Speaker 1 (00:00):
Congressman Jim Jordan joining us.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Now.
Speaker 1 (00:02):
Happy New Year, sir, How are you.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
I'm fine, Mark, A happy New Year to you. So
and you didn't say hi to me? What you were
here in town? Right? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:11):
I was there, And and Troy, that's the thing, Congressman
Balderson told me he was by you, and he had
talked to you about.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
We saw you over the corner of the of the
gallery up there, and he said, there's plays. We were
pointing up to you, but you were busy doing your job.
I'm sure.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Well I was. I was, first of all, first time
I've ever been in the House chambers, and I was
beside myself. Jim. It was like, I just I you know,
I know it's a normal view for like you and
a lot of the people that are in there on
the floor, but and I'm not discounting that you realize
how special of a place that is and all of that.
(00:49):
But man, I was in there, like you know, I
was the tourist on the streets of New York City
staring up at the skyscrapers.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
You know.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
I was like, oh my gosh, I couldn't believe it.
But yeah, Troy told me later that you guys were waving,
And now I feel like an idiot because I didn't
even know.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
I understand, I understand it's a It's an amazing capital
for an amazing country, the best country ever. And you
probably experienced it. So this is your first time, because
I remember my first time. You walked the stairs and
you can feel where the marbles is born, and you
you know, you just goes through your mind who all
walked these these steps? You know, important people in our
country's history. And so yeah, if it doesn't give you
(01:27):
that kind of healing, then then maybe there's a problem.
So no, I know exactly what you're talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Yeah, it was incredible. Then afterwards we go and we're
taking the one elevator where only the members can take,
and we were going down to uh We ended up
in Longworth the cafeteria there to go get a bite
to eat. And I know Troy told me he had
invited you, but you had like six million things going
He's like, you, Jim can't join us or whatever, or
he had talked to you about something, maybe Dan, but
(01:52):
he said you had so much going on. So we're
waiting at that elevator and Stenny was there and Sidney
Hoy And so while we're standing there has taken a
long time, and Steny says to Troy, can we let
the can we let the speaker on? Please? Well Troy
is thinking immediately, oh, Johnson's behind us like or whatever.
He turns around and it's Pelosi standing there with her walker.
(02:16):
And so I even told him, I go, you know,
I've been in this capital with you twice, Troy. Both times.
Pelosi when she was speaker before a couple of years ago,
literally walked right in, like close enough where I could
have just pushed her over, like right there. And then
she's standing behind us waiting to get on the elevator,
and Troy led her through and I told him, I said, man,
(02:38):
you should have been like, no, you guys lost back
of the bus for you.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Now, you guys, I know that was the right move.
Of course, Oh I.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Know, I know.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
But I'm glad you had a good time. And next
time you come down we'll have together. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
It was. It was incredible, an incredible thing to witness,
so patriotic, To watch Kamala have toify President Trump as
the winner Kloba jar part of that, to watch her
have to read I'm telling you, Jim, it was like
Christmas for me all over again to watch and witness
all of those things, and it was something else, just
(03:14):
a whole It was a spectacle to behold in a
good way.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
You know.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
So, yeah, great, and it's great. And this is the
first time this century where the Democrats didn't object to
a Republican who was elected president, because you know, they
objected on January sixth, two thousand and five, they objected
our state back then, and then of course they objected
on January sixth, twenty and seventeen. One Democrat even objected
(03:37):
to the state of Alabama, you know state President Trump
won like ninety one. You know, it was like, well,
it wasn't quite that strong, but so it was. It
was good to see them not not do the ridiculous
objections and because of course they criticized us for raising
legitimate objections four years ago. But President Trump won in
(03:57):
such a strong fashion, I need to just was the
reason you saw, but the way it unfolded on on Monday, Hey,
what is it?
Speaker 1 (04:05):
What are your thoughts on Zuckerberg and the whole thing,
the whole thing happening now, you know, and look my
take on that obviously, is Uh, don't anybody fall for this.
Guy's like, oh, this is what I really want to do.
He knows that this is a direction he basically has
to do unless he wants to get you know, shut
all the way out. I feel like moving forward. And
(04:26):
I'm using generalities here, but go ahead.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Yeah, but I mean, think of the change. So four
years ago the Facebook, they saw President Trump off of
off the platform, as do all the others. Then you
have President Trump, you know, all the all the political act.
You know that lawsuits, neverything coming against him, all based
on politics, not based on back all this unfold. And
of course then you have Elon Musk by Twitter. So
(04:49):
uh and and and frankly the about change because remember
it was just a few months ago when Mark Zuckerberg
sent me a letter and he said, the Biden administration
pressured us to censor. We did it. I'm sorry, and
we won't do it anymore. And then to follow that
up with this, I take this as positive. And you're right,
it may just be because you know the politics have changed,
(05:10):
but this is a The number one change they made
is they said we're no longer going to have these
quote independent fact checkers. We're now going to let the
First Amendment be the first Amendment. Remember it was something
famous justice from the Supreme Court said, the best way
to deal with with bad speech, wrong speech, hate speech, whatever,
is more speech. And that's exactly the format Twitter has
(05:32):
X has in there what's called their community notes application,
that is that's exactly what Facebook went too. So this
is this is a win for free speech, a win
for the First Amendment. And again maybe it's driven all
by politics, but it's still I think really important.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Yeah, well let's stick though. Is the question, you know,
like in other words, in four more years, if we
don't have another conservative elected, you know, then does it
go back? Because I just feel like if uh, you know,
this current administration, if Konalla would have been elected, this
wouldn't be happening obviously, you.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Know, well but understood, but again understand what took place
in the last four years. I hope it's lasting because
we we'ven't had the First Amendment. We've had you know,
free speech, and it's scary. But who would have thought,
you know, we talked about this back during the campaign.
Who would have thought you'd see Donald Trump, Elon Musk,
RFK Junior and Tawlsey Gabbert on the same team. And
they're on the same team because they care about the
(06:27):
First Amendment. And you know our k Junior and Falsey
were Democrats, but they've come. They've come to the Republican
Party because we're the party protecting Americans liberties, protecting their
free speech right.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Hey, Congress, and we've got twelve days now, are there
is Is there some caucussing going on, some closed door
meetings going on as a game plan being put together.
Day one off the launch pad. Let's get this craps started.
Are those meetings happening right now or are we just
waiting for for the swearing in?
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Well, I think it's all You're already seeing it to happen.
You saw this bill we passed yesterday, bill we had
passed in the last Congress that didn't go anywhere, but
yesterday and more Democrats supported it, the Lake and Riley Act.
I remember Lake and Riley was the young lady who
was killed in Georgia by the illegal migrant. And this
bill says people migrants like that who come in and
(07:12):
have a criminal history, you can't release them into the
country like my orcs and the Biden administration did, so
we got more Democrats forty I think forty eight Democrats,
several more than we had vote for it in the
last Congress. I think that's a reflection of what happened
on election day, and Leader Thoune thinks there's a chance
they can get this through the Senate. So we're already
(07:32):
starting to do the things we told the voters we
were going to do and they elected us to do.
Of course, the big thing will be reconciliation, which is
I always say this fancy word we use for being
able to get around and get past the sixty vote
hurdle and pass things in the Senate. In the Senate
was just a simple majority. So we're working on that,
putting that bill together, and we're going to get moving
(07:53):
on that as quickly as we can.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
And lastly, Congressman, daylight saving time looks like that might
actually finally have been where we just set the clocks
and leave them.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yeah, and that I don't please don't like. I like
what is it? I like the long I like the
summer nights where it's you know, it's nine o'clock at
night in Ohio and you can still be outside. Yeah,
a little sunshine in June and early July, so we'll see.
I understand the simplicity of it all, but we'll see.
(08:24):
I know some people are for summer against I.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Mean your bathroom and set the scale back twenty pounds.
Get on it tomorrow and you've lost weight. That's the
same thing we're doing with daylight saving time. You're no lighter,
you're the same weight you were, but you deceived yourself.
And that's what we do with these clocks. Man. Time
is time, the sun is there. We rotate as we rotate.
We're just faking ourselves out. Start your work day an
(08:46):
hour later if you want to.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Go, well, well said yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Congressman Jim Jordan, Happy New Year, Thanks for calling
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Brou to see Yeah.
