the history of the thoroughbred industry.

Speaker 2 (03:42):

halfletes now line from Kentucky's Bluegrass region. Here's Ursul.

Well, good morning everyone, and we were back at see
Thoroughbreds Penner this morning after a little I hattle blow
that went through last weekend and we did to stay
do it to show from home, but Michael blowing's with
us and Michael, do you have any damage if over
there at the Old Friends.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Yeah, trees and a couple of planks, but no worse
got hurt. Everybody's fine. It's unbelievable how fast our crew
cleans everything up. It's just unbelievable. Didn't lose power, everybody's
everybody's stablished.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
We had a great week.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Good, that's great.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
We lost.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
A section of the barn roof. You know those ten pieces,
they're about three feet by what twenty eighteen twenty, Yeah,
just one of those, one of the bottom ones, because
the wind was coming from a totally different direction than
he usually does, so that just gets taxed.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
The horses. We've got a bunch of brood mares turned
out right, next to us, and I guess that they
look it to me pregnant.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
They ain't, huh, they look they don't look none of
them look good.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
It's just well, that's right. Yeah, there's there hour break.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Yeah, I think anyway with doing all that storm and
everything is out there graving.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Yeah, it was just blowing like mad and you look
over there and their heads are down and their graves.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
Same thing with us.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
I mean some of the horses went in there running
sheds a few, yeah, because that's what they like to
do when it gets wet. Yeah, they hate the wet,
so they get in their shed. But the rest of
them did it. We didn't lose a shed, noing the
sheds blow over nothing.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
That's great.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
The smart horse we could learn a lot from them. Still.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Yeah, I saw where the big tree down at that
entrance that Keenland went down.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
You know, when you drive up, you go oh yeah,
because you didn't really think about it before until it's gone.
And then one hundred and something year old tree right
out in front of the high school Bourbon County.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
That was a shock because that you know.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
It was a cordous Pretty soon it's going to blow
us over. To Yeah, exactly all right, but no, we
didn't lose any horses. All the horses seemed to come
out of it really nicely. And of course the big
news is we just got two great new horses. We
got Cosmic one's first baby, who looks just like her
even does the dance.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Yeah, I saw that on.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
No.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
Well, well we got Big Brown that was named after Russy,
you know, finally nave doors after Russ Big Brown. But yeah,
we got Big Brown. Let's see, well two, but you
know we had we've had, we've owned five who got

(06:48):
out and have another. Yeah, so it's you got three? Yeah, three,
I can't count.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Yeah, that's wonderful.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Yeah, I had war emblem and charismatic.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Yeah, unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
That's and we have Medina Spirit. He comes for half
of one.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
And then you've got my two dragging it down.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
So they're doing great.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
They're doing everybody.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
This is so cool.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
We got a report card from old friends on our
two over there. Beautiful picture whoever took it's gorgeous. The
colors are beautiful. And then on the right hand side
of the envelope it's their report card and it goes
down with you know when they got their feet done

(07:35):
and blah blah blah, and it goes down. It says
does it say feed? What does it say how much
it costs you? No, it's just talking about feed and
they their feed's fine, you know it's not.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Those little horses need a special feed and these two don't.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Yeah, that was but it was such a cute idea,
Barbara Fossam's idea. There's a great idea. Yeah, so fun.
She does a great job. It was amazing, she and
Antonio and everybody else. Everybody's everybody does a good job
over there. Well you have everything improves And John took
over and he got married yesterday.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
I know he's not here today. It's unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
I said, I'll go in for you. Yeah, well there
you go.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Where'd they get married?

Speaker 4 (08:25):
Where'd they get married? At the cathedral downtown Lexington? The
reception of the country club you go to, Well, yours,
we have a I have a different place of worship,
that's what you call.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
So Millie had to have been in the wedding.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Was she the Well I didn't get to go. I
was planning to go, and I really wanted to go,
and I really wanted to go to the reception dancing
in Lexington, you know, but what the country club and everything,
but we got we got backed up. So we're sold
out of tours like forever. And ever since Big Brown
and Cosmic One got there, all the people are coming back.

(09:03):
It had been earlier because they want to see them,
and so the tours had just filled up and build up,
filled up. And then Anne Anne Holbrook who owns Zegnata,
came to see Cosmic One, so we wanted to be there.
And Ron Moquette came to see Seek Gold See Gold
still going you imagine, I think he's the one.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
He one?

Speaker 4 (09:26):
Uh put Ron on the map that horse Sea Gold.
Ron donated some cash too. That was great. He was
great seeing him and his family and his friends and everything.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
That's wonderful.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
So it was very very busy yesterday and I couldn't
I couldn't get away. I couldn't shower in time to
get over to festivities. But I can't wait to see
John and Janet. They're going on their honeymoon to Cape cot.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Oh what's that right?

Speaker 4 (09:49):
So I gave him some tips and oh yeah, I
gave him some tips.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Where the bookie is and all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Well, keep it's confidential.

Speaker 1 (09:57):

Speaker 6 (10:03):
Okay, you know, well good, that's That's just it's.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
Been so darned exciting. And then my grandson's still here.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Oh. I didn't know him when he had gotten here.
So what's he been doing.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
He's been doing a lot of stuff. He he's amazing.
He just got out of high school and he decided
after high school what he wanted to do, and so
he decided he wanted to walk down Italy. Oh, walked
down Italy from start off to the town. He started
the on the other side of the Alps in Switzerland
and came down through the same pass that was used

(10:38):
by Hadrian and Napoleon and everybody came down through there
and able and walked all the way to Rome by himself.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Yeah. Wow, that's amazing.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
And he didn't ask his father for money, or his
grandfather for that matter, probably knew about the latter.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
I just took him up. I just come up to
We toured New England and so went to Saratoga and
went to my parents' graves and gave him a little
little tour, went to visit my sister. That was nice.
Now where does she live in Connecticut?

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Okay, well that's really not said, he's still here.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
I said, do you want to be sure you want
to drive a thousand miles in a car with your grandfather?
I said, I can't imagine doing that. But we had
a good time.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
That's great, that's super well good, that's wonderful.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
We walked around Boston. I showed him where I got fired,
where I used to teach, you know, historical highlights.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Yes, I'm sure.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
There's a.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
A big sign up there that says something to that effect.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Yeah, yeah, that's the whole university took off. Now they
own half of downtown Boston. They have all the big
theaters and everything at school. As soon as I left,
the school took off like a rock cow.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
That's fair and unexpected.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Yeah, that's right, that's right, that's right. So but we
had a really at a really really good time. And
Keenland's open. I mean, how much excitement?

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Oh yeah, you're gonna take him to Keenland. Yeah huh.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
Of course he's learned how to read the racing for
him yesterday, No too busy?

Speaker 1 (12:19):
Yeah, boy, that was how beautiful to retired.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Well, I kind of am. I'm John's assistant. Whatever he
wants me to do. When he's not there, I gotta
kill him the few that's right, he had he had
other things on.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
You mean he took off.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
It's unbelieved. It's unbelievable. It's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
We met a couple at Little Just yesterday or day before,
May before, from Champagne in Illinois, and they.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
Were gonna they know it's the Champagne Stakes yesterday, I
don't know. Oh, well, there you go.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
But they were gonna call and see about it if
they could get a tour and go to old friends.

Speaker 4 (12:59):
Yeah, give him my cell phone number and ten bucks
in cash gets him on the sold out tour.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
Is that the going rate? Well?

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Yeah, credit, you know, good surprises. I'll tell you something.
This big brown horse he is, he's the real deal.
He is so cool, is that right? Yeah, he's beautiful.
He's very, very very smart. Yeah, and he's the broodmare
sire for door Knock and.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Maigeh of course their full brother sister or.

Speaker 6 (13:32):
Something like that. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Yeah, so where is he?

Speaker 4 (13:39):
Well, we moved touch Gold to get closer to Silver Charm.
I have a great picture of them looking over the
fence at each other.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Finally I've got that.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
Okay, you're not complaining. It's not no no, you know
you and that you rob me this, none of us
complaining like humans do all the time, make an excuse
for themselves to say, hey, you know, it's so bad
for thirty that kind of stuff. Yeah, and they walked
around and that was that.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
That was How old is Big Brown?

Speaker 4 (14:06):
Big Brown is? Let me think for a second.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
I think.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
I think eighteen, but I'm not sure. I'm going to
check it out.

Speaker 5 (14:14):
Young.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Wow, he'll be there for a while.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
I hope so.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Yeah, I hope so too, because that's something around.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
He hit a very respectable stud career.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Yeah, that's excellent.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
Is up in New York.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
When he got him, he liked you know, Andy Collen
and John did all the negotiating. This is the first
stories John negotiated for and worked out all the details services.

Speaker 6 (14:36):
It was really cool started out at the top.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, that's supers.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
It's excellent.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
It's great being the assistant. I never knew how much
fun it would be just being the assistant. It's much better.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
That's good.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
It's like being the vice president. You get to go
a lot of places, do a lot of fun things.
But nobody ever pictured that seriously.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
And you don't have to do that.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Moving right along, That's what it's like.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
I don't want to say anything.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Yeah, either way, I can say, I hope John Doson died.
He'll be president again.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Now that's just wonderful day. I knew he was gonna
get married, he told us.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
And she's just super, she's super. Yeah, it's really good.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Yeah, she's Millie's friend. Oh, okay, they hang out and
I think they came to your birthday party at that time.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Yeah they did?

Speaker 2 (15:34):
Which one?

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (15:35):
I think it was? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Really no, I mean when there's two two tall, fantastic
looking blondes, people remember there you go.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Yeah, nineteen on my eightieth birthday.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
So Big Brown's nineteen.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Big Brown, it's nineteen. Wow, that's amazing.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
That's really beautiful. Yeah, he's really very very smart.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
People will fuck in.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
So he's in touch Gold's old paddock. Okay.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
I was wondering because if I drive out there, look, yeah,
it's tough to keep up with.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
You know, they move around and you know, starting to
rest a few paddocks and moving horses over there. Where
your boys are over.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Yeah, it's so nice. It's such a great idea because
they're hurt animals, and everywhere they look there's another horse.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
Yes, and that just.

Speaker 6 (16:30):
Takes away so much anxiety for them.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
It's just like, Okay, I'm here, we don't have any
problems looking around.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
And Missus Pasture sent us a whole bunch of cookies yesterday. Yeah,
piles and piles of them where I'm not saying people
stealing there.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
No me some for the boys. Can I go over
to the office and tell them you get said to
give me?

Speaker 5 (16:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Okay, then that's the way bets and I can see
big Brown. Yeah, wonderful.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
It's a beautiful day today. I'm going to try and
get over to the Red Mile today because they can't there.
They're sold out at Keenlan. You can't get into Kienlan.
Then tomorrow I'm going to Keenland if everything works out,
Is that right?

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Sold out at Keenland. Yeah, you can't get in.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
No, you can't get a seat, can't get nothing.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Oh a seat?

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Feet Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Boy, it was mobbed yesterday too.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
You could see it on television racing. Does it right?
Everything works out?

Speaker 1 (17:35):
Yes, it's it was really and then today the weather's
supposed to be wonderful, and then tomorrow it is, and
then I think a cold front comes in Sunday nighters.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
I don't know cold, can that be? You can't be
that cold. They got to call it something else. Cold
two degrees Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Yeah, I know, it drives it crazy, makes me nuts.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
Yeah, but I know noticed what that have made you nuts?

Speaker 1 (18:03):
Well, yes, it does make me nuts. And when you
get to my age, it can be nuts all you want.
Nobody cares.

Speaker 6 (18:10):
Yeah, And.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Pretty soon we're gonna get rid of this freaking daylight savings.
It's going away. I hit my hour back. That is
your pet peeve of all times, of all times, I mean,
when you didn't put that on my grave, yeah, or
wherever you sprinkle me however that goes.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
So what I told Diane, I said, when I die,
you know, we have the cemetery of all these great
horses buried in our backyard. So I told her, I said,
you know what I did, Just get me cremated, throw
my ashes out the back. Just don't put my lifetime
earnings on the side. The market trees out there and
precisions and sunshine forever, and that.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Was the funniest story. When you said you thought she
liked was it?

Speaker 4 (18:57):
Creator? Yeah? Creator, and she said it was.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
A great story.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
Well, you know, when we first started, we did everything
ourselves because we couldn't afford it, you know, And so
we had an old golf cart and we had some
we had our feet nevers, and then we'd go around
feed the worse. So so well, one day it was
like February and it was really real. Now this was cold.
This was a cold front. Because I noticed that because

(19:24):
all the water is froze over and I had to
climb the fence plays off with the axe, and the
water was spray back, and all my glasses were frozen
and the icicles were literally coming down from the hood
on my coat. So I'm climbing over the fence to
get Creator, who's Diane's favorite horse. And I said, I'm
halfway over the fence on my way to clean his wires.
I to frost his water with a hatchet. I hear

(19:49):
this voice say behind me, it's awfully cold. I hope
he's okay. I'm sitting up there and I'm going, oh
my god, And I said, you know, and then I
did something very stupid Yeah, it's like George Burns handing
Gracie Allen the A.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
I turned to her and I said, I said to her,
you know, sometimes I think you like that horse more
than you like me, And without missit to be she goes, well,
he's bigger, he's stronger, he made more money, and he's
better looking. And she didn't mention the hair part, but

(20:29):
that's what she said. I said, Okay, fine, that's one
of my favorite stories. You're filled with creator stuff. That
got the halt frame. He passed away, but he was
a great horse. And that's not the creator that ran
in America, the creator that ran in Europe.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
He never ran in this country.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
No, No, He and Sunshine Forever were the first horses
we brought home from Japan.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Oh that's right, and this is cool.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Next week the whole contingent of the people from the
Japanese Breeders and the Japanese Racing Association are coming to
is it.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Oh yeah, well, Keenland's opening.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
They've planned it out, planned it out really really wonderful. Yeah,
so you old friends in Japan's going really well? Yeah, good,
that's great.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Well, I love that story every solt and I tell
it to somebody.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
I hope you do, because I think it's I know, hilarious.
All right, but she hasn't left yet. She hasn't left yet.
Well this is good.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
Yeah, that's a good idea.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
So but creator, yeah, so the creator, the European creator
that we got just opens up so many doors for
us over there, to Japan and then subsequently now to
South Korea.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
So good, good, Yeah, that's not so. What else is
coming up?

Speaker 4 (21:48):
Well, on the eighteenth, we're having a special welcome to
old Friends party for Big Brown Oh nice, the Big
Brown Barn.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Bash, eighteen.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
Brown Barn Bash. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Okay, Now what day is that on? Because today's that?
What fifth.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Friday?

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (22:08):
Okay, what time I'm gonna have line dancing? No kid, Yeah,
I'm gonna teach you how to line dance?

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Oh gosh, what time will it be?

Speaker 4 (22:20):
Well I'm not sure we'll have to Well John will
explain it next week. Oh you get all the good
information from John. I just come here and blab.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
I think that sounds like fun. Yeah, fun?

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Tip to what boots? These boots for line dancing country
have to click and he clack a certain way you do? Yeah,
Well that's let's me out.

Speaker 6 (22:47):
Yeah, that would it.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
When I found out that my stepfather knew how to
do that, it was a whole new world. Really, yeah,
they knew how to do that for crying. That may
be it's some kind of like a shuffle, like a
most like the basic step for an Irish jig.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
I can see a career opening for you. You know,
it's too bad. Ed Sullivan went off the air.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Yeah, you got to take care of her tend nights.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Yeah, that's a shame.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
So we could, you know, we could, you know, we
could make some accommodations.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Well, that's true. I don't know have to I mess
up my hip, you know.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
Oh geez.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
And I go to a great doctor, doctor huff Out
at Bluegrass Orthopedics, and he said, we're going to MRI
and said get to the bottom of this because you
know it's not really going away very well.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
So I did.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
And you call up and they say, well, we can't
tell you because we're just a nurse or something like that.
So they called me back and I said, listen, I
can't mess around with this.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
I got that's in or so you know, you have
your response.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
He called me back and.

Speaker 6 (24:02):
The what do you call it?

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Pa physicians assistant. I said, I just want to know
if I'm going to have to have a certain No,
he said, tendon itis.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
You're good.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
So I thought that was exceptionally nice for them to
go to the trouble to look it up, call me
back and tell me. So I didn't worry about you know,
good guy Wallless Huff.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
That is actually, Hey, Russey, do we have the scratches
for Keenlan today? I got a pick for Keenan.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
I got into this where just steal the racing form.

Speaker 4 (24:34):
Give it away my tracks, the whole racing form. That's well,
it's three tracks, that's all.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
When he does, he goes to the store and then
he takes the racing form of the bathroom, rips out
what he wants.

Speaker 5 (24:44):
Is that right?

Speaker 4 (24:45):
No, that's not exactly right. The bathroom has nothing to
do with it. Okay, Yeah, Russy's looking up this because
Bob Baffert has a horse in the last race today
at Keenland. Now, when's the last time he brought a

(25:07):
maiden into Keenland to run? And I don't And if
this horse is in he.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Usually brings short odds with him too.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
Well, this is the interesting thing for some reason. This
horse is Bob Baverage's owned by his wife. A horse
ran two bullets in a row at Santanita, the last
one on September the thirtieth, one of forty six fifty
eight and two.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
And this is a long shot twelve to one on
the morning line.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
And Johnny Blasque is a board.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Huh, you got my shot of going off with twelve
to one. He's had to running a one hundred yards
and ten seconds. Ain't gonna happen, That's what I thought.

Speaker 4 (25:51):
So some mistake here. I mean, it's a good deal
to all that, but holy Macro, and this is a
horse's fourth start and he ran seventy six and seventy
three is prior. But I think, you know, Bob experimented
with him on the grass going long, and you know,
I think this seventh for a long distance is perfect
for him. And and I just think he's a really

(26:14):
he might show up here really well. But I was
wondering whether he cross entered him out west or something.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Oh do you know?

Speaker 6 (26:23):
Well, so interesting if that well, in the same race,
I don't know, Jimmy, he comes out set there, Yeah,
he'll come out to see silver Trump.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
Probably during the next sale. Oh good, Yeah, that's my
handicapping of that. But there's another horse in the race
who's my loser. Oh yeah, So you could play an
exact or a trifecta if you really wanted to get
bold with tour Player, which is that's the name of
a three year old. And that's another thing. Bob waited

(27:02):
to wait to put this horse out there. You know,
he likes to get those horses out there as soon
as he can, and he was very patient with this one.
He's three years old and he's making making his four start.
But anyway, the other horse is a Rusty Arnold horse
name It's My Life, the seven horse who ran really
really well last time but went pretty wide coming down

(27:23):
the stretch. And I think this horse and that was
at Kentucky Downs, Oh and ran against some nice, nice
horses in the field of eleven and closed and got
played a little bit. And I think he's eight to
one on the morning line here and Tyler Gapleone gets
on and Tyler Gapleone really does really well usually with Rusty,

(27:45):
and I think he would have done he would have
finished much better if he wasn't twelve blanks behind at
the halfway point of that race, and I think Tyler
I have him a little closer. And that's your analysis
for today. How many stays don't blame me? It's completely wrong.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
What we never blame you for anything, do we?

Speaker 4 (28:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (28:10):
How many steaks are there today? Out there? You got
any steaks? Pick five steaks? He says, Oh, that's a lot.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be, it'll be. It'll be fun today.
But I'm going to go tomorrow. He's going to be
here for as long as he wants. His father is
already afraid. He's gonna he's gonna. I'm gonna steal his
passport and now let him go back to Australia because
we're getting a lot really well, we really are super good.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
So he's going with you.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
Yeah, yeah, you'll have a big time. He's got a
date today.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
Date.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
He's really good looking, and he's got hair, and you
know he's got those girls.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Like baby's at the hospital.

Speaker 4 (28:56):
I told him that, I did. He's so smart and
he's so you know good anyway, whatever, fun, adventurous. And
I said to him, I said, you know, I get
a DNA check. I don't think that's the right thing.
I think you're too smart for our family.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Oh that's fun. Good. What's he want to do? And
does he want to go back to college or what?

Speaker 4 (29:17):
Yeah, he's going to go to college where at Sydney
in Sydney, Australia. Oh okay, right down from where he lives.
He can walk to the college. Oh that's fun, that's good.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
What's he want to majure? If any idea?

Speaker 4 (29:33):
I don't think he's totally decided yet. You know, I
have to say everybody brings about their grandkids, right everybody.
But I've got some evidence that's good. He's really, really,
really smart. That's why I say I got to check
the DNA because yeah, I tell you, you never know.
He's explaining stuff to me come from Yeah, it's amazing. Yeah.

(29:56):
And he's a great power. I mean, he's really He
loves the.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Horses and good, that's excellent.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
Good for you.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
You've had a good.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
Week, a very good week. And we're gonna have a
toast to John today at the farm.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
And what time is that?

Speaker 4 (30:12):
Around noon? I'm going to toast him.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
How good were up at the barn? Been ever? Chrombie Barn?

Speaker 4 (30:20):
Yeah? They just men to have a Chromey Events Center
staff we're working on some other stuffs to add to that.
And yeah, yeah, and we've got to put the big
brown races on the video. Now, I've got to do
a few other things. How many times he start, you know,
not very many?

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Huh.

Speaker 4 (30:38):
I don't remember, I think if I am not mistaken,
which I might be, they had eight starts, yeah, and
seven wins.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
That don't work.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
He won everything except the Belmont when he lost his shoe.
That was the only race he ever lost.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
And who wanted that year? See you never remember who messages?

Speaker 2 (31:00):
No?

Speaker 4 (31:01):
No, I'm thinking now, I'm thinking, oh my god, he's yeah,
I know that's dangerous. Yeah, I lost his shoe when
he was going for the triple crown, but he won.
He won everything else.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Yeah, amazing.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
I think I think needs horses like that gives.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
You something to cheer for, follow and all that good stuff.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
Well, he likes being out. He's looking over the fensive
love man. That's pretty cool. All right, I'm going anyway,
I gotta go, Thank you, thank you for coming to
Charlie's here.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Hey, Charlie, somebody else can show that picture of Man
of war Strive to War?

Speaker 2 (31:43):
Got yeah, okay, wait for scoly to come in. Yeah,
I hope he weren't his secretariat head.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Yeah. Ursul has been carrying that picture around.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
He's been carrying the banner for Man of War as
long as he's been.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
Around out And I'll tell you I put it on
the Internet. I put it on Facebook, you know, because
you know it's just a shock. See look, I know,
like my god, unbelievable, never saw anything.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
It's true.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
I know it's amazing.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
Did I bring you a calendar y at account? Oh? Okay,
our calendar, I'll bring it. Oh, John will bring it
next week whatever wonderful. Oh John will probably be on
a sundaymooon next week, so you might have to put
up with me again.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
We'll say, we'll live through it.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
Okay, we'll try.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
We'll try. We'll say hello to die In, give him
my condolences, et cetera.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
I shall Okay, thank you, Michael.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
We'll see you next week.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Hopefully we'll talk to you later. Well. The most recent
stakes went about the proving Grade one. Our first Samuai
is Johnny Samulai. When the last Sunday they kept the
Ville Steaks over at Reminton with the contest with two
year olds going six very long Jolly Samurai started twice
as won twice coming from off the pace, and both

(33:08):
to be a handy winner. He's just the latest in
a long and growing list of Steaks horses, eighty of
them by its will count by First Samurai, among them
six millionaires and a seven award champion. His leading money
with it to date is lead his stablemate out of
Cleveland Farm approving sive graded stakes winners in his own life,

(33:29):
Lee won Grade one Steaks randing record time one stakes
on dirt and grass. Many A first Samurai is projident
to have that capability, and he earned two million, three
hundred and eighty two three hundred and ninety dollars others.
A Grade one winner justin Phillip win of over a
million two hundred thousand, Executive Privileged Grade one win of
nearly a million dollars, Last Gunfighter, a greatest Stakes winner

(33:52):
of over a million, two one hundred thousand, Sharp Samurai
Greatest Stakes winner more than one point one million, ball
a Greatest States winner over two million, one hundred and
forty nine thousand car of a Greatest States win of
over a million dollars ten percent Our First Samurai was Folds.
That's folds I'm talking about and not started have earned

(34:14):
black type. First, Samuai I won a Grade one Champagne
the Grade one hopeful as a two year old. He's
one of the few active sons of the Great Giants Causeway.
It's stood for more on first Samuel or the stayans
at Clavering Farm called Bernie SAMs At eight five nine
nine eighty seven two three three oerh in the website
is Clavernfarm dot com. Well, the couple of names if

(34:37):
you're in a horseman that you own to know something about.
One's a Clayward Agency. You know, there's Indian Creek Farm. Course,
they're actually one and the same. Mister James clay Warden
who found founded the clay Ward Agency back in nineteen
thirty one, and he was successful even though he founded
right in the middle of the start of actually the depression.

(35:00):
But he was successful because they gave him great service
and his third knowledge of the horsemen, his nose quality
is still carried on today at the clay Ward Agency.
And let me tell you this that they are located
right there in Paris, Kentucky on Main Street eleven on
two Main Street in Paris, Kentucky, and of course Indian

(35:22):
Creek was a leading consigner at the just concluded yearling
sale out there. They sold a five million dollar yearly.
They sold a yearling for a million two hundred thousand dollars.
They sold eight hundred and fifty thousand dollars yearly, another
half million dollar yearly, so they did extremely well and

(35:43):
they do the same for you. Of course, it's awful
hard to come up with a five million dollar yearly
and it was a sales top of for and they
got it done.

Speaker 5 (35:51):
I tell you what.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
The horses always look good out there. You can depend
on that because they've got great horsemen at Indian Creek
in Shack Parish. Buddy out there, he's he He wouldn't
have anybody work farm and didn't know exactly what they
were doing. And they have raised, boarded and so many
in the world's findings Thirdbred. If you want somebody to
sell your horses for you next year, you got to

(36:13):
looking for a place to board, why don't you give
them a call, or better still, use your website. Here's
a website. It's indian Crete ky dot com, Indian Creek
ky dot com, and that's the Indian Creek Farm and
the Kleaward Agency.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and ursul Ellis.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
Well, I've got a bunch of states today is look
at some of them. But let's look at the Keenan
steaks anyway.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
But you are before you get started, Michael, we go back.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Oh we're good, teller, We got too. Telldam, we've got
two horses out there. We needed two bags.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
In the original recipe, no corn or soy.

Speaker 2 (37:05):
Yeah, wonderful.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
And before you get going on, our buddy Adam Bowman.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
Oh you ride another winter.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
Yes, and it was a sixty two dollars winner.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
He's doing that. He does that all the time.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
I know, good for him. He's a nice, good guy,
got three kids now. He's just great.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
So Jackie, I think before we go on, I would
think we ought to say something about Kate's for Clay
passing away.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
Oh yeah, I know. That's unbelievable, isn't it. Katesby died
uh September twenty ninth. He was one hundred and one,
one hundred and one, got a bunch of great family
kids and you know it's running meat farm. Yeah, brutus

(37:58):
Clay number three is now running me it's chief executive officer.
He said, this is something.

Speaker 5 (38:08):
Brutus told.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
The Blood Horse that his father, who was the farm's chairman, Emeritis.
That's pretty cool, died in the same home and in
a room beneath the one he was born in more
than a century ago. Isn't that amazing? Yeah, that's that's
pretty neat. It's just interesting. I know, I had done

(38:34):
a paper one time on Zeke Clay, who was what
is Greek Greek grandfather or something. His name was Ezekiel
and he got shot in head and lost an eye,
and Zeke wore an eyepatch forever, and the family had

(38:57):
the picture of him. I think from the side, you know,
it's just really it is an interesting person and the family.
Uh Zeke got the family property from his dad and
he named it Running Mede, of course, where the Magna

(39:17):
Carter was signed. And uh Zeke began breeding thorough breads,
and some of his first standouts Hanover agil ben Brush,
Buddhist and Sir Dixon. I mean, he bread some astonishing stuff.

(39:39):
And let's see, Catesby was his grandson. He graduated from
Georgetown University. Anyway, really really uh interesting, They had a
lot of steakes winners.

Speaker 5 (39:56):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (39:57):
He Katsby was on the Racing Commission and then the
board directors at Churchill and he was with Kentucky River
Coal Company for fifty years. I knew that because he
did real well in the in the coal business. So
he survived by his wife. Anyway, that's what's today. The

(40:24):
fifth there was a math at the Church of the
Annunciation in pairs anyway, just an amazing piece of history life. Yeah,
and it's just uh, you got to yeah, nice guy,
you got to keep up with that history because it's fascinating.

Speaker 2 (40:44):
All Right, Let's look at this cool more stix again.
Maybe I better catch up on a Yeah, we better
do that first, yeah Coore.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Well, last sat at Belmont at the Big agree Maid
three two hundred and fifty thousand dollars Vrosburg was won
by Mafossa five year old son of Practical Joke and
was folding Chili. Mufossa won by four and a half lengths,
and he's won two in a row in this country.
He won eight of his ten starts in Chile, including
graded stakes before coming to the USA. And Jack, you

(41:22):
see what's on the bottom of this oh, I said, okay,
what's on the bottom of that? The Osburg is a
win and you're in for the Breeders Cup Sprint or
he may go in the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile. They
have made the mine up yet. Next day, also at Belmont,
at the Big Ad Grade two two hundred and fifty
thousand dollars Gallon Bloom Stakes was won by Ways and

(41:42):
Mainz threee Old Philly, also by Practical Joke. Ways and
Means won the Great One Test Stakes in a previous star.
As a matter of fact, she's won three in a
row beater Elders in the Gallon Bloom, and she's compiled
earnings of a seven hundred and seven thousand. Ways and
Means is also headed for the Breeders Cup. Yet another
Grade one winner, where Practical Joe that is likely headed

(42:04):
for the Breeders Cup is domestic product winner this year
of the Grade one Allen H. Jerkins, the Grade one
Dwire and the Grade three Tampa Bay derby Practical Joe
in the midst OFT's leading son It stood and said

Grade one. He is one of six dads standing at
Ashword stood ranked among the top twenty on the North

(42:25):
American Silius. The others are Justify, Uncle Moe Monning's American
Few and Mendelsom. No other stud farm based in North
America can match that record. For more on the sands
at ashword stood called the farm eight five, nine eighty seven,

It's seven thirty I think it said seven hundred block
of downtown Paarish. Can't miss it. It's on the right

(43:25):
and it's beautifully done. The storefront's nice. In the front
half of the store is the store part you go
in and pick up stuff and buy it. And the
back half is separated by glass and that's where they
make all the good stuff. So you can watch them.
I know they get tours that go in there and

(43:47):
they love to watch how somebody makes its beautiful halters
and repair stuff. I mean, it's just amazing. It's beautifully done.
Stop in why not nine eight seven five, that's a
local number. It's getting up close to where will my god?
What am I going to get for Christmas? And they
have stunning belts. Everybody in central Kentucky's got one of

(44:12):
these belts with a nameplate on them. They're beautiful. They
even have them for children. That's really nice. That's a
big deal for a kid to get a beautiful belt
with your name on it. How cool is that? And
of course they have key tags with your name on it,

(44:38):
and all kinds of breath things like they have stall
plates for your barn. And oh they have a mousepad too.
That's kind of cool. Oh, I know, what's the new one?
What do you call on me? You put your drink down? Coasters,
you know, and you can get the coaster of their

(44:59):
leather and you can them to say whatever you want.
And they've got check book covers. They have you name
it anything leather. Oh, I'll tell you what's a cool
thing for kids? The girls like Betsy's got one. It's
a bracelet with their name on it, made out of
bridle leather. So all that good stuff quilling q U

(45:24):
I l l N dot com in Paris. It's the
local number nine eight seven O two one five.

Speaker 3 (45:33):
Now back to horsetails with ursul ellis well.

Speaker 2 (45:38):
They're running three grade one steaks out of Queenland today

Implicated Egg Bullet and on outside another one fold in
England White Beam, and they're running their breeders for Turity Vincent.
We talked about some of the breeders for Truity winners

overs at Clayburn, Palm, Sarahtoga Cruiser, Optical, Handsome Paints, East Avenue, Paloso, Maceo,
Big Boat, Tenacious Leader, Dapermoon and Ready for Peace. I

(47:31):
don't believe it's a farm bred in there. Huh. How
about that? That didn't happen too often? So those are
the three of grade one stakes that they're going today
Kentucky Every Winter, Authentic Saturday's tenth first cop two year
Old Winter Last Saturday at the direct expense of two

(47:54):
year olds by Vacoma and Omaha Beach. Incidentally, is at
Wacoma two year Old Events. Second was carrying spin through silks.
Of course, Authentic and Macoma and Omaha Beach all standing
there at at Spend three Farm. The Authentic coach's name
is Khali Babe and he was led by Summer Wind

(48:17):
Farm one by eight and a half flanks for training.
Bob Beffort looks like a cold with a big future,
and Authentic looks like a sour with a big future.
All ten of his winners won the major tracks. Nine
one made in specials. Like their classic winning sire, they
have every indication given, every eddication they want to go
a distance to ground. Remember Authentic one his only start

(48:38):
as a two year old. Then he won the Kentucky Derby,
the brigs Cup Classic five graded States over seven point
two million. He was a champion three old and he
was horse of the Year. Doesn't get any better than that.
Becoma and Omaha Beach are also off the terrific starts
at stud Pacoma is the nation's leading freshman of two
year o winners got twenty one twenty then one made

(49:01):
them specials, and fifteen won their first start.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
Listen to that.

Speaker 2 (49:06):
Twenty one of the twenty one maiden specials and fifteen
other than one of the first charts. So Vacoma is
not on the leading Freshman sire, He's top the list nationally.
Two have one stakes, including the promising coach Jonathan's Way
one of the Grade three Iroquois Churchill. It's a winning
You're in for the Breezes Cup, Juveiram and of course
Omaha Beast is the nation's leading second crops are by

win of the Grade one the tam mistakes four of
the top five second crop sires Omaha Beach, Mattoli, Vina
Russell and Maxwellmischief Standy, Spend three or four. There's a

(49:50):
lot more, but I'm running out of time. So called
dais of Brian and Mark or Daniel eighty five nine
two nine four zero zero thirty and the website is
Spendthrift Farm. All right, I want to talk about my
good friends Hill at Regan Parker right now, Jackson.

Speaker 1 (50:05):
Yeah, absolutely, Hill Parker's the best. What a He's just
a great guy anyway, period. Nice fellow, you know, good guy.
What he is doing at this point in his career.

Speaker 4 (50:21):
He is a.

Speaker 1 (50:23):
Realtor, but he is a horse farm and land specialist. Uh,
he's a principal broker. He's a member of all the
realtors and all that kind of stuff, which means he
knows all the stuff about zoning and stuff. That's what
you do when you pass all these debts and stuff.
You know your stuff. However, what's the big thing and

(50:48):
what's such a prize with Hill Parker is he's a horseman.
He is a licensed trainer in eleven states. He's got
years of experience with racehorses, steeplechasers, fox hunters, the whole thing,
thoroughbreds and tresage horses.

Speaker 4 (51:10):
And he's a.

Speaker 1 (51:11):
Graduate a pony club. And that sounds like something childish,
but it's you. If you're a graduate a you can
pass any trainer's tests and anything else that got going
for you. He knows his stuff. Now what that means
if you're driving in Townsend, I want to buy a

(51:32):
horse farm or I want to put one, or how
do I go about doing it? He'll's the guy you need.

Speaker 4 (51:38):
To talk to.

Speaker 1 (51:39):
He knows what questions to ask if you've ever had
a farm, and whether you've been breeding or you know,
raising stuff for the sales or whatever. You have to
know how to fix everything on the land or you're
going to find yourself well talking down the wrong place

(52:01):
and messing up. So he knows his stuff to say.
I remember actually when he was training thoroughbreds, he'd come out,
drag a few out in a trailer park behind the
clocker stand, get him out of time to the trail,
and he'd work on himself. I mean, if he's that good,

(52:21):
he knows what he's doing, so he knows what to say.
Are you going to take borders? Are you going to breed,
are you going to train? Are you breeding for sales?
Blah blah bah. There's all kinds of stuff. I mean,
do you have somebody that wants to ride, a daughter
who wants to ride? All these questions determine the kind

(52:44):
of space and facilities you need, like are you going
to add to your property or not. It's just amazing
all about the condition of the structures too. If you
don't want to buy someplace and move been and have
to fix it because of anyway, you get my drift

(53:06):
you have to have somebody that's been there and done that.
If you ain't clean stalls, you don't know nothing there.

Speaker 2 (53:13):
Well, the best way to get in touch with Hill
Reagan it's going to their website. It's a good one,
Lexhorsefarms dot com. Lexhorsefarms dot Com. And Hill's number it's
election and number lives in Electionton. It's an eighty five
nine number six oh eight eighty thirty nine. These these

(53:36):
are special people there, they really are. Then I couldn't
recommend them any highly.

Speaker 5 (53:44):
Then I do.

Speaker 2 (53:45):
I mean, they're just they're special and uh, they will
really work their behinds all for you. So that's Hell
and Reagan Parker, Lexhorsefarms dot Com.

Speaker 3 (54:00):
Now back to the Thoroughbred Training Center and Ursa ellis.

Speaker 2 (54:06):
Okay, what else I was giving? Did I give you
a fatuity?

Speaker 5 (54:13):
Did it?

Speaker 2 (54:13):
Okay? They're running the Breeders Fortuity.

Speaker 1 (54:17):
Big Brown was a siab dortmun. Now isn't that Millie's horse?
Didn't Mellie have ADORTMN or am? I? Yeah? He says,
So anyway, I thought that was interesting.

Speaker 2 (54:33):
Well you're getting back to the Craven Breeders Fortuity all right?

Speaker 1 (54:38):
Well, I was doing something more important.

Speaker 2 (54:42):
It's uh, it's for two year olds, of course, been
a fortuity Grade one six hundred million dollar part and
they go to Minin on the sixteenth. Got a nice
feel in there. I believe I gave you these, didn't
I what?

Speaker 4 (55:01):
Yeah, I got already gave those to you, Okay.

Speaker 2 (55:04):
I did because I was talking about Flatter. The horse
on the rail is Ferocious by Flatter?

Speaker 1 (55:10):
Oh that was my question. Ferocious goes today?

Speaker 2 (55:14):
Yeah? And the breeder's futuity, Well, I.

Speaker 1 (55:17):
Looked all over yesterday farhim. I knew he was ready
to go, but I didn't know what day. And that's it, Keenlan.

Speaker 2 (55:24):
Yeah, and the breeder's fratuity.

Speaker 1 (55:26):
What time it's that race?

Speaker 2 (55:27):
Uh? Just five sixteen here?

Speaker 1 (55:31):
Okay? Is that the Clayburn Futurity.

Speaker 2 (55:33):
Yeah, clavern Is sponsors there.

Speaker 4 (55:35):
Yeah for years.

Speaker 1 (55:37):
Yeah, I thought, okay, as you were or whatever.

Speaker 2 (55:42):
Well they're they're running another top two year old race,
Grade one two year old race up in New York
today and that's the Champagne Stake.

Speaker 1 (55:53):
Oh yeah, big deal.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
And it's got a few of ten JJ's. Those olds
got to rail tip top Thomas is number two, Lethal
Speed is number three, Moplex is number four. He is
by motiplex is uh by complexity. Who stands over it?

(56:22):
Dri stud Horston first crop anyway, Wacoma rides who is
his number six? W Cooma is the leading sore of
two old winners this year. He stands over spend three forma.
He's number six in here smoking wicked by horse named

(56:44):
Bobby is wicked. One don't know him. If he's wicked,
I don't want to. Colonel Bob is number eight, Executive
Order is number nine, and Chancellor mcpatrick is on the outside.
So that's the Grade one Champagne Stakes. What else they're
running Keenland today? Uh, they're running the cool over turf

(57:08):
mile Grade one. Mountain Bears got the rail. He's an
Irish bread Cocoulie fold and Great Britain more than looks
running b noises off, Talk of the Nation, cash cash
equity equity fold in France, Spirit of Saint Louis and

(57:30):
Carl spanklerfold in Ireland. Let's see they're running the I
don't believe I gave you this one, the First Lady Stakes,
Grade one, added Tina. I don't think so. Fluffy Socks

(57:52):
has got the rail. Oh, there you go, Tarawah folding
eye in his number two, Cephine his number three by warfront,
Gino m Romaica playing the mischief walkathon and Evy Jet
spoke betrailing candy special warfold in Ireland, Chili flag fold

(58:18):
in France and implicated then on number ten his egg
bulleting on the outside white beam pole in uh in
Great Britain. Let's see what else we got here. I
was hoping my my friend Scully was coming in, but

(58:38):
he has not appeared yet. Well, you still got a
few minutes. I used to have few.

Speaker 1 (58:46):
I hope.

Speaker 2 (58:49):
They running run into frazet at Belmont. It's got uh,
it's a great one. Four hundred thousand two year old
Phillies going a mind snow white spelled s n o wyte.

(59:12):
The Queen's mg is number two by thousand words. Stands
over a Spencer farm, pondering.

Speaker 1 (59:21):
What in the.

Speaker 2 (59:24):
Little roll Scottish lassie, Paradise City another Chelsea. But here's
my man, says a Parole social fortress con O Mama.

Speaker 5 (59:41):
Maximum mischief sins of Parol's gonna scratch. They said she
had some kind of small issue and she was like
thirty to five on the morning Line says a parole. Yeah,
she had won by like eight or nine months on
travers today and looked brilliant for Chad Brown. But she
had some minor issue they announced this week. She's gonna
scratch a shame.

Speaker 4 (01:00:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
See he's already come in here, corrected me. Didn't take
you love. That's because I'm wrong so often.

Speaker 5 (01:00:12):
Well, that's a lot of eight sets and horses you
can't follow off in thish.

Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
There you go. Well, let's let's catch up on some
of these things. Like last Saturday, Laong one hundred and
fifty thousand dollars Law for Thurty was won by Pascalaline,
a two year old Cold Bay Upstart one hundred thound dollars.
Japan Turf Cup went to Dean Martini by Cairo Prince
upstarting Cairo Prince. Both of them stand added Dristad. Pascal

(01:00:38):
Line has started twice in one to two. He's one
of nine twenty twenty four stakes winners Upstart. Among them
Kathleen Oh, graded stakes winner of over five hundred and
eighty five thousand, Mask Parade the graded stakes winner of
over nine hundred and thirteen thousand, Surly Furious Winter five
Stakes two this year at Turfway place in Greatest States,
He's earned over five hundred eighty five thousand. Cagliostro winner

(01:01:03):
of the Winter States of Churchill, placed in four graded states,
He's earned over about nearly half a million. Green Up
a Stakes winner of over four hundred and eighteen thousand
Grade one placed Personal Analysis win of the Bay Short
Aqueduct and Stilettos win of the Ellis Park Debutantes. So
bottom line, up Starts having another great year. Don't forget that.

(01:01:24):
Up Starts. Number one stakes winner Zandon one Grade one
Stakes one over two point two one hundred thousand, placed
in nine graded states, including the Kentucky Derby. And he
was bred like Burton C. Jones, like Upstart Cairo Prince
as the SOB of nine twenty twenty four stakes winners,
a man among them, my Boy Prince. He was a

(01:01:44):
champion two year old Coat of his year in Canada,
placed in the Breeders Cup Juvenal Turf Cairo Consort Champion
two year old Philly of her year in Canada placed
in the Grade one Breeders Cup Juvenal Phillies. The aforementioned
incidentally four mentioned Dean Mark Martini is also one great
the Great three o Hi Derby an Unmatched Wisdom is

(01:02:05):
one stakes this year at Saratoga Creative Cairo at the Fairgrounds.
Nicky Nando's Adlis bought Carol caper wood By and the
list goes on. If you're looking for winners for the
Winter Circle, look to upstart a cairo just called Shannon
Acall at A five nine eighty seven, three seventy two
seventy and the website is heared Stood dot com. Now

(01:02:27):
that my man had just walked in right there, James Cully.

Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
Is you're gonna show him that picture?

Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
Who is with Bloodstock?

Speaker 4 (01:02:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
I want to Okay, you're gonna.

Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
Go ahead and then you're gonna he's got a picture that.

Speaker 5 (01:02:41):
Show you all right, right.

Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Boy, he's been thinking about this day.

Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
I ain't carry to book around for the alog anyway. Uh.
He's with Bloodsuck Research for a number of years. And
you can tell a little bit more about it, and
I can a little I can do the show with that.
It's staves up nice a better move.

Speaker 5 (01:03:03):
Yeah, well thanks Earth Soul. Yes, let's stock Research Information
Services at britainet dot com. It's your source of handicapping
racing information this opening weekend of Keenlan. We have got
all the handicapping reports, We've got past performances, data files

(01:03:26):

PPS or pigs or analysis, we have cocker reports, et cetera.
So make sure you go to for anything related to
Thurbred racing, go visit Britain at dot com. It's the
Handicapper's edge, all right, very good?

Speaker 1 (01:03:45):
Listen, all right, all.

Speaker 5 (01:03:48):
Right, yeah, I mentioned it's opening weekend in Keenland, got eleven.
They had eleven stakes carded this weekend. Five today on
the Fall Stars Saturday program, including a trio of winning
your in the one point two five million dollars cool
More Turf Mile. It's Keenland's richest race. It's been you know,
a productive prep for the Breeders' Cup Mile Master Seeds

(01:04:12):
finished the nose second last year. In fact, last year
the race had a huge impact on the Breeders Cup
at sant Anita because up to the mark beat Master's
Seas by the nose and then up to the mark
finished a close second of the Breeders' Cup Turf and
Master of the Seas won the mile, so we got
a really good field headlined by Carl Speckler and more
than looks. I think they both have a chance that

(01:04:32):
they run well today to run well at del Mar.
Also have the Thurbeck Club of America, which is a
winning You're in for the Philiamre Sprint. Bright Work heads
that race. That's their second start back. She's undefeated and
sprints Grade one winter last year. There's gonna be a
race at Santa Anita today called the chillings Worth that's
going to have a top contender for the Philliamare Sprint

(01:04:54):
in sweet As Teca. But Keenland also has the Breeders.
They ran now so bides yesterday, Immersive one and a
night Quist Philly look good for Brad Cox and Godolphin.
Today they have the Breeders Forturity. It's headlined by Ferocious,
he's a flatter colt. Brendan Walsh has a contender in
East Avenue, pletcher As a horse switching turfed to dirt

(01:05:17):
and Tenacious leader Dallas Stuart and Jimmy DeVito both have
some nice looking least out made winners. It's a good
race there today. The Woodford is a prep for the
Breeders Cup Turf sprint as well, and the First Lady
is a The First Lady is held it a mile.

(01:05:38):
It's a great one for Phillies and mayors. But the
last two horses that won a Breeders Cup that competed
in it both won the mile, and even last year's winner,
Gina Romanico, Who's gonna make a title defend. She's one
of four in the racer Chad Brown, who's one of
the last six runnings of it in a record seven overall.
She ran fourth in the Breeders Cup mile after winning

(01:05:58):
the First Lady, but Uni and Teppin in twenty nineteen
twenty fifteen both won the First Lady and the won
the Breeders Cup Mile. The last Philly to win it
was a Day at the Spa who in twenty fourteen
when the First Lady and then the Phillya in their
turf And like I said, chev Brown has four in there.

(01:06:20):
I think Chili Flag is contender for him to bounce
back in there. She's listed at six to one on
the morning line. My best bet today though at Keenlan
is going to come in race four. It's number ten.
Desert Duke he's six to one on the morning line
for Chris Hartman. I think this gilding except for a
big effort. I do like East Avenue and the breeder security.

(01:06:43):
He's in there against a real good one in Ferocious,
but I think he has a tactical advantage. And I'll
mention that that Aqueduct. This is a huge weekend for
the juvenile Juvenile and the juvenile Phillies. Champagne, Yeah in
the Champagne. I like that the Cooma rides, Yeah, Becoma Rides.

(01:07:05):
I think Chancer mcpatrick is good, and he might, but
I don't think the one turn mile and the past
scenario and they're are gonna flatter him. Chancer mcpatrick won
the hopeful so and I think he'll be good at
two turns. But I like Wacoma Rides. I think he
has a tactico advantage. I liked his debut win for
John Kimmel, and I believe he's six to one on

(01:07:26):
the morning linecom was the leading side. Absolutely, he's by
a you know he I mean, yeah, Tiss the law
it's technically is the leading freshman sire based on earnings.
But he had his tastic who won a five like
a two hundred thousand dollars maiden rates and then a

(01:07:46):
million dollar steak, so that sort of inflated his earnings.
Theacoma is clearly the leader in number of winners and
he's got yeah, he's up to like twenty plexity, second
in total winners and uh Bacoma has that Jonathan's Way

(01:08:07):
who won the Iroquois at Churchill. So he's a big
time contender for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. So he does
have like a classic prospect as well. Yeah, incredible, yeah yeah,
and even complexity. You know, he has a couple of
graded winners. One of them Moplex is in the Champagne yeah,

(01:08:27):
and the other one is that was a turf horse
in Europe. But he's got some nice horses for sure.
And Mackenzie McKenzie's coming on. He's got uh yeah, well
I think though, yeah, I think so. He he's got
uh well, Chancer mcpatrick's by mackenzie and McKenzie Street ran

(01:08:52):
second in the del mar Forturity and he's in the
American Pharaoh today and he's a top contender in there
for tim Ya teen. So yeah, it's a he's coming
on a little bit even Authentic started to throw some
more winners. So yeah, we're seeing some runners from some
freshman sires come along. And like I said, there was

(01:09:15):
the Outs of Bodies yesterday and today we got the
Breeders Security at Keenland. We got the Champagne at spin
Away at Aqueduct, and we got the America Pharaoh and
Oak Leaf at Santa Anita. So definitely some two year
old races of interest. You know, it's that time, nap time.

Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 5 (01:09:35):
Yeah. And then tomorrow we've at Keenland. We got this
Grade one spinster Idiomatic, last year's Distaff winner and Champion
Dirt Older Mayor. Uh. She's going to headline in the field.
She's gonna be a heavy favor, but it'll be like
to see her win and look good because she's going
to the Breeders Cub where she's likely going to face
the Peta Anna and Raging Sea who beat Idiomatic last

(01:09:59):
time by a note, She's in the Bell Dame tomorrow
at Aquadut. So like lots of good races these there
was some of the races last weekend I think are
going to have an impact on the Breeders Cup. We
saw Johannes. H Hey, Johannes, he's the son of night Quist.
Night Quist is desire of immersive. Yesterday, he's like really

(01:10:21):
coming on with some runners ni quist is, But I
thought Johannes has a big chance in the mile off
of his win last week in the City Hole mile
and straight no chaser just ran a hole through the
wind awful layoff in the Santa Anita Sprint, and if
he can come back five weeks later, he's the horse
of beat in the Breeders Cup Sprint, and even some
Santador for Dick Mandela. I think he's really coming into

(01:10:43):
the race well off that wind in the California Crown
last week. Now he's gonna step out of face. City
of Troy and Forever Young who won on Wednesday, Fierceness
and others. But I'm not counting some Santador out because
he's sort of peeking. And Mandela is still a great
Breeders Cup train or Hall of Famer, so he's a

(01:11:04):
little intriguing. So yeah, we had some last week. Definitely
Forever Young, he came back in ran excuse me, he
came back and ran Wednesday in Japan and at a
mile and a quarter distance and he stumbled out of
the gate, which is a concern because he hasn't always
gotten out of the gage, or most of the time
he hadn't gone out of real submith. But he quickly
recovered was prominent from the start. They said the track

(01:11:26):
was real deep and he just basically took over the lead,
and I thought he won in good fashion. I mean,
it's a comeback race. They're looking to build upon that
in the Breeders' Cup Classic. So it was a solid
prep and he looks set for a big time effort.
I mean, both this Forever Young and City of Troy
are coming from overseas for the Breeders Cup Classic. They

(01:11:48):
announced this week that the Japanese have nineteen horses that
they're targeting the Breeders Cup with, including a whole bunch
of two year olds. So it's going to be some
exciting internet participation and they're gonna get more money coming
into the handle and commingle in it from international pools.

(01:12:09):
So it should gould be good for the Breeders Cup
and racing all round.

Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
It sounds like one race after another after another is
just gonna.

Speaker 5 (01:12:17):
Be well, this is this yeah exactly, Yeah, and this
is like, you know, basically they you know, this is
the biggest prep weekend of the year. I mean, there
were some big ones last weekend and there's uh, but
it's pretty much over this week. You know, they'll run
a few more races that could produce a horse, like
they got the q E two next weekend at Keenlan,

(01:12:38):
and they got a three year old Philly Steak that
has produced Shamrock Rose who won the Phillyamir Sprint. But
generally all the Breeders' Cup horses, uh, you know, and
some of them are just training up to the race
from Cis Sarah Tug or del Mar, But generally all
of them have been in action either the last couple
of weeks or this weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:12:59):
Okay, how many weeks exactly is it to the Breeders Cup?
What's this?

Speaker 5 (01:13:03):
It's four Breeders Cup is November second, it's the first
and second it's the Friday Saturday. It's four weeks, four
weeks away.

Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
Yeah, wow, his first trown a dirt.

Speaker 5 (01:13:20):
Yeah. Well, they did a big public workout on a
synthetic track to ped a track over there and had
a couple of work mates and he blew by him
and looked real brilliant, and you know, but he's by justify.
I mean, believe me, O'Brien's aren't running a lot of
horses in the He's tried a bunch of times in
the Classic, and he's had some horses that were just

(01:13:40):
bred on both sides that are really really top notch,
but they were just all terf or primarily turf on
both sides, like Galileo No better example. You know, he's
like a champion in Europe when you know, all these
big races, sort of like City of Troy, but he
just couldn't handle dirt. But he has had two horses
that had these dirt influences in their bloodlines and giants

(01:14:05):
Causeway who got ran a head second it's his now
and Declaration of War who got beatn neck in third
by mucho macho man and will take charge. Both those
horses were all like out of Rahee mayors and had
that dirt influence, you know, and there and they're you know,
Rahie's Desire's Serena Song and some other good dirt horses.
So they had some dirt influences in their bloodlines. So

(01:14:28):
you look at City of Troys by justify. Yeah, you know,
he's certainly eligible to take to the main track. And
this isn't the first time he's trying to do this.
Like I said, he's been trying to win the Classic
the Irish and Nadan O'Brien for twenty years, so twenty
plus years, so they got a feel for it.

Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
I think, yeah, that's great.

Speaker 1 (01:14:49):
That's unreal. My head is spinning right now.

Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
But before you leave, I've got one other thing to
show you.

Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
Yeah, all right now, he's been carrying this around.

Speaker 5 (01:14:58):
Forever.

Speaker 2 (01:14:59):
Show you a horse of shot stride. Oh yeah, yeah,
anything good?

Speaker 5 (01:15:06):
No, No, it's it's really remarkable. That really put it.

Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
On the internet. I couldn't believe it when I saw that. Yeah, gosh,
he's looking.

Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
At it, carrying this around.

Speaker 5 (01:15:18):
It's a stride of man O War winning the it's
his last Yeah, it's his last race at Kenilworth Park
and Windsor, Ontario, Canada. And you see his full stride.
I mean he's like airborne going under the wire and
it looks like he stretches what about fifteen.

Speaker 2 (01:15:40):
They the fifteen feet. I mean they say stride of eighteen,
but I think eight situated.

Speaker 5 (01:15:47):
No, no, it might be eighteen fifteen to twenty. I
was gonna say, that's a that's really remarkable. I bought
that print years ago. Up at Saratoga, they sell a
bunch of you know prints. No, no, of the one
I got was of the Stretch. I didn't they didn't have.
I never seen this one before. Yeah, I've never seen this.
I mean, I haven't seen too many photos of Man

(01:16:07):
of War, but one that they have is in the
Hopeful is it the Hopeful or whatever, the Treemont whatever.
The race was at Saratoga where he got beat by
Upset Sandford. Excuse me, when Upset beat him and you
can see, like upsets this little running like horse in

(01:16:27):
front of them, and even though he's not in full
stride like that, uh man, A wars twice is all right?
I think he's twice the size of all the horses
in that two year old race.

Speaker 2 (01:16:38):
Stand he's standing sixteen to one and a half.

Speaker 5 (01:16:40):
Yeah, well, he was long. He was long, and just
like you know he was physically I thought, you know,
I have yet to see that's what they said about
him when he sold it to Saratoga Sales. You know,
I mean, everybody that looked at him as a yearling
was wild because you know, he was pretty physically you know,

(01:17:02):
they you know, he came he had some uh uh
you know, he had some scope to him. It was
readily apparent they had all this scope and he was
just like all like you know, all racehorse, you know,
just this athletic specimen of a you know, I mean
he was the top seller.

Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
He was not prepped for that sale. Yeah, he came
up and because they just put him in at the
last moment.

Speaker 5 (01:17:29):
Right, and he was physically though still imposing in a
sense where people that were looking at him were a
little more autumn.

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
They used to them up for the sales at that time.

Speaker 1 (01:17:40):
Have you ever seen the picture of him as a
weanlink and that's oh, it's kind of a payment. We'll
bring in one. It's Ursul's father holding the shank.

Speaker 5 (01:17:52):
Nice and it's man of wors.

Speaker 4 (01:17:54):
Beautiful picture.

Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
We'll bring it in and show that's.

Speaker 5 (01:17:56):
A photo of him from that sale. They have a
photo of him at sarahto know with somebody just holding them.
But he's a yearling then, not a weedling.

Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
Yeah, say the under the under bidder, Uh was looking
for a hunter? Oh yeah, yeah, I had I have
never seen that kind of extension. Yeah, in any picture anywhere.

Speaker 5 (01:18:20):
He's like a half length in front of the at
least a half length in front of the horse that's
you know, behind them, and it looks like his legs
are stretching like under that horse's head. You know, it's
really remarkable background.

Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
And they didn't have trick photography then either, I mean.

Speaker 5 (01:18:38):
What they saw.

Speaker 4 (01:18:39):
So I saw that pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (01:18:42):
I saw that and I said, my god, I said,
I got I got to show that discully.

Speaker 1 (01:18:47):
So there you he.

Speaker 2 (01:18:49):
The next person I who want to show it too
is Copeland.

Speaker 1 (01:18:51):
Yeah, it's great.

Speaker 5 (01:18:53):
I saw where you know that Barbara Livingston gave that
Bill Rafferty clutching photo clustion to Keenland. You know that
Bill Rafferty fame like photographer, I believe in Maryland for
decades at decades. Uh when he passed, he left his
like photo clutch at Barbara Livingston, who's like premiere you
know photographer and for thordbred racing pretty much now in

(01:19:16):
the North America. And uh so she went through them
all and like catal cataloged all these frames and everything
and tried to you know, at least the ones that
are in bad shape. She had a process for trying
to get them restored and then donated them all to
Keenland Library. So they just got a huge collection of
I mean, I don't know, you know Vana War, you know,

(01:19:37):
well that would have been before his time, but it's
the kind of thing where, you know, I'm sure he's
got some photos at Kelso and they got some really
famed forces. You know, you would think, well, good.

Speaker 1 (01:19:49):
Well, and Rhoda does such a good job at Keenland.
Oh yeah, he's wonderful. She really is a tremendous person
and smart knows.

Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
What she's doing.

Speaker 5 (01:19:59):
Yeah, she's a fine She's.

Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
Like John Nicholson an old friends. You know, really you
find people that well you for instance, well thank you Jack.
My head's just spinning from all that stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
You have some of your radio shows, some of.

Speaker 5 (01:20:19):
The radio shows there are archives at the LIBRARYA.

Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
Well, they used to tape them all, put them on tape.

Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
Yeah, well, now that can get them off the internet.

Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
I had I had interviews with a bunch of people
who've been gone forever.

Speaker 5 (01:20:35):
Yeah, and then you've done a lot of like you've
gone and read the history, like Joe Palmer and stuff
like that. In the past and some readings of that
and everything. This was racing, Yeah, Joe Palmer, No, I haven't.

(01:20:55):
I didn't read the one. I did the read the
one about the whole like history of Thirdbread, the Thurdbread
breed the Earl in England and it's just it goes
through like the whole, like it's a history of thoroughbred racing. No, no, no,
it wasn't. It was like, I'll bring it up next

(01:21:19):
week because I got it an home so yeah, I
got it too. Yeah, I can't believe I forget the Tide.
It's been a long time, like somebody gave it. Somebody
told me about it, like like like more than twenty
years ago. When I read it a long time ago.

Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
I got this goes back.

Speaker 5 (01:21:42):
Give Oh yeah for sure. Yeah, it's a media guy.
It's an old media guy.

Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
Media guy. They haven't since no, but they.

Speaker 5 (01:21:54):
Have it online. I mean, I know you guys probably
don't use online too much. But if you go to
keen Lind dot com and you go to media there
and they have a media god and because I've looked there, yeah,
it's like one hundred and three pages long and has
all that stuff in it and more and it's been
updated Keenland dot com. Media media. God, yeah, you gotta

(01:22:18):
get in the media section. I mean, believe me, you
got to look around for it. It might not be
easy to navigate those media windows.

Speaker 2 (01:22:27):
Yesterday.

Speaker 5 (01:22:28):
Yeah, immersive.

Speaker 2 (01:22:30):
It's a funny thing. Sweet, but Tuti one the first one.
She was trained by Howard Battle, who for many years
was racial secretary of Tina.

Speaker 5 (01:22:39):
Yeah, I remember, I remember that name.

Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
Yeah, it's little.

Speaker 1 (01:22:43):
Things like that Ursul type system mercials on a IBM
Selectric typewriter.

Speaker 2 (01:22:52):
And then I only because my whole underwood died.

Speaker 5 (01:22:56):
Yeah that's right. Well that thing dies, and you'll be
looking for some else too, I have to.

Speaker 6 (01:23:01):
Yeah, I know, I don't know what we'll do.

Speaker 1 (01:23:03):
Then, I guess they'll stand there and dictate.

Speaker 4 (01:23:05):
It to me.

Speaker 5 (01:23:06):
You guys can get us some like the garage sales.
Maybe find something like that somewhere.

Speaker 1 (01:23:10):
Some guy guy who worked for IBM trafficed in those
things and he'd fix them over and over. We have two.
He retired. I said, my god, he beat us to
the retirement.

Speaker 2 (01:23:25):
So you know, I mean, I say a prayer for
my my typewriter every night.

Speaker 1 (01:23:31):
Oh here's the funny part. You can't turn it off
because it might not turn back on.

Speaker 5 (01:23:38):
Oh yeah, so it's.

Speaker 1 (01:23:39):
Sitting out there chugging out twenty four hours a day.

Speaker 5 (01:23:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:23:45):
One of the kids went out there.

Speaker 1 (01:23:46):
And said, what's this. I got a big sign on
it says, do not turn off.

Speaker 2 (01:23:52):
God get the generator for the house, just for the typewriter. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:23:58):
Well, it's good to see y'all. And uh, well, thank you,
thank you. I love it. I love that. I appreciate
it's like, you know, it's like that photo. I mean,
that was a big deal just to get that in
motion photo like that back then in that time, I
bet so. Remember, yeah, over one hundred years ago I
was in high school.

Speaker 1 (01:24:21):
Exactly proved that horses had all four feet off the
ground at once. Oh yeah, proved it in nineteen what
fifty seven?

Speaker 5 (01:24:29):
Right, But they can't though. The one the one fallacy
they used to have was they used to these pictures
where both legs would be forward and both would be backwards.
And even though they're off the air, they can't be
like completely parallel. They don't move like that. They moved
like a little bit like this, but they're still airborne
one hundred. Well, when they're airborne. They're together, they're coming together,
not you know, coming apart.

Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
The guys from California sit down s This goes back
to about nineteen ten or even twelve. Set up cameras
you know, and took pictures of it just to but
they went off in the air. Jackie, I know that's
what this book was.

Speaker 4 (01:25:04):
I guess they lost the first book already.

Speaker 5 (01:25:07):
Guys, we'll see you next week. Jackie ARSA thank you,
appreciate you on the ground, all right, God, I better
do some lose sales.

Speaker 1 (01:25:21):
Rest. He brought up doughnuts. Thanks the Lord cat ONEA
what calt one?

Speaker 2 (01:25:29):
Well. The most recent stakes winner I prive in grade
once our first Samuary is Jolly SAMUELI Winter Last Sundays
the kept the Ville States at Remington. That was a
contest for two years, going three quarters of a mile.
Jolly Samuel I have started twice and he's won twice.
Came him off the pace to win both handy winner.
He is just the latest and along and growing list

(01:25:50):
of steaks horsers, some eighty of them by actual camp
by first Samuel I among them six millionaires and a
seven award champion. He's leading money. I went to this
date is Lee is stablemate the Cleaveman Farm. A proven
graded stakes winner in his own right, Lee one Grade
one stakes running record time one steaks on dirt and grass.

(01:26:12):
Many of first Samurais prosidentally have that capability, and here
over two million, three hundred and eighty two thousand others
are Grade one winner. Justin Phillip win over a million,
two hundred ninety three thousand, executive privilege, a Grade one
went over nine ninety nine thousand, nine nine hundred and
ninety nine Yeah say nine hundred and niney nine ten

(01:26:36):
last gun Finer greatest stakes winner of over a million,
two hundred nineteen thousand, Sharp Semiwai greatest stakes winner of
more than a million, one hundred and eleven thousand, chival
Greatest six winner more than two point one forty nine
two million, one hundred and forty nine thousand, carve a
Greatest stakes winn of over a million. Ten percent of

(01:26:56):
first Samurai folds now we're talking folds now, not starter.
Ten percent of them have earned black type first Samba
I won a Grade one Champagne won a Great one
hopeful at two, and he is one of the few
active sons of the Great Giants Causeway. It's for more
on first Samuel are the sayings out of Cleveland Farm

(01:27:16):
called Bernie sam a F I have nine nine h
seven two through three and the website is Clevelandfarm dot com.

Speaker 1 (01:27:25):
Oh Hope Well insurance agency in Paris, Kentucky. Really really
really terrific company.

Speaker 5 (01:27:34):
They're great.

Speaker 1 (01:27:35):
They're an insurance agency. We've been with them from my god,
I don't remember how long. No, what the thing is,
it's such a key Well. There's two things that's important
to me. Number one, it's a small town agency. It's
not connected with a big giant, mega corporation that you

(01:27:59):
have to say hello to somebody and God knows where.
What they are is. They're independent, so they don't have
to work for a certain company. What they do is
they've taken a carefully selected group of financially sound, reputable
companies so they can shop around. So they'll shop around

(01:28:22):
for you to get the best coverage at the best price.
So because of that, they will give you a no cost,
no obligation review in comparison of your insurance. Now, the
other thing I think is great. It's like I said,
it's a small town atmosphere. I mean, they do big

(01:28:44):
time work. But when you walk in the door, they
say hi. You don't have to push a button. You
call them up and they say hope, well and you
say hello. I think that's great. Anyway. They've been in
business since nineteen fifty five, and you can't be in
business that long without doing a good job period. Like

(01:29:04):
I said, full service insurance agency. Call them, it's a
local Paris number nine eight seven two three four seven.
That's nine eight seven two three four seven. Stop by
the office at eight twenty Main Street in Paris. They're
really great people and they'll do a great job for you.

Speaker 2 (01:29:26):
Wwtfam Georgetown LEXI WTF those a little everywhere with the
iHeartRadio app now number one for podcasting.

Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
Now back to Horsetails with Ursua Ellis.

Speaker 2 (01:29:40):
Okay, that's touch with Docia. Oh okay, well sorry it
on this. Let me give you some steaks winners. Oh
ninety nine percent of them in Kentucky Bridge. Yes, let
me give you yesterday steaks. These all these results are
given to you by Kentucky Third Bead Owners and Breeders

(01:30:01):
Association KT and it's Chauncy Mars. But yesterday they ran
the als Abides Stakes out at Keenan when it was immersive.
A two year old Phillypy Niquist read by Godolphin, also yesterday.
The Grade two Jessmine Stakes at Keenan My Day Ready

(01:30:23):
by Tapping read by White Birch Farm Ink yesterday. Come on,
we'll pick your things up. The Grade two Phoenix went
to Federal Judge by Army Mule read by Cape Lane
Farm yesterday. The Grade three Forturity at Belmont used to

(01:30:47):
be the big two year old race, but now it's
Grade three. What's the fraturity?

Speaker 1 (01:30:55):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:30:56):
Yeah, it used to be everybody with point for them.
One hundred and seventy five found dollar uh men tee
one that by City of Light Red by your police stables. Okay,
let's go back to the others now. The Grade one
five hundred thousard Joe Hurst Hirst Classic last week went

(01:31:19):
to far Bridge by English Channel read by Kmed. I
better keep track of my time here.

Speaker 1 (01:31:28):
Well it's time for Darby Den.

Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
Yeah, let me give you a couple more and we'll
give you Darby Den and and mccaulay's yeah, go ahead,
what got doc? The Grade two do we? Okay? Doctor
you there?

Speaker 7 (01:31:50):
Yes, sir, I'm here.

Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
Well, I hear your voice. Everything going all right down
to Mississippi.

Speaker 7 (01:32:00):
It's a beautiful day here in Stark, Vegas. The football
team has the day off so we can so we
can't lose today, and it's good. And they're having a
I think they're having a dog dog or something out
in front of the school. Everybody's got dogs and I
got a big race finished thing up there, so I
guess there's a dog something going on today. Okay, okay, well,

(01:32:31):
oh well, we had an interesting case. We had a
fall as a younger fall I think it's four months old,
come in with logic signs. It was literally normal and
then was showing ner logic signs and you know, off
and behind end, you know, noticeably a taxic and fold

(01:32:53):
progressed pretty quickly and died. And we're still trying to
figure out what is. But we we ruled out rabies
on it. We ruled out herpes virus. Uh, it'll be
a little weird for it to be herpes virus, but
we're still tested for it. But the spinal fluid says infection.
We're still waiting on. Uh, you know the Eastern equine

(01:33:14):
stuff on my lightess or you know, sleeping sickness. I
haven't seen that in years, but it could be West Nile.

Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
Also.

Speaker 7 (01:33:22):
We're waiting on that to come back yet because they
can test brain issue for that and look for the
DNA to the viruses. But you know, the big thing
this foal is neither the foe nor the mayor had
been vaccinated, so you know, it's just wide open for
over mosquito born diseases like West Nile and and the

(01:33:46):
Eastern equine stuff on my lightest, which you know, I
really have seen that for a few years, but it's
you know, called sleeping sickness because the horses, they're neurologically
affects the brains, so they'll appear really sleepy. And I
guess I've seen two or three of them, and every
one of them have had I got called out because
the horse was I thought the horse was calicky. Then

(01:34:08):
we start looking at it. They got a fever and
you know, they're neurologic, but it both it and WESNLL
are spread by mosquitoes, and this time of year, kind
of late summer, early falls, when those diseases tend to peak,
and you know, they'll oftentimes show up in horses for
the show up to humans. Somebody here had told me

(01:34:29):
that I think there's been three cases in West Nile
in Mississippi in humans, but horses just have more exposure
to to mosquitoes and you know it kind of shows
up in them first before the humans do. But yeah,
those we have good vaccines against all those viruses, so
you know, it's just really important to booster those and

(01:34:53):
you know, I think most veterinarians would recommend to do
that twice a year. Yeah, I did twice a year,
even in Kentucky gets there, I've seen cases that occurred
more than six months after the vaccine, So you know,
I think it's worth keeping those tighters up, keeping those
antibodies up to help prevent it. Is that you know,

(01:35:14):
the Eastern Equincephalo my lightest triple le. You know, it's
virtually one hundred percent fatal both in humans and in
horses and west Now, if they've had at least one
vaccination somewhere in their life, they're less likely to die,
but up to thirty forty percent of those horses can die.

(01:35:35):
So if you're unvaccinated, you know, odds are a lot higher.
So you know, it's just important to make sure to
stay up to date on those vaccines, and you'll vaccinate
those marriage a month before they're do to give good
ant body to.

Speaker 5 (01:35:49):
The poles as well. So we'll find out on this.

Speaker 7 (01:35:53):
I uh, you know, I think it's probably gonna be
West Nile if I had to guess, but uh, probably
gonna be one of those viral diseases that you know,
if it turns back that you know, the sad thing
is that's preventable.

Speaker 2 (01:36:08):
Hum, well, you keep it down there with you.

Speaker 7 (01:36:14):
Oh well, you know, you see, I think there's been
a cacher to west Now up in Kentucky. When I
looked at it, seems like talking to the folks at
the diagnostical lab or maybe they put out a bulletin
one time that I think it's been a very long
time since there was any sleeping sickness in Kentucky. But

(01:36:36):
you know, it is west Now. And the other thing
about that is, you know, those those viruses are in birds,
you know, carried by birds.

Speaker 1 (01:36:43):
And.

Speaker 7 (01:36:45):
I think everybody can marriage. Well, west Now came over.
It was actually discovered by a veterinarian who was a
zoo vette. And if I remember this right, it was
in New York but I think it was the Bronx
zoo and they had flamingos die and you know when
the that went and looked and they found this, you know,

(01:37:06):
this new virus, uh that caused that. And they think
that what happened is maybe mosquitoes were on some cargo
ship or whatever and brought it over from you know,
Europe or Africa and got it in the United States.
But it started in New York and of course now
it's been in every every state and continental the United

(01:37:26):
States and.

Speaker 2 (01:37:29):
Again.

Speaker 7 (01:37:30):
And when it got into our birds, especially blue jays
and crows, it was more likely to kill them, but
it would get to these birds and it becomes endemic.
You know, they they make anybody to it, so don't
get sick from it. And the mosquitoes like to feed
on the birds from their babies because they don't have
much reflex to make the bird the mosquito go away.
So it's kind of a to me an interesting life

(01:37:52):
cycle that you can get birds, mosquitoes, and humans and
horses or dead ends for those of those infections, but
you know, can sure affect us all. So when it's
in horses, humans gotta be careful put that, uh, mosquito
repellotons you don't get to west now.

Speaker 2 (01:38:11):
Yeah, well that's we needed taken care of me. All
those horses at given inoculations and everything to those horses,
add their old friends, so that's right, they're covered.

Speaker 7 (01:38:25):
You know, they're older horses, so I think for sure,
and those older ones you gotta do it twice a year,
you know, the Laybells vaccines once a year. But you know,
I think if you live somewhere, we've got a prolonged
mosquito season, which you know, really we'd have in Kentucky too,
up till about Halloween or so. You know, I think
it's worth boostering them because it's you know, it's can

(01:38:48):
be wells eastern it's devastating. Uh and if it's west
now you know, it's still sixty tence. Your horse will live.

Speaker 2 (01:38:57):
Okay, my friend is now, I'm running late, and we'll
talk to you next week.

Speaker 7 (01:39:05):
All right, see you later, Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:39:09):

Okay, I want to talk about Sally horse Van. They
are absolutely terrific. It's the leading horse transportation company in
the United States and North America. It's just they are
so picky about what they do that they build their

(01:51:14):
own vans period. They don't have to shop around and
do other kind of stuff. It's all from them, and
they're always open twenty four hours. They come with a
ninety percent plus approval rating and you can't go wrong.

(01:51:34):
They have all kinds of stuff they do. They do
stuff like old friends, They move horses for old friends,
and you can't go wrong. And everybody in the horse
business knows about sally Vans anyway, then in the horse
business for seven decades. So whether you're going to ship

(01:51:58):
across the county, across the country, remember sally Vans are
always in tiptop shape, person behind the wheels, an experienced
driver and experienced horsemen, and that's how you have to
do it. They wouldn't have it any other way. That's why,
for more than oomt do decades of Sally Vans, the
safest way to the Winner circle their local number two

care of the tracks, all the tracks of Keenan. He
takes care of all the tracks. And these tracts are
in great shape. It's it's a great place to board
your horses out here, if you can get a stall.
