Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm very fortunate in my job that I have the
ability and the contact information to be able to reach
out to people like Senator Katie Britton, Senator Tuberville, our
Attorney General Steve Marshall, even Tom.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Holman who is now the.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Borders are And in five seconds I get responses from
all these people and I don't want to thank them,
but you try and get hold of Jimmy Fale now
it's like Robin Ford Knox to get through the security
on you.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Jimmy, welcome in, Thanks for being with me.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Yeah, we don't get a lot of good cell phone
reception at Hooters. That's the problem.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Well, Jimmy Fayala joins us now our friend and has
got his big event coming up next Thursday Night of Comedy.
It's Fox nations first big ever event like this, and
you and some other comedians are going to just rocket
and have a great time. So, by the way, congratulations
on all your success. I know you're originally a cab
driver in New York City. Were you ever driving that
cab thinking one day I'm going to be on Fox
(00:53):
Television and my Night of Comedy special going on?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
And it's success that you have had.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
I definitely dreamt about it, and I definitely this was
my life goal. But most days you spend it in
New York City taxi. Your goal is to live to
the end of the shift. And then there's those other days.
There's those other days where your goal is to not
live by the end of the shift. It's a rough ride, man.
And the one thing I would tell you, JT is
(01:21):
that whenever somebody uses the term like, oh, this guy's
an overnight success, what that really means is you've been
working the overnight shift for twenty years, right, and somebody
finally recognized it. So here we are.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Well, that is so awesome and I'm looking forward to
the special. Now is this going to be live on
Fox Nation or is this a taped event that will
see what it will be live?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Now? What it is? So, yeah, Thursday night, December twelfth
on Fox Nation. It's next Thursday, and we're streaming it,
just like we did the Patriot Awards last night. So
last night I was on stage of the Patriot Awards
telling jokes in front of all my bosses and Donald
Trump sitting in the front row, and it was a
pretty surreal experience. It was like, are a weird dream
you have, yes, right dream, the President was at my
(02:03):
show and my boss showed off, you know that whole thing.
But this one is the complex, just raw comedy. It's
me Jim Brewer, Adam Carolla, a good Italian comic name
Anthony Rodilla, like very Italian, like his family fixes horse
races for a living, right, And we're going to have
a great night, the four of us. And it's pure comedy,
(02:24):
so we're essentially tough. Fox bills it as like there's
no rules, nothing is off limits, which is basically a
way of saying that if we told these jokes on TV,
we'd get.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Fired, right, Okay, good, good, Well, so it'll be a
lot of fun. And you are a funny guy, and
so are these other comedians that you're going to be with.
And you know when you started and you did stand
up comedy, obviously that's part of you know who you
are and how you got started. And now you've got
these television shows and podcasts and radio and everything you're
doing with Fox is just amazing. Do you still have
the opportunity to get out and travel the country and
(02:57):
do any stand up at all?
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yeah? You have to because like for me, everything I'm
doing at Fox is based on comedy. Like, no one's
bringing a former cab driver on for serious analysis. You know,
I went to community college. I majored in Nintendo, you know,
so they don't really need my take on world events,
take economy, well, thank you, but it's my job is
to kind of like cartoon the world. So the thing is,
(03:21):
when you're out doing stand up on the weekends, you know,
after I take my TV show, I'll either go to
a club in New York City or like tonight, you know,
I'm going, you know, going live up in Syracuse and
then tomorrow my TV showill be live. But you know,
you got to get out and be in the club,
you know, developing new stuff because what happened to us
as comics is we used to have a lazy profession
(03:42):
and now you wrote an hour worth of jokes and
you told them for three years till you wrote a
new one. But now the news cycle moves so fast
and there's so many new targets to shoot out every
day that if you're not writing and performing constantly, like
there's no way to stay at like none. So it's
a it's a it's a hamster wheel. I'm on a
comedy amster wheel where you're just running circles all day
(04:03):
laughing about it.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Well, I'm telling you your success is just amazing and
pretty inspirational for people that are in the entertainment world
that want to get started and keep going and just
keep fighting to get to where you want to be.
I mean, sometimes it takes, you know, a couple of
years and you're lucky, and sometimes you get lucky at
twenty years.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
But you know, you have persevered.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
And I think you're a great example of you know,
if you want it in this country, you can go
get it. Just keep drugging along and getting after it.
So well, I hope you can get to the comedy
club start home here in Birmingham at some point.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
And got to happen.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
You know, we got to make that happen, Jimmy, so.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Well, listen we go it to the American people.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah, I'm going to be watching Thursday, and look, you
tell your handler when when JT calls, give me the call,
but putting me down, you know, Okay.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
I'll let the bag man. Now now that they pardon Hunter,
he can take calls again.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
I'll let him know, all right, Jimmy Fayla. Thank you, buddy,
I appreciate you. Congrats on everything too.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Love you, JT. I'll see you, see brother all right.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Thank you,
