Speaker 2 (00:06):
Headlines are brought to you by Frost Brewed Cores, Light Anders.
Thank you. You know that's sorry talking to the great
Greg Bells out weekends. Thanks captain. All right, when we
got going on Seahawks taking on Arizona coming up on
Sunday over on Fox thirteen. Injury report came out yesterday

(00:28):
and not bad for Seattle though. The one thing that
jumped up a little bit for us, and we'll see
how it looks here in a little while, is the
uh missing practice of when Leonard Williams it was not
ni R, non injury related. I don't mind those. We
can deal with those. It's two days in a row
a foot has kept him off the field. Who is
this Leonard Williams? He really good last couple weeks to

(00:50):
really good. And I don't know if you know this.
A team they're playing likes to run the football. This
jally great Cosette will tell us about that at one
What can you tell us, even great, listen, there's only
one thing, Andrews. It's what the tape tells. Okay, okay,
I don't know why you would even think otherwise. I
just wanted to make sure try to listen follow along here. Okay,
all right, anyway that's going on this week. We got

(01:13):
a little NCAA basketball tonight al Corn State Washington Huskies
at seven o'clock right here on nine three point three KJFM.
Speaking of KJR, how about tomorrow matinee win tomorrow? Okay,
done in La the Matinee, the Kraken start at two games,
Southern California road trip, taking on the Kings of LA.
You do that in a big market, you play back

(01:34):
to back. We'll see that someday, NBA, NHL, NHL, NBA
in the same building in one day. One o'clock tomorrow,
we've got the Kraken taken on the Kings of Los Angeles,
twelve thirty pre game with the Great Mike Menton everybody.
He'll be down there. He's down there right actually on site. Yes,
he's down there doing that. By the way, tune into
the postgame show tomorrow because there's a new guy doing it.

(01:55):
I wonder who that is. Ain't me'll find out it's
not me. I'll tell you that you're already doing your
own on television on the Crack and Hockey Network starting
at twelve thirty as well tomorrow Clong TV Prime Video
in our area, Sounders and LAFC. Baby, Like, come on, man,
why are we playing that at one o'clock? It's a
good question.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Back to back we got. We got Seahawks, or rather
Sounders and Crack and playing tomorrow in Los Angeles one o'clock.
We'll have that game for you on nine to fifty
on the amdel Yes, and Jackson's down there as well,
so do we.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
I think the Sounders game is actually seven.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Okay, I'm looking at once. It is Saturday at one here,
let me double check. Oh, you know what, You're right,
my fault. I'm looking at Seattle La.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
I'm thirty.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Actually on my screen, I have Seattle La twice. Oh,
Seattle La, Kings, Seattle, LAFC. Anyway, Jackson's also done it. Basically,
we just sent Jackson and Betting out of town this weekend.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
We did.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Why do we do that? Because we like ourselves. Nobody
like health, nobody likes either one of those guys. We
sent them both the southern California. You guys take him,
you guys have them along the way Giants cut Daniel
Jones today.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Huh yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Every week that goes by, it makes the loss of
the Giants that much worse. Let's start the show.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Here we go as part of our relentless coverage of
the NFL. I'm proud right your home for the twelfth Man,
proudly pre sins of Washington State Beat Commissions Football Friday,
proudly brought to you by the Washington Beat Farmers and
Renchers Beat. It's What's for Dinner Football Friday is on

(03:29):
with the inf nets on Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ R FM.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, we've made it to Friday.
It is State Beat Commissions Football for Washington State Beef
Commission Football Friday. I don't know how we made it here,
but we did here. We are un just let me
start with this the we'll get into sports. Don't worry
in a second. But this has been an absolute crap

(03:58):
fastic week for every buddy. Wow, no, no, no, I got you.
For so many people, people in our building, I mean
for me, purple sheet, so many others, not just losing power,
but damage, yard damage, house damage, fence damage, all that
we all share in similar pain this week. It has

(04:20):
been a nightmare. And you know, we live in the
Northwest and we don't expect stuff like that to happen.
Like I mentioned this the other day, cycle and bomb aside,
we live in a little bit of a back of
our minds pseudo. I don't say fear, but there's always
that thought that we could have. We're on a fault line.
The earthquake. We don't deal with hurricanes and stuff like
that all the time. The cycle and bomb rolled in

(04:42):
here and it was just South End, North End, not
so much. The city got devastated. I saw it today
driving in more so than I had. And the inconvenience
not having power is one of those things that weighs
on you mentally. It just kind of messes with you.
But it's an inconvenience. The true damage is the worst part.
The cost is the worst part. Just a shout out. Listen,

(05:06):
p S's taken a lot of heat. They always will,
they always do. You know, everyone wants their stuff fixed
right away. Are you prepared? Are you not prepared? You
know that kind of stuff. Listen. I've drove by so
many crews this week, not just them, but also the
folks out there that work for cities, the counties, even

(05:26):
private people that have been hired to come in to
clean up the damage, the trees, all those types of things.
There's a lot of people out there grinding away, and
I know some of them are probably listening right now
as they do their work, might be listening on the app.
They're sports fans. Thank you, thank you, and thank you.
Your hard work's appreciated, whether Seattle City light or PSEs
and homage power, whatever it might be. Thanks guys and ladies,

(05:50):
we know you're working hard. We all want it done faster.
We all wish it was more preventable. It probably isn't
or it would be right. I'm guessing. Yeah. I was
sideways the last few days, and it weighs on you
so bad. That's why sports are fun, because it gives
you and you know, the worst part is when you
can't watch sports or in some places even listen to
it because we didn't have cell service like it was.

(06:10):
I know, Purple, she was telling me the other day
that we had more people listening to the Cracking Game
regular season maybe than ever before because people couldn't watch
it on T and T. I'm gloat. It was on
was on TNT and on our station. Win win for
us at the Crack and Hockey Network. Selfishly, yes, but
yeah no, it's sports. Gives us that little outlet and
we all need it this weekend. And luckily we've got

(06:31):
stuff going on now. The Huskies have a buy Kugs
played tomorrow at four, Crack Can played tomorro at one,
Sounders played tomorrow, and n I got some big college football
games tomorrow, and then the Seahawks on Sunday with a
huge game, which is awesome. It makes me so thrilled
honestly that the Seahawks won last week for this reason.
We have something really to look forward to on Sunday. Yes,
a really big football game for a team that's had

(06:53):
an up and down season. A massive football game. Really,
you can make an argument. I know the Niners are
here for Thursday night, October third or tenth. I guess
it was whatever man that was. The team was playing
like garbage at the time. Defense was awful, Gino was
kind of just it just was not a good It
was not a good time for that Seahawks team on

(07:14):
that Friday or Thursday, October tenth. They were not playing
well and we tried to hype ourselves up. It's the
forty nine ers and all that they win, that little
bit of a tail spin, but where they're playing and
how they're playing. I know they lost two weeks ago,
but watching that defense progress and then watching what happened
last week and seeing the rest of this division kind
of fall apart by the wayside, we have truly one
of the bigger games at Lumenfield in a long time

(07:37):
coming up regular season wise, coming up on Sunday. You know,
the forty nine Ers have owned this division, and before them,
it was the Rams owning this division in the post
good Seahawks era. It's wide open right now. The Cardinals
think they have a chance, and they do. They do
like seven and four, they really have a chance. The

(07:58):
Seahawks know with a win they're right back in a
semi driver's seat situation, splitting with San Francisco getting a
win over over Arizona. Now we all start rooting hard
for the Eagles on Sunday as well, taking on the Rams.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
This is a mass This is a packer's I'm sorry right,
Packers Packers playing Niners, Eagles playing.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Yeah, that's yea. The Rams game is the one I'm
really like, come on, Eagles Fly, Eagle Fly, let's go
fighting Kevin Shockings. But but this is a massive game
and we need this game. We need and I'm hoping
by Sunday. We had a little bit of a last
night around the area, a little more wins. Some we're
supposed to come in today, southerly wins. I texted my

(08:38):
buddy b mac Brian McMillan them, like, dude, we don't
need more. Turn off the damn wind machine. But it
sounds like it was. It's not like it was on Tuesday.
And there might be a little bit of minor stuff
here or there, but we're still putting the pieces back together,
and I'm hoping by Sunday, man, most people are able
to settle in either at home or go to their
favorite watering hole and watch this game and get fired

(09:00):
up and get excited and scream their lungs out let
out some frustration from the week, and enjoy what should
be just a hell of a game and a hell
of a big game, legitimate regular season big game. And
you know what I'm hoping for more than anything, Anders
There's been so much talk over the last few weeks.
Really this season about the crowd. Yeah, and about the

(09:22):
fact that so many people have sold their tickets to
opposing fans. That's up to you, man, that's a you thing.
You want to sell your tickets. I think that's a
crappy thing to do as a season ticket older myself,
but I'm not the one investing in it. So you
do you. But Arizona doesn't travel. This isn't like it's
not like Pittsburgh coming town, or San Francisco coming to town,
or Dallas coming to town or somebody like that, or

(09:44):
even Buffalo. They don't travel. Their fans are worthless sales.
Never played a road game in Arizona. They just never have.
So like, this should be the game where it's all
Seattle fans, and this should be the game where you're
going bananas. And I look back, I watch did you
watch Thursday Night foot? Yes? Unfortunately, that's a fan base.

(10:05):
I told you, guys is god. I don't know, it's
like six years ago. We were there, maybe probably like
five or six years ago. We were in Cleveland and
we went there for that game. And I told I
came back and what jumped out at me from that
game in Cleveland? And I, you know, they the Cleveland
Browns fans to me in some aspects, not the one

(10:26):
I'm gonna mention in a second, but in some aspects
they're very sonics, Like they're sonic fans, Like, yeah, they
are passionate, they love their team. And then they got
their team ripped out of their faces for no reason
other than they played in the dump at the time
and their owner was a loser. And and you know,
like most owners and sports, with the exception of the

(10:47):
hockey team here seriously, and I'm and the football team
like our football ownership and our hockey ownership is phenomenal,
top class, top class. Yes, all this leave it at
that Sounders up put that category two.

Speaker 5 (10:57):
Yeah, but.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
Just a cheap that decides to take them and rip
them out of their rip their soul out, rip their
heart out. They get their team back, and frankly, that
team has given them nothing to cheer about. Nothing brief
glimpse is of fun over the years, but really more
despair and disappointment than anything. They're two to eight crappy

(11:19):
weather outdoor stadium, and there ain't no cover in that stadium, folks.
If you watch that game last night, there is no
cover in that thing, and that wind whips off the lake.
It is no fun to be in there. They had
that place packed. There might have been fifty Steelers fans there,
and they stayed till the damn bitter end. That's what
an NFL fan base looks like. That's what we used

(11:40):
to look like here. That's what we used to look
like in Seattle, where people didn't want to come here.
They were fearful of the south end zone. They didn't
want You're an opposing offense and you're facing that end
zone trying to go in or you have your back
to that end zone. You want no part of south
end zone? Guy, No, you want no part of fan zone.

(12:00):
Guy neck tattoo. Guy, neck tattoo, guy wearing his construction
hat with the Seahawk logos on it. You want no
part of that, dude. When I went to Cleveland a
few years ago to cover the game, the press box,
the glass, the press box is backed right up against
the seats, kind of down low. They're allegedly club level,
but them dudes in the club level don't look like
our club level people. I'm telling you that right now.

(12:22):
They are nuts. They are insane. The one guy in
front of me. He I don't know how many. I'm
guessing God, it had to be a dozen cocktails pregame,
and then he lightened up and switched to beers, him
and his four buddies yea for the second half, pounding
on the glass in front of us, scaring the daylights
out of us. But those guys were loud, they were crazy,

(12:44):
they were insane, and they love their team and they
make a difference. They made a difference last night and
a damn blizzard. That's what we need to be on Sunday.
I want to see that return to loom and I
think this is the week it does. I really do.
We all need to just go bananas and scream and yell,
go tail, get your ass off. I know it's going
to cost you bucks in a parking lot, and you know,
screw you, Joe Diamond and everybody else that goes down
there and tries to steal money from our fans. But

(13:05):
you know what, go down there, get after it, go somewhere. Pregame.
I'll tell you we're not to go big place, go
to a smaller place and go have fun. Okay, go
have fun, make a difference, because this is a big,
big ass regular season game coming up on Sunday on
this Washington State Beef Commission Football Friday. All right, Danny
O'Neil is going to join us in just a couple
of minutes. We'll talk Huskies Oregon. Even though it's a

(13:27):
week away, we won't talk. Probably talk to him next
week because of the holiday. I'm getting that with him.
We'll also check in great co sale. All he can
tell you, Andrews is.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
What what is on the tape?

Speaker 5 (13:37):
Well?

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Ask him what was on the tape last week? All right?
All right, see X looked pretty good. And then Rob
rang talking about the big college football weekend as well.
At two o'clock. We got a busy show today four nine,
four to five one. Tell them text on to try
to get some text in as well. Four nine four
to five one. Talkbacks are always there for your red
microphone on the iHeartRadio app. And then we got a
Factor fiction pick is we have a strong week coming up.
Byes h, We're gonna finish this thing off straight time.

(13:59):
Gokoob stand this week your chance to win one thousand
dollars weekly prize. At two thirty five on ninety three
point three KFM.

Speaker 1 (14:09):

Speaker 2 (14:25):
He needs to request the.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Quote today at NWA chess dot com or call for
two five two five five zero five hundreds. Now here's
he in with Danny O'Neill.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
All right, back in here on a Friday afternoon. Of course,
it's a washing steed beef mission. Football Friday Beef. What's
for dinner? Danny O'Neil's weekly visit Danny, how are you,
my friend?

Speaker 5 (14:49):
I'm doing well. I think that I'm sufficiently enthused after
the World of Warcraft Friday night.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Man, I don't know if we'll get a chance to
talk next week because of the holidays and all that.
So we we should spend a little bit of time
before I get to some seahawks and other stuff on
the war.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
What was it?

Speaker 2 (15:11):
War of Warcraft?

Speaker 6 (15:12):
Was that?

Speaker 2 (15:12):
The help? Was that?

Speaker 6 (15:12):
The theme with the Hell of war Craft?

Speaker 2 (15:15):
The World of Lee Rod Jenkins Oh my gosh, Hey,
a win is a win bowl eligibility. Let's go. Come on,
can't walk that well, you guys wore your traditional colors
of black. I mean that that's I do like when
you do that, that's always good.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
I mean they redid our mascot. I was a little disappointed,
like some people were worried they were going to put
it on the side of the helmet.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
I kind of liked to redone mascot because he looked
like he was on math or scaoids, Like he looked
like he was sufficiently amped up and ready to go.
He looked kind of fearsome.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Well that would work, because I mean he's only a
stone's throw from University alf which used to be kind
of nice but not as isn't anymore.

Speaker 5 (15:55):
And I don't believe it's ever been nice. And let
I've heard allegation of this. I don't believe it ever.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Let the record show that's a husky alum saying that,
not the cougar on this part of the show. All right,
let the record show that, please, ladies and gentlemen, that
is you, not me saying that along the way. All right, Uh,
let's so you get bowl eligible. That's nice. I think
if you're going to look ahead to the future, it's
always good you can get some practice. The thing with

(16:22):
the Bowl eligibility, I know some fans are down on it.
I get that. I like watching my team play more
than less, so I'm always in for another game. I
like that no matter what the bull is. But that's
just and college football seems to be such a short,
quick sprint of a season, so I'm in. But maybe
for jet Fish it's also important, right because if Demon
Williams is your guy moving ahead, you get some more

(16:42):
practices with him, probably get a lot of playing time
for him in that game. It's not a bad thing.

Speaker 5 (16:49):
Yeah, I tend to be on your side of Hey,
more football, not less. That's great, it's great. I think
the players typically enjoy the experiences they have at both.
It can be tough year where you had big expectations
to then end up in one of these first half
of December before Christmas bulls. But that wasn't the case
with Washington this year. I always thought it would be

(17:12):
really an accomplishment for them to win seven games, and
the fact that they they're at guaranteed at least six
with a puncher's chance at Oregon. I'm excited for them.
I think it's a good I think it's a good
I think it's a good achievement for them.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Yeah, and all the stuff the coaches like is good.
You can also point to it. Hey, we go to
a bowl game every year. I think that still has
some cachet with players when you're trying to recruit them,
and you know, in a so called rebuilding year. I
think all those things matter and they're all good thing.
All right, let's get to the other part of this.
It's not I guess we could almost say it's Oregon

(17:46):
week because there's a bye week this week, right, So
it's Oregon week. Danny, it's Oregon week. What do you think, Buddy, Well.

Speaker 5 (17:52):
I'm encouraged because it appears their coach is a legitimate
crazy person.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Hey, is that the fact? I tended to think that
Oregon fans are a little hard on him for some
of his more aggressive decisions. I like aggressive coaches. I
think coaches, by and large tend to be too conservative.
But then he went and pulled that that fake punt
or the fake field goal attempt out of his hindparts

(18:19):
last week, and I was like, Oh, oh yeah, this
guy is kind of unhinged. This is this is dangerous.
This is holding up liquor stores with the born to
lose tattoo on your chest.

Speaker 6 (18:28):
This is a.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
What does the rivalry mean to you, Well.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
It's meant different things at different points. When we were
in the midst of having lost twelve in a row
to them, it was awful and I don't even want
to pretend that it was anything. It was the most annoying,
irritating thing that I've experienced as a sports fan. I
think the rivalry is in a healthier place, and maybe

(18:58):
that's because I'm a little more on balance now that
Washington's strung a couple of big wins together and competitive
for the last five years, Because for a long time
it was really unhealthy in the sense that Oregon fans
hated Washington because of our honestly justified like the arrogance

(19:22):
that we tended to use when dismissing their recent accomplishments.
It was really it wasn't a great it wasn't a
healthy rivalry. The way the two schools saw each other.
They thought we were arrogant and resting on past achievements.
We thought they were the Beverly Hillbillies of college football
who fired their shotgun into the ground and hit Phil

(19:45):
Knight's wallet, and it created like there was a there
was really an I feel better about Washington about Oregon
now than I did five or six years ago. So
I don't know if that's how duck Fence feel. I
think it's a really good rivalry in terms of what
it means and how much the two fan bases care
about it. But I do think that it needs to

(20:08):
be and has gotten a little bit healthier.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
I think it's an interesting part. I do like the
Beverly Hillbilly shooting the I like that that's actually awesome.
I mean as a fan of neither school, the part
that I guess as someone on the West Coast who's
still a college football fan and just despite being beaten
down and kicked in the face a thousand times over

(20:34):
and over again, still someone who likes college football. I
do like the fact and Husky fans will bristle and
soft he will lose his mind if he's driving around
right now. I like the fact there's a potentially dominant
team on the West Coast. And I because you know,
Washington is always going to be a factor, and a

(20:54):
team that could be you know, can on the occasion
jump up and have seasons like the last couple, and
who knows what happens next year. Obviously this year was
a step back. But but Oregon feels like the consistent,
we're not going anywhere thing, And a lot of it
is the money, you know whatever. Their collective is called
Easy Street, Backstreet, Backstreet Boy, whatever the hell it's called.
Those guys and Phil Knight, but just the money going

(21:16):
to that program. They're not going anywhere. And I think
I do love because college football, as you would probably agree,
has been so southeastern, not just the SEC, but Clemson included,
dominate it dominated, and then you throw in the out
Ohio State or Michigan. That's all it is. So I
like the fact there's a team in the Pacific time
zone that's going to be good. The fact that they

(21:37):
beat Washington makes it better for me, to be honest
with you, I do like that sometimes. But Oregon, like
Oregon ain't going anywhere, Danny like, they're not going anywhere
in the near future.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
I would agree with that, and I'm almost I've almost
reached the point of zen where I could say that, Hey,
if the Huskies aren't going to do it, I'd rather
Oregon do it than USC because I really hate USC.
But I still really hate Oregon.

Speaker 7 (22:03):
I can't.

Speaker 5 (22:04):
I can't. I'm not. I'm not well adjusted enough to
have gotten to that point. But look, there is i
SEC annoys the hell out of me. There's some of
the Big ten fans that annoy the hell out of me.
So yeah, I do, like I do generally have a
tendency to poll for West Coast teams. It's just that

(22:24):
one in particular, I haven't. I haven't really been able
to get an It's.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Funny you bring up USC, man, I feel the same one.
I hate USC and I My my reason is probably different.
I think, well, they are the team, they're the reason.
They along with absolute inept leadership top to bottom one
through twelve in the conference, but they're the reason that
we are no longer the Pac twelve. It's them. Yes,
Washington and Oregon did what they had to do. The

(22:50):
other schools had to do what they wanted, what they
had to do. Were left on the side of the
road which was going to happen. That's that is what
it is. It's reality. Utah is having that of buyer's remorse.
I think so is Arizona. Utah for sure though, is
having buyer's remorse. But we're only here because USC decided
to be USC. That's why we're here. I mean they
they've been pissed since two thousand and God when was

(23:12):
it one of the PAC twelve form twenty ten? Is
that right? Twenty ten?

Speaker 5 (23:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (23:16):
And yeah there. They've been pissed since then, as we
all know, because they used to get a larger cut,
and then when we did the equal share, they've been
sitting there stewing in the corner like a third grade girl,
mad and pouting and stomping her feet. They've been doing
that since then, and they're the reason we are where
we are. So I tend to if i'm if I

(23:37):
my hate level in the Big twelve, it's usually going
to be Washington number one, but if not, it's going
to be one in one A and USC is right
up there.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
There are very few times in which a school acts
out that the geographic stereotypes as strongly as USC does
in terms of its obsession with superficial like self intro
did it is Southern California in that way? All of
the worst things that people will say about Southern California

(24:06):
in embodies, and I generally tend to think of them
as they're the really affluent only child. They've never wanted
for anything, They've always gotten it their way. They've got
a little bit of a belief that everything is going
to be arranged for them. I'm next next week, I'm
going to be in Yosemite with my dad's family. My

(24:27):
dad was one of ten kids, very Irish Catholic family.
I've got thirty some first cousins on this side and
his dad, so my grandfather, Babo, we called him Robert O'Neill.
Babo hated USC like he's one of the one of
the only people in my family that was really interested

(24:47):
in sports, like we love sports, but he hated USC.
He hated USC more than he liked any team. So
I like to think that in a small way, I
carry on Babo's legacy being Adam Leah Post. There was
a moment earlier this year when USC was playing Michigan
when that game started where I found myself, Oh, I'm

(25:08):
almost I kind of want USC to win this, and
thankfully it passed and by the end of the first quarter,
I wanted them to go down in a fiery blaze.
But I hate usc.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Danny O'Neil joining us a great conversation as always every
week at this time, we'll let him have the day.
Black's Friday off. You're off next week, buddy, You're all good.
You go enjoy time with Babo and company. Let's so,
I'm reading your columns this week in your in your
your great work. Are you conflicted on Geno Smith? Where
is Dannie O'Neil falling on the Geno Smith debate? Which

(25:40):
he doesn't really want to have that debate because it's
a lazy sports debate. So where are you falling on
the Geno debate?

Speaker 5 (25:46):
Well? No, what's funny you asked me this the last
time we talked, because I too, Dick Vane was in
last Friday, right if you asked me what do you
do with Gino? And my answer was I'm not going
to commit more money to him?

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Right?

Speaker 5 (25:57):
And after I got off the phone, I started hating
my answer because I was thinking about it. Where do
I think they're going to get a better quarterback than
Geno Smith?

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (26:08):
But between now and the start of next season, how
exactly is that going to happen, and the answer is
it's not. And I firmly believe that until you get
a quarterback that you know is better than Geno Smith,
you should not talk yourself out of him. So where
I fall now and I think that if anything, the
game in San Francisco solidified this is yeah, they should

(26:31):
keep him. I understand the argument against it, and I'm
not certain that I'm right, but my belief is yes,
absolutely they should keep him. And if it was announced
before Sunday's game against Arizona that they'd extended him, I
would be happy with that.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
You and not on the same page, because I think
when I brought that up a couple of weeks ago,
I have said the same thing. I said, that's fine
if if you as you know, like when fans say,
you know, move on or this, and that. I'm always
of the belief almost any position, but especially an important
position like that. What's the alternative. What's the answer, Because
if you're telling me it's a team that's in transition

(27:10):
in a rebuild mode, then that's fine. It's built through
the draft, and let's check back in two or three years.
The contracts they have in the books, the money they've
committed to different players, the future of the skill position
players they have with dk JSN, ken Walker, all those things.
What they're gonna do with Jones in the middle at
the middle linebacker spot, although they're not that team, so

(27:33):
you better if you're gonna spend money elsewhere. You can
try to take the next step and rebuild the offensive
line through the draft and free agency. Redo Gino's contract,
or you can say, you know what, let's just go
take a flyer and maybe we find our version of
Sam Darnold and develop a young guy along the way
where there's no guarantee. Give me a better alternative than Gino.

(27:55):
And I'm with you until I see that I restructure
redo the contract. None of us are, Danny. I don't
know about you. I've never tried to play a capologist
on the air because frankly, I just getting through you know,
high school mouth was hard enough, much less college, So
I don't try to worry about that stuff. But I
do know they probably have to restructure it. But find
me an alternative, and I don't see one out there.

Speaker 5 (28:15):
Yeah, there's a sense that people have, or an argument
that people make, which is you should pay a great quarterback.
But if you've got a moderately good, if you've got
a Kirk Cousins Alex smithish type quarterback, you're better off
not paying him. You're better off taking a shot and

(28:35):
maybe the guy is gonna stink or maybe he'll be good,
but you're better off if you've got that that good,
mid mediocre starting quarterback in the NFL, that you should
you should not pay him. And I disagree with that.
I think if you've got that kind of quarterback, you
should be looking for potential guys that could be better.

(28:56):
You should be actively bringing in other people that you
think might develop into something. But you should keep that
player until you have someone better than him. Being good
is better than being bad at that position.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
It's weird, that is. I think that's true. I think
that's that might be the best thing you've ever told
us on this show. Being good is better than being
bad at that position? With me, deep thoughts with Danian
and Neil. It's brought to you by Northwest Handling Systems

(29:29):
us a call four two five two five five zero
five hundred. You share something in common with Mike McDonald.
He's also a big fan of Devin Witherspoon, by the way.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
Oh god, it's become my little favorite thing is to
go look for examples of Devin Witherspoon just being a
maniac on the field.

Speaker 6 (29:45):
He's a crazy person.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
Mm hmmm.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
You know, he's we watched. We talked about this a
little bit this year when we were you know, you
had to do it as a beat writer for a
while and so you had to be there. We were
there by choice, but still felt like it was important
doing our party good job that we're doing right now,
and that's being at mini camps and OTAs and things
like that, and those things. In even training camp, Danny,
as you know, it just gets monotonous. It's just like,

(30:08):
oh my god, here we go again, another seven on
seven drill. It's this, this and this. It all looks
the same. We all start evaluating who looks great in
shorts and tank tops and jerseys and you know, no
pads on. But the one thing that was really entertaining
this year, I mean really entertaining this year was watching him.
He never shuts up. He's always talking and there is

(30:32):
you know, and we all want to compare, and you know,
is he the next this or that or what have you?
Body type? He's not the next this or that compared
to the past guys because he just looks different. But
if you're looking for someone that has the same aura
attitude and just kind of mocksye that the Lob had Danny,
it's this guy. It is one hundred percent this guy.

Speaker 5 (30:55):
Yeah, I thought the exact same thing. We talk about, Hey,
could this person play with that group? Devin Withers not
only play with that group, he would absolutely stand out
just like he did because he his effort level is
off the charts. The way he runs after after guys,
the way he's chased down players, it's really it's really

(31:15):
pretty striking, the way he plays.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
He he would have been him and Doug would have
been brawling every damn practice. I'll tell you that right now,
like angry Doug and him would not be getting along.
I can tell you that right now it would have
It would have been entertaining, you know, like I think
Doug and Richard had a gentleman's agreement that they're just
gonna leave each other alone. But that wouldn't have been
happening with Devin and Doug. That would not have man,
the stoic Doug Baldwin and this guy chirping at him

(31:39):
would not be That would not fly Man, That would
not fly at all.

Speaker 8 (31:44):
Iron.

Speaker 7 (31:46):
Yeah, at some points, just gonna each other.

Speaker 5 (31:50):
But heads a time.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Yeah, at some point eighty nine is just gonna snap?
Is what's gonna happen along the way? Real quick? Before
I let you go. We brought this debate up earlier.
Earl Thomas, a semi finalist for the Pro Football Hall
of Fame. Marshaun wit Lynch wasn't we'll tackle Marshawn later
on down the road with you? Earl Thomas? Is he
a no brainer hall of Famer? I think it might
be a stretch for a first ballot. But what do
you think about Earl in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 5 (32:12):
I do believe Earl is a Hall of Famer. The
challenge that I think that will come is that he
and cam Chancellor and Richard Sherman. I think that Earl
is I would put Sherman ahead of Earl in terms
of the Hall of Fame candidacy Rich, but that's really close.
I think Earl was extraordinary. Yeah, for me, he is

(32:37):
a no doubt about it. But he doesn't have some
of the statistics that a guy like Ed Reid had,
So I don't know how to anticipate how the voters
will vote. But to me, e Earl absolutely is a
Hall of Famer. He was. He changed. He basically changed
the geometry of how that defense worked because of the

(33:00):
round he could cover as a single high safety. What
he allowed Seattle to do because of that range. There's
there's not another safety that was playing in his decade
that was able to deby. He was one of one
in that way.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Danny tell us about the great sports writing that you're
doing right now that people can go check out.

Speaker 5 (33:19):
Well, you can log on at Nanny O'Neil dot com

Well done, that was sung to the Beverly Hill.

you for having me. Danny O'Neill coming up, Greg Closeel

Speaker 2 (34:37):
Danny Say. Danny said something about he's almost rooting for
the Ducks.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
Yeah, he's like he would almost rather the Ducks do
it than USC be the elite team from the West Coast.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
I'm not there.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Else isn't there. I got a text from him. Uh yeah,
everyone fans differently. I get that I can't do it well.
The Ducks are just the Duck Washington rivalry is something else.
It's fun. It's I love it from Afar. It's one
of my favorite things is it's just kind of it's
very voyeuristic. I can just look at it from afar

(35:12):
and like just laugh say this all the time. They're
the exact same fan base. Danny kind of tried to
insinuate they weren't. They are. You're the same person, the
same fan base, exactly, every part of you is the same.
The difference is Washington's been at it longer because there's
sustained success during the Don James era when Oregon was crappy.

(35:33):
So there's just like another probably decade and a half
of Washington's arrogance that got a headstart on Oregon's arrogance.
That's all. That's the only difference outside I thought you
guys are the same. The difference in terms of the
field and on the field. Now, first of all, I'm
with him. I mentioned this when I talk to him.
I hate USC, flip and hate you. I almost swore there,

(35:57):
I flip and hate USC.

Speaker 6 (36:00):
I I.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
You know, USC should have been the flag bearer for
the conference, right, They should have took taken a leadership role.
They should have understood the history of the conference that
they can still make good money in the conference based
on them being USC and if it means less of
a rev share for some of the smaller schools like ours,
so be it. But you're still USC. You could run

(36:25):
this conference. Here's what's funny about where USC is now.
They'll never run the Big ten. Now, Organ may organ might. Yeah, Unfortunately,
they're not going anywhere. No, like, they're not going anywhere.

Speaker 4 (36:42):
They're probably the out of every single college football team.
They're the most prepared in this new age.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
Far and away because they've been paying guys for thirty
years exactly. So they they've been doing they've been paying
dues for thirty years. They've had guys getting you know,
not one hundred dollars handshake, thousand dollars handshake for years.
They're fine. Yeah, but yeah, you're right. That's a great
way to look at They're very they were when things
got legal. They're like, wow, this is cool. This makes

(37:08):
it even Now we're going to take it to a
different love. Everyone else trying to catch up. They'll never
catch up to him, exactly, But us USC could have
been that that So I agree with Danny in that regard.
I USC just they're more awning. Yeah, and I love
did you see? So I guess they have this annual
U C L a USC PEP rally or something. Last night.
I remember we talked about this last year.

Speaker 3 (37:30):
They playing each other this weekend.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
Yeah, I think so right, and and and they whatever
this rally was this big PEP rally they do at USC.
I guess Lincoln Riley never shows up to it, like,
literally never shows up to it.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
God, how how much does he want to get out
of there right now?

Speaker 7 (37:46):
Well?

Speaker 2 (37:46):
I just don't think he cares, you know, I just
I don't think he's a guy that gives a rip
about about what the school is or traditions or anything
like that. And it's just it's kind of funny. I
just I gotta find this because it was I saw
this last night. I was thinking about it that you know,
he is he he just doesn't he just doesn't care.

(38:10):
Let's see, Yeah, he just he just didn't show up again.
Like it's it's like beneath him and he's like the
only coach he's ever done that. Really, it's like, dude,
you're awful. You're an awful coach right now, and you
still don't care.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
Like you got to suck up a little bit to
the fans because of how bad you buy, but us he.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Could have run this They could have run this conference,
and they didn't. And I don't know if they get
it back. To be honest with you, I know they
building a new facility, but they went out and hire
a d coach and he's been a disaster. Yeah. I
mean when you can't win with the number one overall
pick and the Heisman Trophy winner, like win at a

(38:47):
high level, I mean not like winning a no. Win
at a high level, and now you've taken a massive
step back. The Big ten's not waiting around for you.
You know, Washington might be able to take a step
back forward. Who knows, I don't know's I know, like
if I listen to three to seven, they're gonna be
They're they're gonna be comming along forever. But yeah, and
and I think Washington's one of those programs I would

(39:09):
put them like in the Michigan State category, like you're
gonna have your peaks and you're gonna have your valleys, yeah,
like like up and down, up, and then.

Speaker 4 (39:16):
Their peaks are bigger than Michigan State's peaks in terms
of football.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Well, look at Michigan State's history in the like when
Mark D'Antonio was there. They were really good. They we're
really good now. They made a college football playoff. Good though,
but that was a two team playoff, right, I guess.
And they were also but you look at their record
year by years. You know what they did. They went
out and hired an awful, awful human being as a
football coach. Yeah, they just made an awful hire there.

(39:40):
And they had some other issues in you know, off
campus and everything else. Right, they had all kinds of
other stuff going on. But you know, Oregon ain't going away,
Ohio State's not going away. Peas State's kind of the
funny one because there's always gonna be kind of good enough.
We'll see with the divisions different, Yeah, no divisions. How
they how they're able to handle things. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (39:57):
Penn Sate Niwa is gonna be the one where like
I don't know how they just too. I don't know
if I wo cam with Kirk Ference influx with Yeah,
I don't know if I don't know. I don't know
if I can with Kirk Ference. I don't know if
he's the guy. But yeah, interesting stuff, all right. Four
one Telemory text time his game time. It's tall Ay Time, Greg.

Speaker 2 (40:12):
Cosell, what does the tape say about last week's win?
What does the tape say about your friends in mind,
the Arizona Cardinals.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
Wait, I'm not fans with them?

Speaker 2 (40:23):
No, I'm not either. What am I saying? We'll get

Speaker 2 (40:55):
What do you got going on here?

Speaker 8 (40:56):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Do? I'll just touch it on this. We may touch
on the bottom. The two cal Rawley fires. Scott Boris
and you're saying, huh, what does that matter? That's his agent.
Scott Boris is a jerk. He hates the Mariners and
he hates all things that you know, have to do
with what's right in baseball.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
That doesn't have to do with money. He hates all things.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
He thought would be a big, big roadblock to potentially
the local baseball team resigning cal Rawley to a long
term deal. Now, of course, the other roadblock is ownership.
They're cheap. Yeah, but that's a good step in the
right direction if you hope cal Rawley's here. He's through
twenty twenty seven, right.

Speaker 4 (41:31):
He's under control six seven. When he hits free agency,
I could check.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
Now, we'll do that one thirty. Okay, we'll do that
at one thirty. It's good news though. He's the best
catcher in the game, period and a story. Thanks for
coming drop. Seahawk injuryport number one of two has come out.
Here's the good news. I just I just perused it
a moment ago. No Leonard Williams on it, No Way
Lucas on it, no designation for those guys. Right now,
that's really good, really good. Saturday or Sunday Seahawks taken

(41:58):
on Arizona. We'll talk about that with gret Cosel. Just
a couple of moments. Husky basketball tonight right here in
KJR taking on Alcorn State also tomorrow. Right here in KJR,
We've got a little thing called cracking hockey wins that

(42:21):
Why because nobody likes either one of those guys. We
wanted to get him out of here. It's like putting
them on a rocket ship and send them away the barge.
The barge. Can I say that I think he might.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
Have a trademark?

Speaker 2 (42:33):
You don't mind, buddy, It's okay, I just mentioned it once.
I'll send you five dollars. All right, Let's get to it.
Greg Cosale standing bye. He wants to talk. Oh, by
the way, Daniel Jones released by the New York Giants.
That loss looks worse by the day. Let's talk all
things Seahawks. Greg Cosal standing by.

at Seattlesider they bring us great co sell every Friday. Hey,

a Friday the thirteenth Flash Tattoo pop up as well.
They got some other cool events coming up as well
as some great great products, some new ones including Raspberry

(43:45):

ton of local beers on tap if you're going to
the tap room as well, not just cider as well,
So go check it out at Seattle Cider and big
thanks to them for supporting Greg Cosel and these fun
segments that everyone loves every week. As we talked Seahawks
and Cardinals, Greg, before we get to Seahawks Cardinals, how

(44:09):
about those Seahawks going. I don't know what you told
Dick Fame last week, but it must have worked, because
lo and behold, they go down and win in San
Francisco for the first time in six tries.

Speaker 6 (44:19):
Yeah, it was. It was a good effort. I mean,
the Niners offense did not really look like the Niners
offense in terms of the passing game. And while I
thought Perdy, who has struggled quite a bit this year,
quite frankly, still, you have to give the defense credit.
I thought they were really aggressive. They played some really
good snaps of man to man coverage. I thought the

(44:39):
Niners receivers at times struggle to separate, and Purdy missed
some things where you know, he just didn't turn it loose.
I mean, the one thing we know about Purdy from
last year and his rookie year when he came in
was that he was a higher level timing anticipation. Guy
got the ball out. Was you know saw really clearly,

(45:01):
and you know he hasn't really been that guy as
much this season, and last week he certainly was and
he left some throws on the field. But the defense
was pretty.

Speaker 2 (45:10):
Good, and I want to talk about that before we
get into Arizona and what they do on both sides
of the ball. For our week we visit are kind
of a scouting report from Greg. We you know, when
Mike McDonald was hired. I remember I called you immediately
and I said, Greg, we need John. We need to
talk about the Mike McDonald defense. And that was back
in January of last year. Probably they have struggled at

(45:33):
times in terms of the total defense. There's still twenty second,
twenty seventh in run defense fifteenth and pass defense twenty
first in points allowed, So the raw numbers overall this
season aren't there, but it feels like rams game, this game,
we're starting to see some improvement. Are you seeing traits
of the Mike McDonald Baltimore defense now in Seattle? And

(45:57):
if so, what are those?

Speaker 7 (46:00):
Well?

Speaker 6 (46:00):
I thought this week you saw it for sure, and
it might have been the forty nine ers because they
do play a ton of base personnel offense, meaning they
played twenty one personnel with Uschek the full back. They
played twelve personnel with two tight ends. Not as much
this week Kittle was out. They played actually with six

(46:21):
ozero line personnel to sort of compensate for Kittle being out.
But I thought in this particular game, maybe because of that,
maybe it's something we'll see as we go forward. He
played a ton of big nickel, meaning he played with
three safeties, so and I thought in this game he
essentially deployed a Love in the big nickel personnel package

(46:44):
much the same way that he deployed Kyle Hamilton with
the Ravens. Now, we're not going to get into a
debate about who's a better player. The point is that
Love is multi dimensional in his traits. He plays with
great awareness. He put him in the box. Most of
the time they played big nickel. He was almost always
in the box. So big nickel was clearly a foundational

(47:06):
part of the game plan against the Niners. Now, as
I said, I don't know if that was specific to
the Niners, because they are a high percentage base personnel offense,
and of course the cards are too, so you could
see a lot of it this week as well.

Speaker 2 (47:22):
How important is that particular position in what McDonald does
The Kyle We'll call it the big nickel Kyle Hamilton
position for example, right like, and you know with jenkins
being hurt, you know, Kobe Bryant's come in now Jenkins
might be back this week, which would be interesting if
he is, and that might you know, Anyone's like, how

(47:43):
does that affect Kobe Bryant. I'm almost hearing that it
may not right. If they want to play big nickel,
they can keep because I think Tayada Acota was kind
of playing in this in the back half of the
secondary right now, he played it.

Speaker 6 (47:53):
He played in dime. Okay, they played a good amount
of dime and Okada played in the dining package. To
be totally honest, I had to look him up.

Speaker 2 (48:01):
Yeah, and we've had to do that a few times.
He's been here for three years too. Practice squad guy
comes up and down. He's one of those guys. But
is is is that that position? Know that big nickel
look and maybe a guy like love Again, he's not Hamilton,
It's a different type of player. But is that kind
of an integral part of what McDonald essentially wants to
do well?

Speaker 6 (48:22):
You would assume. I mean, obviously, when you have Kyle Hamilton,
who's six four to two twenty and a great athlete
and as essentially as essentially safety and corner trades and
can blitz, you know, he's one of those guys. He's
he's probably you'd probably say Kyle Hamilton overall is a
top fifteen defensive player in the league. I think Julian
Love is a really good player. I mean, but you know, again,

(48:44):
I'm not going to sit here and make comparis since
he does not have this size, dimension and length that
Hamilton has. But Love's a really good player. Now, if
Jenkins is back and truly back playing one hundred percent,
it'll be interesting to see what they do playing big nickel, because,
as I said, and we'll get to this in a minute,
the Cards are one of the highest percentage multiple tight

(49:05):
end offenses in the league. About forty five percent of
their offensive snaps come out of two and three tight ends.
So you're likely to see the Seahawks play a lot
of big nickel. The question is who are the three safeties.

Speaker 5 (49:19):
You know.

Speaker 6 (49:19):
What we saw with big Nickel obviously was the fact
that Brian he played on the back end, and Love,
as I said, predominantly played in the box. So you
know when they played Big Nickel, Okada was the third
safety and he played in the dime as well. Okada
would go to the bench. I assume. Who knows if
he'd even be active. We don't know the answer to
that unless he's a special teams player. I do not

(49:40):
know that. But would they play Love Brian and Jenkins
and Jenkins, Yeah, I would assume, so assume that would
be their their Big Nickel.

Speaker 2 (49:49):
And Jenkins has been a full participant in practice this
week because he comes back off the irs, we expect
to see him.

Speaker 6 (49:53):
All and he's gonna play. Yeah, So the question is
who's the box player and who plays on the back end,
because I you know Jenkins to me, he is a
good box player as well.

Speaker 2 (50:01):
Good good problem to have. They haven't had that all
year as well. Since we last spoke, and I'm sure
you addressed this with Dick. Last week they had cut
Tyrel Dotson and I want to go back just for
folks that missed it. I don't know who digs. We
replayed it a little bit and we got a ton
of great feedback. When when we had our our meeting
of the great football minds with Great Cosell and Hugh
Breedlove Millan a couple of weeks ago, and it was interesting,

(50:23):
was before the move was made. But we asked both
of I asked both of you guys, Hey, what do
they need to do? What personnelity? Both of you guys said,
Dotson isn't the answer playing at linebacker, and here it was.
We did that, and I think it was four days
later they released Tyrel Dotson. Tyree Knight comes in to
play with Jones at the linebacker position and they have success.

(50:44):
I don't know if you if Knight jumped out at
you at all, if what you saw from him, if
it made a difference between him and Dotson or not.

Speaker 6 (50:51):
Well, Knight did flash. I mean again, I wasn't charting
him on every play. I can't do that. I don't
have that kind of time. But he did flash. I've
they believe he's a better player, or they wouldn't have
made the move. You know, it always, it always strikes
me Ian when you know, because obviously you know, this
is not the only show I do, the only people
I talk to. But I always love when I say

(51:12):
something because you know everything I say, is based purely
on tape, and then I get a lot of social
media responses that's an interesting take, like I'm just giving,
you know, like.

Speaker 2 (51:21):
Opinion it up.

Speaker 6 (51:22):
Yeah, yeah, you know, I mean, and obviously talking about
Dots and you saw it as well. You watch tape
and you just and I had seen uh Dots in
play for a number of years when he had to
be a starter in Buffalo due to injury, and so
I had a background with him as well. And you know,
can you play with him? Sure, there's Look, there's a

(51:43):
lot of guys in the NFL you can line up
and play with. But you know, I knew he wasn't
going to be the answer for what they needed at linebacker,
and they obviously felt you know, I'm not in practice
every day. I wasn't in the in the OTAs in
the mini cams and training camp. But they drafted a
night in the fourth round. I thought his tape in
college I did evaluate him coming out, you know, was solid.

(52:04):
You know, I didn't he got drafted what fourth or
fifth round, probably where I thought he would get drafted
based on his tape. I didn't think he'd be a
first year starter in the league. For sure, But obviously
they liked what they had seen, because you only make
that move if you think the guy you're putting in
is better than the guy you're you're taking out. You know,
it doesn't matter whether Dodson is Ray Lewis or not.

(52:25):
If you still think he's better than everybody else, he's
going to play. But obviously they didn't think that.

Speaker 2 (52:32):
Craig Cosell joining US spots by Seattle Sider. The number
five rush offense comes to town this Sunday, James Connor
and Kyler Murray leading the way. We just talked a
lot about the Seattle defense. How do they match up
against what Arizona wants to do offensively?

Speaker 6 (52:45):
You know, I'm really glad you mentioned that about the
number five rushing defense rushing offense, because obviously everybody focuses
on Murray and he's had a very, very good season.
He's probably been as efficient as we've ever seen him
within the context of this offense, and of course he
had an offseason this year as opposed to the previous year.
But James Connor in many ways is the driving force

(53:07):
of this offense. A lot of people may not realize
he gets sixteen seventeen carries a game. And here's another stat.
Again their stats, but they mean something. He has the
second most ten plus yard carries in the league, behind
one Saquon Barkley. So not only is he a strong
inside power runner, which he is, he has natural power,

(53:29):
but their run game is pretty multiple and he breaks
some runs. Now, he may not take it fifty yards
for a touchdown, but not many people do in this league.
But he'll give you twelve, thirteen, fourteen yards at times.
And they do not have an offensive line that people
would know their names unless you really follow it closely.
I mean, maybe the biggest name is Paris Johnson, who

(53:51):
was a top ten pick in the draft, who played
right tackle his rookie year and now they moved him
to left tackle. Kelvin Beecham's been in the league for
a number of years, but beyond that, Ian I would
be hard pressed for people to name the interior three
on their own line.

Speaker 2 (54:04):
Yeah, I mean, James Connor is averaging actually right on
sixteen carries a game, one hundred and fifty nine carries
in ten games. I mean that's exactly yeah, right, that's
exactly where he's at. And it's interesting because Connor's a
he's a guy that can be a thumper, right, he's
a power back, but like you said, he'll run between
the tackles, but he'll get those big chunk plays. And
then they got a guy Murray that can take it
and tuck it and go. That's a that's hard to

(54:25):
How do you defend that when teams have had success?
What have they done? I mean it sounds like setting
the edge and being you know, well, yeah, it is
really part big.

Speaker 6 (54:32):
That's the thing about quarterbacks that can run in the
designed quarterback run game is it changes the way you
have to align and defend, and that creates some opportunities
for the offense. And the other thing too is they
play a lot out of twelve and thirteen personnel. Okay,
so what that normally means normally is that teams will

(54:52):
defend that playing their own base personnel defense. So you're
you have one less speed athletic player on the field
because you're playing your base defense. Okay, so you're you're
not playing with a nickel, You're playing with bigger bodies,
and then you get Murray on the perimeter and it

(55:12):
can be problematic. So it's a difficult offense to defend.
They've also got some really good weapons on the outside.
I mean this, all of a sudden, is actually a
pretty good offense now. Murray, because of his size, there's
certain things he'll struggle with here and there. We've seen
that throughout his career. But he's a dynamic player. He's
multi dimensional in the run game, in the past game,

(55:34):
and I think this year, for the most part, he's
been much more consistent from the pocket. He'll always a
time struggle just you know, for a number of reasons,
size being one of them. But he's been better from
the pocket this year. Yeah, and you know that's a
big factor.

Speaker 2 (55:51):
We know short quarterbacks well in this town. Now Pittsburgh
goes too, all right, So the just real quick on
to wrap up their offense because they definitely get to
the defense before we run out of time. But it's
Mark Harrison Junior. You know, he kind of gets the
headlines on the outside. But what would scare me if
I'm the Seahawks would be their tight end. Trey McBride.

Speaker 6 (56:07):
Really good player. I did him coming out of Colorado State,
loved him. Not surprised he's turned into this kind of
player in the league. And as I said, they'll play
with two and three tight ends quite a bit. But
McBride's a really good player. You can line him up attached,
and he's a good blocker in the run game, you
can split him out. He's just a really good player.
The other player who's really good. And again, this may

(56:30):
not be a high volume offense in terms of receivers
getting ninety catches, but Michael Wilson is a big, physical player.
You may remember him from Stanford from the Pac twelve. Again,
a guy that didn't necessarily put up big numbers in
college either, but he he brings kind of a physical
presence to their receiving corps. And so they've got some

(56:50):
pretty good players on the outside. It's not an easy
offense to defend.

Speaker 2 (56:55):
Seattle wants to run the football, Greg They say that
all the time. Every team in the league probably says
that at some point, unless they're coached by the late
Great May he rest in peace, Mike Leach, who wasn't
in the NFL. But everyone wants to run the football.
You know, we'll see if ken Walker gets going. We
saw Geno Smith engineer an incredible comeback in that last drive.
Maybe he's got some confidence going and look at the numbers.
The raw numbers tell me that this is just kind

(57:17):
of an okay average defense for Arizona. They're leading sack
guy as Dante Stills with just three and a half
this season. So what do they do defensively?

Speaker 6 (57:25):
Yeah, they don't have really good players other than Buddha Baker,
but they're a difficult defense because Jonathan Gannon does such
a good job sche manically and tactically. They're they're different
than a lot of defenses in the league in how
they line up on the back end. They'll often line
up with three across. They'll take their slot corner and
basically put them on the back end and line up

(57:47):
with three across. You don't know who's going to come up.
You don't know who's going to stay back. They just
don't have a pass rusher, which is why they just
recently traded for Baron Browning from the Broncos and hope
because he's athletic, hope that he can become an edge rusher.
But they just don't have a lot of good players
to rush the quarterback. So, like you said, Stills is

(58:10):
leads them with three sacks, but when you look at
what they do schem manically, They're not that easy. They
just don't have guys.

Speaker 2 (58:18):
I remember last year going down and covering the game
was the last game of the year in Arizona, and
just what jumped out at me, you know. And sometimes
you see this in person, sometimes it translates on TV.
But I remember sitting there in that stadium, which has
been kind of a house of horrors for Seattle over
the years with different things. We don't have to go
bring up Super Bowl forty eight, forty nine either, but
that the fact they played hard, Like everything that day

(58:40):
was hard. Greg, And I'm not at X's and those guys.
I don't look at the film like you do, but
I just remember looking at guys in the press box.
We're like these they have nothing to play for. Seattle
still had an outside chance for the playoffs, and these
dudes just came at you like they just came at you.
I mean, was nothing was easy offensively that day.

Speaker 6 (58:56):
Yeah, they do play hard, and you know, they have
certain guys who are kind of multi dimensional idea like
Mac Wilson. He's a guy that lines up on the ball,
off the ball, does a lot of different things for them,
you know, I mentioned Budda Baker. Everybody knows him. He's
a good player. The slock corner Garrett Williams is actually
a good player as well. He plays the majority of
the snaps. But yeah, they're they're, they're kind of they're

(59:19):
they're the opposite of the the ridiculous cliche about it's
not the x's and o's, it's the Jimmy and Joe's.
They're more about the excess and Jimmy's and the Joe's.
I like, but I like it, but it's it's, you know,
it's they're not easy. Like I said, there there's always
a couple of plays every game when I watch their
defense where they clearly for one of the better term

(59:39):
confused the offense just because they do some things tactically
that are a little different.

Speaker 2 (59:44):
They there's And then you mentioned Buddha Baker. He's a
dub product Bellevue High School here as well in Seattle.
Local guy. We also know Jalen Thompson from Washington State
as well.

Speaker 6 (59:53):
Yeah, he's a good player.

Speaker 2 (59:54):
Yeah, so a couple a couple of guys locally here.
Gino last week engineered that dry and listen, it's not
a coincidence that Bosa was out, but Abe Lucas seemed
to make a difference for Seattle. Olua Timmy comes in
steps in and play center as well. To be honest
with you, I don't know how much you watched it
all that part of the offensive line for Seattle, but

(01:00:16):
it felt like those two guys made a difference in
that offensive line for Seattle last week.

Speaker 6 (01:00:22):
Yeah. I mean I took a peek at him, you know,
throughout the game, and there were no issues with them.
It wasn't one of those where do you know, I
felt like, oh, this is a problem. You know, they
played a defense last week, and obviously Bosa did go out,
but this is a defense. When that you played the Niners,
they literally rushed four on every single play. There was
one snap in the entire game ean where they rushed five,

(01:00:43):
and that was on that final drive where it was
the tenth play of the drive and it ended up
being a Smith and a jig eight yard outcut from
the slot. I think it was the play before the
Smith thirteen yard scramble, which there was Other than that,
every drop back by Gino Smith, they just rushed their
for down linemen. So you know that was not, from

(01:01:03):
a tactical perspective, a difficult team to pass protect against.
But you know, they still on occasion had some had
some struggles with pass pro. But for the most part,
they weren't playing a difficult defense tactically in terms of
how they pressure the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
Does well Arizona blitz. Will they send extra guys even
though like like I said, the numbers aren't there necessarily,
Will they you know, you kind of talked a little
bit about they do in the back end. Will they
send extra guys on on passing plays?

Speaker 6 (01:01:32):
They will, yes, So you know that's something to be
aware of. Like I said, you know, when it comes
to pressure, they are probably in the middle of the
league in terms of blitz percentage, but they will pressure
and sometimes they'll be creative with it, so you do
have to be aware of that. But uh, you know,
like I said, they're they're they're very multiple in what

(01:01:53):
they do, particularly on the back end, and that's where
it can be confusing at times. Sometimes what you see
before the snap and even when you take this snap,
it starts to change and you just have to be
aware of that inherent.

Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
Let me and last thing for you, Greg, on the
back end when they do try to it sounds like
deception a little bit is what they try to do
in that back then? Yeah, is that inherent on a
receiver to read that a quarterback both more importantly like
what DK and JSN and Tyler are looking at, or
more important what Gino's looking at.

Speaker 6 (01:02:22):
It's both Because you know, it's funny you say that,
because it brought up a conversation I remember having years
ago when Sterling Sharp used to be in our building
all the time, and he would always talk to me
about how receivers would have to react to coverage changes.
In other words, let's say had a route called where
he had to break it off at fourteen yards right,
and he said, all of a sudden the defense changed.
He said, then you might have to break it off

(01:02:43):
at eleven yards, you know. So I mean it's in
coming upon receivers as well. It's not just the quarterback.
So receivers do have to be aware of that. I
imagine that's been coached all week because this is what
the Cardinals do.

Speaker 2 (01:02:55):
Yeah, and I think you talked about that with us
on Monday a little bit. What JSN did a couple
of routes on Sunda against the four to niners. Even
just to I had to read, made a couple read
and react a couple of times.

Speaker 7 (01:03:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:03:03):
Well, you'll have to adjust to times, you know, because
it's not you're not playing the game out of a textbook.
You're playing the game against other human beings.

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
I love it. Uh, we won't talk to you next
week with Black Friday. We got some hockey and some
other stuff going on so on the station. So we'll
give you a week off and you don't have a
week off. I know you're gonna tell me that. I
I know you don't get a bye week, you get
no weeks off. You'll listen. I won't bother you next week.
How's that? I'll bother that my.

Speaker 6 (01:03:29):
First my first week off. Let's see, when's the draft.
It'll be the week the week after the draft.

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
There you go, Well, you won't have to How about this?
This is my Thanksgiving gift to you. You won't have
to watch Jets tape next week to preview the Seahawks
and the Jets. How's that? Happy Thanksgiving?

Speaker 6 (01:03:45):
The Jets have been a little tough, particularly offense. I
watch them every week because you know, everybody always asks
me about Aaron Rodgers. Who knows. Maybe I'll take a
week off.

Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
I love it. Hey, listen, have a great holiday. We
we we appreciate you every week and we'll talk to
you in two weeks time.

Speaker 6 (01:03:58):
All right, thanks and appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
Is Greg Cosett. We'll take a break. Daily power play
cone up Rob Rang as well. On a Friday afternoon
ninety three point three KJRFM.

Speaker 1 (01:04:10):
Now back to the Washington State Beef Commissions Football Friday
with the Infernets on your home for the NFL Sports
Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.

Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
It is a Washing State Beef Commission Football Friday here
on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. Seahawks on Sunday.
Some good news No, Leonard Williams on the injury reports.
Rayshawn Jenkins should be back. Abe Lucas not on the
injury report. They have him. The final one doesn't come
out until two, but we'll keep an eye on that.
Rob Rang will join us coming up in just a

(01:04:45):
few minutes. Time I mentioned the start of the show today.
It has been an extremely difficult, challenging, frustrating week for
so many people in our area, myself included, but so
many people who had it a lot worse than than
we did. And this cyclone bomb thing that came rolling
into town and everything that kind of it brought. And

(01:05:07):
I think when it first was we were first hearing
about it, We're thinking, ah, you know, what is that
a little wind? Whatever? No, man, it was something like
we had not experienced in a long long time. Let
me check in now on the phone. We got our
good friend, my good buddy b mac. Brian mcmillany is
a chief meteorologist at Fox thirteen, my former home away

(01:05:28):
from home here at KJR. I miss you guys. I
still watch you guys every morning. B Mack. How are you,
my man?

Speaker 8 (01:05:37):
I'm good man, I'm good. It's been a heck of
a week.

Speaker 5 (01:05:40):
Hasn't it.

Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
Gee?

Speaker 9 (01:05:42):
Tuesday night was rough. We got our power knocked out
as well.

Speaker 8 (01:05:46):
That was tough.

Speaker 9 (01:05:46):
And we just got it on last night, and we
were a little concerned about today with the new round
of wind and stuff. But it panned out just like
we thought. It wasn't too bad.

Speaker 8 (01:05:57):
So so far, so good. I know there's some spots
where it's it's been a little bit.

Speaker 9 (01:06:01):
Gusty, yer like out along the coast there having some
gusty winds out that direction. Down in the south down too.
We've seen gusts between fifty and fifty five miles an
hour out in like Olympia and areas like that. But
overall things are a little bit better today. We just
got to get through today and it's going to get
better over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
That's what I was going to ask you, are we
are we out of the worst of it, because I
mean I think what we watched and you see like, oh,
here comes another round coming in Friday, Like when, like
where are we right now with all of that?

Speaker 9 (01:06:31):
I think if we can get through, I would say
the next four hours or so, we're going to be
looking good. There's still be some wind that's coming through.
This is like a different direction of wind here. We
have the easterly winds on Thursday night and those came
through the Cascade gas those pretty widespread, and then this
morning we had a similar thing out where you livy

(01:06:51):
in and out in the you know Cascade foothill areas
at this is like snow call me in North Bend
and Gold Barn and those spots. But you know, this
afternoon it's all about those normal southerly wins that we
get this time of year, and I think if we
can get through the next three or four hours, we're
gonna be looking much better.

Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
The uh, the cyclone bomb thing, I'll be honest with it.
B Mack. When I first saw that, I'm like, man,
I've sat in those meetings before. It's like, Okay, we're
gonna do this. It's it's like this is this is
We're going to a weather alert day. It's team coverage
all the way around. Uh, it's what is it still November?
Are we in sweeps? What are we doing here? But

(01:07:31):
then I saw like it wasn't just it wasn't just
you as everybody like it. My friend Shannon even though
she's a husky. We love Shannon across the street and
everybody else. It's like, okay, it's a cyclone bomb. And
then I started thinking like, like we haven't like last
time our power went out for an extended period of time,
like little glitches here and there. Right is I think
it was like two thousand and seven, So how rare

(01:07:53):
was this occurrence?

Speaker 9 (01:07:55):
This particular storm was unusually strung, so it rapidly intensified.
We call it bombo genesis. That's That's how where the
term bomb cyclone comes from, and it's when a storm
intensifies in a really really short period of time. And thankfully,
if the storm today was that storm and it's swept

(01:08:17):
up the coast like this, I mean we could be
talking about eighty to one hundred mile an hour winds
in Seattle. That didn't happen. This one stayed far enough
off shore. It still impacted us in a really big way,
but it was hundreds of miles off shore.

Speaker 8 (01:08:29):
Thankfully. If it got closer to us, we.

Speaker 9 (01:08:31):
Could be in even more dire straits. But the amount
of people whose power was knocked out about six hundred
thousand at one point.

Speaker 8 (01:08:38):
That hasn't happened since about two thousand and six. I
believe so was a This was a unique situation here.

Speaker 9 (01:08:44):
I mean, usually we don't get these strong of east
winds this time of year, and especially with a storm
like that.

Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
Can we can we be done with it for the year.
Just give me some snow that hey man, next up is.

Speaker 9 (01:08:57):
Snow, right like, that's what people want to hear.

Speaker 8 (01:09:00):
The kids will want snowy.

Speaker 9 (01:09:02):
My kids have been out of school for three days
in a row and it hasn't been fun at all.
They've been sitting in the dark. They can't even play
their iPads because we can't charge them.

Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
That's the thing, man, like, if you're doing ut I know,
Like I was thinking to myself, like it's one thing
if the kids are out of school and it's snow,
you just send them outside. Well, it's like pouring down
rain and howling winds and no power and they're just
bouncing off the walls. I'm glad my kid now on
My one daughter, she's a school teacher, so she's really
hating it. But it's like, like, just that's just the

(01:09:34):
worst possible sinner. Are we gonna get snow this year?

Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
Bud?

Speaker 9 (01:09:37):
I think, you know, this is the kind of year
where we will probably see some decent snow in the
Lowland at some point. This is a La Nina winter,
and five out of the past ten La Nina winters
we've had big time snow measuring over ten inches toll
for the winters down here in the lowest down in Seattle.

Speaker 8 (01:09:56):
So I think we will.

Speaker 9 (01:09:57):
Get something, and we may it a few rounds it.
We'll have to see how things pan out. You know,
things can change. But I think one thing that will
likely be more guaranteed. It's some decent stow up the
mountains too. I know a lot of you listen, probably
big skiers and snowboarders and all that stuff.

Speaker 8 (01:10:12):
So this should be a good year for the mountain.

Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
And that's good. And that's also good for the summer
months as well. We need that snowpack up there as well.
All right, So how Seahawks fans, we're telling them, get
get out there Sunday. Let's not be selling your tickets.
Get out there Sunday. Let's make some noise, big, huge game.
What's it gonna be like on Sunday? Out lumen Sunday
looks great.

Speaker 9 (01:10:33):
I think it'll be mostly clouded as a slight chance
for a shower, but we should be looking pretty good
for that game. Temps will be a little on the
cooler side. To wear the big puppy Seahawks jacket. I
went to the game last weekend down in San Francisco.
That was so much fun. Ye met a bunch of
Seahawks fans down there. We had a great time. I mean,
now the landscape has changed. Winning that game down in

(01:10:54):
San Francisco, now we got to bring it.

Speaker 8 (01:10:57):
Okay, we got to show them we got to.

Speaker 9 (01:10:58):
Put the fear of God into the teams coming back
home here, because I think that was a turning point
in I could feel it after that game.

Speaker 8 (01:11:05):
Everybody was jazz. It's go time.

Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Let's go get it. Let's go get one Sunday. Gino
doesn't like the rain either, so let's make sure we
don't have any rain on Sunday. Ye, Gino doesn't like
the rain at all, so we'll have a nice dry one.
And again for all the folks out there that are
still hoping their power gets restored soon, big thing is
is the PSEE and all those guys. They need to
have some decent weather and lack of wind to get

(01:11:28):
back out there. So it sounds like we're kind of
we're getting closer and closer to having an open sale
for that and getting those guys out there.

Speaker 9 (01:11:36):
Yeah, and I talked to them here yesterday and we
talked to them again this morning. It sounds like they're
hoping to get the majority of people back on by
tomorrow evening. So cross your fingers that this win quits
here soon that they can get back out there and
get those lights back on, because I'll tell you what,
nothing makes you appreciate electricity more than being without it for.

Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
A few days, especially when your kids can't charge your
devices and you got to sit there and talk to them.
You don't want to do that. What's the last thing
you want to do?

Speaker 7 (01:12:01):
Be back.

Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
You're the best. You can watch him every morning all morning.
They do like twelve fifteen hours. They do as long
a newscast in the morning at Fox thirteen as Softy
does for a husky pregame show. It's it goes on
forever and ever, right, it just never ends. It never never,
It never ends. And you know, I miss you guys man,
keep up the good work and I will I will
talk to you soon. B mack, thank you all right.

Speaker 8 (01:12:23):
Go Coogs, Go Hawks. We'll see you soon.

Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
Thanks buddy. Brian McMillan over at Fox thirteen. Just one
of the good guys out there. And so it sounds
like if you're out there and you're maybe listening on
the app right now, on the iHeartRadio app or whatever
it might be, and and you're still kind of without
power or you know, your or maybe parts of your
your community and business areas, stores, what have you, or
without power, it sounds like a that should be soon

(01:12:48):
and be as long as as b Max says, get
through the next couple three hours, we should.

Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Be getting the kids. Say, we're out of the woods.
We're almost out of the work, almost out of them.
He wouldn't commit one hundred percent. That's I wanted him
to give me a hundred percent, like, hey, it's it's over.

Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
He wouldn't do that, would he.

Speaker 3 (01:13:02):
Damn it not Mac Classic meteorologists though.

Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
Yeah, they're not going to give you. It's just good. Well,
because it's like he doesn't want me calling back on bmack.
He said it was over and massive guests coming through here.
All right, Well, hopefully it's getting better. Gosh man, it's
just it's been a hard week.

Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
Do you have power back yet?

Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
I got it last night? Yeah, I got it last night.
It was uh was it finally came back? And then
I spent all night. I woke up like four times
here and the wind hollan again last night. That's why
that's why I texted him. I'm like, dude, what's going on?
Like I thought it was over? Like my power just
came back on. I don't need it to go back
off again. I just took stuff out of a coop
or what we could save out the refrigerator and put

(01:13:39):
it back in. I don't want to go by the
way I know we break that exercise is not the
worst thing in the world. No if yeah, if you've
you know, especially the older you get and with kids
and a family, it's weird.

Speaker 3 (01:13:52):
Get some things are in there.

Speaker 6 (01:13:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:13:54):
What year is this.

Speaker 9 (01:13:56):
Four?

Speaker 2 (01:13:57):
Not twenty twenty one?

Speaker 3 (01:13:58):
No, it's not.

Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
Okay, good, well, good to know it was actually somewhat
somewhat beneficial for all this to happen. Daily power Play
next Malkin shoots waned on gold of Puts and they stop.

Speaker 6 (01:14:11):
It's Crosby Stop.

Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
This is the Daily power Play Deep Slot one timer
m Kenneth.

Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
Now Ian Fernesz Sun Sports Radio ninety three point three.

Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
Wait for kJ r FM cook little Daily power Play
today and you're home for the crack at nine three
point three. Kjr FM cracking tomorrow in La taking on
the Kings Little La Southern California. Two step La Tomorrow,
Anaheim on Monday, LA Right now third place in the
Pacific Division ten seven to three twenty three points here,

(01:14:51):
two points ahead of Seattle for that third spot. Remember
the top three teams in each division get a playoff
spot and along with the next two teams in the conference.
Based on the card, Seattle's one point out of a
wild card spot, two points out of third place. It
is really bunched up in the West.

Speaker 3 (01:15:07):
Are really good at home too?

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
They're yeah, they're good. They're five too and one at
home this season. Seattle on the road started good, then
had a bad road trip. They're three and five, but
they've beat some good teams this season. They also have
struggled on the road. I'm just glad it's not a
back to back because we know how that's gone. They've
lost all three back to backs this season. Two nothing.
So they have the day off on Sunday before they

(01:15:29):
head to Anaheim. Anaheim's not awful. They're they're five hundred
team right now. They're eight eight and two. They feel broken.
Their coach, Cronin is kind of a knucklehead.

Speaker 8 (01:15:37):
Yea.

Speaker 4 (01:15:38):
For all those young guys that have on the old school,
like the military guys.

Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
He's like, yeah, old school. Sometimes you got to make
a move with a guy like that.

Speaker 3 (01:15:48):
Yeah, Sometimes that does you say like you're speaking from me.

Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Sometimes that doesn't work in today's NHL and you got
to move on.

Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
Well, I mean, I get it.

Speaker 4 (01:15:57):
It can work from maybe you have a more veteran team,
but that team is all like teenagers and early twenties guys.

Speaker 2 (01:16:04):
Today's athletes different, Yeah, it is. Today's athlete is different.
First of all, I think there's a lot more self motivation.
Guys do a better job of keeping care of themselves
and taking care of themselves. They want to have stuff
broken down with film and analytics and stuff. They don't
need a guy just you know, you know, cussing them out.
You know what's wild. John Tortorella is has that reputation
of just being like he's actually really good with young

(01:16:27):
players and really good with the new numbers. Yes, like
like really good as well. So yeah, that's that's a tough,
tough little trip. Let's I'll tell you this. Listen, if
you're if you're without power, thirty two bar and grill
for the cracking game tomorrow and the sounders. In fact,
out of thirty two bar and grill tomorrow, if we
want to watch the game again, it starts at one o'clock.

(01:16:47):
Get out there, grabs some lunch. They got wings and
draft beer specials, and also someone's gonna walk away with
a team signed jersey as well. Hey there, So if
you're without power, without cable, withouting, without whatever, or even
if you are you have all that stuff, head out
to the thirty two bar girls, see my budd Kenny
out there. Go take go, go, have a good time
watching the Cracking game with the fellow Cracking fans out there.

(01:17:09):
I think you have to see the Sounders game on
as well at seven thirty more night.

Speaker 5 (01:17:13):
L a f C.

Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
What's preview that one buddy a chance to knock these
knuckleheads off?

Speaker 7 (01:17:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:17:17):
I think LAFC has had the Sounders numbers the last
few years, but I think this, if there is a
time to play him, it's now. Sounders matchup well against
them at this point in time. And I honestly think
and Jackson said this, and Brian actually kind of agreed
with him when he mentioned it in their interview earlier
this week, that the winner of this game probably will
win MLS Cup.

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:17:37):
I think these are the two best teams that are left.

Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
Is it this? What's is it a one game or
one game one? The first round is best? I know
it's best of three. I even had to ask Jackson
it's weird to me, like, but this is just in
whin and in when lose and done yep.

Speaker 4 (01:17:51):
And like if it's tied, it goes to extra time
in PKS, like all the whole kit and kaboodle.

Speaker 2 (01:17:55):
Okay, so it won't be like right to PKS no
oh no cool. The other thing I should mention too
my good friends at the Queen Anne Beer Hall again
and and the Moss Bay Beer Hall. Those guys also
have a bunch of stuff going on tomorrow, cracking Kings.
They've got the coops Oregon State for the PAC two Championships,
Sounders l A f C. And then if you're into this,

(01:18:17):
the hall's plural. I know, my man can't he closest
things early. He's old. He's got to get some sleep.
But if you're into this either in Kirkland and Queen
An at the Hall, we love those guys do great
partners for us. They also will be showing the Las
Vegas F one ten o'clock, staying late for that, so
that if you're into all that stuff you can you

(01:18:40):
can have a hell of a day.

Speaker 4 (01:18:41):
So if they're a casual F one fan like getting
into it a little bit though, they're fun to watch.

Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
They're fun to watch.

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
I was talking to my buddy who lives in Vegas
at the Cracking game the other night, an event right now.
He said, he said that vocals hate Oh I'm sure
just hate it, which if just like, give me the
hell here, But it makes brings a lot of money
into the community. Although, let's be honest, a Tuesday brings

(01:19:06):
money into into the Vegas I know for a fact,
because I left a lot there. All right, okay, okay,
let's do this and take a break. Rob Rang, he's
gonna join us. We'll talk about the college football weekend,
a big weekend coming out. How about Indiana Ohio State tomorrow?
Oh boy, oh baby. And he's actually I think got
a game he wants to touch it on tonight as well.

(01:19:27):
So we'll get to all that. Rob Rang previewing the
college football weekend next.

Speaker 1 (01:19:34):
Now from the Star Rentals Sports Tests, your ninety three
point three k j r FM sports headlines.

Speaker 4 (01:19:40):
Sir.

Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
Headlines are brought to you by Frostproit Cores, Light Chill.
I'll go through in a second. I got a minute
or two before we get to Rob Injury reports coming out,
good news for the Seahawks. Not great news for the
Arizona Cardinals. We'll tell you about that more in detail
in a moment before we head him. Checking with mister
Rang interesting seeing one one thing jumped out for the Seahawks.

(01:20:02):
We'll get to that in just a couple seconds. Cracking
in Action tomorrow taking on La Anaheim Monday, La Tomorrow,
twelve thirty early pregame one o'clock early face off. If
you are unable to watch, listen at home watching the
KRACK and Hockey Network. Listen here on the KRACKING Audio Network.
Head on over the thirty two bar and grill or

(01:20:23):
one of the halls Queen Anne or Moss Bang. Go
check it out there. You can also do that for
the Kog tomorrow and taking on Oregon State.

Speaker 3 (01:20:30):
Mine was on a stand there the whole day.

Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
I would Oregon States. They are it's everyday's Halloween. Down
to Corbaalace, red and orange and black. Here we go.
Coog's trying to bounce back after the lost of New
Mexico Oregon State. Thinking, be nice to score. We didn't
do that last week against air Force. It's Pack two
championship game. Big one Andrews picked Wazoo fact, Duke's minus
twelve and a half. Let's see what else we got

(01:20:51):
going on. Daniel Jones released by the New York Giants.

Speaker 3 (01:20:54):
Huh see, that's not even the weirdest part.

Speaker 4 (01:20:56):
The weirdest part is that they're starting Tommy DeVito and
not Drew Locke.

Speaker 2 (01:21:00):
What Q Nathan Bishop.

Speaker 3 (01:21:03):
They're not even trying to win, thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
Let's get him to the two o'clock our Bran's gonna
join us in just a couple of seconds. We'll ring
him up here in a second. All right, here's the
injury for This is the final one with games status
for your Seattle Seahawks. How to Lockett didn't practice. I
was limited today, but that was just nir rest in
a foot. But he hasn't been right all you.

Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
He just seeds.

Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
Sorry, Jasin's been so good, but he's gonna play. Uh
questionable Leviskus, Channelt Junior and Noah Fant Brady Russell. The
only player out for the Seahawks. Jalen Thompson, though we
talked about him a little hour ago with with Greg Cosell.
He's been battling ankle injury. He is out this week.
That's a probably the second third best player in that
back half of that defense for them behind Buddha. He

(01:21:53):
will not play. And they've also got some other guys
that are listed as questionable and they're a little worried
about linebacker Xavier Thomas, Darien Robinson, who's a defensive lineman,
as well Jonah Williams. Offensive linemen are all questionable. But
the Jalen Thompson injury not good for the for the
Mighty the Mighty Cardinals of Arizona coming up this weekend.
So yeah, back to the Giants thing outside of just

(01:22:17):
kind of keep shaking my head a little bit. How
they lost they they how they lost they being the
Seahawks to that team. It shows you how much different
Seattle is now. That's why I said, like Tomorrow's such
a big game, like even the forty nine er game,
it's Tomorrow's a or Sunday is a legit big game.
It is a different Seattle team. Abe Lucas back changes
a ton. If nothing else, Gino looks a little better.

(01:22:41):
The defense is far improved from where it was. Starting
to kind of get the Mike McDonald's suff thought. If
you missed it earlier, great COASTI did a great job
explaining what he wants to do on that defense with
Big Nickel and even with it appears ray Shawn Jenkins
coming back. I think Kobe Bryant still in the lineup.
I think they go Big Nickel and use probably use,
as he said, Julian Love in that situation again.

Speaker 3 (01:22:59):
Yep, that'll be on podcast later today.

Speaker 2 (01:23:01):
Yeah, oh yeah, perfectly. I'll put that up on the
on the podcast later. But the Daniel Jones, God, yeah,
they're not trying to win at this point. Okay, it's
just you're just not trying to win if you're gonna start,
you know, Danny's kid, Tommy DeVito, Like it just makes
no sense whatsoever. And you know, I was one of
those guys. I'm like, I wish Drew Locke was still around. Yeah, No,

(01:23:23):
it's funny though he never looked out of place when
he played, No, he didn't in the brief times he played.

Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
I think he's a good backup.

Speaker 6 (01:23:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:23:29):
I think they're just trying to figure out what and
he that's what he is though. He's a backup. Yeah yeah,
but he probably does give him a better chance than
to be don't at this point, you might as well
just kind of mail it in. Okay, big weekend in
college football coming up. We do have a little factor
fiction at two thirty five. I have settled in on
that by the way, hey, and there we go, and
it's kind of what I was whispering in your ear. Sneaky,
sneaky good. Big game out west this weekend. We'll get

(01:23:52):
that your chance win one thousand dollars. But he's ready
to go, Rob Rang, Here you go.

Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
As part of our never ending coverage of the NFL,
it's time for weekly visit with Rob Rang from Foxsports
dot com, brought to you by Ferrelli's Pizza on your
Home for the twelfth Man and the NFL. Sports Radio
ninety three point three kJ r FM.

Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
All right, welcome back in Sports Radio ninety three point
three kjr FM Friday. This is the time we check
in with our good friend Rob Rang. Thanks to Ferrelli's Pizza.
More on them in a moment, hopefully. With the frallies
are opening up around the area after the bomb cyclone
cyclone bomb, what have you? I know a lot of
most all the frallies are in the South Sound and
that's where all of our issues have been so big.

(01:24:33):
Thanks to them for their support frallies pizza dot com,
especially when sale backup. Go support local, great family owned business,
great pizza, great happy hours as well. Hi Rob, how's
it going, buddy.

Speaker 7 (01:24:43):
I'm doing very well, sir. How are you?

Speaker 2 (01:24:45):
I'm good? Hey. I never do this with you. U
tak High School football? Is there a Big three a
state playoff game tonight that I need to know about?

Speaker 7 (01:24:52):
There's a nassive football game tonight. Ian O Day, who is,
of course, one of the more highly acclaimed schools in
the entire state, has been for an awful long time.
It's going to be playing against my Mount Tahoma Thunderbirds
at Memorial Stadium six forty five pm kickoff. I'm very
excited about that. Mount Toma returned to the state tournament

(01:25:13):
for just, you know, the first time since the nineteen
seventy nine nineteen eighty back to back state champions So
last year was the first year that we were back
to the playoffs. This year we did two years in
a row, so we are hoping that we are here
to stay.

Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
I am an ode lum, but I'm going to tell
you this. I think it's awesome that you have challenges
down there at Mount Tahoma for sure, and to see
that that school, that program rise up like that is
really awesome to see. Man, So best of luck, enjoy
that tonight. Probably too early to talk about the pro
prospects in that game, so we'll move on from that.

(01:25:48):
Brum perduw Michigan State tonight. Do we need to worry
about that at all?

Speaker 7 (01:25:53):
Well, the reason why I think that it's interesting, it's
just because we've been talking about the Seahawks have had
their problems of course along the interior of the offensive line,
and Produe specifically have as a center, and I think
is interesting. Six foot five, three hundred and five pounder
guess hertwig. He wears number fifty three. Obviously he's the
center and he's going to have to follow. But he's

(01:26:15):
a five year starter and in my experience and talking
to the you know, previously University of Washington coaches Ryan
Grubb and Scott hunt Day, they always preferred a bigger,
more athletic interior offensive lineman. Gus Hartwig has that type
of ability. He's a five year starter of produce, so
again he's intriguing. And then on the defensive side of

(01:26:36):
the ball for Purdue, Hydrian Jenkins six foot one term
fifty pounder you know, over his career, and he is
incredibly productive. He's just Stay's six fifty but forty two
career tackles for loft, twenty two sacks over his career,
very explosive edge rusher. So he is interesting at Michigan State.

(01:26:56):
But it hasn't been a very good season here of
Michigan or Michigan's day Doc Smith, who previously, of course
was the Oregas date hand coach. He's got some work
to do himself. But they've got an inside linebacker that
I think is an interesting Jordan Turner number seven. There
was Schonarsi transfer. He also is a multi year starter
going back to his time in Madison. He also is

(01:27:17):
a player that can make a lot of plays and
allowed it for a ways twenty two career tackles from
last eight sacks, four interceptions, so he can drop back
into coverage as well as Pristuda passion.

Speaker 2 (01:27:27):
Rob rang joining us here courtesy of Ferrelli's Pizza Ferrellispizza
dot com. Before I talk about some of the Saturday games,
Rob Olwa Timmy had a nice game for Seattle for
the Seahawks on Sunday in San Francisco, and there have
been so much and has been so much talk about
that particular position for Seattle. O'Connor Williams decides to retire.

(01:27:50):
You know, when we spoke last week, we didn't know
that that was the case just yet. But he retires,
Ola Timmy gets thrown back into the fire. I think
he was a guy you were fairly high on. I
know I thought that the guy was going to step
in and be the center this season. He did. He's
the former Remington winner as the top center in the
end and the college football a couple of years ago.
I wasn't surprised. I'm also surprised more that they just

(01:28:12):
didn't give much of a run a chance. It's only
one game, But what could Seahawk fans expect from him?
He was a mid round pick. There was a reason.
I don't know why he was a fifth rounder, But
why was he a fifth rounder? And what can we expect?

Speaker 7 (01:28:26):
Well, the biggest reasoning he is just because of the
size restraints. I mean, he is basically viewed as a
center only type of a guy because he's he's got
kind of a steady frame to him. He's six foot
two and a half. He's three hundred and twenty pounds.
You know, typically you want guards to be more six
foot four, six foot five, you know, and he doesn't
have that type of a frame. But you mentioned the

(01:28:48):
fact that he was a Remington Award winner. I mean
he did that in his only season at ann Arbor.
Previously had played, you know, a couple of different spots,
and the fact that he was able to come in
and be so successful so quickly for a team that
obviously wound up winning the national championship a couple of
years ago and was won won the award as far

(01:29:12):
as having the best offensive line in all of college football,
the Joe Moore Award. He was one of the biggest
reasons for that. I saw against the forty nine ers,
the instincts, the physicality, the quickness, you know. One of
the things that he had demonstrated at Michigan where I
really thought that he would be able to come in
and help the seatfps was in the running game. Where
I was more impressed, frankly against the forty nine ers

(01:29:34):
was in pass protection. He was spectacular. Just the communication
I thought was a huge stuff, a step up from
what we saw from Connor Williams over the last couple
of weeks. And I know there's some out there who
are criticizing the a Timmy for the snap that went
through Geno Smith's hands, but you know, having watched the
All twenty two tape, to me, it was pretty clear
that had the ball not deflect it off of Gino
Smith's hands, it would have hit him in the chin.

(01:29:56):
I mean, the snap was fired back to him, but
it was accurate. So I think Timmy. I said it
then when the Seahawks drafted him, I'll say it now.
I think that he is a future quality starter in
the NFL. Not a Pro Bowl caliber player, but a
guy that I think that you can win with, and
to me, it is somebody that the Seahawks fans should
be excited about. I thought that he was arguably the

(01:30:17):
MVP of that game. Obviously Gino Smith, Devil Witherspoon, etcetera, etcetera.
They deserve the credit, but ola with Timmy as well
as of course theyve Lucas and right Tackle. That to
me was the biggest reason why the Seahawks were able
to emerge for Santa Clair with that victory.

Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
Well, and the thing too, is that that. Yeah. First
of all, snap, I think it was a Greg Olsen
on the on the collar of that day. I mean
he was saying that like he's got to catch that.
That's on Geno. But what a big bonus it would
be is if they found a guy over the next
few games that could play center and and then they
can focus in on building those guard positions back up

(01:30:50):
and to go with the two young tackles, all of
a sudden, things could look a lot better for the
Seahawks team if we and you're right with the position versatility.
You know, we've heard that when they've screed ash him
this week this year, it's like, yeah, we're gonna he's
not gonna play. Because Sundell can play guard, tackle, and center.
He's a better option in terms of you know, can
only you can only dress X number of guys a games.
So that makes sense. All right, let's get to it.

(01:31:12):
Saturday tomorrow, Number five Indiana, number two Ohio State nine
AM on Fox. Here we go. What a juicy one.

Speaker 7 (01:31:21):
Yeah, it's an exciting game. Indiana, who's just playing such
incredible football. Thank you give them al awful lot of credits.
They have got two of the most dynamic players in
all of the Big Ten certainly and in the quarterback
corters work. We've talked about him before, six foot three,
two hundred and twenty pounds, and this is, you know,

(01:31:42):
one of those dual threat quarterbacks. He's got twenty one
to four touchdown to interception ratio this season. He's got
a seventy one to twenty touchdown to interception ratio over
his entire college career. That's going back to when he
was playing at Ohio you know. So of course now
he's going to Ohio State, so in some ways, it's
kind of a homecoming type of a game for him.

(01:32:04):
And as I mentioned, he's a duel threat guy. He's
got eight hundred and forty five rushing yards and thirteen
touchdowns over his career as well, so he can make
people miss. He has plenty of armed talent accuracy as
well as arm strength, and then again that classic size
six foot three to two hundred and twenty pounds. He
is not an elite prospect. I don't want to portray
him as being a first round caliber player, but I

(01:32:26):
do believe that he can absolutely be in the mix
for a Day two selection. Prain, maybe he plays well
in this particular game, gets himself in vite to the
Senior Bowl. To me, he is one of the more
intriguing senior quarterback prospects out there. I'd be remiss if
I didn't mention the pass rusher Michale Kamara. He was
a player that I listed on an article we talked
about a couple of weeks ago as far as some

(01:32:46):
of the rising prospects around the country. This is a
James Madison transfer. Came to Indiana and he had been
very productive as a sacker at the lower level, but
now he is leading the Big Ten with nine and
uns half sacks. That gives him twenty one in just
three years of college football. The same thing we talked
about before with the outside linebacker from Purdue six and

(01:33:10):
fifty pounds that might be even bigger than what Mikhail
Kamara possesses. But Ian he has got a closing burst
to him that kind of reminds me of the Seahawks
boy A Maffe. It's not just about the sacks. This
guy's got seven forced fumbles over his career. So again,
when he gets close to the quarterback, he closes immediately

(01:33:30):
on him, supposes them and is able to knock the
ball free. So Indian Hoosiers has some real firepower. That said,
the Ohio State Buck guys are going to lead all
of college football this year in terms of how many
players are drafted in twenty twenty five. They are absolutely loaded.
We've talked so much about j T. Tueyula Moola. We've
talked about Jeremiah Smith, the freshman wide receiver, Imka Buca,

(01:33:54):
the senior wide receiver out of Stilicum. You know, those
are the superstars everybody talks about. But the defensive line
is absolutely loaded, not just j T. They got defensive
tackle six to three and twenty pounder number ninety one,
Tyleek Williams, who may wind up being the very first
Ohio State Buck Guy selected this year. Denzel Brooke at corner,
Jack Sawyer at defensive end number thirty three Ian. He

(01:34:17):
reminds me a little bit of Grant Wistrom, another former Seahawk,
former Los Angeles and Saint Louis. Ram doesn't have the
greatest of an athletic ability, but he is just a passionate,
hard nosed type of a football player. So a couple
of guys there, the running backs that got the too deep.
They're both going to be NFL draft picks. Number thirty
two Trayveon Henderson, Number one, Quinn shot Jenkins. They have

(01:34:41):
a safety who might just be the best safety in
all in college football, but he's only a true sophomore,
Caleb Downs number two, who transferred to Alabama Ian. I
could go on and on and on about how talented
the Ohio State buck guys are. That's why I think
they're ultimately going to win this game and quite possibly
be a national title winner when it's all said and done.
But again, this is about as good as it gets.

(01:35:02):
Number five Indiana going in to face and then number
two Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (01:35:07):
Buckeye Rob ring Brocha by Ferrelli's for Alas Pizza Forlispizza
dot com. We have not talked Arizona State at all
this season, and we've maybe talked a little bit about BYU.
But number fourteen BYU, number twenty one Arizona State. This
is a massive game in the Big twelve. Who are
you watching? In that game?

Speaker 7 (01:35:24):
There's a couple of players and this is like my
all underrated game. You know, there's a lot of people
nationally who aren't paying much attention to BYU or Arizona State.
But as you said, it's a huge game in terms
of the Big twelve rankings, and one of these teams
is a real chance to wind up getting into the
tournament this year. For first, for BYU, they've got a
defensive lineman, Tyler Battie six foot five, two hundred and

(01:35:46):
sixty five pounds. Now that's more of an NFL defensive end,
but they move him inside to play defensive tackle as well.
He's number ninety two and as I mentioned, six foot five,
two hundred and sixty five pounds, But he also is
a pretty darn dynamic athletes and scouts on the road
are telling me he's gonna wind up running in the
mid four sixes. He has not been especially productive so

(01:36:08):
far this season ian but last week BYU lost their
first game, but don't blame it on Battie. He had
either tackle in a half for loss in the loss
to Kansas. Again, He's a guy that his versatility, his power,
his instincts I think are going to be really intriguing
the NFL teams. Alazera State features a running back or

(01:36:30):
a linebacker or every just about every other position. Punter
I mean Cameron Scattabo played just about everywhere. I remember
scouting him when he was just to you know, playing
Sacramento State, five eleven, two hundred and twenty five pounds,
and he reminds me of a Kyle hughescheck or a
Taysom Hill type of a do everything Nick Blore. I'm

(01:36:50):
talking to old Seahawks, you know, guy that produced you
anything and everything for you. He is an absolute bulldozer
as far as a running back. And he just be
the most instinctive football player and all of college football
right there, Lola Travis Hunter. Of course we talked about
so many times with Colorado, so again, to me, this
is the all anonymous kind of a game, all underrated

(01:37:12):
tip of the game, with some really quality NFL prospects
and two good programs that were very much on the
up swing in the Big twelve.

Speaker 2 (01:37:19):
Is Cam a guy that houses receiving abilities.

Speaker 7 (01:37:23):
He can catch the ball. I mean, he's the guy
that you know he catches the ball well, he looks
like a natural receiver out of the backfield. He has
some one handed catches. I remember back at Sack State
that really got me excited about him back when I
thought that, hey, no one in the NFL is going
to be pay attention to this guy, and then of
course the transfer the Arizona State winds up gating the
Paul Horning Award. Is the most versatile player in all

(01:37:46):
of college football a year ago, So very much the
secret is out in camp' scattabo.

Speaker 2 (01:37:51):
You want to quickly touch on Washington State Oregon State,
I'm thinking, well, cam Ward and Damian Martinez will be
the two headliners were both at Miami right now. So
who are you watching in that game at four on
the CW.

Speaker 7 (01:38:01):
Well, there's a couple of guys, and certainly for Washington State,
you got to have to start the conversation with John Mattier.
I mean, he is just really an intriguing player. We
mentioned before Curtis Roar to Indiana. I'm talking about duel
threat quarterbacks. I mean John Mattier twenty six to six touchdown,
the interception ratio so far this season, twelve more on
the ground, six foot three, two hundred and twenty pounds,

(01:38:22):
can put people on their backside when they try to
lower their shoulders to tackle them. And of course he's
got great shake and Baker lousiveness to him. So really
intrigued by him the wide receiver UNLV transfer Kyle Williams. Obviously,
the PAC twelve is not the deep league that it
once was, but still his eight hundred and seventy two
yards and eleven touchdowns so far this season do lead

(01:38:43):
the PAC twelve, so that combination is certainly interesting. And
speaking of Pac twelve leaders, you know, of course, this
is the PAC twelve title game. Essentially, the running back
for Oregon State Anthony Hankerson, five foot eight, two hundred
and three pounds, so he's kind of a short, squatty guy,
but he has lightly quick eight hundred and eighty nine
yards fourteen touchdowns, and when you're considering these two hundred

(01:39:05):
and three pounds, you would think that he's more of
like a scat back. Doesn't get the ball very much.
I mean, you had thirty rushing attempts a couple of
weeks ago, so he can be that bel cow back
when O're gonna stated was asking to do.

Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
So Rob what you got up at Fox sports dot com.

Speaker 7 (01:39:21):
Actually I took the week off because the wife and
I are possibly moving, and so we're looking at some
different places in the Tanino area and you kind of
give some a little bit some land and some you know,
some property that we might be able to kind of
enjoy as we're getting a little bit older and a
little bit less into the city life. So much, but
took the week off. But the last article I had

(01:39:42):
up there was a mock draft oga talked about before
or listed the seahawkss taking the aforementioned JT. Touey Molaloa
from Ohio State. And the next article I can tell
you right now, I'm already starting to do the film
on It is going to be a deep dive feature
on the Ohio State Buckeye freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith

(01:40:03):
six foot three, three hundred excuse me, six foot three,
two hundred and fifteen pounds. He is among the nation's
leading touchdown catchers so far. I'm fascinting to see how
he does this week against Indiana and in the big matchup,
and of course next week in the game against Michigan.

Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
Great stuff, Mack drafts, we always love those. Go check
it out Fox sports dot com look for Rob rang.
We will talk to you probably in two weeks. With
Thanksgiving next week, we'll talk to you in a couple
weeks time. My friend, Thank you, thank you, Ian sick
care that is Rob Rang We'll take a break. Factor
