Retro Wars

Finish him!!! It is back to Mortal Kombat where this week I look at the first re-boot they did in MK9. Hot off the re-emergence of fighting games thanks to Street Fighter 4, MK9 was the chance for the series to be back in the spotlight once again.

This week, I am joined by Raging Demon and Chaotic Jim from the Kommand List podcast.

Do you like eating members of the workforce? Yes, well Abe's Odyssey is for you. One of the early PlayStation one games I played which scared me for how dark it is. A puzzle game (well I think it is) at heart, help Abe escape Rapture Farms and save all his fellow co-workers from being a nice snack.

This week, I am joined by my brother, Phil.

Fire Emblem: Awakening, my first ever Fire Emblem game. The one that started it all for me. Going back to it again after all these felt so good. This game put the series on the map in the West turning it into the juggernaut it is today.

Time to go on a large adventure with a little mouse. Mina the Hollower, the newest game from Yacht Club Games is now out on all platforms. I was very lucky to receive a review copy of the game, and had the chance to sit down with Nick Woznick and David D'Angelo from the team. I really believe this game will be up there come awards season but remember this game is hard.....very hard.

I am BATMAN. One of the best lines ever spoken, and today, I play the cape crusaders first appearance on the NES. I had heard this was a difficult game but I decided I wanted to have a challenge. The question is, did I finish this and beat the Joker?

It is time for the final fight.....in chibi form. Yes, we are talking Mighty Final Fight for the NES. A game I never knew existed because it came so late in the NES' life. It is a demake if you will of the original final fight with a chibi art style and I won't lie, I love this game. Joining me this week, is Captain N from the Retrotopia podcast.

Still one of the weirdest names for the video game, it is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III - The Manhattan Project on the NES. I had never played this prior to this podcast and this saddens me because it is a great game. The turtles are on the quest to save Manhattan from being lifted from the ground...yes it is odd. This week I am joined by Blaine the Hoagie man from the Retro Ryders podcast.

Ristar the Sonic killer, well that was what he was called at the time. Surprisingly this game was only released on the mega drive and game gear with no other sequels. Made by the Sonic Team, this was a very different game where one little star needs to go out to save his father....by headbutting his enemies. This week, I am joined by Matt aka Stormaggedon

It is time for more Pokémon. I cannot get enough of this series. This time we are talking about the Pokémon trading card game. I played this to death when I was a kid and now that it is on the NSO, it gave me the perfect excuse to play it all over again. This week I am joined by the great Jake Macauley, my brother from another mother. Will we obtain the legendary cards???
