It's the Lori the Young Show podcast. If you missed the show this morning
because you'd rather hit snoozed than laugh, or want or relive some or all
of your favorite parts, we gotyou covered. Come on Literia Sadday's Best
Country ninety three point one w POCBaltimore now Top stories at the top of
the hour. Well, today,it's going to be the hottest day of
(00:22):
the week, with highest approaching recordlevels near one hundred degrees. The old
record of ninety nine was set backin nineteen fifty four, so we'll see
if we beat that. Today. The heat index is expected to rise up
to one hundred and four thanks toan increase in humidity, so it is
going to be pretty toasty out theretoday. A Code Orange era quality alert
is in effect for some areas,as the air may be unhealthy for folks
(00:42):
who suffer from asthma or other heatrelated issue heart related issues. The increase
in humidity will also prime the environmentfor thunderstorm development. This afternoon and evening,
a cold front brings scattered showers andstorms to central Maryland, the first
round being later today, and asecond round of rain could move through overnight
into tomorrow. It also does cooldown a little bit for tomorrow. We'll
see HIGs closer to ninety for Thursday. It's interesting there's a local weather guy
(01:06):
who's always talking about when the recordwas set, like what date, Yeah,
and whenever you hear and it wasset back in the fifties, you're
like, oh, so we couldhave we had hot days even back then.
Yeah, it's like like, forsome reason you think this is the
only time it's ever been this ud. Yeah. Like I was talking to
my dad about this because he livesin New Hampshire and they were setting all
these records last week too, andit's like, yeah, a hot day
(01:27):
will come around once in a while, but the number, it's the streak
and the frequency at which they're happening. Now that's concerning, I guess.
Is the point we've said we alreadyset two records over the weekend, Now
we're gonna set a third. Threenew records in a week is that's a
lot of records. Yeah. Ultramarathon swimmer Katie Pumfrey made history yesterday right
here in her home city. Shecompleted the more than twenty four mile swim
(01:48):
yesterday from Sandy Point State Park nearthe Bay Bridge to the Harbor Place Amphitheater
in the Inner Harbor. The thirtysix year old has a long resume of
big swims, but this one wasdifferent given that she's the first ever to
complete this type of swim in theBay and Harbor. Katie swim started just
after three am yesterday and completed shortlyafter five pm, making her run around
fourteen hours or so. She saidshe's been dreaming about this swim for a
(02:09):
long time and quote to be thefirst person to ever do it, to
champion women's sports and champion this amazingcity feels unbelievable. She's not stopping in
Baltimore. Next up for Katie isthe Catalina Channel, which is a swim
from Catalina to Los Angeles, whichI didn't even realize they were like that
close. I thought they were muchfurther apart. But we'll see what happens
with that book. Congratulations to Katie. It's this so cool. It was
(02:30):
really cool to watch. I don'tknow, because when you're watching an event
like that, you're like, Iknow some of those places that she's swimming
by, Like I've seen those landmarksI know, So it was kind of
cool to see that going on yesterday. Absolutely, all right, coming up
on your brief, Bethany, whatare you going to talk about? Oh?
MG, guys, I know whatyou're gonna eat. I've got your
food covered for the next week.Okay, all right, I'm hungry just
(02:52):
thinking about it. It is PostMalone and Morgan Wallen, I have some
help. It's Dustin Lynch with MackenziePorter, and it's six eleven to keep
us in the loop of entertainment andpop culture and the things we shouldn't care
about but somehow we really do.It's Bethany Brief on ninety three point one
(03:15):
WOC. So. Barbara Walters isgetting her own documentary on Hulu. It
will cover her career, which startedin the fifties, and of course she
was the first female anchor of TheToday Show. Yeah, no, I
think it's a great idea. Yeah, it's gonna be really cool, and
it's gonna have interviews from all kindsof people who knew her and archival footage,
(03:38):
which I'm kind of excited about. You talk about somebody with a hell
of a life. I mean, that's poor and I feel like kind of
an unsung hero heroine of her day. So that's gonna hit Hulu in twenty
twenty five. Hallmark is teaming upwith the Kansas City Chiefs for a holiday
touchdown, a Chief's love Story.I feel like we did we either talk
(04:00):
about this already or did we sortof wish this in due existence? I
can't remember you were wishing this innew existence? Oh yeah, Oh,
you're gonna love it. I mean, I'm a Hallmark fan, don't get
me wrong, but the last thingI need is Chiefs, the Kansas City
Chiefs. You feel like it soundsfamiliar though, Like it feels like there
was some conversation about this a whileback. Yeah, yeah, me too.
(04:20):
Okay, So the movie is goingto be filmed in Kansas City and
they're even going to use Arrowhead Stadium. It's going to start shooting next month.
Are you ready for the story?Yes? Okay. Alana Hangman is
confident her family's devotion to the KansasCity Chiefs will win them the Fan of
the Year contest. Derek the directorof fan engagement, Derek Yes, the
(04:43):
director of fan engagement for the Chiefs, is determined has to determine if they'll
win. He and Alanta grow closer, but a missing vintage chief hat threatens
threatens their fate. So we'll seehow that goes, but I will definitely
bey. I do think this Thisstory came out a while ago, but
it's getting more attention once again becauseof all of the Chiefs talk with the
(05:05):
Kicker and all that stuff. Nowthey're they're trying to details coming out.
Yeah, they're trying to paint itlike with the Kicker and the family values
and all that whatever they want togo with. I think that's why people
are picking up on the story nowversus when it first came out a while
ago. It's got me ready forthe holiday season or is it just because
it's so hot outside that I'm ready? But I'm ready for winter. Little
(05:29):
John's team has paired up with Pelotonfor a new artist series. I think
I think this is kind of interesting. You know, Peloton is like floundering
right now because everyone went back to, you know, not working out at
home all the time. So they'regoing to have a whole bunch of live
classes with artists and they've paired upwith Little John, So I think that's
kind of fun. Wendy's is offeringcustomers a free small frosty with your biggie
(05:55):
bag purchase in the Wendy's app throughthe end of the month, which is
quite a value. Okay, there'sa lot of food for five bucks.
I thought you're going to tie Wendy'sand Peloton together there. For a second.
I was like, oh, wow, that's an interesting partnership. Yes,
they pair nicely together. But herecomes the headline that you've been waiting
for. Texas Roadhouse has frozen rollsthat you can buy at stores. Now,
(06:20):
those are delicious rolls, but doyou get the butter? That's the
key. Okay, you do getit. It comes with it. Oh
that's exciting. I know, Iknow it. Okay. So they're going
to be available everywhere starting Saturday, but some Walmart stores accidentally stocked them already,
your accident. Uh huh, winkwink. So call your local Walmart
store. You won't get You won'tget anyone on the phone if you try
(06:44):
to call Walmart. But anyway, call anywhere, you won't get anyone.
So I'm I'm gonna grab some ofthose this weekend. I don't know what
you guys are doing in your life, all right, I think it's a
good idea, Okay, coming uphere in just a minute, silly things
that you and your significant other fightabout. Had one of those lately.
We do have a chance of showersor thunderstorms, but mostly sunny and hot.
(07:05):
Wood tempts near one hundred today seventythree outside. Of course, they
had that last night on the CMAFest special, that song with Jelly Roll
and Landy Wilson ninety three point oneWPOC. That was a very hot,
(07:25):
fun night. It looked like allyou could tell. Yeah, and Jelly
Roll he is so beloved, notjust by the audience but by other artists.
He did a lot of things withother people. He did a thing
with Keith Urban on guitar that wasjust great. It was so good.
It was like this electric moment.I thought, yeah, okay, and
(07:48):
they apparently their friends they were veryyou know, hugging and all that.
But anyway, it's worth watching.I would just throw that out there.
Jelly was one of your co hosts. So I saw this. The other
day. Somebody was talking about thefunny things that they had argued about in
a week with their significant other. It was a girlfriend. A guy was
talking about this. He said, well, we thought about how you should
(08:11):
cut a kiwi fruit in half.Should it be along the length or across
the middle that went on. Ialways thought it was across the middle because
of the way you see them onplates. They always look like circles.
So I'm thinking anyway, they thoughtabout the little toothpiste speckles that you make
when you brush your teeth in frontof the mirror. I guess somebody was
making this stuff that goes up onwhich type of iron to buy. Who
(08:37):
even buys an iron? They meanlike the supplement. I think they meant
I mean I am an iron.It doesn't say supplement, it just says
which type of My wife was justjoking about how mean an actual She saw
something online that was like a millennialThe one good thing millennials I've done is
collectively killed the iron. Yeah, yeah, you're right, we did.
(09:00):
It's over. It is over.Well not at my house. If I
know, I'm not a a levenyear. I'm just saying I still have
an ironing board and an iron setup in one of the empty rooms of
our house. All right, thingsthat are kind of silly. Have you
thought about anything recently that was justkind of that's ridiculous? If I ever
(09:20):
when we've been married so long thatwhenever I feel like we're going that way,
I'll just say to my husband, are you trying to pick a fight
because this is so stupid, Likethat's what you want right now? Are
you trying to pick a fight thathe'll got to realize? Yeah, no,
I'm not believe me, there's nolet's just drop this right now.
Have you thought about anything ridiculous withyour partners lately? Guys? Uh?
(09:45):
I think I I feel like,no, you're you're pretty in good standing.
Well it's you know early. Yeah, I haven't been together that long.
The dumb things we fight about tendto be conversations over a couple of
reality shows that we watched together, because I think we both read people differently.
(10:05):
So I will watch something and belike I kind of see where they're
coming from, and my wife willbe like, how dare you? Like?
What do you mean you can seewhere they're coming from? This is
all about oh, like all right, we're taking sides. We're taking this
too seriously. I've said, Iwas like, why are we fight?
This is stupid? It's rules.Their fake fight hasanda ball is not real.
(10:26):
It's what it's their TV personality. That's funny. All right, we
want to know what insignificant, weirdthing you are fighting about with your significant
other. You can text us sevenseven nine six two looks like on the
text somebody else's ironing still see thankyou? You know what I'm us.
(10:48):
I'm just surprised people that iron stillknow how to text. That's good.
You know you're off too. Ican tell you wow. At the hotel
that we went to when Turner waslittle, he was like, Mom,
what is this? And I waslike, that's an eye? That's awesome?
Did that make you feel bad asa mom for a minute? And
then I was like no, no, Yeah. We had a rotary phone
(11:11):
for years and our kids friends wouldcome over and if they had to call
home for something, they would juststand there and stare that. So how
does this operate? Go around? So yeah, seven seven nine six'
two. Start your text with hior hey if you're fighting about something that's
kind of stupid over at your place. We love these stories. You can
(11:33):
call us too, or I'll putit up on Facebook if you want to
post something. Here's Nate Smith.Usually so leon lads, pretty good,
bad mood bass, carry on theone ninety three point one WPOC. We
(11:54):
were talking about the silly things youand your partner are fighting about. Barb
said, we just thought about everything, which is why we got She didn't
need to go down the list.Did you get any text from anybody by
the day? So, yeah,Hey, my husband and I fight over
the word me or are I willsay my kids instead of our kids.
(12:16):
The other day my wife gave methis like scowl. I like my kid.
I was like, I mean ourchild. Yes, she gave us
look like your kid, I hadthis child? Or do you ever say
like when they're doing something wrong, like your your daughter both do each other?
Your daughter's being a nightmare tonight?Like it's oh, yeah, of
course. And then we got alot of ironing texts. Hey, I'm
(12:43):
I'm a millennial and I still ironshirt you h I have one of my
kids irons all the time. Theylove to iron. They're very But have
you said relaxing? I think so. I also love to start something and
then hear that that makes me sohappy. But have you ever steamed anything,
(13:05):
because that's that's where it's at.Yeah, I've got a steamer.
Doesn't count when you just hang itup in the shower while you're taking a
shower. Beneficial steam item. Yes, that can work. Tossing in the
dryer with the wet washcloth, that'swhat is that a thing? Oh?
Yeah, oh yeah, put it. If you put it in the shower,
or if you put it in thedryer while you're in the shower,
(13:26):
then it'll be nice and hot whenyou get out. Laundry tips on the
Laurie d. Young. Oh somebodyelse said they were fighting over sneaking miniatures
into a concert. Nice. There'sso much going on in this town to
keep me busy. I've been runningaround up and down all these avenues doing
everything, think and bath. Aslong as I stay on the mound,
(13:50):
fine, the city side of thecity, you don't really cross my mind.
(14:15):
Zach Brown, Bad Jimmy Buffett werewhat five minutes till seven? Now
it's Nashville News Now with Saint Pierreon ninety three point one WPOC. It's
a Cole Swindell and his wife,Courtney Little seemed to have so much fun
at their wedding that they decided todo it all over again just ten days
after the pair got married in aprivate family ceremony in California. They decided
(14:37):
to have a big party in Nashvillewith all of their friends to celebrate,
so this time, instead of justa few close family members, they invited
more than two hundred and fifty oftheir closest friends. Courney Little Swindell said
they loved the intimacy of the privateceremony, but also want to celebrate with
their favorite people. Pictures of theevent looked like a massive wedding basically,
but it did come complete with araising Cane's food truck. You got to
have that there. I find thisidea interesting because I we have two friends
(15:00):
in Nashville that are doing something similar. They're getting married in Mexico. I
believe it is as like a destinationwedding where they're going to come back to
Nashville and throw a big party forall the friends they can't go to the
wedding, And I think, whynot just have one big wedding, Like
it just seems like it's going tocost you a lot more money to have
two of them versus just having one. But whatever. I sort of liked
the idea of like a sweet, little intimate ceremony. No, I get
(15:22):
that. I get that, likewe had friends, Amanda's my wife's I
guess cousin got married and they gotmarried that day in like a very private
little ceremony, but then then cameback like to the risk, Like so
we weren't invited to the wedding,we were invited to the reception, which
that was kind of interesting. Solike there was only like eight people at
the wedding, but they went tothe reception where everybody else was, which
I guess is a similar idea, but it's all in one place on the
(15:45):
same day. I don't know whatever. We talked about Luke Bryan's annual Crash,
my event that's having its tenth anniversaryin January. Brandy Carlisle also going
to be in Mexico in January forher sixth annual Girls Just Wan a weekend
festival. This event runs from Januarysixteenth through the twentieth. Their calling Blind
Faith pre sales that begin tomorrow.I guess blind Faith just means they haven't
given you any details yet, butyou might want to buy the tickets just
(16:06):
because you like the event. Moredetails about the festival will be announced soon,
and post Malone has announced that we'reexpecting to be his big country tour.
He's got his new album F onetrillion coming out soon and now he's
preparing for a tour with the samename. Got about two dozen dates on
here. None of them are likein the immediate area around Baltimore, but
he will be stopping in Hershey,Pennsylvania on September twentieth, if you want
to try to make it up there. Actually has some interesting stops scheduled for
(16:30):
this tour, Like he doesn't.He kind of avoids a lot of the
major cities, which is interesting.Like I would think for a big tour
you'd want to go to like thebigger markets. But there's a lot of
like fun though, a lot ofoff market stops here. If you want
to try and catch a show though, you could register now for pre sale
access at postmolone dot com slash shows. All right, we've got Jordan Davis
ready to go with Tucson too Lateninety three point one WPOC. I didn't
(17:00):
know if we were over just overten. Today's Best Country ninety three point
one w POC Baltimore Now Top storiesat the top of the hour, Herbie
Oriols dropped their fifth straight game, and last night's ten to eight loss to
the Guardians at Camden Yards. It'stheir longest losing streak since twenty twenty two.
Team says they aren't doubting themselves andthey are trying to look at the
(17:22):
long game here. Baltimore hopes toavoid the sweep in the final game of
the series tonight at six thirty five. I told you yesterday about how Triple
A is expecting record setting travel aroundJuly fourth. It seems air travelers are
already setting records. This week's onall time high for air travel. The
TSA screen nearly three million travelers onJune twenty third alone. That's the most
ever screened in one day. Thatcomes ahead of the fourth of July weekend,
(17:45):
which the TSA expects to be arecord breaking travel week as well.
It expects to screen more than thirtytwo million for the holiday week, nearly
five and a half percent higher thanlast year. And we could be coming
to the end of another era.So we learned recently that Red Lobster is
filing for bankruptcy, closing locations afterdeclining sales as people shift away from large
chain restaurants. It also looks likeanother famous restaurant is struggling Hooters announced it's
(18:07):
closing at least forty four underperforming Hootersrestaurants across fourteen states. Say it ain't
so. The company says it's inresponse to pressure from current market conditions.
Now. While Hooters is not officiallyannounced which locations closed, journalists did find
at least forty four locations that haverecently closed their doors. One of those
is in Maryland. It's that locationdown at the Inner Harbor. But that's
no surprise since the area is beingredeveloped and it was likely to close anyway.
(18:30):
So not a shock in that onethere. But interesting, another big
brand, and you know, itdoes seem like that shift away from chain
restaurants is really starting to hammer someof these big names that we've known for
such a long time. So we'llsee what happens with them. That's your
news update, all right. Ido have a pair of tickets. Our
ticket window is now open. ConnorSmith is going to be a power Plant
live July twelfth. If you wantto go see him, give us a
call caller nine. The tickets areyours eight hundred and three two one thirty

Red Paisley, Alabama, ninety threepoint one w poc bum dow Mon's here,
Hello, sweat today? What elkis gonna be a hot one outside?
(19:15):
Well, they're saying like one hundreddegrees maybe, Yeah, that's a
lot of degrees. That's too manydegrees. It's way too many. The
dog doesn't like it. Your dogdoesn't hates it. And it's a small
dog too, just can't handle theheat. Loves the cold. You think
a lot of times it's the bigfree dogs. That's you know. I'm
sure they do too, But littledogs are bodies. Just heat don't so
fat. He gets panty. Yeah, my dog loves it. She goes
(19:38):
outside and lays in the sun.And I get concerned. I have a
husky case, and I get concernedthe people are going to walk by our
house and be like, there's adead dog in the backyard. No,
she's she's loving every saving. That'sI'm saying. I think the bigger dogs,
I don't know the heat disperses intheir but I don't know what happens.
But dogs, they're Yeah, theysteam. My dog is a heart
(19:59):
prop them too, So we worryabout that. Yeah, you gotta be
careful. Oh my gosh, Yeahyou got that under control. Oh sure
later, Yeah I got that.Yeah, I've spent a couple of thousand
in the last week for the dogs. Okay, so Kimmel. You know,
Martin Short is hosting while Kimmel's outthis summer, at least for part
(20:21):
of the time. And last nighthe was talking about Hooters. Here's smart.
We have so much to get tohere, starting with the heartbreaking news
that everyone is talking about. Hootersyesterday announced they are closing dozens of their
underperforming locations. Yeah, I know. Why is it that an underperforming Hooters
(20:42):
is sad, but an overperforming Hootersis a brothel? I don't understand.
He also had Jelly roll on asa guest, and so Jelly did this
little kind of freestyle thing. Herewe go. Well, I can't believe
I'm doing this. I'm sitting byyour side. I can't believe I'm sitting
with the folly. I say thatcrazy to me. I'm in between Martin
(21:08):
Sword and the lady from Glee.So he played the wedding plans the show,
but it was still that's okay,it's okay, it's all right.
You were close. She had theright movie. All right, it's probably
hard to rhyme wedding planner. Maybeit was something so Bride that worked out
better. So a short and sweetgood news story today. You like the
(21:32):
TV show The Bear, I suredo. Can't wait. Yep, it's
back tonight. So there you go. That's it. That's my TV shows
airing. That's well, it's ashow that a lot of people have been
waiting. Okay, great because theyreally like that show. What a lot
of more? Yes, it's verygood. Maybe we'll get it tonight.
(21:52):
You're not fine. That is agood news for you tomorrow if I watch
you can find your girl on aFriday night dancing in the back of a
bond the sun in morning, handsup saying a front row in the choir.
(22:12):
You can find you a girl througha friend of a friend. She
could show the pride out of theblue. It don't matter where you find
her, just as long as youfind you girl leaves your spaces. It's
loud on the damn Kenny Chesney. It's eight eleven to keep out in the
(22:36):
loop of entertainment and pop culture andthe things we shouldn't care about, but
somehow we really do It's Bestia Freeon ninety three point one WOC. The
investigation into Matthew Perry's death continues eightmonths after his fatal drug overdose. This
is interesting too, it is Iguess multiple people could be charged. His
(22:59):
ketamine over was determined to be accidental, but the DA and the US Postal
Inspector have been looking into where thekedemine came from that killed him. Rep
from the US Attorney's Office hasn't commented. I'm interested to see who gets who
gets taken down for this yea.And why Mattel is making some games color
(23:21):
blind accessible. They're working to makeUno and other you know, games that
are color based a little bit moreeasy for people to use. Eighty percent
of its games should be accessible bythe end of the year, in ninety
percent by next year. They're gonnastart using symbols and other various ways to
make it easier for everyone to play. I think that's kind of sweet.
(23:42):
Taylor Swift has made a difference inthe UK by donating to each to wor
stops. She did that here inthe US too. That seems to be
making a little bit of more ofan impact in the UK, though maybe
the money goes a little bit further. She donated eleven thousand ME to one
of the food banks and apparently itchanged it, like it fed so many
(24:04):
more people. They've never had adonation that big in the history of the
food bank. So yeah, Ilove that. And lastly, TikToker at
I Don't Tip said that he savesroughly one hundred and fifty dollars a week
by refusing to tip, including itrestaurants. Now, people in the comment
(24:25):
section had a whole bunch of stuffto say on his videos, like you
have to tip it sit down restaurants, you know, this kind of thing.
Yea, And he said, well, I'm trying to make a social
impact and I have to. Youknow, if I'm gonna not tip,
I'm gonna not tip across the book. Yeah, so I kind of get
what he's doing. I don't thinkit's fair to the people who like mis
serving him well, don't make alot of money. You don't know though,
(24:47):
like you don't know who's paying theiremployees and who's not paying you know.
I just think the whole thing isreally I mean, obviously we've talked
about that on the show before. You know, about tipping but one hundred
and fifty dollars on average a week. That's wild. What are you doing
that you're going to all these placesthat you're saving that much money on not
tips, is what I want toknow. Well, it's in la So
I don't know if that. Imean, I think that makes a little
(25:07):
bit of a difference. But hesaid that one time he went to go
buy like a bun like a cinnamonrule, and it was three dollars,
and then it gave you the optionslike would you like to tip one,
two or three dollars? And he'slike, no, I would like to
tip no dollars, Like, yeah, it's a three dollars bun like and
you didn't you just handed it tome, right, that's your actual job.
Yeah, I think we all agreetipping has gotten a little out of
(25:27):
control at a lot of these places. But I do I think when things
like this do make headlines, it'sdetrimental to the folks that really need to
rely on those tips at restaurants becausethey're not making minimum wage. They have
a different minimum wage than what alot of other people have, So like,
if you don't tip them, theymight that's like two dollars an hour
for them if you're not tipping them, and that's not fair. I wonder
(25:49):
if there's a solution here where well, one, like in Europe the employers
could just pay the employees. Ortwo maybe there's like a I don't know,
a code or something like where weknow as consumers if you're actually if
it's expected, you know, right, I don't know. But now they've
got us paying tips and the creditcard fees. And I'm like, wait
(26:12):
a minute, low down, youwant me to pay for everything? Yes,
they do, that's the answer, bummer. We've got a hot day
today. We've got temperatures going toabout one hundred degrees. We could see
some showers, maybe a thunderstorm.I looked and it's up to seventy eight
now outside. We'll have a chancefor you to win some tickets to go
(26:32):
see Dan and Shay here in justa few minutes. That Day's Best Country
ninety three point one w POC,Baltimore now Top stories at the top of
the hour. All right, SoI find this lawsuit to be kind of
interesting. It's been brewing for abouttwo decades now and involves credit card fees.
So you know, like when yougo to a gas station, and
you see the price of gases differentfor cash and for credit. Well,
they blame that on swipe fees thatcredit card companies charge businesses. That's why
(26:56):
you're getting charged more for your creditpurchase at again station. There's been a
lawsuit out there from businesses against Visa, MasterCard and the banks that work with
them. The businesses argued that thefinancial companies had too much power over the
swipe fees, or the amounts thatretailers must pay to accept a credit card
payment. Now, there was asettlement recently, but many large retailers aren't
happy with the outcome because they thinkthe swipe fee should be even lower than
(27:18):
they already are. Last year, banks and other financial groups raked in one
hundred and seventy two billion dollars inswipe fees alone. It's major business for
credit card companies right now. Iguess there's another rule involves here too,
called the Honor All Cards stipulation. That means that if a business wants to
accept one type of credit card,it has to accept all cards under the
Visa or MasterCard umbrella, no matterwhat bank is behind them, or if
(27:41):
they cost more in swipe fee.So like if you have an M and
T Bank visa that has a threepercent swipe fee and there's a Capital one
visa that has a nine percent swipefee. The businesses want to be able
to say we will not accept Capitalone visas, but they can't right now
because if they accept visa from one, they have to accept all visas,
and they want to say, no, we can't do that. And honestly,
the businesses here, I think whatthey're trying to do would also help
(28:03):
the consumers because there might be achance that we'd have to they would drop
prices on things as well. Sowe'll see, but there's likely to either
be a new settlement that offers abetter deal for merchants or this case may
go to trial, which also couldbe interesting, and maybe then gas will
be the same price across the boardand not if you're paying in cash or
in credit card. I've also beennoticing a lot of those fees being transferred
to us, like, oh yeah, well, that's where it comes from.
(28:26):
Like the businesses aren't going to pickthem all up. I mean a
lot of places do. They justkind of even it out, because if
you're doing a lot of transactions, you don't really notice the difference the same
way. But it's like those simplelike if you go to buy a food
at a food truck and they're like, well, you have to pay at
least ten dollars, it's to beworth it for us to swipe your credit
card. So if they get ridof them, or they lower them enough,
I think that could benefit us forsure, which would be great,
(28:47):
all right for it beautiful. Comingup on Bethanes's brief, what are you
talking? Okay? Well, alongthe same lines, there's a TikToker who
has stopped tipping all together. Isaw that. I will tell you how
much money he saved in one weekjust by not tipping. It's kind of
wild. We'll find out more.Right after. Kenny Chesney down town,
(29:10):
lous Locke. It's New Year's Eve. Find some bar you can halfway breathe

Tyler Hubbard ninety three point one WPOC. We've got Alan Jackson coming up,
some music from Jason al Dean too. But we were talking about this yesterday
at Beverly Hills Cop. The original. Yeah, yeah, so I think
(29:52):
there's I think the behind the scenesstuff from movies and something we don't know
about is always fun when it comesout because there's a lot of working pieces
to how movies, books, TVshows, whatever come together. Yeah,
so I think it's kind of interestingwhen you hear how things were initially thought
to be. So this new BeverlyHills Cop movie is coming out of Netflix
next week, Beverly Hills Cop four, and they've got pretty much as much
(30:15):
of the original cast that's still livingback for this movie. And one of
those cast members is Judge Reinhold. So they've all been making the rounds doing
different TV appearances. But Judge Reinholdstopped by a sports show that I watch
and they were talking about the originalBeverly Hills Cop and he was talking about
how he had this sort of auditionwith one person in particular, and that
(30:36):
person was Sylvester Stallone. Now ifyou've seen Beverly Hills Cop then you know
he's not in the movie. ButInitially, he said the movie was supposed
to be a vehicle for Sylvester Stallone, which I thought was interesting, Like
the initial idea of Beverly Hills Copwas supposed to be a little bit darker
and a little more gritty. Iwas going to say, because at the
time, I mean, nobody waslooking at Sylvester salone as being funny,
(30:56):
right, yeah, and he doescertainly have a sense of humor, but
you're right, at the time hewas rocky. Uh he was he was
Rambo like. It was more seriousaction stuff. So they that's what the
initial idea was. And I guessat some point before the movie started getting
made, Judge Reinhold joked that theproduction team talked Stallone out of doing it,
like they're like, hey, youknow what, I don't know if
(31:17):
this is the right thing for you, but we have this movie called Cobra
that we think you'd be great for. So he went on, I don't
know Cobra, but he went onto do the movie Cobra. And then
after that, Reinhold was like,I thought the movie was dead in the
water, but then all of asudden it kind of got some new life.
And Eddie Murphy was attached to it, and they like didn't rewrite the
script, but they changed a lotof it to make it more like it's
still a cop movie and it's stillgot action, but it was much more
(31:37):
humorous. Yes, And Judge Reinoldwas like, I mean, I can't
picture it any other way, Like, it was clearly the right decision to
make it an Eddie Murphy movie andto make any You kind of wonder if
they had done it with Stallone, would it have been as big of a
hits. See. I think Ithink that's interesting too, Like you hear
about movies like roles that people turneddown and then it turned into you know,
big things for other folks. Like, but there's no garantee that if
(32:00):
they had taken that role, ifit would have been a big thing.
Yeah, Like it might not havebeen the same thing. So I think
all these stories are sort of fascinating. But yeah, I can't I can't
picture Beverly Hills Cop as like aserious movie. Like to me, it's
it's just such a great film asa comedy. There's enough serious cop movies
we got. Yeah, But Imean, I imagine that was a time
(32:21):
when a lot of those things werehappening, like you had a lot of
those sort of like dark cop futuristic, like all those different things coming out
the style. Yeah, it wasthe style exactly. So yeah, I'm
kind of glad they went the comedyroute because it really turned out to be
great. And I'm not sure Cobrawas a big hit. Yeah. Again,
I think I've made some money, but yeah, yeah, that is.
I think it is interesting to hearbackstories on stuff like that. There's
(32:44):
so many of them that we neverhad. Like there was just an article
today about Channing Tatum talking about howthey I guess there was a script for
twenty three Jump Street. They weregoing to do a third film, him
and Jonah Hill, and he saidit was the best script I ever read,
but for whatever reason it didn't cometo fruition. They didn't make it.
Tatum can read. That was mything, That's what I said,
best script. Do you ever read? First script? Do you ever read?
(33:06):
So it seems like a lovely guy. You say that now after you,
I think he would get the joke. He would love that. Just
give me the hard time, allright, We've got Jason Aldan in Trouble

we can finally say tomorrow we're gonnahave a new sound coming up here
in a minute. Stuff your parentswould not let you watch on TV when
you were a kid. We'll talkabout it. I've met Saint Pierre and
I have very small Yeah, we'vegot a sunny day, a hot day,
a chance of showers or thunderstorms inthe area, so just kind of
an interesting weather day. Temps couldbe up around one hundred this after noon.
(40:00):
We're just seventy six. So thisis where it is. Bailey Zimmerman
ninety three point one WPOS Today's BestCountry. If you missed the CMA Fest
special last night, by the way, that was on ABC for any reason,
because I was just thinking about itbecause Bailey sang on there. You
(40:22):
can check it out on Hulu today. They've got it. So someone was
talking to a friend of theirs aboutjust the stuff they loved to watch today
on TV, and then they gotinto this conversation about how when her friend
was growing up, her and herbrother were not allowed to watch The Simpsons,
they weren't allowed to watch MTV.I know at our house because when
(40:43):
I was a kid, there wasn'tanything you could get that much trouble watching
because we only had so many channels. But I remember my husband didn't like
our kids watching friends interesting. Ohyeah, was there. I think it
was just he didn't like the ideaof just how they were living their lives.
He just found that. I can'tremember what he said exactly, but
(41:06):
I guess the themes of some ofthe shows. I don't know they watched
it. I know they were sneakwatching it because I would walk into the
room and see somebody watching it.But I know he did not want them
watching that. What about your folks? I was a no MTV household?
And why what was it about theMTV? They thought the videos were too
(41:30):
just too like bad naughty? Yeah, I believe naughty that my mom used.
Yes, uh, she didn't knowthat I was watching nine o two
one oh and Sex and the Cityand learning all of that stuff steamy,
okayops, Saint Pierre. I knowthere was stuff you couldn't watch. Yeah,
(41:52):
I mean it was essentially I wasn'ton to watch the Fox network or
MTV, like that's pretty much thetwo things that were off limits because Fox.
You have to remember they were kindof like the upstart cable or not
cable, the upstart like broadcast network, and their stuff was primarily like a
living color what was that? TheBundies, Mary with Children, the Simpsons,
(42:12):
which all got a lot of kindof weird press about how they're like
racy and doing weird things on thoseshows. And then MTV. I think
my parents were would fall victim toa headline right like they would see something
in the news and be like,I can't believe this is happening on TV.
I wouldn't be allowed to watch it. But I think if they look
back on now, they'd be like, wow, that really wasn't that bad,
Like they're really anything that bad there. But but yeah, so I
(42:36):
mean I still watched all of them, Okay, but all right, I
think kids still snuck around watching them. I guess I didn't really watch,
Like I didn't watch a lot ofFox, Like I snuck MTV like it
was my job. I didn't wakeup earlier than everybody in my house just
so I could go downstairs and watchMTV. We didn't have we didn't have
a remote control, so I actuallylike built it wasn't it wasn't connects,
but it was something like connects.I actually built like a long stick with
(43:00):
them so I could hit the TVchannel, the switching channel. If I
heard my parents coming, like,I could hit it from my couch.
They wouldn't know that I was watchingBeavis and butt Head. I evolved.
Yeah, all right, we wantto know what it was. Your folks
would not let you watch on television, so you can text us seven seventy
