Speaker 1 (00:00):
Lisa Fox here.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
This is the Iheartsokel show or show that puts a
spotlight on charitable organizations, nonprofits and people giving back and
so many giving back after the devastating fires and the
Palisades and Altadina, and of the many companies giving back
to fire victims.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
That includes one of our advertisers.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Living Spaces and from their headquarters in Lamorada. I've got
their EVP of marketing on Renee and Tarryano.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Hi, Renee, Hi, Lisa, how are you?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I'm doing all right, but you know, I wanted to
have you on the radio to make sure that people
knew that you guys so generous. You're you're offering free
mattresses replacement mattresses to anyone who lost their mattress in
the fire. I mean, obviously if everything is gone, you
lost your mattress, but also for homes that are still standing,
if you have severe smoke damage, if you're in the
affected areas that it affected zip codes, you can get
(00:47):
a free mattress. Apply for free mattress, a brand new
one of any size.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Through Living Spaces. Is this the first time you guys
have done this, made this offering?
Speaker 3 (00:57):
You know what, Lisa sadly. You know, wild fires are
are part of the reality of living in California. And
so this isn't the first time that we've made this offer.
In fact, we run this program for over ten years wow,
and and given given out a few thousand mattresses, but uh,
you know, nothing to the scale of what we're seeing now.
(01:18):
It's something that we see as an opportunity for us
to give back in a way that we're uniquely positioned
to do. Right. It's you know, we we sell mattresses,
we sell furniture. So when they're when there's this need
and and and folks need to recreate a home, we
have the least we can do is provide a good
night's sleep in our opinion.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
But that's you know, that's a big difference that people
need to know about you guys. That you know, it
takes you from just being a store to being part
of our community and really caring about the people who
live here. But you guys are a local company. It's
started here in southern California, right.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
You're absolutely right. We are Southern California, born and raised
in the LA area in particular. And you know, one
of one of the core values of our organization is
a social responsibility and we want to meet good stewards
built the communities where we serve, and you know, for us,
LA is our home and we want to make sure
that we come through for the place we call home and.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
For so many and thank you for that, and for
so many that are just beyond devastated to figure out
where to go from here. You know, people who had
insurance didn't have insurance. The time is going to take
to even hear back from somebody to get the help
they need. Now people are having to rent all of
a sudden and find a place to live, and there's
just so much to put together. But to offer a
free mattress, like to have that be one less expense
(02:37):
to stress about is amazing. How how does it all work?
How do we apply? How where do we start with this?
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah, that's a great question. So it's we try to
keep it pretty simple. We understand that that individuals are
going through a lot right now, and so we certainly
don't want to add to the stress. And so if
you go to living spaces dot com you'll find a
link with all the details, but it's pretty simple. If
you go to one of our LA area locations, and
again you can find that on the site. Once you
(03:08):
get to your female determination letter or you have an
insurance award letter, either of those pieces of documentation will
qualify you to receive the mattress and you'll be able
to pick it up from the location itself and take
it with you. And it's as simple as that.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
And Renie, how does it work for people? I mean,
so many who are devastated by these fires are in
temporary situations.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
So whether it's a hotel or they're CouchSurfing.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
We've got friends who we know, you know, five people
in the family with dogs and cats and all this stuff,
and they're in one bedroom condo because that's all they
could find in Santa Monica. Or people just trying to
make it work temporarily with tighter quarters and they're used
to they're renting, they're crashing at someone's house or stay
in someone's guest room.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Trying to figure it all out. What's the time frame?
Speaker 2 (03:53):
You know, we'd all love to have our new mattresses
from you guys, but what's the timeframe on this when?
Speaker 1 (03:59):
What's the deadline?
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Yeah, that's another great question, and we're going to try
to be as flexible as we can. For now, we're
projecting this program to run through the end of June,
but we're going to be here as long as it's needed,
so you know, keep checking in as we may and
likely will continue to extend the deadline here just because
we know that there are so many you know, folks
(04:21):
that are going to be in need.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Absolutely so, what kind of mattress, what's our free mattress?
Speaker 1 (04:25):
What type of mattress? Is a very specific brand or
specific type?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
And if in our new chapter we'd like our new
mattress to help us better deal with stress, the stress
in this life kind of add on to get something
fancier and more therapeutic.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
How does that part work?
Speaker 3 (04:40):
We are offering one one of the mattresses from our
revived collection in any size, all right, And so that
is what is offered with this with this effort. And
then you know, you know, more info in store. You know,
the teams are are sales associates.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
And team members can help us figure it out.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
I guide you can guide you through that process.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Okay, great? And now I know that I saw on
the fine print it is one mattress per household, right correct?
Speaker 1 (05:11):
All right? So to be clear.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
So for people who have kids or multiple mattresses in
the house, or had a guesthouse or an ADU on
the property, it's still just one free mattress in effected
wildfare zip codes with paperwork, but just one free mattress
from Living Spaces per per home address right for the
time being.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Correct. And now, like I said earlier, the scale of
this disaster is pretty unprecedented. So we want to make
sure that you know that we've got that we're prepared
and can offer or you have this offtware available to
everyone that lost a home.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
We love that, We love that love and Okay, Renee, well,
minus this massive disaster, what other ways does Living Spaces
stay involved in I give back to our community, you know,
throughout the rest of the year or regularly minus the
big crazies, Gary Fire.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Sure thing. You know what. We partner with lots of
local organizations, you know, different types and for us, there
are three key areas that that that we work with,
and one being veterans. You know, we're very appreciative of
what veterans do for for all of us. You know,
working with the homeless community. You know, we we are
(06:21):
in a business where we create homes, and so we
want to support organizations that work with those groups. And
then we also want to work with you know, disadvantage
youth and and and and children that that maybe don't
have the best opportunity that we can support and you know,
help in that development. So, you know, lots of organizations
in those areas, not just in Los Angeles, not just
(06:43):
in California, but but everywhere where we have our stores.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Got it?
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Got it?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
And how do we find out more about your film
tropic efforts as a whole for Living Spaces? I saw
you your Instagram. Yeah, your instagram is outliving spaces. Then
you have the outliving spaces giving Instagram. I love that
one too.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah. Yeah, we're we're trying to get the word out.
But yeah, if you want to learn more about the
organizations we support and the work that we're doing. Again,
just like this mattress effort, just go to living spaces
dot com and you'll see a link there to learn
more about what we're doing in the community.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Wonderful And again, if you are in need of a free,
brand new free mattress from Living Spaces, All California fire
victims who have approved FEMA or insurance paperwork are eligible
to receive a free Revive Islands Collection mattress in twin
full Queen Eastern King or California King Nice and a
free revived charcoal box spring. Bring your paperwork into a
(07:37):
local Living Spaces store and shout with somebody at the
store to make it happen. All the info at livingspaces
dot com and Renee to you and the whole team there.
Thank you so much for caring about people. Free mattresses
is a biggie. It's a nice gesture, a needed item
in the new chapter as we start the new chapter
at some point moving forward at some point. But it's
(07:58):
a very nice gesture, and we appreciate Shade, the kindness
and the love you have for our community and for
people going through such a tough time here in southern California.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
So thank you. It's livingspaces dot com for for all
the info.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Yeah, well, well we thank you for the time and
allowing us the opportunity to share this news.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
No, appreciate it. Thank you so much, Renee. We'll be
in touch, Okay, thank
Speaker 3 (08:17):
You, thank you.
