region play. They've made the threeand a half hour trip down south that
they see Theodore Bobcats, a teamthat got the best of the Dogs at

here in Theodore, and they areslowly coming in on the home side.
The visiting fans of course making thelong trip over the three and a half
hour trips feared to the south marchingband starting to file in this Theodore team,

like we mentioned, they pounded theDogs last season, running for close
to three hundred yards on the groundin a thirty four to twenty four win
at Bulldog Stadium. Now the Dogshere in Theodore's House, a part of
the state, the Dogs have traditionallystruggled. Oh Balaikah has only managed five
wins in thirteen tries in Molile andBaldwin County, going all the way back
to nineteen ninety last win in MobileCounty a win against Viger back in nineteen

here at home against Murphy thirty nineto seven, and overtime win at Baldwin
County twenty seven, twenty four,and then a loss last week against Spanish

and Cameron Rigby, the quarterback,goes down to the second half.
He will not play tonight, aswe were told this week. It'll be
Chris Shaan Overton who will get thestart tonight for the Theodore Bobcats he moves

Take us through the day and justkind of how you got down here.
I know, it's a big processanytime you make this long trip down here.
Yeah, when you're bringing you know, one hundred thirty plus people in
the road, it takes a lotof planning. So we left this morning
after eating breakfast, left school alittle bit after ten, and stopped in
Greenville and just walked around Legs andthen did a walk through and all of

our meetings at sarah Land High Schooltoday. Coach Kelly was gracious enough to
let us use their facility, andthen we did our pregame meal at a
restaurant here in sara Land and thenfrom there just bust down to Theodore.
So, you know, once wegot to about the four thirty time frame,
then everything's just on a normal schedule. But you know, it's just
the trip of getting down here isthe probably the biggest process. Yeah.

I don't know if this is thelongest regular season trip. I know there's
been some, but boy, youlook when you're south of Mobile, it's
been a long time since the Dogshave made a trip this far during the
regular season. Yeah, especially regularseason. Uh, you know, we've
come down here before in the playoffsand played Inmobile, but here Theodore a
little bit further south. We playedFolly one year in a in a spring

thing that they had spring jamboree.That was a long trip, but I
don't think that we've ever been,you know here Late Louis played sarah Land
and McGill a few years ago.But you're right, it's you know,
you get on past mobile and you'reabout here in Mississippi, so a long
trip. Hopefully we'll play well tonight, all right, take us there.
Last week, I know, boy, really complete game all around. I
mean, that was one of themost complete games I think we've seen the

Dogs playing quite a while. Itwas the kids played really well, uh
finally finally starting to click on alot of things, you know. Offensively,
we had four hundred and fifty nineyards of offense on forty three plays,
so that's over ten yards of play, which is pretty impressive against any
seven eight defense. And then defensive, we've been playing really well the last
few weeks and we've cleaned up alot of the things that we've talked about,

you know, giving up big playsand in our eyes, being where
they're supposed to be, especially inthe secondary. So, uh, Coach
Massey and his group. They've donea really good job the last few weeks
of you know, holding opponents tothe very few points and keeping us in
the game. And then offensively lastweek was probably one of our better games
here in a long time. Yeah, you're able to go through the air.
You had some big runs. SoCalvin Hugel was able to break a

big, long run, his longestof the season there in the second half
two. It was good to seeCalvin that. You know, we've been
talking about him, uh not bouncinghis run game. You know, when
we give him the ball, he'sbeen kind of bouncing it outside to some
guys that we don't have blocked anduh, just being more patient, and
he was on that was just acounterplay and uh, I think I don't
think anybody touched him. So goodblocking by Coach Fleming's group up front,

and then uh Calvin showed off hisspeed and on a big run. I've
heard some high praise too from CoachMass this week about Johnny Sissina and the
and the leg he's got. He'sbeen effective and was again last week.
Yeah. He had I think sevenkickoffs five or touchbacks and then the only
two that they returned h he putenough, uh you know air under the
ball that you know is a highkick, so they only returned it out

to the eighteen. So both ofthem were sixteen yard returns. So Johnny
has really been doing really well.And then you know, I think it
helps having Will Carroll kick the extrapoints and it just gives Johnny a little
rest on his leg, especially ifyou know, hopefully we're kicking off a
whole bunch, because that means we'rescoring a bunch of points. So Johnny's

region play tonight. Very good teamcame to Bulldog Stadium last year and a
boid ground attack last year was reallyimpressive from this group. Coach I know
they changed coaches coach Colleger now downat South Alabama. They bring in a

very experienced coach over two hundred winsto his name, and a Hall of
Fame coach and Steve Mask who longtimecoach at Saint Paul's, And you know
you're gonna have a well coached teamtonight and a lot of athletes on the
field. I know their quarterback isout tonight, but they've got a really
good athlete back there running the showat quarterback. Still, it'll be a
little bit different than you know,what we'd seen the previous weeks on film

on these guys, with their seniorquarterback getting hurt last week against Spanish for
it, So they'll go with asophomore tonight who looks pretty athletic. You
know, they're not changing the offense, or at least they didn't last week
in that game, which you're probablynot going to do. Anyway. We
may see a few wrinkles to nightbased on that kid's athleticism, but uh,
you know you said it, coachMy Ask. He's won a ton

of games at several different programs,won a couple of state championships at Saint
Paul's, and we played him intwenty eighteen and twenty nineteen when he was
at Saint Paul's, so they'll bewell coached, they're physical. That's one
reasons he wanted to come back downhere to get into the Theodore area that
that high school once that job cameopen last Year's get back to some kids

that fit his personality, and theycertainly do that. So we'll see a
tough, physical front tonight on bothsides of the ball, and they'll,
I'm sure try to run the ballright at us with some big guys and
probably try to limit their passing gamewith number two being a sophomore. But
you know, it should be aphysical game. And you know, but
our kids are ready key for yourdefense tonight. Just try to disrupt this

inexperienced quarterback. Yeah, it'll beto give him some looks that he,
you know, maybe hadn't seen beforeand being you know, be in his
first start and that we know ofanyway, but that and then just really
just stopping the run. You know, that's the gold every week, is
to force these guys into passing situationsand h put them into something that they
don't want to do. We alwayscall it playing left handed, So,

uh, force these guys into somethingthat they don't want to do with their
offense, and so tonight that wouldbe you know, stopping the run and
forcing them to put the ball inthere. Coach, I guess this is
the first game to this season.You play on natural surface, you don't
really see it a whole lot.You'll see it at smith Station again down
the road, I know. Butdo you try to go work on natural
surface any this week? Did youdo that or just go on the turf

and just you know practice as normal. Yeah, we stayed on the turf.
You know, the grass on ourcampus it really conducive to get in
a good practice. So we juststayed over here on the turf this week.
And you know, like you know, I think seven A every team
but Smiths has as or turf fieldnow, you know, everybody has moved

away from the natural grass. AndTheodore actually will get their turf in after
this year if their Mobile. County'sputting in a bunch of turf fields for
these schools and uh, Theodore andMary Montgomery and a couple of others that
were on the outskirts of Mobile wherethe they'll be on the next year's plan.
So be a little bit different forthese kids. But you know,
something that they've obviously played on before. If my research is correct, on

the sixth time Opelik has played herein Mobile County since nineteen ninety and coach
has not been a lot of successhere in Coastal Alabama for the Dogs.
I know that's been a message tothis team this week. Yeah, you
know, really a lot of thatI think revolves around just the long bus
trip. And you know, wheneveryou play a team that's kind of equal
to you, you know, you'vereally got to play better than you normally

would. And so we'll see howwe handle this trip. With seven eight
playoffs, you're always going to playa Mobile team at some point, so
hopefully it's it's at your place,but if not, then hopefully this will
give us an indication of how wecan we can travel in the future if
we're having to play down here againin the playoffs. Coach, good luck
