As busy as our schedules get, why should we carve out time to study biblical theology and doctrine? Can something academic give us the joyful experience that we are looking for?
This week we will continue our series on why we should study biblical theology and doctrine with an in-depth study of 1 Peter 3:15-17. How do we honor Christ the Lord as holy in our hearts?
Every time someone asks us a question about Jesus or attacks our faith in Christ, we have an opportunity to offer a personal and vibrant relationship with the Lord and the Creator of the universe. As Disciples of Christ called to pursue the Great Commission and be ministers of the gospel, we need to be better prepared for those moments!
In 1 Peter 3:15, we are told to be ready to give an answer for our hope and that we are to give that answer with gentleness and fear. Does this gentleness and fear refer to our attitude toward unbelievers? Or toward God? Or both?
What does it mean to have a good conscience that leads to good behavior?
And how do we strive for this without becoming a bunch of modern, legalistic Pharisees?
