Day and Riggs when welcome you to the Hoover Matt
Van Riggs longside coach Vince McCracken Mac McCracken, rom and
are sidelines tonight and we've got Jason Lee helping us
with our production tonight. Jeremy Till will be our engineer
as we come to the second round of seven eighth
State Playoffs. A lot of attention this week, of course,
(00:55):
has been given to the off the field issues, which
we'll address for those that may not have any idea
or they have been living under a rock this week.
Coach Brian Moore not in attendance tonight for the Opalika
Bulldogs opal like a City Schools and coach Brian Moore
releasing or City Schools releasing a statement saying coach Brian
Moore respects the standards set by the Alabama High School
Athletic Association. While observing Hoover High School's playoff game, Coach
(01:17):
More used a media pass to access field and take notes.
Though he had no ill intent. Coach More recognizes this
was an error in judgment and accepts the suspension. So
tonight Jamie fergus will the interim coach. We've talked to
a lot with him now on the field about how
he will manage this game. And Coach Ferguson of course
handles the special teams, but he'll kind of be handling
the game decisions as he is not an eight tent
(01:40):
on offense or defense tonight. Of course, offense is always
ran by J. D. Atkins who calls the plays. No
change there ad a massive The defensive coordinator calls the defense.
So the work had been put in this week. Bulldogs
are ready Coach McCracken joining up with us coach. I
know these players have rallied around the fact that their
coach is not here. They want to win a game
for him and hopefully playing that third round next week,
(02:00):
which in seven A will be the semi finals.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Kyle, hard to believe.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I'm so nervous.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
I can if you look across the field out there,
there's the field of dreams headed the water's all the
cars and everything coming in.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
And we gonna have a pint house tonight, Van Rising.
This is gonna be one battle.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
If I've ever seen a battle, this is gonna be
it tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
And that he won't have we won't have our head
coach on the.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
Field, but he has groomed these coaches to coach his
team up and I have no doubt that they're gonna
play the hearts out and hopefully we can pull out
a victory.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
This is gonna be a big, big game.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
We got everybody healthy finally after that Carver game, and
so let's look forward to round two and get to
the semifinals.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Absolutely, this will be only the fourth time in school
history Opelaika has met Hoover on the field. There was
a home and away series one in Opelika and won
at Hoover, and then one of course, in the state
championship game back in twenty twelve. All three games won
by the Hoover Buckers, and all three games won pretty handily.
You go back to the first meeting in twenty twelve,
it was a thirty to seven win for Hoover, and
(03:07):
then that state championship game of thirty one nothing shutout,
and then the return trip in twenty thirteen was a
twenty nine seven win. On a Thursday night at Bulldog Stadium,
Dogs Hope can pick they can pick up the first
win against the Hoover Bucks tonight in front of a
what will be a capacity crowd here at the Hoover
mel We did get some news earlier in this game, actually,
as we got here tonight, one of the star players
(03:28):
for Hoover will be out tonight. That is Jonah Winston,
who is the brother of Jameis Winston, a star wide
receiver also a quarterback in some short yarded situations, even
in some wildcat packages, so he will not play tonight,
banged up from the Fair Hope game. We come back, though,
We're gonna hear from offensive coordinator j. D Atkins first,
and then after that we'll hear from defensive coordinator for
(03:48):
the open like a Bulldog's Adam Massey. As we continue
with our pregame show. It's presented by him Frederick Dean
Funeral Home Here on ninety seven point seven Kicker FM.
Here at Hoover getting ready for second round action between
Opalaika and Hoover. We're gonna talk coordinators here in the
(04:10):
pregame show. We got j D Atkins on the offensive side.
We were talking to coach Ada Massey coming up. But
first up, JD talked about your offense and you know,
last week had really good starting field position against Florence.
Didn't really have to do a whole lot thanks to
the coach Massy's defense.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
No doubt.
Speaker 6 (04:24):
It makes it incredibly easy for us when the defense
is playing like they do. On top of that, our
special teams units have been fantastic all year long. We
have dominated field position all year long, which really makes
it favorable for us to start drives down there or
in midfield pretty much.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
All game long.
Speaker 6 (04:42):
I don't know at the average field position number, but
it's got to be pretty incredible, which is really nice
for us. Kind of takes the pressure off and kind
of just lets us play free early.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yeah, last week it was the ground game the big
guys again. Blake Johnson in short yarded situation, he didn't
have a whole lot of carries, but they were in
the goal line situation. Calvin got in, got a few
carries last week, but it was some of your younger
guys that got in, like c J. Pink and Nelson
and some of those guys that really carried the ball
for you down the stretch.
Speaker 6 (05:07):
Yeah, really excited about that young group. We've put a
lot of emphasis on them over the last few months.
And you know, like you mentioned, CJ. Pink and Jalen
Nelson are two sophomore backs for us that have really
really really bright futures. Both incredible athletes, both great vision,
great runners of the football, and you know, coach Landers
does such an outstanding job of developing those guys and
pushing them and holding them accountable. And like you said,
(05:29):
it was good to get Calvin back and get him going,
and then also on top of that, you know, keep
Blake with his touches and keep him rolling as well,
keep him fresh. Really proud of the job our box
stead up front. You know, Coach flem and Coach Taylor,
coach Efferson, they do a great job with that group,
and we've been able to lean on them all year
long and then continuing to see the development of Kobe
(05:51):
Key and kind of as he flips it around and
gets touches to some of our perimeter guys doing a
really good job with that group as well.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Yeah, I know down the stretch, that's one of those
areas is they have the of the offense. I know
that you really want to see take that next level
and they have to be tonight against the SEVERER team
going through the air.
Speaker 6 (06:07):
Yes, sir, we're we're really excited about about the challenge now.
You know, it's a great, great defense with Hoover, a
lot a lot of good players, a good coaching staff, uh,
and a great high school football environment at the met.
Really excited to see our guys perform. You know, it's
those secret Jamori Miller is a heck of a football
player and he'll have his touches in his role, but
you know, looking for other guys to step up as well.
(06:28):
You know, Brady Jones always plays a massive role for US.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
UH.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
The youngster Ques Johnson plays a big role for US.
Speaker 6 (06:34):
Jalen Washington, Drew Gagliano, Bennett Young is back healthy and
hoping to see him tonight as well, so really excited
to see that group and what they're able to do.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Yeah, I know when this offense is going really good,
I know it's booking. One big reasons Calvin Hugle is
having a good game run of the football. I know
he's going to be a key tonight to try to
win that line of scrimmage battle.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
No doubt.
Speaker 6 (06:53):
It's no secret that that he's a big, big part
of this offense and when he's on and when he's
playing well, we tend to move the ball well. You know,
he had really big games early in the year with
Auburn especially, kind of had a big breakout night that night,
and he's had some quieter nights later in the year,
but the work has still been there. The last two
(07:13):
or three weeks for him have been really good practice
weeks where he's been really bought in and pushing himself
and I think I think I'm excited and ready to
see him play tonight and see you know what he
brings back to the table.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
Hoping for a big night from him as well.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Talking with the offense coordinator j d ak Ands, JD
against the Hoover defense tonight to win this game, your
offense has to do.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
What if there's a big key there for you.
Speaker 6 (07:34):
Yeah, it's kind of like we started this deal with
is you know how good our our defense and our
special teams are.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
And it's been no secret. We've talked about it all
year long.
Speaker 6 (07:42):
Kind of the recipe for success here for us is
staying on the field, controlling the football.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
And being the more physical team.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
You know, we set out our our plan to win
and we talk about things like third down conversions, and
we talk about things like controlling field position and putting
the nail on the coffin and doing those type of things.
You know, we're gonna Our recipe for success has been
the same and it always will be the same, you
know this year with this team, which is we're gonna
lean on our big guys. We're gonna try to control
the football, keep our defense fresh, win field position, you know,
(08:12):
play into their hands, play really good, complimentary football, and
we're gonna take our shots and look for explosives when
they're there and try to put us in a good
position at the end of the football game.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Offense coordinator J D Atkins, we come back, we'll talk
with Opla like a defensive coordinator. Adam Massey and talk
a little bit about the Hoover offense and the Opelaca defense.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
We come back here on the Kicker.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
We welcome back here on the pregame show as we
get ready for Oplike take it on Hoover in the
second round of the seven eight state playoffs. Now we're
talking defensive side for opal Like and defensive coordinator out
of MASSI joining up with us and coach. I know
this offense gets a lot of praise for Hoover, the
way they can move the football up and down the
(08:51):
field in multiple different ways because they've got that rpo game.
They can run, they can pass, and then you know
they can they can kind of change things up on
the fly. What have you seen from them on film? Man?
Speaker 7 (09:00):
They are very talented offensively. A quarterback does an incredible job.
He's a big kid that runs the football.
Speaker 5 (09:09):
Well.
Speaker 7 (09:10):
Uh there they got three really talented backs. Uh. Receiver wise,
they got some you know, they got the Winston kid,
very dynamic kid, and they got some big kids. They
got size out there, and so uh they've been able
to to, you know, to put up a lot of
points and move the football and try to control the card.
Very talented up front as well, and so, uh man,
(09:33):
it'll be a great challenge for us tonight.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
I may be off just watching them a little bit.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
They kind of remind me of a Central type team
the way they run their offense a little bit. Is
that kind of a fair comparison.
Speaker 7 (09:43):
Yeah, they are. They weren't a lot more gap scheme
run stuff than Central does, but uh, you know, across
the board they will they turn it loose with a
quarterback and give them a lot of freedom, uh in
their offense, and so uh there's some similarities on that's
kind of a tren you see more and more throughout
high school football. But yeah, they are, you know, just
(10:04):
very dynamic and talented as as Central is.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Absolutely, when I noticed one thing is how big they
are on the offensive line. They've got several over three
hundred pounders up there on the front, and I know,
hope all I it's got the big guys on the
defensive side. So maybe we're in the trenches tonight.
Speaker 7 (10:19):
Hey, absolutely, this is gonna be It's gonna be a
good one. It's gonna be a ball game that you
know at this level. You know, at seven A in
second round, there's I mean, this is gonna be wars
from here on out, and so you know, the ball
game is gonna definitely be one in the trenches on
both sides. And so that's an emphasis for us every week.
(10:40):
I know it's gonna be emphasis for those guys as
well on that side. But man, we look forward to
the challenge absolutely.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
I know they can come.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
You might have your hands full tonight kind of strategic
trying to figure out what to do and when to
do it against an RPO type team, because if you
bring too many then they can throw the pass over
the top, and if you don't then sit back they
can run and bust one. I know, it's kind of
difficult challenge for you.
Speaker 7 (11:02):
Oh absolutely, And we do a good job of mixing
it up. But at the end of the day, I mean,
we are a pressure a defense. I mean, it's who
we are, it's who we're gonna be, and so we
definitely mix it up and you know, try to give
as many different looks as we can for a quarterback,
whether it's send a three man look or four man.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
You know look.
Speaker 7 (11:23):
And so I mean that's the key to the defensive
side of the ball with the way officers are today,
is you got to be multiple. You got to be
able to give them some different looks. You gotta be
a play some man gotta be play some z own
and so we'll mix it up for sure.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Well, coach, good luck to I appreciate the visitors always
absolutely Coach Adam Nscy, defensive coordinator for they open like
a Bulldogs and we come back. We'll continue with our
pre game show after this time out. You're listening to
Bulldog football here on the kick.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
You were listening to Opelikah High School football here on
ninety seven point seven kicker efem. Now it's time for
Coach Vince mccrackens Keys to the Game, presented by Glenn Smiths,
Chevrolet GMC and Opelika Get ready to smile.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Back here inside the Hoover met It is time for
Coach McCracken's Keys to the game. These were laid out
earlier this week as goals from the football team coach
that they said they've got to do these things in
order to win survey.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
And and these are.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Very similar to the ones I gave you last week.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
First thing, we are going to play one play at
a time and one game at a time. Now, everybody
knows what happens when this game ends and the next
game starts. We don't care anything about that. We care
about playing this game. One play in one game. We've
got to have a little luck tonight. It's always got
to be a little luck. You gotta have a little
(13:12):
luck to win these things, especially when two good teams
are playing.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
All right.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Now, look, there are five or six big plays that
are gonna be in this game. Runs over fifteen passes
over runs over ten passes over fifteen. Now, Coach Riggs
and I, when the game's over, I'm gonna add up
all the big plays, and whoever's got most of those
big plays is probably gonna win the game. So that
goes back to us playing great defense. We gotta go
(13:39):
on third downs when we have the ball. We have
to make third down conversions. When we don't have the ball,
we have to stop them on third down and get
the ball back.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
It's simple as that play. Take away from Hoovery.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
They've got a really good offense, but we've got a
really good defense. And when this thing comes back down
to the fourth quarter, hopefully our defense is going to
be able to beat their offense. We cannot turn the
ball over, no turnovers at all.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
None.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
And then I want to finish by saying, you know,
I talked to the boys a little bit this week
about the five minutes in the game. The first five
minutes of the game, last five of the half, first
five of the third quarter, last five of the game.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
You people pay attention to that.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
Whoever wins that or whoever clocks more minutes or scores
more points during those times, which are the crucial times
in a game. And then I want to finish up
basically by saying, this football team, they don't have their
head coach tonight, but I guarantee you something. They're gonna
(14:49):
play their hearts out and try the best of their
ability to get us to the semi finals.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
And I really really think think that we can do it.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Remember the as the last thing I want to tell you.
We must run the ball and not let them run
the ball. That's really simple. If we do those things
and not turn the ball over, we'll have a good
chance to win this game.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Let's go dogs, all right. Coach Spence McCracken's Keys to
the Gamers in It each week by Glensmith Chevy gmcing Opelaika.
Get ready to smile. We are under ten minutes to
go as we get ready for kickoff here from Hoover
tonight at the Hoover met between the Hoover Metz or
the Hoover Mits, the Hoover Bucks and your Opalaikah Bulldogs.
We'll take quick time out, come back with more from
(15:39):
the met right after this time out. You're listening to
Bulldog football here on the kicker. Welcome back here at
the Hoover Man getting ready for our coin toss. Before
we get there, let's past ten seconds for station identification.
Speaker 8 (15:59):
Kill me you kick it are Auburn opalaika is League
County's Best Country ninety seven point seven kicker FN and
iHeart country station.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
All right, just about time for our coin toss tonight.
And our captains for the Bulldogs tonight Blake Johnson, Brody Jones,
Malik Altree and Carson mall S. And before we head down,
both teams exchanging handshakes, all black tonight for Hoover with
the orange numbers, and we'll head down as the white
hat gives the signals.
Speaker 9 (16:28):
That's of tails, that's the tails and that's a head
you got first choice.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
I want you to call it.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
We're not tossing in the air to We're called tail
tells it is you. We defer, defer and serve, all right,
So up like a wins the toss and they defer
to the second half. So they're gonna let Hoover get
the football first. Our coin toss brought you by Rentals Outdoors.
Rentals Outdoors locally on it own Hunting, fishing and Archery
(16:57):
Outdoors store to take care of all your outdoor sporting needs.
Rentals Outdoors is off Geneva Street in Opalika. Kick off
of this big one coming up here from the Hoover
Met that's coming up on the way next. You're listening
to Bulldog football here on the kicker. Welcome back here
(17:17):
to the Hoover Met. Bulldogs have taken the field Opelika,
coming out of the black pants tonight, white jerseys and
black numbers outlined in a red and as we mentioned earlier,
Hoover in the all black tonight black pants, black jerseys,
orange numbers, black hats with the traditional Bunks logo on
each side. As we're just a couple of minutes away
from kicking this one off tonight, TI for gain Conditions
(17:37):
brought to you by First Baptist Church, Opelaika proud to
support Opelaka schools. If you can't make it to church,
you can listen to the entire worship service every Sunday
eleven am right here on the kicker fifty four right
now as we get ready, a clear night for football.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Boy.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
You couldn't ask for better weather last night. I know,
I watched some of the AISA games. Lot of do
and lot of fog all over the field. Shouldn't have
that tonight. It's been a crystal clear day and a
dry field here, which is a natural turf field here
inside the Hoover met so it should be a good
playing surface tonight. And I was really surprised coach walking
around on that field earlier. You even was questioning whether
(18:11):
or not it was artificial or not. It is a
really nice playing surface. As we walked around there on
the field before the game. Oh man, fuck, we've got
any wind at all? Do we? It has been blowing
a little bit, but at the moment it is still.
But every once in a while we'll catch one of
those cool evening breezes kind of swirl around here at
the Hoover met But hopefully that won't play into too
much of a factor, at least when the Bulldogs are
(18:31):
getting ready to kick. As we see coming out on
the field, the kicking team for the Bulldogs let out
by Reese Beasley who will kick it off tonight. Johnny
Sassina did return to action last week, but Reese has
been the go to guy since Johnny went down before
the Auburn game.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
In warm ups.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
And as we mentioned, a big piece of this offense
out for Hoover tonight, as Jonah Winston were reported, is
not going to dress out tonight's star wide receiver for
the buck. So we'll see just early coach, how this
opal like a defense can handle this Hoover offense, which
I know has been a lot of topic of how
these two will pair up tonight.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
Well, Van, this kickoff, these kickoffs is gonna be big tonight.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
I think God Oh Black is.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
Gonna try to kick it deep, get down there and
cover it.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Let's see if we can do a good job with it.
All right, we're just about ready to go twelve on
the clock here. Bulldogs will kick from right to left.
They'll kick towards the end zone that has the bleachers,
which would be the first base side here. At the
Hoover meta, we'll be returnable by the Bucks. Fielded at
the five yard line, brought across the ten, cut at
the fifteen, setting up a pretty good return hitting US sidelines,
(19:33):
and finally brought down around the thirty four yard line
on the return before Hoover. Well was number two and
that was Jamar Moultrie on the return there. And so
the Bucks are gonna have a pretty good field position
and quite kick that deep enough. We got TJ.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
Thomas, Lightfoot of friends, Smiley up front out on, Tyler
Moore and ty Hudson.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
At the backers. I'll give you the other ones later.
All right, starting field position will be the thirty three
yard line here for the Bucks, says we are underwigh
and ready to go. Mac Beeson's the quarterback, sixty to
one hundred and eighty nine pounder. It'll be a given
left side and a nice stop there on The stop
was Court Ingram, and I believe that was JR. Moseley
(20:17):
on the carry for whover it was. And no gain
on the play second down and ten.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
All right, Court Ingram and Devin Dixon at the corners,
costing Marston strong safety Pitts keep you and king.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
At the safeties. Beson out of the shotgun. Now he'll
shift and wildcat look here and they'll go left side
trying to run and not much there again. A good
job around the thirty five yard line, and that was
Tyler Moore the linebacker coming in and making the stop.
Great play by the Dogs.
Speaker 5 (20:45):
Jr.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
Moseley, great pursuit.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
On that suite. Great pursuit all right up to the
thirty six yard line.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Oh, here's your first third down man, third down conversion.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
Let's hold them. It'll be third down and at seven
here for the Bucks again from their own thirty six
yard line. They'll empty the backfield Beeson and the shotgun
formation all alone there. He'll get the snap drop straight backs,
got some time steps up in the pocket, he'll tuck
in a run.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
He can do this.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
He's got a first down across midfield, still on his
feet and finally brought down at the forty yard line
of Opalaika. That's gonna be a twenty four yard pick
up for the quarterback scramble and a first down. Tyrese
Pitts was there to finally bring the quarterback down, but
middle of the field just opened up there as he
stood back in the pocket, didn't see anything downfield.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Yeah, that's a big play too. We got We can't
let him run the ball. We gotta keep people in
the middle.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
They'll hurry up, hand the ball up the middle to JR.
Moseley and a short pick up down to the thirty
six yard line before Tyler Moore picks him up. He'll
pick up four yards on the play and he'll bring
up second down in six just underway here from the
Hoover met it'll be second down in six for the Bucks, says.
They pick up a big first down on a quarterback
scramble by Mack Beeson. Better than that. Mac Beeson the
(22:05):
quarterback changing his play at the line of scrimmage, shifting
things around. A receiver to the right, one to the
left side, and JR. Moseley, the running back two is right.
Beson gets the snap, drops back, wants to throw looks left,
now comes back right, scrambles and now wants to take
off and run and gonna be forced out of bounds
and Tramaine Thomas forces him out of bounds. He picked
up a yard and it's gonna bring up a third
(22:26):
and five here for the Bucks. Boy, This is a
big This is a big play right here. I think
it's gonna be a third and six. It will be
so no gain on the play. Good job there by
Tremaine Thomas.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
We can't let this guy run the ball now, third
down possession.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
Again, Quarterback mac Beeson out of the shotgun again, Jr.
Moseley the running back to his left too wide to
the left side of the field. That's the wide side
here on the third and six, they'll go run play
right shide and he's swarmed up for no game. May
have lost the yard, big Ty Hudson was there in
the backfield, and it'll be fourth down for Hoover. We'll
(23:01):
see what they'd just sign to do here on fourth
and six. Did not lose a yard? Did not? I
think he lost the yard. And I'm fourth down and
seven coming up here for the Bucks. They gonna go
far it. Yeah, they keep the offense out there at
the thirty seven yard line of Opelaika. Big play early
right here, Van, We're bringing some now. He drops back,
(23:21):
looks like he wants to quit kick it, and he will,
and it will bounce down at the ten yard line
and it will take a little bit of a Hoover
roll down to the ten so the Bulldog's offense will
get a chance to come out a good stop there
by the Bulldog defense coach.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
Absolutely didn't let him run the ball after that first
twenty five yard Carrie did a really really good job defensively.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Big win for Bulldogs on the road. Coach, I know
when we deferred, we were kind of talking to you
take the ball first in this game, and we saw
the strategy there this defense. A lot of confidence by
this coaching staff in the defense, and they got the
big stop.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Now, Van, I'm just telling you we need to pick
keep away with the football here.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
Now, Calvin Hugley will start the tail to the right
of Colby Key Southmore, quarterback for the Bulldogs, gets the
snap from the ten, he'll fake it, roll right, throws,
jumps it off to Blake Johnson across the fifteen. Blake
cross the twenty twenty five thirty. Blake still on his
feeb the thirty five yard line and they finally hem
him up at around the thirty two yard line and
Blake still try to push his way out of bounds
(24:18):
at the forty yard line. Thy Hammer getting going early
here at the Hoover met Blake Johnson, Thedis Sanders on
the stop. There all the way up to the forty
yard line for Blake the hammer Johnson come a yard
pick up in a Lambert transfer and storage. First down
yard got a way, good job, good job up to
the forty yard line. Good who play call there by
(24:41):
the Bulldogs Calvin hugely the tail back again for Coolby
Key out of the shot and gone on first down,
hand off to Calvin. Calvin try to bounce it outside.
Calvin slips a tackle up around the forty five and
Calvin up to the forty six yard line. That's going
to be a six yard pick up for Calvin Hugley
before Theoda. Sanders comes up on the stop. Great job,
six yards. Good job offensive line.
Speaker 4 (25:05):
That is Shavid Miller, Epperson, Jackson, Lee, there is whit
Lord Eric Mason.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Second down in four good starts so far here for
the Bulldogs. Opelika. From there on forty six. Here's Jamari
Miller going in motion. They'll a little toss inside though
to Blake Johnson and Johnson's up to midfield and he's
gonna have enough for the first down. The landing drama
on the stop there for Hoover. It's gonna be really
close to a first down. They signal first down so
(25:33):
it will be enough for a first down. Labor transfer
in storage first down to pick up a four yards.
Nice misdirection there as they faked like they were going
to Jamari on the speed sweep and went back insides
of Big Blake Johnson, Kobe.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Keyshe quarterback, Rody Jones, Jamari Miller.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Where's Johnson? The wide receivers trips receivers out the right
first down Bulldogs at midfield at the fifty yard line,
hopeful like I'm moving from right to left. Calvin Hugley
remains the tailbag. They'll fake it and Cooby in some
trouble dumps it off though to Miller, who's got it
at the forty five yard line. And that was a
good throw and catch for five yards. Jeremiah Robinson on
(26:17):
the stop for Hoover. But a five yard pickup second
down in five coming up here for the Bulldog. Good
job by Kobe Lee. Way to start off really really.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Good scoreless game.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Hoover's first drive, they have to punt give a dope
alike at the ten. The drive so far at the
forty five of Hoover seven to twenty three left first
quarter and Colby Key out of the shot and going
to be a second down and five at the Hoover
forty five yard line. Colby gets the snap, hands it
off to Calvin right side. Calvin good serge as he
busts his way up to the forty two yard line,
(26:48):
and the Bulldog offention line comes in there and tries
to push Calvin ahead for some more, but he gets
all the way down to the forty one yard line
before Cameron torbor In on the stop got third and
very short third and one. Could be the Hammer right here,
could be Hammer time I formation here for the Bulldog
(27:09):
short yardage under center. Look for Kobe Key. He'll go
under center and then check the sidelines. Calvin is the
running back and the Hammer is the full back, and
they'll give it to Blake running right side. And Blake's
gotten the first down down to the thirty nine, maybe
the thirty eight yard line. They'll mark it down to
the thirty eight yard line. That is a pickup of
three yards three first down and another Lambert transfer and
(27:31):
storage first down. Findley on the stop for Hoover. Keep
running that ball baby, good job with up front. Well
they mark it down to the thirty nine of Hoover.
It'll be first and ten at the buck thirty nine
yard line. Six twenty three left in this first quarter,
scoreless game. Still Dog's on the moon. Johnson moves to
(27:52):
the right side, Kolby Key gets the snap, fakes it
to him, go back to Miller and he's in trouble
and gonna be brought down back close to midfield. He said,
forward progress back in the forty five yard line. That'll
be a loss of six yards on the play. Trishawn
dre Darden on the stop there for Hoover. Second down
in sixteen now coming up after that negative play, Hoover
(28:15):
had that one read pretty good. They did a good
job on that. Jordan Waits is the tailback now giving
Calvin Huglia breather long drive here for the Bulldog so far,
but second down in long coming up here empty the backfield.
Colby looks right, steps up in the pocket. Colby's surveying
the field still runs to his right, and Koby's gonna
(28:37):
try to tuck it and slip the sidelines and boy
just about stayed in bounds and had a big pickup,
but they're gonna mark him out. It looks like around
the forty one yard line for a pickup of a
round four yards before he got ran out of bounds.
It'll set up a third and thirteen. Okay, all right,
play right here five twenty nine remaining here in this
(28:57):
first quarter. Good drive here for the Bulldogs, but I'll
try to keep it going here on a third and
thirteen at the Hoover forty two. Key out of the shotgun,
the tail back to the leftist Calvin Hughughley and Coleby
gonna drop back, wants to throw steps up in the pocket.
Pressured rolls to his right. Colby begins some trouble and
(29:19):
now just jumps it down the sidelines and out of
bounds as he was hit around the thirty nine yard line,
and it will bring up fourth down. Really promising drive
for the Bulldogs, but one negative play really put things
sure good off track there and the Bulldogs will have
to punt at the Hoover forty two and try to
pin them deep here. Zion Henderson set to punt Jamar
(29:44):
Moultrie's back deep four of the bucks and around the.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
Twelve yard line, but the field the other way, So
that's good.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Van Henderson gets the snap, high booming boot into this
one and a fair catch called for by Moultrie at
the eleven yard line, and that's where Hoover will take
over here with five twelve remaining, So both offenses with
a couple of big plays. Really a good drive by
Hope alike. I started at the ten, got all the
way down and around the Hoover forty yard line, I
hope like I had to punt it away, sure was.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
We can't let that quarterback run the ball on these
passing situations.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
So the Bucks will have it from there on twelve
yard line.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
Let's see if we can shut him down right here, man,
we got the four man front up.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
So double back sit here out of the shotgun here
for mack Beeson and he'll hand the ball off up
the middle and.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
A good stop there by the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
They say the ball comes out, scramble for it, and
they're gonna say he was down. No signal yet, Boy,
it was close. Jeremy had me going. I thought we
had it, boy, I thought I thought they fumbled it down.
But they're gonna pick up two yards. Goodness up to
the fourteen yard line. All most of fumble. Got I'm
excited there, Jase. Second down in eight coming up here
(31:00):
for the Dogs. From there on fourteen yard line. Here
we go for the Bucks. I should say, four man
front again, Tripp's out right and a single receiver left
here for Beson. Second down, he'll empty the backfield. Beson
looks trying to throw up a screen and bumped and
knocked off a the fender and steal on his feet
up around the twenty one yard line. That was caught
by j R. Moseley out of the backfield, Keevi and
(31:21):
King on the stop up to the twenty one yard
line a yard shy of the first down. It'll be
third and short here for the Bucks. Boy almost had
that one in.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Jr.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Moseley did a good job of bouncing off one defender
in the backfield and making a good run after the contact.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
There, third and one.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
They gonna run this, I have no doubt in my mind.
Anthony Allen is the running back to the right here
of Beson. Two wide outs to the left, single receiver
to the right, four man front, Beson out of the
shot gun. It's third and one. Play action wants to throw,
got it? Complete at the twenty eight yard line and
spun out of bounds close to the thirty. They'll mark
him at the twenty nine. It's Jeremiah tab for a
(32:02):
Hoover first down, court ingram On the stop up to
the twenty nine yard line. That will be a pickup
of eight yards and a first down for the Bucks
by three forty nine scoreless game still here at the
Hoover met both offenses first time out having to punt,
and Hoover's second timeout on offense here from their own
(32:23):
twenty nine yard line, three forty nine left, first quarter,
stay with the four man front, Beason hands it off
left side to Anthony Allen, spins up in the hole
up to the thirty one maybe the thirty two yard line,
a pickup of around three yards before Tyler Moore brings
him down. Yeah, a little too much, a little too much.
Second down and seven coming up now for the Buccaneers.
(32:48):
Moseley and Allen. A pretty good combo back there at
running back here for Hoover. Three twenty four scoreless game
again here from the Hoover met for two defense again
brings a man in motion. Beson gets the snap roll
to his right end. Throws complete and turning up field
near midfield is Christopher Warren on the reception, and he's
got the fifty yard line. That's gonna be a pickup
(33:10):
of eighteen yards and a Buck first down. Oh, we
can't give him that much. Pushing over here, court Ingram
on the stop for the Bulldogs. Three eleven left and
at midfield of the Bucks are moving right to left.
Come on, Dave, two white outs left and a single
receiver to the right side. Beson gets the snap quick
inside hand on Anthony Allen stood up right at the
(33:32):
line of scrimmage. A great job there by that Bulldog
defensive line. And that was Amari Smiley and also number
ninety nine Jokai lightfoot Tyler Moore linebacker also in there
assisting on that stop.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Hey, we we gotta do a little bit better and secondary.
Now let this boy throw the ball. This boy's good quarterback.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
Now it'll be second down in ten for the Bucks
again at midfield. Scoreless game with two forty three on
the clock. Running here in the first quarter, somebody make
a big play on defense. Come on four to two again.
Beasting out of the shotgun, drops back, pressured, steps up
in the pocket, wants to scramble, dumps it off at
the thirty six yard line. Complete at the thirty five
(34:11):
and down finally by Ty Hudson was number two Jeremiah
tab for another Hoover first down and he's scrambled around
and jumped one behind the defense there for a first down.
Or they're hurting us on those underneath passes.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
Man, Yep, we're getting He's getting the ball off in
about three seconds.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Seventeen yard throwing catch there, first down. Hoover at the
Opalaika thirty three yard line, first and ten for of
the Bucks.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Quick inside hand off to j R.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Allen not much there, had a good stomp there by
the Bulldogs coming up with Carson Moss making that stop
the linebacker for just a yard pickup. It'll be second
down in ten coming up here for the bus. We
gotta do better on these second downs.
Speaker 4 (34:54):
Now they're killing us on this intermediate passing and we're
getting back there, but we're not getting two quick enough.
Let's see if we might, oh, we might bring some pressure.
They just look like they're gonna throw the ball on us.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Beson doing a nice job sitting back there and just
rolling left to right or sitting in the pocket and
finding his guys downfield who were letting there you gotta
snap in six seconds, who are letting the game clock
earth lay clock get down to four, down to three,
Beson down to one, gets the snap off, and he'll
hand it off right side. Nice stop in the backfield,
j R. Allen going backwards, and a nice stop there
(35:29):
by Tremaine Thomas from the defensive line, and it's gonna
be third down and twelve coming up here for Hoover
with one ten to go here in the first quarter.
All right, now, boy, this is huge right here. You
don't want to want to know three clock continuing to run.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
You don't want to let this quarterback run the ball.
I think we'll probably rush forth and defend. We've got
to get to in now.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Mostly it'll be the tailback for Beson out of the shotgun.
They've got two receivers left, a single receiver to the right,
with Christopher Warren going in motion now to the left side.
They'll fake it left and the quarterback takes a shot
deep downfield over the defense for a touchdown. And that
guy right over the head of the defender who tried
to go up for the interception and it's a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
Hauled in and caught for Hoover.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
That was to Marion Gardner on the reception for the
Hoover touchdown, and they strike first six nothing here inside
the Hoover met Matthew dives with the extra point up
and good. Hoover strikes first seven to nothing here at
the Hoover met and we'll be right back after this
time out. You're listening, noble like a Bulldog football, and
(36:58):
we'll take a quick time out right here on ninety
seven point seven kicker FM short kick fielded by Brody
Jones and brought up to around the thirty five yard line,
and that is where Opelika will start up from the
thirty six yard line. Who for leading seven to nothing,
(37:19):
and the Bulldogs will have it from their own thirty
six yard line. And the offense had a good drive
their first time out, started at the ten, got all
the way down to around the Hoover forty yard line
before the drive stalled out. And we'll see Colby Key
out of the shotgun here on first and ten from
his own thirty six yard line, looks right and wants
to throw it to Jamari Miller out of the backfield
and Miller in some trouble and he's going to be
(37:40):
forced out of bounds at around the twenty nine yard line.
Big negative play there, that's going to be close to
a seven yard loss. As Jeremiah Robinson was in there
to sniff that one out. This offense coach doesn't really
work well on negative plays, and hey, they got a
(38:02):
lot of screed a Hoover's side too. Now, twenty four
seconds left here in the first quarter, with Hoover leading
seven nothing. It will be second and seventeen here for
the Bulldogs. Key out of the shotgun, tries to go
ground game, Hugly, hugly, good run right side, and Hugley's
up close to the thirty four yard line before he's
finally brought down, but just a gain of five yards.
As we head to the second quarter here from the
(38:23):
Hoover met it will be a third down and long
coming up here for the Bulldogs as we get the
second quarter going. When we come back seven nothing, Hoover,
you're listening to Bulldog football here on the kicker.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Seven nothing.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
As we get back to action here, it'll be a
third and twelve coming up here for Opealaika from their
on a thirty four yard line.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
A big negative play on this.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Drive is put Opealaikah off track just a bit here
we'll see if the Bulldogs can pick up a key
third down here, dogs will have it from their own
thirty four yard line as Colby Key, he goes out
of the shot gun. Key gets the snap, drops back there,
bringing pressure, dumps it across the middle. It's caught by
Quay Robinson Quay Johnson rather and Quay's brought out of
bounds at the forty yard line.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
Quiz Johnson.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
That is Jamar Moultrie on the stop, gonna be short
of the first down of the fourth down and six
coming up for the Bulldogs from the forty yard line,
and a good look there at Quiz he just could
not turn it up and Hoover's defense again closed up
on that one pretty quickly. So here comes Zion Henderson
out to punt this one away. We'll head down for
a four seasons Federal Credit Unions sideline report. We've been
(39:33):
trying to get down to Mac McCracken. This one's been
going so fast here as when playing the second quarter
eleven twenty four left with Hoover leading seven to nothing,
and here's Henderson standing around the twenty seven yard line
to catch this snap, and.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
That one got away from Henderson.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
He finally got it trying to scramble around and he
throws it and it's caught by Ty Hudson, and Hudson's
in some trouble and he's gonna be brought down to
the twenty five yard line. There's a flag on the
play though, at the fourth twenty one yard line. We'll
see what this is. That snap was just to the
right of Zion Henderson. Maybe off sides, maybe against Hoover.
(40:13):
We'll see. This is a huge call here off sides.
Oh no, they're waving it off. Boy, he went to
signal off sides. But a huge, huge break for Hoover there,
and they're going to have the football at around the opalaika.
I see where they mark it down at the twenty
(40:35):
seven yard line. Let's head down mc mccrackey, boy, we
can't have those mistakes, mac, No, we can't.
Speaker 10 (40:40):
Right there, that one right there, stung. That's the special
teams we're talking about. You can't mess the up in
big games.
Speaker 2 (40:45):
Right here. Offensively, we're sputtering again.
Speaker 10 (40:47):
Offensively, we've got to do everything we can to keep
them out of the end.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
Zone right here and just hold them guys, all right.
Mac McCracken Sideline Reports brought you by four Seasons Federal
Credit Union. Hoover leads seven to nothing, eleven oh three remaining. Hey,
they've got the football now after that punt miss Q
and they'll have a speed sweep beast in. The quarterback
will pull it and try to run it, and he's
down close to the twenty.
Speaker 3 (41:07):
Five yard line.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
That was a good stop by Carson Moss and just
a couple of yards on the play there. It'll be
second down in eight coming up for Hoover. As we're
in the second quarter, ten forty eight remaining and the
Hoover leading seven to nothing, and.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
We're doing good against the run Van it's throwing the
ball all over the field on us. Yeah, Gomment, We
got to get some little bit of pass rush too.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
J R. Moseley goes out of the backfield now, so
an empty look here beasting back there all along out
of the shotgun. The quarterback on second and eight at
the twenty six of Opolaika drops back deep pass wide
open inside the five touchdown are Mari Towns in for
the touchdown and he was wide open across the middle
of the field and Hoover going up thirteen nothing now
(41:53):
with ten twenty two left here in this second quarter.
That was too easy. Matthew d ibis for the extra
point snap down and the kick is up and the
(42:15):
kick is good. Dogs down fourteen nothing here the Hoover
with ten and twenty two remaining here in the second quarter,
and we're back after this time out.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
You're listening to Bulldog.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Football here on the kicker, Amari Town's with a touchdown
reception for the Bucks and they lead at fourteen nothing,
ten twenty two left here in the second quarter, and
here's Matthew DIABs has it ted up. He'll kick from
right to left. Bulldog's got to get something going here
(42:46):
on offense and answer and Jamari Miller comes over and
let's this one go out of bounds. That'll be a
good break here for the Bulldogs. It's Opelika should have
good feel positioned after that.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
Penn Gray, We're.
Speaker 4 (42:55):
Gonna, hey, listener, Van, We're gonna have to right now now.
I'll put together a drive. We can't let this keep on.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
Yeah, Dogs need to answer here. It's very important.
Speaker 4 (43:08):
Bunches of minus yards on passes and every other thing
we can think of.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
Sos Opelika gonna make him rekick? Oh, I hope not.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
I don't know, mag, What was the call on that?
I'm down here with the defense right now? Okay?
Speaker 5 (43:28):
That on?
Speaker 4 (43:28):
All right?
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Well, have to get some clarification on this one. Because
the kick went out of bounds. Can you find out
why he had to why he's rekicking? Mac?
Speaker 3 (43:36):
So this is uh so, we missed this one.
Speaker 2 (43:41):
So they're gonna rekick and they're going to back them
up five yards, all right. So soon as you get
clarification on that one, mag, let us know Pelaca electing
I guess to back him up five yards and make
him rekick here. I guess they think they can get
it past the thirty five man.
Speaker 3 (44:02):
I think, so, maybe try to set up the return.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
Maybe this guy hadn't kicked the ball that far, all right,
So Hoover will rekick man this time five yards back
fourteen of it again? Who will With the lead ten
to twenty two left in the second quarter, the IV
spits a boot into this one, and this is gonna
drift Jamari Miller back inside the five yard line, and
Jamari is in some trouble at the ten yard line.
And Jamari spins around and he's gonna be out of
(44:26):
bounds at around the six yard line. And now Opalaika
is gonna be backed up inside their fifteen yard line. Actually,
they're gonna mark him down at the six. Yeah, answer man,
mag Did you get any clarification? Was that just a
(44:48):
decision there on the sidelines? I didn't, guys, aren't we? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (44:53):
Lead all right?
Speaker 2 (44:58):
So the Bulldogs backed up from their own six yard
line and a little like they may have had the
ball around the thirty six. So here's Kolby Key out
of the shotgun Dogs for their own six yard line.
Two white outs to the left side. They'll hand it
off to Calvin. Hugley try to run left side. Calvin
tries to go outside. Nothing there, no gain on the play.
(45:20):
Calvin gets back to the line of scrimmage there before
Sanders from.
Speaker 3 (45:23):
Hoover brings him down.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
Nine fifty four left here in this first half of play,
and the Bulldogs with a second down and ten, backed
up here on their own six yard line with Hoover
leading fourteen. Nothing, need to get something going here. We're
shoot Key out of the shotgun, Calvin still remains a
tail back to the right. They'll go back to Calvin again.
(45:54):
No play action, Koby trying to throw. He's in the
end zone. He's gonna be brought down. He's going to
be a safety. He may have fumbled the football, and
it's going to be close. I think he was down.
They're going to say safety and not touchdown. So that's
a break for the Bulldogs. But Colby goes down in
the end zone, almost lost the football, and Hoover did
fall on it. But everything right now going Hoover's way
(46:18):
here in the met and nine oh eight. I continues
to run here after that score and finally start with
nine oh six sixteen nothing though, Hoover on time, we'll
take a quick time out. You're listening to Bulldog football
here on the kicker. Why a tough start here for
(46:46):
the Bulldogs. Nine oh six to play in the second quarter,
opal like a trailing sixteen nothing to Hoover a safety
there on Colby Key sacked in the end zone, nearly
lost the football, but was able to get down on
the ground and just get the safety. So save some
points there for the Dogs. And here comes Johnny Cecina
out to kick this one away as he'll be kicking
from his own twenty yard line after the safety and
Hoover trying to get some really good field position and
(47:10):
get their offense back out on the field. Up sixteen
to nothing, Johnny puts a good boot into this one
end over end, it will hit down to the twenty
six yard line, and Hoover trying to set up the return.
And there's a pretty good scene here near side cross midfield,
across the forty and down the sidelines and forced out
of bounds at around the thirty two yard line. And
that was a great return there by Hoover. Jamar Moultrie
(47:32):
on that return for Hoover and finally forced out of
bounds by Brody Jones. So Hoover's gonna have it at
the thirty two of Opalaika. So Hoover is knocking on
the door again here at the thirty two yard line,
and the defense has got to figure things out quickly
here and try to stop this bleed and give the
(47:53):
offense a chance. And defense has been put in some
bad situations here, but can't let this one get out
of hand on the road here in the first half.
Oh can't let him. We can't let him have anything else.
Speaker 5 (48:04):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
Vison with two running backs each side, and he will
hand the ball off in the backfield and finally brought
down by Tyler Moore. That was keeling Jefferson on the
run there for Hoover. Nine eight forty left here in
the second quarter, a gain of one down to the
(48:27):
thirty one yard line, and it will be second down
and nine coming up here for Hoover at the opal
likea thirty one claw continuing to run eight twenty four
left here in the second quarter. Beason out of the shotgun,
got the four man front and again this is Jefferson
(48:49):
the tail back to the right of Eson, and they'll
give it to Jefferson. Jefferson bounce it right side and
nice job. There's Amary Smiley gonna bring him down back
at around the thirty five yard line. A big negative loss.
They'll say, foreign progress was right at the point of contact,
which was pretty much at the line of scrimmages. I'm
(49:09):
already tackling about fifteen yards of the backfield, but it'll
be third down and ten for the Bulldogs. I need
to stop right here now, yep. I don't know how
strong their kicker is. They are in the middle of
the field here, but a third and ten, I know
they're thinking, yeah, maybe go back to the air here.
This secondary better be awake and communicating. Good yep, as
(49:29):
there's been a couple busted coverages that led to the
two touchdowns. Got the four man front third and eleven
Keylon Jefferson is the tailback again. Deson gets the snap,
drops back, pressure coming and Dson now rolls here to
the near side.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
And he is gonna be hit. Throws the ball away.
Speaker 2 (49:45):
Should be grounding as he was sank back at the
forty nine yard line. There is no flag yet they're
gonna say. I'm guessing somebody was in the area. He
was outside the tackle box. There comes the flag. It
did not go past the line of scrimmage. That will
be intentional grounding. As the white hat finally throws the
hanky and I'm not sure what the delay in the
(50:09):
call is, but finally we get intentional grounding. That's lost
down too and it will be fourth down. That's a
good job our defense. Defense needed a stop and they
finally got one.
Speaker 3 (50:19):
Mac.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
I know you said the defense was frustrated on the field.
Maybe that's what they needed right there.
Speaker 10 (50:23):
Yeah, they were boys that fired them up over here
on the sidelines.
Speaker 2 (50:26):
Great job.
Speaker 10 (50:26):
Hey, no more points, no more offense, Like said dad,
this is a drive. You gotta go down there and
get points.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
We got Yeah, we gotta do something offensively, man. We
do all right back to the forty nine yard line.
So that's a big loss there.
Speaker 3 (50:39):
On the play.
Speaker 2 (50:42):
We had had a bay we'd had but ten snouts.
That was close to nineteen yards lost there on that play.
They're going to go for this, Well, the quarterback stays
out there. I think he's just gonna punt it away
and there is a time out that's going to be
taken by Hoover here, so we'll step aside take a
time out as well. It is a fourth and twenty
seven for the Bucks back near midfield from their on
forty nine yard line, and we'll take the time out
(51:03):
with them. Hoover leading sixteen nothing here with seven fifteen
left in the second quarter.
Speaker 3 (51:08):
You're listening to Bulldog.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
Football here on the kicker, Well, Hoover does punt it
away and it will be the Bulldogs letting this one roll.
As Jamari Miller just gets out of the way and
it will roll dead at around the twenty now the
nineteen yard line, so that's where the Bulldogs will take
(51:29):
over first and ten Dogs for their on nineteen yard
line and very important offensive series. Here again for the
Bulldogs trailing, here's sixteen nothing was seven oh four left
in the second quarter. Opelaika will get the football to
start in the second half. But since that opening drive,
Opalaikah has not been able to get anything going offensively.
And we'll see Calvin Hugley not in there to run
(51:50):
the ba oh it is Calvin here near side. Calvin
hit at the line of scrimmage, and Calvin does get
up to around the twenty two yard line before then
and will layam on the stop, so pick up around
three yards there for Calvin. It'll be second out and
seven here.
Speaker 4 (52:08):
For the And what's happened is we've gotten sacked or
lost a bunch of yards on one of these next downs.
Speaker 2 (52:15):
We got to keep these drives alive. Van biggest play
for Palaika was a pass to the hammer Blake Johnson,
but since then it's been a little bit here and
there in the run game. Two white outs to the
left side and the Calvin remains the tailback here on
second down and seven dogs from there on twenty two,
hand off again to Calvin, Calvin running behind that line,
(52:35):
Calvin across the twenty five. Calvin still on his feet
up to thirty yard line, and Calvin's gonna get up
to the thirty one for a lamborate transfer in storage
first down. That was a pickup of nine yards before
Cameron Torboor comes in and makes a stop for the Bucks. Now,
so dode okay on a running game. Van Yeah, Calvin
did a good job staying behind the offensive lineman, letting
(52:56):
them lead block for him, and then cut and got
some good yard after contact. Bulldogs to the up to
the thirty one of Hoover or from there on thirty one,
I should say, and they'll bring Jamari Miller in motion
and they'll toss it back inside to Blake Johnson. Johnson's
got a good hole. Johnson across the forty and Johnson's
gonna be brought down at the forty two yard line.
(53:18):
That's enough for a lamborate transfer and storage first down
as he's up for eleven yards. Lore Dorian will lay
them again on the stop here for Hoover come on,
come on, get up on the ball. Let's run it
again Dogs from there on forty two. With that first
down run Jordan Waits checks in the ball game. Now,
given Calvin a breather and they'll give it to Jordan.
(53:40):
Jordan right up the middle. Hint at the point of
the line of scrimmage. There he got one yard up
to the forty three and it'll bring up second down
and nine. Fota senators on the stop there for Hoover.
Speaker 4 (53:54):
Just that little inside running play, that inside zone play
only made a yard on it.
Speaker 2 (53:58):
Got knock him off the ball. Oh boys, Second down
and nine coming up here for the Bulldogs open like
a trailing Hoover sixteen nothing here in the second quarter,
five oh eight left. Got to get some points here
for the half. Yeah, they can pour it down here
on second and nine too. They'll hand them all off.
Speaker 3 (54:14):
No fake it.
Speaker 2 (54:15):
Colby Key rolling to his left, Kobe throws across the
middle at his call. Blake Johnson's got it for a
first down as he is down to the forty four
yard line of Hoover. Good job, now that's going to
be a four yard I should say, how many yards
you get on that.
Speaker 6 (54:37):
Ten?
Speaker 2 (54:37):
That was fourteen I think fourteen good down to the
forty four of Hoover first to ten labort transfer and storage.
First down, so in Buccaneer territory. Here at the forty
four yard line, Jordan Waits the tail back and Kobe
gets the snap. They'll fake it. Oh, they're trying to
get the reverse plate a Jamorrow Jamarrow. He got a
few blocks but closed up pretty quickly and he's brought
(55:00):
down at the forty one yard line. Picks up three
yards on the play. Javon pulling him on the stop
there for Hoover. Second down in seven. Dogs need a
big play. Coach, Yes, sir see Julian Pritchett checking the game.
Jalen Washington also checking the game. Jamari Miller actually going
to come out of the game on this play. Come on, guys,
(55:21):
we've got to get some points. Let's go second down
and seven coming up here for the Bulldogs at the
Hoover forty one yard line. They'll bring Jalen Washington in motion.
They'll hand it to Waits. Waits trying to run left side,
Wakes broke a tackle, stays on his feet. Waite spinds
his way up close to the thirty six yard line.
A good run there a close to five yards and
gonna set up a second and very short coming up
(55:43):
here for the Bulldogs. It'll be third down and two.
Ermae on the stop there for Hoover, and this could
be four down territory here for Opalaka. Trailing sixteen to
nothing here with three twenty eight left in the first half.
I formation Calvin back in the ball game, Blake Johnson
the full back, and Kobe'll check the sidelines here on
this third and two play here with three nineteen in
(56:03):
a running clock here in the second quarter, under center
goes Kolby. He'll pitch it out to Calvin, and Calvin
runs ahead close to the first down marker and they're
gonna say he's about half a foot short and looks
like it'll be thirty inches or fourth in inches coming
up here for the Bulldogs. That was a really good
job defensively there. Dk Bolden, the linebacker came in and
(56:24):
made the stop. He's down at the thirty five. It'll
be fourth and one here for the Bulldogs. I formation
again here Colby under center. Johnson is the full back,
and they'll hand it to Blake. Blake's gotten the first
down and Blake's inside the thirty. Blake spins his way,
stays on his feet.
Speaker 3 (56:40):
Inside the twenty, inside the ten five touchdown, pimper time
three two thirty seven left, and the hammer strikes for
the Bulldogs, and i opal Ike is on the board
sixteen six with two thirty seven left here in the
second quarter.
Speaker 2 (57:01):
Boy Blake, what a weapon, you know. He's running it
in short yarded situation. He broke through the entire defense.
It popped down on the other end, coach, and got
in there for the touchdown. Big score right there.
Speaker 3 (57:15):
Dogs needed that one here with two thirty seven left.
Speaker 2 (57:18):
What are they doing? I think they're showing like they're
going for two here. Kobe Key stays in here and
dogs will break like they're going for two. Koby's going
to work the shotgun, and I think Opelke is going
to burn a time out here. Looks like they will
(57:38):
all sorts of confusion here on this. As Kobe threw
a ball out, now they zip one in like the
kicking ball was not out on the field. This may
be by design here, or we're going to call a
time out. Oh, everybody huddling up. I think we're going
(57:59):
for two here withty seven left, everybody breaks and Blake
Johnson's the running back to the left of kolbe Key.
A ten point ball game. Opalin is showing that they're
going four to two. Kobe gets the snap, rolls to
the right and wants to set up a throwback, and
it is caught. Good. That is true. Gagliano for the
two point conversion. Well designed playing there by the Bulldogs
(58:21):
at sixteen eight. Now with two thirty seven and a
heck of a score drive powered by Opal like a
power services hometown people working for you. A touchdown and
a two point conversion, sixteen to eight new ball game
here at the Hoover met two thirty seven left. You're
listening to Bulldog football here on the kicker well, a
(58:45):
big answer for the Bulldogs putting up eight points and
cutting this down to an eight point game, a one
possession game. Sixteen eight here with two thirty seven left
and a short kick by the Bulldogs, and it's gonna
drop down. It's gonna be fielded by Hoover at the
thirty nine yard line. They just about letting that one
skip away. It was hauled in by Amory Towns and
(59:05):
that was a huge grab for him, and the Bulldogs
almost came up with it, but Hoover's gonna have good
field position at the thirty nine yard line, so all
most got the football back leeve. Oh, I just wish
they'd kicked it deep.
Speaker 3 (59:25):
That's okay to thirty seven left, all.
Speaker 2 (59:29):
Right, See if we can get the ball back. So
Hoover from their own thirty nine yard line. Here's missing
four man front out of the shotgun from his own
thirty nine. Here on first down, quarterback drops back, steps
up in the pocket again, wants to scramble, got some
running room, and he slides shy of the forty five.
They're gonna say at the forty three yard line is
where he's down. So it's a four yard pickup for
(59:52):
the quarterback scramble there second down and six for macbeeson
the quarterback two twenty left Ty Hudson on the pressure
there and forced the quarterback down on sixteen to eight
as the Bulldogs were trailing sixteen nothing, but answered with
a touchdown on a two point conversion to make this
an eight point game. Here with two oh seven and
the clock running here in the first half, got the
four to two again, fakes a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:00:13):
Timp and picked off Keevan King's got at the forty
five yard line, and Keevan's tackled down at the thirty
nine of Hoover a tip ball in the air picked
off by Keevan King. And finally the Doggies are getting
some treats here in Hoover. Finally, Coach McCracken, we're getting some.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
Breaks, yes, sir, And there's a time out for an
injured player on the field, and we will check on
Kievy and Noah, it was Kivan coming up after all
banged up there, But let's check in a four season's
Federal Credit Union sideline report.
Speaker 3 (01:00:49):
I know Mac McCracken happy and excited about this change.
Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
Shoot, Hi, that's big tough step up right there, boys.
Pandemonium and the Dogs have got the moat all right,
hopellca back on the fiel now. One fifty five certainly
was a bad start for the Dogs, trailing sixteen nothing,
but it's an eight point game now and Opelaika has
got it at the Hoover thirty eight yard line. First
and ten Colby drops back home run shot down field
(01:01:13):
and going.
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
Up for it is Johnson and just stripped away at
the last minute.
Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
He had it going into the end zone, but a
heck of a play there by the defense to strip
it away at the goal line. That was trade Arden
who stripped it away at the end there. Boy quiz
almost went up and made that ninth grade highlight reel
catch all over again and a great effort there by
quiz Be almost hauled it in. It'll be second down
in ten. I like that coach going for the shot
(01:01:39):
there and Bulldogs almost came up with him. We need
to at least get a field goal here.
Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Hugeley is the tailback first and ten again at the
Hoover thirty eight and Kobe gets the snamp. The hand
off is to Calvin. Good run right side thirty five thirty.
There's a flag down. It's coming back. They're gonna get
a hole on the right side of the offensive line
and this long run by Calvin all the way down
to the ten yard line is going to come back,
(01:02:08):
and that's going to be a big flag. And I
think it is the right call coach.
Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
I'd have to.
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
I saw that, and the Hoover sideline I think saw
it as well. And unfortunate that one's going to come back.
So that'll be ten yards from the original spot, so
it's going to be backing it up close to midfield.
One thirty eight left, and this will be a second
down again, but it's going to be second down in
twenty coming up here for the Bulldogs. Great run by Calvin,
(01:02:42):
got it all the way down to the Hoover ten,
but it's wiped away on that holding call. It'll be
the forty eight yard line. The line of scrimmage now
for the Bulldogs, where they're on forty eight here on
second and twenty four, white outs to the left side,
a single receiver to the right, an empty backfield here
for kolbe keat don't see this formation from the dog
very much, and Colby drops back as they bring the house.
(01:03:03):
Kobe dumps it off and it's out of bounds and
Colby had nobody to throw to there. Just had to
get that one away quickly. Had no time to throw
that either. One four the clock stopped. It's gonna be
third and twenty coming up here for the Bulldogs. Tyson
Bacon on the pressure on the quarterback, and it's third
and long here for the Bulldogs at the forty eight
(01:03:25):
of Hoover trailing sixteen to eight with one twenty four
left in the second quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:03:31):
Man, may we can make ten yards and go far
on fourth down at least.
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
Yep battle the field position here trips to the left side.
Hard count nearly got Hoover to jump, and they did.
There's a flag on the play. Let's see if they
stick with the off sides and this sick please off side,
So that will be five yards back for the Bulldogs.
Down to the forty four now, and this will be
third and fifteen coming up four opali like as they
move the ball down to the.
Speaker 3 (01:03:58):
Forty three of Hoover. My good, Third and fifteen come
on one twenty four left, Third and fifteen now trips
receivers left side, single receiver right.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
Calvin Hugley is the tailback for the Bulldogs. As Colbe
checks the sidelines to change his play. Here with one
twenty four left, Key gets the shotgun, snap, drops back,
dumps it off to Hugley here near side. Hugley, trying
to tight rope the sideline, spins his way around the
thirty six yard line. And that's gonna be right at
(01:04:31):
the thirty nine yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
It's gonna be a.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
Setting up about a fourth down and nine for the Bulldogs.
Carlisle on the stop for Hoover ain't gonna go far.
The offense will stay out here as the ball is
down to the thirty seven yard line of Hoover. Fourth
down and nine with one eighteen left, Dog's gonna roll
(01:04:58):
the dice. It looks like or maybe Colbe may poochs
punnet punt it here. We'll see Kobe gets the snap
man he will poochs kick it and it will be
caught of the fifteen yard line and trying to set
up a return and hit down at the nineteen yard line.
Coming in, an offensive lineman Kyle Epperson makes a tackle.
He doesn't make many of them, but he made a
good one there. So Hoover will be pinned back around
(01:05:19):
the twenty yard line on one o seven to go.
So the Dogs couldn't turn the interception by Keevy and
King into points. It stays an eight point ball game
here with Hoover leading sixteen eight one oh seven remaining,
and we'll see what their I fits from Hoover tries
to do. We like it. We'll get the football to
start the second half. So you know, Hoover may try
to set something up here with one O seven. Maybe
(01:05:40):
take a shot through the air so that secondary's.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
Got to be ready.
Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
Let's go gave.
Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
DC with two receivers to the left side, single receiver.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
To the right, only a three man rush. Now, quarterback
out of the shotgun and he'll just hand the ball
off right side. A good stop at there was I'm
already or I should say, Malik Autry on the stop
bringing down the running back for a two yard pickup.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
They'll say up to the twenty two.
Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
He didn't we didn't use the time out. Goodness hopeull
I'm going to get the ball to start the second half.
I think they're going to be content to take it
to the locker room. Here forty two seconds left, Hoover
not trying anything. It looks like either down to thirty seven,
down to thirty six, who were just taking their time,
going to run this out. Hoover had two timeouts. O
(01:06:32):
Polaika with all three, they'll hand the ball off again
to the tailback right side, wrapped up by Ty Hudson
at the twenty six yard line for a four yard pickup.
Speaker 3 (01:06:44):
Down to eighteen.
Speaker 2 (01:06:47):
Frustrations building there for the Bulldogs Anthony Allen, the running
back for Hoovers. Man, Well, we just chose not to
use those timeouts.
Speaker 3 (01:06:58):
Yeah, down to five, down to four.
Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
Yeah, the time will run out here in the first half,
So we'll head down to mac McCracken is gonna catch
up with interim head coach Jamie Ferguson as he heads
into the locker room here and see if we can
mack you got him, Go ahead, I.
Speaker 10 (01:07:21):
Got him, Coach Ferguson. Hey, everything that could go wrong,
we're wrong with that first quarter, a lot of adversity,
the dogs fought through, right now, what are you gonna
to tell him and have time to get this thing going?
Speaker 11 (01:07:31):
Same thing you just said, you know, everything that could
go wrong went wrong, got back in the ball game
with a you know, a great scoring offense and a
good two poor conversion play from the offense.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
Man, our guys are going to battle.
Speaker 5 (01:07:41):
They're going to battle to tell.
Speaker 11 (01:07:42):
Off We're gonna get in there and tell them, hey,
wash it, come back out play better.
Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
If we play our.
Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
Brand football, we're gona win this game. Hight, Let's go
get this thing. Guess all right, that's interim coach Jamie
Ferguson there with Mac McCracken and sideline of forts again
brought to you by four Seasons Federal Credit Union, hometown
people working for you, and our visits with the coach,
brought to you by our friends at Kemp and Sons
Printing locally on the operated Kipping Sons Printing off Enterprise Drive.
And there your go to stop for everything in the
printing business, so Chure and c. Brian Bass and the
(01:08:07):
entire family of Bulldogs there at Kipping Sons Printing sixteen eight.
Our halftime score Hoover up by eight, and we are
at the half back with Jason Lee and some of
your halftime scores from around the playoff scene. As we
come back here, listen to Nope like a bulldog football
here on the kicker. It's about ready for the second half. Hopelka,
(01:08:32):
we'll get the football to start the second half. Hooverleading
sixteen eight. Mac McCracken with a four Seasons Federal Credit
Union sideline report. Mac was the the feel in the
locker room.
Speaker 10 (01:08:40):
Hey guys, they're right, very calm and listen to their coaches.
Before we exited out, Coach J. J. Atkins got them
all together and said, guys, we've played. We played terrible
in the first half, but were and he said, look
at the scoreboard, were only eight points down.
Speaker 2 (01:08:52):
He said, we're fixed to turn it up. You know
what you're capable of doing, and we're going to a
fun time winning this ball game. I like it. Mac
good message there from coach jad Atkins. Got to have
a drive this time, yes, sir. So the Bulldogs set
to receive the kick. It is a squibbler end over
end and Jalen Washington goes back and gets it at
the five, going to try to return it. Jalen to
(01:09:12):
tiptoes the sign lines and Jalen's out of bounds close
to the fifteen yard line and high.
Speaker 3 (01:09:17):
Great field position.
Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
Good job there by the kicking team of Hoover, as
Jalen probably just should have let that one go over
his head. It's gonna be at the thirteen yard line.
That's where Opelaika will start first and ten. There's a
flag down on the play. It's over there on our side.
I hope it's not against us. Not sure Hoover is acting,
though it may be against him. I think it is.
(01:09:39):
It's unsportsman a personal foul, and that's against Hoover's that's
going to be a big penalty fifteen yard.
Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
Yes, sir good, that's a break.
Speaker 2 (01:09:49):
I could tell from the look at Hoover they were
not excited about that penalty.
Speaker 3 (01:09:53):
We're just underweight here in the second.
Speaker 2 (01:09:55):
Half, Opelaika with the football Dogs a little pepp in
their step here. It was a sixteen nothing lead for
the Buccaneers and the Dogs put eight on the board,
scoring on a big run by Blake Johnson. Dogs nearly
threw a touchdown past to Ques Johnson. It was broken
up really nicely by the secondary at the goal line
(01:10:16):
for the Bulldyes did get a two point conversion on
that Johnson touchdown, and that's why Opelikah has eight on
the board right now, trailing by eight sixteen eight ball
game here with eleven fifty six left of the third quarter,
got it up to the twenty eight nine yard line
Opelika from their own twenty nine after they stepped that
penalty off. So big break there, Calvin Hugley in the
ballgame for Opelika to start a tailback, Koby Key gets
(01:10:39):
a shotgun snap, they'll move a man in motion and
give it to Calvin left side and Calvin stood up
for a short pickup. Ford progress will get it up
to the thirty two yard line, so Calvin will pick
up three yards as theodis theotis. Sanders on the stop
got it up to the thirty two yard line. So
(01:11:00):
three yard pickups second down and seven coming up here
for Opelaika. That's a hard three yards too, sure was Dogs.
They're at thirty two yard line. Johnson moves in motion
and two receivers out to the right side. Key gets
the snap, drops back, rolls to the right, throws and
it is called at the forty one yard line. Hauled
in by Brody Jones. Up to the forty one That
(01:11:21):
is a nine yard pickup in a Lambert transferring storage
first down right throwing kids right there, Jeremiah Robinson from
Hoover on the stop. But a good pass there by
Colby Keen, a good grond there by Brody Jones. Dogs
are up to the forty two yard line. Check that excellent,
great job, great first damp and Colby changing his play
(01:11:43):
at the line of scrimmage. Now as he goes under
center here with Calvin Hugly the loan back, they'll bring
Jamari in motion a quick inside hand off to Blake Johnson,
and Johnson's up close to midfield.
Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
They'll mark him.
Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
Down right at the forty nine yard line, eighty seven
yards on the place. Seven. Good job, a good we're
moving that ball band rigs. Yes, Sir, Tremayo is stopping
there for Hoover. It'll be second down in three four
opelaika from their on forty nine yard line. Calvin stays
(01:12:14):
in the ball game the tail back. He'll get the
handoff trying to run right side. Good move, and Calvin
is gonna be down at the forty nine of Hoover
right at the first down marker.
Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
I think he's just short.
Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
Yeah, I think he's gonna be about a half the yard.
The landing tremae on the stop again for Hoover, and
it'll be third and one and at for the Bulldogs
at the forty.
Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
Nine of Hoover.
Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Run it again, out, run it again. Ten oh five
as are just underway here in the second half, third
quarter action I formation here for the Bulldogs. Key goes
under center with a hard count. Now we'll check the sidelines.
It's Johnson and Calvin Hugley and the I formation here
and that short yardage package for the Bulldogs. Maybe hammer
time quick hand off. He'll give it to Calvin this time.
(01:12:55):
And Calvin's gotten the first down, and he spins his
way down to the forty six yard line, and then
Opelika comes in and tries to push the pile, but
it'll be enough for a Lambert transfer in storage first
down and a pile up of Hoover players in there
on the stop. Good dride Van Ricks and we need
to keep running the cloth. That's good, We're fine. First down,
(01:13:19):
Opelaika down at the forty seven of Hoover. Come on, boys,
knock him off the ball. Nine to twenty two left
here in the third quarter. Kobe gets the snap, throws
out to Jamari Miller.
Speaker 3 (01:13:31):
He's got it.
Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
Got a block across the forty inside the thirty five
first down run thereby Jamari fat Miller down to the
thirty two of Hoover and Robinson on the stop. Well,
that is a sixteen yard pickup by Jamari Miller and
Lambert transfer in storage first down. Right, that's a big
play too. Oh good, Calvin will come out. Jordan Wait's
(01:13:54):
will check in as Cobe goes under center Paul at
the thirty two of Hoover and Holbi play action, steps
up in the pocket, throws deep and it is knocked
away from the defender. A great play there by Brody
Jones downfield. That one was almost intercepted by Darden number
zero of Hoover, who came over and just about picked
(01:14:15):
it off. Thankfully, lucky Brody Jones came over and laid
a shot on him and knocked it away. I believe
either the running back or Kobe went the wrong way
on that. Actually, I think that was Jalen Washington on
the far side of the field that made that hit. Okay,
so it'll be second down in ten again for Opelaika.
They'll check the sidelines as Calvin Hugley checks back in
the ball game, all wide out either side down to
(01:14:36):
the thirty two of Hoover. Second and ten again for Opelaika.
Doug's trail by eight here sixteen to eight hand off
is to Calvin trying to find some runner room left side.
Calvin stiff's arm a man before he's forced out of
bounds at around the thirty one yard line, and that
was a pickup of just one. It's going to be
third down and nine and Moultrie over there on the stop.
(01:14:57):
So another crucial third down here for the BULLDAG is
trying to keep this drive going. Here is Ophaka trail
sixteen eight here the third quarter, eight forty three left
opening drive here this second half, somebody's got to make
a play. Jamari Miller wide to the right side. Jones
the receiver inside tight on the left side, and they'll
give it to Calvin. Calvin at the thirty got a
(01:15:18):
block thirty five.
Speaker 3 (01:15:19):
Calvin twe the sidelines inside the twenty and he's out
of bounds at around the eighteen yard line of Lambert
transfer and storage.
Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
First down. Magmacracken races down and signals first down. I
see you, Mac, eight thirty six left, Mac, good call there.
I like it, MA baby. Here we go.
Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
Here we go all right, first.
Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
Down and ten at the eighteen of Hoover and there's
a run play Calvin left side. Calvin trying to get
the sideline, and Calvin pushed out of bounds at around
the fourteen.
Speaker 3 (01:15:45):
Yard line, so they run around four yards.
Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Come on, Calvin and somebody down on the sidelines. It
may be Calvin Hugley, and I believe it is. So
an injury time out on the field boy, he need
Calvin up and at him here on what will be
a round a second and five coming up here for
the Bulldogs. He quickly gets up. Good sign there. Calvin
has his helmet off as he comes off on the
sidelines and he's upright.
Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
He looks good. So that's a good sign there after.
Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
Yeah, we'll have to check. Well, we'll get we we'll
get back to check on the mix down on the
other end. So we'll get back to check on Calvin here. Shortly,
Jordan Waits will check in the ball game. It will
be a second down and six inside the fifteen line
of scrimmage, the fourteen of Hoover. He'll check the sidelines.
Kobe keywell change in his play. You got Miller to
the left, Brody Jones to the right, and the Hammer
(01:16:38):
line up at the h back to the left. Handoff
goes to Waits right up the gut and Waits is
going to be down around the twelve yard line. He
picked up two maybe three yards seven fifty one o'clock running.
This is justin Hartroy here partly on the stomp for Hoover.
(01:16:58):
Third and four.
Speaker 3 (01:17:01):
For the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
You got the Hammer in ball down at the thirteen
of Hoover and Johnson is lined up as the h
back or the full back and waits the running back.
They'll give it to Johnson. No, Colby Kee will keep
it left side, and Key's gonna be close to the
first down. Colby down to the ten, down to the
(01:17:25):
nine and mark it at the ten, and it's gonna
be short of a yard. It looks like it's gonna
be fourth and one coming up here for the Bulldogs.
Really close, really close. Yeah, fourth and short. They'll go
I formation here. Colby Key under center, gets the snamp,
(01:17:45):
hands it to Johnson, and Johnson has the first down.
He's down to the sixth down to the maybe the seven,
depending on the spot there. Dk Bolten, the linebacker, makes
the stop or stray. I think they marked him down
at the seven yard line, so it's first in gold
Bulldogs at the seven yard line. Great drive boys, great drive.
(01:18:06):
Six and a half minutes. Shoot up, Let's get it
into zone. Johnson'll get a breather and Slate clak. They'll
come in for the full back as Calvin checks back
in the game. They'll give it a Calvin inside the five,
Calvin spinning his way into the end.
Speaker 3 (01:18:18):
Zone touchdown, Bulldogs, touchdown Dogs, six twenty nine left in
the third What an answer on this opening drive to
start the second half, and the Bulldogs put up six.
Speaker 2 (01:18:31):
Sixteen fourteen.
Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
We'll see what the Dogs try to do.
Speaker 4 (01:18:35):
They'll go for two because they off field goal to put.
Speaker 2 (01:18:38):
In my head in a minute, so the Dogs will
try to go for two and tie it up right here.
It looks like here with six twenty nine left in
the third quarter. What an opening drive and a statement
drive here in this start of the second half.
Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
You're not kidding Van Riggs. Great, great, said Coch. Dogs
all line up here on the near hash trying to
go for two. Jordan Waits is the run back and
Koby Key under center. Key play action, wants to throw
and Keith tosses it and he's got it the two points.
The conversion is good as if Brody Jones caught it
at the goal line. Key kept his eyes downfield and
(01:19:13):
we are tied with six twenty nine left in the
third sixteen unanswered for the Bulldogs. The Dogs were dead
to rights here at the men and they've rallied back
to tie it up with six twenty nine. We're back
after this time out a Lambert transfer in storage first
down all the way down the field. But it was
a score and try and power by Opal like of
(01:19:33):
Power Services, Hometown people working for you.
Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
And we're back right after this time. And Dogs kick
it short and it lands.
Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
In the field of play, and there's a scrabble throwing in.
Bulldogs got in the twenty two yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
Dogs got it.
Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
It landed in no man's laying. Nobody from Hoover got
it to The Dogs got in the twenty two yard line,
six twenty nine in the third quarter. Bulldog football, sixteen all,
and the Dogs are back with the football on a
great special teams kick by the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
Oh's miss Tammy and Miss Peggy were here. Wow, this
is awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
Dogs got it back at the Hoover twenty two yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
Come on, boys, run the dang football. Slade Clayton is
the fullback and Jordan arteched that Tommy Johnson in the game. Now,
first time we've seen Tommy. Tommy gets the handoff and Tommy's.
Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
Running it inside the twenty down around the eighteen yard
line of Hoover.
Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
That's gonna be a four yard pickup.
Speaker 4 (01:20:36):
David Miller, Kyle Lefferson, Jackson, Lee, Daish, Whitlow and Air Mason.
Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
Do you job up front, boys, Trey Sanders on the
stop there for Hoover.
Speaker 2 (01:20:47):
Jeremy's been spotting for me. I think they've done on
the Jumbo trying the whole game show who made the tackle?
We've been hand off the beat there on that one.
But second and six coming up dogs at the Hoover eighteen.
After the Dog's got the football back on the kickoff
after scoring and going for two, here's an inside give
to Blake Johnson and Johnson is gonna be close to
the first down. Johnson is down right at the fourteen
(01:21:09):
yard line. Late hit, no flag called on the end
of that one. Lay them on the stop for Hoover.
It'll be second down in two second, third and two.
It'll be third and two. You're right there and two,
third and two inside the fifteen down at the fourteen
yard line. Hurry up, tail bats set up down of
the fourteen yard line. I formation here on a third
(01:21:31):
and two quick hand off to Johnson, Johnson run the
left side. Johnson's got the first down and Johnson's close
to the five yard line before he's forced out of bounds.
And Hoover's saying they've got the football, but unlike he
was well out of bounds.
Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
And he was down on the place.
Speaker 2 (01:21:46):
So a first down run Lambert transfer and storage first
down by big Blake Johnson, big offensive line. We haven't
seen hughth Lee back in there, have we?
Speaker 6 (01:21:55):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
Have you had to signal first down? This little foul
and it's against the defense. Wow, personal foul against Hoover.
So that's gonna be after the play. And it was
already a first down. So half the distance to the goal,
Opelik is gonna be at the five yard line, first
in goal.
Speaker 3 (01:22:15):
What a play? Hold dogs, I'm just a believe in this.
Now tight at sixteen now here at the minute, with
five sixteen left in the third Hoover hasn't had the
football here in the second half, and it's an I
formation here for the Bulldogs. They'll give it them Johnson
Johnson left side, and he's here. Touchdown Bulldogs, Blake Johnson.
(01:22:36):
The hammer strikes again. Five twelve left in the third quarter,
and the Bulldogs have stormed back here at the met
twenty two sixteen and folks, that's twenty two unanswered points
after the Dogs trailed this Hoover team sixteen nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:22:53):
No Colley, I'm loving this. And the Dogs now bring
in the extra point team. They try to make this
a seven point ball game as Rhys Beasley will try
to put up the extra point. Good snap, good snap,
good hold, good kid Epperson will snap it. Good snapping.
(01:23:13):
Your kick is up, got it is good. Twenty three unanswered.
Speaker 3 (01:23:18):
Points for the Bulldogs of Opalaika, and they lead at
twenty three sixteen here at the mint with five twelve left,
and you're listening to bulldog football here on the kicker.
Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
Twenty three unanswered points for the Bulldogs of Opalaika. They
have storm back to take the lead here at the mint,
twenty three sixteen, with five twelve left in the third quarter.
Mac McCracken on the sidelines with the four seasons Federal
Credit Union sideline report. Man, oh my god, they're jacked over. Hey.
The kickoff last time, a little sand wedge just stuck
it right up. Here we go, the same thing, all right,
(01:23:57):
sure kick again and a fair catch called for by
who and they'll take it at the twenty three yard line.
So good deal position and Mac finish your report there.
Speaker 3 (01:24:04):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:24:05):
Man.
Speaker 10 (01:24:05):
Hey, we're doing what they asked them to do. At halftime,
they preached the shutout. They said they're not gonna score again.
They challenge the defense offensively, they said, we played like
the worst of the first half.
Speaker 2 (01:24:16):
We got risks. We're better, we're better, we're better, we're better.
Speaker 10 (01:24:20):
So they keep telling them at halftime, and the offense
is running the football, running the football, so we gotta
keep it going.
Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
They worry about that. They're jacked up. Hey, they are, Jay.
They're on their feet here at the men. Let's go
five twelve left and the third and a false start
thereby Hoover and a flag comes in. Hey, that's gonna
back up the Bucks five yards they were at the
twenty four. That'll back them up to the nineteen yard line.
And the energy across the way, folks, for those not
(01:24:50):
watching on TV, the Bulldog fans in the rolled in
metal bleachers are on their feet, and there's a lot
of Bulldog fans in the end zone in the seating
that's the permanent seating here at the Hoover Men. And
it will be a first and fifteen now for the Buccaneers.
They'll bring a man in motion from there on nineteen
Beason drops back throws here near side. It's caught by
(01:25:11):
Warren and he is tripped up and gonna go out
of bounds and around the twenty six yard line. So
a pick up a close to six yards. Devin Dixon
brings down Christopher Warren.
Speaker 3 (01:25:22):
Yeah, this will be a.
Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
Suck it down in seven comes too much now, don't
don't let them have that much. Gotta hold them here now.
Speaker 3 (01:25:32):
Boys.
Speaker 2 (01:25:34):
Hoover from their on twenty seven yard line, and again
it looks like they moved now I think they got
opal like on this one. Maybe well, we'll wait to
see you. It looks like an off signs against Opelikah.
So that's gonna be a five yard penalty to make
this a second down and two for the Bulldogs. Don't
do that. Come on, four man front. You got the
(01:25:55):
best defense in the state. Let's go hoover from there
on thirty two yard line. Trips right singer receiver to
the left side. Dogs look like they may be showing
pressure here as Beeson gets the snap here on third
and two. Tackled and wrapped up in the backfield there
he is. Tyler Moore brings him down back in the
thirty one yard line. A loss of one, it'll be
(01:26:16):
third down and four. Biggest play of the game right here,
biggest play of the game. Or actually he'll be third
and three where they market at the thirty one. I
think he's gonna chuck it.
Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
They'll need the thirty four.
Speaker 2 (01:26:28):
He's gonna he ain't gonna run it again, He's gonna
throw it. So big third down here for this full
out of defense. With four thirty six left in the
third quarter, Plonge leading twenty three sixteen j R. Moseley's
the tail back to the right of mac beeson quarterback
gets it. He wants to throw here near side, looks
back across the middle of.
Speaker 3 (01:26:46):
The field and is picked up by the Bulldogs, intercepted
by cort Ingram and a flag down And this may
be against the Bulldogs. That was a late flag thrown
over here on the side of Hoover, and I think
they're gonna get pass interference on Opalaika caught a late
flag against the Bulldogs, and boy, I didn't see it,
(01:27:12):
and that was a late flag after the interception, So
that's gonna wipe that off.
Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
And that will be a fifteen yard penalty. So four
twenty left and it'll be a first down after the
fifteen yard penalty after the forty six yard line, and
Hoover will have it first and ten. Come on, rip
so Bucks from there on forty six yard line, beson
out of the shotgun. He's got five wide empty backfield,
(01:27:42):
three right, two receivers left, four to twelve left. In
the third, Beason drops back, pressured flag down and he
falls down back of the thirty five yard line, and
I think we got a hold against the Bucks. We'll
wait and see as they sort this one out sport climb,
(01:28:02):
and we'll see that's a hold against Hoover, and damn,
I'll wait and see what Opelikah wants to do here.
I think Opelika is gonna move them back. Penalty is declined.
Yes it is, hey, smart, move yep so back at
the thirty five yard line this second and twenty Now,
(01:28:24):
Matt breathe the blood pressure machine up here. We're gonna
cough up Coach mccrack and the rest of the game here.
Make sure we keep him healthy here during this one.
Pressure pressure that boy. Under four minutes left in the third,
Hoover trailing Opelika twenty three sixteen in the Bucks for
the second down in twenty here. Pressure from there on
thirty six yard line. Bison gets the snamp and a
(01:28:45):
movement penalty against the Bucks. False start, bring them back
five more yards, move them back.
Speaker 4 (01:28:53):
Come on, boys, DJ Thomas, Lightfoot, Autry and Smiley.
Speaker 2 (01:28:58):
Let's go. So that'll send the Bucks back to the thirty.
They are visibly frustrated on my fence now. They're starting
to argue with each other as things are going south.
In a hurry and say, if the Bulldogs can get
a stop here, get the football back with their momentum offense,
things are good right now here at Hoover three forty
two left in the third and again Dogs leading twenty
(01:29:19):
three sixteen mass. He's got the three man maybe just
three rushing this time. Second down in twenty five here
for the Bucks. Beson gets the snap, drops back, pressure,
steps up in the pocket. Nowhere to go with that.
He's gonna scramble and run for it.
Speaker 3 (01:29:34):
And he's got a lane across midfield, and Beasting's all
the way to the Bulldog forty five yard line and
he's gonna be just short. They'll mark him at the
forty three are the forty seven.
Speaker 2 (01:29:45):
I should say he Sai three yard and three yard
Tyler Moore on the stop. It's gonna be third down
and one coming up for Hoover. But now they're kind
of in four down territory. Maybe he loaf the fox up.
He's a tough runner. There's six two point eighty nine senior.
He's got a third and two boat the box up
(01:30:05):
at the forty seven yard line of Opalaika. I got
five down. Anthony Allen is the tailback here for Beson
out of the shotgun. Two forty five left of the
third give it to the tailback trying to run near side.
He's got the first down as Allen still on his feet,
breaking tackles, and finally Carson Moss brings him down to
the thirty three.
Speaker 3 (01:30:23):
Boy.
Speaker 2 (01:30:23):
That was a great run there by Anthony Allen, fresh
set of legs, and he's down to the Opelikah thirty
three yard line. Come on, defense, you got your chance.
Speaker 3 (01:30:34):
Now come on.
Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
Two twenty five left here in the third quarter, Dogs
leading twenty three to sixteen, who were trying to get
some personnel shuffled in here. On this first and ten
play at the thirty three of Opalaiko. Beson two front
Beson out of the shotgun and Anthony Allen the tailback
and another false start against Hoover. Hoy something going on.
(01:31:01):
They're trying to get an early block. I think maybe
is that a Mari Smiley side coach. I think it
is Smiley. Is there is a just a man to
try to deal with on the outside, and I think
that right tackle is trying to get the early jump.
All right, come on, guys, this is all about big place.
Now stop big plays. Back to the thirty eight yard line.
(01:31:21):
It'll be first in fifteen. Now shuffling around is the
Hoover Buccaneers. They'll line trips in tight to the left
side and it'll give to Anthony Allen and he's hit
right at the line of scrimmage. That is Malik Autrey
on the stop and Maleik comes up, fired up, and
it'll be second down in fifteen for Hoover. One forty
one left in the third as we're lying down this
third quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:31:41):
Can't give them any plays, man, can't let them make
the first down here, come.
Speaker 2 (01:31:46):
On, boys. One thirty one clock continues to run here
in the third, Oblaca leading twenty three to sixteen over
Hoover to eat defense trying to get a stop here
for the Bulldogs. This is the first offensive series here
for Hoover. Here in the second half, trips right singer
receiver left for the Bucks. Second down and fifteen, Beson
drops back. Now all roll to the right, deep shot
(01:32:08):
towards the end zone, and it is timped nearly intercepted
by the Bulldogs. Devin Dixon almost came down with it
at the three yard line. It's gonna be third down
and it will be third and long coming up here
for Hoover. Dixon gambled on that one and almost intercepted.
If it gets over his head. That was their touchdown.
What's the big man coming out for? I think his
(01:32:30):
helmet came off, coach, so he's gonna have to come
out a play and we'll see a couple of substitutions
coming in defensively here some fresh legs. It's third down
and thirteen con defense right, turned down and right at
fifteen here for Hoover. Beson gets the snap play action.
Beson gets pressured now will roll to his right, dumps
(01:32:52):
it off and overshot his intended man, Christopher Warren. It's incomplete.
Speaker 6 (01:32:56):
Oi.
Speaker 2 (01:32:56):
Warren wanted that one back because he was wide opening
to thirty and Beson over shot him. It'll be fourth
down to hover to far for a field goal. Yes,
fourth and fifteen at the thirty eight of Opelaiko. Here come.
We got our big boys back in there, and I'll
see if they try to pin Opalika deep. We've seen
the quarterback Beson, Yeah, he might, he might kick. They'll
(01:33:17):
send Jamari Miller back deep, and Beson stands at a
little further back here like he may try.
Speaker 3 (01:33:22):
To come on boot it.
Speaker 2 (01:33:23):
No, I think they're gonna they're gonna throw it. Come on,
all right, Beson, Now we'll step back. It looks like
he will try to poops kick it. Fair catch called
for by Miller, and he caught it at the eight
yard line. Good stop by the defense. Dog's offense will
come out first and ten from their own eight yard
line with just fifty seven seconds left here in this
(01:33:44):
third quarter. Let's head now Mac McCracken with the four
seasons Federal Credit Unions sideline report.
Speaker 10 (01:33:48):
Opelika. That is a great stop right there by our defense.
They still go in with the zero shut out.
Speaker 2 (01:33:54):
Pops.
Speaker 10 (01:33:55):
Here's fifteen to seven seconds left to go here before
the third good sustained offensive drive. Run the football, mix
it up, and let's get a long drive here, and
let's put up this.
Speaker 2 (01:34:06):
Calvin's been running the football. We looked out of him, Dad.
He's been in there for about thirty players. A right good.
He's back in there now with Slade Clayton running the
full back spot. As the Dogs have it from their
own nine yard line. It'll get Calvin the handoff and
Calvin up for three yards to the twelve yard line.
Tour Boar comes in and makes the stop. Got about
(01:34:28):
three yard, nap, you got about three? Okay, it's good, coach.
They've got a running back or a linebacker, I should say,
Cameron tor Boar. You may remember Reggie Torboard that played
at Auburn. That's his son playing linebacker there for Hoover.
Speaker 4 (01:34:41):
Got you Meller, Epperson, Lee, Whitlow, and Mason do you job, boys?
Speaker 2 (01:34:46):
Come on, suck it down at seven, knock him off
theotball Dogs from their on twelve yard line. Key out
of the shotgun gets the snap they handed to Calvin,
and he is hitting the backfield. And Calvin goes down
right at the ten yard line, and it's gonna bring
up third and long. Dogs not wanting to make a
mistake here deep backed up in their own near their
(01:35:06):
own end zone. Here at the ten, it'll be third
down and ten, but we'll take it to the fourth
quarter for the third quarter or for the third down play,
and that will be the end of the third Dogs
lead at twenty three sixteen and the third down and
ten coming up for the Bulldogs when we start the
fourth quarter after this time out. You're listening to Bulldog
football here on the kicker, it'll be a third down
(01:35:33):
for the Bulldogs as we start the fourth quarter, open
like a leading twenty three sixteen, and it looks like
it'll be kolbe Kee going with two backs in the backfield.
Here on this third and ten play, Dogs for their
own ten yard line. Here on this third down play,
Key gets the snap, fakes it to do, hangs it,
hands it to Johnson. Johnson still on his feet. Johnson's
spinning his way up close to the first down, and
(01:35:54):
Johnson's got it.
Speaker 3 (01:35:55):
I think up near the twenty yard line. It what
a run by the hammer play.
Speaker 2 (01:36:00):
Johnson is he does he have it? He's close. No
signal yet. I know they're singing fourth down, Oh boy,
fourth and one boy.
Speaker 3 (01:36:14):
Really close.
Speaker 2 (01:36:15):
I think they're gonna measure there's an official timeout, or
is there is somebody hurting Mac? We got an injury timeout?
Or are they gonna measure Mike. I think he's got
a cramp right now. I don't think they're gonna measure.
He's a yard short. Okay, yard short? All right? Eleven
thirty five left boy Johnson all most picked it up
near the twenty yard line. They got him down at
the nineteen and needed that twenty for the first down.
Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
Are you gonna punt?
Speaker 2 (01:36:37):
Riggs? All right? You gonna punt? Coach? Every fan and
oh block wants us to go for the Well, you
know you're on your old nineteen yard line. Defense is
pretty fired up, so alright, all right, I'll go. I
know the hammer is pretty automatic. I don't know, but
(01:36:57):
we need a great punt here day come it. Well,
almost got it at the nineteen. The'll be fourth down
and here's Zion Henderson to punt it away. Henderson gets
the snap and high hanging punt and I didn't take
a great opal likea role at all. And Hoover's gonna
have it around the forty three yard lines or good
(01:37:17):
field position. Didn't quite get the distance on that one
that Henderson wanted to, I know. And with eleven fourteen left,
Hoover will have it at the Opalika forty three yard line.
So defense gonna have to come out and get a stop.
Maybe another turnover. Almost got a turnover the last time.
That's what this game's all about. A defense. Show the
(01:37:38):
Buccaneers first and ten at the opal Aka forty three
opal like a leading twenty three sixteen eleven fourteen left
in this game here at the Hoover met got to
make a big play on first down. Now we can't
give them any We can't give them a first down.
Beeson has been off in this second half, throwing the football.
Hopefully that can continue. Anthony Allen's the tail back to
his right for man Bulldog's loading up the defensive line.
(01:38:00):
They'll throw far sideline. It's caught and down the sidelines.
At around the thirty eight yard line was Number two
Jeremiah tab As court Inger forced him out of bounds,
but a good throw, good catch too much at six
yards line up, boys, Let's go steck it down and
for at the thirty six yard line. Another quick throw
far side and nice tackle over there on the far side.
(01:38:24):
As they wrapped up and stopped him. Tremaine Thomas was
over there. Third down and two van Avery Crawford on
the reception. It'll be third down and two coming up
for Hoover. But this is four down territory for them.
Stack the box at the thirty five yard line of Opalaika.
Stack the box. Well, you gotta watch that deep pass
two from Hoover. Yeah, they might do it here. Secondary
(01:38:45):
creeps in here. You gotta watch that deep pass. Come on,
Anthony Allen the tailback here. Third down and two at
the thirty five of Opalaika, besing, signaling things out, befence,
checking things off. They'll hand fake it now, throw back
inside and it is caught for a first down inside
the thirty down to the twenty eight yard line. That'll
be enough for a Hoover first down. Hunter Perdue on
(01:39:07):
the reception, Come on, def for the Buccaneers, so down
to the twenty eight. That was a quick seven yard
throwing ketch for the Bucks. Kiting up, pulling them a
little bit out there. Don't let them catch out little
short pass out there. Ten twelve left here in the
ball game, and Hoover with the football there trail by
a touchdown twenty three sixteen ten oh seven and the
clock running here in the fourth quarter, or man front
(01:39:31):
beasting out of the shotgun, gets the stamp handed off
to Allen, and Alan stood up there and not much
there and out of the twenty five yard line. He
picked up three yards. If ty Hudson the linebacker comes
up and makes the stop too much, too much, Come
on boys, second down and seven coming up here for
the Bucks. Nine forty left in our game. The clock
(01:39:54):
continues to run one play, one play each play. Come on,
come on, d somebody make a big play over here.
Beson checking the sidelines long look as they let that
play clock get down to down to ten, down to nine,
game clock nine twenty two and running come Beason out
of the shot and gun. He's got Allen to his
(01:40:15):
left and two wide outs either side. Beeson drops back,
steps up in the pocket and just dumps it off
to Allen at.
Speaker 3 (01:40:21):
The twenty yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:40:22):
Broke a tackle fifteen inside the ten and Allen brought
down at the six yard line. Ty Hudson there with
a stop. It'll be first in goal. Bucks at the
six yard line. A nineteen yard little dump off pass
to the running back out of the backfield, and now
Hoover's got it first and goal at the six nine
minutes left in the game, twenty three to sixteen.
Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
But Hoover.
Speaker 2 (01:40:45):
Trying to tie this one up here as the Bulldogs
lead it by seven quarterback drawl play and Beason's hit
at the goal line and lunges ahead of the end
zone and he is in for the Hoover touchdown with
eight forty seven left here in the ballgame, and Hoover
a point after draw away from tying this one up
on the quarterback draw play from Mac Beeson Buccanteers bringing
(01:41:09):
in the extra point team Matthew Davis for the extra
point snap down and the extra point up and good,
so Hoover has tied it up twenty three to twenty three,
eight forty seven left here in the ball game. We're
(01:41:30):
back after this thirty second time out. You're listening to
Bulldog football here on the kicks, Bulldogs said to get
the football back as Hoover ties it up a Mac
Beeson quarterback draw from six yards out, and it's a
twenty three to twenty three game, end over end kick
(01:41:51):
and that will sail down to the one yard line
and the Dogs will try to return it across the
fifteen across the twenty good return up to the twenty
three yard line, and Dogs close to the twenty four
yard line. That was Jalen Washington on the return for
the Bulldog. So sorry thirty nine left good return there
by Jalen. And let's see if the Bulldog offense can
(01:42:12):
march down the field. And let's let's let's take off
eight minutes and twenty three seconds or maybe eight thirty nine.
Let's punch it out to do and it's gonna be
all four down territory. I'm just telling you we got
a man up right here. So the Bulldogs will have
it from their on twenty four yard line. First and
ten Bulldogs snap goes to key. They'll hand it to
(01:42:34):
Calvin Huglely right side. Hey, Calvin, not bunch there. As
Calvin got to the twenty five and picked up one yard,
Hoover getting good on the run.
Speaker 3 (01:42:45):
Game here is.
Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
If it's a tackle here, now, come on, Brandon Rudolph
on the stop there for Hoover. Eight seventeen. The clock
continues to run. Second out of nine Dogs that are
on twenty five here in a tie to Tree twenty three,
game eight eleven left. They'll bring a man in motion now,
they'll give it to Calvin. Here's a good run play
across the thirty Calvin across the thirty five, across the
(01:43:08):
forty and Calvin's got a first down up close to
the forty four yard line. A Lambert transfer in storage
first down. Good job run Karon Torboor on the stop,
but Calvin carries it up to the forty four. That's
nineteen yards on that run by Calvin Hugley. Come on, buddy,
come on, seven fifty two left. That motion from Miller
(01:43:30):
really opened up that name. It sure did it, Sure
did Jordan Wait's checks in the ball game.
Speaker 3 (01:43:35):
The running back.
Speaker 2 (01:43:37):
They'll bring Jamari Miller in motion from right to left,
and a flag on the play motion penalty against the Bulldog.
So that will back up up like a five yards
back to the thirty nine yard line. Twenty three, twenty three,
seven thirty nine to go here at the Hoover met
sixteen nothing. Hoover jumped out to an early lead. The
Dog storm back with twenty three unanswered. Hoover has tied
(01:43:59):
it up here in this fourth quarter and mate, we
can't make these little mistakes. Now, come on seven thirty
two left under center Colby Key. They'll move Jamari Miller
in motion, the quick inside handoff again to Johnson and
that time defended pretty well. That play has been tough.
(01:44:19):
Trey Sanders on the stop short pickup, second down an
eleven coming up here for hope, like a four yards
there by Johnson still good on that quick inside handoff.
Plenty of time, plenty of time. So the Dogs that
there on forty three yard line. It'll be second and
eleven high formation here for the Bulldogs. Late Clayton is
(01:44:44):
the full back man Shortan Waits the tailbag. Waits gets
the handoff. No, that's Tommy Johnson. Nice move up to
the forty seven yard line. That'll be a four yard
pickup and a set up a third down and eight.
(01:45:07):
And it is getting loud in the met bit play
third and nine, they'll say, but I think it's third
and eight where this one day? Third down eight, Kobe
Key out of the shotgun boy, the sophomore needs to
make a play here. Tommy Johnson is the tailback. They'll
(01:45:28):
bring Jamori Miller in motion from left to right and
Kobe drops back, got some time, rolls to his right
in trouble throws and it is incomplete, intended for Brody
Jones on the sideline, and it'll be fourth down, Hope, Polaika.
(01:45:49):
Looks like they'll have to bring the punting team out
here on fourth and eight from their on forty five
yard line, So hopefully they can get a good punt
here by Zion Henderson to pin this Hoover offense back,
but tied up here. Twenty three twenty three, six point
fifteen remaining here in this ball game, everything from here
on out is very crucial.
Speaker 3 (01:46:10):
Missing a man.
Speaker 2 (01:46:13):
And the dogs got to get a lake man out
here are They were bringing two out and got one out.
Still plenty of time down to twenty three, down to
twenty two and a good snap and Zion this time
puts a good boot into this one fair catch quickly
(01:46:34):
called for. He dropped it but fell on it at
the eighteen yard line the Hoover return man and Hoover
will have it first and ten from there on eighteen
six eight, remaining here in this fourth quarter, let's head
down Mac mccrack and mac Fiefit's got to get a
big stop here.
Speaker 10 (01:46:49):
Yeah, we're gonna put it on the shoulders guys. They yeah,
they're just asking everything out of the man.
Speaker 2 (01:46:54):
They know what they gotta do. So let's say, if
we can get that old dad.
Speaker 10 (01:46:58):
You're talking about, that little lucky you gotta have in
these things. Yeah, since we get a turnover right here,
Miss THEA said, we'll get a turnover.
Speaker 2 (01:47:06):
Well, it was the defense coming up with the plays
in the central game, and we'll see if they can
make the plays lad in this one against Hoover in
a tie twenty three to twenty three game. Hoover has
it from their own nineteen yard line, they'll say, and
a quick you know, quarterback keeper, He'll dump it across
the middle. It's caught at the thirty yard line and
a nice tackle there by cord Ingram at the thirty
seven yard line. But a good pick up there for
(01:47:28):
eighteen yards and a Hoover first down on a little
play act run pass option RPO. Right there, you got it,
got it, defend it, and Hoover's got a first down
from their own thirty seven yard line. Trips right, single
receiver to the left side. Vson out of the shotgun
dog showing pressure here five forty four left in the
fourth quarter. We're tied at twenty three and Hoover with
(01:47:52):
the football from they're on thirty seven. Vson gets the shotguns.
Speaker 3 (01:47:57):
Now wants to go quarterback drawl and he was hit
it upstate on his feet, bounced it outside and he
got a first down car close to it right at
the first down marker.
Speaker 2 (01:48:06):
They'll say he's up to the forty seven yard line.
Now that was a nine yard pickup, and they say
enough for a first down a third down, Well they
had they were moving the chains. Third down and one,
so they got it. Mark's second down and one from
(01:48:29):
the forty six. Come on, Dave so second down and
one Bson out of the shotgun. Two receivers right Singer
receiver to the left side. Beson gets the snamp throws
far side of the field. It's called across midfield at
the forty nine yard line, and that's Gardner on the
(01:48:52):
reception for the first down, five yard throwing catch to
Mary and Gardner on the reception. Court Inger was there
on the stop the Bulldogs Hoover and now at the
opal like a forty nine yard line, just five fourteen
left in the game, tied up here at twenty three,
you've got to make a play van four man front
five oh seven left beasting out of the shotgun. He's
(01:49:16):
got two receivers right, single receiver to the left side,
and here is j R. Moseley on the kerry and
Moseley down to the forty four yard line. That is
going to be close to five yards. Ty Hudson the
linebacker up on the stop. It'll be second down in
five coming up here, four of the bucks at the
forty five of Opalaika four to forty two clock running
(01:49:37):
here in the fourth quarter, quick snap, they'll hand it
back inside and there's Maleik Autry with a big time
stop on the running back. And that time Jr. Moseley
nowhere to go as he ran right into a brick wall.
And it was named Maleek Autry. Now this is gonna
be that little throw right here, and this will be
third down and six. This is another third down. Well
(01:49:57):
God did not let him conft this third and seven
almost seven. Anthony Allen checks in the ball game the
running back. Third down and seven, four in front a
loss of two on that play by Malik Autry. Four
man front.
Speaker 3 (01:50:14):
They're gonna try to dump dump them off quick two
right single receiver to the left side.
Speaker 2 (01:50:18):
Allen is the tailback. Beason drops back, steps up in
the pocket. He's scrambling all around. He's dropped back about
twenty yards running here near side, and he has stiff
arms and defender stays on his feet and he's.
Speaker 3 (01:50:29):
Brought down back of the thirty eight yard line. Amari
Smiley sacks basing back at the thirty eight yard line,
a huge sack all the way back in the thirty
eight yard line. There's the defensive play.
Speaker 2 (01:50:43):
You hated it.
Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
Fourth, Damn there it was fourth. And Ope, Laika coming
up here for Hoover.
Speaker 2 (01:50:50):
All right, shout out to Miss Jennifer. We're fixing to
get him here back and Miss Betty Mitchell I, hope
you're listening back in opal like and doing well tonight,
listening in glad you're back home tonight, and hope you're
enjoying this one. Twenty three, twenty three, here's Hoover to
punt it away. A slow walk up man, they'll let
(01:51:12):
it roll, Oh god. And it takes a big Hoover
roll out of bounds that around the sixteen yard line.
So that time the punter just kind of gradually walked up.
Let us kick team get down field, and then it
took a good hoover roll Opalaika will have it, but
it's gonna be around the eighteen yard line where the
Bulldogs will have it. Three oh one, and the game
(01:51:32):
for the Bulldogs here tied at twenty three. Mag McCracken off,
its needs a drive.
Speaker 10 (01:51:37):
Here it does bucket, buckle up by and bite opal
like or route pray, whatever you gotta do. Let's get
a good old drive here and either put it through
the uprights or put it across the goal line.
Speaker 2 (01:51:50):
All right, dogs, we'll have it from their own nineteen
yard line. Just two three oh one left here in
the ball game. Jamari Miller goes in motion. It'll be
an inside hand off this is, and Calvin gonna be
stood up and around the twenty two yard line. Calvin
picked up three yards on the play, and this will
be second down and seven coming up here for the Bulldogs.
(01:52:12):
Just two forty five left in the game, tied at
twenty three. Here at the hoover met Julian Pritchett will
check in the ballgame. He lines up in the tight
end position to the right Bulldogs lining everybody in tight
going old school life formation here, Blake Johnson is the
full back and Calvin is the tailback. Key under center,
(01:52:34):
and they'll give it to Johnson and Johnson is cut
down shy of the twenty four yard line. That's give
him the twenty four and that is a two yard pickup.
DK Bolden on the stop for the Bucks. And this
will be third down and five coming up. We'll call
(01:52:55):
time out.
Speaker 3 (01:52:57):
We did time out on the field.
Speaker 2 (01:53:00):
It's third down and five coming up here for the Bulldogs,
so we'll step aside quick time out as well. Tied
at twenty three, third and five for the Bulldogs. When
we come back here on the kicking could be the
player of the game coming up here for the Bulldogs.
Needing to convert here, Tied at twenty three, you don't
want to give the football back to Hoover the Dogs.
(01:53:21):
Third and five from their own twenty four yard line.
Calvin Hugley is to the right of kolbe Key Dogs
from their own twenty four yard line. Jamari Miller goes
in motion. They'll give it back to Johnson and Johnson
getting pushed ahead across the twenty five up to the
twenty six, gonna be short of the first down and
(01:53:41):
Hoover gets the stop they needed. Looks like they were
kind of sniffing that one out and coach English comes
in and calls a time out here with two o
four left, as the Dogs will have to punt it
back to Hoover with two o four to go. Hoy
to you from their coach.
Speaker 4 (01:53:58):
That was.
Speaker 2 (01:54:01):
That's a tough, tough offensive play there, God, and it'll
be fourth and three time out on the field. We'll
take a quick time out. You're listening to bulldog football
here on the kicker. Well, the dog's not able to
convert on third down and five. It's fourth and three
(01:54:24):
in the punning team out and Opelaikah will punt it
away Boss spid it from their own twenty six yard line.
Hoover will try to get good field positioned here and
Dogs shift over to the right. No movement there by
Hoover and a good snap Zion Henderson. It's a high
booming boot into this one, but it's going to be
a short kick and it's going to take a good
(01:54:45):
roll though for Opelaika and Opelika're gonna let it roll
down around the thirty four yard line, so that one
took a really good role, and Hoover will have it
from their own thirty four yard line one fifty to
one left. In a tie game, coach field goal here
from Hoover would win it. More than likely. Any kind
of score here would be very tough for the Dogs.
(01:55:07):
But the opel Aika coach needs that turnover here. Maybe
we can get that fumble, that interception that misk you
from Hoover. They really haven't made many tonight except for
that that kick mistake they had where they let the
the short kick from Opalaika land on the turf. Nick
gonna run those RPOs again. I believe Hoover's got it
(01:55:30):
from their own thirty four yards three man front, three
man and a two wide receiver. Look either side here,
one fifty one left. Beson drops back. It's gonna throw
here near side, and it is caught and hauled in
by Christopher Warren, and.
Speaker 3 (01:55:46):
He is gonna be up close to midfield, up to
the forty.
Speaker 2 (01:55:48):
Eight yard line, and that is a fourteen yard pickup.
Got to get a pick six here, that will be nice.
Three guys, one forty five left. We're tied up here
at twenty three, but Hoover with the football with just
one forty five left. They've got it from their on
(01:56:09):
forty seven yard line. First and ten, Beson out of
the shotgun, steps up in the pocket, wants to run
now and slips one tackle and forced out of bounds.
Malik Autrey pushes him out right a yard pick up
up to the forty eight yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:56:26):
That'll set up a second down and nine.
Speaker 2 (01:56:28):
That's good job, Malik boy here in this taj Mahal,
you'd love to get a pick six and win this
ball game here.
Speaker 3 (01:56:34):
For the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (01:56:35):
Yes, their second and nine.
Speaker 3 (01:56:38):
Tied at twenty three.
Speaker 2 (01:56:39):
Here, he's going to have to chuck another one second
down and nine, one thirty seven left and Hoover trying
to pass their way down the field. Need a misk
you here by this quarterback Beson out of the shot
and gun here on second and nine. Pressure comes Beson
here as he throws and it's incomplete. He took a
shot from Carson Moss and Bson has slowed get up
(01:57:00):
back at the thirty six yard line. Great pressure brought
there by Adam Massey's defense. They just missed getting to
the quarterback for a big hit and maybe a fumble.
That's a big play. Yep, thirdy nine coming up for Hoover.
One thirty two left here in this game, tied at
twenty three, thirty nine Bucks for their on forty eight
yard line. Come on, we got the three man front again.
(01:57:23):
They brought four last time. Hoover moving from right to left.
Bulldog fans on their feet across the way. Come on,
come on, d wide out left side, wide out to
the right side, and the tailback is Anthony Allen.
Speaker 3 (01:57:36):
They'll move a man in motion.
Speaker 5 (01:57:37):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:57:38):
Beson gets the snap flush side of the pocket, rolls
to his left, now goes back here near side, trying
to dump it off, and it is caught at the
midfield and he's out of bounds though, right at the fifty.
And there's a flag down on the play. This could
be an ineligible man down field. It is on the
line of scrimmage. So let's see it is an ineligible
man downfield and that will be against that Buccaneers a
(01:58:03):
big penalty. Yeah, that's a loss of down. An eligible
man downfield against the Bucks.
Speaker 4 (01:58:11):
That's a loss of down. I think how many yards
is that man? Fifteen?
Speaker 2 (01:58:19):
I'll have to wait and check the white hat here
for the official call on the play. Why so one
twenty one A big call here. Jamie Ferguson, the interim
coach comes out. He wants to get some clarification here
on this one. And this is where being the interim
coach is big. Got to make these crucial decisions here
(01:58:42):
laid in a ballgame here with one twenty one left,
Mac a huge call here. Now, I think that's a
loss of down. It's fourth down. I don't think the
official yet it is a loss of down, so it's
fourth down. Big stop there by the Bulldogs. This white
(01:59:04):
hat has been very timid to make calls tonight. He's
kind of almost like he's unsure what signal to do.
Now when Fat goes back there, they need to rush
this guy. This is a second round playoff game, and
I don't know. I mean, I've got critical on officials,
but he's touched the wrong signal about two.
Speaker 3 (01:59:20):
Or three times tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:59:22):
Catch the ball, Fat Fat stands around the thirty just
one to twenty one left, Hoover getting ready to punt
it back here in a tie twenty three to twenty
three ball game and an end over in kick and
it will take a Opalika roll to the twenty six
yard line. So the Bulldogs with one eleven left a
chance here to win this thing twenty three to twenty three.
(01:59:42):
And we know the Bulldogs have the strength and the
kicking department. Here all Opalaika would need as a field goal.
Speaker 3 (01:59:48):
Coach McCracken, Oh wait, we got to make about thirty
five yards in a minute and eleven seconds.
Speaker 2 (01:59:54):
I want to see if the ground game can get
going here. Bulldogs with three timeouts here tied it twenty three,
one to eleven. Left here at the Hoover met Opelikah
back with the football, and Opelikah has it from their
own twenty six yard line. Come on, boys, two receivers
to the left side, a single receiver to the right.
Calvin Hugley is the tailback. They'll bring Jamari in motion
(02:00:17):
and they'll give it to Calvin. He's wrapped up in
the backfield. Back at the twenty yard line. They'l say
Ford progress around the twenty one but a five yard
loss and that time Hoover all over that run. We
lost six yards on that plate. Now, if we're running
the clock out and getting over time, I think that
(02:00:38):
may be what the coaching staff is thinking now down
to forty four, down to forty three, and down to
thirty seven. Two wide outs to the left side and
Cole we're gonna throw here nearside, try to get out
to Miller and Miller out of bounds at the twenty
six yard line. Just could not break it down the sidelines.
(02:01:00):
A clock stopped with twenty seven seconds left, and you
may not really want to stop the clock if you're
trying to run it out here, because that's gonna stop
it here on third now with twenty seven seconds left,
and Hoover's gonna burn a time out here if Opelika
didn't pick up this first down, and then Opelikea is
gonna have to punt it back to Hoover. Hoover with
(02:01:23):
one timeout, opel I can now from their on twenty
six yard line, third and ten, twenty three seconds, twenty three,
twenty three, just twenty seven seconds left, and it'll be
a handoff.
Speaker 3 (02:01:34):
There's Calvin with a first down. Run Calvin across the
forty up to the forty one, Lambert transferring storage first
down and quickly the Bulldogs call a timeout with twenty
one seconds left and eight chance for another player too.
Maybe dog still with two timeouts left, and we'll step
aside a quick timeout twenty three twenty three, twenty one
(02:01:55):
seconds left back in thirty seconds right here on the
kick Bulldogs out of the time out first and ten
from their own forty one yard line, twenty one seconds
left here to tie twenty three to twenty three game.
Speaker 2 (02:02:12):
Kobe drops back and it's gonna be sacked at the
thirty five yard line, and that may in this regulation
period here. I think Opolka is gonna be content with
not taking a time out, as Kobe was lucky to
hang on to that football. And we're getting some extra
football here tonight at the Hoover met Why not second
(02:02:34):
round playoffs twenty three twenty three at the end of
regulation we head to overtime. When we come back, you're
listening to bulldog football here on the kicker all right.
For the second time tonight we had down on the
field for Mac McCracken.
Speaker 9 (02:02:55):
As the fus talking dog all rights bik or to
defend right off the Dons rod of the chips.
Speaker 2 (02:03:05):
That's over the ball, you call me there, Well got.
Speaker 10 (02:03:14):
Head when the ball fardery fense first and that'side down
the defense over here?
Speaker 2 (02:03:19):
Do you want the ball?
Speaker 4 (02:03:20):
Right?
Speaker 3 (02:03:22):
All right?
Speaker 2 (02:03:22):
Sopolaika will get the football first as we start overtime
here twenty three twenty three is our score at the
end of regulation, we head to overtime and both teams
will start at the ten yard line, and of course
Opelika scores a touchdown, Hoover will have to match it
with a touchdown or the game will be over. Hoover
(02:03:42):
has been an overtime game this season. They won it
against Thompson by a field goal as they blocked the
extra point and then they scored and kick the extra
point to win it. You know what I like about this?
For though we got our best folks in there, we
do pretty good from the ten yard line going in
(02:04:06):
and so this may be a big advantage here. It's
Jamie Ferguson coming out trying to get some clarification from.
Speaker 3 (02:04:18):
The white hat.
Speaker 2 (02:04:19):
We wants it at the winn, Yeah, he does. They
said they wanted the football at the other end. They
picked two things, and stay they don't get to pick
two things. I don't think all right, mag what do
you think about overtime? Well, coach said, if we lose
or if we lost, the toss. He got the ball.
Speaker 3 (02:04:37):
We want to go towards our fans down here in
this end zone.
Speaker 10 (02:04:40):
So they're gonna they're greeting us right here with a
warm welcome, and like Dad said, hey, we're on the
ten yard line. Guys, blood's wet and tears. They've given
it all they've had. Yeah, the way they stayed, the
way they've started off, and the way they are now,
it's not to but fired up people on the sideline,
they know what they've got to do. And this, you know,
(02:05:00):
ten yards and overtime. You got to get in there
to give you a defense, a chance to stop them.
But we got here, we gotta get a touchdown, got
to I think this is a good formation for us well.
Speaker 2 (02:05:12):
And Opelika is going to be heading towards their marching
band too, and that will mean Hoover's gonna have to
go towards their marching band. Opeli like are frustrated getting
lined up. I'm not sure what was going on there,
But as we start overtime, we're tied at twenty three,
(02:05:32):
and for fans around the state tuning in, we're glad
you're with us here. Kobe Key out of the shotgun,
they'll bring Jamari Miller in motion and they'll hand it
to Calvin. Calvin nice step inside just down to the
nine yard line though, and Calvin picked up one yard,
just couldn't break through. I gotta do better than that, boys,
So ought'll be second down in nine. And we mentioned
(02:05:54):
Hoover with a really good kicking kick blocking team. They
blocked that extra point against Hoover. That's something Opolike is
gonna have to be. We gotta beat them at the
line of scrimmage right here. Off, Yeah, I formation here,
old school football here with Blake Johnson and Calvin Hugley
at the nine yard line. Second down and goal from
the nine here in overtime, first overtime period, and it'll
(02:06:17):
be a quick hand off to Blake Johnson. Blake goes
left and Blake inside the five and Blake's down to
the four yard line. Great run there by Blake Johnson
five yards and it'll be third and goal from the four.
I got to go two tight ends and run Blake again.
Trey Sanders on the stop for Hoover. It'll be third
(02:06:38):
and goal for the Bulldogs from the four here in
this first overtime possession. Here, oplelicha will have to make
a decision here if they get close to that goal
line here, I formation again here with Johnson and Calvin Hugley.
They'll take it to Calvin and Kolby wanted to throw
(02:06:58):
and it is not till and boy Rody wanted to fly.
Thought he got grauded from behind at the four yarn line,
but didn't get the call. And it'll be fourth and
goal from the four and we'll see Opelke, I'm sure
bring out the field goal team here, as you've got
to put some points on the board a little too
long from that end zone here on fourth and four
(02:07:21):
twenty three to twenty three, and this will be Rehyes
Beasley for the extra point. As we mentioned, Hoover's got
a real good blocking unit here. Brody Jones taking his time.
He's the holder checking the sidelines here. It'll be from
the left hash to try to put three up here
in the first overtime possession.
Speaker 3 (02:07:42):
Go ahead, coach.
Speaker 2 (02:07:45):
I think Opelke is going to take a time out,
so opelikall will burn a time out here. I think
this one over here twenty three, twenty three, and we're
back after this time out. You're listening to Bulldog football.
Here on the kicker, Dogs calling a time out, and
(02:08:10):
here comes the field goal team out here in the
first overtime possession. Here we're tied at twenty three and
Dogs will try to put up three. Here, Brody Jones
comes to the line of scrimmage trying to change things
up here. Looks like now he gets back set now
(02:08:30):
to put this one through Reese Beasley for the field goal.
Good snap down and the field goal is up and
it is good.
Speaker 3 (02:08:40):
So the Dogs put up three and with a stump,
Bulldogs will win it with a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (02:08:45):
Hoover will win it. Twenty six twenty three, Hoover's ball.
When we come back, you're listening to bulldog football. Here
on the kicker, Hoover comes out for their first possession
in overtime. A touchdown will win it. They'll need a
feel goal to keep going. Twenty six twenty three, Bulldogs
with the lead. Beason with the first play from scrimmage,
(02:09:05):
and there is a flag on the play and a
time out called by Hoover. So time out taken by Hoover.
Un Let's head down on the field. Mac McCracken with
a four seasons Federal Credit Union sideline report. Mac. The
defense came up with a stop so many times this season.
Maybe a turnover here, a pick, an interception can win
(02:09:26):
this thing.
Speaker 10 (02:09:26):
Yeah, they did all they They're trying so hard and
this is the one.
Speaker 2 (02:09:31):
This is the big one. Boys.
Speaker 10 (02:09:33):
Just keep them out and like you said, Van hay Ban,
you know that quarterback's good at scrambling, but you know
if he can just turn it loose or something here
and we get a turnover. But he is ten yards
ten yards from a semi final berth here to stop them.
So if you're in an opal lock and listening in
wherever you are, just they can start sharing them on pray,
whatever you want to do.
Speaker 2 (02:09:54):
These dogs have felt so hard. They need you support
through this last set here. All right, it's getting loud
on the mac. Mac beeson the quarterback out of the
shotgun formation. He's got trips to the right side, single
receiver left. This is the first play from scrimmage for
Hoover in overtime. They trail by three. Beson gets the snamp,
goes for the home run in the end zone and
(02:10:14):
it is incomplete out of bounds, and they wanted a flag,
but the wide receiver fell down good defense. I think
over there by Devin Dixon wown Yeah, no flag called
second down in ten, second in goal from the ten,
and Opalaika's defense getting fired up. They're wanting their fans
to get loud. Twenty six, twenty three in overtime. Here,
(02:10:40):
a touchdown will win it for Hoover. Come on, and
a defensive stop for the Bulldogs will win it. Five
men front for the Dogs, two whiteouts either side. A
turnover also will win it.
Speaker 3 (02:10:52):
Jr.
Speaker 2 (02:10:52):
Moseley gets to the right of Beeson. Beson gets the snamp,
wants to run the quarterback drawl, and.
Speaker 3 (02:10:58):
He stays on his feet and he goes towards the
end zone and he is down at the one.
Speaker 2 (02:11:04):
Hoover thought he was in. They marked him down at
the one. Now they say touchdown. Oh I thought the
one judge said he was down. The other said touchdown.
And they come together and talk. I thought they said
he was down. Talk about a call here. They've yet
(02:11:29):
to make a signal. Of course they don't. They've been
going back and forth all night. What's the call? They're
going to mark him down at the one, so this
will be third and goal from the one.
Speaker 3 (02:11:46):
Boy, What a call?
Speaker 2 (02:11:47):
There.
Speaker 3 (02:11:47):
Boy, the one.
Speaker 2 (02:11:48):
Official came in and said touchdown, and then they marked
him down at the one, so it'll be third in
gold from the one boy. Let's see if the big
guys can get a push here. One yard line. Almost
of the ball game. But Dogs will get a second
chance at it. Here back VSA out of the shotgun
(02:12:10):
formation again. The tailback is JR.
Speaker 3 (02:12:12):
Moseley.
Speaker 2 (02:12:12):
Come on, Dogs, get a stop.
Speaker 3 (02:12:16):
Vison.
Speaker 2 (02:12:16):
The quarterback runs right stopped.
Speaker 3 (02:12:18):
They got him in the backfield, did not get in
fourth dawn, it'll be fourth and goal. What a stop?
What a stop? And now we'll see if Hoover tries
to gamble and go for the win or put the
field goal up.
Speaker 2 (02:12:32):
Decision time for Hoover. I think they're running on the
field goal team. Boy, go for it, coach. I think
the defense is gonna get a stop. No, he brings
the field goal team in. Well, let's block this thing,
coach and win it. Yeah, there you go, man, Come
on all you don't people everywhere with a miss here
(02:12:54):
the Bulldogs would win it. What's the thake too?
Speaker 3 (02:13:00):
Twenty three?
Speaker 2 (02:13:00):
They've got to make the extra point kick almost and
it's up and good boy, Hoover almost got it in,
but the Bulldog defense stopped them short. But the extra
point the field goal is up and good, and we
go to overtime number two, twenty six twenty six. Our
score here at the Hoover met and we'll take a
thirty second time out to catch our breath. You're listening
(02:13:22):
to Bulldog football here on the kicker. We're back here
at the Hoover met We're heading to the second overtime.
Opelanka kicked a field goal in the first overtime. Hoover
nearly got it in but was marked down short at
(02:13:43):
the one, and then the Bulldog's got a big stop
of the goal line on a third down and Hoover
kicks the kicks the field goal to make this a
twenty six to twenty six game and head it into
the second overtime. Now it will be Hoover getting the football,
and we're going to change ends of the field too,
as we will head down to the right end zone.
That is the end zone that has the right field
(02:14:05):
outfield wall. Coach, do you like throwing your defense back out?
I think they're kind of hot right now after that
big defensive stand.
Speaker 5 (02:14:12):
That was good.
Speaker 2 (02:14:13):
I absolutely love that play. Now they ope, like coaches said,
we're back here.
Speaker 3 (02:14:19):
Well, coach, you know this, this is a fit.
Speaker 2 (02:14:22):
I don't these officials tonight have They have not called
a bad game, but they've just been second guessing themselves
and seems.
Speaker 3 (02:14:29):
Like they've been confused.
Speaker 2 (02:14:31):
Must some of this might be college rules. You don't change, kay,
And they've seemed tonight to be very confused about signals
and hand gestures. And it's just seemed very odd for
a second round playoff game. But I think you're right.
The keep the hot group out there right Opel like
his defense will be back out to start the second
overtime period. Here, Mac Beeson and the offense that nearly
(02:14:54):
won it at the goal line back out here. We
can't let number fifteen. Yeah, the quarterback's been good running it.
Twenty six twenty six second overtime. Here's the first possession
here for Hoover. If they score, the Dogs will have
to score a touchdown. If they score at the field goal,
the Dogs would got the fore men win it with
(02:15:15):
a touchdown. Two lineback trips to the left side, single
receiver to the right side. They'll go Anthony Allen ground
game and Allen is wrapped up at the six yard line.
At the seven is where they'll mark him down. Just
a three yard pickup. It'll be second down in goal
from the seven. That was court Ingram coming up on
the stop for the Bulldogs. AJ Anthony Allen on the
(02:15:35):
run there for Hoover. Come on, Dave, second overtime. Hoover's
first possession here of the second overtime period. Get us
to the semifinals. Come on, two whiteouts either side, four
to one, bringing the fifth one from the edge. Bason
empties the backfield. Now he's got a five wide look.
(02:15:55):
Now they'll bring a man in motion. They'll fake it
to the motion man quarterback brought down on right at
the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 3 (02:16:01):
No gain on the play.
Speaker 2 (02:16:02):
That was a great stomp by Tremaine Thomas. And it'll
be third and goal from the seventh. Smart play right there,
Coach Massey, boy, get a stop here, force a field goal.
Then let's score a touchdown and win this thing that
was the quarterback wasn't it was? They're gonna throw it
this time. Meson checking his sideline with a long lookover
(02:16:24):
at the seven yard line.
Speaker 3 (02:16:25):
Third and goals. We're gonna line up four.
Speaker 2 (02:16:28):
Wide receivers here to the left side of the field,
single receiver to the right. Really interesting formation here for
Opelancabison drops back.
Speaker 3 (02:16:39):
Throws and it is knocked away. Great defense by cording
of its fourth down and goal from the seven coming
up for Hoover, and they'll have to kick a field goal.
Let's block this field goal.
Speaker 2 (02:16:52):
We need to run Hugh Glee and the big boy
on the Pilly I a free play. Hey, I think
this offense is gonna be mighty fired up and ready
to get this thing in. Let's see if this field
goal is good first for Hoover, and then we'll know
what the Dogs have to do when they get the
football here in the second overtime twenty six, twenty six,
(02:17:13):
Matthew get the ibbies for the field goal from the
seven yard line, and it is up and it is good,
so the Dogs can win it with a touchdown. As
they come out onto the field, coach, let's go, what
do you like here? Van Riggs?
Speaker 3 (02:17:32):
I like the hammer.
Speaker 2 (02:17:34):
I like Hammer and Hugli and that offensive line.
Speaker 3 (02:17:38):
That's right, any what they want to do?
Speaker 2 (02:17:42):
Well, you know they're fired up right now, ten yards
away from its semi finals. Twenty nine twenty six, Hoovers
up by three. Hammer back there. Yeah, that's an I formation.
Look here for the Bulldogs. They got the hammer at
full back Calvin Hugeley the tailbag. They'll bring a man
in should that's Brody Jones from right to left and
(02:18:03):
they quick give off to Johnson and Johnson fighting hard
for yards down close to the six. They'll mark him
at the right at the six yard line, so it'll
be second and goal from the six. Coming up here
for the for the Bulldogs three yard pickup, they'll mark
(02:18:23):
him down at the seven. It'll be second down and
goal from the seven. Again that I form Macon with
Johnson and Hugh Gleet. Dogs will win it with a touchdown.
Koby with a long hard count changing his play at
the line of scrimmage. Twenty six twenty nine Dogs trail
by three. They give it to Calvin. Calvin stood up
(02:18:44):
at the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 3 (02:18:45):
No gain on the play.
Speaker 2 (02:18:47):
A good stand there by Hoover and it'll be third
in goal. Boy, you just got to come up with
something here. Get this thing in the end zone. It'll
be third and seven, no gain on the play. Jamari
Miller will check in the ball games Julian Pritchett will
check out something to Brody Jones.
Speaker 3 (02:19:11):
I don't know, well you got them.
Speaker 2 (02:19:13):
I'd like to roll out and then pull it back
to the tight end back over here. Whatever your best
play is, dial it up here, now, go out of
the shotgun now here. On third and goal from the seven,
Dogs again can win it with a touchdown, or they'll
have to attempt the field goal here to extend this one.
They'll hand it off the Calvin left signe. Calvin cut
down at the four yard line. Gotta be stopped short. Hey,
(02:19:37):
looks like we're gonna have to trade field goals and
the Bulldogs will bring in the field goal team here
with a twenty nine twenty six ball game, and Dogs
have to make this field goal to extend this ball game.
Fourth and goal from the four, second time the Dogs
(02:19:58):
have had fourth and go from the fore same time,
same place Reese made the last field goal. Now, let's
get Reese to punch this thing through. Try to extend
this game and tie it up and send us to
overtime number three. Good snab. The hold is down and
the kick is up, and it is good.
Speaker 3 (02:20:22):
Dogs heading to overtime number three. When we come back.
Speaker 2 (02:20:26):
We're tied at twenty nine here at Hoover and we're
back after this time out. You're listening to Bulldog football
here on the kicker. We're heading to overtime number three
here at the Hoover met tied at twenty nine. Opelika
back out on offense to start this third overtime period,
(02:20:46):
and Opelika will start with an I formation. It'll be
Johnson getting it Blake Johnson and Johnson not much there,
mark him down looked like at the nine yard line
for a one yard pickup.
Speaker 3 (02:20:59):
It'll be second and goal from the nine for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 2 (02:21:04):
Think Copla like, I may have to open up the
passing game, but they're gonna try to get in the
end zone here. You don't want to make a mistake, coach,
so as a fine line between what you do here.
Speaker 3 (02:21:12):
But Hoover's really loading this box up here in the
short yarded situation.
Speaker 2 (02:21:18):
Kobe will go out of the shotgun here on second
and goal from the nine, and it will be a
play action Kobe wanting to throw, rolling to the right
and throws and it is.
Speaker 3 (02:21:30):
Colt may be intercepted, they say intercepted. Hoover picked it
off in the end zone. Now we're still tied at
twenty nine, but a field goal will win it for
the Bucks. One of these defense is gonna have to
(02:21:53):
make a play, and Hoover's made a big one right
there with an interception.
Speaker 2 (02:22:01):
Twenty nine, twenty nine. Hoover's offense will come out and
a chance to win it with a field goal. So
we'll see if they don't try to run a few
offensive plays. Here there comes offense Mac beeson a company.
(02:22:23):
They can win it with any score. Here, boy, a
bang bang play in the end zone there that was
just too a wide receiver and a cornerback going at it,
and Hoover will take a time out. Twenty nine twenty nine.
In the third overtime, an interception by a Hoover and
they can win it with a score. Here, they'll have
(02:22:43):
it first in goal from the ten. When we come
back here, listen to Bulldog football. Here on the kicker. Well,
Hoover in the third overtime gets a big interception in
the end zone and now with any score they could
win it. Thompson has knocked off Auburn Tonight Bulldogs trying
(02:23:09):
to keep this one going. Here, besing out of the
shotgun formation here on first down from the ten, play
action Beson the quarterback will keep it, goes ahead and
he has stopped for a two yard pickup down to
the eight yard line. Opelika try to get a turnover
and go to another overtime. It looks like now they're
going to bring the field goal team on in here.
(02:23:33):
And we got an injured player for Opelika down on
the field. Now it looks like maybe the kaikfoot banged
up on the field. He will get up and get
helped off. We're in the third overtime twenty nine, twenty nine.
But Hoover gets the interception Colby Key rolling right, throwing
(02:23:55):
in the corner and a great play by the Hoover
defender coming over and that one, and Hoover can win
it with a score here, and it looks like they're
gonna bring the field goal team out. Dawe's got to
block this one or he's got to miss it, lighting
(02:24:15):
up from the middle of the field and coach Ferguson
terim coach Jamie Ferguson comes in and gonna call a
time out. Let the field goal kicker think about it
a little bit longer here and this is a little
bit longer than an extra point, but not by much,
about five yards deeper than an extra point. Twenty nine
(02:24:40):
to twenty nine ball game. And hope like a thing
saying their prayers that this thing gets blocked or shanked
one way or another. Try to move this thing to
overtime number four, and that'll be the only way we
go to that fourth overtime.
Speaker 3 (02:25:00):
Heck of a ball game. However, this one finishes.
Speaker 2 (02:25:02):
Dog's got down sixteen nothing scored, twenty three unanswered, and
after that it was on and we are in the
third overtime now and overall win it with this field
goal from the middle of the field. You'll tell by
the sound here how it goes flag on the play.
(02:25:24):
The kick was good, but there is a flag, and
I believe it's off sides against Opelika. But they blew
the whistle before the play, so they say encroachment, so
there must have been contact made. So that was a
(02:25:46):
break for Opalika because the field goal was good. The
Hoover players saying the climate, but they blew the play dead.
So now it will be pretty much an extra point.
They're gonna put the football right where the mark is
for the extra point, So nothing more than an extra
(02:26:09):
point shot here for Hoover to win this thing. As
we're tied at twenty nine, and again the crowd will
let you know, got it. Heartbreaker for the Dogs here
in Hoover tonight, thirty two to twenty nine. The final
(02:26:31):
here in the third overtime. What are the Bulldogs? What
a tremendous fight they had tonight in this game, just
had their opportunities, couldn't make the plays offensively tonight to
(02:26:51):
win this one, especially in overtime, and Hoover made the
big defensive play in overtime. And tip your cap to
the Bucks tonight as they win at thirty twenty nine.
Our postgame show coming up on the way next. You're
listening to Opa like a Bulldog football right here on
nineties to the point seven kicker Fim back here for
(02:27:18):
the Hoover met postgame show. Third overtime tonight, Dogs come
up short as Hoover got a big interception they needed
just to score and they got the field goal they
needed to win this one, twenty nine to twenty six.
As the Dogs fall and their season comes to an
end here in the second round to the Hoover Bucks
Dogs will drop to nine and three on the season.
But Coach mccrack and, I can't say enough about the
(02:27:41):
fight for this team and the way the boys fought
back tonight, the way they were down coach sixteen nothing.
And boy, for a minute there, coach, we kind of thought,
you know, we're about to get out of that.
Speaker 3 (02:27:55):
I mean, this is gonna get ugly.
Speaker 4 (02:27:56):
Yeah, I know, you're right. We fought back and what
in the fourth quarter though, van our offense we just.
Speaker 2 (02:28:04):
Did we didn't.
Speaker 4 (02:28:05):
We couldn't get it done in the fourth quarter offensively.
I think we punted what jere me three times in
the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (02:28:12):
Yeah, I believe so.
Speaker 4 (02:28:13):
And we were down inside our own twenty five. The
first drive of the second half was beautiful. I mean
that made it sixteen to eight, and then we got
the fumble over there and tied it up and then
we went ahead.
Speaker 3 (02:28:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:28:27):
I mean the Opolanga scored twenty three unanswered points. Yeah,
to falling behind sixteen nothing, that's right. And you know,
the defense made play after play too in this game.
I know the defense, you know, giving up well, it
was an interception really for Hoover in that Okay, we
got mack down on the field with the interim coach
Jamie Ferguson down with some thoughts on the game.
Speaker 3 (02:28:46):
We'll head down with Mac.
Speaker 10 (02:28:47):
Thank you, coach Ferguson. I mean, words can't describe right
now what these dollars are feeling. And you know you
challenged them the second half. Let's pitch the shutout, Let's
give everything we got with a better team. You know,
your coach, they fought and fought and fought and fault
their way back in this and y'all had a lot,
(02:29:09):
a lot of adversity, a lot, and y'all know y'all
felt it, but turned them with this team battled and
just give me your thoughts for stepping in and just
helping you. You know, could you know, coach this team
here in the playoffs. I know it is a tough, tough,
tough duty to do without coach Moore, but golly, just give.
Speaker 2 (02:29:26):
Me your thoughts.
Speaker 11 (02:29:27):
Yeah, I mean, you feel for these guys. You know,
they didn't play the best half and we know that
they know that and they would love to have it back.
And like you said, we challenged them at halftime and
just tell them, hey, you know, go out there and
fight and then you know, There's never a doubt in
my mind that they were gonna fight. They've been fighting,
you know since November of last year, you know, and
then Coach Moore coming in and fighting in February.
Speaker 2 (02:29:48):
You know, they really are ready for this.
Speaker 3 (02:29:50):
They're built for this.
Speaker 11 (02:29:51):
This is you know, they they fought hard enough and
wan they you know they could have won this game.
Super proud of them, no equip mentality. I felt like
they they were in the whole time. Man, let me
close out with this coach. I know the season has
come to an end. Great run by this Bulldog team.
Talk about these seniors. I know you coached a lot
of them, tak a lot of them in class.
Speaker 10 (02:30:11):
Golly, you've had them since you know, middle school and everything.
But just talking about the class of.
Speaker 11 (02:30:16):
This a you know, what a great group, you know,
to for Coach More to have as this first group
of seniors. Men, they you know, they bought in. All
they wanted was somebody to come in and love them
and believe in them. And you know, I think, uh,
you know, he was the right man at the right
time and you know, really got these guys to buy
into the you know, the whole deal.
Speaker 3 (02:30:35):
Super proud you know, get a little motionalle bit.
Speaker 10 (02:30:38):
I know, No, I got to well, look, keep those
heads up high, keep those dogs heads up high.
Speaker 2 (02:30:44):
Nothing to be ashamed of. Great run.
Speaker 10 (02:30:46):
Hey, the spring training will be right around the right,
around the corners. But the city is proud of y'all.
You got me, all right, go go be with you dogs.
Speaker 2 (02:30:55):
Thank And I will say this Jamie Ferguson to night
stepping in a tough role coach McCracken to be the
interim coach.
Speaker 3 (02:31:00):
And there was some tough decisions I know he had
to make that.
Speaker 2 (02:31:02):
You know, he wasn't planning to make, you know, about
six or seven days ago, and you know, give a
credit to J. D. Atkins and had a massy in
that group over there for rallying around and putting together,
you know, a great game plan for the remainder of
the week when they had to step in and take
over the duties this week and come up short here
in the in the third overtime tonight thirty two twenty nine.
It was a heartbreaker for the dogs. But hope, like
(02:31:24):
the fans that we were all kind of sitting up
here with this thing with sixteen nothing.
Speaker 3 (02:31:27):
We were looking at ourselves going.
Speaker 2 (02:31:28):
Things aren't looking good, coach, and we could we could
be on our way to see in an ugly ball
game here. But the Dogs fought right back, made it
a sixteen to eight ball game. Came out in the
second half championship drive to go down and tie this
game up. Got up twenty three sixteen in this game,
and then Hoop was able to fight back and come
down him and the quarterback Beast had made some great
plays tonight, and that was a good quarterback drawplay to
(02:31:49):
tie the game up. And then back and forth towards
the end, hoping like I had a chance with three
minutes to go with the ball back, could not get
the drive going to get down and maybe kick a
field goal to win it. And then in overtime back
in four and that was the interception for Hoover that
won the game. I don't like, I don't like to
bring up penalties. However, I'm gonna bring this one up.
Speaker 4 (02:32:08):
When we were up twenty three sixteen and we were
driving this way and we completed a pass, uh and
they called pass interference.
Speaker 2 (02:32:18):
On our dB.
Speaker 4 (02:32:20):
That was huge, oh you cause that gave them a
first down and they would have had to punt from
their own thirty yard line.
Speaker 2 (02:32:28):
So that happens though, Yeah, absolutely well again our final
score here from Hoover thirty two to twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (02:32:35):
Will take our final break.
Speaker 2 (02:32:36):
