Speaker 1 (00:00):
But Phil is just a tool. He's just an absolute tool.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
God, I used him.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Man.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
You know, I remember when I worked in When I
was working in Portland, we were pretty tight with the
Nike golf guys. They had a bunch of stuff with
us and charity stuff. And I remember those guys telling
us way back and like this would have been like
two thousand and three, two thousand and four ish, Like, man,
this guy is the biggest phony in the world and
people are gonna find out someday what kind of phony
he is. He's a greasy son of it. And all

(00:25):
these things you know what they were, right, they were?
And I always thought, ah, you're just mad because he's
a cowllaway guy all that. No, he's he's kind of greasy.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
All right.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Uh, here we are on a Friday. We're gonna do
a couple of things today. One coming up in a second,
we're gonna we're gonna do I Now, I'll be honest
with you. I did not hear the Julio Rodriguez interview.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Okay, Okay.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I heard about it, and then I know Mark played
some stuff and didn't like Julio or something. I don't
want to put words in his mouth, but I kind
of got I know, there was some some stuff there,
pretty critical, pretty critical, and a lot of people people
are critical of who we talked about. We talked about
this in a while ago. We'll get to that. Coming
to the next thing. We got some long form cuts
we're going to play and kind of jump into who
you know who and what Julio Rodriguez is. Okay, we'll

(01:10):
do that coming up in a minute. The Drew Lock
thing is fascinating, Yeah, for a lot of different reasons. Uh,
I want you know, Jamon Miller's visiting the Seahawks, got
a thirty visit for the Seahawks. The quarterback from Alabama
who you know can't hit the broadside of a barnyard,

(01:31):
but physically he's got the tools, you know, through the
roof type of football. Just can't throw football. You can
throw it, just not at not where he wants to right.
He always says about quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
The essence of quarterbacking, I remember this distinctive one.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Do you remember what it is? Yes, go for it.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
The essence of quarterbacking is the ability to throw a
football when it's supposed to be thrown where it's supposed
to be thrown. And at the time is at the
correct time sposed.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
To accurately on time? All right, where when and accurately
et cetera. Yeah, and Milrow can throw a football, but
the rest of those parts just don't come into play.
And that's kind of the you know, And there's there's
guys throughout sprinkled throughout the draft after the first couple guys.
And I'll be honest with you, I know, Mark just
loves himself from cam Ward. You know, I don't know

(02:20):
if you heard the stuff a minute ago with the
guy from from Vegas. Yeah, and the guy's like, yeah, man,
I saw cam Ward just you know, go eight to
thirty two against you know, UCLA one game. Yeah, I
saw that. Yeah you did. I saw that. You play
into water down crappy acc this year, now, cam Ward
is the tallest short person this year. Yeah, shaduor Sanders

(02:42):
is the second tallest short person this year. We can't
use the other word, right, you know what I'm saying, Yeah,
that doesn't make you tall, no or good? Yeah, so
maybe camp and listen by all acounts. Camore is pretty
good guy. I you know, I people that dealt with
him say he's really good. Guy at Wazoo. That's I'm
just he would not have gone. You know, we've talked

(03:04):
about this with Rag before. He would not even be
a first round pick this year. Yeah what last Yeah,
neither what she do or Sanders.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
So then that tells you to drop off from those
guys to the next group of quarterbacks. It's pretty significant. Now,
does this mean the Seahawks for sure won't draft a quarterback? No,
it doesn't, of course not. We can't make a definitive
statement right now. But when you have hal under contract,
Locke under contract, and Sam Donald under contract, I'll check
in the break about how I don't Maybe they get

(03:34):
out of his cat. He's got a rookie deal, so
probably they can get out of his contract from next
to nothing dead money wise. But you're not gonna have
four quarterbacks on the roster, and John Schneider since he's
been there, has never kept three quarterbacks on the roster.
I'm gonna take, you know, the coaches out of it.
It's Carol slash McDonald. I don't know. It feels like

(03:55):
it's leaning towards not taking a quarterback. Doesn't mean they won't,
doesn't privot them from doing it.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Twenty twenty five release slash trade. If it was pre
June first, the dead cap would be zero and you'd
save one point one million dollar.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
You could get out of it for nothing for xam.
Hell okay, okay, all right, So maybe that's what they're
gonna do, is just turf how keep lock and maybe
dropped a young guy. Maybe Okay, that makes sense.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
But even even if you do that, like I know,
there's a text to come in you. Oh, you always
have to have three quarterbacks during training camp. Yeah, but
they don't have to be like three guys. Trust me, man.
They bring in some slappies there that you.

Speaker 6 (04:29):
Watch play and you're like whatever, buddy, like ion boy, kid,
My guy, Ryan Blair, the Northwest Conference player of the
Year at Witworth last year, is better than some of
the slappies they bring in here from wherever the hell
they bring them in from.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
So no, no, no, no, no, no, okay, uh, here's
what we got coming up. I'm I'm gonna talk Khulio
with you. Yeah, we haven't had it because there's a
bigger picture here and we touched it on if you
remember with the Molly Up guys, we'll kind of revisit
that from a couple of weeks ago. Here's some of
the stuff he said the other day to UH, to
Softy and to Hugh when he was in for for
fame this week. So we do that coming up next,

(05:02):
big weekend series for the Mariners, and then rang talking
draft four nine, four to five one is the text
line Texas and we've got a draft or sorry, a
master's update for you right now.

Speaker 7 (05:14):
Live from the R and R Foundation Specialist broadcast studio
back to Ian Fernetz, powered by Seattle's closest sports book,
SNOWP Call me Casino on Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ R FM.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
The Memphis Grizzlies announced that Jalen Wells is out for
the season. Memphis Grizzlies rookie, former Memphis Grizzlies for Memphis
Grizzlies swingman who's from the from La Zoo. He uh

(05:58):
ranks first and three point field goals made first, and
free throw percentage first and plus miles first, and offensive
rating second and net rating third, in free throws made
fourth and scoring among rookies, had a good chance for
Rookie of the Year, good chance at Rookie of the Year,
and I still does and and it is definitely an
All rookie team player. Yeah yeah, not bad for a
second round pick. No, did you see the play?

Speaker 2 (06:18):
I did not.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Actually, I'm trough to find it.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Let me look it up.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Uh I heard it wasn't good. He went in for
a dunk and got hit. Oh, here we go. M
you see you even find it for me? I'm not
gonna I got I got a radio show host, I
guess here.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
So, and you got to be part of it too,
so we'll figure out later. Does it antet hit him?
Not NBA idiots? No, it's uh, it looks like you
find it.

Speaker 6 (06:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I got kind of a slow mo thing of it. Oh, yeah,
it's less. It's from the Hornets. They play against the Hornets.
Oh okay, you could tell the guy kind of held
up as soon as he saw him go up to
the dunk. But it's just he landed. It wasn't I
don't think. Okay, all right, let's uh.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
I want to get into a little bit of Julio
Rodriguez so softy and he had him on the other
day and in full transperency. I didn't listen to it.
We had a hockey game. I was getting ready for that,
and I didn't want to call a raw reaction now. Yeah,
So I told Andrews, I said, I want to we
have some time today and I wanted to kind of
take a listen to some of the highlights of it
and comment on it and comment on Julio as a whole,

(07:28):
because for whatever reason, he's kind of a polarizing figure.
He's kind of a lightning rod in this town. And
I don't want to say he's definitely not the same
level as ownership or to Poto, but he does seem
to take a fair share of shrapnel and strays from

(07:49):
folks when things aren't going well for the Mariners. And
the reality is part of that is because he is
the guy that you need to count on to be
your best player, right, not not the catcher and nobody
else when.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
It comes to the territoriess, Like, haven't been quarterback for
the Seahawks, Right.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
You're this high paid centerfielder, right, and they've made a
long term commitment to you, and you have the abilities
the talent to be great. He's not great yet, no,
but he has that ability and he has that upside.
Anders you hate baseball, guy, I know you hate average

(08:29):
spatting average.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Oh god, especially at this point this season.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Okay, but but I'm looking at his career. Yeah, he's
a career two seventy five hitters.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Yeah, that's really good.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Right, I mean, he's a career two seventy five hitter.
His WAR in his career, which I'm gonna get to
comparison for other Mariners and other players in a second,
is sixteen point five. And he's been a full time
player in Major League Baseball going on. This is his
fourth year, fourth year, and his WAR is a sixteen
point five.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
He is a two time top ten MVP voting candidate,
one time top five. So rookie of the Year.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Let me get back to some of the stuff in
a second, and we'll play some of the cuts. But
two weeks ago on MOLLI wat Monday, we brought this
up because we had conversation with the weekend. It was
the first weekend of the season when they're scuffling against
the athletic, the homeless Athletics, and there was stuff you
saw online, yes, Anders, that was critical of Julio. I

(09:28):
know you. You took it probably differently than I did. Yeah,
you feel like there's some racial undertones to it.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
No, I don't necessarily think racial. I think it's more
just it goes with the personality of Latino players.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
I think flamboyant. Yeah, flamboyant, and especially.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
When your team's not doing well, that can come off
as like, oh, he's doesn't care or yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Okay, so that because my my pushback to you that
and and even now would be the most popular players
in the history of this franchise have not been Caucasian Americans.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
No, they're not.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
I mean Ones, Japanese, the designated hitters Latin, if Jus
African American. We'll go through the list, right. I think
I'm guessing the most popular picture. I don't know, Maybe
I'm just biased.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Is Felix fix right, I mean, but yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Yeah, screw him. He wanted you know what. I don't
like guys that want out. Man, I'm telling you. That's
just me with you. I will never change my tone
on that. I Felix could have left and he didn't.
Felix could have left and he didn't. That's why he's
my favorite period end of story. Yeah, could have left,
but he didn't. Yeah, especially not those years. I'd probably

(10:40):
if I was advising him, I probably would have told
him to leave.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, so.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Let's let's start with this one. Julio gives his general thoughts.
This is what Softy and here the other day on
where the team is right now. This is done by
the way, on Tuesday before they lost, and then once
they split the next two games. So it's probably still
accurate because they split the next two games. Felix on
or Julio on where they think team is right now.

Speaker 8 (11:00):
We're playing really good ball games against really good teams,
like the hottest teams in baseball, and like we're right there,
like next to neight with them.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
So like that, okay, that we lost some games, Okay,
you can see it in that way, but at the.

Speaker 8 (11:14):
Same time, you can see how we were playing those
games and how we were competing in those games.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
And like, if we go back to.

Speaker 8 (11:20):
The series with the Giants, let's say we'll put up
we'll put up a lot of runs. He's just like
they just had a really good team and like they
were able to come on top and like all that
happened after the ninth inning.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
So it's like the same thing.

Speaker 8 (11:33):
Like if we're playing at home and like those games,
like the whole story will have been different, and we
probably have had like three three other wins, but you know,
they I took my caps on for them.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
But you know, at the.

Speaker 8 (11:46):
Same time, I recognize the effort that that wouldn't put
it in and like how we like kind of kept
putting pressure like throughout the whole game against you know,
every single game that we.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Have been playing.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
They've played six one run games and two other two
run games, and I think two of the three run
games a lot of close games. They play a lot
of close games, So you know, I think they played
the Giants from their red hot.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
I wouldn't, Julio. I wouldn't put the athletics in any
kind of category of being anything would But uh, and
Houston's awful. Okay, so let's just let's we we you know,
Houston's awful. San Francisco's good. Detroit lost a series. I
guess it's losing series of Detroit as a Mariner thing,
so who knows what that is. But yeah, I think

(12:31):
I liked I didn't mind that answer because I like
the fact there's a little half you know, half geky
positive it's early. I kind of mind that answer. Uh,
this is where he think his thoughts on his where
his personality is right now.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
I mean I feel good. I feel I feel really
good on the play obviously like.

Speaker 8 (12:46):
He's earlier, but at the same time, like, you know,
I feel like with a really good rhythm, and I
feel like, you know, I'm having a lot of competitive
by bats, and like I've been able to drive the
ball out the field a few times and I think
it is the most I've done this early.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
So I feel very i feel very happy.

Speaker 8 (13:03):
Where things I add and I'm just like, I'm just
looking to keep building on on what I'm doing right
now and just keep helping the team win. And that's
just the type of player I am, and that's what
I'm I'm I'm looking forward to continue to do.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
All right, we'll revisit that one a second. I want
to get to number three here when he answers h
question about what his mindset is when he's riding the ballparking,
what specifically he needs to do.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
I mean, the only thing you just said it, you know,
like win.

Speaker 8 (13:29):
You know, that's I feel like at this point, I
feel like that's the only thing that truly matters, you know,
how to how you prepare yourself to win, Like you said, like,
I'm you know, I'm fortunately enough like to be able
to you know, play center field for this team on
a regular basis, But like that doesn't change my mentality
or anything that I'm.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Trying to accomplish.

Speaker 8 (13:50):
I feel like everything I do throughout the day and
to prepare myself and everything, you just have one you
know focus. He's just like kind of help the team
win on that now, you know, and like that just
it and like you you kind of started learning more
about like your routines and like yourself, but the teams
that you you like to do the things that you.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
Don't like to do. And I just feel like that's where, like.

Speaker 8 (14:12):
You know, experience plays in that you know, been doing
something for for x amount of time, you you learn
more about the things that you're doing about yourself too.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
So yeah, that's how that's how I feel. And like
that that. I feel like that's kind.

Speaker 8 (14:27):
Of where I have learned more about myself and my
routines and things like that, and like that helped me
more to to be able to win for with this team.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
I'm not sure why this guy has ever criticized outside
of his slow starts. Yeah, his slow starts, I think
are are. I think that's something that we can look at.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
And you know, he.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Approached spring training differently this year, took more at bats, uh,
And I remember hearing Rick talk Rick Riz talk about this,
that he was taking at bats in minor league spring
training games with nobody around. Nobody knew he's going to
be there like miners did obviously, but he got as
many app bats in even ones that weren't in Cactus
League that he could. So he changed his routine, try

(15:13):
to do something different. I find a hard of a
criticized Platus says he wants to win. I especially in
this sport, you know, where it's it's kind of about
getting the money.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
And it's as individual as a team sport.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
It's because you're judged on what your numbers are exactly
more so than any other sport.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
You're right, And.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
I think we're all waiting for the breakout, breakthrough, like
just like, wow, he's having that year because he hasn't
put it together start to finish yet necessarily, even when
he had those first two years that were really good
and he's you know, getting MVP votes and all that
kind of stuff. But but let me just throw some
things at you that are Julio and four five. One

(16:01):
you guys tell me is is he on the right
track or do you want more? Because there's a couple
of things that he has done in his first three
years twenty home runs, twenty stolen bases each of his
first three seasons. There's two players in Major League Baseball
history they have gone twenty twenty in their first three years.
The other one was Bobby Witt Junior. Most people think
he's a superstar.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
He already is there?

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Yes, okay, well he's he's done this. Those two of
the only guys that have done that right twenty twenty
the first three years, three twenty twenty seasons, and I
expect more from him on both those numbers. I think
those are low numbers, but just for context only, only
Alex Rodriguez with three twenty twenty seasons has ever done that.

(16:42):
For Seattle, Griffy played here for a long time, by
the way, like a really long time.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Became one of two players in Major League Baseball with
seventy five home runs and seventy five stolen bases through
the first three years of his career. The other one
is Bob with Junior. Again, superstar.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
There's a slight caveat, I think to the stolen base numbers,
specifically because of the changing of the rules. But still,
those are the two guys, and the fact that no
one else has done that even in this three year
period tells you that it's it's a rare territory.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Let's talk about war Okay, three to four considered to
be pretty good.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Yeah, that means you're a good everyday player three to
four for a year.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Yeah, first season. Yeah, if you're four to five, you're
an all star player. Yes, like really good. Three seasons
for Julio fifteen point nine war almost a sixteen WARF
through his first three seasons. That's the forced fourth most
by a center fielder the first three seasons. The other
guys that are ahead of him, I don't know who

(17:46):
this guy, Oscar Charleston is the nineteen twenty then a
Negro league guy. But let me not well, yeah, because
they started getting their numbers in Yeah, Okay. The other
two guys, some guy named Joe DiMaggio and some guy
named Mike Trout. Interesting, Are they good?

Speaker 2 (18:03):
I think so?

Speaker 1 (18:03):
Are they good at baseball? I think anders? Are they
good at baseball?

Speaker 2 (18:06):
I think so? So that's in their first three years.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
First three years, okay fifteen point nine, now Trout nineteen nine,
Demagio eighteen eight. But he's number number four on that list. Yeah,
the center fielders are day good. That's not the easiest
position to play.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
And there's an argument he's the best center fielder in
baseball right now, and now I know he's still not
and I agree with people that say he's not quite
to that superstar status, but he's on that trend. But
Aaron Judges moved to right field, he's no longer a
center fielder. Mike Trout has also moved to right fielder.
He's no longer a center fielder.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Let's played the last one. Just number four. I just
want to play number four. He touched on the Robles
injury and what he needs to do to make up
that for that loss.

Speaker 8 (18:47):
I mean obviously, like Mike Dods, I mean, like he's
very sad.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
You know, that's my that's my homie.

Speaker 8 (18:52):
Like we we play, we start playing together obviously last
year when he got here, but you know, we were
able to a really really good relationship. And it's sad,
you know, very very sad. But at the same time,
you know, we gotta we have a season to play
and we gotta you know, that's not just me, but
like everybody on the lineup has to do something because

(19:13):
he was a big, big piece for our team, and
you know, we gotta adjust, we gotta adjust, and like,
uh understand that he's not gonna be able to play,
but we have to play for him now, and everybody
kind of pig pig pig each other up with that,
and I know the whole team feels a little bit
down with it, but like I think we all know
that we got to continue to push forward. And like

(19:35):
for me, like if it's body on the lead off,
I feel like I'm not gonna change the type of
hitter I am.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
I'm gonna be a dangerous hitter.

Speaker 8 (19:43):
Every time that I stept on the field, all on
the boys box, and I just that's gonna continue to
be my mentality.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
M he He says all the right things. Yeah, you
tell me what the point is you brought up earlier
when you're putting these together. That was an interesting one.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Yeah, So the biggest the couple things that I noticed.
Number one, I can't really hear any excuses in his
in his answers about and he even said, I think
it was the second one before we went to and
when he was talking about how he is personally right now,
he says, I feel good at the plate on it,
and now I'm hitting the ball out of the ballpark

(20:22):
more than I ever have at this point in the year.
Shows he's aware of his slow starts. I'm sure he is, obviously,
but the fact that he talks about that and kind
of is knowing that's something he needs to improve, I
think is a huge step for him. And then the
other thing that I could tell because I probably should
have put the answer the question that Hugh said, because
it hughes question right after that answer was okay, so

(20:45):
you feel like you're doing what it takes to give
the team wins? What specifically like he he he asked
him specifically what it takes from you, and then Julio's
answer went a little more generic, even after Hugh tried
to narrow it down little bit. So that to me
tells me that Julio is he's still twenty four years old.
He's still struggling for someone to kind of show him

(21:08):
the ins and outs of everyday baseball, whether it's from
the coaching side, whether it's from the player's side, a
veteran who they've notoriously gotten rid of a bunch of
them in the last couple of years. I think he
needs someone to show him like, Okay, you need to
work on this specifically, not come in and change everything
you are as a baseball player, but did the little things.
So they're missing a leader, yeah, And I think that

(21:30):
kind of shows with what they've done with the roster
the last couple of years.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
And I'm going to be very careful here because I
really used to get pissed at people and I'm not
seeing you or me or right, right, but I used
to really get pissed at people that tried to tell
me what they thought about the Seahawks, right, and the
locker room and the locker room, you know, like what's
going on. Well, first of all, none of us are players,
so we're not in the locker room all the time.

(21:53):
But if you come to the team every day, or
you around the team home and away, road, home games, whatever,
you have a decent vibe for to get going on
at least you know, on the periphery. And I know
for us, like like we I've talked about it a
lot of times, and Greg and Greg Bell and I've
talked about a lot of times, like we saw the
issues in the locker room when when Peak got fired

(22:15):
after the Arizona game, right, you know. And I can
tell you for a fact that when Cliff and Mike left,
specifically Mike or Cliff, that changed. Hell, when Cliff got hurt,
they had to keep Cliff Abril going on the road
because they needed to keep Mike Bennett in check. Mike's
a great leader. Michael benn is a great like, but

(22:37):
he's but solo. Mike Bennett can get little Wi a
little out of control, right, little little little goofy, there's.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
A knock on him. It's just that you need those
types of players around you, the Carlos Santana's that you need.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
You need those and so I don't know if they
have those guys or not, but you can are guys
wigging out because they're like like, like things are going south.
Do they have a guy that can settle them down?
I mean, I'm looking through here. Cal Col's the leader.
He came up the year before. He's twenty eight years
old and has never been an All Star. No, by
the way, Yeah, like it doesn't. His resume says silver this, silver,

(23:11):
that goal, this cool, never been an All Star.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Also has only been with the Mariners, so he's only
been in those two playoff series. Those other guys that
have come.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
To the Santana thing was just kind of needed. Yeah,
I'm not a fan of Justin Turner, I'll be honest
with you. I I think how Turner handled things in
the offseason. The more I heard about it behind the scenes,
they're okay without that. Yeah, but a guy like Santana,
especially for the Latin players, it's probably needed.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
And you could tell, like That's another thing I was
gonna mention is this is I'm very impressed with his
English as someone's trying to learn a second language. It's incredible.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
If you remember the whole situation, here's how for people.
Let me give you a quick refresher course. This is
why we started Mollywa Hollywall Yep, because Kevin Mather basically
mocked the guy's inability to speak, you know, clear and
Americanized English, the former Mariner president, right, And and we
had it. We did like an emergency, like we got

(24:01):
to get some guys, we gotta talk about this and
all that and actually of all people, Ryan Divish suggested
Chris and Nate how or why, I don't know here
we are today, damn you Divish. But but but that
was the whole thing. It's like, oh, this guy. And
then the other thing about him that year is they
said he couldn't play center field, really play field. I

(24:21):
think he's okay, yeah, help me out. Is he okay?

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (24:24):
And that's another thing people kind of and Chris brings
that this every single time he's on is like, yes,
you can. You can talk about his struggles at the plate.
And he had a bad year last year, but he
is an elite defensive center fielder and that can't go unnoticed.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
And that and playing that position that takes away to
save his runs. War uh, the but part of it,
you know with him. I mean I was there last
year when he blew up his ankle going in the wall,
very griffy like, and and I was like, man, that
guy cares. He does, he cares. He gives it to me.
I give me Julio ten days out of ten. I

(25:01):
want him to be better early in the season. I'll
be critical if if the struggle, if he's I know,
it's only batting average, but let's just start there. Yeah,
if he's hitting sub two hundred and another couple of weeks,
I think we all should be critically because you can't
go one for ten, you know, like you just can't
do that.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Yeah, and a one eighty Julio is different than a
one eighty rowdy TOI lez, because you need Julio to
be your guy.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
He's and and maybe more importantly for him, it's his
on base percentage.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
Yes, but he's walking more, which.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
He's hit a three twenty two on base so he's
doing a little bit better in that regard. He does
have eight to walk in.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
He said, the ball to the ballpark.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
So all right, I'm glad I listened to some of that.

I think ed Zoe's actually in charge of that from

Well he was on one last night. Yeah yeah, and
he's doing the game tomorrow, so it's our last I
should tell you guys, it's our last TV game tomorrow,

(29:11):
and I'll say something more next week. I was gonna say,
I'll save most of it for next week. I'll joking
aside about you know, the crew. Everyone sees John and
ed Zo, JT, Piper, Alice and me Brett. But the
people behind the scenes are so good and so many
of them have been getting really bad news lately because

(29:35):
they were also employees of the Mariners. And Root, and
they got let go for the most part, so we
hire them on a contract basis to do the hockey
games is a little different. There's a lot of crossover
with the crew, and I just feel bad for those
people because the talent that we have in this market
to sports on television is unparalleled. It's just it's not
equaled anywhere. And the passion that these people have is unbelievable.

(29:57):
Talk more about them next week and I'll throw some
names out there because I I had a fun year

are you?

Speaker 5 (34:05):
I'm doing very well here.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (34:06):
I'm good too. We're going to try to hit two
position groups today. One would be tight end, definitely a
position of need for Seattle, and the other one people
would say, not a position of need. And that's why
we're going to hit it, because we all know John
Schneider and he will make draft picks and we go
what they didn't need a guy there, but we hit
that as well. That's running backs, and we'll kind of
look at Day two running backs. We're not going to

(34:28):
talk about Ashton gent or Marian Hampton. We'll look at
some guys maybe Day two, Day three types as well.
That's where my guy, Rob Rang makes U say, anyway,
that's that's our guy. Let's start a tight ends Rob
no offense, Barner, what have you? Probably? I mean, Fant's
been a little bit of disappointment, Barner. Maybe a tight
end two. How would you describe I've heard the tight

(34:48):
end In fact, we've had other guys on this week.
We've heard the tight end class described in a way
which it sounds like maybe maybe it's not the deepest class.
How would you describe the tight end class?

Speaker 9 (35:01):
Yeah, I think that it is very much top heavy.
The top three guys I think are all going to
be off the board by the well.

Speaker 5 (35:08):
Pick number fifty two.

Speaker 9 (35:10):
I think certainly when you get Tyler Warren from Penn State,
we talked about him so many times before.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Ian.

Speaker 5 (35:15):
I mean, he's a he's a blue chip talent, one
of only four in this draft class.

Speaker 9 (35:19):
He is teammate Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter, and then Ashton
Gent and I expect all four of those players be
long off the board, probably a top ten pick. I
currently have Tyler Warren going number five overall to the
Jacksonville Jaguars. Colston Loveland from Michigan to me is really
the wild card here in the first round for the Seahawks,
just because we do know that there's a need for

(35:41):
another pass catcher along with Cooper Cup and Marquez Bell
and Scanty and brought in. You mentioned Noah Fans, and
I was really impressed by a j.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
Barner.

Speaker 5 (35:50):
You know, people nationally are kind of sleeping on him
a little bit.

Speaker 9 (35:52):
I think in terms of what he brought to the
Seahawks a year ago, second behind only the pro bowler
Brock Bowers in terms of touchdown receptions from a tight end.
I do think that there is a need for a
big blocking type, but I don't know that's going to
come in.

Speaker 5 (36:07):
The first round. That might be something that we look
at a little bit deeper.

Speaker 9 (36:10):
But again, Colston Loveland from Michigan, he to me, is
a guy that six foot five, two hundred and forty
five pounds. He's not necessarily a great blocker, but he
is just a very savvy pass catcher. In a traditional
West Coast offense like the one that the Seahawks will
bring it in, he would make some sense even over
you know, say a pro ready guard for example, or

(36:32):
some of the other positions of greater concern for the Seahawks.
Coatson levelan just would be that good of a football player.
And finally, Mason Taylor. This is the son of the
NFL Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, who is of course
a pass rusher all those years Miami Golfin's a Hall
of Famer. But Mason Taylor has got some of the
softest hands of any tight end in this draft. Pats,
he's six five, he's two hundred and fifty five pounds,

(36:54):
is he's got some punch at the lion of scrimmage.

Speaker 5 (36:57):
As a as a blocker.

Speaker 9 (36:59):
But really what you bring or bringing him in for
is just the reliability that he would provide you as
a pass catcher or a great deal of upside.

Speaker 5 (37:06):
So to me, those are the big three.

Speaker 10 (37:09):
A bunch of guys here have either struggled with injuries
or essentially one year wonders, and so that's why I
feel that this is a top end tight a heavy,
top heavy tight ended class that has a little bit
of a gap, and there's some intriguing prospects maybe sprinkled
in throughout Day two or Day three, But I would
argue that this is actually a below average tight end

(37:31):
crop overall.

Speaker 1 (37:32):
Robran Jos Froz all Right, Warren's gonna be gone if
Colston Lovelin from Michigan is there at eighteen. Is that
a decision that John Schneider do you think will contemplate making.

Speaker 9 (37:43):
I think that he asked to just because of the
immediate impact ability that a guy like Close and lovel
might be able to bring the Seahawks. I'd argue that
a stronger position of concern, obviously along with offensive line,
would still be a wide receiver. This is a receiver
class that really or excuse me, the receiving depth chart
for the Seahawks that is lacking straight line speed, and

(38:04):
so I think that there are bigger positions of concern
even among pass catchers. But at the same time, I
do believe that Colston Lovelin is absolutely a top fifteen
prospect in this draft class and a number eighteen overall.

Speaker 5 (38:16):
He would make a lot of sense.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
The guy that might be what a Day two guy.
I'm curious about him because he played with Camward at Miami.

Speaker 11 (38:23):
Elijah Arroyo, well, Elijah rol is an interesting guy, And
I mean when you look at the Senior Bowl tape
and you watch him this past season for the Hurricanes,
then he looks every bit the part of a top
fifty two selection.

Speaker 9 (38:38):
And I met you fifty two, because of course the Seahawks,
along with number eighteen overall, had fifty and fifty two,
and so again I think that Arroyo had his absolute
best warrants that type of the selection. However, the durability
concerns with him are significant. He struggled with a knee
injury last couple of years and then this past season
finally really kind of popped for Miami me So again,

(39:01):
I think he is somebody that is intriguing, but at
the same time has a little bit more of the
durability question mark than somebody that I would feel comfortable
assigning in top fifty two overall selection. So that's why
I'm a little bit higher on two other players. Harold
Fannon from Bowling Green that he is a very different.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
Type of player. He's six three, two hundred and.

Speaker 9 (39:22):
Forty five pounds, so this is a guy that's going
to be playing more that h back role. But that's
a role that we've seen Kint Kuback and others in
the West Coast offense take full advantage of guys versatility.
I mean, obviously, when you think about the New Orleans Saints,
you think about the the noun space on his name,
but the former tight end and h back and quarterback.

Speaker 5 (39:43):
At BYU that was such a productive player there.

Speaker 9 (39:48):
He but then also a fans for forty nine ers
with Kyle Huschack and so to me, those are the
types of players that Harold Fannon is similar to. He
is has soft hands, he is great agility, and he
is a physical blocker. So to me, he is the
type of guy that would make some sense. And another
one if I was going to mention again that the

(40:09):
tight end, the element that I think that the Seahawks
are lacky in the most is somebody that can move
people to line of scrimmage, basically be the player the
Seahawks thought they were signing a year ago in Farrell Brown.
And for my money, Ian the best blocking tight end
in this class is Jackson Hawes from Georgia Tech. He's
six foot five, he is turing sixty pounds. He doesn't

(40:30):
have very many catches. I don't think he has a
single touchdown for the George tech Yelle Jackets a year ago.
But he can put people on their backsides when it
comes to the running game, and that's something I think
the Seahawks are currently lacky.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
So Jackson Hawes a fifth or six round that'd be
you and me on Saturday morning draft pick. And he's
about the opposite as you can get of Harold Fan
and who's kind of just all receiver, right, Yeah, And
that's the thing.

Speaker 9 (40:52):
Harold Fan can be that all receivers, so can be
kind of a move blocker and also a bit of
a fullback. And so to me, that's where that's his
game is again more of a six foot three, two
and forty pounds, is a much smaller, quicker type of
a guy rather than say the sixty five to sixty

(41:12):
five whose job is to be that that extra offensive
linement to last scrimmage.

Speaker 1 (41:16):
All right, let's let's talk about the running back position, because,
like I said, this is one that doesn't feel like
there's a need Ken Walker, Zach Sharbona. We saw some
nice flashes from Kenny McIntosh last year as well at
the end of the season. But I know, let's start
first with this. We know about Ashton Gent, Morian Hampton,
maybe even Travian Henderson. We can get the name from

(41:36):
Ohio State. We know some of these names so far.
How would you describe the running back class?

Speaker 9 (41:43):
The running back to the absolutely keep this entire class.
It's I think it's defensive tackle that's a bean in
running back.

Speaker 5 (41:51):
Those three positional groups.

Speaker 9 (41:53):
Think you can kind of pick your pick whichever won
is your personal flavor. But I think those are absolutely
the most ballenton and not in terms of top end
talent as well as depth. I do believe if they
are legitimate starting caliber players that are likely to be
available all the way into Day three, and so that
is a little bit unusual for running backs. Sometimes there's

(42:14):
good depth by a lacks top end guys. But as
you said, Rock, I spend much time talking about guys
like Ashton Gent. I think that he's a top ten lock.
I have him going currently number six overall to our
buddy Pete Carroll in the Las Vegas Raiders. If he
does slide by them, then I certainly think that he
would be in played in Chicago with ten or the
Dallas Cowboys at number twelve to me is his absolute floor.

(42:36):
O'mar in Hampton from North Carolina. I think that he
is a candidate for of those Cowboys at number twelve,
also a candidate four save the Pittsburgh Steelers twenty one.
I believe that is their selection. Tredy On Henderson is
an interesting player from Ohio State. I think that he's
got He's the most likely to be the third back
off the Borian and part of the reason why is
because he's got straight line speed.

Speaker 5 (42:58):
And so while the Seahawks on.

Speaker 9 (43:00):
Paper are loaded at running back, we all know that
Kim Walker the third to struggle with durability and when
he is not on the field for the Seahawks, they
lack a big playment. As much as I like Zach
Sharbonay and Kenny McIntosh, as you mentioned that neither of
them have that four to three breakaway speed that both
ken Walker the Third and trade On Henderson possessed, and

(43:22):
actually an upgrade in some ways too. Kim Walker the
Third trade Henderson is really really effective on third down,
both as a pass catcher and as a blocker, one
of the most physical blockers in this class, despite the
fact they's five to ten two hundred five.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
All right, let's let's move on to Caleb Johnson from Iowa.
That's a Day two pick, right, Caleb Johnson from Iowa
Day two pick. And again, maybe I think what you
said there is important to note that for our listeners
ken Walker. I love ken Walker, I think you love
ken Walker. We all have ken Walker. But the durability
issues do come into play. So maybe this is more
of a position need than then on the surface. So
what about Caleb Johnson from Iowa.

Speaker 9 (43:58):
Well, Caleb Johnson's very different type of player of then
say Traveon Henderson. We mentioned it just a moment ago.
I mean Caleb Johnson, the big question mark you have
about him is that he lacks that straight line speed
and he's basically a one year superstar Iowa, where Tradeon
Henderson basically has been starting. It feels like an competitive
part of the last decade for the buck as uh

(44:20):
you knows, a four year starter for them. Caleb Johnson, though,
to me, is a really intriguing fit for this new
uh you know, wide zone offense at Clint Kuback is
bringing to the Seahawks here. I mean that if you
think back to the old school kind of West Coast
offense and uh, it was Mike Shanahan. You think about
guys like Trell Davis, Orlandis Gary and Mike Anderson, these

(44:43):
backs that didn't have the lead straight line speed, but
they had unbelievable vision, great balance through contact, and the
ability to uh basically spring off of one foot cut
back against the grain and really be effective uh in
that regard. That to me, is one of the things
that I'm really excited about with Kavid Johnson. He's six

(45:04):
foot and two hundred and twenty pounds. He actually kind
of reminds me a little bit of a say, an
Arian Foster. I've also seen DeMarco Murray as a as
a comparison format. He's an effective one. He's a little
bit upright, but at the same time, again he's got
the vision. He's guy left burst, especially against the grain.
He really takes advantage of cut back lanes very nicely.

(45:24):
And he's one of those guys that when he takes
on contact sometimes it's a little bit too high. He
keeps his legs driving and just always seems like he
falls forward. So to me, he is a player that
I think doesn't have the elite breakaway speed that Ken
Walker the Third has, but at the same time I
do believe they could be very effective in his own offense,
like the one the Sea actually bringing in.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
Do you got anybody else that maybe a Day two,
second or third round pick?

Speaker 6 (45:49):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (45:49):
Sure, I mean several guys. And that's the thing. It's
a spectacular class at running back. As we talked about.

Speaker 9 (45:55):
To me, if if you want to just basically replace
Kim Walker, the third have like a you know, a
version A and a version B at a similar skill set.
Basional Toutant from Virginia Tech to the guy that has that.
He's got four to three speed and and he really
can break away. He also struggled a little bit with
durability and is not quite as effective as the receiver
out of the backfield, but still in terms of just

(46:18):
his ability to create big plays, Tooting from Virginia Tech
is one and just out here locally. Jordan James from
Oregon is another player I think is you know, doesn't
get the national attention that perhaps he should, but you
know that was FORTUNATEO to go to his pro day
and and his quickness laterally, it is just phenomenal.

Speaker 5 (46:36):
It is one of the best in this draft.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
Plats.

Speaker 9 (46:39):
He just has really good balance through contact, and that
lateral agility to kind of just explode off of either
his left or right foot that leads defensive players basically
paralyzed at the point of attack.

Speaker 5 (46:51):
And so I think that Jordan James is gonna.

Speaker 9 (46:53):
Want it be a much more effective back and uh,
you know in the NFL than and perhaps his clearly
middling production in Oregon.

Speaker 5 (47:01):
When you put everything else in the consideration with.

Speaker 1 (47:04):
What Rob Rang join us, chrisia Froze, Jordan James, you
see him as a day three pick.

Speaker 5 (47:10):
I think that he should go on day two.

Speaker 9 (47:12):
I think he should, you know, if he gets out
of the third round to me talking about a huge steal.
But at the same time that as the kind of
back guy, I think that that could slip a little
bit just because he's a good player. He's not elite
in any one way. But again, if he is available
to see out on the top of the fourth round,
that that's the kind of player that I think you
have kind of ignore some of your other positional concerns

(47:33):
and and just to make him the best player available.
Kind of argument.

Speaker 1 (47:37):
All right, I've been wanting to ask you about this
guy for a long time. Rob Rang, tell me about
Cam Scataboo.

Speaker 9 (47:45):
Well, you know, he's got the best balanced to contact
of any draft, any back.

Speaker 3 (47:48):
In this class.

Speaker 9 (47:49):
I mean, he's just a he's just I use the
term sherman because he just kind of runs over people
and he's just so darned hard to get down. I
mean we all think about I'll remember, you know, Marshawn Lynch,
and it just didn't matter how many defensive players that
were out there. He just had a way of kind
of getting through uh you know, those would be tacklers.

(48:11):
I mean he had great balance, great leg drive, great determination.
I mean that is scatibog. At the same time, you
know when Marshall Lynch is a four to four guy
and Scattabull came in the four sixes. And so I
do have some reservations about you know, in the NFL,
if you don't have at least a little bit of burst,
then the team tackling is so much better in the

(48:33):
NFL than it is the college level. There's a reason
why scatabul originally was at Sacramento State rather than Arizona State.
It's because he just is not a tester. He is
a heck of a football player. However, I love his
fit just in terms of his his physicality, his versatility.
I stumbling before, I couldn't remember the name Taysom Hill

(48:53):
for the New Orleans Saints. That to me is the
type of versatility that the aforementioned Harold Fannon. That tight
in from Bowling Green Scotti will also provides that and
also as a special.

Speaker 5 (49:04):
Team's demon and one other back. I really want to
make sure that we talk about this for a second.

Speaker 4 (49:08):
Ean. Is that you know Quick.

Speaker 9 (49:09):
Kubiak and Mike McDonald, John Scheider themselves, all three of
them had mentioned the need for a fullback in this offense.
In my opinion, the best fullback in terms of just
that pure lead blocker, human sledgehammer type rock Lampy for
Northern Illinois. You know, people forget the Northern Illinois shocked
the college football world and Notre Dame, but being a

(49:32):
big part of it was their running game and the
lead blocking a rock Lampy. So if you're looking for
a six foot one, two hundred and fifty pounds fire
hydrant on wheels, then that is rock Lampy at the
fullback position.

Speaker 4 (49:43):
All right, I like it?

Speaker 1 (49:44):
Yeah, all right, Robin, about two weeks time, I'll see
you in person and can't wait. And we'll do that,
and we'll do this little draft thing that we do
every single year. And Rob again a huge part of
our draft coverage. We appreciate him coming on on Fridays.
Let's do it, my friend. We're getting closer and closer.

Speaker 5 (50:00):
Looking forward to it, my friend.

Speaker 1 (50:02):
As always, that is a Rob rang brought to you

five NFL Draft. Now back to Ian Fernez, proudly brought

point three kJ r FM.

Speaker 3 (50:51):
All right, we're back.

Speaker 1 (50:52):
We're going to check Texas second four pint four five one.
We got going on next week?

Speaker 4 (51:02):
Do do Do Do Do Do.

Speaker 1 (51:08):
Monday, will molliwop do we allt to even go through
the lineup for the Mariners.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
Let's do it.

Speaker 1 (51:13):
Go ahead, all right. It's so funny because I feel
like part of this lineup should be really good and
then part of it is just you gotta be kidding me.
H Huio leads off playing center.

Speaker 2 (51:29):
Love that.

Speaker 1 (51:30):
Jorge Parlanco is your DH hitting second like that. I
like the first two hitters. I like the third hitter,
Cal Rawley, I mean ain't hitting anything yet, but okay,
well we'll get Randy big hit Arose Arena clean up
hitting fourth left field. Rayley is hitting fifth, playing right field.

(51:51):
And here's where it gets fun, because all four infielders
are hitting six, seven, eight, and nine. Rowdy till As
at first, Master Bony at third, Revs at seconds, and
Crawford at short stop. Are any of those guys hitting
over one hundred?

Speaker 2 (52:10):
Over one hundred?

Speaker 1 (52:12):
I'm serious.

Speaker 2 (52:13):
I think Master Bony is.

Speaker 1 (52:14):
Hey, I'll tell you. Actually, he's actually been okay, limited
limited at bats. He's only had fourteen plate appearances. He's
hitting no, he's hitting oh yeah, he's hitting three thirty
three Rowdy ti Les damn you, he needs like one
I think he needs like one hit because he's hit
oh fifty. We really need him to get to fifty four.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
And why is that?

Speaker 4 (52:38):
Ian? You tell me?

Speaker 1 (52:41):
Uh, Revis has only had one plate appearance, so it's
kind of hard to criticize him. He's just not a
major league player, right right, where's our boy Crawford? Chris's
bad right now? Yeah, he's hitting one forty three? Is
on basis three forty eight? He's got it and he's
got eleven walks, walks a bunch walks bad. Yeah, slugging

(53:05):
percentage is one seventy one.

Speaker 2 (53:09):
God, that's his slugging.

Speaker 1 (53:11):
That's his slugging percentage. Does he must have like one
extra but yeah, he's got one extra base hits double geez,
he is.

Speaker 3 (53:21):
He is not good.

Speaker 2 (53:23):
I mean, honestly, one through five not a bad lineup, right, No,
it's not and I not a bad lineup I think personally.
Randy Rosewan has been the Mariner's best hitter of this
season so far. I know his average looks low, but
I know I'm gonna get nerdy here. But if you
look at his base or Baseball Savant page, which takes
into account quality of contact, how often you're walking, kind

(53:46):
of basically quality of at bats that you're taking, he's
gotten some bad luck to start the season. I think
that ops at one. Yeah, he's hit the bottle of
the potato is opszto one. That's and you will take that.
Every single ops plus is one forty three. I mean,
he's forty three percent better than the average hitter. And
he just isn't getting on. He's just not hitting the
ball a lot. And when he does it makes it.

(54:07):
He's making a difference, and that's telling you that he's
getting a little unlucky as well.

Speaker 1 (54:09):
So expect that to go up even Yeah, like I said,
one through five is fine. Yes, four through nine is
is good. If it was Peori in March. If you're
playing at Peoria Stadium at noon and you're playing a
split squad game with the Padres, that's fine. But that's
not what you're doing right now. You're not playing the

(54:31):
Padres at noon in Peoria in March with selection Sunday
on the on the horizon. No, that's not what you're doing.
Let's get the text four nine, four to five one.
That's the text line, A free agent text line is
what I'm told these days. I'm not doing baliwat Monday.
If I see that lineup over the weekend, check that.
See which one of those guys is that Chris stop Hits.

Speaker 4 (54:54):
Is that Skeeter? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (54:55):
Yeah, I think that's Skeeter. I know they both have
three six numbers, so hold on, hold on.

Speaker 3 (55:03):
Oh god.

Speaker 1 (55:07):
Some while you looked that up, somebody asked about Daniel.
Danny's on vacation. He's in Asia today. Wow, didn't want
to do a long distance call to Asia. I don't
extravagant traveler there. Well, and our phones were broken all week,
so I don't. I think the chances of us making
a call to Asia were about zero. I probably probably
about as much as good a chance as speed getting

(55:28):
up and down from Raysed Creek right now and not
yelling at Oh yeah, he's yelling at Greller. Oh yeah,
it's always Mike's fault, Jordan, always Mike's fault. Yell at
the guy from gig Harbor. Had nothing to do with
you hooking the ball there, Fella? What else we got
going on to? Who would be a super star doll?
You mentioned this earlier? Yeah, that's true, I mentioned to

(55:49):
you off air. Yeah, hey, guys, the Julio chat was great.
I don't get to hate by so many towards him.
I understand why him to be elite better and reach
the super our status like I do. But I'm not
going to criticize a young man for long term contract
and wanted to win and bring a World Series title
to Seattle. And they're a sports for college athletes come
and go every year and guys hold out for demand trades.

(56:10):
Who you'll plant his flag here? He's a Seattle It's
okay to want more from him, but fans also got
to pick him up when he struggles. He's only one man.
That's from our buddy, Nick all Nick Allen. Hashtag Mollywop
for Life. I don't know about that last part, but
hashtag Mollywop for life. God, we've got to get the
simply Seattle guys on a Mullywop shirt, don't we?

Speaker 3 (56:30):
We do?

Speaker 2 (56:31):
We really do?

Speaker 1 (56:33):
Jake you listening? If that happened, buddy? Did you find
out if that was one of our guys? Yes it
was Christopher Crawford. Yes you are. You're contractually obligated, sir,
you're doing it. Whether that here's a can the lineup
get worse than that? I don't know.

Speaker 2 (56:53):
I really don't know. Don't say that because then we're
gonna have another major injury.

Speaker 1 (56:56):
So well, I'm not no, no, no, no, no no no.
Uh Ben Brooks referring to Brooks Kopka, how the holy
hell do you drop an eagle at fifteen then finished
with a snowman in the bar for eighth? Go back
to live, you bum? I think, Ben? And yeah, Brooks

(57:16):
first of all doesn't care now. Second of all, I
think this golf course is I don't know, challenging, hard, difficult.
I watched this morning, I watched live from this morning,
and these guys are like just like yelling about Rory's
yell at each other about Rory's chip yesterday. Oh yeah,
that went to the water on twelve. I guess it
was right. Like if I hit that shot and it

(57:41):
landed where it did, I would have been thrilled. It
just rolled out in the water. It's a hard golf course,
rolling it like twelve or thirteen. Yeah, it's hard.

Speaker 2 (57:52):
Let's see what else we got?

Speaker 1 (57:57):
No, Keith, No, no, I see you. I'm not going
to even read that.

Speaker 2 (58:02):
Keith, What is it I want to know?

Speaker 3 (58:05):
Now?

Speaker 1 (58:06):
He says, maybe shoot the FNG shockey's number. He could
use some support with his golf betting. Advice golf better. No,
he yelled at me every time I bet on golf,
told me how dumb it was, and then I'd show
him like a winning ticket later and he'd go, oh,
he just go lucky like I did because I picked
a guy named Shuffler. Yeah, I don't know if that's

(58:26):
lucky as never wins shop Shocky Grant.

Speaker 2 (58:32):
Is there a clutch hitting stat for Julio? I responded
to you directly, But there's a multitude of stats you
can look at for clutch hitting. Baseball Reference kind of
categorizes different things. There's late and close, there's quote unquote
high leverage situations and all that stuff.

Speaker 3 (58:48):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (58:48):
He so far in the early season he has it
looks like it improves slightly. Hopefully that trend continues so far.
And like I give to people that want who you
got to be more and I think a lot of
it's been placed on him him, Like it's kind of
the Mariner's fault too, for propping him up to be
the superstar and then not supporting him with a lineup
around him.

Speaker 1 (59:06):
You said earlier is interesting too. I just think that
the lack of veterans, veterans like true veteran leadership around him. Again,
I'm guessing there, but it just feels that that's the case.

Speaker 2 (59:15):
Yeah, and he's having to take a leadership role for himself,
which I like. I like that mentality. You could tell
just he said we a lot in that conversation.

Speaker 3 (59:24):
But I don't know U.

Speaker 1 (59:25):
The kid plays man. I just I'm I think he's
He's warranted some criticism here there for the slow starts,
but I don't think he wants to.

Speaker 2 (59:37):
Start slow, criticized results all you want. I'm totally cool
with that. But his want to be here, his desire
to be here career, how.

Speaker 1 (59:45):
He plays plays hard. He plays really hard. Yeah, Okay,
we're good.

Speaker 2 (59:53):
We're good.

Speaker 1 (59:54):
Softy joins us.

Speaker 4 (59:55):
Next no Chadi stadium.

Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
Stadium.

Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
Yeah, yeah, that's it's told Andrews. I assume you just
asked him or the host soft soft.

Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
I thought you'd be Jimmy's but I don't know you'd
been Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
No, By the way, speaking of this intro with the thing,
did I ever tell you at the time, we had
a kid, uh in elementary school Woodridge Elementary, Bellevue, Washington,
where a kid's dad showed up on a horse to
pick him up and take him home.

Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
Stop it.

Speaker 4 (01:00:38):
I swear to God this must have been It was
Missus Gosh's class. Second wait, her name was missus Karen
Gosh like g O s c O s c H
g O s c H. Yeah, yeah, yeah Karen Gosh.

Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (01:00:54):
I believe her. Her current husband, she may have had
a few, I don't know. Works at Ashley Jewelry in
West Sea at a great guy.

Speaker 1 (01:01:02):
By the way.

Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
If you if you're looking for something for your wife
or girlfriend, or maybe you're happened to be a female
and you're you know, popping the question yourself, like Monica
did the Chandler on Friends back in the day.

Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
I remember that episode.

Speaker 4 (01:01:14):
Yeah, go to Manashi, you got a hell of a deal. Anyway, anyway,
we had a guy show up to pick his son
up on a horse in second grade.

Speaker 1 (01:01:22):
See people don't remember back in the day, Belvy was
a wild west Man.

Speaker 4 (01:01:25):
That's right. It was a lot.

Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
It was crazy out there.

Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
Freaking chaos. Well do you know the Factoria area at all,
by the way, I do.

Speaker 3 (01:01:31):
I do.

Speaker 4 (01:01:31):
Okay, so you know where the T Mobile complex is,
So that whole area used to be just woods. Yeah,
and that's where we'd hang out.

Speaker 1 (01:01:38):
I just I drive by that often when I'm getting
my Jimmy John sandwich for dinner when we're doing shows.

Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
At Room Sports.

Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:01:44):
Yeah, well, there was a lot of a lot of
things went down in those there. There a lot of
boys became men in those woods there. Back in the day.
We did.

Speaker 1 (01:01:53):
We hung out a lot up in the We hung
out a lot on top of the old Newport Hills
there at forest Ridge High School when we were all yeah,
you know the other day guys did back in the day,
because you know, all boys, all girls, and way.

Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
We got Newport, Newport was a fact thorugh for a while.
Many they pumped out Mark Pope, who's now the coach
at Kentucky. They pumped out Todd Hollinsworth, who was the
ninety five rookie of the year for the LA Dodgers
back in the day.

Speaker 3 (01:02:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:02:16):
I think Mike Campbell, the former Mariner, did he go
to Newport High School? Pitcher did?

Speaker 8 (01:02:19):
Really?

Speaker 4 (01:02:20):
I think he did? Yeah, so good. We had nothing.
We had we had nothing at Bevue.

Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
And then and then Butcher Gontrov showed up.

Speaker 4 (01:02:28):
And just like that, No, they won the They won
the title in eighty seven with coach hash Uh and
then Uh or eighty six, whatever year it was, and
then actually it was eighty three. It was eighty three.
I think I got my days all messed up. It
doesn't matter. But my point is they were good before
I got there, and they were good after I'd left,
and then that's the point.

Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
What happened in between they stunk terrible.

Speaker 4 (01:02:48):
Remember like our freshman our freshman football team, we went
like six and one, and everyone's like, dude, we're gonna
win state when we're all seniors. By the time we
were all seniors, half the guys would quit.

Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
The way.

Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
Yeah, you're done. You were out of there. You had
some shoplifting to do, and you were you were too busy.

Speaker 4 (01:03:10):
Focus on my Campbell. Newport High School, Yeah, the new
Poor High How about that man?

Speaker 1 (01:03:15):
Wow, coming out of that school. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:03:18):
Something something in the water, something in Newport Shores if
they were feeding them.

Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
Did you see Scotty shot today on twelve?

Speaker 4 (01:03:24):
The birdie or the chipping, But did you see the
t shot?

Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
No, it went into the woods behind the green and
then somehow got spit out and then he chips in
for birdie.

Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
Wow. Like, yeah, we're not doing that. You know a
lot of us like to say one of us, one
of us, Google gob but one that's not one of us.

Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
No, No, the big joke going on right now. Speak
just hooked one.

Speaker 4 (01:03:45):
Oh my god, I like I was Freddie gonna make
the cut.

Speaker 1 (01:03:49):
No, he missed the cut.

Speaker 3 (01:03:50):
He missed.

Speaker 1 (01:03:50):
He's finished four over. Yeah, and Bernhard long Or also missed,
missed the cut. So yeah, yelling at Michael Greller right
now as we speak. So you know that right this
is Bernard Locker's final master. They pay a nice trip,
they pay the patrons in a nice tribute to him.

Speaker 4 (01:04:04):
Is you know how many masters he ended up playing
his career? By the way, Bernard forty four forty one yards?
I told you, I told you earlier this week.

Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
I thought it was how many?

Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
Was it?

Speaker 12 (01:04:13):
I had forty one yards set up for you, man
right there, forty one master, forty forty one yards of
total offense forty one yards.

Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
For who Sam Darnold, were Sam Darnold with time?

Speaker 12 (01:04:29):
With time?

Speaker 4 (01:04:30):
So you're hanging out of there Donald's with the masters,
oh is he?

Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:04:34):
You can afford it, you can't afford it.

Speaker 4 (01:04:37):
Yeah, we're at the Chady stadium, and we got Ben
Williamson coming on. Oh maybe the future at third.

Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
Base probably should be the now at first base at
third base.

Speaker 4 (01:04:45):
And dye about Cole Young coming on.

Speaker 1 (01:04:48):
Also should be the also should be here right now,
right both those guys.

Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
Did you see the lineup tonight?

Speaker 8 (01:04:53):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:04:53):
Not yet, I have not. Is it bad?

Speaker 5 (01:04:55):
Well?

Speaker 1 (01:04:56):
One through one through five? One through five is pretty good?

Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
YoY?

Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
But but six, seven, eight, nine is your entire infield.
And as I mentioned Anders, if it was Peoria in March,
maybe it would be okay, But we were not in Peoria.
It's not March.

Speaker 4 (01:05:10):
So yeah, but they just called up Casey Legomina from
Triple A Tacoma.

Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
What do you want say that again?

Speaker 4 (01:05:15):
Lego Mina? Is that how you say his name? Andrews
by the way, the Legomena? I don't. Can I just
do a little public service announcement for all the PR
people out there the work in sports? Can you please
for the love of the association in the phonetics and
the price release.

Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
It's not that hard.

Speaker 4 (01:05:30):
Oh geez. Like I was talking to mixed Praxel over
at U dub we got a guy from Lipscomb University. Uh,
and I forgot how to say his name. Jacob somebody.
I was like, dude, I'll give you five hours. Every
time you write a press release you put phonetics in,
I'll give you five bucks. He's like, done, done.

Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
Alex Alex is Alex Mayer. Down the marriage. He's too
busy coming up with the craziest stats that's ever heard
of in his life. We love Alex, so we love
his stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:05:52):
All right, let's talk crazy, all right, Alex Alex Meyer Wiener.

Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
Yes, yes, all right, are you on the call? Are
you in the boothton on those cars?

Speaker 4 (01:06:02):
Puts the clock. I'm going to the bar.

Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
Don't what's wrong with Is this a bucky thing? Don't
we always put something in the booth?
