It was the first time in twenty years that 23 women stepped out onto the rugby field to train for the new season.

The team ranged from new players that have never touched the ball to others returning to the sport again. The team will be for anyone and everyone.

There is still time to join, simply pop down to their training evening on Tuesdays from 7pm and have a go.

Home-Start Butser support 263 families with a staff equivalent to 4 full timers and 80 volunteers. 

They are asking people with parenting experience to volunteer 3 hours a week to help struggling  families with children under five.

Training is provided. The next course starts in Petersfield on Thursday 25 September, 9:30am to 2:30pm, over five weeks.

Now every year up in Liss Forest, the Liss Forest Residents' association organise a Fun Day. It's an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy the sun, with local businesses and charities running events for all the family to enjoy. Local sewing group Liss in Stitches was at the Physic Gardens a few weeks ago with an exhibition which showed a range of textile and thread based arts and crafts.

Based at the Liss Triangle Centre, they meet once a month either to hear a speaker, or to learn new sewing techniques.

It helps with mental wellbeing and is a great opportunity to switch off from the outside world.

All the hard work paid off for the students that started their secondary school careers at the start of COVID and worked through the lock down period from home.

On the Friday evening of England v the USA in the Women’s World Cup, members of the Petersfield Team enlisted the assistance of Faye Thompson the Town Crier and Consort Martin, to proclaim for the team and its event on Tuesday 26 August froom 6pm at the Rugby Club at Penns Place

They set the scene to customers of the Square Brewery and won round the crowd!

Petersfield Town Council agreed £15,000 for additional aeration equipment at The Heath Pond.

This is include installation of 12 callbrated disc diffusers, connected via self sinking tubing to avoid disruption to fishing, boating or netting activities.

Volunteer Senior Fishing Bailiff spoke at the meeting and said it will bring long term benefits. It will balance the pond and should prevent the blue green algae from blooming.

The sun shone for the events held at Stroud House and Downs House, ensuring everyone could get out and enjoy the summer sun. There was entertainment, events and of course plenty of food coming off of the BBQ.

Last Friday (15th August) relatives came to join the the residents and staff at Downs House to have fun in the sun. 

Both Stroud Fest and Downs Fete raised £2900, all for Dementia Friendly Petersfield.

A Turkish pop-up cafe has opened in Petersfield promising homemade Turkish delights and more.

The new venture has opened next to Fez Turkish restaurant in the adjoining function room -  keeping it in the family with daughter Ela Bozdag at the helm during her break from uni. She talks to Jo Gray.
