Welcome to the Sounders FC post matchshow. Sounders FC Sucker is brought to
you by Providence, Swedish official healthcarepartner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders
FC post Match Show starts now.Well. The run for the US Open
Cup for your Seattle Sounders in twentytwenty three has ended. It is a
three to one loss for the RaveGreen in Carson, California against the LA

(00:24):
Galaxy. Welcome into the postmatch show. Jackson Felts alongside Andrew Harvey and Keeley
Dunning. We are here for thenext half hour or so. Jacob Waldo
running our board. A great callfrom Danny Jackson and Brad Evans, but
unfortunately it is a loss for ourSounders in California. We'll be breaking down
a lot for the next half hour. We're gonna talk about this match,

(00:45):
what we saw in this loss.A lot of young players got time and
got performances and got opportunities. We'lltalk about that. We'll look ahead to
what's next for not only the SeattleSounders, but for Tacoma Defiance because Wade
Weber got a lot of players. There's some good run in this game.
So we'll talk about what's ahead forboth the Rave Green and Tacoma Defiance coming

(01:07):
up later on in the post matchshow as well. And then of course,
well you know we don't have aSounders Weekly on KGr this week,
so in lou of that, wehave Andrew Harvey here. And for those
who who listen to Sounders Weekly frequentlyfor the last how long have we been
doing this too long? I knowpeople have been have been dying to get
me off your show checks and ithasn't stucked yet. Well, I mean,
you are our Puget Sounds soccer expertand you've talked all things you can

(01:30):
take us around the sound each week, talk all things Defiance, ol Rain
and Ballard FC, which you arethe playlight play voice for for Ballard FC.
So we're gonna talk to some BallartFC later on in the show as
well. So for those who don'tknow, maybe you yeah, I didn't
hear. First season for Ballot FCwas last year and made it to the
Western Championship Western Conference Championship in theirfirst ever season, and now here comes

(01:55):
to year number two, so we'lltalk about that later on in the postmatch
show. So there's a lot toget to here, but let's start tonight
by looking at this match, thethree to one lost there in Carson,
California. You know, we talkedabout this at the halftime show, and
you know, everybody has a planuntil you get punched in the face,
right, And in the third minute, great long distance call biote and it's

(02:15):
a ball that Stephen Cleveland gets ahand to, just barely, but it's
really a fantastic strike into the upperleft corner of the back of the net.
And it is one nothing galaxy insideof three minutes. And Andrew at
that point, I know the Soundersend up playing well in the forty five
minutes, but that's really tough whenyou have to have a third minute goal

(02:36):
go against you on the road ina cup match. Well, it's it's
that old adage to the point ofbeing a cliche of how an early goal
changes a game, right, andit really causes especially for a young roster,
right. I think that we talkedabout it at halftime. It leads
that extra little bit of shakiness. Some of the touches in the passes don't
go quite where you're intending them tobecause you're a little bit flustered. I

(02:58):
think the Sounder has responded really reallywell. The young players in particular who
I think on the night, Admittedlythey were the Lion's share of the roster,
but I think some of the topperformers were some of the young guys
that Brian Spitzer turned to and said, get out there and show me what
you've got it. I think theydid that. They just came up a
little bit short, and I thinkbetween that early given up goal and then
really, in my mind, thismatch was so much gonna come down to

(03:20):
who scored the first goal at thesecond half, and it wound up being
La That's exactly right, and we'llget into the second half in a moment,
but you know, you're right, those young kids were having I think,
really solid games there as the firsthalf progressed. I mean the development
and the connections, the combination playfrom Ethan Doublare, Dylan Tevez on that
right side, their combination play, especially with Freddie Montero up top, and

(03:43):
Freddie Montero had probably the Sounders bestchance at the game in the tenth minute,
that the best chance that didn't turninto a goal. We'll get to
their goal in a moment, butyou know, that combination play from especially
Ethan and Read as well Read Bakerwiding on the right back spot that was
looking very very good. And youknow, one of the interesting things as
we kind of bleed this into thesecond half discussion, is the fact that

(04:04):
Brian waited all the way until thesixty third minute to make a change,
eighteen minutes after the second half started. And that surprised me a bit because
I was expecting to see a lotmore dual Paulo, perhaps Nicholas Ladario come
in early, but it wasn't.It was Susan and a Bieldosen who are
able to get into this match inthe sixty third and I think that is

(04:25):
a little bit of a nod fromBrian. Spenser is saying, you guys
are playing well. They're on thatright side, you know, Read and
Ethan, I'm not going to messwith things there. Well, you know,
not to go straight into like parentingmetaphors Jackson, but I think right
part of having the confidence to puta young lineup out there and saying,
let's see how you handle this isalso having the confidence to tell them,

(04:45):
look, you've gotten yourselves into ahole. Let's see what you can do
to dig yourselves out. Of it, and it was the young guys that
kind of sparked that goal and broughta lot of the momentum back. So
for Brian, I think particularly right, the Sounders want to win everything all
the time, and tonight didn't quitework out. You know, there goes
one shot of the trophy this season. But I also think the opportunity to

(05:06):
get young players minutes like this againstcompetition like Pooge and Chitcharrito and out Of
and so many other talented La Galaxyplayers. That was a first choice starting
lineup because the Galaxy could not affordto lose this game, Jackson, it
would be devastating to their hopes forthe entire twenty twenty three season. That's
exactly right, the Galaxy. Justlet's say it plainly, the Galaxy aren't

(05:28):
going to win anything else this year, so they might as well go for
the US Open Cup. Right now, they have three points in Major League
Soccer, They're tied for the worstteam in the league. They're having just
a terrible, terrible season. Soyeah, it makes sense why they would
throw out a top shelf lineup withRicky Pooge, who was I mean,
can we just spend a second RickyPooge is twenty three years old, was
in Barcelona's system and now he's playingfor the Galaxy. He was really good

(05:51):
a month a little over a monthago when the Sounders were down there the
two to one win. But tonight, wow, I mean that dude can
dominate and just take over a match. He was spectacular, absolutely, But
I will I will also throw outthere Jackson. He was I think less
effective in the second half for thetime that he was out there because he
came up. But compared to thatfirst right, I think Soda, Kittahara

(06:13):
and josh A Tensio responded pretty wellall things considered to trying to shut down
a guy who is very difficult toremove from a game. No, exactly.
A credit to josh A Tencio andKihara too. And you know when
we talk about the young guys,Georgie getting his first ever plays his debut
for the senior team. They're comingon for Kitahara in the seventy seventh minute.

(06:34):
Was good to see him. Hehas a lot of energy. He
I mean, he runs about ashard and as fast as anybody had a
trading session, so good to seehim get run in overall, you know,
just to continue kind of going throughthe timeline of this match. It
was the second goal, the firstgoal of the second half. LA scores
in the sixty sixth minute. It'sa corner bounces through right through the box.

(06:56):
It's Memo mon Rodriguez with his firsttouch since coming on a second earlier,
outside of the left foot, goesinto the back of the net.
They're on the left side to nothing. And then seconds later, I mean
it was like a minute later. You have a great build up through the
right side. Ethan Doublair sends ina fantastic cross and it's your player to
watch Paul Rothrock heading in the ballin the back of the net. And

(07:17):
I should mention that that is ourEmerald Queen Casino Play of the match,
Paul Rothrock's goal. Um, there'sno audio because I will take fault at
this when I accidentally hit the escapebutton which deleted the audio. That's my
bad, but I would tell youat least it wasn't the full broadcast.
Yeah, thank goodness. Um.The Play of the Match each week is
presented by Emerald Queen Casino, thebetting capital of the Northwest. And Andrew,

(07:41):
I mean Paul Rothrock, who hada goal in the game against San
Diego. Now second game, secondstar or second you know, second goal
that he picks up and listen. Not that Brian Schmitzer is going to insert
him in into the eighteen anytime soon, but it is a it's a massive
confidence booster for this kid wherever he'splaying for the next number of months.

(08:01):
Absolutely, just really quickly. Iwill say, if you had actually deleted
the full match audio, then youwould have probably led with tonight was a
night to forget. But no,right, I mean roth Rock. I
think it's one of those ones whereagain he's a young kid. He's not
quite as young as some of theguys who came through the academy pathway.
But the beauty of Tacoma Defiance inthis MLS next pro league now is you

(08:24):
can take some of those guys. There are a very good number of American
soccer legends who didn't go through anacademy. They played in college and sometimes
it took him a year or twoto kind of find their feet and play
their way into the professional sphere.I think we're in the early stages of
seeing if that's what's gonna be rothRock's tail. I think that's a good
point right there, and then we'llsee where this takes him. So Roth

(08:45):
Rock scores in the sixty eighth minutethat made it a score of two to
one. You bring on Georgie wementioned, and you brion Juel Paulo in
the seventy seventh minute, and JoelPollo did not play against Sporting Kansas City
on Sunday. This is what surprisedme a little bit that it took till
the seventy seventh minute to bring JPon as And now as I literally talk
through this, I think to myself, it's probably because Brian Spencer knows that

(09:07):
if that match went another thirty minutes, it's with Jual Paulo on the field,
and if you were to bring himon, say in the sixtieth,
that might be asking sixty minutes outof JP. You know, maybe what
you do is you you have himthere knowing, okay, if we get
a goal, if this thing ends, you know, to two and get
another thirty, that's field forty fiveminutes for JP, knowing that he is

(09:31):
going to be needed heavily in Saturday'smentioned Houston, so that that actually substitute
is I talked through, it makesa lot more sense. And you have
that sub, you have Ladaro inthe eighty third, and at that point
you have your big guns on thefield. You thought that it was going
to produce something. But I don'tthink they. I don't think that the
combination of JP and Ladero ever gottheir chance. With La scoring in the
eighty fourth well, Jackson, Ithink right, this was never a match

(09:54):
that Seattle is going to let finishas a one goal game. Yeah,
you know, it's one of thoseones where you see it all the time.
You see the score one, yousee three one, you go,
oh man, that must not havebeen very close. But it was a
competitive second half. Seattle was rallyingmomentum. But the end result of any
knockout competition is if you're chasing thegame, you're going to commit numbers for
it, which leaves some gas atthe back, and that led to Rodriguez's

(10:16):
second goal of the night, whichwas a tidy finish. It absolutely was,
and I think you saw that becauseyou see on that specific play in
the eighty fourth minute, the Soundersdo commit a ton of people forward and
then Raheem Edwards picks up the ballon the left side and Raheem Edwards ran
about fifty yards. I mean,he had pretty much the entire field to
just take off because there just wasn'tthere were there weren't those defenders there to

(10:37):
stop him. And by the timehe got to the box lays it off
to Memo, Memo Rodriguez, itwas just there's there's three defenders in the
area and none of them were onMemo and it's just, you know,
it is what it is. Sothe end of the day, that is
the third goal, and you push, you push, you push, you're
not able to get another goal.It ends three to one, and the
Sounders run in the US Open Cupends by a score of three one.

(11:00):
I'll tell you that Delta Airlines isproud to donate one soccer ball for every
mile ran by Sounder ZIPC players thisseason, the Ray Foundations one mile one
ball program and Andrew, you know, in the Open Cup overall, right
now, we've seen these last sixyears, Um, for five straight it
was no wins. This year, you pick up the win against San Diego.
You have a competitive match, youknow, for most of this game

(11:22):
down in Los Angeles. I'd liketo say that the woes of the Open
Cup are now over. I'd liketo to say, you know, for
for so many years we looked atwe looked at US Open Cups as the
bugaboo is the trouble, and wecan you can say, you know,
you know the investment and how muchyou put into it as a whole separate
thing. But whether it was acurse or not, I'm going into twenty
and twenty four saying you no longerhave have the monkey on the back of

(11:46):
we got to get an Open Cupwin that's now gone. You know,
I understand the monkey on the backsensation. I think it's exacerbated by the
fact that the twenty twenty and twentytwenty one Cups were canceled right sore there.
It's just a blank spot. Andso as a result, that stretch
feels worse than than it really was. Because it's true, prior to this,
the last time, well including thisone, the last time the Sounders
went further than two matches, theyplayed a third in the Open Cup because

(12:09):
they keep changing the format. Yeah, it was twenty sixteen, and all
they've done in that span is winto two MLS Cups, finish his runners
up in two, more one, four Western Conference championships in one concption.
It's it's just it's one of thoseones where, right again, the Sounders
hate to lose at anything, andastonishingly they've they've managed to pretty much succeeded

(12:30):
winning just about everything they've set theirminds to in the span that they've been
in Major League Soccer. It's justone of those ones where on the night
when you get knocked out of theCup, that's the only thing on your
mind. It's what twists you,and honestly, I think it's what makes
this team as great as it is. I mean, if you're if you're
looking at yet Keily, go ahead, No, dude, we just need
to have Andrew on more often becausehe's mister positivity. And as as your

(12:52):
Sounders representative over here, I'm notupset about it at all. I mean,
like, just keep the compliments going, keep the content, can,
keep the context going. That's great. Context loved it, loved it.
So you know, Well, withthat said, let's look ahead because the
Sounders have to jump right back intoMLS actions. So it's going to be
Houston on Saturday. Let's take abreak. Let's talk about not only what's

(13:15):
up next for the Sounders, butwhat's up next for a lot of the
players who played in this match, and what's up next for Wade Webber's squad
with the Coma Defiance. They're havinga good season so far in MLX,
MLS Next Pro if I can saythat correctly, and so we'll talk about
what's coming up for them. There'sa lot to get to. Unfortunately,
as we mentioned, the US OpenCup run here in twenty and twenty three

(13:35):
has ended with a three one losshere in the round of thirty two to
the LA Galaxy on the road inCarson, California. But there's a lot
to look forward to. We'll continuewith that on the postgame show coming up

(16:56):
Welcome back to the postmatch show JacksonFelts alongside Andrew Harvey and Keiley Dunning
breaking down what was unfortunately the endof the US Open Cup run for your
Seattle Sounders tonight in twenty twenty three, a three to one loss down in
Carson, California against the La Galaxy. But listen, we gotta take a
look ahead to what's next, becauseyou know the every day the sun will

(17:17):
rise, and for the Sounders, the sun will rise in Carson, California,
and it will set in Houston,Texas, because that is where they
are headed tomorrow for a match comingup on Saturday. Really quickly broadcast details
on that the Sounders will be playingin Houston against the Dynamo this Saturday.
You can listen to that match onthis station here. It's gonna be a

(17:37):
five o'clock pre match show, theProvidence Swedish Prematch Show five thirty kickoff from
Shell Energy Stadium in Houston. Youcan also watch the match via MLS Season
Pass on the Apple TV app listenin Spanish language on Lay thirteen sixty.
So that's coming up. We'll talkabout that in just a moment really quickly,
Andrews, let's run through some otherOpen Cup games here this week,

(18:00):
because I know one of them involvedwas the Houston Dynamo. Yeah, happy
to Jackson. Bad news if youlike cup sets tonight, I don't have
any on offer for you. Seriously, we need to bring Andrew on more
often. That was the best punever. Thank you very much. There,
FC Cincinnati, you walk off onenil winners at home against New York
City. FC Columbus Crew on theroad against Loudon United, but they win
five one. Not a big surprisethere some USL Championship on USL Championship crime.

(18:23):
Birmingham Legion take down Memphis nine toone, FC three nil at home.
Nashville sc two nil winners over DallasAustin two nil winners over New Mexico
United, also from the second division. RSL win on the road for three
over the Portland Timbers down to ProvidencePark. Interestingly, about that seven goal
match, Jackson, no goal scoredafter the hour mark, just a scoreless

(18:45):
final seven before It's just a scorelessjust a scoreless final thirty minutes. Thank
you. RSL did get real crowdedfrom the fiftieth to the sixties. We
had we had three goals in thatten minute span. And then finally Houston
Dynamo one nil winner against Sporting Caseyat home. So Houston is coming off
a win. They didn't really playa lot of their starters in that one
nothing win against Kansas City, sothey're gonna be fresh for Saturday's match.

(19:08):
And listen, this is a Houstonteam. I feel like we were just
talking off the air. Keiley, you can jump into the fact that you
know, before a couple of yearsago, the Sounders have always made this
road trip to Houston in the monthsof like July, August, September,
when it was muggy and hundred degreesand just terrible playing conditions. They're making

(19:30):
this trip in the month of May, which is far better, but still
I mean, Houston Dynamo right nowundefeated at home, and whenever you're playing
a team who is undefeated at homein the Sounders were you know, just
going back to last Sunday, it'sgonna be a tough test. Yeah,
absolutely, And right there's a therewas a weird, weird stat for the
first five or six years where theSounders were an MLS where they I think

(19:52):
failed to take a point from alltheir trips to Texas or they could never
get a win. I can't quiteremember it was Steven had that stat,
had that stat back when it wasjust Houston and Dallas. But it's a
really really difficult place to play. And right you say, well, they're
going in the month more reasonable monthof May, reasonable by tech and standards
checks, and so it could stillbe quite unpleasant down there. Yeah.
EPC Dallas is my second least favoriteroad trip to Houston. Least favorite.

(20:18):
It's a giant parking lot, thatis what that city is. It's a
giant concrete parking lot. So I'mvery happy that we will be producing radio
from iHeart Studios. All I canthink of right now is is how I
can make a joke off of parkingthe bus with that parking lot comment.
But I have I'm coming up witha workshop. Get back to the writer's
room, so so listen to sounders. That will be a tough match,

(20:41):
and ultimately, I think one ofthe good things that you saw from this
game was the fact that Nicholas Ledarilhe does come off the bench and he
does play, you know, fifteenor so minutes. Joel Poulos, same
sort of case. He does playanother fifteen or so minutes. So for
Nico, you get a little bitof a run in. Doesn't look like
he takes a knock or anything. He'll be good to go. Joel Paulo,

(21:03):
you know, Joel Polo didn't playSunday against Sporting Kansas City. So
the fact that he does get afew minutes on his legs tell us you
he's now amped up, ready togo. So when you look at the
team that Brian Spenser should be ableto throw out there, this weekend,
should bention Leo Chew unavailable. He'sstaying in Seattle for the birth of his
son. So no Leo Chew. But when you build the rest of this

(21:25):
lineup, and I kind of talkthrough this, and there's no insight information,
no insight here, you're looking ata very very good team. You'd
think a Bear starts at the fourthposition, Jordan Morris on the left,
Nico in the center, and probablyAlbert russnack off to the right, Joel
Paulo holding next to a There's aninteresting question there because Josh Atencio played long

(21:47):
tonight, but I think you havea lot of good depth at that position.
You have a question market left backwith knew who and his situation with
his in large spleen reed Baker whywent long today? So the question market
left is interesting, or right backconsidering Alex rolled on, but it's Yamar
and Jackson Reagan with frying goal.I mean, there are is a couple

(22:08):
of question marks there, but ultimatelythe Sounders are gonna be able to throw
out a ridiculously talented team against Houstonthis Saturday, right and you know,
equally important a fresh team Jackson thatthat's going on on fresh list because this
Houston side in all competitions is unbeatenin their last six matches I believe,
stretching back to the beginning of April. So you know, they're in a
good run of form. They havethe advantage of playing at home and in

(22:32):
slightly less hospitable conditions, I guessmight be the right way of framing that
one. And so you know, right to get such a performance out of
the young guys tonight, even thoughthe result wasn't you wasn't what you wanted,
it does allow them to kind ofstay fresh going into the weekend because
again, right, busy week comingup the week after as well. That's
so correct, because they go toor they play Austin excuse me, Wednesday

(22:55):
of next week, so it willbe a very busy next you know,
ten days for the Sounders, lotsand lots of games to worry about.
So we'll see how Brian Spencer doesthrow his starting formation coming up Saturday.
And then you know, for alot of guys who played in this match
as well and came off the benchstarted, guys like Paul rothrock U who's
and I know Wade Weber is certainlywatching was watching this match to see how

(23:19):
much time and Paul Rothrock gets hisgoal and how much time a lot of
his players play. Tacoma Defiance, you know, has has stuff coming up
as well that Wade's going to haveto think about how long guys went,
what their status is, and howhe can use certain players who played in
this match coming up for the Defiancematch. Yeah, less crowded for the

(23:40):
Defiance just two over the next twoweeks for them. They they'll go this
weekend at home against Minnesota United FCtwo. That match will be at Starfire
and air on MLS next to prodot Com. That's the fourteenth at eight
pm. And then they'll be onthe road at Vancouver Whitecaps two on the
twenty first. Both those teams doingpretty well right now in the Western Conference
standings, but are lower than TacomaDefiance. And again, right, it's
one of those ones where you bringa guy back to MLS next Pro you

(24:02):
can point out right, show himgame film of him playing against Chicharito and
Pooge and go, look, youcan do it up there. We know
you can do it down here.Let's just keep developing you and getting you
to where we know we can startto reliably put you on the bench for
the first team if you play yourway to that contract. That's absolutely right.
And a guy like roth Rock wementioned in the first segment that he's
playing with such confidence right now.Two senior team games and two goals,

(24:22):
So now you'd imagine that he witha few other guys fly back Cody Baker,
by the way, and Cody Bakerstarts at left back. He started,
of course against San Diego. Hewas on the short term agreement for
the Sounders against Sporting Kansas City onSunday. Cody Baker looks like a great
left back, just a rock backthere who plays so simple and just always

(24:44):
seems to make the right pass.I think Brad Evans mentioned that as well.
Cody Baker seems like a guy thatcould definitely earn himself into a first
team contract just by how it issimple and rock solid he plays consistently.
It's just so funny for me becauseI think I started calling Cody's games when
he was fifteen, when he whenhe started making appearances for Defiance, you
know, when he was still anaccademy player down in the USL Championship,
And so now you know here Iam all these leaders and I'm just gonna

(25:07):
be like, oh man, that'ssuch an old man. And there's the
nineteen year old left back. Butright, this is this is what the
whole pipeline program has always been about, as can you get these guys to
a place where they're playing professional soccerwhen they are fifteen, sixteen, seventeen,
because by the time they are eighteen, nineteen twenty, you have a
much better idea of what kind ofplayer they might be able to grow into.
And the value of playing professional ballis immense. It absolutely is.

California against the LA Galaxy, Soundersbowing out of that tournament, where
they look forward here coming up toHouston on Saturday once again, Providence,
Swedish pre much show five o'clock kickofffive thirty. Right here Sports Radio nine

(29:41):
fifty KGr am for the Sounders inHouston, Dynamo. But you know we

you know Sounders weekly each and everyweek seven to eight pm, whether
it's on Tuesdays or Wednesdays or whateverday. I'm told the do the show.

(30:02):
At the end of every show wedo two things. We go around
the league with Ari Louinelma Soccer dotCom. And then we go around the
sound with Puget sound soccer expert AndrewHarvey, who's right here. And Andrew
and Lou of doing a show thisweek. You know we talked some to
COVID Defiance previously. Before I askyou about oh Rain, I'll quickly tell
everybody that the doubleheader coming up onJune third Sounders and ol Rain. Sounders

(30:23):
are playing the Portland Timbers at EmeraldQueen Casino Pitch at louman Field that won
thirty On June third, ol Rainthen host the Portland Thorns, So it's
a Seattle versus Portland battle. Rainversus Thorns in the NWSL happens at five
o'clock there at louman Field. Additionaltickets have just been made available for this
marquee matchup given that high demand,So secure your seas today by visiting Sounders

(30:47):
FC dot com slash tickets. ButAndrew, before we get to June third,
what's going on with ol Rain rightnow? Well, Jackson, they're
top of both their respective tables atthe moment. They are at the top
of their NWSL Challenge Cup group stage. They play Angel City to a scoreless
nil nil draw, but an earlierwin over Angel City has them out in
front. That competition doesn't really getplayed on a consistent schedule, so more

(31:07):
updates on that to come. They'realso top of the league table as they're
currently on pace for their fourth NWSLshield in Italy. It's still early phases
of the season, but they're thereby virtue of a two nil win over
the Houston Dash last weekend and thatallowed them to vault Portland. They've taken
thirteen points from their last five matches. Oh that's yeah, it's not bad.

(31:29):
That'll four and one in five matches. I'll take that literally every day
of the week. That's fantastic.Um, yeah, four shields me and
my goodness. If if they're ableto three so far so if if they're
able to get that fourth, Imean, my goodness, and congratulate.
I mean obviously they got it lastyear. I believe this. The two
nothing win was there one hundredth winin NWSL regular season history too, So

(31:52):
um heck of a job ol Raynerright now doing Hopefully they can keep it
up in the NWSL. Now.You're also they play by play voice oh
our local squad Ballard FC and bythe way, I see you wearing their
new kid, which is just unbelievable. That's a clean of as clean of
a fit as I've ever seen.I mean, for those who don't know,
there is a USL two side,Ballard Ballard FC, who plays right

(32:13):
out of Inner Bay Stadium, rightup the road here and first season ones
last year went to the Western ConferenceChampionship in their first ever year. But
Andrew, we're about to start yeartwo, aren't we. Yeah, just
around the corner, Jackson. Theyhave a friendly at home against the Vancouver
Whitecaps U nineteen's next Thursday. Veryinterestingly chose to have that the day after

(32:34):
sitting, to my uh but butyou know, thankful it won't be a
problem for the players, might befor some of the fans. I'll be
taking the seventeenth off of sitting tobuy celebrations. Nobody wants to see what
that looks like. And then theyare on the road at Olietown FC,
the other Washington USL two club rightnow to start the season on the twenty
first couple home games coming up.You can find the whole schedule on go

(32:57):
ballotfc dot com. A lot ofmatches sold out already for seated tickets,
but there's a great standing room onlysection. They actually just announced that the
beer Garden is actually expanding in sizeand also will be all ages for people
under twenty one who have someone overtwenty one accompanying them, And of course
the proceeds in that in the beerGarden go to benefit the Ballot FC Foundation,
which they are using to raise moneyfor teams like Cultures United and to

(33:21):
help make a high level soccer educationand training affordable to kids who might not
be able to play you know, expensive club ball. That's one of the
things with BOUTFC that struck me ishow community, community oriented that club is
and they do so much and thework that the entire organization and obviously Lamar
and Nego is a part owner two, you know, to connect it with
the Sounders, but but the entireorganization and to connect with you as well,

(33:45):
very much all efforts. Yes,it's to make a great on field
product when games go get a cup, but at the same time it's to
better the community and to be reallykind of just embed themselves within the Ballot
our Inner Bay community. And Iknow you're very involved in that as well.
Yeah, yeah, well, andyou know, I think right from

(34:05):
a club perspective, it's something thattends to be in the DNA of all
the clubs out here, you know, the Sounders. It's in their mission
statement, I think, and I'mtrying to make sure I have it close
to right, but it's to usesoccer as a vehicle for good or something
along those lines. And in thinkingabout, you know, what I might
be able to do to contribute tothat, I actually did some reflecting off

(34:25):
this offseason. Met up with acouple of folks at the Ballard Food Bank,
which is an organization that they're veryclosely connected with at Ballot FC,
and I'm pleased to announce I partneredwith the Bridgekeepers, who are the best
supporters group in USL League too, barn On, and we are doing what
we're calling our Community Goals Campaign forBallot FC. So for every goal Ballot
FC scores this year in friendlies andleague play, in the playoffs and everything,

(34:49):
I'm making the twenty dollars donation tothe Ballard Food Bank and I've put
a link up you can find thaton my social media my Twitter and Instagram
are at soccer vox vox and basicallypeople can go and and pledge whatever they
like, even if it's just adollar a goal, just to try to
one give me an even better reasonto be losing my mind when Ballard score
a goal. Oh my god, they score that's amazing and we're raising money

(35:12):
for a great cause. But theFood Bank does really amazing work. I
could be here till eleven pm talkingabout it, but I won't do that
that. The biggest things to meare are they are right? Their metrics
show that they're helping seven thousand peoplea month in our community. It feels
crazy to say it, but potentiallyup to one in five people in Seattle
or experiencing food insecurity, and thatjust doesn't seem like a problem that people

(35:37):
need to deal with. But beyondthat, they also use their center there
as a hub for other services tocome and reach at risk populations, so
that someone doesn't have to try tobe taking the bus all over. You
can just go to the Food Bank, get what you need, and also
get connected with the service that youneed to help me out. So there
are a great organization. Whether youget involved with community goals or not,

(35:58):
I urge you to look them up, think about donating, volunteering some of
your time. Um, they're afantastic outfit, and I am deeply honored
to even be mentioned in the samesentences that so cool, dude, thank
you for thank you for doing that. So that's first. Secondly, Um,
Jason Farrell is he? Is he? Where you're doing this? Because
because I think at that point yougo into the locker room, you say
the and all these players you knowfrom colleges locally and around that right there

(36:22):
is the motiving guys score goals tonight, make Andrew Harvey spend two hundred dollars
to have about food bank. SoI will say when I was first talking
about this, one of the firstbe all I talked to was Jason.
I mentioned that twenty dollars figure, and he pulled me aside and goes,
listen, listen. We had agreat year last year. We think our
squad this year is even better. You might want to rethink that number,

(36:43):
but I don't want to go tendollars. I'm sticking to my guns,
and I know it's all going towork out in the aggregate. Yeah,
because you know about FFC scores, they scored quite a lot of goals last
year. I've heard a score morethis year. You have the check book
out now. But that means,in all seriousness, that's that's it's amazing
what you're doing. So well doneman. Thank you very much, Jackson,
I appreciate it. Um, that'soutstanding. Worked to be on the

(37:04):
lookout, I mean next week forSounders Weekly, well, we'll continue talking
about that and we'll talk more BallardFC. I'll probably have Jason on the
show at some point soon. Tolook ahead at the twenty and twenty three
seasons, is Ballard tries to getright back and go even further than the
West Final last year. Last thinghere on the postgame show, and that's
going to be something that I'm involvedwith. It's it's it's not doing as
for good, Keiley. Is therea way we can we can make that

(37:25):
for good? I mean that that'sa heck of a thing to follow here.
But no, we got the sideby side podcast coming up with with
Brad Evans tomorrow, Yes we doso. Steve Zakhani is out of town
this week, so we'll have JacksonFelt's filling some very very large shoes on
the podcast tomorrow, published probably laterin the afternoon. Check it out anywhere
you got your podcasts Andrew. Everythingyou're doing is so cool and I really

(37:45):
seriously need that jersey. Do theyhave it in an extra small well children's
science We'll talk that will be thatwill be great and then so check out
that side by side podcast tomorrow.I've decided that I'm not even gonna put
on the shoes. There's no waythat I can even fit in those shoes,
so I'm just gonna leave my sockson and uh and yeah, no
no English accent, none of thatstuff. Probably. I actually did try

(38:09):
and do that once with the episodewith Andy Rose. I was like,
can I do a pen he Hewas just like, no, you can
you Steve and Andy, Oh gosh, uh yeah, not gonna go anywhere
near that, is Andrew, Isee pulling up the jersey. By the
way, they're all vill ones,Simply Seattle, Simply Seattle's ballad FC collection
is right there. Um, andthey are the coolest jerseys you will find

(38:32):
outside of the Seattle centers, ofcourse. But yeah, very very cool
job that ballad FC is doing withall their jerseys. But once again the
rap of the broadcast, there soundersfalling in the US Open Cup. They're
eliminated from the two thousand and threetwenty twenty three tournament by a score of
three to one to the La Galaxy. Tonight match coming up on Wednesday,
you'll be able to hear it righthere on this station, Sports Radio nine

(38:53):
fifty KGr AM five pm pre matchfive thirty kickoff. Sounders are at Houston.
