Hitlers geheime tunnel
Podcastmaker Marc Adriani zoekt een tunnel die door de Duitsers tijdens de Tweede Wereld Oorlog zou zijn aangelegd in Soesterberg. Het bestaan van de tunnel is nooit bewezen, maar al 80 jaar gaat het verhaal rond in het dorp. Via die eventuele tunnel konden Duitse bevelhebbers veilig en zonder dat iemand het zag van Vliegbasis Soesterberg naar het zogeheten Officiers Casino lopen. Deze plekken liggen ruim 900 meter uit elkaar. Het Officiers Casino werd door de Duitsers ook wel Soldatenheim genoemd en staat tot de dag van vandaag aan de Kampweg in Soesterberg. Het was een soort evenementen locatie voor de nazi-militairen. In deze zesdelige podcastserie van AD Amersfoortse Courant spreekt Marc Adriani historici, voormalig medewerkers van de Nederlandse Luchtmacht, deskundigen van het Militair Museum, maar ook archeologen, een graafmachine machinist en inwoners van Soesterberg die de oorlog bewust hebben meegemaakt. Allemaal met één doel, het vinden van de tunnel.

Eindelijk gaan de deuren van het voormalige Soldatenheim in Soesterberg open. De directeur van het Design Museum verklaart de innige vriendschap van architect Albert Speer en Adolf Hitler. Onder het buitenverblijf van Hitler lag een compleet dorp met allerlei gangenstelsels.

Mysterieuze gebouwen zorgen altijd voor geheimzinnige verhalen. Journalist Ruurd Kok kent meerdere van dat soort plekken. In Soesterberg laat Hans van Breukelen van het Nationale Militaire Museum de ingang van een tunnel zien, misschien wel dé tunnel.

In Huisduinen in de buurt van Den Helder staat ook een Casino, ook dit werd gebouwd door de Duitsers. Gelukkig is dit gebouw tegenwoordig een museum zodat we hier wel naar binnen kunnen. De tunnel onder dit gebouw is indrukwekkend.

De zoektocht naar de tunnel onder Soesterberg gaat verder. Ooggetuige meneer Majoor vertelt hoe de Duitsers in 1940 aankomen in Soesterberg. Ook laat Inno de plek zien op de voormalige Vliegbasis Soesterberg waarvan hij bijna zeker weet dat de tunnel daar eindigt.

Onder de grond van de Soesterberg zitten nog veel geheimen. Dat vertelt ex-militair Inno Rutting. Hij heeft het begin van de tunnel ooit eens gezien bij het podium in het Casino. Dat geldt ook voor het uiteinde van de tunnel op voormalig Vliegveld Soesterberg.
