Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now our Senator Katie Britt joins us. Now Top of
the morning. To you, Katie, Happy Thursday, welcome in.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Thank you. I appreciate it, glad to be on.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
So I had a lot of people call me the
other day. All right, so Turberville has come out and
said he's voting for Rick Scott. And you know, we
saw this leaked thing in this list of Katie's voting
for corn and know what's going on? And I'm like,
whoa easy, fellas, do we really know that she's voting
in that direction? And it gets out there, you know,
Katie needs to represent the state of Alabama. And I'm like,
all right, well, we don't know. And then I talked

(00:28):
to a buddy, Ryan Schmells with Fox and DC, and
he says, j T, you can't believe everything you see
on social media. That's a that's a debunked list that's
not even out in you know, it's not real. It's
not real. So I got to ask you, for my listeners,
who'd you vote for?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, well that is a debunked list, and there are
multiple lists that are inaccurate. Look, coaching, I have different
approaches on this. Coach came out last time really strong
for Mitch McConnell. You know, he said, that's who I'm
voting for. He made that case and kind of came
out beforehand, you know. So I told all of my colleagues,
and this time obviously was my first time to really

(01:05):
be a part of it, where these are my colleagues,
that I would listen to them. I felt like that's
the due diligence that I needed to do for the
American people, for the people of Alabama, and so over
the two weeks, obviously the months leading up to it,
watching listening to what they're saying, my biggest thing was
I wanted to change. I wanted to know how they
would be different than the current leadership, and for me,

(01:28):
ultimately that came down to Rick Scott and moving though
into the vote, I met with each candidate two times.
There was also some rumor out there that I hadn't
even met with with the rig Scott, which was funny
because I had just gotten off the phone with him
yet again. And so met with each candidate two times.
I had a list of questions. I wanted to know

(01:49):
how the Senate could operate better, what they were going
to do to advance the Trump agenda, how they were
going to empower individual senators and not be a super
senator like we see with Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell,
and then we have ninety eight baby senators. So so
wanted to like see who was ready for real change
and not just abstract conversation. But I wanted, what is

(02:11):
your plan? How are you going to make this work?
How are we going to get Trump's cabinet picks in line?
How are we going to pass funding bills on time?
You know that that is my big thing when it
comes to appropriations, actually passing those, not having omnibuses. And
so had really good conversations with each and every candidate,

(02:31):
really flesh that out. Mike Lee, who I have a
tremendous amount of respect for and is the conservative stalwart
of the United States Senate as many people know, ask
all of us to participate in what was a candidate
forum on that Tuesday night when we returned to d
C before the vote yesterday. So went to that and
and you know, told each of the candidates that I

(02:52):
would I would not I would, you know, come and
listen to their quote unquote closing argument before making that decision.
And I did that, and there was no doubt that,
you know, when we look at needing change and we
look at making sure that America's voices are heard, that
Rick was ready to just turn the apple cart upside

(03:14):
down and really move things in a different direction. And
so I called Rick, let him know that I would
be voting for him, and then also was really excited
to actually there was one other contested race which probably
had not been had not been talked about quite enough,

(03:34):
between Tom Cotton and Joni Ernst. And in that, you know,
what you see on that is two of my dear friends,
two people that I have a tremendous amount of respect for,
and two people who would do an excellent job. And interestingly,
you know, I was asked very early on to give
Tom's speech. So each of the nominating individuals get someone

(03:59):
to give a nominating speech. Marco Rubio actually gave Rick
Scott's opening nominating speech, and you will love this. He
talked about he brought in the Crimson Tide. He said, look,
it's like, you know, we got three good candidates. It's
like the Crimson Tide when they had three three quarterbacks
on one team that ended up playing first round first,

(04:21):
I mean ended up playing first string at three different
NFL teams, and he named he named Jalen Hurts to
a tongue of Aloa, and he named back Joan. So
you can imagine how excited I was at the Crimson
tide right off the bat got brought into leadership elections.
But very similar to that, I was giving Tom Cotton's speech,
and so gave Tom's speech his nominating speech. Tom ended

(04:44):
up winning thirty five to eighteen. But it was a
really it was a good day. I think, you know,
we worked through a lot of issues. Obviously, I was disappointed,
you know, I was hopeful that Rick would have more
momentum going into that, but I was very excited that
soon and President Trump talked immediately thereafter committing to moving

(05:06):
that agenda forward. And I think this is a great
moment for your listeners. I mean, if you think about
the list that was leaked, it actually had Soon voting
for Cornan on that list. So to your friend's point,
I think it's really important that people don't kind of
grab on to some of those things until they're confirmed
or until you hear from the people. Because there were

(05:27):
a lot of inaccuracies in that and I think they anyway,
I think ultimately people saw the truth.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yeah, I'm glad you voted for Rick, and I think
our listeners are glad you voted for him, and I agree.
You know, there's some reasons that the Senate folks voted
to Thun and we can talk about that later. And
you know the option, you know, was between him and
John Cornyn ultimately because Rick did make the first vote.
But we'll talk about Thoon down the road. But I
wanted to get your thoughts on Marco Rubio now is

(05:54):
going to be Trump's Secretary of State and he vacates
that Senate seat there, and you've been pretty adam and
about who you'd like to see. Feel that Laura Trump,
how's that going?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Oh my goodness, I am so excited about the possibility.
And I hey, this is the next thing. We need
all of your listeners letting Governor Desantas know what an
excellent choice, tremendous choice Laura Trump would be. You think
about the job that she did at the RNC, creating

(06:25):
a big tent for us to ensure that voices were
heard from all across the country and all walks of
life in the Republican Party. I mean, she helped usher
in the biggest landslide that I have seen in my lifetime.
She made sure that we secured the vote. In addition
to getting the vote out, she made sure that we
secured it. And you think about how important that is

(06:47):
and how much time and energy she had to put
into that. Additionally, she is a mom of school age kids,
and I always say this, we need more of those
voices at the table. I was proud to be the
very first one out of the gate saying we need
Laura Trump that is gaining momentum. Last night we saw

(07:08):
her go on Sean Hannity. I was texting her right beforehand.
I was like, come on, Laura, I can't wait to
see what you say. Sean actually asked her, would you
take the appointment? She said yes, I would. I immediately
immediately sent her a text telling her how excited that
I was that she would. She would be willing to
do this, be willing to serve our country, as you

(07:29):
well know, with school age kids, and you hear me
getting my kids to school doing those things, you know
it is you give up a lot of that time,
that precious time, and for her willingness to serve our country.
I know she knows she would be doing it for
the betterment of them, But goodness gracious, wouldn't that be incredible?
That would we got her in the United States Senate?

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Sure would. I mean we got the trifecta, the White House,
the Senate. Now we control the House. It's got to
feel like Christmas morning up there in DC for all
the Republicans.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Absolutely, the energy is amazing. I am actually going to
head in and just a minute into the Senate to
speak to the freshman class excited about that. It's it's
kind of neat to not be the new kid, or
almost not be the new kid anymore and kind of
give give them some pointers. But it has been electric.

(08:21):
The difference in the room yesterday versus the room last
two years ago was just wildly It's wildly different. So
what we do just kind of give your in, your
your listeners and inside, look, we go into the old
Senate chamber to make those votes. So you're literally sitting

(08:42):
there where you know, you know, some of our nation's
greatest leaders made speeches and and you know where they
were the night before. Uh, things like the civil We're
all of these things, and you're in that room, so
it brings an elevation to what you're doing and aiousness
to it that I think, you know, instead of just

(09:02):
being in another room in the Capitol, you're in that
place with such rich history, and you understand the weight
that is on your shoulders. And and you know, as
as John Cornyn said yesterday, we can't wait. The cavalry
is not coming. We are the cavalry. And and and
that that feeling was palpable. But the difference to is
being in the majority. I mean, you know, last two

(09:25):
years ago, we were devastated that we lost several seats
that we thought we could have one and should have one.
And here very differently, people are excited, People are ready
to get to work. The energy is just through the roof.
People understand what the American people want, and I think
everyone is ready to work diligently to get Trump's agenda

(09:46):
moving forward to actually make a difference, and look look
to we only have. You know, we only have two
years to do this, and it's that's why we've got
to get started. We got to get started. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
And another reference of football, you know, the Crimson Tide
won another national Championship with a Republicans getting the trifect
in this so yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I
can't wait. It's making so much common sense all of
the selections and the work you're doing too, Katie. Thank
you again for being on and clearing the air on
the Rick Scott thing. I mean, so many people are

(10:18):
like Katie, better vote for him and we'll have you
back soon. Thanks for the work you're doing, Katie.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Thank you.
