Speaker 2 (01:18):
Well, it is certainly good to be with you here
in the month of November. The Dogs are playoff bound
and playoffs are here in seven eighty for the first
time in school history, as it has been a while
since the Dogs have been playing some postseason football and
exciting times here inside Bulldogs Stadium tonight as Opelika comes
in eight and two five and two in Region Play
seven A Region two number two see they welcome in
(01:41):
the five and five Florence Falcons, first ever meeting between
these two teams. Florence comes in the number three seed
from Region four where they finished five and two. The
Falcons did finish off their home season. They were in
action last week, a tough loss on Senior Night at
home to a very good six eighteen in Oxford thirty
four to ten the final school score there. Falcons two
(02:02):
and three on their home turf this season, three and
two on the road, but the Falcons have won five
straight road games this season. They finished with region wins
over Albertville. Bob Jones, Grissom, Huntsville and Spartman. Opelika is
coming off a loss to Carver Montgomery that was two
weeks ago, seems like it was a month ago. Bulldogs
lost to Carver snapped in six game winning streak, but
(02:24):
Bulldogs were steam rolling in after big win over Central
Phoenix City, but after getting up twenty eight to six,
found themselves falling in the second half forty four to
thirty five to Carver and Opelika might have lost the game,
but big Man Blake Johnson was a big machine in
that game. He rushed for seventy eight yards three touchdowns
on only ten carries and also picked up sixty six
(02:44):
receiving yards. Opelika's defense also picked off a couple passes
in that game. Vince Swink and Kiev and King defense
has been getting turnovers all season long, and Dogs will
hope they can continue tonight. Winner of this game tonight,
we'll face the number one seed from Region three over
High School next week November fifteen, and we're certainly hoping
it'll be the Opahalaika Bulldogs when we come back. We'll
(03:06):
continue with our pregame show presented by Frederick Dean funeral
home with a pregame visit with head coach Brian Moore.
That's coming up on the way.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Next here on the Kicker, Now, it's time for a
pregame visit with Opa Lakah head football coach Brian Moore,
presented by South State Bank. Now with coach, Here's Van Riggs.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Home playoff game tonight here in Bulldog Stadium as the
Dogs get ready to take on with Florence Falcons, and
visit with coach Brian Moore. Now and Coach, I know
it's been a while since we gotten back out here
and played the football game. Almost seems like a month,
but I know it's just been a couple of weeks
since that tough one on the road against Carver. How's
your team bounced back? How they handled the time off?
Speaker 5 (03:41):
Well, we've seen it as you know, an opportunity to
really identify what those deficiencies are, and you know, you
hate to do that losing a ball game. You hope
you can win and still continue to work through those things.
But you know, we had a lot of fix and
I think the bye week came at a perfect time.
You know, our kids were really fatigued. You know, I
felt like you know, early in that ball game, we
were hot and jumped out to an early league, but
(04:03):
it was really tough to.
Speaker 6 (04:05):
Hold up for four quarters. And obviously we've got to
do a better job.
Speaker 5 (04:09):
But I think that it opened some doors as far
as again being you know, critical about the way that
we played and the things that we need to do better.
Both you know, starts with me the way that I
managed the team and doing a better job of getting
us ready to play.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
But excited to be in the playoffs and excited about.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
A great bye week that really got us healthy and
we feel fresh going into this ball game.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Yeah, you mentioned the health of your team. I know
they're really banged up coming out of Montgomery. How are
they coming into this first game tonight, first round playoff
game tonight.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Everyone should play, you know, And we hadn't said that
in a long time. And you're right that game and
and Montgomery was really really physical, and you know, we
we had six or seven guys at a point in
the game that we're out, and so I thought it
really bothered us. But excited to have those guys back,
specifically Calvin, you know, we miss him. And really the
first time they went and had him in a full
ball game. So excited to have him back, and he's
(04:58):
had a great week along with several guys. But again,
the biggest thing is just the rejuvenation of our guys,
you know, having some time off and.
Speaker 6 (05:05):
Doing some off the field things.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
I think it, you know, connected our team again, because truthfully,
I thought we were a little disconnected in the fourth
of that ball game, and that was the first time
this year we've had that happen. And so I think
we've learned from it and we'll grow from it, and
I'm excited to see us play tonight.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Well, you think it's gonna be the key to the offense, coach,
I know that's one thing that struggled for you a
little bit of times in that second half, kind of
getting back on track because you're gonna need them, you know,
to make a run to Birmingham.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
Well, just consistency. I mean, like there's been spurts.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
I mean, to score thirty five points, you know, that's
I mean against a pretty good defensive football team was good,
but it's not consistent enough. You know, there were four
possessions in a row that we scored touchdowns on to
where we really had control of the ball game, but
didn't finish that, and so that's our challenge. It's really
not van the second half drive opener. It's really the
drive too and drive three. We've actually scored on eight
(05:52):
of ten drives coming out of halftime and so we've
been pleased with that. But it's about that lull that
we continue to have that we're hunting. That really is
the nail and the Coffin drive. You know, you think
about the enterprise game, you think about the central game.
Can we put those games away a little bit earlier
and not make our defense come out and put the
fire out? And so that's been a challenge through the
bye week and through this week to continue to be
(06:15):
consistent and dominate for four quarters.
Speaker 6 (06:17):
Because again there have been spurts of really good football.
We just got to do it more consistently.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
I know, you've really leaned on the defense very well.
That was kind of one of those games where it
was kind of, I guess, an anomaly a little bit,
you know, how they played the rest of the season.
Speaker 6 (06:29):
Yeah, I mean, I you know, really just it's hard
to believe.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
You know, now six of the points came you know,
with a turnover on offense, but you know, we just
haven't given up big plays in a long time. Really,
the two losses have been defined by big plays. I mean,
the two passes against Auburn, the three or four against
Carver have made the difference, you know, in those games.
And you know, really for eight of ten ball games,
the ball has not been thrown over our head at all.
Speaker 6 (06:53):
And so you know, we were in position against Carver.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
There's some really good players, but we've got to go
back and make sure that we stand man. The level
of the speed and the athleticism of the people were
getting ready to play is like Carver, and so we're
gonna have to be better on the back. We're going
to be better closed off the middle of field, not
getting that post fall thrown in between the hashes.
Speaker 6 (07:13):
And you know, coach Smith and coach Dawkins and.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
Coach Murray have gone back to work on that, and
I think we've had a great two weeks of prep
to be able to make sure that those big plays
don't happen.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
This is when Coach Brian Moore will continue as we
get ready for Round one of the playoffs. Tonight here
inside Bulldog Stadium, we'll preview the Florence Falcons. We come
back right here on the kicker back here Bulldog Stadium
as we get ready for round one action tonight as
the Opahaka Bulldogs take on the Florence Falcons. First ever
(07:43):
meeting between Florence and school history and coach, I know,
it's an exciting time tonight. This is the first ever
seven A playoff game for Oplaika here in the third
year and seven A, and it's a home playoff game.
Just talk about what an outstanding accomplishment that is for
not only your team, but you and your first season
as coaching to be able to secure up a home
playoff game in one of the toughest regions, if not
(08:03):
the toughest region in the state.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
I think it's the toughest region for sure. But you know,
this has a lot to do with our kids.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
I mean, this is all about their sacrifice and buy
in and what they were willing to do, you know,
the trust and the connection that they have with me
and our coaches, and you know in our community, and
the belief in our kids because this has always been
a talented group, specifically the seniors. But just getting over
that hump, you know, they've had opportunities the last two
years to get here, and just couldn't finish that big game,
(08:31):
you know, couldn't win the one that they needed to win.
And just excited for them and thankful for the support
that we've gotten all year.
Speaker 6 (08:39):
This is a big deal.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
I mean, you know, we talked a lot about leaving
a legacy here, and that's what all these teams. You know,
in a in a town like Opelika, you know, one
of the things that you're asked is, you know, what
did you do while you were a player? You know,
how how did your senior year end, what was your record?
How deep do you go in the playoffs? That's those
are the questions that are asked. And I told those kids,
you know, you know, this is a legacy thing for
us and one that we're really proud of. But again,
(09:01):
this is not the finished product. When we set our
goals at the beginning of the year, it was never
to make the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (09:06):
We that was what we expected.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
You know, that wasn't really a goal, you know for
us is to play in the last one. But we
understand that this step by step, and you know, our
kids are excited about playing in Bulldog Stadium We've played
really well at home so far, and encouraged by that
and excited to have another opportunity to play at home.
Speaker 6 (09:23):
I told them on senior night, I said, look, man,
this is just a halfway point.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
You know, when we were playing Central, I said, this
is not the end, this is not goodbye to this stadium,
and I'm thankful to be back home tonight.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
All right, talk about Florence, coach, I know the three
seed from Region four up in North Alabama. Oftentimes this
North Alabama team, you know, the North Alabama teams or
you know, not your best seven A schools typically when
it comes to the playoffs. But I know you've got
to win this one to get to the next one.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
Yeah, I mean, you know it's still a seven A
playoff team, you know, with really good players to have
a corner going to the Alby Mississippi game. That's the
UNA commit. They've got a great kicker, this by far
the best we've seen this year. That pretty much is
gonna You're gonna start at the twin and he's gonna
kick the ball at the back of the end zone.
Speaker 6 (10:01):
He's made field goals from fifty plus.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
They've got a big quarterback, sixty four, two hundred pounds
that can make plays in the game. They've got a
wildcat corner that comes over and plays running back for them,
that does a great job, that's very electric, has a
returned four punts for touchdowns this year, and they've got
a really good running back. And so look, you know
this is again I know coach Morrison. He does a
great job.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
He's a bet.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
He's been around the Decatur program for a long time,
was in Tennessee and then now back in Alabama and
has done a great job of leading this program.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
And in his third year, and he's he's.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
Got a small senior class, but a high quality senior class.
Got to see him in person.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
This is a good.
Speaker 6 (10:36):
Football team, and we'll have to play really well.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
We're thankful again to be able to be at home
and they had a really long trip to get here.
But again excited for our kids because the playoffs are
different and the way you go about your business needs
to be a little bit different. And hopefully, you know,
our guys will be locked in and focused and I
fully expect them to play well.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Coach appreciate the visit, always enjoy playing November football and
looking forward to keep it rolling into December. Thanks for
goin to Go Dogs head coach Brian More. We come
back more from Bulldog Stadiums. We're ready for Round one
action against the Florence Falcons. You're listening to Bulldog Football

Spence mccrackens keys to tonight's game.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
You are listening to Opelikah High School Football here on
ninety seven.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Point seven Kicker FM.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
And now it's time for Coach Spence mccrackens Keys to
the Game, presented by Glenn Smith, Chevrolet GMC and Opelikat
and get ready to smile.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Now we'll do something a little different here now than
the playoffs are upon us. Been a while since the
Dogs have been in the playoffs, So tonight, Coach mccrackens
keys to the Game are going to be keys to
the playoffs and keys to continuing to advance Salt in
the playoffs as we try to march towards Birmingham coach.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
Thank you, Van.
Speaker 7 (12:45):
And I've been an old veteran in these playoffs and
I know about winning and losing in the whole deal.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
So let me kick. I've got eight things to share
with you real quickly.
Speaker 7 (12:56):
And thing you want to think about this before every
playoff game, one play, one play at a time, were
gonna You know, we've talked about how many plays in
a game. You end up really playing about three and
a half minutes when you think about the five seconds
that each play takes. One play at a time. Don't
(13:16):
get ahead of yourself. One game at a time. Don't
sit here and say, oh, we're looking forward to playing
next week. We're gonna go to the restaurant up in
Birmingham or whatever. We're not gonna play at home. Hey,
you play this game tonight against Florence. One game at
a time. All these players know this. Number three, You
(13:38):
win or go home. If you don't win in these playoffs,
your season's finished. So you play as hard as you
can play.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Number four. Never underestimate your opponent.
Speaker 7 (13:51):
I remember, as an old coach playing a couple of
teams that we thought we'd run all over, and they
beat us and knocked us out of the playoffs. It
was all my fault because I didn't have them ready
to play our opponent. Never underestimate your opponent. Number five,
and listen real closer to this one, folks, you gotta
(14:14):
have a little luck to win a state championship.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Got to have a little luck.
Speaker 7 (14:19):
You know, you know, you doing not a whole lot,
but you gotta have some things go right for you,
and hopefully that'll be for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
Number six.
Speaker 7 (14:30):
You must play all four quarters on all three phases
of the game, kicking, offense, and defense. If you can
win two of those three, you got about an eighty
percent chance of winning the game. So you got to
play all quarters and win all two of three phases
at least. Number seven. Do the right thing on time
(14:52):
the best you can, and do it that way all
the time. What I'm talking about is a football player
doing the right thing on the field, doing it on time,
not being late for assignments, doing it the best you
can do it all the time, now, no loafing on
any place, and do it that way all the time.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
And then that.
Speaker 7 (15:13):
Includes turnovers, which we've always talked about, stopping the run, penalties,
running the ball, doing the right things. And number eight
and this is the most important one. It is amazing
how much you can get done when no one cares
who gets the credit. That's humility, that's being a team,
(15:35):
everybody pulling for each other. So let's go out and
beat this Florence team tonight. Play as hard as we
can and go dogs.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
All right, we come back your coin toss that is
keys to the gamers anybody and Glensmiths, Chevy GMC and
ople Iking. We're back after this time out with a
coin toss. Here on the kicker, just about ready for
our coin toss. And it is brought to you by
the fine folks a RENTLDS Outdoors. Rentlds Outdoors locally on hunting, fishing,
(16:07):
archery and outdoor store to take care of all your
outdoor sporting needs. Rentals Outdoors off Geneva Street in Opal
Like at Captains for the Bulldogs Tonight, Vember eighty four.
Brandon Massy, number seven, Tyler Moore, number seventy five, Darius
Whitlow and number ninety three Josh Davis and good to
see Brandon Massey getting to be a captain tonight. Coach McCracken,
he's suffered an ACL injury before the season, has been
(16:30):
unable to go all season long. But he gets to
come out here and the what probably will be or
could be the final home game inside Bulldog Stadium tonight.
Speaker 7 (16:40):
That's uh yeah, that's a tribute to mister Massey and
what he's had to go through. And heck, you never know,
you think he might be able to get in before
the season's over.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
I know he has done. Yeah, he will not be
returning this season. He's going to be getting ready for
tracking field season and he's he's a good one there.
Let's head down for the coin toss as both teams
exchange handshakes in the middle of the field and the
center opalalaikah logo, y'all.
Speaker 8 (17:11):
Take about a half step back. Let me get in
here and go over a few things with you. I'm
mister Poem, the referee, mister Smith, he's the umpire. We're
heading up the officiating team tonight, just like you're heading
up your teams as captains. Joe Arnerbys selected this captain,
but it comes a lot of responsibilities, calls for team leadership.
Best way to do that's by example. That means no
finger pointing, no cussing, no tawning, and no late hits.
And don't get me wrong, we don't want you to
(17:32):
play easy. We know what's at stake, but we want
you to play with everything that you've got. We want
but you want you to play under control. Help keep
your teammates under control, and play in a manner that
best represents your schools, your families, and your communities have
been said. I'm gonna show you both. The coin that's
tails under the super seven heads heads under age is
double a tails under super seven. You get to call
(17:52):
it and as you do it. Now, if you will tail,
you want tails, I'm gonna flip it. If I drop it,
we're gonna flip it again. So it's heads. You want
to toss, You want to defer red one, they will defern,
all right.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
So Opelika wins the TOSSI defer to the second half.
Half captains for the Falcons Jamerian reader a Madrix Tinsley,
also Logan White and Chandler Dixon. So we'll see the
Opalika Bulldogs get the football in the second half and
the Florence Falcons. We'll get things started on offense first. Well,
we come back just about ready for the first seven
(18:28):
day playoff game in Opalaikah history tonight, and it's here
in the friendly confines of Bulldog Stadium. We're back after
this time out. But first let's past ten seconds for
station identification, all timer, game conditions and game conditions brought
to you by First Baptist Church, Opelaika. Right now seventy
(18:48):
one kickoff temperature and should be pretty much around the
seventy mark throughout this game. Let's head down for a
four seasons Federal Credit Union shine Line report. Mister Mac McCracken, Mac,
what was the feel of the locker room?
Speaker 9 (19:00):
Just told the boys, He said, hey, look, if you
want to advance, it's all up to you, guys.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
He goes, there's a choice, you know, you have a
choice to continue on and let's go out.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
There and do it.
Speaker 9 (19:09):
Hey, great night for football, great crowd here for Opelhaika.
It's been fifteen days since the last game, so they're
looking they're looking forward to it.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
Boys, Let's go.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
All right, Thanks so much, Mike McCracken with our first
four seasons Federal Credit Union signline reporters. We come to
you from the Orthopedic Clinic Broadcast booth here at the
friendly Con finds a bulldog stadium and uh it is
teed up by Rhys Beasley and he puts total leather
and puts a good end over end kick which Fitch
sale into the end zone and it will be a
touchback as it was fielded there in the end zone
(19:41):
by Jay Shine Pearson.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
That's good when you can knock one in the end
zone like that. Pearson Race has been doing a good
job with that the last couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
Right here, Pierson, the guy that caught that ball, is
going to play cornerback. He'll also come over and play
a wildcat quarterback at sometimes throughout the game, so kind
of got him bubbled in a wildcat quarterback here. So
we'll see kay Davis. We'll start at quarterback, a junior
six four two two eight hundred and twelve yards passing
eight touchdowns seven interceptions for the Falcons. They are running
(20:10):
back Kaylon Triplett is really good. Five hundred and forty
five yards, seven touchdowns in seven games. He was banged
up at one point during the season, but three touchdowns
on the season.
Speaker 7 (20:22):
We got TJ Thomas, Jakai Lightfoot and lake Au three
and tomorrow Smiley up front for the Dogs.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
All seniors, all four of them seniors.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
All right. So the Falcons will start first and ten
from there on a twenty yard line again, first ever
meeting between these two teams in school history. Tonight. Falcons
in royal blue pants, white tops, blue numbers, blue helmets,
Dogs with white pants, red tops tonight, and we're just
about ready for football. As Davis works out of the shotgun,
he'll move a man in motion. It will be a
(20:53):
handoff to the running back and he scoops through there
for a pretty good little hole up close to the
twenty four yard line. He picks up four yards before
Tyler Moore brings him down.
Speaker 7 (21:03):
Toddald Moore and ty Hudson at the backers, Devin Dixon,
Court Ingram at the corners, Carson Moss, Tyres Bitts, and
Keevan King in the secondary.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
So our good pie is to play of four yards
on first down, second down and six coming up for
the Falcons. They get the snapplay action tips in the air,
nearly intercepted. They tried to get it out, took Avonte Green,
the wide receiver on a quick slant, but Keevy and
King was there to bat that one in the air.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
Boy, that was a great play by Kemp sick by
keev In. Great job.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
He'll bring up a third down and six.
Speaker 7 (21:37):
Probably look for them to throw here. They like this
good throwing quarterback. Now he does a good job at
chunking it. Probably something on the outside. We still got
the four men front for the Dogs with the two.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Backers triplet as the tailback. Davis the quarterback drops back
fires here near side and well overshot his intended target
Cavante Green here on the near side, defended by number
five Carson Moss. It's incomplete and it brings up fourth
down punting time for the Falcons.
Speaker 7 (22:11):
That's a good good job defensively, get them off the
field on third down.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
Wonderful four yards rushing. Good job.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Stephen Shivenonda is the punter and back deep Jamari Miller
stands at around the open like a forty five yard
line and they low snap, got away and it's bible
down to the thirteen yard line of the Bulldogs. They're
gonna pick it up.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
Yeah, that ball, I'm not sure if they hit it
hit one of they.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
Hit the blocker.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
I belave three blockers in the back. It sure did so.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
I'm not sure if it was designed fake or just
a bad snap off the mar but the Bulldogs are
going to have it at the fourteen yard line of Florence.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
That's a big turnover for the Bulldogs. Good job.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
So certainly not what the Falcons wanted to do on
that play early in the game, as Opal like. And
now inside the fifteen of Florence at the fourteen yard line,
first and ten and Kobe Kee will work out of
the shotgun. Jordan Waits will get the start at tailback
for the Dogs. Trips receivers out here to the left side,
and Key will bring big Blake Johnson in motion. Now
(23:15):
he'll line up to the right of the h back spot.
Handoff goes to Waits. Waits trying to bounce it outside,
but he was red nicely in the backfield and that
was actually Tommy Johnson on the stop or on the kerry.
It's a three yard loss and he was wrapped up
there in the backfield. Ht blank, I think on the
stop there and not a good start.
Speaker 7 (23:37):
We got David Miller, Eperson, Jackson, Lee Whitlow and Mason
up front for the Dogs.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
So back to the sixteen yard line, it'll be second
down and twelve, and here's Key drops back throws across
the middle, tight window, but it is caught and hauled
in at his slave Clayton across the middle. Who hauled
that one in? And that's going to be down close
to the six yard line and it's gonna be a
pick up of ten yards.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Good job, good job.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
They're gonna be third and very short coming up here
for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 7 (24:07):
Look for this is two down territory right here. They
got Big Johnson in the air.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Yeah, third down and two at the six yard line
and Big Blake is in there at the fullback spot.
Tommy Johnson is the tailback. And I believe the snap
got away from Key and quarterback keeper right side, and
Key's gonna be down to the two yard line. That's
gonna be enough for a first down. It to be
first and gold Bulldogs at the two. Now picked up
of four yards. I didn't know if that snap got
(24:33):
away from Key, but I.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Don't know where. It looked like he pulled out of
there a little early.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Yeah, they've been a designed quarterback keeper right side. But anyway,
the Bulldog's knocking on the door. First and goal from
the two yard line. Again, I backfield, Blake Johnson is
there and again it's gonna be a handoff two Johnson,
this time right side. He's in there for a touchdown.
Boy quick, give the Johnson the full back and that
Hammer strikes first and it is six nothing bull with
(25:00):
ten oh one remaining here the first quarter.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
Now, I was gonna let you just go right ahead
and tell him his nickname, the Hammer.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
Well he said, he said he likes that one, so
it's sticking. So we said, all right, we're going with it.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
That's great, and here's the Bulldogs lining up in a
swinging gate. Look as with ten o one remaining, the
Bulldogs strike first. A big miscue by the Falcons on
a punt set the Bulldogs up first and ten at
the thirteen Opelika show, and they may go for two.
Here a little toss play out and to Julian Pritchet
and he's inding in zone and the two point conversion
(25:36):
is good.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
O show O sho.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
There eighty eight. Julian Pritche it in for the two
point conversion and the Bulldogs lead. It ain't nothing with
ten oh one remaining here in the first quarter. That's
scoring try and power by our friends had Opalaka Power
Services hometown people working for you online at Opelaka power
dot Com. Ain't nothing Dogs back after this time out
here on the kicker hald back here inside Bulldog Stadium.
(26:08):
A quick strike for the Dogs. They lead at eight
and nothing going for the two point conversion, and Julian
Pritchett gets it in on a little swing pass I
think courtesy of Brody Jones there I.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
Don't way to kick it and over any say.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
All line to the one yard line. They're gonna say
it did not quite get into the end zone. So
Pearson on a return here, Pearson's gonna be brought down
at the eleven yard line. A good stop there in
special teams by the Bulldogs and that was corn ingram
on the stop for the Dogs. And Floren's gonna have
a pretty bad field position back around the eleven yard
line is where they're going to start first and ten.
Speaker 7 (26:43):
That's what hey, that's what we we didn't get a
real good look at in the Carver game. But Race
is popping them back there. Great coverage. Our kickoff team
has really been good on the long kicks this year.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
So we'll see Florence's offense, come back out k Davis
over two passing that last time out out of the
shotgun formation. It's the snap delayed hand off here near
side and wrapped up in the backfield that around the
nine yard line. A big time stop for the Bulldogs.
And that was Amary Smiley getting in there and wrapping
up the tailbag.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Sir, that's about a six yard loss.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
That was to Carson Johnson.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
Good gracious, alive, great play.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
A negatives play and then close to six yards lost
back to the five yard line. Is the line of
scrimmage now here on this second down in sixteen play
here for the Falcons, we're.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
Keeping four in the box.
Speaker 7 (27:40):
Stacking the other two backers playing that too deep look
in the secondary, too heap zone.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Johnson remains the tail back to the right here at Davis.
Davis is in his on end zone to get this
snap drops back, pressure comes and a whistle stops this one,
and we'll see. I believe there's a flag on the play.
I don't see exactly where they threw it, but the
flag was blown dead, and we'll wait.
Speaker 4 (28:08):
And try to get the good it's against them.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
I delay a game against the Falcons, all right. So
delay a game against the Falcons. Now this is good,
This is really good. Here man, we got Tom backed
up now, yeah, the line of scrimmage now the three
yard line. This will be second down to eighteen now
for the Falcons.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
Still rushing for put that pressure on that quarterback.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
So triplet not in the game. This again is Johnson
the tailback. But they'll try to throw far aside and
it's overshot as they tried to get it to number
two Jamarian Reider. Incomplete. Devin Dixon was defending there. They're
all three throwing the ball. Here comes your first third down.
This is third down in seventeen. Van de Auta, bring
(28:56):
the pressure. I'm sure they're probably gonna throw it again
a cad to. David tried to go back way across
the field for that pass. It's incomplete. He's oero for
three throwing the football here in the start of this game,
and he's backed up in his own en zone here
on a third and a mile here, third and eighteen
coming up for the Falcons. Two white outs either side
here for Davis as he takes this snap out of
the shotgun from the end zone, drops back, wants to
(29:16):
throw a deep fade passed down the sidelines, well defended,
tipped in, almost intercepted by cord Ingram. It's incomplete. Cord
Ingram almost came up with it. He bobbled at about
two or three times at the fifty yard line and
could not come down with it. Ey, that was a
two versus two battle there as court Ingram was battling
Jamerian Reider. And it's incomplete, fourth down and punting time
(29:39):
for the Falcons.
Speaker 7 (29:39):
That was a great play by cord I mean, he
played that just the way a corner's sposed to play
It kept right with that guy.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
Great play.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
Yeah, And right now, kay Davis the quarterback has started
the gamezer for four through the air and not much
from the ground game either. So Mark and eighteen minus
two yards rushing and the punter, Stevens Shivenondo will punt
it from the end zone. A line drive punch scooped
up by Miller at the forty yard line. Jamari trying
to set up her turn here the thirty five, Jamari
(30:09):
stutter steps in retreats out of bounds at around the
thirty yard line. I may I got a late shove there.
We'll see what this penalty was I'm not sure if
they were going to get a block or maybe a
late hit there. I don't know. We'll have to wait
for the white hat. He is miked up tonight.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
Yeah, he shoved he am out of bounds. She will.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
We'll get the call here for the white hat eat
thirty five remaining here in this first quarter, and I
believe white hats skip po tonight. Down on the sidelines.
Let's see what this one is.
Speaker 8 (30:43):
After the play, personal foul on the ktem penalty if
you have to.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Distance of the gold down. Yeah, so it was a
late one on the falcons there, so that's going to
be a fifteen yard penalty.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
And set up good.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Now we're inside the fifteen, down at the fourteen and
the starting feld position here Coach thirteen was the previous
starting field position and the fourteen is this one?
Speaker 4 (31:05):
Yes, sir, this is play number five for the Dogs.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
And here comes Colby Key out of the shotgun first
and ten at the fourteen yard line of Florence. It
will be a handoff to Jordan Waits, goes right, cuts
it inside across the ten and down to the nine
yard line for a five yard pickup by Jordan Waits.
Speaker 7 (31:24):
Great job by Jordan great locking up front, Jackson Lee
and Darius Whitlow, the sophomore over on the right side.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
Really good by him and.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Eric Mason Waits came in tonight fifty seven carries, two
hundred and twenty three yards and two touchdowns. Of course,
Calvin the leading back one hundred and eighteen carries for
eight hundred and sixty four yards. And now check it
in the ballgame. I believe Tommy Johnson is the tailback. Now.
Now it'll be a reverse play of Miller here near
sign and Miller is making some men miss inside the
(31:54):
five and they'll walking in touchdown. And big Blake Johnson
the hammer laden somebody down leading the way for that one.
And there is a flag down though and around the
eleven yard line. So we'll have to hold the phones
on this one on the celebration just for a moment.
It's only kind of where the reverse happened on the
(32:15):
right side of the play. Jamari went back to the left.
They're gonna bring this one back. We'll get the call
here from the white hat holding on the off end
penalty n all right, so holding penalty still sick it
down against the Bulldogs. That will wipe that touchdown off
the board and it's going to back it up to
(32:36):
the twenty yard line. So now we'll be about a
second and sixteen coming up for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
Must have been on the right where he pitched the
ball coming fast, so the way.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Jordan Waits remains the tail back here for the Bulldogs.
Colby Key out of the shotgun, ke Is throwing one
pass one for one throwing the football. They'll bring a
man in motion. Now they'll take it to Waits and
throw it to Jamari out of the backfield. Tomorro made
a man miss at the twenty inside the fifteen and
pushed out of bounds at around the eleven yard line.
So that's a pick up of nine yards by Jamari Miller,
(33:09):
and that was Otis sistrunked on the stop that forced
Miller out of bounds for the Falcons.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Good Plague, gotta see if we get this first down.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Right here, vyam Any Falcons fans listened in tonight. We
had a great chat with Kevin Johnson, voice of the
Falcons and their radio crew setting up out here, and
had a good chance to talk to them during the
week and certainly appreciate them and all the Falcons fans
have made the trip down here to Bulldog Stadium tonight.
Third and seven for the Dogs here at the eleven
(33:39):
yard line. He's gonna drop back. Looked across the middle,
nothing there, Look right now, he's gonna run right still,
try to look down. Feel now Kobe will try to
tuck it and run down the sidelines. And he got
inside the ten down and around the eight yard line,
so scrambled a lot for three yards. It's gonna be
fourth down. It looks like coach Moore is gonna waste
no time. Looks like he's gonna bring in Reese and
(34:00):
the field goal team try to put up a field
goal here, seven thirty one, remaining eight to nothing ballgame.
Opalaika with the lead here in the first quarter line
of scrimmage here the eight. This will be a twenty
five yard attemptier for Reese, who is nine for ten
(34:22):
on field goals on the season from the right hash Okay,
Dogs did the shift and they got the Falcons to jump,
and that'll be a first down. Dogs did the little
shift on the field goal. They're going to call a
motion penalty against Opelaika.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
Oh goodness.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Prior to this now fall start on the offense. Well,
coach Moore is not gonna lie that that's a design
play they do where they all shift, and coach more
is gonna come over and have a conversation with the
official and he wants to take a time out and
he wants to have a conversation about this, and we'll
step aside as well. Ain't nothing Bulldogs seven thirty one
(35:06):
remaining in the first quarterback after this time out here
on the kicker, Well, I don't think coach Wore is
gonna win the argument on the sidelines, very very livid here.
As you could tell, he had looked as though he
(35:27):
was telling mact He looked like he told officially told
him before the game he was going.
Speaker 10 (35:30):
To run it.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
Yeah he did.
Speaker 11 (35:32):
He got his money's worth right there.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Yeah, I think he did as well. All right, mc
McCracken with the four seasons Federal Credit Unit Shideline report.
And this will be from the thirteen yard line. Now,
so a twenty eight yard field goal attempt here for
Reese from the right hash again good snamp down and
(35:55):
the kick is on the way and looks like it
is right through the upright, So the kick is good.
By Reece Beasley. The dog stretch here lead eleven nothing
over Florence was seven twenty six left in the first quarter.
Has score drive Power by Hope like a power services
hometown people working for you online at oplelikapower dot com.
Let's head down for a four seasons Federal Credit Union
sideline report. Matt, give us an update. What's happening on
(36:16):
the sidelines.
Speaker 9 (36:17):
Well, what's what's happening right the house coast for still
steamed about that because you know, like you said, he did,
he did tell it before the before the game, and
you know, oh, well, look, you know, you fight through adversity.
Sometimes sometimes you get back hall sometimes they go your
way not your way, hey, but listen, playoffs you gotta
you gotta score.
Speaker 11 (36:34):
On every time.
Speaker 9 (36:34):
And we got points out of that drive, even though
it got held back on the on the whole call
and then the shift right there, but look we got points.
Speaker 7 (36:41):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (36:41):
Beasley knocks it through again, makes eleven.
Speaker 9 (36:44):
Defense is playing tremendous right now, so let's just keep
it going. Calming down here, let's get uh, let's let's
keep playing.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Ball boys, all right? Thank you Mac. Thirty yard field
goal officially there for Reece Beasley so and he puts
the Dogs up eleven to nothing and two starting field
positions for the Dogs the thirteen yard line and the
fourteen yard line. So I know Florence wants to work
on that. Coach. If you're the Florence coach, you don't
want to let the Dogs have starting field position inside
(37:10):
the fifteen both times.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Those two penalties hurt us too, But we've got eleven points.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
You're right, all right, Reyes Beasley has it teed up
and the kick is end over end trying to keep
it away from Jay Shine. Pierson will have a chance
to return it across the fifteen and ran into a
bunch of Falcons and bounce off of them like a
bowling pin and gets up close to the twenty five.
They'll say he's down at the twenty five and Ty
Hudson was there for the stop. But Falcons will start
(37:37):
first and ten from their on twenty five yard line.
This is the best field position the Falcons have had
to start and their third possession out.
Speaker 7 (37:45):
That's okay, the twenty five yard line. They got a
twenty five percent chance to score.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Falcons first time out, they muffed the punt, gave the
Dogs the ball of the thirteen and then they had
to punt their last time out.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Got the four man front back with the two linebackers.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
First and ten Falcons from their on day fifteen yard line,
and it looks like the Falcons jumping or they're going
to be a procedure penalty against the Falcons here, So
that'll back them up five yards back to the twenty.
Speaker 7 (38:13):
Five Kenny Prescott and Howl and then do a good
job of shifting right when the other team gets up
on the line van and it causes them to move
the offensive line.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Good job.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
So first and ten from the Falcons on twenty yard
line as they trail eleven nothing seven eighteen to play
here in the first quarter, Davis out of the shotgun
and Davis gets the snap, fakes it to the no
goes inside hand off to the tailback Johnson who's got
a good hole across the thirty five, still on his
feet up across the forty and he's got the forty
one yard line. That's a twenty one yard run by
the tailback the Carson Johnson and Devin Dixon there on
(38:47):
the stop.
Speaker 4 (38:47):
For the dollars.
Speaker 7 (38:48):
We got to do better than that. Now we had
a four man front with two linebackers. They read it
straight up the tubes twenty one yards, have some.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Good misdirection there and the Carson Johnson gets a big
runiss look here on first and ten for the Falcons.
They'll say, actually from the forty yard line, and here's
a toss play far side and Johnson that time is
wrapped up for a loss. That was Ty Hudson there
and also Tremaine Thomas on the stop in the backfield
and gonna lose two maybe three yards. I think it's
(39:16):
a three yard loss. Looks like it will be excellent.
Back to the thirty seven yard line.
Speaker 7 (39:22):
They toss that ball back out on that quick sweep
on the left side and we able to pull him
down for the loss.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
Second down, thirteen six, twenty four to play here in
the first quarter again, our score open like eleven Florence. Nothing.
First round playoffs here at Bulldog Stadium. Snap goes to
Davis and they'll go reverse play here near side and
he is in some trouble reader trying to find some
run row and he's cut down by the strong safety.
Carson Moss comes up with a stop as he got
down Jamerion Reeder back inside the thirty yard line. They'll
(39:54):
say he's down at the twenty seven yard line, a
loss of ten.
Speaker 4 (39:58):
Oh, excellent, Well.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
I want to play there by the Dog defense. It's
third down and twenty three. Now for the.
Speaker 4 (40:05):
Falcons, here we go. What you're gonna dial up here?
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Man?
Speaker 5 (40:10):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (40:11):
I would imagine that they're gonna.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Throw five forty two the clock running here in the
first quarter.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
See if o flock is gonna bring three this time
or maybe bring five. Put pressure on him.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Falcons are gonna burn a time out though, and think
it over. So we'll step aside as well. You're listening
to Bulldog football ninety seven point seven kicker FM eleven
nothing Dogs leading here in the first quarter five thirty
four to play Davis out of the shotgun here on
third and long and pressure coming from a leak, Countrey
just throws it into the ground and it's incomplete and
that's gonna be fourth down and it'll be punning time
(40:45):
here for the Falcons.
Speaker 7 (40:46):
Man, that was supposed to be a screen and we
got to the quarterback before they were able to set
the screen up. He just threw it in the ground.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
Well, he's zero for five throwing the ball through the ear.
Speaker 7 (40:58):
Yes sir, Yes, sir, and they're minus that twenty one
yard game. Got him back in the plus column there.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
Well, fourth and twenty three and punting time for the
Falcons five twenty seven left. Punter stands inside the fifteen
to catch this snap and.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
He got a block. Dom's got it and down at
the three yard line. That one was blocked by Zay.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Xavier Thomas got in there, I believe, and block that
he shirt in.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
That's the first one we've blocked this year.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
You realize that, Yes, sir, Xavier Thomas got in there
and blocked that one.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
Yeah, and then it was scooped up I believe by
Jamel Griffin our Tristan Glaze one.
Speaker 4 (41:39):
Wow. Oh, I love to see a block punt.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
I believe that's the first one of the season for sure.
Speaker 7 (41:47):
That's the greatest defense of playing football is a block
put Oh.
Speaker 4 (41:52):
I love to see that.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
Well. A nice job there by the Bulldog special teams
and we've got Brody Jones running quarterback wild cat. Look
here for the Bulldogs inside the five, down at the
three yard line and a little shift, maybe some movement
up there. Tommy Johnson is the tailbag. It's to us
and I think some movement there by the Bulldogs goment.
Speaker 4 (42:13):
That's twenty five yards and penalties already for us. Bronson's
down on the offense by penalty.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
Still first down, all right, so false star. That'll move
the Bulldogs back and that's gonna set things up at
the eight yard line now for Opalaika. So Brody Jones
remains into the quarterback and he gets the snap, runs
to the right side. Jones spins his way ahead close
to the six yard line. So Jones tough running for
(42:45):
a couple there, and that was it. Five oh six remaining,
and now Kobe Key will check back in the ball game.
First time we've seen that look for the dog. So
a little something different there with Brody Jones and they're
running a little wild cat quarterback whorse Jones played quarterback,
went up through middle school. Can he'll go under center
here on this second down and goal play from the six.
(43:08):
Can you'll check the sidelines. You got Johnson the hammer
and then Tommy Johnson is the running back under center.
Quick give to Johnson. Johnson went right inside. He's inside
the two. Johnson trying to spin his way the dog's
push him in the inside for the bulldog touchdown. The
hammer will not be denied, and he chiseled his way
into the zone on that one from six yards out
(43:31):
for a Blake Johnson bulldog touchdown and the dogs of stretch.
That leads seventeen nothing over Florence before thirty one left
here in the first What a weapon he is, Coach mccrackett.
Speaker 4 (43:43):
Yes, sir, Blake the Hammer Johnson.
Speaker 2 (43:46):
If we don't have that printed on a Rainer Meadows
T shirt this week, something's wrong. Rainer. I got you
an idea. I don't know if he can get a
nil deal from that or not. We probably probably have
to steer away from that one. Four thirty one left.
Then again that swinging gate. Look here as Brody Jones
will get the snap and Jones wants.
Speaker 4 (44:03):
To roll right.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
He throws to the end zone and just overshot Drew
Gagliano as he tried to go for two. He had
what he wanted there and Drew was opening the end zone,
but Jones just put a little too much air under
that one. Maybe the excitement from running quarterback there maybe
put a little extra juice on that one score and
try and powered by Opalaca Power Services Hometown people working
(44:24):
for you online at oplelakapower dot com. Seventeen nothing opal
like and leading Florence four thirty one remaining. We're back
after this time out here on the kicker, Helloblika stretches
their lead out and Johnny Cecina is in to kick
(44:45):
this one on. Good to see Johnny in there. And
Johnny puts a good boot into this one, boy Hi
end over end kick sales down to the two yard line.
That's where Pearson's gonna try to return it. And Pierson
ran into a blocker around the seventeen yard line, and
that's wh he's going to be down at say market,
down at the eighteen yard line. So good to see
Johnny in. He's been banged up for a while dealing
(45:07):
with that injury since he suffered back in warm ups
of the Auburn game. So I think that's Johnny's first action.
Speaker 7 (45:12):
There's a good one eleven yard line, twenty five yard
line and eighteen yard line is where Florence is starting,
which the kickoff team's doing a great job for him
yard line.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
So the Falcons from the eighteen yard line and again
the Carson Johnson will be the tail back here for
the Falcons, Kay Davis oer for five passing through the air,
and on the first down play we'll do a spin
around handoff too Johnson who tries to get something going
and just wrapped up there at the line of scrimmage.
A good job by Carson Moss Alan Jackson there as well,
(45:48):
and picked up maybe a half a yard as he
got up close to the nineteen yard line. It'll bring
up a second down and nine for the Falcons.
Speaker 7 (45:56):
We work with a three man front, then back still
a three man looks like they're gonna bring both linebackers.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Johnson a sophomore running back. Here, Davis gets the snap,
lost it over his head. He goes down and picks
it up at the nine yard line. Big time loss there,
as Cad Davis, the quarterback, just lost the snap got
away from him and now he's having a getting on
it back around the nine yard line. So a big
time loss on the play. How many yards loss is that?
Speaker 4 (46:27):
About? Fifteen?
Speaker 2 (46:32):
Yeah? I got to be close to almost twenty twenty
yard loss. Yeah, that's about right now. About ten?
Speaker 4 (46:48):
Ten?
Speaker 2 (46:48):
Okay, yeah, fifteen fifteen? Come on. Davis drops back from
his own end zone, throws dangerous past.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
Tip picked up by the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (46:56):
It was tipped in the air and then coming over
to get at corny ing and it's intercepted. Cord Inger
intercepted of the twenty two yard line off the deflection
and the Bulldogs get another takeaway.
Speaker 3 (47:10):
And that's Court's third interception of the season.
Speaker 4 (47:13):
That's three turnovers for Florence.
Speaker 2 (47:16):
Awesome, well, coach, that's zero for six with an interception
for kay Davis. Not a good start at all through
the air for the Falcons. You're right, and the Bulldogs
have it first in ten at the twenty one of Florence.
Speaker 4 (47:29):
Oh, we got Calvin Hughley in the game.
Speaker 2 (47:32):
Want good to see Calvin in there. Calvin, of course
left in the first quarter against Carver. So his first
action three ZHO three left in the first Bulldogs leading
seventeen to nothing, and it will be Calvin getting the
handoff here left side. Calvin cuts it at the five.
There's a flag down and Calvin's going to be tackled
down at the ten yard line. A good run a
close to eleven yards. Well, they flagged down at around
(47:55):
the twenty one yard line in the range of holding
against Opalaika. We'll wait and get the official call here
from the white hat, what was a pile up? Noah,
that's a low hit on the defense. That's one of
those low cut hits. And boy, they had been doing that,
coach on the pullers of the Bulldog offensive lineman. I
don't know if it's something they've been singing on film,
(48:16):
but they have really that's really been doing that, and
and the Bulldog offensive lineman have been getting hammered lately.
That's half the distance and I've had fifteen yard Yeah,
it's going to be all the way down right at
the six yard line. It's good to see.
Speaker 7 (48:32):
Good to see Calvin running there up that left side
down behind David Miller in Eperson Jackson Lee.
Speaker 2 (48:43):
So first and goal now at the five yard line
actually is where it will be, and Calvin remains the
tailbag and Kobe drops back throws a fade pass in
the end zone Taxavid Washington.
Speaker 12 (48:53):
What a snag touchdown, Bulldos Hello neighbor Jalen Washington. Touchdown
from five yards out, two forty three left here in
the first and it's twenty three nothing Bulldogs.
Speaker 3 (49:07):
Great throat from Kobe Keen.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
A nice snack Chalen going over the defender in the
end zone and bringing that one down.
Speaker 4 (49:15):
Whoa wow.
Speaker 2 (49:18):
Jalen's third touchdown of the season, his twelfth grab of
the season, and a big one there to put the
Dogs up twenty three nothing with two forty three left
here in the first quarter, and Brody Jones will hold.
The swinging gate comes to a close and here comes
the Bulldog field goal formation here Asrhyes Beasley goes back
to try to put hip the extra point. Good snap
(49:43):
and the kick is up and the kick is good.
That score and drive power by Opal like a power
services hometown people working for you online at oplelikapower dot com.
Twenty four nothing Bulldogs, two forty three left in the
first You're listening to the Bulldog football here on the kicker. Well,
(50:06):
dog's not rusty at all after a couple of weeks
all there's been a few penalties here and there. But boy, coach,
you can't complain with the twenty four the lead here
in the first quarter.
Speaker 7 (50:13):
This is good defense doing doing good, offense doing good,
playing really good.
Speaker 4 (50:19):
What we gotta we got to just kick this up
the whole game.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
Forty seven Johnny's Asina back out to kick things off
twenty one nothing, Bob Jones trailing Auburn over just across
the way. Put this thing in the end zone and
Johnny put a good, other good boot into this one,
high end over end kick and they're gonna let her bounce,
and it's gonna bounce at the three and stop there.
And now Pearson's going to try to return it here
(50:44):
near side. Got a lane across the twenty and got
up around the twenty three yard line, and I got
there before Brody Jones brings him down at around the
twenty two to twenty three yard line. Good stopped there.
Two thirty five left here in the first quarter, and
the offense back out for the Falcons and a.
Speaker 4 (51:00):
Thing inside the twenty five yard line.
Speaker 7 (51:02):
It's really really good on the kickoff return, another good
good play right there.
Speaker 2 (51:08):
The Carson Johnson's been running the tailback spot. Hadn't seen
Kaylen Triplett much at all. I don't sure if he's
banged up. He's the junior running back that's been really
good for the Falcons, but it's been to Carson Johnson,
the sophomore has been back there with Kay Davis quarterback, though,
is zero for six with an interception, a delayed handoff
and it was hitting the backfield. There's a fumble and
(51:28):
a scramble for it, and the Falcons are gonna come
up with it at the eleven yard line. The Dogs
were in the backfield to hit that handoff and pop
the ball loose, and nearly came up with it.
Speaker 7 (51:40):
Braden Stintson, Josh Davis, Money Thompson Thomas and Brandon Stinson Dentson.
Speaker 4 (51:46):
We got our two.
Speaker 3 (51:47):
Our number two's in there where they were fired up coasters.
Speaker 4 (51:49):
Now and Alan Jackson's in there at linebacker. Now give
him a little help out there.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
Yeah, lost a ten on the play. They moved and
they moved more, and that will be a five yard penalty.
I was talking with the guys of the Florence radio
crew and they said, which one is Malik Altry coach
And I said, not him. I said that's Jokai Lightfoot
And they said, what about him? That's got to be him.
(52:17):
I said no, And then we finally found Malik and
he goes, boy, y'all got a lot of Malik's fortunate
to have some big guys on that de fitch the line. Yep,
that's our two bunts. Out there right now, all right
line of scrimmage. Now the eight yard line here for
the Falcons and it will be second down in twenty five.
Davis out of the shotgun, gets the snap, drops back,
(52:39):
quick pass far side incomplete, tried to get it to
Jamerian Reader out of the backfield as they brought him
in motion, and another incompletion.
Speaker 4 (52:47):
I so of seven, zero of seven.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
With an interception.
Speaker 4 (52:52):
So the with a pig that's right.
Speaker 2 (52:54):
Yeah. Air attack for the Falcons not going good here
in the early going returnovers third and twenty five here
for the Falcons and backed up from their onw eight
yard line. Dog's got an interception the last time out
on defense. See if the Falcons try to go to
the air here, stay to the ground game. Davis out
of the shotgun gets the snap. He's at the goal line.
(53:16):
He's going to be wrapped up, stayed on his feet
and fell down on the back feel safety for the Bulldogs.
That was Amari Smiley who added the pressure. Hit the quarterback,
slung him around and Davis tried to stay on his
feet and he could not keep his balance and he
falls down to the end zone for the safety with
one thirty five left here in the first quarter.
Speaker 4 (53:34):
Absolutely great, awesome. I can't say we're.
Speaker 7 (53:38):
Playing really, really good and Florence is not playing very
good right now and we're whipping that butt if you
want to.
Speaker 4 (53:45):
Just call it that.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
Well, a safety first for the Bulldogs this season on defense.
And that's twenty six to nothing now, one thirty five
left here in the first and not a good trip
down south here for the Falcons so far.
Speaker 4 (54:00):
We're fixing to get the ball back to that is right, So.
Speaker 2 (54:05):
One thirty five left. Mac mccranking with the four seasons
Federal Credit Union Signeline Report.
Speaker 9 (54:09):
Mack, you're having fun, yeah, man, we're jumping and jiving
around here on the sideline.
Speaker 11 (54:14):
Hey, you know, Dad, you know, is that like you said,
if you look at this from what happened with the.
Speaker 9 (54:19):
You know, with our bad calls right there and taking
the score away from us, from fat and everything and
then kicking the field. I want all you donation to
pay attention to how important a special teams turnover is.
Speaker 4 (54:29):
That block punt swung the.
Speaker 9 (54:31):
Moment that was our first one of the year, But
look how much it swung.
Speaker 4 (54:33):
The whole moment on it was hammer, it was hammer time.
Speaker 11 (54:36):
Then it was interceptions that it was touchdown and that's
just how this thick I'm dog momentum, just rolling baby.
Speaker 4 (54:41):
Nothing better than the block part.
Speaker 11 (54:43):
And oh yes, sorry Amen.
Speaker 2 (54:45):
And Mac just said something. We got to get mc
hammer on the button bar for hammertime. There's a kick
and it will bounce to the thirty five yard line.
Jamari goes back for it and finally scoops it up
around the seventeen. Jamar going to try to get a
return going and it made a man miss at the
twenty eight stail on his feet. You gotta be brought
tow That was really good kick coverage there by the
Falcons and a good job of squibbing that one, and
(55:07):
Jamari had to go back and field. It took some
time to get it and usually on a on a
safety kick there they kicked it off from what the
twenty and really flipped the field pretty good there because
the Dogs are gonna have it from the twenty eight
yard line from so the Dogs of their on twenty
eight yard line first and ten one twenty seven left
after that safety, the Dog stretch that lead now twenty
(55:29):
six nothing as we play still here in the first quarter.
So here comes Kolby Key back out to work first
in ten and Key gets the snap, hands the ball
to the back field. That is Jordan Wait's trying to
bounce it outside to the right side, and he is
wrapped up around the thirty one yard line, so not
(55:53):
much there. About three yards on the carry there for
Jordan Waits.
Speaker 7 (56:00):
This is the first time we've had we've had the
ball on their side of the on our side of
the fifty, isn't it vam it is?
Speaker 4 (56:07):
Yeah, it's kind of strange.
Speaker 2 (56:08):
Yeah. Waits will stay in there at the tailback Blake
Johnson also in there at the full back position. Fifty
four seconds left here in the first quarter high formation.
They'll hand it off to Waits. There's a good hole
across the thirty five, across the forty and up to
the forty five yard line. They'll mark him right at
(56:30):
the forty five yard line, so fourteen yards on the
play and Walt Barrett comes up makes the stop. But
it's a Lambert transfer in storage first down.
Speaker 4 (56:38):
Barrel a bull Dog first down.
Speaker 2 (56:45):
A run right there, So again the Bulldogs first down
from their own forty five yard line. Waits, No, it'll
take it to Waits throw it out to Johnson out
of the backfield and Johnson has it complete up to midfield,
up to the fifty yard line. That'll be five yards
on the play. Lake Johnson could not get away from
(57:09):
the tackle, had one man to beat to really extend
that one. And that is going to be the end
of the first quarter. Dogs won't be able to get
rid of get another play called, and the Dogs will
have it second down and five at midfield when we
start the second quarter. But a great start here for
the Bulldogs through one twenty six nothing over Florence. You're
listening to Bulldog football here on the kicker. Get ready
(57:34):
to start the second quarter. Dogs at midfield, second down
and five and Key's gonna throw one here near side
of Jamari Miller getting the block across the forty five
and pushed out of mounds inside the forty five down
to the forty four yard line, and that's gonna be
a six yard pick up. It will be enough for
a lamborate transfer in storage first down. Good job, good job,
and the Dogs will hurry up here. Colby Key out
(57:56):
of the shotgun at the Florence forty four yard line.
Key gets the snaps the ball to Waits Waits inside
the forty. Good move across the thirty five, and they're
gonna mark Waits down at the thirty four yard line.
Speaker 4 (58:10):
We got the numbers.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
It's gonna be ten yards, a first down again, a
Lambert transferring Stewards first down and coach, they're hurrying up here,
back first and ten at the thirty four yard line
of Florence. Quick handoff again to Waits, Waits right up
the middle and Waits across the thirty and still pushing
the pile, and the Bulldog offensive line driving ahead close
to the twenty seven yard line.
Speaker 7 (58:32):
That's the number two offensive line in there, Jeremy Dillard,
Keelan Jones, Robert Woods and Carmel Torbert.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
That's close to seven yards on that handoff right up
the middle. Now Calvin Hugli will check back in the
ball game. It'll be second down in three Opelaika at
the twenty seven of Florence. Key out of the shotgun
play action, throws out of the flats to Miller. Miller
across the twenty five to twenty first down run and
Miller is pushed down finally the fifteen yard line. That's
(59:01):
gonna be twelve yards. And another Lambert transferring storage first down.
Speaker 4 (59:05):
Kobe's really throwing the ball well tonight, very well.
Speaker 2 (59:10):
So down to the fifteen first and ten, Dogs hurrying
back up leading twenty six nothing just underway here in
the second quarter. Key gets the snap hugely in the game.
They'll fake it to him, throw it to Miller here
near side. Miller at the fifteen makes a man missing.
He's down inside the ten yard line. Now down to
the nine yard line and that is a six yard pickup.
He's seven of seven throwing the football. Can't get any
(59:32):
better than that, man, Oh sir, so good start through
the air in on the ground here for O Palaika
and Big Blake will get a quick breather. Ten eighteen
left here in the first half, twenty six nothing and
a time out on the field. There's a Falcon player
shaking up in the end zone, down on both knees,
so we will step aside a quick time out. You're
(59:53):
listening to Bulldog football leading the Falcons twenty six nothing
back after this on the kicker out of the time out,
Bulldogs second and four and they'll quick throw out here
to quiz Johnson, what a man, what a move he
went right, went back left, and Johnson hear the first
(01:00:14):
down marker is going to be hit down around the
nine yard line. But a great catch by Quiz and
a even better move after the catch there, that's going
to be enough for a first down. So it's a
first down inside the five down to the four yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:00:28):
Yeah, we got the Jalen watch. We've got all the
number twos in right now.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
Blake Johnson in the game, and also Calvin Hugly.
Speaker 4 (01:00:38):
We got our number one running backs. Hey, Kobe is
eight of eight throwing the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
All right, First and goal from the four, They'll hand
it to Calvin Calvin and makes a man missing Calvin's
in the end zone for.
Speaker 3 (01:00:49):
The Bulldog touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
Calvin Hugly, welcome back for a four yard touchdown run.
And that is Calvin's twelfth touchdown of the season. So
certainly good to see Calvin getting back to form. And well,
we need them.
Speaker 4 (01:01:04):
Coach moving forward, Yes, sir, yes, sir.
Speaker 2 (01:01:06):
And somebody went right for him coach at the line
of scrimmage, and Calvin just kind of danced to the
left and said no, thank you. Nine twenty six left
here in the second quarter, thirty two nothing opalaika and
here comes the point after a tempt from Rhys Beasley, coach.
You don't often say you may have a running clock
(01:01:28):
here in a playoff game. Second, you never know, You
never know, not even sure if they allow it or not.
Snap down and the kick is up and the kick
is good. Thirty three nothing, opalaikah leading nine twenty six
left in the second quarter. All dogs here at Bulldog Stadium,
and you're listening opal like a Bulldog football. Here on
(01:01:50):
the kicker, we're back after this time, thirty three nothing,
our score of the Dogs. Kick goes into the end
zone for a touchback and it will be Florence's football.
Thirty three nothing here, nine twenty six remaining here in
(01:02:12):
this second quarter. Let's head down for four seasons. Federal
Credit Union sideline report Matt hey.
Speaker 9 (01:02:17):
Van, all right, that was great to see Calvin get
back in in there and get him a touchdown after
you know, going out against Carver in the first.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
But hey, this sideline is.
Speaker 11 (01:02:25):
Jacked up, man. The boys are having a good time.
Speaker 9 (01:02:28):
Hey, everybody's playing and everybody's you know, moving the ball offensively,
defensively is playing lights out, and uh, hey, have they
gotten the first down, yet offensively one first down.
Speaker 11 (01:02:39):
First they had to run tremendous job one first time.
Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
Auburt, leading Bob Jones seven to nothing. The finals are
the score there with seven h eight left in the
second quarter and James Clemens has it tied up with
Central Phoenix City. So here's a wildcat look here. They'll
hand it to Carter Gray's a wide receiver right sides
it and he may have picked up a yard maybe two,
(01:03:03):
but not much there as Ty Hudson was there to
bring him down for a short pick up there.
Speaker 7 (01:03:08):
And we got that two defensive line Brandon Stintson, Josh Davis,
Money Thomas and Brandon Stinson in there, and Alan Jackson
and Caden Harrison linebacker.
Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
So a two yard pickup up to the twenty two
yard line. And again it'll be the wild cat look
here with jay Shin Pearson running the quarterback. Trying something different.
Speaker 4 (01:03:32):
Here, got that four to two defense, so.
Speaker 2 (01:03:35):
Pearson lined up at the quarterback. He's got a back
either side for him here on second down and eight
and a flag comes in. I believe the running back
got a little early jump there. We'll have to wait
for the white hat official call here with eight thirty
six left in the second quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:03:51):
I think you're right, Van, little five yard are here.
Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
All right, let's see what the head official says. Defense
still stick it down? Well wrong again, Coach, that was
encroachment by the defense. So five yard penalty. So it'll
be third and three for the Falcons. So up to
the twenty seven yard line.
Speaker 7 (01:04:13):
We got our two defense in there. Somebody just lined
up across the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
So Pierson remains in there at quarterback, and again a
tailback either side Graves and Johnson to either side of
them here on this second down and three playing already
count and they got them to jump again. So again
another defensive lineman there getting trying to get an eager start,
and coach says, all right, we're bringing lightfoot Autree and
(01:04:41):
the whole crew back in here. Smiley, Josh Davis.
Speaker 7 (01:04:46):
Now coach Al and coach look at look at Coach Prescott.
Coach Al is mad.
Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
Yeah, he's giving them the business down there on the
sideline cove until the ball moves first down head up
to the thirty two yard line the line of scrimmage.
Now Pierson gets the snap and faked it to the
back wants to keep it himself and he's going to
be wrapped up in the backfield. No, he's going to
try to go left now and got up to around
(01:05:13):
the thirty one yard line. Still's gonna lose a yard,
but he almost lost a bunch. Carson Moss on the
stop there, and he'll lose a yard. It'll be second
down on eleven. They lost one yards eleven.
Speaker 4 (01:05:27):
Good job, good job. Got the big boys back.
Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
In there, so Florence. So they're on thirty one yard line,
thirty three. Nothing opal like a leading seven thirty two
remaining here in this second quarter from Bulldog Stadium. Seven
to twenty five o'clock is running here in the second quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:05:48):
We've got all our starters back in there now, two.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Wide receivers right, a single receiver left side. Davis back
in the ball game, and boy the running back got
laid out as coach McCracken, Oh baby, coach mccrack it
will take it from here, folks. I'll see y'all next week.
Speaker 7 (01:06:06):
Hello, Mama, wow, I wish you'll could have seen that
and not watching it on TV.
Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
That was Amary Smiley in the backfield again for the Bulldogs.
That was beautiful and Coach's reaction says it all there
as he hit him right in the backfield.
Speaker 4 (01:06:26):
Third down and fifteen, we're rushing four.
Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
Yeah, line of scrimmage, a twenty seven yard line. Davis
under center, and he'll play action. Davis drops back, trying
to set up a screen. He'll just throw it into
the ground as Amary Smiley was breathing down on him,
and there comes the flag. It's gonna be intentional grounding
against Florence. And boy, you can tell by the look
on Davis's face there and the frustration that boy, he
(01:06:52):
just he did not want any of Amary Smiley and
I can't blame him.
Speaker 4 (01:06:57):
I can't either.
Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
And still have yet to complete a pass through the air?
Is that right, coach? They still had no completions right
for seven?
Speaker 4 (01:07:10):
That's right? No complations.
Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
Well that's eight now, because that was the that was
the right I just wrote it in there, oh of eight. Well,
coach Kenny Morrison from Florence not liking the intentional grounding
call on the offense.
Speaker 8 (01:07:27):
Quarterback was outside the three blonkets On, but the ball
did not cross the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 7 (01:07:32):
It's a five yellard penalty from the spoderfoul loss of
down results.
Speaker 4 (01:07:37):
In a fourth down.
Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
All right, well there's your explanation from the white hat
here inside Bulldog Stadium. Very detailed there. Coach Morrison nineteen
and thirteen overall. This is his third season at Florence.
He led Fayette wal Tennessee High School to the twenty
twenty Class one A state title, thirty four and four
record in three seasons. Also served as an assistant coach
at Decatur for twenty two years. Coach McCracken, So I
(01:07:59):
know' coach more him very well, said sir. This is
the area that he really knows.
Speaker 4 (01:08:03):
And see if facts is gonna bring this one back man.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
Jamari stands it around the forty yard line. To'll wait
this punt from Stephen shivn on days already had one
blocked and they nearly got in there on that one,
just got it away. Jamari has it at the thirty
seven yard line and Jamary is going to be wrapped up. Nope,
brought him down to the thirty four. But there's a
flag down and they run into the kicker. Maybe I
(01:08:29):
don't know if this is a roughing or not.
Speaker 4 (01:08:31):
We'll have to wait and see, I think in high
school it's just roughing, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
Wait for the white hat to come in and Coach
Morrison's time happy.
Speaker 4 (01:08:41):
It must be just running into the kicker.
Speaker 2 (01:08:44):
You're right, and that would just be a five yard
penalty and he could either rekick it or take it
on the return. Mac McCracken is our rules expert tonight.
Speaker 9 (01:08:55):
Mac, what you got, that's what they Yeah, he gave
him the number five hands, So yeah, hey, co coaches,
he very upset with that one.
Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
Yeah. Well, I mean, if you're in their situation, you
want to get any kind of a break you can
right now. And the way this game's going and both
officials come over and.
Speaker 4 (01:09:15):
Wall.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
We got the Daphney Thompson game up now on the
TV here Thompson leading twenty four and nothing midway through
the second quarter. In that game, Spanish fort Le tied
with Benjamin Russell twenty one twenty one. I tell you
that's a Benjamin Russell team that they had a roller
coaster of a season. But when they played Opalaka coach,
that was a pretty impressive bunch to receive a team
(01:09:39):
and you fall off trailing Boar Guards seventeen fourteen, so opelikah,
we'll have the ball first down, so it will be
a five yard penalty at the end of the run.
Speaker 7 (01:09:50):
Oh they changed it, Van, didn't they? No, they didn't.
It's it's it's first down for us.
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
Yeah, it's opl like a football. They're gonna have it
at the thirty four, so they'll have it at the
Florence thirty four yard line. First and ten.
Speaker 4 (01:10:07):
Got our two offensive line in there.
Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
Colby key in the ballgame. This is Calvin Hugley still
in there at the tailback spot. Trips receivers to the
left side of the field. Six sixteen left here in
the first half. Calvin will get the carrier right up
the middle. Calvin inside the twenty five in Calvin going
to be stopped down. Looks like they marked him at
the twenty four yard line. So a good run of
ten yards and should be enough for a Lambert transferring
(01:10:30):
storage first down. It is that will move the chains.
Logan White on the stop there for the Falcons. Thirty
three nothing opal like a six oh four left here
in this second quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:10:41):
Got our number one offense back in there. Miller Eperson.
Leave Whitlow and Mason.
Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
Out of the shotgun as Colby Key Miller was in
the backfield. Now they'll move Miller out of the backfield
in motion. They'll throw it to Miller at the twenty.
Made a man miss and Miller slipped down at the
seventeen yard line. Boy, Miller's gonna want that one back.
That was a little scary coach, when you go when
you slip like that, I was opening Jamari didn't pull
something six yards.
Speaker 4 (01:11:15):
Hey, he's nine of nine throwing the ball now.
Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
Six yard pick ups, second down and four and bulldogs
down at the eighteen of Florence. Second down and four.
Here Now this is Jayalen Nelson who's in at tail back.
Now they'll give a little end a round play to
Brody Jones, and Jones shoves a man out of bounds
and stayed on his feet, and he's gonna have me
close to the first down depending on the spot. Here,
(01:11:39):
looks like the guy who marked at the fifteen yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:11:42):
Daddy Billy will be happy with that little play right there.
Speaker 2 (01:11:48):
That is enough for a first down. So that will
move the chains of Lambert transfer and storage first down,
as they gave Brody the fourteen yard line, So first
and ten Bulldogs at the fourteen of Florence, fourth fifty
three remaining.
Speaker 4 (01:12:04):
There comes the hammer and mister Johnson.
Speaker 2 (01:12:08):
Johnson is the full back end. Blake gets the handoff
and they went down low and took the big hammer
down at around the eleven yard line, and Blake slow
to get up, but he's okay.
Speaker 7 (01:12:20):
Would it be right to say there are two Johnson's
in there at.
Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
The back, Yeah, it's kind of a Johnson and Johnson domination. Johnson, Yeah.
Four twenty six remaining, and the clock continues to run
here in this first half, second down and seven after
that three yard run there by Blake Johnson. Bulldogs down
at the twelve of Florence, and again the tailback is
Jalen Nelson to the left of Key. Jalen Will get
(01:12:44):
the handoff trying to run right side Jalen inside the
six down close to the.
Speaker 4 (01:12:51):
Five yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
They're gonna mark him, I think at the six yard line,
so I pick up close to five yards there.
Speaker 4 (01:12:57):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (01:12:59):
Really good job by that offensive line. He's let those
ones play this series.
Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
Third down and two coming up here for the Bulldogs.
They can get a first down inside the four yard line.
Slade Clayton the full back and Tommy Johnson now is
the running back here in the I formation here for
Kobe Key. As he goes under center, Key gets the snap,
hands the ball off to Tommy. Tommy inside the five
(01:13:25):
and cut down as he spins a head down to
the one yard line. It's going to be first in
goal at the one for the Bulldogs with three twenty
four remaining here in the second quarter league games enough
run over like a first down three eighteen left thirty
three to nothing. Opelaika with the lead and trying to
(01:13:48):
add to it here the late second quarter, Key out
of the shotgun. He's got weights the tailbag fade passing
the end zone and they knocked down the widers. But
they're gonna say, I guess it was not a catchable
ball as it was overshot as they tried to get
it over to Quez Johnson.
Speaker 4 (01:14:07):
That's his first incomplete pass, so trying.
Speaker 2 (01:14:12):
To get quiz one in the end zone. Just a
little too much air under that one for Kobe Key.
Calvin Hugley will stay in there as the tail back
and Johnson to the right, Jamari Miller to the left.
A third a second in goal play rather from the
one yard line. Key gets the hand off they handed
to Calvin. Calvin hit right at the line of scrimmage,
(01:14:35):
and it's gonna be stood up right there at the one,
and they're going to try to push him ahead. They're
gonna say forward progress right at the goal line. So
it's going to be third in goal at the one
here with two forty six left, when it's a big
shots here on Calvin. Good to see Calvin back though,
(01:14:57):
after taking that shot against Carver a couple of weeks ago.
Third down and goal at the one yard line, this
could be Hammer time.
Speaker 4 (01:15:11):
Is just fixing to tell you watch the hammer.
Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
Key under center, gets the snap, hands the ball to Blake,
the Hammer touch down two ten left, hand the Bulldogs
a point after away from this being a forty to
nothing game with two to eight remaining.
Speaker 3 (01:15:29):
Here in the second quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:15:33):
Great blocking up front, hellt Lo belly play, great play.
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
That's Blake's third touchdown of the game too, and with
two eight remaining, a point after away from this will
be in a forty to nothing ballgame. Here inside Bulldog Stadium,
rehees Beasley for the extra point, Brody Jones to hold
Kyle Epperson is your snapper kick is up and the
(01:16:00):
kick is good. All Bulldogs here inside Bulldog Stadium, forty
to nothing over the Florence Falcons, and we're back after
this time out of that scoring drive. Power by OPLE
like a power services hometown, people working for you online
at oplelakapower dot com. And you're listening to OPLE like
a bulldog football here on the kicker. Well, we've had
(01:16:28):
a great view from the Orthopedic Clinic broadcast booth tonight
here inside Bulldog Stadium where the Dogs have put up
forty points here and we still got two oz eight
remaining here in the second quarter over the Florence Falcons
here in the first round of the seven eight state playoffs,
and Auburn having just about as a successful first half
across the way forty two to seven. They leave Bob
(01:16:48):
Jones with two thirty six remaining in the first half.
Good showing here from seven A Region two number sixteen,
Garry Brown at number one. Here is Johnny's Sena kicking
off and Johnny puts another good boot into this one
end over end and it will sell the end zone
for another touchback with two o eight remaining. The offense
(01:17:09):
from Florence will come back out.
Speaker 7 (01:17:11):
And that's their number two's in there again. Get these
guys a lot of playing time, Van, that's good. Alan
Jackson and Caden Harris at the backers.
Speaker 2 (01:17:23):
Got the LEAs down in Florence are down in Foley listing.
I was about to say Florence jamail the opposite ends
of the spectrum, wasn't it Yep?
Speaker 4 (01:17:30):
Yep?
Speaker 7 (01:17:31):
Jameo Griffin and Braden Howard, Ben Schenk and Leland Ball.
Speaker 4 (01:17:39):
In the secondary. Now we're getting all the two's.
Speaker 2 (01:17:41):
In there now first and ten Falcons from there on
a twenty yard line four due defense, Davis out of
the shotgun. They'll try to go to the ground game here,
and that was Cavante Green on the kerry and he's
wrapped up in the backfield by the linebacker Tyler Moore,
and he's going to lose a yard back to the
(01:18:02):
nineteen yard line. So we'll be second down on eleven
coming up for the Falcons, and this point Florence just
trying to get into the locker room. Falcons did not
bring their marching band tonight. They decided to keep them
back up in North Alabama. And I know it's a
long way to try to move a band from one
end of the state to another. But we'll have the
(01:18:23):
spirit of the South marching band coming up for you
at halftime. Second and eleven play, Davis out of the shotgun,
two wide receivers left. It'll be another run play, trying
to bounce in here left side, and a good job
there by the defense coming up making the stop. That
was Braden Stints in the defensive end coming up making
the stop for the Bulldogs. One fourteen clock continues to
(01:18:43):
run close to four yards there on the ground for
the Falcons, and they'll set up a third and eight
from the twenty three yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:18:54):
They still hadn't completed a pass.
Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
Under a minute now, oh for eight remain Carson Moss
checks out of the ball game, all showing pressure here.
On this third and eight play, Davis will bring a
man in motion pistol formation here out of the backfield.
A quarterback gets it hands into the tailback Johnson trying
to run right side to Carson Johnson of Florence, and
(01:19:19):
he'll pick up two yards. It'll be fourth down in
thirty three seconds, winding on down and Coach Morgan to
be content, of course, to let this clock continue to
wind on down as the Falcons try to get this
game into halftime. Here, twenty three down to twenty two,
and they should be able to get this one into
halftime without even snapping this punt. Here, we do have
(01:19:44):
a stoppage in play, Florence calls a time out. I'm
not sure. I'm quite sure why the play clock hasn't
hadn't started, So Florence will take a time out. Head
down for four seasons. Federal Credit Union Sideline report. What's
the field down there on the sidelines.
Speaker 9 (01:20:03):
It's feeling like it should right now, but you know,
you know, talking to some players and all that, they're
just still focused of how they want to just keep
getting better. They're like, you know, hey, you know we're
playing good right now, but you know, we still got
another half. So that's kind of encouraging to hear because
they know, you know, I know, coach Moore has always
preached about the second half, we.
Speaker 11 (01:20:20):
Got to go four quarters. We gotta go four quarters,
and you know, we'd go the one, two, then three,
and then we'd pull off and then keep going pick
up again.
Speaker 9 (01:20:27):
So it's gonna be interesting to see how we come
out here in the second half, but you know, playing offensively,
good defense tremendously and then that special teams that I'm
gonna mention to him at halftime.
Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
All right, thank you mag four seasons Federal Credit Union
Sideline report. So a timeout, what's taken? So now Florence
will have to punt this one away and Steven Shivin
on up. The punter will stand back inside his fifteen
yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:20:51):
They're gonna try to They're gonna try to block this.
Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
I think they're going to back on off. Now it's
like they will go into a return and I'm punt
will drift back. Jamari Miller will call for the fair catch,
and the clock has stopped with four seconds left. Why,
I'm quite surprised didn't let time wind on down and
head into the locker room. But sure the Bulldogs will
come out and drop to a knee and head into
the locker room. Here leading forty to nothing with four
(01:21:17):
seconds left, Auburn stretches their lead out. They've scored again.
They leave forty eight to seven. Now over Bob Jones.
You get updated on the Central Phoenix City game. It's
thirty five fourteen Central. So Central has turned it up
since the last time we checked in on that game.
(01:21:38):
Central making the long trip up north for the first
time in the first round and on quite a while,
Koby Keel go out of the shotgun here first and
ten Bulldogs when they're on the forty three yard line,
just four seconds left at a final play here this
first half, and they'll bring Quez Johnson in motion. Quez
trying to work the near side, and you'll run out
(01:21:59):
of bounds at around the forty nine yard line and
that will be it for the first half of play.
We'll get back McCracken to catch up here with coach
Brian Moore. A visit with Coach Brian Moore at halftime,
brought to you by Kipping Sons Printing, Keimping Sons Printing,
locally owned and operating off enterprise driving Opalaika for all
your sign printing and everything you need in the printing world.
(01:22:22):
Kipping Sons Printing, Brian Bass and the Bass family all
open like a graduate's there, Coach Brian Moore having a
word with a white hat though before we get to
him and the spirit of the South Marching Band, it's
like Coach Morrison's waiting on the white hat as well.
He's gonna get hit from both ends here, coach, Yeah ahead,
(01:22:44):
coach from Florence waiting to talk to him when he
gets done with Coach Brian Moore. But we'll have coach
Moore first and then a white hat will have coach Morrison.
All right, Mac, take it away.
Speaker 11 (01:22:54):
Thanks, like Coach Moore, dogs will can do it here early.
Speaker 9 (01:22:57):
You know, hey, offensively, defensively, playing tremendously, but I know
you talked during your show in all week You're like,
we need that big play either a kickoff return.
Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
Coach.
Speaker 11 (01:23:06):
We got a first block punt of the year and
look at the momentum.
Speaker 10 (01:23:09):
It swung.
Speaker 5 (01:23:09):
Yeah, and we have two tenth graders going in there
to block at Xavier Thomas and Jamail Griffin, and Jamail
got it. He fell down trying to scoop it and
score it. But you know, those are two guys that
are long and athletic, that can run, and we're starting
to put some of those tenth graders you know now
that really aren't tenth graders anymore, you know, played eleven
ball games and putting them on it. But yeah, I'm
proud of all three phases. But the key is, like,
(01:23:30):
you know, We're gonna run the clock in the fourth quarter,
We're gonna play regular in the third. But how do
we go about finishing this? You know, how do we
you know, do we keep our foot down? Because we
were really fresh and explosive, more explosive than we've been
in a while, and you could tell that.
Speaker 10 (01:23:43):
But can we continue to do it and continue to
play at a high level?
Speaker 9 (01:23:46):
Yeah, I know that's one thing that you know, me
and Van Pops talked about how, you know, coming out
of that second half, how we're gonna look, how we're
gonna do And I know, even though you know what
Starter's going, you got those young dogs in there, and
you want to see the best.
Speaker 4 (01:23:57):
Out of them. Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 10 (01:23:58):
I mean, this is an opportunity.
Speaker 5 (01:23:59):
You think we got thirty seniors, Okay, when they walk out,
you know, out the door here.
Speaker 4 (01:24:03):
In a month, you know, what are we going to do? Then?
Speaker 10 (01:24:05):
You know, we got to play our young kids here
in a playoff game.
Speaker 4 (01:24:07):
That's when it matters.
Speaker 8 (01:24:08):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:24:08):
When they start playing in November, they get used to
it and it's not too big for them. And so
you know, I'm excited to see them in a third quarterback.
I'm really proud of our old kids for how they
handled the first half.
Speaker 11 (01:24:18):
Sounds good, coach. Let's go talk to your dogs.
Speaker 2 (01:24:19):
Thanks Matt, all right, thanks so much, Matt McCracken with
that visit with coach Brian Moore again, brought to you
by kemping' son sprinting forty to nothing. Our score here
at the half opal like a leading coming up all
the way. Next we'll have our halftime and of course
a little bit later on we'll be chatting again with
coach McCracken and we run down the first half statistics
as we continue here for Bulldog Stadium. We'll be right
(01:24:42):
back after this time out here. Let's do pu like
a football here on the kicker. Beter Rick's back here
inside Bulldog Stadium as we get you ready for the
second half action here all dogs forty to nothing. In
taking a look at that first half, Colby Key rushing
(01:25:03):
had two attempts for ten yards, but throwing through the air,
Kobe was almost perfect. Nine to ten sixty four yards,
averaging seven yards of pass. Thirteen was a long one
and it had to throwing touchdown through the air. That
was as he hooked up with Jalen Washington for his
third touchdown of the season. Jamari Miller leading receiver of
(01:25:24):
four receptions thirty three yards and a thirteen was his longest.
Quest Johnson had one reception, also for five yards, and
rushing the football kind of a by committee tonight. Jordan
Waite's leading carrier tonight for the Bulldogs five carries thirty
six yards and a long win of thirteen averages just
over seven yards per carry. And then you got Blake
(01:25:47):
Johnson with four carries thirteen yards three touchdowns there in
the first half of the hammer, Brody Jones a couple
of carries for five yards, Quest Johnson a carry for
seven yards, Calvin Hugley just three carries twenty five yard
yards and one touchdown, though they're in the first half.
When you look at these team statistics, though, boy it's
not pretty. If you're a Florence Falcon minus twenty four
(01:26:09):
total yards of offense. O Palaika with one hundred and
sixty eight Ope Palaika with one hundred and four rushing
yards just two rushing yards for Florence through the air
sixty four yards passing for the Bulldogs minus twenty six
for Florence. Bulldogs had five penalties and Florence had six penalties,
(01:26:32):
one turnover for the Falcons, Dogs three for three on
pat and Opelika possession twelve minutes and twenty nine seconds
and the Falcons eleven minutes and twenty eight seconds the
possession there head down on the sidelines for a four
seasons Federal Credit Union sideline report.
Speaker 7 (01:26:49):
Mac.
Speaker 2 (01:26:49):
How was the feeling in the locker room? I guess
everybody pretty happy?
Speaker 9 (01:26:53):
Yeah, oh yeah, oh extremely, extremely But hey, you know
they met with their eight individual coaches, you know, because
we got you know, who's the threes going in there.
But he told him, he said, listen, if you start
us calling, you know, when you start us, come out.
He goes, I don't want you to, you know, sit
in the stand talking to people in the stands. I
need you to be in cursing these younger guys and
keep engaged in in the game.
Speaker 11 (01:27:12):
So no lollygag, can.
Speaker 4 (01:27:13):
Just stay with it.
Speaker 9 (01:27:14):
But yeah, they came out here and they did what
they needed to do, and you know, second half, but
let's see how these these younger guys playing and just.
Speaker 11 (01:27:21):
Just keep playing.
Speaker 9 (01:27:22):
I know, we got you know, regular third quarter non
you know, one o'clock in the fourth. But let's play
some dog football here. Let's go older drive here and
put at the endzone because I know we get the ball.
Speaker 7 (01:27:32):
Hey, Matt, so you know you used a word just
to men to go that I remember called lolly gag.
Speaker 11 (01:27:37):
That's it what you expected.
Speaker 7 (01:27:40):
Expand on that comment to coach Riggs.
Speaker 11 (01:27:44):
If you don't mind, man, it's off a bullder lily.
You lily gag the ball around me and your lily
gag your way down the first base.
Speaker 4 (01:27:54):
Here you go.
Speaker 2 (01:27:55):
That's it, ay been well. If there's anybody with a
movie reference, it's Mac mcrackett. There's no doubt about it.
At forty to nothing our score here at the half,
and uh, you know what, Coach, it won't be along.
We'll see the golf cart riding around here and they'll
be cleaning things up and we'll be getting ready for
round two.
Speaker 7 (01:28:11):
You're right, let's get this second half done, not get
anybody hurt.
Speaker 2 (01:28:21):
Well, and next week, opelaika, if this score hangs on here,
certainly looks the good Bulldogs will be heading on the
road to face the Hoover Buccaneers in round two. That
will be a road game for the Bulldogs, but Ain's
second half to go. Here, the Falcons have it teed
(01:28:42):
up and getting set to kick it off for the
first time tonight for the Dogs. Chandler Dixon. Well, got
a boot into this one and it goes all the
way into the end zone. Really good kicker there for
the Falcons.
Speaker 4 (01:28:56):
Yeah, that's the first time we've seen him.
Speaker 2 (01:28:59):
It is first kick. Don't see me anymore, right, first
kicked off for him, so he's been staying loose on
the sidelines. It'll be first and ten for the Bulldogs
Opelika from their own twenty yard line. Now, the Bulldogs
regular backup quarterback c. J. Sank banged up, not dressed
out tonight, so we'll see just how long they'll go
with kolbe Key and then who will come in after that.
(01:29:20):
You could see a number of options there at quarterback,
and one of those could be and we got the
We got cooler young got the first butche in there.
Jalen Nelson, the running back for the Bulldogs. Here on
first and ten Dogs from their on twenty yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:29:37):
And it's there and moved.
Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
So a little jumped there by the Bulldogs. That'll back
things up five yards back to the store on the
offense of yard Pillarmies. Back them up to the fifteen
yard line and we'll be first in fifteen now as
we getting ready to start the third quarter here Bulldogs
Stadium again. Ope like a leading forty to nothing and
Region two trying to do a clean sweep. Everybody with
(01:30:04):
pretty big leads right now, even the four seed Enterprise
up take it on Austin. Jalen Nelson with the first
carry for the Bulldogs and Jalen carries up close to
the twenty one yard line. So that's a good six
yard carry there for the sophomore running back Jalen Nelson.
Speaker 7 (01:30:18):
Yeah, he's just a tiff graders. Looks good running that ball.
Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
He is the fastest man on this team, yes, six foot,
just shied two hundred pounds too, and he's got some
good size and some good speed. As coach mentioned there,
key out of the shot going to be second and
nine after that run of six, and they'll go back
to Jalen. Know Kobe will pull it and try to
throw and it is intercepted by Florence inside the twenty
and that's going to be a pick six gunment intercepted
(01:30:45):
by the Falcons. Zoe Martin first team All State, and
he led the team in tackles coming in tonight, and
he got a pick six there. Kobe tried to float
that one, did not see that linebacker, and he picked
it off and returned it for a foul touchdown with
eleven twenty left here in the third quarter. And that
was Colby's sixth interception of the season, so one that
(01:31:08):
Colby certainly would like to have back. Wait, get that
one out of your system here in this second half
against Florence. Can't have those moving forward down the stretch.
Here's the point after attempt for Chandler Dixon. It's up
and good Florence on the board for the first time tonight,
Forty to seven on an interception for a touchdown, and
(01:31:32):
you're listening, OPU like a Bulldog football. Dog's forty Florence
seven back after this time out this word from opalaka
Power Services fall back at Bulldog Stadium. They pick six
for the Falcons. Zoe Martin with an interception six foot,
(01:31:54):
one hundred and eighty six pounds junior for the Falcons,
and he returns it for a touchdown and the Falcons
are on the board for the first time tonight. Forty
to seven the score now and Dixon puts another good
boot into this one, high end over end, kicking that
one says well into the end zone. He had another
touch back there for Dixon, So after he stayed on
(01:32:17):
the sidelines and didn't kick a ball for the entire game,
he's kicked two in about five minutes eleven twenty left end.
Bulldog's offense will come quickly back out from their own
twenty yard line and Colby Key coming off an interception thrown,
so I'll try to put that one behind him quickly
and come back out. We'll see Tommy Johnson be the
(01:32:38):
tailback here for the Bulldogs first and ten Opolaika from
their own twenty yard line. Two wide receivers for the
left side of the field here for the Bulldogs, and
Kobe gets the snap of quick hand off to Tommy Johnson,
went right, cut left across the twenty five Tommy up
close to the thirty yard line. Got to be a
(01:33:00):
run and close to ten yards and close to a
first down. It will be enough for a first down,
a Lambert transfer in storage Bulldog first down that will
move the chains and Tommy remains a tail back here
for Colby Key. A pistol set two wide receivers to
the left side of the field. Forty seven. Our score
(01:33:21):
just underway here in the third quarter option play, coolbe
Key pulls it, wants to run left side, and Colby
tackled near the line of scrimmage. Oby was in some
trouble there and was able to get back just enough
to get the line of scrimmage before the sidelines met
him at the thirty yard line. HT blank on the
(01:33:41):
stop there and a penalty. It looks like on the
play it looked like Kobe's helmet came off, so fuller
young action will come in the game now quarterback, so
no penalty there. On the play, Kolby actually lost the yard.
It'll be second and eleven, a hand off to Tommy
Johnson left side, and Tommy hit at the line of scrimmage,
(01:34:04):
picked up three maybe four yards. It'll set up a
third and eight. Got up to the thirty two yard line,
so a pickup of three and we'll see Jalen Nelson
check back in the ball game. Kolby having a long
conversation with coach Brian Moore. Looks like you'll have his
(01:34:27):
helmet off. It's gonna stay Fuller young here on this
third down to eight play under ten to go here
in the third.
Speaker 4 (01:34:33):
Quarter, and I said, if we can pull get this
first down.
Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
Fuller gets the snap, hands the ball off and a
good run by Jalen Nelson up to the thirty six
yard line. Four yard pickup and not enough for the
first down, and it will be fourth down. It'll be
punting time here for the Bulldogs. This first punt they've had,
isn't it first time we've seen Johnny Cecina tried out
(01:34:58):
to punt today. Jay Shid Pearson back to receive this punt.
Dangerous return guy.
Speaker 4 (01:35:07):
That's a that's the big boy punting, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:35:11):
Johnny Cissina.
Speaker 4 (01:35:12):
All right?
Speaker 2 (01:35:12):
I should Sion Henderson not Johnny Senon Henderson. Yeah, Zion Henderson,
My my apologies, mister Henderson. Johnny was back tonight and
had Johnny on my mind. Oh look at this, Diane
Henderson with a big boot, fair catch calling forth the
thirty one yard line and taken by Jay Sean Pearson.
That's a big one, Coach, you didn't want him to
return it. So great punt hereby Zion Henderson and he
(01:35:36):
comes in cold. It's a little celebration as he comes
out in high five coach Marshall Myers, who helps with
the kickers. Forty to seven our score and nine minutes
left here in the third quarter, we see some substitutions
again coming in here for the Bulldogs on defense, big
number ninety four checks in the game.
Speaker 4 (01:35:54):
There.
Speaker 2 (01:35:54):
That's Colt Dixon, a big sophomore. That can't be right.
Speaker 4 (01:36:01):
Man, Look.
Speaker 2 (01:36:07):
That that can't be right. For ninety four, that says
two O five we could get up there.
Speaker 4 (01:36:13):
Now five oar County still first down, that's off sides.
Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
Yeah, I don't have a ninety four on my roster
on the updated one that I got sent, so I
have to get some explanation there. They moved, so another
movement penalty, this time against it'll go against foreign So
(01:36:47):
on the offense they got five, we got five, everybody
getting five, and we're back to where we started. First
down and ten for the Falcons.
Speaker 4 (01:37:00):
We got our number two's in there now.
Speaker 2 (01:37:03):
Falcons from their thirty two yard line eight point fifty
eight left. Dropping back quarterback fired over the head of
his intended receiver. Tory Jones was the intended target. They're
incomplete and it will be second down and ten.
Speaker 4 (01:37:32):
Got the four to two front.
Speaker 2 (01:37:35):
Hand off right side, and this is Johnson on the
carry for the Falcons, and he's going to be stopping
around the thirty seven yard line, so to be third
and short coming up here for the Falcons. Not third
and four, third and about four maybe closer to third
and five. Third down four to be third and four
(01:37:57):
under eight thirty to go forty to seven are score
Opelaika with the lead. As we play here in the
third quarter, Davis out of the shotgun. He's got two
receivers to the left side. Hard count there by Davis.
He'll check the sidelines and the running back remains to
Carson Johnson. They're bringing five pistol formation snap hand off
(01:38:17):
to Johnson trying to run left side. Nice hitting there
in the backfield, and then the Dogs come to the
rescue and a good stop there by Opelaika. That was
Leakedrick Berks in there on the stop and Leland Bell
the first one there, and then Burke's came in there
and now clean things up.
Speaker 4 (01:38:35):
Good job.
Speaker 7 (01:38:36):
That's that number two defensive line, just Stenson, Davis, Thomas,
and Denson Lake.
Speaker 2 (01:38:41):
Hedrick is a sophomore are junior rather linebacker for the Bulldogs.
It's fourth down. Here comes the punting team in Steven
Shivenonda will punt it around the twenty one yard line.
Quez Johnson back to return this punt. Johnson Tron's back
around the twenty three, gets the ball, tries to go
(01:39:03):
left side west, trying to turn it up field, slip
the tackle, steal on his feet up around the thirty
yard line and brought down right at the thirty's where
they're going to get him down. So the Bulldogs will
have it first in ten Opulaika from their own thirty
yard line with seven sixteen remaining here in the third quarter,
and we'll see which offensive group trites back out here
(01:39:24):
for the Bulldogs. Kobe looking like maybe his day may
be done as Fuller Young came in to run quarterback
and it will remain Fuller Young, No Colby Key coming
back here back in now Fuller was coming out and
then Koby said, nope, but I got another driver to
vy CJ. Pink is the tail back. He'll stand directly
(01:39:45):
behind Kobe Key on this first down and ten play
with seven sixteen to go, and it'll be Pink getting
the handoff left side. Pink with a big hole across
the forty and Pink up close to the forty five
yard line. They'll say his knee touched down at the
forty four yard line. Ben Lamb was a fourteen yard
run by CJ. Pink.
Speaker 4 (01:40:04):
CJ.
Speaker 7 (01:40:04):
Pink's been hurt the last three weeks and he's back
playing now doing a good job.
Speaker 2 (01:40:11):
Just CJ's fifth carry of the season. First and ten play.
CJ gets the hand off again. Nice move. CJ carries
it up close to midfield. He's got the fifty yard
line for six yards and the clock continues to run
six forty one remaining here in the third quarter, forty
(01:40:34):
to seven. Opelaika with the lead here in the third quarter,
Ben Rigs coach Spence McCracken. Mac McCracken on the sidelines,
Jason Lee are Spoder tonight. Second down in four play again,
they'll give it to Pink right side. Pink's got the
first down as he carries it to the forty six
yard line for four more yards and that should be
enough for a Lambert transfer and storage first down. No
(01:40:54):
signal yet, though it is a first down. White Hat
comes in as signals in the first down. Slade Clayton
comes out. We'll see Julian Pritchett Chick in the ball game,
and also number seventy one, David Miller checks out off
John after hal first inten o polaika at the forty
(01:41:16):
six yard line of Florence, white out either side. Slade
Clayton is the h back and CJ. Pink remains a tailbag.
They'll empty the backfield now. Kobe Key drops back throws
and one on one come back route over on the
far side of the field intended for Ques Johnson. Incomplete
good coverage thereby Darien Brown of Florence and coverage there
(01:41:43):
on Ques Johnson. It's incomplete second down in ten for
the Bulldogs.
Speaker 7 (01:41:48):
Little ten yards stop pattern and the defensive guy played
that real good.
Speaker 2 (01:41:53):
The corner over there, white out either side, and off
he goes to Pink right up the middle. CJ app
up and still pushing the pile down close to the
forty one yard line, and that's going to be close
to five yards and it'll set up a third and
five four opelaika and we'll see Jalen Nelson come in.
He'll substitute in for c J. Pink. Good job by Pink,
(01:42:15):
It's a good couple carries there for CJ.
Speaker 7 (01:42:17):
It's good blocking up front. We got that two bunch
in there, Woods Jones and Torbert.
Speaker 2 (01:42:23):
I bet coach Ben Landers ran a lot like c J.
Pink when he was playing.
Speaker 4 (01:42:26):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:42:27):
Here's Jalen Nelson carrying. Jalen's right there near the first
down marker at the thirty one yard line. All right,
I should say at the thirty that's sex yard line.
I think that's a five yards I said enough for
a first down. Oh boy, Joe Lambert transferring storage first
(01:42:48):
down four fifty remaining here in this third quarter. Jalen
Nelson remains a tailback to the left of Kobe Key.
Two white outs to the right side of the field,
and they'll bring pretch it in motion. He's the h
back now to the left side of the field. Kobe
Key gets the stamp Nelson. We're on the right side
across the thirty five thirty. Jala nearly broke it. He's
(01:43:11):
going to be brought down to the twenty five yard
line eleven yards thereby Jalen Nelson. Good run there by
the sophomore.
Speaker 4 (01:43:17):
Good job. That's four first downs this half.
Speaker 2 (01:43:22):
And another Lambert transfer and storage first down, CJ. Pink
back in the ball game. Now all on the ground
here for the Bulldogs under four to twenty to go
here in the third quarter, open like a leading forty
to seven over Florence Key gets the stamp, hands into Pink.
Pink hit at the line of scrimmage in I'll push
a pile up maybe for a couple there on the
(01:43:43):
play down to the twenty four they'll say, just a
pickup of a.
Speaker 4 (01:43:47):
Yard, got our first bunch back in there.
Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
Now three fifty five remaining here in the third quarter,
Washington will wide out into the left. Now Ques johnsonill
line up as the inside receiver to the left. Both
white Outs to the left.
Speaker 6 (01:44:03):
C J.
Speaker 2 (01:44:04):
Pink the tailback. He gets the snap, hands it off
to Pink. Pink trying to find some running room right side.
But that was a nice stop by Zoe Martin. That's
the All State linebacker who had the pick six and
a negative play there for the Bulldogs. That'll be third
down and twelve for Opalaika lost a couple on the
play back to the twenty six yard line. Actually, the
(01:44:28):
twenty seven two white Outs left single receiver to the
right side, Jalen Nelson back in. There is the tail
back to the left of Colby Key. Now Key will
move them over to the right. Jalen Washington lined up
wide to the left side of the field. Colby drops back, set,
surveys the field, steps up in the pocket, tosses one
(01:44:50):
dangerous pass, tipped and nearly intercepted on the play. Otis
Cis Trunk Junior. There got a pall on that one. Yeah,
that was a very he contested throat out there, like
Kobe Keith, I was close. So it is fourth down
and Bulldogs are going to send in Johnny Cecina and
(01:45:12):
try to get him to get a field goal. Try
in here with two fifty six left. Johnny just won
attempt on the season, was banged up in the Auburn game,
and this will be the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 7 (01:45:27):
Here the.
Speaker 2 (01:45:30):
Twenty seven forty four yarder yep, forty four yarder from
the right hash. Johnny comes up, puts a big boot
into this one, and that is good.
Speaker 4 (01:45:42):
I'd a boy.
Speaker 2 (01:45:43):
Well, good to see Johnny Cecina back and he boots
a forty four yard field goal from the right HASH.
Good kick by the senior there. Now that's scoring Dry
and Power by hopel like a power services hometown people
working for you online Hope Lack of Power dot com.
Big round of applause for Johnny's to seen. All the
coaches come over and give him a big pat on
(01:46:05):
the helmet. There forty three seven Bulldogs with the lead,
and we're back after this time out. You're listening to
Bulldog football Here on the kicker.
Speaker 12 (01:46:12):
W kk R Auburn Opelaikah is Lee County's Best Country
ninety seven point seven kicker FN and iHeart Country Station.
Speaker 2 (01:46:28):
Hell Here for the Northpeedic Clinic broadcast Boothy Salabama's go
to Center for Orthopedic Care. Opalaika leading Florence forty three
to seven, and the Dogs put up a forty four
yard field goal courtesy of the leg of Johnny Sussina.
Now Rhys Beasley will try it out to kick this
one off right as Opelaika leads forty three to seven.
(01:46:50):
Only score the night for the Falcons. They pick six
an end over end kick inside the five yard line
and this will be returnable here for the Falcons. A
nice tackle down by the Bulldogs special teams.
Speaker 4 (01:47:05):
Is there a penalty?
Speaker 2 (01:47:06):
I don't think so. Okay, Kristin Glaze Xavier Thomas on
the stop, I should say for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 4 (01:47:13):
Looks like they're chatting right there.
Speaker 2 (01:47:18):
And do not see.
Speaker 4 (01:47:20):
Okay, we're good.
Speaker 2 (01:47:23):
Forty three seven, we'll see Florence comes out and warms
up another QB here. Looks like they're going to bring
in number fourteen, John Carter Goulesby at quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:47:34):
Got our number two front in there, headline bickers.
Speaker 2 (01:47:37):
Carter Graves is the tailbag. They'll give it to Graves
right side up close to four yards up to the
twenty four yard line. They eight four yards, second six.
(01:48:00):
Goolsby is a sophomore running the show at quarterback now
for the Falcons. Second down in six for their on
twenty four yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:48:08):
Got the four to two defense again.
Speaker 2 (01:48:10):
Goolesby gives the ball off to Graves again left side
and not much there. Good job by the Bulldog defense
to string that one out to just a one yard
pickup as Carter Graves just could not turn the corner.
Lakedrick Burt's on the stop there for the Bulldogs again.
Make it another good stop down third down and six.
(01:48:34):
Actually I think lost to yard or no gain on
the play. Actually third and six from the twenty four
yard line here and Goolesby drops back, wants to throw
and it is actually caught in the thirty yard line.
Spins turns up feel the wide receiver still on his
feet at the forty one yard line before he's finally
brought down at the forty three yard line. That was
(01:48:55):
Jamerian Reeder on the reception and Leland Bell and company
finally to get the wide receiver down. A law with
ven swing is that the first pass completed by Florence Tonight, coach,
I think it is. I believe it is, and that
comes by the arma John Carter Goulsby here in the
(01:49:16):
later part of the third quarter, fifty six seconds remaining,
first down up to the forty three yard line and
they'll hand it to the tailback. Not much there on
that one, but he did shoot through it the last
minute there to pick up a couple extra yards up
to the forty six yard line, picked up three yards
and under forty seconds left here in the third quarter.
(01:49:36):
This fourth quarter will be a running clock, so it's
going to fly on by once we get this fourth
quarter started, and right now, forty three to seven ball
game with opal like a leading here in the later
seconds here the third Gulesby gets the snamp, hands it
too Graves right side across midfield and down to the
forty nine yard line for a five yard pickup.
Speaker 4 (01:49:59):
That's a little weep around the right side. He got
too much then.
Speaker 2 (01:50:02):
Yeah, it could be the last play. Kayden Harris on
the stop for Opalaika, down to six, down to five.
That's a final play of this third quarter, forty three
seven Bulldogs. As we head to the fourth. You're listening
to Bulldog football here on the kicker well back here
(01:50:27):
inside Bulldog Stadium as we get ready for the fourth
and final quarter, forty three to seven, and everybody's still
swagsurfing here as we get ready for the fourth quarter.
And it'll be third and short here as Goulesby will
go under center at midfield, just a couple of yards
to go for the first down at the Opalaka forty
nine yard line. Bulldog's leading forty three to seven. Here,
(01:50:50):
Goolesby gets the snap hands into Graves who runs right
side for the Florence first down and he gets to
the forty six and that's all they needed. Josh Davis
defensive tackle in there for the stop for the Bulldogs
and it'll be a Florence first down at the forty six.
Next week, Bulldogs again reminder on the road at the
(01:51:12):
Hoover met taking on the Hoover Buccaneers. So make your plays.
Bulldog fans need a big show in there in a
huge game for this Opahlanka team next week as we
can start making our preparations for that one for the
forty six, Gulsbi will throw it out. Two Grays broke
a tackle still on his feet down close to the
forty one yard line, picked up five yards. Braden Howard,
(01:51:37):
sophomore in there on the stop. Good to see these
young dogs getting a chance here in a playoff game.
You know they've been working hard all year and certainly
wanted to get their opportunity to get in.
Speaker 7 (01:51:49):
And got that whole second group in there. That's good
they able to get this playing time.
Speaker 2 (01:51:55):
I wanted to play a playoff game. It's a nice
stop in the back feel by the Bulldogs. They read
that one nicely as Gulesby hand that one off to
the tailback and he was greeted by a host of
dogs there, led by Caden Harris and Leakedrick Berts also
Josh Davis said, there on the stop, third and six
(01:52:16):
coming up here for Florence at the forty two yard
line of Opalaika, and the clock will continue to run
ten twenty six remaining forty three seven again our score
Opelika leading the Falcons play action. Gulsby rolls right, dumps
(01:52:38):
it out of the flats and it is caught. Had
a nice tackle there and around the forty yard line,
then swank on the stop as he brought down number
twenty two. Cooper Thomaston, you'll bring up fourth down. Looks
like Falcons will bring in the punting team here with
nine fifty five left engine number one heading out of
(01:52:59):
here too. It looks like fire truck left good. It
was really neat. Coach had the fire truck with the
big ladder there and they had the American flag over
the top of the score. Boy, they gonna try field
that this boys, This boy's good. Now he's made a bunch.
Now this is going to be from the forty seven
yard line, fifty.
Speaker 4 (01:53:23):
Fifty seven.
Speaker 2 (01:53:28):
It's be a sixty four yard or one fifty seven boy,
and he's got the leg and it is just short.
Speaker 4 (01:53:37):
That was a fifty seven yard field coad.
Speaker 2 (01:53:39):
Fifty seven yard field will jump fifty seven yard of
ten boy, And I tell you I was talking to
the crew there from Florence this week and they said
he is really good. He's made a forty six, forty
seven and a fifty two yard field goal so far
this season, fifty two being the longest. Tried to break
(01:54:01):
it there with that one, but unable to unable to
get enough leg on the end of that one. So
the Bulldogs offense will come back out clock continue into
wind here with nine o nine remaining.
Speaker 7 (01:54:14):
So in high school you get it at the twenty
if it's over, yeah, and if Hollide, you get it
where he tried it from.
Speaker 2 (01:54:21):
That's right, okay, Fuller young back in there at quarterback
and option play, they'll give it to the tailback.
Speaker 4 (01:54:31):
No, we didn't block anybody then, that was CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:54:35):
Pink on the carry, no gain on the play. We'll
be second down and ten, clock continuing to run eight
forty and a running clock forty three seven again. O
Palaika with the lead as we play here in the
fourth quarter, Central fifty six James Clemming fourteen fifty six
Auburn Bob Jones fourteen a clean sweep here, looks like
for Region two tonight Enterprise I know was leading big
(01:54:57):
last time we checked it against the against Austin up
in Decatur. Second out and ten Dogs with their on
twenty yard line. Fuller Young, We'll hand it to Pink.
Pink trying to run left side and CJ gets up
around the twenty three yard line, picks up three yards.
It'll be third down and seven coming up.
Speaker 4 (01:55:22):
Above here.
Speaker 2 (01:55:25):
We got old Sawyer Olid's in there playing right tackle
for the Bulldogs. So good to see the neighborhood well
represented here tonight. We had a touchdown for Jalen and
we got saw your playing tackle, So everybody happy. Out
(01:55:45):
of the shotgun is fuller Young, and a time out
gonna be called here by Opalaika trying to get things situated.
So we'll step aside take a time out as well.
Seven twenty seven here in the fourth quarter, opal like
a leading forty three seven over the Florence Falcons, and
we're back after this time out here on the kicker
(01:56:11):
or back here inside Bulldog Stadium. Forty three seven Dogs
with the lead, a timeout taking there on the play,
and oh Polaiko with a lot of number twos in
the ball game and dogs on a third and seven.
I think we want to make sure they get this
one right. Young, as in the shotgun formation, Jalen Nelson
(01:56:32):
is the running back. They'll get a hand off to
Nelson running left side. Jalen with some tough running up
close to the twenty nine yarn. Lie boy, he's really
close to the first down. They a yard short though,
I think.
Speaker 7 (01:56:41):
Right that sweet left around the outside. They give him
a first down.
Speaker 2 (01:56:48):
Only thirty short, No they did, They just kicked him
the first down. Oh, he got it to the thirty.
Speaker 4 (01:56:54):
That's good run Nelson.
Speaker 2 (01:56:55):
I really like him, really goodn't run there by Jalen.
So now and there's seven to play in the clock,
will continue to run. So matchups next week Auburn gonna
host Thompson, Ope, like will be at Hoover. I'm gonna
start to break down more of that is Jalen Nelson
again with the carry and a good good job, good
tough running to the thirty four yard line under six,
(01:57:18):
forty to go, second down and six coming up here
for Opal like a forty three to seven Ople like
a leading Florence Fuller. Young remains in at quarterback here
(01:57:38):
for the Bulldogs. Two white outs right single receiver to
the left side and hand off again goes to Jalen
Nelson and blown up there in the backfield, Jalen is
still able to pick up a couple of yards. It'll
be third and four coming up here for the Bulldogs.
Under six to play. And as the clock continues to
(01:58:01):
wind down and Eli Brogden little hobble there comes out
of the ball game. They'll have to get some substitutions
here on that offensive Wine, Corbin Fears and other sophomore
in there playing guard for the Bulldogs. Two white outs
right single receiver left. A third down and four coming
up here for the Bulldogs. Young out of the shotgun
(01:58:28):
and Young gets the snap. Young gonna tuck it run
left side. He's got the first down and more Fuller
got a block, ran into his blocker downfield and got
up to around the forty nine yard line, so fifteen
yard running there by Fuller Young and he gets enough
for the Lambert transferring storage first down five twelve remaining.
Speaker 4 (01:58:48):
As a great play fake by him and the cooper.
Speaker 2 (01:58:51):
And the clock continues to run. The yeh coach, because
I thought that one's blown up in the backfield under
five to play first and ten Bulldogs with their on
forty nine yard line. Young gets the snap hands of
the CJ pink straight up the middle and CJ gets
across the fifty down to the forty nine for two yards.
Clock continues to run for forty six remaining. Here in
(01:59:13):
this fall game, OPA like again leading big over Florence
forty three seven. Dogs had a forty three nothing lead
or forty to nothing lead at half. Only scoring for
the Bulldogs was a forty four yard field goal by
Johnny Cecina, a pick six for Florence. Here in the
second half, Bulldogs just across midfield at the Florence forty
(01:59:36):
nine yard line. Second down and eight, Young straight up
the middle again to Jalen Nelson and he lost a
yard back to the all right at the line of
original line of scrimmage. All right at the line of
scrimmage at the forty nine two white outs to the
(02:00:04):
right side, send a receiver to the left side for
the Bulldogs. Third and eight. Young gets the snap and
Young pulls it again. Young trying to get the runner
into the outside. A flag comes in and Young gonna
be wrapped up back around the forty seven yard line.
Speaker 4 (02:00:19):
Got a holding penalty.
Speaker 2 (02:00:22):
Picked up two yards, but looks like it may be
a hold against the Dogs. I think you made a
climb that one and bring up fourth down. Yep, white
hat looks over and I think they got the decline
(02:00:45):
is to climb and fourth down, fourth down and the
Bulldogs will send down the punting team. Clock has yet
to stop. Running clock here in the fourth and down
to three oh three and continuing to run.
Speaker 4 (02:00:58):
Campden Riley.
Speaker 7 (02:01:01):
Doing all these deep snaps for the Dogs tonight on
putts and extra points field goals that have really done
an outstanding job this year. Ralely remember Rayley, Yeah, Dad Guming,
I'm sorry, you'll get it right second round.
Speaker 4 (02:01:17):
They wrote it wrong on my paper high.
Speaker 2 (02:01:19):
Boot and it of bounds taking a taking a Florence
bounce back to close to the thirty of the twenty
nine is where it'll be down down two thirty to
go here in the ball game on the roll, so
the Falcons offense will come out and the Bulldogs defense
(02:01:41):
will see lots of fresh bodies here on the defensive
side for Plaika.
Speaker 7 (02:01:45):
All our JV guys get your bags ready to pack up.
And go to Hoover Bulldog fans.
Speaker 2 (02:01:54):
Yes, sir, coach, we love a good road trip. And Sir,
I'm gonna tell Mac we're leaving at eight in the
more and in Friday next week we're gonna go to
the gallery and do some shopping for Christmas. We'll get
we'll come to you one second first and ten play here,
play action throws here near side, it is hauled in
and caught thirty five yard line up to the thirty
(02:02:15):
eight macuratus and Christmas shopping.
Speaker 11 (02:02:18):
Uh, And we'll do that probably online.
Speaker 9 (02:02:20):
But I got an explanation for Pops Van because I
know it's happened about two or three or four or
five games, but I've just forgotten to tell you. He
goes with Camden Riley because his granddaughter's name is Camden Riley,
my cracket.
Speaker 11 (02:02:34):
So that's why he goves Camden Riley.
Speaker 4 (02:02:36):
Oh did you hear that?
Speaker 2 (02:02:37):
I guess so well, there's a rhyme for a reason,
I guess, all right. From the thirty eight yard line,
a handoff inside, good run there by Carter Graves as
he carries it up to the forty six for a
first down for the Florence Falcons. It'll be under a
minute to go. Only a couple more plays coming up
(02:02:59):
here in the ball game for Florence, and they'll be boy,
I get a long road trip back to Florence. Yep,
play action goals by the quarterback flushed out of the pocket,
rolls to the left, now steps up, scrambles around, comes
back here near side. Now we'll run and get pushed
out of bounds at around the open like a forty
(02:03:22):
eight yard line. A lot of running around and picked
up close to five yards, and it will be a
second down and four play under twenty four. See if
Florence wants to run one more play here, and they
may be. I think they will run one more play.
(02:03:48):
Goals be out of the shot gun, gets the snap,
fumble the football in oplel likea we'll come up with
it here at the end of the game. No, what
is that we're covering by recovered by the running back Florence.
Speaker 3 (02:04:01):
So that's it for this one here from Bulldogs Stadium,
Round one.
Speaker 2 (02:04:08):
Check the box and move on. The Bulldogs will winner
forty three to seven. They took control of this one
early and they never looked back. They had a forty
to nothing lead in halftime and running clock here in
the fourth quarter. Bulldogs win at forty three to seven
over Florence Again. Next week, Opolaka packing their bags and
heading up to eighty to the Hoover met to take
(02:04:29):
on the Hoover Buccaneers, and that should be a doozy.
We'll have postgame comments and a visit with coach Brian
Moore as we continue here with our postgame show which
is coming up on the way next. You're listening to
Bulldog football here on the kicker again. Our final score
here from Bulldog Stadium forty three seven, A lot more
coming up on the way next here on the Kicker Well,
(02:04:53):
the Bulldogs will advance on in the seven A State
playofso move on to round two with a forty three
seven win over the Florence Falcons here in round one
from Bulldog Stadium. Van Riggs alongside coach Bence McCracken mac
mccrack and our signline reporter Tonight and Jason Lee, our
spoder will have coach Brian Moore joining us here in
the booth momentarily, but an exciting win tonight here inside
(02:05:15):
Bulldog Stadium, and the fireworks started early for this Bulldog team.
As a roared out final. I mean the halftime score
of forty to nothing. Coach, when you head into the
locker room, it's been a while since we've had a
first half like that.
Speaker 7 (02:05:28):
And if you look at what they had total offense
in the first half minus twenty three yards, that is
just an incredible defense by our guys. And of course
we had almost two hundred yards of total offense in
the first half and six seven touchdowns whatever. We had
tremendous first half, and I think the second half we didn't.
Speaker 4 (02:05:52):
You know, we got to play a lot of people tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:05:54):
Van syffocating defense too. You mentioned the coach. I mean
we were in the backfield I don't know two or
three times, maybe more than that when when the ball
was handed.
Speaker 4 (02:06:02):
Off, and I'm telling you that block punt.
Speaker 7 (02:06:05):
I'm just like, you know, when it's an eighty percent
chance in a game that if you block a punch,
you win the game. Because of that total momentum that happened.
So h that was tremendous and we just played really,
really good in the first half. Our quarterback is nine
(02:06:26):
for nine throwing the ball.
Speaker 2 (02:06:27):
I mean, you can't feat that now in the starting
field position. For Florence in that game thirteen fourteen and
eighteen yard line. That's where they started their first three drives.
And you really set the tone when you had you
had a punt blocked in one of those in open
like I settle for a field goal at one point
in one of those situations. I know, those are the
things coach Brian Moore is going to go back and
look at it and go, we can't kick a field
(02:06:47):
goal when we get the ball on the you know,
thirteen yard line and start to start to drive. But
those are the little things that he'll go back and
you know, pull, you know.
Speaker 4 (02:06:56):
And between Beasley and are the boy all right? Kicking off?
Speaker 7 (02:07:02):
That we held them back inside their on twenty five
yard line on every kick man, every one, and hey
didn't do that against Carver, didn't, couldn't didn't do it.
And I tell you what, our kickoff team, I think
they're a great bunch. I think they really really as
we go along, I think I think Scena and Beasley,
(02:07:27):
if we can keep them backed up inside the twenty five,
it's gonna be hard for teams to move the ball
on us.
Speaker 4 (02:07:36):
I really believe that.
Speaker 2 (02:07:37):
Oh yeah, big weapons down the stretch for sure, well
forty three seven our final score. We are in the
postgame show, and certainly stay with us because we've got
a lot to get to. A postgame show presented by
Jeff Coach Trent Funeral Home. A little bit later on,
Coach Brian Moore is going to join us up here
in the booth with a postgame visible. We'll have more
and take a look at some of the game stats
and a lot more conversation about this first round win
(02:07:58):
from the Bulldogs, and we come back and get open
like a win over Florence forty three seven. More of
the postgame show continues after this here on the kick

Pink ten carries for thirty seven yards. Good to see
CJ get in the mix. Jamari Miller, the leading receiver tonight,
had four catches for thirty three yards. All so, Jalen
Washington had one grab a five yard touchdown snag, Wes
(02:09:04):
Johnson with one grab for five yards, Jordan Waits had
a reception for seven yards, Blake Johnson a reception for
five yards, and Slade Clayton had one grab for nine yards.
And also can't leave out Julian Pritchet who had a
two point conversion snag in the game as well. And
team stats right now total yards Florence thirty two yards
(02:09:25):
total Tonight Opelakoa two hundred and fifty seven yards, one
hundred and ninety three rushing yards, sixty four passing yards
Florence thirty five rushing yards just minus three yards passing
for a thirteen through the air. As a team there
for Florence, both teams had one turnover. Both teams had
seven penalties. Opelikah three for three on Pats, Florence one

for one on Pats Opelikah. The possession win tonight twenty
seven minutes and one second Florence twenty minutes and twelve seconds.

show presented to you by Jeff Coach Trant Funeral Home.
A post game visit with coach Brian Moore coming up
on the way next. As we continue here on the
(02:10:07):
kicker Well, we welcome you back here on the post
game show. It is presented to you by Jeff Coach
Trant Funeral Home, a very happy Bulldog stadium. Tonight we
are at the Orthopedic Clinic Broadcast booth. Want to thank
Terry Rosenthal and the entire team at Orthopedic Clinic, East
(02:10:28):
Alabama's go to center for orthopedic care. Dogs win it tonight,
forty three to seven, Opelika dominating first half forty to
nothing lead at halftime a Johnny's as seen a field
goal and unfortunately an interception for a touchdown. They only
score for the Florence Falcons tonight, but Opelikah dominating. Showing
here inside Bulldog Stadium. Coach Brian Moore joins up with
us now in the booth. Coach thoughts on this one.
(02:10:50):
I know your team came out after a couple of
weeks off and got a fast start tonight.
Speaker 10 (02:10:54):
Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 5 (02:10:55):
I mean, we're really proud of the way that we
started a lot of short fields. You know, all those
keys to the game We've talked a ton about at
lunch and with our kids.
Speaker 10 (02:11:04):
We met those.
Speaker 5 (02:11:05):
We had a huge special teams game changer with the punt.
Jamail Griffin put blocked that punt. You know, we're going
to some tenth graders and he's going to be a
really good player. And really proud of him. I just
told him and said, man, next time, scoop and score
that thing. He fell on it at the one. I
think he was stumbling. But you know, just just proud
of our kids, proud of our defense, the way they
played upfront.
Speaker 10 (02:11:25):
Dominated.
Speaker 5 (02:11:25):
They had two runs early, one explosive Coach, I think
that was over ten and that was about it. It
really it sounds like negative yards passing, so really proud
of our defense.
Speaker 10 (02:11:36):
And then offensively we did some things good too. You know,
we're able to throw.
Speaker 5 (02:11:38):
Kobe threw a big touchdown to Jay Wash in the
back corner on a choice ball, and then you know
we tried to get Quiz another one, but you know,
I don't know all the touchdowns, but proud of the
kids and the way they played.
Speaker 10 (02:11:49):
And then you know, I do want to mention this too.
That's a class group from Florence.
Speaker 5 (02:11:53):
And and I'm proud also of the way our coaches
kind of took care of that team and sent them back,
you know, the right way.
Speaker 10 (02:11:58):
And you know, we ran the clock in the four quarter, and.
Speaker 5 (02:12:00):
You know, we could have scored more, but we didn't
want Blake and Calvin and some of those guys in
the ball game. And they're just too important to go
to Hoover and uh, you know as bad. You know,
coach McCracken can attest to this. When you go into
the locker room or in the field house, all your
coaches still want to play a couple drives. You know
I did that as a coordinator. I wanted my guys
to go back out there. I want to score more points.
(02:12:21):
But I said no, we're not doing that. We're gonna
We're gonna get our team healthy to Birmingham next Friday
and uh, you know and have our you know, put
our best foot forward.
Speaker 10 (02:12:29):
So but proud of us.
Speaker 5 (02:12:29):
Listen, you know, forty three to seven, uh don't happen
a lot in the playoffs and uh, just just again
proud of our team and first what seven eight playoff
win history it is, you know, just just proud of
the legacy that we've talked a lot about that about
making history and our and our our seniors are doing that.
Speaker 2 (02:12:47):
So proud of them and coach you know, this Risk
Region just showed how tough they were tonight with a
clean sweep, as we all kind of thought it might
happen like that. I mean, you got Auburn that really
took care of Bob Jones handed lye Central goes up
there still went playing right now sixty three fourteen in
that game, and Enterprise had a big lead at Austin.
So I mean, just showed the competition level and what
(02:13:07):
we've been playing against. And I know you've got to
tell the guys, hey, we got to turn it up
a night because we're about to play one of those
teams about like a Central and Olivern next Friday night.
Speaker 10 (02:13:16):
Yeah, there's no question.
Speaker 5 (02:13:17):
You know, we knew that this this matchup, me being
in the North for a couple of years, you know,
kind of you this matchup will be tough for that
for that region. You know, he got some good players
and great coaches and some friends of mine that are
in that area now and they do a great job
and h but this is a this is the best
region I've ever seen. I mean this region that we
have right now in the Birmingham regions right there too.
(02:13:39):
I mean, I'm sure they swept Mobile. I don't know,
but I know, you know, Vestavia beating mary g was
a was a huge win. But anyway, I just this
is a great region. The scott is ready for the
playoffs and uh you know, but next week. I've been
able to see Hoover. All my staff's been able to
see Hoover, and uh man, they look like us. I mean,
they look like Central. They look like all They've got
(02:14:00):
big long kids that can play, and great Q and
and uh you know everything you know, kickers and punters
and and they do all of it well.
Speaker 10 (02:14:08):
They play the field position game like we do. And uh,
they do a really.
Speaker 5 (02:14:11):
Good job, so it'll be a great atmosphere. The med
is a cool place to play, different place to play.
But I also liked that a lot of our coaches
have coached there before. We know what to expect and
again we've seen it firsthand. I think that does matter
in your comfort when you go on the road. So
we're excited about next week.
Speaker 2 (02:14:28):
It was funny story. I was talking to their radio
crew when we were getting them set up and everything,
and they were great, real friendly guys. We've been talking
to them in the week leading up and then some
Raburn fans and they came to here and say, home
on us, Where's where's malikad you know? And then we're
looking on the field and they go, oh, that's that's
him right there and I go, no, that's just Ki
like food. And they looked over there and he said
that that's him right there and I go, no, that's
that's Mary Smiley And he goes, how many of these
(02:14:49):
guys do you have?
Speaker 7 (02:14:50):
Then?
Speaker 2 (02:14:50):
Coach has got to be good to have these big
guys on defense, and boy, they dominated Coach McCracken. He
I think he called play by play on a couple
of them going whoa when they hit him in the backfield,
set the handoff point.
Speaker 5 (02:15:01):
Well and and you know, yes, I mean we're that's
God given. You know, we're thankful to have those guys
on our team. And they're great kids too, Like more
than anything, there's great people. You enjoy being around them
every day. I love the Mari and Malik and of
course Light and all those guys. Man and then uh,
you know, our our our second group is getting better
to Josh is making the place for us to fumble,
and then Money Thomas is playing really well, running really good.
(02:15:23):
But the thing I wanted to mention, I'm just really
proud of Cad McGee, our strength and conditioning coordinator, because
of the job he's doing right now, not only with
our our physical strength, but also our speed, Like we
ran better uh yesterday morning we test time and and
track miles prior and we were faster and we've been
all year And that's a testament to him. At the
end the bye week and us being fresh coming in
(02:15:44):
the spot, we look like a fresh team. In that
first quarter, we looked hungry and and you can tell
that our our kids still want to be together and
want to be connected, and you know, again, just just
excited for them. And like I said, I keep saying
the same thing, but they're making history and they're leaving
their mark on this program that's such a storied and
tradition rich program.
Speaker 2 (02:16:04):
Just proud of them, all right, Coach, I'll let you
get in just to get one more question for you though,
before I turned it over to coach here. Yeah, October fourth,
last time you've had a about a two hour road trip.
It'll be about the same to get to Hoover yep.
A little different though with the playoffs. So how do
you handle the road trip next week? Do do you
go up a little early? Do you try to find
a place for a walk through? How does that work?
Speaker 10 (02:16:23):
You know, I'm back and forth in ten years.
Speaker 5 (02:16:25):
I've done it a lot of different ways, had some
long road trips and felt like you needed to make
a day of it.
Speaker 6 (02:16:29):
You know.
Speaker 5 (02:16:29):
We've been to Mobile and been to different places that
are further obviously about twice as far. But for me,
it's about getting on that bus and getting there as
fast as possible.
Speaker 10 (02:16:38):
You know.
Speaker 5 (02:16:38):
I think sometimes the day can feel really long and
mentally fatiguing because you spend so much time in a
bus or in places that aren't you aren't comfortable.
Speaker 2 (02:16:47):
You don't want to go to the gallery, and I
don't want to go.
Speaker 10 (02:16:49):
To the galleria.
Speaker 5 (02:16:50):
No, I don't want to go and go to the
food corp anywhere. Like my wife who's up here, would
love to do all that. But and she'll probably make
a great day of it. I'm sure it'll be great,
a great day. Loves the food court, eat anything you
want in there. You know it is it was a borrow,
that was my that was my jam man. You and
I are about same age. That was my spot. But
(02:17:12):
now we'll go there quickly and uh we'll get to
the met and and start having our meetings. And you know,
of course we'll eat on the road, but what we'll
share lunch together here in the facility. I don't know
exactly what we'll do that there, but typically, I mean
we'll go through it like we did both and we
played really well that night, so you know, obviously I
didn't feel like we were fatigued from the trip. But again,
get in the bus, go there as quickly as you can,
(02:17:34):
and get off the bus and start your meetings. Like,
don't give yourself time, but I do think on the
road you need to get comfortable with your environment. And
so I'm I'm excited about planning that I have not
wrapped my head around it. But again it's an easy
place to get in and out, you know there. And
uh so we'll we'll certainly, you know, take a lot
of opinions on that with our staff and figure out
(02:17:55):
what everybody thinks is best.
Speaker 10 (02:17:56):
As far as travel.
Speaker 7 (02:17:58):
On Sundays after church at twelve thirty, this guy starts
special teams meetings with his coaches and watch his films.
I don't tell you something tonight I saw and you
can't even describe this. I don't know why this is
a block punt. A block punt is just absolute misery
(02:18:23):
for the team that gets the punt block because when
you got if you've got two teams that are close,
and as far as the scores go, the winner, the
winner that blocks the punt will usually win the game.
And that was that's your first one, man that I
fell out of the stead gum window.
Speaker 4 (02:18:44):
Man, that was incredible.
Speaker 7 (02:18:45):
And I want to tell you something that people in
the States don't know sliest stuff, but your kickoff guy
kicked off. You put the first thing in the zone.
And the second one should have been called in the
zone because he had his foot back there.
Speaker 4 (02:19:00):
But he did not.
Speaker 7 (02:19:02):
He got to the twenty three, and then one of
them was at the eleven, and one of them was
what was at the nineteen, And I'm going to tell
you what we flew down there, and that was the
they kicked. All of them kicked to the kid that
we didn't want to kick it too. But your kickoff
team was remarkable. I think in the first half that
(02:19:25):
is what really really doomed them, because after that happened
and they got the ball at the twenty, everything went
backwards for him.
Speaker 4 (02:19:34):
You know, our defense just played great and rushed him.
Speaker 7 (02:19:37):
And anyway, the kicking game, the kicking game with your
kickoff team was so important. And for you to have
a team start from their own twenty or twenty five,
that's a twenty percent chance to score, a twenty five
percent chance to score.
Speaker 4 (02:19:57):
And you in great shape and y'all keep working on that.
Speaker 7 (02:20:00):
And and one of your boys, I don't know which
one it was, told me to give my shout out tonight,
so before the game, so a little more wherever you are.
Speaker 2 (02:20:10):
That's definitely Baker yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:20:12):
If it had been back here down there sitting in
the chair.
Speaker 6 (02:20:14):
Well.
Speaker 2 (02:20:15):
I talked to Baker at Moe's Wednesday and I said, hey, now,
look we've got we've got coach Burdette who's having to
run the footballs out night because you guys are not Hey,
that's not true. That's not true, he said. He said,
can you give me a shout out? Said, I gotta
give you a shout out when you run the ball
on the field. You know, we got to do something,
you know.
Speaker 5 (02:20:34):
But yeah, well that guy anyway, Oh my gosh, well
he is. He's something else. But yeah, coach, I'm with you.
The kickoff is is was unbelievable. Good to see Johnny
Cscina tonight. Uh get off really well, thankfully. Oh my gosh, Johnny.
Because here's the thing. When Johnny doesn't kick it in
the end zone, it's so high.
Speaker 4 (02:20:54):
It is high.
Speaker 2 (02:20:55):
I looked at it. Boy, it is really high.
Speaker 5 (02:20:57):
Yes, and it's something else. I'm watching the kid right now.
I want you to get what they got on right here.
So what we did this is really cool. You know,
I'm getting into the science stuff of it. But they
have the catapult system on their chest right now and
we're we're tracking heart rate and we're tracking speed, and
so you could see the kids even in pregame taking
off and running to try to get to a maximum speed.
(02:21:18):
We don't have all that data Monday. I'm just I'm
really excited about again what Cave McGee's doing, uh for
our kids, because he's created an excitement even even when
you know, guys like in the second half weren't playing
a whole lot. I saw guys coming out of the
jog the warm up and sprinting dead sprint twenty yards
to get their miles per hour up. What you're doing
is you're you're emphasizing these things to make sure that
(02:21:40):
we stay fast and strong through this year. And it's
and it's paying off. It's paying off, and it's going
to pay off through the stretch too. It's just a
game changer, I think for us if.
Speaker 7 (02:21:48):
US four were to go in there, I sit over
here early and watch them stretching exercise as he.
Speaker 2 (02:21:54):
Does to put the heart rate monitor on.
Speaker 4 (02:21:56):
Coach, just don't let him stretch me because you kill me.
Speaker 2 (02:22:02):
Hey, I will say this. We have to have another
home game here at Bulldog Stadium because we have a
great idea. Every time Blake scores, we're playing hammer time.
Speaker 10 (02:22:09):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (02:22:10):
I love it.
Speaker 10 (02:22:11):
Trademark Mac McCracken, I think.
Speaker 2 (02:22:13):
Yes, I mean, how did we not how did we
not have that mac lined up before?
Speaker 6 (02:22:16):
Now?
Speaker 4 (02:22:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (02:22:17):
I know it just well when he got there and
we were all talking about, you know, hey, call me
the hammer, and I was like it was hammer time
and I was like yeah, yeah, he.
Speaker 2 (02:22:25):
Told Brad and he couldn't cue it up in time.
Speaker 10 (02:22:27):
You know, that was a light bull moment for you exactly.
Speaker 9 (02:22:29):
Hey, I wanted to say this to you though off
their student athletes, right besides this I was before the game.
I got chill bumps all over me because I know
this community, this OPA Lauka City school system.
Speaker 11 (02:22:44):
And when I saw those kids on.
Speaker 9 (02:22:46):
That teacher appreciation write those letters, that's something that hits
home to these teachers who work their tails off. But
that just shows you how important a teacher is in
a child's life. Because you can point something out.
Speaker 4 (02:23:01):
I can, Dad, can Van? Can you?
Speaker 2 (02:23:04):
They all hold a.
Speaker 9 (02:23:05):
Special place in your heart that you still remember. She
made an impact, He made an impact. So I just
want to command you for bringing your boys out like
that and just letting this crowd and letting you know,
Dad and Van all them comment on it, and it
was a great, great night to see that before this
ball game.
Speaker 5 (02:23:21):
Well, you know, we really need to toss it to
Lindsay at this point. Honestly because of credit. We've always
done this together, you know, We've always kind of gone about,
you know, putting you know, these teachers with our students
because gratitude is such an important thing, you know, when
it can be refreshing, you know, because look, man, they're
managing thirty kids, twenty five kids in a classroom and
(02:23:43):
Jason those shaking his head. I taught history for a
long time too. Standing in that classroom with them, it
gets you know, you wonder sometimes what am I doing?
You know, every day I'm managing these guys and trying
to teach them something they don't care a whole lot
about sometimes, but just that being thankful, you know, for them,
it's sort of is refreshing, and he kind of you know,
takes these teachers back to the reason that they did
(02:24:05):
it in the first place.
Speaker 10 (02:24:06):
And so Lindsay and I have always done that and uh,
just proud of our kids. They put a lot into that.
Speaker 5 (02:24:11):
You know to think those teachers and uh, I thought
it was a great day and a great night to
recognize them.
Speaker 4 (02:24:17):
All.
Speaker 2 (02:24:17):
Right, next week, Coach, I know we'll have your Thursday lunch,
Bulldog Bulldog Lunch, which will be the three sixteen center
First Baptist Church of Placao. We need a sellout for
for next week's lunch. I know at at at First Baptist.
Speaker 5 (02:24:31):
Church, Pastor Myers says, we can hold like three hundred
and eighty people in there, So let's let's let's give
it a try.
Speaker 10 (02:24:36):
That would be great. But next week, here's what we're
gonna do.
Speaker 5 (02:24:38):
We're gonna bring our linebackers and so we're gonna bring
Tyler and ty and aj and uh Leakedrick and k two.
We'll bring those guys over and bring coach Massey. Coach
MASSI hadn't been with us in the fall. I don't
think he was with us in the spring, So I'm
excited about that as well.
Speaker 2 (02:24:52):
And then also tickets for Hoover. I know they'll go
and sell next week visiting tickets just like home tickets,
So gonna sell it. Go fan, get those and get
them early and get out. I know it's a little
odd seating when you get the Hoover because the visiting
section the bleachers are not not a whole lot there,
and I guess you could sit in the round horseshoe
area there at the Hoover met too, but I know
most people probably want to get over there in the field.
Speaker 5 (02:25:13):
I would suggest to our people to park on the
lower parking lot. That's where I part last night. You
go right into a gate right there, there's a visitors gate.
You can go in and kind of walk in behind
the visiting bleachers. You'll see the grand stand kind of,
you know, because of the baseball field and so you
kind of see the grand stand, but you can, but
we need to pack that out. It is a small
I mean, it's a small setup now, but you can
(02:25:36):
sit there in zone. But it's a different venue. It's
different for our coordinators kind of sitting kind of a
way from the field. But it's an outstanding Obviously, the
turf or the grass is amazing, you know with it
being where they play the SEC Championship and all that stuff.
But it's a great place to play. And we're excited
about getting another shot to go to Hoover because it's
been since twenty twelve, I believe, and went over there
(02:25:59):
and didn't play very well. I can vividly remember sitting
in that box and just being so frustrated, and so
I'm eager to get back in that game and have
another shot at these guys.
Speaker 2 (02:26:08):
All right, We'll have more on the road trip of
course to Hoover next week on the Brian Moore Show.
Look for that dropping Wednesday next week and of course
hopefully you can see everybody out Thursday at the lunch
at a First Baptist Church, Open like a coach. Congratulations
on the WEDDD and look forward to seeing you next week.
Speaker 10 (02:26:21):
Thank you Van, Thanks coach.
Speaker 2 (02:26:23):
All right, that's coach. Brian Moore will continue more of
