Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joining us now. Former four term US Congressman Jim or
Nacy is back to talk about what's happening with DOGE
and the Supreme Courts ruling now. Jim, welcome back in.
Always good to catch up with you.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Good morning, Jja.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
I hope you're doing well, doing well here. So I
thought Elon Musk was doing pretty well here. The president's
moving lightning speed. He's been here, been through all this before,
and he hit the ground running with what needs to
be done in this country. No more learning the ropes
and seeing his way around the systems. He knows at
all when it comes to the systems and how to
get things done. So let's go and one of the

(00:32):
big things even Democrats talk about, which is still just
so alarming to me, how Democrats are pushing back so
hard on Doge, because you know, they were all about
it too. They talked about the budgets, they talked about
cleaning up wasteful spending, they talked about reducing debt for
our nation. And here we go at lightning speed. It
seems to be underweight. But all of a sudden, wait

(00:53):
a minute, you're cutting two much, you're taking on social services,
and who knows how many you know, little skimmers they
have out there in the Democratic Party and in Deep
State and even some Republicans, you know, making all kinds
of side money off of the DOGE payments that were
going out, you know, before Elon showed up. So with
that said, now we got the Supreme Court that had

(01:14):
to come involved to get involved in all of this,
and they've ruled basically that hey, the fraud, the waste,
and the abuse continue, Let's keep funding it. Now, what's
going on here?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Well, JT again, for your listeners, you got to remember
that Congress actually is the body that makes the decisions
on how money has spent. The President just implements it. Now,
over the years when I was in Congress, we knew
there was waste, broad abuse. We attempted to cut it,
but it was very difficult to get four hundred and

(01:45):
thirty five people to agree, especially when some of that
money affected their individual districts. Which is interesting because some
of it, of course is waste brought an abuse. So
I've said all along, the big problem DOGE has is
they don't have the constitutional authority to cut and they

(02:06):
have to get Congress to do it, which is what
we ran up against these wasteful spendings have been around
for years and we've known about them, but getting enough
votes has been a problem. One other thing JT. Your
listeners should really pay attention to. We're going to be
funding this government by March fourteenth, and there's been a

(02:26):
question is whether those Doge cuts should be put in
the funding or not. And the Speaker of the House
does not have the votes. So what you're going to
see next week most likely is a clean R which
means that this Congress is going to pass a CR
which is going to say we're going to allow spending
to continue, including all of those Doge cuts that should

(02:50):
have been put into the spending bill. And that's going
to show you that Congress really doesn't have the will
to do what dog is coming up with.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Why why don't they want to go through with this
wasteful spending, overspending, ridiculous spending and start to clean things
up and had this train in the right direction. Is
there not fiduciary responsibility to the taxpayers when their money's
going in to feed some of these stupid things.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Well there is, and most members of Congress will look
at some of the stuff and say, well wait, a minute,
let's do an evaluation. Let's I don't understand it. I mean,
there are a lot of big spending items. But I'll
tell you how this can be fixed. And I've been
pushing this. All President Trump has to do is veto
that spending bill now. And he could say, I'm going
to veto it until you send me a spending bill

(03:38):
that doesn't include all this waste fraud abuse. The problem
is we've gotten too close to a government shutdown, and
President Trump doesn't want to shut the government down and
Congress doesn't want to shut the government down. But I
got to tell you, if I was president the United States,
that's what I would do to force this to happen.
Veto it. Hey, you guys, stay there until you fix this,

(04:00):
and force Congress to stay in Washington, DC until they
fix these problems. I will tell you after serving for years,
that's the only way to get it done. Because members
of Congress do not want to stay there. They want
to go home on a weekly basis. I did too,
because I thought we were wasting our time. But if
we were forced into making these decisions, then it would happen.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah, with over one hundred and five billion dollars in
reported savings in just six weeks. I mean, there is
some action going on here, and obviously a lot of
wasteful and you know, useless spending, and they're cleaning it up.
And I agree with you that they've got to come
to a point where they can agree on this. And
if the President veto's this and he kicks a can

(04:42):
down the road just to keep the you know, the
government open, how long would that be? First of all?
And secondly, at the end of the day, with control
of the Senate, the House, and the White House, can't
this get back on track and move forward or is
it a majority of approval and not just the one vote?

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Well, it does look like from what I'm reading every day,
and I get reports that they're going to pass the
c R to the end of September, which means all
these DOGE cuts are pretty much going to stay in
place until the end of September. They're going to try
and write another bill to make some of these cuts.
But in the end, the real problem is Congress is

(05:23):
so divided. The Democrats are not going to support it,
and the Republicans are going to have to pass it
on their own. But some of these Republicans also, this
spending affects their district. And that's the real problem in Washington.
When you have four hundred and thirty five individuals who
have to get elected every two years, they get very
concerned passing things that cut spending that affect their district.

(05:47):
And that's really the key. Even if it's wasteful, some
of it goes toward their district and something that's going
on in their district, they get very concerned about coming
out spending.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah, you're right that many people in Congress, they all
have individual needs back home. But still at some point
we've got to be more responsible with what we're spending
money on. I mean, I think we can get the
majority of Congress unless you're just voting no on the
Democratic side to say no to anything Trump does. But
when we're sending stupid money to foreign countries and it
doesn't affect Americans, I would think those would be automatics. Yeah,

(06:20):
we'll vote for cutting that.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Well. I will tell you one thing and again from
my time in Congress, when when even when Barack Obama
was president, we were Republicans voted know on anything that
the Democrats wanted to do. They were just we just
voted no and force the majority party to do what's
necessary since they have control. It'll be interesting to see

(06:42):
how many Democrats go along with that, because if the
Democrats stand united, Republicans are the ones who will have
to make these cuts occur, and that gets tougher and
tougher when you only have a couple seat majority in
the House of Representatives.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
All right, pull your crystal ball out, Jim. Does Doe
continue to move forward as planned at some point or
is it dead?

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Well? I think those will continue. Look, the best thing
that can happen with Elon Musk and President Trump is
to keep exposing this and exposing this and exposing this.
If you go back eight years, ten years, twelve years,
even back to Reagan, Reagan had a commission that exposed
all this. But the problem is you exposed it and
you move on, nothing gets done. What this president, I

(07:24):
think is going to do, when Elon Musk are going
to continue to do, is not an expos it, but
keep showing the American people because that's probably the only
way to fix it. Force Congress to eliminate this wasteful
spending and these programs that aren't working. And by the way,
The other best way to do it is force Congress
to do their job, zero based budget appropriation bills and

(07:48):
get their job done. Don't leave Washington until it's over with.
I swear if you force Congress to stay in Washington,
DC until they get this done, they'll get it done.
All right.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Very good Nacy. Always good to catch up with a
great insight. Thank you, sir, I appreciate you. It
