2 dead, 6 injured in shooting at Florida State

Seven forty five, Friday morning, April eighteenth. I want to
get a quick update on the one of the top
stories this morning, that is the shooting at Florida State
University yesterday just before noon on the Legacy Retirement Group
dot com phone line. ABC's Josh Margolis joining me. Josh,
thanks for the time this morning. So we've got two dead,
six injured. The shooter has been taken to the hospital

with us non life threatening injury. A guy named Phoenix Eichner,
twenty years old. What do we know about him? What's
the latest?

Speaker 2 (00:30):
A picture, A pretty detailed picture of Phoenix Aickner is developing.
First of all, we know, most importantly that he is
the step son of a career sheriff's deputy, and it
was allegedly, according to police, one of the step mother's
former service weapons, her gun that was used in the crime.
At least was one of the guns used in the crime.

So that really is something that they're going to be
looking into. We also know that Phoenix Aigner has something
of a troubled history, not not necessarily with law enforcement,
but has a history of mental challenges. Was apparently medicated,
according to court records. Was the subject of a bitterer
and protracted custody dispute between his biological parents, was at

one point taken from Florida to the biological mother's native
home in Norway, then sent back. Really, it's a troubling
situation and an analysts and investigators are going to really
look at his personal history because in almost every one
of these mass shooting cases, we see that there is

some sort of background or a triggering or a series
of grievances that lead to somebody acting out
