Speaker 1 (00:00):
Evan Brown joined us now. Our Fox correspondent in Miami
been following what's happening with the attacks on Pete Hegseth
and the signal I guess text messaging platform. Now the
Democrats are saying, oh, yeah, he did it again. We
can let's get him fired here and it's always anonymous
sources right well, they're claiming at the White House, hogwash,
not happening.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Evan, good morning, welcome in, thanks for being here. Good morning.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
So where are we this process? Pete Hegseth was just
on Fox News saying not true. They're coming after us
because they don't like what we're doing here. Others have
said it's the government contractors that are tied to wars
because Pete doesn't want war and the contractors do, so
they're going to come after him. Democrats are coming after him.
I mean, it's just everywhere. So and the White House
(00:42):
is saying for this is excuse me, fake news.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Well yeah, that's been the complaint here that I think.
This latest round began with anonymous sources in the New
York Times saying that Pete hegg Seth shared what first
was described as classified information is now being described as
sensitive and information which could mean anything in a signal
group chat which included his wife and his private attorney,
(01:09):
which who may not have security clearances. I guess you know,
normally that's not the case that they would have security
clearances people like that, So that, of course sounds pretty bad.
NPR then comes along and says the White House is
considering replacing Pete Hegseth. The White House comes back and
says none of this is true, that no information that
(01:31):
shouldn't have been shared was shared, and that we're not
looking to replace Pete hagg set as Secretary of Defense.
So the question, and I think as you put it earlier,
was that the anonymous sourced story creates a narrative which
gets generated in online text, which then gets shared across
the Internet and all these other news stations that rely
(01:51):
on wire services or newspapers that rely on wire services.
The original story stays up and gets indexed in search
engines and all that stuff, and it's still there if
you were to google named Pete Hegseth, it's more likely
the New York Times and the NPR story comes up
than the refutation by the President, even though York Time
(02:12):
story itself is more than twelve to eighteen to twenty
four hours old at this point. So that's part of
the problem here is that these these stories, which are
easily refuted, don't necessarily make the you know, make the
cycle that most people use to consume their news. And
that's you know, that's a systemic problem. But it's it's
(02:35):
you know, you can make the argument that there are
forces using that cycle to push a narrative.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Well, sure, I mean, do we need to go back
to the Russia hoax?
Speaker 1 (02:43):
I mean, come on, Democrats are be it far, you know,
reaching for them to make up lies and put it
out there and just say, well, we'll just roll this
hand grenade over here and see what happens.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
And you know, of course it's not true. But if
we say it is.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
And you know, everybody that's addicted to social media seceders
and say, well look here he's doing it again. He
needs to go, and then that's snowfalls.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Couple of we've seen a couple of high profile bureaucrats
from the Pentagon being either dismissed or put on leave
in the past few days in connection with the investigation
to find the leaker, you know, and people might be
up in arms over that.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
But this wouldn't fly.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
In any private corporation. If you were evulging internal communications
at your company, you get fired for that.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
One hundred percent one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
So as far as where this goes now, hopefully this
will be put to bed and put the rest and
go away, because once again Pete Hegseth and Whitehouse are
saying this is hogwasher just coming after me.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Evan, thank you for the update this morning. I appreciate
you
