This year Herne Junior School in Love Lane, Petersfield is celebrating it's golden anniversary.

She wants to break into the music business so is busking in every town in the UK - Petersfield makes it over 200 so far .

Lin has been chair twice before and joined over 20 years ago to integrate into the community.

The Lions raise money to support many local charities - like Home Start Buster, the Kings Head, prostate cancer awareness and individuals who might need something like an appliance, or support., like the cause of a very young child who had a stroke shortly after birth.

On Saturday 26 July, at the Heath from noon till 3pm, children can join a free Lion Hunt (with a map and 10 clues to answer) and win a free 99 ice cream on completion. 

The Petersfield Lions organised this as a 'thank you' to the community for all the support they've had over the last year, which has in turn benefitted others.

Alex Churchill is a historian, battlefield guide and presenter of TV documentaries. She is also a Trustee of the Great War Group.

She spoke about her new book - Ring of Fire - A New Global History of the Outbreak of the First World War - at the Petersfield Bookshop on 10 July.

The Ladies Captain’s Day took the theme of the wartime years with a VE Day themed afternoon tea.

Everyone was dressed in red, white and blue. There was ration books and the Petersfield Dementia Music Group came along to help everyone sing wartime favourite songs.

Over £500 was raised on the day for Dementia Friendly Petersfield.

In March next year the Salvation Army will celebrate 140 years' work in Petersfield, based at its current location on Swan Street since 1924.

Corps Sergeant Major Steve Field tells us more about the 'opening shots' in 1886 from local reports at the time and explains the military features of the church.

Members of staff walked the 26 mile route through the streets of Chichester across the South Downs National Park, ending up at West Wittering Beach.

All chose to do the full course, finished and still made it into work the following day (4th July).

The money raised this year is for Breast Cancer UK and the Ben Kinsella Trust.

Sunday 29th May marked the 40th anniversary of the Beacon of Peace national charity walk.

The event is run by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association and has raised over £11 million since 1985. They have supported more than 600 charities, many of which are based in East Hampshire. Many of which endured the heat of the day to walk again this year.
