Speaker 1 (00:00):
Seneca High School, Robert Holmes the third. It's good to
see you again, sir, you're on that microphone. Good seeing you.
That was life.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Everything good, Everything is good, Terry.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
You guys are having a big party coming up this
weekend for all of your famous and wonderful and delightful
Seneca alums.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yes, it's this coming Saturday at five pm. The cocktail
hour starts and it's at the Millwood Arts Center. So
every year we pause and celebrate our distinguished alumni from
Seneca High School, from our rich history. And so this Saturday,
we're going to induct the nineteen eighty five basketball team

(00:39):
featuring Tony Kimbro, the All American from right here in Louisville, Kentucky.
And so we also have some other distinguished persons as well.
Mister John Locke was my principal back in the day.
So I have the honor of saluting mister Locke and
giving him his flowers as well.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
That's pretty fantastic. That is kim Bro was quite a ballplayer.
We all know that name, of course, from his prominence
here in Louisville. Yes, not just Seneca University of Louisville, Yes, yes,
And so is the whole team being the whole team, Yes,
the whole the whole team.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Several of them will be there to receive that honor,
and well deserved. They had a just a phenomenal season.
Came up short against Eastern once they hit the tournament,
but thirty two and two twenty five and oh.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Wait, they came up against Eastern. Will that be one
Felton Spencer who got in the way.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
That would be one Felton Spencer, all seven foot of
him getting in the way. God rest his soul, great,
great after he.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Was a wonderful person. But I'll bet he put on
a bit of a block fest.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
He did. He got several blocks and actually hit the
free throws as I recall it to seal it. Yeah,
so they beat us by two points, a tough loss.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
All right, So what happens at your fancy Seneca Alumni
Hall of Fame banquets?

Speaker 2 (01:58):
So we again we celebrate, We drink a little champagne
for our cocktail hour, and like I said, we just
paused to recognize some of the great contributions of our
Seneca alum And so we do that so that the
history doesn't get lost, and so that also some of
the kids today, the students today at Seneca, they kind

(02:20):
of know that the rich history themselves, and then they
know that they can accomplish things. They can, you know,
find mentors and people to kind of look up to.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Your website's beautiful, by the way, for it's Seneca Forever
dot org. But I mean there's a mentoring program on there,
and there's opportunities to volunteer and make gifts of course,
so that people can make a difference and help out.
And then there's your picture on the website. But that's
fellow to the left of you. I am. I'm trying
to pick my brain and recognize who Cherry A. Brahmson,

(02:53):
the mayor for life, your buddy. Will he show up
at the banquet that we know this week?

Speaker 2 (02:58):
I don't know if he's gonna make this when he
was there of course last.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Year, of course, but I don't know for sure.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
We don't know for sure if he's going to be
here this hopefully, but we do, uh, we have a
big surprise. I want to I want to share the
first So you know, I turned down Oprah. You know
she called us. I said, no, Oprah, I'm talking to
Terry and turned down CNN, thank you. Uh, I said,
this is a worldwide exclusive, so Terry Miners is the
only person who gets to uh gets to get this

(03:26):
excuse schoo. This is big. So uh we did We
wanted to find a way to preserve our history and
find a way to honor those that have been placed
in the Hall of Fame. I think, uh, you know,
we put a little too much importance on you know,
plaques in the hallway, and that's kind of uh, there's
nothing wrong with that, but that's kind of you know,

(03:48):
that's kind of old. And so we wanted to do
something where we created a momento a book that would
uh have the anthology or if you will, the history
of the entire Seneca alumni inductees. And so we're going
to start working on that book immediately. And the big

(04:09):
news is there's the big surprise is that New York
Times bestseller Uh and also Seneca gradu missus z z Packer,
has agreed to write the book for us. And uh,
she's kind of a big deal. She's kind of a
big deal. I think it gives us kind of instant credibility. Yea,
So we're excited about her coming on board. And then

(04:31):
there's also going to be some former alumni that's going
to help ZZ as well in the formation of this book.
But this this book is going to be portable. It's
going to be something that can be shared with grandchildren
and even even our alumni that have have passed away.
We also think that that that the families will want

(04:54):
to get a copy of this book so that they
can share. You know, this is grandma, this is grandpa,
and this is part of their legacy at Seneca High School.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
When's the what's the plan to get this What time
or what time of the year will this book be done?

Speaker 2 (05:07):
We are keeping our fingers crossed and I'm hopefully it's easy.
He's now listening, But uh, we want we want this
book this time next year. We'd like like for it
to be makes sense and it's gonna be on Amazon,
and not just for the Seneca community, but anybody that
wants to share this with everybody.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Anybody wants your Louisville Legends Seneca High School. The Hall
of Fame Alumni Hall of Fame Banquet is this Saturday,
five till eight pm at the Millwood Arts Center.

Speaker 2 (05:34):

book's going to be fantastic.
