With the Gold Coast recently experiencing black spots in our phone reception due to TC Alfred, Moyra and Big Trev asked for tips for better reception locations or ways to improve it!

I went out to visit him yesterday just to see
if he needed anything. I said, I'll trop it back
later on in the evening to bring some supplies out
to here. But as I was driving out there, I
saw the probably around about twenty cars and there was
ten on one side and ten on the other side.
This was Benogan Road that connects into Somerset Road. Went
out saying well, Norm grabbed his phone, brought it into

work and charged it up, and then went back with
his phone and some supplies and some noodle box because
he could see it was one candlelight blessed living in
the eighteen eighty blessed. But I went out there and
then I was as I was driving back same place,
Benogan Road that connects under Somerset Drive, there was thirty
maybe thirty five cars each on each side, and I

was like, I want, what is going on here? Lights
drown cars are going on. I thought they were lining
up for something. I don't know what was going on. Yeah,
well there's a church up there, and I thought maybe
they're lining up to get in.

Just six days earlier, yeah, or a couple of days late.

But then I figured out that when I brought Norm's
phone back to him, he hadn't any reception. Still red,
I went, oh, these guys are up here getting reception,
and I was slowly drove past their card. They're all
on their phone, charging their phones, but looking at whatever news,
YouTube movies. There was one guy on the Real Match.

Yeah, I don't need Wi Fi for that one.

I needed to get it.

That game has really had a smash it.

I was such an anti fan of Real Match because
of the ads right forever haven't been and then Friday
I was like, oh, hang, and that doesn't use any
Wi Fi and I can play it anywhere.

I'm actually repeating the ad. So there you go, guys,
Apple Watch. But I found out that's the best place
for reception when you want to have the facer. There's
so many the lines are down energy extra on trying
to get your lig to sit you back, but reception Telsa.

I'm just saying someone might be.

Someone in the nineties, I couldn't get any service at
my house days. I'd have to drive towards Rabina, okay
and go up high.

Yeah.

Yeah, it's come back just overnight. But yeah, I had
to go for a drive for a good five minutes
to find any service out of Mandre.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
I have a lovely friend of mine called Jack Lawrence,
and he does a podcast called One Minute Remaining and
he interviews people on death row in America. He posted
a photo today of him hanging out his bathroom window
because that's the only way he could get receptionally to
talk to a guy who's on death row in like
Arizona or something.

Still got to keep working, can't ring anyone else.

Ryan from Runaway Bay, best place for reception. Have you
got any clues for anyone?

I've got two tricks. Yes. So the first one is
you put your phone on aeroplane mode and then put
it back to normal. It will pick up the closest
tower with the biggest the most bars. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
So in case you're you know, if you're connected to
the tweed and then you drive and you lose power

and you say, you say, the gold case is still
connected to the tweed tower a lower reception on aeroplane
mode or pick up the closest tower where you are
hot tip where the other trick. That's what I did
when I lost power. I had a battery inverter which
was good, ran my bridge, but I had a little
power board that you get behind your TV, and I

plugged in my mode and my router and had the
Wi Fi calling on my phone really and that my
neighbors will come and over go on your phone work,
and now they're all looking on to my internet crowd.
You gotta put it because NBN is different to your power.
You got a different okay, So that that's how you
get the phone work.

So this is what happened in oe Violin yesterday as well.
NBN was out, so it went back to the As
I found out from a very intelligent person, Ben who's
sitting on the other side of the desk, is a
SIM card within your modem. So it actually went back
to the SIM card and then this morning it went
back to the actual NBN yeah. Yeah.

And the other thing, when the NBA goes out and
you and your power is still on, you've got to
turn your Wi Fi off. So yeah, so obviously you
four d to get back off.

Yeah.

So you're standing there going I've got Wi Fi, but
your work?

Yeah, this is yes, yep to where were you on Friday? Ryan?
