Speaker 1 (00:00):
To Alabama's Morning News. I'm JT and coming up right
here in just a few minutes. Scott Dawson is back
in from Dawson Evangelistic Association. I got it right. Welcome.
Good to see buddy.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Hey, It's always good to be with you, especially during
this time of the year.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Well, I mean, it's been a while since we've caught up.
I haven't seen you in a while, and you know,
personally wanted to see you, but really, honestly, I have
no religenda with you. I just wanted to talk to
Jesus and what's going on this week. But I see
your Master's quarters zip pull over. You look very nice today. Well,
thank you. Were you there in Augustine?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
No, no, I was in Georgia. I was in Columbus
at a facility, at a church, and man, they had
fifty seven decisions for Christ just yesterday. I love a
church that just bleeds for evangelism because you found people,
find people. That's what I've kind of and I want.
The only thing better than going to heaven is going
to heaven with somebody, you know. So these guys are

(00:56):
just doing well. They're doing a Columbus Civic center this
Sunday praying for eight thousand people to show up, three
thousand salvations like Pentecost, so I love that kind of stuff.
I'll be in Knoxville doing a citywide up there. So
it's kind of a great this week. Everybody seems to
start thinking through this.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Is a busy time of the year for you because
you're out and the weather's good and you're doing But
you're busy all year long. But are you still doing
the ballparks?

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yes, We've got Oklahoma City coming up in about three
weeks with the Los Angeles Farm League. The Comets in
Oklahoma City. We got date more of the Kansas City
Royals and myself we got fired in twenty twenty two.
We're both doing better than what the Royals did.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
But anyway, we all know that's story. Yeah, Scott Dawson
Evangelistic Association has been key in so many people's lives
and spreading the gospel around our country and around the
world for that matter.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Thirty five years now, it's thirty seven, thirty seven years.
You know, if they heard the conversations we had off
the air, that would be just as entertaining and newsworthy.
Is what we talk about.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
On the air. Well, I got to tell you the
last conversation we had off the air was just a
minute ago, and that conversation was Scott, you think Jesus
had a sense of humor being human? Right?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Absolutely he did.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
And I asked you think that he and the disciples
sat around a fire one night and he looked at
Peter and said, pull my finger.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Come on now, I'm not going to go down that road.
But thirteen guys out on the road for three years,
I mean you got to have some fun times.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
I wanted to talk to just basically about this week
and Palm Sunday and we're coming up on obviously Easter
and Good Friday and Monday Thursday. Is was that the
last summer? Yeah? That's yeah. So where in jesus ministry?
And when you followed Jesus the ministry in the four Gospels,

(02:46):
you know, he's out and he's moving, and he's out
and he's moving, and he's showing miracles, he's showing people
who he is and why they need to change their lives.
And then the ministry turned into it's time to go.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Yeah, Jesus says he scripture says Jesus turned his face
towards Jerusalem, and that's when he stopped all public discourse.
He kind of focused in on his twelve disciples.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Relative to Palm Sunday, when.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Was that, I mean, I don't know this specific time, right,
There was a before that, there was a transitioning time,
and then Palm Sunday that we just celebrated yesterday is
when he arrives into Jerusalem on the donkey and people
are laying down palm branches, hence the Dame Palm Sunday
singing Hosannah, Hosannah, blesses who comes in the name of

(03:34):
the Lord. And the Pharisees and the Sadducees basically went, hey,
this can't happen. And you remember they told Jesus to stop,
tell your people to hush up. And that's where Jesus
says the famous raise. If they don't praise to me,
the rocks are going to cry out. So it is true,
if you and I stay silent, the angels will give
glory to the Lord. The rocks will give glory to

(03:55):
the Lord. But they've never experienced salvation. So I always say,
if the world's going to hear about Jesus. It's gonna
come from those who have received Christ. So that's Palm Sunday.
That's when you know, everybody's all the the private conversations
started having about arresting Jesus. When they're going to have it.
The devious Judas is Scariot working the deal out. Now

(04:18):
we're coming into Holy Week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday anticipation where
there's prayer involvement. You know, even the White House is
doing a big declaration on Holy Week.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Isn't that refreshing to see? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:33):
I mean to those of us who know Christ, we
go wow, finally getting recognized. Even though we Jesus doesn't
need it, it is so appreciated by those of us
who follow Jesus. So I want everyone to understand.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
And this event that they're doing at the White House
all this week, yep, may open doors for somebody to
come to Christ. It may have never gotten the opportunity
or at least been hit by the Holy Spirit to
say I get it now. Yep.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
It's planning seeds. To me, it's all about planning seats.
So then we get to Thursday. Thursday is the what
we call the Upper Room. That's where Jesus washes his
disciples feet, which to me is mind boggling for everyone
out there that you're kind of indifferent towards Jesus. Let
me ask you this. If you knew you had twenty

(05:18):
four hours to live, what would be the last act
of your life. A lot of people would say, Man,
I'm going to Vegas. I'm going to do this. Jesus
chose to wash his disciples feet, not only those he
loved them all, but the one who he knew was
going to betray him. For thirty shekels of silver, he
washed his feet. What a demonstration of love and unconditional love.

(05:42):
That's Thursday. He's arrested on Friday, tortured, buried on Friday,
resurrected on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
That's Holy Week. Just an incredible week, and it's such
an point. You think it's an emotional roller coaster with
the stock market. Now, the roller coaster ride that we
go through this week is just, you know, amazing to me,
good and bad. There are tough times during this week
that are still tough for me. We were talking about

(06:10):
Passion of the Christ, the movie that was so well done,
but it is so not only important, but so graphic
and so heavy. It pretty watched.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
He loves us so much, he'd rather die than to
live without us.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Right, And what he went through in that movie is
a fraction of what the reality of what Jesus went through.
You think he looked bad in the movie, it was
ten times worse.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Mel Gibson says the same thing when he.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Was making it.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
By the time he got to the Cross, sin is
serious and we have to deal with it because God
deals with sin very seriously.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
We left off at Palm Sunday as he's coming through,
and then we get up in this week. Monday Thursday
is the next big event, and that's where the Last
Supper took place. Talk about how that came to be
at the Last Supper and the significance of what that meant.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yeah, this was the time where he instituted the ordinance
of when he said earlier in John chapter six, you know,
if you're gonna be one of mine, you're gonna eat
of my flesh and drink of my blood. He wouldn't
be an accountable. He was foretelling the Lord's Supper that
he institute on Maudy Thursday when they're in the upper room,
and that's when he says this is this is my
body and this is my blood. What an incredible understanding

(07:27):
of the Eucharist, of being able to the ordinance of
the New Testament Church, of going those of us who
know Christ, we do this often in remembrance of what
He's done for us. That's the reason I love this week.
I love all the emphasis on it, but I live
on the resurrection every single day of my life. Yeah,
because if the Resurrection isn't happening, Oh, I mean, everybody

(07:50):
says he's a good man, he can't be just a
good man. If he was just a good man, he
was a liar because he said he was I am
the way, the truth of life. So he's he can't
be just a good man.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Yeah, I tell people, and when we get into conversations
about Jesus and non believers will have a not an
ugly conversation, but they'll have a conversation that's not committed,
and it'll be more like, well, yeah, Jesus, I'm familiar
with Jesus. Sure, I said, who is he? You know,
if I'm talking with somebody that wants to really talk
about it. And I love these conversations because it's very

(08:23):
simple John fourteen six. As you mentioned the Great I am.
When he says I am, then you either believe that
he is or he's not. And as you said, if
he's not, then he's lying to you. He's not a
good man.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
And if all he did was die for us, as
horrific as the cn crucive fxion really is displayed, then
a lot of good men have died, a lot of
good men have gone through torturous treatment and suffered immeasurable pain.
But because we know the story doesn't end with death,
that's where the hope comes alive. Is that three days

(08:58):
later the stone was rolled away. I ought to let
Jesus out. He was not crimped up inside that tomb,
going man, I hope you don't forget about me. The
stone was rolled away so that we can go in
and find that he who went in is no longer in.
He's out, He's alive, And because of the resurrection, we
can have life. That's the promise and the hope we
have of eternity.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
I get really emotional when I dig into Good Friday,
and when I watched the Passion and seen it a
number of times, and I just and even Jesus being
man as well as God. Says to the Lord, says
to his father, if you can take this away from me,
I mean. He breaks down and says, please take it

(09:39):
away from me. Knowing that wasn't going to happen.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Paul says, God made him who knew no sin, to
be sin for us, that we might be made the
righteousness of God through Jesus Christ. There had to be
a payment for sin. Everyone listening, everyone on the face
of the planet. We know we've all done something wrong.
The Bible's true for all I have. We know there's
nothing we can do about it. For the wages of
sin is death. Every one of us is going to

(10:05):
walk through death's door. But the good news is God
loves us, and he participated in it. In Romans five eighty, says,
he demonstrates his own love towards us. And now why
we were at Sintris. Christ died for us. And the
greatest news anyone could ever hear today is that Jesus
can change your life right there where you are. It's
not by running down the nile. It's not by watching
a preacher on TV. It's simply saying, Jesus coming to

(10:28):
my life forgiving me my sin, prove yourself to me,
help me to love you because I know you love me.
And when that happens, life has changed forever.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Yeah. I learned a long time ago that you're not
going to argue anybody to the cross. Now. You can
lead them to it, but you cannot make them hug
the cross. And I usually wrap up my conversations with
people that say, eh, I don't know you know, I said, look,
that's fine. I mean, if that's your choice, that's your choice.
But I got to tell you, if you ever get

(10:57):
in a moment we are sick of being sick and tired,
or you're just waking up going you know that conversation,
what about that just hit your knees and from your heart,
not just because it's lip service, but from your heart, say, God,
if you're real, show me look out. And I've had
so many people come back and say that, just that

(11:17):
one moment that I was in doubt, and I said, Okay,
I'm willing to give this a try. Honestly, I from
my heart, God, if you are real, will you please
show me what this is all about and what this
Jesus guy is all about? And I'm telling you, if
it's from your heart, it's coming. I lived it. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Again, the proof of the resurrection. If anyone's out there
just interested, start studying the resurrection, because you'll find there's
so much evidence of it. Why would the disciples life
be changed forever? You may live for a lie. You
wouldn't die for a lie. If you knew it was
a lie, you wouldn't die for it. All of them
gave their lives. Second, they wouldn't take his body away.

(11:59):
I would have taken the away a long way and
come back and go, oh look, he's a resurrect happened
right there in the city. Then you see the transformation
that took place. I'm telling you, if someone's out there
listening right now and you're just on the line, he
loves you. He has a plan for you, and he's
own record how much he loves you. He'd rather dive
in to live without you. And that's what happened during

(12:21):
Holy Week.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
And as bad as Good Friday as there was Sunday's coming, unbelievable.
What Sunday is all about? Amen? All right?

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Good to see him, brother, always good to be with.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
JT. Scott Dawson, seven twenty nine, Alabama's morning news, have
