Chhanda Gayen was a Bengali mountaineer, martial artist, explorer, and teacher of self-defense. She is best known for being first civilian woman from the Indian state of West Bengal to climb to the summit of Mount Everest, 18 May 2013. She summited Mount Everest and Lhotse in 2013 in the same expedition.
