thank you so much for calling in and sharing them.

On Friday, Valentine's Day, we had Justin from Farmacy Brewing in the studio as part of our FeBREWary fun.  Farmacy is one of my ...

We had a great week on the show.  We had the annual debate about the day after the Super Bowl.  Should it be a holiday or not?  Seems the answers were split.

My favorite moment of the week was when we discussed friends and who your oldest friend was.  We got some great calls with heartwarming stories.  I loved hearing all of these.  I had too many to air during the show, so I put more in this podcast that you may not have heard on t...

We had a great week and a lot of audience participation.  Thank you so much for calling in and sharing your life with me.  We talked about those weird things you remember from when you were a kid and you still can't get them out of your head.  We had a good discussion about eating and drinking items at the grocery store BEFORE you pay for them.  And we had our good friend Deep Eddy Dave in to talk about the new Deep Eddy Vodka Pine...

All of us at WPOC are big fans of George Birge.  He's just one of those guys that you root for.  He dropped a new song today called "It Won't Be Long."  This is one of those powerful songs that will definitely move something in you.  I think it's going to be a huge hit.

George called in to talk about the song.  I shared a piece of our conversation during the show, but here's the full interview.  Along with discussing the song, Geo...

We had a good time on the show today talking about the things, or people, that make you feel old.  I shared a personal story that happened to me over the weekend, and you all ran with the topic.  We had some great calls and texts.  Thanks so much for listening and participating!

We love a good party and Brian from BMoreAroundTown throws the best in the area.  He sets up the best Ravens tailgate before every home game, and the playoffs are no exception.  He and his team are set to give us a great time Saturday as we get ready for the Ravens to take on (beat) the Steelers.

Brian called in to talk a bit about what people can expect when they buy a ticket to the Purple Tailgate.

Nelly Joy (Jane Dear Girls, Gone West, High Dive Heart) called in to share her story of being just outside of the fires that have devastated so much of the area around Los Angeles.  She and her husband, Jason Reeves, were on their way to their home in Malibu when everything started.

Their story is wild.  I can't imagine being so close to everything that happened.

One of my wife and I's favorite things to do around the holidays is visit the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. This is located at National Harbor in Maryland. The resort pulls out all of the stops and transforms into a magical winter wonderland. And it's the home of ICE! To learn more about the experience, I spoke with Jennifer Cerasani, director of marketing and public relations for the Gaylord National Resort an...

If you're reading this, Sarah, then I hope you know you had me looking over my shoulder while I read 'The Sanatorium.'

I love watching horror and thriller movies. But I was never big on reading the novels. I changed that over the last year. I've sunk my teeth into a few different thrillers and I've so enjoyed it. They let my imagination run wild. There was one book I read over the summer that kept me from getting out of bed to u...

If your book is set in a radio station, I'm probably going to read it. Radio has been my life for over 20 years, so I'm always interested to see how other people portray it. That's what drew me to Rachel Lynn Solomon's latest novel, 'The Ex Talk.' It's a romance novel with two main characters that work at the same public radio station in Seattle.

I'll be honest, I was a little wary about reading a romance novel because of the s...

Author Lisa Gardner is no stranger to releasing a new book. She's written more than 40 novels in her career. Many of those have recurring characters that fans have been following along with. But, for the first time in two decades, Lisa released a new standalone story. It's called "Before She Disappeared" and I really enjoyed it. I had a chance to catch up with Lisa to talk about the book, the work that led up to it, and how she...

What started out as a way to have some family fun turned into a movement that inspired millions of people to gather around their computers for a weekly party. I had the chance to catch up with DJ Kopec. He's been hosting the 'Quarantine Dance Party' every night from his garage. He told me the story of how he thought it would be a fun thing to do with his family and had no idea that millions of people would end up watching. Now ...
