(03:36):
Well, good morning everyone, andwe are here in the sweat box
at the Thoroughbridge Center training I know, the Kentucky Training Center. Here on
a Paris bike and it's a littlestuffy in here, but it's it's getting
better. Some blowing on my back, Ressie, I got some of those.
(03:57):
I got two of those little handywhatever you call them. They blow
out cold air. I'm feeling it. It's feeling a little bit better.
But you're right, it started outpretty pretty rough. You havevery stuffy.
Yeah. So anyway, I gottasay something real quick. It's fun.
Today's my birthday. Who but I'mon Facebook now, I'm not on Facebook
(04:19):
for any you know, we're otherthan I can keep up with people.
I have my cousins California, Arizona, Tennessee, all that kind of stuff.
So this morning, first, happybirthday. God, Lizzie Mayer,
she used to she's in Ireland.Wow, she was here. I think
(04:40):
she's Robbie Lyon's niece maybe. SoI got a happy birthday from Ireland.
Then I got a happy birthday.Remember Nati Kelly. Yeah, he used
to ride here, move to Japan. Yes, and he's in Japan.
I got happy birthday from Japan.I mean I just say. And and
(05:00):
then Aaron Pulling. What's the nameof that pretty woman? That that girl?
But the movie star real pretty thanone? Who know? Anyway?
Lamar Yeah, yeah, anyway,Aaron Pulling is the girl looks like the
(05:24):
movie star in pretty woman and Ican't remember anyway, we met this girl
once at something at Keeneland and she'sone of those who who sit down and
say, oh my god, youlook just like you know. Anyway,
she is a She lives in Shelbyville, and she is a three day competitor
(05:50):
sponsored by one of our sponsors,McCauley speeds, Oh the College. Yeah.
So in that neat, I mean, we well, happy birthday,
thank you, Japan, Ireland. You didn't mention a year. Yeah,
I didn't mention what well you were? Oh, I don't have to.
(06:11):
I'm moved to Ko now. Theday that we know that the date is
important, the year is not. That's it. That's exactly right. But
I thought that was funny. Ireland, Japan and shelby built right off the
bat. That was fun. That'swhat I like about Well, that's a
good thing about Facebook. Yeah,I see people's birthdays and little things like
(06:34):
that that are that's that's good.Well, my cousins are scattered everywhere,
and nobody lives in northern that anymoreI know, so it's a really good
way to keep up with them.So how are you well, I'm doing
fine. Old friends is doing fine. It's been quite a summer that our
all of our tours uh have beentotally booked. It has really been quite
(06:58):
a year. And of course it'smy first year, so I compared it
to the previous years and we're up. People are loving coming to old old
friends. We got the coolest newvideo and I think I may have mentioned
it, but we got a sevenand a half minute video that we show
all of our gifts that come in. Will so say, for example,
(07:18):
they've come in, they've said aload, and I'm going through just like
a like a little virtual quick tourhere. They'll sell lo To to Birdstone
and they're on their way up upthe hill and Channel Maker and Red Knight
they'll say say hello to and thenlittle little Silver Charm and Michael will greet
(07:40):
them and then the next thing youknow, you're with Silver Charm. You
know, it's just great and bythat time you're ready for a drink of
water or break and we go inand we got a seven minute video in
our wonderful Abercrombie event center and it'sreally really good. GD Hieronymous and Dons
Model and David Humphrey did it thatMichael kind of narrates a bit. I
(08:05):
do a cameo in there myself, but really what it is is the stretch
runs of the famous horses that livethere, and it's just you know,
and I know who's going to win, and I know, but I still
get I still get nervous, etyGermans. Then anyway, the tours are
really really going good. Ten o'clock, eleven o'clock and one o'clock. Just
(08:26):
a normal regular tour that you canbook online that's thirty dollars. Then you
can do all kinds of customized specialthings. You can do a founder's tour
with with Michael for like seventy fivedollars. Then you can do a super
dup or private tour, which isyou know, three or four of you
with Michael for a couple hundred dollarsand a bunch of stuff in between.
(08:50):
All you can do one with allone hundred and sixty five horses on the
farm, or you know, justlots of different things. So it's been
a really really fun on Summer.Had an interesting thing happen this year.
We have a friend and we beingMichael first and now my friend got himed
Bob Fulmer from up in New England. He's actually from Maine and he was
(09:13):
with us during at Saratoga during theBelmont. And he's a great he's a
really good, you know, horsemanand loves you know, loves to handicap
and all the rest. But hishis vocation is historic preservation of you know,
restoration of buildings that are historic andso forth. Well, he has
(09:35):
come down and visited and taking alook at an old dry stone structure that's
on Dream Chase on our farm inGeorgetown, and then also what we believe
to be the quarters for enslaved people, the slave quarters on our new farm
at Hillcrest, as well as thisreally intriguing cemetery at Hillcrest. One of
(10:03):
the very first people in this areawas a Downing and he built that house
at Hillcrest in eighteen o five, that one that's up on the hill on
the hill, and that's been expandedupon and all that, but the core
of it is eighteen oh five.Wow. And and so there's so much
character on these farms. And there'sa lot of character on the old you
(10:26):
know, on our old friends farmsfarm, the old one in the new
one, and I you know, this is really going to be interesting,
and I think it'll be something we'lladd to our tours. You know.
By the way, there have beenhorses on this land for not just the
last few years, but for thelast few hundred years, you know,
And so it's just it's been areally really interesting, interesting summer. Do
(10:50):
you know that by one of thosehouses, I don't know where it is.
Michael told me it was over youhave a sinking spring improvement. Know
what that is? Yeah? Ondream Chase there, Yeah, yeah,
on the Yeah, on the originalfarm. Because a lot of times people
don't realize what those are and theycome in and they think, oh,
(11:11):
well, that's it's a creek whelp, you know, And because we have
one in the back of our place. And I took pictures of it and
outlined what they were and why theywere they in shape, and I thought,
I'm not sure, but I thoughtthey were protected. They may be.
(11:31):
And that's a good reminder, becauseyou got somebody in another century worked
very hard to make those things work. Oh wow, and that's what kept
them alive. Now, I think, Michaels, I think the one out
where you are is brick, andit would have been hand made brick.
They didn't go down the lows andso, and the one that behind our
(11:56):
house is stoned. Wow. Andyou walk up to it and it's real.
It's one of the biggest ones I'veseen. It's twenty thirty feet wide,
easily beaty, and it's about twentyfeet deep. And what the people
did that owned that part pack therebehind us. They ran that. You
(12:18):
know, they took three sided coldwater. They would let it overflow to
a cattle ponds kind of a thing, and then there was a lower cattle
pond. Kind of wonderful stuff, great engineering, but they had to do
it, and they did it ontheir own. You're right. They didn't
(12:39):
hire a contractor those things. Theynever never run out of water, and
they never never freeze exactly. It'sgood. It never creeks and go dry.
I mean, the one that we'vegot is yay close to the creek
back there, and that's a bigthe size a piece of water. But
(13:03):
it would freeze or it would sometimesgo dry. And these things what they
would do is they watch in thespring called a wet weather spring, and
you run into them. I hada horse one time in high school that
was in a paddock and every springthere'd be this big section of smushy watered
Oh yeah, yeah, and that'swhere they knew to dig. Yeah.
(13:28):
I just I just think they wereso clever about stuff. Clever clever as
the right word. So that's beenit's been a fun and interesting summer that
way. The other thing, sincewe bought this new farm at Hillcrest,
you know, we have had horsesthere for a while just out of people
being nice to us. But nowit's ours, so we're we are now
(13:52):
repairing the paddocks, starting to rebuildthe paddocks and changing them around, making
them a little bigger, and innew we'll be putting in new waterers.
Eventually we've got brand new waters inour operation at Ashton Grove across the road.
Our wonderful retired friends there, retiredhorses and retired human people. That
(14:15):
operation is just really really going well. And how many horses you have over
there, We've got twenty it aboutto be twenty seven. Oh that's nice.
Yeah, and no, that's weAnd we actually moved a few over
there just to kind of give everybodya little rest, some paddocks and give
some people some breathing space. Andwe did some work over there to allow
(14:39):
for more horses to come. Andyou know, they have told me the
ownership of that of that group that'sout of Cleveland, that they are going
to document the advancement the help thatthese horses are giving in terms of memory
Cared. It's part of the MemoryCare pro Wow. And I mean it's
(15:01):
just it's just a reminder of thesehorses just keep giving and giving, you
know, they just do things forus all the time. Right. So
we're really excited about really excited aboutthat, and we're excited about what the
future holds that the new farm atHillcrest, that's still remains to be seen,
but I think we're going to havesome good partners and it's going to
(15:22):
be really interesting. Michael, Idid not realize. I go in to
see the boys to the back.Yeah they're lane, Yes, And that
is a nice house. And Michaelwas talking about that. I thought that's
what he meant. But that's notthe big house. It's not the big
house. I went on through Betsyand I gave the boy their boys in
(15:45):
treats and all went on down andwent on up to that house. And
that is it sits up on ahill. That's the eighteen oh five,
yes, And it's beautiful and it'sgot a lot of trees around it,
and it's got a porch all theway across the front, yep. And
it's because of the trees and howit's built. It's got a Genko tree
(16:08):
that's that's probably one hundred and eightyyears old or two hundred, you know,
and that's yeah. People say thatthe ginko trees in this area all
came from Henry Clay. Now Iasked. I asked Eric Ward over at
Ashland the other night. He goes, he goes, that is what everybody
says, and there's there was nodoubt beautiful at least one, maybe more
(16:32):
Genko trees and they're not native onAshland when Henry Clay was here. But
he still we can't find any letterswhere he talks about gingko trees yet.
But that's what everybody. Everybody says. But no matter what happens, that
ginko tree, that beautiful right infront of where you were, But that'll
that'll stay on. And you knowthat that cemetery people were born it's like
(16:56):
seventeen seventy wow, I mean, you know and died there. Uh,
you know, you think that therewere British subjects, you know, they
when they were bad, you know. So it's just it's just an exciting
time and historic kind of transformation forold friends. But the normal day to
day life for all of our horsescontinue, and I have learned that we've
(17:21):
got some we've had wonderful friends overthe years, like Shadwell before that they
closed their operation, donated trucks tous for the farm, right, and
that is it's really been wonderful. But now this is getting on to be
like twenty years old. And soif anybody is out there listening and and
(17:44):
perhaps your farm is ready to tradein some uh, some trucks that you
know, maybe what you know, ten years old or something, you're looking
for a tax right off? Right, remember your old friends and old friends
who would who could make use ofthat? So just a little just a
little reminder, we're there and wecould, we would make good use of
(18:06):
them, and it would that itwould help the horses, and the horses
would very much appreciate it. Souh but even still, our trucks are
find our wonderful staff is doing great. Volunteers are amazing. Hey, did
you go to the wedding the volunteersgot married, Yes, and it's dating
(18:27):
service. I'll tell you. Thelove is in the air at Old Friends.
The romance is just blooming. AndBill and Barb got who met as
volunteers at Old Friends, got marriedat Old Friends in the Abercarmbee Center and
it was festive and wonderful and joyousand everybody had a great time and and
(18:52):
every every guest got carrots to gofeed both all the horses, and uh,
it was really it was really wonderfuland it's a great venue. Yeah,
Michael was talking about it, youknow when he was there of going
to the wedding. I just thoughtthat that's right, that was last week.
We just think that's good. Yeah, the whole Old Friend's family and
(19:15):
a lot of of course, thebride and groom's friends and family were there
and it was just, yeah,it was very very Little Silver Charm made
an appearance, you know, listen, little Silver Charm, that ring bearer
or something he's I think he hasbeen. He didn't provide that service this
time, but but he wished thebride and groom well and he did.
(19:36):
How's he doing in this he it'sawful. Oh, he's you know he's
at least thirty six. We're notsure he could be older. So you
know, there are days he feelshis feels his age. But just when
you think he's uh, you know, maybe getting a little a little tired,
all you have to do is say, and I hope he's not listening,
say Ginger snaps wow, and theboom he just bolts for my goes
(20:00):
back door where he knows he's goingto get this Ginger. I love it.
That's outstanding. And they and thetourists are our guests. Love that
that. Yeah, and Michael andhim have got the whole routine down just
just from it's hilarious. Yeah,it's awesome. We had a new horse
arrived the other day. You know, we know Carlo Carlo Baccareza, who
(20:23):
is the uh trains and owns heLittle He was the trainer and owner of
Little Mike, but also it's famousaround these parts as the owner of Frankendino's.
He had a kind of a Idon't know if it's it's from the
same damn as little uh Little Mike. Hey, Jude h a y Jude
(20:45):
is the Yeah, that's love itand uh so she was the damn of
Little Mike. Well there's uh wonderfulgreat dapple gray horse named Militarist who had
a respectable racing career one a coupleof won an allowance race and and a
maiden and and but as ready toretire, and he came and he's only
(21:10):
I think he's six, uh geldingand he is just beautiful. And so
he's an example of probably nepotism andthat he's related to Little Mike. So
he gets you know, so he'skind of a special you know, he
gets, he gets good. Hehe got into the door a little bit
and uh and he's just he's justcool. He's just one of those horses
(21:34):
that as soon as he got offthe trailer he said this, this is
where I belong. And you couldtell that that our guests are going to
really like him. He loves people, and you know it's a reminder that
we yeah, the Royalty of racingand silver Charm and I'll have another and
love a man? Are are youknow a millionaires like game on Dude and
(21:59):
and a Little Mike and those guysare all there. But the other,
you know, the other blue collarhorses that that did you know, did
well? One you know one someor at least tried to win some.
They're there also and we love themtoo. Yeah, well are two.
Well, you know, made sureone about one hundred and eighty thousand back
when it was one hundred and itwas a lot of money back when that
(22:22):
was that was money. Yeah,so that's wonderful reason we got him.
Somebody called us said there was anold horse up at River Downs. He
was going to be destroyed and uh, he was going on a dead truck.
So we, of course when Jackand I went and looked at him,
he was beautiful. He really was. He still is still still still
(22:45):
is good looking. He's a prettyhorse. And so we got him and
we didn't look very closely because wedidn't want to. But when we got
him home, he turned out hewas stood. We had to take care
of that because he thought he wasgonna breed everything there on the farm and
(23:07):
he had fed. Luck. Yeah, he had us glad to keep him
in the stall for canlope. Yeah. I was in the stall forever.
Yeah he could he could barely move. Yeah he was. But now they
talking about major yeah running around outthere like his real name, it is
difficult to remember. So I namedhim after my grandfather's horse, the Confederate.
(23:32):
Yeah, my grandfather was a Confederateveteran. You know, he died
you I was born in nineteen thirtyone, and Urso always said he comes
from a long line of losers.Yeah, he was on the wrong side,
but he was sure, yeah, right, but anyway, always right,
(23:53):
but always sure. He used toride. I don't think he was
ever in a car. No,that's true that I rode right up and
he lived to be ninety two.And he lived he was riding up in
the last couple of three weeks beforehe passed away. Wow. And we've
got pictures of him at Homewom Major. But that's the first horse I can
(24:15):
remember, because when he did passaway, we got his horse to take
care of, you know, likewe were the old Confederate friends at that
time. But he used to leadall the parades in town. He and
Major in Hersel's grandfather. Wow,how the story went. Ma'am off told
(24:38):
my mother she would stand in thereand somebody said, oh, here comes
old Colonel Vick. Never worked aday in his life, and it was
a Labor Day parade. Well,we've got pictures of him. He used
to ride into the old courthouse downdowntown, up those steps. Yeah.
(25:00):
Oh yeah, he did all kindsof the newspaper local newspaper used to be
printed and said it was a marvelousdisplay of horsemanship. Oh really yeah,
riding Major. He was a hewas a postcard. We've got a couple
of those postcards. Yeah, hewas on a postcard that you could do
in Major. So Major's name liveson anyway. But this was in in
(25:25):
in Paris. That This was beforeyou were in Dixiana. No, no,
this is I yeah, Okayington Yeahthose steps up the courthouse in Lexington.
Yeah wow. Not only that,he rode up into the lobby of
the Phoenix Hotel. Were they happyabout that? Not too? Yeah.
(25:48):
He was doing all this and neverhad a drink of liquor in his life,
you know, had been dead drunkto do it. That's fun.
Yeah. Well, well they continueto give us more than we give to
them. Yeah. Uh so wenamed losers in Major. We call it
(26:11):
Major. Okay, yeah, buthe won you Julip top at King right
now? Is the other one thethe other one Tubby? Yeah, he
was forgot where he was and hewent ahead once he got mixed up in
one. Yeah, he was.He used to look around. It made
used to drive us crazy. Hewas, he was. His attention span
(26:33):
was nil. He's looking around andguy blinkers. That made it worse.
The blinkers made it worse all thearound. I told the writer, I
can't remember who the writer was thatI said, look, keep his horse
on the inside. He was deadAlaska and it was a mile and a
half, believe it or not, mile okay at King Okay. Yeah,
(26:56):
and on the dirt, on thedirt, wouldn't any grass all that time.
It's not this is He talks onit after his racing career, and
Hanson said they couldn't get to thebottom of it. And he'd hunt for
hours. You couldn't get him tired, could not get tired. So I
(27:17):
told him ride. He said,he likes, he likes to look around,
So keep him on the inside. The horses. And he came right
up the rail. He was deadlast going down the backside. And I
said, well, then he startedpick up one by half a link.
He used to nip and then hefell in love with Betsy, and Betsy
would hang on the fence and hereach over and and all that kind of
(27:41):
stuff. BET's in a wheelchair andthe wheel were there, you know,
and he'd hang his fence head over. Oh he's good. You bid everybody
else well, he collect of abouthis friends. I wanted to say to
last time I was here, wehad some technical issues and I'm not sure
(28:02):
my good friend are old friend's goodfriend Joe Bochan up at Saratoga at Anne's
Washington Inn. They the porch. It is the birthplace of old friends,
and they've got the banner out front. Oh Ann's Washington End birthplace of old
friends. And they were wonderful.Patricia took me over to Cabin Creek,
(28:25):
which is our old friends operation upin New York. And I got to
meet Commentator on the day of Commentatorsteaks at Saratoga and they had a nice
party, nice brunch type thing atthe farm there. They've got beautiful,
beautiful forty acre operation at Cavin Creek. So if anybody's up at Saratoga,
(28:45):
it's only like twelve miles from thetrack. Are you all going up?
I'm going back. I think, you know, Michael and I went up
together this time. I think I'mright now as we speak, I'm going
to go to the Whitney and Ithink he's going to the Travers, So
we're good. Yeah, so youhave somebody at each yeah, at each
big at each big deal. Uh, that's a tough you know, it's
(29:07):
a tough assignment with this new job. You got something you just got to
do. Yeah, I know,it's hard. Well that's how I said,
Well, what else is going onhere locally? Coming up? Well,
well, I don't know coming up. That's like I said, these
tours are just going, just goinggamebusters. And so get online and it's
(29:32):
amazing, you know you're talking aboutwe were talking about online stuff and Facebook
and all that, and I mean, I don't want to jinx this,
but but we just don't get badreviews on you know, it reminds me
review on my phone. Something cameup and you were talking. It was
a local television station. Maybe itwas out interviewing or something. What was
(29:57):
that. Oh, it's hard tosay. There's so many, so many
that are coming, you know, come out and talk to us about about
this or that. I have beeninvolved in a project in Red River Gorge
and they interviewed me on that. That was on this week. That was
something that was something I've been workingon since before I got to old friends
(30:19):
on a on a sign project therethat may have been what you heard this
was the horses and it had itcame up a picture of Michael. But
you were the one that was doingall the talking. Oh you know,
I'll tell you what light up racing. This new group is doing a whole
lot of media and I think that'swhat that was. Oh okay, but
(30:40):
it was so funny. I wassitting there and all of a sudden I
heard your voice. What and thenit picked it up and yeah, let's
it's good. If it came overthe phone, that's probably what it was.
Because they are really really on topof the social media and all the
things, uh, putting the goodword about all the good things that's going
on in racing. I'll bet youthat's our friends that light up racing good.
(31:03):
That's excellent. Where are they locatedhere? Yeah, well they're coming
one of those there everywhere. Butthey I'll tell you who really helped get
them started with Phasey Tipton, Uh, boy Boy Browning and and those guys
really have been behind them. That'swhere I went to a seminar to learn
to learn about what they're doing. They're teaching us all about how to say
(31:23):
put put the best foot forward forracing. Yea, for those people that
are critics, you know, criticsof racing, how best to deal with
all those kind of things. They'rereally doing a great job. Well that's
good. Have you been anything elsecoming out? No, we're just working
hard and having a great time andthe horses. Uh, I'll say the
(31:45):
say hello to you guys. Good. Did you tell good Nick? Nick?
Yes, he's back in town.Oh yeah, he's here for the
summer, so you'll you'll be seeingthem walking the street there pretty soon.
Good. Yeah, I'll have tobring him out and bring him out that
(32:06):
fun. I see him again, see him? He was always my favorites.
I think when tackle eligible one,I was in the circle. Yeah,
I was running down the steps andthere was Nick. So I snagged
him. I did. He didn'thave a chance that I said, come
(32:27):
on, come on, drug himout there. Picture it's so much fun.
Oh that's great fun thing. Yeah, that's great. We'll tell him
you settle out. Yeah, allright, thank you for coming by.

In nineteen seventy five, well onJune the twenty third at Hawthorne, the

(50:52):
for more on the stallions over SpenceryFarm. There's some nice people to to
call over there. It's the BreedersFarm. By the way, called is
a Mark O'Brien or Daniel eighty five? Ye thirty Take it to the website
which is spendserfarm dot com. Oh, I get to say something about Hill
(51:12):
Parker. Buddy, Hill Parker isa two sided person. Is not how
you say that? I don't knowanyway, He's got two okay, yikes.
Hill is a horse farm land specialist, full time realtor. Now,
(51:37):
how you what makes you really goodat that? Is? For one thing,
he's he's a certified by everybody asa realtor, I mean National Association's,
uh, local Senior own so onand so forth. He's excellent.
But the other part that's real interesting. He's a licensed horse trainer in eleven
(52:00):
states, years of experience, thillbreads, racehorses, jumpers, steeple chasers,
box centers, everything you name it. He's a lifetime million dollar club member
of the Pony Clubs and so onand so on and so on. He
lives it. He's got it.He's got How many acres do you buy
(52:22):
back here to train on this?I don't know sixteen. I think right
behind the training right behind the trainingcenter. And now what might makes that
important? Here we go. Ifyou are looking to buy a horse farm
or develop a horse farm or whateverall that stuff's about, he's the guy
(52:43):
you need to talk to because he'sdone it both. For instance, he
knows all about zoning and rags andstate and local regulations and all that stuff.
And he also knows how to cleana stall, et cetera. So
you have to find out what yourprimary purpose is. Are you gonna breed?
(53:04):
Are you gonna train? Are yougonna ride? La la la,
la la la. He's done itall, and he knows what to recommend,
and that's you don't want to puta barn in the wrong place because
you can't move it. And thesame way with fences and roads and so
on and so on. Anyway, you can't do better than Hill Parker.
And he's so enthusiastic, and Idon't think he ever gets tired. And
(53:31):
and he's got a lot of nicehelp too, with his daughter and his
wife, I mean his wife, excuse me. Yeah, he looks young
enough to be his daughter. Therehe goes, he's got two gorgeous girls.
Yeah. Yeah, he's a goodguy. He really is. Nice
family, nice family and of courseeasy place to get in touch with.
(53:54):
And I think the best thing todo is to go to his website,
which is Le's horse Fall dot comlex l e X horse Farms dot com.
And let me give you his phonenumber. It's the Electionington number because
he lives in Lexington. Eighty fivenine of course six year oh eight eight
zo three nine. It's Hellan ReaganParker of great horsemen and a wonderful guy.
(54:20):
And so's his bride. I'd trusthim with my last dollar, So
give him a call. Now backto Horsetails with ursul Ellis. They're running
a couple other stakes up at KingdomChurch will Dance today. I think I've
got him over here listed stakes.I know at least there are at least
(54:44):
two they're running the American Derby, which used to be competed up at Arlington
Park, which is I don't knowwhat the hell they've done with Arlington.
I don't know. It's a bigdeal. All we're gonna develop that,
we're gonna do this the other thing, and the whole day gone. They
closed the track and the whole thingfell through. There's just one tire one
(55:07):
track up in Chicago now Hawthorn.Yeah. But in the American Derbage two
undred and fifty seven, three yeold is going to mount on the sixteenth.
It's on the grass, green lights, got the rail. Number two
is the moonlight. Number three isFreedom Principal. Uh. That's the three
(55:27):
old from the first crop by flameAway. He stands over Darby Dan horses
doing very well. If you wantto find his name on the list of
leading two year old sires of freshmansires from last year, just look up
those lists and start at the topand you're going to find him right there,
right close like a nooss is numberfour, penounce not right or Agett
(55:52):
Road is number five. Number six, excuse me, is to pict First
World War. It's number seven. It's a warfront. As you might could
have figured that out. Who standsover at Cleband Farm on the outside is
(56:13):
a brilliant Bertie by Noble Mission. They also running the tepping to say T
E P I N. It's gota feel of eleven and it's for three
old Philly. It's going a mileon the grass. What race is that
anyway? I didn't say, butit goes off at six thirty two,
(56:36):
so I guess it's And the otherone is American Dervige at four point fifty
eight, So I guess they wererunning during the day, did they the
tepping It's got a feel of eleven. Simple in front mo Fox Giving is
number two. He's a motown Kathyand Marissa is number three by American Pharaoh,
(57:04):
who course stands over at Ashword Study, Triple ground winner, Voodoo Magic
Fold in France France is number four. Poolside with Slim is an Irish Bread.
Number five, Number six is MyBrazilian Girl. Number seven is Kodiak
Wintergreen and Irish Bread and Pipsy andIrish Grid, both of them by Kodiak.
(57:28):
The Diamonds a Dozen Diamonds, whowas by Mendelssohn and Uh who's of
course over at Ashford study and anothertriple Crown winners are number this number eleven
just better by Justified and both Mendelssohnand Justified stand had Ashford stood? So
(57:50):
anyway, that's so the races overat they're the running a bunch of races,
uh stakes Acid Woodbine today. Ohit's Woodbine is on Eastern Standard time,
isn't Yeah, I'm pretty sure atthe same time as we've got well,
(58:15):
they're running there, Kelly's landing upat Churchill to Dann Stair. He
used to train out here. Oh, that reminds me you were doing that
commercial on Run Happy, Yeah,Run Happy train here. Oh yeah,
from the very beginning he was there. Yeah, he got all his background
and all his date work and allthat jails. Right. I remember walking
(58:36):
in this was after I'd retired.Yeah. I walked into the clock and
stand when they just picked up awatch and the horse was just breaking off.
Yeah. And if you know,if you run go five ages of
a mile and one o two somethinglike that, that's flying on this track.
Yeah. He came down there infifty eight and chained whoop, And
(59:00):
I looked at the clocker, Isaid, who the hell was that?
He said, that's the horse namerun Happy and he's pretty good. Yeah,
I remember that. That was fun. They took him up the turf
where he was all over the trackand he won. Who first started up
there? Yeah, Then he wentto Ellis Parker one. Then they sent
him to New York and run himin the greatest stake up there. Any
(59:21):
won that too, Never got beatthat was never got beat. Sprinting,
Yeah, of course he ended upwinning the Breeders you know, Eclipse Award
as a Champion sprinter. Yeah, when the Breeders Cup sprint when it was
out, I think that was thefirst one they were running. Kleenland a
heck of a place of train,I'm telling you, yeah, I know.
Yeah. But anyway, well Kelly'sLanding trained out here too, and
(59:46):
it's two hundred and fifty down outthe plot and it's not graded two whels
for three yelds and I've going sixand a half faarlongs uh. Aronarcher anarchist

the top Si practical Joke, Ason of uh In the mischief stands over
with assist close the game. Sugaris number six, but Gervin Gervin stands
at uh Airdri Stud and of courseuh this one closed. The game Sugar
(01:00:31):
was was bred by Burt say Jones, who was the founder of uh Eirdri
Stud and Sgar is number seven.Number eight is Bango and uh one of
the one of'ems by anchor down. I don't know that horse, and
the other one is by Congrats.Who's I think it was a half brother
(01:00:57):
to flatter. Oh yeah, prettygood time. Well it's almost blood is
nine o'clock. I want to sayhappy good morning to Betsy. Yeah.
I was hoping James would be inthe day it's becoming and calling in.
So it just showed in, justshowed up. Well, come on in,
James, what we got? Whatyou got is Airdrie. Oh okay,
(01:01:24):
well let me do that well.According to the statistics published by the
Blood OAFS magazine, the nation's leadingSouth of two olds and leading freshman side
this year, it's Complexity and Edrewssaid eight have already won. All eight
won at major tracks. Complex Janwon her debut in New York by six
(01:01:45):
and a half links earned Rising Starstatus from Thurbo Daily News and is headed
for the Grade three Scoular Hill. She's a half sister to the multiple Grade
one winner Jack Christopher french Horn andtwo starts when a maiden, specially the
Woodbine and placed in one hundred andfifty thousand dollar Last Story Mistakes at Saratoga.
(01:02:05):
Holy Grew won her first start bytwo and a half lengths at Churchill
Down. Mensa won his first startthat was a gold Stream Moplex one first
time out at Belmont at Acuadorm.South Wind won at Churchill in his second
start. Holligrew won his first startat Churchill Down and then the Suite m
B won his at Churchill Downs. Also so six of the eight one at
(01:02:32):
First Asking and one made in specialComplexity of Siren Runners. And on top
of that, the sales two yearolds sold for an average of one hundred
and two thousand, seven hundred andninety two dollars this year, and that
was before any had an opportunity towalk into the Winter Circle. Complexity won
(01:02:52):
a Grade one. Champagne as atwo year old won a Grade two Kelso
watched for Juillings at the sales, and the first place is I would look
if he is in the consignment fromdrew Stood if I was looking for a
yearly because burden See Jones, thefounder of dres Stood is a nation's lead
reader of twenty twenty four stakes winnerswith twelve so long as you call Shannon
(01:03:15):
Nakau at eight five nine eight seventhree seventy two seven and take a look
at the website which is drew Stooddot com. I was hoping about James
Scully, hoping he was going toshow up this morning, and he just
made the seeing and the seeing andhe can tell you a little bit more
about good morning or sub Jackie resHee. Uh yeah, just uh,
(01:03:37):
let me just add I mean,uh, Complexity and the Coma are the
two hottest freshman sires this year. He's off a real good start. And
Cairo Prince, I think their threeyear old division is right, probably an
up and coming three year old thatwasn't perhaps ready for the Derby this spring.
We saw Badden down whin the OhioDerby last week. Even mind frame
(01:04:01):
he wasn't ready for the Derby, ran second in the Belmont, his first
triple Crown appearance. Baffert has ahorse out there parenting that's undefeated right now
off of steaks win. And ChadBrown has a cold unmatched wisdom that broke
his made by five first time outthis spring and came back last Saturday,
and he's by Cairo Prince and thatcold looks like he's he's going right to
(01:04:27):
State's Company off this sixth month whenhe looked really really strong, got a
big number. So he's a threeyear old to watch out for as far
as Britain had. I mean, this is the closing weekend of Churchill Downs.
There's six stakes at Churchill today, five tomorrow, so eleven steak graces
over the next two days. Andwe've got all the handicapping reports for Churchill
(01:04:48):
Big Steaks Day. At Woodbine youcan get lots of different handicapping reports,
analysis, computer picks. We alsohave pass performance is, we have data
files, we have pedigree information andmuch more. It's a handicapper's edge Brisaine
dot com. Oh right, that'sgreat. And then I also want to
(01:05:11):
add the Yeah, the today StephenFoster Million Dollar Race Grade one. It's
a yet really big test for firstmission. He Looms is like one of
the top contenders. For the thisyear's Brooder Scuff Classic right now and comes
off a real sharp win in theAlisheba. Before that, he won the
(01:05:33):
Essex at Oakland Park, but thatwasn't a very strong field. He didn't
run well in Pegasus earlier this year, but may have had an excuse that
day. So this is a bigtest for him and Brad Cox seized by
Street since he's gonna take on apretty solid field. Another horse that's a
(01:05:55):
major contender that I actually give theedge too, because I'm a little worried
about first Miss and it's just ifa mile and eighth as his best distance,
I don't think he can't get it, but I think number nine,
Skippy Longstocking loves the distance and he'sreally starting to peak right now. He's
got four wins and he comes offa win in the Oakland Handicapped and I
(01:06:16):
thought was really strong. Was betterthan it looks in paper. He was
pretty dominant in there. He's youknow, last year, Saffy jokes if
he got all embroiledy and all.You know, he just had horses break
down and die of like hearty actorincidents at Churchill a pair of him,
and it was just a huge mess. But at the same time he was
(01:06:41):
overseeing the development of White a Barrioall the way until like May and then
Rick Dutro took him over and thathorse went on and you know, was
champion, was one of the breedersof Classic. But to me, Skippy
longstocking's doing the same thing. He'slike really hitting his best stride right now.
He loves him all eight distance.I think he's going to be second.
(01:07:02):
There's a chance Disarmed could actually bethe second choice in there, and
so I think I'll get a decentprice on the nine horse Aley Skippy long
Stalk and I will say Disarmed he'sa major contender. He came back.
He ran second in the Travers lastyear. I looked like it was except
for a good fall and then hadsome kind of small minor injury. So
(01:07:24):
he was off until at recent Allowancerace. He came back at Churchill and
it was a four horse spiel withno speed and he wound up on the
lead and it wasn't the prettiest performance. But he's just a fitness like I
think race that's just going to helphim immentally. And he's still a really
talented colt that could run a bigrace, So it's a three horse race
(01:07:45):
to me. I respect others likea Dreamlike and Kingsbarne, who are both
trained by Pletcher, and even Pyrenees. He's coming on for schre de Vo
off of a win in the PimlicoSpecial. But I do think First Miss
and Skippy long Stocking and disarm Orall the three major contenders, and that
makes very good race. The otherbig race on the program is the Florida
(01:08:06):
Leave for Phillies and Mayors. It'srace number ten and or race number eighth,
sorry, And in that race,I like Scilla. She's going to
be the favorite for Bill Mott.Silla is it Tacitus is young younger sister
Batten Daud's older sister or older. He's her younger brother. And she's just
(01:08:31):
starting to come on for Bill Mottright now, starting to peak, and
I think she's going to keep runningfaster, big races and she could be
really good this summer and fall againsthorses like Idiomatic and Randomized Too are pretty
much the top Phillies the mayors onthe East Coast. I don't think that's
a very deep division, and youknow, with they have the Kelly's Landing.
(01:08:57):
You talk about another division that isn'tvery deep. There's some promising three
year old sprinters out there, butas far as older horses go, there's
not a lot of like really talentedolder horse sprinters. There's a good one
in California and they're chosen drawn, but leaving him out of it. The
Kelly's Landing has a horse in thereclosing game Sugar that yus was running on
(01:09:17):
turf and synthetic and now he switchedthe dirt and he comes off a big
win over Skelly in the air ofStidies, and he's gonna look to try
to carry his form forward. Otherraces include We've got the American Derby for
three year olds on the turf.I like First World War First World War
(01:09:38):
in there for Brendan w wash offof the wind in the Pen Derby,
I think he's really starting to comeinto his own. He got the tep
In for three year old Phillies onthe turf. That's a more coptentious race
in my mind. I give theslight edge to asth Messen's Philly much better,
but that's an upset pick. Ithink Pool's side with slim and others
in there also have a good chance. And then we have the what else
(01:10:04):
we got? We got the turfrace that opens it all up, the
Wives Dan that has Autumn and Fleetwho's a big favorite in there, and
that pretty much covers all the steaks. There's, like I said, five
steaks at Churchill tomorrow. Got somegood horses running in some of those races.
And there's five steak races today atWoodbine. That's a pretty good card.
(01:10:27):
Uh fed Rover who was the oneof the Beverly d last year and
it was the horse of the Yearin Canada. She's running uh and like
the Nassau I think today. Souh yeah, it's some good racing today.
And next week's July fourth, soBelmont or Aqueduct. Belmont at Aqueduct
has a they got the uh,They've got a graded Steak on Thursday,
(01:10:50):
the victory Ride for three year oldPhilly sprinters. Then they got the uh
Brooklyn on our suburban brook and Ithink whichever one they didn't run on Belmont
Day, the Brooklyn on Friday, and that race is gonna have next Who
won the Isaac Murphy over nighted Stateson Derby week? I mean, he
(01:11:13):
set a new track record. Heran a mile and a half in there,
like two twenty six or something ridiculousor to twenty seven. But he's
gonna be in there on Friday andthen on next Saturday at belmonted Aqueduct.
They have they have all the Gradeone turf races. They got some Grade
one turf races for three year oldslike the Belmont Derby, Belmont Oakes,
(01:11:33):
and several other graded states. That'scoming up. Oh, I'll tell you
a lot coming up. I'm justwant to ask, just for fun,
horses peak. How do you keepup with peaking? Because it seems like
if they go out and bust,I mean, then they're gonna peak,
(01:11:58):
unless they're man of war and thenthey're gonna go further or what what do
you do? How do you considerthat? Do you em just thinking?
You know, I mean, itcan be obviously subjective. I mean,
and you're looking at the form,so you're looking at the past performances and
looking at like their numbers or they'rehow they've been running these races, and
you're just sort of you know,I mean, horses to me, they're
(01:12:20):
they're basically they're either improving or they'redeclining or they're basically just static holding their
form. I mean you see alot of claiming horses and yeah, and
even quality horses. I mean Manof War. You know, he wasn't
you know, he was still developingas a three year old, but he
got to a point where it's justyou know, he's just the best horse
(01:12:42):
running. But it would have beennice if you have been facing some bigger
fields. But but really that argumentfor another day. Well, it's interesting
he made the others look bad.Yeah, it's not so much too.
And I've been looking at the foreignstuff and they will go out and they
(01:13:04):
will run two or three or fourtimes at a particular meet where they have
to ship in there's no and thenthey'll turn them out for a couple of
months. So they figured at thepeak, well they're trying to get him
to essentially peek and they're trying toget him to top form. But it
doesn't always work out that way.Yeah, you know, the horse has
(01:13:27):
to you know, in a sense, be moving forward, and sometimes for
whatever reason, they don't, youknow, But yeah, they basically,
i mean, if these trainers havea routine in a way, they build
these horses up their works, they'reyou know, preparation and you know maybe
(01:13:47):
a prep race or maybe just youknow, they just train them, you
know, get them really fit offof you know, off of the layoff,
and can they can fire. Imean, so it's certainly some trainers
in the US and her horses especially, they can come back off of long
layoffs and and run big races.I mean, heck, when Regret,
(01:14:09):
when Regret won the three year,When when Regret won the Kentucky Derby,
I mean when' she making her firststart since the Hopeful or something like that.
Yeah, so, I mean, you know, times have changed,
but I mean that used to bea part of it. I think she
was like sort of a little bitof a enigma because back then, in
that era of horses ran like twentyor thirty times a year, and she
(01:14:31):
ran sparingly. He would give hertime off and the first Now, but
she was way better than people evenremember give her credit for. I mean,
she was a Hall of Famer andshe ran some really she ran a
huge race like in the Brooklyn orsomething at age four h she ran second,
threatened to win, and got likenailed laid by. I forget who
(01:14:55):
beat her. Begins to the sea. But that race had like three Hall
of AMers and three Derby winners andwas like I saw a story once on
that race. It said it waslike consider like arguably the deepest toughest race
in America in the in the twentiethcentury with the Brooklyn or Suburban when Damascus
(01:15:21):
buck Passer and Doctor Fregar ran theWorld Ward. The World Ward in nineteen
sixty seven, when Damascus buck Passerand Doctor Freguar ran one two three,
that was a great race, absolutelyyeah. So yeah, so you know
what piece of history there. Helikes the doc Mato or God didn't never
(01:15:45):
get a ride out of me exactly. Well, you've got to remember that
he was never allowed to run andthen he said a record just about it
every time he ran. Oh yeah, he really didn't against time moving anything
else. Yeah, for sure.Pictures of him and running. Well,
he was the owner though. Iremember watching Swaps said the world records in
(01:16:08):
Hollywood Park. Oh yeah, hefinished with the rider trying to pull him
up. You know, he wasbrilliant. He's under He's another horse that
was sort of underrated how brilliant hewas at times. Swaps he was he
was great. They the owner ofMan of War thought that Kentucky Derby was
beneath him, so that his ideawas that he thought it was too early
(01:16:32):
in the year for a three yearold to be running that. You know,
that was really had some funny ideas. He ran. He certainly ran
more Admerald in the worl Away andthe Uh he ran worldway in the Kentucky
Derby, no problem. Who didmore admiral were? Yeah, riddle and
(01:16:55):
more Admiral? Right, that ranagainst Sea Basket. I don't think so.
I thought he did. He mighthave, Yeah, I think he
did, but you know, butno, I'm just saying at the time
though it was a thing where hey, you know he would he could have
shipped him to Churchill Downs and runhim in that race and he probably would
have won it. But it wouldhave been nice to see him, Mike
(01:17:15):
even take some a little bit ofa step like that, because he won
a lot of like three four horsefields and you know, like you said,
he was just running inst the clock, you know, because he was.
He never he never broke from astarting eight. He always ran from
a string. Yeah, and hewas a little difficult to handle, uh,
(01:17:45):
at the breaks because he wanted togo. Oh yeah, he was
gigantic. Yeah, he was bigand strong and he u when it was
race time, he'd be real, real, real focused. He wanted to
go. Yeah, was he was. He was all business. They would
say, and uh, there's usualones. Did you ever give him anything?
(01:18:06):
He says, good old money.I said, I couldn't hold him
on the ground anyway. No,I'll never give him anything. And well,
fun, Well, we're glad yourback. Well, thank you,
and yeah, I enjoy the restof your weekend. All right to church
or you TV in it. Yeah, I'm gonna follow it from home.
(01:18:28):
Yeah. Yeah, that's a lotgoing on. Yeah. They started el
US this week, like I guessThursday, Thursday might be opening day and
Thursday is the fourth right right, yeah, and uh yeah, so they
got a stakes day there and theyget underway and then Colonial will get ready
to open up here in a littlewhile, and they're looking forward to meet.
(01:18:50):
I think they're they're a big SteaksDay is going to get even more
better. There's gonna be some moreinternational horses, look like shipping the Arley
two million in Beverly d what's goingon up in woodbind they running all those
stakes today? What about holiday? Is nothing up there? I don't know.
(01:19:11):
I think Dominion Dad's coming up.But that's like July second or first
or something. I don't know,July first. Yeah, so they always
run stakes on that day too,That's Monday. So they'll have steaks on
Monday. Yeah. Wow, Wellthey're having the past excuse me, they've
opened on that day and runs. But I'm out one hundred percent sure about
that. All right, my friend? Are you guys having you stake you
(01:19:33):
for coming in? Right? Allright? Well? The Great one Metropolitan
Handicap first run in eighteen ninety one. One of the nation's mostly historic races.
Past winners include the Whishperroom, TheSecond Mad Hatter and Gray Legs,
Sarah's and and Equipois and tom FuNative Dancers Killed, so Buck Passer four,
(01:19:57):
Gold, Holy Bull, Gold zepprnames this kind of ring available Great
Runners and Silver State. Now Istarted at Clabron Farm. He won a
Grade one Metropolitan as a four yearold. After back in twenty twenty one,
he won his first start as atwo year old maiden special at Churchill
(01:20:19):
Dance, won by nine and threequarter lengths. So he showed what he
was going to do. Followed thatwas placing in two graded states. In
the fall of his three year oldseason, he won what would be the
first of six straight races that hewon, an allowance race at Keenland won
to US seven. Following his scoreat Keenland, he moved to Churchill Dance
(01:20:41):
one of seven furlongs race up therewon twenty one and two. Then he
went to Oaklawn Park and won thefifth season SAX. He won the five
hundred thousands of Essex States. Therehe won the Grade to Oaklawn Handicap.
Then he came back and went upeast and won a Grade one Metropolitan at
Belmont Park. He retired to ClavenFarm and he had earned a million,
(01:21:03):
nine hundred and thirty three ninety fourdollars. Silver State is one of one
hundred and five stakes winners by hardSpun, the son of the Greek cleburn
sired Dancing. His Damn Supreme isthe daughter of the Belmont Stakes winner Empire
Amerker. His second damn is afull as sister to Kentucky Derby winner Monarco's
Classic family. Silver State's first foldsof yearlings You're gonna watch them out at
(01:21:27):
the sales. Now major you do, couse, you're gonna like what you
see and form more in the stallionsover claven Farm called Bernie sam A five
nine nine eighty seven two three threeold. Take a look at a website
which is Claverronfarm dot com WTFA MGeorgetown wtfeelable everywhere with the iHeartRadio app now
(01:21:49):
number one for podcasting. Now backto the Thoroughbred Training Center and Ursa ellis,
I'm okay now I can talk aboutHope Insurance Company in Bourbon County.
I felt sad. We've been doingbusiness with Hope Insurance Company for years and
(01:22:11):
years and years. Couldn't be anybetter satisfied. No matter what we've ever
had a claim, They're right there. They take care of you. Let's
see. My favorite story is theFebruary that we got struck the power a
(01:22:32):
poll got struck by lightning or something. Anyway, sinded all our wires and
things started blinking and all that jazzand Ursul called ken McLean and they were
over there within I mean, Idon't know how quick it was, but
they brought the electric company Live Electricand they rewired enough so even though it
(01:22:54):
was February we had heat. UnfortunatelyI had to cook. They rewire the
cooking stuff go through an insurance companythat they work for. They work for
you, and what they do isthey have a really well selected group of
financially sound, reputable countries companies sothat they can give you the best coverage
(01:23:19):
at the best price. The otherpart that I think is real important.
Paris is a small town, andthat's the kind of service you get.
You call up. You don't havedepressed buttons. You say high as ted
there, yep or nope or whateverit is. It's it really works okay,
(01:23:40):
and they will give you a nocost, no obligation review in comparison
of your insurance. So give thema call. It's local in Paris.
Nine eighty seven two three four seven. Offices are eight twenty Main Street in
Paris. You can just walk in. They're great people. I'll do a
super job for you, all right, Jackie, I think we have a
(01:24:11):
friend. Yeah, Dr Aldridge.Let me hope that my hearing aids are
cooked in right. I hope theyare too. I hope are you there?
Yes, I'm here. Oh good, good to hear you. Yeah,
and we can't hear you how youdoing? And then pretty good.
(01:24:36):
I have a little bit of verdigo, which goes along really good with my
lameness. So I'm hoping I getover one of the other problems. I'm
not sure why I've heard ago,but I've had it for a couple of
days. Wow. I don't climbany letters. I don't think I could
(01:24:56):
walk to the letter right now.Well, she wis take it easy.
Yeah. Wow. Well, I'msorry to hear that you're having problems that
way, because I kind of relateto that a little bit. I have
a whole lot of problems. Youwant to borrow my canes? I got
some extra canes. I gotta tellyou. You know, when I got
(01:25:19):
to tell you a little story,I had lost my canes. I've got
one of those canes that stand upby itself, you know, And I
tore the house down. We lookedeverywhere, could not find it. And
uh so she went to Walmart andbought me two more canes. I walked
(01:25:39):
out the other day outside with thedog, and uh, I looked over
to my left and they were standingoutside. I had uh Jackie was in
the restroom. I had to goto the restroom, so I went outside
naturally and then country. So anyway, she went and bought my two new
(01:26:05):
ones, and I found the oldone. So if you need to need
to need a Kane, let meknow. I will send one down to
you. Hey, he might needa Kane. That's not a bad idea.
Yeah, all right, enough ofthat, bro, what's going on.
I'm sorry to hear you're feeling badthough. That's I think I'm getting
better. It's just it's been maybesteps. For sure. We had an
(01:26:30):
interesting case. It was folly camein for neurologic disease and you know,
had been normal earlier in the day, and when it came in it was
pretty a tactic unstudying its gate. And it had some pretty abnormal behavior too.
(01:26:50):
It would kind of walk over ina corner and purl its neck towards
its chest and with sort of cheeone its chest, almost like it was
really itchy. And yeah, attimes would act like it couldn't quite take
(01:27:11):
in things correctly. You know, some behavioral changes have normal behavior. And
you know, this time of yearis a little early, but it's the
right time of year to maybe haveWest Nile. This farm had always n
accident, had really good for everything, and so we decided to do a
CT scan on it CAT scan becausereally for the folds, because they're smaller,
(01:27:36):
you know, the prices are cheaper, and and if if we do
the nts ourselves, it ends upnot being a whole lot more than just
taking regular radiographs X ray. Sowe put foe in the in the CT
and you know, luckily didn't showany fractures or anything. And then we
(01:27:56):
got some spinal fluid and it wasbloody. And the one thing I always
worry about when it's bloody is youknow, it's possible as you can create
that blood yourself, and you gothrough therese there is a blood vessel in
there, and you can hit thatblood vessel and you know it bleeds.
It'll make spinal fluid be bloody.Because normal spinal fluid looks just like tap
(01:28:17):
water, should be totally clean. That it had had some blood to it,
and so did the tappen. Itwasn't other than just look like a
bloody tap than lucky, you know, and so we decide to go ahead
and treat the foe. Luckily,if you treat them for trauma, you
(01:28:38):
know, just just getting hurt somehowreally it's the same treatment as this for
West Nile. With West Nole tojust have to treat ump inflammation and kind
of keep up with the virus. And you know, seventy percent of time
horses gets West Nile, they'll comethrough and be fine. So it treated
(01:28:59):
the horse, little Foe with antiinflammatories the next day it is probably you
know, eighty percent better. Endedup coming back negative for the West Now.
The I haven't seen a West Nowcase in forever. But the way
we test for those is there's aspecial test to send off for and it
looks for the antibody that the bodymakes when it's in contact with the virus.
(01:29:25):
So your your body makes different typesof antibodies and one it makes when
you get acute infection to a disease, it makes what's called IgM anybody,
so it makes that one first, and so it differentiates that vaccine antibody.
But Foe was negative for that andresponded well to the treatment, so it
(01:29:48):
ended up going home. So gotlucky on this little fold that you know
trauma, because you know a soulseverybody knows that probably the biggest rule out
is just that they gone out inthe passed. You and hurt themselves somehow,
and and we used to see itcoming. The Weenland's gearlans get turned
out together early on, and youknow they'll play with each other and run
(01:30:12):
into each other and do all sortsof things to each other and and get
trauma. But kind of goes backto the old treatments everybody's used to.
You know, give them some steroids, give them some mso if you like
the ms O and uh, somebanamine and and just try to get that
a demon swelling out of the spinalcord and you and most of the time
(01:30:33):
that'll that'll do the trick, unlessyou have a fracture or you know,
epm fis fold was I think twomonths old if I remember right. The
earliest dpm's ever been reported three orfour months one or the other of those.
So it we didn't test three PM, but we could just just play
(01:30:55):
the odds and did the shotgun therapyand got lucky and we're able to I
mean, if you're able to runone through a cat scan, you know,
it's really nice because you can seethose fractures that they're there. One
thing I have gotten into is vertebralfractures. There's so much soft tissue around
those vertebra that they really won't showmuch displacement of the bone, so you
(01:31:18):
can look on an X ray andreally not see any problems, but going
through a cat scan and see ifthere's a there's a break in there,
just a soft tissue holds it togetherso well you won't see it. How's
your cod doing? He's doing well, thanks for asking. He's starting to
(01:31:39):
walk totally normal. So hearing aboutanother I think he's got about another ten
days or so. They're going toget another radiograph of him and hope his
bone looks good and then maybe keephim up for another couple of weeks and
then hopefully get him back. Sohe's moving pretty well normal in the stall
(01:32:01):
and ye before he would stand onit good, but he went to Yeah,
he did his stride. You know, he kind of dragged that leg.
Wouldn't drag it be he just wouldn'tmove it normally behind him. But
now he doesn't do that anymore. So I think we hopefully got pain out
of it, helping that get straightdown. I can't really feel much swelling
(01:32:23):
in it anymore. So he's he'sgetting there. He's he's growing quite a
bit that's for sure. Well, good luck with him anyway. All right,
my friend, I hope you havea good weekend, and I hope
you have Vertigo rose away, sodo I being lame in vertigo both is
(01:32:45):
not not a good day. Sothank you. I wish I had could
send you one of my cane isdown there. I got a cane.
All right, Well, will Davin, we hope that everything turns out.
I hope you're getting better. Ihope your coke gets better, and we'll
(01:33:08):
talk to you next week. Allright, thank you, ta bye,
y bye. Well uncome O sighedmore than one hundred stakes winners. Studfe's

maave me a little work. CanI say how to Texas Terry? Yeah,
our buddy in Fort Worth, Yeah, she sent me a happy birthday
that was. And I'll tell youwho else, said Mindy Mindy Cook Johnson.
Mindy is the proprietor and owner andmaker of varn In waterers the best,
(01:37:14):
telling you there's never been a bara war water better than that.
It's brilliant. Everybody used to haveI forgot what they're called, but they
would. They depended on balance, which drove you nuts, you know.
But anyway, one day Cube cameinto the house fussing and complaining about the
(01:37:38):
waters, and she said, well, you're the smart invent one, and
by golly, he did. Andit's the best ever. I mean that
they're just super and the parts youbuy the parts at the hardware store.
Yeah, brilliant, really is so. Varn In waterers called Mindy Cook many
(01:37:59):
Cook Johnson Johnson. Yeah, anyway, bumped into Mendy into post office.
Yes, it was yesterday, theday before yesterday. He was yesterday.
Yeah. Anyway, I walked outof the post office and there was this
guy laying on his back half undermy car. I said, what the
hell's going on? What are youdoing? He says, oh, I
(01:38:21):
said, I got a kitten. And he got out and he's up under
your car and he's climbed up underthere. I said, I got my
hand on him. I said,oh, for christ, you know.
So I went and I says,look, I got to I got just
picked up my newspaper. I'm sitin the car and read the paper while
you finally get the kittenapp from underthere. Well I was. While I
(01:38:42):
was sitting there, Mendy walked up. That's great, he said, how
so, how are you doing? It was Mendy. So I got to
talk to Mendy for about a goodtwenty minutes. That'st well. That guy
was getting the damn cat nap frontof him. Yeah, but there was
a cutter, he said. Heshowed me the kitten. It was a
little bitty thing. Oh and itwas just as it could be, you
know, so, but that's sweet. Yeah. I didn't. I don't
(01:39:04):

put a lot of folks in thewinter circle. He didn't do it for
you too. Watch what jewelings haveto sales. You're probably looking at a
runner stands over Spencery Farm and thenthe leading freshman serves of twenty twenty three
(01:42:50):
Omaha Beach, Matoli, Vino Russoand Maximum Mischief and all four are ranked
among the top five on the secondcrop sorlies this year. That's the racing
last weekend, Omaha Beach is theleading Sarah twenty twenty four stakes winners.
He had five plus five others asthe Urn black Type and men totally at

three stakes winners plus three to placein stakes Vino Russell as a pair of

winners plus six to earn black type. Of course, the nation's leading Sarah
in the Mischief also stands over atSpend three Farmer, as does his son
Golden Census right now rank fifth onthe sire list. Both both all at
(01:43:36):
spend Thrift Farm. The breeders Farmer. What you need to do is called
das or mar O'Brien or Daniel eightfive nine two nine four years zero thirty.
And want to thank everybody and sendmarriage to their stallions for the seve
breeding season this year. If youwant to book America next year, give
them a call. The numbers twonine four years zero thirty in the website
(01:43:57):
Spendthrift Farm dot com and Sali Van. I love sally Vans. They've always
been there when you need them. They're always in great shape. You don't
have to worry about the driver orthe driver knows what he's doing. The
driver probably has handled ten times asmany horses as you have, and that's
(01:44:18):
experience now and that you can't dowithout it. Everybody in the horse business
knows about sally Van. They've beenthere, Oh my god, seven or
eight decades. That's a long time. And they, oh, they can
service your rig too, So theirnumber two five, five nine four oh
(01:44:40):
six. So think about that. When you're going to the racetrack or the
horse show, or your kids goingto pony club, you can always depend
on sali Van to get you there. Especially I used to that's eve years
ago, as in the pony cluband a sali Van would come up and
out would come a little pony aboutI don't know, small, every kind
(01:45:06):
of safety device on that pony.Uh someone it's head, the blah blah
blah. They'd be their legs wouldbe wrapped. These are pony kids.
Yeah, and they'd get off thatsally Van like they were man of war.
It was wonderful. They're great. You can trust them. It's a
local number two five five ninety fouroh six. All right, let's see
(01:45:31):
now that I was going to talktalk about the winners of the Florida Lisa
Fluid de Lache Steaks, which they'rerunning the day up at Churchill Down and
the nineteen to the second running ofit was nineteen seventy six and the winner
was a Philly named Pego hop byPago Pago. She was rid by miss
(01:45:55):
E K. Thomas over in BourbonCounty. Pigo Hopp was standing and pig
o' pigo was standing at Clayman Park. Yeah, and I read two stakes
winters during my lifetime and one ofthem was by pig o' pigo. You
and that was a Philly name ofall my Mary's and a reasonally she won
(01:46:15):
steaks, Yes she did, anduh he speak one of the politely steaks
up there because I had sold herto Allan Jerkins. Chances are if I
trained her, we trained it witha broke ad river downs five. But
anyway, she went up there, she beat her real beautiful bread Philly and
(01:46:36):
the marriage sold for over a milliondollars in fold one Leginski or something like
that. Yeah. I was workingfor doctor McGee farm secretary at that time
out at Wynton Farm. Yeah, and uh that was their Philly and oh
my Mary's Peter. Yeah, andI just sort of looked yet, you
(01:47:00):
know, I didn't want to putha ha ha ha me right out of
the parking lot. But anyway, nice people out at Winton. Yeah,
I had met Allen. He'd broughtthe horse down here to run, had
some brought horses down here at Canaan, And I had met him when he
had a marrior name Duck out thedoor that he had trained he'd won a
(01:47:23):
little stake with down at the oldTropical Park. Yeah, and he wanted
to see her. He came inand introduced himself because I knew who he
was as soon as he walked in. He watched TV. You would have
known him. Yeah, And wetook him out to look at her,
and you know, and anyway, while he was there, I know for
(01:47:44):
at the same time or not, because he visited several times after that he
saw my marriage and uh and brokeand bought her. Yeah, and he
named it as a matter of fact. So anyway, sheues, I feel
like I said, I've read twoSteaks winners run of my life when was
(01:48:04):
all my marriage but Pego Pago hestood for a thousand dollars over at Clavern
Barm. The other one was myhard work. He stood for a thousand
dollars at Dixiana. But that wasabout all I could afford at that time,
and I had to borrow that probably, Oh that's funny anyway, But
he gave me. I think hegave me an eighteen thousand farm. You
(01:48:28):
know, I priced her at twentyand yeah and knocked off for him.
That was pretty That was pretty muchmoney in those days. Oh yeah,
today, Pego Pego, you knowhe went on inside fifty five stakes winners.
She's a little bit better than anempty stall. And this one was
(01:48:49):
Pego hop who won that Flew toLee was out of a count fleet mayor
and I don't think she ever producedanything now, she never did, but
she won. And then in additionto the Fluid de Lesse, she had
won the Debutante Stakes, placed inthe thel Mistakes. That was them.
(01:49:15):
Also besides the Fluid of winning theFloor to the Lee, she was second
in the Furrow Sale and the panzerrettafive year old, she placed in the
Furrow Sail. Again. She woneleven times and earned one hundred and fifteen
thousand dollars. Eighteen times she ranthird. Can you imagine that? Now?
(01:49:36):
She had eleven wins, eight timessecond and eighteen times third. That's
awful, isn't that. I don'tunderstand how that worked. I don't know
either, But you won one hundredand fifteen thousand dollars didn't money the money,
and oh, yes, it's inthe money, I know. But
(01:49:56):
you would say, yeah, let'ssee where are we now, coming up
Pretentil. You got five, six, seven minutes. We're out here at
the training center. Yeah, andwe were looking this morning. Everybody's out
galloping and all looks good. Ithought about something about training center the other
(01:50:21):
day. I can't remember where Iwas going to say. There's plenty of
parking, you know, stuff likethat. Yeah, plenty of places to
graze horses. There's all kind ofstuff out here. We've had one,
two, three, six winners fromhere that I know of since last week.
(01:50:41):
Paula Lobo had a windowed horseshoe Indianapolis. John Ennis one won the Churchill
Downs. It's the Irish Trail.Yeah, I mean he's doing really well.
Yeah. Justin Wazouski had raised onewindow a bell Terra. Michael ann
Ewing had another winner. Jackie. She's been rooking her. She's been on
(01:51:03):
a roll. She had one upat bell Terra and then John Ennis in
addition to win one at Churchill,he won another one at a bell Terra.
So he used to doing very well. That's sixth that I know of
from heresins last week. Of course, this is a great place to train
your horses. It's an atmosphere andit's very quiet out here, and the
(01:51:27):
horses can relax. You can grazethem. Oh yeah, it gets to
it real quick because they're surrounded byhorses. They're safe, it's calm,
they get to eat, they getto gray. It's the whole nine yards,
got everything, and not a bunchof stupid traffic. I want up
with that one. I mean theywere way back from the pairs. Pike's
(01:51:47):
got a nice two tracks, anice grass gallop here, real laid back
atmosphere. If you're looking for oneor two stalls or something like that.
It gives him pentagas to call twonine three eighteen fifty three. And if
they full up, just get offyour high horse and walk through the shed
(01:52:10):
sheds each barn and see if somebody. We've got a couple of stars that
want to beliefe. Yeah, that'sa great way to do it. Nice
people too, they're nice people outhere yet. Yeah. And the number
out here is two nine three eighteenfifty three is a Lexington number, third
bed training center where we where weare sitting right now, Little's in Paris,
(01:52:36):
California. Club sandwich and a croissant. I don't know what that is,
but they've got carrot cakes, andI hope they got tomato pie.
I love tomato pie. Okay,go ahead, Well we at home with
your Your sister from Shelbyville is comingdown and bringing dinner. Yep, bringing
(01:52:57):
for my birthday, so I don'thave to cook there you go, Okay,
how much travel? The guy atfour minutes? I got one more
flew the lead winner. See shewon it twice. That's the reason I
put her in one. In nineteenseventy eight, nineteen seventy nine, she
was by likely exchange. It wasabout terrible Tiger, Terrible Tiger ah and
(01:53:26):
he sided sixteen stakes, so hewas about horse important. Horse was a
very good side named Amariko out ofproprietors by your host, and likely exchange
was out of a Swapsmeyer named alikely swap. And she had won the
le Tonia Championship in the Panzaretta Handicap, the Scarlet Canation Stakes, won the
(01:53:49):
Warrensville Handicap of Marigold Stakes, placedin a bunch of other steaks, so
she was pretty good. Kind ofa race Mary likely swapped for and in
addition to likely X say like likelyexchange. She was the damn of a
really nice horse named Cram fresh byRich Cream. That's a great name.
(01:54:14):
He won the Jockey Club Gold Cup, it won twice, won the Super
Derby, Grade one, won theMeadowlands Cup, Grade one, won the
Belmont Stakes as a three to oldin nineteen seventy five one, the American
Derby, and the Jerome W.McKnight Invitational, Patterson Handicap, Don Handicap,
(01:54:36):
the Derby Trial, Tropical Park Handicaptwice. What a pleasure stakes any
place in kind of know how manyothers stakes races. But anyway, see
that was the first foe out oflikely exchange Cram Freshman. The next next
(01:54:58):
live fold was a nineteen eighty sixa Philly name Dream Deal by Sharp Enough,
and she won Grade one Martha MarmathOaks and the Grade one Gazelle went
third in the Alabama, and shewas the dam of a Grade one Steaks
Wanner named Clear Mandate. They said, well, let's turn out I didn't
(01:55:21):
really that was this good. Soanyway, it was all kinds of black
type down to there, strong magnet, solid deal the last four was evil
A know you. They sent herto England, ended up in Japan.
She won an England and she wasthe dam of the stakes, went over
(01:55:42):
in Japan, so the dream schemewas out of there. She won the
Churchill Dance Distaff. It was gradetwo second to my charmer, really really
nice, nice pedigree. Hey,remember what we were talking about, Aaron
pulling that girl. It's so gorgeousthat three days and yeah, McCauley's is
(01:56:05):
one of her sponsors. She lookslike Julie Roberts. Oh yeah, she
looked just like her. I thought, strides like a dream. We met
her out of Keenan. Yeah,I thought that was mean of celebrity,
I said, I thought I was. Yeah, we were some kind of
(01:56:25):
a dinner out there at Keenan.I can't remember she was sitting there.
Penny Tweety was there that night.Oh that's nice. All right, it's
time for me to bail out.I think that's redundant. You're either out
or you're bailed well, whatever, whatever. We will talk to you next
(01:56:46):
week and have a great weekend. How about me? Betrayed keeps love love
(01:57:08):
