Speaker 1 (00:00):
Lie Be, lie be, lie b line b h. You
heard the man light the beam. Give it a little
flick while you're there. Welcome into the Sports Cave. I'm
coming off my anniversary, so give me give me twenty

(00:22):
four hours at least. Welcome into the Sports Cave again,
here live on Monday Night, where we find ourselves. It
is finally time to talk some NFL Draft. We are
only three days away from Round one kicking off Thursday night.
Of course, I am your host, Sam Freeze. As always,

(00:43):
if you want to get a hold of the program,
or at least my portion of the program, you can
always find me on x at Biggest Puma, on Instagram,
Biggest Dot Puma, and for your geriatric millennials and boomers
of course Facebook. As always, I spend way too much time.
I ended up watching a video of the Texas Indigo

(01:06):
snake eating a rattlesnake today and I thought it was
so important that I shared it with like half a
dozen people.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
That's you know, your your wife told me that you
are the You're the guy to go to for finding
out what the snake which snake is?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Which? Yeah, unfortunately that unfortunately, when you're raised by an
elementary school teacher, you take a liking to good snake exactly,
exactly exactly, and just being a country boy born and raised, uh,
you learned which snakes are the useful snakes to keep around.
But alas, you can always find me on Facebook as well,

(01:42):
just search Sam Freeze. As always Monday nights, we are
live here on YouTube. Appreciate all of y'all that have
subscribed and interacted. I know Cap is taking the reins
of keeping an eye on the chat for us on
Monday night, so chime in. I will keep a keep
an update and try to stick to the topics. Yeah,

(02:04):
this one, I think Tonight's going to be a day
where there's going to be some differing opinions. It's the
NFL Draft. It's an it's an absolute crap shoot. No
one knows what the hell they're talking about. It's all
it's all projection, it's all extrapolating out a decade worth
of a guy's career based off how we worked out

(02:26):
in the combine and underwear.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
So the only prediction I have is there's gonna be moves.
I feel like someone is going to make a big
move up. They're going to give out two first rounders
to move up to grab Shador Sanders or grab one
of the top d n's.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Yeah, there's going there's going to be names that people target,
and that was, of course our main segment today is
going to be the NFL Draft For those of y'all
that don't know. Obviously, Uh Texas Kid, DFW kid wearing
my Stars jersey. Hopefully they don't lay another egg, lay
another egg like they did Saturday night. I'm gonna be honest,

(03:07):
I'm already We're less than an hour from puck drop
of Game two. I'm massively distracted already thinking about the
Alves are bringing back their captain, Landeskog. He's back from injurers.
The Stars are still in first. Yes, first came back.
So of course we're gonna talk a lot of NFL
Draft in the main segment. But as always Monday nights,

(03:30):
I'm joined by the captain himself, cap Yeah, I'm in,
and naturally, the guy that is actually running things here,
the guy that is actually in charge of the operation LG.
The man behind the curtain from a undisclosed location. Hello,
hey there, it's always a crapshoot. I know I say

(03:51):
it every time, but I just I just kind of
sit here and if he doesn't have his hat on,
he we ain't going to see him exactly. Yeah, that's
that's only fair. But since we are all back together.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Looking very dapper there, LG, I guess what kind of
hat is that we got going on?

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Don't tell me.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
This would be a no, this would be a heavy
metal fitness house shut fitness, shout out and heavy metal
fitness over there off Northwest Military.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
They pick up heavy stuff and put them down. Man.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
They're actually about to a bunch of their members are
about to go to strongman competition in Sacramento.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
He sponsored the what was it, the Latino Mexican the
strongest Mexican in the world.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, Well, it sounds like we just got
our first uh unpaid plug on the program. Shout out
support heavy metal as as always, since we are back
together in the room, we got to start with a
little bit of a weekend recap because it has been

(04:52):
a minute since we've all been together. It actually not
as long because part of my weekend recap, I'll be
thank you to everybody that reached out and said happy anniversary.
I'm always I'm in the odd position. Well, I'm still

(05:12):
in the afterglow. YEA, yeah, no, it's a little morning
to like spectacular. I'm in that position where I'm never
ever going to be the guy that puts the post
out at nine am, like this was the best thing
that ever happened to me. My life changed forever and
I owe it all. Like I'm never going to be
that guy say that. I would say that in person.

(05:34):
And why do I have to put it on Facebook?
Like why not for us? Once again, the wedding's not
for us. The posts aren't for us. It's for significant others.
But I think all I can say, find you a
girl that will fall asleep on your anniversary night watching
Australian League football. That's all I could say. So she

(05:57):
knows she obviously they were talking about football. It's like
rugby slash American football. It's spectacular. It's one of the
greatest sport. Oh dude, it's way more violent than American football.
You need, I would highly if anyone else is if
anyone's looking to add another sport to their doge less pads,

(06:17):
no helm, no pads. So like all of these, uh,
you know, like Michael Dickerson, the Seahawks kicker. He was
an Austine league football player. There's a bunch of punters
and guys that have come over now, even some guys
that are starting to.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
So is this like basically Australian rug because I know
there's two different rugbies in Australia has their own rugby?

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Is they do? They call that Australian football, So no,
they have They still play rugby so that as the
rest of the world does. But then they have their
own version version football. It's it's it. Yeah, we'd lose
the whole show if I tried to, because even after
years of watching it, you still learn the rules. I
think I know what most of the I at least

(06:58):
know how they score points. So we're we're at least
we go from six to eight, that's correct, something like that. So,
as I said, yesterday, of course was our anniversary. And
I know there's a thin balance between being the guy
that puts that post out at nine am and being
the guy that just treats it like any other sun

(07:20):
lazy Sunday afternoon. So I feel like I did my
best to find the goldilocks zone there between the two.
You didn't see the post, but I might have re
reposted something she put out, So I feel like I
get half credit for that, but you just like it
like her post. Hell, I didn't even now that you
say that, I don't even think I liked it. I

(07:40):
think I just did, like, Oh, yeah, it's a retweet
or that's a repost or restory, whatever the hell it is.
But the odd od LG will get you on that
to figure out how to be a member. So oh yeah,
we're still putting. We're still putting some of those details together.
What we really need is just subscription. Yes, if you're

(08:01):
on the page or if you're listening to the audio
version of this after the fact, go go to YouTube
and mad at sports Cave Live. Give us a subscription,
and I do hear LG might have us up and
running on some coffee related purchases. Oh, buy me a coffee?

(08:23):
Are we actually are we doing all? Yeah, that's correct.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
We are live on buy me a Coffee dot com
slash sports cave Live and you can throw a tip
in there if you want.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah, we we do appreciate it. As we Again, I
feel like then now I'll go back to what are
we in? This is week four now or three four?
This is four. You know. Going back to the first
week of us doing it, I described it as it's
like a restaurant opening. We did the we did the
soft we did the friends and family soft opening. Now

(08:57):
we're kind of getting to the stress test where we
let some of the public come in and we're figuring
things out, making sure all of our operations are still.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Got to make a Twitch account, Twitch account and next account.
I figure out how to use Instagram. I don't even
know to figure it out man.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
And and to Tammy and Rob's question about the members,
we need to hit five hundred subscribers and then we
can unlock members for this channel.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
There it is super chat. So until we can get
to five hundred. Until we get to that five hundred,
it feels like we are still in Uh.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
I'm willing to crazy. I have friends who have a
waxing salon.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
I have, Oh we have.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Nobody wants to see that.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
He was talking about what what apps you needed to get.
I thought you were going to say, you're going to
throw out your Grinder profile. How crazy? Five hundred? Oh
my god, anything wrong with that? Of course no. So
with an anniversary on Easter, so there's yeah, there's kind

(10:02):
of some weirdness there, like nothing's all over Aliday, there's
nowhere to go. So again, ask someone who I don't know,
wanted to maybe watch a little final round, see if
JT could get his first win in almost three years.
Maybe watch some NBA basketball.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
It was oh, I made my rounds. I was like,
don't kill my vibe. This is my day. I was like,
this is my day. I was like, I don't want
to hear your drama. I'm just sitting here smiling to
my own zone.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Now it's set up nicely for me because I could
use the excuse of you know, So the way I
worked it, you'll notice we didn't do any audio podcast
last week because I ended up taking some of We
did some of our anniversary celebrating last week during the week,
since we knew everything was going to be closed Sundays,

(10:52):
so people are gonna be looking for eggs. I heard
there also that way I could watch playoff basketball and
hockey all weekkend. So let's let's get the anniversary details
out of the way.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
On Thursday and all the sweetness, the romantic walk down
the river walk?

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Did you do that? What do you think I'm gonna say? No, no,
that's a big no. No, that's a big no. But
what I did do was talking about knocking some of
the anniversary out. Early Thursday night, when we were out
on the town, we had had dinner and then ended

(11:30):
up seeing what you were up to, ended up rolling
up to a bar, had to drink with you for
a while. And this brings me to this was one
of the This was one of those situations that I
hadn't found myself in in a while. But it was
a real moment of a true decision had to be made,

(11:52):
big time. But you say manhood got tested, I would counter,
I'm not sure it was a lose lose situation either way.
Oh no, there's a winner. No, okay, there was, Okay,
there's a definite win. Thursday, We're out at the bar,
meet the roommate, Cap, just hanging out and I pop

(12:12):
outside to burn a heater. So I'm outside smoking, right
y'all are still inside while I'm out there, random girl
at the bar walks up, not like a oh hey
I smoked. Those two are like can I buma cigarette?
Not no, no kind of introduction, no nothing, just first

(12:36):
question out of the gate, Hey you want to arm
wrestle me.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
I'm just like what I mean, not context context. She's
a good friend of mine and she saw that you
were with me, so she felt a little more comfortable.
And she was also that checks out, very inebriated, just
going through a recent breakup, so she don't give too much.

(13:00):
She felt like feats of strength was her like area
of expertise, so she wanted she wanted to do some
feats of strength.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
She really wanted to do some feats of strength because
I so I said no, and immediately I'm like no,
like I like, I I got nothing, like, I'm not
these what's the what's the So if, by chance, if
I lose, it looks terrible. I didn't think I would.

(13:28):
I wasn't too worried. But there's still a rotator cuff
just snaps or something. It goes bad, and then she
just slams my arm down, like I could see all
of the outcomes playing out. Secondly, if I just slam
her down, tear her rotator cuff, then I'm the tear

(13:49):
I'm the bad guy. See there's no It felt like
an honest, no win situation. So there's a clear winner,
politely clear winner. I politely declined, while the rest of
the guys outside in the smoking section gave me hell.
And so then I went inside, thinking I would get

(14:09):
some moral support from my loving wife and my coworker here,
my friend slash coworker, and it was more coworker than
it was. I was like, why don't you do it?
I was like, layer out for all the reasons I
just explained to you. And so what happens. What happens?
Thirty seconds after I walked back inside, she comes right

(14:32):
up and starts rising you, challenges you to it arm wrestling.
So she started making fun of you.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
First well, and then she's like then she's like she
looks at me and she's like, well, I arm wrestling you.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
And I was like done and it was done.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
It was done in I was like right here second,
but then she started going, oh, we have to get
in a good position.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
I'm like, I don't give it. I don't care what
position he won in.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
I was like, there's no way here, and shout out
to my dad.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
He's listening. He has no end, he say, he's watching.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
He used to wear my arm out since I was
twelve years old, going up to Memphis and lo and
behold like I think he was like one of those
arm wrestling people at the bar that would sit there.
He's running get free drinks and ringing people doing.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
The hustler on whatnot. Not a bad bitch.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
So I learned a lot of techniques and arm angles
and you know, making sure you get the risk involved.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
And yeah, she wasn't gonna win. What was the old Uh?
What was it? Was it a was it agull movie?
Or no? You ban damn? Which sweet Sloans top?

Speaker 2 (15:41):
Yeah, my hat was backwards. I stay, I stayed switched in.
I was like, I'm switched in. It's like a switch.
I'm going for that semi.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Yeah, you didn't hesitate. You didn't hesitate to absolutely destroyer,
which then again only made me look worse at that point.
So I will, I will. I stand by my decision.
I still think I made the rack second out. Yeah
there was no fight put up. But outside of that,

(16:15):
it was a lot of like I said, it was
a lot of NBA and NHL playoffs. Obviously I watched
the Stars. The Hawks lost. Yeah, yeah, Spurs ended up
I guess. Yeah, going all the way back to the plan, Uh,
Memphis won the right to get embarrassed by Oklahoma City. Really,

(16:38):
he wasn't pulling out no guns on that court. The
storyline that night, though, was the excellent camera work of
the u ESPN guy. As Anthony Davis is hobbling off
the court, they immediately cut the camera to Nico whose
side on looking at Ad hobbling off. Oh did you
hear what Nico put out? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (17:00):
He underestimated the fans reaction and love for Luca.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Yeah, I've got some talk for the lightning round at
the end, because I you underestimated, like probably the second
biggest player in the NBA that Dallas.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
They don't have much to look forward to. Cowboys. No,
nobody watches hockey.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
No, there's no luc Every time every time they roll
Nico out to do anything in front of the media
or camera, it just makes the whole situation worse. So
I got got some thoughts for that at the end.
I've been enjoying the little lightning round that we've been
doing at the end of this thing. But mentioned watched

(17:42):
Stars Saturday night. Had had a great Rangers series. Actually
Rangers Dodgers some of the best pitching uh in all
of baseball going up against each other. You had the
de gram getting beat Friday night in the Battle of
the Aces with Yamamoto, and then Yamoto the.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Ace over Otani, till Otani is actually pitching yet not
yet okay, so.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
And Otani was actually he missed Friday. I felt so bad.
So one of my good buddies here in town runs
a coffee shop in our neighborhood. He's massive, huge Dodgers fan.
He bought these tickets at the beginning of the year,
waiting to see that, you know, Japanese robot bought Saturday
afternoon tickets. You know, thought he's driving up from San Antonio.

(18:35):
It was like a three point thirty game, you know, Saturday,
so there was no rush getting up there. He didn't
have to leave at the crack of dawn or anything.
And then, of course Otani misses Friday and Saturday night
because his wife had her girlfriend or wife had their
first kid, oh yo. But to make it even worse,

(18:58):
he was back in the on Sunday. So my buddy
goes to the Saturday game. It was a sidick. I
think it was, uh, well, it feels like can they
have sidekicks in Japan? Oh? I think I think that
is that not where the word Concubine. I actually date
back to possibly uh don't don't test me of my

(19:21):
world history. That probably is not even close to right.
But yeah, he missed. He drove up for the game,
ends up missing out on Otani, but also missing out
on the Adulis Garcia walk off home run Saturday afternoon
that spared the Rangers from being swept. So so two
to one Dodgers. Yeah, Dodgers took the series two out

(19:42):
of three, and the Rangers get to head to their
first minor league stadium experience. Now they're playing out in
Sacramento next, I know, sacrament LG's Sacramento slash Vegas. A's
coming up some one of my favorite mascots, the Big Elephant. Yeah,
it's I mean going back to the Philadelphia as years.

(20:06):
But I mentioned the minor league stadium. I know that's
something you got some experience with this weekend.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
How are you gonna rob the best hitter in baseball
right now?

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Not to mention, all right, LG. Put put him in
on the clock. Oh there we go. Put him in
on all right. We got the best hitter in baseball.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
He has a chance to do something no one has
done since Ty Cobb. Which is an average four hundred
for the year, Is it Ty Cobb or Ted Williams?
Ted Ted Ted Williams, my bad Ted Williams. And he
acts he mashes.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
A home run and to be talking about.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
A home run, it's a little early, but he's doing it.
Mashed the home run. They did a replay on it.
Obviously it's a home run. They call it a foul
ball because they don't bring in the right sized foul
pole because God forbid. They had four months reparation and
they're they're playing in our spring training for spring training field.

(21:10):
But now, speaking of someone on maternity leave, Grisham, who's
actually matching, who's our backup utility outfielder. He's masching Goldie's
doing good. We took three out of four out of
Tampa Bay. We should have swept the four, but our
closer situation is gone when we came.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Whatever, that's a shame. It felt like you were felt
like you were just rounding into I have so much more,
giving us some real gold. Well, there's always get a
buzzer so I can get another minute, you know, I
will mentioning the mentioning the Al East dude. The Orioles

(21:49):
team is they got routed twenty four to two, and
there I think I saw their team. He already is
like over six and a half. Yeah, it's right, it's terrible.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
Did they start throwing in utility players as pitchers at
that point?

Speaker 1 (22:08):
I would I wonder what I would assume they had to,
because you give up twenty four runs that that's always
fun because they throw like a like a fifty four
mile an hour curveball that just sits there and just
well you remember last year that was when uh, when
Otawani was trying to get what was it fifty home

(22:28):
runs fifty stolen bases, and they play again, who was
it Florida? It was Miami. Yeah, they were playing the
Marlins and they end up putting in an outfielder to
pitch and he just crushes. So MLB pisses me off.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
I always think back to like giving freaking Pete Rose
the Hall of Fame nod now after he died, and.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
Oh they're not young. I mean that that's still to
be decided. They're kicking in the nuts sometimes when the
Rangers were terrible. There was one year I think it
was Scott Shelton that ended up playing every position in
the same game, except I think the only thing he
didn't do was catch. I think he played everything but catcher.

(23:10):
He played every position and then ended up pitching in
the same game because they were so awful.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Shout out to my Yankee brethren line he was in
the room. What's up man?

Speaker 1 (23:19):
We can't be surrounded by fans lgre What happened in
the world of LG. Are we back in the wild
DJing again? Or oh yeah? Are we back to quiet
her life? Well?

Speaker 3 (23:34):
I did DJ on Thursday night at the Watering Hole
on fred Road in the med Center.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Mm hmm how'd that go? It went good? Yeah, it's
did you get the classic? Give me I won? Four Kombuchas?

Speaker 3 (23:46):
No, no, I got the I got I got requested
to play nothing but boom back nineties hip hop.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
So yeah, that's right up rally.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
No, No, no one came at you with some Drake
or nothing like that.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
No, No, I don't play drake anyway. Yeah I know
you know. No. Only the only Drake that still crosses
my plate is when he's still known as Drizzy Drake
on like Like Dedication three mixtape, when he had just
joined up with Wayne On on Young Money. That In fact, man,

(24:20):
there was a I can't remember which song it was
that that crossed that played the other day, and like
both the roommate and I were listening to it. I
was like, man, I think this is like I kind
of forgot. This is what Drake sounded like when it
first like when he first joined up with a Ghostriders
really started taking over. Yeah, that's correct, exactly, I h

(24:42):
are you. Let's see that was Thursday night. Are we
do we have any update on the potential uh Friday
night meetups? As you are spinning at an undisclosed location, well,
you make something happen.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Okay, So again in the oh you're talking about your
that's right, okay, okay.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
I'm talking about where I will be like watching this
where I'll be watching the Stars game too. After we
wrap up.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Here, I'll see if I can make that happen this Friday.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Well, well, one more thing, speaking of in the neighborhood.
I see it every year, and I know every year
nothing happens. It's perfectly fine. But see you know I'm
right by the Alamodome, right by the parking lot where
the Fiesta carnival is held. Oh scene Thursday, seeing all

(25:40):
of those vehicles pile in and they were building the
massive like looping roller coaster thing at midnight thirty one
am last night as we were driving through the neighborhood.
So again, they do it every year. So is it
like mrighty grod sole vehicles? Uh? Yeah, I mean it's

(26:01):
like it's really it's like the same. You can tell
how many times I've been to Fiesta. It's like the
same carnival that is at the you know, Victoria Expo
Hale in the parking lot once a year. It's just
the traveling carnival circuit. There's nothing special about it. But
every time I watch them build that thing, I just think, do.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
You just sit there and do you just sit there
and crack a beer and just be like you need
a four gauge on that one?

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Yeah? Exactly, Yeah, yeah, like my grandpa just watching me
like that. Ain't that ain't gonna hold that, ain't gonna work.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Need a pair of ice grips. I got a pair
in the coarage if you need some.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
No. I always hesitate to uh to timpt the carnies
with an open container because yeah, I don't think it
would be rejected. I don't think it would be rejected. Well,
the Carnies another weekend in the books. We have been
counting down now for four weeks towards this NFL Draft.

(27:02):
We are only three days away now, coming up first
round Thursday, and then what do they do rounds two
and three Friday, and then four through seven the rest
on Saturday. There's I mean, obviously this is gonna be
our main segment we're going to actually talk about the
NFL Draft. But I'm just not like having the first

(27:25):
round separated makes a lot of sense. Yeah, but the
Friday night second and third round picks.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Well, I mean, how many quality players that do we
know that have gone second and third round?

Speaker 1 (27:39):
The second round? Completely agree? It feels interesting. Third through
fifth round every team has a different grade. A guy
that's taken midway through the third round, some team has
a fifth round grade on him. I mean Fred Warner
was taken in the fifth round, Prescott was taken in
the fourth Mystery relevant one of the person listen random, Well,

(28:04):
those those are the ones that are like, that's way
more interesting to me than who gets taken in the
fifth round. Those kind of play out either. Yeah, I
just the way in the NBA does it now too,
where they stretch out their draft. It just there's a
part of me that missus having like the eight hours

(28:25):
all day on Saturday of the NFL Draft, where you know,
by mel Kiper's losing his mind by our five and
he's how is he not picked up? This guy is
still available and he's talking about some guy that's about
to go as the last pick in the fourth round,
and he's so passionate about it. No Round one comes

(28:46):
down Thursday night, and so you gotta talk not just
about of course, going to talk about how it relates
to the Cowboys. Uh. And it just so works out
with you being a Niners fan right before you exactly
so I want to your brains. We move up, and
you mentioned that. I got that on the notes too,
because it might be the Cowboys moving up, knowing Jerry

(29:08):
wanting to make a splash. He hasn't done anything stupid
in a while. I think he wants the running back.
It's what worries me. We're going to talk about that,
but specifically with you being a and it worked out
until you gave him the contract. Context the argument, if

(29:30):
gent is what Zeke was, it's still there's still some value,
some argument to be made of taking him that early
if you're just going to run the wheels off over
the five years, six years, you know, fifth year rookie deal,
maybe a year or two of the franchise tag. So

(29:52):
if you're getting a guy for seven years that ends
up being as good as Zeke was in his first
seven years, I don't mind that. It wouldn't be my decision.
It wouldn't be what I would do.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
I mean, he could be the next McCaffrey. You never know.
So I mean like, is there a need? Yes, have
they filled that need with anybody?

Speaker 1 (30:12):
No?

Speaker 2 (30:13):
I mean didn't they they have what old? They drafted
someone old or they picked up someone older?

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Yeah, running back the Miles Sanders, uh one year deals.
It was Williams, I think from Broncos. I was always
hype on Javante. I always picked him up thinking it
was I was like the Broncos run the ball. I
felt like it was a good place for him.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
That Fantasy football, which which later in the year. I
am a fantasy guru, thank you. I got over a
dozen trophies on the wall. And of course I'm gonna
catch so much heat from my friends, but uh, my league,
I have the only dynasty three out of four years,
so I'm always in it. They hate me, It's fine,

(30:59):
you know, I appreciate the hate. But that's later, and
that's later in the year. We will have fantasy advice.
Sweet Lanni knows about it.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Yeah, well that'll be once your Yankees minute ends, it'll
be your fantasy football minute, because that's about all I
can take of fantasy football talk is a minute at
a time. I haven't played fantasy and a decade, just
like Jerry No. I think we'll start with the Cowboys
and then I'll get your thoughts on the Niners to

(31:30):
kind of see, and then we'll just talk some generic
NFL draft thoughts because it it feels like this year
there's there's really not that like stud one one guy
like cam Ward is gonna go one one, but more
because he's the best quarterback, not necessarily a quarterback that

(31:53):
you would normally think of as a one to one guy.
You mentioned the amount of differing opinions on the top
ten guys.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
Well you got cam Ward as they called out. Someone
said on his Fortnite profile was talking about how Trey
Burks was a top four receiver, how Spears and all
like he was just talking about Titans. This Titans, that Titans.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
It's pretty locked in. Yeah, it's that's gonna is locked in. Yeah,
that's the pick. But with the after that, I mean
I think Travis Hunter probably goes too. Yeah, and then
Abdul Carter three some order Giants the third. Yeah, I'm
I got them getting Shador. Okay, that would be the other.
And then it's a reach for a quarterback. But point being,

(32:44):
Jamis probably not gonna make the final. It's not gonna
be Jamis or Russ. It's gonna be at the beginning.
But then that came time for Shador. But I mean
that's that's a year two years tops. Yeah. Anyway, uh,
planning for the future with them, But point being, I
think the top ten, there's going to be a surprise

(33:05):
team that trades up. There's going to be a team
that reaches for Shador early, probably earlier than normal. And
then every year, even when you know there might not
be a quarterback projected among the top twenty, it always
seems like a third like last year was JJ McCarthy.

(33:25):
Always seems like a third guy ends up sliding into
that back part of the top ten too. I don't
think it's gonna happen this year. Tell me if you've
noticed someone might fall in love with Jaylen Milroe.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
The second quarterback taken has always been has always been
like almost a fantasy gold I know that just from
Fantasy Wise, but is always.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
Put up Rookie of the Year. No oh, well as fans.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
Yeah, so it's like it's kind of a curse against
cam Ward. But Shador Sanders, I mean, shit, if I'm
the second quarterback man, they've been having some good luck.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
With those lately, so I'm not exactly sure. I mean,
we're gonna talk generic draft, but the benefit for the
Cowboys is if someone falls in love, if the Giants
fall in love with Shador, or if someone else falls
in love with Milroe, or maybe you know, maybe Jackson Dart.
I can possibly see him climbing up there as well.

(34:27):
But some there's going to be hopefully multiple at least
two picks in the top ten that make the collective
audience kind of gasp at the reach or well, I
mean you gotta look the top, which is gonna benefit
the Cowboys because that means someone's gonna be there at

(34:47):
twelve that you might not have suspected.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
You got cam Ward Shador Sanders is gonna go within
the top five, I believe. Then you got Jay Jackson,
Darr Tyler Schrow. You know that's a Oregon tech. Yeah,
got the Alabama kid, Jalen Moroe. But he's looking for
He's probably gonna go a second round, second or third round.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
Yeah, I can't imagine. I believe Dart's gonna be the reach. Yeah,
it's either gonna be Darg or mill Row, I bet.
But hopefully that reach happens before pick twelve, or maybe
the reach is pick twelve and it's the Cowboys trading
back out of that spot if someone is really thirsty
for a quarterback and they can pick up a extra

(35:30):
first round pick in next year's draft.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
So what's the So what's the Cowboys' main even besides
pretty much every defender?

Speaker 1 (35:37):
That's what I like? What's their main need? See this
is a defensive line because Deck's left. This is what
scares me. The position they've been connected to the most
in the mock drafts has been wide receiver. But wants McMillan.
He's a diehard. Well, you got McMillan, you got Golden,
you got a few right there that are being mocked
to the Cowboys. But the thing that scares me, you

(36:00):
ask where the needs are? I think, all right, I'm dying.
I think defensive line. Defensive line and cornerback are both
way bigger needs than wide receiver if you watch. I mean, obviously,
all we did last year was talk about how historically
bad that Cowboys defense was. Yeah. Uh, and then the

(36:25):
DeMarcus Lawrence leaves, the organization goes to Seattle. Granted, how
many more years does he have at his peak or
he's passed his peak, but how many more years does
he have as an above average defensive line And they
did resign Osa Odigi Zua. So you know you're keeping
that's a tackle. Yeah, but he's not a run stopping tackle.

(36:47):
He's more of a pass rushing tackle. He's an undersized,
fat speed guy push push the pocket back. Yeah. So
you don't, you don't really, because that was the thing
about DeMarcus law or Lawrence. He was a great run
stopping defensive lineman. So you almost need a fast linebacker.
I mean.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
The best thing we were Niners were best run stoppers
in the league, and is because we had the best
linebacking crew with Alsier's Jazier. I'm butchering his name, Fred Warner,
and the person that just helped green Law broke my heart.
Man green Law went to Broncos. Broncos going to have

(37:25):
a hell of a defense. They got two of our guys.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
I mean, it feels like and they were good last year,
they were ballhwking. It feels like a good strategy just
to poach y'all's peripheral guys on defense at least. But
you asked, I mean, if I was ranking the order,
I would say, enter your defensive line, cornerback, then wide receiver,
and those that I hope in some order. Those are

(37:51):
the first three picks in the draft, the first three
picks they make. And I feel like this is not
a deep wide receiver class.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
I feel like last year we had a deep wide
receiver class. But this year, I mean, there's some good ones.
So you got the top one out of Arizona. McMillan, that's,
of course what Lonnie wants. I hear you Lonnie's Warrior.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
Yeah, I mean he looked. He looks great, He looks
the part. He looks like a future NFL number one receiver.
He's got the physique.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
You got Golden out of you know, ut you got
Higgins out of Iowa State.

Speaker 1 (38:25):
Not as sold on Golden the Golden Rise is.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
I just don't see any like game changers, Like, hey,
I don't see any LSU players on there.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
I'll tell you. I'll tell you what. I don't see
any receiver that I would be comfortable taking in in
the twelfth spot now, especially because because here's the alternative.
I mean, you just look at some of the guys
that might if you're if you get lucky and someone
falls in love with a third quarterback before you someone,

(38:56):
you're gonna have some names that slide down the right.
And the name to me that I would be hoping
is still there is the Texas cornerback, barn the Thorpe
Award winner. He looked. Now, that's that's deep. Cornerbacks are
deep in this draft, I believe. And you look at

(39:17):
what the Cowboys have, you know they It doesn't sound
like a massive loss, but losing Jordan Lewis was huge.
Jordan Lewis was, if not the best, a top three
slot corner last year. Barron can play anywhere day one,
and then when you add in the fact that you
know Trayvon Diggs is returning from another knee injury. Is

(39:38):
he gonna be the same? Is he gonna be the same?
And at what point is even gonna be ready?

Speaker 2 (39:43):
He jumped routes. He's a route jumper, and that's why
if you're you need a safety, Like if you're gonna
if you're gonna have Trayvon Diggs and give him a contract,
you need to have a safety to sit there and
every time he jumps around, that guy's not going to
the house.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
Yeah, you have some protection on uh, you know, over top.
I just think if if they end up taking one
of the running backs, it really it really worries me.
What would be there available in the second and third
round or one of the wide receivers. I mean, what
would be there available in the second or third round

(40:18):
the defensive side of the ball, because I think right now,
obviously they don't have a number two wide receiver on
the roster. I mean, Jalen Tolbert was starting to show
some signs of emergence, but never he's undersized, and you're
not gonna nothing you saw last year is gonna make
you comfortable turning the number two position over to him.

(40:39):
Day one, Obviously, if CD is getting doubled and you
don't have anybody that can make the defense pay on
the other side, you're not gonna win a whole lot
of football games, especially with an immobile Dack. And I
well still the recently engaged Jake Ferguson. Ferguson engaged well
and a form we're top draft pick the kid from Michigan.

(41:03):
Uh scoon Maker, Yeah, exactly, exactly. We got to stop
drafting dudes from Michigan unless unless that Mason Graham falls,
then that might be your defensive tackle if they can
get it done. But I think now that's that's something
that the Niners are looking for.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
We got rid of. We got rid of the Eagles
guy that we that we spent so much money on.
We let him go, and we're still reeling from letting
are all Like, are all pro tackle go three years
ago that we had the first Super Bowl run with

(41:44):
the first couple of Super Bowl runs?

Speaker 1 (41:45):
Where did he go to Forrest Buckner? Oh?

Speaker 2 (41:48):
Yeah, yeah, Like we're we're still reeling from that. So
I think that is a pick that we might move
up because I think we're looking for I think we're
looking for the Michigan kid tackle if now, I mean,
I think the tackles are deep in this round too.
You got Derek Harmon out of Oregon, Walter Nolan out
of Ole Miss another Michigan cat, Kenneth Grant.

Speaker 1 (42:11):
They're projecting him at four.

Speaker 2 (42:14):
So I think that, like, I don't see, how can
you have two Michigan tackles? Did they just run like
a three four? They ran a three four? They had
two of the two tackles, and uh then if you're
two tackles, you're going four to three.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
Oh yeah, that's what I mean. Four on the line.
I look, I never I never like to be this way,
but the way the Cowboys have been burned by drafting
Michigan guys with Taco and Mazzie Smith, you just don't
want to. I understand on paper, Graham is so much

(42:49):
better than either one of them was coming out. But yeah,
there's some PTSD still there with just seeing a Michigan
guy on the board. If the cowboy with.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
The Michigan guy going to the Cowboys maker, yeah.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Now, I just I think I'm hoping that one of
these either, you know, I don't think Graham's gonna fall
that far. That's not realistic. I think Baron, the cornerback
from Texas is realistically there. Maybe by some chance, Jalen Walker,
the kid from Georgia falls or the A and M

(43:27):
kid Sjamar Stewart. You know, between those three guys, if
you could get one of them with that twelfth pick,
I would feel much better about taking a wide receiver,
or much better about that than taking either Golden or McMillan,
either one of the wide receivers.

Speaker 2 (43:44):
Like they've done it before. Dallas has switched with the
Niners before, because like every need that you need right
now is kind of what we need.

Speaker 1 (43:54):
We need a cornerback too, well, Dallas, we need the
whole reason they got the whole way they got Micah
was pick Swamp with the Eagles. Yeah, so the NFL
is weird like that. There's no rivalry. If if the
trade is right, you know, if the values there, a
team will pull the trigger. I don't think there's going
to be any kind of it. Does the fact that
y'all are directly the team right in front of the Cowboys, Yeah,

(44:19):
I don't like that.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
I mean, Kyle Shanning like like it's a nice little
sharp stick for US fans but John Lynch and Kyle
they they're not petty like that.

Speaker 1 (44:29):
They about they about that business. Yeah, they're about winning,
about that business.

Speaker 2 (44:32):
And the Niners have eleven picks this season, the most
they've had in a decade.

Speaker 1 (44:38):
It's a good way to jump start the yeah, rebuild.
But we have had a lot of fresh That's.

Speaker 2 (44:45):
What I'm thinking we might be jumping up is because
we're used to fifth, sixth rounds and this baby needs
to be like look at all this gold we found,
you know, and all the thing. Like they're out there
and maybe we give them a little hint, you know, who's.

Speaker 1 (45:01):
The who's the guy that you've seen the most attached
to the Niners if they stay at eleven. Like just
looking at mock drafts.

Speaker 2 (45:09):
Right now, we were going after the offensive the offensive
tackle out of what you might call it, out of Texas.

Speaker 1 (45:18):
That was the Kelvin Banks, Kelvin Banks. And then we
were looking at like I've seen his name all over
like I've seen some places have him potentially he's eight drives.
I've seen other people having closer to twenty. Yeah, if
not back end of the Yeah, they got him.

Speaker 2 (45:37):
Uh that's defense on defensive tackle.

Speaker 1 (45:41):
What you we call it offensive tackle. Yeah, they have him.
They have him second. Now I've seen him available tackles, yeah,
like on tackles like the rank as ESPN ranks, and
they have him second. So we got to jump up.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
But I mean this is you got Cameron Williams, another
offensive tackle.

Speaker 1 (46:03):
He's ranked eighth out of the offensive tackles.

Speaker 2 (46:07):
I mean, that's out of Texas. But I think we're
I think we're gonna make some moves. I think we're
gonna grab two first. I think we're gonna jump another
pick into the first round. We're gonna we're gonna show
up both lines.

Speaker 1 (46:20):
We're gonna get an offensive tackle and then we're gonna
get an edge or a defensive tackle. That's you know that.
I would love it if y'all went the offensive tackle
first round because just looking at the Cowboys needs, like,
I mean, they could certainly use help on the offensive line.
But Zach Mark retired, right, Yeah, Martin's out last year.

(46:42):
You know, Tyler Gouydon didn't look that great. He looked
completely unpolished. He looked undisciplined, unpolished, and looked completely out
of place trying to play left tackle after he had
played right tackle at Oklahoma. I I what worries me
the most. I mentioned it earlier. Jerry hasn't done one

(47:05):
of those draft day moments to steal the spotlight or
to steal the attention. I feel he's itching, He's he's
let Steven do allow the work right now. He is
itching to get that Jerry, Oh, we got found ourselves
some goal right here? We got we got some goal.

(47:27):
It feels like it's always a battle between Jerry wanting
to draft someone that will immediately sell jerseys and Will
McLay and Steven to a lesser degree, wanting to draft
the best football player because just looking at the top
fifteen guys available, this is a draft where I think

(47:52):
your best option in the first round at least is
not targeting a position, but targeting best available, especially when
the I mean the Cowboys didn't use free agency to
fill any holes. They made a couple of trades, but
no one that's immediately well, there's not really too many
splashy names outside of like the out really outside of

(48:13):
the top gent. I mean, you take take the quarterbacks away,
take Camboord, Schador away, the only really the only guys
I feel really really certain are going to be stud
NFL players. I wouldn't even say that Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter.
After that, you could convince me any of these guys

(48:36):
are either bust or ten year starters. I mean, there's
no It feels like a draft where you feel like
a lot of special teamer is going to be drafted.
I think there's gonna be some special teamers drafted in
the second round. You know, guys that end up playing
on five teams over the next three years because teams
are just so far off on their evaluations. It's one
of those NFL drafts where just just look at the

(48:59):
mocked I mean every mock draft. There's just there's not
a whole lot of consensus. Jerry can't pick his own ass.
That's true. Well, I mean, yeah, he pays someone to
do that for him. It's good to be the king.
I just think with the more I the more I
read fairly trusted sources and their predictions and and expectations,

(49:24):
it feels like no one knows what the hell is
gonna happen Thursday night. Outside of the top three, I
think Ward, Hunter Carter are your top three picks.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
I think it's gonna I think it's I think it's
gonna be wild. I think there's gonna be a lot
of moves. That's what I'm saying. It's like it's the
quiet before the storm. Yeah, it's like we have we've
heard all the speculations.

Speaker 1 (49:46):
We've heard. Everybody needs this, everybody needs that. There's not a.

Speaker 2 (49:49):
Lot of I think it's a lot of people prepping
their lines. Like that's why I say the offensive line,
the defensive line, they're gonna get a lot of movement
in this draft because people are sure enough, because they
know that's the way to go. I mean, look at
the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (50:05):
They got to stop the tush push somehow, well, besides
NFL making it illegal. When we get to the lightning round,
we're gonna talk about Mike Leech's idea for his own
tush push. The great, the great Mike Leach, God rest
his soul. Could I interest you if you're a Cowboy fan,

(50:27):
But I know that's hard for you to think about.
If somehow the Penn State tight end slides and is
available at twelve, so you're not getting a receiver, but
you're getting the best receiving tight end, a position that
Dak relies on you have. I mean, you have Jake Ferguson,

(50:49):
who's above average, serviceable, solid player. Schoonmaker looks like you
whiffed on him. I guess the jury's still out, but
I think I could be talked. I could be talked
into Tyler Warren over either one of the running backs
except the genty if I mean if if they But

(51:11):
you're still you're still leaving that hole in the second
the second wide receiver, but you might be getting the
slot with you might be getting the best available players
still on the board. And I think that's what the
Cowboys are going to have to They have to fill
their their needs because they didn't in free agency. But

(51:33):
they can't be too attached to the position and reach
on somebody because like I, you know, who's the uh
Amari Hampton, the North Carolina running back. Cowboys need a
running back. I want them to. I want them to
see them do it in the third round. I'm at
the earliest I have, but I could see them doing that.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
I have this strange feeling that they are looking a
year ahead and they want they're gonna tank.

Speaker 1 (52:00):
They're not. They're gonna look for a replacement for Dak
Or They're in a replacement from Shottenheimer after only one year.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
Yeah, like this guy is a feeling like I have
this strange feeling that Sorry, Cowboy fans, this isn't well.

Speaker 1 (52:14):
It was it's never gonna be your year, but this
is not your year. Look, statistical probability says it has
to be our year one of these years. We gotta
win it all.

Speaker 2 (52:28):
Oh man, you guys know eventually Washington's coming up.

Speaker 1 (52:32):
They got the rest of the the rest of the NFC. Yeah,
it's a life is not life is not good cowboys.
The cowboys, if they're smart, they're looking a year or
two ahead. I think if they start looking a year
or two ahead, they're gonna end up looking three years
ahead every year. Like it's not.

Speaker 2 (52:50):
Well, they got to get that franchise, QB. And we
all know that's what I was about to say, because
cod ain't it well.

Speaker 1 (52:55):
At the at the end of the day, you're attached
to him at least for the next three years, and
then probably at least a year or two more after that.

Speaker 2 (53:05):
You got some people, You got Robert up here, hype
on your tight end talk.

Speaker 1 (53:08):
I don't know, I just feel it feels again he's
no brock Bowers.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
He's like, he might be better. Get them, man, you know,
I can't throw some at you again.

Speaker 1 (53:19):
I think he's better than brock Bower. No, but he
might be. He might.

Speaker 2 (53:26):
Now this is when you just get stupefied from cowboy talk,
because hey, Dakota, they might win the championship with Dakota.
They might He might be better than brock Bowers. No,
brock Bowers is a generational.

Speaker 1 (53:40):
I don't disagree. But at the same time, and we
knew that going into the draft. At the same time,
possibly the greatest tight end ever drafted was a third
round pick. So it's the NFL draft. We don't know.
We really don't know.

Speaker 2 (53:54):
And is he the greatest or is he just have
the greatest one throwing it? Throwing it to him and
will put that on TG Tony Gonzalez.

Speaker 1 (54:04):
Oh well, if you're going to go anybody, it's Kellen Winslow,
the original Kellen. Yeah. Man, his son went not Jr. Yeah,
but hey, okay, he liked him some old people, but
you know who, Yeah, that's that's unfortunately all the way around.
Do you remember how much hype there was about him? Yeah,

(54:24):
And if you just looked at it, you would say
this guy is absolutely exactly. He's phenomenal. There are no questions.
He's going to be give him the gold jacket as
soon as he Where did he go to college? I
believe that was the U, Was it not the Yeah

(54:45):
he was. There was a lot of stuff being swept
under the rug. Well just to ask uh, just to
ask old third leg Greg greg Olsen with the seventh
floor carew at the U back then? Oh? Yeah, No.
I just think I threw Warren's name out there because
I think it's a year where the Cowboys are gonna

(55:05):
possibly potentially do something we did don't actually see coming genty,
like a trade up for genty. That's okay. So the
things that Jerry wants to do, I'll take a three
to one on that I trade up for gent Jerry.
That would be a Jerry move. It's a massive overpay
to try to trade up for. Do you think you

(55:26):
have the trade up to get them at five six
five five five? I don't think. I mean that's five
is Jacksonville? Right? Yeah? I don't. Yeah, they got they
got ETN and they got the new kid. Yeah, but
I think if you didn't go to five, I don't
think the Raiders at six would do the trade with you,
because I think the Raiders would take him, no question,

(55:49):
So you'd have to get to five to get the
deal done.

Speaker 2 (55:52):
I think I think the Raiders are going to do
the smart thing and probably go line because they know
what they have in brock Bauers. They want to get
another receiver. I think they're gonna want passing over running,
So you gotta look what team wants a running game
versus a passing game.

Speaker 1 (56:10):
Also, their GM's been out talking about how they need
to store up the defensive unit. How you know they
feel they feel good about the geno Bowers got.

Speaker 2 (56:20):
Tom Brady whispering in their ear, being like, don't be idiots, I.

Speaker 1 (56:23):
Think you still got utsa legend Sincere McCormick technically on
that roster to at running back. But I going back
to it the moves that the Jerry moves. Yeah, a
trade up, like you're saying, for GENTI potentially taking one
of the two tight ends or one of the two

(56:44):
wide receivers, either Golden or McMillan, or the tight end
if he's there Penn State. Because all of those guys
are people that immediately Cowboys fans remember from college football
season linelast year and will want to buy that jersey
will it does do those moves make them a better

(57:06):
team as opposed to drafting Baron or one of the
defensive linemen if they fall. I think that's smart.

Speaker 2 (57:13):
Make since to me with the tight end, you're gonna
have to make Scoon maker. Jerry's gonna have to admit
an l which.

Speaker 1 (57:24):
It usually takes him away, usually takes it usually takes
until that actual rookie deal expires before Jerry will admit
anything that he did anything. Agree with you, Dallas lawyer,
Jerry will make a stupid pick. Yeah, and again that's
why you mentioned Zach Martin retiring. We can only hope that,

(57:45):
you know, Will McLay and Steven can tackle Jerry like
they did that year to prevent him from drafting Johnny Football,
which is how they end up getting Zack Martin coffee.

Speaker 2 (57:56):
They put they put a little Nike bill in his coffee.
He was a little like, what round is it? Don't worry,
we already picked for you.

Speaker 1 (58:02):
It's okay, grandpa. Go go back to the yacht, go
back to the did we get do you thinking about
just the bigger. Uh you know storyline of the first
round of the draft. You think you mentioned it earlier.
You think Shador is a top five pick or trading up.

(58:23):
I think he's a giant. Okay, So just going off
of let's do a little hypothetical. We know cam Ward
to the Titans at one is a lock. They're not
trading that. They're drafting cam Ward the Browns at two.
It feels well, they're going to have They're going to

(58:44):
have their choice of Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter. They
just resigned Miles Garrett to the massive deal. Travis Hunter,
Carter and Miles Garrett. That'd be nasty. That's Cleveland's style
right there. Yep, pound it down your throat. And Abdul Carter,

(59:04):
you know, kid from the region, you know the rust
belt up there, going to Cleveland from Penn State.

Speaker 2 (59:10):
I believe, I believe they go that way. I don't
think they go I don't think they go Travis.

Speaker 1 (59:15):
So, so then Travis Hunter is available at three. If
you're the Giants, you're not passing on the opportunity of
drafting Travis Hunter for a franchise quarterback, for someone, for
someone that potentially could be a franchise quarterback. It's no
one like you're not feeling people don't feel it feels
like a Jets pick. People don't. That might be the

(59:38):
best pick the Jets have made in years. If that's
the case, it doesn't feel like when you say franchise quarterback.
And we talk about some of these most recent drafts,
I don't think the average NFL fan or the NFL media,
or the experts heavy quotations. I don't think any of
them feel as good about SHRADR. Sanders they did C. J.

(01:00:00):
Stroud thinking back to some of the quarterbacks of the
second picked quarterbacks in the most recent drafts. But I
think with the is a guy that I think this
is going to be the second pick, and Daniels becomes
by default.

Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
He reminds me of Jayde Daniels, only like the only
reason why he's getting so much negativity is because his
dad is Dion And we got to call it spade
a spade. If he didn't have the Sanders name on it,
he would be Jane Daniels.

Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
He would he would be.

Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
But the thing is, Colorado got all the hype, all
the all the TV time, all that kind of good stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
But he had the numbers, he can run.

Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
He's got the athletic ability, he's got the now, he's
got the showmanship for New York. I don't see them
passing up on Chador for Travis Hunter. Which is is
he going to be a quarterback or a wide receiver
or are we gonna play him both?

Speaker 1 (01:00:59):
I think you're I think are playing him both, mainly
as a defender. But with that attackingma well, I you
mentioned the Jets, I don't think he would hang around.
I mean in this scenario, yeah, they're seven, but in
this scenario, if you had Shudur, the Giants swinging on

(01:01:22):
Shudor at three, there's no chance Travis Hunter goes past
four to the Patriots. Which is funny again too, because
the Patriots should have had the number one pick in
this draft, but they didn't. Well, they didn't fire Mayo
and let him coach the last game of the season
and they went out there and won it, just like

(01:01:42):
Lovey Smith did with the Texans. But again, yes, that's
why the Texans got c. J. Stroud and not Bryce
Young exactly. So sometimes if in this scenario, quarterback the
second quarterback always if you're a Patriots fan, Yeah, and
somehow you ended up with Travis Hunter at the four spot.
Oh you're you're praising Mayo. You're you're like you're.

Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
Said, I think there's gonna be moves because you got
You're you're going to have I believe, Uh, Cleveland goes,
Cleveland goes with the defensive end.

Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
These allergies killing me too.

Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
Man, You're going with the Cleveland's going with the defensive end,
and then Chador's going with Dallas and then you're gonna
have a melee of calls.

Speaker 1 (01:02:28):
That's when everybody wants Travis Hunter. Yeah, that's when the
trade and I think they're willing.

Speaker 2 (01:02:32):
To give up two first rounds for it, back down
on one, give up a first round for the next one,
just for the name alone to want that Jerry move,
and then all of a sudden wants Travis Hunters off
the board. There's probably gonna be an offensive tackle. That's
why I think gent T is gonna be around a
six or seven for me.

Speaker 1 (01:02:51):
And that's when we get the Jerry move. Yeah, because
the tackle coming in as Jerry does want some glory
whole the kid for LSU has got to go somewhere
in this group. Basically, from four to seven. Yeah, because
I rarely, rarely in the NFL drafts does a you know,
foundational offensive tackle not go in the top ten, Like

(01:03:15):
I can't think of the last draft where there wasn't.

Speaker 2 (01:03:17):
Because that's where I think that's the most important position is.

Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
I see the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
I can see the Patriots moving down a spot or
two to get the offensive tackle.

Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
Yeah, to take Will Campbell from LSU. That's a Patriot move,
and then you pick up some assets later on in
the draft. Yeah. I think just the amount of you know,
the chador is the biggest piece I think in all
of it, because if a team falls in love with
him and takes him in the top five or even
the top ten, someone's going to be available at eleven

(01:03:52):
and twelve that you wouldn't have expected. Yeah, And that's.

Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
That's why I think a lot of it because it's
so deep on tacks, defensive, offensive edge, Like there's gonna
be some gold like down there at the there's gonna
be some goal for US Niners down there at eleven
unless we have to move up one or two spots,
or if there's so many crazy moves, we can move
back a spot and get a third rounder.

Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
Yeah. See that's where I think. I think the Cowboys
are probably gonna sniff around at trading up. But if
you asked me what was more likely them trading up
or them trading back, I bet it. I bet it's
a trade back. Yeah, because think about it this way.
I mean, ceedee lamb was CD was what a sixteenth
overall eighteenth somewhere somewhere mid teens. I thought he was

(01:04:43):
a top ten Now, no, seventeenth. I was right. I
was on both sides of it was who was the
number one pick? It was the number Yeah, I remember
that because I was COVID. Yeah, and that was That's
exactly what it was. When he stole the phone, his
burner phone from his girlfriend. You better give me that.
So I bring that up just to say in that draft,

(01:05:05):
when CD was available at seventeen, I felt so much
better about the Cowboys taking him than I would them
taking either of the receivers at twelve. Yeah. But if
they trade back and then one of those receivers is
available there at seventeen or eighteen after they trade back,

(01:05:27):
I'm back interested in the wide receiver. Now, granted, I
think that would lead to the bigger conversation in five
years of let's compare what was available there at twelve
that you traded back out of versus whatever wide receiver
or whoever you take with that pick that you trade
back for. But it feels like that if you were

(01:05:49):
asking me to put money on what I would expect
the Cowboys to do. I don't think they pick at twelve.
I think there's a chance they move on, but I
think the better chances they moved back.

Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
Oh, that's gonna be interesting one because I think I
think we're gonna get a Jerry move this year.

Speaker 1 (01:06:07):
Again, We're we're long overdue. You have anything else on
the NFL Draft? Anything else jumping out? You mentioned the quarterbacks.
That was the only other note I had. It is
a week a quarterbacks? Yeah, yeah, Like basically it's the
three quarterbacks war. It's not a Chor Dart. How much

(01:06:29):
that you haven't Jackson Dart. I got a second or
third rounder and right, and he's gonna end up going
first round. But then you got probably the Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
Who was about to go, you know, to the second
round until Baltimore picked him up. And what was it
the old saw meme Old Larry David called the huge
Jets fan.

Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
Oh yeah, you call called the Jets and said you
better pick up Lamar Jackson. You should have listened to
the Great Layer as as is usually the case. One
thing on the quarterbacks we mentioned talking about how bad
of a class it is. It's kind of crazy to

(01:07:12):
me with all of the hype he had in high school.
You know, he had the best recruiting grade tied with
Vince Young and Andrew Luck and rivals grading services. Quinn
yours is an afterthought in this draft because he gets hurt.
He's always hurt. I think it's I think it's that yeah,

(01:07:35):
and the lack of mobility. I mean, it didn't look
like he was it didn't look like his h He's
a backup, I see. I can see himbing career backup,
and he's probably gonna be the sixth quarterback taken. I mean,
he's probably your guy right after all the ones we listed.
I think I'm all the way down to eight right now.

(01:07:56):
I mean, at that point, you're getting into like him.
Dylan Gabriel from Oregon, maybe the Ohio State kid.

Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
Howard Sweet undersized Brock, Nathaniel Perdy. I do not do
not quote me on that middle name.

Speaker 1 (01:08:13):
But yeah, let's let's just run with it. That's it fits.
If I ask you who do you have more faith
in being the best quarterback in this class? Cam Ward
or anybody else, I'll give you the field, every other
quarterback that's drafted this week or cam Ward.

Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
I think cam Ward has the best shot of becoming
the better quarterback over time. But he's going to have
a bryce young experience because they do not have any
It's an empty cupboard, you know what I'm saying. They
don't have anything. So he's going to be hamstrung. And
then you got Chador going. I'm calling it to the giants.

(01:08:55):
Got my league neighbors, one of the great like that
guy was Stud, Yeah, Stud. And then I mean the
running game. He can create the running game because they
can just do an option like they do with Lamar
and Jaden, you know, just do the option and the
running back is going to get some holes and they

(01:09:15):
could pick up like what's old buddy out of Arizona State,
what's his name? Ocat pick him up? Look, go pick
him up. In the third second.

Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
This is not me falling in love with the great
White Hope running back. This is not paying at all.
Peyton hillis almost died on us a couple of years ago.
Oh yeah, yeah he survived, thank goodness. But I kind
of think Skataboo might be good. I kind of like
he measured out well. Yeah, he's got hands. Yeah, I

(01:09:46):
think you can.

Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
Tell he's got hard after that that player that playoff game.

Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
Man, Yeah, I think there if you if you told
me the Cowboys took him in the fourth.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
Man, they're not going to take another little you know,
because they took Deuce Vaughan.

Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
They would catch so much scatter. But yeah, he's so
much Deuce Vaughan is. Deuce Vaughn is like someone Duce
Vaughn's like someone Mike Leach wanted to throw over the line. Yeah, god,
oh man, if you're asking me, I would take the field.
I think I think cam Ward isn't enough of a

(01:10:21):
no question one to one that it Honestly, I could
see this could be a draft like like the Dak Draft.
This could be one where Dylan Gabriel goes in the
fourth round and he's the best quarterback in the class.

Speaker 2 (01:10:34):
Because the starter gets hurt and they throw him in
and they don't have film tape on him yet.

Speaker 1 (01:10:39):
And they're yeah, exact, because I mean, Gabriel can spin it.
Someone like that, or I don't think it's gonna be Quinn,
but someone like that. Someone who ends up one of
these guys that ends up getting taken in the third
or fourth round end up being the best quarterback in
the class, probably more because of fit and where they
ended up versus actual skill. Well, we are running up

(01:11:01):
against it. We're already twenty minutes into the Stars game.
I let the record show I haven't don't run a
score in the chat. I haven't. I haven't had it.
I've been fighting there. Yeah, buy us a coffee and
give me the Stars score. LG. What's that website again?

Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
That would be by me acoffee dot com, slash sports
Cave Live.

Speaker 1 (01:11:24):
There it is. Do you have the lightning around? Do
we have a sounder or we have any graphics? Or
am I just gonna have to go ship? Yeah? Yeah,
you're just gonna have to Okay, we can do we
can do our own intermissions. That's a good one to
start with. We'll close it out with some quick hitters here, WrestleMania.
There you go, WrestleMania. John Cena one he tried to

(01:11:49):
get what is happening right now? Dusty Rhodes? What me
talking about WrestleMania? Cody Roads? Cody Roads? I don't know. Okay, No,
I couldn't tell if you were I did? I did
watch it? I did watch Okay? That was that was
my first question? Did any did anyone under this roof
watch wrestle me? I watched because I was bored to hell?

(01:12:09):
But are we talking? You watched all weekend? I fast
forward through it. I saw what was it?

Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
The tribal leader, uh, the manager basically turned on everybody
and let old buddy win.

Speaker 1 (01:12:22):
See.

Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
I don't know any names. I try to get my
buddy Sean to give me a rundown.

Speaker 1 (01:12:27):
You know what happened. I don't remember any of the names,
but Cody Rhodes, he had a chance to be.

Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
The villain, and then all the drama, and then of
course John Cena kicks him in the crotch again, and
then boom Sna wins his seventeenth and on the eighteenth
world title, which eclipsed the great Rick Flair.

Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
Look, I loved the Generation X Yeah as a kid, Yeah,
that was my that was my jam love stone cold
catching beers and chugging him. I loved it. All that
was to got some fans. I didn't watch a second
of this this weekend, but I did. I did see.
I did see stone cars. I see the lady like
completely acting like she had been wiped out by his

(01:13:11):
four wheeler. I saw that he was having so much
fun driving that four wheeler around.

Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
He drove around the ring like eight times as he should.
He put on his face.

Speaker 1 (01:13:21):
The way I LG. Did you watch any of it? Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
Hell know?

Speaker 1 (01:13:26):
Okay, there we go. The way I saw any of
it was my you know, social media feeds were pretty
much fifty to fifty split of half the people being like,
oh my god, this is awesome and the other fifty
percent being like, I can't believe people still watch this
in twenty twenty five. Yeah, so for the cultural Cody

(01:13:49):
Roads lost. But John Cole with the lightning give us
that interstitial all right? Next one, should we talk to
Mike Leach? Are we sure confirm? I mean I saw
it on the internet, so it's got to be true. Okay, Right,
We'll go with that until we get sued. The best

(01:14:10):
had one of the best headlines I read all of
last week was I don't even know where it started
or who threw it out there. I just saw myself.
Someone suggested that Mike Leach once wanted to throw to
get a little person on the football.

Speaker 2 (01:14:25):
Team and throw them over for the one yard and
then use them at the goal line to just chunk
them over the offensive one and he had to be
talked down from it, like literally, he probably wrote that up.

Speaker 1 (01:14:35):
Thought it was like, I'm the mad genius. I'm cooking.
Any other coach in America I would immediately say, there's
no chance that happened. But Mike Leach, the genius and
greatness that was Mike Leach. Imagine locking the little person
in the tools in the equipment like he did. Craig

(01:14:56):
James's a while I gain any other coach I wouldn't have.
This feels this sounds like something they did back in
like nineteen twenties baseball, where you just found the shortest
person you could hit and they hit lead off, so
you can throw Deuce Vaughan over the pile. Combat come here,

(01:15:18):
the late great Larry Lacewell, as Jerry Wants affectionately referred
to as a midget. All right, hit me with the
lightning next one we mentioned, we're not gonna spend a
lot of time on it. You mentioned the Nico Harrison
press conference, So oh yeah, they do the behind closed doors,

(01:15:40):
invite only roundtable as they called it. Uh and that
went over about as well as a turd and a
punch bowl. And so then today they do an actual
live press conference for the cameras, open to all DFW media.
And let me remind you, it's the first open press
conference has done since the trade Dallas. The only one

(01:16:04):
he did. They were in Cleveland, which ironically has the
largest Slovenian population in America. Uh. And they were in Cleveland,
where Luca gets massive crowds. So that's where he did
his only press conference to his phone when the news. Yeah,
and Luca did the interview with Malika Andrews the Nico thing.

(01:16:24):
He's like, I got to pay all those taxes in California.
Now all of the headlines coming out of it. Like
one of the reporters asked him, when you hear crowds
chanting fire Nico, one, how does that feel? And two
why should they not fire you? And his response with
no no sense of irony or self retrospection or anything. Uh,

(01:16:50):
it was well, I feel like I'm doing a good job,
so why would they fire me? And then when asked
about did you miss uh, did you miss judge how
important Luca was to the MAVs fan base and to
the city of Dallas, and he's said he said that
was that was the one time, which is a again
it's a it's a that's a fireable offense of that

(01:17:13):
of the previous dozen fireable offenses.

Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
To sign off on it, you know what I'm saying.
So he got mad like negotiating skills.

Speaker 1 (01:17:21):
But the whole thing is, the whole thing is is
sour for years now. I mean for the rest of
the Western Conference. Enjoy the MAVs becoming irrelevant in in
two or three years, because that's where it's headed. Give
me a sounder lg uh So. First of all, condolences

(01:17:44):
to the Pope Catholics everywhere. Yes, yes, yes, a man
of faith. Second of all, he wasn't a fan of
the Second of all, whoever jd Vance meets with next,
just be prepared. Yeah, don't touch the trophy. It was
the Ohio State football team where he broke the College

(01:18:05):
Football Championship trophy. Then he meets with the Pope and
hours later the guy's dead. He's got the black handed death.
They say death comes in threes. So all I'm saying is,
if you have a meeting lined up with our VP,
watch out, be careful. Sounder LG. Another one not death,

(01:18:27):
thank god, but Pop had another medical emergency feigning at
Ruth Chris Man.

Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
I hope, like they said, everything was all right, But
I do not see him coaching next year.

Speaker 1 (01:18:39):
Yeah, I mean, obviously the concern first and foremost is
the healthy and a very distant second is what do
the Spurs do now? Because yeah, I mean, the retirement
is pending. It has to be. It just has to be.
He loves I mean his wife, she passed.

Speaker 2 (01:18:56):
I mean, I get he's a very foodie. He loves
go out and drink a glass some wine.

Speaker 1 (01:19:00):
Oh yeah, he's always out in uh in Southwan. We've
seen him multiple times sitting at the bar eating dinner.

Speaker 2 (01:19:07):
He doesn't want he doesn't want to retire. He doesn't
want to, you know, stop moving and like getting it?

Speaker 1 (01:19:12):
Can I, Pop? Can I interest you in a front
office role? Can I interest you in just doing the
president of basketball operations side of your job? Just be
hand in hand show Brian Right, teach Brian Right, the power,
the ways of the force, like do bring Becky Hannon. Uh,
let's not get crazy. We there there are multiple names

(01:19:36):
that I would jump to before that, uh that actually
have NBA coaching experience that some should still be I
mean as a head coach, like, Okay, we're not going down,
but I think that Pop's not going to do He's
not going to sign the one day contract to retire.

(01:19:56):
He's not going to coach one game next year and
then retire.

Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
I think I think that farewell ceremony that they do
is about to go, is about to go as fast
as Tim duncans.

Speaker 1 (01:20:07):
Yeah, yeah, pretty much. We got a short ten here.
Let's let's wrap it up again. The one thing I
will say though, is I hate seeing that news being broke.
So it happened on a Tuesday, and then we get
the Friday news dump from TMZ and it's the most

(01:20:27):
trusted source in news that it's popped. So for three days,
like people in the city knew that happened and obviously
didn't disclose it for out of respect or out of
fearing from the organization. Yeah, there's there's a balance. You
were respected with me. There's definitely a bout. I just

(01:20:49):
hate seeing iron news first being reported by TMZ. That's
never to never, what's exactly Give me a sounder, LG
more before we get out of here. Either of you
boys tuned into the F one season this year Formula one? Oh?
Absolutely not. Yeah, I didn't figure. I figured you probably

(01:21:10):
watched more wrestling this weekend than Formula one. The only
wrestling I'm gonna watch all year. So give me thirty
seconds to convince you that you should check it out.
All right, it's the first year in a decade where
every weekend you don't know who the winner is going
to be. All of the car, there's not a dominant car.

(01:21:32):
There's not a dominant driver.

Speaker 2 (01:21:34):
A year ever where I thought I know one's gonna be.
So yes, No, you did not convince you could. Usually
don't know who the winner is gonna be.

Speaker 1 (01:21:41):
Who's driving besides dant Patrick? No, no, Danica, Yeah, it's
not in the cause the only person or the old
at the dirt track. Uh, you could have said it
in the past. It was either Verstapping for a few years,
it was Hamilton for a few years, or even Vettel
before that. But this year. You had Piastre win over

(01:22:05):
the weekend he wins in Jetta. It's a wide open competition.
I am who's got the points? Guys driving two hundred
miles an hour and doing twenty three twenty fours on
the track. Okay, that's fair. Sounder one more and we'll
get out of here. Lastly, man, these lightless Lightning round
has been heavy on health updates. Shout out to my

(01:22:28):
good buddy and a guy that a lot of y'all
listening have spent a lot of time and money at
his establishments here in town. Good buddy Aaron Pina, owner
of a more eternal owner, former owner of the Squeeze
Box before the city absolutely screwed over the business owners

(01:22:50):
on the strip and tried to it just didn't do
a whole lot to help film as they did a
lot of construction over there. Also owner there in Southtown.
He's got the bar that was just named Bar of
