Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're a news radio eight forty wh as Terry miners here.
One of my buddies is one of those creative types.
I like to hang out with the creative types now
and again. Rocko Jerome is back in the studio. It's
good to see you, brother.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah, you too. Man. Howdy kids, howdy. It's so nice
to be here.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
It's always great. And you brought a star with you today.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
I share dead man. You know, Terry, when I come
around here, I don't want to waste your time.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
That's right, you know what I'm saying, bringing the killers.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
I'm bringing in the killers.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
And you know, Louisville has been known as a place
where there's been a lot of great wrestling and a
lot of great wrestlers. Right, characters. Jerry Lawler, that's right.
John Cena wrestled here, right. The Schnitzelberg Giants, my dad,
your very own Papa.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
You're the Schnitzel Papa Giants now.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
The big thing now, the one and only Frey.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Frele Slayer is in the studio. Hello, Hello, Goddess. It's
good to have you here, great to be here. You're
You've been in the game of wrestling seven.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Years, seven years almost tell me about.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Your life prior to becoming a wrestler.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Well, I was teaching middle school in the middle of
nowhere in Alaska and decided, you know what, you only
live once, so let's quit that and move to Las
Vegas and wrestle full time.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Why did you see a show or what spurred that?
I mean, you didn't just wake up one day and
say I need a wrestler.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Well, I played like sportsman whole life, and we played
basketball in college. But then once you you know, end
the collegiate, unless you're a pro, there's really not a
lot of avenue for that. So if you still want
to do something athletic and performative and you know, chokes
lend people every once in a while, yeah, pro wrestling,
it is.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
What kind of sports were you playing in college?

Speaker 5 (01:36):
Basketball?

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Okay? Good? Awesome? Was that in Fairbanks, Alaska?

Speaker 4 (01:40):
No, that was in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
I've not been there. I know where that is, but
I mean.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
Bounced around all over. But now I'm happy to be
in Louisville, Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Is it? It's interesting though, because I've been to Alaska
multiple times. It's just a different universe. It's a different attitude.
It's stunningly beautiful. I mean, I'm walking along the road
one day and this salmon is just jumping. He's going,
He's in the stream right over next to me, and
it's almost like he's following, like I have a pet
salmon now just jumping on home. I thought you don't

(02:10):
see that elsewhere.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
For No, I definitely had to call late into work
because there was a moose blocking my driveway.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
And no persuading tactic even from Frey of the sleigh out.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
No, I didn't know how to choke Slim yet, so
that would be a different story.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
You're with Ohio Valley Wrestling.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
I sure am.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Will you do that every every Thursday?

Speaker 4 (02:33):
We do live TV at the Hot Point Davis Arena.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Yeah. It's it's great fun and it is performative. It's
it's a challenge. You got to be in shape, you
gotta you gotta do a lot of things in terms
of just being able to roll into that week after
week without getting hurt.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
Right, definitely, And you can see kind of more insight
into what we did. We had a Netflix reality show
come out about us last year called Wrestlers.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
I watched it, did you?

Speaker 5 (03:00):
It was fantastic great, I thought so.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
I got a big kick out of that. I've found
it fascinating everybody's stories and you know, you see the
kind of the real some drama and people's real lives
that go along with the show that you're putting on.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Yeah, people forget that behind the character is a whole
nother life, and you know all the regular challenges that
people have on top of being a performer and punching
people in the face every week?

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Are you Are you ever amazed at how serious some
of the fans get about it though, where they they're
like they get so emotional about it. It's like it's
a show. But sometimes people are kind of caught in it,
like the drama, like it's playing out and they want
to help.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Do you know what?

Speaker 5 (03:43):
We love that. That's how we know we're doing our
job properly.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
When you can go and forget about your day to
day and you just get so engrossed in what we're
doing that you really have an emotional connection to it.
That's and we're like, yep, got them, We're doing a
good job.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
All right. Well you look young, but I mean that's
not an old person's game, So I hope your body
holds out for this. By the way, these photos of you,
Rocko has come up with another beautiful comic book.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
And the latest Ghost Agent's.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
The latest in the Ghost Agents series. These photos of
you are just fantastic too. But you're in showbiz and
you just you know, you know how to be a
model as well. Well.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Huge thanks to Matt Simpson, because I wouldn't it looks
this good without him.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Now, Freya the Slayer, what did you think when you
first saw these cartoon illustrations of you in this book
called Freya of the Sleaya as Donna Prentiss. Did you
look at that and go wow?

Speaker 5 (04:41):
Definitely?

Speaker 4 (04:41):
I mean, you always are excited to have different opportunities
come up through wrestling, but this has to be one
of the coolest ones. And when I wrestled on Thursday,
this had just came out and so all the fans
are holding up copies of the book that I'm in.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
I mean, you really can't beat that.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
No, that's cool, pretty surreal.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
So Rocko, tell me about the process this story. So
obviously you're doing a series, but how long have you
worked on this particular.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Here's here's what's really wild about this.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
This one took like six or seven months, but I've
been doing ghost Agents for the last several years. Right,
And the character that Freya is portraying is called Donna Prentiss. Right,
Donna was a character that I came up with before
I knew there was a Fray of the Slayer, Right.
And she is this this this tall, powerful, black haired

(05:29):
woman who was really brazen.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
And you'd already imagined this and then you meet.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Her, right. I saw her wrestling.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
I go to ovi W, I saw the same documentary
series that you did. I said, I gotta, I gotta
get over there at OBW. The hot Point Davis Arena
is like two minutes from my my condo. So I'm
remissed for not going earlier. And I see Frey in
a wrestling match and I see her kick another woman
in the face full on, and I said, that is

(05:56):
Donna Prentiss. We just she just doesn't know it yet.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Apprentice is born.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
So I was like, man, I got to talk to
this lady Freya about being in my comic book, you know,
like I got to get her on the cover of
the thing. And I'm like, you know, Freya probably gets
a lot of odd requests from a lot of different people,
I would guess. So I got to couch this correctly, right,
I gotta come correct And I got to make friends
with Freya before I start talking to her about modeling

(06:22):
for my comic book, right, because Freya, how would that
have gone if I just came in cold with that?

Speaker 4 (06:28):
You know, if you as soon as I saw your
past issues of ghost Agents, I was sold, Like the
artwork has always been so strong. As soon as I
saw what you were already doing, I was happy to be.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
Part of it.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
That's sweet to hear.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
I'm glad to hear that, Freya the Slayer. What do
your family members say when people ask about, Hey, whatever happened?
What's she doing these days? The school teacher, Oh, my
mom loves it.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
She has like an album of pictures in her phone
of me, and she like, I don't think she can
go to the bank without showing people a video of
me like dropping someone. So they think it's great. My
family's super supportive. They flown to come see me. My
siblings have traveled to Hawaii to watch me wrestle, and
so my family's greatly supportive.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
Not everyone is that lucky.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
And wrestling any anyone else in your family an adventurous
person who does something really kind of off the grid.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
Yeah, I mean my whole family.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
My family homesteaded in Alaska, and so just start from there,
and then my sister and mom professionally saying my brother
was a rapper and travels a lot.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
So my whole family is, yeah, pretty adventurous.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Yeah, Oh that's cool. Homesteaded you mean they built the
home and everything.

Speaker 5 (07:39):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
We still have a hundred acre farm in Northpool, Alaska.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Don't you miss that sometimes?

Speaker 5 (07:45):
You know, I don't miss being cold.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
That's true. There's times of the year that's just unbearable.
But the times I've been there during the summer months,
kind of place is stunning, and almost everyone flies themselves somewhere. Hey,
where are you going? I'm gonna fly myself over to
see John? Okay? Can I go with? Sure?

Speaker 4 (08:02):
I missed out on that. If I could fly, probably
go back more often, But.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
It's just such a long journey to get there. Yes,
you'll leave up there at Seattle or whatever, and you're
up there and it's like, oh, we'll be in Alaska
in a few minutes. No, you won't. That's a long
way home. So are you going to have a party
or like a launch party for sure?

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah, so you'll be able to get this thing at
the Great Escape here locally, we're doing a Kickstarter campaign
for another one. This is the first of two that'll
have Frey on the cover with the same artist ken Landgraf,
who's a fantastic worker for many years back. We're having
a party on the twenty eighth at Zanzibar from six
to midnight.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Come by.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
It's a day after my birthday, Frey, I will be there.
She will sign your book.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
Sign your books on your face. Anything you bring.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
I don't know if a choke slam will be in order,
but maybe you could chop somebody's chest, right, we'll see.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
I'm not going to ruin the story here, but it's
a good one, all right. Well thanks, it's really well done,
and you Frey are now a multi media superstar in
so many ways.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
Well all thanks.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
That's flext Comic Books live in person. Come see the
OVW on Thursday night.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
It's a lot of fun, man, great for the whole family.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
All right. Do you send people to a website as well?

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yeah, ghost Agents Dot Matt. You can find everything you
need to know from there.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
Okay, ghost agents dot net roco. Great, see again. Glad
you're continuing with the series.

Speaker 2 (09:25):

Speaker 1 (09:26):
It is a pleasure to meet you in person after
seeing you on the documentary series.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Fantastic. Is there another season of that coming? Do we know?
You know?

Speaker 4 (09:35):
We still don't know. It's show business, so we find
out when we find out.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Show bus nonsense. Yes, all right, well enjoy, appreciate you
loving on Kentucky all the way from Alaska.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
Best.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
All right, we're coming right back on news radio eight
