Speaker 2 (01:19):
Probably welcome you into the Friendly Confines Bulldogs Stadium as
we get you ready for the week five matchup here
against the Smith's Station Panthers at his homecoming tonight in
here inside Bulldog Stadium as well. And for the twenty
sixth time, these two teams will meet up against each
other Opealaika and Smith's Station, and this has been one
that has really been handled by the Bulldogs of late
(01:41):
forty two to fourteen. Last time these two teams met
last season thirty one to fourteen back in twenty twenty two,
and before that, it was back in twenty seventeen, a
fifty one to nothing win as Smith Station decided to
schedule the Opelika Bulldogs in there in the one season
and that was really a big break between the two.
Twenty thirteen last win for the Smith Station Panthers, which
(02:03):
was a three to nothing victory here inside Bulldog Stadium
for Smith Station. The Panthers have only won two of
the meetings. Opelik has won twenty three of these twenty
five matchups against the Smith Station Panthers. A very young
Smith Station team rolls in here tonight, just two starting
seniors on offense and two starting seniors on defense, and
the Panthers last week fell to Carver Montgomery and a
(02:24):
rain soaked affair twenty six to seven inside Panthers Stadium
just down the road. The Opelika Bulldogs, on the other hand,
have been on to hot streak. They've won three of
their four games to start the season. A heartbreaking loss
to the Auburn Tigers back in Week three on the
road there at dunk Sanford Stadium. That was a twenty
eight to twenty one loss to the Tigers. Week one
win against Benjamin Russell though twenty eight to fourteen. He
(02:46):
went over callaway big forty eight to thirteen that road
lost to Auburn, and then bounced back last week nicely
in a win against jack Six touchdowns on the night
for the Bulldogs, five different players for the Bulldogs scoring
last week in that fifty two to six blowout win
over Jagged. Hoping for similar results tonight here and signed
Bulldog Stadium and hopefully it can be a happy homecoming
for the Oplaika Bulldogs. We'll continue with our countdown to
(03:09):
kickoff on the way next with a visit with head
coach Brian Moore. As we continue here on ninety seven
point seven Kicker FM.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Now it's time for a pregame visit with Opelikah head
football coach Brian Moore, presented by South State Bank. Now
with coach, here's Van Riggs.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
And except for home coming tonight here at Bulldog Stadium.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Coach.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Back to back home games. A lot of excitement this week,
Big pep Rawley yesterday. I know every community's excited. It's
homecoming and another home game.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah, we're excited to be back at home.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
I mean, obviously, Bulldog Stadium has been good to us
the two previous games, and it's an incredible environment here
and all the things that have been done and we've
had cool events, you know. Obviously last week was youth
Night and that was a lot of fun to have
our kids and then young cheerleaders out there as well
to go through that. But we played well for the
most part, and hopefully we'll do it again.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Six touchdowns and five different players scoring touchdowns, that's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
Yeah, the balance is important.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
You know, it keeps kids happy and we want to
spread it, you know. And the snapcount was down for
most of our kids both sides of the ball, which
was huge for us. We felt a lot better Sunday
and Monday, and hopefully again we'll play well and so
excited to see us.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Team morale has to really be up. When you get
people in the ball game. I think you've pretty much
gotten most of all all the players are available to
play in the game so far in action at least
here in the first part of the season.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
That and JV games, you know, I think those are
really really important night grade games as well, that kids
get to play. You know, that's not always going to happen.
You know, if you're in a close ball game, it
is what it is. But you know, we want kids
to develop, and we know that when we lose all
these seniors, you know, we need to have a plan.
So that's been a huge part of what we've done
developmentally this year.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Kobe Key good night passing and CJ sank you started
the game, did well as also a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
I thought Kobe came in and played well, but CJ
was clean the first drive CJ was the que all
the way down the field and scored and they played.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
About equal reps.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Like to see throw it a little bit more as
we go forward, but yeah, I thought, you know, we
had better balance Friday, and I think that was big
for us. And as we go down the stretch against
some of the people we're gonna play, we're gonna need
to be balanced and be able to spin it around.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
A little bit. But I really like both of our q's.
They've done a great.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Job running the ball. What we saw some running backs
of Wait's got a touchdown and then Jalen Nelson, what
a good run he had there, laid for you, and
that's good Behind Calvin. Tommy Johnson also caught a big
touchdown pass for you.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yeah, we feel really good about four backs and CJ
pink as well. I mean CJ had a big carry
and then Jalen went the next time and scored a touchdown.
But CJ had a twenty five yard run in the game.
So we feel really good about five of our running backs.
We've actually got nine backs, which is crazy, but you
know we won't again depth with every level, so you know,
four or five of those guys will play JV football.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
So we're encouraged by that room.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
You know, we're trying to develop depth behind Calvin, like
you mentioned, but Jordan's a guy that we're just waiting
to break out. I mean, Jordan had an incredible sophomore
season and we're waiting for.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
Him to do that.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
He'll have his time, but we're excited about that room
right now.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Talk about your defense a little bit. I know, creating
a turnover again in the ballgame and the defensive line
creating a turnover and that's always good.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Yeah, I thought a Marii was better.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
You know, he had kind of a Superman type play
where he came around and had a strip sack and
then ended up recovering the fumble. But you know, I
thought they had a much better game. There's still a
lot left though, you know, I'm still pushing those guys
in Coach Howell and coach Prescott as well, you know,
to rise to their potential, you know, to maximize their
potential and play well. But created some turnovers. That was
really good to see. You know in games that we
(06:29):
created takeaways. Man, we've been really good. So we need
to keep that going.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Where do you really want to see your team continue
to improve on as they move into this week here
against Mith Stationan.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Just consistency.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
I know that's like it's hard to be specific about
those things, but you know, from an overall standpoint, the
way that we prepare, you know, I mentioned this on
d Mark Show as well. You know, the way that
we prepare and go about our week, you know, matters.
I mean, you can't play well if you don't have
great practices. And you know, I think this week's been
really good so far, so hopefully we'll execute better. There
was a lull in the game you know, last week,
(07:00):
and I thought we didn't do a very good.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Job of staying consistent throughout.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
We gave up a big play defensively right for half,
and then we had two drives back to back offensively
where we had to settle for a field goal. We
had the ball and plus territory tie. I had the
phonell recovery. Didn't score a touchdown on that drive and
then we had a punt and so that was frustrating,
but we did get it back together and score five
straight touchdowns to finish the ball game.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
We'll be back with coach more right after this as
we continue here on the countdown to kick off. You're
listening to Bulldog football here on the kicker back here
with visiting with the coach, Brian Moore, as we get
you ready for home coming tonight here inside Bulldog Stadium
as the Bulldogs you're ready to take on the Smith's
Station Panthers coach. They play an old school type football
(07:41):
kind of what you might see a little bit of
from Dothan here in a couple of weeks, where they're
gonna they're gonna run the ball and come at you
in a lot of different ways.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Yeah, you know, you don't love it from a you know,
prep standpoint. It's taking me all week to kind of
prepare for, you know, along with coach Massie and our
defensive staff because they do are so different, you know,
and it's hard to get our kids to a point
where they understand, you know, how how fast it's gonna
happen up front, you know, because they're gonna they're gonna
hit those holes a little bit faster. In our scouts,
you know, and so we're trying to get some speed
(08:08):
of the game reps. I actually play some scout team quarterback, uh,
you know, and and try and help with some of
the reads and you know, some of the under center
stuff that we're not used to. But on the at
the same time, you know, on the other side of
the fence, you know, they're not used to our scheme
like us either, So you know they're used to their
defensive football teams used to stop and wing tea right,
and so when you spread the ball around and you know,
get into some four wide sets and stuff like that,
(08:30):
they're a little bit out of their comfort zone as well.
So you know, I'll be eager to see how we
play tonight. You know, I'm excited about the prep and
and and hopefully we'll fit some of those things and
be clean and all of our run fits, because if
you're not, they're gonna have chunk plays and big, big
plays against you.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
I know, sometimes it can be tough to get up
for a team. You know, they only won a couple
of games here in about three years. But you don't
want to be the school where they where they get
hot and they win one.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
You know, we've seen them and you look at I
think coach McCracken. You know, years and years ago they
went to Northview and lost that game against the team
that had lost a.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Bunch of row. This is still high school football.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
These are still sixteen year olds, and you know, we've
got to play well every week. And truthfully, just like
I told the kids last week, our program's not to
a point where we're going to just line up and
dominate people because we just have it, you know, we
just have it in the past. And so you know,
we've got to put our you know, our hard hat
on every week and go to work man, and we did.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
As far as a practice standpoint, so you know, again.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Eager to see if we're a little bit more urgent,
a little bit more consistent things I've been preaching all
all all year long, really and see.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
If we'll play a little bit better, and we did
a week ago.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Coach good luck, appreciate the visit, Thanks so much, Thank you,
and go donks Hey coach Brian Moore as we continue
with a pregame show more on the way next here
from Bulldog Stadium after this on the Kicker, Hello.
Speaker 6 (09:39):
I'm Jessica Samuel with open Laca Power Services. Did you
know that you can save energy by installing additional installation
on attic floors, exterior walls between floor joys and in
cross spaces. Weather stripping around doors and windows reduce this
moisture and drafts from entering your home. This can reduce
(09:59):
your energy by as much as fifteen percent. We're opal
Likah Powered Services, Hometown people working for you.
Speaker 2 (10:15):

yet to join us. But coach Mitch McCracken, of course,
will be along with our color commentary tonight. Matt McCracken
will be roaming the sidelines. Jason Lee assisting us tonight
here in the booth, helping us spot tonight's players in
on those stops. What our pre game show, presented to
you by Frederick Dean Funeral Home, coming to you from
the Orthopedic Clinic Broadcast BOO. This time we'll take a
(10:56):
look at some of the matchups going on around seven
A Auburn tonight hosting jag at home Carver Montgomery I'll
travel down to doth in an interesting matchup there. Central
Phoenix City also welcomes in Enterprise tonight. Some other games
around seven A Bob Jones takes on Florence, Daphney takes
on Baker. Davidson welcomes in Alma Bryant. Fair Hope takes
(11:17):
on Robertsdale. You Are Trustful is hosting Hillcrest Tuscaloosa. Another
interesting matchup here. Pratvel off to a hot start. They'll
travel to Hoover tonight, and Huntsville takes on Sparkman of
North James Clemens is a grissom Mary Montgomery at Foley
Oak Mountain takes on Tuscaloosa County. Of course right here
a Bulldog Stadium, Opelaika hosting Smith's Station, and then Thompson
(11:38):
on the road tonight to take on a Vestavia Hills
team that has been off to a rocky start here
in twenty twenty four. But tonight, of course here in
Bulldog Stadium, it'll be home coming tonight. The homecoming court
has already been announced here and in just of course,
at halftime we'll find out just exactly who will be
our home coming queen. Right now the hole on. Take
a look at our game conditions. That's brought to you
(12:00):
our friends at First Baptist Church in opal Like. It
is a beautiful evening for football. Skies are crystal clear
and right now temperatures sitting at eighty eight. By the
time this game ends, temperatures will creep down and just
to the upper seventy. So it'll be a nice, pleasant
evening here, not too hot, but certainly not a cool
night either here, but it has been a nice one
(12:21):
ever since the sun has set behind the trees, it
has turned into a really nice evening. It was a
hot one here for a while, especially on the home side,
as that sun certainly beats down here on the home
side at Bulldog Stadium. We'll continue with our pregame show
presenting to you by Frederick Dean Funeral Home. When we
come back, we'll get you ready for our coin toss
it a bit later on of course, kickoff tonight top
of the hour between the open like the Bulldogs of
(12:43):
the Smith's Station Panthers here on ninety seven point seven
kicker FM.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
For the Plague of the Open LA.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
High School Spirit of the Sound Marching Band performing our
national anthem here inside Bulldog Stadium tonight Van Riggs alongside
coach Pitts McCracken, who will be joining us back up
here in the booth here in just a bid. He
will be one of our honorary captains tonight here inside
Bulldog Stadium as we get you ready for homecoming tonight
between Opulaika and the Smith's Station Panthers. And as we mentioned,
(13:54):
of course, this game tonight will be the last home
game for a while to October the eleventh, and it's
gonna be a tough stretch coming up here for the Bulldogs.
After tonight, a road trip to Pike Road and doth
It and then home games against Enterprise Central Phoenix City,
and then they'll finish up on a Thursday night to
wrap the season up on October twenty fifth at Carver, Montgomery.
Hard to believe we're already talking about wrapping the season up,
(14:16):
but we are at the halfway point of the high
school football season here in week number five, which is
certainly hard to believe. Mac mccrackey gonna be rubbing our
sidelines let's check in with Mac. Now, Mac, you've been
in the locker room with coach more. What's the attitude
from the team and what's the feeling side of the
locker room.
Speaker 7 (14:32):
The feeling's good.
Speaker 8 (14:33):
They're just ready to come out here and play some football.
You want to see them.
Speaker 9 (14:36):
We get off to an early start, you know, and
and just keep this one going instead of, you know,
kind of falling flat like we did last week. And
once four quarters of good football and let's get a
good w here and just a great night here at
Bulldog Stadium. Great crowd here on this homecoming night. Nice,
not really breezy, but it just feels good. Now the
sun's all down, Mac.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
This is a very unique matchup in that, you know,
most of these guys that are gonna be playing tonight
for Smith's Station actually played on Monday for a half
of football in the JV game. They're so young that
they had to use a lot of majority of their
starters are starting quarterbacks, starting running back, majority of the
starting line. They all played against the JV team. I
had a pretty successful first half or winning eighteen to
(15:16):
nothing at halftime, and then when those guys came out,
of course, Opolikah was able to come back and win
that game. But maybe that's a little confidence for these
guys over on the Smith's station side, even though they
were playing against you know, the JV team from Opalanko.
Speaker 9 (15:29):
Yeah, you know, I watched that game and they, Yeah,
they had a lot of momentum and excitement.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
You know.
Speaker 9 (15:34):
The first half of that ball game. The quarterback looked
really good. There was a nice crips pass. The offensive
line did well for him, and that running back did good.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
You know.
Speaker 9 (15:42):
Like like you said, Man, I think they went up
eighteen and nothing on us.
Speaker 8 (15:47):
They played pretty good football.
Speaker 9 (15:49):
But like I said, you know, with them being so young,
it's all about reps, rep reps. You can't get enough
reps and that's all the way you're going to get better.
Speaker 8 (15:55):
But yeah, let's see, you know.
Speaker 9 (15:57):
I'm sure they're gonna be pumped up tonight and come
out give a good game.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Mac. I want to see these guys fired up coming
out here for Opelaika. Like the Bushwhackers used to remember
the wrestling group from the eighties, you know, hands up
in the air with some screaming and hollering, you know,
and and uh, let's play some football, hey, we talked
about the gautlet that's coming down the stretch, and we
can't worry about that tonight, you know.
Speaker 7 (16:17):
Yeah, No, that's right.
Speaker 5 (16:18):
We yet a.
Speaker 8 (16:19):
First task in hand, handle business here and then you
can go about the next apponment.
Speaker 9 (16:24):
But you're right, man, it's going to be an exciting
stretch of football here for Opal.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Like and Mack last year when we went over to
Smith's Station. I know they've lost some players off that team,
but that was a fired up bunch and that was
a tough first half.
Speaker 9 (16:35):
Yeah, that was they I think that was the opening
kickoff and they went about eighty yards on us on
the keck off return and it was like, hey, you know, hey,
we're here to win.
Speaker 8 (16:43):
We're here to win the ball game.
Speaker 9 (16:44):
And we had to make some adjustments and then fight
back into it and actually get the w.
Speaker 8 (16:48):
But yeah, hey, look, Smith is gonna Smith is.
Speaker 9 (16:50):
Gonna throw it all at us. You know, they're coming
in here for a win. I know that one in
a long time. But you know they're they're they're trying
to get a w like like eybody else.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Yeah, just two wins of the last three seasons for
the Smith's Station program. But you don't want to be
the team they find that rhythm and picked up the
big win the boy. It would be the monumental upset
if they could do it here tonight. But I know
Opalaikah is ready to go here inside a big capacity crowd.
I know it will be by the time we're all
said and done, at least here on the home side
here inside Bulldog Stadium, as we'll get ready for homecoming.
(17:20):
Before we take a quick break, let's pause ten seconds
for station identification. We're back here at Bulldog Stadium getting
you ready for the coin toss tonight. And the coin
tosses always is presented to you by Rentals Outdoors. Rentals Outdoors,
you're locally owned Hunting, Fishing, Archery and outdoor store to
(17:42):
take care of all your outdoor sporting needs. Rentals Outdoors
off Geneva Street in opel Aanca. Ben Swank is a
captain tonight for the Bulldogs. Also it's number ninety five
Brandon Dnson and number thirty seven Rees Beasley and number
twenty seven Tommy Johnson. Seeing your running back there are
gonna be your cats tonight and we'll get you captains
(18:02):
across the way here for Smith's Station. The Panthers coming
out tonight, and the silver numbers, and those are not
your favorite if you're a broadcaster. For sure. We've got
number three Jerichus Wheat, who is a captain for the Panthers,
along with number four that is Jalen Huff, and then
number seventy also a captain to night, Braden Blakeney. And
(18:26):
we'll head down for that coin toss here in just
a few white Hat introducing himself, whit, gentlemen, my name
is Andrew Stanley. I'm gonna be a rapper tonight. This
is West Buller.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
He's gonna be here on fire.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
Okay, we expect a good clean game. Liza Varr whistles.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Okay, all right, Smith's Station. You're the visiting team, so
you get to choose heads or tails. Let's ten tall heads.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
It is read the ball.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Okay, which way do you want to kick?
Speaker 5 (19:04):
That way? Okay?
Speaker 2 (19:06):
All right, there's Ben Swank found out the duties, at
least giving the duties for opelaika At was Smith's Station
winning the toss. They want the football first, and so
they'll get it first here insigned Bulldog Stadium. Want to
also make recognition of our captains on the field tonight.
The honorary captains that is. We've got Elaine Smith, current teacher,
staff member and a sing p director at Opelaika High School.
(19:28):
Of course our very own Spence McCracken, former teaching coach
and Tim Moore community supporter, owner Remorse Construction, and the
proud father of Tyler Moore who's a current linebacker, all
on the varsity squad. And of course some great Bulldogs
that he has been able to produce his family there
in LaMarcus Rawl, great outstanding football player for the Opalika Bulldogs.
(19:50):
We come back. We'll get you ready for kickoff. That's
on the way next you're listening to Bulldog football here
on the kicker back here, just minutes away from kickoff
tonight between Opulaanka and Smith's station. Mc McCracken pops down
(20:11):
there an honorary captain. He's gonna have to catch his
breath as he gets back up the steps here.
Speaker 8 (20:15):
Hey did he just said, what's the quickest man to
get up here?
Speaker 5 (20:18):
Back?
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Coach McCracken making talking to coach more about getting the elevator
put in back. I don't know after tonight, that wouldn't
be very nice dog fans, appreciate you being with us tonight.
I want to thank our many fine sponsors. Orthopedic Clinic.
We're coming to you from the Orthopedic Clinic Broadcast booth.
Also Jeff Coach Funeral Home, Whittaker Drugs, Opelikah Power Services,
Glen Smith's, Chevy, GMC and Opelaka get Ready to Smile,
(20:40):
South State Bank, Lamber Transfer in Storage, Ellen m Pond
and Guns, Southern Union State Community College. Also Frederick Dean
Funeral Home, Rentals Outdoors, First Baptist Church, Oplaikah, Four Seasons,
Federal Credit, Union, Auburn Bank, Gory's Furniture, Bubba's Medicine Shop,

Cleaning Services, AO Tourism, Eddie Smith for Mayor, Victory Designs,
(21:05):
and State Senator Randy Price. We think all our great
sponsors for helping us bring you opal like a bulldog
football each and every Friday night. Dogs blacked out tonight, blacktops,
black pants, white numbers outlined in red of course, red
helmets with the black dogs across the way and Smith's
station will wear the black bottoms, white jerseys and silver
(21:27):
numbers that are outlined in black black helmets with a
white pall on each side that is outlined in gray.
And the Panthers wanted the football, so they will get
it to start things out. Johnny Cecina is still dealing
with a little injury. Reese Beasley will still handle the
kicking duties all around for the Bulldogs tonight, except for
(21:47):
the punting duties, which Syon Henderson will handle. So Cohen Thomas,
a cyboard quarterback, looks to get going. Of course, Smith's
station ran the opening kickoff back last year against Opelikas.
Cracking reminded us here earlier. I know Jamie Fergus and
his crew. He talked to him earlier this week on
the Brian Moore Show. Special teams has been really good
(22:08):
and solid for the Bulldogs this season. So Beasley has
it teed up at the forty yard line. Dogs are
kicking from right to left and easily comes in, puts
total leather. It's an end over end short kick and
it will be fielded at the ten yard line, brought
across the fifteen twenty twenty five. There they go down
the sidelines thirty five and just pushed out at the
(22:30):
forty yard line and that was a touchdown saving stop
by Rhys Beasley, the kicker there who saved a potential
kickoff ran back for a touchdown there on the opening play. Coach,
you doing okay, going great name ricks. All right, We'll
let you catch your breath there. I know you had to.
There's no elevator we were talking about. You're gonna have
(22:52):
to catch your breath from maybe a couarterator. Good field
position here for the Panthers, they'll start from there on
forty four. As we mentioned, Cohen Thomas the quarterback, they're
gonna run this double wing set. Coach, you'll have to
kind of describe how this works here to our listeners.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
It's got some wing ta in it with a little option.
You go see the quarterback running a lot of options,
all right.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
Quarterback fake the run and handoff and throws it and
it's intercepted by the Bulldogs at the forty forty five
cross midfield inside the forty and thirty five. That's Keevan
King and he's tackled out of the thirty yard line.
Big time interception for Keevy and a King senior and
he gets another interception. Great job, what a start boy
(23:36):
Cohen Thomas, the quarterback. He tried to fool the defense
going to play action pass right out of the gate,
and the Dogs were standing there waiting on that one.
Keevy and King picked that one off and the Dogs
are in business now inside the thirty down at the
twenty eight yard line of Smith Station. So the Bulldogs,
(23:56):
Kobe Key comes out and it'll be Jordan Waits getting
the start at tailback here for the Bulldogs. Blake Johnson
and the tight end move over to the right side.
That's where Tommy Johnson rather the starting tailbag gets the
hand off Tommy inside the twenty Tommy with a good
run close to nine yards. I think Tommy's got ten
yards down to the eighteen. That's going to be enough
(24:17):
for a Lambert transfer in storage first down.
Speaker 7 (24:20):
Great job.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
Win blows out again tonight the right guard per Hope
Black Permel Torbrick starting right guard, and.
Speaker 7 (24:30):
I'll give you the other lineups in just a minute, all.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Right, So a ten yard pickup there by Tommy Johnson,
who was a captain tonight, inn't getting the start play action.
Kolby Key rolls the left steps. Now he'll take off
and run ahead and he's going to be brought down
at around the twelve yard line. So a good scramble
there by Colby Key, he'll pick up close to six
yards on that quarterback run. Christian Bryant on the stop
there for the Panthers.
Speaker 5 (24:53):
Got Tremaine Thomas, Epperson, Jackson, Lee, Carmel Torbett, David Miller
up front for the Dogs. Keys your quarterback Bennett Young,
Blake Johnson, Calvin Hughglee, Brody Jones, and Jamari Miller.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Kel go out of the shotgun here to be second
down in four Boss spoted down at the twelve yard
line of Smith's station. And here's a speed sweep. Here's
Jalen Washington right side, trying to turn it upfield inside
the ten five. Jalen Lungs is ahead of the zone.
They're gonna mark him out at the one. Boy, Jalen
just missed skying in the air for a touchdown. He's
down at the one. It's gonna be first and goal
(25:27):
at the one. And it was at about a twelve
eleven yard game. It was right out a eleven yard game.
Speaker 5 (25:35):
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Okay, first and goal for the ward. Now that'll be
an I formation here, Tommy Johnson remains in at the tailbag.
Blake Johnson the full back here in the I formation,
Jamari Miller the loan light out to the left here
first and goal for the one. Johnson's got it touchdown
Bulldogs one yard out. What a great start here for
the Bulldogs. Defense comes up with the interception Tommy Johnson,
(25:59):
a good run, a kolbe Key scramble, and then Jalen
Washington nearly scored on a speed sweep. The Dog's up
six nothing with ten o six to play here in
the first quarter.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
I tell you what, Blake Johnson is a big person.
I'm telling you you'll run behind him, man, I'm telling you
I'd love to be a tailback running behind him.
Speaker 7 (26:20):
Great blocking by the whole front.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
So here is the swinging gate and the Dogs are
going to try to go for two. And that pass
was incomplete, so that one was kind of busted up
there from the get go. So the two point conversion
failed there as the Dogs tried to kind of underhand
pass it over to the left side where everybody was
bunched up, and it went incomplete. But good score and
driving power by Hople like a power services, hometown people
(26:49):
working for you. It'll be a six nothing Bulldog lead
here with ten o six to go, and we're back
after this break right here on the kicker, ten oh
six to go here in the first quarter, six noth
at Opelika lead a big interception by Keevi and King
(27:10):
on the Panthers first offensive series, first played from scrimmage,
an interception and the Opelika Bulldogs march right down the
field and lead it here six nothing.
Speaker 7 (27:23):
Man. This is a young Smith Station team.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
They got eight seniors, eleven juniors, and they got sixty
eight kids on the team. So we need to take
advantage of this youth on their team. And that was
a good start.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Yeah. When I looked at Len in the last couple
of weeks, they've only been starting two seniors on offense
and two seniors on defense. Arrest of everybody's pretty much softmores.
Speaker 5 (27:47):
Yeah, I'm slut. Ivers told Bennett Young was not going
to play tonight. I don't know whether he got the
stabs if you happen to.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
See, Yeah, he's not dressed out.
Speaker 5 (27:58):
He's been hurt.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
Yeah, he was not dressed out in warm ups. Mack.
What we got going on a little clock issue here.
Speaker 8 (28:03):
No, they were reviewing that last play.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
UH.
Speaker 9 (28:06):
Coach Moore's will upset because that's a backwards pass and
they ruled it a forward pass.
Speaker 5 (28:11):
And there's no way.
Speaker 8 (28:11):
Because he's set up eyeline of scrimmage.
Speaker 9 (28:13):
So it was an inadverted whistle that they blew and
that's what he's upset about, that it should have been
blown down.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Oh okay, it was a backwards pass, wasn't it kind
of like a later on correct correct. I don't think
they're going to go back and reset it here, but
I don't know either.
Speaker 9 (28:26):
But hey, you know he's making his point though, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
Matt mccrack And that's four seasons. Federal Credit Union Sideline
reports tonight, coming at you all throughout the night, and
of course coming to you for the Orthopedic Clinic broadcast booth.
Orth Pedic Clinic, East Alabama's go to center for orthopedic care.
They've got two great locations for you, eighteen hundred Lakeside
Circle in Auburn and eighteen Medical Arts Center one twenty
one North twentieth Street in Opulaka. Their online at the
Orthroclinic dot com. And I can tell you if you
(28:51):
are in need of any side of the type of
an orthopedic surgery, orthopedic clinic and the team of doctors.
There is the certainly the police to go. Coach McCracken, Yes, sir, absolutely,
give me a So coach, how they're gonna how they're
gonna rule on this vein?
Speaker 5 (29:09):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
It's still a coach still talking.
Speaker 5 (29:11):
I mean, well, if they go back, they can go
bad way they and kick the ball off and go
back and let them do that extra point over again.
If they ruled for okalaka.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Well, they're talking to talking to coach Garrison now over
on the far side of the field, and I don't know,
we'll see exactly what comes from here. I think coach
Moore is signaling over like could be bringing the group
back out to redo.
Speaker 5 (29:39):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (29:39):
They they're over there on the sideline.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Back a long conversation. Do you hear anything from coach Moore?
Speaker 9 (29:46):
I think he's saying light up for the field goal,
that say, if they really let him retry, Yeah, it's
all okay, yep.
Speaker 8 (29:55):
Now they're going to read kick it.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
I guess all right.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
So there was a flag thrown on the play, and
so Opelikah will get a chance here. Yeah, they're going
to bring the kickoff team out so that coach Moore
got it be a five yard penalty and they'll line
up and try to kick the extra point. Very heads
play there by Coach More to come in there and
(30:19):
explain that one.
Speaker 7 (30:20):
Did you see that van when it happened?
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Yeah, well they ruled it. I guess a incomplete pass
and he threw it backwards. So and then they inadvertently
blew the whistle because Opelikah could have really fallen on it.
I guess at the ends on and gotten the two
point conversion here, so they don't get a crack at
a point here. That's good coaching right there. Yeah, very
(30:42):
heads up there. So here's Brody Jones to hold Rhys
Beasley for an extra point and it is up and
it is good.
Speaker 7 (30:53):
Grace has done a good job kicking, which.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
I've seen out seven nothing our store.
Speaker 7 (31:01):
That looks a lot better.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
It does look a lot better. Yeah, it certainly does.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
Yeah, I like that.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Well, mag let's head back down there at it looks
like coach Moore got his point across.
Speaker 9 (31:10):
He did, he kept fighting for him. But yeah, it
was when I was right there on the line. He
threw it backwards to him. So but yeah, you hardly
ever see that happen. But you know, coach Moore fault,
you know, far for his team, and I mean, you know,
knew he was right and pushed it and sometimes I
let it go. Okay, we got another flag here. We
got a flag here. It looks like liw ones.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
All right, I want to keep an eye on this.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
Wasn't it.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Sideline warning against Smith's Stations? So I'm sure they weren't
real happy about fighting up for the kick. We'll look
across the way here and coach I'm cracking. You know,
Smith's station's offensive coordinator. Former Bulldog John Wiley is the
(31:55):
offensive coordinator over there.
Speaker 5 (31:57):
Night against US. Yeah, when I was coaching at Lee.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
End over in kick that will sell at the one
yard line. They'll let him bring it out though across
the ten and good coverage down field there by the Panthers.
That was Michel Spencer on the return there for the Panthers,
and he did not get much, didn't get up to
the fifteen yard line. They'll mark him down at the
thirteen yard line.
Speaker 5 (32:20):
Good job right there.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Then, Swink, who's been really good on special teams. On
the stop there for the Bulldogs. They'll mark it actually
at the fourteen yard line. That's where the Panthers will start.
Cohen Thomas will see if they go to the ground game.
Here is his first play from scrimmage. Was a play
action pass intercepted by Keevi and King.
Speaker 7 (32:37):
We got TJ.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
Thomas, Josh Davis, Malake Autree, and Amaris Smiley up front.
Speaker 7 (32:44):
Jakai lightfoot'snop playing tonight.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Quarterback will have a toss play out here near side.
Running back try to turn it up field and push
down of bounds around the twenty one yard line. That
was Nate Malone, number twenty four, tackled by Keevy and King.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
Can't give him that much pan, so that corner's gotta
Contain's gotta come up on that pitch.
Speaker 7 (33:07):
This is a triple option team.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Seven yards. There'll be second down in three up to
the twenty one yard line. Panthers again under center here,
two wings set here. They'll bring a man in motion
fake the toss. It's a quick inside give to Huff.
Huff's got some running room far side. He's got the
first down across the thirty and he's tackled down up
(33:32):
to the thirty five yard line.
Speaker 7 (33:39):
That's the counterplay, and.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
One of our linebackers or defensive end didn't read his
keys properly. Those guards will take you to the ball
in this offense every time.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
That was a thirteen yard run there by Jalen Huff
first down Panthers and Smith's station has it first and
ten from their own thirty five yard line. This is
good practice for what's to come to as kind of
a similar offense. Dothan will run at us here in
a few weeks, quick inside fake to the full back.
They'll go near side, toss play to the running back.
And a good job there. Keiev and King again on
(34:13):
another tackle as he brings down Nate Malone here at
the forty yard line, a five yard pickup though on
the run.
Speaker 5 (34:19):
Now we've got to come up quicker on the pitch,
all right, So this ain't coming up quick enough. And
Caden Harris Tyler Moore's not playing again tonight. Bryan's holding
him out. So we've got Caden Harrison, ty Huts and
the linebackers.
Speaker 7 (34:34):
Devin Dixon and Court Ingram at the corners.
Speaker 5 (34:37):
Carson Moss Tyres Pitts and kiv and King at safety.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Second down in five here for the Panthers. Dog's lead
at seven. Nothing ain't fifteen just underway here in the
first quarter of play. Here's a toss play to huf
far side. He cuts it up, He's going to be
close to the first down. He picks up four yards
up to the forty four court. Ingram comes up on
the stop for the Bulldogs. But it'll be a second down,
our third down and one coming up here for the Panthers.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
Yeah, this is old fashioned triple option right here. They've
got to read their keys up front.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Seven forty seven, the clock running here in this first quarter.
One thing the Panthers would like to do is shorten
this game up absolutely third and a very short one.
Quarterback Thomas under center. He'll toss it back to Huff again,
who's got the first down, and huffs up close to midfield.
Stop shying midfield at the forty nine yard line. That'll
(35:34):
be a four yard pickup needed a yard and gets
the first down.
Speaker 5 (35:38):
We're just giving them too much on the ground right now.
They've driven the ball about thirty yards. They got two
first downs.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Braden Stintson on the stop for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 7 (35:51):
Got to do a better job on defense.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
First and ten, this is where the defensive line coach
for Ropelake has really got to step up here. They
ain't get some penetration.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
Stop the run. Stop the run, Stop the run.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
First in ten, near midfield, Panthers from their on forty
nine yard line, they'll throw a screen pass out far
side of the field. Broke a tackle, fumbled the football,
but out of bounds was the ride wide receiver Kate
and Jackson and court Ingram on the stop and the
hit there for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 5 (36:22):
That actually was a that's a good break for Oklak.
I like them to throw the ball, don't like them
to run the ball.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Just picked up a yard at second down in nine
from midfield. Kind of a surprising call there from coach
Garson as well as they were running the football.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
Yeah, I think you're gonna they're gonna go back to
that triple option and try to get that ball to
pitch back to the tailback.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
Six point fifty two opening quarter clock stopped after that
incomplete pass. Panthers right at midfield, they'll try to pump
fake timped and caught, but right at the line of
scrimmage there by the half back Jalen Huff out of
the backfield, Amari smile. They got a pall on that one,
and that one tipped up nearly intercepted. It's gonna be
third and nine. This is not where the Panthers want
(37:07):
to be in a third and nine.
Speaker 7 (37:08):
Yeah, that was a no gainer on that one.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Interesting they went two straight passes. Yeah, they were running
the football really successfully, and then these two passes have
really kind of put them behind, not where they want
to be in a third and third and nine.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
Here, watch them. They're gonna throw here. This is not
gonna be a play action pass either. They gotta have
nine yards for a first. Had got to keep pressure
on this quarterback.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Dog's leading seven nothing but the Panthers at midfield. They're
trying to move the chains here on a third and
nine from the fifty quarterback Thomas reverse play goes to
Parhum and he's gonna be wrapped up at the forty
eight yard line. I'm already smiling on the stop for
the Bulldogs. That one just two yards and it's fourth
down and here comes the punting group in for the Panthers.
(37:51):
Good stop there by the Bulldog defense a little ben
but don't break. Gave up some yards, but Panthers went
to the air there and.
Speaker 7 (37:59):
They caave up thirty eight yards.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
Van Jamar needs to make sure that catch this ball first.
You know we had a turnover last week.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
There's race Renfro the punter. He got pressured and offisher
will stop the clock.
Speaker 5 (38:20):
What is that called?
Speaker 2 (38:22):
They blew that's from the line judge here, so I
think too many men he's counting up. I think somebody's
got too many men on the field. He was looking
as though he was counting, so this could be they
were waving it off. I think maybe he miscounted.
Speaker 7 (38:39):
Yeah, they miscounted.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
Bulldogs had some really good pressure coming two on. That
punter almost got to a brief whistle it before the
ball he did. He blew it right before they snapped it.
Race renfo again, the punter for the Panthers, helped stand
back inside the forty at the thirty nine to all
await this snap. Good snap, Bulldogs will call off the
(39:01):
pressure there, good spiraling punt and he'll be fielded by
Jamari Miller. He's got a chance to return it here
across the thirty He goes outside across the forty five
across midfield and Miller's pushed out of bounds at around
the forty one yard line. Good return there by Jamari Miller,
will he just missed taking that one to the house.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
That's about a thirty five forty yard How far was
that return?
Speaker 2 (39:24):
See? He caught it at about the twenty five, Yeah,
at the twenty four and then he got all the
way down to the forty one or thirty five yards.
Speaker 7 (39:33):
Forty five yard partner h good, excellent.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
So the Bulldogs will start again with a good field
position at the Smith station forty one Dogs leading seven
to nothing with five those six to play here in
the first quarter, Kobe Key out of the shotgun, Blake
Johnson to the right, and Jordan Waits to the ballgame.
He'll get the hand off and Waits carries across the
thirty five holding onto that footballer they're trying to strip
(39:59):
it alway, and he gets close to nine yards down
to the thirty two yard line.
Speaker 5 (40:03):
Great, great, great blocking up front Epperson, Thomas Lee, Torbard
and Miller.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
So down to the thirty two. It will be second
down in one for the Bulldogs. Waits in the backfield.
He's get the pass at the twenty nine yard line
and breaks a tackle still on his feet inside the
twenty down to the nineteen yard line. That's good for
(40:33):
eleven yards and another first down. Lambert transfer and storage
first down. Great job, four to twenty eight. And the
clock continues to run here in the first quarter, or
at least stopped for the moment here as they move
the change down inside the twenty at the nineteen of
Smith's station.
Speaker 7 (40:55):
Run that football boys.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Key out of the shotgun. Tommy Johnson exit the ballgame
at the tailback spot, and then we'll go to Johnson
here near side and Johnson hint, no check that weight
still in the ballgame. That was wait's down close to
the twelve yard line, close to seven yards on that run.
Cam Jackson comes up makes the stop for the Panthers.
Speaker 7 (41:17):
Yeah, I did a good job right there. Run over
the left side.
Speaker 5 (41:24):
Jeremy Dillard, Keelan Jones, Robert Woods, and Eric Mason. They're
gonna see a lot of time on that offensive line tonight.
Brian said he wants to play a lot of offensive line.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Seck it down in three ball spoted down at the
twelve yard line, here's play action throwing to the end
zone and it is caught is Drew Gagliano in the
end zone. What a great throw from Kobe Key and
he found Drew Gagliano cutting across the field of the
end zone for the Bulldog touchdown. Kobe Key's ninth touchdown
(42:00):
pass up the season, and for Drew Gagliano, that'll be
his first touchdown reception of the season. So good to
see Drew Gagliano getting a touchdown. And it's thirteen nothing
with three twenty eight left here in the first quarter,
and the Dogs again line up in the swinging gate
(42:21):
ball controlled here by snapper Cam Rayley, and they're gonna
go for the two point play. Brody Jones is going
to try to run it right side. He goes ahead
hidings On and he's in there for the two points.
Dog's going swinging gate. Brody Jones takes the snap, runs
to the right towards the pylon and dives in and
ope Laika leading fifteen nothing over the Smiths Station Panthers
(42:44):
three twenty eight left here in the first quarter. That
score and drive power by our friends at Ople likea
power services hometown. People working for you. We're back right
after this time out here on the kicker, Colby Key
(43:07):
a twelve yard touchdown throw to Drew Gagliano, and that's
Kobe Key's ninth touchdown of the season, and the Bulldogs
extend their lead with a two point conversion successful by
Brody Jones on a quarterback run to the right, and
the Dogs leading fifteen. Nothing over this miss Station Panthers,
three twenty eight left here in our first quarter. Pretty
(43:33):
good crowd across the waist, Smiths Station marching band packed
out the stands to the right, returnable bumt here for
the Panthers. They'll bring it across the ten, trying to
find some running room and a nice tackle there by
the Bulldogs downfield at the five yard line. That was
Jalen Nelson on the stop there for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 5 (43:54):
That first kickoff went to the fifteen, this one to
the five. Excellent coverage, excellent Van Riggs.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
So with three twenty left it will be first and
ten for the Panthers. They'll be backed up from their
own eight yard line and a no good feel position
here for the Panthers, they moved the football pretty successfully,
coach on their second trip out their first play from
scrimmage was an interception the Dogs turned into points. But
then Cohen Thomas and the offense went to the ground game.
(44:25):
You said it got over thirty yards, then went to
the air and things kind of stalled out on that
drive and were forced to punt. And we'll see if
they go back to the ground game. Here backed up
on their own eight yard line.
Speaker 5 (44:35):
I'll tell you what. Brian's got two big linebackers in there.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
Cornerback Thomas will go under center, He'll toss play it
out to Huff far side. Huff tries to cut it up.
Stood up nicely though, and then the defense swarms of
us job across the team. But they'll mark Ford progress
up close to the thirteen yard line. Tyresee Pitts was there,
and I had a chance to speak to Tyresee's mom
outside the press box before the game, and coach you
putting me on the spot. She had a fat head
(45:01):
of Tyree and she said, you know who this is.
And I said, wait a minute, now, i'll see him
with helmetsa on. Illn't it'll put me on the spot.
And I said, I'm going to say something really good
about tyree'se tonight. I think he's going to make it,
make a big play. And there he is making one
here in the first quarter.
Speaker 5 (45:13):
He's got a good number two thirteen.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
Up to the thirteen yard line. That was a five
yard pickup. Second down in five here again for the Panthers,
Thomas under center and a quick give to the full
back in shine and its nice job of Ty Hudson
there the linebacker coming down and closing that hole up
quickly picked up.
Speaker 5 (45:36):
Tye is a good looking, physical special and I'm just
telling you he is a.
Speaker 7 (45:43):
Got red hair too, vam redhead.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
Now three yards there on that play up to the sixteen,
it'll be third and two.
Speaker 7 (45:52):
Yeah, they're trying to run this one again.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
Ty's brother Hank, really good baseball player. Both of them
came over in the off season, started over on the
baseball field, both of them playing.
Speaker 5 (46:03):
They call it.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Flag on the plane. I think they're gonna get the Panthers,
at least I should they gonna get the bulldofs. It's
on the off sides. And I was about to say
the Panther players were the one celebrating, So that's going
to give them a first down.
Speaker 7 (46:15):
That's our first penalty. That's their fourth first down.
Speaker 5 (46:22):
Bonnie Thomas is playing with some with Josh Davis at
that tackle where Lightfoot is not playing tonight, Brayden Stintson
and Jordan Stenson are playing some of the inns where TJ.
Thomas and Murray Smiley have started. They're trying to play
a lot of.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
People mall after the penalty up to the twenty one
yard line first and ten Panthers quarterback thought about throwing
now tries to run and Ty Hudson, who we were
just speaking of, there to bring him down for a sack.
He loses a yard back to the twenty yard line.
Speaker 5 (46:56):
Nice tackle. Nice tackle.
Speaker 2 (46:59):
Yeah, Tie is just a he's a very smart football player,
and you know he's always around the football. Coach McCracken,
yess sir, if there is a tackle to be made.
He's kind of flying in there. I think he may
have tripped up what's this funny, Malik Autrey Last week
when Malik was picking up the fumble, it was ty
Hudson flying in there. I think he kind of tripped
up Malik a little bit. And Malik was kind of
(47:20):
thinking scoop and score last week against jag But well,
he's always around the football second down and eleven after
that loss on the play for the twenty yard line,
faking a toss inside. Given, my goodness, I'm a Smiley
all over that one. He swarmed and tackled the handoff
and the quarterback. What at play by Amari Smiley.
Speaker 7 (47:40):
That's about a seven yard loss.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Oh my goodness. That was film study. Their coach he
saw that one on tape and that inside hand all
that Jalen Huff and the quarterback were going down.
Speaker 5 (47:52):
The want to think bad about the triple option. And
when you getting third and long, you ain't got a
whole lot of choices.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
Now back to the sixteen yard line. So that was
a loss, a loss of five. So'll be third and fifteen.
The pressure quarterback under center, he wants to pass straight
drop back throws. It's complete at the twenty two and
good tackle there by cor to Ingram well short of
(48:21):
the first down up around the twenty six yard line,
and there will be a heat time out on the
field as a fourth down is coming up here for
the Panthers. So Smithson, that's the end of the quarter,
I should say, endo the first quarter, as we get
ready to head to the second quarter, a fourth down
coming up here, and the Bulldog's be looking to get
the football back with a fifteen to nothing lead. You're
listing the Bulldog football here on the kicker.
Speaker 10 (48:43):
This is Raven Harvest with H and S Services. Are

That's a game changer.
Speaker 11 (49:13):
This is Carlton Huntley with Lambert transferring storage over like Alabama.
Speaker 2 (49:17):
Hold on, what coach? What coach McCracken, Come on.
Speaker 7 (49:20):
Lambert Tart?
Speaker 4 (49:21):
Why need Hugley transfer?
Speaker 11 (49:22):
Grandfather Lambert started this moving in storage company.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
Now I'm third generation.
Speaker 11 (49:27):
Now I got them boys of mine, Carlton and Brian
running this place.
Speaker 7 (49:31):
Wow, those boys are a little old now, aren't they.
Speaker 11 (49:33):
Yeah, then the forties kind of getting the gray hair
and all. They're bringing life back to the company.
Speaker 7 (49:38):
Maybe I can get them to harm me because you won't.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
Well, I know you better. Coach go off getting set
in the start quarter number two, Smith's station trails Hope
alike of fifteen to nothing and race renfro back out
to punt this one away. He stands at the fort
and kind of puts a shank into this one. It's
(50:02):
gonna be a short punt out of bounds at around
the forty five yard line, depending on where they mark
this one. Now, they'll mark it out at the forty
eight yard line, so the Bulldogs will have it at
the Smith's station forty eight first and ten. We've yet
to see Calvin Hugley coach get a carry tonight. He
may be trying to get a little rest night here.
Speaker 5 (50:20):
Maybe I don't know that was a fourteen yard punt
that helps. I don't know why Calvin's not in there.
He's in there now, is he? Number six? Isn't he?
Speaker 3 (50:30):
He is?
Speaker 2 (50:30):
He is in a game now. So Calvin is in
the ball game.
Speaker 5 (50:33):
Now. He's got that beast with him back there. Johnson,
I'm gonna tell you the good boy. That boy right
there is two hundred and forty pounds. How'd you like
to run behind.
Speaker 2 (50:43):
Behind him and that will be nice.
Speaker 5 (50:45):
He's a good kid too.
Speaker 2 (50:47):
Kobe Key back out quarterback, already a twelve yard touchdown
pass his ninth of the season.
Speaker 5 (50:53):
You can tell he's getting a little bit better each game.
Thing really is athleticism and everything.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
He's thrown some really good passes last couple of weeks.
Competition certainly is gonna pick up down the stretch, and yes, sir,
intensity will be as well. First and ten dogs are
at the forty eight of Smith's station. That'll bring a
man in motion. Key drops back, wants to Throw's got
Brody Jones hooked up and caught at the thirty two
yard line. Good throwing catch, good for sixteen yards and
(51:20):
a Lambert transfer and storage first down.
Speaker 5 (51:24):
Carby's three of three of three for forty four yards.
Speaker 7 (51:29):
That's not bad, man.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
It's a pretty good day at the office so far, sir.
At the thirty two of Smiths after that first down
throwing catch to Brody Jones, Key out of the shotgun,
big boy Blake Johnson moves to the left side of
the line. Calvin'll get his first carry of the game
inside the thirty, inside the twenty five, and he just
got cut down as he hurdles over the twenty five
(51:51):
yard line down to the twenty four. They'll say he
was down at the twenty fives eight and hard on
the stop. But that was a good seven yard run
there by Calvin on him first, Yes, sir, yes, sir,
carry there to'll be secking down in three eleven oh
six left here in this first half fifteen nothing Opelaiko
with the lead over Smith station again. Johnson moves over
(52:14):
to the left side. Key out of the shotgun. They'll
give it to Note fakes it to Hugley. Here is
Jamari on a reverse play inside the twenty and a
good tackle there, No, he broke it. He stays up
at the twenty, he said, the side of the fifteen,
and he's pushed out of bounds at around the twelve
yard line. Boy I thought for sure, Jamarrow he was
going down, and he shook Zaden Hart and stayed on
(52:36):
his feet and was able to pick up a big
run all the way down to the twelve yard line.
That was good for thirteen yards.
Speaker 5 (52:44):
Wow that boy. I was fixing to say that boy
made it, did a good job.
Speaker 2 (52:49):
But I thought he was gonna make a really good tackle.
And then Jamari kind of shook him off like a
rag doll, trying to get the right personnel Washington and
John to the right side here on this first and
ten play at the twelve yard line, they'll give it
to Calvin inside the five. Calvin gonna walk into the
end zone for the touchdown. Kind of had to nudge
(53:10):
his wide receiver who was plucking, but he gets in.
That's Calvin's seventh touchdown of the season, and the Bulldogs
extend their lead twenty one nothing, twelve yard run there
by Calvin Hughley ten thirty six remaining here in our
first quarter, our first half.
Speaker 7 (53:29):
We got seventy two yards rushing.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
Cam Railey lines up and gets the signals from the
sideline the swinging gate, and now they'll come down and
get into field goal formation here. Brody Jones will hold
and Cam Raley will stamp on the extra point here,
and Captain Tonight Rhees Beasley will try to kick up
another extra point. Good, snap, hold, kick up and good,
(53:57):
and the Dogs lead at twenty two nothing over Smith's
station ten thirty six remaining here in the first half
at score and drive power by our friends at Ople
like a Power services hometown. People working for you online
at open Laka power dot com. Back after this time out,
you're listening to Bulldog football here on the kicker fack
(54:20):
here Bulldog Stadium. Ople like a leading Smith's Station twenty
two to nothing, ten thirty six remaining coach, what a
good clean game so far for the Bulldogs, Yes, sir man.
Speaker 7 (54:29):
They're running the ball, they're stopping to run.
Speaker 5 (54:32):
They're making big plays and they're not giving up any
big plays.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
Rest Beasley kicks it down to the three yard line,
returnable here. Four of the Panthers. A good good coverage
downfield on the special teams. Oh Stapham shy of the
twenty yard line. Devin Parham on the return there for
Smith station, but he doesn't get to the twenty, so
that's a win on the kickoff team. Talk to coach
Jamie Ferguson about the goals they have in place every week,
(54:57):
and you don't want to give up the twenty yard line.
Speaker 5 (55:00):
Oh they've got They've run it to the fifteen, to
the five and to the eighteen. Nobody he can't get
no better than that form.
Speaker 2 (55:06):
So starting field position here for the Panthers will be
the nineteen yard line. Their last drive started at the
eight and I think every drive so far for the
Bulldogs coach I started on the other side of the fifty, Yes, sir,
So here comes the Panthers offense back out trailing here
(55:28):
twenty two to nothing with ten twenty seven remaining here
in the first half, Parl will go under center in
that double winged look. They'll bring a man in motion.
They're going to toss it out to Malone. Malone trying
to cut it far side of the field and cuts
it up at the twenty five yard line. They'll mark
him out at around the twenty seven yard line. So
(55:50):
that's a good seven yard pickup.
Speaker 5 (55:53):
Yeah, they got on the edge on us. They're hitting
that edge on us a little bit over there.
Speaker 7 (55:59):
We got a got to stop that.
Speaker 2 (56:04):
Check it out in two coming up. Good run there
by Nate Malone of the Smith's Station Panthers. Good crowd
here homecoming tonight at the Bulldog Stadium, and crowd really
packed out here, and a good crowd up across the
way for the Smith's Station panthersmtz Burg good craft smith
(56:27):
always usually travels good. The marching band, a huge marching
band over it Smiths Station. Well, they'll put on a
good performance here. In just a bit, quarterback thought about
throwing and just scrambles out of bounds on the far side.
I think you may have got back to the line
of scrimmage. Alan Jackson chased him out of bounds. It's
going to be third down and two for the Panthers.
(56:49):
Play failed the game so far.
Speaker 5 (56:51):
They're all for one on third down conversions. That's a
little misleading though, because they hadn't made it to down.
They had a turnover.
Speaker 2 (57:07):
Mary Smiley, Josh Davis, Malik Altree on the defensive line.
Tremaine Thomas also out there.
Speaker 5 (57:18):
We'll run that triple option third and.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
Two, quick inside, give to the full back and he
has hit popped down. He's gonna be short. He is
short of the first down. They really nice stop over there.
Ty Hudson and company stopped him short. It's gotta be
fourth and one coming up here. Oh, they're gonna give
him the first down. Wow, I thought they stopped him short.
I did too, boy. Nine to twenty three left a
(57:49):
first down by the Panthers, and they'll get him the
twenty nine yard lines. We'll be first and ten.
Speaker 7 (57:56):
Minnie Thomas in there for Josh Davis.
Speaker 2 (57:58):
Quarterback tosses it late and down the sidelines. Here goes
the tailback. He's across midfield, breaks another tackle at the
forty five, and he's just tripped up at the forty
two yard line. A huge run before number two court
Ingram tracks him down. That was Nate Malone on a
big carry and he's all the way across midfield and
(58:20):
he gets down to the forty two yard line. That
is a twenty nine yard run there by Nate Malone,
a big first down run by the Panthers.
Speaker 7 (58:29):
Play of the game.
Speaker 5 (58:31):
And he got that on the cutback and they're still
running over there to that strong side. We've got to
do a better job when they go to their right
of containing the runner.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
So here's a quarterback, Thomas under center again, brings a
man in motion, quick give to the full back. He
has stood up right at the forty yard line. Ty
Hudson in there on the stop drives him back. He's
able to pick up two yards down to the forty
That's bad.
Speaker 5 (59:00):
That's better.
Speaker 2 (59:02):
Middle linebacker closing down on that run second down and
ain't coming up for the Panthers ball at the forty
yard line of Opalaika Braden.
Speaker 5 (59:09):
Stinson and George Stenson getting some work. He's trying to
play about seven guys up front. They're doing a lot
of running.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
Here's a pitch again, far side of the field. Broke
a tackle and down inside the thirty five down to
the thirty four yard line was Jalen Huff.
Speaker 5 (59:32):
Were missing some tackles, man, we missed two tackles. Then.
Now here's a big third down right here. We need
to we need to stop them here.
Speaker 2 (59:41):
Buff inside the thirty five down to the thirty four.
It'll be third down and two for the Panthers. Panthers
under center Cohen Thomas, quarterback checks back the sidelines here
on a third and short, seven to twenty two clock
rolling the in the second quarter, Smith station trails over
(01:00:02):
the football though opal like Elite's here twenty two nothing
Thomas under center. Now the man goes in motion. It
will be an option play, but a quick hand off
to the full back for the first down inside the
thirty down of the twenty nine yard line. Carson Moss
on the stop for Opalaiko.
Speaker 7 (01:00:23):
All right, fixing to get to six minutes in the half, So.
Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
Down to the twenty nine yard line on that run,
first in ten Smith station. They've got something cooking again
here on the ground.
Speaker 7 (01:00:34):
Game mortal six up front, gotta do the job under center.
Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
Quarterback Thomas fakes it inside, tosses it out in a
nice stop there by. The Bulldog's gonna lose about three yards.
Tyrese Pitts was there.
Speaker 5 (01:00:52):
I think Carson Moss was in on that too. I
was a good job right there. And how many plays
at they've been minus yards rushing on In fact, that's
just the third play that they've had minus yards rushing.
Speaker 2 (01:01:15):
Mckil spencer was on that run and he did lose
around four yards. Gonna be second down in fourteen coming up.
Ball spotted down at the thirty three. All up, Alika,
They're gonna run over here to the field. Here's a
toss play out to huff. Uff tries to cut it up,
(01:01:36):
nothing there, forced out of bounds near the thirty yard line.
Gonna be third down and eleven coming up here for
the Panthers. Caden Harris was in on the stop for
the Bulldogs on the far side of the field, tracking
down Jalen Huff.
Speaker 5 (01:01:49):
Third and twelve.
Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
Yeah, he's gonna be third and twelve. Ball spotted down
to the thirty one yard line. So we played with
five thirty one and the Panthers letting this clock run here. Coach, yeah,
I know, oh way they are taking their time.
Speaker 5 (01:02:04):
Well, if I'm down twenty two to nothing right now,
I'm trying to score as fast as I can, I'd
get back in the game.
Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
I think coach Garrison is gonna take a time out.
His headsets are off and I think he's looking over
and letting the play clock wind down to one, and
that's where he will take a time out here. So
we'll step aside as well as Smith's station calls a
time out here twenty two nothing at a third and
thirteen coming up for the Panthers. We're back after this
time out. You're listening to Bulldog football here on the
(01:02:32):
kicker out of the time out for the Panthers, five
oh one remaining here in the first tab. Bulldogs lead
at twenty two to nothing. Smith station facing a third
and thirteen at the open like a thirty one yard
line quarterback, well, toss play. They're trying to trick play
(01:02:53):
here with a tailback. Try to throw it and he's
not gonna get away from a league countree he's gonna
bring him down at a thirty six yard line. That
was Nate Malone who got the ball. He was trying
to throw it down field, but Malik Altry was there
to bring him down for a big tackle for loss
and to bring up fourth down.
Speaker 7 (01:03:10):
I'm sure they're gonna go for this. That's a great
job right there.
Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
Elik got him out at the thirty six five yard
loss on the play, and it will be fourth and
seventeen for the Panthers. They'll still go under center at
the Bulldog thirty six yard line. Now the quarterback changing
his play, he'll drop back in the shotgun formation. They
(01:03:35):
try to pooch put it here. Thomas catches it and
puts a boot into this one. Nobody back for the Bulldogs.
I'll let it hit the five that'll roll into the
end zone, so I'll win there for the Opalaka Bulldogs.
Let's sit down and check you mc McCracken with the
four seasons Federal Credit Union Sideline Report. Mac.
Speaker 9 (01:03:52):
Yeah, guys, hey, it's just as you expected down here.
A lot of life, a lot of emotion going on,
a great job, you know. Offensively, they're moving the football,
scoring touchdowns, defensivelyas like you said, Van, the old Ben
don't break methan doing really well. Also with five minutes
to go before half, got an update. Enterprise fourteen Central six.
Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
All right, thanks so much.
Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
MATC.
Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
Hoover leads Prattbell nineteen six. Another seven a score here,
it's twenty two nothing Opelaka leading Smith's station. Bulldog's back
with the football. We'll see Colby keyan company back out.
They'll start from their own twenty yard line and play
action throws here near side to Jamari Miller. Jamari. If
we get a tackle of the twenty five Jamarr down
(01:04:35):
the sidelines across the forty forty five cross midfield. He
got a blind, He's gold, twenty ten five touchdown. Jamari
Miller to the house flag down at the twenty three
yard line. We'll see if this is a blind that
may be coming back. What a great run, Jamari just
outran the defense down the sidelines. Boy. Coach Moore is
(01:04:58):
absolutely livid. I think they trying to get Brody Jones.
I saw it a look like a clean block to me,
and they're gonna call a hold and the coach Moore
is he is coming on glue.
Speaker 5 (01:05:11):
Well we're still gonna We're gonna have great field position
right here.
Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
Three point fifty one left here in the second quarter,
twenty two nothing a touchdown by Jamari Miller wiped off
the board by a holding call and crowned from Opalaika,
letting to be known here as well. Bulldogs will have
it though. First and ten at the thirty five yard line.
(01:05:45):
Key out of the shotgun. The tailback is Jordan Waits.
Weights will move from right to left. Key brings Washington
in motion. They'll fake it to Washington. Key drops back,
pressure steps up. Now he'll take off and run inside
the twenty five and almost pushed into the kicking net.
Kind of holding our breath for a little bit on
that one. But Colby scrambles for a first down as
(01:06:09):
they'll mark him out of bounds at the twenty three
yard line. So that was good for twelve yards and
a Lambert transferring storage first down. Calvin Hugly back in
the ball game at tailback down at the Smith's station
(01:06:30):
twenty three yard line. Key out of the shotgun gets
the stamp. They'll hand it to Calvin Calvin with two
blockers inside the fifteen. Calvin inside the ten and Calvin
down at the nine yard line. That was a fourteen
yard run there by Calvin. Hugly Kate and Jackson in
there on the stop. Boy, coach, you saw those two blockers, Bullety,
(01:06:53):
you thought there's no way Calvin will be denied on
that one.
Speaker 5 (01:06:56):
That was beautiful.
Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
This Urston goal at the nine yard line. Now three
nineteen left here in our first half. Dog's trying to
punch it in here, two white outs to the right,
Calvin Hughley, the loan back Colby Key out of the shotgun.
Key drops back throws to Miller. Miller catches it, but
he's wrapped up nicely there by Kate and Jackson of
(01:07:22):
Smith's station, who was all over Jamari Miller. Yeah, as
they tried to get one outside.
Speaker 5 (01:07:31):
Jalen Washington got you a little bit better blocking her corner.
Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
Second, so that play loses two yards back to the eleven.
It'll be second and eleven and a flag thrown off
sides against Smiths Station, So that'll be.
Speaker 5 (01:07:53):
A that's their first penalty.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Yeah, penalty against Smiths Station here. Interesting, that was a
quick call too. Brody Jones checks of the ball game
here for Opelaikah, we'll see quees. Johnson come out to
(01:08:16):
twenty seven o clock continuing to run here late first half,
Colby Key out of the shotgun. Key gets the snap,
hands it no fax it to Waits. Throws at the
end zone. That one overshot his intended wide receiver Jamari
Miller incomplete, so it will be third and goal from
the six. I think that's the first really off throw
(01:08:41):
we've seen from Colby in a while. Coach McCracken, Yeah,
he was. I think you rushed it a little bit.
There had some pressure coming on though. Tommy Johnson checks
at the ball game now at the tailback spot. Third
down and six coming up here for Opelaikah Dogs. Check
the sideline clock stop with two seventeen left, two white
(01:09:04):
outs to the left side again Johnson, the full are
the halfback. Johnson gets the handoff inside the five, and
Johnson at the one spins in touchdown Bulldogs. Tommy Johnson
gets in for his second touchdown. He had a one
yard run, that one a six yard touchdown run. Two
touchdowns for the senior Tommy Johnson. And you know Tommy's
(01:09:27):
excited to get these touches as he's been behind a
pretty good fullback in Calvin Hughley, but getting the pretty
good dose to him tonight, Yes, sir, two eleven remaining
the swinging gate look here by the Bulldogs. They'll bring
everybody in now and go for the extra point here
with two eleven remaining in this first half of play,
(01:09:50):
Cam Railey to snap, Brody Jones to hold Rhys Beasley
for the extra point. Good snap down in the kick,
nearly block, got in there, got in there pretty good
on that one. Twenty nine nothing though, opal like eleading
Smith's station. Just two eleven remaining here in our first half.
We're back after this time out. You're listening to Bulldog football.
(01:10:12):
Here on the kicker Tommy Johnson a six yard touchdown
run and the Opalaika Bulldogs elead at twenty nine nothing
over Smith's station. Van Riigs losside, Coach Spence cracking down
on the sidelines, Jason Lee helping us spot tonight. And
(01:10:33):
here's Reese Beasley getting set to kick this one away
and just two eleven remaining here in this first half.
Speaker 7 (01:10:41):
It's been a good, clean first half.
Speaker 4 (01:10:43):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
It certainly Hams.
Speaker 7 (01:10:45):
They really liked the way we're playing.
Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
And Reece Beasley kicks that one into the end zone.
Speaker 5 (01:10:49):
You know, he's getting better and better to me since
the Auburn game when he was forced into the game.
He's really really done a fine job.
Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
Two eleven left.
Speaker 7 (01:11:06):
And we don't need to let up here.
Speaker 5 (01:11:08):
I think Smith's is probably gonna be content to let
this run out, but we need to get the ball back.
We've got enough time. We got our timeouts left, don't we.
Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
Yeah, all three timeouts Smith Station has on burned the
only time out we've used here in the first half,
and they'll have it first in ten from their on
twenty yard line. Bulldogs will get the football also to
start the second half.
Speaker 5 (01:11:33):
You know, they've had the ball more than we've had it.
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
Snaps Thomas the quarterback will pitch it here near sight.
Another good run tackle made by Ty Hudson as he
chased down Jalen Huff at the twenty eight yard lines.
That's an eight yard pickup there by the Jalen Huff.
Speaker 7 (01:11:51):
They getting some yards on the ground. Van Yeah, those options.
Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
You know, Coach Massey and this bunch is certainly going
to like to go back and watch this film because
you know, in a couple of weeks you're gonna play
an offense very similar to this in DOFO. Yeah yeah,
second down in two Anthers from their on twenty eight
yard line, fake the toss, quick inside hand off in
a nice tackle back of the twenty yard line, big
(01:12:15):
time stied by Mary Smiley's and a time out taken,
time out taking my opel Ainka trying to maybe get
the football back with a minute thirty one, a big
loss and it'll be a big third down coming up
here for the Smith's Station Panthers, and we'll be back
right after this word from center State Bank. One thirty
(01:12:41):
one to go here in the first tab, Bulldogs burning
a time out after a big time loss on the
play as Mary Smiley was back in there and had
a big tackle for loss. And this force is now
what was a second down in two A third and
eight after a six yard loss on that tackle.
Speaker 5 (01:13:00):
Snaps fan, and we've had it eighteen that's hard to.
Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
Believe, Yes, it certainly is.
Speaker 5 (01:13:07):
We've thrown the ball a lot better tonight, and we've
got a more big yardage plays than they have.
Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
One thirty one left, third down and eight coming up
here for Smith Station. Thomas under center drops back, wants
to throw here near side has it complete, but a
nice job wrapping them up at the twenty six yard
line was Kaden Harris, the linebacker coming over making a
quick stop of the Panthers. We'll have to settle for
(01:13:45):
another time out taken by the Bulldogs here fourth and three,
opal Mico will try to get the football back a
Smith Station's gonna have to punt it away here. It's
a fourth and four coming up.
Speaker 5 (01:13:54):
Smith's is four or five throwing the ball and they've
now run.
Speaker 7 (01:14:01):
Twenty six snaps.
Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
Yeah, this will be a fourth and three coming up.
Speaker 5 (01:14:05):
They have no big they have one big play van,
which is a run over ten or a pass over fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
So a fourth and three and a time out on
the field taking biop like a mac. Dog's no opportunity here.
Maybe get the football back in the end zone before
the half.
Speaker 9 (01:14:23):
Yeah, definitely, gonna definitely take another shot. And you know
how you like you're saying, I know, you know, of
course we got games before this, and we gotta finish
this one. But yeah, we're gonna see an offense like
this in about two.
Speaker 8 (01:14:34):
Weeks, so I've got ever seeing it now.
Speaker 7 (01:14:37):
That's what Van Riggs was just saying, all.
Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
Right out of the time out punting time. As race
Renfro back out for the Panthers, he stands at around
the thirteen yard line, and as Jamari Miller back deep
for the Bulldogs, he'll wait around his own forty five
yard line. Good snap and a good high booming boot
into this one. Jamari will catch it, tries to return it,
makes a man and miss Jamari across midfield and Jamari
(01:15:02):
slung down to the forty six yard line. Good tackle
there by Javon Jones.
Speaker 4 (01:15:09):
Return.
Speaker 5 (01:15:09):
Isn't it something like that? See?
Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
He got yeah close to it.
Speaker 5 (01:15:15):
He sure did.
Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
Forty six yard line. That'll be the starting field position.
So Opelika back with the football. Here's Kobe Key out
of the shotgun at the forty six yard line of
Smith's station. Key drops back, wants to throw, steps up
(01:15:43):
nobody there. Key will pull it now and run and
hit right at the thirty six yard line, out of
bounds and a flag thrown there, I believe on Smith's station,
and it's going to be a fifteen yard A little
talking after a hard hit on the quarterback. That was
enough for a first down as it got twelve yards
on the scramble by Kobe Key, and then I think
(01:16:15):
Key was a little fired up after that hit. Coach.
I think I'll say he.
Speaker 5 (01:16:21):
Got a hit right when he hit the sideline he did.
Speaker 2 (01:16:24):
I think he was steal in bounds when he was.
Speaker 5 (01:16:25):
In and could play, he shouldn't have.
Speaker 7 (01:16:28):
Smith's station did a no no here, So.
Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
A dead ball and sportsmanlike conduct against Smith's station. So
that'll be a big fifteen yard pill and you're almost
hand in the Bulldogs. Just excellent field position down to
the twenty one now still a minute five left and
open like a steal with one time out to work
with here and the dog.
Speaker 5 (01:16:51):
Yards twenty yards in penalties on them fifteen for us.
Speaker 2 (01:16:55):
Dogs will try to punch it in here in late
first half one oh five to go open like a
leading twenty nine to nothing. Jamari Miller lines up as
wide out to the left, also lined up wide to
the left as Brody Jones tail back back in the game.
As Calvin Hugley Key gets the snab, they'll hand it
to Calvin. Calvin trying to find some running room, cuts
it inside the fifteen, Calvin inside the ten, and Calvin
(01:17:16):
cut down at around the nine yard line before a
flag comes in and we'll see Jericus Wheat on the
stop for the Panthers. Is this a whole downfield?
Speaker 5 (01:17:27):
Yeah? I think so.
Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
On the Bulldogs, this could be one that backs Opalaika back.
Speaker 5 (01:17:34):
He made about fifteen yards on that didn't he he did?
Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
And if it was a block down field, I don't
think it was a very necessary one, unless it was
that one block that opened him up when he cut in.
But that was way out of our view that I
was watching on the NFHS. MIANTFHS network may have a
better view of it, but that will back it back
(01:17:59):
to the two twenty one yard line. Not a holding penalty,
basically back to the line of scrimmage and a redo
here first and ten. That's a holding fifty eight seconds
left here in the first half. Hope like a leading
twenty nine nothing over Smith's station. Calvin against Day's in
the ballgame at the tailback spot. Keiva's quarterback gets the stamp,
quick hand off again to Calvin right up the middle.
(01:18:19):
Calvin stayed on his feet of the fifteen. Calvin cutting
it outside, stayed on his feet, broke another tackle inside
the ten. Calvin spins at the five, stays on his
feet at the four, still trying to push his way
down towards the end zone. The Bulldogs come in, the
offense pushes him in touchdown. Holy cow, what ain't play?
Calvin got hung up at the four and then the
Dogs came to the rescue. Touchdown thirty five nothing with
(01:18:47):
thirty three seconds left. Wow. The crowd gets a good
look at a replay on this one. Coach Calvin inside
the five yard line was hint staying in bound, spun
back in bounds, and there's Jamari Miller coach holding and
picking him up, and then there comes Big Lee and
the whole offensive line to push him in the end
(01:19:07):
zone for a touchdown. Wow, what a play. Thirty five
nothing Now as a Dog punched it in right before
half here thirty three seconds left, reach Beasley in for
the point after Brody Jones will hold. Folks, listen on
the radio. You'll get a replay of this one during
the week. Watch that run. There's a false start on
(01:19:28):
the kicking team, a little couple head nods there and
it'll be a five yard penalty.
Speaker 5 (01:19:34):
Kemdn Riley a little too quick van the story of
this staff. I'm just telling you. Ten big plays by Opaca.
Speaker 7 (01:19:45):
One by Smith's Stations.
Speaker 5 (01:19:48):
A big play being a run of ten or more,
a pass of fifteen or more, awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
Snap down, the kickup and the up and it is good.
Dogs extend their lead thirty six nothing over the Smiths Station.
Panthers just thirty three seconds left here in the first half,
scoring drive and power by Oplea likea power services hometown
people working for you online at opelikapower dot com. We're
back after this thirty second time out. You're listening to
(01:20:18):
Bulldog football here on the kicker back here at Bulldogs
say A Stadium. Another highlight reel run for mister Calvin
Hughley as he punches it in and that is Calvin's
tenth touchdown of the season, and Bulldogs extend their lead
(01:20:42):
thirty six nothing over Smith's Station. Little onside kick a
temp and the Dogs got it down at the forty
four yard line. Opalika gets the football with thirty one
seconds left.
Speaker 7 (01:20:54):
Brian Moore told.
Speaker 5 (01:20:55):
Me that they've been practicing that uh for hurting opponents,
so hey, what a better time to practice now.
Speaker 7 (01:21:04):
I would think that the Smith's Station people will be.
Speaker 5 (01:21:07):
A little hot coach more about what baby, So yeah,
he might get some threatning calls at the house to Bay.
Speaker 2 (01:21:14):
That was kind of Josh hypolite from Tennessee the other
week when we were up thirty and did the on sidekick.
Speaker 5 (01:21:19):
But I wouldn't travel over to Smith's station for any
kind of shopping or anything if I was Bryan and
his wife.
Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
Hey, you gotta work on it. It's a football game.
It's still the second quarter, right down at the forty
four yard line, first and ten, Opolaika and here's kolbe
Key drops back throws and Miller's got it at the
thirty five. Miller turns and spins up at the thirty
and broke another tackle. Nope, didn't break that. When he's
down to the twenty eight yard law twenty nine yard line.
May have lost a yard there on the extra effort,
(01:21:50):
but he does get the first down down to the
twenty nine yard line, and the clock continues to run
here down to seventeen. He tries to get under it
and we'll spank it, I think, coach, you know what,
Coach Morles to work on a little scenario here, like
you know, got to come back in a game, sir,
you know where you got to work on it in
live action with a crowd around you, and you know,
an opponent not wearing the same jersey as you, and
(01:22:14):
you know, pel like it was at a situation last
year coach laid in a couple of games where they
had to try to come back and make a drive
and were unsuccessful.
Speaker 5 (01:22:21):
I remember that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:22):
I remember that enterprise one of them. Both in the
game we were doing on sidekicks trying to come back late.
Opelika as trips receivers out into the left, single receiver
here to the right side, and Key drops back. Key
looked near side. It has caught. This is Quees Johnson
(01:22:43):
Quez inside the twenty down close to the seventeen yard line.
Seven seconds left, and that will burn the final time
out for Opelika and may bring in uh Rhys Beasley,
coach and give him a shout at the field.
Speaker 5 (01:22:59):
Go for what I'm thinking it gonna do.
Speaker 2 (01:23:02):
Just seven seconds left time out on the field, Matt McCracken,
what you're thinking about everything.
Speaker 9 (01:23:06):
Let's see, we got we got no more time outs,
and we got seven seconds, so you could take a
shot here on a you know, on a pass with
enough time to left for one field goal. So I
you know, and coach Morris is trying to get him
better and better and better because you're gonna be in
this situation on down the road of the season.
Speaker 5 (01:23:21):
So I really like this.
Speaker 9 (01:23:22):
They're trying to, you know, like dad, like you said,
Coach Moore said, he's gonna try some new things here,
new things he's working on. You know, they're going for
two a couple of times in this game, and then
you got the on side kick. They're just trying new
things here because you're gonna run into this with those
you know, five more regular season games to go after this,
so you know it's exciting. But let's see if they
take a shot down here in the end zone Van
(01:23:44):
you know, if not, they go for the you know,
field goal.
Speaker 5 (01:23:45):
Hey, MATC, you might want to see if coach Moore
might to hire you as a bodyguard over the weekend
if he travels to Smith Station.
Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
Go all right, just seven seconds left. It is the
offense coming back. Yeah, yeah, I look at this five
wide Look here three There was three receivers left at
a false start. A wide receiver got an early jump
over here on the right side of the field. But
I don't see a flag, no flag. I don't know
if they had it set.
Speaker 5 (01:24:14):
Clock wasn't said.
Speaker 2 (01:24:15):
Now, it wasn't said. So that was a break there
for the Bulldogs. Seven seconds left, thirty six nothing. Oh,
Pelaika with the lead trips receivers to the left, single
receiver to the right side of the field. Again a
five wide look here for the Bulldogs. Here just seven
seconds left, kolbe Key drops back, throws a deep shot
to the end zone and it is intercepted by the
(01:24:38):
Panthers in the end zone. Good coverage down there by
Smith's station and that one was picked off. And that
is Kobe Key's first interception of the season. That will
end the first half thirty six nothing. At the end
of the first half and coming up, of course, we'll
get a chance to catch up with coach Moore going
(01:24:58):
into the locker room. Bulldogs with a thirty six nothing lead.
Mac McCracken working to catch up with coach mor as
he makes his way into the locker room. Hopefully Coach
Moore's voices back a little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:25:12):
He was.
Speaker 2 (01:25:14):
He was in rough shape earlier, about lost his voice
this week coaching up the guys as we are midway
through the season, Mac, take it away.
Speaker 8 (01:25:24):
Coach Moore, I know you know from last week to
this week, I know you really pushed on the boys.
Speaker 9 (01:25:28):
Hey, bigger plays. We need to make big plays on offense.
They move the ball and then you go up against
a good misdirection offense. For our defensive, how do you
think they did so for.
Speaker 4 (01:25:36):
The first half defensively giving up some drives, but starry
to fit things faster. I've said before it's really hard
to simulate that at practice, regardless of you know, how
you're working in their scouts. We settled in and we're
better about squeezing stuff and being tighter, which was good
right there. That last drive was disappointing, but a great
teachable moment because we have seven seconds, got times nine
(01:25:57):
for two plays. We let the corner slopt off and
we'll throw the corner route where we would have kicked
the field goal. So we'll learn from that. We're gonna
go in and correct this. Good for Kobe to go
through that moment, but please with us, I asked, the
best half we've played so far, but we got to
do it again. Now let's go coach them up. Thanks, Matt.
Speaker 2 (01:26:13):
All right, that's Mike McCracken with head coach Brian Moore.
Heading into the locker room, thirty six nothing our score here.
Jason Lee's gonna come back here and just to bit
and run through some of our halftime stats. The Spirit,
I should say, the Panther Spirit marching band getting ready
to perform here in front of the fans here at
Bulldog Stadium. But it's Opalaika with a thirty six nothing
lead here at the half halftime. Brought to you by
(01:26:35):
Gory's Furniture. Gory's Furniture Express locally and operated by Jim
and Pam Gory. If you need furniture, Gory's Furniture Express
is your furniture headquarters, located off Highway one sixty nine
in Oplaika. Jim and Pam. Jimmy and Pam do an
awesome job. And I tell you anytime to see my
wife come through the doors or high five in each
other because they know they've got to sale. Coach McCracken,
I know you've been there. Gory's Furniture as well. It's
(01:26:55):
about five football fields link there and there is a furniture.
If there's a piece of furniture you need, they got it.
Speaker 7 (01:27:03):
Hey, we got our sofas from out there and.
Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
We've gotten about ten tables from them, and I keep
asking my wife why do we eat another table? But anyway,
they love the Riggs family when they come in as
we're buying some furniture. Thirty six nothing our score at
the half, ope like eleading Smith's station. Back after this
time out, you're listening to Bulldog football here on the
kicker foral come back as we get ready to start
(01:27:33):
the second half, Hope like a leading thirty six nothing
dogs sent to receive.
Speaker 5 (01:27:41):
Three.
Speaker 2 (01:27:52):
Okay, there was a time penalty issued on the opalika
for the extended link there of halftime. That's the reason
they're gonna be kicking it here from the forty five
and a short kick by the Panthers and it will
be fielded at the thirty yard line and caught by
Jordan Waits and out of bounds right at the thirty.
So that's where the Bulldogs will start first in ten.
(01:28:15):
Hope like a leading thirty six to nothing as we
start the second half, Coach, the question now goes is
how long do you go with the starters and.
Speaker 5 (01:28:25):
Line?
Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
How long do you before you start subbing some guys
in here?
Speaker 5 (01:28:30):
Yeah, he's gonna go one. He's probably gonna go one time.
Speaker 2 (01:28:35):
Yeah, we'll see second group of wide receivers in a
couple of backups in there at the running back position,
but it will be the first team quarterback Colby Key
giving a handoff here to Waits near side. Waits good run,
hit out of bounds and slung out of bounds at
the forty one yard line. That'll be enough for a
Lambert transfer in storage, first down, eleven yard pickup there
(01:28:57):
the job Luke Maguire on the stop.
Speaker 7 (01:29:00):
That's another big play too.
Speaker 5 (01:29:02):
A ten yarder is a big play, and heck boy,
are we getting a lot of them tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
Van Shine gun formation for Key, first and ten from
his own forty one yard line. Jalen Washington goes in motion.
They'll give it to Jalen on his toss play speed
sweep far sign Jalen bottled up and still cushing the pile.
(01:29:28):
Quick whistle though, give him the forty seven yard line,
so seven yards thereby Jalen Washington on a speed sweeps
eight and hard on the stop. Slade Clayton in the
game for the Bulldogs. Julian Bridgett also big tight end,
(01:29:50):
and Washington and Quiz Johnson your white outs to the
right side here on a second down and four at
the forty seven yard line. Just underway here in the
second half, thirty six nothing again, Opelaika with the league.
Clayton moves up to the right side, hand off goes No,
it's a play action. Kobe rolls right, throws and a
(01:30:13):
nice catch here by Johnson and Johnson cut down at
the thirty three yard line. He hooked up with Quez
Johnson and it was Kate and Jackson on the stop
for Smith's station. But a Lambert transfer and storage first down.
Good throw, good catch is that play is good for
twenty yards?
Speaker 5 (01:30:33):
Well, I tell you what, We're just eating them up
on big place tonight. That's a great throw catch.
Speaker 2 (01:30:41):
And out I formation. Look here Slade Clayton the full back,
and Jordan waits. No, Tommy Johnson dots the I play action.
Key was pressured, stepped up in the pocket, avoids the pressure.
Now we'll throw down field. Tipped and nearly intercepted. That
one was tipped. I think Slade and Clayton went up
for it. Quez Johnson also tried to get there. And
there's a flag. I think they're gonna have an ineligible
(01:31:03):
man downfield.
Speaker 7 (01:31:06):
Well, Kobe did a good job of stay out of
that side.
Speaker 2 (01:31:08):
Kobe almost got blindsided. He did a good job, you're right, coach,
of avoiding the pressure there the Smiths station. I think
it was a defensive lineman there on that right side
that came in.
Speaker 5 (01:31:23):
Jackson Jackson Lee still center in Carmel Tobert, David Miller,
Kyle Epperson, and Tremaine Thomas still up front. I've seen
Keelan Jones play some Robert Woods, Eric Mason, and Jeremy
Dillard of the twos, I'm sure that they're subbing them into.
Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
True Gangliano checks of the game at tight ends late
Clayton also in their Man in Motion here is Kobe
Key gives it to Jordan Waits Waits left side, some
running room cross the thirty Waits down to the twenty
six yard line. Good running close to six yards there
by Jordan Waits, Javon Jones on stop for the Panthers.
Speaker 5 (01:32:01):
I tell Waits and Hugley have really really improved with
the way they're running the football.
Speaker 7 (01:32:07):
The smoothness, uh not.
Speaker 5 (01:32:11):
I don't.
Speaker 7 (01:32:11):
I don't know, Van, It's just that they look different
than they did last year.
Speaker 2 (01:32:15):
Yeah, injury on the field time out as a player
on the field. Well head down for four seasons Federal
credit units sideline report. Matt, what was the message in
the locker room?
Speaker 9 (01:32:24):
Well, I was with the coaches and they were just
talking about just different schemes to run, getting more people
in you know, just see some playing time. Really wasn't
uh Coach Moore didn't really address the team, uh, you
know with home coming off just got them off the field.
Speaker 8 (01:32:37):
But you know, a lot a lot of individual meetings
with the coaches and.
Speaker 9 (01:32:40):
Their players about uh, you know, uh, execution and getting
more getting more people in the game.
Speaker 2 (01:32:45):
This evening, all right, See the still a lot of
second string linemen in the game now, and most of
your second group of wide receivers in there, Tommy Johnson,
Slade Clayton. Really you've got Jackson, Lee Handled the snaw
Apps coach, and other than that, Colby Key's pretty much
you're only set starters that are still in the ball game.
Speaker 5 (01:33:06):
Yeah, we got a lot of those second string linemen
that we're in there.
Speaker 2 (01:33:10):
Key out of the shotgun, hands the ball to Johnson.
Johnson close to the first down, but it's going to
be stopped short at the twenty four yard lines where
they're gona mark him now. I think picked up a
yard maybe two. It'll be third down and two coming up.
(01:33:32):
So third and two, eight fifty four remaining here in
the third quarter, Dogs up thirty six nothing. Julian Pritchett
checks of the ball game. Two tight end set here
I formation for the Bulldogs. Colby Key checking the sidelines.
Thought about checking out of the play fourteen on the
play clock back under center. Here on a third and
(01:33:53):
two hand off is the Waits. He's got the first down,
He's got more inside the fifteen. Waits stop down at
the thirteen yard line. A Lambert transfer in storage, first down.
Javan Jones on the stop for the Panthers. Good looking
run there, twelve yard pickup, Lambert transfer and storage, first
down down to the fourteen, first and ten Washington tws.
(01:34:20):
Johnson check back in the ball game here for the Bulldogs.
Here is kolbe Key out of the shotgun again, Waits
the tailbag. Waits gets the hand off. Wait stood up
at the ten, pushing the pile ahead down close to
(01:34:42):
the eight yard line. That's where they'll that's where they'll
corral Waits. Finally, but a six yard run there by
Jordan Waits Zayden Hart from the safety position again has
to make the stop six yard pickup. Seck it down
in four coming up here for the Bulldogs seven twenty
(01:35:06):
eight left. Here in the third quarter, I drive by.
Speaker 7 (01:35:11):
All Polay cut yeah, blocking running the football, catching the
football been.
Speaker 2 (01:35:17):
Great Dogs really just kind of moving the football at
will down the field. Here Key brings a man in motion.
Key out of the shotgun, rolls to the right side,
throws and in and out of the hands. Caught and
in the end zone with the Bulldog touchdown, Slade Clayton
gets him a score out of fourth boy. Slade almost
(01:35:38):
scored earlier this season and got denied at the one.
He didn't get denied that time. Slade Clayton in the
end zone. But the Bulldog touchdown, well, I'm proud of Slade.
Good job. It's eighty six on that catch, forty two
nothing Bulldogs with the lead six point fifty eight. Only
Slayed's such a good kid too, and glad he was
(01:35:59):
able to find in the end zone. He gets a
big pat on the helmet on the sideline here from
Bennett Young, who's unable to go tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:36:07):
How long was that touchdown, extra point up and good.
Speaker 2 (01:36:11):
That was a eight yard touchdown catch by mister Clayton.
It was six minutes and fifty eight seconds left in
the third quarter. There's an open like a Power Services
score and drive Opal like a Power Services hometown. People
working for you online at opal lakapower dot com forty three.
Nothing is a tow truck hauling somebody out of here
(01:36:31):
at Bulldock Stadium, we're back after this time out here.
On the kicker, Slave Clayton eight yard touchdown catch for
the Bulldog touchdown.
Speaker 4 (01:36:47):
I know, I know.
Speaker 2 (01:36:51):
Papa Clayton will be happy about that one too. Down
there on the sidelines, there's an end over end kick,
high kick from Rhese Beaslee and that'll send the return
guy to the two. They'll try to return. And nice
tackle down there. That was then Swank and I believe
also again Jalen Nelson down there on the style that
(01:37:13):
was Luke maguire who tried to bring that one back.
And again that kicking team special teams unit from Jamie
Ferguson it doing a great job covering those kicks.
Speaker 5 (01:37:20):
That thirteen yard line that that is awesome. Good job
by Rhys Beasley.
Speaker 2 (01:37:28):
Panthers have not had good field positioned tonight starting and
that is really big when you run an offense like this.
Speaker 5 (01:37:35):
Yeah, and you know, if you start from the ten
closest to you got a ten percent chance to score.
Speaker 7 (01:37:41):
So keeping them backed up like.
Speaker 2 (01:37:43):
That, starting from the fourteen yard line, they'll hand it
right side and a good run again here by number
four and that is Jalen Huff, the sophomore running back.
Tell you what Coach Smith's station. You know, if they'll
stick around and continue doing what they're doing, this is
a good plan they've got. They got a lot of
(01:38:03):
young kids here.
Speaker 7 (01:38:05):
They don't have a very good passing game.
Speaker 5 (01:38:08):
They did it. They didn't have a fifteen yards throwing,
but they had one hundred yards rushing, So you know,
I think y' ought to stick with that running game.
Speaker 7 (01:38:16):
They do a good job with that triple option.
Speaker 2 (01:38:19):
From the twenty three. It'll be second down in one
here for the Panthers, Thomas under center, Thomas an inside give.
They try to give it again to Huff and he's
gonna be bottled back for about a two yard loss.
Nice job by Kaden Harris on the stop there for
Bull for the Bulldogs, and there's a Panther player down
on the field. Time out, injury time out here. It'll
(01:38:40):
be a third and two coming up here for the Panthers.
We're back after this time out, Dogs on top forty
three nothing over the Smiths Station. Panthers here on the kicker,
third down run for the first down for the Panthers.
That will move the chains up to the twenty five
yard line. Other good run there by Jalen Huff up
(01:39:01):
to the twenty five yard line. So out of that
injury timeouts in the station able to pick up the
yardage needed for the first town. They trail here forty
three nothing, five eighteen to play here in the third quarter,
Thomas under center, wants to drop back and throw, but
a stopage in play here. I'll start against Smith's Station.
(01:39:24):
Is the early indication here we got all.
Speaker 5 (01:39:26):
We got our number two's in there now on defense,
a defensive line Braden Stenson, Monty Thomas, and Jordan Stenson.
Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
Well, it'll be an opportunity here for these guys who
played on Monday night against this starting group for Smith's Station,
to show that they can play a little bit better here, sir,
first in fifteen after that five yard penalty back to
the twenty yard line here first in fifteen. Thomas goes
under center. It's the snap drops back, wants to throw
(01:40:08):
look deep now, pressure rolls right and just has to
throw it down and got it passed the line of
scrimmage Tremaine Thomas on the pressure there and it falls incomplete.
It'll be second down to fifteen. Not much like you said,
coach through the air.
Speaker 5 (01:40:25):
Oh they don't. They're passing game, not real good.
Speaker 2 (01:40:34):
Four thirty three left, second down in fifteen coming up
here for Smith's station, forty three nothing again our score
all o Polaika here tonight so far Thomas under center
(01:40:54):
here on second and fifteen steps back, wants to throw
far side. It's complete. Pushed out of downs inside the
twenty five up to the twenty six yard line. That'll
be good for six yards. Quez Johnson, all right, here
comes your third down. Converson jack Cody Jackson all the
(01:41:19):
stop there, third down and nine coming up here for
the Panthers. Four twenty seven left.
Speaker 5 (01:41:29):
Get a good pass rush here the.
Speaker 2 (01:41:30):
Third quarter and a stop of Jen Blay and I
believe another movement against Smith's station.
Speaker 7 (01:41:37):
Five more yards.
Speaker 2 (01:41:38):
Dogs were showing some pressure there and got the Panthers
to jump, So that'll back things back five yards back
again to the twenty one yard line. Panthers keep shooting
themselves on the foot here and they're facing a third
(01:41:59):
in law now third and fourteen four to twenty five
left here in this third quarter. Thomas again under center here,
straight drop back pressure and he's going down sacked back
at the sixteen yard line. Josh Davis on the sack
(01:42:22):
there for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 5 (01:42:23):
Sir Josh started tonight two hundred and seventy five pound.
Speaker 2 (01:42:27):
Junior, and it is punning time for the Panthers. Jamari
Miller trites out. He'll stand at around the forty five
yard line of Smith's station. The punter is standing on
his own two yard line here awaiting this snap, and
the punters race Renfro. He's been a busy guy tonight,
catches it at the three and puts a line drive boot.
(01:42:49):
They don't want to give Jamari a chance to return
this one, and Jamori will have to let this one
bounce around the thirty eight yard line. So good starting
field position for the Bulldogs. They'll start at the Smith
station eight yard line, first down in ten coming up in. CJ.
Sankey the quarterback now trotting out and coming out here
for the Bulldogs. Here with three forty three remaining here
(01:43:10):
in this third quarter of play, we'll see also who.
Speaker 5 (01:43:14):
Got the offensive line Dillard, Jones, Woods, and Mason for
the Dogs. CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:43:22):
Pink also checks to the ballgame. He'll be the tailback
here on first and ten. First and ten Bulldogs at
the thirty eight of Smith's station. Stamp goes to Pink
on the hand off nearside. Pink some good running inside
the thirty inside the twenty five, and there comes a
flag in The're gonna get a hold downfield on one
(01:43:45):
of the Bulldogs. That hold was thrown from the back.
Judge five left here in the third and blocking the
back gonna be the call against Opalaiko.
Speaker 5 (01:44:05):
Yeah right, we have twenty five yards in penalties in
the first half. That's our first one. We need to
clean that up. No, we're gonna run that edge a
life with those sweets. You can't can't hold people.
Speaker 2 (01:44:21):
Clark starts back three twenty five and running here in
the third quarter. Jalen Nelson now a tail back in
the ball game, to the left of c. J. Sanky.
We saw Jalen with a big thirty plus yard run
back thanked to him. CJ's rolling left, wants to throw
on the run and has a complete request Johnson inside
the twenty five out of bounds. They'll mark him down
(01:44:43):
at the twenty three yard line. Good throw and catch
for Jalen Nelson. Jalen good for fifteen yards and elaborate
transfer and storage first down.
Speaker 7 (01:44:54):
That's another big play too.
Speaker 5 (01:44:56):
Jalen Nelson is gonna be whoa, he's a good He's
the fastest scout on our team.
Speaker 7 (01:45:02):
Man, he's only a tenth.
Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
Grade six foot one hundred and sixty five pounds sophomore. Yes, sir,
thank you out of the shine gun here on first
and ten at the twenty three. This time they give
is to Nelson and a good rundown close to the
fifteen yard line.
Speaker 7 (01:45:20):
Golley ain't dragging him along with him.
Speaker 2 (01:45:23):
Mark him down to the sixteen yard line. That is
good for close to seven yards on that run. Second
down and three coming up for the Bulldogs as we
wind under two twenty to go here in the third
quarter forty three nothing ope like eleading Smith's station. Van
Riggs alongside coach Spence McCracken. Mike mccrack of rumbing the sidelines,
and Jason Lee is our spotder tonight for the Orthopedic
(01:45:47):
Clinic Broadcast booth. Second and four play. C J rolling's
right right, looking down field and now going to tuck
it and run and chased out of Aunds around the
ten yard line, and that will be enough for the
first down. That's a Lambert transfer in storage first down,
so nothing open down field. CJ wisely tucks it and
gets the first down. Out'll be first in goal at
(01:46:07):
the ten yard line for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 5 (01:46:11):
That's five first downs in this Half's keeping the ball,
run the football, keep doing this.
Speaker 2 (01:46:23):
CJ Pink back in the ball game and running back.
Speaker 5 (01:46:28):
CJ's just a tenth grader.
Speaker 2 (01:46:34):
And CJ sink. We'll give it to CJ Pink left side, touchdown,
CJ inside the five, and he's in the ends on
with the Bulldog touchdown forty nine nothing with one eleven
left in the third quarter. Second group of offense comes
in and moves the ball nicely down the field and
CEJ Pink gets a touchdown, so that's a ten yard rush.
(01:47:00):
CJ sank for the score and the Bulldogs add to
their lead forty nine nothing. And now we'll see a
young kicker get an opportunity here. Coach, this is Trevon Heard.
Speaker 7 (01:47:13):
He's not a ninth grader or ten they.
Speaker 2 (01:47:16):
Got I'm listed as a junior here.
Speaker 5 (01:47:18):
Junior.
Speaker 2 (01:47:19):
Yeah, the extra point and good. So it's fifty to
nothing now OP like a leading over Smith station. That
score and drive power by open like a power services
hometown people working for you online at opelikapower dot com.
We're back after this time out here on the kicker
(01:47:47):
back here inside a Bulldog stadium. One to eleven left
here in the third quarter, fifty to nothing now op
like a leading over Smith station. Andrhys Beasley has it
teed up, getting set to kick it from left to right.
Speaker 5 (01:47:59):
Let's kick off team has really been good tonight, Van
they have. I mean they didn't get the ball past
the twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:48:05):
Yard line deep kick and dropped at the five yard
line by the Panthers. Now kicked up and trying to
return it. Then Swank wraps them up and then come
the laylogs. They get him down and close to the
one there say forward progress down at around the two.
Ben Swank the first one there and then a pile
of dogs came into hell ah Lee that is awesome.
(01:48:29):
Then has to play in really good special teams and
now he stays in there on defense here late in
this third quarter, one on one remaining.
Speaker 5 (01:48:37):
Hey, listen to this their kickoff returns, they say the thirteen,
the one, the fifteen, the five, and the seventeen and
the eight. Unbelievable. That's where they've started.
Speaker 2 (01:48:54):
I tell you what d Rock is in the house.
He has got a custom jersey and he was showed
me this earlier this week. And I know the folks
watching on the NFHS network can't see d Rock, but boy,
he is sporting a nice clean opal like a custom
d Rock jersey, looking good and one of the biggest
Bulldog Fanci'll fine quarterback sneak dog. Are the Panthers just
(01:49:15):
trying to get some breathing room here and they get
a yard up to the three yard line as we're
now under fifty four seconds remaining here in this third quarter,
Dogs leading fifty to nothing, and it will be a
second and nine coming up here for the Panthers from
(01:49:36):
their own four yard line. Smith Station will get a
little breather next week out of the area taking on
Stan Hope Elmore at home before they head to JAG.
A couple of winnable games coming up here for the Panthers.
Here's a toss play in the end zone to the tailbag.
Now we'll cut it up. It's got the first down.
(01:49:57):
It's another good run.
Speaker 5 (01:49:58):
That was good.
Speaker 7 (01:49:59):
They've blocked. They flocking us out there.
Speaker 5 (01:50:01):
On the edge.
Speaker 2 (01:50:01):
Jalen Huff a somomole running back. Coach, He's going to
be a tough one. Yep, that's a first down. And
now we got extra curricular flag thrown after the play.
Speaker 5 (01:50:15):
Coach Board's not going to like this. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:50:18):
A couple of them got over there close to the
Smith station sideline and some jarring back and forth, and
coach More brings them in here as we've got a
time out on the field. Twenty seven to fourteen score
updates Central Leading Enterprise, and we'll take a quick time out.
(01:50:40):
You're listening to bulldog football here on the kicker well
in sportsman line conduct penalty going against Smith's station and
that goes back them up a half the distance to
the gold penalty.
Speaker 5 (01:50:56):
I imagine that probably came from the bench over there,
from frustration, you know, from that banks.
Speaker 7 (01:51:03):
Some stay out for some, you know, some of the player.
Speaker 3 (01:51:05):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:51:06):
We when you when you're down fifty to nothing, it's it's, uh,
you know, well that's tough, and I mean it's kind
of like hitting your golf ball.
Speaker 7 (01:51:14):
Yeah, about one hundred times.
Speaker 5 (01:51:16):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:51:17):
Well, that's the end of the third quarter. Fifty nothing
our score, and we'll head to the fourth quarter here
Bulldog Stadium. We'll be back with your final quarter. Been
a good one so far over the Bulldogs they lead
it fifty to nothing, over Smith's station and back after
this time out here on the Kicker fourth quarter lights
(01:51:38):
show here Bulldogs Stadium rolling a little swag surfing action
going on. Max Still no coach McCracken, swag surfing you.
Speaker 8 (01:51:45):
I was looking up there, Van, I thought you had
in this time.
Speaker 2 (01:51:47):
I was gonna just shake his chair of him to go,
and I'm gonna get him at some point, by.
Speaker 9 (01:51:51):
The way, Yes, Uh, d Rock looking mighty fine tonight
in the bleachers.
Speaker 2 (01:51:56):
Yeah, maybe the camera crook. He didn't get d Rock
before it's all said, And because boy he worked, he
worked hard on that custom jersey. I don't know where
he went though, but maybe Brad's crew can find him
all right. Panthers as we start the fourth quarter, have
a first and tent after that in sportsmanline conduct penalty
from their on eight yard line is where they'll start here.
(01:52:19):
Cohen Thomas under center gets the stamp, they'll throw out
of the flats and it's incomplete. Trying to get it
to his running back Jalen Huff, but throw it too
far in front and it's incomplete. Second down in ten,
and we got a running clock here the fourth quarter,
so the clock will continue to run after that. Incomplete
pass eleven thirty eight and rolling here fifty nothing against
(01:52:40):
Smiths Station trails, Opalaika. It has been all bulldogs tonight.
I know there was a big class reunion outside the stadium.
Believe it was a class of two thousand and four
out there. I saw that you probably know some of
those crew coaching Kraken stop On said hot to well.
They said they were disappointed you didn't come by. So
(01:53:04):
Sega down in ten quarterback drops back. This one is complete,
but a nice tackle over on the far side may
have gotten a little face mask there. Braden Howard defensive
back on the tackle, and I think they're going to
get him with a face mask. He got there, but
just got too much of the face mask, and that's
going to be a might be a fifteen yard or
we'll see. Eleven oh three o clock is stopped at
(01:53:30):
the moment while we figure out the penalty here as
a personal foul against Opalaika on that tackle there, So
this will.
Speaker 5 (01:53:42):
Righton Howard's number twenty three. You had to come off
the field. He looks like he hurd his arm.
Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
So this will give spth station enough for the first down.
Moves it up to the twenty eight yard line. Ten
fifty five clock, start back rolling. Check him with Mac
(01:54:13):
here in just a minute, Mac, I tell you, Officer
ber Dett looks like he's working hard down here on
the field. He's got about ten kids around him. Yep,
I see you. There's a spin around by the quarterback.
Wanted to hand it off, and the quarterback keeps it
and gets back to the original line of scrimmage. Mac,
you got you got Officer ber Debt.
Speaker 5 (01:54:34):
Yeah, he's don Hey.
Speaker 8 (01:54:35):
Look, Kyle's got a big business now.
Speaker 7 (01:54:37):
He's got about four or five under him.
Speaker 8 (01:54:40):
You gotta get the balls out there. So he does
not appreciate you talking about it.
Speaker 2 (01:54:44):
He is the ball boy coach, right he is he yes,
he is.
Speaker 9 (01:54:48):
In charge, and he's got about five under him that
he's got a lot of responsibility with Kyle.
Speaker 5 (01:54:54):
He does.
Speaker 2 (01:54:56):
Seck it down in nine here for the Panthers from
the twenty eight yard line. A quick inside hand off
again to Huck. He tries to bounce it inside here,
broke a few tackles, gets the sidelines and he's out
of mounds at the forty eight yard line, and that
will be enough for a first down. A good looking
run there, twenty yard pickup there by the Panthers, nine
(01:55:18):
thirty six left in the game, fifty to nothing. Okalaiko's
with the lead bye of the game of this half,
excuse me, nine twenty left now, as the clock continues
to run. Panthers getting close to midfield from their own
(01:55:38):
forty eight yard line, moving from right to left. Here,
quarterback drops back overshot and his tail back out of
the backfield. Jalen Huff just threw it over his head
and one's incomplete.
Speaker 5 (01:55:51):
One of four throwing in this half. They on a
half six yards of passing offense.
Speaker 2 (01:55:58):
Eight fifty five continues to run here in the fourth
quarter of mind are coming up after the game. Tonight's
stay tune. It's the Encore Rehabilitation High School Scoreboard show.
Jerry Bavarro, Eddie Owen running down all the area scores
some big games tonight. We'll try to get some updates
to I know a Lease Scott was in a battle.
They went to Randolph County tonight, Central Hosting Enterprise and
(01:56:22):
Carver down South taking on Dothan eight twenty nine. Clock
continues to run. Thomas faked it inside, tosses it back
out to Huff and Huff stood up by Leland Bell
at the forty six yard line close to six yards
though on the pickup, and I'll set up a third
(01:56:43):
and four as a game, clock down to eight oh
five and continuing to run.
Speaker 5 (01:56:51):
This is gonna be two down territory right here. Try
to get this.
Speaker 2 (01:56:56):
First down seven fifty six. And here in the fourth quarter,
Jordan Stenson, one of the defensive ends along with Brandon Dinson.
The other defensive end, Amir Johnson, one of the defensive
(01:57:23):
tackles there also on the line here on this third
and two, they'll toss it trying to go outside. Nice
jobs stood up there by. I think that's that was
Lake Drick Burks, Yeah, Lakedrick, Yeah, no gain on the
play as Lakedrick Burkes had a nice stop there, and
it's fourth down and three.
Speaker 5 (01:57:43):
Brian Moore said that that young man has really come
a long way. He's a junior six foot two ten.
Speaker 2 (01:57:51):
Yeah, I just picked up a yard. You give me
fourth and three and the offense will stay out here
for the Panthers. Six point fifty seven on a running
clock here in the fourth quarter, Dogs leading it fifty
to nothing.
Speaker 5 (01:58:04):
They're gonna run that triple option.
Speaker 2 (01:58:06):
Oh yeah, you know what's coming. You just got to
stop at Thomas, quick inside handoff to the full back
and they'll get the first down down to the forty
one four yard pickup on the quick inside handoff. It's
what the group did on the JV back earlier this
week on Monday, coach, and what I heard it was
basically just two and three yards at a time, three
(01:58:28):
and four here, and they just kind of marched it
down the field right now. Panthers just wanting to run
this clock out and head back up to eighty six
thirteen clock continuing to run here in the fourth Thomas
(01:58:48):
under center, and we'll toss it out here. To Huff
Huff trying to find some running room and then swink
on a nice stop over here at the forty yard line. Again,
great job tracking down Huff for no gain on the
play under five point fifty to go here in the
ball game and the clock are running. Well, we got
(01:59:12):
a moment. Let's paul ten seconds for station identification.
Speaker 11 (01:59:15):
W KKR Auburn Opelika is League County's best country ninety
seven point seven kicker FM and iHeart Country station.
Speaker 2 (01:59:25):
Under five thirty to go, Quarterback Thomas checks the sidelines
trying to change his play. Up five point fifteen and
clock continuing to run. Thomas fanks the toss quick inside
(01:59:45):
give here to Huff and he's down close to the
thirty five that'll mark him down at thirty six five
yard pickup there for the running back. Jordan stints it
on the stop for the Bulldogs. Auburn defeats jag forty
(02:00:05):
seven nothing, Randolph County leading Lease got thirty eight twenty.
Speaker 5 (02:00:09):
One after Lee Scott's first lost.
Speaker 2 (02:00:13):
Yeah, Carver leading doth in thirty five twenty one. How
about that yeah play action and wanting to throw picked
off here in near side intercepted by the Bulldogs that
was picked off here on the near side of the.
Speaker 7 (02:00:28):
Field, number forty nine.
Speaker 2 (02:00:31):
Who is that forty nine?
Speaker 5 (02:00:32):
Got it?
Speaker 2 (02:00:37):
Forty nine? Guy, No, we don't have forty nine.
Speaker 7 (02:00:41):
No, we don't have a forty nine.
Speaker 2 (02:00:43):
The first time the Bulldogs had worn the black jerseys
and after that, Mac, I will have to find out
who was Yeah, find out who number forty nine was.
Speaker 5 (02:00:51):
Mac, we'll do.
Speaker 7 (02:00:53):
Let's call his name out, all right?
Speaker 2 (02:00:56):
With four minutes. Oh, they say it was incomplete.
Speaker 7 (02:00:57):
It was incomplete.
Speaker 2 (02:00:59):
Huh, all right, so it's fourth down broken up though
on that near side. Well, if I had to find
out at lasa who broke that pass up fourth down
and five coming up here? Four of the Panthers at
the thirty six But a little like an interception, quarterback
drives back, hint and knocked him out. Ball comes free.
What a hint by Brandon Dinson. Brandon Dinson got the
(02:01:23):
quarterback from behind. The boy he is slow to get up,
Brandon Dinson. He never saw him coming, Holy cow boy,
that was talk about your blind side. Coach, Yes, sir,
he never saw him coming. And Cochin Thomas is slow
to come off the field there and hope he's Okay.
Speaker 7 (02:01:41):
Now Brandon's a senior. He won't ever forget that.
Speaker 5 (02:01:44):
No, he won't. He will talk to his children and
grandchildren about that play right there. Wow, that's a great lick, Brandon.
Speaker 2 (02:01:54):
Dogs take over after the fourth down, turnover on downs
and Opelikah has it at the forty seven yard line.
Here's a hand off to Jalen Nelson. A flag down.
This flag was before the play. It looked like, yeah
(02:02:14):
it was. They didn't have a delay of the game,
did they? I don't know. That was three flags. It
may have been a delay a game that was a delay,
a game against the defense. And Opelika declines it. How
do you have that's good for a first down? It
was a ten yard run by Jalen Nelson and that's
a Lambert transfer and storage first down.
Speaker 5 (02:02:36):
After the game explained to me at the lay of
the game on the defense.
Speaker 2 (02:02:40):
They must have did something to slow the base of
the game down from the forty three. It was a
good run by Tristan Glaze, a softbore running back. So
teen clock. Continuing to run second down and eight for
(02:03:04):
the Bulldogs. They lead it fifty to nothing, trying to
run the remainder of this clock off quarterback is Fuller Young.
We need to mention as well, who was in the ballgame.
Young gives it to the tailback Nelson and he is
wrapped up in the backfield.
Speaker 5 (02:03:24):
We didn't down block somebody on that play. The tackle
and the centers both blocked back and to tight end,
and we didn't block anybody.
Speaker 2 (02:03:33):
That was no resee actually third down twelve here, Fuller Young,
(02:03:53):
we'll hand the ball. Here's Glaze trying to find some
running room right side, and Glaze is going to be
tackled hard out of Aunds near midfield. Tristan Lay, sophomore
running back one O six left and Bulldogs will keep
the offense out here. Imagine just trying to run one
more play and run the remainder of this one off
(02:04:15):
here fifty to nothing, our score under a minute to
go here, and it'll be a fourth and long coming
up here for Opalaika. And I think could run one
more play here, twenty two to twenty one on the
play clock, thirty seven seconds left on the game clock. Here,
(02:04:39):
Young fakes the handoff inside. Young wants to run with it,
and he will. He'll turn it up field. Actually, this
is Ashton Smoke who comes in running a quarterback position.
Speaker 5 (02:04:51):
That's gonna be it.
Speaker 2 (02:04:52):
Yeah, Smoke going to be stopped down at the forty
three yard line, and that should be the last play.
That's a turnover on downs, and I think that will
do it.
Speaker 7 (02:05:07):
They stopped the clock on out of bounds.
Speaker 2 (02:05:09):
I guess they stopped it for some reason. I think
when they set this football though, they'll let the final
twenty two seconds wind off here and that should be it.
I guess the Panthers will have to come out and
actually run one play technicality. I guess, yep, bag, did
(02:05:33):
you find out who that defender was? Trayvon heard all right,
Trayvon heard all right? Well, he was forty two on
our roster there, so there we go. Good play there,
Trayvon heard there on the near interception on the sideline.
One final snap here for the Panthers, and it'll be
a quarterback keeper straight up the middle. Good run here
(02:05:55):
by the quarterback. Oh he got the sidelines and a
touchdown saving tackle there by the Bulldogs. That was Hayden
Lipscomb who made that stop. Clock will start back running
down to five, down to four, and I don't think
Smith's station will get another playoff here that will do it.
(02:06:15):
Final score here from Bulldog Stadium. Dominating performance by the
Bulldogs over Smith Station, fifty to nothing in the final.
And we're back with the postgame show coming up on
the way next. You're listening to Bulldog football here on
the Kicker. Welcome back here on a postgame show. It
(02:06:38):
is presented to you by Jeff Coach Trent funeral hallme
of final tonight. Hope a like a winner over Smith's
Station here, fifty to nothing. So coach, that's one hundred
and two points by the offense here in the last
two games.
Speaker 7 (02:06:50):
Pretty good work here. I was thinking about that. I
thought we were.
Speaker 5 (02:06:54):
I'm gonna tell you something. It's almost like you can
tell that the confidence brewing in this football team. Offensively,
Kobe is getting a lot better. He's relaxing, he's throwing
the ball a little bit better, offensive line, better running game,
no turnovers, just playing good, smart running the football, throwing
(02:07:20):
the football.
Speaker 2 (02:07:21):
We threw for.
Speaker 5 (02:07:23):
Ran for two hundred and sixty seven yards in the
first half and threw for over one hundred yards and
threw about eight passes, eight or nine passes. Man, and
I I just it's just getting better. And better offensively
and then defensively. Heck, those two big linebackers Ores and
(02:07:44):
our front and Lightfoot didn't even play tonight, and so
it'll be it'll be good to get him back. But
I know Brian wanted to make sure we got everybody helping. Hey,
this big, big game next week, Pike Road is good
at home. We're gonna have to go down there and
(02:08:05):
really be ready to play. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:08:07):
Excellent coach too, and Granger Shook, he does a good
job over there. And this is a team that last
year went deep in the playoffs. They want to state
championship within the past to what was just a few
years back. Yeah, they were in the championship game and
I want to state championship.
Speaker 7 (02:08:22):
They they got the boy that went to Auburn.
Speaker 2 (02:08:24):
Yeah, you know, playing Farm Well, they've had a lot
of great players, including Quinn Shawn Judkins who iss at
Ohio State. And they've had some talent. They'll have some.
They'll have some guys for sure. Score up date, late
fourth quarter, Central's gonna get the win over Enterprise tonight
thirty four to twenty one. The score there Carver leading
does in last check thirty five twenty one, Lynette over
(02:08:44):
Lafayette thirty one nothing, glen Wood knocking off Buli. Our
last check forty one thirty one, Randolph County leading least
got thirty eight twenty one. Is that final now and
we got Auburn the winner over jag forty of a nothing,
boar Guard leading Elmore County twenty four thirteen. A Valley
knocks off Marbory tonight twenty eight to seven. Here final
(02:09:07):
score again Opealaika knocking off Smith's Station tonight fifty to nothing,
Dogs improving their record to four and one, but they
do improve to two and one in region play. Step
out of the region next week of the road game
against Pike Road coming up, and we'll continue with our
post game show presented to by Jeff coach Trent Funeral Home,
with more on the way, including a postgame visit with
(02:09:27):
coach Brian Moore still to come. All here on ninety
seven point seven kicker fel back here at Bulldogs Stadium
where again our final score tonight fifty to nothing, dominating
win for Opal Like over Smith's Station and we're pleased
to having the booth with us now Coach Brian Moore coach.
(02:09:49):
First off the past two weeks, you have scored one
hundred and two points your opponents have scored six. That's
pretty good.
Speaker 4 (02:09:56):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, I'm proud of our kids, of
the effort. You know, I thought we played a lot
better tonight than we did a week ago. You know,
a week ago had those lulls that weren't great, and
tonight I thought we were really sharp outside of really
a kick that was not supposed to be an on
side that was supposed to be a squill when you're
(02:10:17):
at thirty six and out that it's not a good
look to kick the ball like that, but we're supposed
to squip it down. We're working the end of the game.
The positive behind it was then we got a red
zone opportunity with Kobe. I think we're at like the
plus seventeen, and we threw a ball we shitting have thrown.
We had two options on the play and so we
got to clean that up. But we haven't had that
scenario yet and we practiced it a lot. But as
(02:10:38):
far as endgame, I thought that was really good. But
pleased with our kids last two weeks. But you know, truthfully,
the real season starts now. So it was it was
great to get those a lot of kids in the
game again. Over the last two weeks, our kids have
played a lot of football between JV and varsity, so
it's been good to see a lot of guys run
out there, and you know, I think we got better.
Speaker 3 (02:11:00):
You know.
Speaker 4 (02:11:00):
Part of the reason I'm so horses. Practice has been
pretty tough and we've gotten after it. So excited to
see how our kids responded tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:11:08):
I know the second team group was excited to get
back out there and kind of get a little redemption
because they kind of got pushed around a little bit
in the JV game on Monday by the first team
from Smith Station.
Speaker 4 (02:11:16):
Yeah, and and I thought we were much better. You know,
they had the one drive and then we got a
huge sack from Brandon Denson, who was a captain tonight.
Great to see Brandon. He Brandon is a senior. He's
been a back up, but he is played a little
in the rotation. But great sacked there and a lot
of kids played. Man, that's what's so huge about tonight.
And you're right, we were much better than we're Monday.
Speaker 2 (02:11:38):
I want to say one thing, there's a kid flying
around out here all the time, making plays one of
your younger guys on defense, Ben Swank, and on special teams.
He was a captain tonight as well. Yep, and boy,
he's been playing good.
Speaker 4 (02:11:48):
Yeah, I think then you know, has earned a right
to play more. He's on all four special teams units.
He's the only kid on our team that plays on
all four, which is I mean that's a real uh
you know, accomplishment you know for him and a compliment
to him because you know, again we want to keep
guys on two, but Ben's been so good he's on
all four. Another kid I wanted to mention was Xavier
(02:12:10):
Thomas twenty six. He's making a lot of tackles on kickoff.
He and Ben are the backside two that are running
down and kind of keeping the ball bottled up in
the third. You know, we gave up a big return early,
which was the biggest return of the year so far.
They took it back to their boundary and we didn't
do a very good job of containing it. So we
clean that up and you know it kind of moved
(02:12:31):
the kick around, moved Ty Hudson around as far as
where he's fitting over there. So really pleased with really
every face where he's basically continues to be really sharp
in the way that he's kicking the ball, and we
were able to run some swinging gay stuff went for
two twice. We want to continue to work some of
that stuff because you could put people behind in the
points game. So I thought that was really good. Brod
(02:12:52):
he executed one, and then we had the biggest thing
tonight was we had a lot of different guys score
solely Clayton got in the end zone.
Speaker 5 (02:12:58):
C J.
Speaker 4 (02:12:59):
Penk got in the end zone on Jordan Waits. I mean,
a lot of kids scored. Calvin had an incredible run down.
Our sideline continues to do it. So I was really
pleased with our touches, and we threw the ball deep
some tonight. We took some shots and had some drop
back on early downs, which I think created some better
balance for us. We did have to scramble a couple
of times, but really pleased that. And then you know,
(02:13:20):
we had a couple of penalties, but I was really
pleased with our kids after the whistle penalties. You know,
they had to they had at least one unsportsmanlike and
a personal foul, and I was proud of our kids
for not not answering that and doing, you know, retaliating.
I was really proud of us in that phase as well.
Speaker 2 (02:13:34):
A couple of times, Coach, your defense got in situations
where it was third and short, third and one and
the defensive line made a huge play time after time.
I know Amari had a couple of those, and just
to put them in a third and eight or a
fourth and eight and really put them behind the gate ball.
Speaker 4 (02:13:51):
I told the kids, I said, if you don't squeeze
on verer midline, I'm gonna take you out. And the
very first one, Amari ran up the field and we
took them out immediately after that. He was unbelievable. I
mean counter the backside of County. They pulled the garden
tackle away from him, he chased it down, had tackle
for loss. I mean, just did an incredible that's that's
that's why I told him my challenge if I caught
(02:14:12):
him in my office and I said, man, it's time
for you to start playing like an SEC guy, because
that's what you are. And he did tonight. I was
really pleased with him. The leak had a couple of
big plays. Baby TJ continues to play really well. Ninety
Braden Stintson showed up tonight. It was good to see
Josh Davis got his first start. Lightfoot's been a little sick,
so Josh got his first start. And really proud of
(02:14:32):
Josh so and Cayden Harris continues to play well. Tyler
More will be back. It was I tell you, man,
it's been pretty hard to hold Tyler these last two
weeks for me because he's such a leader and he
wants to play so badly. But I said, we said,
this was our plan. We go in and getting through
the Auburn game and you're out for two weeks. You're
gonna practice, but not play with that knee. And he's
super healthy, and we stuck to the plan and got
(02:14:54):
through it. So great reps for la Kedrick Bert's and
Caden Harris as well.
Speaker 2 (02:14:57):
Brandon Dinson. I don't think he'll ever forget that there
towards the end of the game.
Speaker 4 (02:15:01):
They cut him loose on the backside. I've had that
happen before at quarterback. That's a bad feeling when they
hit you right in the middle of the back.
Speaker 2 (02:15:07):
But great job they didn't do it this week. When
your scouting quarterback.
Speaker 4 (02:15:10):
It's gonna happen when coach m kracken was the head
coach and I was playing scout team for him. I
got hit a few times by Josh Rowe and I
told him stop hitting me, as we're done with this.
But yeah, I mean it was a lot of fun
to see our kids play. And again I thought this
was by far the best we played on the year.
So I'm really proud of how we played, how we
dominated every face and down a couple of drives that
(02:15:31):
I didn't love defensively where they cross midfield, but again,
our kids rose the casion van and as you said,
you know those third and shorts, you know, we turned
into fourth and eight, you know, and really pleased with that.
Speaker 2 (02:15:42):
All right up like a winter tonight, fifty to nothing
over Smith's station. Coach.
Speaker 5 (02:15:45):
Yeah, I wanted to say something about your sweeps, your
down blocks, by your tackles and tight ends were incredibly good.
In your back block by your center, because when they
got outside the tackle box, it was like they gonna
run fifty or sixty yards. I mean, Hugley and Waits
(02:16:07):
and Pink are they all just I mean, those those
offensive linemen and the down blocks had to be great
on those and I think that opened up a whole
bunch of stuff. And I told I told Van Riggs
at Dentson Sack, he's gonna tell his children about that
and his grandchildren now, because that boy, that boy put.
Speaker 4 (02:16:28):
A whopper on him.
Speaker 5 (02:16:30):
And those linebackers with without Tyler, you had some really
good looking linebackers in there, with some with some speed
and some size, and they did.
Speaker 7 (02:16:40):
I loved them in the room yesterday.
Speaker 5 (02:16:42):
They were absolutely outstanding and things they said and did
I was.
Speaker 4 (02:16:48):
I've been really concerned moving forward about the three seniors
that we have, you know, with Tyler aj Uh you know,
and of course ty Hudson, and now with birds and
out with Caden Harris, and with Elijah Odin fifty coming on.
He's a tenth grader, great link. He looks like LaMarcus,
that's why he's built, he's long. And I just had
(02:17:10):
been really pleased with them in their development over these
last couple of weeks, how fast they're fitting and how
physical they are. And so I think that's an area
of strength going forward now, you know, because we're constantly
thinking about the future, and Coach, You're right, that room
is getting better and it's a great group of young men.
Andrew Barnett included in that group, and Tristan Bussy and
me or Sheeley. I mean, those guys are really coming along.
(02:17:32):
So just proud of them and again proud of seeing
them play tonight in the way that they that they did.
Speaker 5 (02:17:38):
And Brian, your big plays. You had ten big plays
in the first half, a run over ten or a
pass over fifteen and that Hey, when you out do
a team ten to one on big plays, you got
a great chance to win the game.
Speaker 4 (02:17:55):
Well, I'm proud of that. Well, Coach Atkins was in
my office today and you know, you talking about that explosives.
That's not something that we normally chart, but I think
at this level of football and as good as the
people we're playing horror, you're gonna have to create those
and sometimes, you know, we're gonna have to be willing
to run a reverse right tonight, We're gonna have to
be willing to run a double pass and create those
(02:18:17):
not gimmick it, but create those within our scripting and
within our landmark plays, you know, to create those explosives.
Our three Coach, I think they can make offense easy
offense for you. And it's been pretty tough for us
in the first four. It was nice to get some
explosives tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:18:31):
Hey, coach the Brian Moore Show. Of course, don't forget it,
it's gonna be dropping Wednesday next week. Also your weekly lunching.
I don't know if you've got anybody lined up next
week yet. I got a suggestion for you, though, how
about Coach Burdette and the ball boys, because while we
were looking at them down there on the field, and boy,
he's got a job, doesn't he keeping track of all
of those kids, And I think you may have some
recruits at the fence waiting to jump in.
Speaker 4 (02:18:53):
He's got a couple mores down there. And I told him,
you can say anything you want to the move boys,
whatever you need to do to keep them running balls
out and you can grab them and shake them and
whatever you need to do. But he had to grab
me off the field once because get caught a fair
catch on a kick return and they let him bring
it out. But anyway, Kyle's done a great job. Appreciate
him on all he does. And Shane Chiles too, helping
(02:19:13):
set up the sideline. We got a ton of people
that are just you know, behind the scenes that do
a great job.
Speaker 2 (02:19:18):
All right, Thursday lunch again, that's the first Baptist Church up.
Like it next week look for the link early next week.
Go ahead an RSVP if you can, if you've never
made it to one ten dollars lunch, great preview. Coach
always brings a guest, several guests, maybe some players. I
think of bringing players for the rest of the season,
right yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:19:32):
Every week.
Speaker 7 (02:19:33):
I haven't decided which group. You know, we brought Calvin.
Speaker 4 (02:19:36):
I really like the running backs and the balance tonight,
but I may bring those linebackers. I'm wist see they've
really played well, you know with Hudson and Moore and
Kateen Harrison all then we've mentioned, but we'll see, and
we continue to look at different angles. Last week brought
the middle school coaches and coach Ferguson Montel and Billings
that did a tremendous job, and coach Howell did with
the d line. So you know, it's a great deal
(02:19:57):
and it gives our kids exposure and experience in that
type of environment. So we appreciate the Baptist Church and
coach and Pastor Myers to call him coach Myers too,
you know, for what he does and and how hospitable
they are.
Speaker 2 (02:20:09):
You got a coach Myers, so it makes sense, right
all right? Hey, JV host Central Monday, ninth grade at
Smith Station on Monday. A chance to see some of
these young guys and what they can do again next week.
Speaker 4 (02:20:19):
Yeah, we we are dedicated to play in lower level
football games. We're not gonna cancel you know, those games.
Our kids deserve to play. Uh and we get better
every week, and you know, just really we're two and
one into JV season right now. Our ninth grade I
think is one and two and lost one by one
point the other day. Uh, so you know, we and
our seventh and eighth three are just rolling right now.
(02:20:41):
Had an incredible you know game at Smith's both groups
last week. So just proud of our lower levels and
proud of our coaches and all the work they're putting in.
Speaker 2 (02:20:48):
All right, coach, appreciate it. Congratulations Next week at Pike Road,
Granger Shook, great coach, great friend I've known for years.
I know you know them as well, and you know
this will be a tough road test for this team.
I to read and a good six a team that
went deep in the playoffs last year. They've got a
lot of good wins on their only losses had a
road game and Enterprise. So they're rolling and that's gonna
(02:21:08):
be tough.
Speaker 4 (02:21:09):
It is. And they you know, they played nothing but
seven a's, you know, so far as far as out
of region, I know, Granger, it feels like I do
as far as how you push your team in non
region play, you know. And uh he's a great coach again,
a great friend. He and I are about the same
age and and he's just been an incredible He's done
an incredible job there, you know. And they've got dudes,
and uh so it'll be a challenge in a in
(02:21:30):
a friendly face. And Jonathan Chandler, you know, being their
offensive coordinator, j C does he he came in coaching
with me under coach Blackman and h he's a great
football coaching. So we'll we'll have a work cut out
for us. And I told the kids frankly, like I
said earlier, the real season begins now. Our back five
is this tough or tougher than anybody in the state
of Alabama. And we're gonna have to be right every
(02:21:51):
week to.
Speaker 5 (02:21:51):
Have a chance to win.
Speaker 2 (02:21:52):
I tell you those kids that went to play at Huntington.
There's a lot of coaches from that tree. Yeah, yeah,
I mean he's done it a great job.
Speaker 4 (02:21:59):
Hired a couple of them had coordinators from Huntington. Coach
Turk is amazing and Granger's another product of that.
Speaker 2 (02:22:04):
All right, that's next week on the road, will be
on the air course with the Bulldog Tailgate Show starting
at six o'clock. Coach, congratulations on the win, appreciate the visit,
Thanks so much. That's coach Brian More. We'll take break.
We'll be right back here listening to Bulldog football here
on the Kicker, continuing on the post game show presented
(02:22:25):
to by Jeff Coach Tran Funeral Home. I'm Van Riggs
alongside coach Spence McCracken as we wind things down here
in our broadcast tonight. A fifty to nothing win for
Opelaika over the Smith Station Panthers. Dogs improved to four
and one on the season, two and one in region play,
and for the Smith Station Panthers they dropped to oh
and five and oh and three in area play. Everybody
(02:22:45):
kind of stepping out of the area next week in
the region and for Smith Station they'll take on Stan
Hope Elmore at home and for Opalaikah, we mentioned that
road trip coming up to Pike Road. Coach, you think,
if if you're just watching this team right now, you
know they've got to improve on some things. You know,
it's been really good. But if you've got to clean
one thing up that you're looking at right now, what
(02:23:06):
do you think Coach More and the guys have to
really work on here and getting into some really tough
games down the stretch.
Speaker 5 (02:23:12):
I think defensively stopping the other team's big plays. Now,
we didn't have any big plays and they had one
big play, but last week we gave up like four
big plays, and then the week we played Callaway, we
gave up I don't know, five or six. We just
(02:23:34):
got to get better defensively, Like the triple option tonight.
You know they were they kept running that triple option
into the boundary and we weren't coming up and tackling,
and they were making six and seven yards early in
the game.
Speaker 7 (02:23:49):
So we got to go, I know, he's gonna get
that straightened out.
Speaker 5 (02:23:53):
I think our kicking game has really really gotten better, man,
I mean really pleased with that, and like I told
you the offense quarterback seems a lot more relaxed, making
more plays. We just got to continue to make the
big plays and not get anybody hurt. We got to
(02:24:16):
get oft. Listen, our big right guard's got to get back.
Whitlow should be ready to go next week. I mean
he's a he's a three hundred and fifteen pound offensive lineman,
and I know we've missed him. He's been out for
two weeks. And our lineback and crew need to get
(02:24:38):
them well and ready to go. So just get all
our injuries out of the way. Yeah, yeah, and tell
you I know Brian's gonna work them hard this week.
Pike Road is a hard place to play. I've been
down there. I've seen our teams play down there, and
(02:24:58):
I just think we'll we gonna need to be ready
to play. It's gonna be a road game. Yeah, I
don't care. Percy Julian beat beat him tonight. We got
to go down there and take care of business and
keep getting better.
Speaker 2 (02:25:12):
Yeah, Percy Julian's got a rich history too. Yeah yeah,
don't even bring that up. I get fifty tono of
the final score here. Opelaikah over Smiths Stations were you go.
Speaker 7 (02:25:24):
Would you look at that bulldog? Now, that is a
good looking bulldog.
Speaker 5 (02:25:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:25:29):
Coach McCracken's looking for those that don't let that.
Speaker 7 (02:25:32):
No, No, that's a mean looking dog right there.
Speaker 5 (02:25:34):
I mean you won't want to message that dog.
Speaker 4 (02:25:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:25:37):
I got coach mccracky looking at the bulldog on the
jumbo trot. Here's what close things out. Fifty to nothing
a final score here will wrap things up. After this
final post game break. You're listening to Bulldog football here
on the kick Hey, here all the post game show
(02:25:58):
fifty to nothing Opelaika Knox off Smith's Station tonight here
inside Bulldog Stadium. Dogs away for the next couple of
weeks on the road at Pike Road next week, and
then a region or tough region matchup coming up here
against Dothan coming up on October the fourth. As we
are now at the halfway point of the season, and
it's just over the halfway point now, well, no, not quiet.
(02:26:18):
We still have five more games to go here down
the stretch, starting with Pike Road next week. Stay tuned though.
Coming up next we got the Encore Rehabilitation High School
Scoreboard Show. Jerry Bivarro and Eddie Oh and standing by
again our final score here from Bulldog Stadium fifty to nothing.
Back on the air next week from Pike Road coverage
beginning at six o'clock with a Bulldog Tailgate show right
