Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Sounders FC pre mat Show presented by
Provident Swedish. Tonight, from the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at
lumen Field, your Seattle Sounders FC faced the Portland Timbers.
Today's match is presented by Emerald Queen Casinos, the entertainment
capital of the Northwest Ghost Sounders. The Provident Swedish pre

(00:22):
Mat Show starts now.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Well, we're finally here Decision Day and the match we've
honestly been looking forward to as soon as the schedule
came out. It's Sounders Timbers here in Seattle for the
first time in twenty twenty four, and it's on this
final day of the regular season, and the stakes honestly
are at the level we couldn't even.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Imagine the time that schedule came out.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Cascadia Cup on the line today it's the one hundred
and twenty second all time meeting between Seattle and Portland
and soccer and tonight the winner takes home the Cascadia Cup.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Meanwhile, Tye would also send it down to Portland. But
that's not all. Sounders playing to decide a spot in
CONCACAFF Champions Cup. A win will get them a spot
in next year's CONCACAFF Champions Cup. And oh, by the way,
we are still looking at seeding. Sounders fighting for the
either the third or fourth seed in the West, Timbers
playing for the eight or the nine seed, which could

(01:21):
been going on the road or hosting that play in
game on Wednesday, Brad, Michelle Jackson Felts here for the
pre match show. We'll have Diego audio on the phone
from Chicago in a few minutes. The stakes of this game, Brad,
could not be higher. They're massive on this final day
of the regular season. There's gotta be a lot of
juice flown through those guys right now.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Yeah, I think this is a massive one. And like
you said, when you first see the schedule, these are
the matchups that you look for. And what I like
about it is oftentimes you kind of limp into the
playoffs because you might play an out a conference team
on the last game of the season. It might it
might be someone else, right, but this is decision day
against your rival. This is already a playoff game, and
that's a matter of fact. And the Sounders haven't won

(02:01):
here against Portland since twenty seventeen. That was the last
time that I beat Portland and played against Portland. Actually
was here in May of twenty seventeen, and so that's
a long time ago.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
But I think that is a long time good mojo
that you are here on the broadcast tonight bringing that
energy right in here.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Let's hope. So someone did park in my parking spot tonight,
and every time I parked there, we won the game,
So I gotta have words. I told Gens saved that
parking spot for them, and he didn't do it tonight.
But regardless, this is a massive matchup and the Sounders
are able to have that playoff atmosphere as they enter
as hopefully the third seed, potentially the fourth seed.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Well, Michelle, I think we just found out. If the
Sounders lose today, we're clearly blaming whoever that person is.
We're king their car or puncturing.

Speaker 6 (02:41):
The Times wrote that I've already wrote the nasty note
that is going under the windshields you're going to be
leaving there.

Speaker 7 (02:48):
But I think Brad made beautiful points.

Speaker 6 (02:50):
And the one other thing I want to add to
it is that the Sounders haven't played, imagine two weeks.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
They are so hungry to get back out here to
play in a competitive atmosphere that isn't just ans themselves
that I think that just even adds to the fun
that dishes day always.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Is well welcome in, I should say to the Center's
FC pre match show, this is presented by Providence to
me just the official healthcare partner.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Of Centers FC.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Also, today's match is probably presented by Emerald Queen Casino. Sorry,
I see BlackBerry Smoke live in the EQC Event Center
this coming Thursday on October twenty fourth, at the Emerald
Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. And we're
gonna have longer, a little bit longer pre match show
kickoff coming up at six fifteen tonight here from lumen

(03:34):
Field where some of the three hundred level is open.
There's already probably just under one thousand Timbers fans tucked
away into the northeast corner of lumen Field, way up
there in the three hundred level.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
And they've been making lots of chance.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
You may hear that throughout the pre mat show and
we'll see what kind of words that they use. But
that will happen to assume throughout the entire night, as
they're gonna be making a lot of noise here in
this Darby Sounders Timbers number one hundred and twenty two.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
You know you mentioned Michelle.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
This team hasn't played for two weeks, and it was
that week a couple weeks ago where the Sounders had
three games in eight days. Brad, it was three shutout wins.
Those kind of really really riding high off of that,
But it has been a brat a little bit of
a break and you kind of got to rise back
up to that good vibes that was going on in
those eight days.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Yeah, but everyone in this league has had a break
except for Vancouver and LAFC that played this last weekend.
So everyone's on the same page. It's not like you're
playing against the team that's coming off of a fresh
victory last weekend, and in that rhythm, every team has
been on the same rhythm entering decision days. So there's
no excuse for the Sounders. But that's a heavy load,
right to pull off three shutout wins nine points in

(04:44):
a week. If you would have asked us that before
the week, I think we all would have said, okay,
we'll take two wins out of that, but to pick
up three and to put the work in they deserve
this extra break and it's the same exact lineup you've
seen throughout all of two weeks ago, and so this
there's no excuse for this group not to come in
here and get the result we got. Slim shady Albert
Russknack now with his guys are obviously feeling themselves entering

(05:06):
the playoffs and it's just going to be an exciting one.
And like we said, there's no excuse. Yes it's a break, Michelle,
but sometimes it's good for these guys to get a
little bit break because this playoff schedule is going to
be crazy with the three game series.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
Well, and you know who didn't get a break, and
in a good sense is Obad Vargas. He just got
his first cap with the senior Mexican national team, a
dream come true for him. And we've seen it time
and time again that when these players go away to
national team camp or get experience with their national teams,
they come back with a little bit of extra juice,
a little bit of extra confidence. I mean you understand

(05:38):
what you remember those days, Brad. I mean it adds
something to you of getting that experience at such a
high level, of you.

Speaker 7 (05:44):
Wanting to continue with that I can imagine.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
Here when you're back with the club, but also to
continue that high of performance, to continue getting those national
team looks.

Speaker 8 (05:52):
Well.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
You know, I see both sides of that, because sometimes
you go away to a national team camp and your
head gets a little bit big, the level is higher,
so you come back with expectation that everyone is it
like playing on a national team, and that's just sometimes
not the case, and so you have to temper your expectations.
When you're a player like Obed, as a young player
getting his first dip in with the full national team,
he just has to play his game. He can't. The

(06:14):
way that Mexico plays is very different than the way
that the Sounders play. The movements of the players, the
understanding they all seem to always be on the same page,
and they have a specific style. Now he's got to
come back into the Sounders. That's the test of a
real veteran player is to be able to go to
your national team, perform in a different system, and then
come to your club team and be that leader and
really perform with your club team as well, because, as

(06:37):
we all know, you play well for your club, you
get called in with your national team, and for him
to step on the pitch the other night was fantastic.
I know it's something that he's dreamed about, his grandfather,
his dad, everyone, his brother and his family. He's playing
for his family with the national team, but he's played
for the Sounders to get to that point. So I
expect him to come in and he's had enough games
under his belt that he should know that. Yes, it's

(06:57):
a different level, but I've got to put in the
work here for my team if I ever want to
get called back.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Kids exactly right, and Obed slides back into the exact
spot as he said he has been in for so
much of this last stretch with Jul Paula out Duel Paulo.
By the way, he is off the injury reports. He
is on the bench night for Brian Schmitzer. Quickly on
that Providence Swedish team health reports, Cody Baker, Josh Attencio,
They're the two names on it. They're both out tonight

(07:22):
due to head injuries. Nobody else listed Raul healthy, JP healthy.
They are available for Brian and then once again this
help update presented by Providence Swedish, the official healthcare partner
of Sounders FC. We mentioned this lineup here really quickly.
You're Delta starting loving for the Sounders. It has Stephen
Fryan Gole you knew who? And Alex Roldan are those
right and left backs Jackson Reagan, Yemar Gomez Andrade the

(07:43):
center backs. As we mentioned, Obed Vargas in that familiar
position next to Christian Rolldon.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
In the holding midfield.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
You have Peter dale Vega on a wing, Paul Rothrock
on a wing, and you have Albert Rusnak between them
with Jordan Morris up.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Top and Brad. You gotta love the consistency.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
And I mean we talked about Obed, let's go to
the other guy in that pairing, Christian rolled On. A
lot of the discussion has been since JP went out.
Are we seeing Christian in his best position right now?

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Yeah? This will be good. I think this will be
the lineup going through the playoffs. This is a team
that was the hottest team since the middle part of
the season, picking up the most ports, more than Miami did,
and he has been a lynchpin in that since JP
left this group and to pick up nine points in
a week, I don't think you want to mix things
up and Christian's really playing lights out right now and

(08:28):
is this his position moving forward? I think so. And
JP's done his service, He's battled through injuries, but I
think at this time to have Obed and Christian in there,
it's athletic, it's physical, and it's really really smart to
soccer IQ and you lose a little bit of speed
and power with JB. We saw it before he got injured.
He just looked a little bit slow in a number

(08:49):
of kids in that game against Minnesota. I think we
all saw it. And he got supped out a little
bit towards the end of that game, maybe just nearing
the end. And so for him, I think it's about
that veteran presence of him being on the bench and
if he has to step in, you step in. But
for right now, it's Christian and Obed and it's their
position to lose Michelle, And what a weapon to then
have in JP.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
If you're leading a match one nothing in whether it's tonight,
whether it's playoffs, if you're leading a match one nothing
in the seventieth minute and you have JP to be
able to bring off at one hundred percent, that's a
hell of a weapon for Brian Schmitzer.

Speaker 6 (09:19):
It's incredible, and especially we've seen it, you know, all
season long. Schmetzer's not been scared to make it known
that if someone is not playing to the.

Speaker 7 (09:26):
Level he expects to see, you're gone. You're gonna be pulled.
You've got the next guy ready to go on the bench.
And so adding just even.

Speaker 6 (09:34):
More depth with the return of him being becoming healthy again.
I just you couldn't have it at a better time
as we close out the regular season here today and
gear up for the postseason and hopefully a really successful
run over the next month and a half.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Yeah, nobody gets hurt tonight and we can get JP
or sorry Josh Tensio and Cody Baker back. This team
could be one hundred percent healthy in the playoffs. And
I mean, you look at the track record when the
Sounders are healthy in the playoffs, they do lots of
damn image. That could be once again the case here.
As we enter the playoffs, Sounders will be the three
or the four seed, depending on results tonight.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
The Timbers will.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Be the eight or the nine seed. There is a
Cascadia Cup on the line. Winner gets it, ty sends
it to Portland and then a CONCACAFT Champions Cup spot
on the line. Sounders are into that next year with
a win tonight. There are so many stakes here on
decision Day, it's gonna be crazy. The three hundred level
is filling up. It's full of Portland fans. We got
an epic match tonight, Sounders Timbers number one hundred and

(10:30):
twenty two. We are just about thirty minutes away from
kick here at Emerald Pin Casino Pitch at Lumenfield. Today's
Condon Nikikoff is presented by Emerald Pin Casino, the entertainment
capital of the Northwest. We'll take a break, we'll come
back and talk about those disgusting Timbers from Portland that
comes up next year. In the pre match show, Sports

that lumin is Jackson Feltz Brad Evans and Michelle Ludka
out in Chicago. He just called the decision day match
between Chicago and Nashville. Were joined by our good friend
Diego Aureo A Diego. How's it going out there in Chicago?

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Man?

Speaker 20 (14:35):
Hey, hey Jackson, how are you guys? Brad good? Sheelle
great to hear from you. Yeah.

Speaker 21 (14:40):
He was always the note a decision day game for
neither Naturville or Chicago.

Speaker 20 (14:45):
Risk good game, beautiful weather here.

Speaker 21 (14:47):
I hear that there's rainy, but always as such an
important match to play at Lumen against the Timbers it is.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Let's let's dig into these Timbers, everybody. Brad, I'll start
with you. Uh, this is a Portland Timbers. We're seeing
all of all the top stars, and this is a
team we mentioned it. They're gonna be the eight of
the nine seed in the Western Conference. They're gonna play
in the playing game on Wednesday. It'll either be at
home against Vancouver in a wild situation, or it will
be on the road against Minnesota. But we know that

(15:17):
they're gonna be in that game. They're starting all their
top players at Vanda, Jonathan Rodriguez, Anthony, Felipe Mora, but Brad,
the thing that stands out to me is they're starting
this kid, Finn Sermon at center back and.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
He's from New Zealand.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
He's young, and it's his first ever game for the
Timbers and he's starting in this specific game. That's a
lot of pressure to put on somebody in their first
ever appearance. See.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Yeah, it is a lot of pressure and it's one
I'm not sure I agree with the coaching decision, but
you know, at some point you got to give the
keys to the car to someone in that back line,
and that's the card that they've they've been dealt, and
you know it's gonna ask a lot of this young kid.
He's six to three, is a big kid and he's
got expeir's playing in the Australian A League. He's played
a couple times from New Zealand's national team. He's a

(16:04):
big body and I think that's why that if the
Sounders do go direct, he's there to clean up everything
and challenge for every single ball and try to make
Jordan's life miserable. I don't think Jordan enjoys the aerial
duels and aerial battles, but when that ball is on
the ground. I'm not sure that he's faced anyone like
Jordan with his speed and power. So that to me
tells me. That tells me that Chara's job is gonna

(16:25):
He has to have a massive game tonight. Char has
always been the lynchpin for them, who sits in front
of the two center backs and cleans everything up. I
think he'll sit back just a little bit more, at
least the first twenty twenty five minutes of this game,
and allow you know, this fin sermon to get into
the game. But once Jordan puts one or two past
him by speed, he's gonna have to drop off. And
that's where things open up for the Sounders. That's a

(16:47):
tough task to ask. A first game in at Darby
away from home. That's a nightmare situation that I wouldn't
want to be put in as a player. I'd say, hey, coach,
could you give me a heads up? Maybe give me
a game or two like before this, the previous thirty
three games of the season, give me a chance.

Speaker 6 (17:02):
But playing Devil's advocate to that, I mean, how exciting
to have the opportunity and then feeding off the crowd.
All We've heard it for years about how other teams
enjoy coming into loom And Field because they like the
energy that the Sounders Frans bring and they like playing here.

Speaker 7 (17:20):
It's a big stadium, it'll be under the lights.

Speaker 6 (17:23):
Yes, I agree with everything Brad says, and I hope
he is one thousand percent accurate tonight. And I hope
this match is way too big for this guy in
his first match.

Speaker 7 (17:30):
I'm sorry if you're listening or hear this later in life,
but I really hope that, of course to.

Speaker 6 (17:34):
Be in our favor for the Sounders, but for that
kid getting this opportunity on this kind of a stage,
I mean, it.

Speaker 7 (17:41):
Will be really interesting to see if he actually steps
up to the moment.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Listen.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
I'm hoping every single Portland player trips over themselves and
falls on their butts tonight and makes a complete embarrassment
to the hundreds of traveling for Proland Hans. I hope
that for every single Timbers player out here, diego, this
is a Timbers team. I know you've called games a
few of the Timbers this year, and you know one
thing that stands out when you look at least just
the numbers and how they play is for so much

(18:04):
of the year it's been kind of you know, other
than the last three games where it's been.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Like kind of one goal games.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
This is a running gun team, you know, sixty five
goal sixty four goals scored this year, second in the West,
fifty five goals allowed, just a huge number. This is
a team that scores a lot but gives up a
lot And they obviously have talented offensive players, but the
defenses we just talked about inexperienced and has big holes.

Speaker 20 (18:30):
Yeah. No, so definitely the Timbers.

Speaker 21 (18:33):
I mean, as you say, Jack, and they score a lot,
but also they allowed a lot of goals. Also, one
of the things that the changes that I wanted to
mention is that mccinskriple is not the goalkeeper for an
in game and its.

Speaker 20 (18:43):
PANTOMI is right.

Speaker 21 (18:44):
That's also a big change considering that mc tinkriple has
been always starting goalkeeper for the Timbers. But I know,
just talking to film Neville over the past few weeks
and I've been covering Timbers the most, it's you know,
it was already a fee of their Easther princes were
not eight with the Timbers, so maybe.

Speaker 20 (19:01):
That's the decision.

Speaker 21 (19:02):
But also I think for Timbers it's just really relying
in the.

Speaker 20 (19:06):
Three guys they have on top right.

Speaker 21 (19:08):
Producing you know, more than you know fifteen goals like Evander,
you have a Mora and then you have Jonathan Rodriguez.
The other change too is like this time Anthony is
playing on the left and usually Rodriguez is more comfortable
in that left right, and he's going to play on
the right this time.

Speaker 20 (19:23):
So so defic it's a team that.

Speaker 21 (19:27):
It's a wild West, I would say when they play,
and even Phil Neville knows, like this team just wants
to go forward and score. But sometimes obviously they allowed
in the defense and they they they that for Thunders,
to me, they have to really take advantage, especially being
at home, and especially the momentum to me, has shifted
that Seattle Thunders. Now they're closing the regular season really

(19:48):
solid and they have a really good place now in.

Speaker 20 (19:50):
The six third place. But also the way they're.

Speaker 21 (19:52):
Playing, it's just you see, everything is working. All the
cylinders are around for the Thunders and they're ready for
the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Absolutely, So there's definite weapons on the offensive end for
the Poorland Timbers. Tonight, we'll take a break here in
the Providence. We just PREMATCHO we'll come back and we'll
give all of our keys to this matches. We are
going to continue counting you down to kickoff. Kickoff coming
shortly after six pm. Here, both teams still warming up.
Seats are filling in here at looming field under these
cloudy soon to be rainy skies. Sounders timbers will continue

(20:22):
talking about it and breaking it down. Next on Sports
Radio nine to fifty KJRM.

Speaker 10 (20:28):
Apollo Plumbing.

Speaker 22 (20:29):
I got a bone to pick with you. Say what
You're donating service fees.

Speaker 10 (20:33):

thousand dollars?

Speaker 22 (20:36):
Right, that's my problem.

Speaker 23 (20:38):
Your plumbers cleared my drain last month, right, and already
replaced my water heater last summer.

Speaker 22 (20:44):
Now, I have no reason to call Apollo.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
Plumbing, and yet you are.

Speaker 22 (20:47):
I want to help you help Seattle Children. I don't
need a bummer right now.

Speaker 10 (20:52):
Oh so we can't donate your service fee right? Gotta
fix for that.

Speaker 24 (20:56):
Visit our website because because we have a donation.

Speaker 22 (20:59):

Speaker 24 (21:02):

you do call Apollo for help, uh huh, and we
donate your services fee. Could I donate even more exactly
benefiting Seattle Children's Hospital all this month, all our service
fees all the.

Speaker 25 (21:19):

Welcome back to Luminfield.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
We're feeling the breeze, We're feeling the clouds coming in.
The rain is soon here and what a dramatic big
night we have Decision Day, final day of the regular season.
It's Sounders and Timbers. Winner will take Cascadia a Cup.
A tie will send it to Portland, and if the
Sounders win, they will also earn a comp CAF Champions
Cup spot before next year. So much on the line

(23:55):
tonight in the final game of the right year season
and all time this series, going all the way back
to seventy four, Sounders leading the series fifty seven, forty.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
Seven and seventeen.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
That includes a fifteen to fifteen and nine mark in
MLS play. Now, so far this year we've only seen
Sounders versus Timbers down at Providence Park in Portland. First
in May, the Sounders got a win two to one
win where Roll had the winner in the fiftieth minutes,
and then at the end of August Portland picked up
a one to nothing win. Tonight is the first game

(24:26):
between these teams in Seattle. Where As Brad mentioned, the
last time the Sounders beat the Timbers here was May
of twenty seventeen, Christian Roldon scored in a one to
nothing Sounders win. Let's get on to our keys to
this match here as we are just a little bit
away from Sounders Timbers kicking.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
Off Diego out in Chicago, Diego.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
I know your watch and let me get your keys
first here on Sounders Timbers.

Speaker 21 (24:51):
Yeah, I think that the Sounders that first of all.

Speaker 20 (24:53):
They need to control the meatfield.

Speaker 21 (24:54):
I think we're talking about the offensive power from the Timbers,
but if you take out the ball them then definitely
it's taking you know, that opportunity of creation, especially getting
a close down to a thunder making sure he's not
creating those those plays and those space space.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
To the ball.

Speaker 21 (25:13):
And the second one would be for thunders to just
the say community needs to be of the company on top.
I know I've seen some changes from from from Brian
and especially seeing the Thunders lately, how they play with
that confidence. I want to see more of that and.

Speaker 20 (25:26):
Also putting the goal in the first.

Speaker 21 (25:28):
Twenty twenty five minutes. I want to see them just
you know, with the gas pedal full forward as soon
as the game starts. From the Sounders and the Timbers
at the end of the day, they're the ones have
the treasure right, so they make them feel, especially that
they're at Lumit Fields and also having that control of
the game.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
For minute one, Brad Rishel, here's you use the crowd tonight.
The three hundred section is partly open. This will be
the first time this season that that's happened. You got
to use the crowd tonight at home. This place will
be packed by the time it kicks off. We're honoring
Roger Leveck tonight. You got to use the power of
lovec But you have to negate the counter attack tonight,
and that's the most dangerous piece with Portland is the

(26:06):
four up front ten to fly and so the Sounders
have to be really careful and it's up to Christian
and Obed to slow everything down because Evander's gonna drop
thirty forty yards deep and if he's allowed to turn
and face and go forward, he'll pick out any pass
on the field. Negate Evander. Our wide players have to
have a great game tonight in both Pedro de la
Vega and Paul roth Rock. They got to get the

(26:27):
job done and provide service for Jordan. And then it's
about Jordan in a one on one matchup with Sermon.
If I'm here, I'm looking to back in him every
chance that I get and really turn him around and
combine with Albert Rusnak.

Speaker 7 (26:38):
I'm seconding that. I think Jordan, for he has got
a career high of.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
Thirteen goals this season, yet he only has one goal
against Portland in eighteen career regular season matches against him.
I want to see number two come tonight. And I
think besides that, in getting a goal scored early in
this match, I think at the end of the day,
the Sounders need to.

Speaker 7 (26:58):
Control their emotion.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Yes, feel the energy of the crowd, get excited, get hyped,
feel the importance of this, but don't let the emotion
get the better of them. Keep it controlled and maintain
that fine line because you don't want a silly card
here or a dumbfoul there that leads to something that
could be a game changer.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Absolutely not.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
Diego will let you go safe travels back from Chicago.
We'll see you for a playoff game out here.

Speaker 20 (27:21):
For sure. Thank you guys. You have a good call
on a piece in sucking Seattle.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
See you soon, diego. We'll continue on the providence.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
We just prematch you know, as we are just about
fifteen minutes away from your kick. It's sounders, timbers. We'll
continue counting you down to kickoff right here on sports

Welcome back, to the Providence, Swedish premat show music is playing.
We had the Green and Blue lights rocking here at
Loomin Field. It's a party ahead of Sounders Timbers number
one hundred and twenty two for Cascadia Cup ten. Well,
Roger Levec, you about to be honored? Is be born
in seventy four, legend of the game. How fitting too.

(31:07):
Roger is here about to be honored, And just a
few minutes ago, our old Michelle Ludka I had the
chance to catch.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Up with Rogerlovac.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
First of all, Roger, congratulations on not only your amazing
career with the Sounders, but being recognized here today. And
it's so perfect that it's a decision day and be
against Portland because when we think the Portland Timbers and
the Sounders rivalry, we think of you. How fun is
it that that memory and that moment of your celebration
when you were the tree cut down after the Sounders scored,

(31:36):
that that will live on forever.

Speaker 33 (31:39):
Yeah, I mean, I think any match against the Timbers
is it's heightened awareness, it's heightened excitement, and I mean
the fact that was able to participate in a moment
like that and still continue to participate as as Sounders
and part of the Sounders family is just it's truly amazing.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
It's hard to believe that this is the first time
on decision day that we are facing the Timbers.

Speaker 7 (32:02):
What do you think that does to the extra.

Speaker 6 (32:05):
Intensity that decision day usually always brings.

Speaker 33 (32:09):
I mean, add that decision day on top of a
rivalry both teams. I mean, imagine through the roof and
the excitement in the stadium is going to be it's
going to be great today. So it's yeah, it's a
long time coming. I would say, what is.

Speaker 6 (32:25):
It about this rivalry that makes it just so darn special?

Speaker 3 (32:28):
Gosh?

Speaker 33 (32:29):
I mean, I think it's not only the wins and losses,
but I think in the mutual respect on the field
that translates into just it means a little bit more
when when it's whether it's on the field or in
supporters or or even our city. So it's just, yeah,

(32:50):
it's truly truly unique.

Speaker 6 (32:52):
Okay, we're gonna You're gonna be on the pitch pregame
obviously being recognized. Can we can we expect any fun antics,
you know, dig in at the Timbers fans at all
hyping up the Sounders crowd.

Speaker 33 (33:01):
There might be a goal celebration reenactment in our future.

Speaker 7 (33:06):
Yes, we can only hope.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
Roger is always Thank you so much for your time
and again, congratulations, enjoy today.

Speaker 7 (33:14):
Absolutely nothing but love for Roger Levac.

Speaker 6 (33:16):
And I mean we're minutes away here from this thing
getting going and I cannot wait to see Roger on
the pitch. I hope so badly he does the chop
hood and falls over.

Speaker 7 (33:26):
I think this place would go nuts.

Speaker 6 (33:28):
And it's the exact kind of energy that I think
the starting eleven needs to feed off of.

Speaker 5 (33:33):
Everything just adds to the atmosphere of it.

Speaker 7 (33:35):
I'm like, oh, please have something fun of your sleep.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
Oh that would be amazing to see.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Speaking of the starting eleven, let's transition into our players
to watch today.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
For the Sounders, Brad, who are you looking at?

Speaker 15 (33:43):
To you?

Speaker 3 (33:44):
For Seattle? Albert Russknack. He's been on fire as of late,
and anytime your number ten is playing as well as
he has, I think any team would like to have
him in this league. And he's been able to actually
unlock the opposing defense and we've asked that for the
past four years and he's finally doing it. Yes, it's
a little bit of a change in position. He couldn't
do it as an eight, but now he's in the ten.

(34:04):
He's feeling confident, goals PK's corner kick except pieces. He's
got it all right now, and watching his finishing at
the start of this one, I think he has a
real opportunity to stake his claim in this rivalry.

Speaker 7 (34:17):
For me, I'm going with Paul Rothrock.

Speaker 6 (34:18):
This is his first decision day and his first opportunity
to help the Sounders.

Speaker 7 (34:22):
Bring home a trophy in the Cascadia Cup.

Speaker 6 (34:25):
And he has time and time again this season stepped
up to the moment and has just been fantastic to watch.
And I think this is another one of those matches
where he could make a huge impact, and again just
kind of adds more already of who Paul Rothrock is
with this team.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
I love that I'm gonna go al trolldon.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
As I look at this eleven, I kind of look
at the guys who kind of, over the course of
their career have had the most kind of gumption, you know,
chip able to kind of just get in somebody's face
and with an enormous attitude, and maybe he just lose
a little bit of the nice season.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Just go out a guy.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Alex has that kind of bite to him and in
this kind of an intense match, there will be emotions
and you, obviously, as you mentioned, Michelle, got to keep
the emotions in check. I see Alex o'donald's one of
those guys that can use that bite and really make
a statement, whether it's defending or getting up on the
offensive end. He'll be riding that right side all day
and there will be a moment I think where he

(35:20):
gets into it and I'd love to see that emotion
come out and turn into a kickstarting moment for this
team to go do something special. As we are now
just a few minutes away from kick, it's Sounders Timbers.
It's decision day, so much on the table. We'll reset

Speaker 3 (38:51):
Well, there's nothing to say. I mean, really, it's just
a massive opportunity for these guys and I'm trying to
put myself back in that position. If I got the
opportunity to play against Portland on decision Day, Okay, things
can mean a little bit more. If there was really
something on the line in terms of maybe a first
place or second place right homefield advantage, you're out the playoffs.
Put that to the side. This is a rivalry game,

(39:13):
and look at this crowd. This is about as big
as we've seen it all season, and that just tells
you how much this game means. You want this energy,

Match day in the MLS regular season.

Speaker 14 (43:20):
It's decision Day and there is no better opponent on
this day of all days than our arch rival, the
Portland Timbers.

Speaker 8 (43:29):
With one game to go, there is still much to
play for.

Speaker 14 (43:32):
While both the Sounders and the Timbers have made the playoffs,
the bigger known is who each team will play For Portland,
they have struggled over the past six weeks on a
limping into these final stages of the season. With just
one win in their last six, Portland are sitting in
ninth and the last playoff spot for the Sounders. Their
form coming into the playoffs has been scintillating. Unbeaten in

(43:55):
their last six, the Sounders have kept clean sheets in.

Speaker 8 (43:57):
Each of their five wins in that run.

Speaker 14 (44:00):
They have the best defensive record in MLS and if
the saying holds true, the defense wins championships, then the
Sounders have to be one of the favorites going into November.
The Sounders could finish third or fourth today with our
first round opponent Sill up in the air, and let's
not forget the sound has become Cascadia Cup Champs today
with a win, there is all to play for in

(44:21):
this one hundred and twenty second matchup between these two
great clubs. I'm Danny Jackson alongside former Sounders captain Brad Evans,
and down on the sidelines, Michelle Ludker will join us
through the games, provide her expert opinion and fuse us.
He stands just a couple of steps away from Bryan
Schmitzer as the teams get ready to go.

Speaker 8 (44:42):
The introduction was big.

Speaker 14 (44:45):
The fandom allowed the scarves are in the air.

Speaker 8 (44:49):
The teefer reads you thought you could scare us.

Speaker 14 (44:53):
Well for the Sounders, they've got a chance to put
one over the top.

Speaker 8 (44:57):
Portland Timbers get it, win Caski Cup, get.

Speaker 14 (45:02):
Third and get into copycat Champions Cup.

Speaker 8 (45:05):
As a ball goes along gets us kicking off.

Speaker 14 (45:08):
Sounders in their traditional anniversary kit, green shirts, blue shorts,
white socks. They're attacking the north end, their typical ending
in the first half, the goal to our left, and
then the Portland Timbers and they're all burgundy kit. Tonight
they're gonna be attacking the goal to our right. The
ball goes long from Evander MLS MVP candidate, with his

(45:31):
fifteen goals eighteen assists on the year, becomes a top
goal contributes for Poland in their history, surpasses the Valari.
So the Sound's gonna free kick Bret Evans, It's an
emotional night, a lot going on.

Speaker 8 (45:43):
What the Sounders have to do tonight to get the win.

Speaker 3 (45:45):
Well, I said it in pregame, but the last time
the Sounders beat the Timbers here I was still playing
for the team and it's been a long time and
we're due for a victory. Tonight. So what do they
need to do. They have to use this crowd. They
have to use the moment that is tonight. Playing against
your rival on decision Day has never happened before for
this club, and you can see how much it means
to the fans they open up the three hundred section.

(46:07):
This is not a playoff game, right, Yes, it feels
like a playoff game, but it is not actually a
playoff game. And that's what you want on decision Day.
Heading into what will be a three game series starting
next week, the Sounders have to play a tight game
and come out and put the Timbers under pressure. Like
you said, the past five to six games one win.
There's no excuse for the Sounders to not get a
result here at home for the first time in seven years.

Speaker 14 (46:28):
Well, let's take a look at the delta starting eleven
for your Sounders. No big changes for Brian Schmittz, Stefan
Freuin Gold as you mentioned, the best defensive record in
MLS back for Roldan Yamar Reagan nu who Christian roll
Don retains his place in the middle, of course, alongside
Oberd Vargas got his first minutes as a senior member

(46:49):
of the Mexican national team against the US and the two.

Speaker 8 (46:51):
Zero win this past week, so he'll be brimming in confidence.

Speaker 14 (46:54):
He plays in the middle of the park, Pedro de
la Vega, Paul Rothrock on the outsides, al Rouzneck first
man in Sounded.

Speaker 8 (47:02):
History to get ten goals fifteen assists.

Speaker 14 (47:04):
He's gonna play in the ten and then Jordan Morris
plays his thirty fourth game of the season.

Speaker 8 (47:08):
Played every single game this.

Speaker 14 (47:10):
Year, the first time he's done that since his rookie season.

Speaker 8 (47:12):
Of twenty sixteen.

Speaker 14 (47:14):
He will play up front for Phil Neville and his
Portland Timbers look banged up.

Speaker 8 (47:18):
A couple of changes for them. It's gonna be pantemisin goal.

Speaker 14 (47:22):
Back four, musca A Zuperrich Sermon comes in for his
MLS debut in the middle of the back three four
and then Claudio Bravo on the left hand side. Have
a present Chara alongside Paraders in the middle of the park.

Speaker 8 (47:34):
Anthony Evander Rodriguez and then Philippe Mourra up front to
Paul and have the ball in possession in Sounders half
of the field.

Speaker 14 (47:42):
She'd give away by Evander and the Sounders break in
left hand side. It's wide open, good driven ball Bye
rolled on finds the blonde head for Russneck down the
left hand side is Rothrock in the park in the
eh and yard.

Speaker 8 (47:53):
Bos gets a slight deflection off Chara that comes back and.

Speaker 14 (47:56):
Does his defensive duty, roles to the hand of the goalkeeper,
gives the Timbers a breather.

Speaker 3 (48:01):
Well, it's an interesting move by Neville tonight to go
with Sermon, a guy who has never played one minute
in this league. It comes from the Australian A League
and had some success with New Zealand's first team. But
to come in here at this pitch right now in
front of these fans as a center back against one
of the hottest strikers in Major League Soccer, that's a
difficult task. I thought for sure he'd slide Musca in

(48:21):
and bring Eric Miller, two veteran players to get on
the field in this big occasion. But he's obviously seen
something in this big six foot three center back that
tells him he can match up with Jordan just as
well as anyone I guess in this league. So a
tall task for him, but we'll see if they can
get the job done tonight against the Sounders.

Speaker 8 (48:39):
Yeah told ed Grabovoyd the GM for the Timbers.

Speaker 14 (48:42):
He said, Simmon's been playing well, obviously, a couple of
opportunities with McGraw, Howe Miller out through suspension. Here come
Jordan Morrison inside the bucks, holds it up well real free,
just says maybe a head of ball from Jordan Morris,
and as Portland gets set up for a free kicking
their eighteen yachts, are y'all books for the first time
this evening, We're gonna throw it down to Michelle love

(49:02):
Ga Haye, Michelle, my guys.

Speaker 7 (49:04):
Thanks so much, Danny.

Speaker 6 (49:05):
As Jackson and Brad alluded to at the end of
the prematch show, we have got a playoff atmosphere here
tonight at Lumenfield.

Speaker 7 (49:12):
We've got kind of an.

Speaker 6 (49:13):
Eerie, very almost like pre Halloween feeling, whereas the smoke
is still on top of the field from the fireworks.

Speaker 7 (49:19):
I'm going to center it back to you, Danny.

Speaker 14 (49:21):
It comes new down the left hand side. Thanks Michelle,
we'll get right back to you. Is this play develops
the attacking third of the field, there's rothrop plating, scintillating
form in the last couple of months. To Jordan Murrow
top of the box they'll giveaway, but one by Vargas,
picked up by Chara All bouncing around in the middle
of the park, eventually finds more back to goal, pressed
by rolled On, finds the foot of Anthony and he's

(49:43):
the lineup because of Moreno and.

Speaker 8 (49:46):
Gus picks it up in the middle of pul We'll
throw it back down to Michelle.

Speaker 7 (49:49):
Thanks Danny.

Speaker 6 (49:50):
There's been a lot of talk about how the Sounders
have not beat the Timbers at home since twenty seventeen,
and when asked about it earlier this week, Stephan.

Speaker 7 (49:56):
Fry was like, I don't want to focus on the negative.

Speaker 6 (49:58):
I want to focus on the positive, and is that
the Sounders have not lost in six matches. And that
is the atmosphere that I can feel right now on
this pitch on the sideline. It's coming from the Sounders players,
coming from the Sounders bench, and it's coming from the fans.
Like Stephan Price had this week, He's ready for them
to continue on that momentum and end Decision Day with
a win.

Speaker 8 (50:17):
Thanks Michelle.

Speaker 14 (50:17):
Yeah, we certainly felt emotional watching the videos. Roger Levett
getting honored as the Alumni of the Match through our
fiftieth anniversary celebrations. No better player so wave the flag
tonight than a certain Roger Levett. We both played with
him red and kind of symbolizes what the sound is
all about.

Speaker 8 (50:38):
Just where's its hardness?

Speaker 11 (50:39):
Lee?

Speaker 8 (50:39):
It's got such character and emotion. It's great to see
him out left.

Speaker 3 (50:42):
Yeah, I mean it's a guy. If you put a
jersey on him, he's gonna play for the club. And
he's actually gone of Portland Timbers Jersey before, so he
knows both sides of this rivalry. Certainly more of a
Sounders killer, which has been awesome. I mean he's been
in his day, he was the man, and I know
that you played in the heyday of his career and
his ability as a wiry forward just his engine was
amazing and he did it at the MLS level as well,

(51:04):
and we were just blessed to have him as a
leader in the locker room and to teach us young
guys what it was to be a pro, and to
still have him involved in here in the city is
It's really special. It's something that I'll always remember. I
got a lot of stories, but I think all of
us can't really share those on radio.

Speaker 14 (51:20):
Wouldn't be appropriate, and he's also runs washing U Soccer,
so yeah, well we could focus on the good stuff.

Speaker 8 (51:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (51:27):
No better alumni the club than Roger Levc And we've
been blessed with numbers of players throughout the season who
have celebrated his fiftieth anniversary. Of course, the Sounders, Cooper,
white Caps, San Jose Earthquakes all celebrating their fifty anniversary
and I think Simbers do it next year.

Speaker 8 (51:45):
So certainly lots of history in the Pacific Northwest.

Speaker 14 (51:49):
And as he mentioned, the Sounders have a chance tonight
if they win this game to go top of Cascadian
Cup standings and win it once again. And it comes
rolled on, it's pulled down by a vander So I
had the Portland Timbers half.

Speaker 8 (52:05):
Of the field.

Speaker 14 (52:05):
It's gonna be a be an interesting game for the referee,
is me a heck, Mitch, he's gonna have to really
control things. You've many games like this where there's a
lot of emotion. The referee is gonna play as big
of a part in these early stages, not get too
fence down to the yellow cards and just control things
and let the game play.

Speaker 3 (52:21):
Well, it's done everything right so far, and it's you
don't want the game to get away from you, and
in any rivalry game it can. And so he's done
a good job so far. If calling the fouls, it
should be fouls the next one. If Portland is a
blatant fault like that, it's gotta be a yellow card,
just so it sends a message to the rest of
the crew on both sides. Right, it's not just about
the Portland Timbers, it's about the Sounders too. Must be
cautious in this game. Is it two years ago that

(52:42):
Jackson Reagan picked up that red card here at home
against Portland really kind of had the game in the
bag and then it all went helen ham basket after
that point. So the Sounders have to keep eleven guys
on the field, and you want to have consistency in
the game. We don't want to see fouls every five
to ten minutes. That's not what we're here for tonight.
I think both teams will want to feel the effect
of that and really try to get a rhythm.

Speaker 14 (53:03):
Boy it comes new top of the box and he'd
goat to see him. He gets nutched off, the ball
swings and missus picked up by Mosquero, who scored the
game winner the end of August, very similar to the
goal he scored in that four to one win in
twenty twenty three. Sounders are up with a Raal Roudiez
goal in that particular game and Timbers came storming back
in the final twenty minutes, the goal gets clipped towards Moura.

Speaker 8 (53:27):
There's no three players in MLS who've scored more goals between.

Speaker 14 (53:31):
Mora, Efander and Rodriguez than those three, and Rodriguez Mora
were out in the last game the end of August
where the Sounders did outshoot the Timbers, but they got
that goal from Masquera, as we mentioned. But they're a
threat going forward, but it certainly shit a lot of goals.
Will be interesting to see how they balanced those two
sides of the ball tonight.

Speaker 27 (53:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (53:51):
I mean that's what Portland Timbers have been built on
this year, last year, and similar when they had Valariu.
I'm not sure they were ever really a defensively stout team.
And maybe that's just because I remember our games against
them in three four, four four games right, all these
high scoring games, and so I'm sure that Nevill's thinking
man if I had a solid back line and the Sounders.
I'd be often flying to a supporters shield, but that's

(54:12):
how teams are built.

Speaker 14 (54:13):
Let's ball out the top of the Paul Bite de
la Vega just tries to find that space in between
the back four messed up by mascare giving away to
the blonde head Rouznak career year for him as well.
In the middle of the part, finds the foot of
roll down right hand side, right corner of the box
Ballard just defending, just on top of their eighteen yard
box ball goes left and new rock Rock available for him.

Speaker 8 (54:34):
He gets it five yards.

Speaker 14 (54:36):
Away, Wi scaring now defending and she'd give away from
the right back.

Speaker 8 (54:40):
Towards the end line.

Speaker 14 (54:41):
Rock Rock goes, not scared of taking him on one
v one, but walls it over the end line. It's
gonna be a goal kick for pauland remains here in
the tenth minute.

Speaker 8 (54:48):
A packed.

Speaker 14 (54:51):
Loomen field, every seat play it, fans down below us
all on their feet.

Speaker 8 (54:56):
It feels like those early days grad where you involved,
where the crowded. You can just feel the buzz tonight.

Speaker 3 (55:02):
Yeah, I mean, it's a fantastic crowd to have here
on your last home game of the season, and you
know the Sounders tradition handing out the car nations, and
now let's let's see if the Sounders can get into
a rhythm. Herr as Portland attacks.

Speaker 14 (55:13):
He's Anthony right, and so as you mentioned in tonight
for for Reno who's missed out tonight, as they get
gid up for a midweek game, and it's gonna be
a go kick full of Sounders for Stefan Freud, Dicktau
in old Balloon. As you get set, we're gonna throw
it down to Michelle.

Speaker 7 (55:28):
Thank you, Danny.

Speaker 6 (55:29):
It's supposed to have a rainstorm that comes through Seattle
here tonight. Currently it is not raining, but I wanted
to point out that it is rather windy down here,
some huge wind gusts coming through that are basically the
Sounders are going into right now, which could benefit them. Obviously,
you want to be going into the win in the
first half as opposed to the second half. If there's
still wind, you want it to be going to your favor.
But it's been going from east to west. So something

(55:51):
to keep in mind, especially with the Sounders crosses in
front of the box, which hopefully we'll get a few
of those, but these wind gusts could factor in to someplace.

Speaker 8 (55:59):
Thanks Micha.

Speaker 14 (56:00):
Oh yeah, warm usually warm night for mid to end
of October sixty degrees or so. But yeah, the weather
forecast definitely shows rain in the air, which would be
a bad thing for the Sounders. The ball goes down
the line this left hand side, this near side sounds
attacking the goal to our left. Ball goes into rowel
towards the end line. Is Selma Scart does a better
job of defending on rough Rock. That's kin profoul potentially

(56:21):
gets it, just feels the pressure from rough Rock falls down,
gets his free kick and what you'll expect to see
Bredley's early stage of the game, especially Portland will take
their time in these free kicks.

Speaker 8 (56:33):
Just try and take this thing out of the game
as a sound of trying and build momentum.

Speaker 3 (56:36):
Yeah, for sure. It's the same thing that the Sounders
do anytime we go down to Portland is you got
to take the crowd out of the game, and the
best way to do that is to take your time
on set pieces. Play for set pieces also right, and
the Sounders are doing all the right things. If you
watch that whole playe developed Jordan actually starts his run
on the left sided center back and comes square all
the way right on Sermon's shoulder and then makes that

(56:56):
diagonal run into space. And it's a good ball buy
new who at the end of the day, and just
an unlucky touch there from from Paul Rothrock And it's
a guy who needs to get into the game just
a little bit. But you know it's he hasn't really
faced Mascara all that much, and I think, well, Scare
is probably the most athletic right back that he's faced
so far. So Paul's got to figure out can I
be that technical player that's gonna slash and be faster

(57:18):
or do I need to slow things down and look
for more combinations on the ball. And you've already seen
similar to two weeks ago. Is on offense, Alex Roldan
no problem pinching in as an extra number six and
I making that box in the midfield for the Sounders.

Speaker 8 (57:31):
You have Alex rodond from not right backs, but likes
to get involved.

Speaker 14 (57:34):
Of course, the Sounders designed this set up positionally to
allow rolled On to do that. It's more just flicks
it around the corner. Reagan's step ten missed his head.
It's gonna be a thrown for the sound is right
in front of that bench on this near sight. It's
good pressed by the sound as it won the ball
as what tim is built out of the bank. Rold
Throat mentioned just a couple of weeks to me, a
couple weeks ago to me when we had a chat

(57:56):
just after practice, that teams are starting to figure him out. Right,
he's been in it for a few months now. He
was an unknown quantity to some extent, so he could
find his way. But now pinching in on the left
hun side like somebody there's dancing runs inside of the
outside back, and he mentioned some of the backs. Now
it's going to drop off a little bit, recognize the
run he's making, and that's get to the next evolution

(58:16):
for him as a player. Right, he's gonna when he's
a known quantity, how is he gonna evolve his game
to kind of beat out some of the defenders that.

Speaker 8 (58:23):
Have been studying in up with bum Vidia.

Speaker 3 (58:24):
Well that's not only just Paul Rothrock. I mean you
look at a guy like Alex Roldan, who you know,
three four or five years ago, he's getting six or
seven assists on a year as serving the ball as
a right back, and then all of a sudden, you're
only getting one or two a season. Twelve teams have
figured you out and they know that we cannot let
him serve the ball in right and so it's up
to the It's up to the player to evolve. And
the biggest thing is that he recognized it right and

(58:46):
then he has his self awareness to know that, like
we said before, he can't just take guys on every
single time he has a ball. There's a game within
a game, and you're essentially playing one v one against
Muscira on a night like tonight. You got to figure
out that puzzle while you're on the field.

Speaker 8 (59:01):
As debut dog Sermon just launched the ball down the line.
That's near sight. It's gonna rulled through to Jackson Reagan.

Speaker 14 (59:07):
Today's match is proudly presented by Emerald Queen Casino and
I'll get back to you in a second. Given away
cheaply by Reagan the Sounders but picked up well by
Yama has had another stellar year.

Speaker 8 (59:18):
Defensive Player of the Year candidate.

Speaker 14 (59:19):
Ball goes in behind the back four for Paul and
picked up by Jordan Morris to Raznak, who's been lively
in these first fifteen minutes. Remains nil nil Here at
EQUC pitch, Lumanfield ninet fifty KGr a m Baure gets
flicked up toward the back stick, ball goes up headed
away by Zuperich, clips through to Alex Roldan, not to

(59:41):
ye Mark eleven men behind the ball for the Timers
finds Alex rolled on given away look loose on the
first touch, picked up well by the Timbers who will
come out and transition quickly. We know that the Sounds
have struggled at times for teams that have absorbed pressure
as the losses they've had in the last couple of
handful of months went back to Midsummer where teams have

(01:00:02):
absorbed pressure and it sounds have struggled to break those
teams down.

Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
Well, a lot of teams come in here and play
five in the back. That's what we've seen tonight. The
Timbers are actually here in a normal formation and Neville
has said we're gonna go for it right. Both teams
are in the playoffs. The seeding kind of matters a
little bit. Portland might get lucky and play Vancouver actually
at home even though Vancouver might be the higher seed.
So credit to Neville to come in here and not
just sit with five guys in the back and actually

(01:00:27):
play a game here at Lumenfield. I think that's the
biggest thing is we've seen, like you said, teams absorb
pressure and then catch us on the counter attack. But
tonight no excuse. Both both teams are playing high, high
press soccer and getting.

Speaker 14 (01:00:39):
After it crowd like that de la Vega let's step
over to her brother fell on his back side. Big
night for Dela Vega as well as he starts to
cement himself in that attacking three see a big money
signing in the off season, struggle through some injuries, no
full of his own sound, as if with cotton boll
around him the months building up to this game, just

(01:01:01):
to make sure he's fitting, ready to go. Wouldn't be
great to have one hundred percent fit and rar into
Godalla Vega and as sounders they build.

Speaker 8 (01:01:10):
In Portland's hard for the field. So let's get back
to the read if I can.

Speaker 14 (01:01:15):
Today's match is proudly presented by Emerald Queen Casino see
BlackBerry Smoke Live and the EQC Events Center on October
twenty fourth Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest,
goes Sounders.

Speaker 8 (01:01:28):
The Sounders transition quickly from defense to attack.

Speaker 14 (01:01:31):
It's gonna been offside on the Sounder's gonna be a
free kick for Portland just inside their eighteen yard books.
Seventeen minutes gone here, packed house. As we mentioned, lots
of pregame festivities going on around the stadium, on the field,
and certainly these led light shows that they've introduced.

Speaker 8 (01:01:49):
This year a certainly adds to it.

Speaker 14 (01:01:51):
I mean I was saying to Heally Dunning just before
we got on, now we have to compose myself. I
was getting emotional with all the videos going.

Speaker 8 (01:01:57):
On in the build up. It's something pretty special. Imagine
for the standing in the tunnel hearing all this, it
really gets you fired up.

Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
Yeah, I mean we never saw that as players, that's
for sure, and it just adds to the occasion. And
it really started on that fiftieth anniversary game where they
really turned this place. I don't think anyone actually knew
that the lights could change colors up until that point.
Once they figured that out, it's been a spectacle ever since.
There's a lot of stadiums that do it now, right,
Austin FC is doing a lot of teams around this

(01:02:24):
league are starting to do it, which is really cool.
It just adds more to the spectacle. As we just
see another foul on Rodriguez, that's a second one, and
that's another one on Yemar. He's gonna have to be
careful at this point in the referee. Like I said,
I thought it might bring out his yellow card. But
certainly Portland Timber is not afraid to come in here
commit fouls. And if it's gonna be, it's gonna be
high up the field. No issue with that because we

(01:02:46):
watch your replay here. Yeah, it's all after the play too.
No use for that one. A little bit of by
You want to see it out of the Sounders too.
It can't just all be the other team. If you're
a center back, you're telling anyone up the field, Hey,
if you get in trouble, I'll high up the field
and don't just Yanko Jersey get something out of it
if you're going to actually make a foo.

Speaker 14 (01:03:04):
Yeah, but I think the last game where it was
I knew who got a yellow card in that second half,
I think it's got a little bit fiery at times,
as Portland got one over the Sounders in that particular game.

Speaker 8 (01:03:16):
Sounders two to one winners earlier.

Speaker 14 (01:03:18):
On in the season, so not just Cascadia Cup, but
as we mentioned, the Sounders haven't worn Heresin's twenty seventeen
holding on some streak against the Sounders, the ball gets
flipped up well by I guess here comes Morris in
behind walls it out to Dela Vega in the eighteen
yard box. Good block by Sermon picked up again, just

(01:03:39):
slid down as zuper Rich crunches through wins the ball.

Speaker 8 (01:03:43):
But I think it was the follow through on Dela Vega.

Speaker 14 (01:03:45):
It's gonna be a free kick outside the box for
the Sounders, but a good chance. It was Morris who
gave it to Dela Vega, but good defending by the
young young center back.

Speaker 3 (01:03:56):
Look at this one. It's a ball played square into
the middle and three or four Portland timbers come across
and try to negate Obed Vargas from praying that ball
for it, and you know what he does instead of
playing the ballground. It's just a little flick ball over
the top and a lucky little bounce. But like you said,
a good recovery from Sermon there in a sliding tackle.
I think Pedro de la Vega goes for power there instead.
He's got to be cheekier. They's got to know that

(01:04:18):
the keeper's going down and the defender's always gonna slide.
He's got to have that little chip in his back
pocket to chip it over the keeper. But the Sounders
fortunate to get a foul out of this one, just
on the corner of the eighteen, about six yards outside,
with some good service in this end of the field.

Speaker 8 (01:04:34):
Well, Rosneck on fifteen assists for his year.

Speaker 14 (01:04:37):
As we've mentioned, he's one assist behind the Sounders record
holder for assists in a regular season, that's Ladero. He
sits on sixteen assists. So we've seen Rosneck deliver from
this side of the field. Here at lumin Field, Jackson
Reagan has been the recipient of good delivery. He's got
a couple of goals this year, and of course Nemo

(01:04:58):
has gotten the end of one in Leaked Cup as
well from as a corner kick.

Speaker 8 (01:05:03):
Here's the galaxy.

Speaker 14 (01:05:04):
So here are the Sounder's twenty yards from the end
line right channel, Sounds attacking the goal to our left
Raga's sitting on top of the eighteen Paul and holding
their line right about twelve yards away from their goal.
Just stun the penalty spot when Russneck puts some good
delivery and it's the referee just organizes things as the

(01:05:24):
players jostle for position, all on the right hand side,
Sounders making their move. Whistle goes two arms up in
the air by Rosne. What's here top of the six
headed away by Sermon straight by roll Done, takes a deflection,
bounces through to this left channel that's near side, picked
up by Jackson Reagan. The Paraders gives it away to

(01:05:49):
roll Down's they're.

Speaker 8 (01:05:49):
Whipping him with his right foot. That said hi and long.

Speaker 14 (01:05:52):
It's gonna bounce once all the way through of the
end line. It's gonna be a goal kick for Paul.
And here in the twenty first minute QC pitch lumen
Field nineteen kg AM Sounders.

Speaker 8 (01:06:02):
Nil Poland nil.

Speaker 14 (01:06:04):
On this decision day, and this score update is presented
by Emerald Queen Casino.

Speaker 3 (01:06:10):
See why Sermon's in there right, that's a second or
third ball that's been swung in the box and he's
a big president sixty three six four he's gonna win
those every single time. It's gonna take something special from
the Sounders. You have to take him out of the play.
Whoever the target is, you have to get that guy
out of the play. And how do you do that.
It's by setting up picks inside the box. Can't just
be these straight runs in the box and hope that

(01:06:31):
the service gets there. Sounders will have to be a
bit more dynamic because the Sounders do. Portland Timbers do
have a pretty big and tall team well.

Speaker 14 (01:06:40):
Sound As FC Soka is presented by Provident, Swedish official
healthcare Ponda of Sounders FC sound as a sixty percent possession.
Bryan Schwetz has mentioned throughout the year that fifty percent,
whether it's home or way, is to target for the team.
They managed to hit that many times here at Luminfield.
We still have a bit of sound taste them mount
At the beginning of the year, we gave away some leads,

(01:07:02):
some goals late caused us to struggle.

Speaker 8 (01:07:05):
To win here at home. That sunders I've only conceded
thirteen goals out sixteen games, as the best in MLS
for any home team. As we mentioned, thirty four goals
against leads MLS.

Speaker 14 (01:07:18):
By good margins, So if the Sounders give up less
than three goals, they will for sure be the best
defensive team again the regular season. They matched it last
year with Nashville. I think it almost feels like it's
happened out of nowhere where the Sounders have just found
a way to win and five clean sheets in their
last six games.

Speaker 8 (01:07:37):
So great way to us get into the playoffs. Start
with defense first.

Speaker 3 (01:07:40):
Yeah, you would never have guessed at the first nine
games of the season, right who we'd be sitting here
saying that the Sounders are going to have the least
goals against average or the best goals against average in
the entire league and to still be in seventh or
eighth place overall out of the supporters shield standing. And
you know that defense wins championships, and so you'd rather
have it the other way for me. Instead of Portland

(01:08:01):
having scored so many goals get them getting into the playoffs,
They'd rather have a stout defense and bank on a
one nothing win here or there throughout the playoffs than
willy Nilly soccer. But you know, credits it to night.
Portland's held their own has been a pretty even back
and forth game. After twenty four minutes, neither team with
any big chances just yet testing a goalkeeper. The Sounders

(01:08:23):
will pick up their first yellow card in this match.
Knew who yep, knew.

Speaker 8 (01:08:27):
Who Anthony pulled down the line, just got something in
front between the ball and knew who knew who slashed
him down.

Speaker 14 (01:08:35):
It's gonna be a free kick for Portland forty five
yards or so from the end line, just in front
of the Sounder's bench. It's gonna be a Vander's gonna
pop it in towards new who heads it up in
a way finds de la Vega gets pulled down is
mosquire on Oberd Vargas. It's gonna be a free kick
for the Sounders top of their box. Hold on, have

(01:08:55):
you a little worded the referee? Just I don't understand something.
I wonder if he's said about that pool? And how's
that not a free kit? The Sounders were potentially going
to break quickly, good professional found no yellow card given
by the referee. Here come the sound that's far side
the right with Roald on la Vega making a little
striking run between the back four. Paul doesn't get there,

(01:09:17):
comes back to Jackson.

Speaker 8 (01:09:19):
Reagan of course.

Speaker 14 (01:09:19):
Signed that big new contract confirms his place at the
Sounders for the next three plus years.

Speaker 8 (01:09:27):
Yeah marm Yeah.

Speaker 14 (01:09:28):
Ever pressent back there alongside Jackson. Both players didn't have
a great preseason. The first game of the season against
LAFC was Jackson, Reagan and Nathan who actually starts, and
Jackson Reagan really hadn't started the game in preseason, so
it had come a long way since.

Speaker 8 (01:09:45):
Those early parts. But it comes off right left poard
of the box.

Speaker 14 (01:09:48):
Challenge by Muscia, goes back to rold Arm shifts it
from center fast side the right too. His brother Alex
Elavega showing Alex comes inside, drops it off to Obrid Vargas,
who mentioned Coret chats to.

Speaker 8 (01:10:00):
Him, got his first minutes.

Speaker 14 (01:10:02):
The senium men's national team for Mexico changes allegiance to
Mexico just earlier in this season. This is just rewards
after a really really good year. But our guest seven
assists on his year. Paul goes into Morris back to golf.
It's pulled down double team by Paratus and Shara Or
goes down wins the ball.

Speaker 8 (01:10:22):
Timbers come away with it with Anthony goes squeats, Parade's
giving away Chief a little pull down. R Free's just
got a call a foul. You've got Anthony.

Speaker 14 (01:10:31):
Who's having a low word with the assistant referee on
this side, thinks getting a little choppy.

Speaker 8 (01:10:35):
Hopefully he just needs to calm things down.

Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:10:38):
I think right now what you're seeing is that good
spell of Sounders possession. But you're starting to see the
Timbers slowly drift back and sit with Yes, it's a
back line of four, but the front five in front
of them are really shifting back and getting behind the
ball and they're baiting the Sounders in for that entry
ball on the inside. And then all of a sudden
you see three or four Portland Timbers attack and once
they get that touch, if the Sounders aren't clean off

(01:10:59):
they go and the Sounders have to commit a foul
there because they're under the gun. So the sounder's got
to be a bit more patient and goes side to side.
When that ball goes out to Alex Oldan, I don't
want him to. I don't think he wants to come
back inside. I think everyone on the team wants him
to use the width of the field, take a touch,
get some service and turn around this Portland Timbers defense.
If everything's in the front of him, it becomes easy
night for the Portland Timbers.

Speaker 14 (01:11:19):
Here at home, twenty seventh minute Here Blumenfields Sounders nil,
Timbers nil.

Speaker 8 (01:11:24):
No bigger rivalry in MLS and these two teams.

Speaker 14 (01:11:27):
As Jackson Ray has a heavy touch, goes in Praders,
wins the ball, but it's rolled on, picks it up,
drives across the harp rail and chase down by Parade
as Fins Rothbrock inside the h and yard bucks left
hand side a long the six.

Speaker 8 (01:11:40):
It goes click by Zuper Hicks top of the boxes,
rolled on, strikes a.

Speaker 14 (01:11:43):
Good blot by Chara, rebounds all the way back to Yama.

Speaker 8 (01:11:47):
Good little flick of the outside of his foot finds
Alex rolled on far side the right. There's Brosna. Can't
miss him tonight, bleach, blonde hair crimed and ready to
go for the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (01:11:59):
Well that's about it from the Sounders. Christian Rodan using
all his pace power experience to get forward and Paul
Rothard just under hits that ball and you see it
on the replay. If your plant foot is anywhere behind
the ball as you're going to strike it. You're never
going to get the power that you want generated on
that pass. And he just doesn't get his timing right
with his feet to whip that ball in with his
left foot with power and pace.

Speaker 14 (01:12:21):
We've seen Rothorp have some joy ready on the left
hand side, doesn't be able to connect really on that
his crosses and his delivery which have been so good,
and there's been a number of times that Rothrock, including
down in pauland I remember.

Speaker 8 (01:12:32):
When he played a couple of noise balls on the
left hand side.

Speaker 14 (01:12:36):
Oky wants to connect here, comes to delevate good ball
in tur russneck right from of the box. The clip
it in, It rolls alongside, doesn't find a green shirt,
chased down by Della Vague Anthony back to defend.

Speaker 8 (01:12:48):
It, goes back to Sermon who knocks it down the line.

Speaker 14 (01:12:51):
Good cords bounced it out of play to Phil Neville,
the former man United Everton England International. First season at
the held for the Timbers, and he's certainly entertained lots
and lots of goals mentioned Rodriguez, Moura and Evander. That
trio has scored forty five goals. I believe up to

(01:13:13):
this point of the season, when you think about the sound.

Speaker 8 (01:13:15):
Has only scored fifty goals as a team.

Speaker 14 (01:13:18):
It just shows how potent they've been going forward, but
the problems are at the back. So he scored sixty
four goals at the Timbers given up fifty five.

Speaker 8 (01:13:27):
So there's no boring games when the Timbers are playing.

Speaker 14 (01:13:32):
When it come to Sound right hand side with Rosnack
gets his head up, whips it in towards the backstick,
there's Rod Rock, good defending by Moscarra heads it over
the end line corner Caick for the Sound has remains
nil Neil bret Evano.

Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
That's good build up from the Sounders. And this time
Alex does the right thing. He takes a little square
ball touch inside and able to find Albert Rusnak there
on the wing afterwards from Abid Vargas. But as Paul
Rothrock's got to know as soon as that ball gets
switched from center back all the way out to Alex,
he has to be on his horse inside the box.
And if he does that then he's in front of Musquaa.
They're winning the header instead of behind. And it's just

(01:14:06):
the little tiny things. But yes, the Sounders get a
corner kick out of it. Decent play overall, is starting
to see some pressure here from the Sounders.

Speaker 14 (01:14:13):
You have to take a chance once in a while.
There comes Rosenack, whips it in with his right foot,
gilds it out.

Speaker 8 (01:14:17):
Disappointed delivery. The crowd grown picked.

Speaker 14 (01:14:20):
Up by Bravo farside, looked like he'd gone out of plate.
Nothing given by the assistant referee's standing just a couple
of yards away. He minds Anthony call in possession in
defending by Jackson Reagan. Nopould given by the referee. As
Anthony goes to the deck, hoped forward by Morris. Has
been quiet so far in the game.

Speaker 8 (01:14:41):
A couple of chances to break Here he is again
and just finds it this Della bay.

Speaker 14 (01:14:44):
He just clip it one point, rolled on to his
brother Christiano rolls it out from the censer just near
side the left. The crowd like it the left corner
of the box, says Rothrock goes square to rolled On
just cuts it by.

Speaker 8 (01:14:56):
Parade as points Rothrock inside the box to his right foot.

Speaker 14 (01:14:59):
Try said, comfortable save for the goalkeeper, but we build
up for the Sounders.

Speaker 8 (01:15:04):
First shot and target for the Sounders. The knock came back.
You know it's quite break through.

Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
Yet it's back and forth right now, as Portland Timbers
trying to slow this thing down just a little bit
and gain some possession in the Sounders out. But a
good break from the Sounders and Paul Rothrock does the
right thing there and playing the ball to Christian and
then opens himself back out why and he wants to
have that one back because he's got to go far
close to that shot. Never gonna beat the keeper, although
the center back does slide over a kind of block
slas shot. But that's the one you got to lift

(01:15:31):
in the air and just curl around and trust it.
You've got the technique to get it there.

Speaker 28 (01:15:36):
Well.

Speaker 14 (01:15:36):
This copyrighted audio casts of Major League Soccer may not
be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent
Major League Soccer.

Speaker 8 (01:15:44):
Neil Nil.

Speaker 14 (01:15:45):
Here between these two great rivals, Timbers and Sounders, packed
house at lumin Field, New, who has left hand side
this near side, rolls it inside to a roth Rock.

Speaker 8 (01:15:54):
Give and go.

Speaker 14 (01:15:55):
It comes New driving forward inside the box, defended by Mosquira,
comes off from a scare. It doesn't quite good ever,
the ind line saved by Moscow. He's gonna clip it forward.
His right foot finds a Vanderho's been quiet so far
in this game, and the Sounders will take that man
to the vander.

Speaker 8 (01:16:11):
He's really found his feet this year.

Speaker 14 (01:16:14):
Fifteen goals, eighteen assists, thirty three goal contributions.

Speaker 8 (01:16:18):
De la Vegas scort slow on the ball. He's a
lot sluggish in these early parts of the.

Speaker 14 (01:16:22):
Game, and we seen Raischem it's not hesitate to make
changes in the second half, but given away by a
Vander That disappoints Phil Neville as he jumps up and
just into his thighs and frustration.

Speaker 8 (01:16:35):
Think the sound is great breaking ball by rolled On
just drives it to raw rock inside the eighteen yard box.

Speaker 14 (01:16:40):
Left corner goes past, must Scare tries to find the
park corner just wide.

Speaker 8 (01:16:45):
Go kick remains nail mill. Sounders are knocking bread.

Speaker 3 (01:16:48):
Evidence that's the one that he wanted, and the Sounders
are fortune. Looks like Rodriguez may have picked up a
little something with his knee there on that give and
goal wasn't able to stretch it on the line with
other Portland timbers would be on the break, but the
Sounders recovering. Like you said, Christian World picks up the
ball here and that thing's on a rope. That's a
worm Burner's what we call it. It's a great touch
from roth Rock. This is the one he wanted before, too,
is to come inside and try to shape that ball

(01:17:09):
far post. I always tell you, if you're gonna hit
that one, you're aiming for the middle of the posts,
the middle of the far post. You know if you
overhit it, it's gonna go top ends. But if you're
aiming for the top posts, most likely that ball is
going three or four yards over the post. Give yourself
some grace, a little room to wiggle there.

Speaker 8 (01:17:25):
Worm burner, is that what you call Daisy cutter? Well
goes into Rodriguez again.

Speaker 14 (01:17:32):
The place has been quiet. It goes back to a Vander.
It can take much for those guys to ignite. Here
comes Anthony top the boxes a Vander again. He can
play this left and his right, but tries to flip
it around the corner one well by roll darn the
crowd like that. Delaveaga available to his right. Far side,
laurs just peeling off sermon sermon steps forward, roars off side.
We'll go square to Bargas, just rolls the pressure of

(01:17:54):
Mora finds rock Rock again. Lots of opportunity left the
corner of the box, little shimmy towards the end line.

Speaker 8 (01:18:00):
Can he get that? Walked out by Moscarra no.

Speaker 14 (01:18:04):
Goal kick given, but finds the hands of handsomest in
Gold lulls it out to Chara, who's knocking on the
door of four hundred games for the Timbers and their
players played more ever present since the Timbers came into
the league, and continues.

Speaker 8 (01:18:20):
To play Brad at such a high level. I mean,
he's aged the mileage and he's a player that's gonna
get involved where needed, and he's gonna be player that's
gonna say.

Speaker 3 (01:18:31):
It was alrly five years into the league when I've
played my last match, which is crazy. I mean, the
guy is ever present and there's only a handful of
players that have been able to do it right. You
think of Forshawrie Joseph, if you think of Kyle Beckerman,
you think of Ozzy obviously, and then you think of Chara.
Those are the ones that stick out in your mind
as the consummate sixes that have stayed for the most

(01:18:51):
part at one club and done the job. And you know,
hats off to him in his career, and he doesn't
seem to be slowing down all that much. I think
it's gonna be up to him whether or not he
wants to continue playing.

Speaker 14 (01:19:02):
Yep out of contract this year, signed a contract through
the end of twenty twenty four. Three hundred and ninety
ninth game for the Timbers, the most games of any
player at a single club in MLS history. He's played
the most games in the Sounders Timbers rivalry as well.
Tinues to put miles in his legs, but it's as

(01:19:23):
lively as ever. But the Sounders do have a chance
here from a set piece, and is the game going
to be settled from a set piece?

Speaker 8 (01:19:31):
Sep and Fry has certainly been very quiet.

Speaker 14 (01:19:32):
Back there as he stands ten yards outside his eighteen
yard box, hands on hips orgo square, see what Sounders
have up their sleeves. He flicked towards Rothrock, hit it down.

Speaker 8 (01:19:45):
He had a chance. It was well worked by the Sounders.

Speaker 14 (01:19:47):
It was Rosneck on his left hand side, went to Alex,
rolled on, clipped it towards Rothrock, couldn't.

Speaker 8 (01:19:54):
Make connection, rolled out for a goal.

Speaker 14 (01:19:56):
Kick here in the thirty fifth minute Sounders nil, Timbers
nil had an opportunity.

Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
I'm not sure if we could see a different replay
on that one. It looks like he got up and
just missed timed that header. But you knew that something
special was coming because the Portland Timbers had seven players
sitting on the eighteen and only four Sounders runners. So
you do, and Sounders have brought that out last week,
had brought out a couple different looks on free kicks
and a couple of them working out to their favor,
so they know that this Portland Timbers defense is the goals.

(01:20:22):
I'm not sure how many on set pieces, but they've
got some big bodies all shifted again. Sent to the
fastide right by rolled On finds Della Vega. Can he
find a bit of white here?

Speaker 14 (01:20:33):
As he plays the ball square into Vargas slides easily
towards the end line, with the ball inside the ag
yard box headed away by char over the end line
corner kick Sounders.

Speaker 8 (01:20:41):
They continue to press looking for this opening goal here.
As you mentioned a win would win them.

Speaker 14 (01:20:47):
The Cascadia Cup, he would get them in Champions COCHEF
Champions Cup for twenty twenty five and would solidify their
place in third position. As we get into the second half,
we will definitely keep you updated on all things going
around the Western Conferences.

Speaker 8 (01:21:03):
Teams will move around and evitable Chenoit Miami solidifoid.

Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
That win.

Speaker 8 (01:21:09):
And that position, tough and ease of comforence. Today the
bull goes.

Speaker 3 (01:21:12):
In hit it down.

Speaker 14 (01:21:15):
Sounders score of the back of Yama.

Speaker 36 (01:21:19):
It's a sixteenth assist for Rusnak.

Speaker 8 (01:21:23):
Then the opening goal for the.

Speaker 36 (01:21:25):
Sounders here on decision day, sound has won Portland nail.

Speaker 3 (01:21:30):
Well, look at this crowd, Danny, take off your your
microphone there and get a real piece of what this
crowd sounds like, because it is fantastic and that's what
the Sounders wanted. Enough pressure for the last fifteen to
twenty minutes, and the service on this one is just
a dime. As you watch air Rusnak with a two
step run up and Yemar is actually jumping backwards and
sure enough it's sermon there marking and just nowhere to

(01:21:53):
be found. And it's really not. It's a difficult header
jumping away. You're almost on the peak spot to get
that much pace and power. You see him the most
important thing to watch are on the replay is he
watches that ball and guides it. Wherever your forehead ends
up is where that ball is gonna go. And he
snaps his head, looks at that bottom corner and that

(01:22:13):
ball skips off the wet turf and into the back
of the net. And that's what you want. With five
six minutes left in this half, and the Sounders will
do well to close this half out. But continue the
pressure right, continue to put put this Portland team under pressure.

Speaker 14 (01:22:31):
Than we're going new just in front of the Sounder
bench and is Portland shake off that frustration giving up
that goal, We're gonna throw it.

Speaker 8 (01:22:39):
Down to Michelle.

Speaker 7 (01:22:40):
Thank you, Danny.

Speaker 6 (01:22:41):
As you mentioned, that is the sixteenth assist for Albert
Rushnak this year this season, and with that assist he
ties Nikol Ladaro for the most assists in a single
season in Sounders MLS history.

Speaker 14 (01:22:53):
Yeah, congratulations to Albody's se past put them got it
emse for most gold contributions a second and Sounders liner
over Femi Martin's standing on the shoulder sill above the
rest with thirty gold contributions and.

Speaker 8 (01:23:13):
Sixteen assists, ten goals.

Speaker 14 (01:23:14):
This year gets Rosneck to twenty six, So pray year
for Sounders number eleven, who took the place of Ladera
in that number ten spot and has really.

Speaker 8 (01:23:27):
Played to a top level.

Speaker 14 (01:23:28):
Here comes the ball by Mosquerra, headed away, finds the
foot of Rodriguez inside the eighteen yard box and did
it close down stripe by Bravo Good closing down by
Della Vega. Evander has it far side Portland's left, good
defending and hustled by Della Vega. A Vanda always looks
so composed, silly foul by della Vega.

Speaker 8 (01:23:50):
Especially with the ability of the Rebanda to put the
ball in the box.

Speaker 14 (01:23:53):
It's going to allow the likes of zoop Rich and
Sermon to come up for this free kick far side
the left for port.

Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
And Elevander bates Pedro Delvega into this one. He wants
that pressure so that he can just take a bump,
much like Niko Ladero used to do. Take a bump
and you fall down, you get a free kick. And
this is why he's had so many assists.

Speaker 14 (01:24:11):
As a Vander whips it in its difficult ball to
defend headed away by Jackson, Reagan Well picks up by Anthony.

Speaker 8 (01:24:17):
On his near side cuts it back to Masquira. Time
to deliver on his right hand side. Closed down now
as Anthony with a ball by Roald.

Speaker 14 (01:24:26):
Comes away, double team by Vargas goes back to Moscow
to clip it towards the back stick up goes.

Speaker 8 (01:24:32):
Yama, but to head the ball away. It's his first
goal on his campaign in twenty twenty fours.

Speaker 14 (01:24:39):
The ball comes back in, headed again by Yamar, defensively
solid as a ball comes back in towards Yamar, there
he is again.

Speaker 8 (01:24:47):
I mean he's doing on one side of the fielding
on the other.

Speaker 14 (01:24:50):
Sunder's gonna come away with it with Rothrock's gonna drive
it forward usually collected by zue Rich And what.

Speaker 8 (01:24:57):
Are you gonna come again?

Speaker 3 (01:24:58):
Yamar doing his own casey Kel retirement partner here. Hopefully
you don't have to retire after this. What you pick
up the goal and then you got three headers in
a row clearing it outside the box. I think Portland
knows now and we all know the most difficult time
for the Sounders will be this next five minutes. That's
why they must keep up the pressure. You can't just
let Portland come down now and get into a rhythm
and serve in balls from the left and right. It's

(01:25:18):
the worst time for the Sounders to take a goal
heading into halftime, and to give Portland a little bit
of hope heading into halftime too, allowing them to gain
possession and dictate the last four or five minutes.

Speaker 14 (01:25:29):
You'm so close between these two teams fifteen fifteen to
nine in regular season matches.

Speaker 8 (01:25:37):
Just a couple of doors separate them all time. Who
comes abound the ball at his feet sounds the need
to defend here.

Speaker 14 (01:25:45):
At the forty first minute, But spend like it matches
by supporting, by pucking diverse owned businesses all year long.

Speaker 8 (01:25:52):
There's a intentionless dot com to find a business near you.
It on this near side, ten yards or so from
the corner.

Speaker 14 (01:26:02):
Of Fleinchester, a couple of steps away from the assistant
referee Reagan and support from behind.

Speaker 8 (01:26:07):
There's going to be a Sounder.

Speaker 14 (01:26:08):
Throws, pauland shift and press trying to find this equalizing
goal before the Sounders go into the break given away
by News sitting on a yellow card. Of course, there's

(01:26:31):
Since certainly Portland have not had any fear building out
of the back, it's been a couple of times the
Sounders that find enjoy and putting pressure on the board.

Speaker 8 (01:27:19):
There's sixteenth on the season. It's a club tying record
with Ladero for a single season.

Speaker 3 (01:27:27):
So feat that is it is sixteen assis. If you
have been you know the story of this season has
been so interesting right with the start of the worst
started in Sounders history through the first nine ten ten
games in.

Speaker 8 (01:27:37):
The second took him a while to get going, as
it took.

Speaker 3 (01:27:40):
Him a while to get going, and to do it
in the mat in the way that he did has
been truly like a real turnaround point in the season
for the Sounders to end up with sixteen assists, no
wonder this team is where they are right now. We're
playing for that third place spot.

Speaker 8 (01:27:55):
Sound is leading one nail score. It is presented by
Provident Swedish.

Speaker 14 (01:27:59):
Just a few minutes to go before the halftime break.
Brian Schwetzer on his feet talking to the fourth official.

Speaker 8 (01:28:05):
Down below us Victor Reeves and comes brav Of striding
four down the left house side.

Speaker 14 (01:28:13):
It goes to Rodriguez, who's been quiet in this first half,
finds paradus to char as sound as ten men behind
the ball just defending top of that box. It comes
a band and clips it. A dangerous ball just goes.

Speaker 8 (01:28:26):
All the way through.

Speaker 14 (01:28:27):
Good defending by Alex roll Dog got his body between
Rodriguez and the ball.

Speaker 8 (01:28:30):
Let it bounce through over the end line. Goal kick
Sounders bred Evans.

Speaker 3 (01:28:34):
And when you watch Evander, it's a it's almost like
you don't see him for ten minute gaps and then
all that he gets it and he plays the perfect
ball every single time. If it's really an anomaly, yeah,
it' effortless and sometimes he looks like he's disinterested in
the game. He's basically the complete opposite of a Nico
la Darol. Right where you see Nico running as hard
as he can and working for every single ball, the
Vanders the opposite. He just kind of floats around the

(01:28:56):
field waits for the game to come to him. If
he hits a bad pass, he kind of throws his
hand in the air complaints, but it doesn't happen that often.
And when he does get the ball, he makes special
things happen.

Speaker 14 (01:29:05):
They come of Della Vega, the little nut job Bravo
whips it in, comes off the heel of zuper Rich.
It's going to be a Sounders throw eighteen yards or
so from the corner flag on the far.

Speaker 8 (01:29:15):
Side of the Sounders right.

Speaker 14 (01:29:17):
I would have mentioned a Vander twenty twenty three nine goals,
five assists, twenty twenty four to fifteen goals, eighteen assists,
and then his number ten on the other side of
the field. Albert Rouzneck seven goals four assists.

Speaker 8 (01:29:31):
Last year, ten goals fIF sixteen assists this year.

Speaker 14 (01:29:35):
So both number tens for these teams have had career
years in MLS.

Speaker 8 (01:29:40):
It's gonna be a goalkick four Portland.

Speaker 14 (01:29:43):
As the Sounders try and see out these final seconds,
we'll see what the referee has added.

Speaker 8 (01:29:48):
Not much to speak of in terms of delays in
this first half. It's been a wide open game. Both
goalkeepers haven't had much to do really, but certainly the
game has flowed well. Your teams looking to try and
get results.

Speaker 14 (01:30:01):
Of course, we'll fill you in throughout the second half
about where things stand in terms of positions.

Speaker 8 (01:30:07):
And a Sainty has one minute about its time and
like he was an innocuous challenge, referee has called a foul.
Further Timbers well, I guess.

Speaker 14 (01:30:18):
Perplex after just getting himself involved with Sermon and referee's
got a quick word with the debutante.

Speaker 8 (01:30:28):
But as you mentioned, you know, Emi used all that
experience bad.

Speaker 14 (01:30:31):
He just kind of leaned into sermon, found that pocket
of space and it was really a good head of
all going away from Gold. He had to angle that
down in the far corner. And we often talk about
teams not putting players on the post. Maybe back in
the day where we played and there was nobody on
the post and it slid right past.

Speaker 3 (01:30:46):
Yeah, it's it's six and one, half a dozen or
the other right, You always get into that conversation. It's
it's when you do have them on the post, you
don't have enough runners or defenders in the box. And
when you do have enough runners in the box, if
one just happens to get free in time there run
and you don't have some one on the post, your
toast at that point. But yea mar again, it's a
fantastic header. You'd like to generate power as the ball's

(01:31:08):
curling in at you, but to be able to go
backwards close this half out one nothing. The Sounders will
will feel like they have a little bit more to
give in this one, because, like you said, Portland Timbers
are actually wanting to play that actually favors the Sounders.
They're not just sitting back. So the Timbers now have
got a push and the Sounders have to take advantage
of that.

Speaker 14 (01:31:25):
Well, it was Jemar Gomez Andrade in a thirty seventh
minute assist, these sixteenth assists for Albert Russnik. They got
the Sounders on the board and they go into the
halftime locker room. One goal up here on decision day

players this season through the Rape Foundations One Mile, one

(01:34:50):
Ball program. Now time for the Sounders FC halftime show.

Speaker 2 (01:34:55):
Forty five minutes in the books here from Luminfield and
your Sounders are leading the tim via a score of
one to nothing. It was a thirty seventh minute header
from Jamar Gomez Andrade, his first of the year in
MLS action, second of the year overall. He scored in
League's Cup, of course, and Jamar heads it in by
the way on that goal in the thirty seventh minute.
That is the sixteenth assist of the year in MLS

(01:35:19):
action for Albert Rusnak. That ties him with Nikolas Ladero
for most all time assists in a single season with sixteen,
so Albert has equalized the club record there with Nico.
He will have forty five minutes to beat Nico's record
here with the Sounders leading one to nothing. Right now,
Jackson felt here for the halftime show with your Sounders leading,

(01:35:41):
reset the stakes of this game before we dig into
some really quick updates on what's going on around the
rest of the Western Conference. The winner of this game
gets the Cascadia Cup. There a trophy is in the
house tonight and the winner will take the Cascadia Cup
this year. If it is a top were to end
one to one, for example, then Portland would get Cascadia Cup.

(01:36:04):
So Sounders right now leading one nothing, they were saying
that they would get that trophy. Also, if the Sounders
were to keep this one nothing lead and win this game,
they would also get a spot in the COMONCALFFT Champions
Cup for next year. Remember CONCAFT Champions League. Sounders won
that in twenty twenty two for Stemma MLS team to
win that tournament in the formats, so that has slightly

(01:36:27):
changed only a name.

Speaker 3 (01:36:28):
It's COMICCAFT Champions Cup.

Speaker 2 (01:36:29):
Now Sounders would earn a spot if they win this
and that's because of various other things. And you have
La Galaxy, LAFC, Columbus and Miami. Of course they've already
earned spots, so the next best record would default then
to the Seattle Sounders if they were to win this
game and grab the the three seed in the Western Conference.
So with that said, in terms of seeding, I mentioned

(01:36:52):
Sounders right now leading one nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:36:54):
They have the three seed.

Speaker 2 (01:36:56):
They are up on the four seed Real saw Lake,
who are in a zero zero draw right now with
the Vancouver white Caps. Some other scores that are relevant
Colorado Rapids. For a moment, as the night began, it
looked like the Sounders could be facing the Rapids in
a three seed versus six seed game.

Speaker 3 (01:37:14):
That is how the night began. Lots have changed.

Speaker 2 (01:37:18):
Colorado Rapids are in a one to one draw right
now with Austin FC at the half. All games right
now kicking off at the exact same moment. I've also
told that the second halfs will also kick off at.

Speaker 3 (01:37:29):
The exact same moment.

Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
So we're actually gonna have a you know, slightly longer
halftime tonight because every single game is going to be
right on par to have the exact same halftime length
to make sure every single game goes into the ninetieth
minute and into added time in the exact same moment,
So everybody's on the same ground regarding you know what
scores happen when, So this is gonna get crazy.

Speaker 8 (01:37:53):
So that right now.

Speaker 2 (01:37:54):
Colorado won one, and with that Colorado has slipped because
of other results there. Right now, I believe the seventh
seed in the Western Conference, they'd be facing LAFC in
the first round. But the two big ones to talk
about are Houston. Houston grabbed a one nothing lead right
before their half, and Houston, by the way, is playing

(01:38:14):
La Galaxy. That's relevant to LAFC because I believe if
the Galaxy were to lose, an LAFC were to win,
and some other things were to break out, gold differential wise,
LAFC could theoretically grab that top spot. But right now
it is the Galaxy and Houston have a one nothing lead. Also,
Minnesota have a one nothing lead. They were able to

(01:38:35):
grab a one nothing goal there in the twenty second minute.
So right now as things sit, because of three points
going to Houston, because of three points going to Minnesota,
it's Houston is the five seed to face Salt like
the four seed, it's Minnesota the sixth seed. They would
be coming to Seattle to face the Sounders and the
three seeds. So right now, Minnesota, boom, listen, we all

(01:38:57):
know they have a terrible, terrible are playing at the
Emerald City. They have a pretty bad mark playing against
the Sounders. Overall, they would be that first round opponents.
And it isn't single elimination that first round in the playoffs.
That's a three game series. So Sounders will be facing
a three game series against Minnesota if if all results hold.

(01:39:18):
But listen, I don't think anybody expects that all results
will hold. We only hope that the Sounders won nothing
lead here over the Portland Timber as a hold.

Speaker 3 (01:39:26):
That's the one big hope right now.

Speaker 2 (01:39:28):
But as things sit right now, it is Minnesota as
the sixth seed and Houston at the five seeds, So
Minnesota at Seattle. Now, in terms of this game, we're
going back to it. This has really been forty five
minutes of the Sounders just keeping Portland under pressure. I
mean there was one instance where Portland had a sniffet
goal but Stephen Fries.

Speaker 3 (01:39:48):
Had next to nothing to do. It feels like feels
like Stephen Fries just having a slow day back there.

Speaker 2 (01:39:54):
Defensively, every single time they try to catch a long
ball to whether it's a Vander Jonathan Rodriguez, a Fleepe
mora Anthony.

Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
Nobody seems to get on the end.

Speaker 2 (01:40:03):
Of those long balls, whether it's Gamar or Jackson, Alex Knew,
who's getting in the way stepping up? Nobody seems as
a young kid here just hit the crossbar and the
crossbar challenge by.

Speaker 3 (01:40:14):
The way, but nobody seems to be end up getting.

Speaker 2 (01:40:17):
On the end of balls for the Portland Timbers, not
even on counters where they're so good. Nothing has been
coming for Portland so far. It's been the Sounders pressuring
them is but it's only been.

Speaker 3 (01:40:27):
One goal in the back of the net.

Speaker 2 (01:40:28):
We need to see more of that pressure turn into goals.

here in the second half in terms of keys is
the Sounders bench. It is a packed bench. It is
about as good of a bench as we've had all year.
Nathan Jo al Paulo, which would be very important year
in this one nothing lead. Roll Ruy Diaz, who of
course is the leading goal scorer against Portland of any
player in MLS play, has thirteen goals against the Timbers.

Speaker 3 (01:45:10):
He's on the bench.

Speaker 2 (01:45:11):
Jonathan Bell fresh off international duty with Jamaica, Danny Mazowski,
Reid Baker widing, Danny Lava, Georgie Manongu get this team
an extra mile per hour down a wing, and also
Andrew Thomas so lots there for head coach Brian Schmenzer.
My big key to this second half would be keep
playing like it's a zero zero game. Don't play like

(01:45:32):
it's a one to nothing lead right now. The first
half went great. Sounders had Portland under pressure for so
much of that game, nothing going for the Timbers offensive lead.
See that continue. Sounders don't need to take any foot
off the gas. They don't need to play like they're
have a big lead and they're just trying to massage
that lead. It's the prevent defense thing. Prevent defense only
prevents you from winning.

Speaker 3 (01:45:51):
That's the great thing. The only thing I've learned from.

Speaker 2 (01:45:53):
Playing Matt Sounders can't get into that prevent defense. I
don't think stay up, stay on them. Play like it's
zero zero and hold this one nothing lead. I'll step aside,
Danny Jackson and Brad Evans will come back.

Speaker 3 (01:46:06):
It's the second half.

Speaker 2 (01:46:08):

just a short time. She had a chance to speak
with Brian Schmitze coming out of the tunnel for the
second half, so we'll get her thoughts, get Brian's thoughts.

Speaker 8 (01:49:26):
As the Sounders in their anniversary.

Speaker 14 (01:49:28):
Kit, green shirts, blue shorts, white socks, they're gonna tack
their traditional and typical second half end the south end, the.

Speaker 8 (01:49:35):
Goal to our right, and then for the Timbers, they're
in all burgundy tonight.

Speaker 14 (01:49:39):
They're gonna be attacking the goal to our left on
a plustery and drizzly night tonight.

Speaker 8 (01:49:45):
As the wind and the rain spoils around here.

Speaker 14 (01:49:48):
But it's a packed house at lumen Field, big festivities
the beginning of the game. The game so far has
not disappointed and all games in the Western Conference, you're
going to be teed up, ready to go. And here
comes Albert Roznak to get this second half going four
rolls out to Alex roll Dam, goes inside to Obed Vargas.

(01:50:10):
We'll get you the lineups coming out for the second
half just after we speak to Michelle. As Portland starts
to build with Shara, you have to get to a
fast start.

Speaker 3 (01:50:20):
Is Moura has been.

Speaker 14 (01:50:21):
Quite in that first r or a vanda to Roderiguez
they're three main men all clips over who had a
chance to maybe let it go. You heard the shout
I think from Stepan Fryer, but acrobatically cut it out
and find a rothruck who rolls the ball out on
the far side for throw for pauland they get in quickly.
They're gonna play on the front foot in the second
half coming out of the gates, were gonna find it's

(01:50:42):
equalizing goal. We'll get to all the results and the
standings and the running scores. It's gonna be very interesting.
Forty five minutes lots to keep our eye on. What's
the balling for the Sounders. Who are they gonna play?

Speaker 8 (01:51:02):
Bill goes out on the fast side to Knew who.

Speaker 14 (01:51:08):
Has rolled on as a clip it down the lines,
but to roll through so before we get to Bret
Evans fist thoughts.

Speaker 8 (01:51:12):
So we're gonna throw it down to Michelle on the sidelines. Michelle,
thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:51:15):
Danny as I caught up with head coach Brian Schmitzer
at the half and he said during halftime, during the
break he discussed with his team's really the demands of
this game, how he was really surprised by the high
line that Portland was playing, and how risky that is.

Speaker 3 (01:51:27):
He said.

Speaker 7 (01:51:27):
The main focus at this point in time is really helping.

Speaker 6 (01:51:30):
Paul rothrock on with his one on one and having
more patients and more options for him when that happens.
Also focusing on really keeping defending clean, more pressure on
the left hand side, and really most importantly, more urgency
to get the second goal. Also, if there wasn't enough
good mojo going on in this stadium, right at the

(01:51:50):
start of the second half, there was an in stadium
proposal and she.

Speaker 7 (01:51:54):
Did say yes. Congratulations to them.

Speaker 6 (01:51:56):
Brian schmitz Aer actually taking a moment when he saw
it on the big screen to make sure the entire
quote cast side.

Speaker 14 (01:52:01):
That's fantastic. Well just timpithies Brian Schwitzer. Family man at heart,
of course, No.

Speaker 8 (01:52:06):
Bet it's mine.

Speaker 14 (01:52:07):
Other than standing on the sidelines for the Sounders, is
Brian with his grand children. Paul Timmers pick it up,
give it away, he said, by yamo straight to the
foot of Chara, plows it out to Anthony on that
right hand side, striding forward, no real pressure on it,
pulls it into a van and good cut out by
Vargas and slice clear by now he comes with roth

(01:52:28):
frogs gonna slide past the paradus, cross the halfway line,
rousneck available choice left, gets it inside the eighteen yard
box towards his left foot, cuts it back.

Speaker 8 (01:52:37):
Good defending by Sermon.

Speaker 14 (01:52:38):
It's gonna be a early corner kick in this second half,
bred Evans.

Speaker 3 (01:52:41):
It's a good break for the Sounders, and Paul Rothrock
does every right movement there and getting his body in
front of the Portland Timbers defender with the last ditch effort.
And it's a well weighted pass and Albert Rusnak find
himself inside the box. I'd rather have just lace that
bart the keeper low and hard and see what comes
of it. Instead, he goes inside foot trying to pick
out a pass, but the Sounders end up with a

(01:53:02):
corner kick as they start this one on the front foot.
No better time to get another one in the back
of the net. Like Schmidt said, is as quick as possible.

Speaker 8 (01:53:10):
Yeah, but Resident get his seventeenth assists on the season.
Ball comes in in swinger clips forward trouble.

Speaker 14 (01:53:15):
The bucks chef rolled on just heads it down toward
Jackson reg and eventually gets it, bubbles the bull back
to Vargas it's a great jump, strikes forward past Paradus,
strikes it across Rock Club White, really good chance. There's
a tight angle on the fast stick. He stretched with
his left foot. It's gonna be a goal kick put
good play for the sound has a really good play

(01:53:37):
by Ovid Vargas.

Speaker 3 (01:53:38):
Yeah, that's fantastic from obed Vargas. And look at this
Jackson Regan keeps us one alive and almost puts Obeed
Vargas in a little bit of trouble. But just like
obed Vargas has done all season, every right movement takes
all of his touch forward positive and he gets the
inside foot on that one and that allows that ball
to curl just under zuper Rich's foot. Jordan doesn't lay
out Paul roth Rockey in the right spot and Unlocky

(01:54:00):
not to shave that one back up frame.

Speaker 8 (01:54:01):
It comes Nanda.

Speaker 14 (01:54:02):
Of course, if Portland win this game, they win Cascadia
Cup as well, so get lots to play for for them.
They know where they're gonna be playing a playing game
this week. So we'll see what Nevill does in this
second half, pending on the result. It's gonna arrest some players,
pull some players off those they're gonna have to play
either Vancouver or Minnesota. Or Minnesota are right now winning

(01:54:23):
and they are actually the team that the Sounders will play,
sitting in sixth position right now, so Minnesota can go
anywhere up and down. That list between eighty seventh and
sixth all goes in picked up by Alex Roldan.

Speaker 8 (01:54:37):
So let's get you the Sounders lineup, no changes. Frian
gol about fourth, Roldan, Yemol, Reagan.

Speaker 14 (01:54:41):
Knew who Christian rolled on alongside Ovin Vargas in the
middle of the park, Delavego, Rusnak Roth Rock and then
Jordan Morris up front with Phil nevill and his team
Hantmising Goal Masquera, Zubrich Sermon and Bravo Shira Paradus right
in front of them. In the middle of the park
Anthony Evander Rodriguez and then fourteen gold Man Threepe Mora

(01:55:03):
up front. It comes Rothro rolls it into Brus a
little step over trying to find Jordan Morris, cleared up
and away by pauland flicks around the corner by rolled on.
Sounder's gonna build all the way from step front. Frye
now with Yamo.

Speaker 3 (01:55:18):
Well I think what you saw from the Sounders early
on was Alex Holdan was tucking in to really add
more numbers into the midfield, and they learned that important
Timbers drops off. It's just too many numbers in the
middle of the park. So Alex Hoddan starting to find
himself back out here on this right channel. Well, now
it's up to him to get involved on this right
hand side. See how he can get forward and start
connecting with the attacking front four. For the Sounders, Paul.

Speaker 14 (01:55:41):
Gets clips in side headed down by Vargas and then
cushion headed back to Reagan by Christian.

Speaker 8 (01:55:46):
Roldan breaks the line to Reagan. Good ball finds Brousa,
get behind to Jordan.

Speaker 39 (01:55:50):
Morris, slips through Pantabus, splashes his clearance off the backside
of zuper Rich, bounces through to Chara, fortunately for the Timbers,
and it comes abound to Ethel honestly plays the ball
down the line towards Anthony's gonna whip it in, tries
to find that spot between back to four and goalkeeper,
but gets cut out well by Nu who.

Speaker 3 (01:56:09):
Super Rich does all the right things there as Jordan
is clearing on goal because zuper Rich doesn't make that
recovery run and tries to hold his line. That's the
that's the risk you take with playing you know, two
center backs just like that that are big, tall and
not that fast. You can't really hold your line and
hope that it's gonna be off sides. And Zuperrich does
the right thing there tracks Jordan does just enough for

(01:56:30):
that keeper to get his foot on, albeit hitting his
own defender, and the sounders almost come out and get
lucky on that one.

Speaker 8 (01:56:37):
It sounds it certainly puts some my press on and
they understand that sermon. This rolls the ball to Charas
on his first minutes in MLS, his debut in the
center of the back four.

Speaker 14 (01:56:49):
Paratus tries to play the balls his left hand, so
I cut up. I rolled on, but finds the foot
of Bravo to a Vander so fluid in his movement,
ball goes in just as I say that bull goes
into his foot given away.

Speaker 8 (01:57:01):
They come to sounds.

Speaker 14 (01:57:02):
All the referee had the advantage. He put the west
whistle to his mouth much too early. Brian Schmetzer is
throwing his arms up in the air.

Speaker 8 (01:57:11):
Brad.

Speaker 14 (01:57:11):
That's the kind of thing where the referee just needs
to know the game just hold off for a second.
He makes the whistle and the sound is unable to
capitalize on the break exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:57:19):
The referee just let it play and then you can
always blow the whistle afterwards. The same reason why if
the linesman knows that it's outside, he lets the play develop,
just in case if it goes to var he missed something,
whether it's a deflection, anything that could be in the
attacking favor. And in that instance, the Sounders had a
three v three and Pedro finds himself with twenty twenty
five yards of freeway in front of him to take,

(01:57:41):
and the referee instantly blows his whistle. But that's a
case of maybe a game getting a little bit out
of the referee's breach. So he's thinking, I gotta call
these things a little bit tighter.

Speaker 14 (01:57:50):
To mc fagus, triws fold cut out, but Timbers here
they come with Laura just center of the pop rolls
it out, squeats and Muscare striding forward similar position to
his goal back in.

Speaker 8 (01:58:00):
Ugus goes to.

Speaker 14 (01:58:02):
Anthony cut out well by the Sounders, and then roth
Rock is looking for help from behind.

Speaker 8 (01:58:07):
Dalied on the ball for a split second close down
by It's a Vander. It's gonna be a throwing for
the Sounders.

Speaker 14 (01:58:13):
Sounders are gonna take their time as they roll across
with Nuhou. But today's match is proudly presented by Emerald
Queen Casino see BlackBerry Smoke live in the EQUC Events
Center on October twenty fourth.

Speaker 8 (01:58:27):
Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest goes.
Sounders Go Sounders.

Speaker 14 (01:58:34):
Indeed, here decision Day blumen Field Sounders lead one goal
to and ill against their arts rivals, the Portland Timbers,
and it's things stand right now Sounders are in third,
they retain third as RSL are tying their game.

Speaker 8 (01:58:48):
They would win Cascadia Cup if all results.

Speaker 14 (01:58:52):
Hold here, and then they have the chance to go
to Champions POCKETFT Champions Cup with a winner as well,
so or to play for for the Sounders. The only
question mark, I think question mark of course for the
Sounders and the coming weeks is who they will play
in that first round. Let's remind each other it's three games.

(01:59:12):
Top seed will get two home games if it goes
to that, if you're home away home.

Speaker 8 (01:59:18):
Sounders did that of course last year with Dallas. Sounds
won that first game went to Dallas lost. That game
came down to an all important third game.

Speaker 14 (01:59:27):
The Sound has won that game. Here comes Rise that
great poor By roll down. Finds Morris inside the eighteen
yard box. Can he find his feet? Isn't able to
get the ball under control? Cleared well by the Timbers.
Here comes new striding forward, well defended by Anthony's clips
it down the line picked up, cleaned up by Obert Vargas.

Speaker 8 (01:59:45):
Again just phisient in the middle of the park. Great
paul By roll done.

Speaker 14 (01:59:49):
It comes to us back inside the box, finds place
to find his feet. Just got caught in two minds
whether the pass or shoot.

Speaker 8 (01:59:57):
Eventually did nothing?

Speaker 14 (01:59:58):
Ross what goes across the Chara cuts him down. It's
gonna be a free kick for the Timba's deep on
their right hand side. But again Russneck inside the eighteen
yard books just was cool between two things.

Speaker 3 (02:00:08):
Bred Evans, Yeah, I think the first play is really
in this ball from Christian Roldan. He's hit a couple
of these tonight, and that ball from Albert is a
great it's a great pays and then Jordan just kind
of gets stuck underneath his feet there, and then the
second one he gets in good position and again just
get stuck underneath his feet. But the Portland timber's really
not allowing much for the Sounders inside the box as
they kind of swarm everyone within three or four guys

(02:00:31):
to put the Sounders under pressure. But the Sounder's starting
to find a little bit of a rhythm and open
this game up. And I think Schmtz will want more
from Pedro de la Vega. He'll want more from Rothrock
on the attacking end. It can't just all come from
Rusnak and Jordan at this point, and we've seen the
past five to six games it's come from Rothrock right,
whether it's a goal or an assist, and he'll need
more from Pedro de la Vega to get into this one.

Speaker 14 (02:00:54):
We're also seeing whether the sound Is have these leads
at home and have to be able to support the
second goal in and really put that game to bed.
You'd think a second goal for the Sounders would then
force Phil Neville to say, Okay, it's time, Matt. We
don't want to throw away a game, but we've got
a game coming up in midweek for our playing game
for the first round proper, you may look to pull
some of those top players out.

Speaker 3 (02:01:12):
Yeah, you know, but you also have your crowd here
that traveled and just just less than a thousand people
that if you start pulling players, they're going to be
upset at the head coach as well. I think there's
always something there to be had for either team in
these rivalry games, whether it's you're up three to nothing
and then someone comes back and makes it three to
three or a dramatic win, and so you know, yes,
if the Sounders go up to nothing, it is playoff time.

(02:01:33):
I think the fans will understand, and but the Sounders
at the end of the day have to get there.

Speaker 8 (02:01:38):
It comes rolled on strips as Chara.

Speaker 3 (02:01:39):
Chara comes back, wins the ball.

Speaker 8 (02:01:41):
Well, it makes times when we've seen that by Diego.

Speaker 14 (02:01:43):
Chara feeds the ball to Rodrigue's cross the halfway line,
strinding forward, finds the foot of Lebando down this near side.

Speaker 8 (02:01:49):
The left side's attacking the goal to out left the
north end. The Cavander. Just as you mentioned, effless is
the descriptions feels pressure goes down much too easy and
the referee just doesn't see the game. Good will see
it from here.

Speaker 14 (02:02:06):
What the vender was gonna do, He's gonna feel the
pressure go down. Now he's got a chance to whip
the ball in. And you know how dangerous he is
on set piece, Well.

Speaker 3 (02:02:13):
It starts before then Pedro de la Vega has to
get He's an outside midfielder and Evander's checking inside. He
has to double down on that and make life miserable
for Evander. But Pedro de la Vega decides to take
the cheap way out and get his rest now. And
now the Sounders are under pressure with a free kick,
and like you said, just like in the first half,
any type of pressure, he's all he's gonna do is
he's gonna stick his feet together, act like he's been

(02:02:35):
dragged down and go down. The referee he's gonna call
it every single time. I wouldn't be surprised if he
hits this one from here. We've seen him hit him
from distance before.

Speaker 14 (02:02:42):
There he is left side the wida of his you
do right foot, his flat delivery head he cleared by
a rough rock, makes down by the way back to.

Speaker 8 (02:02:53):
The goalkeepers. Dangerous boys from his team.

Speaker 14 (02:02:57):
It's a real bubble this if he comes Georgians in
behind in the eighteen yard box, tries to slide it
past Pantomus.

Speaker 8 (02:03:05):
Good save recovery from the goalkeeper. Sounders have had the chances,
unable to capitalize it.

Speaker 3 (02:03:12):
It looks like it may have been a foul in
the Sounders and they get away with one there. But
now it's not a foul and Jordan just applies just
enough pressure. Well weaight a ball by Pedro and all
of a sudden he finds himself inside and think he
goes between the legs. Well he is keeper makes a
good safe.

Speaker 14 (02:03:28):
To say hambags From my paces with Rothrock who got
frustrated by some defensive pressure Gibbs, I think he was
a vander a little nudge and demand obviously goes fall
into the ground.

Speaker 8 (02:03:40):
We've seen that many times before.

Speaker 14 (02:03:43):
You see if there'll be something nothing more the yellow
can I think Rothrock should just take a breath walk away.

Speaker 3 (02:03:51):
Here. Here's the difference is the referee with his dramatic
yellow cards, show like he's the main man of this one.
Just give him the yellow. He knows it's yellow, and
then the player does and have to get in your face.
You watch the replay here, it's a little bit afterwards
from Rothrock, which is fine, and then Evander dives and
Rothrock's got to know if he touches Evander, he's going
down right, Brazilian player, he knows what he's getting into.

(02:04:14):
Is always the second contact that gets the card on
any single foul.

Speaker 8 (02:04:18):
It's a learning lesson for Rothrocky was six and one half.
Doesn't here a little frustration on the challenge by f
Vanader think he goes.

Speaker 3 (02:04:25):
But for Rothrock it becomes an issue because now he'll
probably with Schmtzill think he's got to make a change.
Right if he gets a double yellow, he's gonna miss
the next game. He can't afford that. Rothrock's got to
be smarter.

Speaker 14 (02:04:34):
There he is Rusneck on his right hand side, bounswering
a low, flat headed clip on the nap post by
Bravo More.

Speaker 8 (02:04:42):
I think the clid his lines because all the way
back to Stephen Frey.

Speaker 14 (02:04:47):
Sound as FC sock is presented by a prominent Swedish
official healthcare partner. Sound as FC here comes to La
Vega inside the ehg of but every touch someone's able
to clean up the danger.

Speaker 8 (02:04:59):
Just his touch got away from it. Aloud.

Speaker 14 (02:05:02):
I think she's super Rich came across, cleared his line.
Jordan Morris was wide open in the middle of.

Speaker 8 (02:05:07):
Eighteen yard books.

Speaker 14 (02:05:10):
Frustration from de la Vega as he slaps his thigh.
He's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders, but
you need to find that second goal.

Speaker 3 (02:05:16):
Yeah, and that's an opportunity for dal le Vega. He's
gotta know and whether it's the legs getting tired once
again in the sixty sixty fifth minute. We've seen him before,
how though, right, he's trained for the last two weeks.
He's gotta be better on the ball in those situations.
You wear the number ten shirt. You gotta be able
to take a touch and smash that one on frame,
or at least find Jordan on that breakaway.

Speaker 14 (02:05:36):
Another corner kick for the Sounders inswinger, this time whipped
in towards the top of the six.

Speaker 8 (02:05:40):
There's Yamar again. He came off sermon it worked in
the first half one.

Speaker 14 (02:05:45):
His head goalkeeper goes down to his left, comfortable safe again.
Yamar is certainly the target of these Deliveries's got a
goal in Leak's Cup, his first goal tonight in MLS
and come to defending by knew who's on the yellow
card as well, So both the sound as players on
this left hand side.

Speaker 8 (02:06:07):
Are on yellow carters.

Speaker 14 (02:06:10):
Knew who I sul Brans Schmetz would like new who
on his end line to try and make the attacking
player of a Poland, but he gets away that it
is Della Vega. Now Wriggles free cuts pass a great
player who has found Jordan Morris. Can he be picked
up by Vargas? It does the referee again, Ken again.

Speaker 8 (02:06:29):
I think we're all frustrated. Bryance Schmetzer is just shaking
his head.

Speaker 14 (02:06:33):
I think he's disillusioned and just perplexed by the decision.

Speaker 8 (02:06:36):
As Phil Neville gets ready to make a couple of changes.

Speaker 14 (02:06:39):
But can the referee just needs to give himself a break,
give himself a couple of seconds, let the plague.

Speaker 8 (02:06:47):
Materialize up the field. The sound has had a chance
to go through again.

Speaker 3 (02:06:50):
I'll watch this one. It's a foul. He blows the
whistle right away instead of seeing what's gonna happen three
or four seconds afterwards, and the sounder has actually had
a three v one in that situation. And you understand
that Schmatz has got to be furious as is roll done.
Albert Rusnak wondering what are they seeing right now from
this referee.

Speaker 8 (02:07:09):
Well, the referee is hearing it from the crowd.

Speaker 14 (02:07:12):
I'm going to put mute on the on the microphone,
but we can imagine the crowd is shouting. If you've
been to Sounders games before, thirty plus thousand people here
at lumin Field, perfect Pacific Northwest night. As the rain
swirls around here. It's just a couple of steps away
from Elliott Bay. A couple of changes for Portland a

(02:07:35):
Yalla and Williamson on Shara and parade us off.

Speaker 8 (02:07:38):
So the middle of the park for Portland has changed
fresh legs in the the middle of that midfield hold
on gives them all the way cheaply. He finds a
mass scare. He's so efficient when his passing is rolled gone,
no foul given. He put his hands up in the air.
It rolled on. Rafe didn't give a foul. It comes rothworks,
seems to be a little bit careful. It gets nudged over.
It's on a yellow card from the well jumping up

(02:08:00):
and down. Frustrated by that call as well.

Speaker 14 (02:08:03):
So both coaches bred will probably go into the locker
room at the end of the game have a glass
of red white and probably had the similar feeling.

Speaker 8 (02:08:11):
For the referee.

Speaker 3 (02:08:11):
Yeah, I think so. And what's weird it start it off? Okay,
see called the ticki tac vowalves in the beginning of
this one. And then it seems like it's just gotten
away from him just a little bit. And it almost
started with that Paul rothrock shove.

Speaker 8 (02:08:26):
It's cuder done and gets in my ear.

Speaker 14 (02:08:28):
Vancouver got one nil against RSL, so good for Vancouver,
good for the Sounders. Our seller sitting in fourth position
right now, Sounders in third. I don't think we'll change
the course and the Sounders win. But he's a little
breathing rumors. Vargas has it. His right hand side been
influential and efficient in this game so far, coming off

(02:08:51):
that Captain Mexico nationalty ball comes in, goes over the
end line, another corner kick for the Sounders.

Speaker 8 (02:08:57):
The Sounders are knocking, need to find that second goal.

Speaker 3 (02:09:01):
Well, that's good moving from the Sounders. That's about fifteen
passes of interchange just on this right hand side, and
when once Obt Vargas comes out wide, it really overloads
everything for the Sounders and Portland has to at least
send numbers, but those are guys that typically don't defend
on the wing, so the Sounder is in a real
attacking advantage on this right hand side.

Speaker 14 (02:09:21):
Two arms up in the air by Resident, whipped in
up towards Jackson Reagan headed up in the air by
Morris Clid not well by Bravo, goes to yame on
top of the box, tries to slide and looking asking
for the handball, nothing given. Evander picks it up, hustled
and harried by Vargas. Referee calls a foul that's gonna
be a fre freaking and the yellow.

Speaker 4 (02:09:42):
Card it was.

Speaker 8 (02:09:43):
Vargas is stod in front of the ball.

Speaker 14 (02:09:45):
Locked it out fortunately for Sounders midfield player and no
option for the referee. Then the yellow card and for
the Sounder is now They've got a number of players
sitting on that yellow card.

Speaker 8 (02:09:58):
Knew who ross drug now Fogus well timbers. Nobody's picked up.

Speaker 14 (02:10:04):
A yellow cards so far as they build out the
back with handsomeess and that goal in yellow awkwardly clears
the ball with his right foot fine the head of
rolled on fines Rolfer gets charged into it by.

Speaker 8 (02:10:16):
Well scart, I'm gonna let you can take that and
kind of outline.

Speaker 3 (02:10:19):
Exactly what just once again the referee immediately blowing the
whistle instead letting the play develop. Christian wold On there
cuts through two defenders right as that whistle's being blown
and he's clear down the line. I'm not sure why
the ref is blowing everything so quick. It's got to
drive the Sounders players on the field nuts. But I
think if you're a veteran player, you gotta at this point,
you gotta calm everything down and you just got to say, hey,

(02:10:40):
this is what's gonna happen. Let's play within ourselves, keep
knocking the ball around. You cannot lose your minds at
this point because that's what Portland wants you to do.

Speaker 8 (02:10:49):
Fast paced game.

Speaker 14 (02:10:50):
Here at lum midfield nine fifty am. The sound is
leading one goal Tanil here in the sixty sixth minute,
and this sport is presented by Emerald Queen Casino. The
Sounder is faithful or hearing their drove.

Speaker 8 (02:11:03):
Celebrated Roger Levet as he raised the flag. Was celebrated
as the alumni of the match and the fiftieth anniversary
for the Sounders.

Speaker 14 (02:11:13):
He Sounds six games unbeaten, one tie against San Jose,
five wins, five clean sheets in those wins, it come again.
He comes Marris right hand side of the box, looks
to go back as knocking down the line, giving.

Speaker 8 (02:11:29):
Away good defending by Bravo, looks forward more gets nudged
about by Yama.

Speaker 14 (02:11:35):
Has had a extremely solid game again as Jackson Reagan
cuts the line, finds roll rolled on now off the
foot of an Alex Rowl got back to his brother,
who've got loose on that touch good defended by Bravo,
picked up by Yama, goes inside to Alex Roldan de
la Vega, gets caught again, just looks sluggish. Bry Schmetzer

(02:11:56):
thinks about ready to make a change there as Evander
comes flying forward, plays the ball into Anthony top of
the bucks.

Speaker 8 (02:12:02):
They'll shimmy around. Raygan finds the back of the net
and there's Neville. And that's what the Poland Timas can do.

Speaker 14 (02:12:09):
They could win the pole in the middle of the field,
and they can break with speed and they score the
goal against the run of play.

Speaker 8 (02:12:17):
Here in the sixty eighth minute, sound has won Poland.

Speaker 3 (02:12:19):
One and it's just shocking from Pedro de la Vega there.
He's gotta know better as a midfielder, when you tuck in,
you cannot lose the ball. And for how good he
is and how strong he is, he gave that ball
up so cheaply. And then, like we said, and Antony
has not been good tonight, right, but in that occasion
he slows himself down a little bit more than usual.
So Pedro loses the ball here Rodriguez within two passes,

(02:12:40):
it's Evander that finds Antony and all it is there's
a little touch inside outside back on his right foot
and that's just fly by defending from new Who and
Jackson Reagan. That's not gonna cut it in the playoffs
to just fly by and hope that you win the
ball and have covered both those three. Basically, it's three
in the back there. It's Jackson knew Who and Yamar.

(02:13:02):
You gotta know that Alex rolled On is up the
field if you leave your feet now it's three against
two for the Portland Timbers and not sloppy defending, and
you've given something away for the Sounders there.

Speaker 14 (02:13:14):
Give it a life flie for Poland now as they
tied it up here de la Vega, great knife from
sept Faber area, has a little.

Speaker 8 (02:13:21):
Bit of magic in his foot. Here he goes, can
he make it up.

Speaker 14 (02:13:24):
Drives it gets saved by the goalkeeper. That was the
play we want to see from Petro de la Vega.
It comes Vargas, zue Rich clears the Lions and again
Vargas is frustration or that's a yellow car, that's a red.
The referee has just turned this game upside down. It
was frustration from Caugas. The referee has shown.

Speaker 3 (02:13:51):
What is it for though, because he's upset with a call.

Speaker 8 (02:13:54):
And there's a yellow car fifth Grusnak. He just has
his lost control. That's control.

Speaker 3 (02:14:00):
He's intimidated. That's unfortunate to see from an MLS referee
at this level and this big of occasion on this game.

Speaker 27 (02:14:08):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (02:14:11):
Down if you give me anymore, it's another yellow card.
But instead he does the wrong thing and immediately gives
him a yellow.

Speaker 8 (02:14:20):
Well, we're gonna take it breath here.

Speaker 3 (02:14:22):
That's shocking. So Olbed wins the header here, puts some pressure.
It's it's a shove, it's a foul. Old Bed doesn't
think so and just shakes his hand in the air
out of frustration. That's not worthy of a yellow card,
that's for sure.

Speaker 8 (02:14:36):
It's just frustration.

Speaker 3 (02:14:37):
He doesn't approach the referee, he doesn't hit anyone. Yeah,
that's shocking from the referee.

Speaker 8 (02:14:44):
Yeah, I hope there's a better word than that. And
now the game has turned upside down in the space
of a couple of minutes, pulling fun. There he coolies
and now they're a man up.

Speaker 14 (02:14:54):
We've seen this before, of course, Jackson Reagan go red
conscious a couple of years ago. Change the face of
that game. When the sounds are upening too nil, you
eat to two? It comes, Hold on it sounds gonna
have to defend Ryan Schmitzer.

Speaker 8 (02:15:14):
You have to make some changes.

Speaker 3 (02:15:16):
The Sounders will have to sit into a low block
here and push Albert as a number another number six,
and they'll have to play counter attacking soccer.

Speaker 14 (02:15:24):
Now, it's been a big week for var Guest Good
is first cap to the Mexican senior national team and
then speak to a bigger emotion. Shift all goes in behind,
he comes Morris, can.

Speaker 8 (02:15:38):
He do something? Goalkeeper comes out in no man's land.

Speaker 14 (02:15:41):
Choice to chip it over as a goal get he
heads it away, could say eventually slice clear.

Speaker 8 (02:15:46):
It's gonna be a throne for the Sounders.

Speaker 3 (02:15:48):
That's where the chances are gonna have to come from.
Like we said, it's gonna be quick interchange, and then
Jordan's gonna have to stay high and become that pivot
and win.

Speaker 8 (02:15:55):
It's on.

Speaker 3 (02:15:56):
Play it forward.

Speaker 8 (02:15:58):
Marris is gonna switch a good play.

Speaker 14 (02:16:00):
Drives a ball from this near sight to the far
side to Rothrock, and he beat a man here in
must scare a little back heeled towards new drives towards
the end like ball goes into Rosnack, bounce around and
if Dela Vega wasn't able to find, the ball rolls
into the goalkeeper's hands.

Speaker 8 (02:16:17):
The sound is now going to have to take advantage
of these chances. A man down tied.

Speaker 14 (02:16:22):
Up here, Dela Vega just struggles to get back. It
looks a little leggy right now, a little fatigued. Read
Baker White and get some instructions from Brian Schmetz.

Speaker 8 (02:16:34):
On the near side. We'll see if wea Dela Vega.

Speaker 14 (02:16:36):
We've seen this one before, of course, Read Baker White
and we'll go on that left hand side. Roth Rock
may shift to this right hand side.

Speaker 22 (02:16:41):
But of course.

Speaker 14 (02:16:44):
The sounder is gonna have to accommodate being down a man.
Right now, Rosnack is playing alongside Christian rolled On. It's
gonna be a four four one as it stands right now. Ye,
he gets his instructions now for many rose for corner
kicks and set pieces.

Speaker 8 (02:17:06):
Referee again, just no need, no foul. You're going to
read the plays. The fans are frustrated, the players are fresh,
and we're frustrated.

Speaker 3 (02:17:17):
We've been through enough of these games. You know that
a lot of these referees aren't up to the task.
And it's the same old story. I mean, since I
started in two thousand and seven, we have these same
exact conversations after the game. The problem is is that
no former players that have a pulse on the game
and understand what it means to be a player become referees.
And that you know, obviously it's an issue because a

(02:17:38):
lot of these guys don't understand the tempo of the
game and what it means to be a player. Maybe
they played at a lower level, but there's something about
understanding what's going on really deeply inside of a game
that fortunately we get to talk about now. But a
lot of these referees just don't understand and they let
it get away from them and then they think that
it's an attack on them personally. No, it's a rivalry game.

(02:17:58):
You're upset at what's going on on the field, You're
not Yeah, you're upset at the call, But it doesn't
mean I don't like you. You don't have to thrash
out at me and give me a yellow cart because
you think it's a personal attack on you.

Speaker 8 (02:18:11):
There's the lessons I teach my children, you know. It's like,
look at the bigger pitch.

Speaker 14 (02:18:17):
The ball goes in headed down, cleared by Alex Roldan,
picked up on the far side by Moscarrat a couple
of yards in the end lines to whip it in
with his right foot towards Boora headed.

Speaker 8 (02:18:27):
Over the top goal kick.

Speaker 14 (02:18:28):
Sounders here in the seventy fourth minute, Sounders one Portland
one Sports Radio nine fifty kg AM EQC pitch lumin
Field or.

Speaker 8 (02:18:37):
To play for on this decision day?

Speaker 14 (02:18:40):
It stands right now, Sounders, We'll stay in third. Let's
get you some of those results. Vancouver white Caps leading
at Rail Salt Lake. Who's sit in fourth position one
nil Minnesota United one, Saint Louis City nil LAFC one,
San Jose one use some dynamo one.

Speaker 8 (02:18:58):
La Galaxy nil Dallas two sport in case Neil, that
means nothing us in one Colorado one. Get some of
those life standings as it goes. Of course, Miami.

Speaker 14 (02:19:12):
Win today six to two. S He came on the field,
I think it was tied up, got a hat trick,
a handful.

Speaker 8 (02:19:19):
Of minutes, like men against boys.

Speaker 14 (02:19:21):
It comes to Poland now towards the end line, cut
out well by roth Rock over the end line though
for a Portland corner kick, fifteen minutes of regular time
to go sound is enough to stand strong and rely
on some of the athleticism they have, and then can
they get a couple of set pieces.

Speaker 8 (02:19:39):
We've already seen it once before, the Brouzneck to Gamar.

Speaker 3 (02:19:44):
It's a big different from the East Coast games. A
lot of goals on the East Confest Coast Conference today
and everything pretty tight around this West Coast conference.

Speaker 8 (02:19:52):
Comes to corner kick the band with his right foot fast.

Speaker 14 (02:19:56):
Side there right right below the Paul faithfuls Brada mentioned
the players and people strong or comes in heading cleared
by Jack's rag good head.

Speaker 8 (02:20:05):
They clear their lines, picked.

Speaker 14 (02:20:08):
Up by Mosquerra right inside, goes in short to Ayala,
Evander's left foot down to his left, good save by Fright,
bats to Moore on the rebound, ball bounces up, flips
away by Morris.

Speaker 8 (02:20:19):
Foal given on Morris. This other defense.

Speaker 14 (02:20:24):
The players will appreciate that core, but again damage has
been done already by the referee.

Speaker 3 (02:20:30):
It's a good move by Portland here in Evander it
looks too easy. He just looks like he's skating sometimes
and hitting in his body. Boom, and he hits the
ball so purely left and right foot that one actually
comes off the post there. The Sounders gotta know they're
gonna be under pressure here because Portland's gonna push and
might as well playing a man up away from home
and try to get a result.

Speaker 14 (02:20:49):
Brian Schmidt sit down the low, just a couple of
steps away from Michelle of Love pictures orchestrating, organizing.

Speaker 8 (02:20:55):
Sounders, a good job so far.

Speaker 14 (02:20:57):
Taking a breath after the obd Vargas red card again
both up here with red and I believe it was
an opportunity of the referee just to pull obed to him,
turn to calm down, maybe give him one final warning,
but nope, he gave the yellow card.

Speaker 8 (02:21:14):
Would have given a soft yellow card before that.

Speaker 14 (02:21:17):
He dug himself. Ahole got the red card. Sound as
a downer man. Tied up one to one here in
the seventy seventh minute.

Speaker 8 (02:21:27):
Don't leave us.

Speaker 14 (02:21:27):
At the end of the game, Jackson felt, we'll be
back to break it all down. That was Williamson, the
second half substitution for the Timbers.

Speaker 22 (02:21:38):
Well.

Speaker 8 (02:21:38):
This copyrighted audio cast of Major League Soccer may not
be retransmitted.

Speaker 14 (02:21:41):
Reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express When the consent of
Major League Soccer ll score Anthony ball at his foot,
goes into a band and no real pressure from the Sounders,
they get ten men behind the ball.

Speaker 8 (02:21:57):
August rolled out to this near side to Rodriguez, who's
been quiet so far in this game.

Speaker 14 (02:22:01):
Sixteen goals on his season, Newcomer of the Year candidate
for sure for MLS. He's Williams, who's about me cl
injury last year the game, our goalscorer has the ball
that it's full challenged by Rodriguez gets bungled down. He's
frustrated by yellow it's the same exact thing. The fans

(02:22:22):
are thinking exactly what you.

Speaker 3 (02:22:23):
Are, right ed it. It's the same thing. The reactions
exactly the same. Complaining.

Speaker 8 (02:22:29):
I just don't understand the inconsistency.

Speaker 3 (02:22:31):
That's it, right, We've been eighteen years.

Speaker 8 (02:22:33):
We should understand, we've been there before. There's nothing. If
you want to made bad calls, make bad calls, but
at least be consistent with it well, Sound as Fans.

Speaker 14 (02:22:42):
If Sound as f C scores anytime after the eighteenth
minute during a home match, you'll have the chance to
win free lasik surgery from Sharp Vision Modern Lacy can lens.
Sign up today, it sounds FC dot com, slash laser
focus or goeslong bounces through challenge Nika.

Speaker 8 (02:23:00):
It's just soft.

Speaker 14 (02:23:01):
The Sam zuper Rich, who's a center back, flops to
the ground, wins his foul.

Speaker 8 (02:23:06):
Phil never will be happy. Sounder's players and fans house
up here in the.

Speaker 14 (02:23:10):
Booth or not and they come try to be all
of that given away again by Ayala. This time Bat
finds Rosnak can't quite get away to Mayala. Pressure by
rolled On picks it up well, roth Rock has it,
rolls it out to Rosnak, turns away from pressure, goes
square to Rothrock twenty yards from Gold rolls it out
to this near side the right to read Baker Whiteing
cuts it into his left foot, just gives it away.

(02:23:31):
It comes off read from the clearance of Williamson diving
headed I Rothrock keeps the ball, finds Gamut. Sounders are
gonna come again. They've responded well the face of adversity,
give up the goal cheaply.

Speaker 8 (02:23:47):
Responding well.

Speaker 14 (02:23:48):
Here comes Rosnick flicks all the outside of his foot
so the breen Baker white He whips it in towards
the backsticks of Jordan Morris hits it.

Speaker 8 (02:23:55):
Down to Rosnak. Can't bring it under control a couple
of times in this game. Has had it. Here comes
rolled on, bolds it out to his brother. Alex Reid
is available to.

Speaker 14 (02:24:02):
His right, Ghost to read it, whips it in, can't
quite find Jordan Murray's put us up into the air.
Good defending by Claudia Bravo chest it into the goalkeeper.

Speaker 8 (02:24:13):
Man's appreciating the effort for the.

Speaker 3 (02:24:15):
Sound is that's well done. From the sounders. They're good
build up, good sustained pressure and sometimes it's difficult to
go away from home. Yes, you're a man up and
to be able to play that you want you want
to play. You're playing against a team now that is
at home and they feel like they've been hard done
by a couple of calls, and now the Sounders are pushing.

Speaker 8 (02:24:31):
Why not.

Speaker 3 (02:24:31):
They've had two weeks off and they're gonna make a
goal of it. Nothing changes on the defensive end, and
really nothing changes on the offensive end. You're always gonna
sit with Christians sitting back. You might lose one number,
but I think the Sounders are as still something in
this one for them if they keep their head down
and push.

Speaker 14 (02:24:51):
In my piece, see the RSL keen they dunning that
is tied it up against Vancouver. So sound is still
sitting above RSL. There is it kind of a the
match up between RSLs Cincinnati and the Sounders for CCC
Sound they got their win at Philadelphia, knock them out.
Our Sounders need to retain their position above RSL. Ll

(02:25:13):
goes in the foot of Alex Rohodar can't quite bring
under control. Sound Doers have a good pressure now even
with ten men, yeam are knocks towards Repay Kawai.

Speaker 8 (02:25:23):
It just comes out of bounds. It's another change ready for.

Speaker 3 (02:25:30):
Portland.

Speaker 14 (02:25:31):
It's gonna be Mason Toy's gonna come on the field.
Three pay Maura is gonna come off.

Speaker 8 (02:25:36):
So wait for like switch. I'm sure if Laura is
gonna be too happy with that. Playing against ten men Sounders, I'd.

Speaker 14 (02:25:44):
Love to get a couple more goals, I'm sure, But
a big body of Toy now is gonna play up
against Jackson, Reagan and game Mark. So let's get you
some live standing Sounders in third with fifty seven points,
salt Lake with fifty seven points, sitting forth to tying
up against Vancouver, Houston in fifth, Colorado now in sixth.

(02:26:05):
So the way that stands roy now, the Sounders will
play Colorado, Minnesota shift to seventh, Vancouver in eighth.

Speaker 8 (02:26:13):
After giving up that equalins in goal. Portland will still
sit in ninth.

Speaker 14 (02:26:17):
The interesting thing is there's a playoff games Standsdroyd now
between Vancouver and Portland. But Vancouver they're not able to
play at Hope. So the war comes in the Sounders
to Morris. They'd have to Russneck blocked out well by Sermon.
It comes new who just wide with his right foot.

Speaker 36 (02:26:34):
Almost got an absolute banger off the right foot of new.

Speaker 14 (02:26:39):
Who just swung his leg against it. Good connection, ghost
wide goal kick. The fans brad Evans appreciate that.

Speaker 3 (02:26:48):
Wow, and that's just great build up from the Sounders
doing all the right things. And knew who pushing forward
that would have been the goal of his life. Look
at this one. It shapes inside just is about a
half a yard wide of that left hand posts, and
I guess knew he might have to check if he's
actually left footed or right footed. That's the best track
I've seen. Knew who hit with either of his feet,

(02:27:08):
And in my career watching him.

Speaker 14 (02:27:11):
Well, sometimes the players are you at least expected will
step step up in big time moments.

Speaker 8 (02:27:17):
We'll manage goes.

Speaker 14 (02:27:18):
Big time players do step up in those big time
moments and Sounders find a little bit of magic. Now
some of the big time players until Nevil's mentioned, but
his dps need to step up when they need it.
It was Anthony got the equalizing goal. It comes Moscara
now on that right hand side, likes to come forward,
of course, scored that goal in late August to win

(02:27:40):
that game down in Poland one nil. What comes out
to Rodriguez available is brav down the left hand side
whips it in arms the chest.

Speaker 8 (02:27:50):
Of rolled on players. The ball does read Baker Whiting well.

Speaker 14 (02:27:54):
The Sounders have had good successive decision Day ten two
and three overall nine zero and two at home, so
I haven't lost any game they've played on decision day
here not lost on decision day since twenty twelve, so
the record speaks for itself. The Sounders need to grind
this one out. Eighty fourth minute Sounders one Portland one.

(02:28:17):
The score up is presented by prominent Swedish Sounders get
ten men behind the ball has been celebrated many times
in the fiftieth anniversary, is relentless since seventy four.

Speaker 8 (02:28:29):
Your seat Sounders are heading into the AUDI twenty twenty
four MLS Cup playoffs.

Speaker 14 (02:28:33):
Tonight's decision Day. We'll determine our seeding for playoffs and
who we will be playing. We'll be playing at home
for a round one match one. Tickets for this match
will go on sale on October twenty first grab your
tickets at Sounders fc dot com. Backslash tickets felt given
by the referee again, Yamar.

Speaker 8 (02:28:53):
They should expect based on a consistency of these decisions.
Is not happy.

Speaker 3 (02:28:57):
Yeah, it's a silly decision by Gamar goal playing that's
tied going away from goal. If anything, he takes two
or three touches towards the sideline instead. Yeamark thinks he
has to win the ball there. And now Evander in
the same position as he was in the early on
in this in this second half, and he'll look to
swing in a better ball on this one with the
Sounders with nine players behind the ball, the matchups are

(02:29:20):
there for the Sounders.

Speaker 8 (02:29:23):
Evander seeing him in this position before.

Speaker 14 (02:29:28):
Thirty yards or so from the end line, just inside
the corner of the eighteen yard box left hand side,
this near side, it's gonna be his right foot. Sound
is sitting about two or three yards inside the eighteen
yard box holding their line.

Speaker 8 (02:29:41):
Fry on his goal line. You know where this ball's
gonna go. It's gutsally gonna get shot right on target.
Fizzits it in, popped up in the air by Fry.
Crowd appreciate that.

Speaker 14 (02:29:52):
Exephen Frying eleven clean sheets on his ear, thirteen clean
sheets for the Sounders. Two of those clean sheets of
course with Andrew Thomas, are we going to throw it
down to Michelle.

Speaker 7 (02:30:07):
We are making a substitution here. In a few minutes.

Speaker 6 (02:30:10):
At the next break, we will see Georgie coming in
for Paul Rothrock and assistant coach Freddy Warez is telling
me that the thought here is to have some one
v one hope with Georgie using his speed on that side.

Speaker 14 (02:30:23):
Thanks Michelle, well, of course, Georgie's first goal just a
couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 8 (02:30:30):
Nanks Vancouver. There's roth Rock gets a standing evation. He deserves.
Brilliant season for Paul Rothrock, Real breakout year four. The
Seattle native family, of course embedded in the community, should
be proud of his efforts. And it's been nothing more less.

Speaker 14 (02:30:47):
Than one hundred percent on any time it's been on
the field. It's his five goals on the ear and
of course to contributed to this run.

Speaker 8 (02:30:56):
The sound has a bin on meeting in six. Right now,
we'll go square into Morris.

Speaker 14 (02:31:02):
Can he find a bit of magic ad to his
thirteen goals. We'll get sprayed loose on the pass out
to read ba kerwahis. He just skips on this slick surface.

Speaker 8 (02:31:10):
The ring continues to swirl around. It's gonna be a
throwing four, pauling to get it in quickly.

Speaker 3 (02:31:15):
I think Paul roth Rock has obviously had a great
season the first season. Now it's about can he do
it consistently every single game to the best of his abilities.
And that'll be the challenge for him too, Like we said,
recreating his game when things start to get stagnant for him,
and he'll probably want to have that first half back
with a couple of arrand touches that weren't really characteristic

(02:31:36):
of his normal game. We'll see what Georgia can do
coming into this one. It's a great shout from Freddie.
It's if you can get him isolated. It's on tonight
still for the Sounders. With ten minutes left, is.

Speaker 14 (02:31:45):
Rebag Kawaisia inside the h and Yobos cuts it back.
Oh yeah, the man available just hit it too long
and it comes Rodriguez in transition. Yama backpedally, Anthony available
given away by Evander holding his face. Referee gives nothing.
Man is looking for the foul again this time just
find that man. Georgie and he show a bit of magic.

(02:32:05):
Crowd love it on their feet. Little stepover goes back
double team was Georgie. I think they've seen those clips
we talked about teams reading these players now double team,
triple team on Georgie Paul goes into Axwold on can
they try to find the ball inside the box Rosneck,
Morris and Rebaker White and hovering inside the eighteen there

(02:32:26):
is George cuts it back and he find it delivery,
goes towards the end like whips it in, bounces through
to the goalkeeper, goes down smothers it up here.

Speaker 8 (02:32:35):
In the eighty eight minute Sounders one, Portland one.

Speaker 14 (02:32:39):
Don't leave us at the end of the game. Remember
much it feels like a playoff game. It is very
much a regular season gave decision day. Players will be
out throwing out.

Speaker 8 (02:32:50):
Carnations and traditional carnations.

Speaker 14 (02:32:52):
Of course, we've seen it throughout this fifty anniversary with
the rebranding of the Sounders, carnation being a big part
of that, and the Sounders find a way to get
a goal. We're going to continue to look at the
results and the conference standings. Unfortunately for the Sounders, O

(02:33:14):
ourself just scored, so they were one nil down. They've
got two goals. Now they jump above the Sounders. Let
us Conker CAF Champions Cup implications, of course, has implications.

Speaker 8 (02:33:26):
For the playoffs.

Speaker 14 (02:33:29):
Sounders right now, where we sat in fourth, they will
have home field advantage. They'll be stuck playing against Houston
right now Houston sitting in fifth position with fifty four
points Colorado and sixth Minnesota in seven. But we've seen
a lot of things change and course in these final minutes,
and the Sounders find some final bit of magic. Whereasn

(02:33:51):
that goes from center far side the left to read
Baker Whiting. Certainly you'd never know that the Sounds are
playing with ten men, continue to press playing the front foot.
That comes new a chance from twenty five yards with
his right foot just a foot or so, Why is
it curled away from that post?

Speaker 8 (02:34:13):
All goes in behind?

Speaker 14 (02:34:14):
Good play by Nude slots past Mosqueira comes up to
flex up in the air right into the hands of.

Speaker 8 (02:34:22):
Pantemus in the Portland goal.

Speaker 14 (02:34:24):
And sometimes you know the knight's not gonna be your
night when those deflections go straight into the goalkeeper's heads.

Speaker 3 (02:34:29):
Yeah, sometimes every ball goes your way. In the first
Habo did a couple of little deflections bouncing balls with
the Sounders way.

Speaker 8 (02:34:36):
All goes in behind, is gonna skip through seven. Fry
reads it well. Certain Ral Rudiez priming himself.

Speaker 22 (02:34:43):
To come on.

Speaker 8 (02:34:44):
Is the stage set for Raoul?

Speaker 14 (02:34:47):
Certainly feel the Bryan Schwetzers putting him on the field,
allow the crowd to give him the ovation he deserves.

Speaker 8 (02:34:54):
Will it be the last regular season game for Raoul?
Here at lumin Field, in front of the sound faithful.

Speaker 14 (02:35:02):
Sitting eighty six goals, His Sounders Korean number one Jordan
Morris is sitting three behind. We expect Jordan over the
next coming years would surpass that four minutes of about
a time Bor goes into Rosnek into Jordan Marri.

Speaker 8 (02:35:17):
Isn't able to find it. What's next?

Speaker 14 (02:35:19):
I'll smopping and around the eighteen yard box tonight isn't
able to connect and a couple of chances as Evander
comes flint to tin legs of Alex rolled On rolls
it out to this near sighter Rodriguez right in front
of philm Nebels standing outside his inside his technical area,
arms folded, probably please with the response that his team
has made rush me as we please as well. Down

(02:35:41):
a man open Vargas red card this some minutes so
after giving.

Speaker 8 (02:35:45):
Up that goal, Sounds have responded well, but here come
Portland with a vander Bor goes in behind with clearance
by News slides down, Bentley.

Speaker 14 (02:35:54):
Almost chopped it off to off his other leg goes
up and over cornerkick for Portland.

Speaker 3 (02:35:58):
This is ral he wants that send off in a
regular season game, but this one winding down, Schwetz wants
to keep the same ten guys on the field right
now to defend this corner kick. And you just saw
time doesn't run out. Probably see him in the playoffs,
but it's always nice for a regular season game to
get that, to get that little send off.

Speaker 8 (02:36:17):
New who's on the ground looks like maybe a bit
of cram that's gonna get pulled up by the referee
of all people. So buck on his feet. Sounders have
to defend this corner kicks would be a Fander on
their right hand.

Speaker 14 (02:36:32):
Side, just below the traveling Faithful for the Timbers loud
in the top and left corner. As we look at it,
but here comes about and this time he goes short
to Anthony goalscorer comes back to Evander, goes inside to
Musqueira to the last man Williamson, who's going to roll
it in no real pressure from the sound as they
hold the top of their box.

Speaker 8 (02:36:53):
It's a zuprich now.

Speaker 14 (02:36:54):
To Rodriguez, been defending by Reagan as he clips it
down the like you get there headed by Eric. Miller's
on the field on this left hand side, and now
Raoul's gonna have a chance. And I'd look down and
any found that's not sitting down is gonna stand up.

Speaker 8 (02:37:16):
The flag's waving behind the south end goal.

Speaker 14 (02:37:22):
Raoul comes on and gets the evasion he so richly deserves.

Speaker 3 (02:37:28):
Knew who goes off.

Speaker 14 (02:37:31):
I'm sure read Baker Whiting has understood that his job
is probably to be a left back.

Speaker 8 (02:37:35):
I'm not quite sure if that message not to read,
because right now.

Speaker 14 (02:37:41):
Anthony is wide open on that left hand side, unless
Bryan sch Betz is saying, hey, go for it.

Speaker 8 (02:37:45):
Nothing to lose here other than the loss to pauland
which of course would stink. You haven't won here since
twenty seventeen.

Speaker 14 (02:37:55):
We kind of just chugged back to the left hand side.
I think anyone's truling to explain to me he's playing
left back now. He still hasn't got the message. Now
he's starting to get it as he comes back minute
to go here at Luminfield, Sounders one Portland one decision day.
Sounders currently sitting in fourth position. The way that things stand,
they'll be playing Houston in the first round of the playoffs.

(02:38:18):
Games will be announced in the next couple of days.
Sounders will host the first game, then travel to Houston
for the second. If a third game is needed there
back here at lumen Fields, give about.

Speaker 8 (02:38:29):
A two week window to get those games done.

Speaker 14 (02:38:34):
The war goes up as rolls on, pops it up
into the air and get here in the final thirty seconds.
Porland not moved off that bottom spot in the playoffs,
but all goes into Anthony towards the end line.

Speaker 8 (02:38:47):
Closed down by Jackson. Reagan disappointed with the way they
gave up that goal. Keep flying in on Manthony.

Speaker 14 (02:38:54):
He was able to skip boy in with ease and
roll it in the bottom corner of the goal, but
n comes Rodriguez rolls it out of bounds. He hit
the final second. Referee is looking at his watch. That's
a yellow card for Rodriguez.

Speaker 8 (02:39:06):
That's an SGB yellow card, and a fell is called
SGB trial. Lawyers are here to help.

Speaker 14 (02:39:11):
There's an SGB dash law dot com referee couldn't help
himself out to give at least one yellow card to Portland.
Comes to row Up, nudged off by the Sounders. Fell
hope not given. Here comes Yemar.

Speaker 8 (02:39:26):
Can the Sounders get one final push? Here comes rolled
On across half way line, striding forward, little step up.
It goes to re given away. Referee's still not giving up.

Speaker 14 (02:39:38):
Thirty seconds past the four minutes, there comes to Portland
in transition with my scare.

Speaker 8 (02:39:44):
Flicks it up towards Anthony. Sounds need to get back
in defense.

Speaker 14 (02:39:47):
Goes to this left hand side to Rodriguez inside the
eight and yard box. He goes trapped by by Alex
Roldan deflected off. Rolled on goes over the corner flag.
Is actually a goal kick he's given. Unbelievable. He's two
yards away.

Speaker 8 (02:40:00):
Do you not see that ball? Kind of like snick
off that defender. It's a corner kick. We'll take it.

Speaker 40 (02:40:08):
And there's a referees whistle. No, he's stopping them for
a yellow car for Phil Neville for Phil. So the
Sounders will get just a little bit more time on
this one. We're a minute past the potentially get forward.

Speaker 8 (02:40:22):
It's going to be a delayed game, of course, so
the referee would have to think that because of that.
Now he's got to add on time.

Speaker 14 (02:40:29):
And Fry has it as a goalkicks, he'll launch his
forward and the Sounders get some bit of magic.

Speaker 8 (02:40:33):
Of course, it blows his whistle. There's the end of
the game.

Speaker 14 (02:40:36):
Fans show their frustration with the referee, not against the players.
The players now with Rusnak equally frustrated. I think all
the players realize that the referee had an absolute night
in there. But for the Sounders the regular season comes
to an end. But we all should look back on
this regular season with pride. Sounders got off to a

(02:40:59):
slow star but really came into their own. They used
to push all the way up to third spot and
fortunately from the result tonight one to one, they go
back to fourth position. Stands right now Houston sit in fifth.
So find out the dates as it stands. It will
continue to look at the scores as they come up.

(02:41:20):
Sounders game is over. It was Yamar in the first
half got the Sounders off to a one goal lead
and there was Anthony in transition.

Speaker 8 (02:41:30):
Got the equalizing goal to make it one to one.

Speaker 14 (02:41:32):
D Your final thoughts of this game and then just
the season in general as we go into the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (02:41:37):
Yeah, look, tonight, I think the Sounders had something there
for them, and like we said in the first half
that they could put away a second one, this game
was probably over with and the inability to do that
and recognize that, and then it was a silly a
couple of silly yellow cards. The Sounders weren't able to
really imprint their their attacking finish on this one, like
you had said, and that was kind of indicative for

(02:41:57):
the first part of the Sounders season this year. But
the Sounders are able to write the ship and get
into good form halfway through the season. There was no
better team and now heading to the playoffs, they gotta
feel confident. Although now you miss an Obed Vargas who
has been such a pivotal player for you. Luckily JP's
been back in the fold. And now you'll face your
first round this coming weekend, maybe into early next week,

(02:42:19):
and then we'll see what the Sounders can do. And
anytime you're in this position, the season's done right and
now you really shift your focus to playoffs soccer. No
matter what happened tonight, Yes, yes, still haven't won since
twenty seventeen. We'll have to maybe wait until twenty twenty five,
which is bizarre and crazy to think, but still something
there for the Sounders to get into the playoffs and

(02:42:40):
make a run for sure, and they'll have to feel
confident with the way that they finished the season.

Speaker 8 (02:42:44):
Well. Frustration for the Sounders.

Speaker 14 (02:42:46):
They didn't lose the game, for sure, but with that
time Portland Timbers when Kowscadia Cup this year, yep, we're.

Speaker 8 (02:42:54):
Gonna throw it down to Michelle Show with Albert Rosnick.

Speaker 7 (02:42:56):
Thank you, Danny, Yes here with Albert Albert.

Speaker 6 (02:42:59):
Obviously disappointing end to this match and not how you
guys wanted this season to end, But what can you
say about your team's fight in this one, especially going
down a man.

Speaker 27 (02:43:09):
Yeah, I mean, you know, even with ten men, we tried.

Speaker 41 (02:43:12):
We were aware of the results that are going on
and what we had to do, and we needed a
goal at the end. We kind of tried through the
numbers forward but it didn't happen. But yeah, I'm proud
of the I'm proud of the team's.

Speaker 6 (02:43:23):
Effort for sure, sticking with the positives. Now you guys
are seven unbeaten to close out this season. Something to
be very proud of. Is this team hitting their stride
at the right time as you look to make a
long push in the playoffs.

Speaker 41 (02:43:37):
You can say, yeah, and you know, this result kind
of killed the momentum. I would say, we're gonna you know,
it's no more a winning shape. We start again from
from zero. But yeah, it's just disappointing, you know, to
mess out on CCL spot in a way we did today,
you know, and uh, yeah, that's that's all I'm gonna say.

(02:43:57):
You know, there are things I can, there are things
that we can affect, and there are things that we
can and unfortunately those we can when completely against us.

Speaker 6 (02:44:06):
Given the outcome and how this all ended here tonight,
do you think your squad will be able to use
this as extra motivation moving forward this year?

Speaker 8 (02:44:13):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 41 (02:44:14):
I mean, you know, a playoffs, everybody kind of starts
from zero, and you can say that you bring some
sort of momentum. Well, you know, playoffs games are a
little bit different. They're a bit like today, you know,
with the crowd atmosphere was amazing, Our friends were great,
you know, pushing us all the way.

Speaker 27 (02:44:28):
Through the end of the game. So I think this
is more kind of a game we can expect.

Speaker 3 (02:44:33):
In the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (02:44:35):
I know this is the last moment that you would
and you're the type of player who never really wants
to give credit to yourself, But tonight you did tie
the single season record for assists with your sixteen assists
of the year. What is it a bit about your
play this season that has really allowed you to have
so much success on the pitch with this team?

Speaker 41 (02:44:54):
You know, I would just say, you know, playing in
a position that I love playing in the most, where
I enjoy it, where I can be impactful, but.

Speaker 27 (02:45:01):
You know, there are things that I can do better,
and you know.

Speaker 41 (02:45:04):
I will try, and I will try and pushing playoffs,
and I feel like we all will, you know, because
in the playoffs you will need a little bit more.
So you know I'm prepared to work, and so is
everybody else, So you know we're ready to give it
a final question playoffs.

Speaker 6 (02:45:16):
Albert, it's always hard to talk after one like this.
Really appreciate the time and best of the luck in
the postseason.

Speaker 27 (02:45:21):
Thank you, appreciate it.

Speaker 7 (02:45:22):
Thank you, Danny.

Speaker 8 (02:45:23):
Back to you, thank you, Michelle.

Speaker 14 (02:45:25):
You got the words from Albert Rosneck frustration, but obviously
proud of the season.

Speaker 8 (02:45:28):
For the Sounders.

Speaker 14 (02:45:29):
We're able to put together and this kind of primes
them and motivates them for a playoff runner. We know
how good the Sounders are in this part of the season.
A couple of updates to give you.

Speaker 8 (02:45:39):
Houston Dynamo were leading one nil, they were in fifth position.
Ellie Galaxy got the equalizer right at the end of
the game.

Speaker 14 (02:45:47):
Right now, it's one one as it stands right now,
and some of those games are late in with lots
of added time.

Speaker 8 (02:45:54):
The Sounders are in fourth.

Speaker 14 (02:45:56):
Minnesota now with a four to one win against Saint
Louis will jump.

Speaker 8 (02:46:00):
Her fifth, so we'll see how these games play out.

Speaker 14 (02:46:03):
Right now, the Sounders are facing Minnesota in the first
round of the playoffs. Games and dates to be determined
in the next twenty four to forty eight hours, But
for now, we want to thank everyone involved in today's broadcast.

when the Sounders will host the first game and as
it stands right now, they will play Minnesota and Jack
and Felts will confirm that as he gets into his
comments and postmatch expect the announcements and MLS. You mentioned

(02:47:07):
that the sound is the next twenty four to forty
eight hours, but for now we'll take a short break,
Jackson Felts, we'll be back to break everything down. Meek,
you c pitch pitch here at Lumenfield this final regular
season game.

Welcome to the sounders FC postmat show. Sounders FC Soccer

Speaker 2 (02:51:56):
It's a final here from a Rani Women field and
the weather is his gloomy, as is the result. It's
a one to one final between your Sounders and the
Portland Timbers. Timbers got a goal in the second half
to equalize at one to one. Obed Vargas was sent
off a second yellow card for dissent and no goals
scored after that, and it's a one to one final

(02:52:18):
due to other results. And I know the last time
you heard us here on the air, Danny Jackson was
speaking and not all games were finished yet. All games
are finished now, and here's what happened. There was an
absolute wild game between the LA Galaxy and the Houston
Dynamo as things stood when a few minutes before Danny

(02:52:40):
signed off the air, it was a one nothing Houston lead.
Then the Galaxy scored in the ninety sixth minute a
Gabrielle Peck penalty that made up one to one. That
meant the LA Galaxy worthy one seed and Houston dropped
back and it was gonna be Sounders Minnesota in the
four to five game.

Speaker 3 (02:52:58):
In the first round of the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (02:53:00):
Well, then in the one hundred and eleventh minute, Daniel
Steez scored for Houston. That means Houston wins.

Speaker 3 (02:53:09):
Two to one.

Speaker 2 (02:53:10):
The fallout from that is quite large and it's quite
affecting your Sounders because the first thing is Houston jumps
back to being the five seed. Seattle will officially be
facing the Houston Dynamo in the first round of the
MLS Cup playoffs that will.

Speaker 3 (02:53:26):
Begin this next week.

Speaker 2 (02:53:29):
That will be the Sounders first round opponent, Houston Dynamo.
The other part of the fallout is that the Galaxy,
by losing that match, fall out of the one seed
LAFC take the one seed, Galaxy take the two seed
RSL have the three seed Sounders have the fourth seed.

Speaker 3 (02:53:46):
You do the math and you do the kind of
the matchups.

Speaker 2 (02:53:49):
If the Sounders were to advance past Houston, we're facing LAFC,
not the LA Galaxy in that second round of the playoffs.
Now we're getting ahead of ourselves. We're talking second round opponents,
but that is the road the Sounders have to get
to a West Final, Houston then likely LAFC. As for
this game, it's one one. A tie means that Portland

(02:54:12):
gets Cascadia Cup. So all of these things, said Brad
Evans Jackson feltz here for the postgame show, Brad, there's
not a lot of happy people right now, a lot
a lot of happy Sounder fans. The mood is what
the rain is coming down and after that, where you
have a man sent off and you weren't able to
get your first win over Portland at home since twenty seventeen,

(02:54:34):
mood is not too high right now, my friend.

Speaker 3 (02:54:37):
Yeah, I mean it's not high. And you want to
always send your fans home happy, especially on the final
day of your season. You got decision day here at home.
You're playing against your biggest rival and the only time
that you'd play them here this year in twenty twenty four,
and you go up one nothing. Fans are happy, everything's
going well, and all it takes is one moment and

(02:54:57):
one one little switch off and then all sudden things
kind of unravel, and yeah, I think the fans will
be sent home disappointed. And you know the problem is
it was a great crowd tonight and you want fans
to come back for the playoffs and you want to
give them something that reminded them of once was with
the Sounders and really filling up this bottom bowl and
then you leave them to go home one to one

(02:55:19):
and you're winning a game and then you let them
go home. So a little bit of a sour taste.
But you know, playoffs are a different beast. Like Albert
said in the postgame, you know, now we focus on
the playoffs and anybody can do anything in the playoffs.
And to your point, yeah, we play Houston. You know,
we've had a very good historical result against Houston here
at home, as well as Minnesota. But I think Minnesota

(02:55:39):
was in a better run of form entering this one, right,
I think fifteen or sixteen points from the last eighteen
they've taken to get into the position that they are now.
Houston with a couple wins, couple losses. Yes, tonight was
a last minute winner for them from a former Sounder,
Daniel Starez, And so I'm not sure it's the same
Houston that we saw in the beginning part of this year.

(02:56:00):
And we did just have a great result against them
here at home a couple of weeks ago. So they're
not a team for us to fear. And either way,
you'd have to play the Galaxy or LAFC. And both
of those teams at home have been very very good,
and yes, one of them has had your number for
years past, and maybe this is the year that the
Sounders right the ship finally, or the final moment, not

(02:56:20):
just the year, but the final moment to right the ship.
It's been since twenty nineteen that I feel like we've
gotten a decent result against them, and that was away
from home as well, and so it's a good time
for the Sounders to First you got to make it
through Houston, then you focus on what would be LAFC.

Speaker 2 (02:56:37):
Well, I mean, as you said again, the record against
Houston has been very, very good. And this is a
three game series, so two of them are at home
the first and if necessary, the third. Second one would
be down there in Houston where listen. I mean, it's
hotter temperature, but it's nothing like you'd face in August
or earlier.

Speaker 3 (02:56:54):
And you're right.

Speaker 2 (02:56:54):
Three weeks ago the Sounders beat Houston, won nothing right
here at LUMAN. That was also without Hector Herrera, a
good midfielder for the Houston Dynamo. So as we you know,
we're not gonna do too much prep on that yet.
We'll have a whole pregame shorted talk Sounders Dynamo. But
you know, I think we should spend a little more
time talking about this game, the one to one result

(02:57:15):
Sounders timbers.

Speaker 3 (02:57:16):
A few things to note here. Tonight's Toyota man of
the match with that goal or actually know what I'm
gonna go with the man who had the assist, Albert Rusnak.

Speaker 2 (02:57:24):
Your local toytot Doers are product to present tonight's man
of the match. We're going to Albert Rusnak because he
got his sixteenth assist. Sixteen assists in MLS regular season
action tied Nico Ludero for a club record for single
season assists, so at big congrats to Albert Rusnak on
equalizing Nico's mark.

Speaker 3 (02:57:41):
I'll also tell you.

Speaker 2 (03:02:10):
The Play of the Matches presented by Emerald Queen Casino,
the betting capital of the Northwest. Jackson Feltz brad Evans
here on the postgame show and Bred let's spend some
more time talking about this game. A lot of booze,
lot of chance against the referee. Interesting to see that
it didn't feel like advantage was ever played where the
Sounders were in transition and big moments where they could

(03:02:31):
have scored. Obviously, there's the second yellow for obed for descent.
Would love to know why that raised to a yellow
card and no other descent raised to a yellow card.

Speaker 3 (03:02:40):
Maybe that'll be in the pool report.

Speaker 2 (03:02:42):
What did you make overall of the officiating that seemed
to have a a impact on the Sounders in this game.

Speaker 3 (03:02:49):
Yeah, I don't I don't mind as a player bad officiating.
I understand more than likely it's gonna happen. Right. You're
taught as a player to understand that the referee is
going to make bad decison. And when I'm coaching my
own high school girls or boys, I tell them, let
us handle the referees as best we can. But when
you're playing in a setting like this, and I think
that there were a couple of fouls early on that

(03:03:11):
he could have just brought out the yellow card to
take the temperature down in the game, he just managed it.
He mismanaged the game overall, and that's his job. And
I said it on air. I think it was a
bit big of an occasion for him. And just like
when you're playing in a game and the attacker is yes,
he might be off sides, and the linesman knows, he
always waits until the play's over with if the attacker's

(03:03:32):
in an advantage position, to just make sure that before
he lifts his flag the play's over with, because if
he misses something like a handball or a deflection and
it actually is on side for the player and you
get a goal, you don't want to be the one
responsible for the VR to call it back and the
referee on four or five occasions, and it was just
unfortunately just for the Sounders and night it didn't happen

(03:03:55):
for the Timbers at all in terms of the advantageous play.
It happened four or five times sure the Sounders. And
that becomes really frustrating. As a player. You're asking yourself like,
what the hell is going on here? What am I
missing that you continuously are missing? And you know that
Schmeetz is sitting on the sideline. All those guys are
chirping in the fourth official. Then the fourth official gets
in the center and he just lost the plot. And

(03:04:17):
then for little bit Vargas, yes it's descent. I'm not
even sure it's descent in how he reacts. You saw
the replay a number of times. He's just upset. That's normal.
He's twenty yards away from the referee. And then you
see Rodriguez do it late in the second half, the
same exact thing, even more hand gestures and no call right.
And so that's the most frustrating thing is the inconsistency.

(03:04:39):
So he'll have to ask a lot of questions. And
one thing that Brian and Neville could agree on tonight
was that the refereeing was poor and both of them
were upset. You saw Neville get a yellow card as well,
and you know the Sounders are crowding the referee, and
actually Neville goes over there and pulls away the Sounders players,
like it's not worth it, right, this guy doesn't know
what he's doing. I know that that's what he's saying.
This guy has no idea what he's doing here. You're

(03:05:00):
just gonna get a yellow card. Don't be stupid, get
away from the ref. You rarely see an opposing coach
going grab players from another team and say, hey, just
leave the referees alone. So disappointing from that respect, But
the Sounders had every opportunity to go up two, three,
four nothing, and Albert said it in postgame they kept
continuing to press because they had nothing to lose, right,
And I think Schetz will say that he may have
wanted to bring on Raoul and Read and Manongu, probably

(03:05:26):
all at the same time with about fifteen minutes left
in that game, and I think that may have put
the Timbers under a little bit more pressure Hindsight's twenty twenty,
but looking back at that one, that's learning learning one
for him too.

Speaker 2 (03:05:38):
Ismeir Pechmik is, Yeah, the referees' name. We should absolutely
mention that just for clerical purposes. But I was gonna
use that phrase. I think he used it and you
nailed it. He lost the plot, you very much, And
I think that's probably exactly what film that was saying
very clearly in our opinions too. He had no idea
what he was doing out there. It's a very tough
game for the officiating and the fact that it influenced

(03:05:58):
this game so heavily with the sound couldn't get off
in transition, no advantages played, and then we see Obed
sent off. That is something that Jonathan Rodriguez doesn't even
get a card for. Ridiculous, questionable decisions, and you just
hate when game win big, big games like this or
decided not that it was decided by officiating, but so

(03:06:18):
heavily influenced by officiating. I think any Portland Timbers fan
leaving the building tonight would admit way too much of
a hand from the referee. As meir pec MC tonight
not good and it affects this game and the Sounders
end up in this situation. I was about to say
it's end up losing. It is one of those draws,
as Ryan here said, that feels like a loss. It's

(03:06:40):
one to one, but the Cascadia Cup goes to Portland.
We end up as the four seed. We're facing Houston
in the first round of the playoffs. They're the five seed,
and also LAFC they are the one seed. So as
we've said, if the Sounders were to get by the Dynamo,
it'll be LAFC again. LAFC, who of course knocked us
out of the playoffs last year. They ended the League's

(03:07:00):
Cup run this year. They ended the Open Cup run
for the Sounders this year down at Starfire, So could
we be on a collision course for number four and
thirteen months? We will soon find out. We will have
a lot of looking ahead to Sounders Houston and Sounders
