Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KMF. I am six forty and you're listening to
The Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app and
The Conway Show Dig Dong with Everybody live in Huntington Beach, California.
Oh man, it is so great to be back here
for the last ten or so years. I've been a

(00:22):
part of the parade, the Fourth of July parade for
about eight of those years, and I love it down here.
I would move down here in a heartbeat if I
if my wife I wasn't such a valley rat. Is
that right? Double birds? Okay, ladies and gentlemen. A guy
who was supposed to be and is on vacation but

(00:42):
came out anyway because he literally has nothing going on
in his home and social life. Michael Krozier hags ang
with you, buddy, come on, And because Krozier is on vacation,

(01:03):
he can drink and drink and drink and he can't
and you can't get fired drinking. On the other I,
on the other hand, Kirkland water. So there you go,
all right. I also Sharon Bellio, who is with us.
Nice to see Sharon Belly. O. Man, we're off the air.

(01:30):
Thank I think, sob on the air stand by for excitement. Stephan,
okay o, god shut you know that? Was that? That?
That's the way Bert does that to get me back.
He shuts the volume off and that's the way he
gets back at me for because I busted his balls
one day. Bert, You'll remember this is a true story

(01:50):
that we did a broadcast together about twenty years ago
out at a fish place on p H and you
fell asleep. Remember that.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
I fell asleep and fell off a stool, and you
thought I'd dropped dead.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
He fell asleep, fell office stool. I thought he was dead,
and we brought and he goes, please don't mention it
on the air, and I go Berts, I'm gonna mention
it a million times on the air, right and it's
still today. Is a great story. So Bert's with us anyway,
Sharon Belly, Oh, ladies and gentlemen, and also the sweetest

(02:26):
voice in talk radio, Angel Martinez, and a little yeah yeah,
look at you on your fans out there. And Steve
Gregory's going to join us as well here in a bit,
so it'll be great. There are there are three police

(02:48):
officers who are with us, and before the show, one
of them said to me, if the s hits the fan,
we're going to carry you across the street past the
basket robins into a an auxiliary Huntington Beach Police department
where we're gonna we're gonna, we're gonna all rendezvous and
make sure you're okay. I'm like, wait, is there a

(03:09):
sniper or something I don't know about? Is that what's
going on? Your code name is Flamingo. Hey, listen, I
wore this. I wore this shirt because I thought, you know,
isn't this the home of the swingers, the Huntington Beach.
Oh you need the pineapple. It's the upside down pineapples.
Is that right? Like this guy in that down Yeah,
that guy. I'll bet that guy accidentally wore the upside

(03:32):
down pineapple. He looks like he's been out of the
swinger game for a while. But anyway, we on last
I think it was yesterday or the day before yesterday,
Krozier was off. Crozier's off all this week, and we
celebrated his birthday without him. So now we must sing
to this man. Here we go one, two three, Happy Birthday?

(03:57):
Two you ha be Birthday tune louder Happy Bird Rose,
Happy Bird two. Michael Krozer, Uh speech, I guess I

(04:20):
don't know. I think that's what we're looking at.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Heren Beach is a wonderful place.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Can I get into the please? I finished this one.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Krozier has had four margarita since we've been on the air.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
Hey, that's true, right, absolutely?

Speaker 1 (04:39):
You shut you? What do they call you? Shoot him?
You shot him, you drank him, you downed them for
margarita since we've been on the air, Yes, sir, right, vacation,
no wonder. Krozer has never had a physical in his life,
not once. Is that true? Story?

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Right, It's absolutely true.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Not one physical in his entire life, you know, but
you feel you look great. My grandfather did the same thing.
My grandfather, my dad's dad. He put butter on everything,
Graham crackers, potatoes, chips, you know. He dipped the potato
chip and butter. Everything was butter. This guy that at
seventy five, he's like, yo, I don't feel good. Laid
down bang and it ended really quickly. But that's the

(05:19):
way to go, don't drag it out. That's the way
to go. I would much rather go that way than
you know, between eighty one and eighty five with your
fist clenched in the hospital, not knowing where you are.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Go hard and go home.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
That's right, it's like and Angel Martinez, everybody, everybody, Michael
O'Brien couldn't make it. Michae O'Brien is flying and right now,
is that true? He is, and he's gonna he's probably
buzzing us right now. Oh okay, make sure he's gonna
fly over us like all afternoons, all right with us?

(05:50):
And Angel does the traffic for us. She also has
a wonderful company we'll talk about later. And you gave
my my daughter to sad And I didn't want to
say this on the air. They're both rights. Oh no, yeah,
I'm sure to mix up, you know, unless you know
something about so if I don't, maybe I just got

(06:13):
two crazy feet. But anyway, Angel Martinez, real quick. What's
the website again? Naughty USA?

Speaker 4 (06:19):
Yeah, e U t I USA dot com.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
He talk with you. We got our regulars here from Facebook.
What's the exact title? It's a long ass title. Oh
my god, book and friends fan page and on on Facebook?

(06:42):
How many are you up to? How many? Fourteen thousand followers? Oh,
I gotta stop essen all over that page. We have
three of Huntington Beach cops out here, which again makes
me a little nervous because the cops that came with
us and the other three guys are standing around like
I'm about to be the next Donald Trump around here.

(07:03):
It's going on around here. Yeah, they're taking a look
at the rooftops with five of them. Now, all right,
now there's five of them. Man oh man a un comfortably.
I should have worn a helmet here. All right, we're
gonna we gotta take a break here. Oh, we forgot
to talk to belly Where's belly O? Where's Bellio? Sharon Bellio?
All right, Belly O is the executive dust of the show.

(07:24):
We forgot to put you on. Let's put you on
a microphone here. Everybody loves belly O. Everybody loves Sharon
Belli O. Everybody can going with this woman. Queen? What
time did you get here today? Okay? Are you now?

(07:44):
Are you investigating the swingers scene here in hunting the Baby. Yeah,
I've checked it out. It's room. So there's some candidates.

Speaker 5 (07:57):
So thank you, Conway, your keys in the bowl.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
That all right? Do you want to tell them about
how they can win fifty dollars. We are raffling off
fifty dollars beach. If you do not have a raffle ticket,
find one of our promotion guys. There is uh Nate
and Geo and Chris.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
I think, yeah, and find one of those guys.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
You could win something and thank you. How many do
we have to give away week? Hey? Wait? How many
are we giving away? Head certificate?

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Fifty three of them?

Speaker 5 (08:28):
Three of them.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Wow, that's pretty good. That's pretty alright. So one in
the first hour, one in the second hour, and hopefully
everyone's doing the math with me, carry the one. All right,
we are at BJ's and Huntington Beach. Come on down,
shout out back and enjoy yourself. Oh, I forgot Stephoo's
Wait a minute, hold on, step Booh is with us?

(08:51):
I apologize If you're not in my line to night,
I forget about you, step Booh. We wish you were here, buddy,
but you're not, and you're a huge part of the show.
Sig bongs. Alright, I'm gonna I'm gonna hear about that,
you know, forget it.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
We'll be a memo.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
Yeah, Well, what can I do? All right. We're at
Huntington Beach, two hundred Main Street. They say this place
is two blocks from the beach. They lied to you.
It's one block from the beach, right, one block. I
can see the ocean from where I'm sitting. I can
see the ocean from where I'm sitting. All right, come
on down. I'll be the guy sporting pirol on. Everybody

(09:27):
wearing a Hawaiian shirt, come on down, say hi. We'll
be here till seven o'clock tonight. We've got a big program.
Steve Gregory is gonna threatening to join us as well.
And we're live at BJ's Restaurant in brew House in Huntington.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
B You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from
KFI Am sixty.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
It is the Conway Joe. We're in Huntington Beach for
the Big Surf competition and Huntington Beach's finest is all
around is about seven or eight of the cops out
side police officers. And then we have Chief Eric Para.
Is that ey pronounce your last name?

Speaker 4 (10:07):
Para?

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yes, you're the best the chief of police everybody. And
I asked you, I said, you know you walk around
with security or a detail and you're like, no, why
would I do that? No, But some cities they're all
like LA, you can't be the chief of police without
walking around the security detail.

Speaker 6 (10:25):
No, the LA chief of police has a significant security
detail on the advanced team and people that are always
with him and it's a completely different environment.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Okay, So you are now the chief of police for
the last what three years or so?

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Almost three okay?

Speaker 1 (10:39):
And how long you been with Huntington.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Beach for just about three years?

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Okay? All right, so you came on and so they
brought a guy from the outside to be the chief.
But you're not an outsider. You live here.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
I've lived here since nineteen ninety three.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Is that right, that's right man? Yes, Well, you know
these jobs don't come up very often. I mean, for
the timing to be perfect like that for you to
get the job is great.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
The stars aligned perfectly.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
It is awesome.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
I could not be more happy.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
And I and I heard somebody told me this. You
in your regular civilian clothes, you go out, you go
to a restaurant, you order your food, you eat with
dinner with your family, whatever, and very rarely do you
get a bill because somebody in that restaurant recognized you,
said thank you, and paid for your bill.

Speaker 6 (11:19):
This community is beyond supportive. So what I do now
as I go in, I give the ways for my
cart before and I said nobody else, So I get it.
But I mean, this community is so supportive it's it's unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
Thank you guys all.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yes, we will.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
We will never forget the support we have here.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
I appreciate it. I asked Chief part I said, hey,
where's the jail around here? And he goes, Tim, you've
been in it, and I know it is a long night,
long night, but I remember it. Yeah, I remember you
guys had a There was an awards ceremony for fire
department and for Huntington Beach Fire and hunting to Beach

(11:58):
Police Department, and they're kind enough to ask me. So
I jumped at the at the opportunity to do it.
And I got a little bit of trouble with your
with the ex chief a Handy I believe his name, yes,
because I got up. I was introducing the police officers
and to get awards, and I said, wow, if all
the good cops are in here, then all the really

(12:18):
horrible ones are on the street. Silence silence, and then
and then the chief comes up one before you and
said you're gonna have a really difficult time getting to
the four oh five.

Speaker 6 (12:31):
That's just that's a little bit of jail time, right,
that's right.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
How many guys and gals are on this weekend? How
big is the force?

Speaker 6 (12:39):
So we have a total compliment of two hundred and
thirty and we have this weekend almost everybody out. Okay,
so we uh, there's a few people that are off,
but this is a big weekend.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
Air show is a big weekend. A lot of other
big weekends we have.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
So we want to make sure we have different layers
of security, and we want to make sure that everybody
can come here and enjoy the event. Be safe, Just
focus on the event. We'll focus on security. Everybody have
a good time.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
And so there's a saying with the with the Hunting
to Beach cops, I don't let the riff raft from
burbank in. Is that what's going on?

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Well, we'll have to talk about that later.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
We got that, all right, I get it, I get it,
I get it. But this is you're expecting two or
three hundred thousand people.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
Yes, this is a huge event for US. It brings
the surfing industry is just amazing. Obviously, we're Surf City, USA.
It's an amazing event for us, and it is. It's
every year. We have so much participation and if you
if you're interested in surfing, you'll never see better surfing
than you're seeing here. I know we have the Olympics
going at the same time, but this is an amazing
event and the the just to watch the quality of

(13:41):
these surfers is really really amazing.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
I know you grew up in the area. Did you
ever serve?

Speaker 4 (13:46):
I did?

Speaker 7 (13:46):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Is that right?

Speaker 4 (13:47):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (13:47):
I missed a little bit of school occasionally for that
and yeah, yeah, just once it one or two days.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
Yeah, you didn't put that on your application for chief though.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
I missed it, all right.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
And so everybody's working this weekend, you expect to say, wen,
I heard that much like Beverly Hills. Have you ever
been to Beverly Hills Police Department? They have the latest
and the greatest equipment because the people up there support
the police department much like they do down here. Correct,
you guys have an unbelievable equipment down here. What I
see on the streets with the motorcycles and the cars.

(14:18):
That's the latest stuff.

Speaker 6 (14:19):
So we have we do have the latest equipment. We're
always updating, we're always trying to get better. But we
use we use the best and the highest quality equipment
out here because that's a paramount of public.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
Safety, all right. And and again when you come out
Tohntington Beach, I'm not gonna say from what area, but
maybe Burbank or Burbank adjacent. You can't screw around out
here because the cops out here step to you quick
when you do that.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
So we have a proactive police imposture. We'll call it that.

Speaker 6 (14:45):
And uh, but but first is service, second professionalism, and
those those are obviously one and two, and they go
back and forth.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
But we will be proactive. We will not we won't.

Speaker 6 (14:55):
We don't tolerate criminal activity. But we're always professional, we're
always polite, we always talk to you. We all is
use the esplation, but in the end, we don't tolerate
criminal activity.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
That's right. And you probably have worked in some communities, yeah, exactly,
you look at it like that, I mean very I mean,
what other cities do you go in and the chief
of police comes on and he's the most popular guy.
In the room. You know, especially nowadays, but you probably
worked in communities where it hasn't been that, you know,
the the residents haven't supported it as much. But man,

(15:27):
I can't find anybody down here in Seal Beach that
doesn't support your crew. I can't one guy. I mean, do.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
You like Seal Beach too?

Speaker 1 (15:37):
I keep throwing up Seal Beach, at Huntington Beach, at
Manhattan Beach, right, But in Huntington Beach, I can't find
a single person down here. Who is you know, running around? Uh?
You know, I'm asking all over the cops.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
No, it doesn't happen.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (15:52):
And there's obviously there's one or two that that you
just won't like the police. But nine of the people
here love the p And the reason is is that
when I hire people, I make sure that I tell
them the only reason we have public support is because
we give the community the highest possible service. Every time
you go out, that better be a positive interaction. If
somebody is going if somebody calls you to their house

(16:13):
for the one or two times in their lifetime that
they will, that interaction needs to be positive and every
question that they ask needs to be answered.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Wow, And that's our posture.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
That's great. I also heard from somebody on the street
who wears a similar uniform that you do that code three.
If they don't get to that house and that an
incident or that house in three minutes, that you want
to talk to them the next day.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
I mean, there may be a little conversation, you know.
That's great, though we do like fast response time.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
That's right, that's right, all right, Chief par everybody, thank you,
Thank you, Beach Police Department, thank you. You're live at
BJ's and hung the Beaches. Come on dawn. We'll be
there seven on KFI AM six forty.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM sixty dig.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
He's along with you, everybody. We're out at BJ's brew
House restaurant hunting Tim Beach Croziers with us Belli O Angel.
The whole group steps back of the station and of
course a buddy of ours, Timlin, formerly of KTLA, Nice
to see you, man. Yeah, they can go wrong with you. Uh,

(17:24):
you're on there. How about that? Here we go? Right
all right? Tim Lyin, who flew on for KTLA for
how many years? Sixteen sixteen years? Okay, but I think
you were the last of the pilot slash reporters. They
don't do that anymore.

Speaker 7 (17:37):
No, I was one of There was two of us left,
and when I left there were none.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Who is the other guy, Mark Kono?

Speaker 4 (17:42):
Heus the guy to flew the morning side of it?

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Okay, all right, but all right, like texting and driving,
isn't flying a helicopter in reporting kind of dumb? No,
not calling you dumb. You called me dumb. Okay, all right,
that's not gonna be the last time.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
It actually isn't that hard.

Speaker 7 (17:58):
It's I mean, if you're driving down the street, you
have in a conversation with some of your car, it's
pretty much the safe right, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Okay, I mean the flying you go to hear and
listen to the helicopter.

Speaker 7 (18:08):
You're hearing five different people talking.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
To you, and then you crash. Once I did crashed.
I did do that to me. It was like you,
we're paying attention to.

Speaker 7 (18:23):
Your precautionary landing in twenty twelve, right.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
In Hollywood, Hollywood. I remember that. Yeah, don't talk to
me now.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
Don't talk to me now.

Speaker 7 (18:34):
When you when your buddy sitting next to you in
Channel two saying hey, you're smoking, you need to put
it on the ground.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
You don't argue with him.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
Who told you?

Speaker 7 (18:41):
A guy Dan Catalano, buddy of mine back Okay, Yeah,
he was my instructor here at Hunting to Beach fete
when I flew for Running to Beach and yeah when
he told media landed. Now I start coming down as
I start leaving the scene we're on and they see
our shot going away.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Wow, they start, hey, where you're going? Where are you going?
Go back?

Speaker 5 (18:59):
But I can when wait, wait, wait, I got to clarify.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
So this was happening, and so you I guess the
people were talking to you and you.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Said, don't talk to me right now.

Speaker 7 (19:08):
Yeah, they're barking at you about leaving the scene, and
I'm like trying not to hit them.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
Well, he's on fire.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
And he's busy, a little busy at the moment.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah, And and you know it's like the bill O'Reilly
will do a lot. We use that SoundBite forever. Don't
talk to me now we'll talk. But what is the equipment?
Is the equipment better here at Huntington Beach Police Department
or at k K T L A.

Speaker 7 (19:33):
Well, it's two completely different types of helicopters two different missions.
The one with the news much more equipment in it,
a lot more sophisticated equipment in it to where you
have to put up the product for TV. Now that
the police everything is more compact and is used for
police work. You're not trying to go for the perfect color,
the perfect image, but cover and the police have infrared.

(19:56):
The news says, not.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
So, now do you? Is I imagine can Beach because
they have so much money here that they yeah, don't, don't.
Don't try to deny hunting the Beach.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
They don't have that much loaded.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Tell you, guys, you give me the check. I bet
that there are some cities that are surrounding Huntington Beach
that use their helicopter as as their own. Maybe Coasta Mesa, Well.

Speaker 7 (20:22):
They contract with Coast to Asia hunting to Beach fete.
Does they contract with Newport PD?

Speaker 1 (20:28):
No? Really no. They did want to talk about having money.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
Yeah, well, I first.

Speaker 7 (20:32):
Started down here, they had their own helicopter, but over
the years it went away.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
Then Coast of Mason went away.

Speaker 7 (20:37):
Well, then Huntington picked up the slack by contracting with
those two cities. They also contract with Irvine one every
other month. They share with Angel, which is the Aneim ship,
so they get move around.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Okay, let's go back to police chases. You've you've seen
a few couple, and you're the one that sticks out.

Speaker 7 (20:56):
Is what uh the one where we're coming uh east
on the sixth the freeway and I'm kind of just
you know, Hey's east stays going very fast coming east
LA interchanging it. So I kind of got into it,
and uh, when I got home that night, my wife
kind of goes, what the hell is wrong with you?

(21:17):
You saw like a five year old playing with Tonka
toys in your front room.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Yeah, well they got to wipe out.

Speaker 7 (21:22):
Yeah, he rolled over and caught on fire, bounced down
the freeway.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
And just do a awesome It was a real good one.
I don't know if you're on the air for this one,
but it's the one where the mad Max motor home.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
Oh yeah, I on that one.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
Yeah that way, Yeah, ended up on Tampa and Ventura.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
The dog's flying people people and.

Speaker 7 (21:41):
You know when you're in those pursuits and it's live,
that's happening. Now you're talking about it and stuff like
you're going along all of a sudden this dog comes
up in the windshield like, and then he tumbles out
of the windshield, jumps out in the middle of the pursuit,
and I'm yelling at my camera guy.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Stay on the dog, stay on the dog, because that's
the story.

Speaker 7 (21:58):
Now we're gonna follow that damn anyway, So get back
to it. But yeah, that that lady tore every part
of that motor home office.

Speaker 4 (22:05):
You couldn't where she crashed. I'm telling you that.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Hey, Tim, you were talking about how how you guys
generally don't have the infrared and the police officers do.
Is that a cost thing or is that the legality
allowance Stuffcuse that just seems like it would be really cool.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
For you to have.

Speaker 7 (22:18):
Well, because the camera has so much optics and it's
so big, you can't really put all that stuff in
there with it's a separate camera system, so it gets
a little bit too heavy, a little too car cameras
or the cameras on news ships are very high quality,
very big, and so to be able to put an
infrared system on there, uh, it's kind of a little
one cost prohibitive, and two we are not going to

(22:39):
use it. I one time got to use one we
tested out one and we're on a fire and Malibu
and we're showing the picture of these lights and stuff,
a little flickering here and there, and then we switched
over to the infrared and you could just see the fires.
But what it did is it turns the picture to
black and white.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
And people started freaking out calling the station.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
So that's just I love my color. Oh gion where
you are in life? Where you call a station because
they went to black and white? But you know, you know,
buddy U, my brother Jake, who's one of my favorite
people in the world, we're invited up to LAPD to
go in their helicopter. This is like four or five

(23:21):
years ago, and we meeted Denny's before at downtown La.
He has a full meal, you know, the slam and
build your own slam and all that crap. I'd add nothing.
So we get up to the heliport there and they
weigh us both and they're gonna be overweight with both
of us, so they have to burn off some fuel.
So my I said to my brother, I said, why

(23:42):
don't you go first? And he said okay, And I
said here, I said, take this garbage bag with you
in case the s it's the fan, and he goes,
I don't need it, and I said, just.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
Take it with you.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
Well, they go up, a guy shoots and another guy
or shoots at a cop and they get into these
tight spines and that lasted forty five minutes. He came
back with a glad bag full. I hope you're enjoying
your meal there, gang. I got three more of those
stories coming back. Tim Lynn, Thank you, buddy, you're a

(24:14):
giant stud. We have Fritz Coleman here as well, and
we also have a giveaway.

Speaker 3 (24:21):

today that that pazuki is my daughter's favorite meal in
the world. They drive, Oh it's for her, it's a meal,

and drive to the Bjys and Burbank just for that
dessert and then go home.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
