Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to the home of the Huskies, the Krek
and Seattle's best NFL Draft coverage in the twenty twenty
five NFL Draft. Now back to Suffian Dick, proudly brought
to you by Emerald Queen Casino on Sports Radio ninety
three point three KJR FM.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
All right, we are back here on a Monday night.
From the Emerald Queen Casino sportsbook. It's a giant game.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
I love using that drop.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
I feel like we should give missus Datino a couple
of bucks every time we play that.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
By the way, because her husband is not a giant.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
Game is it's a giant game.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
He's with us on the radio from Wfan Giants reporter
Paulie d'attino.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
Paul, how are you man, I'm doing well, softy haws.
It going out there good.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
So this is the highest the Giants have drafted since
they took Saquon Barkley number two in twenty eighteen, and
that worked out pretty good. The question is who do
the Giant fans and Giant front office personnel want the
Browns to take at number two or do they really care?
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Either way?
Speaker 4 (01:07):
You are very asked a two headed question because there's
still a segment of the Giants fandom that is insisting
they take a quarterback at number three, and it doesn't
matter who the heck it is. They all read that
Shador Sanders is the number two quarterback in this draft,
and so there is a segment of the fan base
(01:30):
that is demanding that it's a Chador Sanders or they
will want to burn down the facility. Wow, these people
don't make any sense to me. I have no idea
what is in their morning cereal, but that's what this
segment is talking about. There's another segment of the fan
base that is like, Okay, we get it. Carter and
(01:52):
Hunter are the two best defensive players in the draft.
They're blue chippers. Whichever one Cleveland takes, the Giants will
get the other one. And those people seem to be
okay with that. But then it seemed to trade back
up into the bottom of the first round so they
can still take a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Me.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I'm of the opinion that they don't have to do
that at all. I would be fine if they don't
take a quarterback in this draft and they just go
after the best player available in each and every round.
They have five picks, in the first one oh five.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
You know, how valuable do you think the third pick
is if somebody wants to trade up to them, Because
you know, there's a lot of people who think there
are only three stars in this draft. So if you
have one of those first three picks, maybe that's maybe
that's your amo to have potentially moved down.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Do you think the Giants would do that?
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Well, I know they've been taking phone calls, there's no question.
Joe Shane even admitted to the fact that they've been
getting phone calls. But here's the problem when you try
to put a value on the number three pick. First
of all, we don't know the specifics of the medicals
on Abdul Carter's foot. Now we all assume that Cleveland's
(03:07):
taking Travis Hunter. Did they take him in your draft? Yes? Okay,
So that means Carter is there for the Giants at
three if he is healthy. And the Giants medical staff,
which is ultra conservative and in many years they actually
cross guys off the board and eliminate them from contention.
(03:30):
If they think that Carter's foot's a problem and eliminate
Abduel Carter, that becomes a very difficult problem for them,
because I don't believe the Giants' staff is all in
on Shador Sanders. Therefore they should not take him. If
you take Carter off the board, the next best player,
(03:53):
in my opinion, and I think it's pretty strong, would
be Mason Graham, the defensive tackle out of Michigan. However,
the defensive tackle draft is so deep that I don't
think they want to take a defensive tackle at number three.
So this is the predicament you have if you try
to put a value on that third spot. What is
(04:16):
Carter's injury status? The other problem with this and you said, hey,
would people want to come up and go get the three,
Well only if you really believe that Carter's okay. But
if he is, then the Giants are going to take them.
And if you really think that you want to go
up to number three to get your Dorsanders, well that
(04:37):
be my guest. Why don't you just overpay and give
the Giants a whole shopping lot code of you know,
load of picks, because I can't see any team in
their right mind would want to do that.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Well, the one thing the Giants should be doing then
is spreading the word to the entire world.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
That Carter's foot is just fine, even if they don't
think it's fine.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I didn't have some sucker move up and give them
what they're looking for at number three. But Paula Tino
wfan with us on the air, is that what you
think they'll do? Honestly, when it's all said and done,
Travis Hunter goes to the Browns at two and just
let's not make this complicated.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Abdol Carter is a giant number three.
Speaker 4 (05:18):
Yeah, that seems to be the way it's going to go.
And Softy, I love what you said. We all know
that general managers would lie to their mother's face during
this time of the calendar. That's just the way it
has to be, and mom has to excuse them. She's
got no choice. But I will tell you this. Joe
(05:38):
Shane was asked in his pre draft presser just the
other day about Abuel Carter's font and said, Okay, I'm
talking to my medical staff tomorrow to get the lowdown
on all these guys who needed medical reachecks. But as
far as I know, you know, he just came to
visit the Giants the other day. He said, I don't
think the foot would be an impediment or a barrier
(05:58):
for us to take him. But as you just said
a moment ago, if you're a GM in that spot,
you certainly want people to think that Carter's quot is okay.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Well, Paul, you couldn't have two quarterbacks with differing personalities
like you have with Russell Wilson and Jamis Winston. Is
there going to be a legitimate quarterback competition or is
it just flat out Russells' is the starter period, end
of story, and Jamis is the backup.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
From the very second that Jameis Winston signed, I knew
he was here as the backup. There were people in
New York panicking thinking that Winston was signed to be
the starter or would compete, And that was never the plan.
It was always that the Giants were going to go
after two veterans, one guy to be a starter, the
other got to be a backup. And when Russell Wilson
(06:45):
came to visit the Giants earlier, they actually offered him
a deal. Joe Shane, after everything was over, admitted to
everybody that they had had Wilson in the building. They
had a full day of interviews with him. They liked them,
They offered him a package, and it took them eleven
days to get that negotiation done. They were not in
(07:08):
on Aaron Rodgers. They weren't waiting on Aaron Rodgers. Despite
what the rest of the New York media had to
say about it, It was all about trying to negotiate
a deal with Wilson, who obviously had a much higher
opinion of his value than the deal he finally settled for.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Well, I gotta get you.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
We got a ton of Russell Wilson drops that you
could use on your podcast and your show out there,
So all I'll email all these Yeah, I'll get these two.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
You It's unlimited.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
Welcome to my happy place?
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Are the Giants before you go?
Speaker 2 (07:42):
And you mentioned Joe Shane the GM and he did
say that he would be willing to play Travis Hunter
both ways if he felt a number three.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Is that correct? By the way, we're just real quick.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Yeah, he said, you could never doubt this guy because
his opinion is what do you call it? Talent is
off the charts right.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
So are the Giants looking to build around Russell Wilson
right now or do they look at Russell Wilson as
kind of a short term bridge too, whoever the next
great quarterback is, and hey, we're looking two three years
down the road here.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
Yeah. I think they look at Wilson as a short
term bridge. He got a one year deal. He's gonna
be thirty seven by mid season. Now, he's not gonna
be fifty seven. Let me make that clear. He's only
gonna be thirty seven. And he did play pretty well
for Pittsburgh last season. I think the Giants believe that, Okay,
you get them for the one year. You see how
(08:36):
it goes. If things go well, and they're happy with him.
Who knows, maybe they we sign him for another year.
But he has not looked at as a long term solution.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, Russell Wilson's gonna be thirty seven years old this
year old man. That is unbelievable. I still remember that
picture on drafting. Remember Ashton in the corner?
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Remember that?
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Yeah, and here we are and he's gonna be thirty
fricking seven. All right, Paul, I get those drops to
you expensive chair too.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
First of all, they're on the way. Baby, you're the man.
Hey tell the wife you.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Said already blessed us with his positive attitude. Everything is
sunshine with Russell Wilson. I'll tell you that.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Yeah, listen, when you're when you're one and six, that's
gonna get annoying real quick.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
By the way, all right man, good stuff. We'll talk soon, buddy.
Thanks pal. All right.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Paulatino w f A N with us on the radio
show thirty seven years old.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I got to send him the Easter weekend believable. That
might be my favorite one. Uh well, it was Easter weekend.
We're gonna break
