Speaker 1 (00:03):
Happy Tuesday. Everybody Amy here, and I hope you're week
is off to a great start. Welcome to the fifth
Thing of the Four Things podcast, where I go over
some emails that of sent in and answer any questions.
But we always start this episode off with a quote,
and I thought it would be fitting and appropriate to
honor Chadwick Bozeman real quick and share something that he
(00:24):
once said. Fearlessness means taking the first step, even if
you don't know where it will take you. It means
being driven by higher purpose rather than by applause. It
means knowing that you reveal your character when you stand
apart more than when you stand with the crowd. Such
a great quote, and from what I can tell from
(00:44):
what all of the famous people online the new Chadwick Bozeman,
they're just saying the greatest things about him. So he
seemed to be a pretty amazing human. And I love
that my kids had a black superhero to look up
who They loved the first Black Panther movie a lot,
and we look forward to watching Black Panther two. And
(01:05):
then also I'm adding the Jackie Robinson movie called forty
two to my list of things I want to watch
I think that was Chadwick's like breakout movie back in
two thousand thirteen. Maybe so Jackie Robinson played for the Dodgers,
and I don't know. Mary was saying that it's a
good film, but her family is also huge Daughters fans.
But I love true stories about sports figures, even though
(01:27):
I'm not a super huge sports fan. But especially since
Chadwick Boseman played Jackie Robinson, I'm even more intrigued to
check it out, especially after seeing the type of person
that he was. Like, I had no idea while he
was alive. I'm not gonna lie, but when someone passes
away and you see everybody coming out of the woodworks
talking about all of the wonderful qualities they had, You're like, oh, wow,
(01:50):
that's amazing. It's tragic that we lost him at such
a young age, only forty three years old. So Black
Panther two is on our list to watch of chad movies.
And then Jackie Robin said, well, actually movies called forty two.
If you'll have any other movie recommendations for me and
my family, we will take them. The first question that
we're going to get into today actually is really a question.
It's more of a statement email that I got, but
(02:11):
I'm not going to say her name just out of
privacy for her, but this is what she wrote me. Hey, Amy,
when you did the Outweigh series, it dawned on me
that I probably struggle with an eating disorder and that
I need to actually deal with the shame that comes
with that. But then I also realized that I actually
feel like I don't want to lose my eating disorder
because I'm terrified to be fat. If there has been
(02:32):
one thing that I could control, it's my weight, and
I feel that if I were to lose that, then
I don't know who I am anymore. So I feel
a huge sense of shame because I want that you
are an encouragement that maybe one day I can get
to where you are. Please don't stop, because I'm not
there yet, but maybe because of your strength, I will.
I have a four year old daughter and I would
(02:53):
give anything to spare her these feelings. Thanks for all
that you do. Okay, the first thing I want to
say is there is no shame. I know that you
feel like their shame, but I don't want you to
have the shame. And trust me, I know I've had
the shame too. But why Lisa and I wanted to
do the outwaigsh Seery series, Excuse me, It's because we
wanted to break the stigma surrounding disordered eating and the
(03:14):
gray area of eating disorders. And you know, I think also,
it really just starts with dismantling our beliefs about health
and beauty and what beauty is. It is so ingrained
in us that fat is bad and that we shouldn't
have any of it on us, or that you are
not worthy if you weigh this amount, and that is
(03:35):
just not true. So if we don't start with unlearning
some stuff, then it's an uphill battle for sure. So
definitely sending you and anyone else feeling this way a
lot of love and encouragement because it's not easy. But
I can tell you firsthand that a life without and
needing disorder has so much more to offer than a
number on a scale or the size of your genes.
(03:58):
It really is not an enjoyable way to live. And
I lived that way for so long, and I don't
think I realized how miserable I was until well the
days that I was really in the throes of it.
That's when I was like this is awful. I I
just remember saying things to myself. I would look in
the mirror and just be like, what is my life?
What am I doing to myself? I hate my life.
I can't believe I'm doing this. And then I would
(04:18):
have better days where I wouldn't feel so drastic. But
now that I'm on the other side of it and
I don't have that roller coaster of emotions with it,
I can tell you it is just so worth putting
in the work. And I have to remind myself a
lot as I'm still in recovery that this is the
better way to live, Like I try to recognize the
(04:39):
positives and the joys and the ease, Like everything is
just so much easier when I go out to eat
or I'm looking at a menu, I'm deciding what to eat.
I'm not calculating and breaking down and thinking or punishing
myself with workouts, like uh, really, you can just take
a deep breath. I'm thankful for people like Lisa at
the Well Necessities on Instagram. You should follow her, and
(05:00):
then Jennifer Rawlin who's Jennifer Underscore Rawlin on Instagram. Both
great follows. They really help me stay in courage, and
I think they could do the same for you. Jennifer
is constantly posting the joys of her life without her
eating disorder, things she missed out on, and I can
understand not wanting to gain the weight and that fear
is real. But again, if we dismantle our beliefs about
(05:23):
health and beauty, we can get there. And you are
not alone. Please continue to explore the idea of letting
it go, because you are worth it. Holding onto that
eating disorder will steal your happiness. Next email and question
is from Emily. Hey, Amy, I love listening to the
Bobby Bones Show and your podcast. I love when you
guys recommend your favorite shows, podcasts, books, etcetera. Do you
(05:46):
mind sharing the CBD products that you've been giving your
dog ka? I have a three year old chocolate lab
mix who has some separation anxiety and gets wound up
easily hoping to find a good brand that works well.
Speaking of separation anxiety, my dog has it too, and
she's lit really sitting at my feet while I record
this because she could not leave my side. But the
CBD brand of products that we love is pet Relief
(06:07):
and on Instagram they're at pet Relief. But the leaf
part in Relief is spelt like a plant leaf l
E A F, So hopefully see that makes sense because
pet Relief himp get it, we use the seventeen hundred whatever.
I don't know if it's milligrams or something or another
himp oil. That's the CBD like drops that we put
(06:28):
in her mouth. But then I like to also order
the little pizza snack treat Thankies. I feed her about
three of those sometimes when she's starting to get a
little anxious or hyper or crazy, and it really just
helps chill her out and calm her down. Emily asked
one last question at the end of her email, also,
will you guys be selling the four Things Christmas customized
pullovers this year? Only a hundred and twenty six days away,
(06:51):
but who's counting? Uh? Yeah, Emily, we're pretty pumped for
Christmas two. I mean, the way it is Christmas and
Hallmark movies and all the fun Christmas Eve things could
not get here fast enough. And to answer your question, yes,
we will be selling customized four Things Christmas pullovers, which,
if y'all are not following, shop a spaw on Instagram.
That's where you can follow along to make sure you
(07:11):
don't miss out on anything that we release. Four Things.
This is the four Things podcast. Y'all are the four
Things community. It's only appropriate you'll should have some four
Things stuff and all of our four Things line and
anything is. Squaw is going to be supporting at My
Life Speaks for the next few months, which they're doing
amazing work in Haiti for kids that have special needs
(07:33):
and keeping families together and building foster homes. They're really awesome.
Another good follow on Instagram is they are at My
Life Speaks and at Shop Squaw is the instagram that
I run to promote all of the Spaw and four
Things products. Next question is from Real the Hey Amy,
(08:00):
I'm a longtime listener of the Bobby Bones Show and
I've listened to every episode of the Four Things podcast. Wow.
That's amazing, Ruthie. Thank you because of your show. I
also listened to the Velvet's Edge podcast. Kelly's guest last
week was Carrie Claudell and they discussed the Zoo skincare line.
They mentioned that you use their products as well. Which
products do you use and how do you use it
in conjunction with your led face mask? Thank you for
(08:23):
being open and honest. Look forward to your show every week. Well,
thanks Ruthie. Yes, I'm a fan of Zoe, which, if
y'all are curious, Carrie Claudell, who was on Kelly's Felvit
Such podcast, is at the Nashville Beauty Girl, which that's
her name, Carrie, but that's her Instagram handle, and I
talked about her a lot, but I just say at
the Nashville Beauty Girl. And she works between Nashville and Tampa,
(08:44):
so she flies back and forth, has clients in both places.
And when she's in Nashville, she is at Dr Hatief's
office which is on Highway one hundred and it's really
easy to swing in there and pick up product if
you want to, or you can even mess said sure
on Instagram at the Nashville Beauty Girl and she can
mail you some stuff. But if you're in Tampa, you
could also go see her there. But really the best
(09:06):
way to reach out to her is two D m
her on Instagram if you've got questions. But the products
that she put me on again are for my skin.
So I'm going to run through the list, but it
may not be what's best for you, but These things
are fairly simple, so pretty full proof. They probably could
work for your skin. But again, Carrie and I to
play around with a few different brands and products. The
first stuff she put me on for the first few
(09:27):
months that I knew her did not work for my
face at all whatsoever. But I've been very happy with
the Zoe products for sure. I do the Zoe Gentle
cleanser every morning and night for all skin types. Then
I follow that with complexion renewal pads. Then I throw
on some daily power defense. Then after that, because I'm
forty years old, you younger people may not need this,
(09:48):
but I put the firming serum over that, and if
it's daytime, I then add on top of that my
Revision skincare in Telshade because that has SPF like I
don't know, forty five or something in it, and it's tinted,
so that is my makeup. On top of that, I
just put powder blush good to go walk out the door.
If it's nighttime, I do all that stuff again, but
I do not put on the intel a shade. And
(10:09):
after the firming serum, I add something called growth Factor
by Zoe. That's my products. Wham bam, Thank you, ma'am.
That's what I do consistently. There's some other things that
I own that are worth investing in that I use
every now and then to help peel away and flake
away my skin. But I've always been hesitant to share
exactly what I use because Zoe is a pricier brand.
(10:30):
But for me, I'm at a place in my life
there was a time where I could not afford this
at all. Right now I happen to be in a
place where I can, and I like investing in something
that's really working for my skin because I can do
this at home and maybe not have to invest in
certain treatments. So again, this may not be for everybody,
but since Ruthie asked, I thought, okay, I'll just give
a rundown um. But it's not lost on me that
(10:53):
this is a more expensive brand. Carrie does give some alternatives.
Maybe you want to invest in the complexion pads and
the Daily Power Defense for some good cleaning after you
wash your face with whatever drug store face wash you
want to. I love Saravey foaming wash. It's fourteen dollars
from Target or Walgreens. You could get that and then
(11:15):
do some complexion, renewal pads, and daily Power Defense on top.
Daily power Defense, they say, is like the good stuff.
It's got all the things in there that your skin
really needs. So maybe you start there, but if not,
don't ever feel pressured to do any of this. And
then as for the LED face mask, I have one
that I got on Amazon. My Amazon favorites pages radio
amy dot com. You can click on that and you
(11:36):
can find under health and beauty or something my face
mask that I use. And I do that a couple
of nights a week. And I do it before I
put on all my products. So I'll wash my face
and then I'll go maybe lay in bed for fifteen
twenty minutes with it on, and then I'll go put
the rest of my products on my face. So, Ruthie,
that is how I use it in conjunction with my
(11:57):
LED face mask. And quickly, I don't know if after
Hot Tief's office has an instagram, but I'll just go
ahead and say how you spell his name in case
you're wanting to order stuff from there, It's h A
T E. F. Doctor Hatif. And then again her instagram
is at the Nashville Beauty Girl. Okay, next question is
from Kristen. Hey, Amy, I've heard you talking about doing
(12:19):
a Bible study a few weeks ago on the Bobby
Bones Show. Do you have a favorite devotional or study guide.
My sister and mom and I were just talking about
starting a mini Bible study. I'd appreciate your recommendations, which, Kristen,
that's exactly what me and a couple of girlfriends are doing,
like a little mini Bible study. We ordered a studied
called It Is Well and it's a three week study
on anxiety, so it's supposed to help out with that
(12:43):
and we're just going through it on our own, and
then every other week we're meeting about it. So it's
a three week study, but it'll probably take us about
six weeks to get through it. And I'm very excited.
So look it up. It's called It Is Well. And
then this kind of little bonus email question I'm throwing in.
Normally I just do four, but this note came in
(13:04):
from Crystal asking a really random question about the sweater
that I'm wearing my podcast picture that's kind of white
and cream colored with the stripes on the cuffs and
the neckline like a rainbow stripes. She wanted to know
where that was and Crystal I got a few years
ago from Made Well, which I love. Made Well Jeans
my favorite place, and then occasionally I find super cute
(13:25):
tops and sweaters that I love from there, and that
is one of my faves for sure. I looked it
up and they do not sell it anymore, but I
found a couple of different versions of it on Poshmark.
So and really what I typed in was made Well
cream sweater with rainbow neckline and sleeves like on the wrist,
and it popped up on Poshmark, So you might be
(13:48):
able to find it there if they have in your size,
which I personally haven't used Poshmark, but I have a
couple of friends that have, and they found some really
cool things for a really great price. So check that out.
It's something that you really really want. If not, maybe
if you google that you can find other stores that
have something kind of similar. Okay, well, that is today's
(14:09):
fifth Thing. I hope that you'll have a great week
and I will be back Thursday with all new episode
with four things. And keep sending me emails. I love
hearing from y'all, and check out the fifth thing next Tuesday.
You never know when your email might pop up, or
it may pop up in a Four Things episode Four
Things with Amy Brown at gmail dot com. All right,
(14:31):
talk to fight,
