Speaker 1 (00:02):
Well, you're listening to the Bama Brown Experience on the
iHeart Podcast Network. Thanks very much, along with the Big Puma,
Big Puma, Big Cat. Tell them how they can hear
your sports show, the Sports Cave.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yes, sir, it is the Sports Cave with Biggest Puma.
Our holiday hiatus is officially over, putting back to putting
out episodes here in the new year. Should be a
big twenty twenty five, especially as we start looking with
the college football National Championship Game coming up, maybe including
a team from our own backyard here if they can

(00:34):
get through the simis. Of course, we're gonna hit NBA
and Spurs talk pretty heavy here as soon as football
wraps up as well. So anywhere you get your podcast,
just search the Sports Cave with Biggest Puma.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Big Puma. He played college basketball, so he not only
can talk about it, he actually did it. That's the
difference between him and a lot of sports guys out there.
So I watched the series, and I watch a lot
of TV. You know, I'm sixty six and so I
don't want to watch the news, but I'm watching a
lot of TV and series. I watched the latest this

(01:07):
year the day of the Jackal series, not the movie
because you know, it's a movie with Bruce Willis, which
was actually a fairly good movie.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
You know, I remember it being entertaining. At least Richard.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Gear had a really bad Irish accent, but he kind
of you know, I mean, you just had to give
it a little bit more work.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah, he worked through it. He'd been halfway through the movie.
It finally got there.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
But Bruce Willis, I think that was one of his
best roles that he's ever done, and because he was
totally believable. It was a really bad guy and he
didn't play a lot of bad guys. Well, I guess
in that one he was a hit man. But anyway, speaking
of him, man, that's what this Day of the Jackal is.
I think it was ten episodes and watched them all.

(01:49):
There will be a second season, they said, but it
won't be out till twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Oh damn.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Yeah that for him?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
What do we want?

Speaker 1 (01:57):
It basically follows the same. He's a high had hit
man that you know, goes around and shoots people for
a living, for a contract. They had just like the
Bruce Willis one and then the one. There was actually
one in the seventies and seventy three. I think there
was the original Day of the Jackal and I can't
even remember anything about it. I remember seeing it a

(02:17):
long time ago, but I don't know. So if you
do google it and watch it, look a look at
the series, the TV series from twenty twenty four. That
it was well acted, it was believable. It's dark. I mean,
it ain't no feel good movie but our series. But
at the same time, it whereas in the movie everything

(02:41):
went exactly like Bruce Willis planned, this is not that.
There's a lot of stuff happens and this guy has
to adapt and and he's a former I'm not giving
anything away. He was a former sas sniper and so
that's kind of what his you know, he just went
private contractor. But it's really a good, good show, and
I wanted to get that out there that that I

(03:03):
watched that and that was definitely worth watching.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Do you have the same level of existential dread when
it comes to knowing that there actually are hit men
out there, like contract killers, like the.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
You know, it's it doesn't it's funny, it doesn't bother me,
You know that, because a lot of times it's always
the ones you got it coming sure.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
The same people that say, well, why do you care
about the government spying on your phone? If you have
nothing to hide, I don't try hit man's coming out
to get me. But now I thought that, you know,
you could get on you know, a random upset housewife
could get on the dark web and have a hit
man hired in less than an Hour's terrifying.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
I'm going to tell you another story. It's a true story.
And I've never told this on the air because it's
never been allowed to but and this is a totally
one hundred percent true story. Once again, you're gonna be
looking at your your deal going I'm not believing this,
but it's true. So years ago, a long time ago,
a guy threatened to kill me and he and here's

(04:14):
how it happened. He wasn't a listener. He was in California,
and he somehow in his mind connected with Lance Armstrong
back when Lance was riding the bike, you know, with touring,
and so he called. We actually sent an email out
to every radio show in Austin, and I guess ninety

(04:37):
nine percent of them ignored him. But Rob, at the time,
we were on cavet Rob at the time wrote him
back and said, yeah, we don't do interviews. You know.
He wanted to get on an interview and he had
a deal called Smoke Strong. He was about weed and stuff.
That was his deal. But it was tied to Live Strong,
you know. He tried to tie the livestright anyway, complete

(04:58):
nut you know. Uh, Now here's the part that's gonna
throw you. All right, you're ready for this. It was
Charlie Brown, the voice of the guy that did Charlie
Brown and all the Charlie Brown Christmas and Thanks. It
was the guy, a guy named Peter. I can't remember
his last name. You think I remember a guy's name
and threatened to kill me. Anyway, it was him. He

(05:19):
had gone nuts and so no, he really it was
really him. Charloyce. I growed up with this guy was
older than me and he anyway, he so he calls
the show and Rob answers it, and he said, hey,
this is so, And so I wrote Peter whatever my

(05:39):
name is, and I wrote you and Rob said, yeah, yeah,
I told you, we don't do interviews. And so the
three of us are sitting there, me and Heather and him,
and we're sitting there and so, uh, he's normal sounding,
and then I go, I go, is this really you?
You know? He said it was Charlie Brown and he
said yeah, he said, I did Charlie Brown series and

(06:02):
I also did one F Troop so and I liked
F true, but I didn't know he's on her. But anyway,
so I said, do the voice, and he did it
and it was just dead on perfect, you know, as
it was him. And so he goes, We like normal
conversation for a couple of minutes and then Rob he goes, well,
I want to be interviewed. I want to interview or

(06:23):
talk on the radio. And Rob said, well, you can't
talk on the radio. And he said, well why not,
and Rop said, because you're blinking crazy.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Well he might have a point.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
He went off screaming at us, I'm going to come
up with everyone to kill y'all. I'm going to kill
all of you. I mean, it was like like somebody
turned the light switch on and we're looking at each other. Boy,
is this an act of somebody playing us? Here? You know,
there's somebody messed with us. But anyway, he hung up,
and we're laughing to ourselves crazy and believe me, Over

(06:57):
the thirty seven years, I've had a couple of crazy calls,
but this was one that wasn't truly nuts. And so
the next day the phone rings again. You know, we
always answered the calls, and we answered and it's him
and he said, listen, I just want to apologize for
what happened yesterday, normal calm, and we both kind of well,

(07:20):
that's fine, and Heather, yeah, that's fine. You know, everything's cool. Uh,
just sorry you got upsets or we upset you. It
was just teasing everything and uh, then he said something
that was crazy, and I said, you know what you
need to do. You need to get a nickel and
go see Lucy.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
The just couldn't help yourself.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
That's on me. Man.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
He's called back, he's realized that they were in his ways.
Is called back to apologize and you had to.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Quote Rob Mason, why did you do that? But anyway,
he literally loses his mine and I mean threatened I'm
coming there to kill you, I mean you know, and
you're just like okay. So we hung up. Christmas break happens,
and that following week, I'm walking down the hallway and

(08:16):
I look up and there's an APD cop that's a
friend of mine, just our kids went to school together.
And he comes walking towards me and he goes, need
to have a little meeting with you. And I go
meeting with me and he goes, well you and Robin Heather.
I said, what what's going on? And he said, well,
let's go in the meeting. So we go in there,
and I had no idea what this guy did for

(08:37):
the police, but he was the person that they would
contact when a celebrity had been threatened. Not that I'm
a celebrity, but like when Sandra Bullock lives there. But
I guess when all these celebrities are here, there's always
some nut that wants to be you know, boyfriend or whatever.
And he's the one that they call that handles that
because he's a big badass, you know. Yeah, And I

(08:58):
mean he makes them go away by just scaring him.
I guess I don't know how he does it, and
I don't want to know.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
I don't want Yeah, I think, yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
So we go in the meeting room. There's our manager
and everybody, they're all sitting there, and we walk in
and sit down and he said, over the Christmas holiday,
this Peter guy came to the station and was walking
around out here, even though we were closed for Christmas.
He was walking around and the security guard ran into him.

(09:27):
What can I do for you? And he said, yeah,
Mama Brown here and he said no, they're allfu on
Christmas vacation. Can I help you? And he said no
on he turned around left, but we had cameras, so
they you know, this is the security guard tells them anything.
Everything had happened, and this was him. He had come
to Austin from San Diego to kill me or maybe others,

(09:48):
but certainly I was on the list.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
You were on the list.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Yeah, this is totally true story. So anyway, my buddies,
the cop buddy's telling everybody this and I go, this
can't be real. You know. He also reached out tried
to do something with Heather. I don't know if you
tried to do anything with Rob, but it was it
was It was really creepy. I mean it was really
scary because it was real. And so, uh, anyway, this

(10:14):
guy went down and had found found his friends that
he had in Austin and went and saw him and
you know, I want to know everything else know about
this guy. So the guy was in San Diego. He
had he had a psychiatrist. He threatened his psychiatrist to
kill him, and then he went into Mexico and bought
a gun in Mexico and came back and got caught
bringing it back over the border. So they had put

(10:36):
him in jail. And so this this guy contacted me
and he said, hey, I want you to, I want
you to. I'm telling us now because this guy's dead.
I'm just gonna give you to tell you right now.
This this guy died a few years ago, so I'm
not too I'm not too scared about it now, you know.
And and I heart had ordered me never to tell
this on the air, but since you know, towards the end,

(10:58):
who cares? Uh, this kind of stuff you're gonna hear
on this podcast? Is this all this shit you couldn't
hear anywhere else you can now hear on this podcast.
And I got a lot of thirty seven years of stuff,
and I'm gonna name names just like this deal. So anyway,
so the the cop buddy of mine says, hey, watch
this video, and he sends us a video of this

(11:19):
guy in trial and he threatens to kill the judge.
He's sitting there. The judge is like, I'm gonna send
you to psychiatric ward. And he goes, well, I'm gonna
kill you when I get out, you know. I mean
he's just losing his mind, you know. And I mean
it's sad really that this happened to this guy. Uh. Anyway,
they send him off to the psychiatric ward and we

(11:40):
never heard any more about it. And then about three
years later, so let's be I don't know, ten fifteen
years ago, something like this buddy of mine is cop.
Buddy calls me and he said, you want to know
where your your attacker is. And I said, I'm assuming
he's in prison. Still, he goes, no, he's signing con autographs.

(12:02):
Is the comic con in Dallas? Ah good, he had
got out. He had got out and was at a
comic con in Dallas being people buying his autograph because
he was Charlie Brown. And I said, well, what can
you do about that? He goes, There's nothing I can
do about it. And I said, do you think he's forgotten? Uh,
you know his kill list? And he said I doubt it,

(12:24):
but he said, I'm gonna keep an eye on him,
don't worry. And I said, well, I don't know what
to tell you, you know, don't worry, doesn't really fit. So
there for a little while, yeah there there for a
little while, you know, because at this point I see
him filling out the reports where you know, Charlie Brown
has shot me or kicked me like the football or something,
you know, whatever his deal was. So you know, anyway,

(12:49):
he but then he passed away, which is sad for everybody,
but not me. I was glad that he and he
went away, but I never heard from him mother net.
But to watch him threaten that judge me. He didn't
care who it was he was.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
I'm imagining Charlie Brown as a hit man, putting on
his gloves and yeah, studying, uh.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
You know, and he's got that that stripe on his shirt.
You know, got just see what his and his yellow
shirt coming.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
You know, it would have been better if he had
dressed as Charlie Brown when.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Had Snoopy with him, I didn't have any any of
what you know, I mean, I didn't know and Rob
everywhere we went, Rob wanted to get a shirt that
had Bama with an arrow on it. You know, I
have that way, you know, I'm with stupid kind of
this Marama over there, you know, shoot him, shoot him

(13:46):
in the belly, you.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
Know, looking at us in the water burger uh dining
room through a store. Yeah, make sure you realize I
am not Bama. That is this guy next.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
I've had several of those kinds of stories I will
be telling in the future. If you want to hear
him stick around. That's not my first death threat. I've
had quite a few people hear something and they think
in their mind that you're talking about them. And trust me,
you don't remember it the next day. You don't even
know what if somebody brought it up, you know. And
I will own the nickel.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Lucy, I'm blame, but not the level of death threat.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Honest to god, I thought he would laugh because we
were at that point, but boy, sure the other way.
All right, Well, here's a good one to get out on.
